Cozy, friendly and plentyful

By Kixon |

Giorgios of Gramercys delivers yet again. I visited Giorgios five years ago and wanted to bring my husband there. It's a super cozy, dimly lit small restaurant with amazing food. Proper american food. The portion sizes are humongous, so go with a small starter or share the to die for oysters. I recommend the linguine pasta, the skirt steak and the truffle fries is a must. If you can still fit something in your bellies after this go with the s'mores breadpudding for dessert! The prices are decent and the restaurant is good value for the money. Super friendly staff!

Is Giorgio's all that much better than a fast-food Italian restaurant? I don't think so.

By sleeplessinsuburbia |

Years ago, when I was a kid, I worked at Sbarro's for the summer. At the time, Sbarro's was an innovative cross between a fast-food pizzeria and an Italian-American restaurant. In addition to slices of pizza, Sbarro's showcased trays of Italian food, and so you could choose spaghetti, meatballs, baked ziti, or eggplant parmigiana, among other standard Italian dishes. Nobody raved about Sbarro's exquisite flavors or the warm service. But you could get Italian food and quickly ... as long as you wanted what they were serving, the way that they were serving it. Okay, I admit that Giorgio's is better than Sbarro's (and way more expensive too). But except for the decor, which made us decide to try it in the first place, and the pricing, which perhaps fooled us into thinking that we'd get a good meal, it bears little resemblance to any one of the many decent enough Italian restaurants in New York City were you can, in fact, get a reasonable meal. First, there was the maitre d'. Yucky is the word that I would use to describe her. The air conditioning was blowing on us as we asked for a table, so I asked if there were a warmer spot in the restaurant. She suggested seating us right under the vent that was blowing cold air, as if that might be a reasonable solution to our request. When we demurred, she said "Honestly, it's the same everywhere in the restaurant." The truth, we found out, is that the warmer tables were occupied. We turned to leave and the bartender came running after us. "How about if you sit at a table in the bar area?" he suggested, recognizing that, in fact, some areas of the restaurant were warmer than others. He was so nice that we decided to stay. The problem, however, was the food. Oh yeah, the wine was a problem too. No good. When I asked that the salad be chopped, the bartender explained that the kitchen would not accommodate any special requests. When I asked that there not be any cheese in my pomodoro sauce, which sauce, by the way, does not ordinarily contain cheese, he said no. The kitchen had already made the sauce, with cheese, and so they couldn't prepare it without cheese. We went ahead and ordered, despite our disappointment at their complete unwillingness to accommodate. Our salads emerged from the kitchen almost immediately, I suspect because they were already assembled. Mine was unevenly dressed, as one might expect of a serving scooped out of a bowl without proper mixing. The pre-prepared pomodoro sauce with cheese was heavy and not flavorful. And so, you see, I compare Giorgio's to Sbarro's because, while certainly a cut above, it has none of the personalized attention that one would expect in a restaurant as costly as Giorgio's. The decor is lovely. The walls are a deep red and crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. At the end of the day, however, the good looks that induced us to walk into Giorgio's in the first place were simply not enough to carry the meal. Moreover, did I mention that Giorgio's is not cheap?. Notwithstanding the efforts of a well-meaning bartender, we left with a bad taste in our mouths.

Cozy, a nice find

By Dutton_PhilaSuburbs |

We were delighted to have a great dining experience consistent with many of the other reviews. Everything we ate was well prepared. The Pappardelle, the lamb chops, scallops, creme brulee - just wonderful. We saw the steak and sea bass - those looked amazing as well. If we had another night in New York we would go back.

Poor experience

By busbygirl |

The manager of this restaurant doesn’t understand that customers are important and without us there will be no them. I have eaten in many restaurants in NY over the past 20 years and have never experienced service so poor with a take it or leave it attitude! Food was tasty but would not return.

Good for small groups - up to 15 people

By Alan304 |

The food is somewhere between 3 stars and 4 stars. The reasonable prices (by Manhattan standards) push it to 4 stars. The tuna steak was well prepared and tasty. The room is very dark, a little more lighting would be nice.

Less than enjoyable this time

By Russian B |

Ive been here on many occasions when visiting New York. Although the food is still good, I found that the prices had dramatically increased along with the noise level. When we asked the waitress if the music could be made softer, she bluntly and inconsiderately told us that it could not. The five of us had to strain to hear our conversation which made our evening considerably less enjoyable. I doubt that I will return. Not everybody likes to shout at each other over dinner.

Great atmosphere and even better food

By VP2601 |

Visited Giorgio's with some friends while in NYC on holiday. We went mid-week and it was packed, so definitely make a reservation if you're going to go. The restaurant is very narrow and busy, so it can be a bit cramped. Its dimly lit, and a band were playing live music, its such a great atmosphere. The food was amazing, I had the baked mac and cheese and lemon fries which were delicious. Food arrived quickly, well presented. The waiter was really friendly and helpful. The food is pricey, the bill for 3 mains, 2 sides and 3 drinks was $150, but I do think its worth it. Next time I'm in NYC, I will be returning !

Good fish and courtesy

By RobbyRoma81 |

We had a very good meal. I took a "Soutee" of mixed fish including lobster, prawns, mussels, clams and sea bass. My gf took a portion of tuna. Then we shared a cheesecake, which was also delicious. The staff was also very gentle. The check was a bit expensive, but considering the position of the place and the quality, it's probably justified. We absolutely advise this place!!

Warm welcome

By Kitchengardener |

Giorgios of gramercy is a great little neighborhood restaurant. We were welcomed warmly and our meal was delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and service is professional. I had a beet salad and the bouillabaisse, which had many kinds of seafood, well cooked in a saffron broth, and another guest had the cedar plank salmon.

Red Detroit is the drink!!!

By Ken H |

Very lovely place with excellent service. The first time I went there, I had an amazing meal (grilled octopus, lamb shank and the bread pudding) along with an angry bird followed by a red Detroit! Everything was great, but red Detroit was what captured my heart. I have taken friends back there not only for the food but the drinks as well. I definitely will go back.

Ask Your Waiter Questions

By CIO_Traveler |

I have had lunch here with co-workers several times due to its proximity to our office. The food is good, not special, but reliably good. Be sure to ask the waiter questions to be sure about what you are ordering. An example from today verbatim from the menu: Kale Caesar Salad (baby kale, parmesan crispy, homemade crouton, anchovies). When the salad arrived I saw all the ingredients listed except for anchovies. I was told that it had a subtle anchovy flavor. There is quite a difference between expecting an anchovy and “anchovy flavor”. I also tasted the flavor of salt, so I know it was an ingredient, but it should not be listed. The $30 wine pairing consisted of 2 tasting-sized portions of white wine. I should have asked more questions. Meat portions were large, but 3 scallops for an entree.

CHOCOLATE LOVERS ALERT:

By Harvey M |

I started the meal off with the delicious salmon which was pan seared and finished off in the oven. I like it cooked medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. For dessert I had, what the manager called, the house signature dessert. It was a delicious s'more's chocolate bread budding with vanilla ice cream (pictured below this review).

Not as good as expected

By NYCsenior |

I went with a friend during NY restaurant week. It had been recommended to me, so I expected it to be at least very good, but found it quite ordinary. My friend had the steak on the restaurant week special and it was surprisingly tough. My meal was unmemorable. Though it's in my neighborhood, I won't be back.

Stunning

By StuartTFC |

This restaurant was absolutely stunning. Was taken here by a friend after he received a recommendation! Every course that we had was gorgeous. I could not pick a fault with any of them and they were all well priced! The staff there were superb. Very welcoming and attentive! Would recommend this to anyone going to New York. Only a short cab ride from Times Square area!

Old friends meet

By rkelly613 |

Outstanding service quality of food and value. Ate last night and loved the rack of lamb. The special mussel app was outstanding Caroline was an outstanding server with quiet attention and impeccable timing with all courses. The wine selection is good but needs a few adds in Chardonnay and Cabernet Dessert choice excellent go for the tartuffo

Love this place

By Teri B |

Great food at a really good price service is super! I have been ordering from here for years today we stopped in for Lunch. Jackpot! Great menu, great food, great staff.

A NYC Classic.

By eatlovewander |

I dine out often but I'm usually too lazy to write reviews. However, I feel compelled to write a review for the ever deserving Giorgio's of Gramercy. THE STAFF: warm, knowledgeable, professional and authentic. They are "cool kids" without being pretentious or even trying, the kind of people you'd like to hang out with. THE FOOD: creative, tasty, quality, generous portions at a great value (Octopus, Burrata, Roasted Oysters, Veal Parm, Osso Buco, Scallops, Porterhouse for two, Lamb, Pappardelle, Mac and Cheese, Truffle Fries, Brussels Sprouts). THE BEVERAGES: Infused spirits, delicious aged cocktails (last night I had a Vin Brule/Mulled Wine to warm me up on a cold night!) amazing wines you maybe never heard of but will rock your world, and even beer lovers won't be disappointed (anything from Trappist Belgian beers, German Hefes, French Ales, IPAs, Milk Stout to "regular" beers to keep less adventurous in their comfort zone. THE VIBE: fun, lively, dimly lit, jazz pumping, great for an intimate date or group.

I rounded up to 5 stars because of the overall experience

By Alan304 |

The Orange Clove infused Old Fashioned was a little sweet, but not bad. The Rack of Lamb was delicious. The staff was help and we were able to sit for longer than the usual Manhattan dinner interval and enjoy the comfortable room.

Very cramped and gloomy. Food disappointing.

By Archie56 |

The service was very pleasant and we weren't made to feel bad about not wanting wine or lots of courses because we were jet lagged. But it was so dimly lit that I could not read the menu without my phone torch and the tables are jammed together in an awkward space for a restaurant. The wine was astonishingly expensive, but in fact we wanted beer anyway. Our seafood pasta dish was under flavoured and under seasoned. Disappointing.

One of the prettiest restaurants in NYC

By Judith T |

Love the look, the food is fresh and delicious, cocktails both traditional and innovative are great and service excellent. I appreciate that I am always accommodated as a vegan usually dining with carnivores, even though the menu is quite meat-y. This is always our "go to" place and we have dinner there nearly every month. Lunch is also good and a bargain.

