Tables are a little tight but the food was very good and the service as well. Prices were quite reasonable given the location,

We went there because we had walked by the night before and they had live music and we thought it might be good. Loved Felix slim who was playing tonight. The food was good and the service excellent. Would definitely try it again

It is a very nice and pleasant restaurant. We were here twice during our stay in NYC because it is so good. Friendly staff, very good food and a large selection of wine. A bit pricely but it worth it, definitly. I recommend this restaurant. We have also very appreciated the live Jazz band on a sunday night. If you can, ask à place at the bar!

this place is more about ambiance than about food. the restaurant is small and has a lot of character, there was a nice band playing live some blues, but the food was nothing impressive. the prices were alright. So, overall, a nice spot for a night out or a date.

Cosy place with good food. We had the lunch special (spaghetti pesto) and it was made from scratch, very tasty. The waitress was polite and helpfull. It feels more like a place to eat lunch at or having drinks in than a place to have dinner.

I came here midweek for lunch with a friend and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and fresh, the service was great (we sat at the bar) and the space was cool and laid back. Having not eaten here before, I wasn't sure what to try so I ended up going with one of their sandwiches - smoked salmon with brie and rocket. My friend had the kale salad and topped it with grilled chicken. We split a bottle of wine (and then some) and their wine list, though small, was well balanced and very approachable from a price standpoint. We ended up staying for not quite two hours and were never rushed or neglected from a service standpoint. We had hoped to sit outside but sadly it rained so we were forced inside, though if I go back the little 2 tops outside are cute. Definitely a nice neighborhood spot with a lot of tasty offerings! If I'm in the neighborhood, I'll definitely go back.

Small and cozy restaurant in Nolita, close to Chinatown, Little Italy and Soho. Very good food, we had the Burrata and the Rocotta Croquettes. The host was very efficient and friendly and the waiter wonderful. We tasted an excellent California wine from their list. Good for a cozy dinner in a lively and very Manhattan-like environment.

I've been here many times and I'm continually drawn back again and again. The food is inexpensive but delicious. Named after a jazz tune by Thelonious Monk, Epistrophy feels like a scene straight out of Italy but hip and trendy, definitely without the trappings of some grotto-style wannabees. Here you'll find a laid back atmosphere with a Euro style groove. The staff is always friendly, helpful and attentive without affecting an overly solicitous demeanor. The decor is simple, bordering on the funky, something I like. The bar offers a fine selection of good but inexpensively priced wines, and it's not a bad place to sit and dine as well. Outdoor seating on Mott Street only makes the allure of this establishment all the more compelling in warm weather.

A local friend brought me to this small and intimate restaurant for dinner on a Sunday. The pasta is fantastic - cooked just right, and unusual dishes. Well worth trying. A jazz band played from 8pm, which added to the vibe, and the sound level was pitched just right so we could comfortably continue to chat over our meal. Staff were friendly and service good. Mid priced - a pasta dish each and bottle of wine came in at c.$40 a head.

The italian menu looks appealing, the food is really good, despite the pasta dishes were quite small. Prices are low. I loved the place, with its tiny terrace and the gorgeous decoration. However, the waiter made me uncofortable during the all lunch.

We were actually headed to the bakery next door that we had heard good things about but ended up here when it was closed. It was full on a Sunday at 3 in the afternoon so we took this as a good sign and turned out we were right. Sandwiches were perfect and reasonably priced, service was great, and jazz music wafted thru the funky and well appointed space. The basel and pinenut gelato was both inventiveand delicious. I'd have no problem going back and discovering more of their menu.

We turned up late for our reservation with three jet logged kids, one of whom had already quit for the day. Lovely welcome, super table in this fab intimate restaurant. Very cool vibe - lots of young couples (what they thought of us turning up I don’t know!) Menu was lovely simple family friendly Italian food, the fresh pesto was to die for, and the calamari and veg fritters fresh and lively. And very reasonable on the wallet. Go eat here!

Had a really Nice breakfast here - both the avocado toast and the pancakes makes you want to come back!

