Fabulous

By Sjoerd V |

We had the idea to be in a reallife SOAP of 'gays in New York' ~ it was fabulous. We enjoyed the food — perfect service and goodlooking guys! RECOMMENDED!! :)

Great Atmosphere

By NYCMascTraveler |

I discovered this place in Chelsea not long ago and love it! Very fun environment and the food is excellent. Love their burgers and salads. Their soups are excellent. Highly recommended.

Great food!

By NikkiElois |

Great atmosphere, reasonably priced and the food was great! I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Mahi Mahi Tacos.. very tasty. My friend had the Lasagna and that was really good!

Great Place to Eat

By Gaye B |

Elmo is a great place to eat when visiting NYC. Conveniently located on 7th Avenue in the Chelsea district, the food is extremely good. Can't say enough about the service, very professional, efficient and friendly. You won't be disappointed if you visit for a meal.

Ok food, big portions

By Vibeke H |

For startes we had the calamari, sweet/spicy wings and pop corn shrimps. Big portions, a lot of food. Calamari was delicious. The chicken paillard was so good, with freshley fried cucumbers and mini tomatos.

Delicious breakfast

By Ststorck |

I went there on a Sunday to have brunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely return.

Brunch

By Scott_R_Seattle |

American style bistro, good brunch fare, reasonable prices, spotty service, nice inside atmosphere with outside seating

A Nice CandleLit Dinner

By Devonta |

Elmo's is one of those places I can usually count on to provide me with a good meal. When I go I order the roasted chicken or salmon which are both pretty good. The service can be spotty but the food is always good. A very mixed crowd of individuals meeting after work to grab a bite to eat. Not tourist.

Great neighborhood spot

By Gaf |

We love coming here for a solid meal, especially the chicken fried chicken. And amazing cocktails. Best martinis. Plus service is always warm and friendly. Outdoor seating in the summer is always great for people watching too.

Terrible drink and fries

By Tamar G |

Watermelon martini tasted like soap and truffle fries was horrible, no truffle what so ever, tasted like burned oil. Glad didn't stay for dinner. Very expensive too for terrible quality. Fries $11.50!?

Simple Food - Great for Lunch

By Patrick |

Located in the heart of Chelsea, Elmo is a fine place to go and have a bite or a cocktail. The food (in this case lunch) was reasonably priced and well prepared. Don't expect anything overly fancy, and don't go hoping to have a nice glass of wine. The wines by the glass are drinkable, but as with any place that lists their wines as simply "Chardonnay", "Sauvingnon Blanc" or "Rosé" without even a country of origin, the choices are underwhelming. Stick to the cocktails.

Easy and safe lunch choice

By aWorldTraveller007 |

Good choice for either breakfast or lunch when in Chelsea. The service is right on the spot and quick. They have great sandwiches and salads. The tomato soup is nice. If you don't care about carbs, the macaroni and cheese with slab bacon is yummy. Good choice for take out.

Funky place but the food!

By Konrad D |

We were passing by and this place looked really funky so we decided to drop in for a late night dinner. The service was friendly but unfortunately the food was terrible. All of it was pre-prepared and very stale. The salad looked like and tasted like it had been sitting around for a couple of days. The meatballs were brought out tepid and had obviously been microwaved. The accompany toasted bread and cheese was as dry and tough as an old boot. The kitchen needs to lift its game as the food was really quite unacceptable for a venue claiming to be an upmarket and quite expensive restaurant.

Excellent new and great vibe

By tallworth11 |

My husband and I found this location while walking back from the High Line Park. We were happy to discover it. He had watermelon salad and I had the herb salad. Both were delicious. He had the pork chop and I had the steak frites. I substituted frites for sweet potato fries and wilted spinach for creamed spinach. Both substitutions were made with no problem. Both steak and chop were very large and flavourful. Excellent wait staff too! Great find.

Awesome and delicious food

By Greg M |

We both had sandwiches. My wife ordered the salmon, bacon and avocado sandwich with fries and I ordered the steak, cheese and caramelized onion sandwich with fries. Great place to eat - certainly gets my recommendation.

Amazing eggs in NYC

By irresistibl |

Place has a great vibe, good service, and amazing eggs for a hearty breakfast! Waiter/waitresses are nice and the cost is low.

Restaurant of No Return

By Ronald |

There are better restaurants with friendlier staff in Chelsea. Went with a party of nine and asked for a separate check because I planned on leaving early. Was told that they "don't split checks" for large groups. OK, that's their policy; however, that's no reason for the waiter to be rude and patronizing. Bye, bye ELMO!

Very Good BUT Very Loud

By Hugh |

Great food, creative and delicious but the place is an echo chamber of thumping, throbbing disco bass - not easy on the digestion. The place is a very lively bar which intrudes noisily on the lovely dining area. It made it difficult to fully enjoy an absolutely delightful meal. A Sound barrier beween the bar and dining room would help greatly

Comfortable atmosphere and quick service

By Larry S |

I eat here every time I go to NYC. The food is good and the service is quick. Sunday brunch is especially good. Popular place for locals and is usually filled up on Sundays. Friendly bartender too who makes great martinis.

Good food for reasonable price

By GaiusOctavius04 |

The restaurant is a little bit away from the hot spots in NY but it's worth to go. The interior is very nice, maybe a little bit dark but tasteful decorated. We had cocktails before dinner. They have been really good as they were not the usual cocktails which you get everywhere. Really interesting combinations of ingredients. The dinner also tasted very good. The service was friendly. Nothing to complain. Overall the price/quality ratio was reasonable for midtown NYC.

Cute atmosphere but food and drink mediocre

By Pamanimalrescue |

Walking around Chelsea, our group looked for a nice restaurant. Someone had read a review of ELMO, so we went there. No table outside so we sat inside. Music a bit too loud for conversation. The watermelon martinis looked amazing with a huge wedge of watermelon on the rim. Taste? Chemicals and too sweet. Kind of like a Jolly Rancher. Not a fan. Couldn't drink it. Food was decent. Fries were good, fried chicken okay, steak okay. Dessert menu less than tempting. Waiter mixed up the bills. We were there on business and asked for separate bills for food and liquor. He didn't get it right and it took some time to get his attention again to fix it.

Delish

By connecticutjoe |

We had brunch here over the weekend and it was devine!we all had screwdrivers to start...made with fresh squeezed oj!and an order of cinnamon buns for the table.they were cooked to perfection light and flaky. I had the salmon BLT, another had the club, one had a kale omelet served with chunked home fries, while another tried the salmon benedict...all done perfectly! Waitstaff very friendly atmosphere terrific..a perfect weekend brunch!

Saturday brunch in Chelsea

By Nancy G |

Renting an apartment in Manhattan for a week, we mostly prepared breakfasts at home. Saturday looked promising, so we headed for a place we had noticed on 7th Avenue, and landed a table outside. This place is really fun. Great service, very good food, and a friendly vibe. My husband had eggs Benedict while I had eggs nova. The poached eggs, hollandaise, English muffins were great while he had Canadian bacon, and I had Nova Scotia salmon. The dishes came with potatoes ( OK) and greens ( so- so). A heavy disco beat on the way to the restrooms added a fun accent to a lively brunch.