Forgettable

By prekteacher1214 |

We went to Giorgio's to celebrate our friend's birthday and have to say it was not up to our expectations. Let's begin with the space. Our table was shoved against the wall with no room to move on any side. It seemed to us that they squeezed in a few extra tables and didn't consider the comfort of their guests. It took the waiter a half hour to bring us our drinks. He said he had to locate the type of vodka one of us ordered. Then we got our appetizers. My grilled octopus was tasty but small in portion for the price. When our entrees finally arrived my husband's tuna dish was ice cold. Again a lot of excuses. Finally the dessert issue. We ordered the gelato and it was served half melted. The baked Alaska was the oddest baked Alaska and I wouldn't recommend it. For a price of $159 per couple, I would expect a much better experience. My advice for the restaurant would be to have more trained staff ready for a Saturday night and to rethink the set-up of tables.

There is a reason why it is easy to get a reservation here. Because it is bad

By A M |

The atmosphere, service and especially the food is not good here. I regret spending $360 for a dinner for 5. The bread was stale, we were left adrift by our waiter and to top it off the food was gross. Do not waste your money, there is a reason why it is easy to get a reservation here and that is because it is BAD

Marmite - Either you Luv it or Hate it.

By dhontour2016 |

Sorry folks but out of the 3 Dinner Choices we made over Xmas in New York City this was by far the worst of our choices [Mine that is]. Noticeably there are very few pictures of the Restaurant's interior which to me is very drab, dark & unwelcoming. The waiter then proceeded to constantly sneeze over us [partially into his forearm] whilst attempting to take our food orders. Sadly whatever was produced from the kitchen on that evening really wasn't going to get a fair review & so it proved. Maybe we just were unlucky but as only 3 - 4 tables were occupied perhaps that's reflective. Sorry not for us I'm afraid.

Wonderful as always, a true gem worthy of shining brightly

By zachnyc |

We returned to Giorgio's of Gramercy after a much too long hiatus and found it as wonderful as ever. Although this time we just ate a quick simple meal after theater, it was delicious and perfectly prepared. My partner had the Four Cheese Macaroni and Cheese and I had the Tuna done black and blue. It came out perfectly. We started with a lovely amuse bouche and we were even brought a complimentary appetizer of flat bread, avocado, lime and cilantro as our waiter thought we may have to wait a bit for our meal (which instead arrived perfectly timed). What really sets Giorgio's apart is its staff, especially the hostess Phaedra who unlike many front of the house staff, politely and accurately told us of a short wait and kept us updated repeatedly though the 10 minutes wait. After we were seated we were immediately moved to a better table which had just opened up without us having to ask. Kudos to our waiter James, whom we have had the pleasure of having serve on us multiple times. He is the epitome of professionalism, knowledge of the food he is serving, all done with a dramatic flair. And he has a memory of an elephant to boot, remembering us after too long an absence. We certainly won't wait so long to be back.

Great choice and we will be back again….

By cheese413 |

Our 2nd time to Giorgio’s of Gramercy and did not disappoint. The homemade pastas are excellent! We enjoyed the cozy ambiance. Started with grilled jumbo shrimp and meatballs for shared apps which were delicious. I had a halibut special (potatoes and broccolini cooked perfectly) and my family members stuck with traditional Campanelle alla vodka and Linguine alle Vongole. Great service, wine, salads, and not rushed. Food was hot and delicious - we will be back!

Lovely atmosphere, food doesn't match

By Sue K |

There were six of us dining. My husband and I split a half portion of the macaroni and cheese as an appetizer. It was quite good and filling. However, we were both disappointed in our entrees. I ordered my duck rare and it came well over medium, the grains beneath it had no taste at all. My husband ordered an upscale version of fish and chips and neither the fish nor the potatoes had any flavor. Our other friends did see contented with their food, but no one ever said "this is delicious." On the evening we went the restaurant was quiet enough for conversation. We were told by the person at the reception desk that it is usually quite loud on a Sat. night.

Jazz was adorable and a great waiter

By LaMarinera |

Delicious food, albeit a little pricey. Wine was good, but not so good I'm going to look for it again. We had sea bass, lamb chops and a 1/2 portion of bolognese. The Bolognese stole the show.

Great food, great staff, great time

By Kathleen D |

Everything was perfect! Our party of eight had a wonderful experience. Scallops, seafood pasta, and steaks cooked to perfection. Wines and cocktails great. Can not say enough about wait staff - very accommodating and eager to please. A definite do again.

Wonderful Gem in Gramercy

By JIA-7 |

What a beautiful gem of a restaurant! We were a group of eight. The food was spectacular and the service was excellent. They even gave us an amazing dessert to share at the end on the house. I love the old school feel of the place. It was a superb dining experience and we will definitely be back.

Food good enough, service decent

By Bryan J |

We enjoyed our dinner celebration as a group of four. The food was good but my mother’s chicken dish was way too salty, I wish she sent it back instead of waiting until the end of the meal when I tried it. The wine and drinks were excellent. Service was just okay - we were not ready to place our order when they first came by and then it took them 15-20 minutes before they came back. We filled the time with good conversation but were hungry and wish they allowed us to place our app order or bring by bread in the meantime. I would go back for a casual dinner but look elsewhere to celebrate a special occasion.

Fabulous

By AngelaS10 |

First time eating here, but not the last. On the recommendation of a co-worker my husband and I ate an early dinner before seeing a show. I started with the soup of the day - Friar Alex Soup, made with wild mushrooms, smoked cheddar and stout - I have never tasted anything so good. This alone is worth the trip. We shared a porterhouse steak with mashed potatoes that was exceptional. I ended the meal with a Creme Brulee. The wine list, while not globally inclusive, will have something for everyone. The wait staff is friendly and helpful in selecting wines or entrees.

A true gem in Manhattan

By reeldoc |

We were a party of seven for dinner before a play. We were received by James who took us to the table. Once accommodated James described to us some special dishes available. For appetizers we had PEI mussels in white wine garlic sauce and delicious roasted oysters with truffle. The were delicious. That was followed by various entrees consisting of rack of lamb, grilled scallops, farfalle pasta and seafood paella. Having some people from Spain with us we asked to serve each one of us a small tapa of paella. It turned out to be one of the most delicious paella we ever tasted Each one of us had a delicious treat with these dishes that were cooked to perfection. All was accompanied by a nice Spanish red wine. We had a bread pudding with chocolate that was out of this world. The service was very attentive and kept the pace of the evening bringing all the afore mentioned delicacies. The atmosphere was comfortable. We will certainly recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

Quaint decor, slow service.

By Angela B |

What a cozy, romantic place. Found this for Restaurant week and went on a weekday for dinner for $59. Three courses with options and none of them were disappointing. Sadly, they were out of the initial wine choice but did have my second in stock. The service was good, and we had reservation starting at 6:30...we ordered dinner around 7 (part of the party was delayed) and we didn't leave until 8:30. I ordered he mushroom truffle soup, braised short ribs and s'mores bread pudding for dessert. The rest of the group ordered the Branzino, Duck, tuna tartare (they substituted salmon as they were out of tuna) and the trio gelato. I only tried the Duck which I thought was delicious. However, the braised short ribs where the best out of the four dishes. The s'mores bread pudding was super rich...wow. Thankfully they gave vanilla gelato with it to help cut that, but it was still rich. The trio gelato was the best for dessert as you got vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I'd totally go back to try other items on the menu.

Shocking

By dabbott08 |

Spend your money elsewhere I know it was valentines BUT we waited 25 minutes to be seated (we did have a reservation) when seated 15 minutes get a drink then an additional 45 minutes yes 45 minutes until our food arrived No apologies our poor kids as it was a special valentines treat were so tired and falling asleep at the table yet no apologies at all I would not recommend this place there a far better restaurant in Manhattan

Wonderful ambiance and food!

By Anne L |

This was our first visit Giorgio's. Our server highlighted the specials for the evening which all sounded delicious. We opted for the king salmon and the scallops entree which is a specialty of the restaurant. The restaurant offers an intimate and quiet setting which is greatly appreciated. Good conversation, delicious wine and outstanding dinners made this a memorable experience. We would happily dine here again.

This place checked all the boxes for us.

By stan S |

We did a lot of research to find just the right place for our anniversary dinner while visiting New York. Fortunately we found Giorgio's Very few our reviews ever make excellent, but this one did. This place is not nouvelle cuisine or some sort of fusion. Just very well prepared meals, with fresh ingredients that you should be familiar with. Dinners are cooked with care and creativity. Portions are on the large size, and prices are just right. Its, a cozy place, well decorated and frequented by locals who are comfortable here. Consequently conversations might be a little boisterous, but its ok. Service is emplicable. Knowledgeable servers like Nathaniel have no pretensions and the hosts that make you feel welcome. The wine list is extensive, and the house wines are vey good. Dessert are outstanding and large enough for 4+. Its a little bit our of the way if you are staying midtown, but its worth coming, just to get away from the perhaps overated and overpriced midtown and uptown rooms that usually have attitude.

What a great place

By Dan A |

Beautiful decor with beautiful colors and interesting art. Food is outstanding. We had the New Years specials of mushroom soup (to die for) and carpaccio (one of the best ever). The pasta dishes were very creative and outstanding (gnocchi with truffles was super with lots of truffles). Venison was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. Wines steward was very informative and a selected excellent reasonably priced wines (although the list is quite good and well priced). Meal was very reasonable cost especially for this area.

Fabulous! Simply fabulous!

