Great place for lunch

By FatimaB |

After shopping at Century 21, I stop for lunch at Eataly Downtown. Lots of great food and wine options. To finish with Italian espresso and sweets.

Average food at above average prices

By looproad |

Wasn’t really impressed with the meal at all, but was starving. This is in the mall at the 9/11 Memorial. Convenient location and has a decent reputation, so we decided to eat here. Food wasn’t the greatest and prices were high for what was served. I can’t say we’d return.

Disappointing

By Smita. |

We decided to visit for an early dinner (17:45). The service was very slow as the restaurant was under staffed. We received our starters before our wine and when we received our wine there was cork in it. The salad we ordered was $17 which was rocket, lettuce, feta and radish. The salad that was prepared has 3 small pieced of feta and a few pieces of radish. The salad was small and just not worth the money at all. We spoke to the manager who was aloof and not apologetic at all. I honestly feel that the service was appalling and the meal was not worth the money.

Atendimento péssimo

By Wow Brand R |

I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. We arrived 15 minutes before closing time and were informed that we could only order one dish, even though my underage daughter was extremely hungry. We were also carrying other food to take back to the hotel, and instead of understanding the situation, we were constantly confronted with complaints about the restaurant closing. I fully understand the purpose of closing times, but the manner and tone used were extremely poor. We were attended by the hostess at the door, Carolina, who mentioned that she was tired and that it was snowing. While I can understand external conditions, they should never justify rude or unprofessional behavior—especially toward a family with a child. The place is beautiful and the food is excellent, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. Good food and a great atmosphere are not enough when customer service fails.

Surprising in the middle of a “super market”

We chose this restaurant by chance..........but what a nice surprise! Italian dishes of course, but good and well prepared. Friendly, fast and warm service. A good-natured atmosphere, despite the noise from the Italian products store.

Excellent food, very kind staff and acceptable prices.

By Maria Elena T |

It really is like feeling in Italy. Prices are obviously very high also due to the significant duties imposed on Italian products. The atmosphere is beautiful. To save money, we ate in an area called Ravioli & Co. where, as in akcunibaeroporti, you order freshly cooked dishes, collect them when ready (with a remote control alert) and eat at the tables, therefore without service. The dish is supplied on a tray, with fabric napkin, metal fork and ceramic plate. The staff was extraordinarily kind, the first courses were cooked very, very well (gnocchi, sausage and turnip tops) and in the end we spent little more for each dish than a burrito or salad. Considering the average quality of the food in these parts I have to say that it's really worth trying.

Great pizzas, well priced for New York

By LatchG |

We wanted a pizza and lived this one. Situated in the Westfield centre, top floor. Pizza menu was great and they served a traditional thin crust pizza.. really tasty.

Delicious and great service

By Rachel J |

Delicious pasta and tiramisu, excellent service, our waiter answered all our questions and kept our drinks full. My brother has been to Milan several times and said the food was on par with what he had eaten in Italy.

Strategic point, less quality

By Gabriel A |

That the Eataly brand is also represented abroad can only be pleasing, particularly near the Ground Zero memorial. But much more is expected from Italian cuisine. And I don't want to make a dissertation on the high cost of the dishes which, considering the point, could perhaps even be justified, but on the quality of the food which is decidedly below the Italian average. It must improve in quality and quantity and reflect the level of Eataly in the world. We had a pizza and a (mini) cut of meat... no off-menu dishes included.

Quick dinner option

By mrsaab93 |

We were trying to find a dinner option one evening. We saw Eataly and initially thought it was set up for desserts and drinks only. But we noticed they had flatbreads and sandwiches. A few of us had a sausage flatbread and two of us split a sliced chicken sandwich. While the food is premade, they have toaster ovens to warm up the food and give the bread just the right amount of crisp. Very good.

Worst experience eating in NY.

By Marzia M |

I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment. As someone with multiple food allergies, I take great care to ensure the food I consume is safe, and I requested to see the allergen list to confirm this. Unfortunately, I was made to feel uncomfortable by a member of staff (kind of manager I suppose) during this process, which I found unprofessional (laughing at me and make me almost cry wasn’t definitely a good shot). Their approach to allergies and intolerances did not instill confidence, as the suggestions offered demonstrated a lack of understanding of these issues. For example, one suggestion included a dish that would not be suitable for someone with gluten, wheat and sulphites allergies. Ultimately, I did not feel safe eating here and had to watch my partner eat instead.

