Great for breakfast or lunch. Be prepared to wait for a table. There is upstairs seating as well, but the tables are really cramped together. Gluten free options are available. The gluten free French toast was delicious

Everything you'd expect for an American breakfast like you'd expect. Besides, the place is crowded, which is a good sign. Opulent fruit bowls, pancakes, waffles, eggs in all forms, bagels... We don't know where to put our heads. The service is a bit hasty, considering the success of the place. Do not expect a very cozy or cocoon decor.

I visited George’s August 2019. The restaurant was conveniently located near the hotel that I stayed in (Holiday Inn-wall St). The food is okay, I think it’s “hit and miss.” The syrup was a little watery (a miss) when I visited . I guess it’s homemade? The egg sandwich was great. We also enjoyed the avocado toast. I ordered a $5 Sangria, which was pretty much water with a little flavor (but it was only $5 at a diner). I would give them a second chance. My daughter ordered the pancakes and said they were good. I enjoyed the 80s vibe of the diner, from the music to the decor.. I lived in NY briefly in the 80s and the restaurant gave me nostalgia.

Decent food, but nothing overly special. Busy place though, and conveniently located not far from Stanley Park. Service good.

We always love to come here. Has a great buzz but shows how popular it is, so be prepared to wait even outside. Normally turnaround is very quick, so we never waited longer than 30 mins. If the wait is too long, get yourself a coffee and a muffin at the bar whilst waiting. But then be aware that the portions are soooo big, that you need plenty of appetite to go for one of the big plates! We tried a few things and loved them all. Only the Nutella stuffed French toast was lacking Nutella, but we got extra Nutella on request. They are nice and service is quick! Refill of coffee is generous and a great start before walking off your 1000 calories in great New York City. We will be back!

Dropped in there for breakfast on a Saturday morning as we really wanted to experience a traditional New York diner. We weren’t disappointed. Hearty portions cooked well and served promptly with courtesy. Classic American-style re-filling of your coffee cup at no extra charge. Corned beef hash for one of us and double poached egg with bacon for the other, supplemented with toast, kept us fuelled right through to the evening. Plenty of fascinating sports memorabilia on display, and they even had a tv showing a live English Premiership match. Only ten minutes walk down to the Staten Island free ferry, and ten minutes walk back up to the World Trade Centre. Great location in an older, characterful area of lower Manhattan. Nice place. Great value for money.

Always reliable for a quick and delicious breakfast. Especially good when hung over from the previous night :-).

We wanted to spend little on our trip to NY, but also try everything and have some American experiences. We stayed on Wall Street and George's was close by. Diner with an impressive turnover of people. Very professional. Eaten well. Huge choice. Diner but also structured as a restaurant. Always a queue but it's fast.

awesome food with great vegan options, very friendly staff, great atmosphere, excellent value for money

The service from the hostess to the waiter was above the call and unbelievably awesome. The food was large and plentiful and fairly priced. We wish we had a george's in our town in vermont

stopped before the 9/11 tribute museum for a quick lunch with the family. massive menu with lots of options, large portions of really tasty food and reasonable prices! we all really enjoyed our lunches and would recommend!!

I stopped at George's when I got into the city this morning from Staten Island. They have indoor, upstairs and outdoor seating. We were seated upstairs where the server come over quickly. I had a coffee and breakfast wrap. Mom had an iced latte and an apple cinnamon waffle. Both were tasty and came out fast. Prices are fair. They do include a credit card fee in the check but we paid cash and used the fee as part of the tip. Would go back on another trip to the area.

During our New York stay, we called at George's twice for breakfast. It's only a few minutes walk from either Battery Park or the 9/11 Memorial. Both times, the breakfasts were amazing. My wife and 8 year old son really enjoyed it and so did I. It felt like a proper American diner. It was really busy both mornings with New Yorkers. I'd definitely recommend their omelettes and their bagels. The pancakes were great too. If you're spending a few days in New York then get yourself to George's! You won't regret it.

I’m a well seasoned NYC visitor and love the oodles of foodie options here! I am on a 4 day trip with my 16 year old son and we are smitten by George’s - to the degree that we are on auto pilot here daily! The atmosphere is awesome - crowded, fun, lively, 80s music playing. Staff is excellent and food arrives FAST! You will likely sit super close to other patrons - this is not abnormal in NYC and I can assure you that no one is even noticing you 😃. Go for the Waffle Deluxe - it’s gorgeous and nicely arranged with ham, bacon, and sausage. The sausage is the best you will find anywhere!!!! Prices are great, service is excellent and food cannot be beaten!!!

The premises has two floors, in each there is a toilet for both genders. The breakfast menu is Ta very wide. The waiters mostly speak Spanish. Several dishes were ordered, the burger is huge, I had to break the meat in half and remove one of the breads to reach to bite it. The milkshake is very good. Breakfast was normal, however it is an option if you are about to go to the wall street area.

George’s has by far the best service of any restaurant in Manhattan. The staff was very attentive and pleasant. The menu has so many options and the food is very good.

We stumbled upon this place in search of lunch before taking the Statten Island ferry and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered two Reuben sandwiches, a wrap and a special between four of us. My advice, is share! The food was freshly prepared and super tasty but portions were huge. Service was great. Absolutely no complaints just be warned!

We wanted an NYC diner experience, and got one! During our meal, the owner came out to visit with patrons, and gave a better narrative about 9/11 and the aftermath than the museum - he shared his personal stories (he is in the museum) and a favorite photo that captures the hope he wants imbued in the area. Loved that we ate at the original location and that it's a third generation family restuarant.

Short wait times to be seated and for the food. We had breakfast of which there is a vast menu for with all the food being perfect. Drinks were refillable and was a perfect morning meal for a south Manhattan day out.