Suggested by a friend after our original brunch option was closed up for good. However, turned out to be a great choice with a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival that continued until we had finished. Was equally pleased with the food and the dessert tasted better when on the house! Nice ambience, great service, and delicious food. A+

Very nice place for a dinner, brunch even for a quick negroni. Staff was kind and always helpful. Give it a try

Went to this restaurant with a large group of friends. Arrived and discovered the place isn't really equipped to deal with large groups, and when a few of them were late, our table was promptly given away. I couldn't be too upset about this since people were late and the restaurant was busy so they needed to seat other people. We were given the option of waiting 45 minutes for another table. I was ready to leave and find somewhere else to eat as nothing on the menu really excited me, but everyone else wanted to stay so we did. We were piled into a table and sat down for dinner. The atmosphere is loud and trendy, and the restauarant was very busy. We ordered and the food arrived promptly. It was good but nothing spectacular. I enjoyed the company at the table more. Overall, a little trendy for my taste and the food was average. Don't know that I would go out of my way to go back.

This restaurant was recommended to us by some friends. The location is good in a quite street just a few minutes from Soho Prince Street. Its also close to Little Italy, if not in it! Its a very charming place with some nice big tables (and smaller ones). And the best part, the food! The lasagne was the best I have ever had, you just have to try it. My boyfriend had the chicken panini which also was great. I tried them both and couldnt decide which I wanted. I recommend this place to everyone!

We had been out shopping all morning and ready for a snack . We just happened to pass this cafe it was a welcome stop . 2 glasses of really nice red wine and a burger on 7 grain bun with salad and fried potatoes Very Good . It is a little left of centre has a great feel . Yes we will go back !

We have been coming to New York City for about 6 years. When we discovered this place 3 years ago we make sure we eat there at least once when we are in town. We have recommended it to friends. We love there Snap pea salad and their Hanger steak and their short ribs

We had an amazing dinner here while in NYC! The pasta was delicious and the dessert was even better.

A nice place with good food and drinks. We felt a bit older for the place. Most of the eaters were in their thirty's

Our son wanted to try this place and we stopped after a long day in NYC on a Saturday evening. We did not have a reservation but was able to be seated after only a few minutes. We tried the Tommy & Margarita and Giorgia GT Brasil for cocktails and enjoyed both with our appetizers, bowl of olives and Calamari. We each tried something different and shared, Papperdelle, Brasato al Cannonau, and Hanger steak. All three dishes were excellent and very tasty. The highlight of the evening was the after dinner cocktails. We ordered a Grappa coffee and Georgia came over and gave us samples of Mirto. She was very informative and gave us alot of information about Grappa and Mirto. We then tried Cynar to end the evening. She helped top off a stellar meal and is a huge asset for them.

Very cozy atmosphere... Good background music... Yes, a little loud but you're in a small, cozy restaurant in Nolita - what do you expect! We had the tuna tartare appetizer, pumpkin tortelli and hanger steak entrees... Reasonable prices. Two thumbs up!!

First, free bread with oil and aceto, very good bread (I do rate some restaurants by the bread and this completely aced the bread test). The burrata was exquisite. The kale salad amazingly fresh. The chicken was also quite good. The food took a long time to arrive (the burrata right away but the salad and kale came a looot later). It's also cash only. The wine I think pinot grigio was also great.

I have to be very honest: we tried this restaurant only because we had a discount coupon and we did not expect anything special. How wrong we were, we loved everything we had and the service was quite friendly. We read somewhere that the cuisine is inspired by the island of Sardinia ( that's where the owner comes from ) but the menu has only a few Sardinian " touches ". We will definetly come back and hopefully we will find more Sardinian food options on the menu.

Very cool restaurant with lovely wines and excellent service. Staff were attentive and the whole place is comfortable. Highly recommended and obviously popular with locals.

The look of this place made us go in, the menu convinced us to stay. The food is good, but the music is so loud you need to scream to one another to be able to be heard, too loud not to be annoying.

Small place but very nice, perfect for an aperitif, the environment is not fancy but very well attended, great food and a wide selection of wines, try the labels are well selected. Jazz on Sunday.

Eat at epistrophy a few times while in the area. Great food, original cozy interior and friendly staff!

Food and service are great. It's a clique-y crowd, but not intollerable. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. Weird, given the high prices. I can only imagine how much of a bummer it is for the staff to deal with each customer's surprise and subsequent scramble to see if they have the cash..

