good comfort food

By marshallsteeves |

good comfort food such as hamburgers, sandwiches and omelets. Popular with locals as a cheaper alternative to other UES restaurants.

A little diner on the UES

By GMBG |

Over 30 years ago, I work in this neighborhood. Eat Here Now was place we would frequently visit for lunch. Good diner food served quickly and reasonably priced. I found myself in the old nave and decided it was time to check in. Familiar face but a bit shop worn. It showed its age (I probably do too). But the food was good. Served quickly and reasonably priced for one of the most expensive areas in NYC. It was nice to return. I’ll be back.

Check it out!

By ShopoholicWpg |

We were walking around and found this restaurant. They have their TripAdvisor certificate in the window, so we though sure why not try it. The food was served while it was still hit. My husband have the Philly Steak with fried and I had the Western with fries. My husband liked his food so much, he's still talking about hoe good it was. The venue is vast, so there is something for everyone. For us it was better than the Carnegie Deli.

Great food with an at-home feeling

By RickNewY0rk |

I love this place. This Greek diner serves a wonderful Greek salad -- crisp veggies and a tasty dressing. What's even bettter: the warm service. The waitress remembered where I had sat the last time I was there (which was the first time) and remembered that I wanted the dressing on the side. She made me feel like a regular. I'm going back.

A great diner

By macorzo2016 |

This is a place to come for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service is fast and courteous and friendly. The food is of good quality and the prices are4 acceptable. Nothing spectacular; just good food, good diner quality

Wonderful Diner

By MottTheHoop |

We were looking for a place to eat after a long day. Eat Here Now was the perfect place to stop. I had a gyros plate that was wonderful. Highly recommended.

excellent breakfast-lunch spot

By sue47sue |

I am a frequent flyer here and I've never been dissatisfied. The food plus the quality and speed of service are consistently great. It's a small-ish diner with a very friendly crew; they are very good at what they do here.

Name, caught my eye

By Andrew F |

Was passing by and looking for a place for brunch, with the family. Service was great, food was good and nice size portions (had GF bread). Prices seemed high to me, not being a local, but not much higher than any other place I ate at, over the weekend.

Really good and great service!

By CMM65 |

Was looking for a good corned beef sandwich and some matzo ball soup since my usual favorite was closed for renovation. It was outstanding, actually the best I've had in years! My husband had a Reuben that was equally good. Also fast service and fair price. Loved our waitress...wish I remembered her name. I asked her if the corned beef was good...said she'd guarantee I'd like it. She didn't lie! Families and other people around us seemed happy and food looked good. Will definitely go back!

A Good Upscale Coffee Shop/Diner Type Restaurant

By ScoopTraveler |

Good food at reasonable prices in a pricey neighborhood. Excellent service. Freshly made to order. Excellent of its kind. Appetizing. A relaiable choice in a neighborhood that offers mainly shi-shi restaurants at inflated prices.

Good Breakfast

By Bourlingueur |

We stopped for breakfast at Eat Here Now last week. We had standard breakfast food and it was all good. My eggs were lukewarm, but ok. Our server was very nice. We enjoyed talking with her.

An old-fashioned diner in New York City

By cranberries0928 |

If you're looking for all-day breakfast or an old-fashioned American sandwich with a harried but friendly wait staff, this is the place. Let the hipsters have their artisanal seven grain bread; this is the kind of menu that hasn't changed since the 40's, and that was fine with us.

Great place for breakfast

By RTJD |

We found this little gem on our the first day of our trip and returned to eat here again as it was so good. I had a ham and cheese omelette, which was great and my boyfriend had the eggs and corned beef hash, which he loved. The service is great, very friendly and welcoming (particularly for us uninitiated tourists). This would be my first stop on any return trip; highly recommended.

Best Breakfast I had in NYC

By Daniel N |

There is a really good atmosphere in this place. Many good options for breakfasts. Highly recommended.

Breakfast heaven

By barry t |

This charming small eatery offers great value, a warm welcome and a very good offering of well presented food!!! The waitress who served us has been there 20 years so it shows that the place has a good local customer base and really welcomes you

been there done that

By ladymelvin |

a simple... but not an investment dinner,,, but ab fab... my go to place... when too tired to go to the fancy place...

Hard boiled

By LCO |

A sort of a diner, so in principle the kind of place I should adore. Unfortunately the food preparation is not accurate and my eggs Benedikt were hard boiled with a not very tasteful scuce.

Deeeeeelicous

By frequenttravel13 |

Ate here over the weekend with my kids. Service is friendly and sooooo fast. We had a burger, a BLT, and the chicken and rice soup. The food was delicious and the staff was outstanding. We will go again!

Clean and bright diner with good food!

By Bi-coaster |

We had an early lunch in this small diner/cafe on the Upper East Side. My spouse ordered a grilled bacon and cheese sandwich and was very happy with it. I got the tuna melt on an English muffin with a side salad instead of fries. The salad was huge and good with ripe tomatoes, cucumber slices and green pepper on the greens. The muffin halves were topped with mounds of tuna salad and then the cheese. It could have been warmer, but was a tasty rendition. Service was attentive. Glad we tried it!

Great for a breakfast Manhattan.

By PhilPick |

We are two English couples who stayed at the Affina Gardens 64th street and we're looking for breakfast nearby on our 3 day NY stay. This restaurant was perfect , food ideal for our requirements with lovely staff, blonde girl particularly, who looked after us each morning. Having never previously visited NY we felt as though we were tasting true NY experience. THANKYOU.

A plethora of choices

By Youssef N |

One of the largest menus in NY, covering a wide variety of cuisines. Yet most items are well made. Prices are quite reasonable and the service is prompt, friendly and efficient. Somewhat noisy.

Great diner near central park

By Mom23lads |

We chose this diner based on reviews and proximity to central park on a day of exploring the area. This is an obvious traditional NYC institution. I felt like a local here. Great to people- watch the residents go by in this upscale neighborhood. Service was kind and efficient and food was amazing. There are so many options on the menu! My son had some questions and special requests and they had no problem with them. Best value we could find in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.

Do NOT Eat Here Now

By Daisygirla123 |

My daughters and I were very hungry after exiting Central Park and this is one of the first places we saw. The owners and waitresses were very friendly but the chicken strip baskets($13.95) that my daughters ordered were bland and overcooked and were the worst chicken strips we have ever had. The whole meal cost me $37.00 and wasn't even worth $10.00. My worst meal while in NYC...

