Fantastic

By lachesis2 |

We had a wonderful time. We were seated on time and the food was tasty. The servers/singers were fantastic. We heard songs from Frozen, Aladdin, Come from Away, Hamilton and Six. The atmosphere was electric. Would highly recommend to all musical lovers.

Great Performances by the Staff

By Glenn M |

Your servers sing for you...literally at your table. They have excellent voices and the tunes are familiar and fun. They make the short wait for your food even shorter. Great diner food that is, as you'd expect, more than a normal person could eat at one sitting.

Fantastic performers and wonderful for gluten intolerant folks!

By CupOfStars8357 |

The performers were absolutely incredible and the atmosphere was perfect! Cherry on top was a fully accessible menu for my gluten-free needs. We loved it here for our Broadway-focused NYC trip!

Amazing!!

By Charlotte B |

The food was so nice and the servers were incredible, singing songs like Phantom of the Opera, from Phantom of the Opera, Hopelessly Devoted, from Grease, Satisfied from Hamilton and Ex-Wives from Six. Amazing vocal talent and incredible food, lovely service and the servers were so nice!!

Fabulous entertainment and food

By Scarlettwoman001 |

Fabulous singing by the waiters - so much so I don’t need to go to a show. Food was fresh and tasty if a tad pricy but the atmosphere was brilliant and the location perfect. The 1930’s period restaurant a find.

Great Singers, Great Food!

By LexiV |

We had a reservation but ended up getting there about a half an hour early and were seated right away. Our table was up against a pillar, so we couldn't always see the singers, but we could definitely always hear them. Everyone was great! One thing that we didn't realize is that sometimes the singers sing directly to you. This was fun once we were aware, but it initially kind of freaked out my introvert teen daughter when a singer came up behind her and started crooning to her. They did a lot of Disney songs probably since there was a ton of kids in the restaurant. However, there isn't a lot for picky eaters. Your best bet might be the mac and cheese appetizer, which is very rich. The food was very good, so quality matched the higher prices.

Just WOW!

By Jamy V |

This is a fantastic way to experience broadway caliber talent while you eat. The singing serving staff were amazing. You will see these people on stages in NYC and across America for sure. We met the host and the owner who were fantastic and really were so accommodating. We actually tried to get a reservation for the next night as well but they were booked! No Surprise!

Great concept, poorly executed

By Sara C |

You don’t come for the food, you come for the entertainment. We booked in advance, but even then seating was challenging. Don’t accept a seat in the bar area. They tried us and we declined. We ended up at a high table near the door and I wouldn’t recommend this either. Specify seating required in your booking. You want to be in the main dining area, which seems to be set for larger groups and possibly parties of 4 plus. We felt disengaged from the entertainment, like having a severely restricted view seat at a Broadway show. Wait staff nice and helpful. Food average. We chose this over Ellen’s for the reputation for better food. But the food was just adequate. Fries cold and very oily, chicken burger quite nice, but hey it’s a burger, and cobb salad, meh! A really strong fish smell greeted us on arrival. You can stay 80 minutes. Another review suggested you tip the singers only. The bill required a tip and at intervals ( just as we arrived) they were “passing the hat” for the performers. Great concept, poorly executed.

Food poisoning

By kerissa22 |

This was our 1st restaurant in NYC and we were so disappointed. There were large groups of school kids on a trip and we were seated right at the door and not even in the main area. They sent multiple text messages and there is a sign when you walk in asking you to leave in an hour. In addition, the owner walks around with a hat and asks for tips for the singers in addition to their 5% added to the bill plus another service tip is expected. The worst part was both our kids got fish and chips and food poisoning. Not a great way to start off your vacation being confined to a hotel room. Maybe they should cook the food and not rush you out so fast. The food was served so fast but it wasn't handled well since they both had food poisoning. Very disappointing experience. We did enjoy the singing. If I had known we would have been there on a busy week night with so many large school groups, we would have selected a different night to go

Nice experience

By Louise |

Such a great experience. The waiting staff are so talented. We decided to go here rather than Elle Stardust’s as I had being reading reviews. Gayles didn’t disappoint. Great service and nice food

Incredible experience!!

By NatliaCM91 |

This was one of my highlights from my trip to New York last week. Welcoming atmosphere, lovely food and drink, incredibly talented singers. Had some food and stayed for drinks, stayed for a good 3 hours. I am a complete musical theatre geek so felt right at home!! Will definitely be back the next time I’m in New York

Great singing, huge portions but...

By astudystar |

I've not been to Ellen's so have no reference point for this style of restaurant but we chose Gayles because we could book in advance - life's too short to queue especially in this heat. The restaurant is upstairs above a deli but just follow the singing. Gayle was very welcoming and sat us near the main performance area. It was much quieter than I had expected for the location. The waiting staff are polite and attentive, the portions are huge we had a steak, spaghetti & meatballs fish and chips plus a cold cuts platter (enough meat on the platter to feed 3 people let alone one person). All very tasty and no complaints from the kids. All through the meal the staff take turns to sing and they are a really talented bunch with solos, duets and group numbers (they have great chemistry). Desserts are massive one piece of cheesecake would feed two people and the milkshakes are a work of art. This would have been 5 stars had it been a little more up to date in terms of decor and the toilets were not the best (things the owners can improve quite easily). All in all I'd recommend giving it a try but as I say I've nothing to compare it against.

Rude staff, hostess on a power trip.

By boston75 |

Terribly rude hostess. Could not have had a more unpleasant experience here. Last time we were in NYC we had a fun time at Ellen’s Stardust Diner where everyone is so fun and nice. But here at Gayle’s, it’s very obviously a tourist trap with terrible food and service and being treated like crap. Just stay away from here.

Must do in New York

By Amy G |

Gayle’s has only been open a couple of months and they did not disappoint! We went last Sunday evening and we were blown away. Our waiter was attentive and had an amazing voice. The other staff were just as talented. They are trained vocalist not just run of the mill singers. The chemistry between the staff made it that much more enjoyable. Food was delicious and the shakes were over the top yummy. The owner Gayle came to our table and introduced herself. She was so welcoming and sweet. We had a large group with teens and the oldest on our group was a grandmother in her 70’s. Everyone had a great time! We are planning to go back this weekend.

Nice but unbearably loud

By Margaret B |

The singers are fantastic, but as a mom Who had spent all day on the City with her kids, this was unbearably loud. I actually chose not to eat because I was so overwhelmed by the noise. The food was fine and the kids seemed to enjoy it, but I wish I was more prepared for the noise.

5 Stars - Food and Performers

By Tammy W |

We were so fortunate to get reservations for dinner. The servers/performers were excellent and the food was delicious. This was the last dinner of our trip and it was a high note to end on - definitely recommend it!