A must in New York, hearty meal, welcoming staff with a quick hello to Eddy! Friendly atmosphere, I highly recommend

We needed a full breakfast before heading to the airport and a long day of travel. The staff at George’s was friendly and attentive. Menu was huge and everyone was able to get something they liked. There were many other families there, too. Solid choice at reasonable prices.

Cons and then Pros *** odd charges and odd behavior, no split checks, Rush Rush to order!!! First of all, we wanted so badly to eat here/go here. We were sat, and asked if we were ready to order food before getting drinks. Then, server finally brings drinks, asks again if we are ready to order. We asked for a few minutes. What happened in the next 4-6 minutes was so odd we were puzzled and felt harassed. 4-5 other servers approached us, each every minute or so and said “Are you ready? Are you ready? Are you ready yet to Order? The menu is huge, and with a special diet for some with restrictions, this takes time to “look” Over. I was a server for years, and even for me, this was blatantly odd and rude behavior. When the original server returned on Maybe 7-10 minutes in, he was rolling his eyes and smirking and was visibly irritated. Half of the listed beers weren’t available to order, which also irritated him that I asked for things they didn’t have. Others in our party were told “We Don’t Split Checks” so the entire bill was placed on my family. Then when the check arrived, a mysterious $4-$5 charge was added and said “if you pay cash we’ll credit this charge.” … like wait, I’m sorry, what?? Pros The food was decent Could having 6-7 different servers approaching you be terrible? 😂🤷♀️ while it was harassing and odd, we could have been ignored I suppose, but this was still weird. Overall, skip it. Way too sketchy! My son saw him put a sign into the menu to show us the mysterious charge was listed there on arrival, although it wasn’t

We went and had breakfast here before going to the Memorial ponds and 9/11 museum. They were busy but served a good big reasonable breakfast.

Enjoy the New York experience here. Good food, good service, endless refills - you can’t go wrong. Bit of a queue at the weekends, but not too bad - helps with the appetite, which you’ll need. Worth a visit.

we just had some delicious pancakes at this diner.. simple food and we loved the interior of the place... just like the movies.. Spot on!

Called to George’s for Brunch, the staff where really friendly and food was top quality, I would recommend the George’s Steak Sandwich.

We decided to go here on our last day as the reviews were good. When we arrived there was a queue and you had to put your name on a list. Breakfast was good, although the scrambled eggs were a bit dry. Good service, the staff are literally non-stop. Well worth a visit.

A great local spot with friendly servers and excellent home cooked food , we ate here all three mornings we stayed on New York

Good old fashion diner I like. Very good for breakfasts! Benedict eggs seem delicious, hope you’ll get a chance to try them (I didn’t).

Hard to pay New York prices for just ok food/service. * Food was lacking, I was fairly happy with my entree, but the rest of my party wasn't thrilled with theirs. - Iced tea taste like water, with a weird after taste - Hamburger was burnt - FYI - soft drinks arent fountain--they are served in a can (over 2.50 a can) * Service was lacking - Didn't receive my "full" meal and dressing was wrong - Asked for pickles on sandwich, you get a spear (not explained when ordering) - Unclear process upon arrival and waited a bit for check.

NY food is different than what I am used to. With that said, I ordered an omelet. It came as just scrambled eggs that were very greasy. Hash browns were just boasted potatoes, and bacon was not done. The only good thing about my breakfast was the fresh squeezed juice. Service was ok, but I like not having to ask to have your drink refilled

Lovely waiting staff, very friendly, very efficient, relaxed atmosphere, great breakfast coffee and juice - set up for the day ahead!

We had breakfast at George's throughout our stay in New York. The menu is rich: from sweet to savory, with typical American breakfasts. Portions are plentiful. The service is fast and the staff friendly and efficient.

An early start on our first full day in New York found us at George's not long after it had opened for breakfast, when the ground floor was already filling up with regulars, so we were directed upstairs which soon began to fill up also with a mixture of locals on their way to work and tourists like us, but all pointing to the popularity of George's. A large omelette and an English muffin with bacon and scrambled eggs, both served with a cold potato side, plus juices and coffees, set us up for our first day of exploration around Manhattan. Definitely worth a visit.

Great service, a lot of good options on the menu and the coffee was great. Has myself a classic over easy and bacon with home fries. Their breakfast are top notch. The staff was friendly. Will recommend if anyone is visiting in the FiDi.

We went here instead of paying for breakfast at our hotel. There is so much choice. It is a little costly but worth it I think. I would recommend for breakfast the lunch menu also looked good but didn't eat so can't say.

We stopped at George’s for breakfast before walking around NYC. The food was ok, but not what I expected given the reviews. My wife had a breakfast sandwich with some breakfast potatoes and I had a steak and cheese omelet. The steak in the omelet was tough and the potatoes were overcooked. Service was also lacking. Not bad mind you, it just took a long time for them to fill our coffee and get simple things like hot sauce. Should have gone to the deli across the street.

Went to George‘s briefly to grab a bite in the evening as it was close to our hotel. Service was friendly and quick. Selection is quite large from Omelettes to sandwiches and burgers. All quite simple and classic stuff. We had some different kinds of burgers and they were great. Nothing fancy but we all know that you can also mess up a classic burger quite badly but George‘s burgers (and fries) were close to awesomeness. The place was not too cheap but you get good quality for it at this location.