A true gem

By Cheryl p |

A terrific combination of great food, excellent service and stimulating atmosphere. The presentation was pleasing. All in all we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly!

Surprisingly Intimate, Reasonably Priced & Spacious

By Arthur G |

We were looking for a restaurant where some of our guests who were vegan could get a great meal while also providing an ample selection of salads as well as burgers for the rest of our party. Elmo met all these requirements! In addition, our waitresses were helpful, courteous and kept us content as we enjoyed our dinner. Elmo has a gigantic menu with a wide variety of “ Starters”, “ Small Salads”,”Big Salads”, “ Entrees” , “ Signature Cocktails “, plus burgers, food for sharing and desserts. I was impressed by their prices and how reasonable they were! My grilled wild sea bass, served with fresh cherry tomatoes, zucchini, basil and corn succotash was only $26! The portion was large and the fish was moist and delicious. My wife started with the tuna tartare which she lived and then had the pan roasted salmon. For dessert, the 7 of us shared their “Milk and Cookies” and “ Elmo’s Famous Fudge Brownie” that was served with hazelnuts, vanilla ice cream and topped with fudge. I thought the brownie was outstanding but I felt the chocolate chip cookies were a little disappointing. Overall, I felt we had been treated magnificently! Although we were a large party, we were seated in the rear of the restaurant where it was quiet and intimate. And given how expensive restaurants in New York City can be, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices of the entrees and Salads. My one complaint was that while there were prices listed for most of the items on the menu, the Signature Cocktails did not have prices and I was a little startled by the cost of my “ White Peach Sangria “, was $14. I would have preferred to know what our drinks cost when placing our orders and while I could have asked, I know that’s where restaurants make their money,

Fun atmosphere, good food

By X375IEelizabethg |

The food here is great, but nothing mind-blowing. The atmosphere is always very lively and fun. The drinks are really good and usually really strong!

Good value

By Dale J |

Great gay friendly restaurant. Victor our waiter was very attentive even though he was extremely busy. The food is good and a great price for NYC. We had the mahi mahi tacos which were fresh and the meatloaf very flavorful. The setting is vibrant and worth the trek from the theater district.

This place is hoppin!

By cleavetoo |

Stopped by on a Friday night. Place was packed. Food was epically good. Two in my party had the Chicken Fried Steak with Broccolinis (they normally serve it with Green Beans) and a Garlic Mash . The chicken was perfection and the gravy was super scrumptious. Had to ask for a little extra gravy. For starters we had their wings and some sweet potato fries. There were some wonderful bottles of wine. The service was attentive despite the full house. Great place to have a meal with friends. They have outdoor seating as well.

Enjoyed it

By M B |

Had a casual lunch there with friends and family. A party of 6. Service was good, everyone was happy with their food. Pleasant atmosphere, and although we ate mid-day and there were plenty of other patrons, it was not as noisy as many NYC restaurants can be.

Great for Parties

By Moises M |

Attended a birthday dinner here a few weeks ago, and the food was really good. Friendly service, and the decor for the holidays made the large restaurant feel cozy. The tomato soup was a delicious.

Family Dinner

By julierayc73 |

Casual dinner environment. The menu contains traditional comfort foods and some trendy food items. The service was excellent and knowledgeable about the menu providing recommendations.

Fun and affordable

By Michael K |

I visited this restaurant several times in past few years. Few Birthday celebrations, mostly for dinner and drinks. Great place for pre-pride snack and cocktails( if anyone really eats then ). Charming staff althou sometimes they can get little too casual and that can become sloppy. I have to notice its has been much better service vise in past 6 monhts or so. Female staff defiantely helps. If you are looking for a decent food, great ambiance, affordable and casual fun place to gather with friends and relax Elmos is the place to go. Overall its a fun place !

Blood Orange martini was a hit

By Cathy R |

Great service here, Cat, our server was 100% dedicated to our satisfaction. We enjoyed the Elmo salad which was huge, meatloaf and Fried Chicken was superb. Place was busy, had energy and we loved it.

Known for the watermelon martini, but the food should have its own reputation too!

By James K |

Elmo is a frequent haunt for various colourful characters in Chelsea, and is staffed by an eclectic mix of excitable and friendly staff who always make your evening. Food is contemporary, of very good quality, and drinks are exceptional. Pricing is slightly higher than nearby Westville, despite similarities with the food, yet Elmo's is a more refined and exclusive interior. A nice spot for dinner, certainly.

Food & Drinks

By Nigelmcevoy |

Booked this restaurant on open table based on recommendations and it didn’t let us down. Great greeting shown straight to table. Offered drinks menu and food menu with no pressure to rush us, cocktails were really good, food was quick but good time between courses. We finished the night by sitting at the bar to have a few drinks. Staff all really good, even though 1 main was messed up, it was changed and nothing was a problem. One to visit and in terms of value compared to places on times Sq it’s really good value.

Great food, ok service

By Caitlinh93 |

Super tasty food at a reasonable price! I got the miso salmon and it was delicious! Service was a little slow but as we were in a group it wasn’t too bad. Nice vibe in there

Consistently good food and drinks

By William S |

Are there more "hip" places to go for brunch or lunch or dinner in Chelsea and the surrounding area? Sure. But Elmo is always serving good food at fair prices and the drinks are excellent also. Plus, at 10,11 or 12am on the weekends, when the other places are over-crowded and noisy, the large, comfortable Elmo is like an oasis.

Nice Place

By Ryan H |

I've visited Elmo a few times over the years. It's a great, welcoming place for all. The food is great. And, the drink menu is extensive with a variety of mixed drinks. It always seems like Elmo is a bustling place where anyone can have a blast.

The staff need better management

By ChristopherVDV |

We came here for dinner but could hear the music down the street. It's a bar and restaurant, but anyone eating near the bar won't be able to hear each other talk over the noise. We overlooked that and continued here anyway. We ordered the 3 piece sharing starter, which came out on a 3 tier cake stand - not the most practical idea when you have to reach up to get hot chips off the top tier that you can't actually see. We then sat and waited for it to be cleared for our main meal... and waited... and waited. 30 minutes after finishing our starter, our waitress/server had still not cleared our table, despite walking past us and see we'd finished numerous times and even offering my partner a refill of his coke. We saw our mains come out, but the guy assumed it wasn't ours as we still had our cake stand starter thing on the table and walked around looking where to put the meals. Eventually he realised. Unfortunately the mains didn't make up for it either, the meatloaf was bland and the rustic cavatelli was slightly spicy, which wasn't mentioned on the menu. Not an awful place, but wasn't great either.

