5 out of 5. Food, ambiance, service. Will definitely go back. We had a wonderful late lunch with my daughter after walking in central park and visiting The Met

Our extended family dined at Gabriel's this past Friday evening. There were 10 of us, so we were able to get a more private dining area, which was PERFECT! This was the most outstanding dining experience I've had in NYC. Food, drinks, service, ambiance, everything was absolutely outstanding. You can tell when an owner and staff really care for their patrons and Gabriel's did just that. After receiving our drinks, we sampled the Meatball appetizer...excellent. Everyone really enjoyed their entrees. My pappardelle was simple and delicious. The Squash Ravioli was excellent. My wife's Short Rib entree melt in my mouth (yes, I tried some of hers). Portion sizes were such that some took home part of their meals for later enjoyment. All in all, Gabriel's was an incredible experience for us and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for an upscale Italian dining experience.

I had dinner at Gabriel's last evening with my family before a performance. The hospitality and service were great. The menu is classic Italian. I had mezzaluna pasta after a first course of burrata. We drank a simple Orvieto white with dinner. The wine list is very reasonable with a broad selection. This place is becoming my "go to" spot when I visit Lincoln Center . Ciao!

they offer a variety of dishes from Italian cuisine. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a spacious dining room and a charming outdoor patio. The service is friendly and attentive, and the food is delicious and well-presented. Some of the highlights include the homemade pasta, the fresh seafood and the tiramisu. Gabriel's Bar and Restaurant is a great place to enjoy a romantic dinner or a casual lunch with friends or family.

A mixed review. The food was excellent. We got the meatballs for our appetizer & the pasta & braised beef for our main courses & the flavors , presentation & taste were exceptional. A 5-star rating for the food. The wait staff were inattentive. They brought me the wrong drink to start (gin & tonic when I asked for gin on the rocks (no tonic in that order)). They apologized & corrected it, but even I asked he still sounded confused as to what I was asking for. I did get the correct drink in the end. When I ordered my meal I asked for a glass of red wine to come with it. Since our waiter didn’t come over to check on our meals after we got them until we were almost finished eating, I asked him to just remove the wine from the bill since I never got it. He did bring me a glass (& said he still took it off the bill). I’d definitely eat here again for the food, but know I need to pay attention to the waitstaff a little more.

We stayed next door at the Ritz Carlton and they recommended Gabriel’s. Unfortunately the service was very bad and it took a ridiculous amount of time for the food to come out. We ordered two pastas after our appetizer around 11:30am Sunday and when it became a long wait we asked how much longer it would take. The waiter then went to the manager who was busy sitting at the bar and it seemed like they forgot to tell the kitchen to make it. No apologies, no explanations just more waiting. Meanwhile the manager is telling his friends who are sitting at the bar about attending a concert until 5 am and how hungover he is. We can hear him since there weren’t many people there at the time. It’s incredibly disappointing that no one seemed to care that we were there without any food for a long time. We asked for bread and it got delivered with no bread plates (which we had to ask for). In retrospect we should have canceled the food since it took so long and we were being treated like we didn’t matter. I regret taking the advice from our hotel to visit this place. I would never recommend it to anyone and we will definitely not be back.

A perfect experience, the food is outstanding, I had the Branzino my spouse had the rib eye steak, both were perfect, we started with grilled shrimp salad and experienced the best shrimps since our visit in southern Portugal. Restaurant is nicely decorated and spacious ideal for a great dinner were you want to hear each other and not just terrible noise. Service was efficient and very friendly including a super wine recommendation.

Lunch near Central Park on the West Side can be eaten in tons of locations. But, for a convenient, quiet, low-keyed Italian restaurant, Gabriel's cannot be beaten. In the same location for 27 years, this restaurant has a moderate luncheon menu, but be certain to ask for the specials … soft-shell crab was available today. Tremendously well-prepared, following a pasta appetizer, this was a great meal. my colleague had the salmon which was equally enjoyable. The service is unhurried, the deserts are large and tasty. This is a great location for a quiet business lunch, where one will not be disturbed.

A notice in the window of this closed location states that after 29 years the restaurant is moving. See photo of the notice. No new location is mentioned. This is a sad loss with a glimmer of hope for the future.

I like to think of myself as an educated tourist. So when I tell you I selected Gabriels for a pre-opera dinner and that I wore a tree green pull over shirt with khakis, you can kind of connect the dots. We got there at 5:30 with a reservation. The place was pretty quiet, so the hostess took us to a table but also said we could sit wherever we liked. Now the waiter, he was a little different then what I’m used to. One of those short 4 days growth beards. Or did he forget to shave? And in his best Brooklyn accent he said “Can I get yous something to drink”. It was just funny. But he was a good waiter. Rattled off about 5 specials of the evening, took our order and then sauntered off. Looking around at the place, its done well. Everything from the service to the tables to the ambiance to the food is done at a respectable and high level. Solid would be a good way to describe it. The restaurant slowly filled up as we ate. I had some soup and then the lasagna. We wife had calamari? and salmon. Both meals were good. Not earth shattering. Portions were respectable with plenty of room for dessert if we had wanted it. We were served by a variety of people. One guy was water, one appetizers, and one entrees. So the place has a team atmosphere. I liked it. 65 dollars per person, with a mixed drink and bottled water. Overall a good start to a great night.

I dined at Gabriel's Friday, June 24, with a group of 10. Entrees included Tagliatelle Bolognese, Ravioli Zucca, Costolette di Agnello, and the daily special which was sole. Everyone raved about their meals! We will be back!

Tortellini with mushroom ragout though heavy and not that tasty . Margaritas exceptionally good. Service excellent

Gabriel's has been at its Columbus Circle location before the Time Warner building or the Trump Hotel had even opened just across the street from Time Warner. It has consistently performed as a very good restaurant, whether for lunch or dinner. Our last lunch there with friends proved it once again. In a fairly quiet, yet friendly, atmosphere, the service was attentive and the food was very good. The seared red snapper was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. It came with sauteed spinach that was cooked very well, too Our friends really enjoyed the grilled salmon and the tagliatelli with pancetta bolognese.

Footsteps from Jean Georges, Avoce and Per Se (we've been to them all), Gabriel's delivers year after year and surpasses them all. Gabriel himself is always there. And that says it all. Who is the chef anyway? It doesn't matter because Gabriel's isn't about some egotistical chef. It's about wonderful food, great service and an evening that feels like being at home but not quite. We arrived at 6:00 on a Saturday night, expecting to find a quiet if not empty restaurant. Wrong. It was packed with patrons already having an enjoyable evening, some rushing off to theatre or ballet afterwards, some, like is, just there to enjoy a wonderful meal. A couple arrived with a baby carriage and a toddler. They, too, fit right in. This is still my absolute favorite restaurant in New York. Go. You'll see why.

Wonderful service accompanies a truly great meal. We enjoyed every bite of the home made pasta, salad, wine.....all yummy. Nice location, great atmosphere. I definitely recommend this place to even expereinced travelers. This is not chain food.

My wife and I have eaten here three-four times when we're in NYC. We were disappointed this last time for where we seated (near the kitchen) when there were so many tables available. See pics. What is it about restaurants wanting to seat women near the kitchen? Our server (Emmaline) was good. The beat salad. the gnocci, the short ribs, and the special pasta were good. My sister's Caesar salad was anemic and flavorless at $25. This restaurant is too expensive to be any less than exquisite on all accounts.

Horrible food, terrible coctails, outrageous service from the owner (not the son). I do not want to spend anymore words on this so called restaurant, just don’t go there.

I went there with a couple of friends for a late drink. We were looking for a quiet bar to catch up. This place was perfect, we sat at the bar. They have a nice cocktail list. There was almost no one there (it was late though) and they were playing some good jazz music.

We bought the Thanksgiving Brunch to have good views of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and everything that was promised was FALSE. They were NOT on the route to the parade but next to the RITZ which was on the route. By the time we went to see the parade; there were 30 rows deep and views were horrible. They told us the viewing was ONLY if you had the access pass but there were several people that were there without a pass and just walked through with no issues. The brunch food was overall good but they were limiting in the offering, it was buffet and they only refreshed the food until about 10/10:30. There were people who came in after they watched the parade to find scraps of food left. The advertising also said that it was UNLIMITED COCKTAILS. Another thing NOT TRUE. They offered white wine, red wine, Mimosas and Bloody Mary's. Anything else was charged. This was ridiculous because it was not listed as such. NEXT was they promoted TVs in each room to watch the Parade. This was also NOT TRUE. They had 2 TVs and only one showing the parade. LASTLY, at 11:30 were told by a VERY RUDE manager in a red sweater vest that the brunch was over and we needed to leave. We said the parade was not over and he said we needed to leave because they had another event. This brunch was over $500 for a 4 hr brunch that advertised things we did not get. I will NEVER go there again and want people to realize that they scam you for what you get. I will be posting this review so as many people see this as possible. It was that BAD!!!