Great location, Service was excellent, and food was great (Good portion sizes too) Will definately be going again on my next visit

This place is awesome and affordable. We were a group of 9, all our food was super tasty and service super quick. We all will be back and wish we had a george's in dallas

Pretty disappointing… Food was very expensive for what it was - average and bland. It was 57 dollars for 2 mains and 2 orange juices (orange juices alone were 17 dollars). Which were offered before we were given menus so we couldn’t see the price. It felt like our server just wanted us out of there. He was very blunt and unfriendly, I asked for an extra minute to look over the menu and he came back within 30 seconds. I wouldn’t recommend or return

We were spending a few days in lower Manhattan and did a search from our hotel room for a recommended place where we could sit and enjoy breakfast. GEORGES came up in the search that included a wealth of positive reviews. We arrived around 8 a.m. on a Tuesday morning and were immediately seated. I ordered the Avocado Eggs Benedict and my girlfriend ordered a western omelet. The food was quite good and the waiter came around often to refill our coffee which is always an essential. I wouldn't say this is the best diner-type food I have ever had, but for a NYC location, it's very inexpensive to eat here and our breakfast was very delicious. Service was also excellent. We would definitely come back!

We had breakfast before rush hour on a Saturday. This dinner is a sure bet. Rates are normal for the city. Avocado eggs benedict, coffee, egg sandwiches and pancakes: $50. Good plan.

Can't go wrong at this unassuming joint. Everything we ordered was very good! We'll be back again for sure!

Me and a my family are visiting downtown for a few days and we came across this restaurant for breakfast. Great hostess for seating us right away and the waiter was extremely nice and gave us a lot of option for the food. I had the Waffle with bacon and scrambled and the others order breakfast platters as well. The food was amazing and their coffee hits right at home. Great food overall, will come back definitely.

I visited George’s restaurant for breakfast with my family and ordered Eggs Florentine. The feta cheese tasted like it had gone bad - with a fishy taste to it. The waiters were kind about it and called a man who I guess was the manager Or chef. However, he insisted that the feta cheese was fine and told me “it is supposed to taste salty”. I replied that I am well Aware of how feta cheese is supposed to taste as I eat it often - and the salty taste was not the problem but that it tasted fishy. But he still Would not listen, let alone do anything about the problem. A very bad experience!

We had an excellent breakfast here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. It was busy on a very wet day. The food was hot & delicious. I had the pancakes with banana & my husband had the South Western Eggs Benedict with as much coffee as you wanted.

What attracted me was the fact that most of the reviews were so positive. It was also quite crowded when we visited for lunch on a Saturday. My husband really wanted a milk shake, which they had, and we split a Mediterranean omelette. I truly wanted to like the place, but I did not. The food was ok, but not anything I would rave about. Sorry.

Very near 911 Memorial, great breakfast, good prices, local, fast and courteous service. Loved the bagels and the Greek yogurt with walnuts and honey.

Given the reviews I was expecting a decent experience. Oh boy was I wrong! They mix sweet and sour food together without pointing it out. The food came in cold, the sausages were too over cooked, the pancakes tasted atrocious. It’s a tourist trap, and they are not even good at it. Stay as far as possible!

I stayed in New York for 5 nights and went for breakfast at George’s 3 days. Lovely food with big portions so much so I needed a takeaway bag. Lots of choice too. My favourite was the eggs Benedict. Service is very fast and had to queue a couple of times but not for long. Would definitely recommend and go again if I return to NYC.

My mum and I had a fab breakfast here last month while visiting New York. We had actually read about it in advance, and were excited to try it out discovering it to be something of an institution. We were not disappointed! Arriving early meant we beat the rush hour madness and got a table right away. (people were queuing out the door by the time we left) Staff were very friendly and helpful from the off. We had varieties of the French Toast which was frankly fantastic - America, you really know how to do breakfast! We both loved our meals, and enjoyed washing them down with the coffee. Very reasonably priced, as well. The only mishap was that I didn't lock the toilet door properly and some poor chap opened it while I was in the restroom! That was of course my own fault - but something to be wary off, even if it did produce one of our biggest laughs of the holiday...

If you are staying in the Wallstreet area, you cannot miss having breakfast in this typical diner... friendly staff and excellent cuisine...

Really busy diner with a huge choice on the menu. Great service and delicious food. Big portions to keep you going all day!

PANCAKES😍 as another reviewer mentioned, these pancakes were maybe the best we've ever had. My boyfriend got chocolate chip and I got a regular stack. The syrup was real (no HFCS) and hot, the food was served quickly and presented nicely. Delicious fresh OJ. Sit outside if the weather is nice, the intersection was fairly quiet considering the location. The menu was also huge (including draft beers, desert, and milkshakes.) We'll be back!

We found George’s after our first day breakfast was a flat experience. We went the next day and were not disappointed. We visited again the next 3 days. The place, although small, is well appointed and is welcoming. The staff are very friendly and welcoming a more than happy to help. The food was superb, I could have tried alsorts on the menu. Great quality and good quantity to set you up for the day. Thank you to the staff of George’s for playing a part helping make our first trip to NYC so special.

Fabulous food, great choice, great service, good size portions. All freshly made, quick service. We went several times during our stay. American bistro style with great pictures and flyers adorning the walls. Massive thumbs up for the music! Eating and relaxing to New Order, Billy Idol, Ben Jovi, Tears for Fears, Rick Astley to name a few. We loved it! It made a difference to our stay.

We are seated upstairs as the downstair space is limited. We have ordered a Grilled chicken with Mozzarella cheese on Garlic Roll, and strawberry French toast with bacon. The meal was served fairly quickly, and the quality is good. The restaurant does have a 3.89% surcharge on using credit card to pay the bill.

We ate at Georges for breakfast one morning whilst staying in New York. We are from the UK and explained this to our server and he was great st explaining all the food choices to us. The food and service was great and there was great New York vibe in the restaurant.

