I can't believe that Effy"s Cafe has been neatly tucked away on the corner of 96th street and noone told me. The Mediterranean Kosher menu has an array of inviting dishes to chose from. We couldn't resist trying out a few dishes. To our amazement each dish was more delicious than the next. I sipped on my perfectly mixed mimosa with joy while my girlfriend happily drank her coffee. The atmosphere is comfortable and airy with hushed whispers and crunching of a packed house. The staff is small, but they are very accommodating and friendly. My friends coffee mug nor my glass of mimosa was ever empty. Stop by and experience this cozys spot vibe. I promise you eont regret it!

Open all three meals and for take out. We stopped in for breakfast and were quite happy we did. The food is tasty, the menu describes exactly what you get, they were willing to swap sides for me since I didn’t want bread. Large selection of teas. Green shakshuka was very good. My husband had an tasty omelette. Very friendly and good service. And there’s a cash discount if you still carry any real money. Now we have a place to eat since Coffeeberry closed.

We had a good run at Effy's until we didn't. We ordered like we usually do - scrambled eggs, French toast, bagel etc. The eggs were extremely greasy and had gray marks all over them, the French toast was raw in the middle. The server whom we told about the raw French toast came back to the table to say that it was cooked and that is how it usually is, soft. No, that is not how it was the prior two times we ordered it. This time the middle was wet and raw. It had nothing to do with the challah being soft. The bagel was hard and they are skimpy with the cream cheese. Unfortunately this place is too good to be true. They also need a lesson about customer service.

We just happened upon this place after we’d been riding in central Park. Beautiful fresh food - nothing like we had been experiencing in most of America!! The service was great as well

Great Kosher menu - excellent coffee for NYC. All freshly cooked. Real buzz in the place. Genuine nice people and good service! Thanks guys - we will be back.

I now have met my friend twice for lunch at Effy's Cafe -- and both times each of us was really pleased with our food. The service was prompt and pleasant, the atmosphere is good. So, the entire experience was positive.

Excellent food, helpful and delightful service in a small restaurant that has become something of a neighborhood favorite. The only thing that keeps me from giving them a top rating is that we were seated three tables from the door on a cold day and, for whatever reason, people coming and going had trouble closing the door, at which point we'd get a bit of a blast of cold air!

We came in the winter and after a cold long walk through Central Park it was the perfect stop off to have a cheap tasty snack in a warm cosy environment. Highly recommend

Delicious well made food. Friendly service. Love their "Rise & Shine Wrap" and I ask them to add the spicy Moroccan sauce. Their Shakshukah is also quite good. Delectable split pea soup! Great for a sore throat and left me craving for more. Love it here! Charming place to grab a casual breakfast/lunch with friends. My friend tried their salmon and it was good! I visit regularly :)

We are coming back from brunch at Effy’s. Restaurant was packed, yet service was good. We didn’t wait too long and servers were kind and accommodating. However, the food was inedible. We left most of it on the plate and left after 10 minutes. 3 breakfasts, horrifying cauliflower, and an old, smelly Israeli salad which are all really hard to ruin were so bad. We all still feel nauseous. Very bad experience.

When I told my wife that there was a kosher veg. spot in the UWS, she insisted that we had to go. I'd been a few years earlier with my family, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the menu remained similar. We went at 1pm on a Saturday, though we had no problem finding a table. Once we were seated, however, it took a while for someone to take our order, and then it took even longer for our food to arrive. I ordered a shakshuka and my wife ordered a salad. It took nearly 35 minutes for both dishes to arrive. Once the food arrived, however, all was quickly forgotten. Both of our meals were incredible, and we were in no real rush. We could see other diners experiencing similar frustration though, and the service was definitely lagging. I'd definitely return when I'm back in NYC, and perhaps if I go at a less busy time of day the service will improve.

I had brunch here with a relatively large family group (eight people) recently and was really pleased with everything. The restaurant is small, so you might have to wait, but the wait is worth it. We found the food to be really terrific. Our party ordered a mix of breakfast items and lunch items (there is an Israeli flavor to the menu and it is a kosher place). Everyone was very impressed by the quality of the food. Our server was fine, although a few things were a bit slow (a highchair for one member of our party and milk that never arrived), but overall, everyone in our group thought it was worth returning. The food was really good and the choices were great.

Very good service at this restaurant. My salmon was really good. The sweet potato was top-notch also.

I think that this cafe has recently acquired new owners and a new menu. The food is stunning and well beyond what one would expect from an informal cafe. Fabulous appetizers, unbelievable fish dishes, ridiculously low prices. They are not completely aware of the fact that they have wine and that it is possible to order a glass, but I suspect that they will fix that tiny issue. We will be back often.

I love the food is fresh and if you don't like something they give you the option to exchange things, and the coffee is really good. If you come to new York can't miss this place you gonna love it

Open red french doors to a cute outdoors seating area with a good menu and great help. Coffee is good to excellent depending on your preference. Very inviting and friendly neighborhood tiny cafe filled with a super friendly an every day clientele. Very affordable and good quality ingredients well seasoned and freshly cooked dishes. Try it for an early breakfast or a quick lunch bite and you'll like it too!! Delicious smoked fish platter, challah french toast, bagels, freshly made buttermilk pancakes and the best smoked salmon omelette in Manhattan!! If you have any questions or specific dishes in mind don't hesitate to ask, they are always very happy to comply with your wishes with a big smile!! AAAaaahhhh!!! so relaxing ...

after a run in the park . I pass by this place with a friend for breakfast I had the effys breakfast he had the smoke fish platter its was both very tasty the ices latte was very good. must try

Great stop for lunch... Reasonably priced and delicious. I would suggest the falafel wrap! The fries are perfectly crispy and the garlic mayo is tasty.

Walking through Manhattan headed The Met and ran into this restaurant. What a surprise, clean, inviting and a very friendly staff. Limited menu, but lots to offer if that makes sense? I had the cheddar pancakes, chicken schnitzel, and spiced maple syrup. Was amazing!

A friend and I met at Effys for a breakfast/coffee catch up, and were pleasantly surprised. The shakshuka and French toast were delicious, the atmosphere was laid back, and it was decently priced. I would certainly go back.

Great kosher middle eastern food. Casual and friendly. There is a large variety of menu options surely able to please everyone.

Come here if you are sick of eating pancakes and waffles for breakfast. Loved the mediterranean breakfast and the Avocado +eggs.

We went there with group of 5 Everyone was amaze with food and service and quality Good kosher wine as well
Great casual dining
We were at the cafe on 89th & York Ave. Great food, excellent service, moderate pricing. The food exceeded our expectations. We had 3 appetizers, lentil & pea soup, 2 smoothies, & a tuna sandwich, all for less than $75. Everything was very, very fresh & tasty.
