We found this place by mistake while looking for a place to eat lunch that could seat 5. The food was nice and good value for money it was very busy with people who work in the area but we didn't feel rushed at all.

We were in the hotel literally next door so we ate breakfast here every morning. Great value, massive choice and really good customer service too. We took in lunch on the last day too and again the choice and service was fantastic. A little gem just off Times Square. There is a really good deli next door to it with a buffet type option to go and of course Connelly's Pub for the Perfect Pint on the rooftop bar (4th floor and there is a lift to it)

its nice next door to st james hotel great selection of drinks food the food is in cling film and my brownie was rock hard . staff are friendly

This place rocks if you are looking for awesome food so much choice you can not go wrong and fantastic service you must eat here

Whether breakfast, lunch, or snack, this place has anything you could want, all prepared fresh and at a good price. Nice counter staff, too.

I eat here a few times - breakfast and dinner. It's a deli. Simple. Breakfast - pancakes, bacon and syrup - lovely Dinner - mac and cheese with a side of fries. Lovely. No the surroundings are not perfect, but the service is good, the food prepared fresh, the staff are friendly. there is seating available and despite signs saying only to sit for no more than 30 minutes there was no rush to get out. A huge mix of people use here from tourists, to workies to business people. Excellent value. Open very early and closes very late so a nice bolt on to staying in the hotel next door.

Dunhill makes the most delicious breakfast and has an extensive menu. The prices are quite reasonable and there is ample seating for those who wish to eat in. Service is quick and the staff very professional.

Enjoyed breakfast here everyday of our trip! The staff were efficient and friendly. They remembered us after our first visit. Great bagels and breakfast sandwiches! This will be my stop for breakfast on my future visits!

There is a line to order and you get to watch the employees cook your order while you watch and then move down the line to get coffee etc. What a great team they made, working together in very quick succession to prepare many, many orders. My husband had a breakfast sandwich while I had eggs (perfectly cooked over easy). The portions were huge. Seating is communal with plastic silverware.

Look, tourists are used to experiencing wallet fatigue in Manhattan when dining. However, Dunhill offers a wonderful reprieve from this. Their prices are extremely affordable, but he food is awesome, especially considering the price. Our family ate there during all times of the day over the course of our week in NYC. Their morning coffee is great!

It was right next door to our hotel, which didn't have a bar or restaurant, so was handy for an early morning coffee, late night hot chocolate and many things in between

Was looking for a place that didn't charge $10 for an egg sandwich and found the dunhill. Price was only one of the benefits found here. Great service, great food and a great scene. Will definitely return!

We had breakfast here every morning during our week long stay at the hotel next door (Hotel St James). Even when we didn't have time to eat it at the restaurant we asked for it as a takeaway. We didn't even look for another breakfast place as we loved Dunhills. The bagels were delicious and the fillings were generous. The French toast was also very good. The staff were very friendly. There was always a steady stream of locals getting breakfast on the way to work and it was interesting watching the cooks. We will definitely go back to this restaurant if we visit New York again.

Great food, great service, what more do you want? Added bonus right next door to our hotel St James!

What seemed to us Brits a very traditional American deli! Quick service. Wide choice of food at very reasonable price. We loved the breakfasts!

We were visiting NY for the first time. We got lucky and saw snow since we flew in after niko. Well coming from Miami we noticed that things were pricey than we're used to. We found this shop next to our hotel and ate here 90% of our trip. The breakfast was good and filling. We had the English muffin breakfast, croissant breakfast sandwich, pancakes and French toast platter. All under $10. We had lunch and even dinner here. We just couldn't stay away. It was awesome having a spot that can serve it all at a reasonable price.

Friendly staff for a deli. Plenty of food for the price. Plenty of options for breakfast. We only did breakfast. Deli lunches looked good too. We never tried them as we were always out exploring during lunch.

