I went here on Feb 15 on dinner. I already booked a table on phone as I always found this place very busy To start with, we had the big nachos as starters and some berries drink which was in today's special. I must say the nachos were delicious.. I loved them.. Then we had enchiladas and 1 more dish and they were amazing too!! This place has a very good ambiance, good music, good food and good service.. What else do you need.. P.S. Being a vegetarian, did not have a problem in picking up the dishes :)

Was able to get a table outside which allowed for good people watching. Large quantity of food even for their appetizers. Their macno nacho appetizer had enough for an entree and very good to boot. The steak tacos and lamb tacos were pretty good as well to go with the exceptional service. One regret is that they do not have a happy hour.

Had lunch and the bill was bumped up by at least $25 by waiter offering 'extras'. Asked for beef fajitas for myself ONLY, and they brought a huge beef platter (mostly lots of onions) and with a wide smile graciously suggested 'I share'. SHARE WITH WHO? Everybody else got their own plates. Instead of paying $19, they charged us $44. They probably assumed that we are tourists. They might want to recover monies after pandemic, but this is not the way to do it. So, if you don't want to be scammed, do yourself a favor, and go somewhere else, there are plenty of good restaurants downtown.

There aren't many Mexican restaurants downtown, so I was excited to try this one - so disappointed! The room was so loud that I could barely hear my dinner companion. The guacamole was okay - not table side made. Everything had white cheese on it - including the maduros (sweet plantains) which wasn't described on the menu. I had the fresh grilled fish tacos - they weren't fresh and I didn't bring the leftovers home. Didn't try dessert - figured there was no point.

This was our 2nd visit. Sat at the bar again and shared the nachos - some of the best we have ever had and the presentation on a pan is awesome. Margaritas were good and service was great at the bar as there is always a bartender nearby to help you out. We saw several other plates around us and they all looked great. They were also empty when the diners left so that is a good sign. If you are in the area it is worth a try for sure.

We booked online for dinner here on a Friday evening. Our booking was for 7.45pm and our table was ready when we arrived. The bar area was heaving with customers and it had a great feel. We were shown to our table and ordered margarita’s. The food we had was simply amazing. The service was excellent and the margarita’s were delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great ambiance! Excellent Margarita's that you could actually taste the tequila! Food was delicious!

Decent food - service could have been better on a Monday night. Chicken tacos and Macho Nachos (huge order)

When you consider all the factors, at least the ones that are important to me (quality ingredients, value, convenience), this is the best burrito in the city. My suggestion is to go with one of their menu items if you are a newbie, as the one disappointment I've had here was when I went rogue too early. I ended up with a gansta-wrapped (yes, this is proper terminology) monstrosity that I only managed to consume over a two day period. So my advice is 1) Get there before/after everyone else. Burrito Bar hours are 11-4, so get there at 11 or after 130pm or be prepared to catch a line. 2) Stay on-menu until you get some experience. They know what they are doing. 3) If Vegetarian or otherwise looking to go meatless, go with The Vegan; it far outpaced the dairy monster I tried creating. 4) Don't order a gangsta wrap if you find yourself in a long line or have anything else to do the rest of the day unless you want to be asked to step aside while they prepare this overly indulgent, coma-inducing quesadilla burrito wrap. Not feeling a burrito? Get your order bowl, salad, or nacho style.

Came across El Vez as we were walking around lower Manhatten. Very nice ambience, great tacos (we tried chicken, short rib and carnitas) and a very nice chocolate bread pudding and friendly staff

I firstly would like to compliment Abel one of the managers for his excellent service, this restaurant is fortunate to have such a great leader on their team, THe stand out for me was the excellent corn, albeit I thought just a little expensive. our waiter did not tell us that the portions were huge, therefore so much food left over. All the food was perfectly prepared and delicious. A great restaurant to visit if visiting the Staue of Liberty or ground zero. do not forget to walk over the road after dinner to Brookfield Place for the incredible ice cream at La district and also to enjoy THe adjoining mall of Westfield. I think this is one of the nicer Mexican restaurants in New York and great for kids. reservations at night are recommended

We felt very comfortable sitting outside. The food was delicious and the service was quick. Make sure you have reservations. This is a kid friendly place.

Fantastic atmosphere really popular for after work. A lot of drinks to choose from but a bit expensive. Food was ok at best. God flavors but no presentation and big differences on both quality and quantity between dishes. Check on what other tables are ordering and ask for the stuff that looks good.

Great spot to grab lunch with colleagues. The dining area is quite large so you don't always need a reservation. Service is quick and the menu is extensive, so almost everyone is able to find something that suits their fancy. Portions are definitely reasonable given the prices and the location. Highly recommend if you're in the area (Brookfield Place / the Oculus).

We ate outside while drinking frozen margarita ( divine) our waitress was Alison who was bubbly attentive and really nice! We shared Nachos which were the best I have ever tasted. The platter was enormous but so tasty. The quesadilla and enchiladas were beautifully flavoured and I could fault anything. Restaurant was busy, food fabulous service excellent. We were offered a free desert as first time guests but were too full to accept Wish we had come across this restaurant on our first rather than last evening!

Oh. My. Goodness!!!! You have to eat here. The decorations is super cool, the music is also fun and not too loud. But the food!!!! Start with some cocktails (frozen margarita was incredible) then macho taco for starter (literally evaporated) and we shared a Carbón with surf and turf. It says for 2 but we were 3 and we had leftovers. I'll definitely be back & highly recommend this place for a casual dinner with friends or even for a business dinner.

Brand New Mexican restaurant close to Freedom Tower - maybe three minute walk. Didn't need a reservation and food was fantastic. W hole family loved it.

Fantastic restaurant close to battery park and the 9/11 memorial. Friendly fast service and absolutely delicious food at a reason able price!

We loved El Vez. The waiter was helpful in selecting food that was appropriate to our palate, and he was attentive throughout our meal. The decor is interesting, food is good, and prices are not outlandish. I would gladly recommend it.