Awesome Broadway Singing Restaurant

By dgmkm |

We had early reservations at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 12/27/19. Sat immediately and Gayle herself greeted and seated us. Window seat. The signing servers were awesome. We loved every minute of our dining experience and would highly recommend Gayle's to anyone who likes Broadway music. The food is pretty good, and very reasonably priced. The restaurant was quite full by the time we left. I had a corned beef and pastrami and it was huge! Actually kind of too much meat. The desserts and milk shakes looked awesome (we didn't have any). The highlight was the group of servers who sang 525,600 minutes from RENT...our favorite and they slayed it!

No… never again

By 12Nathalie |

Just had dinner here. One big disappointment. I made a reservation 4 weeks ago. At arrival in the restaurant we were told that we could only sit at our table for 70 minutes, that’s it, further no welcome at all. On top of that we ended up with a poor table in the bar/welcome area. You could hear the songs and once in a while the performer walked through the bar area, but this was totally not the atmosphere I expected to experience after seeing some videos on social media and checking out their website. Food was not good. Two minutes after our appetizer was served, we already got our main courses. During dinner, Gayle stopped by to collect tips for the waiters/waitresses. Mixed feelings about this. No, will definitely not return.

Fantastic talent but VERY loud

By FellowTraveler401417 |

Food was lovely and the singing waitresses / waiters were fantastic. HOWEVER it was VERY loud. It’s like a posher version of Ellen’s but without the authentic diner experience. Food was much better than Ellen’s though

Jesse deserves a good review via Gayle’s Broadway Rose!

By Cait G |

First thing’s first, Jesse is phenomenal. Second thing, this was such an enjoyable dinner experience. Personable staff and great food. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to have dinner before seeing Wicked!!

Good food with great entertainment

By erdadof3 |

Visited with my wife and 3 teenage girls (19, 18 and 17). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment as the staff are extremely talented. Overall the food was only OK however the shakes were amazing (even at $15 each). If you have a group who enjoy Broadway show tunes this is the place for you. We had a wonderful corner table overlooking 8th Ave/44th St. with plenty of room around us to enjoy the experience. Make reservations and enjoy Gayle's now before word gets around and the crowds arrive.

Staff are wonderful, but not much else

By Craig H |

We needed a quick dinner before a 7pm show, and the place we preselected had a too long wait time. This was the first alternative we found. So the staff all sing and are all rather good and that part of the experience was lovely. That said, the premises were very dated, and somewhat grungy. The men's room was rather disgusting. The food was essentially fast food, and was over priced for what you get. They have an automatic 20% gratuity which is reasonable given the entertainment value, and in fact we tipped an additional 15% or so - the staff deserve it. That said, we will not return on our next visit.

Walked out

By AmyBGS |

I’ve heard many good things but I arrived with a reservation, and 20 minutes after being seated, wasn’t acknowledged on any way, while diners at tables around me were getting water and having drink orders taken. I went to the check in desk and told them I was leaving and why. The 3 staff at the desk just looked at me, and didn’t say a word, so I left. Beyond disappointing. Appalling customer service. Despite being disappointed, I wasn’t rude, just matter-of-fact in my tone. Instead of just walking out, I figured I’d give them my name so they could fill the table. I thought that was nice of me. The fact that nobody could acknowledge me was rather shocking. I travel to NYC frequently and have been accustomed to getting excellent customer service. All I can guess is that the staff here need to be trained in basic customer service skills.

So much fun!

By 520teresa2019 |

Everyone was friendly and the singers were fantastic. We would definitely go back our next trip to NYC!

What an experience!

By LiamMc97 |

We were one of the only ones in this restaurant, service was quick, food was absolutely delicious! The singing waiters/waitresses were unbelievable, a brilliant experience and we absolutely loved it, will definitely be back the next time we're in NYC!!

Great food and a fun show!

By MikeMfromWashDC |

I generally have low expectations for food in a restaurant with a show, so I was very pleasantly surprised at Gayle’s. The staff could not have been more friendly, including Gayle herself, and three of her adult children who work there. One minute our server is taking our order, and the next she’s belting out a popular showtime. All of the singers had real talent, and all the food we had was great. Try a specialty milkshake, too. Wow.

Talented Singers, Average Food, Overall Good Experience

By Travel3Kids |

We had a reservation and were seated immediately. We were not told about a time limit although we had tickets to a show so were hoping to be just an hour. Did not feel rushed. The staff was very talented and we heard a good number of diverse songs during our time there. The staff was very good with kids and my young adult daughter loved the experience. The volume is loud so talking was difficult but we were there for the singing so did not mind. Food was average. Would recommend to those who want a Broadway experience!

Gayle's Broadway Rose is the Place to Be!!!!

By Marie |

My friends and I had a wonderful experience here. It was so fun to see waiters sing while they get your food. It was a lot more quiet than the Stardust, which was nice so you can still talk to your friends. The waiters are broadway caliber and I can't wait to see where they go!! Food is great and the entertainment is even better! Nikita Burshteyn was our waiter and he was just terrific!! Definitely going to see his name in lights!

Gales broadway rose

Amazing experience Singing ability is incredible Definitely worth going Food was really lovely Very fast service Would highly recommend

Singing waitstaff - dinner and a show!

By Katherine |

WOW!!! Stopped in at Gayle’s Broadway Rose on my way to see Frozen and had the best time! Got an amazing milkshake and heard my favorite musical numbers sung by the most talented waitstaff I’ve ever seen. It turns out that it was opening day, and if this is just the beginning I can’t even imagine what this place will become in time! Definitely make sure to check this place out since I’m sure there will be lines around the block soon. I’m definitely coming back at least once more before I head back out of town, it’s my new favorite spot in the city. 10/10 would recommend!!

Fun time with singing servers - and gluten free options

By faz |

Fantastic time! Reservation is a must. Food was excellent and the servers/singers were so talented. Jacob was our server and he was so much fun. Many options if you need gluten free. We will visit again on our next trip

You will love it!!

By pinkjbanana |

If you love Broadway show tunes, a talented staff, friendly owners and good food this is the place for you in NYC! We were very satisfied and LOVED the personal attention! It’s kind of hidden on top of a deli but seek it out- you won’t be disappointed!

Food ok, singing servers amazing!

By Lilynavy |

We arrived for an early dinner so not much atmosphere but when more people joined and the singing servers settled in the performances were incredible, really enjoyable. We found the menu to be uninspiring and relatively expensive, although probably in keeping with Times Square and New York prices. The food was just ok. The toilet facilities were a bit grim, the corridor and doors open to the kitchen on the way exposed some less than clean areas, and the toilets themselves werent well kept. Service was excellent along with the performance - we all skipped out with smiles on our faces- but due to the food quality and state of the toilets I couldn’t give the place any more than average rating, I hope they take on board to up their game for the menus and pricing to match the quality of the servers!

Mediocre food and singing.

By Peter V |

Expectations were not high and they were not exceeded. The food was mediocre. The waiters did indeed sing. It is obvious why they are waiting in tables rather than singing in theaters. It was not always painful but often so. Still most diners sat raptly listening.