This spot is great to chill with family or friends honestly and enjoy the midtown view - last month though I went for a casual brunch with my parents and loved the pasta as well as a bite out of my dad’s burger. Wish I remembered the name of this specific burger they sell but they said it’s their signature one -only offered during lunch time and dinner time they mentioned for some reason lol Anyway service was good, the waiter clearly made great recommendations since we were full and happy - lastly their espresso by itself or cappuccino if you want something that tastes sweeter is amazing

I like Gabriel's. I am not a regular, but have been there many times, both at the CPS location and the old UWS location. My recent visit was a huge disappointment. The food was OK, but the service was inexcusably bad. Inattentive, to say the least. The waiter servicing drinks managed to get every drink wrong, even putting a glass of wine in front of one person who already had a full glass in front of them while two others at the table had nothing. As for the food service, it was the same story...given 6 chances to get it right, the waiter scored 0 out of 6. Every single dish was put in front of the wrong person. Not what you would expect from a top-end, expensive restaurant. It didn't help that waiters (who paid no attention to us) kept pushing past our table to get to the tables outside on the street. Getting the attention of our waiter, or any waiter for that matter, even when looking for the bill, was ridiculously difficult. Perhaps we made a mistake...we normally eat at a table by the front windows, close to the bar, so we can watch the passing scene. But this night, although the interior room of the restaurant appeared uncrowded, the bar was mobbed and the noise level was deafening. Perhaps that explains why the waiters were overwhelmed. But that's still not an excuse.

Walked past this place countless times and never noticed it until a friend recommended it. From the outside it looks awful, but inside it is great. Comfortable seating and friendly waiters - solid menu with authentic, fresh dishes and well balanced wine list. Ideal for a casual Italian with no-frills but lots of good flavours and generous portions.

Extremely expensive and nothing special. Service was slow. Charged for two bottles of water when we never asked for another bottle and actually declined being topped up. No wonder the restaurant was empty. Perhaps we are just spoilt for choice in Scotland, but have to say that this meal was extremely inferior to anything I’ve tasted at any Italian in Scotland! Awful! Avoid

Great service, nothing to complain about in that department, but Just taken aback a little bit that after spending $174 for a bottle of wine and almost $300 for dinner for 2, we weren't even offered our $25 dessert as complimentary. Furthermore, a 20% tip was automatically charged to the bill! What if I wasn't happy with the service? Do I have a choice? Whenever we go to Sandro's, or Tiramisu, or Elio's we always get a little something on the house, whether a shot of grappa, or maybe an amaretto cookie, or a dessert. Even if it's already included in the total price, it's always nice for an establishment to show they appreciate your patronage, especially after spending almost $500 for 2 people. It makes the restaurant owners just look like they're a bit "pezzenti" or "mort'de fame." Just my 2 cents.

I went to Gabriel's with 2 other business people it was the worst meal I have had in years for a restaurant of that caliber. It's over priced for nothing better then diner food. The Cesar salad was bland and tasteless. The main course which the waiter raved about short ribs was swimming in sauce that looked like oil and was nauseating so I sent it back and they replaced it with rubbery steak that was very chewy. I didn't want to make a scene there so I called the establishment and talked to the manager who was very rude and condescending and when I explained to him about the meal he told me to go F---k myself. How Rude! If you go there at these prices beware.

We went for dinner after a performance at Lincoln Center. We had a very comfortable table, in the back with a banquette. Service was wonderful, very attentive, but not intrusive. We shared several courses, and the staff divided everything for us, prior to serving. Keep in mind portions are plentiful! We recommend the duck ragu, the mussels, the special salad.

This is a must go restaurant. Lamb chops are tremendous, the burrata is memorable and the desserts are unforgettable. Simply a must go. Not too loud and the owner is a lovely chap

Right in Columbus Circle. Price high but for a special dinner or business, good spot. The Burrata-- excellent as a appetizer. The pasta special-- shrimp/lobster was ok. The Tiramisu-- excellent. I will go back just for these 2 items-- Burrata and Tiramisu but to balance out the meal will try the roasted marinated beets.

We ordered soup and were waiting for the waiter to come back to order more but he didn’t. Soup was ok nothing special. We have to track đown another waiter to get our bill. Terrible customer service and I would not recommend

Very comfortable place on a windy & rainy night. A warm welcome, great menu with excellent food. First class service. Meals never vary from first rate. We have done lunch, but today we had dinner which was great. NYC prices next to the Time Warner Center at Columbus circle.

We made reservations through OpenTable few days in advance for Saturday night before the Opera and the only slot open was 7pm. We were warmly welcomed by Mr Gabriel himself and promptly showed us to our table #32. We were very fortunate to have Gabriel Jr as our server: he was very hospitable, friendly, professional. The female Chef is outstanding: congratulations to a well designed menu & flavorful meals. As we were pressed for time before the Opera, we had only a Burrata for the table (it was one of the best we all have ever had, comparable perhaps to the ones near our home in Italy or in the marvelous towns in Sardegna). Our dishes (and highly recommend each one): the “Kid” goat, the pasta with Duck ragú (they accommodated my GF request), and from the specials the Sword Fish and the Pork chops. Great presentation & flavors. We paired the meal with a Tuscan wine: Carmignano 2012 Villa di Capezzana from their well crafted wine list. A dish of gelato with the names of the two celebrating their birthday was presented to the table: a very nice touch. Expressos to finish a delicious meal in a beautiful ambience (with roses on the table). We called a couple days later to speak with the owner to discuss an issue with the bill, and we really appreciated his promptness resolving it. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Probably the best dining experience I’ve ever had! The ambiance was stunning - the lighting, the seating, the bar, and the art!!! Not to mention the staff was SO lovely and location is superb with a perfect view of Central Park. We were greeted by Gabriel (the owner) with a friendly handshake welcoming me into the restaurant. Our waiter was amazing as well - guiding me towards gluten free options and encouraging the delicious specials. YOU MUST GET the truffle risotto !! All around 5 star experience and I can’t wait to come back. I wish I could give more stars!! Don’t skimp out on dessert

Gabriel's was an unforgettable dining experience for my family and me. The lamb chops were simply extraordinary, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, great decor. and the service was impeccable, i had theo he was so funny. Gabriel's is a must-visit for anyone looking for a top-notch meal in a upscale manhattan- close to the park setting. Highly recommended!

100% worth the three short block walk from Lincoln Center for an early dinner after a matinee at the Metrpolitan Opera. Great service! The bartender and servers were courteous, accommodating and very professional. They gave us plenty of alone time to enjoy a drink at the bar and a nice, relaxing, couples dinner. They hit every checkbox as far as service is concerned. The food was OUTSTANDING! We shared a Caesar salad and had the branzino and the tagliatelle bolognese. Everything was amazingly delicious! Perfectly timed and cooked to perfection. There was very little leftover to be sure. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NYC.

We enjoyed the food, the ambiance, the entire experience. As others have written, there is a good vibe, not too loud but busy enough to feel exciting. Will return.

Less than a block off of Columbus Circle, it’s a classic New York bistro. Lively but not loud. Romantic, but it doesn’t take itself too seriously. Terrific cocktail menu. Try the Melon Hemingway. Highly recommend.

This is a must stop when in NYC!!! Wonderful hostess!! We stopped in tonight 12/30 and the hostess was truly a gem! We also met the owner and he as a gentleman! We definitely will be back as we felt right at home when at Gabriel’s!! Beautiful atmosphere ❤️

This is a very nice warm place. Kind of luxury place also romantic in front Central Park Food is good affordable with menu options Dessert and pastas a must eat

During all my visits they accepted my subscriber card of the NY Philharmonics to get a 10% rebate on the check, but this time I was told that this will not apply, because the NY Phil. have no performance in August! That is kind of ridiculous. Probably next they will only accept it on the exact day they perform. This is against the rules for restaurants mentioned by NYPhil. Unfortunately the restaurant did not reply to my mail. Nevertheless the food is very good here and location is easy to reach visiting the NYPhil or not.

right above times square is a gem...no bright lights but a shining star of a restaurant a simple elegant place with excellent food, atmosphere and attention

We found this gem of a bar/restaurant and visited five or six times. We had brunch, lunch, dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff very professional and friendly. Eddie provided excellent service and Gabriel the owner is so welcoming and friendly and has time for everyone. The food was out of this world - particular mentions are Ravioli Zucca and the Brasato di Costolette di Manzo (short ribs to die for). The bomboloni (Italian doughnuts with chocolate and caramel sauces) is one of the best desserts I’ve had! We would definitely recommend this place. It’s in an excellent location opposite Central Park.

