We ate here during COVID. The food and service was excellent. We live in the neighborhood and will be going back again to dine. A little pricey.

Food and service was good. The moussaka was good with lots of meat, but not cheesy. The accompanying salad was needed a better dressing. The whole fish was very good as were the greens. The pasta with fish was excellent. Service was very good and there was a decent Greek wine list.

Quite far from the tourist areas, this restaurant is located in the (residential) district of Gramercy. We stopped there somewhat by chance, especially attracted by the idea of eating “Mediterranean” and, we hoped, healthy. Our culinary expectations were largely met and even exceeded: we found the true flavors of Greece; a real treat ! If you are passing by 3rd Avenue and 19th Street East, go there without hesitation!

Found my new favorite Greek restaurant. Very delicious food. The prix fixe is a really good deal and the portions are big. My whole family loved this place. Highly recommend!

Extremely inviting decor, you can dine inside or outside, good service, authentic cultural food choices

We ate lunch at Eleni's. The food was okay. The orzo soup was nice but the rest of the meal was pretty ordinary. The service was quite slow. We thought the prices were reasonably high to begin with (an ordinary Greek salad for $17) but we were really unpleasantly surprised at the end of the meal when the bill came and they charged an additional 10% for a "covid surcharge." I understand that restaurants have suffered and they may need to raise their prices or add charges. But they can't do that without telling the customer upfront! I saw nothing on the menu about the surcharge (and the menu has to be accessed on our phones). Others are also suffering due to covid, and it's just not appropriate to throw on an extra 10% charge without telling the customer.

I did not want to go to this restaurant. I was so wrong. It’s brilliant. The food is amazing and awesome. The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff and managers are nice and professional. We were a mid size business group. We had tons of food in sizes to sample. I ate soooo much. I am looking forward to my next trip to NYC and will, definitely, take my family. Go enjoy.

Just stumbled upon Eleni while in the neighborhood for a meeting. I needed a “quick lunch” due to an upcoming meeting. I asked the waiter if this would be possible, which he said yes. I ordered their Greek Salad which was wonderful. The outside seating also great….within clear plastic covering you from the people walking on the sidewalk. Very nice to have and still see the scenery. The service and price also fantastic! I’ll be back!

Eleni's is a family-owned Greek restaurant in my neighborhood and I pass by all the time. Decided to finally give it a try. Very nice decor including the outdoor dining space. My friend and I shared the Melitzana Feta starter which is roasted eggplant rolled and stuffed with feta cheese, tomato sauce, and organic parsley. Then I ordered the moussaka which came with an accompanying salad (see photo; it was a lotof food!) and my friend got the mussels. We were also given a small plate of pita with hummus. The services was excellent although we went for an early dinner (6:30pm). On the pricey side.

My wife and I and a friend went to celebrate our Anniversary. I know that my wife loves their Lobster with pasta so that's where we ended up. We were seated and eventually served their pita with humus. My wife wanted a glass i=of Reisling which unfortunately they did not have, We decided to order. WE ordered their calamari with a marinara sauce. Then the main dishes. My wife naturally had the lobster with the pasta our guest had the mussels and I had the chicken souvlaki. I was eating the pita with the humus awhile waiting and asked for some extra hummus( they brought a small dish and ended up charging us for it!). The calamari arrived and it was good but not enough marinara sauce, The main dishes arrived and my wife liked her lobster and our guest liked his musssels. I on the other hand did not like the chicken souvlaki, I had our guest try it and he agreed that it was dry and not very tasty. When I told the waiter he was incredulous that it was not good. My wife being the diplomat that she is humored the waiter not wanting to hurt his feelings and said that I was probably not hungry and would take it home. When it came to dessert my wife asked if they had tiramisu and the waiter replied this is not an Italian restaurant. When we asked about cheese CAKE HE REPLIED MAYBE I'LL GO ACCROSS THE STREET and see if they have some! We ended up with their baklava which was dry and not very tasty.

Having gone to Greece last year before COVid , I loved the vibe of white decor with splashes of blue. This charming corner restaurant family owned and run was a lovely and flavorful experience. Our traditional Greek parties were delectable and the lamb was soft and tasty. Highly recommend this upscale spot.

Appealing restaurant. Attentive friendly staff. Food was excellent- Eleni's special, linguine with salmon. My daughter especially like the light flaky spanikopita. Prices reasonable. Definitely worth a visit

Nice restaurant in new york city. Greek food. People were nice and food was good. Music inside. A good experience in complex.

Five of us, with the whole range dietary preferences, evryone was catered for and really enjoyed their meal. The food was excellent and our server was friendly and efficient.