By Memeheg |

We decided on Giorgio’s to celebrate my birthday, and what a treat it was. We actually missed our reservation time because of crazy NYC traffic, but Josh the manager made it all ok. We had drinks at the bar, then Josh showed us to a wonderful table from where we could see everything, including the bustle in the kitchen (which was spotless). The bartender is a true artisan - he makes his own infusions and drinks from them. My favorite was the Angry Bird, which included tequila infused with jalapeños - simply amazing. My husband had the aged Manhattan, which was delicious enough to make me change from my typical vodka martini. Dinner was delicious - our waiter and Josh both ensured that we had the most lovely evening. I had the veal parm - incredibly tasty. Veal was pounded thin and served with a small bit of sauce and topped with cheese. My husband had the scallops - also amazing. Our waiter arranged for us to have a special appetizer - risotto with lump crab and lobster sauce. I would come back to Giorgio’s just to have that again and again. And for dessert - if you’re a chocolate lover you have to save room for the s’mores chocolate bread pudding. The restaurant is small but cozy, and the noise level was low so that you could actually have a quiet conversation. Total bill was around $175 (including 4 cocktails) and well worth every penny.

Baked Alaska

By Maria G |

We greatly enjoyed eating a Giorgio’s of Gramercy. All the staff was friendly and responsive to requests. The cacio e pepe had too much pepper in it. The baked Alaska for dessert was great! Look Crema is available by the half bottle. My mother loved to of wasted oysters with mashed potatoes.

Love this Restaurant

By Ronnie K |

Arrived early for our reservation waiting on the rest of our dinner party, the Bartender is fabulous knows how to make all sorts of great drinks like a Manhattan with great conversation. Our dinner was superb My husband had Wild Mushroom Risotto it was delicious, I had Grilled Octopus, was fabulous. Our main course I had Sea Scallops that where huge and cooked perfect, my husband had Cioppino it was excellent, the shrimp was the largest I’ve seen. Service was excellent. Great wine our party of 5 had a great meal lovely atmosphere.

Giorgio's is a Gem!

By JerseyShoreJohn |

Seven of us dined here for the first time after a Sunday matinee; we will gladly go back. We ordered two Fritto Misto appetizers for the table and they were enjoyed by all. The seafood risotto special and the caramelized scallops both were superb. The shortribs were disappointing. Our server was attentive and accommodating to special requests. The wine list is limited and expensive (e.g., lowest price chardonnay was $68/bottle), about the only real minus for Giorgio's.

Neighborhood atmosphere

By cathy w |

This upscale trendy restaurant is obviously supported by the surrounding New York neighborhood, as many groups began arriving at 7pm. Being a house divided, one of us drinks red and one white, our server brought us a few samples to taste before ordering wine by the glass with great choices. Food, scallops, pasta, was delicious. The salad with white beans was tasty but a little too filling. Lovely complimentary sorbet was served at the end. A nice evening.

December Celebration . . .

By Traveler78121 |

Again and again . . . a neighborhood favorite for several years and an early December celebration for our party of 12-16. Love the service and attention we receive by our manager/hosts, Amy and Nick. As come back customers, we have memorized the menu, but the chef on December 7th was exceptional. Favorites were the Baked Oyster appetizer and Rack of Lamb entree. This year I chose the Squid Ink Pasta with Seafood. Each dish was perfectly prepared. Giorgio's of Gramercy is pricey, but even more so this year. Our party of 15 was hit with an expensive prix fixe menu. December merriment surcharge I guess? I'm going back soon during the off-peak season, with an intimate party of two.

Supreme!

By eatlovewander |

We have not been to Giorgio's in a very long time but last night we found ourselves in the neighborhood so we popped in for dinner. We are so glad we did! Better than ever! Every single morsel was DIVINE, our server was fantastic and the host even remembered us and we have not been there in years. We are so embarrassed it took us so long to come back to Giorgio's!

So good that we’re going again tonight!

By Jeannine C |

Delicious food, great atmosphere, lovely management and waiting staff - thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We had the roast chicken, the mixed fish bouillabaisse and the penne bolognese - perfect. Followed by the creme brûlée - too good for words! We’re staying close by at the Hotel Giraffe so decided to eat here again tonight and luckily they squeezed us in. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu. Really happy that we found this gem of a restaurant!

Romantic dinner

By Bruce E |

We just had an anniversary dinner at Giorgios. The food service and setting were all great and at reasonable prices. Would definitely go there again.

Pork Chop Paradise

By Allen P |

Very impressive service and food all around. The appetizers came very quickly, and the food was excellent across the board - fish, pork chop and steak. You know it is good when someone who formerly worked in the meat business said it was the best pork chop he ever had! Save room for dessert - the pistachio creme brulee is worth having regardless of calories.

Cozy and quiet

By susaninwoodstock |

I was only here for drinks but was sorry we hadn't made reservations for dinner. Unlike where we ended up, it was quiet, cozy and very intimate. An oasis in the city. Plus they brought us a great complimentary dessert when the bartender overheard it was my birthday. I'll be back!

Great food

By Elisabeth R |

This Italian restaurant has great atmosphere as well as good service and great meals. Our waiter Jordan was bubbly and efficient. They served lots of seafood. Our mussels in cheese sauce as well the oysters in black truffles were excellent! Our entrees were also very good, scallops, boullubaise, and veal parmasan. Yumm ! Desert was NY cheesecake , need I say more !

Fantastic!

Wonderful food, service and ambiance. It was so good the first time that I went back again a couple of days later.

Delightful ambience, even better food!

By Caroline W |

This was a lovely find in the Gramercy district of New York. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate - perfect for a date although I was in NY for business so no date for me! That was an immaterial detail, however, once the food arrived. I have wanted to try Burrata (a deliciously decadent and creamy variant of Mozzarella cheese) for ever and was completely satisfied with my choice of starter. Paired with a fig and cilantro coulis it was a feast for the eyes and palate. For my entree I chose the seared scallops with cauliflower, golden raisins (who would ever have thought of that combination but it was amazing!) and a balsamic glaze. Truly inspired! I virtually licked my plate (well, I thought about if for a second and then returned to my senses!) The service was impeccable - you are never sure what you are going to get when dining alone - but in this case it was wonderful. I really had to tear myself away before dessert which I couldn't have managed anyway as the portion sizes were generous. i can't recommend highly enough and look forward to returning next time I find myself in NYC.

always good food

I've been to this restaurant several times now and the food is very good consistently. It's a small place, intimate, not touristy.

Best meal we had in New York

By becki29031990 |

My partner took me to Giorgio's for my Birthday Meal as I love Italian food and we were so pleased we chose this place. Romantic and classy restaurant and the staff were so attentive and kind and each of them remembered it was my birthday and gave us a dessert free of charge and sang happy birthday. The best thing about this place was the food. We shared the porterhouse steak for our mean and it was the best steak we have ever had and we have eaten at some of the best steak restaurants! If we get the chance to go back to New York we would definitely go back here.

New Year's Eve

By nyctraveler230 |

Reserved a table for 7 for 8:30. Warmly welcomed and seated immediately. Nicely decorated for the holidays with moderate volume music and chatter. Drink orders took promptly although the wait person seemed a bit flustered. We commented among ourselves that she might not be a regular. Anyway, drinks arrived promptly and food orders taken. Appetizers arrived at a nice pace. Octopus a little tough in spots but nicely seasoned. Tuna tartare was excellent. The sausage combo was delicious. When the entrees arrived the veal parmiagana was the biggest portion our table had ever seen....there were gasps. As it turned out the parmiagana was covered with pasta. The dish was delicious. The rack of lamb was excellent as was the fish dishes. Nice size portions. The service was spotty and that might have been because it was difficult for wait or bus staff to get to some of our party because of seating configuration. Desserts were very good. Excellent value and a wonderful evening. Tab for the 7 of us came to about $650 including tip although only 5 of us had 1 drink apiece.

Great Food

By M B |

We came here, and had the Sea Scallops, the Steak, and the Smores Bread Pudding and we thought all the food was very good. The scallops were great I could not complain about them. My partner loved the steak. We shared the Smores Bread Pudding ad it was very rich in a pleasant way. The staff was amazing, and the customer service was the best. The bartender was especially nice, pausing to make small talk and recommendations about what food we should order. The whole restaurant is dimly lit, which works in their favor and creates a nice atmosphere.

BEST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER

By dhoward666 |

This was the best food, and I loved it because you got high quality, outstanding food, without being overly-stuffed because of the perfectly sized portions. !!!!!!!!********BEST DINNER EVER. MUST TRY*******!!!!!!!!!!

This is a romantic, welcoming place where the food never disappoints and you get good value for the money.

good but not great

By Kevin-and-Jo |

Maybe a bit generous with 4 stars but was better than average. The food and service was fairly good. The table was tiny!

Tasty Lunch

By travlngurl |

I shared a lovely chickpea salad with my friend, then we also shared shrimp scampi with angel hair for a delightful lunch. If you are in the Gramercy Park area, this is a nice place to go.

While it might not be obvious if you just walk past this place, on the inside you will find a classy restaurant with (almost always) excellent food and service. The menu changes seasonally, but would highly recommend the salad as a starter (so fresh!) and then whatever veal variation is currently on the menu. Wine list is good, and so are the desserts (particularly the Smores BP). If the biggest issues I can find are the decor being a bit bland/dark and the bread bowl being unimaginative and small, then you know that everything else must be great. Highly recommended!

Very Good Local Restaurant

By Kevin B |

Selected by my son because it was near where he works and had a great reputation among his co-workers. I was surprised how good the food and service was for a relatively small restaurant. I would definitely go back. The striped bass special was the best tried bass i can remember.

Great Evening!

By Martin S |

We loved the entire evening at Giorgio’s! Started with a couple of infused bourbon cocktails (clove/orange-mmm!). Then to the table where we had a great waiter. The menu had a lots to choose from. But we went simple: salad, ribeye and a bottle of wine. Salads were tasty and the right size - loved the beet salad. Ribeye was cooked to perfection and SO FLAVORFUL. Wine selection was excellent. Also had two sides- spinach and Brussel sprouts. So much flavor. It was an wonderful time - we will go again! This place has been here a long time - we know why!

Very nice dinner

Small restaurant, Suitable for couples or small parties. Food was very good. We shared steak which was well cooked and very tasty. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Don’t miss Giorgio’s of Gramercy

By Mark S |

From the time we entered Giorgio’s and the manager sat us at our table till we walked out the door, we were treated as if we were the only people in the restaurant. The server, Jazz, who also mixes a great cocktail, was fantastic. The food from appetizer to dessert was outstanding. Highly recommend if in the area!!!

