Stumbled upon it

By Jennifer S |

My friend and I were recently visiting NYC. While walking the streets looking for a place to grab some breakfast we noticed this cute, bright and cheerful restaurant! The pancakes were out of this world. Highly recommend to anyone visiting!

A very pleasant surprise

By Steven M |

An unplanned visit to Flipper’s for a late afternoon meal proved to be a very pleasant surprise. The chicken and waffles were perfectly prepared and presented, as were the fresh fruit soufflé pancakes. Definitely worth another visit the next time my wife and I are in the area.

Thursday morning

By Danielle R |

Came on a Thursday morning, seated straight away. First time trying soufflé pancakes and we weren’t disappointed. Nice bright, airy decor. Friendly staff. Amazing food. What more could you ask for?!

Delicious but expensive.

By Abraham m |

The fluffy Japanese pancakes were delicious but expensive also we wait 45 minutes to be seated and another 20 minutes for the pancakes. Sadly I saw many kids leave with their parents cause the wait was too much. It was sad because it was Christmas's time. I think they should organize better. The waiter weren’t organized either for the season. Well been there done that kind of think but I don’t think I will be back. My advise if you go and it happen you can go in without the wait, by all means go and have the experience. If you have to wait go some place else, there other places the serve these type of pancakes. SOHO area is ridiculously expensive.

Very good fluffy pancakes

By Edoardo |

I went for breakfast and it was very good. The pancakes are great and fluffy even if the wait is a bit long (justified). The fruit is good as well. I did not appreciate the grapefruit juice too sour.

Excellent and Unique Pancakes

By Joseph M |

Very different, but excellent Japanese Soufflé Pancakes. We had the traditional soufflé pancakes ($17) and the fresh fruit soufflé pancakes ($19), an order of breakfast sausage ($6) and coffee ($6). The sausage was also very good. Service was average and the order comes out slow and a bit uncoordinated. Our coffee arrived halfway through the meal. One plate of pancakes arrived 5-6 minutes before the other. But, the pancakes are good enough to put up with some service issues.

Best pancakes in the SOHO district!

The pancakes are awesome. Never eaten so good. Staff very friendly - Locally clean. Everything fits here... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a wonderful change in a pancake

By BrianT787 |

Wanted to try the Japanese "fluffy" pancake I'd heard so much about - and I'm glad I did. It is more an egg souffle grilled up like a pancake, but it was light and fluffy as advertised. Combined with the maple whipped cream, it was heaven. The wife and I both ordered the plain, but I did take a picture of the table next to us to show off some of the other items. Looking forward to coming back to try more.

Not worth the visit

By Chmpgnrose |

After waiting perpetually for forty-five (45) minutes for a table as party of one, disappointedly it was certainly not "well worth the wait" as my experience was blatantly malevolent. This business uses Yelp platform for waiting list via text message notification. The male waiter Sebasitian G. ASSUMED I was part of my seat neighbor male party of one when clearly my utensils were still wrapped and untouched. Why men who see a single lady dining alone at a restaurant the customer service is malevolent? I feel worse when leaving than upon entering to be debased. Judgment provokes strife roiled. I was clearly invisible to this waiter. I waited, waited and perpetually waited to be greeted and serviced by a waiter. I sat waited, waited, waited and perpetually waited exactly as "Waiting for Godot," a play by Irish writer and playwright Samuel Beckett, but there was no intervention. Then, I had to flag his attention to be provided menus and water. I already had my order in mind as I did not want to stay in his aggravating presence much longer since he was visibly reluctant to serve me with utter disdain. Extreme utter acquiesce. He serviced this party of one male, to my right as I watched and observed who also spent the time, effort and passion servicing a party of two (a couple) to my left. "I thought you were part of that man's party." Oh! By the power of observation this restaurant was not entirely busy on a Saturday afternoon lunch as it was not full capacity where every seat is occupied as Flipper's clearly does not have the staff nor the resources to service a full house. Sebasitian G. was utterly intentional oblivious to my presence as I, obviously do not rank high for importance in priority. I was lured to Flipper's for Yelp reviews praising their signature "soufflé" styled pancakes, but my blatant BAD experience left a bad taste to become dispirited and despondent to eat anything. Sebasitian G. is bereft and devoid of empathy for the smallest measurement of an apology. There was another party who sat far and remote with a 2 year old male child wailing boisterously loud continuously for the entire duration of their meal in a stroller that echoed the restaurant. I saw this same party during my initial perpetual wait for a table and this same 2 year old male child was also wailing boisterously loud. Oh! The male waiter Sebasitian G. continued his indifference with me when I inquired directions for facility direction: "you should go downstairs as there is a line, only one restroom" fending curtness. Oh! To retaliate I choose NOT to issue any gratuity of the suggested intervals 18%, 20% and 22% written on the bottom of the claim check/bill, oh hell no! I paid $25.00 in cash for my $22.86 bill. I ejected a rude scowl look for reaction to his stolid look. Salmon cream cheese sandwich, $21.00 My salmon sandwich was a messy consumption. The sourdough bread was hard for staleness as the edge was hard. I always have a predilection for the classic French baguette bread as a better replacement for substance. I enjoyed the red onions. The salmon was very fresh. My sandwich was accompanied with tomato and lettuce which was standard. The salad was also average accompanied with sufficient ranch dressing. Bye, Felicia!