Good breakfast spot.

By Gene-Trvls |

A nice eatery close to the Park. Outdoor seating. Prompt attentive service. Good coffee, espresso, cappuccino. Healthy omelettes. On a second visit, waitress remember our orders from previous day.

Great diner and fab food!

By Catherine885 |

We ate here twice for breakfast in the last couple of days and the food was lovely. The waitresses are so friendly and helpful. We had the special breakfast deals and would recommend them as they are good value and couldn’t fault the portion sizes or standard of food. The smoked salmon bagel is a huge portion. My son loved the cheese toastie with bacon A great find and we will definitely be back when we visit New York again. There was a homeless old lady outside who they looked after which was very touching.

Great for Breakfasts

By JTaySAFC |

Stumbled upon this place on way to Central Park. Really good for breakfasts - the corned beef hash with eggs and home fries was delicious and saw me full well into the evening. The atmosphere was good and the staff super friendly. Obviously have a strong local clientele which is always a good sign. Highly recommended for breakfast.

SKIP this Dirty Place

By review1865 |

Travelers GO ELSEWHERE! Its best to be objective when doing reviews. IN this case due to the hgygiene of the man with white hair and dressed all in black in the evening hours it is important to remember that perhaps the city does inspections too infrequently. Perhaps the owner has not a clue as to what goes on in this establishment?WHY? Because his employee's brute nature, his dirty hands, his coarse coughing over the food and his unkempt attire and behavior (including stamping out a roach with his shoe and then picking it up instead of sweeping it) left you wondering is that the same hand he just carried the fook in with? The nature of food is that cleanliness is key. Pass this place up.

Eat Here Now (no really do)

By mrtymar |

What a great little diner with a wonderful staff. The food was excellent and the wait staff could not be more friendly or accomodating. Lots of locals come to this place as it was evident by the greetings that they would get as they walked in. It's a really great breakfast place at a reasonable price.

Quick breakfast

By archman8 |

Stopped in for a quick breakfast. Friendly attentive waitstaff. Delicious omelet. Fresh coffee. Comfortable seating. Feels safe during Covid-times.

Really lovely food

By Terry H |

We (dad, son & daughter) were in NYC for just a few days and found this place by chance as we were wandering on the Upper East Side. We really fancied having a burger in a family-orientated place. This seemed ideal. We went Wednesday 26 October 2016, about 1PM. The place was really busy (a good sign!) and we ordered our burgers. Friendly service, quick, and the food was excellent. A great find.

Good for breakfast

By Alfredo8074 |

My favorite joint for breakfast. Have been going there for years. The service is good and fast. They treat you well. We had fried eggs with corn beef hash - well cooked and delicious. With french fries. Worth every penny of it.

Decent Eatery on Upper East Side

By Readrun |

My friends and I were in search of a lunch place and happened to walk past Eat Here Now. We were impressed by the expansive menu- they offer breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, entree dishes etc. The restaurant is a good size and waitstaff is friendly. I had the veggie burger which was just okay, nothing special. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. It was not the best meal and there are certainly better places, but I would come back here for a casual meal.

good food, friendly staff

By Natalie_K |

I really liked it and I will definitely come back - good coffee, good breakfast and really friendly staff

Basic food - bad service experience

By Mamelie58 |

Food is correct. Not outstanding but not bad, small room, relaxed atmosphere, convenient location. The waiter was so-so but became rude when it came to paying. We asked him if we could pay the tip in cash and pay the food/drinks/etc. by debit card. He barked back (without replying to our question) we must pay for the tip - which of course we know. So we gave the tip in cash, he took it, mumbled something to his female colleague behind the counter but it seems he did not tell her that the tip was already given. She took the debit card, withdrew the whole thing + tip. So we payed a double (and firsthand generous) tip and it was too late to get it back... And surprisingly, the waiter was not around when we told we gave the tip in cash... This could have been an "unlucky" misunderstanding, but with a waiter that rude, this is a place we won't recommend :)

Friendly diner

By James F |

We loved this place on our short visit to NY. Nice varied menu, great service with a smile and a laugh. Tends to get quite busy for breakfast so maybe not good if you are in a rush. Highly recommended!

Hygiene-sensitive : avoid

By denisbenny |

Sitting there with 2 friends waiting for our brunch reservation at a nearby restaurant, we sat at the bar for coffees for about an hour and witnessed what no one wants to know: how waitresses prepare whatever the kitchen guys don't. Example: the waitress picking up fruit with bare (ungloved) hands to prepare your very healthy fruit salad and picking her nose minutes after, with a suspicious rash on her upper lip... yum !

Great short order diner

By JC-UK-99 |

Popped in for breakfast. Was like being in a 70's TV show... Down to 2 x cops coming in & getting coffee & pastries to go. Fast, fine, friendly. Went twice. First one, the bill had the $ total on the back, I turned the bill over & taxes & service charge were included. Second time, the waitress said (after I'd put the cash down) "the tip isn't there, you should leave $4 as well. That felt a bit rough being told out loud in the presence of other tables, but the service was fine, so we paid it. As a tourist, just check your bill before you pay it.

The place to eat, brilliant and thanks for making us feel welcome.

By MoffatTribe |

We stayed in New York for a week and we visited this diner everyday for breakfast (because we were made to feel at home and so welcome). Food was lovely, and the people were so friendly they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Our server Debra what can I say one of he loveliest ladies I have met in my life, I'll always have a place for her in my heart...thanks from your Scottish family x Try the omelette ... amazing ..ham and American cheese of course with white toast and some of the best coffee I have ever had! Pancakes and waffles oh lush! Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel mmmm The prices all reasonable worth every penny. Well done to you all, lovely place I'll be back one day thank you for making us all so welcome. Love from rainy Scotland

Overcharged

By ConallL292 |

I ate here 3 days running and picked up the bill two of these days. I got billed 6 times on my debit card. The food and ambience was good but now I have to spend an hour or two sorting this out. They have no email address and I live in Ireland and phone calls will add much more to my cost of sorting it.

Always visiting this restaurant for breakfast

By Alfredo8074 |

It's near our location when we visit the City, so we have been going there for many years. The service is always very good, the attendants have been there for a long time and are very pleasant. They make you feel at home. The menu is too long, but for breakfast we always order the same. Organic eggs with bacon and or corned beef , oj, coffee, and off you go to start your day. Prices have gone up, maybe some 20% or more, but if you want a well cooked meal early in the morning, this is the place to go. Recommend it for families in large booths.

keep looking for another place to eat

By christopher b |

terrible terrible service. waitress never refilled drinks and was on her phone the whole time, I had to call her over and even then it would take 5 minutes for her to help me. my burger was alright but dang expensive. pass this place up

Impressive

By abarasol |

All four of us were very pleased with our lunch. Didn’t expect much, but left happy. Burger, two wraps and a salad were all decent.

