Great place! This store has everything you could ever need.

We stopped in to get some supplies to keep in our hotel room. The store had all the staples, a great deli section, and sushi too.

Good Place for Takeaway or Casual Lunch

By Rumples |

This market and eatery drew us in for lunch on a hot, muggy day. The large space was around the corner from our hotel and quite convenient when we returned at noon after a long morning of sightseeing. We almost tried one of the many food trucks nearby but oped for Ernest Klein & Company, because of its air conditioning. We were delighted with our choice. This place has almost endless possibilities for meals: Japanese, Chinese, soups, sandwiches, salads, hot entrees and the list goes on and on. Almost an entire wall displayed cold drinks. The only drawbacks proved to be making a decision and finding a table. I finally selected sushi and my husband opted for soup. We paid the cashier and then began a fruitless search for a place to sit. Customers already sat at every table and chair and a line had formed, waiting for a vacancy. We opted to forego an unknown wait time here and instead return to our hotel room to eat our meal there. The fresh sushi was very good -- nicely prepared and tasty -- and my husband liked his soup. Each employee we interacted with in this store was pleasant and efficient. The place appeared to be quite clean and had nice food displays. We found it to be tremendously popular during lunchtime with tourists and workers in the area. We walked by once in early evening, however, and only a few customers sat at tables then. Ernest Klein & Company stands near the Museum of Modern Art and would be a good, moderately priced lunch choice when visiting that museum or other attractions nearby.

Fresh home cooked food

This is a delightful shop. Almost like UK supermarket but with a fantastic hot food counter and soup bar. Have taken to getting our lunch here most days whilst on holiday. Very reasonable price and extremely tasty with so much variety. So glad we found it on day one of our stay. A must if you are in Midtown and even worth the journey if you aren’t.

Just superb!

They tell you you need to find a deli in New York, and didn't we do just that. Widest range of food. Chateau Diana wine tres ordinaire though. But otherwise, a delight to have just a block down from our hote.

Grocery store, cafe and fast food restaurant

By Gabriel H |

Located in Midtown, this is a convenient place for a good cup of coffee or tea, a sandwich or snacks or to load up on your weekly groceries. The quality of the goods is high, as are the prices. The selection of groceries and snacks is very good. Service is fast and friendly.

Wonderful

Cool store in Midtown

By Dale P |

I love this place. It is just so New York. The aisles are narrow, hand things are stacked literally to the ceiling. You will find, however nearly anything that you can imagine as far as food. The prepared foods are excellent, and there was a great variety. You will not go home hungry.

Good chocolates

By Oliver S |

Sandwiches, salads, sweets, fresh fruit and overpriced deli items, one of these quintessential New York places where you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, If you go there, look downtown on the opposite site to see the line waiting to get in the Carnegie Deli, especially now, that they have announced they are closing.

The Premier Go To!

By Mace Maureen L |

I slipped out of the Warwick to get ti this place almost 24 hours a day! It was always open, the food was always fresh, and there was nothing it did not have! convenient to hotels around the 6th avenue and 54th street area. Get down there the you're in midtown! Big time selection of deserts and deli!

Lovely Market

Walking into Ernest Klein & Co is like visiting a vintage New York market with a perfect blend of old and new. Their inventory is vast and they offer some delicious hot meals to take on the go or eat there. I wish the eating area in the front were a bit warmer since it's so close to the door, but the deli is fantastic and the hot/cold buffet bar has some of the best veggie dishes. We went back the next day to eat lunch there again because it was so good.

No panini-pressing machine.

By jyetais1 |

In the window the panini seemed succulent. I made an exception to my plan and bought myself one. I would have done better to abstain: Ernst Klein doesn't have a panini pressing machine. They're microwaved. I couldn't eat what I bought and put it in the garbage.

High Quality Supermarket

By RSM123123 |

Impressive high quality supermarket with some prepared foods. Very clean. Good selection of drinks, waters, fruits, snacks, etc. Prices on the higher side but you are in midtown NYC, not Kansas.

Nice spot.

Nice spot near our hotel - good selection of food and fruit and also a good selection of drinks, especially some non-alcoholic beers (which are sometimes find to hard in some places). Did not have the sandwiches but they did look delicioius.