Great pancakes

By Ben H |

Had a 20 minute to wait for a table as place was very busy , that's always a good sign and the pancakes didn't disappoint, sure they are a little on the pricey side but you are in Soho so going to be a bit more, very good selection and you will love them , lovely taste and presentation , worth a visit

Fluffy soufflé pancakes

By foodlovergirlny |

Ever since the popular Japanese pancake shop, Flipper’s came to NYC, I have been wanting to go and try their famous soufflé pancakes. In mid-March on a weekday, we finally got to visit Fipper's. They had outdoor seating area, but the seating was not set up. It is possible that they only offer outdoor seating during weekend. The first floor is not staffed, and customers are supposed to go upstairs to be seated. Bright yellow wallpaper accompanied the staircase, like a ray of sunshine. The second floor was bigger than I thought it would be. We wanted to order some drinks, so I asked our waiter what his favorite drink was, and he said Milk Tea with ice, half sweetness, and with Boba. It sounded great, so we went with that. It was really good! It tasted like Japanese Royal Milk Tea that I used to get in Japan, but without Boba. For food, we ordered Matcha Flipper’s Pancake, Chicken and Waffle, and side of Bacon. The soufflé pancakes are very plump and much taller than regular pancakes. They didn't have much sweetness to it, even the cream was not sweet. So, the syrup was a must, in my opinion. But with the lack of sweetness, it was rather refreshing pancakes. They were fluffy like a sponge, egg-y like a soufflé, different from any other pancakes out there for sure. I saw several photos of their Chicken Waffle, which had one round waffle topped with two large pieces of chicken. When it came out with two small waffles, I was a bit sad… Nothing like seeing a whole, round, beautiful waffle under the juicy chicken… They had two square-shaped waffles, with two chicken pieces. It came with a side of Maple Butter, which tasted like caramel. Sweet and interesting, it went great with waffle! The chicken thigh was very juicy and meaty, but the other piece was rather thin, and a bit dry. They were crispy and not greasy, with a little kick to it, which I liked. The side of Bacon was super crispy. I prefer my bacon to be less crispy, I like juicy bacon…but that is just my preference. It was good, but nothing special. I noticed that all the pates had a small chip on the edges. I said, “they should call themselves Chippers Flipper’s” LOL. Overall, we had a nice lunch here at Flipper’s. I am glad we finally got to try their famous and popular soufflé pancakes. The milk tea was really great, and the pancakes were indeed interesting. The server was really nice and friendly too.

Oh yes !

By Epicure |

The ordinary breakfast of my hotel called for a tasty alternative across the street, and I pushed the Flipper's door by chance. And chance became luck : these airy pancakes and waffles are a blast ! This is seriously satisfying and comforting food, and the friendly staff made me feel like come back again and again...

