Great drinks. Great food.

By Mike P |

We started out with some specialty drinks at the bar as we waited for our table. The bartender was so nice and pleasant. Once seated we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We tried the pork and the fish. Both excellent choices and at reasonable prices. Will be going back soon.

I love their lomo saltado and seco

By Yumi H |

Flor de mayo has great Peruvian dishes (also Peruvian beer!). I'm Peruvian and living in NYC so I'm always looking for Peruvian food, and I'm very picky. Their lomo and seco are two of my favorites! They also serve seafood and Chinese food. They are also good. Totally recommend. Alcoholic drinks aren't that great...so, it's best to get a beer or non alcoholic drinks

Packed, People must know, Not your ordinary sangria

By Garry H |

Great Latino food. Many wonderful surprises in the menu as well as lots of comfort food items. I will not give away the sangria but try it, designated driver suggested. We shared plates. Service was very good and helpful

BEST RESTAURANT IN NYC

incredible food at incredible prices!!!! Combo Peruvian-Chinese is unbeatable. Mix and enjoy, ask waiters for advice. Best cocktails in NYC. Best Food! Best Prices! They are on Amsterdam Ave as well.

BLACKLISTED ADDRESS!??!??

By playadani |

We just called here to order our usual and they said our address was not allowed to be delivered too with a note from the manager linked to our address????? Ive never heard of anything like this before in my life.....The lady would not explain why and rudely hung up the phone!!! Will never go here and will tell others not too as well. That's a shame

Best Chicken a Brasa in New York City

By RLG9 |

The Chicken ala Brasa is the best in NYC. The flavor is superb and this bird is always cooked to perfection.

Good Peruvian food

By Piotr_Ru |

While I was somewhat surprised with the vast array of dishes they have on offer we stuck with Peruvian and it was a great choice. Both the chicken and ropa vieja were great. The size of the dishes is quite impressive and we left very fool. I would definitely recommend a visit there.

Black bean soup

By Tomas C |

Until today I thought my family made the best black bean soup. The ropa vieja with white rice, black bean soup and yellow plantain was seasoning to the perfection. I went for lunch and the portion and price were great.

Average

By TheSuze12 |

We were a large group there for a graduation celebration. We had heard great things and perhaps had unrealistic expectations. The service was ok. The food was just ok. The volume of the place made it difficult to hear conversations at our table. Disappointing overall.

The best Rotisserie Chicken in Manhattan

By lizzysanbleuz |

Most people who come to New York get stuck in Times Square and around, the true is they miss better price and better quality food, like the one at Flor de mayo, they have 2 locations 101 st & Broadway & 83 st & Amsterdam ave, Taking train # 1 will leave you close enough to any of those. Besides having the best rotisserie chicken, they also have Spanish & Chinese plates. The prices are reasonable and you will never believe getting charge so little for such quality food. It is always crowed, especially in weekends, that will tell you how good it is. And of course the drinks are fantastic, as well the service

Love this place!!!

By Fifina108 |

Have been going here for YEARS!!! there always seems to be a wait, but its worth it. The team tries to move things along and at times it seems as if they are rushing you, but overall they let you do your thing. Best Latin-Asian fusion. Order their Chicharron con Hueso with the house fried rice. And their drinks are not bad at all!

awesome and cheap restaurant on Broadway

By chrisgoo |

2 friends and I were walking up and down Broadway looking for a place to eat. We passed this place not knowing it was a restaurant and went to look at other places - on the way back we noticed it was actually a restaurant. They had 3 different styles of food available, Spanish, Chinese and Peruvian! We ordered 3 dishes (Peruvian roast chicken, veg dish and shrimp fried rice) and 2 beers and got a complementary plantain (deep fried banana) and it was $37!! Definitely one of the better meals I had in NY

Terrible

By Tiffany H |

whenever you order from them pickup be sure to check your food. THEY ALWAYS FORGET SOMETHING, Like a whole meal. I am pissed! This is the 3rd time they forgot something with my food order

Fake Ceviche Mixto

By twinhome304 |

I am from Peru and I can tell you that if you are looking for ceviche mixto, this is not the place to order. I order over the phone and requested ceviche mixto which cost $11. When my food arrived I was very shock to see a small (6") plastic container filled with half onion 2 pieces of lime and 10 pieces of mix seafood. Who have tried ceviche mixto knows that there is more of onions. Should I have expectation on the rest of the menu? Just my opinion... good luck with your order. Here is a picture : https://picasaweb.google.com/108467656125051850573/FakePeruvianCeviche?authkey=Gv1sRgCNmm4fqG39r7twE#5604050353516000386

The most delicious Peruvian/Chinese food in town!

By Jeffnmin |

This is truly on of the gems of New York City! Excellent food for a reasonable price! I have quite a few favorite dishes from this awesome restaurant, but I must insist you try the Lomo Saltado, Bistec de Palomilla with totones....mmmmm! Tallarin Saltado, and many more dishes to have you licking all ten fingers!! FDM has two locations, my favorite being the one located on 484 Amsterdam Avenue...don't fret no need to make reservations on either one of the locations! I must warn you, sometimes there is a little waiting to be seated....but I assure you, it is worth the wait!! It is family friendly also. The manager and waiters are exceptional!!! Don't forget to order a Nutcracker, Super Nutcracker or Frozen Kamikazi for those that enjoy a good drink! Overall, if you are visiting New York...don't forget to make a stop here and grab a bite...you won't regret it!!! Enjoy and salud!

Great mix of Peruvian and Chinese!

By vcalventi |

Came here looking for a good ceviche and boy did we find it! Additionally fried plantains, fried rice, great chorizo and shrimp. Prices were very affordable and the place was packed (but very little wait) even into late in the night. The staff was very courteous and nice, overall a very good experience (and delicious flan was the icing on the cake).

THE BEST!!

By Magimago |

I have had Peruvian all around the US and in other counties, BUT there is something about this place. It is soo good, I try to go to NYC at least once a year from California to eat here, that is how good it tastes to me. I recommend the Lomo Saltado and of course the ceviche, my all time favorites. The fried yucca is amazing as well. I promise you wont be disappointed.

I've tried their Chinese, Spanish and Peruvian dishes and they are all delicious but I go there for the Peruvian food...

By Christal P |

I've tried their Chinese, Spanish and Peruvian dishes and they are all delicious but I go there for the Peruvian food. Try the Peruvian beef stew in cilantro sauce and the shredded chicken.

Great Food

By Micheal M |

I was offered to come here by the front desk agent at a hotel i was staying and i loved it. The service was good and the food was awesome. I was surprised at the portions they served as well. Big portions great prices. Definitely recommend this place.