Great service. Fine food. Good wine. Awesome vibe. This is legit the best pesto dish I have ever had. I highly recommend the artichoke ravioli with pesto!! The appetizer meatballs were also tasty, while the wine selection by the glass was small, mine was great. I also loved the vibe of this pace. Cool decor and not your typical Little Italy Italian food.

The food at Epistrophy is excellent. The pasta is amazing, the burrata is also really good. However, the service was not good at all. The waiter clearly didn't care about us and was rushing everything he was doing. That was a shame because the place and the food are excellent. I still recommend the place strongly

Have lived in the neighborhood for years, have walked by this often packed resto for years, and finally stopped in for dinner. The two of us had the lovely tuna tartare app and the croquettes (which came with a delicious tomato tapenade). We were quadruple teamed the whole time with service from the staff. We also ordered one main course entre, which unfortunately was not quite to our liking so we barely ate it. It happens. Was not a major deal. The waitress asked us about the uneaten food when clearing the plates. Then the owner/manager? also came over and also asked us about it. We told him why we didn't eat it and he took it off our bill. I have rarely had service that attentive or aware of their customer's experience in a long time. And (most of) the food was really delicious. I will definitely be going back. It's been around for a few years, is often crowded and now I know why.

This is a great italian restaurant in Noho. There is live music, cozy and not too loud. The atmosphere is fantastic. I loved it!

A friend and I had lunch here on a sunny Summer Sunday afternoon. They have a handful of small tables outside on the street which is great for people watching. Inside was nice and cool with a welcoming decor. Carlo and another woman (can't remember her name) worked together to serve the tables. Both were extremely kind and welcoming. I had lived/worked/studied in Italia, so I was happy to learn that Carlo was from Sardinia; we spoke Italian with one another. I had the orecchiette with pancetta. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente (I'm not sure if the pasta was home-made, but it tasted as though it was), and a moderate amount of the flavorful, light cream sauce with chunks of pancetta were mixed throughout the pasta. It was the perfect-size lunch portion: not too much, not too little. My friend had the pappardelle with braised short rib red sauce. It was excellent. They also served wonderful focaccia with olive oil & balsamic. They had a nice wine list too: I had a nicely chilled rosé. Side-note: I had unknowingly left my iPhone in an Uber, and realized it once we sat down at the restaurant. They felt compassion for me, and encouraged me to use their WiFi so I could use the "Find My iPhone" app on my laptop to track down my phone. 20 minutes later I found it. They were so gracious and friendly, it made me want to eat there every time I visit New York. Good food goes a long way, but good atmosphere and good people take it to another level. Highly recommend.

While the food is very good, the cleanliness of this place is disgusting. Bartender making cocktails and touching olives/lemons etc with bare hands before tossing them in the drink...those same hands that handle money, menus etc. The cooks also handle all food without using gloves, resting the food on the countertop where uncooked food/wrappings etc are layed. I have come here often and never saw this as I sat at the tables. This time we sat at the bar and had a view on the cooking action

Located in a neighborhood with many bars and specialty shops. Cozy area. We were there for an early lunch, shortly afterwards the place was packed. Don't always have everything on the menu but there are enough options to wet your appetite. Extensive wine list and good bar.

Great concept, friendly staff and delicious food. Awesome place to eat Italian food with friends and a glass of wine. Affordable bill

Recommanded by a friend, we ended up (5 people) to go to Epistrophy. Decor is trendy and atmosphere is relax. We were lucky to get a table just before rush hour because it turned out that the restaurant is quite popular and it got crowded quickly. We all took diiferent type of pastas. It was good and portion was decent. Desserts were really good and portion of cheese cake were big, enough to share for 2. Waiter was helpful, friendly and efficient. It was a good and cosy time. If you want to taste good Italian food in a relaxed atmosphere, go and enjoy Epistrophy in Little Italy.

I liked the decor of this restaurant, it is funky but comfortable. The paninis were outstanding and the cost of lunch was very reasonable. It was a pleasurable experience to eat here.

Yeah! I liked the Burrata with cherry tomatoes and Sardinian bread. It was probably the best Burrata I had in New York this time around. Our main course, Ravioli ai Carciofi (artichokes ravioli), was exquisite and really different. I also liked the decor, being trendy and cosy, crating a romantic feel. A negative point on the service though. Our waiter couldn't be more slack and disinterested if he tried!! Reasonable prices.