Incredible selection of tequilas, food is of good quality, in particular I loved the tender pork belly tacos. The service is excellent and friendly. The ambiance is not overcrowded and not to loud. Wi fi is available. Price is adeguate, we ate in 2 plenty fully and drank 2 Margherita’s and a beer for slightly more than 100$

Referred here by a local and they did not disappoint. Started with Nachos which were amazing and a shared meal by themselves. Carnitas tacos and home made guac were also really well done. Sat at the bar and the margaritas and service were wonderful. Worth going out of your way and must try it if nearby. Decor is cool and restrooms are huge as spotless as well! Only steps from One World in a hip new part of Downtown.

We arrived early for our reservation and were warmly greeted by the receptionist at the front door. They were very welcoming and told us that our table would be available shortly. We went to the bar and had a great bartender who was friendly and a lot of fun. Our house margaritas were delicious and we really enjoyed them. Our table was available shortly after we finished our drinks and we were sat in a nice booth. Our served greeted us immediately and we ordered a pitcher of blood orange margaritas which were amazing! We had ceviche and guacamole for our appetizers and each were so fresh and delicious. Our entries were equally as good, the steak and the burrito. The service was spectacular and the pace was just right. We didn't feel rushed at all and we loved our server who make our anniversary dinner so special.

What a great place to meet friends or colleagues for happy hour! Conveniently located down town with great drinks and salsa!

Had a take away great food good service. Never eaten a Mexican meal before but I do like spicy food. This was great for me enjoyed it all but I can not say it was better or worse than many Mexicans. would return.

We were passing when we saw El Vez, with al fresco seating and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed, great cocktails and excellent Mexican food. The staff are friendly and efficient and it worth a visit either for lunch or dinner and not that expensive for downtown Manhattan.

I recent hosted a cocktail party and they did a great job. Service was good and the taco bar was very tasty Guests had a very good time

I recently had lunch with a colleague at El Vez and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The atmosphere was low-key, the service terrific and the food quite good. The portions were sufficient and well priced. Great homemade guacamole and worth the trip.

I live nearby and have eaten here 6-8 times. It's fairly consistent, meaning 1/5 times the food won't be as good as the other times. Such are NYC restaurants, alas. El Vez is good for upscale, tasty and fresh Mexican food and creative margaritas. Good service, fun atmosphere, very busy bar area. The grilled lobster is excellent.

We are vegetarians. The waitress was very helpful in explaining the food options. The food arrived quite quickly. Also, the nachos was excellent. The other two dishes (one is an enchilada, and another is similar to a Mexican pizza) were very good as well. The service was prompt and water refill was very timely. The dessert (Tres Leches) was also great. The waitress was really good and the service great.

Mexican food with very unfriendly stuff, the waitress who take care from our table was a short hair black girl, we have to "run" after her all the time, there was no people but she absolut did not care... horrible! The wraps with shripms tasted to cleaning product... HORRIBLE!

Nothing particularly bad about this place, staff were attentive and helpful but the food was just so bland and boring - no fire no spice, and it was pricey for what it was. Felt a bit like eating in a shopping mall chain, and not in a good way.

Loud and amped up business crowd needing to eat and eat quickly. The menu choices were plentiful, service was quick and friendly. Had no issues with this place , as the food was pretty good for what it was.

good place. Quality Tex Mex - dishes you'd expect but done well. We had steak tostadas, a crab & shrimp ceviche and grilled octopus. Great margarita selection and super friendly service. Bar is loud and crowded, but the restaurant itself is calmer and conversation is possible.

This was my first visit to El Vez and we were looking for a quick place for dinner. My expectations for Mexican food in major US cities are generally low but I was more than pleasantly surprised by the food we ordered. We ordered several different types of fish tacos which had the right balance of fish and other ingredients. Too often I've had tacos that stuff so much into the taco that you never taste the fish. Worth the stuff. While we didn't partake - it looks to have a very active bar scene. Might get a little crowded but there is a great range of margaritas.

I went with my sister, her husband, and their 4yo who has a range of food allergies. The server was friendly and helpful in suggesting choices for our taste and needs. Service was competent and timely, and the food and drinks were delicious. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Tribeca/Battery Park City.

Lovely place for good Mexican cuisine in New York City. The Margarita was a lovely drink combined with the steak medium rare.

We were catching up with dear friends and they suggested we try El Vez on Vessey Street near the World Trade Center. (They had really enjoyed the El Vez in Philadelphia) I don't have much occasion to be down in that neighborhood, and I was surprised to find how lively and happening it was. Just west of West Street on Vessey, El Vez is an enormous space. The bar was crowded and loud, and we were happy that the restaurant was much more quiet. We started with Classic Margaritas (of course), which were delicious, an order of Guacamole, Nachos, and the Queso Fundidos. All fresh and tasty and very generous portions. When it came time for the main course, my husband and I shared the Branzino Baja Style fish tacos. They were light and very good. The service was friendly and attentive. A great choice for good Mexican food if you're downtown.

Amazing food and a great atmosphere! Service was fast. Family friendly and very casual. Well priced.

I had a wonderful time at El Vez. The food was savory and delicious. The drinks were great. As a professional who’s been in this industry for over 15 years, I know what I’m talking about. The ambience is fun and exciting. Our bartenders Lupita and Patrick were awesome. The manager Johana was charming and hospitable. They do a great job at making a night out feel like a deeper experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back!

Great quality, lovely service and real Mexican food. The drinks were amazing too. I would absolutelygo back

We just wanted stop for a coffee, didn't know we going to eat, however we ordered some food and it wasn't bad at all. Prices were manhattanish, as the place is very close to new WTC. I recommend because of nice location.

Had lunch here while we waited to check out of the Conrad. It was just okay, but more expensive than other better Mexican restaurants we've been to in NYC.

Arrived a little after 2pm and shocked at how empty this place was. We were welcomed right away and seated promptly. Everyone was so friendly. I absolutely loved the decor and ambiance. The dramatic skull artwork would be something I would put in my own home. Husband had beef enchiladas and I had the chicken. The food was good, I recommend the chicken over the beef enchiladas since we took a bite of each other's. The portions are on the smaller side compared to many Mexican restaurants I have been to but that is fine since we had no ability to take left overs with us. The food was good but nothing to go out of your way for. The service was top notch!