Excellent

By Wendy E |

Our new favorite NYC restaurant. Loved it! Staff are very talented and so friendly and fun. We can’t wait to come back!

Singers -Dinner- Milkshakes

By RosieZ R |

We ate dinner before seeing Wicked. Singing servers come around to each table. The Kids loved the milkshakes; they were huge. Sandrinne was our server! She has one of the most beautiful voices, definitely a future Broadway star! Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Singing Staff

By Paradise17456453702 |

Amazing singing staff and lovely food. Would 100% recommend a visit if you are in NY. Would advise to book a table as it was very busy. Unfortunately only 1 food photo as we were too busy recording the singing.

Would Highly Recommend

By Scottish Sharon |

I was here on 25th October 2019.We had been on Holiday to Toronto,Niagra Falls And New York.We booked this place which you can do online. We Travelled from Scotland. The Food Here is great.Milkshakes are to die for..The singing Waiters and Waitresses were outstanding and so entertaining, very friendly and funny. There is a similar place in New York and you can queue for an hour or so but this one is Thee Best by far.If your ever in New York you've got to go here for sure.I will certainly go back THANKS FOR A NIGHT I WILL NEVER FORGET.💋

No fun, pushy, rushed

By nikkers71 |

I’m never going to not enjoy great musical performers but firstly the song choices were poor. Only knew 2 or 3 of them. Nothing fun or happy all very “ dramatic”. Too long gaps between songs. I get the pass the hat but to be actually stopped in the middle of my meal and asked to give cash is completely unacceptable. Had they passed by with out pressure a few times I would have gladly given the extra tips. When I said I had no change I was advised to go to the cash machine! Food was OK was pressured to buy more drinks. Literally took the last bite of my entree and was asked if I’d like dessert. When I said I was done, (given I’d not had a second to digest my meal) the cheque was immediately given to me. 35 minutes after entering the restaurant. This place is trying to copy Ellen’s and while the food is better it’s had absolutely none of the fun or warmth.

So fun and wonderful talent!

By Stephanie W |

Our daughter asked to visit here again after coming in June 2022 and loving it. She follows several of the servers on social media. So, when we came to NYC for her birthday this year, I easily got reservations. As soon as walked to our table, Cara, one of the amazing performers, talked to our daughter forever, making her night! Petralina was our server, and they were superb. Sweet, helpful, and an amazing singer too! A birthday serenade for our daughter was the icing on the cake. Thank you, Petralina and Cara, for making this an evening we'll never forget! (Oh, the food was great too)

Good singing but food bad!

By Toni D |

The ambience and waiter were fun but the food not good. Celebrated daughter’s birthday as she is heavily into her musical theatre so she was super excited. The waitress was attentive but service was slow and the food was basic. I ordered a friedmans burger and it was literally a bun with a patty - no sauce - no garnish no nothing! Chips were over cooked and greasy, ended up with upset stomach. Daughter ordered the cookies and they were actually inedible (fair play they were taken off the bill but a total letdown). For what we got it was extortionate even by NYC prices. They add a 5% entertainment charge and then ask for money for the singers and if you don’t then the owner all but blanks you.

Fantastic

By Alison E |

Absolutely loved this place💙staff friendly, fun and so talented, the staff were happy to take requests and took time to chat, would definitely go back

Cabaret supper!

By 2013traveldoc |

I stumbled across this show when searching for somewhere unique to eat on our first night in Manhattan. The singers are all so talented and hit all the right notes and melodies. Food nice but the performances stole the show. Cocktails nice too. Try this place out!

MUST VISIT

By Brian R |

Gayle’s Broadway Rose was recommended to us by a couple we met on Long Island. We went there before we saw Just In Time, and we were blown away by the singing servers! The entertainment alone was worth the visit, but the food and drinks were also delicious! You MUST visit this restaurant when in NYC!!

Hands down the best singing server restaurant in New York City!

By Canadian Traveller |

was so excited to discover that my favourite restaurant for gluten free food that I discovered on our last visit to NY in 2019 had become an awesome Broadway singing server spot!! We had such a great dinner and experience at Gayle’s on our second night in the city. The fact that we could make a reservation and were seated promptly and with a smile is the first of many reasons this is the ONLY singing server restaurant near Time Square we will go to from now on!!! The servers are so talented and sang a wide range of songs. There was something for everyone from my 16-year-old daughter to my 70+ year old mother. My teen was a huge fan of one of the servers (who made her feel so special by sitting beside her and singing part of a song from Grease to her!) and when she looked her up online afterward she found the server is actually quite the music theatre celebrity! The food is really good and food allergies are super easily accommodated. Prices are very reasonable and it was great to have healthy options as well as ‘fun food’ choices. But most importantly they were SO KIND. The singing servers were really engaging and fun. Our server was very on-the-ball and we never felt like he was too busy to check on our table. Sadly, we had the exact opposite experience at the other (more well known) restaurant in NYC that has singing servers. We had a miserable experience at Ellen’s in 2019 after waiting in line for 2 hours at the request of our tired kids, only to be treated as sub-humans and paying up the nose for the privilege of being ignored and having entitled staff roll their eyes in our faces. We visited Ellen’s again this trip hoping for a better experience following our WONDERFUL time at Gayle’s. Again they were so rude to us at Ellen’s that we left 20 minutes into our visit, before someone even came to take our order, but after having multiple people speak to us as though we were pond scum and taunt us to our faces. At Gayle’s they made the experience super magical for my whole family and I strongly suggest you go there instead of the other place. Also you can make reservations!!!! No long lines!!!! Can’t wait to go back!!!

Dinner and a song!

By Roxanne M |

Wonderfully talented waitstaff! Food and a show! More elegant than the other singing waitstaff restaurant in town. Good food -great portions!

Wonderful singers and service. Food needs some improvement.

By Jimmy C |

Very nice family dinner. Service and singers were wonderful. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. It was a fun experience but the food wasn't great. Not bad but could be better. Overall a nice dinner.

Good entertainment

By Travel R |

Reservations are a must. Your seat time is limited to 80 minutes. Food is decent. Known for their malts. The singing is what it’s all about and that is fantastic. Competes with the Ellen’s Stardust but this one takes reservations whereas the Stardust doesn’t.

Fun experience!

By Trail673067 |

We have been to Gayle’s twice, once in September 2024 and once in January 2025. We had a great experience both times. In January we had a large group and service was fast and the food came out fresh and hot. We had a few vegans in our party and they had several options to choose from. You can get diner food like burgers but there are other things too. I had a kale salad with salmon, which was very tasty. Others enjoyed the Grain Bowl with salmon, the veggie burger, the veggie sandwich, fish and chips and a few of the sandwiches. The non vegan kids all loved the cookies and shakes - they do need to add a plant based/vegan friendly dessert! Entertainment is top notch and we all enjoyed the singing each time. Just make sure you are seated in the main dining area as most of the performing happens there.