Fantastic food and cool atmosphere

By Oklahomie |

We stumbled upon this place on our way to the comedy club. Stopped for dinner with no expectations and were very impressed. The crab cakes were delicious and the restaurant had a really cool vibe.

A must every time in nyc

By Steve S |

One of favourite restaurants that I always have to make a trip to when in NYC. Great staff, great food and fab atmosphere.

Solid 4-star dining with pleasant outdoor seating

By dallas_blah |

The GF and me had a solid 4-star experience at our first visit to Elmo: The service was good, the food was very good, and the prices were similar to what we'd find at a comparable restaurant. We liked the outdoor seating. Here's the dinner details (Tue 08/09/2016): Rose, glass, 9 Apermosa (cocktail), 12: This is an Aperol Spritz. It was smaller and more expensive than most for this drink. I'd order wine or a strong cocktail on a future visit for more value Lemon turmeric fries, 7: tasty; could be crispier Mahi mahi tacos, 18: very good, tasty tortillas, no sides was a bummer Chicken Paillard, 19, very good BONUS: The GF said the wine list is a friend of the people.

Good food, GF on request

By madkeenkiwi |

We had a hard time finding good food in New York that catered for both Gluten free and vegetarian. Once we found Elmo we ate there 3 nights in a row. The portions are big and the food is tasty. The service is Good and the atmosphere is great. You can book online through open table, too easy.

Yummy!!!!

By mum613 |

Had a late lunch and thoroughly enjoyed all offerings. The blood orange Cosmo was to die for...appetizers of calamari(crisp, not greasy, tasty), chicken wings(the sauce was a wonderful surprise, not the same old) and nachos (with a tasty guacamole & diced veggies) all were devoured. The main dish crab cakes were delish as were the mahi mahi fish tacos. Would definitely return for another meal.

4.5/5 great all rounder! FANTASTIC COCKTAILS

By D C 82 |

we had been recommended by a friend who said its his "go to place when stuck for a Chelsea dinner/brunch". the atmosphere is great, lively, fresh, modern with the lighting just a little too cold - perhaps this could be warmer toned... the staff, from entry, ordering, collection of plates, drinks delivery to exit were perfect - friendly, attentive, smiley, and looked like enjoying their work.. the food - well it was good; not write home to Mama, but, i agreed with my friend - a good "go to if stuck" but would probably add that i WOULD definitely add it to your dining places in NY if you have more than three nights stay. we had amazing calamari and the prawn starter was HUGE> and hot! mains - my meatballs were fine, not Italian quite, but as good as but slightly too dense, the other half had a fish but dont ask me what it was as i dont like fish!. he seemed happy. but, BUT the water melon cocktails were AMAZING. i had three. i paid for it trying to stumble to the next bar... definitely a go to venue.

Wonderful Meal, Will Return

By Haifisch101 |

We went to Elmo in New York City’s Chelsea District before attending a theater performance. Elmo has an eclectic menu, which we found to be excellent. We shared an appetizer of calamari and a side order of kale salad - which could have been a meal by itself. Main courses were crab cakes with a very large salad and mahi-mahi tacos All dishes were very well prepared (both calamari and crab cakes were grease free), of generous quantity, with high quality ingredients and nicely presented. Only the crab cakes seemed over-salted Service was friendly and attentive without being obtrusive. Decor is modern and tasteful (with no TV in sight!), however, noise is a potential problem, as the acoustics seems to magnify conversations from around the room. All-in-all, we enjoyed the experience and will be back in the near future.

Good food, convenient location

By Istanbulapt |

We had Salade Nicoise with salmon, chicken wings, cauliflower dip and they all tasted good. The ambiance of the restaurant was good and there was no wait at the door which was very convenient. The only negative aspect was the the server did not know anything about what the bar could offer.

Birthday Brunch

By Frank F |

Chelsea staple for good food and friendly servers, except the bartender 😳. Perfect for people watching too.

Lovely meal

By SiTaps1967 |

Had a great meal here. Food was lovely.Took our young boys and it was a bit noisy but still worth it. The food was great value for money. Would highly recommend it

🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈 Best home cooking in NYC

By Chris W |

Consistently great food and service. In the heart ❤️ of Chelsea with great food and cocktails. We had the truffle fries, burgers and hearty salads with lots of delicious cocktails. Great vibe and friendly super gay service 🏳️‍🌈

Loved It

By edinburghgillian |

We celebrated our friends 40th birthday here and had the best night!! The restaurant looks great but it was the service and the food that made the evening. We were looked after by Weston and he was 1st class, he was attentive, made great suggestions and made sure that the whole evening was fun!! It was my first visit but the next time that we visit NY we will certainly return..top marks.

Decent food, fun vibe. Reliable

By Anthony_Partipilo |

Been here twice. Food is a safe bet, yummy and service is good. Nothing to complain about. Atmosphere is definitely more for friends, but also for large groups. Patio is nice for couples.

Great prices for healthy food

By Cindy A |

We enjoyed the atmosphere here and the food was reasonably priced, healthy, tasty. The service was great and smoothly followed through on some gifts that arrived to the table since we were celebrating a special occasion.

Vibrant, hip, great food, great service

By Michelle B |

My husband and I went here late after a Knicks game and it was the perfect late night meal. He had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Who knew fried chicken with a few sauces to pour on could be so amazing! I had the eggplant with balsamic. It was also excellent. Our server was really friendly, happy, and excellent at recommendations. There is definitely an alternative vibe about this place. If you are not a gay friendly person you should steer away as it won't be your place and I think the ambiance and your discomfort will take away from your food and experience. It is also loud so if you aren't comfortable with that then you shouldn't go. My husband and I thought it was an amazing restaurant. We loved the vibe and the music. Overall, it was a great experience:) and would go back for sure. We absolutely thought the waiter was fabulous and he raved about working there and said he had been working there for seven years and that the owners were amazing to work for:) that says a lot of a place that servers love what they do as it reflects in their service! Great choice for a NYC experience!!

Amazing Lunch

By andy p |

After some research for good places to go for lunch. We chose Elmo. The team are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was great and some really good music played in the back ground. The menu was great too. I would definitely recommend the meatloaf. There was a good range of great beers, wines and cocktails. Love it!!

Very uneven.

By NYNYGIraffe |

I went to Elmo for lunch about a week ago and had a very good pulled pork sandwich. So I went again yesterday with my husband and we both ordered omelets. They were terrible. We do not plan to return. I would give it a miss unless you want to gamble.

Good General American/Continental Fare

By Work_Travel_13 |

Good was good (too bad we're surprised when we have a good meal). Same for service - which can be a hit or miss in NYC. Good option for date night or hight out with friends: good menu, drink options.

Still great

By Terri |

We first visited Elmo 7 years ago, we have recommended this place to all our friends who have visited New York. We had steak with truffle fries, great food and a great price. Cocktails are strong and a great price too. Great restaurant we will be visiting again.