Decor, Service, Food are all superior. Hint: If you want a very quiet dining experience ask for a table in the room at the back of the main dining room.

Convenient location for a show we were seeing at Lincoln Center. Food was wonderful if slightly costly. Wines very reasonably priced. But it was our waiter, Luciano, who made the meal. Amazing how one person's personality can color an experience but we will be sure to request him as our waiter when we return.

The food was great. The wine list is good. The service was very professional. They were good with my gluten-free diet.

Very well located, old stand by has been there for a good 12 yrs plus/ Very decent food. Excellent if pricey wine list.

When Handsome Companion's oldest sister and her husband called to say they were coming to town from the West Coast for their 50th wedding anniversary and asked if we would meet them for dinner on Saturday night, H.C had barely hung up the phone before I was on Open Table reserving a table for 4 at Gabriel's. After a short walk in what should have been a warm spring evening (where IS spring this year?), we ducked into Gabriel's and settled in at a table towards the back with a good view of the front of the restaurant and the bar. SIL and BIL were right on time, and though H.C. jumped up to greet them, Gabriel himself was already walking them back to the table, having found out, in that short amount of time, that we were having a sort of mini family reunion. What I had not realized was that my BIL, in one of the incarnations of his successful career, had worked near Gabriel's and had considered it his executive dining room. So, he knew Gabriel's and Gabriel remembered him. Our waiter arrived within moments and got the drink order while we studied our menus. We ordered, for appetizers, a Caesar Salad (classic), two burratas (in a warm tomato broth, with Vidalia onion jam and basil oil) and the Roasted Marinated Beets (with cauliflower puree, toasted pine nuts, red sorrel and goat cheese). All served on white plates and bowls of various shapes, they were first, a feast for the eyes, and, second, the stomach. During the lull between courses, I realized that EVERY table in the restaurant was filled. Yet, it wasn’t noisy or hectic. There wasn't an empty seat, and every patron looked engaged and content. No mean feat, that! After a nice interlude, our dinners arrived; pappardelle for H.C (with duck ragu, porcini mushrooms, black olives and tomato sauce), tagliatelle with assorted seafood for BIL, Scottish salmon for SIL (over Israeli couscous with green tomato and blood orange sauce) and the grilled veal chop special (with polenta and spinach) for me. Every dish was perfectly executed, beautifully plated, and served hot; not a miss or misstep. My veal chop, half of which came home with me, was exquisite; grilled perfectly and simply delicious, as were the creamy polenta and the spinach. SIL opted for dessert; a dish of ice creams, with a fan wafer. It looked wonderful. Gabriel himself moves about, from the front, to the tables, to the bar, to the back, overseeing, correcting, maintaining, over and over again. He must walk many miles in a night. But that is what makes the restaurant work so well. He is overseeing every aspect of the experience. And the beauty of Gabriel’s is that they do it night after night, without fuss or flair or pretense. It is a no miss every single time.

Gabriel's never disappoints- fresh Italian ingredients, quick service. The ravioli stuffed with squash is my favorite, with the Burrata a close second. Perfect for a pre-theater meal. Quiet. Expensive.

We came here after attending a play at Lincoln Center. I hate going out for New Year's Eve, but this was a perfect choice. It was decorated just enough to make for a festive occasion. It was relatively quiet and the food was sublime. The service was attentive without being overbearing. It is not cheap but worth splurging for.

Stopped for lunch. Had a special menu "restaurant week" with 5 appetizers and 5 entrees. With that said, very good and wide selection of choices. Really enjoyed the photos on the wall and general appearance of restaurant. Wait staff was friendly, prompt and helpful. Meal was presented well. Food was wonderful. Only complaint was portions were a tad small (I'm a large guy), but for lunch, it was ideal for us.

Attending the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but Gabriel’s completely misrepresented what they offered. Their Eventbrite listing promised an up-close parade view, yet the restaurant is not on the parade route, and we were seated in the back with no windows, watching the parade on a TV. I had booked a private table for two but was placed at a shared table with eight strangers, despite an empty two-top being available. Staff insisted they had to follow a seating chart and offered no real solution. The brunch was mediocre—far from the “4-star” experience advertised. I left disappointed and felt misled.

Went to Gabriels with family from California. Very disappointed, portions were small and prices high. However, the worse part was our waiter. Rude and obviously wishing he was somewhere else. A simple question, can I get tomatoes on my Caesar salad was met with "why do you think I am here, just tell me what you want". Rather than getting upset and risking a surprise in my salad I simply ordered it as I wanted it. We would not go back or recommend Gabriels. Lunch for 4 was over $175.00 plus tip anmdworth half that amount.

Reservations recommended. The atmosphere was buzzing with voices and clinking glass. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and some were celebrating the holidays with friends/co-workers. Menu was accommodating and our server Luciano B. was a highlight of the evening. Plates were a bit pricey, but the food was still very good. We celebrated with a bottle of champagne while watching gleaming smiles from patrons enjoying the cozy moments of the holidays.

We ALL LOVED THE FOOD!! Veal Milanese was fantastic and the gnocchi the best we’ve ever had! All the pastas were delicious! We will be back!!

I've been going to Gabriel's for over 20 years and until recently it's been a lovely place to dine, with very good food and a welcoming host. But in the last two years the food had become blah and the staff so hectic that it's either hard to get service or they hover over you before you're finished. Also, during the last 5 years there are now much better alternatives in the Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center area. I tried it again the other night and I won't be back to Gabriels.

Handsome Companion found himself in Manhattan at the end of the day. Rather than sit in traffic, he invited me to join him at Gabriel’s for an early dinner. I was delighted and looked forward to it all afternoon. We arrived at 5:45, a bit early for our 6:00 p.m. reservation. We were shown to a comfortable table for four along the wall in the back. I allowed myself to breathe out, exhale the stress of the day, and settle in for another perfect evening at Gabriel’s. Handsome Companion ordered a glass of Brunello for me and a Chianti for himself. The Brunello was deep, rich and thick, and I sipped it, letting the cares of the day fade. There is something so utterly comfortable about dining at Gabriel’s. The tables are well-spaced, the lighting is soothing, the waiters are caring and professional, and then there is the food. My Caesar Salad was excellent, crisp romaine lettuce, a light dressing, and plenty of shaved Pecorino Romano. H.C. had the roasted, marinated beets with goat cheese. It was delicious. We finished our appetizers and sipped our wines as the dining room filled with couples and friends and families coming in from work or on their way to a show. For his main course, Handsome Companion chose the lasagna, a special, and it is. At Gabriel’s, the lasagna is deconstructed, a large square of two sheets of fresh pasta with meat sauce, cheese and bechamel. It is so rich and so utterly delicious. I had a risotto con funghi, a creamy plate of Arborio rice with several kinds of wild mushrooms, topped with fresh, grated cheese. It was fabulous. I make risotto. Mine is never this creamy. I ate half and brought the rest home to enjoy the next night. It was not as creamy but was nonetheless delicious. Gabriel’s remains one of my absolute favorites.

What a wonderful family owned Italian restaurant. From the time we walked in to the time we left the service was top notch. Amazing food, wine and after dinner drinks.

We dine there frequently on a Saturday evening. The service, the wine selection, and the food are always very good. This restaurant has a friendly atmosphere. The wait staff is knowledgeable and attentive to details and requests. The food is fresh and well-prepared and the portions are good.

Very nice restaurant. We were greeted by Gabriel himself who led us to a great table. Our meals as well as the service were excellent. We will be back. We would call this fine casual dining.

Went to a business meeting last night and the bonus was a lovely dinner in a marvelous setting. As I was a late arrival, as soon as I sat down, a smiling waiter immediately came over to ask me if he could bring me a drink. Without looking at a wine list, I told him I'd like a "nice" Pinot Grigot. Less than 5 minutes later he put a glass in front of me and it was the best PG I've had in ages. Food was spot on as well. Wait was impressive is that several people covered our table. It's not about who's assigned to one table, they just all seem to be monitoring tables and stopping to make sure they can get you whatever you may need. Their price points were reasonable considering their prime location, right across the street from Jazz at Lincoln Center. I see why owner Gabriel Aiello has been in business for 26 years! We look forward to returning. Grazie Mille Gabriel and your staff for pure dining pleasure!

We were seated right away at 7:15 on a Friday night. We had a good waiter, very attentive and informative. I enjoyed my appetizer and so did my son. My husband ordered the $62.00 lamb chop, it was very good. We were told it was their signature dish. I had the muscles for appetizer and short ribs. Nice portions not too big not too small. The three of us had a great time there. Tiramisu was excellent too. Highly recommended.