Still a reliable choice for a good meal

By Trup |

Hardly elegant, Flor De Mayo is still a fine choice for a solid meal, generous-sized portions and reasonable prices. The place is always busy and understandably so --- like Chinese food? Check. Like Mexican food? Check. Like reasonable prices, large portions and fast service? Check, check, check.

A west side institution

By Stew T |

Whenever I visit New York I always try and squeeze in a visit to this famous upper west side New York restaurant. The cuisine is probably like nothing else you have ever encountered being a mix of Chinese and Peruvian!!! This must have been my 15th visit with an old friend. The place is always rammed full and you must be prepared to wait for a table ( but it's worth it)!! Most of the fellow diners are speaking Spanish so it all very authentic! My friend went for his favourite - the broiled pork chops that comes with rice. This was declared excellent as always. I decided I had to try something different this time. I usually have their signature dish - the roast chicken which is award winning and totally amazing. I went this time for the crispy shrimp with a meat and prawn fried rice. The friend rice was amazing but the shrimp was a little dry. I will stick to my usual path of the roast chicken next time. They have another venue further south on the west side. I have been there a few times and it's equally good. Will I return? Try stopping me!!

Great Peruvian/Chinese food!!!

By Erica. B |

My family and I have been coming here for years! Have never eaten from their Chinese menu, but their selection and Peruvian dishes are very good. My faves are their Lomo Saltado (fried beef steak in a tomato, onion and french fry stir fry) and their Green Spaghetti with garlic shrimp. Ambience is a ok for friends and family. Even a date possibly, but if you're looking for trendy decor, you won't get it here.

Good Food, Interesting Peruzian Asian

By Edgar E |

I had the chance to visit and found the food was excellent and the service was attentive. I visited with my wife and we both ate from the Peruvian entrees towards the back of the menu. She ordered the Lomo Saltado and I ordered the Aji de Gallina, both were very good. As an appetizer we had the Papas Arequipeñas which were fantastic and some Peruvian beer. I had a great time and I can't wait to go there again.

Great food, good value

By Ramona R |

I visited this restaurant with my bro, his wife and my bf, it was recommended to us by the staff at our hotel. Just a short walk away from our hotel on Broadway. The service was prompt and efficient, our waitress was very helpful in assisting us with our orders. The food was absolutely great, the Peruvian chicken, fried rice and veggies was amazing. Loved the friend plantains as well. Great value for money.

Great Peruvian dishes

By Acmchik |

We really enjoyed our meal at Flor de Mayo. We ended up sticking to the Peruvian dishes as they were more interesting for us. The Pollo a la Brasa and the Lomo Saltado were excellent and reasonably priced, the service was quick and courteous, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was good. We would certainly return.

OMG THIS CHICKEN IS AMAZING!!!

By Irene C |

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! the Chicken has flavors we never imagined we would taste. If you are from the Bay and you have been to Limon and think that it is good, you have yet to try this place (I personally do not like Limon and think it is overrated) The Lomo is freaking delicious. I am salivating just thinking about it. Might go back again when I am in NY in April...

Great Chino/Latino!

By Sue M |

I have been craving some Flor De Mayo! Not expensive. Fast and good service. The food is fresh and delicious. Oh man! I think it's time to go get myself some Flor...

Love this place. Old school places still exist.

By Toby M |

My favorite place in NYC hands down. Best food, value, taste and serving size. We always leave happy. It’s one of the few old school places left in this part of the city. Hopefully it stays for a looong time.

The best chicken in the city

By cynthia1300 |

OK so I live in the area and I'm not a tourist. This place, by far, has the best chicken I have ever eaten. It has a diner like feel so don't expect fancy. But it is clean and the waiters are very attentive. Primarily local familiies of spanish decent gather here. They have rosterie chicken with pork fried rice that is amazing. There is another dish which I can't remember the name of but it has steak, potatoes and sauce all mixed together over rice. Tell that to the waiter and they will know what it is. Although I have never tried their mixed drinks they look very strong and exotic ( too expensives for me)

Just ok

By chill35 |

This restaurant is a mix between spanish and chinese food and was a little too confusing for my taste. I didn't really know what to order so I thought to play it safe and just order fried rice that had lots of random meat in it. It was actually tasty, but not your typical fried rice. But I guess that is where the mix of foods comes into play. I had the red sangria, which was actually very, very good.

Awesome food, reasonable prices

By NYCRotaryRocket |

Ate here for lunch for the first time. We were seated right away and the servers were friendly and attentive. We ordered the ropa vieja with some platano maduros and black beans and hubby had the 1/2 Peruvian chicken, the food was excellent! Very tasty and fulfilling. The portions were humongous so we couldn't even finish our plates! The price is a bargain for NYC standards. The only drawback is that the seating space was very tight but its the norm for expensive NYC. Highly recommended! Definitely will be coming back.

Very Good

By Toddlealong |

Wife and I visited here for one of there lunch specials, Excellent value for money. Bread, iced water, nice tasty hot soup, shredded beef with a salad and French fries, chicken with peppers, fried rice and salad. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

Not fancy by any means, but hands down the best Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken in nyc!

By Jasmine V |

Not fancy by any means, but hands down the best Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken in nyc!

Lomo is a Must Have

By Jonathan D |

Its a typical peruvian dish which consist of steak slices tomato and french fries (sauteed together) over rice (house special fried rice) Generous portions and paired with their sangria (red preferrably) Will Not Disappoint!

Food was amazing, service ruined it

By michellechiax33 |

The food was great, I ordered a Pollo a la Brasa lunch special. It came with soup and a side of salad with white rice. The white rice was totally bland. I had to throw some salt on it to add some flavor. I would come back for the food but not for the service. The server looked like he could care less about our table and barely checked in with us.

Delicious!

By shia027 |

The rotisserie chicken was delicious! A little salty but still packed with flavor! Affordable too! I would come back!

Flavorful!!!

By npat80 |

Great food with great prices!!!! Had a beef with vegetables, fries, gravy on a bed of rice. There was a like but we got in quick for a group of 5. Busy place for sure, but well worth it! Good eats and whenever I go back to NYC, I can't wait to check it out!

Best chicken

By Miki M |

My sister and me entered the restaurant without knowing much about it. We read the menu and decided to try the pollo a la brasa a Peruvian special chicken and were surprised to taste such a tasty tender chicken. After a day we came again. Nice atmosphere good service and best chicken we ever had.

Great Cuban Chinese Cuisine

By Bishop K |

Decided to stop by this past week on a whim with some friends from NJ after the beach, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Ordered the traditional Chicharon de Pollo ( Deep fried chicken pieces ) and Arroz Chino ( Cuban Chinese fried rice. Which came with a lettuce/ tomatoe salad and fried plantains. Service was fairly quick despite the restaurant being pretty full. Quality was excellent and most of all the quantity was good enough for two people although it was only one cover dish. Location is very accessible by Mass transit. Most of all the price is more than fair. I will definitely go back.