This place was a right turn into the unknown for us, and it paid off like a good movie! We've been very tired of NYC Sardinian (don't even mention Italian), we have 46 years of Sardinia in us (hence Mirtone). Usually NYC Sardinian is dumbed-down to overpriced gnocchi or cheese and smoked meat boards with mediocre service. This kitchen presents a small but complete menu of adapted dishes that reach into grandma's world without being limited by the traditional, all the while not straying into trendy fusion nothingness. Nice use of quality ingredients and solid preparation and presentation. Bravi! The decor is cozy bistro if a bit loud, although there are a few tables street side. The small space incorporates an open kitchen which is not intrusive, and a small bar to cozy up to if needed. Although casual, service was efficient, speedy and friendly, a pleasant surprise for NYC and especially that part of the city. A compliments of the house tiramisu was solid, and the gesture echoed the immaculate Sardinian hospitality. The bill was fair for the quality and service, although the wines are a bit on the pricey side. Overall, go, order the red wine of Sardinia (Canonau) and appreciate a brave and successful take on one of the most ancient cuisines of the Mediterranean. Grazie comp'a!

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon - this place seemed perfect. Tucked away on a side street in Nolita, has a cozy/trendy decor and nice menu (paninis, salads, etc). Unfortunately, abysmal service ruined our meal. The waiters/waitresses were unattentive and disinterested. My attempt to order a drink was ignored, water was not refilled when empty. Food came out in the wrong order - my girlfriend's entree came out first, instead of the cheese plate we had ordered as an appetizer. At least 30 minutes later my sandwich and the cheese plate came out. Overall it took over an hour just to get a panini, cheese plate and salad. Food was actually pretty good, but the poor service left a bad taste in my mouth. Not impressed at all.

Strolling little Italy in Manhattan you can't avoid stop here....is a small fashionable and stylish restaurant and cocktayl bar owned by an Italian young couple. The menu is authentic and genuine example of italian cuisine...exellent the "orecchiette with radicchio" dressed with white wine. The barman as well as owners are really friendly and available for any needs you may have. Even nicer are the tables outside if like the people watching. I suggest to having lunch in the bar so is possible socialize with strangers and barman. We were 2 pers. and we payed 20 dollars heach for starter, main dish and glass of wine. very convinient! Super positive, suggested!!!

We found epistrophy by accident and had lunch. The food was very good. The place was pretty full and cosy. When we left we were just feeling happiness! That was a good lunch...

We have been here weeks ago for dinner with friends. Nice restaurant and very nice ambient. Ideal for a dinner and then go out down the streets of Nolita. The food was good, kind of "italian" (I would say they try to... but I'm Italian), in general the spaghetti were tasty and bruschetta and polpette (meatballs) also very nice. The wine, always Italian, was very very nice. The girl (I don't remember the name) serving at the table was very nice and helpful and the service good. I would go back to this place with pleasure.

We were walking around Little Italy looking for a nice little restaurant that wasn't crowded and looked like they served REAL italian food. We nailed it! This little and super cozy café was perfect, attention was the best and food incredible. I loved the fact that dishes were all different, and the little basket of bred to eat with some olive oil. My gnocchetis where delicious, so was the salad and the lasagna.

We enjoyed the ambiance in this smallish but busy restaurant. Good food and service but it was the indoor/outdoor feeling and busy bar that made the atmosphere so fun.

Epistrophy is an adorable restaurant situated in the heart of NoLita, which is one of the best neighborhoods in Manhattan. I definitely recommend booking through Seated! The ambiance is casual but cool, and the restaurant itself is extremely quaint. The happy hour was great and they have an extensive drink selection. My boyfriend and I shared the calamari as an appetizer, which was delicious. He ordered the Cacio e Pepe and I ordered the hanger steak, they were both too good for words. Def coming back!

Came here for some drinks before dinner - they don't know how to prepare the old fashioned. And the Italian waiter could be nicer... Cool ambiance though.

The food was delicious - beautiful, not fussy. The vibe was fun and just cool enough without being snotty. The wine was paired perfectly - take their recommendations - the staff know! Overall this was a perfect evening.

This is an absolute gem of a restaurant! All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. It is a cozy vibe inside and the food was delicious and fresh (we tried so much on the menu). I would definitely recommend.