60 minutes only allowed at each table. We were seated in the waiting area so didn’t see a thing

By Trish H |

VERY DISAPPOINTING. Gayle was in the house hassling customers for cash for the singers - pay your staff a decent wage - shame on you

Holy mid! 💀💀💀💀👹🔥🔥🔥🔥

By Gabriel C |

First of all I came as a group which means we had a limited menu, this meant that we had mid food and an ice cream sandwich for dessert. Overall I would not recommend coming in a large group since it was mid. Also the sing gave me headache and it was mostly Disney songs.

Perfect evening before our Broadway show

By Martine L |

The food was perfect. The servers were even more perfect so this made the experience one to remember. My step-grandson really enjoyed his experience before hitting his very first Broadway - Aladdin

Absolutely Wonderful!

By Larry F |

We had a great time! It was so fun, we had to go back a second time! This is a very special experience. The performers are extremely talented. They love to perform, and it shows. Their service is also exceptional. That is probably in part because they have such energy and joy doing what they love!!! They created a great night and great memories. A big thank you!

If You Love Broadway, This Is a MUST!!!

By jenr |

You MUST reserve a table at this restaurant the next time you are in town…do not take a chance that they will fill up, cause they will!!! The food was delicious, but the talent and atmosphere was AH-MAZING!!!! We could barely finish our food because we were singing along with the talented staff. This was such a fun dinner, better than we expected and we did NOT want to leave( we decided we need to let others enjoy it as much as we did). We hope to come back again soon!! Thanks Gayle and the rest of the crew for such a fabulous time!

So good I ended up there two days in a row

By micheleinohio |

Took my 16 year old son here before a Broadway play. We got there early and were the only ones there for a short time. That didn't stop them, they performed for just us and they were really great! The next night I had his twin brother and was going to head to Ellen's to see how it compared but it was packed so I took my other son and went back. Another great time! This place was great and the milkshakes are amazing!

What an Outstanding Night! … a must do on your NY Trip ❤️❤️❤️❤️

By Lia C |

This was the best evening! I have always been apprehensive about this concept mixing trying to eat and appreciate people performing all around me at the same time! We already knew the food was great at Friedmans so that was a good start! We had also heard that the singing at this restaurant was much more “Broadway” than Stardust Diner! We loved that you could book in advance as we def. did not want to be in a queue for hours. There is a QR code on table where all the performers CVs can be found! Our waitress was Allyson Gishi … she was soo lovely and sooo talented…. It was great giving whoops and hollers when she was singing! I think the highlight was when our waitress sang “What is this Feeling?” from Wicked with Caitlin Zerra Rose but esp. great when everyone joined in chorus parts! Another highlight was when all the Waitresses sang Six. … such great energy! They made me love Six and I do not like that musical! Looking on website they also have guys that work here too so I would want to go back every trip now as you would get a different show every time ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much .. just know we appreciate you guys performing and think you are all so talented!

Great for coeliacs, great for musical theatre lovers!

By Lavinia |

Amazing singing waiters… got to believe it to see it! They are your actual waiters, working hard to take your orders, get drinks, listen to your dietary requirements… and then they burst into song! Really excellent for people who are gluten free, excellent awareness and gluten free flags on gluten free dishes. What is also amazing is that you of course tip generously but otherwise you just pay for the cost of your meal. So this actually makes it all very good value!

Absolutely Delightful!!!

By Andy A |

We were looking for a nice pre-theatre lunch and had the remarkable good fortune of spotting The Roxy deli at 8th and 43d right in the heart of the theatre district. When we walked in we were invited to go upstairs to Gayle's Broadway Rose. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! Gayle greeted us and we quickly discovered that this was no ordinary dining experience. Think great NYC deli meets fantastic caberet show. The wait staff are all young performers, who are continuously singing a wide array of musical numbers from new and classic Broadway shows. The performers/wait staff are warm, friendly, charming, and also incredible singers! We actually lingered over our meal just to hear them perform a few more favorites. These are truly stars in the making and Gayle clearly has carefully selected a group of nice, gifted performers. There is no additional charge added to the check, so you get excellent well-priced food, a fantastic show, and are helping stars in the making. It was the first time I ever had someone standing beside me singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Mis while she prepared our check, but now it definitely will not be our last. Gayle's Broadway Rose is now our go-to place for lunch and pre-theatre/post-theatre meals. Check it out; I strongly suspect that it will become yours as well.

Excellent deli food with outstanding Broadway singing

By Diane T |

We ran into this new restaurant, and were so pleasantly surprised. Gayle came over and explained how she selected the wait staff, based on how well they could sing. And did they ever sing well. All three of our wait staff were better singers than those on our recent cruise. We had deli sandwiches, which were big enough to share. The Broadway tunes were a pleasant surprise. We were the last lunch table, and they passed a hat for tips for the singing, which we were happy to oblige. Definitely worth it. A truly unique New York experience.

Fun and Unique Dining Experience for the Whole Family

By Nichole |

During our family trip to New York City in April, we visited Gayle’s Broadway Rose and it was such a fun and unique experience. The energy in the restaurant was amazing, and the singing servers really made the visit something special. Our kids loved watching the talented performers sing Broadway hits while we enjoyed our meal. It felt like dinner and a show all in one. The atmosphere was upbeat and welcoming, and it was clear that the staff went out of their way to make it enjoyable for families. It was definitely one of the more memorable meals from our trip and a great way to add a little Broadway magic to our visit. Highly recommend it for families looking for something different and entertaining while in the city.

Good food, AMAZING performances, a must for musical fans

By Jonnyc1983 |

Honestly one of the best evenings we’ve had for a LONG time. We came to NY as a surprise birthday present for my 40th all planned around seeing the 20th Anniversary performance of Wicked the Musical and decided to visit Gayles, rather than another well known singing establishment, the evening before and we were not disappointed. The food was good but the performances by the Singing Servers were outstanding. I don’t think I could pick one person out although I would say Cara was excellent and really needs a turn as Glinda on Wicked (her voice is perfect for it - and we are a little biased as she was our waitress) and Josh has a gorgeous voice but the rest were equally amazing. The only slight annoyance we had was our mains came out before we finished our starters, (and we were on a smaller, round tall table so there wasn’t really the room for it) there was no need for it either as we stayed at our table from arrival until the final performance. All in all, if you’re a musical fan, this is highly recommended.