Don’t order a Ruben or omelette or coffee or ...

By Rafael |

This place is at the low end of the range for dinners ! Unless it is the only place open ... which is never the case ..... go up the block, or down the block, or a block east , or a block west ...

Friendly Neighborhood Breakfast Place

By opalstream |

Whenever in NYC this is where you will find my husband and I at breakfast time. The efficient welcoming staff are a big part of the experience for us. The menu is vast and filled with healthy and comfort ingredients both. The coffee is excellent, the omelettes hearty, The old fashioned diner decor is just right.

Typical New York Diner

By MF C |

Eat Here Now is a diner located at the start of the Upper East Side. Like most NY diners it offers a wide selection of entrees, sandwiches, salads, deserts and so much more. The food is fresh and the venue clean. This is a place you stop at when you're in a rush and want to get back to whatever you're doing in the area. You wouldn't go out of your way to dine here. It's also a good place if all you want is cup of coffee or a snack or you're waiting for someone and killing time.

Unfortunately Just Average

By McPherson9 |

My wife and i ate in here with our baby girl had lunch in here one day on our recent trip to NYC. We left a little disappointed, my burger was actually very good but my wifes food was actually not that nice and she hardly ate any of it. The service though was excellent an they could not have been any nicer with our little girl.

Real New York!!!

By Mary O |

Loved this place. Mixture of locals and tourists. Pancakes to die for. Ordered tea and got water and orange juice as well!!! Waitresses working so hard with smiles on their faces and welcome for all. A taste of real New York.

Pass it and don't eat here, expensive, not friendly, average food.

By Yves te Poel |

We thought it was a cheap nice small restaurant but it’s actually expensive. It’s old with only one (not that clean) toilet. We had 2 omelettes, orange juice and 2 cappuccino. The bill was over 55 Dollars. The bill was unreadably handwritten and absolutely not clear.
You do not have a choice to give a tip they force you to pay this service fee and also add some sort of extra taxes (rounded amount). It felt like we ripped off. The food was average and after all pretty expensive for what you get. Not worth the money, wouldn't go back. Absolutely won’t recommend this place.

Good Lunch Great pleasant service

By Troy S |

We stopped in for a late lunch with one very tired Kid. I assume it was the owner recognized this and turned it into one our most memorable lunches! Thanks for making our day. Highly recommend for the attentive caring staff. Lunch was great

Great breakfast, great people

By PembrokePines_travel |

We really loved our time at Eat Here Now. So much that it became our breakfast place during our stay. Thank you to the servers for being so gracious. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was really very good.

Not worth it

By MattClaire097 |

Huge portions of heavy and tasteless mediocre food. Ambiance is ok, very busy during weekends. There is no reason to eat here, I make much better omelettes my self.

Charming Diner, Authentic NYC Experience

By Kristen C |

Fantastic local joint. My family has been coming here for years and the food is always plentiful and the staff is super welcoming and charming! Lots of regulars as well. If you're looking for a cozy place to eat while supporting an immigrant, family-owned business-- this is the place. Given that you're eating on the UES, the prices here are very reasonable. I'm so excited to get back to this restaurant once quarantine lifts. It really lives up to its name-- eat here now!

Cordial service, pleasant simple food

By astickne |

Highly recommended location inthe neighborhood, great for an early morning coffee and newspaper stop.

Great food and quick service at a reasonable price

By Kevin C |

Looking for a good and affordable breakfast on the Upper East Side? Look no further. Travel to the corner of Lexington and E 64th to stop at this diner. The service was excellent. We were greeted by a very friendly staff that we were really helpful. The menu had so many options but I would highly recommend getting the breakfast. Once we ordered the food came within what felt like a few minutes as if the chef already knew what we were going to order. The portion size kept me full until dinner and once the check came I thought our waitress had left a meal off but no it was that cheap. Only $50 for food and drinks for 3 people. If you haven't been here and are in the city, give this diner a try. I know that I will be back here whenever I'm in the city.

Return during COVID 19 pandemic

By Allan S |

Outside tables on lexington Avenue offers new experience. Food was quite good with burger charcoal grilled with red onions. Pleasant service and fair prices. Offers good lunch choice

Good food, good service

By Alexandra T |

The food here is decent but not great. It is a small restaurant that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Favorite Diner Ever!

By Takidra Young |

Food is amazing. Staff is friendly and so quick. I go at least 3 times everytime i'm in NYC. I love this place. Family friendly, definitely a "locals" spot. Try the Salmon Bennie.

Average diner food

By HSi |

Stopped by for breakfast, food was average, omelet a bit over cooked, on the small side for an omelet, but certainly enough to eat. Service was super fast and efficient..in and out within 30 minutes.

Great American diner near the zoo

By Michael E |

We walked here from the zoo for lunch. The place represents all that is good about American diners. Food was good and plentiful, active and busy but not too busy, and the staff was great - our waitress was amazingly friendly. We’ll definitely be back when we return to Manhattan.

Comfort food! Light and bright

By Ohmyliz |

The food and service are consistent at Eat Here Now. The folks are cheery and the food comes fairly fast. It is a good location, clean and the menu has lots of choices. The only down side is that it is pricey for a diner, which is to be expected in the area. The food did come out fresh and my coffee was refilled often. I gave a good tip because I had to wait a long time for a friend. I had breakfast at lunch. I think that it would be more cost-effective to have breakfast at breakfast time. One thing also about price is to be aware of the add-on's. Overall it is a consistent place to get comfort food. It's one of the few diners left that keeps the authentic diner style food without being pretentious. You can eat fairly healthy if you have the impetus.

Typical Diner

By MannyG2000 |

Conveniently located for the lower Upper East Side. Offers the usual diner fare. Stick to more basic fare. Hollandaise sauce wasn't very good, but pancakes and sandwiches ok.