Came here after a boat tour for lunch with the whole family. Portions are large, everybody enjoyed it. They serve a kids menu and the nachos for starters are really tasty. Service as a bit slow, otherwise highly recommended.

This is a good bar with pretty good Mexican food. The drinks are quite good, the food is a genuine B +, and service was friendly and reasonably quick. For New York, prices are reasonable. One negative: When crowded, El Vez is extremely loud.

I am staying at nearby hotel and went to this place for dinner 🥘! I sat on the tables in the bar area.. you share the table with other guests. I waited 15 minutes and reminded the reception so some one can take my order, once I ordered my food with ( I will call him Server #1), my food arrived in timely manner, but then my server disappeared so I had to wait to ask for some hot sauce... which I ordered with server #2, and it took another 20 minutes to arrive ... I then waited again for almost half an hour and asked reception for my bill and she assigned me server #3 ... who was annoyed with me leaving her $3.00 dollar tip on $21.23 cents bill... and without even counting all the bills assumed that I am leaving exact change and rudely said “ oh you are leaving exact change while rolling her 👀 “ while I was leaving her my hard earned dollars after terrible service! previous two server never showed up... I am not sure 🤔 if it was night shift and they got off at 9 or what... As far as the food was concerned it was delicious and because of that I might give this place another chance... however i think it is crime to try anything twice in NewYork city since you have zillion places to eat!

We went here on recommendation of our hostess at the The Frederick hotel - Brianna Placed was walking distance with a great vibe soon as we entered. Our Hostess was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered guacamole to start which was made fresh with no cilantro as requested. The main meal was steak and mahi mahi tacos and a side order of corn - I highly recommend. The beer was ice cold coronas. The food was very tasty with great service. I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner or drinks with a side order of corn on the Cobb

I ate dinner here and had a margarita which was fine and the crispy tacos which were again fine - nothing outstanding and I have had better. The atmosphere was buzzing and it is obviously a popular place. The staff were friendly enough too. The fish in the tacos looked quite dark and I just thought they felt a little bit cheap. The chips were nice and the salsa fine but not very hot. I probably would not go back.

For a pricey menu for tacos dont go. The service was so rude to us. Rolled there eyes at us while ordering. The food was cold when it came out. it 2 hours for our food when we were ready to get up and leave. They bring the food out & then thought that bringing us free shots would make us happy. No I dont drink !!! Our food was cold and the cheese was not even melted. They never came to check on us. They didnt give us silverware or come and clean up our apps. Worst service ever. The food isnt that good. My friend ordered a chicken quesadilla and got cheese with no chicken. Save your self and go else wear.

We went here for New Year’s Eve and the atmosphere was very nice, there was a band of mariachis playing traditional Mexican music and it was very nice. The food is good and the choice is very wide. Good cocktails too!

This place is a must. The staff is great and the food is pretty good. The burrito bar next door which is there smaller to go menu is pretty good too. Between the burritos, tacos and tortas you can't go wrong. Great vibes at this place & I'll be back for sure.

Loved the tacos for two. Quality steak and great guacamole with cooked onions and peppers. Almost like fajitas. We substituted corn tortillas for flour. I had a red sangria and my husband had a margarita. Near freedom tower, close to water. Loved it.

Good place to go after work if you are downtown and on the company's budget. Average Mexican food which is typical for NYC. Drinks were overpriced and small. I had 3 margaritas and didn't even feel anything.

While the restaurant was not crowded on a cold rainy night in NYC, the hostess stayed they did not have a table appropriate for one and suggested I find a place at the bar. The bartenders took 7 minutes, and yes I began to watch the clock, to take my drink order and even though I was ready with the meal order he quickly walked away and back to his conversation at the other end of the bar with fellow employees. Another 5 minutes and I had the drinks but still no dinner order. By this time, I had enough and simply asked for my check, gave a polite tip and conveniently went to a restaurant across the road for dinner. I would normally give a place a second shot but I think I am done with El Vez and will not be recommending it to anyone.

Just stopped for a quick bite. We got guacamole and chicken nachos. Both were amazing. Our server was very friendly and service was quick.

I was working in the city at a trade show as an exhibitor, and was told to try El Vez. I am so glad we did, because we ended up coming here 3 nights in a row it was so good!! Despite all the amazing options for food in the city, all we craved was El Vez!! We tried things from all parts of the menu and were never once disappointed. I have celiac disease as well and never once doubted their knowledge on keeping me safe. Every night the managers came over to greet us and ask about our night, making us feel welcome and important to them. We built a great relationship with the managers Matt and Christina over those few nights and they were THE BEST! They were so thankful for our return night after night and they even treated us to a delicious appetizer and round of shots to thank us! I can't rave enough about our experiences here...all I can say is go here and eat anything! You will NOT be disappointed by the food or the service! Thank you all...Can't wait to come back.

Nice restaurant. Good food, great blood orange margarita. Very nice staff, would go again in a minute.

Beautiful internal decoration and very pleasant outdoor terrace. Deli the enchiladas. Very good service. Next to Brookfield Place in Battery Park City.

We celebrated my teenage son's birthday here and had a fabulous time. The nacho mamma, tito santana guac, and corn are the best we have had. The service was great and the rest of the food delicious. We had a great time and look forward to our next vist

Close to the 9-11 Memorial and NY Waterway. Great atmosphere, quick service, and good food. The guacamole was very tasty, not over powered with onion, and the chips served with it were delicious. Pork tacos were very good

Finally tried this place. I’m just not a fan of Mex food. And why should I pay more when Chipotle is pretty cheap and good? I must say, this is no Chipotle. My burrito had some sticky rice that was piping hot. I never eaten a burrito that is still nice and hot. The jalapeños really were bad for me, but other than that, my chicken burrito was really good. Better than Chipotle and not much more expensive either. I shall come back for their dinner menu which starts at 4pm and has good stuff like roasted chicken and steak. The only downside is that it’s not a sports bar and so no TVs at all. It’s a place to be social. The beer selection is a bitter one. Literally. Service is too slow but somewhat responsive.

awesome margaritas, I had the blood orange frozen! the fish tacos were great and the margaritas PERFECT. Really fun environment. The service here is efficient but really nice.