Positive surprise, original service

By Susle_und_Pidu |

What a positive surprise :-) We ended up here more by chance. The staff were friendly, well-positioned, motivated and dedicated throughout. Both the pizza and the pasta tasted excellent. And the special type of service was very original. The pasta was prepared at the table, in a large cheese loaf, with great sauce and truffles. And pizza doesn't have to shy away from comparison with Italy. Italy in Eataly NY :-)

Tasty but pricy

Food was delicious. We had 2 main courses, 1 water, and as a "starter" bread with oil = about $100 The portions weren't extremely huge, but it was delicious

AVOID if you have coeliac disease or allergies!!!

By Courtney P |

If you are coeliac or have any allergies, DO NOT visit this chain! When entering, I mentioned I was coeliac. I asked the waiter if I could have the pizza, and they said, "No, we really wouldn't recommend the pizza for coeliacs, but the pasta is safe for coeliacs", I therefore asked if the gluten-free pasta was cooked in separate pasta water from the normal pasta, and I was assured it was. Within 20 minutes of eating my meal, I was ill. I had to go to the toilet, I felt nauseous, I had cold sweats, I was lightheaded, and I had severe abdominal cramps. I had 100% been given/contaminated by gluten. I messaged their Instagram page upon my return to double-check that the pasta is cooked separately when gluten-free. I was told it is not and that it is not safe for coeliacs. I made the company aware of the issues I had and explained how dangerous this was, and the waiter assured me the food was safe for me. The company said I would be contacted by email or phone call to discuss further, which was on the 16th of October. On the 27th October, I contacted the company to ask whether I would be getting a phone call or email, and they responded apologising for the delay and that no further time would be wasted before they contact me. On the 3rd November, I asked for an update, and I still (as of 4th December) have not received a response or further communication from this company. They clearly do not take allergies or coeliac disease seriously in this establishment, so AVOID!

Questionable. Not positive.

By Tiger74 |

Both the service and what they brought me were questionable. One perfect pizza, the other burnt completely underneath (clearly deviated flavour): I asked for a replacement for the burnt one, I received an identical one. Faced with my perplexity and report, the staff seemed surprised: I was the strange one, the burnt pizza cooked at the same time and oven as the ok one should have been fine for me like that. No comment. Exorbitant prices: 2 margherita pizzas (one of which was burnt) and 1 bottle of still water $64. Plus the tip... For what? .... Never again.

Disappointing

By BKD P |

Really disappointed with the vegetarian and vegan options. Couldn’t have the lunchtime deal as no options available to us. When we asked to change it up to accommodate our dietary requirements we were refused. Food was ok but as it was literally the only thing we could eat it left a metaphorical taste in our mouths! Very pricey for what it was. Good atmosphere.

Eating Italian in New York

By Aldo |

We ate here on our way back from the 9/11 Museum in New York, the restaurant is in fact located near Ground Zero. We ate two first courses (good, although not very abundant), a plate of lasagna and a pizza. It was all very good. Discreet service and very acceptable waiting times. Recommended if you want to eat Italian in the "Big Apple". The prices are very high but absolutely in line with New York. The slightly favorable exchange rate saves you a little but in any case we are in…. another dimension. Advised

To flee

By Sabeirio |

A horrible restaurant, you will eat there for a high price and ridiculous quantities. In the dough department, only 2 choices of t a cook who opens the packages with his teeth…. Run away while you can!

terrible service, rude manager

By sofi_0727 |

terrible service, rude manager. they refused to allow us to order any pasta on the menu with just plain butter (for someone’s birthday who could not eat any of the sauces, even if we were willing to pay the full price of the dish), they also refused to give us a pasta dish without the meat item for a vegetarian, they said it is corporate policy that they don’t allow any modifications of any kind. I have made simple requests like these in hundreds of restaurants (upscale, chain, small) and never got this kind of response. we couldn’t get a proper explanation either, it’s already made they said, can’t be modified, but when we asked if the pasta was cooked with the sauce, the manager said no but that corporate policy does not allow absolutely any changes to the menu in any of their restaurants. after this very unpleasant situation, they made multiple errors, they brought the wrong dish so that one person in our party had to wait for the right one while everyone else ate, then later we got the wrong desert and again someone had to wait for the right one. it was a terrible experience.Don’t let them spoil your special event, you’ll be better off elsewhere.

Eataly Down town NYC

Great food stop right next to Ground Zero. Two floors up with great views of memorial park. Food was better than average with lots to choose from. Service excellent and the restaurant was very clean and spacious.