Great place in the Flatiron!

By Michael C |

Met a friend who works in the area for lunch and I was very impressed. Non rushed and a great atmosphere. Friendly staff, nice menu and great food. I had the steak on a salad and she had a seafood pasta. I will be going back!!!

Unbelievable!!

By Daniel B |

Wife and I ate here the other night. Great atmosphere. We ordered the porterhouse for 2. Great presentation of the steak along with tasting amazing as well. Comes with 2 dipping sauces for the steak. We will definitely be back. One of our all time favorite meals.

Reliable Food Every Time

What a great find in one of my favorite neighborhoods!

By Sylvia P |

We found this place on TA and were not disappointed. I asked for a deconstructed Turkey Club sandwich (no gluten for me) and was pleasantly surprised by the presentation, the freshness, and the quantity I received. My husband had a delicious chicken Cesar salad that was chock full of fresh chicken. The entire staff could not have been nicer. As we were leaving we mentioned to Sascha, the manager, that we had come because of the TA reviews. She said they read and discuss them every day in their staff meetings. Now that's good customer service! I'm always impressed when a restaurant pays attention to their customer's feedback--so many can be arrogant and think they know better than us. Kudos to you and your staff Sascha for not falling into that trap. Hope to see you in Laguna Beach someday!

Great food, terrible waiter

By MAW12345 |

Dined here with my family on a Saturday night. It was very crowded and we were seated in the back next to the restroom, which was less than ideal. The water server spilled hot candle wax all over the table and rather than replace the tablecloth he draped a napkin over it. Even those issues would have been within the realm of acceptable however our waiter basically was AWOL for the entire meal. After taking our order he completely disappeared. If it had not been for the Maitre D' we most likely would have gotten up and left. The Maitre D' stepped up and took over for our waiter, who was too busy waiting on his other three tables with larger parties than ours and who blatantly ignored us anytime we tried to get his attention. The food was excellent, but I do not think I could return for another meal. I wish I could have left the tip for the Maitre D' because he was the one who truly deserved it.

One of my NY fave's

By Monique T |

I used to order catering from Giorgio's for about a year for my department meetings. Ordered variety of items from assorted sandwiches to hot meals and my team enjoyed it. I decided to go to the actual restaurant & have been going ever since. Haven't had a bad meal there yet. Food is always prepared to perfection & the staff is attentive & friendly, not over-bearing. Restaurant is small but very quaint. Atmosphere is very nice and calm. I have referred many NY visitors & haven't had a complaint yet! It can host a large group of 30 or less in their "private area" in the back. Groups larger than 30 would have to book the entire restaurant.

Value and Good Food.

By Nex C |

We were in Flatiron Distract looking for a good restaurant. We found this one tucked away inside 21 st Street, but offers really good food for the money. My wife ordered a tuna and I had scallops. The portion was pretty large for the price we were paying ($27 and 28). The tuna was like a steak and I had 6 large scallops. They were very fresh and cooked to perfection and not over done. The place was a bit small but felt intimate.

Giorgio's a Gem

By mrtymar |

The small restaurant did not receive a 5 star from me because we had reservations for 8:30 and were not seated until 9:30. I acknowledge that it's restaurant week in NY but still an hour wait is too long. The good thing is that Giorgio's themselves realize this is not acceptable and sent over complimentary appetizers and wine to our table. The food was very good, given the amount of people that were being served, and yet the kitchen did not dissapoint but amazed. The wait staff could not have been better. It was a hectic evening but our waiter still managed to give us excellent service. I'll definitely be back but not during restaurant week.

Excellent Food and Atmosphere

By Michael J |

There are a lot of Italian restaurants in New York to try, and this little gem in Gramercy Park is the best Italian I've had outside of Little Italy. Service was great, food was excellent (I had a gourmet mac and cheese that I wish I could have over and over again).

Don't miss it

By ZachsGrandma |

Staying near prior to cruise and happened on this little gem. Had pizza - margherita and pepperoni - and both amazing. Tiramisu desert was heaven on a plate. Nice neighborhood place where waiters knew regulars. All the dishes that came out looking so yummy. If you can be sure to visit this one.

Definitely worth it!

Cozy restaurant, very good waitstaff, delicious food. We were a group of 7 celebrating birthdays and a graduation, we had lots of fun and the staff made it possible. Great place!

Best restaurant to start off the New Year!

By Diana C |

My boyfriend did a great job choosing this restaurant. It was amazing, the decor was romantic, with candles lit throughout the restaurant with touches of flowers here and there. The host was very nice to us, we were seated in less than 10 minutes, we made reservations which was a great thing to do because it was a full house. I ordered the Papardelle, which was absolutely fantastic and my boyfriend ordered the salmon which was also fantastic. The drinks were just right and our waiter was so patient and pleasurable. I will definitely return to Giorgio's of Gramercy and will definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Great job Lovey!!!!!

One of many things, a Pescatarian Heaven!

By Snow401 |

If i had only known this Octopus dish was going to be so incredibly tender, tasty and to die for, I would have requested it for an entree! It was so good I had to make the other 3 tablemates taste it which left my plate empty sooner than later! However, I would do anything for the family members who were with me! Octopus, braised & grilled, frisee, fingerling potatoes, pine nuts, orange segments, citrus Vinaigrette, Oh La La! For my entree I had the Salmon which was cooked well as requested and to perfection....Cajun seared, watermelon, dodoni feta, poppy seeds, arugula, freshlemon, extra virgin olive oil with mashed potatoes. I topped this delicious meal off with peppermint tea. Can't wait to return to New York for a revisit!

Truly Amazing

By Frank11000 |

Had dinner with some friends at Girorgio's on a recent Saturday night. My wife and I had previously dined here a couple of years back and remembered it was pretty good. Since our friends asked us to pick the place for dinner, we felt a little pressure and hoped the place was still good. We had an 8 pm reservation and the place was packed when we arrived but sure enough, they had a table waiting for us and we were seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and it was clear that she loved her job and knew quite a bit about the menu. Three of us had the roasted oysters to and they were terrific. For dinner, our entries included red snapper, ahi tuna, salmon, and a veal chop. Everyone remarked how great their dinner was. While we were all pretty full from dinner and passed on dessert, our waitress brought out one of their desserts for the table to share and told us it was on the house. What a nice touch! If you are going to be in the City and are looking for a great place to eat, this is the place!

Loved it!

By calrocker |

Giorgio's was absolutely divine! I had the scallops, which are absolutely to die for. Cauliflower is usually like the last thing I ever want to eat, but somehow, combined with the scallops and the caramelized onions, it was exquisite. My date was in the mood for a burger and that was incredible as well. It's a festive atmosphere, and the employees are super nice. Nick the owner was there and running back and forth and working just like his employees. He even showed us video of his really cute dog running on a treadmill, which was hilarious!

Delicious food in upscale environment

By danibrig |

Very nice dinner spot here. Service was super friendly and switched our tables after we were seated when we asked for a more comfortable spot. Our appetizer came almost instantly, and the bottle of wine we had was at perfect temperature. We were not rushed at all during our meal and the food was simply delicious. Their "Bigeye Tuna" plate was perfectly prepared - just seared on the outside yet warm and rare on the inside. Our only slight complaint was the size of the appetizer (Tuna Tartare) which was a bit smaller than at most places.

EExcellent food and service

By 231sunnyz |

I decided to try this place out for a client dinner and I was very glad that I did. Staff made us feel welcome and the ambiance is warm and inviting (and not at all pretentious). The menu had a nice assortment of options. Portions were adequate. Menu was priced well. Presentation of food was attractive, but not over the top. The fish was very fresh and delicious, the bread was excellent and they had interesting, original menu items. The staff was flexible and patiently addressed my dietary concerns. I would definitely go back and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Great hidden gem

By Douges888 |

We have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Giorgione is always reinventing its menu and serving truly wonderful meals by friendly waitstaff. Wine selection is good, & reasonable. Far outperforms its small dining room and bar.

Saved by the Maitre D'

By bw411 |

It was a busy Saturday night and the wait staff was clearly not prepared to handle the customers. Upon arrival, we were told it would be a few minutes until our table was ready, which was fine as we found a few seats at the bar. The problems started then as it turned out the bartender did not return for 15 minutes. We watched the wait staff come into the bar and make their own drinks why we sat and waited with no drink. The bartender returned just in time to make us a drink to bring to our table. The restaurant was pleasant, but the tables were crowded quite closely together. Our table was all the way in the back next to the bathroom. I sat next to a curtain that blocked the view of the bathroom. During the course of my evening, there must have been 50 people go through the curtain that was leaning against the back of my chair. Our waiter was prompt at first, but shortly after being seated, he had two parties of six sit at his other tables and we basically never saw him again. I had to flag down the Maitre D' to get a glass of wine and he basically took over our service after that. Our appetizers took 30 minutes to arrive which we were OK with, but then our meals showed up while we were still enjoying our appetizers. They did take them back, but they also rushed us through our appetizers and brought the same meals back 10 minutes later. The food was solid and on a quiet night, I might give the restaurant a "5". It it wasn't for the Maitre D' the night would have been a "1"

Flavor with a little bit of soul

By GLORIA L |

This happening spot in the heart of the Flatiron District in Mahattan had the ambience for a romantic dinner. A lot of energy for the evening crowd. Not a lot of elbow room but an enjoyable meal. I was there dining with a friend. Our server pleasant, helpful and attentive. I went for the bone in steak with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed brussel sprouts which had an amazing taste together. Each dish complimented the other. The spinach could have used some seasoning. My friend had the seafood pasta dish which she got as a appetizer portion. Then she went for the sea scallops dish which is one of their popular items. Mmm good. We were satisfied with our food selection. We completed our meal with the creme brulee with biscotti made just right for the after dinner dessert. Open Table reservations and a living social voucher what a combination for a meal on a budget with a good friend.