Excellent food at very reasonable prices

By Trup |

My son-in-law and I went to Flor De Mayo (the location on Broadway) for dinner a few nights ago and both of us were certainly well satisfied by the experience. The portions were both tasty and ample and the prices were surely reasonable. The service was prompt and there was an obvious "buzz" in this restaurant. I would have no hesitation in returning!

Friends & Family visit

Wow Wow Wow the food was great. The place was very nice and the services were great and with a smile. Loved it will return and try other dishes.

Rude Chinese women doing waitlist mentally unstable!

By Daydream08987462069 |

The front stage Chinese woman who does the wait list on april 20th 2024 at 8-9pm is extremely obnoxious and rude. I called to make a reservation for four and she said the wait would be 20 mins and they don't take reservations over the phone. I stated I was 2 blocks away so could she just put me on the list cause I'm literally in a car down the block and if I have to wait 20 mins anyways I will be there before then. The woman over the phone said "like I said no reservations over the phone I need to see the entire party is here". I said okay I'm 2 blocks, can you put me on the list because we are literally going to be there anyways? She replied okay. I get to the Resturant in less than 3 mins from her saying okay about the reservation with my entire party. The place was way over occupancy amount with several people in the way of the entrance/bar area. I see the woman who was orchestrating the seating and said Hi I had just called over the phone for the party of 4 and was told there was a 20min wait just letting you know my entire party is here with my 4yr old daughter standing in front of me and my 12 yr old son behind me and my sister. The woman aggressively and rudely replied loudly we don't take reservations over the phone and I said well I spoke to you or someone and they said okay since I was nearby, anyways it's not a big deal can you put party of 4 on the list, she then continues to argue about the over the phone reservation saying we been here for over 44 years and never did that aggressively and miserably again. I then started to give her the same tone back stating and I said okay I don't care about any of that I'm here with my family trying to make a reservation to eat and it seems like you busy trying to give me a hard time. The only woman then continues about the reservation and being disrespectful and begins to target my 4yr old daughter stating she cannot stand here she needs to move mind you there are many people in the same area and she stated she needs to see the entire party. I refuse to walk-in and have my underage kids standing outside alone. I then told her how about you put my reservation in instead of arguing with me so that I can step out the establishment. She continued to point her fingers at my daughter and make a big deal about her standing in front of me near the entrance and still doesn't put the reservation in and still having attitude. I then tell her AGAIN put my reservation in so that we can eat. Once again she continues to try to argue instead of having customer service and doing her job. I then state I don't know what the f is your problem but we just trying to eat. I have came here several times with the same party spending money and never had a problem or encountered someone here like you looking to be miserably entertained. I then stated that if she has a problem with seating us I could go to the other location and eat. She then replied I'm not putting you on the waiting list go to the other location. I asked to speak to the manager which she ignored to do for the first couple of minutes then sends a Chinese male out. I speak to the male and he asks me what happened and I explained and told him she shouldn't be working the front if she's overwhelmed and lacks customer service. As I explained to him she stated she's refusing to put us on the waiting list and to goto the other location she chimes in loudly and arguing she did not say that and I said that I was going to goto the other location. I told the manager see what I'm talking about she's doing everything else but her job and that's extremely rude and disrespectful and she's lying she knows what was said and I would be wrong if I was to slap her but she can talk to me however and pick on my 4yr old daughter and I'm suppose to just stand here and tolerate that? He says he understands but also siding with his employee who im pretty sure was a family member. She then brushes my arm so I shove my arm back into her arm and she began screaming and hollering don't push me! She's pushing me! I then stated she's obviously mentally unstable and not equipped mentally and emotionally to withstand this position. the male did my reservation and she had an attitude. I stepped out with my kids and sister where she continued to come out for the other reservations with attitude and being loud and aggressive on purpose so my sister lost her feel to eat at the establishment and we left.

Crowded but good eats

By Kimberly W |

Good food. They are a little heavy handed with the alcohol in their drinks but I like that. This place is always crowded and there is always a wait. I guess that's to be expected with a popular restaurant in New York City. My favorite meal is the Peruvian rotisserie chicken with chicken fried rice. A half chicken is served and the rice is about a half pint. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the desert menu is pretty much non existent. All they have is flan and milk shakes.

Pleasantly surprised

By walshsiobhan349 |

Many different cuisines are going on in this restaurant and surprisingly the mix of meals that we had were cooked to perfection. The reason for not giving 5 stars was we felt rushed to leave. Service was good.

Sumptuous

By Busdik |

Really really kind and approachable servers. Were the last table out yet they gladly waited for us. Ordered and devoured on delicious peruvian-chinese cuisine for late dinner. Totally worth it!

Get the Peruvian style roasted chicken, you won't regret it!

By Walking and exploring |

If you are looking for good food in a reasonably priced restaurant do not pass this one on Upper West Side. We are still amazed and remembering back the experience. Husband is going back to this restaurant during his next visit to NYC. This restaurant was originally recommended to us by an Argentinian friend. He said “everything is good” we decided to give it a try since it happened to be near our hotel. Busy crowded place on Thursday evening. They have an extensive menu for all tastes: Chinese, Peruvian and Spanish dishes. Since Peruvian/Spanish cuisine is closer to our taste buds we chose ½ chicken with yellow rice and then Ropa Vieja with Fries. The rotisserie chicken is so yummy – tender and juicy. The ropa vieja meat was tasty and the meat quality was good. Even though we tasted many things during our trip this restaurant was the best thing. Simply a little gem. Service was great and friendly and the waiter explained us about the food. People seemed to enjoy the atmosphere in this little restaurant, and it was perfect for our date night. What more can you wish! Your taste buds and your wallet will love this. By the way the same owners have two locations one on Amsterdam Avenue (where we went) and one at 2651 Broadway

Excellent Pollo special...

Excellent Pollo special with El Presidente.

Delicious Spanish and Chinese food..

By natlove007 |

Im a foodie and I was really impressed the service here but the food was Darn Good! I can't wait to return.

Peruvian roast chicken is THE dish to have - Pollo de la brasq

By Bibliogatta |

This is a Peruvian-Chino neighborhood place that makes succulent roast chicken that will knock your socks off. A plate of chicken with rice will cost around $12 - the portions are large and the food is very tasty. The fried bananas make a nice addition to the rice. Highly recommended for a delicious, filling meal that won't break the bank.

Great food, not the best service

By Veronica |

Although the bokchoy was great, we had an inconvenience with the server and manager. He mistakenly charged us extra for a dish we didn’t order and was really rude. Have mixed feelings about this place.

