One of the most forgettable meals I've had in years. There are so many other quality restaurants in this neighborhood. I'm frankly surprised they stay in business. Service was good and the wine list was decent but the food was essentially tasteless. Wanted to like as it is in my neighborhood.

My wife and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner at Gnocco. Gian Luca was a huge help in preparing this event and was incredibly accommodating. We had about fifty people but everyone had a choice of nine entrees plus appetizer pizzas, desserts, antipasto, beer, wine, and prosecco. Everyone was able to fit in their beautiful outdoor garden area which was really nice. Even though it rained the sliding roof kept everyone dry. Gian let us design our own menus and even play our own iPod set list on their speaker system. He and his staff even helped to put together the menus (we designed them as labels to stick on wine bottles with a flower in the top). The service was excellent. All of the waiters were on top of their game. The food arrived hot and often. Even though my wife and I didn't really have a chance to sit Gian made sure that the kitchen sent up whatever we had missed when we had a spare moment. The food was also truly great. In particular the guests raved about the pastas as well as the eggplant and truffle pizzas. A truly wonderful experience and, for New York, a very affordable and laid back place to host a large gathering. We will definitely be back.

We had a very disappointing and irritating dinner at Gnocco. We ordered a burrata appetizer and misunderstood what the server said was included. When we asked him to clarify he snapped at us and walked away. That set the tone unfortunately. The gorgonzola pasta had almost no sauce on it and the pork with balsamic sauce looked totally unappetizing: gray and tasteless. When we mentioned that we had not been happy with the food, we again got a snarky and unacceptable response from the server. I would never return to this establishment. May have been a one-off experience but very unpleasant in any case.

It's a very nice restaurant, with nice food. There is a garden at the back, nice when it is warm. But they serve us the starters and the main course at the same time and we had nothing to say, like if it was normal! They made a mistake and didn't apologise. For a restaurant at that price it was unbelievable! But the food was very good.....

I LOVE food at Gnocco. I always recommend it to my friends. I am an Italian native and I am so happy to find delicacies that are even better than what I find in many places in Italy. Their pizza is the best in town.

If u r a vegetarian be ready 4 a mouthful of meat! The āvegetarianā menu isnāt vegetarian & u r responsible 4 deciphering!

As an italian I ' m pretty sure I can judge a pizza and the one that I ate at Gnocco was by far one of the best I've ever had. And I'm not only talking about Nyc... A thin and crispy dough, leavened for at least 24 hrs, seasoned with zucchini flowers, mozzarella di bufala or black tartufo, is served in a secluded and charming garden in one of my fave spots in LES.

This was my third visit and highly recommended it to my guest. We ordered the beef carpaccio and goat cheese salad as appetizers. Both were delightful. In ordering our pasta we explained that we did not want a red sauce and he recommended the gnocchi . We both did not like it at all. We explained that it was very bland and did not have much taste. He had a server put cheese and pepper on it and it still didn't work for us. Instead of saying can I get you something else or saying I will take it off the bill he just failed "customer service" he did bring us two glasses of lemoncello. That didn't do it. I don't know if this is the restaurant policy to not replace or excuse, but it made me wonder if I want to return. And that would be a shame.

It looked promising, especially after the pizzas we ordered as appetizers. We were a large party and we sat in the patio, which is a very nice area. Service was good and friendly. However, how can an Italian owned place make a mediocre plate of fettuccine al pomodoro? How difficult it is to have pasta that is not drowning is tomato sauce? It's supposed to be pasta al pomodoro not a soup of tomato with pasta in it. A few of my colleagues ordered the Branzino, which didn't look particularly special. It's a place for a good time, if you are not that picky about food. The owners are very nice and we got shots of tequilas on the house.

We came with a baby girl and was served very pleasantly at dinner before it was crowded. First time here and will return for more. Great food and not expensive. We ordered many items including pasta with black truffle. Enjoyed everything and ate the whole huge calzone for dessert. Nice place. Friendly owner and services!