Signature sandwich very poor. Thought it would be a flavoursome Clive sandwich, but was so dry. Turkey ham was so dry, no butter or source. Just managed half. Nothing signature about it. Other meals the family eat were ok. Service fine, but nothing memorable.

Really dug this authentic local NYC diner - right around the corner from our hotel, excellent service & staff, great foo d (massive portions), refills of coffee and great value for money! Pancakes were amazing as was fruit/yoghurt!

I stayed in NYC for almost 2 weeks and ate here almost every day! Very friendly staff, great service and tasty food. Would definitely recommend (and I’ll make sure to come back when I’m next in town!)

Stopped by on the way to the 9/11 memorial and museum. It had a HUGE menu with endless pages. Had a philly cheese steak wrap. It was SO big, it could have easily been two meals for it. It was warm and cheesy, just the way it should be. It came very quickly after being ordered as well, which is exactly what we needed at the time. Overall, it was satisfying and timely. I would recommend it again and again!

We had a great breakfast at George's! My yogurt parfait had huge chunks of fresh fruit and my husband's omelette was outstanding. Great service too and prices too!

Family had omelets, chicken sub, and breakfast wrap. Fresh, good flavors, a under seasoned potatoes. Atmosphere casual and great stop. Menu is huge, know what you want to eat. Time is table turns in Manhattan.

What a find We found this place and went twice on our 4 day visit to nyc Certainly great food and a taste of a typical American diner So much choice of food and was absolutely delicious Please visit

A classic NY coffee shop, with a huge menu, great comfort food, and delightful, attentive staff. Dined there several times during a recent stay, and they were dependably great for both breakfast and lunch! Easy to see why they were always busy.

Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner. Great service, quick and friendly, and the food was brilliant- best I’ve had whilst in the States. The chips were hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. The chicken was well-cooked and tasty and the sides were delicious. Will be back when I next return to NYC.

I recently went to George's. There was good customer service. The food tasted quite well. However, one dish had been thrown away. It tasted horrible. We bought Belgian Waffles. It was soaked in water! Imagine eating bread-covered water! When we ate we almost threw up. If you buy Belgian Waffles. Be Warned!!! Hope that George will fix this terrible problem soon. 2 star rating.

Brilliant little diner, we went for breakfast and really enjoyed the omelette, waffles and French toast. Tea and coffee were refilled.

We saw the reviews and decided to head to George’s for breakfast. It looked inviting and everyone enjoying food. We sat down, the staff were very busy rushing around which is always a good sign to see. However when I ordered a ‘breakfast #1’ and asked for a cup of tea (which is included) and they returned with 2 cups of tea and no food I should have worried. My partner ordered a breakfast and wanted to request it to exclude cheese and accompany by a can of pop. However the staff member may as well ran away as we did not get chance to ask. We explained to another member of staff who returned 10 minutes later with my partners meal but not mine and said ‘just the one meal, right?’ We had to chase milk for the cup of tea after 5 minutes of waiting. My partner had long finished his meal before my mediocre meal arrived. They had the audacity to request a 15-18% tip!! Safe to say we did not leave a tip, would not recommend and would not return.

Googled for best breakfast downtown and everything pointed towards George's as having the food and the old-style pedigree. Wasn't disappointed. Exactly what we wanted from a 'real' US breakfast, hearty food in a buzzy atmosphere. Friendly service despite the busyness mid-morning. Quality ingredients and cooking made this a top option. Eggs were exceptional in flavour, the pancakes were wholesome without being stodgy, bacon and sausage all as they should be. Decent coffee and a feast to set you up for the rest of the day. Exchange rate on the dollar meant it was pricier than it might have been for us but still good value. Great place to go between One World and Stock Exchange before you head to the Statue of Liberty.

Great NYC breakfast without the NYC prices! Arrived at 8:30 am on Sunday morning and by 9:30, a line was forming. Fast service, piping hot coffee and tea. Lots of menu items to choose from, traditional as well as some specials. Enjoyed our breakfast here!

Popped in here for Lunch. 3 adults, had nachos, tacos and chicken club. You get big portions. The nachos were massive, too much, friendly staff.

We were very lucky to visit the World Trade Center on Memorial Day. The sounds of bagpipes filled the air. Although it was a holiday, we were happy to discover George's Restaurant was open for breakfast. It is in walking distance of Ground Zero. The staff here is very friendly and we were quickly seated at the open air window. The food was prepared fresh and was delivered quick. We will be back again. Much gratitude.

Learned to never shop at a place that has no prices displayed. $12 for a cappuccino and a red bull. I know it's New York but that's ridiculous.

My daughter and I visited this lovely little diner for lunch whilst on a recent visit to New York. There was no queue on the day we went and we were seated straight away. Great menu with plenty of choice and prices to suit all pockets. I chose one of the house special salads which was absolutely huge, it would have fed a family of 4 back home, it was very very tasty. Well worth a visit.

We came here 3 times in a week it was so good. Every time we were warmly welcomed and received great service. We tried bagels, burritos and granola and oatmeal over the week and all were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Located near our hotel, with almost 60 years trading and heritage we gave George's a go for breakfast. Nearly every day. For a whole week. It was that good. At the heart of the financial district locals / workers stood in line waiting for a table regularly as the food is so great. I enjoyed waffles, pancakes and english muffins with a variety of eggs and compliments throughout the week. A sensational place where I shall go back next time I'm in New York. Great diner! Oh and I didn't say awesome service from the whole team.

I commented to my husband afterwards that my breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. It was honestly perfect. Not too pricy, pretty standard for the area.

Great diner. We ate here twice. It would have been three times but it was so busy there was a long queue outside. It's a little packed due to its popularity but I couldn't fault the place. The menu is outstanding - there is almost too much choice.