Hidden Gem

By salopchef |

Me and my wife had some time to kill before an appointment at Kleinfeld Bridal and found this restaurant close to it. It was a very hip and modern restaurant with staff to boot. We ordered drinks and a steak sandwhich and fries which arrived very promptly. It tasted amazing and was certainly bigger than expected. Price was very reasonable and the girl who served us was very helpful and professional. Great find and would thoroughly recommend to anyone.

Busy Place With Very Mediocre Food At Best

By Howard G |

We went with friends who recommended Elmo. The place was full and hopping. Unfortunately the food was not even mediocre. I had a crab sandwich melt which was primarily mayo with very little crab--Ugh!!!! The only decent thing was a cobb salad which anyone can make. Service was just ok. In Manhattan there are much better restaurants.

Nice place

By Stéphane C |

The restaurant is very nice and food excellent. A little bit noisy inside as everytime in US. Do not hesitate to have a table on terrasse.

Great veggie burger, poor service

By Angie W |

This is a great place for lunch on a weekday when they aren't too busy but the servers are not so great on any day and weekends overwhelm them. I LOVE the veggie burger and the salmon BLT but it's not worth the long wait to be served (even when the restaurant is slow). I suggest only using cash here since they double charged my credit card and I probably won't take biz lunches here after that!

Good Food, Great Service

By sbenjamen |

My first visit to Elmo and it will be favorite moving forward. Went with two friends. The waitperson was attentive and super efficient. The food was delish - had the Mac & Cheese, the orange salad and a beer. Contrary to another reviewer they split the check with no fuss. We ate outside and the vibe was upbeat and fun.

Great value

By Anthony M |

We dined at Elmo’s twice last week and the quality and service were both times excellent. The staff is helpful and kind, the food tastes fresh and the ambience is great. All over great value for reasonable pricing.

Amazing salads, fast service and for people watching

By CityHopperLondon |

Great place for drinks, lunch or catching up with friends. Service is friendly and very fast. Food is good and healthy. I could make this my local if i would live there.

So So food in a great décor

By K Willie Padonkadonk |

Had the Steak Frites...every thing on the plate was over salted..... blood orange cosmo was excellent though. Partner had pasta primavera also was lacking unfortunately. Service: have to agree with some other reviews that the service was not great either. The host that seated us served us a lovely side of attitude...however he seemed to do that with most other patrons...The waitress was ok but didn't seem interested in giving us any time to look at the menu...was a bit rushed. We spent 240$ food, cocktails & a bottle of wine with the tip. Really disappointing from a restaurant that came highly recommended. There are so many other restaurants in NYC that will provide you with impeccable service & food for that chunk of change. Sorry won't be returning.

Terrific restaurant in every way!

By Pamwiltravel |

I had a meatloaf sandwich which was out of this world. It had tiny caramelized onion rings included in the sandwich. YUM! Our waitress was super attentive, and she was also very efficient. The place seems to draw a broad spectrum of customers, and the ambiance is very cheerful.

ALWAYS FABULOUS!!!

By Brian P |

Elmo is always a HIT! I made a rez online for 4 people on a busy Friday night at 8pm. We were seated right away and greeted by the waiter quickly. We were seated in the middle of the back section of the large dining room. There is a long bar towards the front, seating off to the side, outdoor tables, and the large main dining room. Our waiter was friendly, personable, & professional. Our drinks & food all came out great, well-timed, & delicious. We opted out of dessert for another round of drinks! Without fail, you can always count on a great time here! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Great fun spot in Chelsea

By agnes9971 |

What a friendly welcoming fun place. Staff is friendly and kind. Space is big and airy with energetic feel. Food is very good and cocktails well done. Great location in Chelsea

Fun place with good food.

By bandman15 |

Fun place with good food. Reasonable prices. Restaurant is noisy but wait staff is attentive and service is fast. Small bar area but a nice list of special cocktails. I had the chicken club sandwich which was huge! Great sweet potato fries!

Bustling place

By MelDC |

Great drinks, OK food. Seemed to be more of a place to be seen versus a place to have a great meal. Outdoor patio.

Others really enjoyed everything

By Robert S |

This is a tricky review. I was with a table of 4, and another table of 5. Everyone enjoyed their food, but me. Most people got basic food, I thought I was as well. My tuna was so fishy and chewy, I could not finish it. I continued to burp it up for the rest of the night. I had chicken for dinner. It was ok. I had some special drink they were pushing. Actually, it was pretty good. The service was outstanding. The price point seemed good.

Great Cob salad!!

By pittHD |

Elmo's was recommended by a friend. They have a nice menu. A few items done well, priced fairly. I like that they offer breakfast all day (at least on this Saturday) and had a nice selection of sandwiches and salads. I had the Cob Salad, and I have had a lot of Cob Salads and it ranks with the best. It had a great vinaigrette that was perfect portion. Do not get your dressing on the side! They know how to do it. And the salad had great bacon, avocado, veggies and blue cheese crumbles. It was most excellent. It didn't seem overly busy, as we were seated without a wait. But, it took ages once our order was taken to receive the food. So they must have been short-staffed in the kitchen. Mitchell was our waiter and he was friendly. He mentioned ours was the next check up, so he sensed we had been waiting a long time for our food. Would definitely recommend.

A consistent favorite

By 202DCGuy |

The ambiance, food, and service was great. Lots of positive energy in this place. I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy myself.

Good Food with Lively (Loud) Atmosphere

By NewYorkCityTrekker |

I've eaten lunch here on several occasions during the week. Sandwiches are very good and service is helpful and attentive. Prices reasonable. Weekend brunch is a favorite of the neighborhood -- loud -- but those who go regularly like it this way. Delivery -- we order from Elmo on Seamless occasionally, usually its very good sirloin burgers -- and the food comes hot and within 40 minutes.

Menu changed

By mermaid939 |

We've been having brunch at Elmo when we visit NYC. This visit was disappointing. The menu was very limited and the dishes we loved (Brioche French toast) was gone. I had the ricotta lemon pancakes with blueberries. The pancakes were heavy and tasteless. They had blueberries in the batter but were topped with less than 10 berries. Baked French toast with raisins was dry. Too many places to have brunch in NY that are so much better.

Really enjoyable place to eat

By Jill1207W |

Deciding to eat at Elmo's was a result of hunger pangs as we walked along 7th Ave, liked the selections on the menu posted on the door, and the inviting look of the dark wood interior. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent, served attractively, and the wait staff was helpful in providing recommendations. In spite of a decent number of people there, (noise levels could be a problem if all tables were filled), we were seated promptly and the service was relatively fast. Prices were moderate, especially by New York City standards. Definitely recommend.

Great food, great atmosphere

By PJWelch |

We had a wedding reception in the downstairs party room. We had our own bartender and wait staff, so the food and drink flowed smoothly. The food was delicious and the staff extremely helpful. I highly recommend Elmo.