I walk past here all the time and never ate there. We finally decided to to try it. The food was really good and we enjoyed the choices we had. The service was terrible and we felt like we were invisible in plain sight. The expresso was cold, which I really dislike.

We go to Greece annually for the past 7 or so years and missing it last year was one of the hardest traditions to postpone, given the pandemic. Discovering the exceptionally authentic and family-owned Eleni's has been a true delight. The food is top-notch, the service is warm and hospitable, and ownership evinces a genuine care and charm that is inimitably Greek. Ask for a table outside for great people-watching on Third Avenue (decidedly NOT Greek haha) and a cold bottle of Assyrtiko. Nibble on crunchy, non-greasy Spanikopita and have the fish special - whatever it is that day. And make sure to befriend the sisters who run the show up front. You'll be glad you did. Yammas!

Good ambience, food is very average(-). Service acceptable, but we found error on the bill and instead of fixing it, the waiter casually said, it is a computer glitch. The “special” sea bass was topped with tomato sauce, you couldn’t get the taste of the fish. Best , AVOID

My friend and I stumbled upon this place when we were walking and thought it would be good to have our last dinner in New York here. We had booked a table and were seated in the outdoor lean to attached to the front of the restaurant. There is also seating on the pavement at the side of the building and another enclosed seating area opposite where we sat right on the street. The staff were friendly and attentive, my friend found them a bit try hard but I thought they were nice, although they seemed to disappear as the evening went on, particularly when we were trying to pay our bill. Tap water was left in a bottle on the table but it got a bit annoying when the waiter came and topped us up as he had to keep leaning over the entire table. We shared halloumi for starters which was nice and I had lamb chops for main which came with homemade chips, they were delicious but I would have preferred some vegetables. There were only 3 lamb chops but this ended up being plenty. For dessert I had chocolate mousse which was a variation of profiteroles. They were light but really filling and I couldn't manage all 3. The meal was washed down with a non-alcoholic cocktail which they made especially for me. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant was nice and it was really lively inside. Although I couldn't believe they only have 1 toilet for the entire restaurant. It was also quite pricey but a nice experience.

I ate dinner here last night with my son and his girlfriend. It was excellent! We were there for a very early dinner, 4:15pm, so had the restaurant to ourselves. The staff was great, extremely friendly and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the Pikilia to start (asst. greek spreads with warm pita, the spicy feta was a favorite) the Eleni chips (zucchini and eggplant chips with tzatziki, fantastic) the Eleni pasta ( salmon over linguine with white wine cream sauce and tomato- LOVED) and the moussakas which my son said was delicious. We finished with the chocolate mousse and Galaktompourika whis was so light and delicately sweet. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We were in NYC celebrating our anniversary. I figured I'd try a Greek restaurant due to my wife's Greek heritage. The service was not overly friendly and the food was just okay. Everyone has an off night. That said, we'd be willing to give them another try when we visit the city again.

I found this restaurant by chance after doing the FRIENDS EXPERIENCE... and wa so glad I did. I cannot call myself a restaurant expert however I would like to leave a very positive review for this place, the food, the service. Everything was delicious and the place so well furnished. The waiter John was really sweet. My daughter and I were so full at the end that we barely had room for dessert. John was kind enough to put it in a bag for us to enjoy later, and we actually did! Considering how costly NY has become I have to say that I found a good compromise as well between price and quality, once again the food was really great. I do have enjoyed having lunch there.

The waiter was very knowledgeable about dishes and wines. 6 of us shared dishes, everything was authentic and delicious

What a friendly atmosphere with top notch service, lovely setting (both indoor and out) and delicious Mediterranean cuisine! Maria and Themis made it such a memorable evening for our family. The appetizers of octopus and warm pita with spreads started the night off right. Seafood entrees and perfectly grilled lamb chops continued to impress and finally topped off with shots of mastiha liquor. We will definitely be back!

We just had lunch here and what a great time. Very nice servers/staff, a large traditional menu, & great wine list full of Greek wines. We had three dishes all excellent - the Dolmadakia (Grape leaves stuffed with rice, pine nuts, raisins, and extra virgin olive oil) were super; the Spanakopita was delish and the Horiatiki (aka Greek salad) with a huge piece of baked salmon. All good, all fresh and washed it down with a bottle + couple glasses of their excellent Gentilini Robola of Cephalonia, a pinot grigio type varietal. We're in town a few more weeks and will return!
Not worth it
For our first indoor dining since the pandemic we went to Eleni's. It was a bit of a bummer. We ordered the snapper fish special and made the mistake of not asking the price. It was $80. It came with 2 tiny potatoes and a tiny dish of vegetables. Come on. The bill also included a covid charge. Super expensive meal for nothing special. Won't be going back.