Little restaurant is not a fancy place, but nice for quick meal at a reasonable price. It is right next door to the St. James Hotel and we even dropped by for breakfast. Very good Reuben sandwich, fries and soda for less than $10. So much I could hardly finish it.

I stayed on the other block of this deli and I came here every day to have breakfast. The prices are ok and options are wide. The cashier has a bad humor all the time

Next to Hotel St. James , the Dunhill became our favvorite breakfast places. Quick service, nice personnel. Great menu: fresh fruit, drinks, egg&bacon&bread the way you want it (handled by a guy with New York's best memory, I think). You can eat upstairs, lots of space. If you live at St. James, you don't have to look for something else.

Next to St James hotel - were originally one firm. Several standard dishes with pictures so language is not a problem. Fairly cheap, but the usual vast portions, we Brits usually share!

Great food, lovely staff. Prices are good too. Pretty quick for your order to be made, there's also an atm inside - $2 charge. Breakfast, bagels, sandwiches.. All cooked fresh to order. Salads looked amazing.. All food looked very fresh and tasty!

We went here yesterday as this place is across the road from our hotel snd we were not dissapointed. The place was really busy but so good. For just over $20 we had two white coffees and bacon and pancakes and it tasted so good. Simple cafe but so good!

Just next door to our hotel. Wide selection of food options if you don’t mind US style breakfast; sensibly priced;

On our day trip we decided to drive to Time Square NY and came across this place called the Dunhill Cafe.,..... This place was very welcoming the food- excellent and price for what we ordered was just right.,.... It's located on 109 west 45st if you have time check them out for lunch trust me you won't be disappointed......

We stayed next door to this great place and popped in for breakfast most days. Typical of many NY delis, the range of food is amazing - for any time of day, not just breakfast. Hot dishes, bagels, oatmeal, fresh fruit, smoothies, muffins etc, etc. You'd be hard pressed or very fussy to not find something to suit. Service is quick and the staff really friendly- even to dozy Brits like me who didn't get the system at first. Best if all, it's so quintessentially American - I could have stayed all day and enjoyed the atmosphere! Avoid the big chain, generic eating places and come to places like this!!

Good traditional New York lunch counter. Great Reubens, lox and bagels, tuna melts and black cherry soda. If you like that kind of thing, you will like Dunhill's. New are the paninis and some minor concessions to the 21st century but if you are in to tradition, you will find it here. Tables are communal and shared with guys in $1,000 suits and super heroes from Time Square. I love this great comfort food place.

At breakfast here almost everyday. It was very reasonable and fresh. I didn't try all the other non breakfast option but everything looked good.

This place offers open seating and counter service for made to order breakfast sandwiches, platters, and other items. The food was good...very typical of a greasy spoon eat & run on the cheap.

This typical Delhi, is one of many in New York, but it is value for money and they make the best coffee also. Meals are very varied and well presented, all be it like many places they serve it in plastic containers. Give it a try.

Nice little deli right by the hotel St James the food is good and there is plenty of it The breakfast sandwiches are really good and they make excellent hamburgers you can go in and eat or you can take it to your room very good place the only reason I did not give them 5 stars it's because they can tell if you are a tourist or not and they charge you a little more if you're not a local

This is a freshly made, order at the counter diner. I was thrilled to see a big pot of homemade oatmeal with a wide variety of toppings. Pick the container size and serve yourself - very good. My husband had eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast - a hearty breakfast. Food was good and prices were very reasonable. Great filling breakfast with beverages and a Black and White cookie to go, for 16.00. Can't beat that in NYC. Located on 45th between 6th and 7th by the St James Hotel. Worth the stop for a hot breakfast.

My company's office is in the same block s the Dunhill, and I frequently stop here for breakfast, coffee and lunch when working in the city. The breakfasts are always freshly prepared with flavorful ingredients and are a great start to the day, I have had some of the sandwiches when I go here for lunch, the cheesesteak is always yummy. The folks who do the cooking and who run the registers are always helpful and friendly!

really enjoyed our breakfast in here, tasty and made us hot tea which is rare in New York. Staff are friendly.