Good food, friendly staff

By hdtraveler2016 |

I ate at Elmo on a recent trip to NYC. I had the lobster Mac n' cheese and a glass of wine at an outdoor table. The food was great, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the location was convenient in Chelsea on 7th Ave. Because 7th Ave. is very busy, some people may not like sitting at an outdoor table, but I enjoy the city environment and it was a great location for people watching.

Top place to eat

By Ian |

A really pleasant restaurant with great service and excellent food. Well worth a visit for a great evening

Great atmosphere

By MWSurrey |

High points: good buzz, good food, great decor Lows: slightly disinterested staff, drafts near the front doors

Lunch on a Tuesday

By Katie G |

I had a lovely lunch here with family. The food and service were good, and the prices were very reasonable for New York City. I had a southern chicken sandwich for $16 with fries. All of the people I was dining with were happy with their food. We were glad that we stumbled upon this restaurant while we waited for our appointment at nearby Kleinfeld's.

Modern with quality food

By Mark B |

Definitely buzzing on a Friday night, there was a good energy to the place. We had a reservation, and were seated very quickly, and service was attentive but not oppressive. Nothing special about the beers here, but both the wine and cocktail drinkers reported goodness. If you have at least 3 people and looking for a sharing plate, then I would recommend, the “Elmo bites”, which is a choice of 3 appetizers, which actually arrive as three separate plates in a stacked server — quite a bit of food there! My “pan roasted salmon” was cooked as ordered, and arrived piping hot.

Great Service & Food to Match

By NorthEndBos |

Started with drinks at the bar (yummy) and then dinner for 6 of us. The bar area was a bit cramped as it was a busy night but the bartenders were attentive to those of us standing behind the stools. Once seated at our table, our waiter was very friendly and helpful answering our questions. Some foods worth highlighting are the Chicken Paillard, Mac & Cheese, and Meatballs. The lighting and space facilitated a nice vibe for the evening. Would definitely go back. We made reservations through OpenTable.

Fun and vibrant

Catching up with old college friends was fun at this vibrant place. Friendly staff and great cocktails. Food was good and lots of options. Desserts scrumptious.

Hopping brunch spot

By Justin T |

Love Elmo for its consistency and upbeat atmosphere. Great brunch with great cocktails. Patio is nice & easy if you're with a dog.

Good food

By martynsnook |

Nice relaxed diner style atmosphere. Good outside area on 7th avenue. Varied selection of food from fried chicken and mash to burgers and the Cobb salad is large and fantastic. Don't miss the truffle fries. Good cocktails to.

Very tasty, great wait staff

By NJworldwidetraveler |

We had table on sidewalk on pleasant evening. Subway rumbles beneath street. Waiter was very helpful and pleasant. We had some very tasty light dishes.

PERFECT

By D0l0resu |

We went here accidentally while walking on 7th Ave. Surprise .......the food was awesome, the service great. I had the tomato soup and it was extremely delicious. We all fell in love with the mashed potatoes. We had the chicken, and the club sandwich. We also had fish. THIS PLACE HAS A LOT OF ATMOSPHERE / great place to eat, no rush.

Where is our server?

By BDM22_12 |

We went on a Sunday night and the restaurant was less than half full. Waited about 10 minutes before asking a lady if we had a server. When he showed up, all he said was "are you ready to order?" No welcome, my name is, etc. The food was good, not great, and my drink was too strong. I don't know where our server kept going but we had to wait again to get our check. I would not go back.

Left Disappointed

By McPherson9 |

Ate in her for lunch one day and left quite disappointed. We sate outside as we had our baby girl and would be easier for us to sit outside plus she likes having a look around at whats going on. We were put at a table right at the side which made things a bit awkward even though we were the only ones sitting outside. As we sat outside it was like we were forgotten about, only seen waiter to give us water, take our order and bring food to us. No other interaction, not topping up our water etc, not very welcoming experience. It was rather pricey considering what just got a couple of toastie's and chips. Would not recommend and i would not return.

Great salads and burgers

By nyctraveler230 |

Went for lunch. Nice spacious restaurant. Not very noisy but the restaurant was not full. There is sidewalk seating. The menu is varied offering many selections in salads, sandwiches and entrees. Pricing is very good. I had the Cobb salad that was a very nice large and tasty portion. My lunch companion had the burger that he thoroughly enjoyed. We both had a couple of soft drinks. The service was very good. Total bill without a tip came to less than $50.00. I will go back.

Good food and quality service

By Martin C |

We went here before going to Gotham comedy club for dinner. Food was very good and they had a wide variety of options on the menu. Brussel sprouts were excellent

Highly recommended

By Jeff J |

We ordered the classic Mac and cheese and a sampler plate consisting of onion rings, sweet and spicy wings, and a cheese quesadilla. The food was really tasty and wonderful. The vibe is really excellent. It was nice when we were there, the ambience is just fantastic. One of the best restaurants on the Seated platform.

Dissapointing

By GManners |

Nice to have such a trendy gay friendly restaurant, having said that, the food is not as refined as the prices pretend to be, but then the choice for this restaurant wasn't so much gastronomic. Staff was particularly friendly, which should forgive much, but the volume of the music doesn't allow any conversation at the table. It's like eating in a discotheque, we actually had sore throats from shouting at each other. The one unforgivable point is the state of the washrooms, why oh why oh why do gay bars and restaurants always supply the worst and unhygienic toilets. It's shameful.

Improper Charges a Month Later

By R G |

Check your credit card bills after you go there, or better yet cancel your card and get a new number to be safe. A month after going to Elmo, I find a random charge on my credit card from them. It's alarming that they will keep our cards numbers in their records and can use it whenever they deem fit. After a lot of back and forth with the manager and unmet promises to reverse the charge, I was getting nowhere. It was after I posted reviews of my experience and conveyed my frustrations that the manager stepped in to apologize for the trouble and ensured I was refunded my bill completely. I never got an explanation as to why this happened in the first place, and this might not be an isolated incident here. But that's on the restaurant as a whole, the manager himself was polite and eventually corrected the issue for me (after several emails).

Elmo in New york

Great for brunch on weekends, and dinner any night. Diverse menu with specials each evening. Great brunch at resonable prices, superb bloody mary's

mediocre. …. So many uninterested staff.

Restaurant not busy nice vibe. …. Staff spent more time talking to each other or in their mobile phones kind of felt left out! Not one member staff came asked did I want anything had to ask my table be cleared from a previous customers.

Its a great place for an "in between" occasion. Go for a drink or lite fare before or after your main event. Prices are good and it has a feel that the glory days have passed.

Comfort food in Chelsea

By Sam18Wil |

Stopped in for an early dinner with friends. Loved the fun decor - eclectic lights, colors, furniture. And the menu was perfect comfort food on a cold snowy Saturday. Yummy Mac and Cheese. Tomato soup with a mini grilled cheese as garnish. And fried chicken. Not to mention fabulous cocktails. And great service. Way to go Elmo!

The food was good; the service was terrible.