I stopped in here with a friend after a LONG day of shopping through SoHo for some drinks! It was a cute little place, off the beaten path. It was a sunny warm day and so we sat by the open windows, which was a great spot! Drinks were good and worth the value! I'd definitely go back if I was in the area!

I came here on the Sunday night for the $10 pasta with a friend and it was delicious. We shared the calamari to start which came with mushrooms and it was a nice change compared to the usual fried calamari. I then had the pasta with sausage for my main which was also great.

We arrived late in NYC due to La Guardia weather issues and had to find somewhere near our hotel open late. Luckily they stay open to midnight. Italian all the way. Cozy space and good service. We split bruschetta and both had pastas. Good and large portions. Damages with tip was $100.

We found it by luck and it was an amazing experience! Great service, amazing and tasty plates with raw flavour and taste ! Highly recommended!!

We can across this little Gem as were strolling around little Italy! It's absolutely amazing.....the best pasta I have ever eaten and beautiful cocktails! The cafe is really rustic and cosy...... If your taking a trip to New York it's a must to stop here!

I found this place online by the reviews so we thought we would go get a drink or two there. The happy hour sign said beer, wine and cocktail but the waiter said there were no cocktail specials. We each ordered a different craft drink and both ended up tasting like a glass of lime juice. It was the worst drink I’ve had and same for my husband. I don’t think this is the type of place you just stop into for drinks, maybe the food is better

This little place was hopping when we had a quick dinner here last week. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and fun people watching. My vegetarian ravioli was a little dry but my husband loved his beef ragu. Worth trying even just to soak up the atmosphere of a buzzing NYC cafe.

I can not say that I ate badly .. this no .. but the friendliness is certainly not at home .. cold staff and friendliness not even the shadow .. unpleasant insistence by a waitress at the end of lunch for a tip not made .. because definitely not deserved .. learn to smile for customers at least for those polite and kind.

Unpleasant feeling about this restaurant! Food was all right however service was unfriendly and pushy. Therefore we’ve signed off limited tip on our bill. However the restaurant has charged 20% tip instead of what we have signed off on. 20% would be the standard tip for parties above 6 which we were definitily not either. Unbelievable and feeling unsafe as they’ve decided to charge a complete different amount. Never experienced this before.

We was originally planning to go to a pizza place around the corner but there was a long wait, so glad there was. This was such a great find. Homemade authentic food, a fantastic atmosphere with great staff Would highly recommend.

The food is really good and although the staff is very friendly they were not trained at all. The place was packed, super loud (uncomfortably loud) and terribly hot inside. There’s a heater on top of us that the waitress refused to turned off. 😒. I would give it another try because I liked what I ate but hopefully someone will organize this place. Ps: they were out of iced teas (after we ordered our first round).

I really enjoyed being there during the day working with my laptop. Although it gets packed here during the evening, it is quite calm during the earlier hours of the day. The big windows let loads of daylight in without any direct sunlight (which makes it cozy but still allows you to work with your laptop). Will go there again!!

The service is friendly, responsive, genuine and proper. I needed to say this, because several reviews criticized this aspect, which made me apprehensive at first. I saw no snobbery at all, the guys were just fine and down to earth. The food is reasonably priced at around 11-15 dollars per entree. The food is tasty, and attractive. Must say it is not amazing, for example, some of the pasta dishes were not al dente, but dishes like the salmon carpaccio with thinly sliced apples and cheese, or the gnocchi, or the steak, were quite good. The atmosphere is bubbly, boisterous, the place was packed, and a bit loud. If you are looking for an intimate quiet setting, this is not it. It reminded me a bit of a collegiate atmosphere. All in all, if looking for a Cosy lively spot with pretty good food, good fast service at reasonable prices, this fits the bill.

Fantastic food, great service! Burger cooked to perfection!! Chocolate mousse out of this world! Tirep

Nice Italian restaurant. Laid back atmosphere. Great food. Good staff. Reasonably priced. Great location. Very nice terrace. Why the B for cleaning?? Get it fixed!

It's a pretty small restaurant, but didn't seem that crowded on a rainy weeknight. Ordered an app and some pasta, everything was fine, nothing overly fancy. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall a good meal.

Great decor, great place to work, lovely service. I found this after googling a place in the East Village where one could sit and write. And Epistrophe is just the ticket. My extra-dry cappuccino wasn't great and neither was my squash soup but I'd still go back and try other things on the menu not least for the pleasure of sitting in delightful rustic-charmed surrounds and enjoying a leisurely coffee or meal. Great vibe and very pleasant, smiling waitress.