We planned to find different places for breakfast each day but found ourselves walking right next door to our hotel to eat here. The food is cooked right in front of you and there was never a long line. The price was reasonable as we were able to have a great start to the day for under @20.00 for 2 people.

Great deli next to the Hotel St James. Extensive menu and great range of hot and cold food n drinks. Used this place a lot. Not over priced either..

This little cafe was right next to our hotel and we grabbed breakfast and snacks here often. It's quick, it's filling and it's tasty.

We stayed a few doors down from this place and ate breakfast here on 3 occasions Excellent value and service with the food cooked fresh as you waited We even finished our last hour in NYC with a coffee and a cake before going to the airport Try something different every day from their menu you will not be disappointed. We stayed in November 2015 for 5 nights. We discovered Dunhill on the first morning and had breakfast there every morning of our stay!! Loved it :-) Will be back in September and of course will be visiting.

We were staying at the Hyatt next door. We ordered late one evening and picked it up. We had a philly cheese steak and salad, our kids had pasta and pancakes with sausage and eggs. That was what was on their mind. The food was good. Service was ok. It was done very quickly. We only ate here out of convenience, but would say it was bad.

Started every day with breakfast here. Choices were many and the service was swift: order food, pay for food, then go back to pick up and enjoy breakfast. Of note, the eggs were always freshly cooked upon ordering no matter if they were over easy or scrambled. The only complaint was there was too much cheese on my wife’s grilled cheese.

We was staying at hotel st james next door and decided to try this place for breakfast on our first morning I had sausage 2 eggs potatoes and toast and hubby had corned beef 2 eggs potatoes and toast we both had a medium coffee and bill was $22 portions were large we ate at 8.30am and didn't start to feel hungry again until 7pm would highly recommend this place plenty of locals coming in and grabbing breakfast to go all the food was cooked fresh in clear view of you and the cleanliness was brilliant are going here every morning for breakfast while in town

We stopped in twice for breakfast. Very reasonable prices and they had a nice variety of items. Watched them prepare the food. A lot of locals stopped in to purchase a breakfast item to take to work.

This place is a gem among gems !! Huge selection of food freshly prepared all day. It's expensive to eat around time square but this place was very affordable . Staff were friendly and helpful. Interconnect door to the James hotel and we are breakfast and dinner there evergday. Can't say enough about the place excellent !!

Very small hole in the wall diner in the old style, near Times Square. Ate an corned-beef hash & eggs breakfast there. Old wooden booths, appears to be family-run, lots of different deli-type items to choose from and a hot griddle fast-order grill for hot meals. Limited booth-type seating. Friendly people and an earthy atmosphere, nice change of pace and acceptable food.

Stayed at the hotel upstairs/next door so this was an easy spot to grab something to eat in the morning. Prices were pretty reasonable for the location, and the food was quick and tasty

This is a great little place bit chaotic & busy but that's because it's used by the locals day in day out, we have been using it the last few days and always fresh quality ingredients and cooked nicely, You won't go wrong here eat in or take out, and the menu is extensive, adding to this you get a smile, open early till late.

Service really good, fast and furious ordering but the staff were great and helped us with our order glad we popped in here instead of on the main time square drag!

Great deli... choices galore... can eat in. Service was good. Has a bathroom. Great for a quick eat.

I've been working in midtown on and off for over 20 years. Dunhill Cafe is a consistent place that is basically a stop-and-go deli for business people working in the neighborhood. During the week you will see people in suites ordering everything from tasty sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts to take back to their offices. They also have a hot buffet which is a great bargain. For about $10 to $12 dollars you can get an entree such as chicken, beef stew and broiled salmon plus two choice of side dishes: rice, mashed potatoes, roasted or steamed vegetables, etc. This is what tend to choose as the portions are enough for two meals. There is seating available which leads to my statement of it being quirky. While most of the patrons are there for take-out, you will often find the characters who work the streets of Times Square for pictures with tourists: The Incredible Hulk, Mikey and Minnie Mouse, Batman, Spiderman, etc. They are usually having a lunch break in the dining area and often only in partial costume. The food is very good, service is quick and character patrons are amusing.