By Goudwing |

The food was great. We went for Saturday brunch and it was delicious. The restaurant is located in the middle of Chelsea; gym-bunnies a plenty sashaying up and down the restaurant. It's a great place for eye candy, but it's exhausting if you're just looking to have a chill lunch with friends. That aside, the real drawback was the wait staff. They're cute and all, but slow and not attentive at all. They spilled water on me... apologise and walked away. I had to ask three times for napkins to clean up their mess. The drinks took forever and we had to ask for everything (forks, ketchup etc.), there was no preemption or forethought to what we'd need. For those who are more interested in cruising or peeping hotties, it's great. For those of you who are looking for a good dining experience, there are better places.

NYC brunch

By Ron J |

Looking for a great place for brunch with friends in NYC. If you're in the area of Chelsea try ELMO's, you won't be disappointed. Young good looking crowd, great food, and accommodating staff. Try one of the bar specials instead of just the plain old "usual". I think you'll like it.

Too noisy and too bad food

By Steve M |

If you like to eat in a place where you have to shout across the table to be heard and you don't care about the quality of the food, then this place is for you. Otherwise avoid it. I guess it's hip and trendy and thinks that it can make up for mediocre food and service because of that. Not in my book. I will not return.

Fraud alert - credit card be aware

By Matt K |

Bought 2 bottles of champagne - on the menu is $100, but they charged $175 each. Super fraudulent. Never go here.

Cool Brunch

By italiansophistic |

So my husband and I tried to find a good brunch in NYC and as easy as it SOUNDS it was quit hard. Thank goodness we found this place. The staff was very nice and food was delicious. The atmosphere was cool and relaxed. We are already looking to go back this September,

Great meal, perfect location

By Don W |

Great restaurant in a perfect location. Amazing service--Victor is a Rock-Star waiter! The restaurant has an upscale feel with casual decor. The food is amazing, and portions are large. A great place for large groups.

Nice atmosphere

By Joseph M |

This is a nice restaurant for a semi-causal evening out. The service and food are very good. I would highly recommend the salmon with cauliflower rice. By the way their cappuccino is amazing also.

Best brunch for your value

By rebeccazent |

We tried to eat lunch across the street (cafeteria) but there was over an hour wait. We strolled the neighborhood and stumbled upon Elmo. The atmosphere is fun, contemporary and upbeat! I ordered the eggs neuvo and had a mimosa. While the mimosa was a bit watered down the eggs, smoked salmon Benedict with field greens and fresh cut potatoes were incredible! Flavorful and farm to table style. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, but then we were famished and catching up with an old friend. Their avocado toast is delicious and fresh!

Best Fun Brunch in the City

By stacigetzit |

Was in NYC for a friend's birthday weekend, and he takes food, atmosphere, and mostly importantly drinks seriously! When looking for our next brunch spot, I stumble across Elmo on Yelp. Great reviews, the atmosphere was fun, bright and lively. When reviewing the food list, there was a lot to choose from, a lot of healthy options and a long list of fun drinks. Elmo lived up to everything I saw on yelp. I highly recommend this restaurant. I couldn't choose between the avocado toast and the acai bowl...so I got both! And they were delicious!! Laura, our waitress was attentive and made the experience even more pleasant. Highly recommend this spot for brunch for anyone looking for a fun, delicious meal!

Great Brunch Place

By cooper s |

A nice place to eat about 15min walk from Penn Station. Delicious brunch options. I recommend sharing the Cinnamin Buns they were absolutely delectable. The inner atmosphere of the resturaunt is busy at times and they dont take reservations. However, the wait usually isnt that long. Servers were pleasant, courteous and had a great knowledge of the menu

Martini Mama

By Dreamluxury |

Listen Elmo's always been about a good martini for me. Food is fair. Servers are nice enough. Outside seating is great if you can get it.

Great food, great cocktails!

By Mzwandile M |

Enjoyed the food and cocktails here. The ambience was lovely, not too busy and noisy. The service was good. The food portions are large. Loved the spicy calamari and cosmopolitan cocktails. Will definitely be back next time I am in in NYC!

Very nice place to have lunch.

I had lunch here with a friend. Visiting from Las Vegas. The food was very good. Our server Logan was so helpful and treated us so well. I am very impressed with your restaurant.. Thank you.

It is Inconsistent

By Laurie1249 |

We brought seven family members for an early dinner. We were seated right away but The host said that we needed to be done in a 1 1/2 hours because the table was reserved for someone. He also stated that it should not be a problem because the food comes out very quickly. Our drink orders were served promptly. Unfortunately our meals took over 45 minutes to be served. At this point we were all getting impatient especially the children in our party. Most of the meals were fine except the hamburger meal, and the pork tacos. When the hamburger was served it was cold and very dry and lacking of taste. My grand daughter who loves hamburgers was very disappointed. The pork tacos had an ok flavor but a lot of the pork had lots of fat. Although the waiter was attentive we were extremely disappointed about the wait time and some of the food.

Decent Food, Too Much Attitude

By David C |

We ate here with a group of 7 people. We initially had a reservation for 4 at 7:30 pm, but when the group grew, we had to adjust the reservation. The hostess was quite put out and rude on the phone, but eventually said she could give us a table at 8:30 pm. We arrived at 8:30 and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Our server was pleasant and professional, however the assistant servers were extraordinarily brusque. The food was good - not overwhelming, but certainly nothing that would come up during the night! The menu struck me as relatively standard, comfort food type of fare. Prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was very annoying. It was extremely loud, and with the attitudes from the hostess and wait staff, I was left with a not-so-great impression of this place. My ultimate qualifier of a restaurant: would I return? For this place, I don't think I will. I just don't think it was worth it, even for a highly popular, gay-oriented place in Chelsea.

Yummy Food

By kuhhrysten |

We showed up 40 minutes early to our reservation and they were able to seat us early so that was very nice. Staff was very friendly but the service was slow and we waited forever to get refills on drinks and to get our check once we were done. The truffle fries were delicious and HUGE, they should be split between at least 3 people. Entrees were good.

A find!

By GSM1111 |

Fresh, modern, clean look. Large portions of tasty, well prepared food at as good a price as you'll find in Manhattan. Excellent fast service. Really this can't be beat. I had a chorizo, cheddar and avocado omelet that I customized from a list of possible ingredients. It was served with a large portion of oven brown, crispy well seasoned red bliss potatoes, a salad and toast. An omelet with two fillings and the sides as described sets you back $10. It's $2 for each add'l ingredient. I was quite hungry and still didn't polish off my plate. Elmo is definitely a find!