Go for the singing not the food

By Ella S |

Native New Yorker here! I've been trying to find my way to this restaurant for a long time, mostly because my family are Broadway nerds and we love the idea of Broadway singing waiters! Finally got a reservation before seeing shows. Pros: Singing waiters! They are extremely talented! I loved all the songs and they were really amazing Cons: Food - Really not good, sadly. I ordered the Ruben and the pastrami was a complete fat ball. It actually made me nauseous. The chips were stale. My kid ordered a burger and it was fast-food quality. We also ordered the $20 milk shake and I assumed it would be a sizable milkshake for that price. It came to the table in a small mason jar. Definitely not worth $20. I expected to pay a premium for the food for the singing waiters, but the food was ridiculously expensive given the low quality and the milkshake was just obnoxiously priced. Price - See above Tips - I didn't love it when a waiter came around with a hat asking for cash tips for the waiters. This put me on the spot and made me extremely uncomfortable. He stood at the table waiting for me to put some dollars into a hat. I don't usually have cash on me so this was off putting. I was prepared to tip extra on my bill for the waiters (they really do work hard!) but I didn't appreciate a hat in my face. I don't think I will return here but I'm glad I had a chance to watch the waiters in action. They are very talented.

Perfect Gluten Free Dinner with the singing servers!

By katielandis |

I recently had to a gluten free diet. It has been difficult to find good gluten free on this trip. The food here was amazing. Our server was super sweet and wickedly talented! We run a youth theater company back home. We loved the atmosphere and food!

A must for travelers and locals alike.

By platanutre |

Hidden in plain sight at the corner of 43rd and 8th, Gayle's Broadway Rose is an amazing experience for everyone looking for a nice meal and an amazing environment. Treat yourself to a nice meal and a scrumptious milk shake while enjoying tunes of waiters and waitresses with amazing vocal talent. Request your favorite Broadway tune and watch it come to live under the voice of these fine singers, who also happen to be servers. A great treat for both locals and tourists alike.

Didn’t meet expectations

By kerrie m |

The restaurant was very thorough in making sure we kept our booking, We received a couple message re our arrival being prompt as they would only hold the table for 15 mins. We arrived early and the front of house staff were uninterested and couldn’t find the booking ,they then kept us waiting 20 mins, ignoring us completely while looking at their phones. Once we were seated our server came over and was very nice. We placed our order and drinks arrived promptly. The food arrived it was plentiful but we had missing sides. The server failed to come and ask if we needed any sauces or to ask if everything was ok. We had finished before they reappeared. The food was hit and miss, brick chicken was nice and the fried chicken was nice but needed extra sauce. The fries were very greasy and tasted of old oil. The singers were very good but long gaps between songs and lots of standing around talking amongst themselves. The tip we wanted to leave reflected our feelings and our server made it plainly obvious they expected more (as did we) we gave more as we understand the tips are wage top ups. Such a shame it was our first night in NYC and we chose this restaurant experience and left very disappointed. There are much better options and won’t return.

Terrible food

By Liz S |

We made reservations to eat here as we heard about the singing waitstaff. They were fabulous and very entertaining! That's where it ended- the food was awful - we split the chicken schnitzel BLT and they never put the mayo or mustard on it and it was overcooked. The tomato soup tasted canned and was awful! The wedge salad was served as chopped romaine with sliced tomatoes and feta cheese- WTH? It didn't even coincide with the description on their menu.

Awesome Entertainment, Great food!

By Andrea A. |

The singing wait staff is the highlight of this place! They are all so talented, and their interaction with the guests makes it even better! The food was delicious as well!

Better than a Broadway Show

By Joe W |

We stopped into this deli before seeing a show on Broadway and were blown away by the singing waiters and waitresses. The food was very good NYC deli fare but what made it special were the waitstaff singing broadway tunes as they took orders and served food. Note, the singing only happens Thursday thru Saturday nights.

Such talented waitstaff! Unforgettable experience

By SoFlaFam |

This was one of the most unique experiences of our recent NYC trip. My theater-fan daughter was in awe over the talented waiters/waitresses...actually, we all were. Food was very good, but service was a little slow (which was understandable since the servers were singing their hearts out!)

Fabulous night at Gayles!

By Chrisp1965 |

Gayles Broadway Rose was recommended to us by a friend who had visited previously. It didn’t disappoint. We were seated in main dining area which was great to see all the singers perform. They were amazing and so talented. Food and drinks were really good. Met Gayle who was really lovely. Great part of our New York experience. Would highly recommend.

Lots of fun! Great food!

By Karen A |

We had a wonderful dinner here before going to a Broadway show. The staff were educated about food allergies and my daughter was even able to order a milkshake, with her nut allergies. A real treat! The singing waitstaff were fantastic, and loved that they incorporated some Disney songs, along with popular Broadway tunes. Lots of fun! Perfect to add to any trip to NYC, especially if you are a huge theatre fan!

If you like musicals, then

By Marc L |

If you like musicals, then thus is the place to be! The food is very good and while you are eating, you can listen to the life performances of the moust famous Broadwaysongs.

So good! Check the calendar!

By Christi S |

The talent here is amazing! Good food, yummy shakes. Sometimes it will say that it isn’t open on TripAdvisor or google but check the calendar! There are extra nights! A great find and not crowded.

Lacking Customer Service

By Mki0509 |

We were very excited to have dinner at Gayles Broadway Rose. Food was good and entertainment was fantastic! However, our waiter was a bit snarky and needed some training in customer service, leaving me to only give 3 stars. When he first came to take our order I asked if there were any kid menus. His response was, “No, if we had kid menus, we would have handed them to you.” Not a big deal that the kids had to order off the regular menu, but a simple no would have sufficed. Then when he took our meal order my dad and husband each ordered a drink from the bar. After we received our meal and we’re halfway through eating he comes back to apologize that they had not yet received their drinks due to a backup at the bar. He asks my husband if he still wants the beer. My husband asks if his drink will arrive before he’s finished eating. The waiter says they are making it now. My husbands replies that he only wants the beer if it comes before he’s finished his meal. The waiter replies, “so do you want it or not?” My husband then just replies “no”. Then a few minutes later the waiter brings my husband the beer anyway. I’m sure the waiter was trying to be nice, but my husband was already annoyed at this point and even more so after he brought the beer to the table after saying he said he no longer wanted it. (Husband was pretty much done meal at this point and the waiter said nothing about it being on the house) When the waiter brought the bill he did take off my husbands beer and dad’s coffee without us asking which was nice. I understand it’s a face paced environment to work in, but the snarky comments were really unnecessary and if he didn't know when the drinks were coming he should have just been upfront and said he didn't know. Which we would of understood, or said from the beginning the drink is on the house if you still want it. I try to take into consideration that being a waiter is not their life goal, but a little more customer service training would go a long way. Would have probably been more of a 5 star experience with a better waiter. At the end of a tiring day walking all around NYC, and really looking forward to trying out this restaurant, it was disappointing to end up with a rude waiter.