Some of the best Mexican I've had in NYC! We went early on a Sunday evening and nearly had the place to ourselves! The staff were fantastic and the guac was to die for!

I come here every other month for happy hour just to stuff myself silly with their French fries smothered with an endless heap of toppings that you would normally find on nachos (including some very delicious steak). Add one or two blood orange Margaritas to complete the binge. This stuff is like crack, I just keep coming back.

Excellent Mexican cuisine, especially the ‘cheese fondue’ and enchiladas. Outdoor sitting was perfect today; and service was top notch. Great place to have a relaxing lunch after visiting Wall Street bull & WTC. :)

We came here for our families annual Cinco de Mayo celebration. The bar was packed and incredibly loud and our party of six were a bit worried the entire restaurant was going to be like that. They honored our 9pm reservation perfectly. Thankfully the dining rooms, though full, was a sane heaven amongst the revel goers Service was spotty as our waiter was exhausted from a very busy day. Food was mostly good to very good and except for some poorly poured shots (portions uneven and mixed shot glasses) the drinks were good as well. All in all we had a very good time and would return.

Went here for a New Year’s Eve dinner. Was amazing and so much fun. The Mexican band singing to us was great. Staff attentive and food brill. Best nachos I’ve tasted.

Greeted warmly on a cold night at one of our favorite spots. Place was buzzing yet the service, food and drinks were top-notch. Tasty and beautiful Fall Guacamole and Burnt Grapefruit Margarita started us on the right foot. Followed by two tasty and generous Enchiladas meals. Final, blow to the waistline was homemade Pumpkin Ice Cream. Wow, what a night! COYS

Prob the worst meal I’ve ever had in NYC. Went to bar, had beers and ordered to go. ‘Where’s the Meat’???? Lol Order chicken enchiladas. First one I ate, didn’t seem to have any protein. Opened the second one up, had 2 small slivers of chicken. Had the empanadita’s as well. That was 95% dough, with chicken I had to put my readers on to see. Thank god I got the beans and rice as well, that’s my dinner. Super disappointing and I’d never, ever go back for food. The bartenders were great, btw! Great service. And it says burrito bar, didn’t see burritos on the menu!

The food was delicious - enjoyed by an eight year old and an 80 year old (and several ages in between). Great flavour. Small and perfectly sized portions. Helpful service.

Staying at the Conrad hotel next door so nice and easy. Booked via yelp. Service and good was great, along with the ambience. Slightly pricey for Mexican food compared to NZ prices but couldn’t fault the food or service.

El Vez (the sit down, not the burritos to go area) is probably geared more towards tourists. It has a large seating area, and is conveniently located near tourist attractions. My co-workers and I came in for a team lunch on a Wednesday at around 12. The place was pretty empty. To start, we ordered some guacamole for the table. It was basic. Maybe even less than basic because it tasted a bit too limey and my coworker agreed. Since I wasn't too hungry, I just ordered the tortilla soup (chicken, avocado, crunchy tortillas, crema fresca & queso fresco). I feel like I've had better soup at the office cafeteria. The chicken had this weird leftover taste. I did like the cheese though. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing because I think the table over ordered the milanesa torta, which looked pretty great. On top of the sub-par food, the restaurant smelled like a really strong bathroom cleaner. Not exactly an appetizing smell when you're trying to enjoy your meal. I don't expect to be coming back to El Vez.

This was our first stop after we checked into our Battery Park hotel. It did not disappoint. We loved our food so much, we talked about returning during our two night stay! We didn't get to but will definitely try to make a return next time in NYC. The margaritas were creative and refreshing and the food was really delicious.

While exploring the area near the river by WTC, we ran into El Vez, a warm and cozy burrito bar on Vesey St. We loved the Dia de los Meurtos decorations, especially the Elvis portrait (we're big fans) we found near our table. We stopped in for brunch and were delighted with the service, drinks, breakfast burritos and quesadillas. Very reasonably priced, service was good, and the food was delicious and filling. We'll have to come back for dinner one evening.

The bar may be worthwhile but based on my experience there are better options nearby. Service was impossibly slow snd the food passable but only when our party was doing its best to stay positive. Just average where there are above average offerings.

the service was okay - they just dropped the food on our table. the ceviche was soggy, the fish taco was nothing special. The guacamole was good, but not good enough to every go back here. two thumbs down.

multiple selections of Mezcal and Tequila here. Food was good - had to try the Duck Molé which had lots of flavour. Gets super busy ... outdoor seating was a plus.

Friendly staff, fast service and good food. The highlight of the meal would be the sharing starter (chips with) salsa and avocado - it was really fresh and tasty.

I’m a Texas girl so to find GOOD Mexican food outside of Texas/New Mexico..... The margaritas were good, table side guacamole was average. However, the steak tacos were absolutely amazing! Fork tender perfect chargrilled yum!!! The chicken enchiladas were different but not bad just not authentic. The chirps with chocolate sauce were addictive. If your craving Mexican food it do.

Good atmosphere, good food and good service! Typical Mexican restaurant with several options on the menu. In addition to having good beers and Mexican drinks!

This is more like Tex Mex food. But REALLY GOOD Im Mexican, so TRUST me this is really good mexican food. If youre going for a tour around the harbor this place is like 100ft away from the docks. The services was excellent really fast and friendly the restaurant really nice and beautiful, really love the decoration.

Came here on a Friday night after watching a movie at the Regal Battery Park Cinemas. I was going to go to the Blue Smoke, but decided to do El Vez. I'm glad that I did! When you first walk in, you will see that El Vez has character. I love the lights/bottles on the wall and the open space. Our server was Vivianna. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable. The guacamole/chips and mahi mahi tacos were very tasty. I was blown away by my chicken enchilada entree. Drinks were great too! I give them credit for the creative margaritas. I had a hibiscus margarita, which was very tasty but weak in alcohol. I switched it up and had a classic El Vez margarita. This was definitely stronger and had a good kick. I'm looking forward to my next visit here. Very good drinks, great food, and atmosphere!

great margaritas! the food's pretty fantastic too. service attentive but not intrusive. the worst of it was the hostess whose attitude was unwarranted. i don't care how long the wait is; just answer the question without rolling your eyes.