Right next to our hotel, great breakfast place, not too expensive. Also has sandwiches, ygurt, snack items, etc. Love to watch the guys cook our eggs!

This restaurant is one block from Times Square. We got a recommendation from an NYPD officer while we were waiting for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade to start. We got breakfast here three days in a row because it is so good. With a large selection of pastries, bagels, cream cheeses, lox, cheese, etc., a quick breakfast is always good. Coffee, latte, espresso, etc. are all available. Plus, there's a large selection of deli meats and breads for a quick sandwich. And then there's the hot service. Bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, and pancakes are all aavailble made fresh. The lunch menu has a lot of different hot and cold sandwiches, although we ate only breakfast here. To sum up, it's good food, served fast, and a price that's 1/3 to 1/2 that of room service. The staff is working hard and gets the food to the customer quickly. (Be sure to leave a large tip for them.) From now on, when we're staying near Times Square and the theater district, this will be our breakfast place.

Food is average taste and a little bit pricey for the service and staff lack of professionalism. But these stuff couldn't be a problem if they bill you the right... In my case they ticket me $2 more in a account of $14... I became complain twice and they ignore me and at the end... they ticket all again 6.25 for my Ham & crossant (displayed at 5.25) and 3.75 a large coffee (2.75 in the menu).... they think that because you not are a native English speaker then you are bad in math... The bottom line is: Next door there is a more tasty, cheaper and with a lot of room in the second floor... and the most important they didn't think you are stupid!

Great for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Make your own pasta, oatmeal bar. We had both breakfast and lunch here. Corned beef and hash with eggs and a Rueben for lunch.

This is a very clean hole in the wall spot with lovely people and very reasonably priced basic food (bagels, soups, burgers).

Awesome short order breakfast, lunch or dinner. Fair priced, friendly staff and cooks. A real gem of a deli.

It was our go-to place for coffee and breakfast while staying at the Hotel St. James. It was literally next door. The coffee was good and the breakfast items they made were filling. The hash brown potatoes looked a little odd, but my husband ate them and said they were good. The staff there was friendly and fast.

This deli is great, lovely breakfasts cooked to order, sandwiches and a fab choice; friendly staff willing to help the poor english tourist get a handle on how and what to order!!!

Right next door to our hotel so made a perfect stop for a quick, tasty breakfast. Good prices. Tasty food - eggs, pancakes, cereal, fruits. Staff were friendly.

This is one of my FAVOURITE eating places in NYC!!!! I often find it overwhelming finding somewhere to eat just a light lunch in New York for a good price, its all restaurants and Starbucks! I came across this place with my friend and was enticed in with the smell of cooking. The staff in here are always SO FRIENDLY and the food is all freshly prepared in front of you and served hot! I love the delhi wraps they prepare! Its really reasonably priced! Although this place looks scruffy from the outside it is SUCH nice food and well worth the money! Its always busy with city workers in and out of here and you can see why when you try the food!!!

We had morning meals here 3 or 4 times during our NYC stay. Had egg & bacon or egg and ham bagel/sandwiches, freshly grilled, with Columbian coffee. Nothing special but was good enough for what it was.

We ate here most mornings very good value & the food is cooked in front of you, if you have a big appetite this is the place to go ! Bacon eggs & pancakes with syrup it's the best ! I'm a big tea drinker & I drank the English breakfast tea with skinny milk ( they have so many different milks in America) will definitely be eating here again on my next trip to NYC...