Gem in Flatiron

By sandandskynow |

Came here at the recommendation of my Amex concierge. Safe to say I have a new favorite in the Flatiron neighborhood. We had a 8:30 seating on a Saturday and the place was packed. The setting is pretty typical for New York in the sense the tables are smaller and pretty close together. It's a nice intimidate space for dates and catching up with friends. I wouldn't call it family, namely small children, friendly. The menu selection is nice and prices are reasonable. My mussel starter, though decent, came at a surprising soup form; the highlight of my meal was definitely the baked Macaroni with chicken and chorizo (you pay an uncharge for protein). It was super flavorful and the serving portion was very generous. We chose their famous pumpkin cheesecake as our after meal sweet and it was gone in matter of minutes. Our waiter was friendly and courteous throughout the entire meal. At the end of our meal, he bought us some delicious Moscato to toast to the weekend together. Overall I would say while it's not a culinary experience, but Giorgio's of Gramercy is a great little place with wonderful food and people. It was a perfect dinner and I can't wait to come back.

The ambiance is wonderful & they have live music

By Evelynne G |

The staff the ambiance and the food are all excellent. We had a Tuna Tartar and Sesame coated Tuna. Both of them were sensational. The Sesame Tuna had julienne vegetables & Rice Noodles with a delicious ginger sauce . A dish worth ordering it was sensational.

Great Service, Wonderful Food

By moseleme |

We had our engagement at Giorgio's back in April and it was a truly memorable time. We live abroad but the General Manager made the booking and menu selection a breeze. Do not let the size of the place deter you from bringing a large group, we even had a few larger gentlemen in our group and it was not an issue. The service and food were both impeccable. I highly recommend the buratta and lamb. We cannot wait for our next visit!

Consistently good continental neighborhood bistro

By zachnyc |

This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. It is always delicious, with excellent service, good food, changing menu, ample portions and lovely ambiance. We were warmly greeted and assisted by our hostess Leonardo, and efficiently and gracefully served by Elizabeth with much charm. We started with the very large starter of frito misto and the grilled octopus with fingerling potatoes. One starter would have easily sufficed. Our mains were the scallops with bits of roasted cauliflower, raisins, pine nuts and a delicious balsamic vinaigrette that hinted almost of mole. Absolutely delicious. The second entree was seared tuna, served black and blue as requested with a sesame crust over a bed of deliciously seasoned soba noodles with leeks. We ended up taking half of it home as it was so large. Although we ordered dessert (the cheesecake on a lady finger crust), we ended up taking that for tomorrow nights indulgence as well! Although tables are very close together, the warm salon bistro style atmosphere and good acoustics make for a delightful and even romantic setting. Highly recommended!

Terrific - even with teenagers!

By Cormac555 |

Smallish discrete restaurant down 21st street. Quite ambient once inside. Food was excellent. My teenage kids had Penne. We had oysters followed by tuna (me) and scallops (wife). Both brilliant. Two sides of vegetables - broccoli and asparagus - were delicious and were fed to the kids to try and offset a weeks worth of hamburgers and hotdogs. Wine was about $50 for a bottle of Chablis - but I guess that is typical for NY. Great knowledgable service as well. Definitely would recommend. 10/10.

Good prices, decent food

By KT9876543210 |

They were able to get our party of 7 in without a reservation on a Saturday night (we had to wait an hour) - food was decently priced for the city - the waitress spilled our drinks - but bought us dessert to make up for it.

Amazing!!!!

By lawrence137 |

I found this little jewel in Manhattan while on vacation last week so I dined there for lunch. The decor is beautiful but not pretentious, the food exceptional and not over priced. James the server was knowledgeable of the menu offerings and prompt, I was able to meet Nick the owner who was very hospitable, but he star of the show was Sasha the GM. I happened to be alone on this day and she visited my table several times and allowed me to feel very at home not snobby that can be the case at some other downtown establishments. I can't wait to go back to Giorgio's, this time for dinner, I hear the steak is to die for.

Birthday Bash

Had an amazing time! The food was great and the server was so nice and accommodating. Will definitely come back! The tuna tartare and the roasted oysters were to die for!

A Hidden Gem Between The Parks - Gramercy and Madison

By Douglas J |

It was about 2:30 on a late Thursday afternoon. We hadn’t been to Giorgio’s before, but the sidewalk tables looked inviting and we were hungry. When we walked in, we were greeted by a very pleasant gentleman who invited us to a table. We asked to sit at the cozy, intimate and well appointed bar and he agreed, preparing a place setting and offering a great wine list. We chose a delicious unpacked Chardonnay. He explained that their pastas are handmade, and several of the entrees have been on the menu since opening. We selected the handmade Caesar and the spaghetti with chicken. Wow. Both were delicious. The lettuce was crisp and the dressing was appropriately tart. When the pasta came, the dish was beautiful. The flavors were deep and rich. A small bunch of basil crowned a pile of steaming homemade noodles, tender braised chicken all swimming in tomato cream sauce. It’s exactly what I love about the City: Finding hidden gems that are worth bragging about. And going back to. We will! See you there.

Nice evening meal

My wife and I Visited recently I had Duck and noodle dish which was absolutely excellent! She had chicken and loved it. The band provided the required ambience,Thanks Giorgio's

Returned After Many Years

By jbgshrink |

This had been one of our "go to" restaurants but we hadn't been here for many years. I was anxious to see if their food held up to the past. We went early as we were dining with friends and wanted it to be quiet. My first disappointments were that the place was too darkly lit ie we couldn't read the menu without bringing candles over to see it and the music was too loud and not conducive to having a relaxing meal. I ordered tuna tartare as an appetizer. Instead of it being the usual chopped tuna mixed with avocado it was pieces of slightly seared tuna accompanied by an avocado puree. It was O.K. My entree was a dish that I remember ordering years ago and I loved it then. It was scallops over a cauliflower puree with raisins and nuts in it and the fish had a balsamic sauce. Well, this dish was good but not spectacular the way the chef made it in the past when there was carmelization and much more depth of flavor. Two friends had the Berkshire pork chop and liked it very much. Deserts were good. Would I return ? Yes, but not with the excitement of the past.

Best around

By Chef James R |

This is a small place but feels like it takes up the entire block. I'll put the quality of service, friendliness of the staff, freshness and execution of the food up against anyplace in the city. I love the tartare and can't visit without having the risotto.

Restaurant Week Win

By Rhuizinga |

A restaurant needs to do 3 things well: have great food, have great ambiance, and have great service. We went to Giorgio's due to NYC restaurant week and we were not disappointed. The branzino was light and delicately flavored. The tuna/salmon tartare was outstanding, and the gelato finished the evening quite nicely. The service was well done and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. All told--a great win by Giorgio's.

Atrocious

By Hudson A |

Me and my family came here last night for a special occasion only to have waited ages for a table and 1 hour for food once i had spoken to the manager who was extremely rude the food came out and it was very bland and not the expectations I expected for the wait we had to endure.

Really nice place.

By Michael S |

Really nice restaurant! Good food, pleasant environment, good and non pretentious service. Highly recommend going there. I had a Burata appetizer, and the Chilean sea bass dinner, it was excellent, and the noise level was perfect enabling reasonable conversation, with a pleasant background buzz.

Fantastic Girls Night Out Dinner in the City!

By Heather A. |

Just had a wonderful dinner at this little gem of a restaurant this past Saturday night. Ambiance is perfect with minimum noise level, but most of all was our service from Igor and the food. Initially a bit of confusion because Open Table confirmed our reservations for a totally different time than the restaurant showed; however, all worked out. Enjoyed a nice glass of wine and a fantastic freshly made Burrata with fig coulis at the bar and then had 4 different half size portions of pasta split between 2 of us for dinner. Best pasta hands down was the Veal Pappardelle made with braised veal, tomato ragu and fresh mozzarella. Kitchen and staff were very accommodating about changing a few ingredients if necessary which can be a bit tricky with a Saturday dinner service. I had just returned from a long trip to Bologna Italy and this dish was so much better than what I had in several restaurants overseas!!

A Pleasant Surprise

By Stanley B |

Giorgio's of Gramercy was a pleasant surprise. We chose Giorgio's for it's convenient location, but will go back for the food and service. We were a party of five plus an 18 month old toddler. I called before making a reservation, to make sure they could accommodate a stroller along side the table. They could not have been nicer. When we arrived, we were seated at a spacious table with open room for the stroller. The food was outstanding. After a delicious salad with truffle oil dressing, my daughter and I shared the Duck Breast and Filet Mignon entrees. Both were large portions, served medium rare, and cooked to perfection. The staff was highly attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. It seemed there was always someone to fill a water glass or to assure our dining needs were being met. While we were taking advantage of NYC Restaurant Week special pricing, we look forward to many future visits. I highly recommend giving them a try.

Cozy but food did not quite deliver

By MiksterCT |

Place was jumping on a Wednesday night; Holiday season in the city is in full swing despite the warm temps. Buzz was good at Giorgio's and so was the bartender in nice but cramped bar. Tables are jammed in pretty tight in the main dining area and it's a little loud, but hey, we're in NY, whaddaya want? Service was really outstanding but the food just didn't quite deliver. We tried four different salads and four different pasta dishes and were underwhelmed by all of them. I will say this: the bill was very reasonable. And as stated earlier, the service extraordinary. But I did not put one bite of memorable food into my mouth... and I tried every dish. The risotto was the best of the bunch but even that doesn't make me yearn to return.

Hidden gem. Really ... it's hidden.

By CADreamin |

This was the reservation that almost wasn't thanks to Google AND the constant renovation that seems to happen in New York. It took us forever to find the restaurant since Goodle kept sending us the wrong way and it wasn't until we saw the Giogio's sign, pasted on a temporary scaffolding structure in front that we arrived. Whew!! When we walked in, all you see is the small-ish bar area but go beyond that and the room opens up (not a lot, but it's ample). We were seated immediately and everything from that point on moved like clockwork. Our questions were answered, drinks delivered, etc., etc. When our food arrived we were amazed at the quality, especially since it was Restaurant Week and, sometimes, the items on that menu are 'iffy' at best. Giogio's did not disappoint and we would recommend it to anyone visiting New York!! (Note: It isn't a large restaurant so, if you have a large party, and unless there's a banquet room lurking nearby, you may not fit.)