Wonderful as always

By sallemjazz |

Fairly cheap eat on the UWS, the pollo alla brasa is divine and the black beans fantastic. My favorite stop in the neighborhood after all these years.

Great value Peruvian in UWS

By RajahLove |

This is a great Peruvian place in the UWS. Delicious food, efficient and quick service from the staff, big portions, and good prices! Their spaghetti and fried rice are always great. I'm a fan!

Spur of the moment

By Destiny W |

Spur of the moment fun! It was fun because of the atmosphere but I wasn't at all impressed by the food and actually didn't even finish my meal. The drinks are pretty bland too. Wouldn't go back or recommend it

Finger licking good.

By chulis18 |

Great food ,there will be a wait for the table but you will NOT ne disappointed. Chinese Peruvian food is very good,I like the famous pollo a la brasa. Broiled shrimp in red sauce and lomo saltado, try it!

It's all about the chicken!

By PhilineV |

Yes, the place has an extensive menu. Make life easy - order the half chicken with green rice. You'll thank me, first when you get your meal, and then when you get your check! And the drinks are good too!

Ordered out

By Sharif Q |

I didn't actually go to this restaurant, we ordered food from it, which usually would not be something i would review, but my god it was good! The shrimp pad thai was insane! And the won ton soup, and the beef. The chicken was some of the best well spoces chicken i ever had. Look forward to actually go inside!

Good food, reasonably priced

By erikgjertsen |

Good food and nice atmosphere at very reasonable prices. I'm not familiar with Peruvian cuisine, so I have no idea how authentic those are, but can definitely recommend the Peruvian courses.

Best Lunch Special in Upper West Side

By Marcella F |

When I started working in the Upper West Side, It was hard to find a decent lunch special where the food and price would be good, Until I found Flor de Mayo. I enjoy having lunch at Flor de Mayo 3 to 4 times a week. I have tried most of the dishes on the lunch special, (Ropa Vieja, Pork Chop, Fried Chicken w/& w/out bones, pepper steak & pepper chicken. All of the mention fall under $10. All come with a salad and a side of Rice, Moro, Sweet Plantains, Tostones, Etc. Also all lunch special come with bread & Homemade chicken soup. I must agree with other reviewers, there are times where the service can be a tad lay back and don't check in on you as often as they should. Overall the Best Lunch in the Upper West Side.

Peruvian dishes mixed with Chinese dishes...Yum!

By diazuc |

Love, love, love Peruvian food. Therefore, my judgement and taste might not be similar to others...We went to Rosa de Mayo located 484 Amsterdam Ave. for lunch. I order the "lomo salteado with fried rice", my husband had the saturday special: Stew goat with arroz verde (green rice). Both servings were huge. Summary of the meal: it was midnight and husband was still talking about lunch at Flor de Mayo.

Something for everyone

By Ramona R |

Omg! Best place to come to if you’re not sure what your friends and family is in the mood for. You have a variety of Asian or Spanish food. From the bartender to the waiters they were the best company to have. Felt genuine.

This upper westside Chinese-Cuban stand-by never fails

By NYCBookMark |

Flor de Mayo on Broadway and 100th Street has been a stand-by in the neighborhood for decades, with an original sister restaurant on Amsterdam Avenue. The pollo ala brassa is done Peruvian-style on a rotisterie. Served with black beans and yellow rice, with a side of fried plantains, our family never tires of this dish. They are also a decent ceviche soaked in lime and cilantro which I like for lunch with the avocado salad. Ropa vieja is another family favorite, with its smoky tangy BBQ sauce. The waitstaff, some of whom have been there for decades, are polished and efficient. There may be a line for Sunday dinner, but it is worth the wait. They have a broad cocktail menu and icy cold beer in bottles. Finish off your meal with a cafe con leche and order of flan and you will be a happy camper. The prices are very affordable and you are likely to take some home because the portions are generous. Enjoy!

Spanish/ Chinese restaurant in business here for many years. They serve all the standard Chinese dishes you would find in a Chinese restaurant. A big plus here is the Peruvian chicken dishes which are fabulous & inexpensive. They also serve typical Spanish dishes found in Spanish / Portuguese restaurants. Full bar.

Great for take-out, but also popular for on-site dining, especially among those who don't mind its relatively small quarters. We especially like the rice and black beans, and the roasted chicken,

Son's birthday dinner with the toddlers

By Claudia N Barnes |

I arrived early on a Wednesday evening to meet my son with my grands and the girlfriend for his birthday dinner. I chose this restaurant because of the location and the simplicity of the menu. My grandson is 5 and not a fan of food. Everyone ate, even my grandson I started with a lovely cocktail, the nutcracker - one of my favorites The portions are large and delicious! Hmm the Peruvian chicken, chicken with broccoli, pork chops, and salads. I must try their fish next time.

Slam Dunk once again

By Anthoney P |

Was in the theatre district after a show and wanting to avoid crowds, my girl and I decided to go to where the food never fails. Flor De Mayo is a restaurant, that I have been going to, it seems like, forever. I had the half chicken with black beans and yellow rice with a side of sweet plaintains. My girl had the steak with onions along with red beans and yellow rice. Both of our dishes, like always, arrived to our tables fast and hot. Always satisfying. Other dishes I'm sure are delicious too. You will not be disappointed!

Worth the wait !

By Bluelake8213 |

Have been here twice and have waited both times. It seems to be the quality and price keeps this place packed to the gills . Once we were seated , we ordered and the food was delivered very quickly . My son had the Peruvian baked chicken dish which was super. My wife had a Peruvian streak and pasta & loved it!

love the food, at times...

By Wanderer59420 |

love the food, at times will drive there to bring back to pc.

2 great Peruvian dishes...

By Cihat A |

2 great Peruvian dishes: Lomo Saltado and Seco de Res. They are probably 2 of the best meals under $10 in Manhattan: filling and delicious. Lomo is in incredible mixture of very simple ingredients: beef, tomatoes, onions, fried potatoes, stirred with cilantro and one more thing, served on a bed of rice. Seco is basically a beef stew with a lot of cilantro. I dined here a lot when I lived in this neighborhood, I liked these 2 dishes so much I even ordered delivery to the Upper East Side a few times after I moved. The other dishes I tried were disappointing. (4* factoring in the price, of course Nobu is a better restaurant:)

Yummy Chicken a la braza --good energy!

By NewYorkRobbyf |

Good energy here- people seem to enjoy. Roast chicken was wonderful as was the sautéed vegetables and egg roll.

Great food and service

By Kirstie C |

Our family visited The Natural History Museum and left at dinner time. An employee recommended the restaurant as it was within walking distance. The menu had so many choices. All five of us found something delicious! The service was great too.