The interior looks a bit odd but the food is good and the atmosphere is very reaxed.

I went to dinner at Epistrophy with some friends, and we tried a variety of the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The meatball appetizer was phenomenal while the burrata was okay. By far our favorite entree was the short ribs, and we enjoyed the watermelon salad. While the artichoke ravioli and pork cutlet were decent, I wouldn't order them again. The wine and desserts were fantastic though (we had the chocolate mousse - which was darker and thicker than a usual mousse, very tasty, the tiramisu and the gelato). I'd definitely come back for happy hours, snacks or dinner again, but not my favorite meal in the neighborhood.

We had a large group of 8 and this small restaurant accomodated our reservation kindly. The service was attentive and warm and the atmosphere was comfortable. I had the baked eggplant entree which was the winner of the table in my opinion. My boyfriend had the pork which was a bit on the dry and bland side. Overall great experience!

Gorgeous little place with some live music. Great drinks at really affordable prices. Plus a couple of the staff are really lovely. Just don't go there too late cos they empty heir rubbish on the street out front and it stinks!!!

In all honesty, I loved it here. The avocado toast, would you believe it, had watermelon shavings on top. I was sold as soon as I saw it in front of me. A friend and I visited here and were happy to be taken to our table straight away, no wait. She ordered banana pancakes, I ordered avocado toast and of course a mimosa. (Brunch Sundays) We decided to split our meals in half and have a bit of each, which is great because I can review both dishes. I loved the avo toast because it was so fresh, beautifully presented and just pretty healthy really! The pancakes were absolutely delicious and of the same calibre as avo toast. In all honesty, I couldn't help staring at everyone else's plates after I'd eaten mine, thinking how great it would be to try all the other items on the menu. Definitely come here if you're looking for a quirky, creative kind of brunch with good food, good mimosas and a catch up with friends. A really nice place and well worth the walk in the rain I made. (Wearing sandals - don't ask!)

The restaurant itself is nice and looks like a café littéraire. The place is romantic and once they've low the lights it's even more cosy like home. The menu got a large selection of good italian wines and a short selection of fresh meals. (The kitchen is opened on the restaurant room so you could basically see the chef cooking your meal) By the way, pastas are baked like they really do in Italy. I've just been a little disappointed by the Tiramisu, it was fresh an good, but not strong in coffee enough.

Was walking around Soho, and near Mott street. Remembered a friend recommended, if we ever around Nolita area, stop by this cafe to sample their food. Shared bruschetta to start with and i had Chicken Pesto pasta and wife had the lamb sandwich. Good service and food was great , definitely will recommend this place.

The atmosphere in Epistrophy is great. Shabby chic décor makes it informal and comfortable. Not an expert on Italian food but I thought it was beautifully cooked and tasted good. Go when they have a band on - great fun to eat and drink well, listening to good music. The staff are friendly and efficient. Their knowledge of the menu and the wine list is spot on.

The food here was excellent - great fresh bingredients, not too fussy, not massive portions, just simple Italian style. The atmosphere is relaxed and funky - great coffee, great wine. A brilliant out stop on a hectic day.

Stopped here just for a cup of coffee, which was very good. The place is very charming and has a homey feel about it. Would certainly come back here for breakfast, lunch or an evening with live music.

We found this place spontaneously walking around the neighborhood on vacation. My wife and girls absolutely loved it - the food, the decor, menu on mini-clipboards, and bill wrapped with a ribbon served on a small plate. It was six months ago and they are still talking about it. It is a great place to go for italian food and their pesto pasta dish was very tasteful. I would definitely go back if I happened to be in the area, it is a cute little place.

Went with some out-of-town friends who were looking for the Little Italy experience; we declined to do the Mulberry street thing & instead gave epistrophy a try. Good decision! Beautiful night, we were seated at a window table with loads of fresh air and people-watching. Very attentive service, regular replacement of our (empty) water carafe. Shared a couple of apps - meatballs and a ricotta-stuffed croquette special. Both yum. Everyone was happy with their entrees - reasonably priced and portioned, a nice change not to walk out of an Italian restaurant feeling like you swallowed lead. All in all, a great night - we'll be back. Remember to bring cash, no credit cards!