Wonderful dining experience!

By Blaithin |

This restaurant was just around the corner from where my Husband & I were staying, so we had to try it out. We got a table down the back.. First impressions.. Seems abit too "dimly lit", it was so dimly lit that the table beside us who were a lot older had their mobile phones out & were using the torch to see the menu. Lol. However this is the one and only negative!! From the moment we arrived, the waiters were very attentive and professional. For Starters I had avocado toast (Pitta) and my husband had lentil soup, they were both well presented and very nice. For mains we both had steak, my husband had truffle fries and I had Parmesan & lemon & herb fries. The steaks were very good but the piece de resistance for me was the Truffle Fries (the waiter had warned that my husband wouldn't regret ordering them & boy was he right!). They were amazing!! It's probably good that I didn't order them because they come in large potions and I wouldn't have left a single one! I enjoyed my fries but once you've tasted truffle fries..there is no going back!! For dessert we shared Baked Alaska which was "ok", my husband seemed to have a memory of it being better.. We finished it all off with espressos, the coffee was average. However in general, the food and service was excellent and if we get back to NY, we know where we are going!

10 out of 10

By TheItalianTopDog |

This place is probably the best place I've been to for years The staff is accommodating, genuinely friendly and caring. And the food is excellent. The cocktails are great and the barman a combating. The young lady on reception is helpful and cheerful and the Chap that took our order professional.

Average at best - good service tho.

By Oceanliner75 |

I had heard of this restaurant - it has been around for over 20 years - but went for the first time this past week. The food was so so but the service was good at both the bar & dinner table. I also did not like being squeezed into the table for 2. It did seem to have its regulars at the bar.

Desserts to die for!!

By IrishFan-80 |

Our 1st dinner here and we were not disappointed. Nice entree choices to please everyone---scallops were delish. Service was outstanding---a nice team effort. But you MUST save room for dessert. The tiramisu was the best ever....and fig creme brulee right with it. Highly recommend.

Giorgio's is Great!

By Dave R |

Great atmosphere. Hostess was very accommodating, but waiter was competent but not very personable. Food was excellent. I like that they have half portions on their pasta dishes, as the servings are very large. Baked prosciutto macaroni was excellent.

Great NY Italian

By Karenbowes |

Loved this place. Great atmosphere and great food. Signature baked scallops lovely. Only 4 stars as again, just because I wast travelling alone, they tried to put me in a corner right at the concierge desk. I asked for a different table and ended up sitting next to a great table of NU guys celebrating a birthday. I do not understand why restaurants insist on trying to put you on the rubbish table because you are alone. Fight back and demand more. Otherwise great.

Inconsistent

By snoogle |

When this place is on it's really good but when it is not it's mediocre at best. I'm not sure if they have different chefs on different nights or what the problem is but the first few times I tried it, I had a fantastic meal so I started recommending it to friends and taking people there when in the neighborhood and unfortunately discovered that it lacks consistency and quality. If they can iron out whatever is causing these issues they would really have a solid restaurant. The staff are very friendly and accommodating especially when busy so it's a place that I want to succeed.

Word is getting out.

By dan11226 |

Word is getting out. This small, but nicely appointed restaurant is becoming popular. Indeed on a Saturday night the restaurant was over booked. While service was professional, dinner took 2.5 hours and we were seated a half hour after our reservation. Perhaps the reason was the quality of the food, which was first rate and delivered hot to the table. The appetizers are interesting and most of the pasta dishes can be ordered in half portions. The polvo was done correctly, beets served on top of a gorgonzola sauce was very nice. Main courses were also very good. The Lamb was done correctly; the sea bass was tasty but the portion small. Veal parmigiana was done with parmesan cheese not mozzarella and was first rate. Only this dish was several times the size of the sea bass---portion control. The Tres leches strawberry cake was immense and wonderful Dinner for four with an inexpensive Chenin Blanc was $ 400. I would definitely go again.

Nice atmosphere

By burban |

I picked this place for dinner based on other reviews and because it was near our hotel in Gramercy. I also knew they stayed open a bit late and we were looking for a place to have dinner around 10pm. I really liked the atmosphere and the food was pretty good. I think the prices were very fair for a NYC restaurant with this level of service and atmosphere. I got the sea scallops and they were cooked perfect. Only 3 to the plate but was sufficient portion for me. My husband got a mixed seafood dish and wasn't super impressed but thought it was pretty good. Overall I would recommend it.

A Lovely Experience!

By Carol M |

We had a living Social Certificate for this restaurant that we purchased before our trip to New York. We had such a great experience that we will return whenever we are back! The food was excellent! the staff was very friendly and made us feel very special! We were celebrating our anniversary, and even though we already got a huge discount with the certificate, They brought out a dessert with a "Happy Anniversary" message on it and also 2 glasses of prosecco on the house! Definitely recommend!

Hidden Gem

Wow, Great Place. Food was great and very big portions even the sides were big. Great Value for Manhattan, the staff were very welcoming. Our Server Haley K . Was very helpful with the menu and her good suggestions. We will definitely be back soon.

Delicious steak

We visited Georgio's as recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We shared the porterhouse steak and it was cooked to perfection. The cocktails were also very well made and presented. For New York it was also very good value.

FIVE STARS IF THEY COULD SERVE A DECENT CAPPUCCINO

By nezzie |

This was our 4th visit and we brought two couples who had never been before. We came early (6:30) in the hopes of avoiding an overly loud atmosphere. We wanted to hear ourselves talk! Our table for six was in the very very back of the restaurant by the restroom curtain and under the speaker. The music was an issue right from the start but they were kind enough to adjust that speaker. The restaurant was quickly filled and a few noisy tables made us wish for earplugs. The food, however, was wonderful.....and for that we were glad. Tuna and Sea Scallop entrees were outstanding, as was the Roast Chicken. But the CAPPUCCINO? You've got to be kidding. Tasted like Maxwell House with lots of foam and a little cinnamon. Horribly disappointing and a great way to ruin a good meal. Noisy tables are out of their control but the overly loud music(?) and the lousy coffee need to be fixed. We'll probably go back but we'll sit up front and skip coffee.

Walking by with a friend we popped in without reservations and were offered a table in front to the window where we could watch fresh pasta being prepared (covid restrictions / outdoor dining). We opted for the evening special of fish over cous cous in a coconut curry sauce with veggies .... all I can say is YUM! It was a nice size serving and absolutely divine. Overall good service and a very nice experience. A tad pricey but worth it for a special out on the town. Would definitely return.

Very dark interior. We had to use our phone flashlights to read the menu. One of our party just ordered a salad but half the things it said would be in it weren't. It was mostly romaine and a few slices of radish with dressing. The desserts tasted stale. Service was excellent, though.

A great night of food and fun before the storm of 2016!

By legzlie |

Two of my friends from ABC news and I decided to spend a cold Friday night eating and drinking at Giorgio's the night before the Storm of 2016. I ordered the spicy Margarita...it was ok. Half way through the meal, the hostess filled our water glasses and filled my margarita with water....they brought me another one....LOL We took advantage of their fabulous Restaurant Week menu. We started with the fabulous Mushroom & Cheddar soup & the Parmesan Beet Salad. For entree's we had the NY Strip, duck & the Chilean Sea Bass, all excellent. For dessert, 2 ordered the Bread Pudding (which was fabulous) and I ordered the poached pear...which was a poached pear! The evening was great and food tasty.

Hidden gem in Gramercy

By Niko1214 |

Tucked away on a side street in Gramercy, this hidden gem is a throwback to old New York. Incredible attentive service and amazing food. The four cheese ravioli and veal parmesan were truly delectable. Highly recommend this place!

great evening

great décor, service and the meal was great. Very good oysters, halibut special that was both excellent and ample. Crème brulee desert was good. A nice Sancerre too.

Sensational. The Food, The Service, The Atmosphere

By judytraveller |

Restaurant Week in NYC is such a joy but it is difficult to choose where to dine when there are so many choices. A friend was treating me to lunch, my choice, and I found Giorgio's of Gramercy by sheer luck. We went for lunch and from the outside it looks similar to many other restaurants in NYC. Once inside though I was astonished by the design and decor. Although it was brilliant sunshine outside, inside the restaurant was burgundy with velvet drapes and soft lighting. But, not so dim that you couldn't read the menu. In the front on the right side as you enter there is a long bar with small tables along side the left wall. Past the bar and up one step is a larger dining room and we were seated at a table where one could see into the kitchen but away from the traffic of the waiters. The room was fairly crowded and there was a large group but neither of us found them noisy, it was easy to have a normal conversational tone. Being restaurant week there was a special menu with lunch priced at $25.00 for the appetizer, entree and dessert. We ordered, my friend decided on the steak and I had the grilled cod with corn salsa. My appetizer was ciabatta with fresh mozzarella and fig jam and for dessert I had the ice cream trio. The other appetizer that was ordered with the steak was shrimp with artichokes and dessert was a "s'mores" chocolate bread pudding. I then had coffee, which was extra, and that rounded out my lunch. This was one of the most delicious meals I had eaten. In fact, it was so good I told a couple of friends about how sensational I thought the food was and that there was still time to take advantage of Restaurant Week. We made reservations for the following week and although there were many different choices on the menu we all decided on the grilled cod fish for our entree. And, they agreed with me that this was one of the best meals we'd eaten. it is a lovely restaurant with lots of atmosphere, quietly efficient in their service and with wonderful food. I certainly look forward to dining out here again.

Not that great

Wines are so so, food is average, service is a little slow though everyone was extremely nice. Average prices. Overall not an exciting experience.

Great Happy Hour!

By Catherine L |

We happened upon this place because we were early for a dinner reservation across the street. It was very cozy and the had a great happy hour. I was intrigued and would like to go back and try the restaurant or meet friends for drinks.

The ambiance was great...

By Jdelagana |

The food was not up to par. Everyone in our party took a few bites and left the rest. I would not recommend Giorgio's for the food.