Bustling NY Diner with Good Food

By ChinadollRVC |

We found Eat Here Now after getting off the Roosevelt Island tram on our way to the Roosevelt twin townhouses on E 65th. No city does diners better than my hometown NYC, and Eat Here Now does the tradition proud. Since we arrived around 11:30 we were hovering between breakfast and lunch. My husband opted for a scrambled egg sandwich with turkey bacon on a bagel, and I went in the direction of lunch with TLT, turkey bacon, lettuce and tomato on whole wheat toast. Both were excellently prepared. Our server, I believe a young Russian woman, was very friendly and attentive without being overly solicitous. We were cold and hungry when we walked in and warm and happy when we left. A real keeper on Lex, enjoy!

Great Food, Great Hospitality

By Blueboy5197 |

We popped into here during a walk around New York and glad we did. The host is constantly on the go in this compact little diner/restaurant with a permanent smile and always willing to help you. The food is great (and hot) at a very reasonable price by New York standards. Well worth a visit

Average -- "No bathroom"

By robcurtross |

I stopped for brunch at Eat Here Now as part of my afternoon hike. The restaurant is long and narrow with many tables, a short counter, and, hard to believe, no restrooms. Service was prompt and very friendly. At the recommendation of my waitress, I tried the meatloaf special, which was surprisingly good.

Fantastic service and food!

By kigo2016 |

We were looking for a place to eat lunch with our ten and seven year old kids. This was the perfect spot. The server was really awesome- super attentive to the details and so careful with my celiac husband’s needs. The food was hot and the portions were very large and delicious. Highly recommend and thanks to the staff for a great lunch!

Okay Breakfast near Central Park

By megamooo2010 |

Service was good, food just okay. Not a fan of the canned mushrooms in our omelette. Had much better breakfasts during our visit.

Great food

By Abora C |

I really liked the food, and it's a cozy place to eat, and not very expensive, I highly recommend it

Good eggs

By SLIPER |

The service is good they all have a great personality nice size dishes good tasting eggs its a great start to the day enjoy

Old style diner

By Chris |

We were walking on Lexington in Upper East Side. We found this authentic American diner on 64th Str corner. A typical institution with a simple bright decor, large bay windows, huge mirrors, a long wood bar, tan vinyl booths, quaint furniture. Dining-room was packed with regulars. However our busy waitress served us rapidly standard hearty local food, omelette sausage burgers pastrami sandwich fries. Plus waffles and pancakes with blueberries

What a fab find!

By Kirstlees73 |

What a fab find! A typical American diner with a Greek twist. Staff where fab and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our server Barbara was so nice and made you feel right at home! Food we had was brill, my hubby struggled to eat all his

Dinner with a local feel , good service and good food

By Adramca |

We found this dinner walking around NYC. definintely a local's place, the food is Good and the prices are reasonable. The best thing is that they treat you as if the knew you already! I would recommend it to have a nice/quiet Meal with a local feel in NYC

I don't think I'd come back here

By Sherry M |

My friends and I came here and there were 3 people in total working here including the 1 man in the kitchen. This very small place had only two other groups there eating. We were sat down next to the bathroom and were given these huge menus. We were also then given silverware. My silverware and three of my other friends had food remnants left on them. Our waitress was Russian with a thick accent and was hard to understand but I don't really hold that against them. My complaint is she didn't know the menu all that well. I ordered an egg with white toast and sausage. That came out 10 minutes later, a fine amount of time. My egg was unseasoned and you can tell the toast had been stale. I was supposed to also receive a hash of potatoes but the plate instead had a small pile of unsalted fries. I asked why and the waitress said they were out of hash. I believe she should have told me that before I ordered that. So my review synopsis is that I wouldn't come back here.

Great Find

By swaggerman02 |

Found this place around the corner from our hotel the last morning of our 3 day stay in NYC. We like to frequent diners when traveling, and this had the look of a good one...crowded with waitstaff busily tending to one table after another. We were seated with no waiting, getting the last 2 top. In summary, the food was very good...eggs, sausage, home fries and toast for me and a Belgian waffle for my wife. The best part is the quick, efficient and super friendly service! Deborah has worked here 20 years and takes care of you like she owns the place, but she doesn't! Always smiling, she said she really enjoys her job and it shows. We will surely again eat here now in the future!

friendly service and great breakfast

By fgr62 |

diner-type breakfast food with a smile. Omelettes, waffles and pancakes are delicious. Just what one wants before embarking on a day of walking around NY.

Complete Garbage.

By Recustomer |

One of the worst places ever in New York. Minimum charge per person. What a joke. Especially these times where everybody is closing. Yesterday's sweets.

Great Breakfasts and ever better staff?

By oktopus72 |

Stumbled across this little diner by chance 4 years ago and been every year since,on our annual NY trip. Great choice of tasty breakfasts at a bargain price. The staff, which have been the same on every visit are friendly and helpful and very New York and make the place what it is.

Watch out for bill

By O1407B |

Quick family breakfast. They include tip in the bill and then bring it back for signature like tip was not included.....not nice to feel like your in a tourist trap....for this reason will not go back.

Typical diner fare

By RL987654 |

Crowded Upper East Side Diner. Cramped and small. Very crowded by the locals. Good standard diner fare. Nice omelettes. Good fresh coffee. Extremely friendly and efficient service.

Good breakfast

By Benjamin |

We had there severaltimes breakfast. It felt typical american and the waiter were always really friendly and the food fresh and authentic

Good people, fast, and friendly

By DDS10021 |

This is the way corner dinners use to be. Authentic even down to the 2 X 2 foot bathroom. I've been coming here since the 1980s and it still feels like the neighborhood hang out that my father took me to. Ask for Jack (one of the owners) to make his secret Dr Wayne Caesar salad dressing. Add chicken breast and allow about 30 minutes. Pure heaven. It's not on the menu and he won't share the receipt with the line cooks. But it's worth the wait if you can find him. He's usually there weekdays. Jack was formally trained at the Culinary Institute of America, but he's very humble about it.

Worst diner food ever!

By Tahir K |

They give diners a bad reputation! Came in here with some business colleagues for a lunch. The place was half empty but they insisted we sit at the bar, they could see we wanted to sit at a table but they didn't seem to care, so the 3 of us sat uncomfortably in our suits on bar stools. Everything extremely overpriced for a diner. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe which they swore was the best burger in NY, it was more like the worst burger I've ever had, basically a frozen patty, on a dry burger bun. The fries were okay but barely enough to feed a small child. My colleagues had the BLT and the chicken sandwich, also extremely disappointed. shocked that the check was over $60 for a crappy lunch for 3 people! Avoid at all cost!