Advised!!!

By Beatrice |

Very good omelette with mushrooms and spinach, avocado toast with cherry tomatoes and delicious morsels of mozzarella. All accompanied by salad and chips with truffle mayonnaise. Special mention for the soufflé pancakes with melted chocolate, caramelized banana, chocolate ice cream and whipped cream... Truly beyond compare! SPACIALS! Prices in line with NYC. Advised!

Soufflé pancakes & bubble tea!

By CYC |

Cute restaurant with a nice waiting area and app based queuing system, allows you to take a walk around the area while you wait for a table. Staff are lovely. The Milk Tea with Boba is very good. The soufflé pancakes were delicious, they are very filling. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.

Must visit!!

By NDM |

We arrived without expectations, however it was a pleasant surprise. It's worth the wait, get ready and sign up for the waiting list or get there early. Banana, fruit and strawberry pluffy Normal blackberries and lemon mascarpone. Everything, it's great!!!

Japanese delight!!

By Travellover |

Fluffy and light Japanese soufflé pancakes! We all enjoyed our dishes! Soufflé pancakes with fruit and whipped cream, eggs Benedict , omelette, bottomless coffee and passion fruit green tea with boba was very refreshing and delicious! Friendly service and a happy vibe all around! A wonderful brunch!

The best pancakes!

By Freddy |

This by far is my best experience of pancakes in New York City. The service was fast and the food was delicious. We went for the soufflé pancakes but they were amazing! Note: Get there early because it’s first come, first served. We arrived around 9:30 and got a table straight away but upon leaving at 10:30, there was a line out of the door!

Japanese Souffle Pancakes were Fluffy and Airy

By LovesDessert |

Read on YELP to be prepared and wait at least an hour between being seated and then for your order to be served. I walked in at 10:50am and was immediately seated by the host. Server took my order for the souffle pancakes and in 20 minutes I was served a beautiful plate of billowy pancakes. Not too sweet and no syrup required. Would come back and try other breakfast dishes.

Epic pancakes

We do love a pancake. But a SOUFFLÉ pancake? Extraordinary! Definitely worth the trip. Great service too. 100% recommend. On my list for my next trip to NYC!

Absolutely delicious!!

Wow, this place was amazing!!! Dreaming about their soufflé pancakes - and their truffle fries!! Perfection!! Really yummy!

TOP & SUPER TASTY!

We wanted to have a little something to eat. We had something savory and something sweet ☺️ Both were absolutely fantastic, both in terms of appearance and taste.

Hmmm 😋

By Pioneer64560761557 |

Yummy Yummy Yummy. Still within the price range! Service very attentive and accommodating. In terms of time -> no long wait

Great service and food

By fashionade |

Great service and food. Ordered the famous soufflé pancakes and they didn’t disappoint. The matcha and hot chocolate was also really good as well.

Fun, kinda different breakfast!

By Wander |

This was our first experience with Japanese soufflé style pancakes and they were soooo good! I was afraid they would be really dense but they were very light and fluffy and I didn’t feel weighed down after eating the whole thing. I would recommend joining the waitlist ahead of getting there on a weekend. Check google maps and join the waitlist from there because we joined when it was an hour to an hour and a half before on the train and we got there right on time for our turn. Very cute decor and I even asked for a sticker and not only did they bring me one, I also got a postcard of the restaurant! I would absolutely return to this place (with some planning ahead of course).

Best pancakes ever!!

By Jurjen v |

If you are visiting New York and you like pancakes? This is the place to visit. They are as fluffy as they look!

Absolutely unbelievable!

By offyoupoptravel |

Absolutely unbelievable! Best pancakes we have ever had. We shared the original soufflé pancakes and could have just kept on eating. So light and delicious!

Best japanese pancakes in nyc

By Smittenfood |

This place has a long wait... we waited an hour but it was really efficient and easy because they have a live waitlist tracker so we could walk around soho and come back when our table was ready. The wait was so worth it because the seating upstairs is super pretty and comfortable with lovely street side view tables. The pancakes of course are absolutely delicious! They take 20mins to prepare so it is a place that requires patience but you will be well rewarded. The drinks were way too sweet for my taste so my recommendation is to stick to what they do best... the pancakes. The strawberry flippers and classic were our favorites.