Consistently Good Food

By Antionio10 |

I have been to Giorgio's a few times and have consistently had a good meal. The burgers, salads, pasta dishes are all good. Service was slow, even when we were the only ones in the restaurant. The restaurant did fill up by the time we left and the service remained slow. Seating is only outdoors during Covid.

Great italian find in NYC

By nmhen |

I know it's hard to find an italian restaurant in NYC....but Giorgio's is worth a visit. No obnxious red and white checkered table cloths, sticky menus, and other tacky Little Italy trappings. Typical NYC shotgun layout. Kitchen window right into dining room. Friendly service. Best veal parm I've ever had. Huge veal chop (bone-in), perfectly cooked. Just enough parm, good sauce, and perfect amount of pasta. Kids had a pasta bolognese. Sauce had very good flavor, more cream than typical, but it was delicious. Dinner for four, $210 including tip. Definitely recommended.

Great service and great food!

By KGBridgeport |

My husband and I visited Saturday Nov 28th. Used a LivingSocial voucher for 2 apps, 2 entrees and 1 dessert for $75. Beyond worth what you actually receive. The service was impeccable. Water glasses never empty. Seated promptly by hostess. We had Amy as our server. She was warm and welcoming and offered suggestions. I had the mixed greens and my husband had the roasted oysters with bacon. My salad was so very tasty. And my husband actually wanted a spoon to drink the broth from his oysters they were so good. For entrees we had the salmon and NY strip. To finish off we had the trio of gelato. A wonderful meal overall. Will most definitely be back.

Fantastic in every way!

By Valerie L |

We loved everything about this restaurant! The food was amazing and the staff was even more amazing. The decor is cool as is the bar. The drinks and wine selections are wonderful and fairly priced based on Manhattan prices. I had a Halibut special that was so fresh and flavorful, my husband had the Penne Bolognese - huge portion and delicious and my son had Caccio Pepe pasta which was super yummy as well. We will definitely be back here!

Insanely good salad

By Alan B |

New take on a salad. Grilled veggies over greens but instead of grilled chicken on top, bartender recommended the roasted chicken. Soooooo good. Great service and nice atmosphere to boot

Great food and cocktails!

By SharonInKY |

The service from Ernesto was impeccable and the aged Manhattan cocktail was truly delicious. The beet salad delivered on all kinds of flavor and the veggie capellini was perfectly cooked.

On Repeat!!!

By Tania J |

Excellent service! The food was delicious and nice atmosphere. We had Octopus, Red Snapper, Roasted Chicken, Burger and Penne A La Vodka and everything was absolutely delish!!!! Bread pudding for dessert was also a good choice.

Excellent food, service, ambience for moderate prices

By William0715 |

Very lovely room with beautiful floral displays; tight but comfortable seating, one could actually hear and converse; food was all delicious, 2 of us went with the prix fixe. Would recommend.

Quaint place near Gramercy

By ListWestchester |

Interesting place. Place is small and intimate. Staff is there for you. Food was good. We had the barrata, oysters and mussel soup for appetizers. The veal parmesan was delicious and the scallops were good but not enough to satisfy a man's appetite. The blood orange cheescake and s'mores cake were heavenly. Would go back again.

An NYC Restaurant that Should Not be Missed

By MLENYC |

The bartender is busy when you walk in, but still has time to smile and say hello. You're greeted by Amy, the manager, who seats you with just the right amount of warmth and professionalism. Your waiter arrives, and you're certain you're in good hands. And ready for a happy restaurant experience. This is a place that knows how to care for its guests. And how to feed them well: The menu is perfectly designed to please so many tastes. I can't draw attention to any one item, because all are so perfectly executed. Sit back, relax, enjoy a delicious cocktail. And save room for dessert.

A Disappointing Meal

By Liane C |

After reading other reviews, it seems like I may be an outlier in my experiences at Giorgio's, but nonetheless, I have to report that my experience left me thinking "mehhhh." I went Saturday night as part of a larger group. For half of us, it was our first time at Giorgio's. The other half had been there many times before and were raving. I was optimistic. After being seated we started with cocktails. Mine was okay, but my boyfriend reported that his old fashioned was pretty terrible. For an appetizer we shared oysters on the half shell. They were pretty standard. No complaints. It had taken a while for the waiter to take our order, so by the time we got our entrees I was pretty hungry. I had ordered a linguine dish with lobster and shrimp. There were only two shrimp in the dish and I had to search hard to find any lobster. For me the bigger issue, though, was the sauce. It just tasted on par with being out of a jar. The dish wasn't terrible, just disappointing after all of the positive things we had heard about Giorgio's. For an expensive meal I expect to leave happy. This just wasn't the case at Giorgio's. Maybe it was an off night.

Super lunch restaurant

By Carlarsen |

Testing trip advisor in the neighbourhood and this very excellent restaurant came up. We had the two courses menu with caprese respectively fried calamari. As mains we had scallops respectively filet mignon. All very delicious and visually attractive. This restaurant is definitely recommendable for lunch.

Great atmosphere, service, and nice food

By Kat A |

Came in on a Tuesday evening, and while it was relatively full, we still got a table. The restaurant is a bit dark, with what I would describe as 'atmospheric mood lighting'. If you want a nice romantic dinner, this would definitely be a good place to go. Though, if you are not wanting anything romantic, it is still a really nice place! The service was excellent as well. Our server came back just the right amount, was very friendly and helpful with selections. The food was very good, not the best I've had in my life, but still great. I had a New York strip, which was cooked to my liking (always a plus), others had risotto (which was very well liked), and a burger. You can see from the menu that there is a good range of food on the menu, probably something for everyone. To conclude, if you want some very nice food, drinks, and atmosphere, with great service, this is definitely a place I'd go. In our trip to New York City, this restaurant stood out for me as the best overall experience.

Giorgio's of Gramercy an Absolute Gem!

By wspear33 |

My Wife, Daughter and I went to Giorgio's of Gramercy and it was a Great Find. The service is outstanding. James was our server and he offered excellent suggestions and made sure we were treated like Royalty. James is worth asking for! I had the New York Steak and Gorgonzola with Potato Gratin. It was richly flavored, tender and a really nice cut! My wife had a fish special - Grilled Halibut with tempura asparagus and potatoes over a zucchini/corn succotash - she thought it was just fantastic! My daughter got the Lamb and their Truffle Fries, both were a real treat and I highly recommend them. Our dishes were rather diverse but we received a great wine pairing suggestion - A Red Burgundy from Ladriox. It was wonderful and it came at really great price. In fact I would highlight that their wine prices by the bottle are an exceptional deal! Make sure to leave room for a fabulous dessert - the S'more Bread Pudding is just fantastic!! Giorgio's of Gramercy is a value, their quality/price ratio on food and wine is just outstanding,! We will be back!

Disappointed

By Sylvia M |

My friend had eaten here before & always enjoyed her meals. We went New Year's Eve and the service was good. However, the food, terrible. I ordered the Farmer's Salad & it was the most boring and bland salad I have ever eaten. My friend also felt the same way about the salad. My friend had the Bigeye Tuna & said it wasn't very good. My entre order was the Capellini. I asked them not to add the chili flakes & the waitress said fine. I received the Capellini with the chili flakes & had to return it & wait for another. I had two bites & didn't like it. When the bill came, we were overcharged $61.00 for cocktails we didn't have. Of course, they apologized and we had to wait for a corrected bill. I believe the manager should have offered dessert or a drink on the house for this type of error. If you are vegetarian, other than the salads & one or two other items everything contains meat or seafood. Also, it is a very noisy place. I would not suggest it for a romantic dinner. I don't suggest it at all.

Rehearsal Dinner Paradise

By Murry S |

About 75 of us went to Giorgio's for a wedding rehearsal dinner. This is a very intimate place, and James Shay, the wine director, worked hard to serve our large private party. The restaurant was closed to the public for this event, which filled every table. We were all surprised to see the full menu at our seats. This meant six entree choices, three appetizers and a couple of desserts. The entrees included a NY strip, roast chicken, giant pork chop, bigeye tune, cappellini and papardelle. Our table pretty much ordered the whole menu, and everyone raved. Each entree was meticulously prepared and served in a fashion noted by many other Giorgio's fans. My appetizer of Fritto Misto was absolutely wonderful, although it was much different than the same-named dish in Italy or Switzerland. I've never been a fan of bread pudding as a dessert, but now I am. Giorgio's s'more bread pudding is a must-have, guys. And the other choice, gelato sampler, is a generous housemade concoction everyone loved. We had an open bar for the night, and Mr. Shay made certain that everyone achieved their heart's delight. This was the perfect setting and meal for wedding rehearsal. Thanks to our hosts and to the splendid wait staff at Giorgio's of Gramercy.

Elegant, classy

By GJG |

My son and friend brought me here for my birthday. Everything about it was lovely. The decor is warm and elegant. The Staff is top notch. Very professional and friendly and helpful at the same time. Food was presented beautifully. My chicken was extremely tender. All of our entrees were perfect. We shared the S'more Bread Pudding for dessert---wonderful! It was quite the perfect ending for our meal.

Fabulous authentic mid town eatery

By flo |

Best food so far in New York! Wonderful fresh authentic home made … and charming service too. Not usually a pudding person, but the 2 we tried were to die for 👍👍

Nice place for dinner

By pattyrab |

The athmosphere of the restaurante is nice, not too noisy and with good service. Menu is quite simple but good. We shared a plate (pork with potatos), however, the portion was not that big. Prices are reasonable for the area. Close to the metro (6).

Perfect husband's birthday dinner

By SimplyAraXo |

When we arrived we were asked if we preferred the most romantic table in the restaurant, and of course my answer was, "YES!". My husband was truly impressed with the atmosphere and the service. I ordered the lamb chops, I must say these were by far the best lamb chops I've had in my life. The wine selection was amazing and prices were not bad. Once we were done with our dinner, I had given special instructions when I made the reservation to bring out the Chef's dessert selection for the night. I'm so glad I let this decision up to the chef, he brought out the best birthday Italian dessert ever. I definitely earned brownie points in my husband's book for this one. :)

We had a great experience at Giorgio's!