Haven't been to Gnocco for ages, but the only reason is that it's at the opposite end of Manhattan island. We were down in the East Village this weekend to take our grandson to a show and made an Open Table reservation for dinner at Gnocco. Despite the fact that we were early, we were immediately seated in what used to be the garden room -- now fully enclosed and climate controlled. Unfortunately, one end of the room was set for a large party, so our four top was crammed into a space in front of a bussing station, definitely not an ideal location. Still, the food lived up to my recollection and the whole group was pleased. We started with octopus carpaccio which was served with julienned celery and dressed in a light and tangy lemon vinaigrette. The octopus was paper thin and absolutely the most tender and delicious I've ever had. My husband ordered the gnocco appetizer which was tiny pastry puffs accompanied by a plate of mixed meats. Didn't quite match the description on the menu, or perhaps we didn't realize they were "make it yourself," but they were flavorful. My entree was the pasta with gorgonzola walnut sauce which has always been my favorite. Our grandson had a margherita pizza which, from the way he inhaled it, must have been delicious. (I would have liked a taste, but missed my chance!) My husband had pasta, but I never got to taste that, either, so I don't recall what the sauce was. As full as we were, we opted to skip dessert, but with four glasses of wine and two sodas for the grandson, the bill came to $150 with tip. I must say that, even after the large group was seated, the room was not overpowered by their conversation and good time, which is a good sign of the acoustics.

Attentive and genuine service especially for a casual restaurant. Food is average for a true Italian establishment. Pasta is home made. A plus. Burrata is average and US made. Bread is below par. Stale. Soup well made. Meat way below par.

After listening to some live music, we ended up at Gnocco for a late dinner. Ordered two pizzas, marinara and mushroom and rice balls. The service was great and the prices reasonable. I would recommend this place.

āPlease donāt talk to meā said the pizza guy as I walked into Gnocco. I thought that he might redeem himself with the pizza he made. Instead, the pizza was soggy and lacked taste. For example, the eggplant on the pizza was not seasoned nor fully cooked. Avoid the cocktails. I did order a cocktail ātunnel visionā, but had to send it back since it was cheap bourbon served neat - not a cocktail. The other cocktail I ordered off the menu was not available. Tables are unacceptably close together. There is no room to move once seated as they pack the tables into a space that would make the fire department nervous. One star for the nice waiter and water woman. In short, come here to chat with one of the waiters and drink water. I wish I would have done the same.

On March 22, 2014, my friends and I enjoyed the Gnocco food from the specials menu: butternut squash pasta, salmon special, and bass special baked in a white parachment paper - all these dishes were excellent. Our waiter was attentive and answered all our questions professionally and he paid enough attention to our wine glasses because as soon as our glasses were almost empty, he was there carefully pouring more - I like this kind of attention.

This was recommended by a friend who lived in the village for 3 years. I'm glad he passed it on. It looks from the outside like one of those typically quaint NYC replaces that only the folks in the area know about. We ate there this past Friday evening. If you can, sit outside. It's heated/air conditioned so you won't have any issues with climate. It's also more intimate feeling than inside, although the inside does have a nice patina to it which makes it seem like a comfortable neighborhood place. The service was very attentive and great with recommendations. I decided to break my low carb diet. To start- the vinetello tonnato and the gnocchi with tomato sauce. Both were excellent and well worth the cheat. My partner had a salad (very good) and a chicken breast stuffed with spinach (a new menu item I hope they keep). He thought they were definitely worth trying if you go. For where we were staying, it was a bit out of the way, but exactly the low key, comfortable place we were looking for. Thanks Gnocci for a great dinner!

My family and I loved this place. It's somewhat unassuming from the front, but in the back is a courtyard that is very romantic and a perfect outside/inside combination. The food was excellent and I'll definitely be back. I was with family, but if you want to impress a date this is the spot!

Upon arriving, we were greeted warmly and requested to sit at a table near the front of the restaurant close to the pizza chef. Everything on the menu looked amazing, and the chef helped us narrow our choices down to a cheese pizza for the kids and prosciutto, arugula, and parmesan for us. They were both DELICIOUS! The freshest ingredients and the smoky flavor of brick oven baking combined to form a light, crispy, flavorful, delightful pizza. We finished both pizza's and to our delight, the pizza chef brought out another pizza and told us that the Pizza Margherita was his specialty. The flavor of the fresh and dried basil, fresh mozzarella, and plump tomatoes made it taste like a slice of heaven. My family and I have all had our fair share of pizza, but this establishment has perfected it. We felt like we were sitting in Nonna's kitchen back in Rome......that wonderful warm feeling of eating and drinking with family.