2nd visit and Did not disappoint again

By JMarisa23 |

My last review had a few typos so i wanted to write another. I absolutely love this place and wish more people knew about it instead of waiting on line at Stardust. Food is better here too. Staff is super friendly. I took my friends before a show and they all had a great time. Staff is so talented and fun. I just love Tori. Quentin & Jesse. We took cool pix with them and they came over to us a few times. Jeff was very helpful & Quentin even remembered from my last visit and my mom. Cool place for before a bway show or just after work. I wish they were open more days though. When i checked the calendar it only had evenings and weekends but I am assuming that just might be for now until they get more popular since people mostly know about Stardust. I will try to get the word out to the guests at the hotel I work at.

Disappointing and expensive experience

By Susan S |

We made our reservation well in advance based on following on Instagram. Arrived on time and asked to wait, no greeting and no smile. Told that we would only have 60 min at our table!!!!! I have never ever been greeted like that. Sets a bad tone. We order drinks and of course rushed to order food with our time limit. I will say the talent is excellent. After only two songs spaced out by 10 min where they promote the $20 milkshakes to the youngsters, Gayle comes around asking for extra tips for the waiters. I was confused and said we would tip at the end and she was rude. We spent over $200 for 4 people, enjoyed 5 songs and were rushed out. Food was ok. This was a one and done. Ellen’s Stardust Diner provides much more joy for your money.

broadway lover's dream

By scbeaches |

talent is fabulous, food is good... not a quiet evening if that's what you're looking for. we had the BLAT and the grain bowl w tofu. we also had the bee sting and cherry fizz, both tasty.

Good but not great.

By Lisa O |

Changed to this one as Ellen’s Stardust Diner reviews had gone downhill. Menu quite limited especially if you don’t like burgers. Singers great but 6,30pm on a Thursday wasn’t much atmosphere.

Great singers

By Joe F |

It was a great time with our family of 17, booking a reservation was relatively easy. Full menu was available and the singers stopped by our tables and performed for our grandchildren. It was a super experience, singers were excellent!

Outstanding Performers

By soccermom182017 |

A must see in NYC. The performers are unbelievable. So very talented you felt like you were at a Broadway show. Atmosphere was Broadway electric. We had reservations which I recommend because the wait time to get in without a reservation was 2 hours. The hostess up front really was not that pleasant but it’s probably due to how busy it was. If you go here just know you are coming for the performance and desserts. The main courses were not that good. We ordered Fish and Chips, hamburger and chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was the best item. Desserts outstanding. Waiters outstanding. Definitely would recommend the restaurant performances outweighed the food.

Unwelcoming Service

By Emlevs |

I booked for table for 1. I was sat at the bar, which I didn’t mind, I understood I was only one person and I didn’t want to take a full table. However, after being seated, the bar man was ridiculously rude to me, telling me the seat was reserved. I explained I had just been sat down by one of their colleagues, to which he disregarded and made me feel so unwelcome as if I was lying to him. I asked another staff member what the issue was and if I was allowed to sit here, to which, they were also extremely rude, shrugged their shoulders at me and told me not to block the walkway and then walked off. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant before. The singers were brilliant, but a lot of them only sing to the tables and ignore the people at the bar so it is like you are watching a show you were not invited to. The food was alright, nothing to shout about but they do a lot of gluten free options which is hard to come about in NY so that is a bonus. Otherwise, it was very clear the restaurant takes advantage of the tourists and has no real care in their service towards the customers, just happy to take their money and tips.

Tasty food in a drying environment!!

By Beatriz d |

The service is very good and the food is delicious but the time the customer can stay at the tables is controlled in the minute! Vc has to order the dish and finish the meal in an hour exactly! Maybe even because no one can stay longer listening to music in an absurd volume for longer!

Great entertainment

By Tiffbooch |

Took my theater kid here for a little dinner before a show and she absolutely loved it! The waiters and waitresses were all so very nice and so talented! We had a great time watching them perform! The food is just ok. The menu they give you in from the Roxy deli. And all of the food comes up from there. I had a dissapointing open faced sandwich that came out almost 20 mins after my daughters meal came out. I’d say go for the entertainment and their shakes and have dinner somewhere else!

Singing Restaurant

By June D |

Read poor reviews about Ellen's Broadway Diner and decided to go here instead. Fantastic choice - would definitely recommend this. Food was good but the singing was absolutely brilliant. When we visited there was Tori, Nikita and Quentin "Dimples". All 3 had great personalities and took time to talk to me and my daughter - loved it. A wee girls face when she came in dressed as a character from Frozen and they were singing one of the songs from the musical was priceless - they sang it directly to her.

Just brilliant

By Traveler326375 |

We loved it here! The servers seem to genuinely love their job. Whilst providing a professional service, bursting into song they were also supporting their colleagues and singing and dancing along which added to the atmosphere here. The food was really nice, and our waiter, Aaron was really friendly and so talented, we all really enjoyed his version of copacabana !

Favorite part of my daughter's birthday weekend

By LRTrego |

This was seriously the highlight of our day! We were visiting NYC for my daughters first NYC trip and it was her 9th birthday today. They sang directly to Sofia SO many times and she loved every second of it. She could not stop smiling! The staff were ALL so friendly and made her feel so special. Thanks for making Sofia’s 9th birthday so great! We can’t wait to return again!

Great service, delicious food, and stellar entertainment!

By Fred B |

Awesome surprise to stumble on Gayle’s gem of a restaurant. We had heard of Stardust on Broadway and after seeing a 50 person line waiting to get into that venue, we called up Gayle’s (which actually takes reservations) and my family of five (with three teenagers) all loved it. Food was very tasty and the service was excellent. Brian, our waiter, was a dead on ringer for Lin Manuel Miranda. So talented…and friendly! Highly recommend this great spot!

Unfortunate

By Gary G |

We were so excited to go to this dinner after seeing it on social media, so booked a table as soon as the system allowed. We got a text 30 mins before to tell us that there were no tables and that we would need to be sat at the bar to served our meals. that wasn't for me when we arrived the space at the bar was terrible and was not suitable for us, we asked if we could even wait a little longer for an actual table and as told quite rudely no, we just left, such a shame. Back to Ellens we went.

What a fun time!

By Ryan J |

We walked over to see some good singing and thats what we found. Had some good sandwiches and some excellent chicken wings. Really enjoyed the songs and had a good time, fun for families too.