Gabriel's Restaurant at Columbus Circle is a great place to eat if you enjoy fine food, served by expert, friendly staff in a sophisticated atmosphere. You may observe famous people there but don't let that put you off an excellent meal.

What I appreciate is that Gabriel's is usually busy, but still quiet enough to have a conversation. The food is well-prepared, classic, and presented nicely. The waitstaff is excellent. I've been there multiple times and it is reliable for a somewhat special occasion or pre-concert dining.

I went to gabriel's with my family on a saturday night. First of all , as soon as we sat , someone came to give us water and bread. We informed the waitress that we were short on time and she immediatly told us what meal not to take because of the time of making. We all ordered different pasta, and they were excellent !! Our too short dinner at Gabriel's lasted 45 min , but next time we will for sure stay and enjoy longer this very good restaurant.

Great food in smart place but really let down by the staff lounging around on the bar, eating, scrolling through their phones and chatting to each other.

Had lunch with a friend here after being recommended to visit. We met for lunch and chose from the set menu. The food was excellent, great atmosphere, as was the service.

One evening in July, we were invited to this restaurant, with high expectations indeed. Unfortunately, I must say that despite the very good service, the food was disappointing. The quality was low considering the cost and the type of restaurant. I hope it was just an unfortunate choice from the menu, and maybe I’ll give it another try and change my mind.

a long standing west side delight has moved to central park south he has left no corner untouched and the place is so beautiful whether you are a bar person or a table person the staff from the previous location have returned and they provide excellent service , hospitality to make all feel part of the gabe family the food continues with some of the old favorites and some new incredible additions no single stregnth great apps, main course and deserts....and wine menu if excellent as well well worth making a reservation in advance to make sure you have a seat

The Beat Northern Italian food in NYC. The service is always the best and the atmosphere is not stuffy at all yet very elegant. Amazing wine list and pairing. Also a great restaurant for kids to join in on a special night out.

Gabriel's Bar and Restaurant was the perfect dining experience to enjoy during our visit to NYC! The restaurant is stunning with a classic and welcoming atmosphere. Each appetizer, entree, and dessert was spectacular! The view of Central Park is stunning. The staff was professional and attentive to our dining experience. Drinks at the bar were the perfect way to cap the evening after a Broadway show. We tell all of our friends about Gabriel's and will be back to dine again on our next visit!

I had such a wonderful time dining at Gabriel’s. It was so lovely to learn that the restaurant is not only owned but also run by Gabriel’s family, and he himself was very kind. I thought I would stop by and grab a drink; which I might add, they have amazing house cocktails. But when I saw someone else’s food I decided I had to grab a bite. I recommend the short ribs, a delectable bite that has been marinated in a Barolo glaze and paired beautifully with polenta and mushrooms. I also had my waiter, Theodore, recommend a dessert for me, he brought out the Bomboloni’s which was very creatively plated and a perfect way to end my wonderful meal!

This place has it all! We met two other couples here on a Friday night for drinks and dinner. We started with a few appetizers: Mussels, Grilled Calamari and Burrata (my first time and my new favorite). For dinner we had the Scottish Salmon, Risotto del Giorno, Kid Arrabiato and Short Ribs. All were fresh, served hot and nice sized portions. For dessert we split the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake (with toasted marshmallow and raspberry sauce!) and a Pecan Crostata. Both were out of this world. I look forward to coming back here in the future.

I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but our experience at Gabriel’s was genuinely frustrating. From the start, the service was slow, inattentive, and borderline rude. The wait staff repeatedly missed our requests, ignored the table for long stretches, and made the overall experience feel dismissive and unwelcoming. What really pushed this over the edge was the automatic 20% gratuity that was added to our bill — with zero notice. • There were no signs posted in the restaurant, nothing printed on the menu, and no one informed us before we ordered. • We were a small party, so this felt especially inappropriate — and completely unjustified given the poor level of service we received. The food was mediocre at best, and the lack of transparency and professionalism left a very bad impression. With so many outstanding restaurants in NYC, I won’t be returning to Gabriel’s — and I suggest others think twice.

My husband and some friends went to Gabriel's on a busy Saturday, we had a reservation, which I recommend. The service, atmosphere, and food are all excellent! The calamari is the best we've ever had, and the pasta dishes are exquisite. I had lamb and garlic tortellini, served with a beautiful brown sauce. The portions are just big enough to fill you up, and keep you wanting more, so we had the mint chocolate gelato. The fresh mint comes on strong and is a great way to end the meal. From there we headed to the opera, and had the most perfect night, for which I thank Gabriel's.

I had the pleasure of dining at Gabriel’s Thursday evening. The City was a miserable 90+ degrees with humidity to match. My college roommate was in from Hong Kong and we met at Gabriel’s for dinner. She arrived, looking chic and fabulous as ever, and we settled in for an evening of catching up and picking up exactly where we left off last year. We relate to each other on a level that is so deep and intimate, perhaps because we have known each other more than forty years. As we sat and sipped our wines, Pinot Grigio for her, Chianti for me, the skies opened up. The predicted rain and cooler air had finally arrived. Gabriel’s began to fill and more than a few diners arrived drenched from the rain. The hostess or Gabriel himself helped each one to settle in and dry off. I noted that despite the inconvenience of the heavy rain, every one walked in smiling, glad to be at Gabriel’s and even happier to be in from the storm. For appetizers, we shared the Roasted Marinated Beets, which the kitchen split between two smaller plates. The cauliflower purée, the toasted pine nuts, and the goat cheese make this a delicious way to begin a meal. We caught up on our business lives and, of course, our love lives, over main courses of Pork Chop Milanese, topped with a magnificent greens and grape tomato salad for my roommate, and the Risotto Del Giorno for me, with mushrooms, shallots and truffle oil, and the best version of risotto I have had outside of Italy. Half came home with me for another meal. We were lucky in that Gabriel’s was not overwhelmingly crowded and we talked and dined without so much as a single diner on either side of us. In all my years of dining at Gabriel’s (12?), I’ve never had that happen. Another perfect evening at Gabriel’s, which is what I’ve come to expect.

My wife and I ate dinner there several times on our trip. It is conveniently located directly across the street from the Mandarin Oriental hotel. The cuisine is Italian and French. We had mushroom soup, beet salad, roasted chicken, mushroom lasagna, tortellini with lamb ragout. Our desserts included a delicious apple tart. All preparations were very good. The restaurant is noisy, but there is a side room in the rear that is generally quiet if you want to talk. I advise reservations, especially for dinner.

We have visited Gabriel's in the past and thought this would be a nice place to have lunch near Central Park. However, after this visit, we will try other establishments. My son and I ordered Caesar salads with chicken; the salads were small and nothing special. The thin, bone dry chicken fillet fillet was plopped next to the salad without absolutely no attempt to blend the chicken into the salad. My wife ordered the quinoa "salad" with chicken that consisted of a round form of quinoa and another slab of chicken on the plate, kind of like an afterthought. No creativity and plain. And everything was WAY overpriced. Given the crappy presentation, fair food, and fair service we would NOT return to this establishment. My advice is to check out one of the other 12,000 restaurants in NYC. We won't return.

The best tagliatelle Bolognese in the city. Since they have been making pasta by hand for 40 years. I always like the tuna-tartar for a quick light bite as well.

We were staying at the Ritz Central Park which is next door. I asked them about this resto for brunch. The concierge recommended, saying it was a good choice so they made a reservation for us for a Sunday. (Maybe I should have asked the club concierge as they might have been a little more discerning). I believe the manager waited on us. Started with mimosas which were not good! I asked the manager if the one chablis they had on the wine list was steel aged or oak as I don't like how some of the French have now turned to oak aging their chablis'. He said he went to ask the sommelier and she/he said it was steel aged. One taste and it was heavily oaked. Not happy. He probably just lied to us and didn't even ask a "sommelier". The food was terrible. NOT an Italian resto. My husband had the pappardelle cacio e Pepe. Worst we've ever tried. No sauce, just a pool of water at the bottom of the plate. I had the ravioli zucca. It was so sweet I couldn't eat it. Maybe if I was looking for dessert it would have done the job. All in all, would not recommend this to anyone.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinners and were impressed that we were able to hear each other speak. The tables are not cramped together. The service was also excellent.

Horrible attitude from staff. A little too cool for school. You’re NOT that cool. Horrible service; we walked out. The bartender was put out to give us menus. They should not be in business.

Had a late lunch here, after the lunch rush. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays. As soon as we sat down, the waiter came over with bread, olive oil and olives. We shared the endive and asparagus salad as well as the butternut squash ravioli. The plates came over already split which was a nice touch. The pasta was cooked well and the salad was dressed perfectly.

As soon as you sit down you get a nice family oriented feeling about this place. Its quiet well know in the community and came highly recommended by a local. The food is great, nice hearty meals, American menu and the wine selection is quite good too. A great atmosphere combined with excellent food makes for a perfect night at this place.