Fantastic place for breakfast if you are down in the Financial District. Just a couple of blocks from the Wall Street subway stop. All your favorites for a big hearty breakfast to start the day.

Stopped by for an early lunch. The menue has alot of options, which is good when you have 2 young kids. Wings were average, but French toast and the waffles were better. Pretty good staff, they were fast, friendly and attentive. For sure if you have kids, so much easier to make everyone happy.

George's is right around the corner from the New York Marriot Downtown, so it was a super convenient stop for breakfast before a busy day of sightseeting or travel. The food was typical breakfast diner food, with omelettes, pancakes and baked goods.

We visited George’s after looking online at the reviews and it did not disappoint! We had to wait for a table (was only 15mins) but the amount of people wanting to eat there speaks for itself! The waiters were efficient and the food was so tasty! I had the avo on toast with ham and Swiss! Every mouthful was delightful! The atmosphere was buzzing and I would definitely visit here again!

Very wide choice of breakfasts… but really very wide. It’s good, it’s plentiful and the service is friendly and fast

Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing diner! This was my family’s first time visiting NYC and we always had the desire to eat a typical American breakfast. After visiting the 9/11 Museum, New York Stock Exchange, and the Brooklyn Bridge (all just a few blocks away!) we were afraid it would be too late for breakfast. However we were pleasantly surprised that George’s serves BREAKFAST ALL DAY!! The lunch menu as well. Their menu is huge so anyone would be satisfied 👌🏼 I personally recommend the Romanian Steak with eggs 🤤 Prices are completely reasonable. The service was excellent even with the diner being extremely busy. Absolutely thinking of going back very soon. Highly HIGHLY recommend! 👍🏼 Thank you George’s!

My brother and I had visited George’s for breakfast whilst we were on holiday in New York, and both of us had thoroughly enjoyed our food. It was relatively well priced for the amount of food we received, the staff was always very polite and helpful.

This has become our local for meals, food is exceptional, staff are always welcoming and friendly highly recommended.

If you are looking for a typical American Brekfast with Eggs and sausage or Bacon and Ham, this is your place. Very typical American brekfast, portions are huge and service is good and fast. You can exchange your sausage and bacon with Turkey options if you are more health conscious

Great atmosphere and service in a traditional diner setting. Extensive menu with lots of gluten free options for my coeliac daughter. We really enjoyed breakfast here.

The food was delicious! It was incredibly filling especially since we both eat a ton! I highly recommend it and will be coming back!

Before boarding the ferry to the Statue of Liberty, we took advantage of one of the nearby diners, without too many lines, in the jungle of Wall Street. In the norm, nothing exceptional

We went here every morning when we stopped in lower Manhattan, the food is amazing and the work ethic by the staff is non stop, it’s so busy but they serve you quick

Went here for breakfast and liked it very much. The place is big and crowded but service was still fast and efficient and the food was tasty.

Although we were staying in the Upper Westside, we had two early morning activities in this area and so chose to eat breakfast here. It is clearly very popular with locals (a good sign) and was busy both mornings. The food was good and was reasonably priced and the staff were friendly.

Nice classical diner, traditional food well served, reasonable prices. We went there several times during our holiday in the city. I truly recommend this place if you want a nice and quick breakfast and you want something different from the big and well known multinational chain of coffeehouses. Very good pancakes with fruit. Just make sure you reserve a table during the weekend, it may be a bit crowded.

We saw a lot of people there so we went in. Ordered 2x Rueben, bagel with salmon and phillieextra. Very nice wit milkshakes. For all the Dutch people eat there!!!

My husband found this gem on a Google maps search as we were looking for a traditional New York, small business cafe. We didn’t want the usual breakfast like IHop or Denny’s. We were looking for a great breakfast, plenty of coffee refills, good sized portions as we were starving and great atmosphere. Hooboy! Did we ever pick well! Hector was our server and couldn’t have done a better job! He took our orders, including my fussy, complicated one and it came to us in great time, cooked to perfection. My usual request is, keep the coffees coming and water with no ice. Again, Hector and his team members accomplished the near unachievable and provided me with the most amazing breakfast I had on my 35 day road trip! I told Hector at the end I would get him a Presidential commendation for that success…(not this President though)! Honestly folks…if you rock up here, don’t be scared of a few people in line…as they clean up tables almost immediately and turn over the customers pretty regularly. Don’t get me wrong though…they do not push the breakfast on you and Chuck you out. We lingered for several refills. I loved that they didn’t bring the check until they asked if we wanted any more coffees, to which we said, no thank you. Then, they asked if there is anything more we would like. Nope. So, the check arrived promptly. The staff were friendly, professional and cheerful, having a laugh between themselves too. This will now be our go to breakfast and potential dinner place from now on. The menu is enormous! We did t get to read the dinner menu but if the breakfast was any evidence…you’ll love the dinner. Thank you Hector and I’ll get you that Presidential seal when we change Presidents! Thank you all again!

Visited for breakfast. Bit of a wait for a table, which I suppose is a good sign. Good menu and we all enjoyed what we had. Staff all very busy.

We went to George's expecting a lot more than we got. It is basically just another NYC diner. Food was fair, service was fair, windows were open so the jackhammering on the street made conversation almost impossible. Huge TVs on in every room. We had wanted to have a nice, quality breakfast, but this was just mediocre in every way. Even the coffee was unremarkable. I would say, if you are you looking for a quick place to eat in the area, fine. But if you want anything more than totally average food and service, look elsewhere.

After doing the Dumbo/Brooklyn Bridge walk just after sunrise, we found George's by chance. Service was great, food fantastic and price reasonable. I would highly recommend and would definitely revisit if I were in the city again.