Disappointing

By J F |

We recently had a reservation for Saturday Night at Gayle’s Broadway Rose that we made at the beginning of March for the middle of April. We had set it up as a special night for our daughter who had really liked Gayle's when we had been there in the past. All of us had really enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the amazing performers. However, on this occasion, we found the whole evening lacking. First, we were seated at the front of the restaurant on the other side of the bar away from the main dining area. While the performers did sometimes come through our area, it was impossible to see most of the performances especially once the bar filled up. We asked to have one of the several free tables in the front section but we were told that those were not available. We would have understood if we had made our reservation last minute but as mentioned previously, we had made it more than a month in advance. Once we sat down at our table, we found that unlike our prior experience where the night was set up to be semi-lingering, so you could eat and enjoy the music, we were instead rushed through the entire experience. The minute that we sat down, our waitress wanted us to place our orders immediately before we really even had a chance to look at the menu. She said it was because there was a large party in the other main room that could delay us getting our food. Since we had previously eaten there, we did know what we were going to order so we acquiesced. Our order came out in a matter of minutes. While we ate and tried to enjoy what we could see of the show, the busboys kept coming around wanting to clear our plates even though we weren’t done yet. As soon as they cleared our plates, they wanted us to order dessert immediately and brought it out very quickly. We got our check before we even finished our desserts. Finally, the manager interrupted us listening to a performance to ask us to move to the bar because they had another large group that they wanted to sit and we were preventing them from sitting because we were at one of the tables. While this was not an unreasonable request, we began to look back at our evening at Gayle’s and realized that they had been rushing our meal the entire time. My daughter was not even finished with her milkshake when they wanted us to leave our table. They did offer to buy us three drinks to enjoy at the bar but by that point we were so irritated with our evening we chose to leave. Despite how much we have enjoyed the performances in the past, I don’t think we will return again.

Dinner and a song!

By MillsMama |

Make a reservation for sure! Food came out very quickly, even before our drinks! The chocolate milkshake at the end was great too! Super friendly and helpful waiter, and the lively, singing atmosphere was so fun!

Be careful with reservations and strict table time limit

By Gary G |

Had a reservation for weeks, to be text 60 mins prior advising effectively they had over booked and we may be sat at the bar... Turned up and right enough sat at the bar, even though emtpy tables, I asked if we could sit at a table they advised no,told them I wasn't prepared to have our dinner at the bar, they also told us it is a strict 60 mins only on all tables... We left very very disappointed without eating... Not a great system at all

Well worth it!

By Jenn H |

This place is a lot of fun. Yes, it’s a tourist attraction, but well worth the visit. We made a reservation and our family of six was seated within a couple minutes. We had a hangry kid and they brought French fries immediately. Food also came fast. Cocktails were decent. The best part is the waitstaff sings all the best musical hits from My Fair Lady to Shrek. And man can they sing! If you like Broadway, you should love this place. We thought the kids would be less than impressed but they loved it too. The waiters engage you while they sing and it’s just a great vibe. Loud, but fun. Food was large portions and good. And the milkshakes were outrageous. Everyone was stuffed and happy. Oh and it was my spouses’ birthday so she and two other parties got a nice song just for them. They told us we had 80 minutes to eat when they sat us and we went over a little because our waiter took awhile to get back to us between all his songs. No time police came though, and we didn’t mind. More songs! The milkshakes took awhile. Overall, these are amazingly talented people disguised as waitstaff. (There are a ton of food runners) and it was such a fun time. Warning: New York prices. Enjoy!!

Best Part of our Trip!

By Colleen Nappi |

Wow! This place is phenomenal! We took a group of theatre kids on a day trip to the city to catch an off-broadway show and take in the holiday sights. Because it was such a large group and a very busy tourist weekend, I wanted to make sure we had dinner reservations in advance. They took our reservation and were highly accommodating. As soon as we arrived, our servers, Jesse and Caitlyn made us feel very welcome and continued to impress us all night with their amazing performances. All of the wait staff was extremely talented. Also, Gayle personally came around to all the tables to welcome guests. The menu had a good variety of choices and was reasonably priced. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had the best time here and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended.

Unique experience!

By Cache |

If you love musicals, you need to eat at Gayle’s Broadway Rose. Great food…excellent people…and such talented singers! So much fun to see our waiter perform while we were there (he was incredible!). Also had the best non-alcoholic cocktail of my trip here as well. Make sure to make reservations in advance.

A Wonderful Experience

By lds1960 |

This was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Seated immediately and were treated to one song after another sung to perfection. The singers were so engaging and made a special night even more special. Shout to Alyssa, our server.

What a great place!!!

By Teresa C |

We had dinner here with my family and it was so much fun!! We did not want to leave!! The food and shakes were great but the singing waiters were AMAZING!! Our waiter was Nikita and he made this so much fun for my family! We were going to show after and we felt like we got to see another show before with all of our favorite broadway tunes!!

Great place!!!

By Mike G |

This is a really cool place, especially if you are seeing a show. The food was excellent and the singing was amazing. Great “opening act” for a show. Our 11 year old daughter especially loved it. Never had a $15 milkshake before ($20 if you add alcohol) but it was worth it. Had soup, split a salad and had a milkshake and I was stuffed. No wait to get in but go soon as this place is destined to become a new hot spot. I am concerned that we won’t be able to get in next we see a show.

Great food, great show, Broadway experience

By ashleybedgell |

We had such a great experience! Key word “experience.” It was more than just dinner. The food was delicious and good portions. The grain bowl with chicken was so filling and so delicious . Our waitress was amazing and friendly . They waiters and waitresses take turns singing Broadway show tunes! So much talent and delicious food. Fun for all ages! It’s a show before your show. The food was a little pricey but I think that’s expected considering its location.

Great overall experience!

By BBGRL |

We had a great time! The turkey burger was delicious, it was well seasoned and huge! It was too much for me to finish in one setting with the fries! The sweet potato fries were delicious. The wait staff was fantastic! Their voice were absolutely beautiful, this was such a great experience, I can’t wait to go back!

So much fun!

By WareySydney |

A really fun evening! We arrived early, which I recommend, as the wait staff have much more time to sing when there aren’t as many tables to wait. We had so much fun, and our two girls (7 and 10) developed quite a soft spot for Jessie. Completely recommend it for a fun and happy night out for everyone - great singing and super friendly staff!

A GIFT OF A RESTAURANT!

By Melanie G |

OMG! This place set the tone for our trip this time round! Talk about getting a show before the show we went to see on Broadway! Our waitress, Miranda, was not only a superb waitress, but she sang her heart out (brilliantly!!) and then walked back to us, humble as pie, and asked ‘can I get you anything else?!’ 😆 ‘I’ll take a slice of your voice, please!!’ She also had another waitress sing a Cabaret song by request of myself Andy 13yr old theatre obsessed kiddo, and the waitress came over and sang it to him! Just amazing all round. Definitely coming back for more! Food was great too (ribs to die for)!!

Friendly n fun singing wait staff

By JMarisa23 |

I passed this every day and wanted to check it out. I love the concept n stardust is fun too bit further away n long waits. This place took A reservation n we didn't have to wait. The Staff was so friendly n talented. We had a great time. More petiole know about this place. after I passed stardust n saw a crazy line. If I wasn't in a car I would've told them to run over to gayles instead n not waste time waiting. I'm sure they will get busy Too one petiole find out about it but I was happy to get to experience it now n take my mom. Quentin loved her n kept coming to our table. even hugged her goodbye. Moms A singer too. N our waitress Tori was so sweet n talented too. Even Gayle herself spoke with us n was so sweet. Wish the staff all Luck getting casted into shows.