Excellent choice before going to the opera. Very close to Lincoln Center. Had the special that day, a veal chop. Fabulous, so tender and delicious. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Well lets get the good bit out of the way at Gabriels the food was very good but not as elite as they would have you think, certainly not Alain Ducasse or Massimo Bottura. We ended up here on our anniversary because we could not get a taxi in the pouring rain, to take us on a dinner cruise to Chelsea pier (Bateaux New York) so we missed it and were now $500 down before we had one drink !! Gabriels was also next door to the Ritz Carlton where we stayed. We had a reservation for 8.15pm and arrived at 8.10 pm we were spoken to by the owner who asked us did we want to come back ?? what a dumb question. I said for 5 minutes , he then said go to the bar or sit over there and pointed to a window seat, without even a smile, surprisingly he shook my hand and we went to the table. We had two courses and sat in close proximity to the owners mother who appeared to be a very charming lady. We had asked for a 30 min break between starter and main as I have a slight digestive problem (Acid reflux), this fell on deaf ears and the main arrived 12 mins after the starter. I had brought $500 out with me as I like to pay cash in restaurants so I thought that would be ample. The meal was two course and we had three bottles of Prosecco and the bill came to $460, which was a shock so I imagined service charge was on because I only looked at the bottom line. I needed $20 for the Ritz doorman so I made the bill up to $480, now I am not familiar with the unwritten law of New York of paying around 20% on top of your bill, what for , 4 plates brought to a table and the top taken off three bottles !! Now for the joke an irate manager ran over to the table and started remonstrating in an agressive manner that the tip was not enough as we had been served all night, so this jerk was looking for a $90 tip. When some people go in and have two pasta dishes and 2 waters and the bill is say $100 then $20 tip is fine, but how many couples go in and spend $460 on a two course meal ??They should look at how much someone has spent for a pro rata tip, as never in my life have I been asked for extra anywhere in the World. To say as a former professional boxer I bit my tongue is an understatement, I just had to get out of the joint quick before I flipped, which would have brought me down to this individuals level, by the way I forgot the complimentary anniversary Tiramisu which was probably worked into the bill somewhere no doubt. All in all as stated you can get similar good food at 100s of New York restaurants so if Gabriels think they are unique think again !! Try dining at Le Louis XV L"Hotel de Paris Monaco that is unique dining.

What a discovery! Brunch on Sunday was equal to its surroundings, fantastic. Great food and drinks together with a staff ready to serve. Great job!!!

Perfect - elegant place w great people and great food! Vongole was superb! Pasta w red sauce perfect and so dente , arugula perfect, ricotta cheesecake OG and perfect! 100%

Was here for a graduation party of 32 people held in the private room. Everyone commented that their dish was quite good. The calamari is not the typical fried calamari at other restaurants. Here it didn't have a crunchy breading, which I prefer. The main dish didn't come with enough veges, but we were served a pre-set menu since it was a party. The private dining room was too tight. It was hard to get out from sitting and there was no room to stand or mingle. We basically ate dinner for a few hours, then left without mixing with other tables cuz we couldn't move around.

This was my third time at Gabriel's, only because I live in Tampa and don't get to NYC often. The food is always great. We had the octupus appetizer which is the best octupus we've ever had. I had the Kid Arrabbitato, slow roasted goat, and it may be the singular best entree I have ever enjoyed. My husband had the Pappardelle, duck ragu, and my son had the Braised Short Ribs. As usual, all were great. After dinner, we each were treated to a glass of muscato. The meals at Gabriel's are always great, the service is so good and the chef is impeccable. As you might guess, we highly recommend this restaurant. It's a definite go-to place whenever we are in NYC.

Very well located in front of Central Park, near 5th Ave this place wont disappoint you in the terms of good food and atmosphere. Unfortunately the service in the past years isnt the same than old days when you feel a client, not like today that depend on the waiter that receive you the moment can be magic or just feel that you paid too much to receive a bad treat. Try the classic and wont be disappointed, and remember italian food always must be serve with wine

Gabriel's restaurant has always been our favorite when visiting NYC over the past 20 years. My husband and I were excited to make reservations at Gabriel's new location. The ambience is breathtaking including the beautiful bar, dining room and lighting (I love the chandeliers!) We ordered some of our favorites: Arugula and parmesan salad, Barolo braised short ribs with polenta and mushrooms and for dessert I had to have my favorite rice pudding (no one makes it like Gabriels) and my husband enjoyed homemade Gelato. As always, we were welcomed by Gabriel and received excellent service from his outstanding staff. We can't wait for our next trip! Thank You, Gabriel, for an amazing evening!

This place will set you price wise, $190.00. It was worth the price. Each morsel was a delight. I had the bolognese which is the best that I have ever had. My daughter had the tortelloni which was perfection. It was an upscale New York vibe but very welcoming and comfortable. Make sure you save some room for dinner. The desserts were a great compliment to an exquisite meal. This place did not leave my longing for anything!

Definitely nothing special, very little atmosphere, the food was partly ok, but incredibly overpriced, had only one bottle of the wine we liked and wanted to serve us a different year. All in all very disappointing, even the service.

Their food and atmosphere are really good; however, the attitude of their personnel is disappointing. There is no kindness, no smile—it feels as if they are working reluctantly. Although our bill was $231.98 and that exact amount was initially charged to our card, after we left, they altered the charge and withdrew $246.98 instead. Be cautious with your payments—avoid handing over your card. Pay in cash and leave. However, the best choice would be not to go there at all.

This is my favorite dining experience in NYC! Beyond beyond delicious. I love the homemade pasta and the lamb chops are incredible. I love coming here for business and renting out the private room. I also come here for a relaxed and elegant family meal! I recommend to anyone who wants a superb Italian meal!

How does Gabriel maintain such ruthlessly high standards over such a long period of time? Frankly who cares how he does it. Just go and sample it. Enjoy the ambiance. Enjoy the stunning food. Enjoy the well priced wine list. Enjoy his company. My wife and I have been going here for over 20 years. The Italian themed cooking is spot on every time. Perfect pasta. Wonderful tuna and poussin. Try the kid. Don’t ever close. Don’t ever change. Keep the magic and dream alive so we can all live better. It’s worth a visit from the UK just to sit down and enjoy the experience

The food here is delicious! We used to come regularly before attenting the Philharmonic in Lincoln Center because it was so convenient. It's been awhile and decided to return for my birthday. We ordered different salads to start, and the salmon and tuna dishes for entrees. All the dishes were incredibly tasty! Service and food were excellent. We will definitely return soon.

We were fans of Gabriel's at the old location on the UWS. This was our first time in the new location on CPS, and we weren't disappointed. Different, but still a treat. Elegant, excellent service, excellent (but not spectacular) food. Lively bar scene. A real New York experience. Come here just to enjoy the vibe. We had a table at the front window so we could watch the scene on the street and the scene at the bar. Very nice. We had an early reservation because we had a 7:30 curtain at Lincoln Center. We told the Maître d' that we would have to be quick, and we got excellent, attentive and rapid service. We didn't feel rushed, but things moved right along and we finished our meal in plenty of time. We even had time for my wife to have a decaf espresso , which she said was fabulous.

I gave the restaurant three chances to prove itself. However, the wait staff and food grossly disappointed. Our waiter was poorly trained. The food was expensive, not delicious and the pasta was super al Dante...meaning...a little uncooked. Why would anyone want to eat slightly uncooked pasta? The wines were quite outrageously priced. Obviously, they hoped that their clientele will not complain as they are right across from the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. In short, this Italian restaurant, is short of all the attributes that I like in a good restaurant. Good food. Good service. Reasonable prices.

Lovely food actually delicious quick friendly service enjoyed a cocktail and also met one of the owners lovely ambience didn't feel out of ace being a solo diner, would highly recommend

My visit to the Florence.excellente coffee and cappuccino. And Best Service.I have ever been to. ... welcoming experience overall.Highly Recommended

We were a group of seven with a reservation. We were seated immediately. The food was excellent and was matched by the service. I had the Braised Short Ribs which was wonderful. The other guests were equally impressed with their meals.

The staff is lovely, the ambiance is timeless, the food is good. And the location is top notch. Close to Lincoln Center, the Time Warner Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, etc.very understated. The menu is not extensive, but well prepared and beautifully presented. Be forewarned: if the rent in the area is high (and it is) then the price for good food is too.

I spent my thanksgiving here and it was the best way to celebrate with my family! The most delicious turkey and ambience. I felt right at home. Turkey was moist and juicy. Cranberry sauce changed my opinion on cranberrys. Delicious!!! I am new to Manhattan and it’s been such a joy to find somewhere so special. The crowning jewel of Manhattan! Such amazing hospitality and service. Most delicious and authentic Northern italian cuisine. Love sitting at the bar and having a solo meal, meeting New Yorkers, or celebtrating with a big group at a cozy booth. 10/10 would recommend.