Great way to start the day, having coffee and different varieties of breakfast choice so much to choose but all worth it.

I was a little disappointed after reading all the rave about their breakfast. While it was good, it wasn’t great, just above average. French toast and pancakes were good. I would go back.

Such a welcoming staff! Our waiter was so kind to my daughter. Clean, efficient, and SO delicious. Highly recommend a cup of their piping hot coffee and fluffy pancakes. Can't wait to come back.

I frequent George's Restaurant at least 2 times per month for either breakfast or lunch. This is a downtown staple. Very well known, always busy, sometimes tough getting a seat during peak hours. I get delivery and they are always accurate with the order. Omelets are great. Sandwiches and burgers are always great. My lunch go to in the chicken gyro. Portion sizes are large and worth the value. I recommend your trying.

What can I saw but wow wow wow, food and service exceptional. Wings like I’ve never had before and so so much good, the menu is huge

Service was polite and quick, food was tasty, pancakes were lovely. Atmosphere good, would recommend

Arrived around 10am and people were waiting for tables as the place was full. Took our name and we were seated very quickly. Breakfast was excellent and reasonably priced. I had eggs Benedict, my wife had avocado toast with eggs and bacon, our kids had red velvet waffles and pancakes both with ice cream. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Shame we won’t have time to return before we head back to the UK.

Called here on our way to 9/11 which wasn’t open when we got there 😂😂 we were greeted by a friendly face and swiftly put on a table near the window which was a little drafts so we moved but then asked to move again as we were on a big table for five and there were only the two of us So when we finally got to choose our meal I ordered two poached eggs and toast on the side which were cooked to perfection mum had scrambled eggs too, perfect stopping off point for a quick bite to eat

Writing this while still in the restaurant. The server we had was one of the nicest, funniest, kindest people ever. He was quite literally breaktakingly good at his job and as a person. The food was simply amazing. Amazon burrito, cheesecake to die for and a lovely sangria to wash it down. I can not recommend this place enough. I wish I could rate the service ever higher!

The Cubby Burger made this 5 stars. There was things that could've kept it in the 4 range but once you bite in to the Cubby and see all they offer on their menu the work alone that goes in to take care of the people is 5 star. Now no refills sucks. But they do also offer a wife array of cakes, cheesecake, and pies. And for classic cut fries they're pretty good.

Its a good spot. Super popular with tourists (me) so you might prefer something more off the trail A great brekkie of corned beef hash and eggs. It was Just what i wanted !

Visiting New York and wanted to get a good breakfast. Seen great reviews of George’s and it’s not far from the hotel so decided to go. So glad we did. Lovely friendly staff, so much choice on the menu. I had the French toast, my son the red velvet pancakes with bacon and my husband bacon and poached eggs. Everything was delicious and well made. Coffee refills was appreciated too. Nothing was a problem for the staff all so helpful and interested. Bill was reasonable for everything we ordered. Happy to tip as service was excellent

What a fantastic find on a very cold Saturday morning downtown. Proper old fashioned breakfast diner. Steeped with history. Staff are fantastic and a hearty breakfast is served quickly and efficiently. No shortage of food as portions are excellent. So much better than any of the big chains and supports local businesses Fabulous

Perfectly located if you're exploring the Financial District/heading to Ellis Island or the Statue of Liberty, we enjoyed the Breakfast Special #2 with bacon and the Southwestern Eggs Benedict - great value and tasty food.

The waiter said my payment of 120$ did not work and insisted of another payment. As he promised me that if its payed double i will get it back, i payed with another creditcard. At the end of the month i found the payment of the 120$ on both creditcards. Since month i called them about 6 times and wrote 4 emails but they reject to pay it back. The best way to avoid troubles - dont go there.

3rd visit in 2 trips to NYC, absolutely the best breakfast I have found in this city! Great value, tasty hot food cooked to order. Cannot fault the place.

Amazing lunch in a nice place very close to the wall street bull. I’ve eaten a delicious club sandwich that I recommend. Staff really friendly. Price acceptable

We had a delicious breakfast at noon on a Sunday, and no wait for a table. Nice atmosphere and located right near World Trade Center. Excellent service, fast and friendly. We had omelettes which came with breakfast potatoes and toast, and we had a soda and hot tea, and the total with tax was $40. Reasonable prices and great food!

We went to Georges with my 17 year old son after a trip out to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty - its not too far to walk from Battery Park where the ferry comes in. My son ordered a huge hamburger and loved it - I had a much smaller one and the meat was amongst some of the best I have ever tasted. Really good. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was good although one of the waiters got slightly confused, I'm not sure if his first language was English. All in all would very much recommend the food, location and atmosphere.

We went to visit brooklyn bridge early hours for sunrise and had an hour to kill before our visit to the SoL. We stumbled across this diner for breakfast and it did not dissapoint. We had the chorizo omelette and a plain omelette and both were delicious with a massive passion fruit juice and hot chocolate. Thanks to the team at Georges!

We were visiting downtown and were told to come here. It was awsome food, service and affordable. Highly recommend

We just came back from a 5 day trip to nyc and had breakfast 3 times at George’s (our hotel was around the corner). The pancakes and the waffles are awesome! I recommend the freshly squeezed orange juice as well! Always quick service too! It isn’t a fancy restaurant, but it feels like a real New York family run place. It’s right beside the Rector street subway station and Wall Street/World Trade Centre. Highly recommend for breakfast!

Food was hot and tasty and reasonably priced. Wide variety of dishes served, and everything tasted good. Portions were very generous--after the first meal, we ordered one meal for two people!