The cocktails were varied and good. Special guacamole made with mangoes was delicious. I was not especially happy with the mahi-mahi tacos. The server mentioned that they were a favorite of many, but I found them a bit dry. A nice grilled piece of mahi-mahi would have been better. A chocolate bread pudding for dessert was good. I have listed that I would recommend to a friend because there were many things on the menu that I am sure were better than what I ordered. Service was good and wait staff knowledgeable. It is a busy vibrant place and for drinking and snacks it is great.

We dined once and ordered takeout twice during our family trip in December 2020. They have secluded plastic outdoor cabins with heaters, so it’s really safe and warm to dine here. The food is great n the service is outstanding.

It's a bar and a restaurant. Two of us went and ordered guacamole plus mama nachos to start. This would've been a whole meal. Had it not been for the fact that we'd already ordered tacos. Went back with kids. Equally good but son did not like lamb tacos. Would go back

Had dinner at El Vez and was pleasantly surprised. It was very crowded for dinner and I would suggest reservations. The margarita's are good, blood orange the best! Great food and good portions, but if you are really hungary you might need an appetizer etc. Service was good and friendly.

My experience with El Vez is that it usually takes some time to get your order of anything involving warm food. It's understandable because they're usually slammed, at least in the evenings. But don't come here if you're super hungry and expecting a meal to arrive quickly. The nachos are great--the pickled onions really make the dish. Their tamales and burritos are fine, as are the soft tacos. I like how if you get your margaritas with salt, they don't skimp on the salt or the alcohol. However in a city with so many great options, El Vez simply doesn't rank that highly for me.

Very average Mexican food. Much better options nearby. Service has been spotty the times that I visited. Its always busy, so maybe it's just not for me.

Got the chicken tacos for 2. Delicious! Drank 5 red pepper margaritas. They taste like a Bloody Mary and margarita had a baby. Staff is nice. Everyone around looked like they were enjoying the food. Definitely recommend if in the area.

I go occasionally with friends for food here, and while it's not really cheap, it is always very good food, and quite a happening place. They change up the menu occasionally, but for me, I really like the short rib enchiladas, but the variety platter is also a favorite, and the kitchen does a good job with everything I have tried. If you are going as a group, you definitely want to book ahead, as it can be very popular.

I costs during a jamming happy hour. Hard to move through the bar. Staff were good and accommodating given the volumes.

Start with great Guacamole and Sangria. Mix in some fantastic mahi tacos, "steak el vez" and lobster tacos and a party in your mouth materialised. Great time with family in this must-go Mexican restaurante!

Great place to dine outdoors after a wonderful day of inspirational art; friendly and helpful staff, inviting decor, great for families, nice bar scene for singles, there is a photo booth for fun great for groups (bridal showers)

We went to this place after reservation. Very nice place. Nice ambience. Nice food. Love the place Recommended

We were hankering for some Tex-Mex food, missing our home in Texas. The margarita was off-the-hook amazing. The blue corn eggs benedict was to-die-for. My daughter loved her nachos and the enchilada was amazing. Coming from Texas, chips and salsa are free at almost every restaurant, so we were a bit put-off because that was considered an appetizer that you'd pay for. And the prices in general seemed high to me. The service was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Very tasteful decorations and super cool bar. The food and service were worthy to return...although...don't charge for your chips and salsa!!! :-)

Fresh Guacamole to start - and the the short rib burritos were the best I've ever had - We stopped here after visiting the 9/11 memorial and museum. Was not very busy, and we were famished. The service was great and the food was fantastic. There were four of us and they made sure we were well feed and never let our glasses become empty - The prices were really reasonable - if you love Tex Mex, for something different in the City, be sure to give them a try!

I've been twice and on my next trip to lower Manhattan, it will be my third as this is by far the best Mexican food in New York City...a little Tex-Mex and a little something special...food quality is very good and prices are typical for NYC, especially if you have several orders of Guacamole and chips...it's still less expensive going into any of the shops across the street at Brookfield mall

Being from Texas, we were pleasantly surprised with the food. The guacamole was really fresh and delicious doing entrees were really good, just not as full of flavor as we are accustomed to. The server was super friendly and helpful and gladly brought us spicier options.

The restaurant is gorgeous and staff is really patient and caring, but the food is just mediocre.... i've eaten better mexican food in food trucks or in much cheaper restaurants. We ordered a lot of things, from quesadillas to ceviches and nothing lived to our high expectations. However, i still recommend this restaurant for big groups or special occasions because the place itself is really pretty and has such nice decoration and everybody is really nice there. The dinner was about 40 usd with tip included.

First-rate Mexican food, and most of it can be gluten-free. What more could a celiac want in a visit to New York City? The wait staff knows everything about each dish and is quick to make suggestions. Highly recommended.

Great food. Large drinks and serving sizes. They were very accommodating when we arrived a little bit late.

We had a private room with a big group of people. All of the food was well prepared with great flavors. Staff was extremely attentive and kept the drinks and food flowing. They appreciated we chose their restaurant and were helpful.

Birthday Celebration for Family Brought us here. The Nachos are really good as is the service and ambience. Thank you to GM Josaphat who made the meal special !

Ordered a Margarita and a Pineapple Ginger Punch. Ok drinks, but that was all that was OK. Mediocre Tacos, mediocre service, high prices. Really, there are thousands of places to spend your money and get some value back.

This restaurant is definitely a very place to spend an evening with friends or co-workers or take a date to. It has a large bar area where people drink and talk while standing, and there are areas where there are table, and you can have a dinner and even a quiet conversation. I have to say that this is the only restaurant where I saw a drink menu with quite a long list of Tequilas and Mezcals . And besides the drinks, the food menu looked very good, and the food itself tasted even better. Macho Nachos is a good choice to share as an appetizer, Duck Mole was excellent as a main course. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food, could explain how each dish was made, and was able to tell us what dishes were gluten-free, and which one were not. This was an excellent place that I highly recommend visiting.