After a great dinner there March 17th, 2017, I made my reservation early in order to get the same table I got last year. The Owner, Gian Luna worked with me from the beginning, sending me updated menus plus offering options such as fixed prie and even buffet as I was returning with a larger group. And when it appeared there might have been a last minute problem with my reservation (No fault on their part), two members of their staff wound up assisting me. Our dinner went off at the promised time and at the same table. We were all very happy with the experience! This is an establishment that will go out of its way to help you on all levels. Their Staff is outstanding and the one or two who remembered me from an earlier visit that day made sure to say hello when I came back that evening. The wait staff, as usual, was friendly, took the time to go over our options and make suggestions on both food and wine. And if I havenāt said much about the food ā it was great and thatās all I need to say. That and that we most likely wonāt wait until next St. Patrickās Day to make our third trip back!

My husband and I were going to the theater in NYC and wanted a restaurant in the vicinity (East Village.) I search online and found Gnocco on East 10th street, made a reservation online and off we went. I was not disappointed! The parking was easy on E. 10th, we found a spot right away (5pm.) We really liked this place. The decor was cute, with an adorable outside garden area. The staff was friendly, from the sweet hostess to our waiter who was practicing a variety of languages and trying them out on us . . . I loved it. Even the bus-boy was personable & always had a smile on his face, Upon being seated we were presented with a complimentary glass of champagne, which was a GREAT customer service move and made us quite happy. Onto the food. I did expect more from the bread basket, I must say. The bread looked home made with a beautiful crust, but it didn't taste fresh. We each ordered a glass of Nero D'Avola Italian wine which was smooooth and delicious! Four our appetizer we chose a cheese and pear platter which was good. My husband ordered a bowl of homemade "spicy wheat fuscilli" which was perfectly cooked (al dente!) and sooo delicious. We both chose a pesci entree. I had the Branzino (sp?) and my husband had the scallops and prawns. We tasted each others and I liked his better even though the shrimp was a bit overcooked. I truly believe that the specialty of this restaurant is the pizza and the home made pasta - you'll be very happy with either of these, or both if you're not dieting ahaha! The gelato was refreshing and the coffee was delicious. In one word: Recommended!!! :)

A great neighborhood restaurant with true Italian friendly service. Try the wood-oven pizzas, or go for the steamed oven-baked fish dish followed by a nutella calzone for dessert! Healthy food or guilty pleasures, Gnocco always delivers. The location is ideal, nestled in the heart of the East Village right across legendary Thompkins Square Park. The Ambience is super nice, wooden tables inside and a lovely garden in the back heated in the winter time. Warm experience for dining with friends and family or with that special someone.

Itās not easy selecting a restaurant for a group of 8 friends, but at Gnocco, we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner from start to finish. We dined early on a Sunday and thought of the outdoor seating as our own private garden. The waitress was attentive and very patient with our large group, suggesting wines and meals. We were there for a long time and never felt rushed. Warm bread arrived with our bottles of wine. (My dinner choices will be in parenthesis). Salads are not included with dinner so we ordered a variety of appetizers and salads (Caprese di Bufala Campana $13.95) ā all delicious. Even with our most critical guest, everyone enjoyed our main courses (Fusilli Piccanti $13.95) Quite a few desserts were ordered (Torta di Ricotta $9.00) along with coffees and cappuccinos. At the end of the meal, everyone thanked me for making a wonderful choice.

Every time we eat here we have a great experience. It saddens me to see it on groupon as this east village restaurant should not need any help attracting hungry foodies. One can have a fab salad and pizza, or if you are hungry as we usual are upon arrival, supplement that with their signature app, dried meats with fried dough and try one of their special entrees, although most of the regular menu rocks. Their only down side is not having a complete bar.

I live uptown on the West Side so going to Gnocco, located in the East Village, is a worthwhile effort. I took my friend to dinner last night and as always it was delicious. Being Italian, I'm picky about my Italian food. There's Italian and there's Italian-American. Gnocco is definitely Italian. We shared the Insalata di Tonno e Fagioli con Cipolla Rossa e Balsamico (very good!) We ate pasta for our main dish and it was phenomenal, the winner was the Maccheroni al Torchio Integrali con Prosciutto di Parma e Rucola (a mouthgasm!) The cream sauce was just the right amount for the perfectly cooked al dente pasta with flavourful prosciutto, topped rocket salad. The Tagliatelle con Ragu e Piselli was delicious although I would've preferred just a bit less sauce and a bit less salt. The Colosio Nero D'Avola 2013 was superb and tied everything together beautifully. I reccommend Gnocco, buon appetito :)

For sure best Pizza in town. All ingredients they use are amazing. Dark place always busy with nice staff all around. Must try

The food here is very good, this was our second visit, the first being about ten years ago. The pasta dishes are all house made and are the best items to order. The other dishes are good too. Service is friendly. Wine list has some fairly priced wines.