My husband and I visited after seeing it during the day close to our hotel. The staff were great and it had an easy going feel to it even though it was jam packed! The food is essentially Italian and very good. My burrata and tomato starter was delicious, and the chicken roulade stuffed with mozzarella and Brussels sprouts was excellent. Really couldn't fault it.

We were a group of ten. Very accommodating setting up a long table for us, service was friendly and efficient, food was good, and prices not unreasonable. But it was barely possible to carry on conversations without shouting in the small space, a real downside for a group.

This little cafe was on my to do list. Imagine my delight when I realized as we were shopping in Nolita that it was right around the corner. We stopped for a little break in the early afternoon. The decor is comfy and cute. The front window were thrown open and it seemed so welcoming....until we sat down. We were given water immediately and then we sat...and waited...and waited. The table next to us came in and they had drink orders and still we waited. So, I waved to get the waitresses attention. Bad move. She scowled and gruffly said something and still we waited. When she came to the table we got a moment of silence and I got the stare down. Silly us. We just wanted to get a couple of glasses of wine, a beer and a soda. It was as if a black cloud rolled over the restaurant. I don't know why the person behind the bar didn't stop fiddling with stuff and do something to help. But perhaps, she too, gets the evil eye. I crossed Epistrophy off my list. The magic of NYC is that there many places where repeat business is treasured and that is a lesson Epistrphy could learn.

Went here for an anniversary dinner, well for any romance you should't go here :) Food was wonderful; looked pretty and tasted really good, so no comments on that, but we couldn't even hear what the other was saying since it was so very loud.

I happened across Epistrophy by accident while exploring the village. It was the first warm, dry day in several weeks, so I chose to have my wine and appetizer at one of the side walk tables next to a local who obviously knew the staff. The rest of the forming crowd was congregating inside. A note to those who have not tried to eat a meal and enjoy a glass of wine on a small, traffic stuffed street in Greenwich Village: you will not only have exhaust fumes as an unrequested condiment, but also become an object of curiosity for everyone sitting in the back of a taxi cab. I went inside to finish the meal and found an original coffee shop setting with a crowd of singular people who seemed to have either a lap top or iPad hard in their hands. Couches, tables and a small bar were available and made the setting a little too intimate given the size of the crowd and their equipment. I soon felt like I was listening in on a private conversation between a person and an electronic device. The chances of engaging in conversation with the person next to you were impossible, unless they lost their reception. I would recommend Epistophy to anyone strolling the village looking for small plates or a drink. For the lone, technically-free visitor looking for a light meal, keep walking to Bleecker Street.

This restaurant wasn't far one of our favorites during our weekend. Authentic Italian restaurant. Phenomenal service and food. We would have spent the entire afternoon there if we didn't have previously arranged plans. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience there.

I'm torn on giving such a positive review - I want to make sure they stay in business and get glowing reviews they deserve, but also don't want them to get so popular you can't get a seat! Burrata - OMG. Orchiette with raddichio and pancetta - deslish! There is something on the menu for everyone. I wish them the great success they deserve and seem to be having.

Meeting a colleague for dinner and a drink, she picked this as something of a local hero, and it was great. A good selection of meals with entrees at around $10, mains at around $15-20 and plenty or, salads, accompaniments and deserts to choose from. A range of imaginative food options that cater for vegetarians and non-venegatrians alike. Service was efficient and friendly, the atmosphere quaint and to too noisy (although it was early and mid-week). Also of note, they offer some really interesting cocktails and a good selection of local and imported beers, wines and other drinks also at reasonable prices. For two of us with mains, salads and a couple of drinks each we spent $120 including a tip. A most enjoyable experience and I'd happily go back.

Quirky venue, efficient staff, wholesome & hearty food! Apparently I need another 45 characters, when that sole sentence says it all...

Wandered in this past Friday night at 9:30, and had a wonderful meal! There are so many cute little similar restaurants in this area of Soho, but we loved our experience at Epistrophany! We were sitting right next to the integrated kitchen, which ended up being a lot of fun as we could see all the dishes being prepared. We ordered the burrata and tomato jam bruschetta for a started, which was beautifully presented and very interesting. The tomato jam was really a jam, which ended up tasting very marmalade-y with many notes of orange in it. We also got two salads, one arugula with a balsamic dressing and one mixed greens with citrus dressing. Both had lots of little things mixed in for interesting textures and flavors. We also got orchiette pasta with pesto, because they were all out of the artichoke ravioli. We loved everything, especially the salads! and it was all really fresh and refined and came quickly. Overall, would return in a heartbeat for a quick meal. Less of a place to linger it seems, but super nice for a light dinner with friends.