Chinese, Mexican and Peruvian food all in one restaurant

By Mermaid322 |

Such an eclectic menu will satisfy everyone in your party. Something for every taste. The "pollo a la brasa" is Chicken that is very juicy, flavorfull and delicious. Large portions, and they serve drinks also. Nice place to share dishes so you can taste a variety of food at one meal.

Consistently good at reasonable prices

By Trup |

I have been several times since I last reviewed this place --- sometimes it is too crowded to get seated promptly simply because it has become so popular. Nothing fancy --- just good food, good-sized portions and reasonable prices. Service is prompt and pleasant enough. At one of my visits (not the most recent one) I was sitting near a couple and he quickly recommended two or three of his favorite dishes. He told me he used to live on the Upper Westside but now lives in Brooklyn -- still, he and his wife come in from Brooklyn every week or two to eat supper there -- now THAT'S a recommendation!

Great meal for a reasonable price.

By stromboliforyou |

Loved this cute little Peruvian restaurant. The La Brasa Chicken with plantains and the Peruvian goulash were outstanding with prices that were very reasonable. I have no idea if the dishes were "authentic" recipes or not, but they were delicious!!

My my Mayo!

Great food with large portions. Busy local crowd. The half chicken and rice was great. Can handle groups.

Amazing food. Portions were big. We ordered Lomo Saltado and Fries Pork Chops. Staff friendly. All servers had face masks. Will come back soon.

Great Place

By CakeEater |

First off the food. Bro! I had chicken and plantains and man was it good. Best rotisserie chicken I’ve very had. The place had great ambience and I loved being there. Not a fancy joint but one that you feel very comfortable in. I found the service good and professional - some of the service staff were very friendly others not so much - but they were all good and I did not find them rude at all (contrary to some other reviews). Definitely coming back - I would be a regular if I lived in Manhattan.

All about the Super Nutcracker!

By Ed S |

My brother Matthew lives in NYC and is addicted to this place, so when my girlfriend and I were in town we had to visit. An amazing and eclectic mix of cuisine with something for everyone and some genuine taste experiences that left me wanting to return. Well worth a visit and if you are feeling brave and have nothing to do the next day, try the Super Nutcracker cocktail!! Good work FDM!

Peruvian-Chinese Food at affordable Prices

By PuertoRicoLOLA |

I drove from South Jersey to meet some friends on a Saturday afternoon. Our meeting place ...Flor de Mayo on Broadway. My friends were delayed and I sat at the bar and ordered a Pisco Sour and a shrimp cocktail. It was just great. My friends arrived and we were seated and placed our order. I did ask for the rosted chicken which is marinated with spices and much care. I also had a started... squid with black bean sauce. The texture was fantastic..but the sause a bit skimpy on the black beans. It need more black beans with the sauce. The amount of food is huge for the price. service is fast. One of my friends asked for thr breaded beef (Biftec empanado). It was not good..it was a breaded beef mixwd with some type of filler and then deep fried. My friend did not like it at all. He was expecting a nc for that order..so I do not know if it was included on the final bill of the afternoon.. I would go back as I have done for the past 10 years..just to try something new of their extensive menu. Easy on the pisco sour...

Great Eats

By The Reavis Group |

One of my fav in nyc. Brought a friend here for the first time. They fell in love with the place. The main reason was cuz of suzy our server. A1 Customer service &hospitality. The menu from top to bottom all good eats.

Great food but horrible drinks

By cindycardona |

The food is so good and very affordable. The drinks are gross. We went to celebrate my sisters graduation and my cousin ordered a fruity drink that tasted like a bottle of rubbing alcohol. She had to ask the waitress take back the drink and make it with less alcohol. When they brought her a new drink it was still too strong and she was driving so she just didn't drink it. Go but not for drinks

ASIAN CUBAN FUSION

By isablubelle |

It's a strange place, they do not take reservation, but you never wait too long. the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. they have a HUGE menu, so many things, south american and asian, that it is hard to decide. The food in general is good. The place is a bit noisy and crowded

Fujimori Experience

By Ptorresmx |

Peruvian meets chinese. Strange but good experience to taste from Rasted chicken to Chow main in a different style. Great ambience and delicious food

Lunch at Flor

By Nildia A |

The best Chinese and Peruvian food in all NYC. Everybody loves Flor. They also have the original and best nutcrackers in NYC. My favorite dish is the roasted chicken with shrimp fried rice. Yum delicious.

Fried bland rice

By Janice D |

I have been to this restaurant a few times, which is why I didn't hesitate to order beef fried rice and chicken chunks. The chicken chunks could have used more seasoning as you could only taste garlic. Not bad, but could have been better. My fried rice was an epic fail because it only had rice, egg and beef. Completely devoid of a white or green onion, scallion or bean sprout. Flavorless and that its for me.

B rated restaurant, failing grade for service and quality.

By Paris S |

Stopped by here for lunch in the middle of the week and usually, I don't go into restaurants with a B rating but I figured I'd try it. After we were seated, it took about 20 minutes before we could even order and thats because I had to be the one to call someone over. And then he says, oh he doesn't take orders but he'll take this one. Mind, you, there was hardly anyone eating at that time. After he takes the order the food comes relatively quickly, which normally, you might like but this was a little too fast. Of course, no drinks were brought over, not even any water so again, I had to call someone over to bring drinks. The food was average at best. I ordered the steak palomilla but I've never seen steak to be in the shape of a circle so that was odd. It came with average tasting rice and something they were trying to pass off as a salad, which was really just lettuce shredded to the size of confetti...not very good. Of course, no one came over to ask how we were doing, which to me, is one of the cardinal sins of customer service at a restaurant. Had to ask for the check. Overall, one of the worst service places I've ever been to. I could almost deal with the average food if the service was good but you almost want to say, really?? You bring me this below average to average tasting food and you have the nerve to offer no quality customer service at all?? All I know is, if I owned that restaurant, I'd have fired everybody in there, including the owner.

Great vibe; sangria; peruvian stew; chicken

By CACAtraveler |

This place is happening. Tried to get in on a Saturday night, but line was too long. Came back on Sunday and got to the bar. Great staff. Don't miss the sangria which is mixed in front of you with fresh fruit. Many choices for food. I had the Peruvian stew which was really tasty. I've had the rotisserie chicken before and that was awesome. Great experience whether your local or from out of town, like I was.

Instant Dinner Party--Takeout

By Travelinggirl785 |

On the spur of the moment I invited some out of town visitors to dinner in my apartment rather than going to a restaurant. With no time to prepare, I called Flor De Mayo and ordered two of their chickens and various rice, beans, plantains and salads. Food arrived in about 45 minutes---in a snowstorm!--piping hot and delicious. We had a wonderful cozy time at home instead of in an impersonal restaurant. Total bill $106---to feed six people! ( Wine supplied by me.) Where in NY can you do that? One tip: tell telephone order taker that you intend to pay by credit card, or else deliverer will expect cash, We negotiated that smoothly enough, but best to avoid.