Good Solid Diner

By Jan P |

Small restaurant in mid-town and pretty much your typical diner experience. We came here for breakfast and ordered the Belgian waffle and Western omelette. Both entrees were good. Service is fast and efficient and with a smile. Our coffee mugs and water glasses were always being refilled. You could tell this establishment has regular patrons because while we were dining, several people (couples, families, etc) came in and the waitstaff welcomed them by name. I like that in a restaurant.

a real special NYC experience

By Mark L |

If you want to feel like a local, this is the place to go on the upper east side (UES)...we used to live in the area and hadn't been there in several years, but the waitresses remembered us and the food is generous and tasty...go for breakfast ...you won't be disappointed

Excellent breakfast

By robcurtross |

An almost classic New York diner, except that it runs lengthwise along the street rather than deep into the building. The many windows give it a very light and airy feeling. The wait staff are excellent, very friendly, very helpful. It appears to appeal to families – a number of kids here for breakfast. Food was normal standard for the better diners in New York City. Cleanliness was acceptable.

Small place but fast service

By Bugqueen |

We popped in for breakfast. This place was packed and they moved people in and out quickly. It is small and loud so if looking for a place to relax this is not it! The food was just average but it came fast ...no waiting around! The server was friendly and our coffee cup was never empty. We enjoyed listening to the locals chatting with their strong accents.

Good food, fast service.

By catlkh |

Stopped here for late breakfast/early lunch. The hot pastrami sandwich and fries were excellent. The pancakes and bacon were good. Service was fast and friendly. I'd recommend it for basic diner food.

Good but not great

By tweedybird26 |

This spot is handy and close to many subway lines. The menu is not as big as most diners but there should be something for everyone. Our server was friendly and prompt and the owner was very friendly. All in all, ok for something simple but don't push it!

Friendly Diner with Good Food

It's a diner, nothing artisanal or farm to table about it, though you can get GF or organic items for a bit of a mark up. What sets this diner apart is the staff, who (on several visits) were uniformly pleasant, efficient and friendly (not a fuggetaboutit to be heard). The food is good, pancakes, waffles and omelettes all done competently, if nothing out of the ordinary. But, that was what we were after. Prices are very reasonable given its location (less than half of the bill at the hotel). So, if you want a simple, quick breakfast in a friendly setting, give it a try.

Eat Here Now....Do it!

By Carolinesc7 |

We wandered into Eat Here Now, and used it to plan our day over breakfast. Great little diner. Prices seemed typical for NYC. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I enjoyed my breakfast sandwich, and hot coffee. Great, cozy little place!!

I am a regular for breakfast

By Alfredo8074 |

If you are looking for a hearty breakfast such as fried eggs with corned beef hash and home cook potatoes, this is the place to go to. Coffee is good, the service is excellent and fast. Good orange juice too. Prices have gone up and the tab for two runs up to $40, so it's not cheap, but well worth it.

Good breakfast

By Alfredo8074 |

This is a must stop when you are visiting mid Manhattan particularly for breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, waffles, orange juice and coffee are all available and prepared quickly for you. the service is very good with the waitresses knowing the regulars because they have been there for years. The owner sits in a corner and watches everything in the restaurant. We have been going there for years, but prices have gone up a lot. A breakfast for two now exceed $30, too much money for a simple breakfast.

Great find for breakfast. We loved it. Debra is FAB!

By AlisonPenn |

This is a gem of a place. Great location. Lovely breakfast. Great service. Good food. Very reasonable. Little bit dated but that added to its charm. Debra is a diamond of a lady. We were there three mornings of our 4 day trip and enjoyed it every time. Coffee is also great. We also had dinner there one night. Fab !

No other better for breakfast in NYC

By Alfredo8074 |

Once again in New York and for breakfast we always go to this restaurant in midtown. It's a simple diner with good food and good service. Pancakes and wafles are great with reasonable portions that one can share. Equally, all dishes with eggs such as western omelettes and fried eggs. The coffee is pretty good and orange juice is fresh. We highly recommend this restaurant.

It's a diner, a good diner

By Peter B |

open early, frequented by regulars, friendly staff, all the usual stuff ... you won't be sorry with anything you order and oh, by the way, if you have a chance try some dessert (especially the carrot cake)....

Good food and a great find

By Matthew S |

We were in NYC for one week. This place is not great to look at and the name put us off. We decided to try it on the second from last day. The food is fine, but what made it great was its main waitress. She really made us feel at home. After eating in several restaurant's for breakfast I can honestly say this was a rare treat. We visited again the next day and she remembered us and what we ordered...wish we had walked in on day one.

Great fast breakfast place

By irishockey |

While waiting for a table at Alice's Tea Cup around the corner, my husband saw no wait here...so we really got to Eat here Now! Great breakfast quickly with good selection.

Fantastic Diner on the upper east side!

By Kevin - Darlene... H |

In an era when diners are on the decline, this place is safe! The maître'D and wait staff are excellent, they often have a full house. We have been going here for approx. 10 years and have never had a bad meal! They always remember us even when we have not been in for a month or so. Breakfast is great, burgers are great and hot open sandwiches are delicious as well. Stop in and grab a bite before you hop on the train!

Affordable in a high rent district

By Donna C |

Nothing to rave about. It's decent food at a decent price. Great waitress. Horrible bathroom, which seems par for the course in NYC.

Great Breakfast Spot

By Emmelou7467 |

My husband and I stumbled onto this place on the way to the MET last year. Breakfast was good, especially the hash browns. The place is small but feels very cozy and lots of natural light. We are going back to NYC this week and are taking our sons.

Overcooked everthing..was hopeful but disappointed

By Tiny_Bubbles007 |

Had heard good things but boy, super disappointed. Had a spinach, tomato and bacon omelet that as tasteless and way overcooked - brown. The accompanying home fried potatoes were mushy but burned on the bottom. The saving grace was the rye toast I ordered to go with. My friend had a chicken wrap that was really good but wouldn't go there just for that. Others around us were having burgers and fries that looked great. One woman mentioned her blueberry pancakes were good. Not handicap friendly. Tight tables and steps to get into restaurant. Street parking.

This is the place for a quick breakfast when in midtown New York.

By Alfredo8074 |

The quality of the food is great and the service can't be better. The waitresses have been there a long time and take excellent care of their customers. We love it to walk in, greet everybody and have a cup of coffee and order from the varios breakfast specials they offer, The fried eggs over medium with corned beef hash is very good, as well as pancakes and waffles. Well worth the visit.