Love this east village gem! We have gone to eat here so many times as a couple but now that we have kids we weren't sure it would work - BUT as usual staff was welcoming food was delicious and the kids were very comfortable! I would recommend this spot for any large family dinners or just a quiet romantic dinner ! It's just all around a fabulous spot !

Recently enjoyed a mid week lunch with a good friend . We seek out places we have not tried before in hopes of finding hidden gems that provide both good food and a nice selection of wines by the glass . We were both very pleased with this hidden gem of a Italian restaurant . The wine by the glass list was fairly large with an interesting assortment of reds and whites ranging from 10 to 14 dollars per glass .We enjoyed 1 white, 2 reds and a dessert wine all quite good . On the food side the appetizers were excellent and imaginative . The octopus was especially good . For a main we shared a pasta dish that was also quite good . After dinner we enjoyed some cheeses . In all very impressed with the service food atmosphere and price

We tried Gnocco years ago when we first moved to the neighborhood and weren't all that impressed, but a recent visit confirmed that they have seriously upped their game. The food was all fantastic - a burrata appetizer was perfect, my spaghetti chitarra was stellar, and the affogato with homemade ice cream the perfect ending. The prices aren't cheap, but they are on par with the neighborhood and well worth it.

Went with a large group of friends and we had a blast! Great service, great food, really enjoyed ourselves! And they didn't even kick us out even though we stayed way past closing! thank you for that!

Have eaten here twice in the last 2 months. Orecchiette pasta with sauasage and tiramisu for dessert were both excellent. I really like the ambiance here, and the service is superb. Dining here can be part of a fun night in the East Village. Right across from Tompkins Square Park.

Three of us dined here on a Saturday night. The place is small and the tables are crammed in pretty tightly. The food was hit or miss. The antipasto italiano was delicious; however the arancini was oily & tasted like it came right out of the freezer. The eggplant parmesan & gnocchetti w mozzarella were also delicious, but the entrees were served at different times. I'm pretty sure our waiter actually forgot about the gnocchetti. Service was painfully slow. Overall, we found the experience disappointing. With so many options, this restaurant would not be a destination.

I went here in a party of 4. It was a beautiful spring evening, and we sat in the garden in the back. We started with a mixed antipasto, that we shared. It was just as it should be; olives, a few kinds of sausages, some anchovies and sun-dried tomatoes. Not a thing wrong with it. We also ordered a red wine that was very flavorful. One person enjoyed a filet mignon that was cooked perfectly, and I had a salad that was nice and fresh, and included some good Italian tuna, and some nice chives. We opted to have dessert elsewhere, just cuz it's a lot cheaper a few blocks away, but Gnocco was a fine place. Not extraordinary, but if you want Italian food, there's nothing wrong with it.

The service was excellent. The food was not more than ok. We didn't try any pizza though (looks good) but we did try some starters, warm goat cheese salad, arancini, and gnocchi gorgonzola. It was all boring.

If you are not en rush is a good place the food is okay but the service is very slow. Very!! Pizza is nice La pasta is good too. Salads are nice I had the goats cheese one. Good one! Lunch or dinner here can take three hours and lot of waiting between fist and second corse. All Italian food

Nice part of town and a cute little restaurant. Great pizza, different from other pizza in New York it was light and tasted fresh and great ingredients, doesn't leave you feeling bloated or anything like that!

This is where we go as a family when we dont want to cook. It is comfortable, honest, carefully prepared, homestyle Italian food. It really is that simple and that good.

A week ago we had a small birthday celebration in the patio of Gnocco and it was great. The food, service and ambiance all came together for a wonderful evening. Being a tourist it was special and even more so, we were in the company of native Manhattanites who were equally impressed. Chef Federico chose the menu for us by request, and he out did himself. The wines were very complimentary and a good time was had by our party of 8. It was all very reasonable and an good value. After a week of dining out in the city, we would give Gnocco high marks for the lovely time it provided and we will return.