Food is Delicious!

By PatGFL |

A very lively place with delicious food and drinks. The Sangria is awesome too. Best Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken I've tasted by far.

Absolutely delicious food!

By LennyDV |

We entered this restaurant because the fusion idea intrigued us and because the place always seemed packed. We were not disappointed: the food was amazing and the service was great. You do have to put up with a very busy atmosphere and with slightly higher prices, but it's worth it!

Best Chicken in NYC

By melanie w |

Recently had dinner and drinks here with friends while visiting the city. Hands down the most amazing food and friendly staff. Can not recommend this place enough, and the chicken in particular is outstanding . If you are looking for amazing food and massive portions this place is fantastic.☘️

A wonderful Peruvian/Chinese place on Upper West Side

By alec s |

Great place with terrific eclectic Peruvian/Chinese menu on Broadway on the Upper West Side. The drinks are stunning ! My favourite eats are the soup with chicken, or fish, and cilantro, also the potato ball just slightly spicy and delicious ! Their café con leche serves as a delicious dessert all on its own.

One of my all time favorites

By Kermit P |

Been going here for chicken dinner since the 80's. I still stop in every time I am in NYC. Best china-latina anywhere.

Good option for lunch in the UWS

By rbravo |

This neighborhood restaurant is a good option for a cheap lunch. I usually order 1/2 grilled with salad and rice. The orders are served quickly, the portions are generous, and the food tastes good. I recommend this restaurant if you happen to be in the UWS (Upper West Side).

Flor De Mayo 484 Amsterdam Ave NYC

By Zivasg |

While visiting the gentrified upper west side do not miss this very casual restaurant with excellent Chino Latino food as well as Peruvian food. We have been going to this restaurant for 40 years. The cocktails are awesome. Pay attention to this location though owned by the same family who owns the upper Broadway location. This one is a bit more accessible.

Always great food

By Marynyc2019 |

Order always to stay instead of To go . Food is delicious , authentic , staff is friendly and quick, always on top , they cook anything you want , big portions , great flavors , with family , couples, or friends even solo .im a local and always eat there. Try to go half hour before your plans. Highly recommend the Pina Colada from the bar ,

Great option

By Marie K |

We were looking for something along the line of Chinese, and this was suggested. It was good food, friendly service and the food came out quickly.

Great neighbourhood eatery

By CalgaryFour |

We were visiting NY and stopped by after a full day at the Natural History Museum. It was a Thursday eve round 6-6:30 and the place was packed. We order some wonton soup, two Chinese combination dishes, the 1/2 roast chicken with plantains, and the arroz verde con pallo. All dishes were great and servings sizes were good hearty sizes. Service was quick and courteous. Prices for the service, size and quality of food is reasonable.

A type of cuisine that exists only in New York and Florida

By Aleksey Igudesman |

Chinese Spanish (Cuban-Chinese) Cuisine. A type of cuisine that exists only in New York and Florida. Very original flavours. A very simple place. One of the branches does delivery – worth it! Fantastic and very cheap – most delicious cheap meal in N.Y. I know. Specialities: Peruvian Chicken, - must have. Plantanes (fried bananas), Yellow rice, Black beans Squid in blackbean sauce

Atmosphere worth visiting!

By Maitopossu |

Busy, friendly and charming place serving cuban-chinese food. Really tasty roasted chicken, lovely pork chops and chinese veggies. Ask for a recommendations and share the food with your friends. Highly recommended! Perfect with kids and groups/vouples of all ages.

Recent big disappointment

By Travelinggirl785 |

I notice reviews are several years old. My recent takeout order 0f scallops was inedible. I don't believe they were scallops. Some mystery fish which I literally threw out I am a local and this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Wonder what other recent experiences are.

Pleasantly Surprised...

By MRidley |

My significant other and I were doing a little shopping on the UWS and decided to find a place to eat. I love all the "brunch" spots on the UWS, but for dinner, where do you go? He said he knew of this Chinese/Spanish place on Broadway and 101st Street. I was hungry and didn't care at that point. First inpression, very crowded and small, but I was pleasantly surprised at the diverse clientele as well as the delicious dishes that were being served around us, as well as our own. Also, even though it was crowded, we had a pleasant conversation without loud talking around us and we could hear each other fine. The waitress was fantastic, was there whenever we looked up. Good prices and large portions.

Great food long wait

By CharBasc |

Loved the food but waited outside for 40 minutes because there was no room inside. Once we were called, though, the service and food was pretty good.

Great

By Ichaso17 |

This restaurant is an old standby in New York City, It has been there for many years and I have been going there since it originally opened. The best Chinese Latin food ever. I like the one on 100th St the best. The do a brisk business so the food is very fresh. They are serious about their food and their service. Lot of local people are there so that is very nice. Not a lot of tourist. Very consistent. I believe it is a must in New York City. Yeah Upper West Side

A NEW YORK MUST EAT!!!!

By Ernesto m |

If you have any friends or relatives from New York City that live in the five Boroughs and love food they will know about flor de mayo the home of the original NUTTCRACKER . Here Peruvian meets Chinese and then some the food is outstanding everything on the menu is worth it but if I have to pick my top favs they would be the pork chops or the fried pork chunks you can't go wrong.. So if you find your self in the upper westside stop by 101st and Broadway at Flor De Mayo have your self a drink a great meal...

Best Peruvian Chicken

By Anthony S |

This is a very good Spanish/Peruvian Chinese restaurant. It has all the tradition dishes. You should try the Pork Chops, Fish with black bean sauce, shrimps in lobster sauce combinations with roasted pork fried rice, Young Chow fried rice. I strongly recommend you order their Peruvian Roasted Chicken with fried rice and salad. It is out of this world. I will go back as many times if I am around upper West side of Manhattan.

Yummm!!!

By RyanT4 |

Just had a brilliant dinner here, wait staff were friendly and efficient, we all had the Chinese menu so can't review any of the other dishes but if they were half as good as the Chinese ones, they would have been delicious!! Very reasonably priced for a NY restaurant, good atmosphere and nice portion sizes. Definitely would recommend to any in the upper west side after some nice Chinese!!

Keep an eye on your bill and tip amount !