I just pressed in Little Italy area in Manhattan ,I saw this local beautiful .I got very good Italian dish & high quality of caffe. The guys very kind & nice.I had really good time there and be relax.

Found almost by accident and so glad we did - it was superb! The food choice was lovely, atmosphere fabulous, and the staff were exceptional, friendly in a genuine way. Struck up a conversation with the bartender / waiter, and even had G&T's "on the house" Loved it so much went back the next night, and when I was back in NY a month later headed straight for Epistrophy, however everyone else had the same idea (it was a warm Saturday evening) - it was packed, so that kind of says it all.

I loved everything about this restaurant. The vibe, the servers, the food and the drink. It’s definitely more for the younger crowd but we were in NYC with a 23 year old so wanted to take them to the lower east side. Servers loved our Scottish accents. The food was the best we had in NY. Italian with a twist. Each course delicious. And portions were spot on (none of those heaped plates you get elsewhere but can’t ever finish!). Also get a seat by the window or outside for some people watching. Definitely recommend!

Happy employees. A very very very nice pasta for 11-13 dollars. The atmosphere was really good!

Fab authentic Italian food with a really lovely atmosphere. The staff were great and the wine was even better. Highly recommend.

Was there with a friend The vibe of the place is great Good live music band playing jazz Ate some deserts, all good

This is the second time that I've been to this restaurant and every time has been fantastic. The service is impeccable, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is adorable. Definitely one of my favorite finds in New York City

As a former resident and frequent visitor we like to see what's changed in the scene. Northern Mott street is now hip Nolita chock full of places for the hip young folks who swarm around these places. As seniors its fun to hang out in these places too. Had reservations and given the window table. Service and food both very, very good with some unusual dishes. Yes, its cash only but really not expensive for NY. Good wine selection available by glass, bottle and carafe when glass not enough and bottle too much.

After a long walk in New York I wanted a good no-nonsense lunch close to my hotel. At Epistrophy, I got it: great service, great veal Milanse, great service, right price. Nice ambience. Warmly recommended.

We found this little place becasue the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We were lucky that they had a table for us. Half an hour later it was packed and people were sent away. We had soo much food here and all was good.

My daughter and I were in NYC for a week and decided to try out Epistrophy for breakfast. The food was fresh and delicious! We got three items and shared them all. Each was beautifully presented and had great flavors. Highly recommend if you are in Nolita!

We chose this restaurant for dinner after suggestion of italian friends. The owners are natives from my city, Cagliari (Italy) and they were very welcoming with us. Food is a kind of fusion between different regional traditions from Italy and the outcome is definitely delicious! The place is very nice, with a great atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Absolutely suggested.

This restaurant has become one of our favorites when we come to New York. This evening we had a wonderful new server Katie. She could not have been more helpful or friendly and attentive. Thank you Katie. The food was delicious as usual. The burrata salad was so good and we both had the short ribs- so yummy.

We had wonderful gnocchi with truffle, paired with good wine, recommended by the waiter. Experienced and friendly staff.

Okay, we showed up for our reservation for Saturday lunch without expectations, but was surprised to see every table full (except for ours, which was waiting). Absolutely packed, a little loud, close quarters and (frankly), we thought, whoa, everyone here is 30 years younger than we are. Our server didn't seem to think we were out of place - he was welcoming, smart, professional and helpful. The kitchen rocks. Even if the food wasn't excellent (which it was), it deserves top marks for the amount of food that flies out of the kitchen. Everything we ordered was terrific. Our bottle of Sardinian wine (Villa Solais) was incredibly good, well priced and (hooray) properly chilled. This is a restaurant run by savvy people who know how to get it right on every level. Can't wait to go back.
Casual Italian
I don't know who read my mind and created this perfect restaurant from my imagination but bravo! The atmosphere is incredible, the service is unforgettable, and the food blew my socks off. It was the perfect portion so we left feeling energized as you should after a meal!