Disappointing Evening

By Jim H |

1. Food was adequate. Had impression that this was a restaurant, but to be more like a diner. No specials, not even a summer meal. All heavy foods. We wondered, in fact, if the meats and fish were fresh or frozen?! Unappetizing. 2. Noise level was unbearable. We must have hit Elmo during a happy hour or some large event. We felt like we were at a wedding almost having to scream at each other in conversation. Painful. 3. It made us pause that there were no ADA compliant bathrooms. The rest rooms are located down a flight of stairs in the basement. Disappointing. I/We trust that the proprietors of Elmo will work to resolve these concerns and take their establishment to the next level. In turn, we hope to revisit and have a more tasty meal in an enjoyable atmosphere. Thank you.

Fantastic

By Anthony C |

A great restaurant that offers fantastic food and Abercrombie-esque looking waiters. The restaurant is in a fantastic setting, very cool and modern yet comfortable. The food is great, we had a group booking of 8 and at no stage did the service falter. We had starters, mains and desserts and we were not 'rushed' to vacate the table. If you're in Chelsea and want to eat somewhere cool with an almost electric vibe, this is the place for you. My only one criticism is that it may just be TOO cool. This wouldn't suit families or a couple looking for a quiet meal.

great location, great food

the server was very friendly and kind and i ordered avocado toast and it was really delicious. the location was really nice to walk around. i sat outside table. it was pretty good.

Great fun

By a m |

We are here twice on a 6 night trip to NYC. You may think that's a waste but it was so good the first time that we went back for more. If you know "Balans" in soho, London, you'll feel right at home here. Certainly not fine dining but really good menu and the prices are fair. Busy, fun crowd and buff staff so it's great for the atmosphere as well as the food!

Fun!

By Markbelgie |

Elmo is a great place to start your evening! The food options are regular but well prepared! The atmosphere is uplifting! Always happy after a visit at Elmo!

great neighborhood gem

By Mary07020 |

I have been there for drinks...watermelon martini is all the rage....and for dinner and brunch and never been disappointed. The choice of dishes is good for those who are hungry and just want an appetizer. The brunch selections are good and are a generous portion. The have outdoor dining...and a bar area for appetizers. There can sometimes be a wait...so be patient.

Great food , fun place!!

By reddelta051 |

Went with friend from Mississippi and Georgia, for lunch, food was good, drinks were better, Service was great!! Will go again..and the music was fantastic

Surprisingly Good!

By macaleigh |

Our waiter was GREAT - very energetic. The vibe of the restaurant is fun - We went because we have picky eaters and the menu looked good for my kids. I highly recommend the calamari - HUGE portion and delicious. The restaurant is very reasonably priced for NYC. We would go back - The fish tacos come with THREE - Large portion! The fish is a very small portion but good and the lobster mac and cheese is not worth it - It looks like boxed macaroni with lobster thrown in. Everything else is fabulous - Really really good food and nice place to go for dinner!!

A must visit

By Justout914 |

The food and service here is excellent. Always have a good time here. The drinks are also really good and definitely worth the money.

Food was lovelly

By TC0766 |

For a Wednesday night it was extremely busy, but the Service and the food was good even for the largest party of +16

Always a good choice!

By Brian P |

I've been going to elmo since they first opened many years ago. They never fail to satisfy as they are a great 'go to' destination when in Chelsea. Located in a fairly gay popular area, it gets a great mixed crowd. Always a fun, party scene with very cute clientele. The food & drinks are always delicious & the staff super friendly & cute. They also have a fun lounge downstairs if/when it is open, but great for private parties if looking to book a FAB private party. I would highly recommend this place!

Excellent Brunch

By janicepk |

We arrived early for brunch so had our choice of tables, and great service. The food was excellent. We enjoyed ' the big breakfast', pancakes and an omelet, with, delicious bloody marys.

I loved the food

By Petra K |

Elmo was a pretty great experience. The food was excellent. We had southern chicken and crab cakes. It was just delicious. We also had white sangria, which was good. The staff was very friendly and the service overall was excellent. I went with a gay friend and he told me it was a restaurant of the gay scene. I am not sure if that is true, but it is very plausible. I would go back to Elmo's.

This place has gone down

By Nicholas R |

For many years Ive come to Elmo for good food and great service. While the service remains great the food has gotten disgusting. What I would have considered to be their signature dish the mac & cheese use to me amazing now its tasteless and dry. Before I even moved to NYC 8 years ago I would come just for that but someone decided to change it. Why?!?! All the other food is dry and season less.

Sunday evening dinner

By WDArthro |

Had dinner around 7 pm on a Sunday. No wait but plenty of other diners. Excellent food including the eggplant Napoleon and the truffle fries. Clean. Loud.

A fun place for a Sunday Brunch

By Irish_Harry |

While in NYC, we had brunch with two local friends who recommended Elmo on 7th Avenue. The restaurant has a nice, friendly ambiance and we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately (we had reservations). The brunch menu is traditional (Eggs Benedict, omelettes, etc). My husband and I both ordered breakfast burritos which were delicious. Prices are reasonable, service friendly and our food was very good. A good choice for a Sunday Brunch in Chelsea, NYC.

Best American Food

By Ahmad Suleiman |

The place was more like a bar than a restaurant because it was a bit dark. We were escorted to our seats. The menu was simple, but the appetizers were great. The place was clean. Service was prompt. Prices were moderate. Highly recommended.

Fun Food Fast

By Jon M |

Ok not too sure on the origins of the name but my burger was near perfection! Two others got the Ranchos Heurvous and although not the healthiest looking meal they liked it! Elmo's has the most comfortable chairs around. If it's not too hot sit outside on 7th Ave

I will definitely be back !

By Sigarna |

I came across this very nice place on a sunny day in May. We had the Crispy calamari and the Grilled chicken club sandwich and this was superb. The service was very attentive and I am determined to return sooner than later.

Excellent food, mediocre service

By sdgt625 |

Ate at Elmo on a recent Sunday evening. The food was much better than I expected. I had soup of the day, which I think was some butternut squash soup, that was very tasty and well prepared. I was even more pleasantly surprised by the main dish I had - the brazino fish dish. The fish was pan seared to perfection - crispy skin, with the meat of the fish cooked just right - and the fish tasted very fresh. All the ingredients that came with the dish were tasty as well. My friend sampled the crabcake, which he said was very tasty. The only disappointing element to my dining experience at Elmo was the service. While our server was adequate, he lacked enthusiasm and clearly wanted to be doing something else other than serving at Elmo that evening. I would definitely eat at Elmo again the next time I am in Chelsea, and in the mood for a casual but nice place for dinner.

Fabulous and delicious!

By Rob Ord |

Elmo in Chelsea it's a fun place to go with groups or on a date! The food and drinks are yummy! It's very well located, clean and gay friendly.

Lovely.

By Andy J |

Had lunch here one day and was soo filling I could not even finish it. Place it fresh clean and sexy.

Mediocre brunch

By S S |

Fine Turkey sausages. Good OJ. Rest of brunch was just meh. Phony maple syrup. French toast that was too dry. Mildly interesting blueberry pancakes. I'm in no rush to go here again.