Comfort food personified on a very cold early "spring" evening. The signature dish gnocco - the fried dough parcels with the cured meats is worth trying, but warning - quite filling (especially if you have had some of the italian bread as well). Paul's slow cooked roast pork dish melted in your mouth and my pasta was delicious (the tagliatelle beef ragu with peas). Here however is where it fell down a little. The pasta was indeed al dente as it should be, but about 20% of my strands were stuck together in doubles and triple thicknesses. Our affogato dessert was delightful. Some of the best ice-cream (vanilla and cinnamon) with a double very good espresso. Service was friendly, unflappable and efficient throughout and the restaurant was busy. Prices are reasonable. The sangiovese went perfectly with the meal.

If you like thin crust, crispy Pizza with great, fresh ingredients - this is for you. Having eaten Pizza around New York, the East Coast and Europe - this beats them all. The italian pizza chef is the heart and soul of Gnocco. Don't miss out on the outdoor seating if you get the chance. Enjoy!

Gnocco is a hidden gem of an Italian restaurant located across from Tompkins Square Park, in the East Village of Manhattan. The restaurant has a diversified menu of tasty Italian food and an extensive booze and wine selection. During warm months, I love to dine in the rear of the restaurant in an outdoor setting -- quiet and intimate, with trees overhead. Great for romantic dinners. Often during mid afternoon, I enjoy sitting outside (on a small table), sipping a glass of freshly-squeeze beet juice. Gnocco offers a wide selection of freshly-squeeze juices and a wide selection of teas that are infused with herbals, etc. I am an ardent people watcher, and the outdoor sitting -- however small -- is terrific to watch young people walk by, many of whom are college student attending NYU, a major university in Greenwich Village. Of course, during winter months, this outdoor viewing does not function.

Gnocco serves an excellent array of Italian food, highlighted by their excellent assortment of pizzas. The outdoor (insulated in the winter) backyard provides for a great background for the tasty cheeses, salads, pizzas, and more! Strongly recommend.

Delicious food and nice place, with a beautiful view for the park. I have eaten pizza. If is possible to give 5 stars, but it wasn't change one ingredient for I was wanted.

6 of us went for Monday Night Pizza Club, and we couldn't have been happier, this is now on the top of our favorites in Manhattan. The pizza was great, and the service was perfect. One the way out when I didn't think I could eat another bite, we were offered a taste of the gnocchi special which was outstanding. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu.

after a long day of biking and museum hopping, we stopped at Gnocco. the 4 of us shared a margherita pizza and other side dishes. we were so delighted by the taste and the finesse of the pizza, we are still talking about it, a year later. we just came back from Napoli and still think the best Margherita is at Gnocco. (Sorry Napoli!)

Love this place so much that I convinced my family , who had never been here, that I wanted my milestone birthday dinner here. Everyone loved the food, service and ambiance. Everything was outstanding! Can't wait to come back.

I can't believe that I had to discover a place in my old neighborhood while returning on a visit - it was open when I lived there and I never knew about it. Easily the best pizza I ever had in New York - the tartufada - just superb! Great attention, friendly and efficient service. A complete winner.

Stopped by here without a reservation, and although they were busy with a couple of bigger groups we were welcomed in. Took a table in the garden area out back - really cool, rustic homely feel. Food was excellent. Tasty, uncomplicated (I say this as a compliment) well presented. Friendly service. Nice wine list of italian and other wines too - but it's mad to go past a classic chianti in a place like this (not sure if they had fava beans). Would hesitate to eat here again.

Excellent pizza. Comfortable, causal Italian dining off Tompkins Square in the East Village. We've been twice this month and had great meals both times. Dinner for two was about $80 each time. Attentive wait staff. My favorite has been the Amatriciana Pizza (mozzarella, tomato sauce, onion, pancetta, and red hot chili) for $20. The spaghetti carbonara was also excellent ($18). I had a nice Negroni ($15) and a glass of Valpolicella ($17). Wine by the glass is $15 to $20.

This is perfection in pizza! Thin well-cooked crust and really tasty toppings. I chose parmigiana which has eggplant, tomato and parmesan. The great thing that the eggplant is cooked before it goes on to the pizza - in other places this is often put on the pizza raw and is hard and uncooked. This was melt in the mouth delicious. Another member of the party really enjoyed pasta with pesto.