By McHaven |

Just want everyone to pay close attention to the menu and your bill. At the bottom of their menu it says "**** 15% gratuity added to party of 8+***** ". I've been there a few times with a party of no more than 4/5 and they ALWAYS add 15% gratuity, due to the fact they "unintentionally " write "22, 44, or 33 guests" when they process your order and gratuity is automatically added. The last two times I went I thought they made a mistake, I brought it up to them and they removed the 15% gratuity, no problem . The second time I went it was the same "mistake" with the same "excuse". I have told a few friends that I know go there and they realized they were being charged the 15% gratuity when they were only 2/3 party in the table. I feel everyone should be aware of this because it is not fair to us, as customers. Other than that, the lomo saltado is amazing ! :-)

Awesome food

By fortuneCorrea |

The food was awesome a little pricey but definetly worth it ! The drinks are amazing .. the spot was very busy but they managed to serve us on time and food was delicious ..

Tasty meals, large portions

By Irisjay |

Very much enjoyed our visit to Flor de Mayo. Wait staff were very friendly and the meals tasted good.

Dinner after work

By Lisa P |

My mom and I had dinner at Flor de Mayo last night around 7. It was packed. We waited five minutes for a table to become available. The restaurant is full of friends and family, and very lively. We ordered egg roll ($4 for one is expensive), fried plantains, lomo saltado, egg foo yung and special fried rice. All was very good as it always. Added to this, half a carafe of wine for $13 (excellent value). We will definitely be returning.

Great food, but be prepared to wait!

By anne l |

The food at Flor de Mayo was amazing and the ceviche is a must try! The restaurant itself isn't very big so you might have to wait around for quite a while before you get a table, especially if you're in a larger group. The atmosphere is great so go early, and enjoy a drink at the bar while you wait! Definitely a great stop if you're looking to avoid tourist traps.

BEST PERUVIAN CHICKEN

By Susan K |

This is a very busy Spanish and Chinese local restaurant with two locations on the Upper West side.Everyone has their favorite dishes but Pollo A LA Brasa ( Peruvian Special Chicken Whole for $11.50) brings the crowds of locals and people in the know to eagerly wait for a table). Typical diner could include yellow, brown, or white rice and red or black beans, Bok Choy with a sauce, sauteed or steamed($9.95), Roast Pork Chop Suey ($9.95) There is something for everyone on the menu starting with Bar- B-Q Spare Rib appetizer(10.95). I personally like to order the 1/2 Chicken with sweet plantains for $8.75. Request the house mustard as it is extra spicy and they also serve it with a hot sauce.Their menu is a mixture of Chinese and Spanish food. Both locations are opened Monday Thru Sunday 12:00 noon to 12 midnight. It has free delivery between 60thSt-125th St.They also have very reasonably priced lunch specials Monday to Saturday until 4:30pm except holidays.

Good place

By gotm10 |

I love their broiled pork chops and fried sweet plantains. A bit pricier than I expected but still a decent place.

Prices up, portions down, attitudes poor.

By Clifford K |

My family has been coming here for about 20 years. We recently went for lunch and found that all of the prices have gone up significantly. Additionally, the size of the portion of boneless chicken chunks was absurdly small. Same number of chunks, but each half the size of what the portion used to be. No longer a quality choice in the neighborhood.

One of the great cheap restaurants of all time. Try the pollo de brasa.

By Jonathan T |

One of the great cheap restaurants of all time. Try the pollo de brasa.

Excellent chicken! Fabulous homemade sangria! Good vibes.

By SundariDasi |

How can you pass up a "Casual Chinese-Peruvian dining experience?" Good service. Great food. Full service bar - martini anyone? Met a friend for early dinner. Was packed by the time we left at 8 pm. Very popular esp. on Mother's Day. This is where the "locals" eat (full disclosure - I live across the street.) Reasonably priced for what you get. We brought home lots of chicken, rice and broccoli. A whole chicken was too much by far for the two of us. We got the Peruvian chicken with yellow rice and black beans and American broccoli with garlic from the Chinese menu. And, of course, red sangria which is not to be missed!!! A peek into the flavor of the "old days" of the upper west side of Manhattan which is vanishing as I write.

Possibly the best of its kind

By Thorner H |

Chino Latino at its best. The Peruvian chicken is the fiinest roasted chicken I have ever had; moist, flavorful, and cook to perfection. The per patron table area is minimal, however well worth the sacrafice. Sometime you have to wait just a little to get a seat, again well worth the wait, your palate well be delightfully rewarded. The staff is absolutely gracious and accommodating.

Sastified my hunger

By JoamiArias |

Went with my friends after an 9AM Banger for St. Patricks Day. It was packed so the wait to get a table was around 15minute. They have lunch specials and their menu is easy to read. It is mainly Peruvian and Chinese food, with a hint of Dominican food. The have two locations, one in Amsterdam, and one on Broadway (this one) but apparently the this one has better service and the food tastes better. Good and quick service, food was delicious, and came quick. Love it

Delicious

By maxxpain29 |

This place has been around for as long as i can remember and they haven't missed a beat. The food is delicious! From your house special fried rice to your lomo salteado which is fantastic. The pollo ala brasa is a must have. The mixed drinks are good, my personal favorite is the red sangria. What more can i say IT'S DELICIOUS!

Great Food!

By Brittany N |

I visit Flor De Mayo everytime I find myself uptown. The food is great and the prices are pocketbook friendly. The place does get extremely crowded on weekends and for dinner. The staff tends to rush you, sometimes taking your plate away before you actually finish. Overall I definetly recommend this place, preferebly during lunch and off hours.

A wonderful dinner evening in Manhattan

By Ramon Neira |

We had a lovely mix of South american and Chinese dishes, including appetizers of yucca and fried sweet and toasted plantains, Peruvian shrimp ceviche, sliced Peruvian steak (lomo saltado), fried rice (one of the best I have had) and a delicious chicken kew. The food was exquisite, well prepared and tasty, and best of all- our waiter- Luis Alberto- was very knowledgeable in the dishes and described nicely what each one had, how it was prepared. He interpreted our latin favorite and made sure that we were looking for was what we ordered on the menu. Definitely next time I am in New York I will be back to this place for another nice meal.

Fun Place with Peruvian, Spanish and Chinese Food

By LPE22 |

Some locals told us to go here. We expected just Chinese food but liked the fact that it was a "mixed' kind of menu. My Peruvian rotisserie chicken and sweet plantains was tasty. It came with shredded lettuce and tomato and a salad dressing. My husband had egg drop soup and chop sue. he said they were OK, not great. we both enjoyed flan for dessert. The place was packed and had a festive air. the wait staff were polite and prompt.

Delicious for any occasion

By komeney |

Best mix of Asian and Cuban food. No matter what you try off of their menu, you won’t be disappointed.

Great food, great deal!