What's not to love about starting dinner with a pitcher of frozen Blood Orange Margaritas? Not to mention the excellent home made chips, guacamole, and killer nachos. The queso fundido with huitlacoche isn't too shabby either. Our large group feasted on quesadillas, steak, shrimp, and mahi mahi tacos, and oxtail enchiladas. The childrens' menu has to be the best in the City. $9 buys a terrific variety of items including a marvelous pizza and Elvez' favorite peanut butter and banana sandwich! Incredibly, all the kids' meals come with beans and rice, grilled corn, chips and fruit. Of course, there's always room for dessert, and the chocolate bread pudding with ice cream and churros with Mexican chocolate dipping sauce do not last long! Very professional service and a super fun atmosphere. Only quibble, the ceviche plates (snapper and fluke) were overly liquidy and the portions were small. Oh well.

Great food. Decor is cozy with plenty of sitting. Our server Maria was a sweetheart, making recommendations on what to pick from dairy free options. We had the Tlayuda for appetizer (SO GOOD), mains was chicken tacos and tacos carnitas (good, but turns amazing with hot sauce; the hot sauce was fire!) and a side of really good vegetables. We left feeling stuffed. Definitely recommend.

Recently ate dinner here with friends and the food was delicious! We went on a Sunday around 6pm, and other then a few kids running around, the place was buzzing and the vibe was upbeat. Food was great, portions were perfect size and cocktails were good. My grilled fish tacos were excellent. Fantastic guacamole! The lighting was very dark and while I get ambiance, it was a Sunday evening so I would have preferred it not quite so dark. Had to track our server down a few times but he was so nice. These few things would not discouraged me from going back at all. Recommend!

El vez opened a burrito shop alongside their main restaurant. They have some seating and serve both rice bowls or burritos. Decent prices for the area and great tasting food and variety.

We stopped in at El Vez close to closing time. My daughter was really hungry. She ordered nachos and fish tacos. I ordered fish tacos and a bowl of tortillia soup. Everything was really delicious. The wait staff were so excellent. They are attentive and did a great job. The atmosphere is great. We really felt like we were getting away like on vacation. It's a great restaurant and we'll be back for another meal.

We came here with friends, it was our first night in NY. I was surprised by how big the restaurant was. Upon walking in there was a large bar area which was pretty full for a Wednesday night and past that was the restaurant. It’s really quirky inside with light sculptures made out of bottles and tile mosaics, it has a modern trattoria (I know that’s Italian, but that was the vibe I got) feel. There were 8 of us, 3 adults and 5 kids. They accommodated us easily (we did book), our waitress wasted no time in introducing herself and familiarising us with the menu. Drinks arrived quickly, kids meals were delivered fast and everyone enjoyed their meal. The food was fresh and there was plenty of it, and lots to choose from. Great options for kids. The guacamole was delicious and has great fresh flavours. My friend had the fish taco and I had the beef short rib enchiladas, both delicious. The kids finished off with some churros and they enjoyed them. There’s also a photo booth in the restaurant and they had fun with that too. We’d come back.

Burrito bar is a great lunch spot, the food is outstanding and very fresh so it makes the semi long wait at times well worth it. Went to the dining room recently and the food was even better. Nachos and tacos were amazing! I will be going back more frequently knowing the dining / sit down area is that good.

6star great drink great food. Staff super friendly soup great. Whole dinner great Pl love place. Emma was very knowledgeable and sweet and made great suggestions. We loved her glasses! We loved the sparkling white sangria. Oxtail for the win.

After a morning at the 9/11 museum we stopped here for lunch. For $80 we got 6 street tacos and a bowl of east coast tortilla soup. The food was mediocre at best and the service was one up from terrible. My shrimp tacos were cold on purpose, what I would expect from an appetizer menu. Paid $16 for a bowl of tortilla chips that would have been free at most Mexican restaurants. Our waiter was not friendly. Seemed irritated when we asked for still water. Begrudgingly refilled our flat cokes once. Just a totally unpleasant experience.

We had a party of seven for lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the Chicken Enchiladas. It was very good but too much enchilada sauce that was very rich. The Spanish rice and black beans was good. The chicken tacos very very good. The nachos were also very good. It took a while to get our check.

A great bustling location where the food and service was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Great to go to a restaurant where it is open and you can still hear each other speak.

Food was really good but taco portions were kind of small with no side included. Nachos were delicious and the highlight of the meal. The service was on point. I would go again

Arrived at around 7.30pm without a reservation and was offered either a bar seat or a 30 minute wait. We took the former. Food was very very good, service was good. Enjoyed the margaritas! Seemed like a popular and fun place.

First time to NYC and discovered our favorite restaurant ever! We love Tex Mex food and Day of the Dead décor, and this place knocks both outta the park – fugghedaboudit! Décor = 5.5 stars! – Amazing what they’ve done with the place, I could hang out there all day! Food = 5.5 stars! - Most delicious tasting chicken burrito either of us has ever had, bar none! Service = 4.0 stars – Top notch and professional, albeit an acceptable tad on the slow side Pricing = 3.5 stars - definitely a little on the pricey side, but for food this good in an atmosphere this awesome, I'd have to set aside some righteous bucks if I lived anywhere near this place :)

This is a great restaurant with very authentic food and a great atmosphere, plus they have a nice selection of margaritas. It was very busy so I recommend booking in advance.

Went with colleagues to El Vez for lunch and had a nice time. Menu has lots of choices though both the nacho appetizer and grilled fish tacos entree were not hot enough; it felt like they were pre made and timing to get them to the table was off. Bar looked good as a place for drinks but likely will not be going back.