I wouldn’t go back!

By James W |

I wouldn’t go back! Hard room with lots of echo makes it a noisy dining space. Large menu but not a lot of desirable choices as expected from a “pancake house”. Chef wants you to order what he/she wants you to eat. My omelette was quite good, but my partners Eggs Benedict was served cold. Upon complaining about this, the server gave us a 50% discount on the Eggs Benedict. There are other, better options.

Fluffy pancakes

By Giuseppe S |

Fluffy pancakes for a real Japanese experience. I had a benedict salmon one, classic with cream and strawberry. Good and not expensive but i expected a plus. They are really light and fluffy. But some maple syrup eould have helped

Nice atmosphere

By arass |

I tried their famous soufflé pancakes and I liked them, but I must say that their classic pancakes are also great. The “homemade” lemonade is delicious. Great Service

Exquisite pancakes, Staff a little less.

By Giulio |

Pancakes delicious, fluffy and well made. Location without reservation, you wait and climb. It is worth it, a little less for the very nice guy with long hair, I think like the head of the room. Disliked and rude, change jobs if you don't feel like it. Net of this, to go back without problems.

Best Pancakes !!

By Sportmanpr |

I enjoy the visit and love the Japanese style pancakes, super fluffy, lights… the ambience is very cool. The service is great. My friends tried other dishes from the menu and they were all very good. The mimosas were spectacular. We went from Times Square and it was super easy to get there.

Exquisite and abundant

By Rafa Rodriguez |

Amazing experience and excellent service. The food is very rich, extremely abundant. I ordered some Benedictine eggs that brought crispy bacon and a delicious flavor. The coffee is very good. I would definitely come back!

Avoid if you’re on a schedule.

By Rebecca S |

Doesn’t honor ticketed times. There was a private event booked at the same time as tickets sold on their website. No empathy from management. Avoid this place unless you have all day to wait.

January 2025 Breakfast at Flipper’s

By alankR688IQ |

Came in from a bitterly cold snowy morning to have one the best breakfasts we have had in a long time. Had the eggs Benedict and the rest of the party shared the pancakes and sausage side. The fluffy soufflé pancakes with cream and fruit were magnificent. Enjoyed the attentive wait staff who kept my mug filled with their endless coffee. We didn’t have time to come back again on this trip but we have already talked about coming back on our next trip.

Ideal setting

By Lilian D |

Good quality brunch in the SoHo district. I highly recommend the pancakes (fluffy for those with a sweet tooth!). Be careful not to come in too many numbers, they don't take reservations and you risk waiting when you arrive.

Great food, long wait

By Sts. Ana G |

I visited the weekend after it opened, this might have influenced. We waited an hour to be seated and an hour to be served. Despite this, the pancakes were amazing and the atmosphere was very enjoyable! Will definitely go back again at some point

Tasty pancakes, fair price

By Eline |

When we arrived in the morning we were the first customers, which was very nice because we didn't have to wait long for our food. The Japanese pancakes were delicious, but were missing some extra maple syrup. It was nice that you could get a refill of the coffee. The service and price/quality were correct. This place is a must if you are in soho!

Get the soufflé pancakes!

By David H |

Went to Flipper's for a casual family breakfast. Had many selections, all were good. Get the soufflé pancakes, as they are a treat and a great way to end a meal. Good value and portions are sized well.

Incredible Japanese soufflé pancakes

By Adrienne C |

Flipper’s is incredibly popular - the two hour wait time for Saturday brunch speaks for itself. Once we were finally seated, it was definitely worth the wait. The pancakes are super light, airy, and fluffy. I got the pancakes with fresh fruit, which was a really nice pairing. The restaurant has a very cozy, down-to-earth feel and the staff is very friendly. Definitely looking forward to trying all of the different pancakes on the menu!