By parislover1224 |

Found this place thanks to Frommers and loved it! Great food- the chicken is fantastic and the plaintains are a party in your mouth! A must visit whenever I'm in New York. Also, an unbelievable value! It's off the beaten (tourist) path but it's worth it. Go before or after your visit to the Met, you won't be dissapointed!

Best of the Best for Chino/Latino in NYC!!

By Oneka J |

I've not lived in NYC for 20+ years...but, it will always be home. I come home each year, and when I do...the first, second and most stops in between lead me back to Flor De Mayo. FDM has been here on BWay for well over 30 years, and has been the restaurant my family and I have seen as our home away from home, and some of our best food memories. Flor De Mayo is one of the FEW remaining Chino/Latino spots in the 5 Boros...and it really is the BEST. You can't go wrong at either location (Bway and 101, or the Amsterdam and 84th). Bar none...our family favorites: Peruvian Roast Chicken (you'll dream about it...), Fried Pork Chops (I know the marinade secret...but, I ain't tellin), Rib (Eye) Steak and Garlic Shrimp. All of these can be served with your choice of Fried Rice, Yellow/White/Cilantro Rice, Black/Red/Pinto beans...and don't forget an order of Sweet Plantains. P.S. Always ask for the "Peruvian Chicken Hot Sauce" on the side and then put it on EVERYTHING. (You're welcome...thank me later.) We've had a few of the Chinese entrees, but usually default to the Latinx food because we love it so much. However, you can't go wrong with the ANYTHING on the menu. Note: Everybody in the neighborhood knows about FDM, so you may have a little bit of a wait...but, it's worth it. Enjoy a Nutcracker while you're waiting...it is the ORIGINAL. Start with a small one...(You're welcome...thank me later.) The waitstaff are gangster, and know how to get you in and out once you're seated...if that's important to you. FDM is home for me and my family. When you get there, ask for Nelson (owner) and tell him "Oneka (all the way from GA) sent me!"

Super tasty!

By celidelo |

Tasty dishes! Worth a try, although they did forget one of our friends when we already had received our food. But, when it comes to the food we had to say it was quite good. Nothing amazing, but you get a worthy meal for the price you have to pay.

Great Food, RUDE SERVICE!!!!!

By jeffrey m |

The only thing that keeps me from giving this a great review is the service. I had lunch there with a friend and as mentioned, the food was really good, nominally priced. The complete turn-off was the guy (who was not the server) who came by to give us the check. He was rude to the point of rushing us with hand gestures to hurry up. Mind you, this was during their non-rush hour and no one was waiting. I really wanted to not leave a tip but the person who actually served us was very attentive and i didnt want to stiff him. Beware.

Great Peruvian for cheap!

By Samuel M |

We've been to this restaurant on Manhattan's upper West side several times and the food never disappoints. It's gotten a little more expensive over the past few years, but what hasn't in this city. What hasn't changed is the quality and the super fast service. Plates are big enough to share for two normal eaters, but you'll have to do a couple ala carte add-ons to round out the meal. Worth it.

Wonderful lunch

By KarenG144 |

We arrived a few minutes before Flor de Mayo opened on a Sunday and a line was already forming; very much a neighborhood crowd with some large parties in the back. The fried wontons were fantastic. The fish kew was amazing and more Asian style (lots of vegetables), the seco (peruvian stew) was great. The meat and rice in the Lomo was very good, but I didn't understand or like the soggy french fries included in the dish. The flan was ok. It looked like the chicken many other diners, including the people next to us, ordered was great. Great place for lunch.

one of the last and only gets better

By richardallan2016 |

Fifty plus years ago on the upper, upper west side of Manhattan there were a slew of small Spanish/Chinese restaurants. They have all but disappeared. Flor de Mayo is one of the last and it is fantastic. Order from the Spanish side or Chinese side and you cannot go wrong. The service people are wonderful and they remember you from you previous visits. Crowded but the wait is worth while!!

Still Very Good!

By BigDubya |

When visiting relatives in NYC this restaurant is only a few blocks away, and a must do for us. We were just here for this years' visit. The restaurant is still as good as it was last year. The half chicken and rice dish is still my favorite and still at a great low price especially for NYC. They give you a choice of either yellow spanish rice or fried rice - I get the fried rice which is very good. Service is prompt. It does get loud because it is busy and popular. Even so, we've never had to wait long for a table. If you are in the area, give it a try.

Very good food and service!!!

By Wilmer O |

Went with my wife on Nov 29th, 2016. Food is affordable and tasty!!! We had a wonderful host/waitress: Susan, she was awesome!!! very well experience, we were not expecting such a good food!!! I'm not giving a 5 star just for one reason, that has to be with the management and not with the service: in the list of drinks/beverages states that prices might vary from the price on the menu and that you buy on your own risk. In my opinion, that's no way to do business, they need to think about what that means to their clients, means they can charge you whatever price they decide after you already drank what you ordered.

A stand out in a city of stand outs

Peru and China come together to provide an unexpected wonder that has brought us back and back and back. Roast chicken and plantains simple yet simply wonderful

what a combination

By jeffrey k |

entertaining combination of Chinese and Peruvian cuisines. staff friendly. good presentation, large portions. be aware that your meal might not fit well on the table. we looked around us at other diners, what they were eating, and everything looked so delicious. come with a big appetite.

Fantasic "peruvian" chicken.

By Red R |

My wife and I have eaten here (always crowded and noisy!) and also order regularly for home delivery (quiet!). Their whole Peruvian chicken is outstanding. Perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. Add a side of cilantro rice and a vegetable and you've got a great meal that will also last for the next days lunch (and even dinner again!). Price-wise, for the amount and quality of food, it's a bargain.

Good fast food

By Jaclyn M |

It's not as good as the first time I ate here several years ago but it's still good for a quick meal. Decently priced and good sized portions.

Great Take Out

By mehtravels |

Awesome Menu and great take out and delivery service. A real deal for lunch. The liver and onions is one of my favorites and with black beans and rice and plantains - mmm mm good

Amazing chicken!

By dancinggoats |

Restaurant is small and noisy, but food is excellent. They advertise that the chicken is like nothing you have ever tasted, and they are right. Do not pass it by. Tender, moist and a unique and superb flavor. And the squid ink fried rice is amazing. And if you are into Ceviche, this was like I used to get in Guatamala--fresh, citrus flavor, spicy but not too much. Really refreshing. Tables are a bit close and it comes across as a diner. The menu posted up front comes across as a Peruvian restaurant, which they do serve, but menu is huge and mostly Asian. Was a bit of a surprise, but overall a pleasant one. Food was served quickly but was flavorful and overall enjoyable. Worth a try.

Could be alot better.

Recently had dinner there. Food- a touch on the bland side. Was ok but definitely nothing to write home about. Oh there also have a surcharge for groups of 4 or more- how wrong!