Had a group lunch here, and really enjoyed it. I did not realize there was a solid place in downtown Manhattan with delicious Mexican food and drinks. Understand that eating lunch downtown tends to be on the pricier side of the $$ range here. BUT it is well worth it, as I had the Chicken Mission Burrito for lunch and did not eat until the next day! Good: -Nacho Mama: melted queso mixto, black beans, salsa ranchera, sour cream, pickled red onion & jalapeño -Chicken Mission Burrito!!! -Big space -Polite staff Bad -None

The nachos were out of the world ! Loved the cauliflower tacos and my husband loved his crab enchiladas! Good service and ambience ... was there on a Sunday night but the place was relatively busy

Great fresh and innovative Mexican food in a fun atmosphere. Try the shrimp and crab ceviche, and the crab or short rib enchiladas. And a variety of tequila based cocktails. Great for a group

My colleagues and I enjoyed a late dinner at El Vez. After a long and stressful day it was very pleasant to unwind with a couple of margaritas, guacamole and some tasty Mexican food.

Frequent this place because it’s by work - love love love the mahi mahi tacos - just add guac and you’re good! Not too big a portion size and always delicious. Restaurant is loud and they get a big crowd for drinks after work so be aware. Otherwise love the casual setting and fun atmosphere!

A party of 12 in NYC can be problematic. It was not for El Vez - they easily accommodated us and the food, service, and beverages were excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive making for a very fun and positive experience.

Have been a few times with people from work for drinks and food and always had a great time! Tonight went for dinner with my wife and was equally as good without the drinks :) We had the fundido carne, sweet plaintains and the shrimp and steak carbon for two - all were awesome!

Staff brought out wrong meals for kids brunch/lunch after waiting 30 mins. “Chef having a bad day”. Had to wait 20 more minutes for kids food to arrive. Don’t go there, chipotle or dos toros will be much more satisfying, better value without issues.

Staying around the corner at the Conrad (which is also spectacular, see my review) El Vez was just what this hispanic needed after a night of partying til 5am. We walked over for brunch (around 1pm) and started with a classic Michelada (look it up). It was superb. I proceeded to order the Chilaquiles Verdes which were fantastic, not too spicy and the portion was huge I didn't even finish it all, but of course that was attribute to the pitcher of margarita we had ordered which too was very very good. I enjoy freshness in my food and El Vez was fresh and hit the spot.

We went to El Vez today for brunch. We have been El Vez regulars for a while now but today's service and food quality was enough to put us off for life! The waitress was trying to be 'helpful' but instead ended up annoying us with her unhelfulness. My 3 year old sons meal did not come out after we had made a request for an alteration to his meal - the waitress clearly forgot to process the requests we had made. One of my friends food had a hair in it. My food and my husbands food was cold. My steak taco was undercooked. Ridiculous!! A very disappointing meal and we will be spreading the word to friends and family to avoid this place.

This is a great option if you are by the World Trade Center / 9-11 Memorial or staying downtown. It is a 2 minute walk from TWC. The food was delicious and came pretty quickly. We had the house margarita and they were very good. They have a good variety of Mexican dishes on the menu and a huge tequila list if that's your thing. The staff were friendly and attentive, and helpful if your from out of town.

Great chips and salsa! Margaritas were tasty too! The tortilla soup and steak tacos were good, nothing spectacular, but good. Great location for staying around Battery City Park- walking distance to many surrounding shops/restaurants.

The service was really attentive and good. We had some tacos and I had the fish tacos which were really nice. The drinks had a nice size and were well prepared. Can recommend this place if you stop by and looking for some good drinks and food.

Enjoyed quite an assortment of delicious cocktails every time I have visited. Good, attentive bar and dining service. The food is decent but not very impressive. I would return for the cocktails and bar scene vibe.

Back and doing well. Like everyone else all over the states, they are unable to find workers so they can't open up the entire restaurant and therefore there is a little wait to be seated. Not a big deal for us. I would call ahead and reserve a spot. Anyway, the staff got us seated and the manager helped to get us started. He talked with us for a bit and gave us recommendations. We ordered the gwac, carnitas tacos and the chicken enchiladas. Guacamole was good. Carnitas were good. Enchiladas were meh. Plenty of food for us. Servings were a good size. I guess we are Mexican food snobs since we have really great Mexican restaurants were we live. But this one is not bad. It's just OK. The greatest thing I've seen, so far is their touchless payment method. They bring you the bill. It has a QR that you photograph and the bill comes up on your phone. You pay and do everything, on your phone Including signing the bill. Pretty cool. Anyway, these guys are good and I can recommend them no problem.

Incredible time at El Vez - beautiful spot, lively but still easy to hear each other & food was delicious, as was the service!! Wouldn’t have tried the snapper if Omar didn’t recommend it but so happy we did - DELISH!

Food was good, service was too - and it was one of the few family friendly restaurants in New York that we found. Little extras like bag checking the stroller for us, made for a great experience

I went with a large group (including kids), and the staff was able to accommodate our group quickly, though I'd recommend reservations. Service was great, food was great, prices were very reasonable (considering it was in lower Manhattan). We sat outside, and even though it was raining, the awning kept us completely dry. Good meal, and absolutely no complaints.

First of all, the location is very nice with a short walk over to Memorial Plaza and the area affected by 9/11. The restaurant had a traditional Mexcian menu, with the normal choices. A very good selection of drinks though (mescal, tequila, magarita++). I tried the house recommended margarita and it was very nice. We had the Tacos for 2 setup, and it was great. Excellent tasting beef and chicken, super vegetables and accessories. Prices were also very good. I will come back.

Came here with a large party (8 people) and the staff did a great job making sure we choose house specialties which were well prepared and tasted great. The staff time everything well and made sure we had a good time, even with a guest arriving very late. The house margaritas were awesome.

It has been a few years since I have been to El Vez so I was glad to go with friends on a recent visit. The service was excellent and the food was enjoyable. I would go back.

Stopped in on a Friday night. Made reservations 45 minutes ahead of time. Was visiting One World Trade Center and found it at the last minute. A very lively place to grab a drink or dinner. Bar area was very loud, but we managed to get a table in the back left that allowed our party to talk and hear each other. Food was fantastic. No complaints!

We were located in a separate room and enjoyed a 4 course menu and a great, attentive service A nice selection of drinks, cocktails, wine and international beers was offered. All seem to be quite ok. The started were just great. We all very much enjoyed Nancho mama very much - you should give it a try. But also the kale Cesar salat was quite unique. A selection of enchiladas and tacos as main course also convinced that this is a really nice place to be, with fair prices.