Warm Welcoming hearty lunch friendly Mood a real american dinner where you can eat usa Mexican Greek etc... with unlimited coffee and super cool staff

We came here twice for breakfast. Pancakes are amazing! Worth a try for sure. We came back the following day and had eggs and again they were nice. Never feel rushed to leave, all staff were friendly and efficient. Good spot for breakfast in NYC. A little pricey but worth it!

Restaurant that sticks well to what we are looking for if we want a typical American restaurant, American specialties here simple and effective! The person could be closer to the guests, the welcome is a little cold

A good light meal option in the financial district. A restaurant opened since 1950 that is cozy, with American aesthetics and where it is easy to find room because it has two floors and there is a lot of rotation. Very wide menu of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, omelettes, eggs and eggs Benedictines. Good food, reasonable price. A good option to make a stop if you are visiting the Wall Street and World Trade Center area.

Going downtown with friends and we hit the spot at Geogre’s. We got seated right away which is a good start and the service was good. Great breakfast food, had the lumberjack with fresh OJ. One of the best downtown spots to enjoy your mornings.

The food at George's was very good, but like everything else in NYC, silly expensive. We have visited NYC before and been to many US cities. This is the first time we have eaten in a diner and been shocked by the bill. It came to nearly $50, plus tip. We ate at numerous diners on our road trip through Arizona, Utah, Nevada and California a couple of years ago and averaged less than $30. We only paid $35 in San Francisco. NYC is very quickly pricing itself out of a tourist trade if it keeps ramping up prices like this. $50 is madness for an old style diner.

We are here on our first morning in Manhattan based on good reviews and it being super close to our hotel. We were rather unprepared for the sheer size of the portions but were very excited to be eating an American style breakfast in a diner that let the food do the talking. The service was fast and the staff were polite. But it’s a busy place so don’t expect five star service. The food was pretty decent. I had an omelette that was a generous sized portion with potatoes and bacon. Omelette could have done with a bit more seasoning but was still pretty tasty. Coffee was regularly refilled. Would definitely recommend for a visit. It felt like an old school diner that was catering for a wide range of customers - loyal regulars and tourists and I think they pretty much have got it right.

Excellent servers, good breakfast. Love their coffee. Sitting arrangements were nice and comfortable.

We arrived at the 9/11 memorial pools at "stupid o'clock" due to time difference on our first day. We had a chat with a NYPD officer and asked him if he could recommend a good place for breakfast. He suggested George's, so we made our way to the restaurant. We were surprised how busy it was given it was early, which is always a good sign. We were seated quickly, and given great tasting coffee, with constant refills. We both really enjoyed our breakfast which was well cooked, served quickly by efficient, friendly staff. No complaints and highly recommend if your in the area.

Found this place after our trip to the Statue of Liberty Warm welcome and shown our seat. Ready to take our order soon after but there is so much to see on the menu we needed more time which wasn’t a problem Ordered the Reuben sandwich and pancakes with apple cinnamon and ginger lemonade Pancakes were rich and fluffy with a delicious apple cinnamon topping and maple syrup. My husband devoured the Reuben sandwich which was delicious Enjoyed it so much we return a couple of days later If you want delicious food with a great warm American welcome come here

We came here because they offered Gluten Free pancakes. It's a fairly typical restaurant in New York. It has has very New York feel. The food had good presentation. The pancakes however, were not very good. They didn't have great texture. There are some great GF pancakes out there. These are not so great. You can probably find some other great options here. I just wouldn't really recommend the GF pancakes.

The waffles looked really good. Omelette was overcooked and dried out. Home fries were lacking seasoning and also dry. Service was super slow. Waited about 20 minutes to get the check. Overpriced breakfast food.

I really regret eating at this place. We were coming back from a pleasantly visit to the statue of liberty (first time for our daughters) and decided to stop here on our way to the One World Observatory. The food is pretty average and that was expected due to the type of restaurant and location. However, what we weren't expecting, was what followed when the waiter brought the check. I noticed the bill was a little higher than expected. As I started reviewing it, noticed that in the second to last line they had already added the tip FIRST big NO-NO. Then, I did the math, and SECOND NO-NO they had added not 15 or 20 but 25%. I calculated what 20% would be and gave this to him in cash explaining that we don't usually tip 25, but we were giving him the equivalent to 20%. He started getting very aggressive and I explained myself again (I thought maybe there was a misunderstanding) again, I explained, we are tipping you, but 20 instead of 25%. he continued being aggressive, went to the register and brought change of what was his tip. I asked him, why do you have this attitude I am just explaining why we are not giving you the full amount. I now realize, he didn't even deserve an explanation and perhaps a tip for what was very rude customer service. Needless to say, this added an unnecessary layer of stress and totally unwanted moment of aggressiveness towards us. A simple thank you form the beginning would have been fine.

This became our go to Breakfast joint on our our short stay to New York. Friendly staff, good quality food and good portions. The corned beef hash was epic and the waffles were just the thing for a hungry teenager. Good hot tea too!!

Amazing food, huge portions, really friendly and helpfull staff. This was a fantastic lunch spot after a long morning of walking in the rain 100% recommended.

Very tasty breakfast with quick service. Popped in on the way to 9/11 museum after a recommendation. Seated quickly. Great choice menu and service and very pleased overall.

A long time fixture of the Wall Street area, and near the World Trade Center, so they're used to handling large busy crowds. We arrived as the lunch rush was waning, and they didn't mind my wife and I just chatting for a while. A good variety of food, large portions and reasonable prices. We picked the upstairs dining, as it's quiet and has a clean available bathroom, important for us out-of-town visitors.

We came in late from a flight and this was across the street from our hotel so we went in to eat pretty close to closing time. It was delicious food and generous portions and speedy service!

I picked up a fried egg sandwich and orange juice for a quick breakfast before going to a meeting. The service was quick and friendly. The sandwich tasted good.