Gabriel should never be in front of this restaurant. Very arrogant and rude. Asked us if we were going to eat or only sit to enjoy the view. He barely kicked us out of the restaurant. We were there the night before for dinner and went back. For sure do not recommend!! Will never come back!!!

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions over the years, and I used to refer to it as my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. I planned an outing for my entire family who were in the city to celebrate the Christmas holidays. Unfortunately, the restaurant has seriously slipped. The service was terrible, and the food was mediocre at best. Our waiter was rude and continued to forget to take our drink orders. One of our party ordered two entrées only to be advised that that was not the proper way to order and insisted that one of them be served to the table as a whole and that is exactly how he served it. It felt as if we had just had an interaction with a used car salesman. Everyone was confused. Our orders were mixed up and the waiter, having announced himself as the owner son, was rude, arrogant and incompetent. We won’t be back.

This is an excellent Italian restaurant. Fairly quiet and out of the way on 60th. If you are going to Lincoln Center or Lincoln Ctr Jazz this is a great place to have a dinner.

The welcome is very friendly but it goes downhill from there. How do they manage to make octopus both rubbery and mushy at the same time is a feat. Everything else was in the same vein of meh. I can not think of a reason to eat here in a city of tasty Italian restaurants. And it is not not cheap. The place is busy so clearly mediocrity has its fans (big surprise).

We walked into Gabriel's at nine p.m. on Saturday night after seeing the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall and walking to Columbus Circle accompanied by the honking of horns and swarms of tourists. The restaurant was unusually quiet with only a few tables of patrons. The warmth, and serenity were so welcome after the earlier noise and excitement of the evening. Gabriel's is like coming home. The food is always wonderful, the service is attentive and professional but with warmth and even humor. Handsome Companion had the Beets with Goat Cheese. I had the Sautéed Spinach. Each dish was delicious. HC had the last order of the Mushroom Lasagna, a deconstructed and soul-satisfying dish. I had the Risotto Del Giorno (or Del Noto as our waiter said jokingly) which was creamy and delicious, with peas and prosciutto chunks to flavor it. We shared a cheese plate for dessert; delicious Italian cheeses served at perfect room temperature. There is nothing I don't like about Gabriel's, absolutely nothing.

OK, let's get this out of the way first. In a Central Park location, you expect pricey, and Gabriel's is. But NOT over the top pricey, not silly pricey, not foo foo pricey. Great food in a gracious setting that is totally fairly priced. One of us had the veal chop - a special this night - that was moist and tender and bursting with subtle flavor. Gnocchi was peasant simple yet presented with a gentle sauce that elevated it. Banana pudding dessert was a scoop out the last morsel delight. Owner Gabriel stopped by to be sure we were well fed and well treated and we assured him we were. All in all should have a Michelin star or two.

Three words…Home Made Gnocchi. My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant in 2021 and we immediately fell in love. Our favorite meals to get are the lamb chops and gnocchi. Stop by if you are in NY and don’t forget to get the chocolate lava cake.

My husband and I ate at Gabriel’s last night after a jazz performance at Lincoln Center. It was a Saturday night in NYC yet quite empty at 10 pm. Now I know why. Service was abissmal. Waiter looked annoyed to be there and the staff made no effort to keep it down as they were closing up shop by yelling back and forth to each other as if there were no patrons. Waiter hung out in front of restaurant(we were in the back) so anytime we needed him we had to practically stand up and wave as he paid no attention to us the entire time. Now for the food. I had the special Pork Chop Milanese. It was rare when I cut into it. Disappointed I sent it back. The waiter had no clue as to why a raw piece of pork was an issue as he looked annoyed and made no apology. Well my pork chop was quite clearly thrown in the microwave, as the exact same one was brought back to me a minute later...breading was still as white and mushy as when it was first put in front of me-clearly it was not thrown back on any heating source. They had probably already started cleaning the kitchen and shut off the stoves. I can tell you that it was still not edible except a little bit on the edges where it was kind of crispy but 85% of if it was still not safe for consumption. It had the odor of rotting meat on top of it all. I made no fuss. My husband and I had enjoyed such a lovely evening to this point. We just left, but what an embarrassment to the owner. $42 for a microwaved piece of meat because the kitchen staff was too lazy to fire up the stove again. Never ever again...

Gabriels is a few short blocks from Lincoln Center - is usually crowded but not noisy. We had the grilled salmon and the ravioli, preceded by the Caesar salad, all terrific. The rice pudding was divine. Don’t miss this spot

Gabriel's Bar and Restaurant is an Italian Resturant that has a dark and classy interior. We've been here before and it's a typical upscale bar/restaurant with staff that's been there forever. It's location is convenient for the area.

There is no denying the delectably prepared dishes at this lovely d upscale restaurant, but it comes at a price that is inflated a bit beyond reason, doubtless due to its prime location at Columbus Circle. The tender gnocchi was about the best I have tasted in its tomato basil sauce, and the mezzaluna was similarly beyond reproach in its delicate blending of ingredients. But the portions should be larger and $32 is too much for a simple pasta dish, no matter how well prepared. Friends enjoyed the beef carpaccio and the heartier portion of short ribs. The side dining room was a bit dim, but far more conducive to conversation than the noisy main room. Our waiter was blessed with a great sense of humor and was top notch! There were limited but fine wines by the glass — with ridiculous prices.

We went to Gabriel's before a NY Philharmonic concert. The appetizers were very good (carpaccio, especially). Entrees were diverse and uniformly tasty. What surprised us was the substantial size of each dish. The desserts were good, but not unique. The service was very good until it was time to get the check, when the waiter disappeared. Once we got the bill, it was settled quickly.

Gabriel’s was a pleasant surprise, since it was a random choice in the middle of a cold of those in NY! The environment is quite cozy and the view is special: facing Central Park! The staff is extremely attentive and attentive to our needs! The food is so delicious that you feel pleasure in the stomach and a caress in the heart! For entrance, they bring a party of hot and delicious breads that seem to be made by them and we also ordered a crochet of alchemy with cheese sauce that was divine: nothing fattening and crispy! For the main dish, my mother ordered the mezzaluna and was DIVINA: homemade pasta, super fine, at the correct point of cooking, with a delicious filling of ricotta and spinach; I ordered short ribs with polenta and mushrooms that was SURREAL of tasty: meat avoided just to lean the fork with a tasty polenta and mushrooms too! For dessert we ordered the banana pudding and it was super fresh, light and sweet at the right point! Really, a wonderful experience!

My sister, who lives up the street from this divine restaurant, recommended it to us. It was the best place we ate at in NY over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we can't wait to return on a subsequent visit. After sharing a tasty arugula salad, we enjoyed a Villa Antinori wine (always a favorite with us) that complimented our raviolio zucca and tagliatelli bolognese. BEST bolognese we've EVER had.. The warm chocolate truffle cake melts in your mouth and is worth every calorie. We loved our server--Emmaline.

Beautiful restaurant and beautiful food. It was quite expensive, but to be expected in this area, definitely worth it. Surroundings were lovely too.

Not as welcoming as we had hoped based on previous reviews and a previous visit by one of us, expensive, pasta was very good but not rushing back

In a word: Exceptional! visited Gabriel's with family while in the Big Apple. Can't say enough about this dining establishment & experience. The staff & service was Great and the food was nothing short of Exceptional. A true dining delight. For appetizers we had: the watermelon salad, Lentil soup of the day, Meatballs w/ ricotta spread and Mussels in white wine sauce. For mains we had: Mezzaluna ravioli w/ spinach & ricotta filling, Pasta special with broccoli rabe & sausage, and Ravioli Zucca w/ butternut squash filling. Each dish was exquisitely prepared, and we capped it off with their handcrafted gelato and the most delicious pucker-producing lemon sorbet. Bottom line, an absolutely DELICIOUS Dining Experience. Bravo to the entire Team.

My husband and I just finished a bike ride through Central Park on our final day in NYC. It was a bit wet with light rain and we searched out a restaurant close to the park . We came across Gabriel’s and went in . There were not many customers. The female maitre d sat us . The waiter asked about drinks and recited specials . We ordered and once the food came out… attention was given to a table of 3 girls. We finished our entrees without anyone inquiring about the taste . The man who brought us water picked up dishes and asked about dessert or coffee/cappuccino. The cappuccino was delicious. We consumed everything on the table including water and other beverages. The wait time for waiter to bring the bill or acknowledge us was around 15 minutes. I walked over to the maitre d and she said she would get the bill for us . The waiter did come over then and presented the check . Very disappointing last NYC experience. I loved the butternut squash ravioli but did not feel welcome as we saw the table of 3 girls receive Prosecco refills as we waited for a check to leave .