Great Entertainment for my group! Awesome staff! Tasty food!

By BethlehmiteAmy |

I recently brought a group of ten teenagers to eat at Gayle's Broadway Rose. The singing staff is incredibly talented and super personable. The food was good. The management responded quickly to my email requests and easily accommodated my group.

Great New Find!!!

By jb1014nj |

I don’t write a lot of reviews, but our first experience here was a great one!!! My daughter is a huge Broadway fan. We’ve been to Ellen’s Stardust a few times, but they mix Broadway tunes with popular music. I’m sure that appeals to a wider audience, but for a theater fan, Gayle’s is the better choice. We were seeing Wicked later that evening and they sang 4 songs from that show alone in the 90 minutes we were there. All the waiters/waitresses had amazing voices and personalities. They love their jobs and performing!. I think it’s relatively new, and it wasn’t overly crowded (like The Stardust can be). I’m sure it will become more popular. Food was good. I ordered a $15 milkshake. It was yummy, but a novelty. I wouldn’t do it again All in all, great experience. We will be back soon!

Great Food....and Entertainment

By cwhite8181 |

Ate here for lunch before going to Atkinson Theatre for Waitress. Restaurant is wonderfully located right near Broadway. Menu is great and reasonable. Added bonus is definitely the waiter and waitresses singing Broadway and other songs during meal. One minute serving you, the next grabbing a microphone and singing. So extra special!! Enjoy!

Nice but not great.

By Carol |

The entertainment was fabulous and several cast members were exceptional but the food was average and served quick and bland. Not memorable at all. This was our first “nice” meal in NY for this trip for supper but wished we had tried it for a brunch instead.

Great place

By Am3008 |

Absolutely brilliant experience. Whatever anyone says the food is excellent and the staff are extremely talented. We absolutely loved the atmosphere of the place and U would highly recommend!

Incredible singing, awful service

By Alfjbr |

We arrived for our reservation and were greeted well, sat at a table as we had reserved a bar space/table for drinks in advance. The server seemed uncomfortable with us taking up a 4 top table so I offered to move to the bar (which I was happy to do) after ordering two drinks and a slice of cheesecake. I received my lemonade and asked the lady behind the bar if it contained barley as I’d forgotten to ask the server and I can’t have barley, she rudely told me to ask my waiter as he was the one serving me, I couldn’t get his attention so asked a different waiter and he went off to find out and never returned. After around 45 minutes we asked for the bill having not received our cheesecake and still no answer about the drink. Then the original waiter returned and was interested in serving us our cheesecake. We politely declined and he took it from our bill. The singing and atmosphere was incredible but we were so so disappointed in our experience.

Great Evening Meal Experience

By ClarkeyFamily |

Visited as a family of 5, with 3 teenagers (2 of which are boys and not interested in musicals in the slightest). We had a great time! The singers were absolutely insane and we knew 95% of the songs. The food was great too! The boys were even impressed! Definitely advise booking to ensure you get a table as was very busy when we visited.

Amazing Broadway Talent and Great Overall Experience!

By Dean S |

Found this amazing gem of a restaurant with incredible Broadway caliber talent. I spent 2 hours being serenaded by the best vocalists I have heard in a long time. A show in itself. Plus the food was decent too! So nice to meet Gayle and her family works there also. It makes a difference when the folks running the show actually care. I'm telling everyone I know about it and just hope I don't have to wait in line next time I go.

Entertaining and great service!!

By Marc Y |

We stopped in for a late lunch today and had an awesome time!! All 4 in my family (2 adults, 9, and 11 year old kids) really enjoyed the food and show tunes! A couple of the tunes were excellently performed!! Some real off broadway talent and decent food...can’t go wrong!

So much fun

By Javisdad |

I was skeptical about this place but my family wanted to go. I read some mixed reviews and was apprehensive. Turns out, I was wrong. It was so fun. The waiters were so talented and fun. I even met Gayle herself. The food was good, but we were so caught up in the waiters singing that it was secondary. My teens loved it and raved about it afterwards. The songs were crowd pleasers and some lesser known songs, but it just happened that one song was one of our favorites. My wife and one of the teens were driven to tears by favorite songs. Truly one of the best things we did.

Over rated

By CDB |

I made reservations several weeks in advance as I had heard good things about this place. We arrived and were shown to a table not in the main dining area but in the bar area with chairs that had our backs to the restaurant where you are unable to see. When we asked to be seated at another table the hostess refused (though there were several empty table around us). Our server was rude and uninterested in providing service. The attendant circled the tables waiting for you to finish eating so they could pre-bus the table and get you out. Another table around us complained as it was a very unwelcoming environment. On the positive side the food was good and we enjoyed the singers that did stop in our area. Overall, the experience was a huge let down.

Overall fun experience

By Kathy H |

The food was good and the performers were incredible. However, it was uncomfortably hot inside. We were also seated at a table behind the bar and the performers rarely came back there, so it was rather disappointing.

Talented waitstaff!

By Debbie |

This restaurant is a great choice for those who love musical theater. The caliber of their talented singing waiters/waitresses is quite high. One of them is an “America’s Got Talent” semi -finalist. The food is good. It comes out quickly which is important if you are trying to catch a show. I really appreciate that they take reservations unlike Ellen’s Stardust Diner. They do come to the tables with a hat and ask for cash tips but they are not pushy. My only critique is that their sound system is a little too loud. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Hotel Edison near the Lena Horne Theater.

Excellent singing and meal

By Mike H |

This is quite a new place (only open for about 7 months) and the only real competitor to Ellen's Stardust Diner (which we also visited and enjoyed). When we went it was very early evening and not too full. Overall we had an excellent experience. The food was very good and the singing was excellent. The milkshakes are a particularly great experience! We also met Gayle who was really nice when she came over and said hello. So if you are looking for somewhere without the queues of Ellen's, but with the same high quality entertainment, you should give it a try.

Nice idea, just very bad service.

By Kathy W |

This should have been a 5 star review. Great singing. Good food. So what went wrong? Service. I arrived with my group at 6:15pm. We were told, “We’ll seat you at 6:30pm.” We didn’t get seated until 6:50pm. Another group arrived at 6:40pm and was seated BEFORE my group. We didn’t get food until 7:34pm. Not once was there an apology to acknowledge their poor service. Don’t lie to customers. We’re going to notice. Just be honest. Apologize. Don’t say “a few minutes” when you don’t really know the answers to questions. This was my group’s last day of their trip on the East Coast. Very disappointed.

My favorite dinner in NYC

Broadway dining, quality food.

By Jwalk23 |

We were in town to see Hamilton and wanted my daughter and I to have the Broadway dining experience. First looked into Ellen’s Stardust Diner but for the price, Gayle’s food seemed to be of better quality from looking at pictures. I am glad we chose Gayle’s. Delicious food and great entertainment.