I had dinner with my friends here and it was amazing. The menu is so rich and refined. Iām Italian and the food is better here than in Italy, particularly pizza. We tried truffled pizza and it was the best I ever tried. The atmosphere is so cool and the staff is so kind. Iād love to eat here everyday.

The owners and staff at Gnocco are wonderfully attentive and helpful. The food & wines are very good and their pizza w/spec, truffle oil and mushrooms a divine taste treat. The food is fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. They are my favorite local restaurant and would highly recommend them. Chat with GianLucca, Pierre Luigi and Rosella the partners who are friendly and outgoing. We just hosted LESPIās 10th Anniversary Bash in their lovely garden and got rave reviews from all 54 who attended. They helped make our event an outrageous successš„!šš·š„

It's hard to find a special restaurant in New York that's consistently good. I know when I have someone in town I need to take them to Gnocco. Sitting in the back room in the summer or winter is perfection and you feel like you are in a secrete room outside of the city. They have a truffle pizza that will make you cry out of joy. Their wine list is extensive and descriptions are adorable. The staff is great and it's the best to come mid week, unless you have a reservation.

If you have never tried Gnocco Fritto before you need to try it at Gnocco. This is a specialty from a small area in Italy that even in Italy is hard to find. I have been 3 or 4 times already and everytime I left very happy to feel home. The prosciutto, coppa e salame served together are excellent. I would suggest to add to the plate some cetriolini and cippolline sott'aceto to make it 100% as my mom does. I will be back soon.

We shared the Insalata di Rughetta Emiliana: Arugula salad with crunchy pancetta and 12 yrs aged balsamic vinegar from Modena. It was fresh and delicious. I loved the pancetta :-) Our chianti wine was perfect with all our selections. The Gnocco : homemade deep fried dough with a selection of typical northern Italian cold cuts, along with the salad, was a wonderful starter. The Affumicata Pizza; smoked mozzarella, tomato sauce and italian sausages, was beautifully cooked. We topped our meal off with a delectable Torta Al Cioccolato E Caffe; chocolate mousse, coffee biscuit, almond, bavarian coffee. Overall a fantastic meal and very polite ingratiating service in a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We were told about Gnocco by a 70+ New York City lifer, Hilda, who we met as we walked through the Financial District. She said if you want some iconic italian that we need to go to the East Village, Gnocco! I wasnāt going to argue, if we canāt believe Hilda, who can we trust! Worth the walk from Little Italy! Do yourself a favour and order the Gnocchi al Pomodoro e Mozzarella di Bufala. Killer. Gnocco is off the beaten path but worth the beating!

For the 10th time, I visited this wonderful restaurant! As I have said, it is never a disappointment, The staff are friendly and attentive and obviously professionals at what they are doing. And the food? Oh my! This time I started with fresh figs stuffed with a ricotta topped with a little balsamic reduction over a bed of prosciutto! The goat cheese salad was wonderful, but the other salads are just as wonderful. We had the buffalo mozzarella pizza (for the 5th time) which is consistently out of the world yummy! All this under the skies in the candle lit back patio! A lovely dining experience. By all means treat yourself! Oh, by the way, they have seasonal offerings...I highly recommend the pumpkin soup in the Fall!

Slip on down to the south east side of the city and visit Gnocco for the absolute best Italian food. Gian Luca and his crew are the best and the service is steller. Try to get a table outside under the stars.

My friends and I went here for dinner on New Year's Eve and while I was worried about ringing in the new year at a restaurant, we had a really great time! The food was delicious - I got a pizza - would highly recommend them! We also ordered a bunch of apps, champagne and wine. Our bill was around $500 for 10 people, which we thought was a great deal for all of the tasty food and drinks we had ordered. We were also seated in a somewhat private area, which was really nice for celebrating, but still being able to talk. I would recommend this restaurant for both a nice dinner date or a large dinner with friends/family!

We stumbled on this restaurant after having a reservation somewhere else and leaving before even ordering. Boy did that work out well for us!! We will be back for sure!!! The staff, the ambience, the food. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! 100/10 *

Awesome outdoor garden.

What a find! Solid Italian food in the East Village. Great appetizers, pizza and salads. I do have to say, the star of the evening was a steak with truffle sauce. Magnificent!