After the Metro North debacle last Tuesday night (no train service in or out of Grand Central) and I in a rocker boot for torn ligaments (too much running) in both feet, Handsome Companion came to my rescue Wednesday evening, calling me in the late afternoon to tell me he that was driving in to the City to pick me up and take me home, but first dinner at Gabriel’s. I gladly hobbled from my office to the 1 Train, emerged at Columbus Circle, and hobbled across Broadway to meet H.C. at Gabriel’s for dinner. Gabriel walked in shortly after I arrived, tie loose, and jacket off, but he was soon getting ready for the evening ahead. I had had almost nothing for lunch and so was quite hungry when our waiter presented the menu. Momma Mia; such choices! H. C. started with the buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad ( what a shock, I know) and I had the bresaola. Both were divine. The bresaola was served at room temperature; delicious. H.C.’s buffalo mozzarella with cherry tomatoes and arugula was as good as any we had in our recent trip to Italy. For the main course, I had the risotto; so creamy and wonderful and enough to bring half home for lunch the next day. H.C. had the lasagna which is always simply splendid; perfect proportions of pasta to meat and cheese. We passed on dessert and coffee; a perfect evening at Gabriel’s once again. It’s my absolute NYC favorite.

The request of table change was rude by one of the managers, the restaurant was 80% empty. Food average, very high prices. Not what used to be.

I know a place where the martinis are always just as cold as the company is warm. Where the pasta comes fresh and the nostalgia comes free and everything sparkles even on Sundays. I know a place that greets you by name when you walk in the door. Whether they know it or not, it doesn’t matter here. Here, they’re always happy to have you…back. Here, strangers are never strangers for long if you’re offered just one more spoon for the tiramisu. I know a place with the best goddamn tiramisu. Lady fingers and espresso. You’ve got to try it, I said so. Because here? At this place? You check your “oh but I shouldn’ts” at the door in favor of a plateful of “just one more bites.” In favor of a bolognese that tastes like home, however far that may be. But see, this place I know…as cold as the martinis and warm as the bread may be, the best part is that it will never be “cool” or a “hotspot.” No. This place is so much more than that. This place is timeless in the way that holds you. Inviting in the way that begs you to stay. Classic in the way that it stays classy. Glamorous in how romantic it feels to just sit at the bar. And most of all… Best of all… This place is family, because being run by one, You’re part of one here.

The food and service were certainly of very good quality, but the air conditioning was so cold (even by New York standards) that it took away the atmosphere of the entire restaurant and the food. Unfortunately, the waiter couldn't change the settings of the system, so we got sweaters and asked for the bill very quickly after eating. The guests at the other tables didn't stay long either. Conclusion: you have to expect something different from such an expensive restaurant!

I was very well taken care of. I got a table on the street, with a view of Central Park. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon was perfect

This is a very good Italian place especially if you go to jazz later. The fish and veal dishes were great and so was the muscles. Nice atmosphere and good service. Would be back if in the area.

Do not go to this restaurant! The cocktails are NOT good, the food is NOT good, and the owner yells at you! The most miserable moment of my NYC visits for soooooo many years!!!

We are always overwelmed when we go to the City and look for a new restaurant that will be memorable. We always need a restaurant near the Lincoln Center that can get us out for the show. Gabriel did it with flying colors. From the octopus appetizer special to the lamb tortelini the meal was awesome. The service was exceptional. (ask for Luciano). We have found our new favorite pre-opera restaurant.

Had to cancel a reservation for a work dinner (more than 24 hours in advance) and the host demanded to know where we were going instead. He then hung up in my face.

There is a surprising lack of good restaurants around Lincoln Center. This place is relatively quiet. Service is very good. Food is solidly consistent. Muscles were good. Salmon was very good. Goat was very good, though I didn't eat it! If you want quiet, ask for the small room on the side of the restaurant.

Met up with an old friend. Great choice with superb service. We were left alone to talk and enjoy clams, lobster & mussels but someone was always there when we needed them.

Kudos to friends who took me here before the ballet: Service was responsive which one needs if arriving at 6:30 and trying to make an 8 pm curtain. Bartender served up an excellent gin cocktail and we found the short ribs and a tortellini dish superb, with the ribs tender and falling off the bone and not overly dressed.

There is nothing about Gabriel's I don't love, from the warm, inviting interior, to the handsome Italian waiter with the wonderful accent, to the basic menu and equally-splendid specials. Gabriel is always in attendance. His watchful eye and careful attention to detail in a restaurant which bears his name make all the difference. Gabriel is so unassuming and just does what he does so very well, night after night. And now, I see, one of his sons is learning the ropes. The food is delicious and also without pretension. The marinated beet salad with goat cheese is exquisite; glistening and creamy. The roast chicken with baby potatoes and spinach (a substitution and not a problem at Gabriel's) is warm, tender and full of flavor. The lasagna bolognese is soft and meaty and not overwhelmed by cheese as lasagna usually is. The pasta, hand made daily by the same man who has been with Gabriel since the beginning (1991), is heavenly. So basically what I'm saying is, this place is deserving of every one of those five stars and more.

Just off Columbus Circle and steps away from Central Park, this charming restaurant feels comfortable with a neighborhood atmosphere but really brings it with the food and service. We were greeted by Gabriel when we arrived and were given a spacious table. For appetizers, we enjoyed burrata cheese and grilled calamari. Delicious! For entrees, we had short ribs and grilled tuna, again both superb. And the "famous rice pudding" for dessert was worthy of the name. The smoothest rice pudding I've ever had. You can't go wrong at Gabriel's!

Gabriel’s is simply outstanding! Attention to every detail is assured here. We arrived early and opted for pre-dinner drinks at the bar. We were surprised to see Brunello di Montalcino by the glass on the menu. Given the cost per glass ($28), we were worried about the age of the open bottle and the aeration breakdown. The bartender gladly offered to open a new bottle, giving this beautiful 2012 vintage time to open in our glasses. Just wonderful! When we were seated, Gabriel introduced himself and offered his assistance throughout the meal. We began with an extraordinary beef carpaccio, followed by their specialty: lamb chops. The quality was superb! Every time we’ve been to Gabriel’s, we have always had consistent excellence. This is one of New York’s best fine dining experiences!

Gabriel's is a restaurant with real family flair. The affable servers will walk you through the specials and recommend their favorites on the menu, which has a rustic flair to it and covers the gamut of classic Italian Fare. The wine list has great little Italian gems. Location makes it a solid choice for the pre-show crowd from Lincoln Center. Biggest drawback: a paucity of vegetarian dishes, which is a shame given how much vegetables feature in Italian Cuisine.

The food is amazing. The fettuccine is out of this world!! Owner Gabriel and staff are top notch. Can't wait to return!! And soon!!

Was disappointed that there was very little atmosphere in this restaurant. Aldi we opted to share a salad as an appetiser so it was obvious we weren’t big eaters. When we ordered the enter we couldn’t decide between asparagus or broccoli and the server advised broccoli but at no point did she tell us that the order came with a vegetable so it was a waste. When the entrée came it was absolutely enormous and we could have shared. The server laughed and said I should have told you. Yes she should as I only ate about 1/3 of my food. She then came with desert menus!! We don’t be going back again as we felt that the experience was a rip off. This was our anniversary too

Gabriels doesn’t disappoint. A recent meal of a Caesar Salad and the squash ravioli and tiramisu was wonderful. Crowded but not noisy. Good service gets you to your show.

Excellent food; active scene especially before Lincoln Center show times;expensive but worth the experience.

I suppose customers come and go and they don’t care. Some of our party had good food. When the waiters gave us 15 minutes to eat appetizers and then appeared with main courses, that was too much. The place was empty - why rush us. Why hover behind people who haven’t finished. No answer.

Hmmm.... not quite sure what to say here that's fair and objective. Came for brunch and we were expecting a 5 star experience. We are not a family who complains easily or sends food back Seated in window (lovely) Underneath an exceptionally noisy loud speaker - so had to ask for it to be turned down, which was done graciously albeit main waiter questioned reception staff's decision Waiter a bit "off" generally 30 -45 min wait for food to arrive which just felt far too long compared to other venues offering similar dishes Pancakes ok - generous portion Bacon and scrambled eggs was odd and a bit chilly Steak and eggs asked for medium but it was actually raw on inside. It was as not edible We had to send it back - and again was graciously dealt with and returned with a complimentary side of asparagus When food or drinks arrived they were kind of slammed down hurriedly It was all sadly lacking

This decidedly old school Italian restaurant needs some serious redesign in decor and on the menu. I was deeply disappointed by the inattentive service, boring menu and even less appetizing food - served at ridiculously high prices for what is being offered. Avoid.