Great for good diner food!

By Bi-coaster |

My spouse loves their grilled bacon and cheese sandwich with a side of cole slaw and endless cups of American coffee. I like the tuna salad in a pita also. Family-run place, friendly efficient service and always satisfying!

One of the friendliest diners around!

By Bi-coaster |

We love the warm welcome given as we enter! Great service all around and one of the best iterations of a grilled bacon and cheese. The tuna melt on an English muffin is quite good also.

Late Breakfast

By Joe M |

Enjoyed a late breakfast here while visiting NYC. Service was very friendly and quick. Food was excellent.

Friendly place

By eileen m |

Very friendly staff and is almost like the old time diners with the booths and stools. Service was quick and all done with a smile. It's not high end but certainly fine for the prices. Lots of options on the menu for whatever time of day you find yourself there. One of the more friendly places we found in New York

Family friendly good eats

By thods2016 |

We had a 7 person group and they attended right away. The atmosphere was quant not posh NYC.the very thing I avoid in the city. The owner was attentive and the waitress was excelent as our group was very undecided about where and what to eat. the food choices were just right for everyone to get what they wanted,as a matter of fact we purposely ate there the next day due to quality attentiveness and the community based atmosphere of the establishment. the prices were great with the whole two dinners we had a exceptional value and worthwhile experence. If want a great place to eat Eat Here Now

Well recommended

By tray71 |

A traditional midtown diner. Basic and was not decorated in all the mod cons but the food and service was second to none. It was that good we went back the next day. Not expensive. Tea and coffee refills and pleasant friendly staff compared to all the must go to diners that charge the earth and are rude!! Great little place to eat and relax with other visitors and the locals that lived there which we liked to hear there stories not that we were noisy. Very welcomed and recommend to give it a go and support the local businesses.

Good food - lovely, friendly people

By dottyhoward |

Found this by chance and went in for lunch and a drink. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was freshly cooking and really tasty. It was a bit expensive for what it was but we had refilled drinks and some time to people watch and all in all it was a very nice lunch.

The best diner in Nyc!

By Ian W |

We eat here every weekend for brunch. The staff here is sooooo sweet and they are like a big family. Full of locals and a great taste of a neighborhood diner experience. Must visit in NYC

Homey, delicious food

By Adrienne C |

I really like the relaxed and no-frills atmosphere of this spot. The service and food are good, and there's no pretense. I am a big fan of their omelets and home fries. Delicious!

Great place for breakfast

By Lucy Bell |

Love the breakfast and the girls who work there :) Ask for the pancakes, coffee, eggs.. all delicious

Can't say anything good

By Ulf N |

We jumped in as TripAdvisor gave a certificate of excellence. Honestly, I don't understand why. The Burger didn't taste like quality meat and my wife's "high quality " salad wasn't fresh at all. What a shame as I actually like these old fashioned restaurants, but this will not help to keep them alive.

Don’t eat there anytime! Find another place!

By alinsvn |

Went to this place as we have thought it was cheap but it’s actually expensive for what you get. Plus we’ve been charged $7 service fee without being informed and they way it was hand written on the receipt it was not clear. That made us felt scammed.

Best Breakfast in Town

By Julia W |

This is by far my favourite place to have breakfast in NYC! Classic Diner set up, the waitresses are so so so so nice and take the best care of you. The food is fresh, using real eggs, and tastes great! I particularly recommend the omelettes and the pancakes! If you want a no chichi, great, quiet and welcoming place to eat - come here now!!

DO Eat Here - It's One of the Best

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

I think of great diners as an American culinary art form. The best have straightforward menus with "all the usual" one of my favorites being grilled bacon and cheese (I know - an invitation to the cardiologist) with cole slaw on the side. The best are friendly, clean and have fast service. The best are good all times of the day. New York City is a treasure trove of diners - some great and some just good and a number that look awful but I'm not sure because I avoid awful. Eat Here Now is one of the best. It hits all the diner chimes. We stay in the neighborhood for a couple of months each year and make it our go-to place to recharge when we need to. I think you would like it too.

Lovely staff, delicious food!

By LauraKath |

Came here for breakfast but I would gladly stay for lunch. Prices are fair for a place like Manhattan, so don't worry about that, plus they have really good specials. We did not have to wait long for the food. The staff were very friendly and were always checkig if we had enough coffee and water. We will definitely be back :)

Great friendly service

By Emelynthehorse |

Visited this diner at 6 in the morning as unable to sleep having travelled from europe. Just dropped in. Bought the new york times had coffee and a pastry. Old style diner with many local customers. Brooklyn and Jersey accents with everyone talking at 100 miles an hour. Really enjoyed the feel of the place. So NOT Starbucks. Came back 5 more times over the next 6 days. Brought family who were treated like VIPS. Waitress from Brooklyn was simply outstanding. If i could bring her to Ireland I would make a fortune. Food was coffee eggs bacon waffles pancakes jams etc. Served fast and loud. Great place. Highly recommended. No point going to NY and not experience real NY hospitality.

Cosy, friendly neighborhood diner.

By Anita W |

Because this diner was close to our hotel, we opted to give it a try. We were amazed with the fast service and friendliness of our server, Debra. She was so much fun to interchange with! In such a large city, it was an absolute pleasure to have people go the distance and be friendly. It was much appreciated. Also, we were very pleased with the quality of the food. Both the veggie omelet and the eggs and onions were yummy!

Excellent Diner!

By FCimaloner |

Yet another fantastic place to eat in NYC. We visited this diner during a walk through Manhattan and wanted somewhere to sit down and get something to eat. There was less choice in this area than the area we staying in so this place looked ideal when we chance upon it. Just like most of the other diners in New York this place had great service and everyone was very friendly. I opted for a grilled cheese with bacon and it was one of my favourite meals I had on this trip, one of the cheapest too! We got more coffee without having to ask which is always a bonus. I would definitely visit this place again if I could.

Typical deli, an very busy for an 'off' time!

By LeawoosKsinKS |

Started the bagel and lox journey, and was not disappointed by my first stop! Service ok/typical? My friend had an egg white omelette and said it was good.