This is a small deli/grill place on the same block as the Hyatt Centric and St James hotels. It is hard to spot just now as the scaffolding from construction hides it, but the signage is visible from across the street. This is a place that you can appreciate if you understand what it is and what it is not. It does not have any ambience. In fact, it has negative ambience. Old fixtures and a well used look inside and out. Plastic utensils and plastic plates/containers rule here. Condiments are the little packet variety. On the plus side, the staff is very efficient and friendly and the food is generally good. I had a standard breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns, with a large coffee for under $10. A very good deal in NYC. Note that you order at the grill from the guy at the white counter space, then go pack and pay for the order at the cashier at front and get a drink there as well. THEN, go back and wait for the order to be completed. When you are in a hurry, want to eat with a budget in mind and want decent food, this is the place in that neighborhood.

You could almost miss it if you didn’t know it was there. I came across this place after reading reviews for places to eat near times square for breakfast, so thought would give it a try. They have a great menu (almost too many choices) at reasonable prices, and really enjoyed most of the food we ordered. Would definitely come back here again if in the area.

The place was full of superhero s when we walked in. They were on their way to times square. The staff were friendly, the service was good as was the food. Eat in or take away, as we did as our hotel was just next door

Staying near here, and stopped in here for dinner - the food was very basic but excellent for the price - had a salad, and a wrap and liked both. Interestingly, this seems to be the place where the "characters" from Times Square come to eat or get out of the cold. Was interesting to see them out of their costumes (or heads).

Travellers might pass by Dunhill on their way from 5th & 6th Avenue, but rather than searching for an expensive chain restaurant in nearby Times Square, do pop in- it's cheap and service is speedy. The cafe seems to fall under the radar of tourists, unfairly, but a good way to judge a New York eatery's merits is to observe whether locals use it. They do- businesspeople run in for coffee and a bagel on the go, and Times Square workers such as TKTS assistants and performance artists sit in for a casual, pressure-free lunch. Don't be fooled into thinking that Dunhill is merely a coffee shop though- there's actually a huge array of dishes available. During the day, special 'combo' deals are available- for example, buy any sandwich, and get a bowl of soup for $2 (the soups, by the way, are delicious). It's a shame that this place almost gets pushed aside by its more flashy and ostentatious neighbour Cranberry Cafe- but its downfall, and my only criticism, is that it is only open until mid-evening. Late-night opening is essential on Times Square and with it, Dunhill could easily amass an army of followers looking for good quality post-theatre meals. A special mention must go to the turkey and emmental croissants, the Black Forest ham quiche, and the Italian Wedding soup, packed with orzo and meatballs.

Right next door to Hotel st james where we were staying. Went here every morning for breakfast. Wow this place is busy but it's got all you need for a good quality breakfast to set you up for the day or a coffee and bagel to go.

Looking for a good place to have breakfast found this one in the same street I was staying. At a great price all american breakfast

Enjoyed great breakfast and take out coffees etc. right next door to Hotek St James where we stayed. Would definitely recommend

This is a very good place to have your breakfast. It's not an expensive place , and they will fix any kind of breakfast you like . Definitely a recommendation

The look outside does not invite you to come in. Inside also kind of old. But I guess that is NYC. The pies are awesome, with homemade taste. Prices are fair. If you are nearby and looking for a cafe, stop by.

A little diner with fast service and fair prices. Huge selection og breakfast and lunch. Everything made fresh. Loved the sandwiches.

This cafe was right next door to our hotel and was a great way to start the day. Staff were always pleasant and helpful and the food was lovely. We had breakfast a number of times and called in later in the day for snacks too. Prices were good and my personal reccommendation would be either the Black Forest ham quiche or the bagels with cream cheese and lox (salmon). My friends favourite was the chicken and cheese croissant. It is always great to see locals using somewhere to eat too and usually gives you a good sign that the food and service is good. The only downside for us was that it shuts quite early on an evening but apart from that a lovely little place.