Don't be put off by the front bar scene & noise. Make your way to the rear areas where it's quieter. The Mexican food was actually special and far above average taste quality. Tried the nachos and they are both unique and large, if you get them with just two diners, be sure to maybe split one entree afterward! Atmosphere has energy and a various crowd of mostly after-work locals and some tourists. Not really any complaints. I'd definitely visit again. I'd order the nachos again!

Love this place! Spacious, great food - sometimes service can be slow but 85% of the time it’s good. Favorite dish always is the mani mani tacos - YUMMY. Guacamole is great as are the tacos. It can get s but loud but food is always great! I’m at this restaurant at least once a week for business lunches or with friends.

What a wonderful surprise. Best Nachos and Guacamole, excellent service and value. Cannot wait to return

Mexican with an American twist. Decent margaritas. Average food - shrimp tacos were underwhelming, lamb tacos were good. Slow service. We dined outside which could be why the service was slower than "normal" - the bar scene was lively. Worth a try if you're in the area.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant. Will not be returning anytime soon. I waited 35 minutes to be told my order would be ready in another 20min. Used up my whole lunch for nothing

We hit this place up while staying upstairs at the Conrad Hotel. For some reason I thought it might be too fancy of a Mexican restaurant but when we walked in we knew we were in the perfect spot - casual yet nice, big bar (we love sitting at the bar), and a great selection of traditional food and awesome tequila. We had a couple 'skinny' Casamigos margaritas which were excellent (OK, we had a couple more!), chips and salsa, grilled chicken tacos and tortilla soup. All super tasty, we'd definitely go back!

My mom is from Arizona, and she says El Vez is some of the best Mexican food she's had on the east coast, so you know it's good. The spicy enchilada sauce was delicious. It was rather noisy, especially in the bar area. Wheelchair accessible.

I had a business lunch at El Vez in May 2019. It still has excellent Mexican food. I had guacomole with tortilla chips and black bean enchilidas. The food was delicious. The service was very good.

Had dinner at El Vez and was pleasantly surprised. It is very crowded in the bar and I would suggest reservations. The margarita's are good on the expensive side if you get a special tequila. My fish tacos were a perfect amount but if you are really hungary you might need an appetizer etc. Service was good. Tables are a little close to one another.

who ignore you and your guests as they all (it takes three impolite greeters?) watch a computer screen that spits out two different paper tickets, one after another -- after a minute or two of stony silence: the food is very good, and our server was excellent. We started with a "West Side" cocktail ($12) for my wife that was very good for something that was basically gin and a slice of cucumber; I had two good Classic Margaritas ($14 each) despite the big glass, needed for all the rocks that took up 90% of the space. It had less liquor than the West Side cocktail. The "Fundido Hongos" ($13) was a great alternative to the familiar nachos everyone else seemed to be ordering. My wife's "Whole Snapper" ($28) that came with fragrant coconut rice and unnecessary flour tacos with two dipping sauces, was very good, she said. My "Crab Enchiladas" ($18) looked like a single green log swimming in a green sauce decorated with crema -- I couldn't tell if there was one or two "logs" floating in the pool. Of course, the sauce overwhelmed the mild crab filling. Service was great. We'll try another of the many restaurants in the area before we go back here.

The food was absolutely delicious! Kinda more expensive but very close to the water and ground zero + very good food! Service was great too!

Every mouthful is delicious. We found our way to El Vez after taking a manhattan/lady liberty cruise. Food is incredible. The guacamole, the very best we have ever eaten. Our waiter, Patrick, was professional, friendly and could not have been more accommodating (as the boys wanted off-menu). Didn't even blink...took care of our every need. Thank you, Patrick for making this an awesome eating experience. Best food we've had since hitting NYC. Much love El Vez. Take the time to check this place out. You will NOT be disappointed. Oh, and ask for Patrick - superior service.

Really slow service, the menu does not have many options, a little pricey for what you get. The nachos were good but the chips and salsa were not. Not traditional salsa-more like pico de gallop. First Mexican restaurant I've ever been to that you don't get chips & salsa.

The chips and Guac at this place are on point! And I love the margaritas - especially the bell pepper margarita - has such an amazing kick! Highly recommend this spot for a drink (or four ;))!

I take a trip across town whenever I visit nyc specially to eat at el vez. The guacamole is always fresh and food is always great

Great family restaurant with delicious, fresh and interesting foods. Think Brussels sprouts tacos:) Noisy but pleasant atmosphere. Warm, huge tortilla chips and fresh guacamole to start on the house. I go every time I’m in lower end of Manhattan.

We were visiting Lower Manhattan and decided to try out El Vez for brunch. Lovely staff and terrific food....highly recommend!

Fair to midland, as my grandmother would say. Chicken Enchiladas had decent flavor but dry. The Roja sauce tastes like canned generic tomato sauce. They should at least offer Salsa Verde. Thankfully, I requested on the side. The homemade Black Beans were the best item. They were accompanied by rice that was hard in some parts and overall basic. The REAL disappointment was the Elote. It was Boiled and tasted water logged with Chipotle Crema slathered atop. Elote should ALWAYS be grilled or at least roasted! MAJOR missed opportunity. There's better in NYC!

A rarity in Manhattan, which is a spacious restaurant area with some decent acoustics, so you can ACTUALLY HAVE A CONVERSATION! Was there for lunch and the place was hopping, but you could still hear your guest speak. Service is courteous and professional, a little bit pushy to make sure you order. Not sure why that should be. Food quality is excellent and flavorful. I had the chicken burrito, which was spiced up as well as I've tasted. Entrees are served without any sides, and --unlike the best Mexican places in the suburbs-- you actually have to pay for the chips and salsa. Definitely a place I'd go back to and definitely a good recommendation for this part of Manhattan, where there are few restaurants of real substance that are affordable.
Great food! Great Service!
The micheladas are the best I've had in the city. They do it proper. The verduras were cooked perfectly as were the plantains. Holy moley! The Tito Santana guacamole! I got the short rib enchiladas. The service was great. As far as higher-end Mexican food goes, this is worth the money.