Fantastic customer service

By Carol11125111 |

We had breakfast here every morning of our weeks holiday and were greeted as regulars on our second visit. Apart from the delicious choice of dishes available watching the waitresses wiz round making sure everyone, both locals and visitors alike, had everything they could possibly need was a real lesson in good customer service. They had smiles and kind words for everyone - thank you for starting our mornings off so brilliantly Veronica and Debra!!

great breakfast

By Alfredo8074 |

No better place for breakfast than this local restaurant on Lexington and 64th Street in Manhattan. Very friendly waitresses that have been there a long time serve you well and fast. The fried eggs with corned beef hash are terrific and the waffles and pancakes second to none. Great place mohave breakfast.

By Michele K |

We were tired and hungry and happened upon Eat Here Now. What a refreshing place to eat. Great place w/ EXCELLENT BURGERS! Our waitress was inviting and made us feel welcome! The food was served fast and was very good. A must!

Just average

By chris6net |

I was with 2 of my kids and we walked by and saw it was crowded and looked clean. I had the breakfast and my daughter had a roast beef sandwich and my son had a monte cristo . The food was just average and a little high priced. We would not come back.

I eat here now 😘

By rwiz |

Loved it 4 stars food 5 stars for everything else Much better than your typical diner or coffee shop No bar, so no Baileys for my coffee This place has been here forever (45+) And it deserves to be here forever. No french frittata or soufle but I would rather be here now than down the street at the french bistro, amd judging by the filled seats. I am not the only one.

Perfect Neighborhood Spot

By sandyconcrete |

Friendly service coupled with good food - quickly - make this a go-to neighborhood diner. Pancakes, eggs, burgers, etc .. you name it .. it is good. The prices are very fair.

Breakfast

Excellent breakfast and excellent service Food is fresh and coffee good and staff superb Also prices are very fair😊

One of our go to diners.

By oktopus72 |

Love this place, for its typical NYC vibe.Great fresh tasty breakfasts, reasonably priced. We also love the staff, they are so friendly and can't do enough for you.Found this place 4 years ago and now go annually when we're in the city.

Friendly neighborhood diner

By kevinwparker |

Ate here all three mornings my last stay in New York (at an AirBnB down the street). Food is tasty and arrives quickly, and the staff is very friendly - the head waitress recognized me on my first return and immediately asked if I wanted the same as the previous day or something different. If I have a criticism, it's that the servings are a little small, but I like a big breakfast and always want something like the Denny's "Grand Slam". Definitely a place worth checking out if you're on the Upper East Side and getting hungry.

eat here now!!

By stephen l |

Its funny sometimes when a place has a name that is so intense.. (like "eat here now") you dont believe it... but guess what, you should eat here now!!

A good solid diner in the city.

By pitch9mdk |

This turned out to be a nice spot for lunch. We had the salmon and it was quite good. The service was excellent and I would recommend it for the value.

Could be better

By Jonny S |

On the plus-side: Location, staff, service, "diner"-feel. On the negative-side: small portions, poor fruit selection, a bit pricey.

Great value & food

By Jackie |

We ate here around 3 times during our 7 night stay in NYC. It's great value & the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu. Nothing is too much trouble & you can order pretty much anything you wish for & they will accommodate. The waitress even remembered which drink I liked after just one visit!! Highly recommended!!

Quintessential NYC Diner

By loneoak75 |

If you're looking for a quintessential NYC diner experience, this is the place. Small, crowded and loud, but good food at reasonable prices. Our group of four had a wide range of meals: two typical breakfasts, a large salad and a reuben sandwich. The reuben is open-faced, so that was a little different, but was outstanding nonetheless. Besides the solid meals, the service was attentive.

By All Means Eat Here!

By SanFranciscoGuy634 |

My wife and I are fans of diners for lunch, particularly in New York where they exist in many sizes and locations. Eat Here Now is really good. Clean. Hearty welcome when you walk in. Fast service. MOST IMPORTANTLY, their food is genuinely good. They offer the usual diner menu - wide variety for any hunger at any time of day. My go-to is the grilled ham and cheese sandwich with cole slaw. They make a great version. My wife goes for the tuna melt. High marks. Highly recommended. Good view of the street too.

Breakfast

Great Diner

By STADoyle |

This is a typical NYC Diner. Called here for breakfast on Memorial day. The place was busy with locals which shoukd tell you all you need to know. Great diner with excellent food, great service and great waitressess. Highly recommended.

Great Breakfast

By Digitabulist |

Had breakfast at this restaurant last Saturday. It was very clean, staff was smiling and welcoming. Menu had lot of diversity. Very clean and inviting with lots of windows for light and people watching. Highly recommend.

Good Sunday brunch pick in bustling little restaurant, reasonably priced menu

By LisandroVoyager |

I enjoyed a full breakfast midday Sunday with a friend from the neighborhood who is a regular at this place. But it's tiny so my seat at the very center had people hustling about around me. Noise level is somewhat high as there was a full house of customers. The room was bright and cheery and the crowd mostly locals it seemed. We both enjoyed our omelets.

Poor food and poorer service

By MarcusandRachel |

After waking through Central Park we decided to call in for lunch. The restaurant was busy which we took as an indication as a good sign. It turns out this wasn't the case. The food we ordered was bland at best and the speed at which it arrived at the table after our order was taken suggested our food had been heated through rather than freshly cooked. It took an age for our orders to be taken. The main objection we had was being told the bill and very forcefully that this does not include service and what we should pay for service. This was repeated on more than one occasion. I know the tipping eticte differs in the U.S however we didn't experience this is any other restaurant through our stay in New York and this in the restaurant where we received the poorest service. There are plenty of better places to eat than this in New York. I certainly wouldn't return or recommend.

AVOID!!!!!

By MissBlair123 |

Awful place. Dirty, rude staff, horrible food. Couldn't finish my meal it was that disgusting and it made us all sick. Do yourself a favour and go ANYWHERE else. Worst meal I've ever eaten in my life. Vile experience.

Following instruction :)

By PhilipL4 |

I was walking looking for a place for lunch when staying at a nearby hotel. After seeing several this one just called to me (it's in the name, get it?). Very nice place with friendly staff. Food was good and the price on the daily specials was good. I had a chicken souvlaki sandwich, which was on a pita. Quite tasty.

Great spot fir quick breakfast lunch or dinner

Breakfast in Authentic American Diner!

By BaggieBaker |

Sadly we only found this place on the last three days of our holiday, but what a Fantastic place with good food and lovely staff. If you are looking for 'very good value' for your money, then look no further. We tried other places like Lindys and although slightly different decor, it wasn't a patch on Eat Here Now; so if you want a good breakfast, clean and extremely efficient timely serving, please give these guys a go. Next time we are back in NYC we will not hesitate to have our Breakfasts here. A quick shout out to Veronica who was a beautiful lady, and made us feel very welcome. Thank you!!