Came here after reading all of the positive reviews. Very disappointed by the service and the food. Asked to sit upstairs even though there were empty tables downstairs. Had to carry a suitcase up the stairs and then were seated at a table where we could not have the suitcase with my husband's laptop next to us. Food was terrible. I had an Italian omelette that was supposed to have Italian sausage but came with breakfast sausage instead. Husband had waffles with fruit that was dry and tasteless.

Very good breakfast. Mood is warm the dishes are hearty very well prepared and at a still reasonable price. Good job.

Very disappointed. We explained on arrival that one of us was vegan, and was told by staff that they had vegan food. We ordered a vegan shake, and waiter said it would be almond milk. But they brought dairy milk shake. When we asked for this to be changed the waiter was very hostile and said we hadn't asked for almond milk. He eventually agreed to change it. Replacement was topped with cream! They took this away, scraped the cream off and brought it back. The shake tasted very perfumed and sickly. We had 2 meals of poor quality. When paying, there was a "problem" with our credit cards and we had to go to a different part of the building to pay. We were asked to give a tip but refused. Less than a minute after leaving, the person who had drunk the almond milk shake was violently sick. A horrible experience for someone with a milk allergy and staff need training in this and in customer service!

We enjoyed George’s very much. We were seated almost family style with other diners but that was part of the fun. My salad was delicious and served in a bowl only slightly smaller than my mixing bowl at home. Great value for the money.

Quick pick-up and service at this friendly restaurant. Very good pancakes and coffee before boarding the Statue of Liberty ferry located 5 minutes away on foot.

Enjoyed breakfast before visiting 911 museum. My husband enjoyed the chizzaro omelet we he really enjoyed. I had the eggs Benedict but wasn’t impressed with sauce. The menu is huge so next time I will get something else. Other people sitting near us had omelette or pancakes which looked delicious.

The waiter mistakenly charged $12 as a gratuity, which is only charged for groups of more than 5, and there were five of us. He blamed the manager and refused to remove the amount, even though it was his mistake. It is regrettable how disrespectful the customer is and how the establishment increases its profits.

Greek restaurant just around the corner from the Motel One hotel with friendly service and reasonable prices. I had a large souvlaki plate with salad and pita bread for just under $20 and was very satisfied. It was the same here a year ago. I can highly recommend George's.

Went for breakfast before going to 911 memorial. It was amazing, my daughter had eggs benedict and I had the waffles and strawberries, the staff were welcoming , definitely go when in NY x

With so many places closed after the pandemic it was nice to see George's welcoming us for an early breakfast on the 4th of July. I had excellent banana pancakes and she enjoyed her poached eggs. The hash browns were "extra crispy" as requested. Service was quick and friendly

Fab! Tasty, hot breakfast had! Plenty of options to suit everyone's taste. Service second to none. We all left with full tums! Pancakes are to die for and the bacon particularly good! Can't wait to visit again. 😍

The queue at the door tells you something. Popular and worth a small wait for a filling breakfast. Pancakes were delicious and my daughter’s chocolate milkshake was good too- not too sweet. Staff are extremely polite and welcoming. Thankyou

Absolutely awesome traditional American diner. We loved it. Over ordered and could have eaten everything on the menu. Lovely staff too.

Had breakfast twice whilst staying in NYC recently! Best coffee we had on our visit! Breakfast was lovely and the staff were great!

Our family was in the area looking for a local restaurant that looked good, and we came across George’s New York Restaurant. I am gluten free, and I had the grilled chicken taco salad without the shell. It was delicious! My husband and teenage son both ordered bacon burgers with fries and was also delicious. Highly recommend!

I love eateries like this: non-fussy restaurants with fantastic food and great staff. We stopped here for a late breakfast while in the area and were impressed with both the food and our server. My husband and I both ordered the Avocado Eggs Benedict and loved them! The portions are really big but the food's delicious. I was able to swap the Canadian bacon for turkey sausage, and their freshly-squeezed orange juice is really good. Friendly, accommodating service. This place appears to be a popular eating joint for both locals and tourists alike.

We found this handy off of the Subway on our way from Brooklyn into the city for breakfast. Service was mixed, one guy looked like he was going to pour the coffee on us but the guy who took our food order was really friendly. Menu was typical massive diner menu. We had pancakes which were okay. Not mind blowing but did the job. Coffee was great.

We fell upon george's on our first visit to New York, thank God we did their was a small wait but worth it. The hostess told us about ten min and was dead on. My wife had the chicken cesar salad and I had the cheese burger with a milk shake. Both awsome, I wish we had george's down here in Florida.

We were going from Wall Street to the 9/11 Memorial and looking for a place to eat lunch when we stumbled upon George's. What a lucky find. The menu is extensive. I had a very delicious tuna melt sandwich and we had good service

We woke bright and early having arrived in New York the previous day. As we were wide awake and raring to go we wanted breakfast as soon as possible. George’s opens at 6am and was a ten minute walk from our hotel in the Financial District. This is a no frills diner serving food all day to locals and tourists alike. I had the Lumberjack breakfast and my wife the French toast. With fast efficient service and constant coffee refills we were fuelled up for a hectic day of sightseeing. We visited George’s twice during our stay. We highly recommend it.
Authentic place and good food
This place was just around the corner from our hotel and was a welcome place for breakfast. Such a busy place with people coming in to eat and also taking food away, it was a constant stream of people. The waiters were so quick at doing their jobs while being attentive at the same time. The food was very quick to come out and the omelettes we had were excellent, good value and filled us up for several hours! Definitely a traditional NY cafe/diner with a large and varied menu, the amount of people coming through the doors that were local/workers etc is always a good sign, they know where to go!