We had a meal here as we couldn't get into the Speakeasy bar next door. The food was ok nothing special. We were in there quite late and the staff weren't very polite as we sensed they just wanted us to leave, The bill was quite pricy even by NYC standards. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Love this place! Came with my brother who is a regular and so was treated like a queen, with amazing starters (fantastic rosemary pizza bread) and dessert (nutella calzone) on the house. Most delicious pizza ever - crispy thin base, lovely toppings, and all crafted by hand by the amazing chef.

Very rude management. My friends and I recently visited the restaurant for dinner and were offended by the way we were treated. We had a relatively good meal, but unfortunately there was some miscommunication and my friend didn't receive her entree until about 45 minutes after everyone else had finished eating. This was slightly annoying, but not a huge problem. We were told that the manager was "taking care of it." Only then were we surprised to be actually confronted by the manager, who defensively demanded answers from us. His tone was condescending, attempting to make us feel like we had no right to complain about anything. He Tried telling us that there was no way we could have waited that long because we had only been there for 1 hour and 20 minutes. We corrected him, saying that we had actually been there for 2.5 hours because our reservations were at 8 (it was around 10:30 at the time). Regardless, he continued to be rude and gave the impression that he was wasting his precious time doing what is essentially his "job." To top it off, they still charged us a 20% gratuity even though we only had 5 people. In the end, my friend and I had to sprint to the train station because it took so long to get our checks. Good food, but definitely not worth the headache.

Visited as part of a pizza tour The pizza was crisp and fresh with a proper tomato base and not a passata base which is the best way for me Small and intimate venue which I would probably have missed if it hasnāt been on the tour. Iād go here again for pizza as I thought it was really tasty

Stopped in for an early dinner with family sat in the garden area, great selection of wines the kids enjoyed a true European style pizza I ate the best calzone I have ever had and my wife seemed to be very pleased with the food quality. May look a little suspect from the street, give it a chance you'll like it....

Friendly staff, excellent setting (terrific garden in the back) and most importantly, very good food.

This unassuming restaurant will surprise & delight anyone who graces its doorstep enormously. If you are Italian, you will especially appreciate the attention to detail that Gian Luca, his family & staff bestow on its patrons. Each offering is superb being authentically & beautifully presented with care from the kitchen & staff. We had the pleasure to have our sons rehearsal dinner there on April 15th, and Gian Luca was very accommodating, helpful and his staff very attentive. This restaurant is a gem....... excellent food with wonderful, attentive service......we enjoyed a great party thanks to GNOCCO. Grazie tanto!!!

Start with the worst onion soup I have ever experienced at about $11.00 a bowl... are your chefs tasting the soup of the day?? Other than that the staff was professional and friendly, the atmosphere in the patio lovely, and the pizza was fabulous (except for a burnt crust which I understand some people like ... but I do not). Please do not let your high standards slip!

Gnocco has been putting out (very) Italian food on an atmospheric East Village block for a good long time and it has been excellent always. The pizza is among the best in town but the menu has a lot more than that. It has a charming tented outdoor area that we took over for a wedding dinner for 30 people recently--food,service, ambiance was top notch and the tab was reasonable.

Excellent maccheroni al torchio! My fav dish on this visit. The meatballs are ok. The pizza crust a bit limp and floppy. The tuna salad underdressed. The only other highlight are the cantucci. Nice casual place- I'd go back for more pastas.

We went here based on the great reviews from other travellers. We were very disappointed. We arrived for an early dinner, and it seemed like our waiter would much rather spend his time chatting (loudly) with his colleagues than give us a good experience. We enjoyed the gnocco starter, the pizza was okay but not great, and the tortellini was too cold and WAY overprized for a very small sized entre. We ended up paying quite a lot for a very plain experience. And when we left the restaurant, the waiter was too busy having fun with his colleagues to say goodbye to us, even though we tried to get eye contact.

We went here for my brother's 60th birthday. Had their signature dish - gnocco, a puff pastry served with a side of prosciutto. Tasty. They make a truffle pizza that is superb. Everybody was quite happy with their dishes and they prepared a lovely birthday dessert. Their pizza margharita could have used more garlic but that is a personal preference. I just asked for more fresh garlic and they promptly brought some for me.

Some great Sparkling wines

Food was fantastic, service even better, only downside is they only accept cash or american express.

Have been eating here for a very long time and although the food can sometimes be shaky the standards are delicious ! The burrata is amazing as well as the eggplant parm ! Do not recommend the pesto but there are a lot of other good options . It's close to home so easy for a quick meal !