Presently surprised

By Let's make Astoria's restaurants better! |

I came here and stopped by this diner by pure chance. By itself, this diner is not unusual, however, I was surprised by the friendly service and price for a midtown diner. My choice for lunch was a Swiss cheese omelet and it tasted really good. All in all, I plan to be back again in a week or so.

The cheesecake and espresso

By Olga K |

Me and my friends were looking for a cheesecake place in the Park Ave neighborhood and we came to Eat Here Now. They have just one kind of cheesecake, the plain. Not to sweet, not to sour, just perfect. I had an espresso float with it. Absolutely amazing match. Thank you for the dessert as well as service, the waitress from Moldavia was very helpful and welcoming.

Excellent Breakfast

By rkdisney |

Excellent family breakfast. We had filling omelets and toast. Nothing fancy, just tasty and filling. Friendly, accommodating wait staff and quick service. The quick service was especially appreciated with my two year old granddaughter at the table! Great price and value.

Good NYC diner

By lindakatarina |

This is a proper New York diner experience. It’s busy, crammed, loud and offers a menu with a wide variety of options. It’s a good place for family with younger kids who are picky eaters as there is something for everyone. Prices are decent - there are similar diners that charge much more!

Busy and

By BeanWorld |

We popped in here for lunch on our last day in New York City. The place was crammed but the friendly staff were able to accommodate our party of seven within a couple of minutes. The food was cheap and cheerful diner fare and the room seemed to be crammed with locals (which is always a good sign). The witty interplay between the wait staff was a joy to watch and the service was excellent - our waitress even brought over some extra milkshake to my son (for free) when she saw him eyeing off his sister's shake.

Perfect for family breakfast

By Vsmekhov |

Lovely place, wonderful staff. Delicious food. Affordable prices. The setting is typical American and the atmosphere is cosy.

Yummy for the tummy

By SuperDuper_2016 |

The old man that waits on you is a bit crabby but the food was really good. It didnt take forever either to get it.

Over priced for what it was....and waitress was rude

By Sandra |

Ordered eggs, with bacon and had waffles for afters. Eggs weren't fully cooked, had the white yuk on top. Waffles were far too over priced! Cost more than the main. I paid exactly $10 over as I didn't have any change and the waitress tried to keep my change as a tip when service wasn't good and gave me a dirty look when I asked for it back, she then gave me my money and said you know the service isn't included? I had the money aside for her tip which I left but wish I hadn't. Not worth the money, wouldn't go back

Simple and delicious

By erwam1976 |

Very good hamburger in this typical American restaurant. Price is quite interesting for a place in New York.

Good Food. No Frills. $$$.

By TravelingOYEster |

I used to live around here and go regularly. I hadn’t been in a few years. Turkey sandwich and scrambled eggs / bacon + iced tea was $40. I know things got $$$, but I was shocked. Our waitress was lovely - but I’m still surprised how much lunch cost (adult and small child).

Great Diner - Drop In - You Will Be Impressed.....

By YorkTraveller1962 |

Found this place a little by accident but what a fortunate find it was. We were in need of a sandwich/deli type lunch and were rewarded with one of the highest order. Three different choices and all excellent in presentation, quality and taste. The menu variety is as impressive as the superb and attentive service too. Sandwiches were followed by a delicious cheesecake and a small bill too. All in all an excellent venue for an excellent lunch.

Great place to sit down and relax

By Celso Gonzalez-Falla |

The service is friendly The food is simple and well prepared The egg dishes are very good and the bagels are very good I have stopped there for at least 20 years Not a bad experience

Decent breakfast

By Amrita241 |

The food was what you can expect out of a local American diner. Maybe the experience for us was more important. Food was average but the staff serving us was cold and curt.

Went back over and over again

By Helen M |

We found this great Diner on our second day in New York and once we had it didn't make sense to eat dinner anywhere else. My husband and I don't tend to eat the same things and the variety here gave us both plenty of choices. Excellent prices and good service.

Great Diner

Great little Diner with very friendly staff. If you are looking for a typical American Diner then in the old style then this is for you. Good food at reasonable prices.

Old School Diner

By fizios |

If you are looking for a true local experience from days gone by, this place with its creative name is your bet in the upper east side! Friendly staff, greasy fare and affordable prices. Worth a visit for a quick, casual bite in the neighbourhood.

Staying power.

By Anne C |

We used to come here for breakfast before work in the 1980's and recently revisited while in that neighborhood. We were thrilled that they are still open and one of the staff mentioned it's the same owner as back in the '80's! This is no small accomplishment in the restaurant business and especially in NYC. Except for a few replacements of materials in the dining room, to us it looked pretty much the same. They keep it well-maintained yet still has that old diner atmosphere. You'll find the classic diner breakfasts here, served by really nice, smart, efficient servers. I had a yummy cheese omelet with some nice wheat toast and good coffee. While I can appreciate all kinds of complex, experimental, and even fancy food, there is something to be said for consistently making good, simple, straightforward diner food for decades. That is not easy to do. We enjoyed speaking with some of the staff and felt right back at home! In fact, the next week we were walking past the restaurant and one of the waitresses waived "hi" to my hubby through the window. Sometimes it's nice to have a history.

So New York!

By MelonfromNY |

This is just a simple breakfast, lunch, dinner and late snack place. Fine dining - no but still it is just the best place. I usually go in for breakfast, on my way out to somewhere for the day in the city. For that- you are served immediately with hot coffee and then you choice comes right away. I appreciate that kind of service. This is a place where my favorite waitress calls you 'Honey" or 'Love'... but with such sincerity...I just love going there. It is a very small place but the turn over is quick so you usually can find a seat. Also, the place is a few steps down so as you sip your coffee-you can watch humanity walk by on the other side of the window-great fun. Also, one fun thing about a real New York place is having a quick conversation with another New Yorker or ever tourist. I once was there and had an 'argument' with my friend about women's pocketbooks, of all things. So sitting one of the set of three 'two-tops' I said that I would nto allow a man to carry my hand bag for any reason-to me it was nuts...he, on the other hand thought it was perfectly fine - well the elderly couple right next to us broke into our conversation and the husband said that he was carrying the handbag for his wife for 50 years! Oh you cant win them all! But this is a great place for what it is - a simple place for nice , quick food.