Loud but good

By Sean C |

This place is loud! The acoustics of the building are not very good so all the customer conversations become a roar that rolls out the door giving this place a huge amount of energy. The menu has a bit of everything. The staff will help guide you if you can’t make up your mind. The food was really good and a great value for the city.

Great portions!

By Timothy B |

Nice portions of food, good value in Chelsea. I had the turkey burger and it was moist and delicious. Also shared the guacamole and was very good.

Fresh Food, Poor Service

By dctravel |

We decided on dinner at Elmo after reading reviews online. It is an interesting space (good art!), but while we found the food decent, the service was almost non-existent. In fact, our waiter ignored us for much of the evening, instead choosing to focus on other nearby tables. This included passing by us, with empty plates, without stopping to see if we needed or wanted anything else. For a starter, we ordered a watermelon and heirloom tomato salad. The watermelon was excellent, but besides the grape and cherry tomatoes, the larger wedges were tasteless and did not look like heirlooms (at least not the ugly kind). Inconsistencies existed in the main courses too. I had sea bass, which was generally well cooked and tasty. My wife had a steak sandwich, which came with a giant glob of fat hanging off, which needed to be removed with a sharp knife. It was disappointing. The drinks, however, were strong.

What a fabulous discovery this was!

By Gabriel |

The food was delicious, and well-tailored to our dietary restrictions, and the service was great. Fun atmosphere but still elegant enough to be upscale, and a very vibrant boy bar scene was starting to develop as we finished.

Consistent Menu and Service

By Ross T |

Open, casual, and affordable restaurant in one of NYC's most accessible and friendly neighborhoods. Attentive (and attractive) staff!

Fab brunch!

By David B |

Our server was Rob. He could not have been nicer even with the fluid number in our party. Eggs benedict and salmon BLT were delicious. Perfect mimosas. Coffee refills when needed. Loved the décor and the energy in the restaurant. Saw the lounge downstairs on a trip to the bathroom and want to check that out on my next visit to NY.

Omg you must go

By Don_aly |

We were told about this place by a local person and were totally given good advice. At first I wasn't inpressed by the tight tables but soon forgot all about that with the outstanding service, food and prices. By far our best meal in New York and we had a lot of good food there. Perhaps the best meal we have had in a restaurant

Great place, good service

By Vlad Z |

I loved Elmo. The food was delicious and the service was great. Loved the design too. The only thing was that vodka cranberry ended up being cranberry only, couldn't taste any alcohol, but it's fine, it's forgiven.

Loved This Gem!

By Sivan C |

Came to Elmo on a whim while in Chelsea and saw a sign that said “RESTAURANT.” My curiosity got the better of me and I decided to have a late lunch with a friend. What an amazing find! The indoor/outdoor seating is fabulous (we opted for indoor seating). The ambiance was buzzing with good energy, great music (que ABBA). The food was excellent. Highly recommend the truffle fries to share! The salad was delicious, staff attentive and cheerful. Cocktails are amazing!

Very good.

By KMP53 |

Was with my family and the food and service were great. We ate out doors and it was a lot of fun to watch people and traffic go by. Our waiter was delightful and so much fun to talk to.

Good Brunch, Good Atmosphere in Chelsea

By Giacomo Alberto D |

We come here with some friends to have a late brunch. The atmosphere is absolutely fresh and trendy and the food is tasteful and the portion are very big. Traditional and simple american meals. Staff very quick and kind.

Neighborhood Favorite

By East-mt |

This was my second visit to Elmo this year. They have really good food and excellent service. If you are in the neighborhood it's a good choice and dependably good!

Chelsea nice outdoor seating

By Barbara G |

Salads were a 4. Tomato soup a 3. The coconut pie was the piece de resistance. Wine was fine and reasonable. Service was good, but they “were out of” our first choice shrimp bun at 5 pm.

American Comfort Food -- CHEAP!

By Bob N |

Elmo in Chelsea has a great affordable lunch and dinner menu and I can't determine which I like best -- so I don't have to! Eat at Elmo for lunch or dinner! Both superb! This large energetic restaurant boasts great food, large portions, friendly wait staff, quick service, a great downtown crowd and cheap prices. Great value for the money and well worth a trip from anywhere in the city -- located just a block from the 18th Street station on the #1 train.

Fantastic place for Brunch!

By Deepwater_diver |

We walked to Chelsea area from Times Square and came across Elmo when trying to find a nice place for brunch. Chelsea area was full of places to sit and eat and Elmo was a fantastic choice. We had several Mimosas which were great and the Lobster Mac & Cheese was also very good. We had Eggs Nova and 3 Eggs any style which were great. The decor is nice as well - overall very recommended.

Exceptionally good experience while being very hip and trendy

By Mitch R |

Sometimes you have to trade off really great food and service for a hip and trendy scene. Elmo does both at the same time. It has lots of trendy folks and fashionable wait staff while putting out very good food. The seating is a little bit tight so hold out for a table over a banquette. A welcome addition is an area to hang coats (there wasn't always one there on past visits). Lunch time is great.

Quality of Food Only Surpassed by Service!

By Mike R |

My wife and I brought our family here. We wanted quality food, good service and high energy at reasonable price and Elmo delivered big time!! Can't say enough for our waiter, cook, and even the management who visited. We will be back!!

Consistently good over the years

By BizLuxTrvlr |

This long time Chelsea restaurant is always a great place for brunch. The retro decor and cute waiters coupled with good "comfort food" menu make it a reliable neighborhood fixture, especially for brunch.

Yummy fresh breakfast

Had the big breakfast and substituted the potatoes for mushrooms and it was fantastic! Everything was fresh and yummy! Will come back again!

Great brunch venue

By Kjonasher |

Went here for brunch with friends. Good food, nice venue, cute but inattentive waiters. We were very early and arrived just as they opened, so was nice and quiet.

Great atmosphere

I went on saturday night. Local was full but i found a place. Tables are too close each other (somepeople like in that way) but ambience, quality of food and service was great. To be repeated

Great food and service - well worth a visit!

By Christine S |

We were looking for a dinner place before a concert at Madison Square Garden, and Elmo's did not disappoint! We had a 6 pm reservation (the show was at 8) and service was quick but did not make us feel rushed.; it's about a 1/2 hour walk from MSG. (We don't walk super-fast.) Dinners - fried chicken with gravy, a burger, a steak salad, and penne vodka with shrimp - were good, and the calamari appetizer was delicious. The person ordering the penne declared the sauce to be among the best he's had. Meats were cooked as specified (medium rare for the steak salad and well done for the burger). The cocktail menu was varied enough to have something for everyone. If you like a dirty martini with blue-cheese stuffed olives, theirs was delicious! We opted not to have dessert, but I'm sure it would have been as good as everything else. And the best part - the price was not more - maybe even less - than we would have paid, had we stayed home in our NJ suburbs!

Great breakfast

By markmik |

Walking around and found this place empty and full of staff. Trendy decor and music. Breakfast is large in size and taste. Try big breakfast - 3 eggs!