We stayed at the Hotel St. James right next door and needed a breakfast place that had good basic food. We discovered this place on our second day in NYC and from that point on for the next ten days, ate breakfast here. We were creatures of habit and had the same breakfast sandwich with our coffee. The crew was so responsive that they just started making the meal and pouring our coffee when they saw us walk through the door! Good food, attentive service, a great place to start the day. We've traveled a bit since our NYC trip and Dunhill has become the standard by which we judge our morning breakfast!

Traditional American Breakfast and lunch! Great buffet and very clean, the staff were dull but the rest was fab!😃

Great for a quick bite. A cream cheese bagel at $3 off time square - great stuff! I’d maybe go elsewhere for coffee though.

The concierge at our hotel recommended Dunhill Café for a quick breakfast/early lunch. They serve breakfast all day, but charge an additional $0.50 for breakfast items after 11:00 AM. Our party of 6 ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch and everything was absolutely delicious! The prices were very reasonable for NYC and the portion sizes were on the large size, so it was a great value. My bacon, egg and cheese on an English muffin was fantastic and my coffee with cream and sugar was prepared just the way I like it. My daughter's pancakes were so good and my son loved his cheeseburger and fries. My dad ordered the steak and cheese, and it was huge! It could definitely be shared. They were switching from breakfast to lunch while we were there and the create your own pasta looked amazing. Lots of choices! We walked back over there the next morning for coffee, juices and pastries to take back to the hotel. I really wish we had discovered this place earlier in our trip, I probably would have gone every day!

Good for snacks and soft drinks, tea and coffee.Friendly staff and right next to hotel.Had variety of cooked food too.

We stopped in here to get something to eat while visiting New York City. The food was very good and tasty and they are very friendly to work with. We ordered the chef salad it was a lot of food and very tasty.

As this deli was just down from our hotel we ate here twice. And both times were not disappointed! For under $10 I had a toasted panini and hot soup- sizes were large and food was fresh. We went about 7pm on a weeknight and were able to sit down to eat- there are a few chairs and tables. If you are on a budget but want something hearty to fill you, this place is perfect.

We wanted typical american breakfast and that is what we got. Tastes brilliant and the coffee can give any of the biggies a run for their money.

We wanted a typical NYC diner for breakfast on our first morning and this was convenient being just off Times Square. It’s quite basic but serves up freshly cooked food quickly. I had bacon with scrambled eggs (omelette) plus a couple of wedges of French toast and a cappuccino. Whilst not out of the ordinary, it was decent and inexpensive

Went there for breakfast and again for lunch the next day with the wife. Just down the street from the Hyatt. Prices were reasonable, and were actually posted and accurate; I have an issue with tourist places either not posted prices or not charging what is posted. Food was excellent and service was good. Just an FYI if you are eating with kids many of the times square street performers (Elmo, Mickey Mouse, Spiderman) eat there. So if you do not want your little one to see Elmo with his costume head off might want to look elsewhere.

My wife and I stopped in here en route to Times Square for breakfast while staying at the nearby Hotel Roosevelt further down the street. Although unassuming from the outside - and inside, for that matter - the cafe was clean with plenty of space for eating-in as well as a long service counter, largely used by local workers grabbing their breakfast or coffee on the go. Between us we had the fried eggs with corned beef hash and my wife had eggs and bacon with waffles and syrup on the side - if you haven't tried it, do so! Reasonably priced for so close to Times Square, good food, choice and service.

This is a great deli type location for very good breakfasts. We have been there before (one year ago) and really liked the quality of the breakfast preparation right in front of us. They use real eggs and choices of regular bacon or turkey bacon and three types of sausages and home fries that are fresh not re-heated frozen variety. Coffee is exceptionally good!

Our first morning in New York and we wanted a typical New York breakfast. The various food on offer was good and freshly prepared

we went here several times over our five day stay for brunch and even took sandwichs for the airport they were that nice.
Good food, coffee could be better!
Excellent selection for meals at any time of the day. Highly recommend the pancakes. The coffee though could have been better!