Excellent deli & eat in

By StephenCross |

Ernest Klein is a great deli on sixth Ave. friendly staff, great bagels and freshly made rolls -/ sandwiches. Reasonably priced for NY.

DELIGHTFUL SHOP

By Ashley |

Amazing place to grab some food, fairly priced and delicious, fresh deserts, sandwiches and sushi. So so yummy. The sushi was particularly good. They also have a load of fresh baguettes and ciabattas at the counter and extra soy sauce and cutlery if you need it when you check out. Definitely worth a visit if you don’t want to get ripped off like lots of other delis and cafes in New York do!

Convenient Specialty Grocery!

By Gimena B |

I like going to Klein’s because it has fresh/everything, from great vegetables, cheeses, fruits, and an array of chocolates to choose from, plus they prepare sandwiches and have a to-go Deli, and a well stacked supermarket with everything from your daily groceries and cleaning products to beverages and spirits.

Anything you want or need for groceries/food in Midtown

By AKto900 |

This is primarily a grocery store with a hot table and deli. The groceries are plentiful and there is a great selection of standard items as well as some great organic and hand made items; especially in the chocolate and cookie area. The hot table is stocked and fresh and the deli area is great with make your own salad, sandwich, everything you'd expect. I've always found everything I wanted here, which is perfect if you are staying in a hotel near by and would prefer not to eat out every night. There are lots of registers with helpful staff. Prices are high, as expected in the area. There is a seating area if you want to eat in store.

Big Apple Gourmet!

By Laurie B |

It's always a pleasure to visit this full service gourmet grocery store that has the best selection of fresh food anywhere in midtown New York City. In addition to the excellent area restaurants, we love to have some cheese, sliced deli, bread & fruit in our hotel room refrigerator.

Loved this place

Popped in for snacks stayed for lunch. Everything you could want, amazing cherry pie. Staff friendly, not too pricy. They stock every kind of junk food plus the healthy food to order. 200 yards from Central Park entrance

They had everything I was needing

By ExperiencedTravelers |

I needed some items and happened upon this market. They have everything, including sandwiches. While typical NY prices, it was much more comprehensive than I imagined. I went back and even found more stuff. A good find!

Very handystore

By Mike B |

This very very close to our hotel, and was very handy to get extras. Apart from being a grocery store, makes up wonderful sandwiches. Also has a sushi and hot meal bar, as well as selling breakfast items and a good selection of fruit, tea coffee etc. Very useful if you don't want to pay out for expensive breakfasts and lunch each day.

By lmdoane55 |

on my most recent visit to New York City I stayed in midtown at a fabulous hotel (more on that later) and I discovered this fantastic gourmet grocery just around the corner from my hotel that made absolutely delicious sandwiches and wraps made to order as well as a great selection of ready made of the same in a refrigerated section if you don’t have the time nor inclination to wait. there’s also a full selection of beverages and fruits and just about anything you want for snacking. you won’t be disappointed if you stop in to pickup a few things when you’re in the neighborhood.

Klein’s carries high quality food and produce from all over the world. In addition, they sell prepared food (cold as well as hot dishes).

Awesome deli mart on 6th ave.

By D D |

Great deli market on 6th ave. Their hot buffet was very good and they had "ok" sushi as well. Not bad for a deli mart. Their coffee also has nice crema and it is of good quality. We also went back to get breakfast and they had so many options in the cold section. I also got some freshly made breakast sandwich. We were so happy we stumbled into this market.

A New York deli to beat them all !

By Nora246@btinternet.com |

Just what you imagine a NY deli to be like, situated just around the corner from our hotel, very good choice of food hot or cold through out the day, breakfast of croissants and English b'fast tea great start to the day! Staff were friendly at all times nothing too much trouble. Central Park is just down the Avenue.

Nice options

By kerosarge |

Stayed at the Hilton for a business trip, stopped in here to grab some snacks and check it out. Prices were ok, service was ok, but it was nice to run in and grab things and be on my way. Grabbed a premade sandwich, honestly as good as the deli I ate at later that week and half the price.
