68 of 213 Bars & Pubs in New York City

Great bartenders, loud music and a lively crowd. Be ready to be in a beyond crowded bar and have a hard time getting to the bar unless you have a seat..

This is one of my personal favorite dive bars in NYC. First allow me to say this --- the wings and homemade potato chips ARE THE BEST in the city...Lets just say when my friends and I started hanging here after work on Fridays, it quickly became our norm, "meet me at fat" kinda place....Seriously we're there at least once a month, in the summer, like EVERY weekend...Yea, for real. Great atmosphere, music, pool table, places to sit at the bar, booths, a couple booth tables (well if you get there early enough). I LOOOOOVE the other side of the place, its a lounging kinda area with different music playing, limited seating in this area some times, so ummmm (get there early) all in all, great food, music, bartenders, servers, reasonably priced for NYC....

We were in the neighbourhood and were attracted to the two are on this street (can't remember the name of the one next door). The decor is fab and the service is friendly. There is a pool table, darts and a few TVs playing various programmes to entertain in the conversation gaps. They had a happy hour on when we went in and the drinks were really cheap (I think $6 for a beer and a bourbon, but we had a few 😱) I loved the chandelier I the main area, and they opened up another lounge whilst we were there which had sofas and old wing backed chairs etc in. The music was great and only added to the atmosphere. Well done guys!

I wouldn't suggest making this a destination but if you're in the area there's probably worse places to relax as the sofa's were comfortable and the service good, as well a decent range of world beers.

Excellent bar noisy.. why ? Because this is Greenwich Because you can watch a football match Because of the person at the entrance... He is amazing and he is doing well his Job... If you are under 21 forget it

Second time we have been here when visiting NYC. It is right near 2 of the most famous live music venues and has forged its own unique character in a city crawling with bars. The main bar is simple booths and bar stools, but for something more special the side bar with waiter service is more like a secluded chill area complete with thrones for the Princes and Princesses to enjoy. A cool vibe and good value happy hour.

Great bar. Amazing room for comedy. Went here October 2019 after booking on the comedy cellar for Colin Quinn. He did that bit where he put an awful warmup on first to make himself seem better. But seriously it’s Colin Quinn live in a small comedy room in Greenwich. What more do you want? Perfect room for comedy in the back. How a weird selection of flea market furniture adds to the atmosphere in these clubs I’ll never know but it looks great. The staff in the front bar and the wait staff who looked after us during the show were great (tip your waitresses).

What an awesome place! My wife and I went here on two separate occasions and both times, the place was packed. They had a great music selection and all of the staff were attentive and friendly. I will say that if you’re a Michelob drinker, beware of the expiration date on the bottles. We got one from 2009 that tasted like it had fermented and could easily have passed for wine! Other than that it’s a great place, and we will definitely return.

The Happy Hour here lasts for a very long time. We ended up playing lots of pool as the pool table wasn't too busy and also had some Karaoke fun in the back room when the drinks prices rose. Stumbling out is an essential part of the experience. Very nice spot to hide yourself away from the bustle.

We go here for every trip to NYC. The music is great and the on screen videos are so entertaining. It's a great place to pop in for a drink or two or six.

We stopped for drinks at the end of the night. They had a nice selection and I liked the atmosphere.

We went here before going to the comedy club next door. Everyone gets ID'd. Not a friendly welcome. Was just so so. Service was decent from the waitress but the atmosphere was lacking.

Came here to spend time with my NYC friends and I was not expecting it to be a really cool, down to earth place. The waitress was very friendly and always was on top of our drinks. The music they play is on point and exciting, the atmosphere is very enjoyable, and the pool table just adds to the fun. Their food is also pretty good.

This club just in opposite of the famous Blue Note, great place with nice people. Happy hour reduced prices for drinks. I heard also Bob Dylan was there...

Have been to this place several times with friends on Friday eve after work.. place is always lively and mad crowded (especially the outer room and the dance floor downstairs).. beer is cheap.. and Stella is my fav..do note that they charge a fee for entry to dance floor.

Having spent a great evening at Chris Botti’s opening night over the road, we decided to go as always across the road for a night cap. There is a reason this bar is rated below 2000 others in NYC. The treatment of my wife by the doorman and the manager was utterly disgraceful. As you can see I hardly ever write negative reviews, but I am incensed by the people running this bar. My advice is. Avoid it like the plague.

Stopped in with friends for happy hour and to cool off from a sweltering hot and humid day. Local bar, good a/c.

Very nice place, good atmosphere, people of all ages. The drinks seems nice, but didn't get it. The list of beers are quite good -- nothing very special tho...

Retro decor, sofa seats, a nice staff and top comics on weekends makes this a very appealing setting.

Had a great time at the show. Colin is really funny and had a lot of topical stories and bits that kept us drawn in and laughing. The guy opening for him wasn't so good and I felt sorry for him. But Colin saved the night.

The Moroccan lounge at the Fat Black Pussycat is truly one of the coolest spots to hang with friends and get a few drinks. However, they really need to lose the TVs in the lounge area. It takes away from the vibe and atmosphere in a most negative way. They are bright and unnecessary. I would give 5 stars if they'd lose those TVs with the bad loops of black and white water scenes.