By rsparmiter |

We stayed overnight in an apartment nearby and a neighbor suggested Giorgio's for dinner. I'm sure glad she did! My wife and I settled into the bar as we waited on our table. The bartender Brian Doyle provided such great crafted cocktails and service; we decided to eat dinner at the bar. His recommendation of the Veal Parmesan was spot on! It was incredible and he paired it with a terrific bottle of wine. Don't leave without deserts; they were so good that you forget about the calories. We ordered their famous S'more bread pudding but were surprised with an additional fruit pastry that they just made and were looking for sampling feedback. Both were UNBELIEVABLE! Great experience. Ready to go back again.

Excellent Lunch in the City!

By cmp308 |

My husband and I were in the city on a Thursday, hunting for somewhere to eat. Thankfully we stumbled upon Giorgio's of Gramercy! It's such a unique, rustic, Italian restaurant. Aside from on other party, the restaurant was empty when we went. They started us with bread, olive oil and olives. Our entrees, two pasta dishes, were delicious! The portions were just right and they came out quickly - perfect for lunch time!

Very Impressive

By Susan C |

My boyfriend and I were visiting NYC from Seattle, WA for my 50th birthday. After a full day of sight seeing, I wanted a nice Italian dinner to celebrate. I found Giorgio’s of Gramercy on Trip Adviser and we showed up without a reservation. Brian seated us right away. He was very attentive and gave us some great tips for what to see and do while we were in the city. Our waiter Galieb was also very friendly and attentive. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING. We stared with the oyster appetizer (I don’t typically enjoy oysters but actually had two of these!). We also shared the veal pasta dish as a second appetizer and would definitely have enjoyed it as a meal. Although we both were very happy with our meal choices; lamb chops and the baked Mac and cheese. Both portions were generous. Then the whole experience was pleasantly ended with the s’more bread pudding that we shared. I’ve found that bread pudding is really hit or miss and this one was absolutely a hit, best bread pudding I’ve ever had! If you are looking for excellent food and service, you can’t go wrong with Giorgio’s!

The place I always recommend

By Vladimir D |

Fantastic food, great service, cozy ambiance - Giorgio's has been the place for all our family celebrations since 2008. No matter what's the occasion - it's always been festive. Highly recommended!

Love the atmosphere!

By Leti L |

I've got a few times now and each time has been very pleasant. Their food is delicious and their service is amazing. I will definitely be going back. MUST have their desserts! You won't regret it.

Good atmosphere. Food was so-so.

By Runwaychic |

I carefully take my time looking at reviews before I travel, so I chose Giorgio's based on the superb reviews here on Tripadvisor. I will say, this is the first time where the glowing reviews just didn't match our experience. Service was excellent (very nice waiter and staff). Food was - so-so. Disappointed in the additional chef selections for the evening (soup was a fancy won-ton) and not much for us non-seafood folks. My meal was okay, and my husband's salmon was good. There wasn't anything "wrong" with the food, but nothing tremendous or outstanding that you'd expect from a restaurant that has this high of reviews here on TripAdvisor. It just didn't match-up to what I had read, which was odd. The prices were good, though; would have been disappointed paying more for a mediocre dinner. Chocolate bread pudding was fantastic - best part of the night. If this was one of the only choices in the area, I'd go again. Too many other choices in NY so will probably go elsewhere next time.

Even better than anticipated

By Amru E. |

Please know, I am not one to easily lend oneself to hyperbole. That said, the experience that my gf and I had at Giorgio's was truly one of the best we've ever had in a restaurant. Just for a little backstory, we had just flown into NYC that morning, had spent the entire day on our feet between walking and shopping, and it was miserably cold and windy that entire day. That said, by the time dinner rolled around, we were looking and feeling pretty ragged. Unable to decide where to eat in such a condition, I had known Giorgio's was near where we were staying, and so, Giorgio's it was. No sooner did we set foot inside, and we immediately became self-conscious. It's a classy place, everyone dressed sharply, not to mention it was the Friday before Valentine's Day and the place was packed. In other words, we would have understood if we were hurried through our meal and out the door. That said, the staff there was incredible. Everyone was genuinely kind, gracious and welcoming. Our server, James: well, James was simply the best. Truly. He was kind, patient, funny, explained everything thoroughly and made excellent recommendations... he absolutely made our experience an exceptional one. And the food, well it goes without saying that the food was to die for. Everything we sampled was terrific. I opted for the Chilean sea bass, which is not on the menu, but truly should be. And we don't typically opt for dessert, but this was one time where we were glad we had. The cheesecake was sublime, be sure to try it! By the time we left, our evening was completely and utterly turned around. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough. Go if you're in the area, I can't imagine you'd regret it.

One star...and ..it's enough!

By josecnyc |

Why one star?..Here's the reason. Yesterday afternoon we were looking for a place to eat, we stopped at several restaurants before getting to this place, but the menus were not attractive, we saw this place and we'd like to try it. First, we asked for the menu and we were completely ignored ( only two waiters outside and the place was kind of empty), tried to get their attention but again, we were ignored, so, we saw the QR on the table and we scanned, but I realized that the QR menu was incomplete, it only had the appetizer menu, I tried to get the attention of one of the waiters but this one only limited himself saying " Yes Sir" "That's Sir", I tried to explain to him that the QR menu was incomplete, but it seemed that I was talking to a broken robot, the keep repeating the " Yes Sir - That's right Sir".these was his only response, I noticed the menu framed on the wall and I told him " Never mind", he grabbed one of the hard menus and, I told him that it's too late, I tried to give him a feed back and I said, if you wanna take it fine if not it's fine too..It seemed that what I said might upset him because he gave me that fake-diva-after fillers look, flipped his lid and ...walked away...I was mute..but then I just laughed..!!..This guy might be going through personal issues and he's venting them in his job place, his attitude was not genuine, it was fake..didn't feel welcome at all, this might be one of the top Zagat's Restaurants, but the customer service it's a big disappointment, if this is the way that they treat people trying to eat in their restaurant can you imagine if you eat here and have a suggestion / feedback or complaint..??..

Intimate Italian on Gramercy

By Mary Beth M |

We went here for a family birthday dinner and it was quite lovely. The service was attentive, the food delicious and it was a wonderful place for a special meal. Intimate setting and also good for a small group. We shared some appetizers - tuna, salad, and the table had a mix of pasta, duck, veal - everything was very good. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Fantastic experience and delicious food...........

By GDSPB |

Nice hideaway location where we placed ourselves in the hands of our waiter James. He gave us his time and suggestions and how truly pleased with his recommendations. Major compliments to the chef and kitchen for the creativity and delicious dishes we enjoyed but again thanks to James for a wonderful non-rushed evening.

Great restaurant and great waiter

By mattalex1988 |

First night in Manhattan and on the spur of the moment booked this restaurant which was close to our hotel - Hotel Giraffe. Food was very good. I had pasta and my wife the tuna. We were served by Bradley who could not have been more helpful. Price was reasonable and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Great dining experience

By Steve M |

Booked in here with friends last evening. We started out with fritto misto and tuna tartar - top drawer. I then had beautifully cooked scallops with cauliflower purée and a side of roasted brussel sprouts followed by a very tasty dessert (espresso peach tres leches). Add in a sublime jazz soundtrack in the background and you have a sublime evening! Recommended.

An excellent choice!

By rdvmusic |

My wife, adult son, and I enjoyed dinner here on a recent Saturday night. I’m a little hard of hearing, so I was concerned about dining here after reading some of the noise comments from other reviewers. Our solution was a 6:30 reservation and a table near a wall. The staff accommodated our seating request and I had no problem with hearing until the house was completely full near the end of our meal. What a fine meal it was! I started with the Mussels du Jour. For me, the test for mussels is all about the sauce - and these passed the test! My wife and son ordered the sea scallops, while I went for the seafood Linguini. Both entrees were excellent. The serving sizes are not huge. However, we think that is a good thing! We prefer enjoying our meal without overstuffing ourselves, and besides, we have no desire to take back a box of leftovers to our hotel room when we are visiting the city. It also leaves room for their fabulous S’more Bread Pudding desert and I’m betting that it helps keep prices reasonable, too. Worth mentioning is their excellent and fairly priced wine list. The wine list, although not overwhelming in number of bottles, has appropriate choices for any menu offering, and is good enough to get this restaurant listed in Wine Spectator magazine. We also appreciated the work of our attentive server, Christine, who allowed us to linger awhile after desert to finish our bottle of wine.

Gem of a place

By Arkády B |

Flew over to New York, booked this restaurant some weeks in advance. Wonderful greeting followed by a very informative waiter who went through the specials in great detail. Food was succulent and very well cooked, my wife who is very critical even managed to enjoy herself. Happy wife, happy life !. Ambiance was buzzing with a very eclectic mix of true New Yorkers. A real gem of a place, wish I was a little closer, but next time Im in the neighbourhood I will be back.

Impeccable service and unique inspired dishes

By Jim K |

I went with my girlfriend for a weekday dinner. We both work in food service (her a server, me a bar-back) for a high-end steakhouse, and this place blew us away with its level of service. Our server's name was James, who knew his craft very well. He enjoyed talking to my girlfriend about wine and me about food (topics of interest for each of us). The food was delicious and every dish was perfect. There really isn't enough praise that I can give for this restaurant for giving us as about a perfect a meal as one could want.

Amazing dinner!

By Mickeym0use |

We had such a delicious dinner here. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. The scallop dinner was probably the best scallop dinner that I have ever had! Really yummy and a big portion. The gelato desert was wonderful! This is a lovely special occasion place and I would definitely recommend it!

This place has been here over 20 years so we finally decided to stop in and boy were we happy. Sat at the bar had beers and some appetizers, then we saw an order of the baked oysters and ordered one, it was excellent!

Excellent Service and Food

Waiter was very friendly and attentive but not over bearing. Food was served quick and was delicious. My wife had pasta which was delicious and perfect portion. I had the NY strip which was cooked a perfect medium rare and was very tasty, and the lemon fries were unique delicious and abundant. Tiramisu for dinner was the best my wife had ever had. Great Saturday night dinner experience.