Relatively empty restaurant- still insisted most patrons sat hidden away.. had to struggle to get a window side seat. Waiter pleasant- head of house? (Presumably) standoffish. Food lacklustre. Avoid

A few blacks walk from Lincoln center and boy was it empty after the show. I was a little concerned becasue when we walked in there were a few people at the bar and almost no one at the (many) tables. But the restaurants just across the street from Lincoln center were packed right after the ballet, and so we gave it a try. Possibly becasue it was so empty but we had excellent service - seemed like we had 4 people willing to help at all times. I had a steak special and my wife had a pasta, and both were very good along with a wine sggested by the server. They said they are busy prior to the shows but this was a Saturday night so it seemed odd. I would highly reccomend it from the food and ambiance, and to get away from the crowds after a ballet.

Like my title indicates, we met the owner while being seated. He could not have been more friendly, treating us as if we'd been regulars for years, even though I'd never met him in my life. I love that at a restaurant. It's almost impossible to meet the owner, and then experience a disappointing meal, assuming you're going somewhere decent. Service was responsive and friendly, the food ordered by the four of us was well-prepared and uniformly tasty. Desserts were delicious.

We have frequented Gabriel's over the years and have had very pleasant experiences. So it was without hesitation that we booked for lunch at noon on a recent weekend. An ambivalent young man showed us to our seats remarking that we were a minute early. He left us to sit there for seven more minutes with no menu or water. As we started to put on our coats to leave waiters stepped out, bread was on the table and the regular dining ritual began...water, olives, menus, etc. If you take a reservation for noon you should be ready to start service at noon. That said, our lunch was very good. The pasta here is excellent and our salads were fresh, if unimaginative. Located just steps from Jazz at Lincoln Center and a few blocks from the Lincoln Center complex this restaurant is a good alternative to those encircling the complex. Just don't make a noon reservation.

Excellent food, attentive service, quiet and upscale but not pretentious atmosphere, convenient access. What more could you ask for? My siblings and their spouses all said they would go back, which is high praise. Fine dining prices for fine dining.

I wasn't too sure about going here for dinner. The reviews are fine but not great. Wow, we loved the food here. The special salad - pear and hazel nut salad was amazing. The entrees did not disappoint. And the desserts - I could eat these every night! I had the apple crostata - wow. I wouldn't change a thing about it. The caramel sauce and the apples paired perfectly. We will be back! Oops, I almost forgot. The service was above perfect, we were made to feel like Gabriel's was home. So nice . . .

I had the pleasure to eat at Gabriel's for a corporate dinner. Working with the owner made the whole event planning as easy as could be for me. Our group had a great time, the staff was attentive and kind and the food very good.

We wanted a good restaurant close to our hotel in Columbus Circle and Gabriel's was certainly that. Even though it was a Saturday the restaurant was not busy. We shared an excellent Caesar salad and each had a solid pasta entrée. Service was fun with a New York Italian flavor and the ambience was that of a restaurant with a long history of a regular cliental. Gabriel's is not a bargain spot. Wine was in the $60 range for mid-price and then up. It was a good evening but it will cost $200 a couple without going crazy on wine, appetizers or desserts.

Friends invited me for lunch at my favorite restaurant, Gabriels. We were greeted by Gabriel and escorted to the private dining room where I was totally SURPRISED to see friends and family singing Happy Birthday to me! The luncheon menu was amazing! Appetizers: Grilled Octopus and Tuna Tartare; Gnocchi pasta, Poppyseed crusted Salmon & Grilled Lamb Chops. Dessert was a special Tiramisu birthday cake! Thirty of my closest friends and family were raving about the delicious food and fantastic service we all received. It was such a special afternoon at my very favorite restaurant!

We had an amazing time at Gabriel’s. The food was wonderful and the service was amazing. The staff is top notch. We even met the owner. Don’t miss out on this place!

13 of us came to eat here after a wedding in Central Park. Due to small party we were unable to have a private room. However, it was quiet and intimate enough to feel like we had privacy. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and we were able to complete speeches in between courses with no interruptions. The food - WOW, it was amazing, the butternut squash ravioli was the best ravioli I have ever eaten - honestly it was so tasty. Everyone commented on how tasty the food was. Thank you to all the staff for allowing us to celebrate a special day and making it even more special. Highly recommend!!

Great Bar and Food was delicious Italian! The bar had great ambiance and poured a good drink! Homemade pastas were authentic and delicious

This restaurant looks like nothing much from the outside and I would have walked right by if my hotel hadn't recommended it. Inside, we experienced prompt and professional service and most importantly, terrific food. All the pasta is made in-house. I had the lamb/garlic tortellini with tomato-mascarpone sauce and my niece had the ravioli of the day. Both were delicious. I also had a kale salad so good that I asked for the recipe of the salad dressing. This is an excellent pre-theater/concert spot and I will return.

My wife and I met our friends Todd and Gavin and Gavin's parents for dinner here. They'd just come from their home in Spain and were every bit as enchanted with this restaurant as we've been every time time we've dined here. We loved the red wine from Villa Antinori. It's a favorite of ours ever since we learned in Italy that the winery (Villa Antinori) pays its grape-pickers a fair wage. Here are some of the pasta dishes we loved: Ravioli Zucca, Tagliatelle, Pappardelle C., Linguini V., Caesar salad, and beet salad. The desserts (classic Tiramiuse and Bombolini (i.e, Italian donuts with sauce) were amazing. We can't wait to return!

A great location for dinner prior to Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall. We dined prior to attending a concert Carnegie Hall. Our server was attentive and friendly. Two of us split the mussels appetizer which was excellently done. I recommend it - and ask for more bread to soak up the tasty broth. Their tuna steak was very well prepared (and done to my asking - medium rare but the portions were very large. The wine selection by the glass was just fine and priced right for NY. The ice cream for desert was just OK, as could have been a bit more flavourful. There are many other places in the general vicinity of Columbus circle that have a more eclectic menu - but Gabriels has been a consistent go to when in the area. Their menu can use some updating - as it really has not changed much over the past many years.

Luckily Gabriel's was open for a late night bite post theater. While the menu seemed limited, there were numerous delicious sounding specials. We opted for the grilled octopus starter, a half portion and modified version of the seafood tagliatelle and the veal chop. Pair that with perfect martinis and we call that a truly satisfying meal! We plan to return.

This new location is a very comfortable space. Finally a NYC restaurant with tables and nooks which allow you to feel connected to your party rather than to the many others who are seated too close elsewhere. The table arrangement of astounding yellow roses set the tone. The menu is quite extensive with meats, fish, pasta and many other temptations. There is no lack of variety. We tried the salmon, the branzino, the veal chop and scallops. Each dish was credibly done and appreciated. The wine selection was appreciated and the desserts were very good indeed. The service was friendly and prompt. We missed seeing the owner from W 60th St and wondered if he still has his eye on the place. Our welcome was courteous, but lacking in the style from W 60th St. So, I am giving this a sound review but not a great one. The new pricing is noticeably strong, even in NYC.

This is a classic that has been in NY for years, but the truth is that it disappointed us quite a bit. We tried the Filet which costs 90 dollars and the truth is that the meat is of quite low quality and the preparation left a lot to be desired. We also tried the Tuna tartar which was nothing special. And finally the ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta, which were very good. The service is not very good. The herd was a little rough with us. Not nice.

I was fortunate to be introduced to this delightful restaurant, old-style Italian - not cheap, but right opposite my hotel Mandarin Oriental and so a godsend. Ate there three times and enjoyed both the food and the ambiance. No pretentions, nothing fancy, but a great New York experience nonetheless. Service very friendly, and great for people-watching without intrusion!

We had the pleasure of dining at Gabriel's before seeing an Opera at The Met. We were greeted and seated by none other than Gabriel himself who clearly cares about every guest's experience. We ordered the 2009 Sammarco wine off the vintage list, which blew our minds. We later learned that this was Gabriel's personal favorite wine, and so he brought us a sample of his risotto to taste with it (isn't that awesome?). My wife ordered the duck pappardelle and I had the lamb tortellini. We were both near tears of joy at the perfection of this meal. Service, location, atmosphere, and especially the food were all 5 stars. Highly recommended.
Great Italian $$$$ dining on the park
In New York, especially on central park, you must put all price expectations aside. This place is expensive, but our meal was excellent. Now the Cesear salad was ordinary and pricey--skip it. However, the veal chop, gnocci and filet were all fantastic. Desserts were also great. Our table split tiramisu and the ricotta cheesecake. Our server was good and very soft spoken and hard to understand. Perhaps a bit more attentiveness would have been helpful. Overall, excellent meal but not cheap.