Not much to say, except that this is a bar I frequent quite often (full disclaimer, it's also because one of my friends works here). However, the drinks are fairly priced, and there's always great music playing throughout the building, but especially in the bar - DJ Drewsie is the man! If you're in the mood for live entertainment, the village underground is right downstairs, and the house band is great. Overall, a great little hangout spot in the East Village.

Great venue for comedy, drinks were very reasonable. Staff were super friendly, definitely visiting again on my next trip to new york.

Super organized and timely comedy club Attended a 10pm show on Saturday 12/2/17 and it was great. Comics — Which numbered 5 — were awesome. The place was very organized Would surely recommend and return.

I guess I was lucky that it was soooo cold outside, it was not too crowded inside. But what a nice bar this is. Very friendly staff, good selection of beers and next door to one of the best comedy clubs of New York. Darts and pool billiard in the back for when it's not too busy. Love it and will come back soon!

I love the FBPC. Great DJs on the weekend. Some days the place is packed and it is hard to move a round, so on weekends I would probably not recommend it for a romantic date. They have a great beer selection and yummy cocktails.

Visted after seeing others reviews on here and saw about the happy hour! Great value 50% off between 4-8 for happy hour which really is a saving! It's a really cool bar with bar and booth seating! There is also pool table and dart boards so we played a few games of pool which was great! The staff were friendly enough and the place was clean and nice! We were going to eat but it felt like it was a bit dark for having food for us! Would recommend to anyone as it's a cool place to go for some drinks!

Stopped in for some late night drinks on our way through the neighbourhood on a recommendation. We found the decor charming, with old Victorian style couches, chair and tables making nice little seating areas everywhere. There is a pool table and dart board in in the back which kept our group entertained while we wrapped up last call. Staff was friendly, drinks were good, prices average. There was a whole second side we didn't venture over to, but glancing in it looked more set-up for restaurant rather than bar.

Stopped in on a Monday night for our last night out in the city on a recommendation from another bar that was closing. Had a great time playing darts. Reasonably prices drinks & good service!

The only thing keeping my review from being "Excellent" was the confusing process to get on a wait list to get into the show. (Talk to the person outside the bar, on the sidewalk, 30 minutes before the show starts. Other people will be trying to get into another show at the same time, so it's a bit of a circus.) Once we got into the show, I absolutely loved it! Seating is cozy and eccentric, and the variety of comedians they book can pretty much guarantee you'll be laughing at some point during the show. As usual for a comedy club, there is a two item minimum, which can include drinks and food. The service was great, and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Loved this place. Great music, great happy hour and fantastic staff! This was my first trip to NYC and a friend who lives in the village took me after work. The bar tender made me a special cocktail as I ordered a vodka lemonade and Lime which couldn't do. Great atmosphere and brilliant time had there

I was brought here the first time by a New Yorker, and went back again a year later with a fellow traveler. I love this place... evokes images of a hip place to grab a drink back in the day. You enter in through what looks like any neighborhood bar... bar on the left, people hanging out, chillin', enjoying conversations. Right past the bar, you go through a passage with curtains, and you're in a really neat lounge with couches and retro lamps. Hung here both times that I was there. Is just a really nice place to hang out and enjoy your company. Their flavored vodka is not to be missed! I'm not a huge vodka fan, but wow! It's really good. The pineapple vodka is really memorable. I had a great manhattan, too. The first time that I was there was on a Friday night... my friend and I ended up going downstairs where there was a live band playing, and we lost track of time, dancing, drinking and having a great time. Felt like I fit right in, and not a gawky tourist.

It's all black on the outside and right across the street from the subway, so it's very easy to get to. The street that it's on is full of jazz bars and clubs, so I would very much recommend this area. The bar is relaxed, I liked the atmosphere, the bar man was good (always remembered my drink - even when I came back two days later) and would happily recommend it!

If you're in the village and are looking for a nice little spot, I recommend this place. The drinks are cheap and the vibes are cool. Do stop in.

Went here for a few drinks with some girlfriends and loved it. The music was fun, tv screens playing old movies and sitcoms, and they actually had happy hour on a Saturday night. And it was a really good happy hour - half price drinks! The homemade chips were yummy as well. Gave it a four only because we didn't actually eat but I would definitely go back.

This was one of my favorite places to go grab a quick drink with friends around Washington Square in college. It does get busy - some nights it was too packed to find a place to chill out, but mostly, you'd be able to pull up a couch and chill out and still be able to hear your friends when they were speaking - always a great feature.
Great for any occasion
This place is full of suprises.. I celebrated my birthday here in their beautiful, large party room set with victorian furniture. The staff was very approachable and were able to accommodate lst minute requests, despite how busy and full they were. There us also a mid-eastern style vip room up the stairs as well, as a showroom downstairs. Good music. Finally I always come back here to main room scene with the traditional pool and darts..and a decent bar and finger menu. This place has yet to disappoint me. (Once I ended up playing pool wuth some lical comedians here)