From the moment we entered the door, the wait staff was attentive, service was quick, but never felt rushed. The food portions were large and quality was amazing. Highly recommend.

Excellent food , beautiful location right across the thompkings square park in the east village We have dinner with friends in the back area , patio and everything was fantastic I strongly recommend gnocco for authentic inexpensive italian food

We live in NY for 25 years and the food in Gnocco was the worse we ever had in our entire life. There is no way they have four stars - I would give them the negative if I could. My husband and I had lunch at this place today, our bill came down to $98. For this money we were served: "Antipasto Milo Italiano": terribly served on the old wooden cutting board, tiny pieces of bruschetta, cheese and few 1/6 of inch blue cheese balls. Not to mention "italian" bread that was definitely brought directly from the supermarket. It is a shame for Italian restaurant to serve such bread to their customers. Olive oil was also the cheapest and tasteless. I ordered "Multigrain pasta with white souse" that was highly recommended by the chef's wife as "one of her favorites. My husband ordered "Branzino al Cartoccio". We also ordered one glass of white and one glass of red wine to compliment our meals. Oh, where should I start... When my order arrived I immediately had the feeling that I should not be eating this crap. It was a small portion of supermarket pasta floating in some watery substance. Few green leaves and overcooked bacon finished the whole picture. It tasted awfully and was over salted. Disgusting! My husband is a big fish lover and would eat almost any kind of decently cooked fish. But he could not finish his portion because it tasted so terrible!!! Oh, and I forgot to mention that our wine was not even half of the glass and was also bad. Any real Italian chef with self respect (and respect to great Italian food) would commit a suicide if he serves such a terrible food to his customers, what a shame!!! Please stay away from this place!!! For $100+ that we paid for lunch you can find tons of really nice places in East Village.

Food was amazing and they were very accommodating of our two children. Solid wine list. Highly recommend.

I gave it 3 stars because the manager did the right thing at the end. Food is good, no complaints there. Service is good. But when the check came we noticed a surcharge for using a credit card. I was very confused and when I asked about it the manager stated it was house policy and it is written on the menu and the front door. Well, what is written can be misleading. On the menu it states, "In order to keep our prices competitive and give incentives to cash customers, all listed prices reflect 3.99%Cash Price Discount. We accept most Credit/Debit Cards at regular price without the 3.99% discount. Thank you for understanding our new pricing policy and your continued support for small businesses." After going back and forth about the wording on the policy, the manager did right by us and left pleased. Thank you. Next time, I will bring cash.

Me and my family often go to gnocco. We also order from them. Today we received our pizza order and when we opened the box, the pizza was shredded, all bunched up in one corner of the pizza box and it basically looked like someone had thrown the pizza on the floor. What was even more shocking was that when I called the restaurant to complain, I was very polite and they told me it was not their problem. They justified it by saying the delivery man was not their staff so it does not concern them. They said if I had a problem I should call the ordering app I used. They simply washed their hands off the matter. The customer service of the ordering app, was much nicer: they fully refunded my order and upon seeing the photo proof said it was unacceptable this restaurant treats their orders in this way. They said they will call the restaurant. Here below is the photo:

We want to this place on the recommendation of a friend. It has just the best Italian food you can find in NY, which is obviously saying a lot. Try the Gnocco starter, and their daily specials with seafood are fabulous.

When in the city, I make it a point to eat at this restaurant. You cannot get better Italian (Italy, not NY Italian) food and the service is spectacular. The owner, Gian Luca is usually always on hand in the evening and will be happy to make suggestions for selections based on your party size, dietary requirements and just how hungry you are. Servings are family size so order a few dishes to share. Be sure to make reservations as they book up early and ask for the outside dining area in the back.

Located in a popular neighborhood, this is a restaurante with a wide option in pasta, it name came by the way of one of the dishes. They do not have a wine menu for impress but good enough.

I went here with a group of friends and we shared a number of dishes. Everything we had was excellent and very reasonably priced. I recommend this place for the summer months when you can enjoy the beautiful outdoor garden area.

We enjoyed an early dinner after a long day of shopping in the city. We were greeted by a friendly host. Our server was quite pleasant and helpful. Our dinner was quite good. The antipasti tray was delicious. The pastas were very good. We sat at a table in the window. It was pretty, the streets as the snow came down. Would recommend.

Having a birthday dinner for my brother in law we were seated in the outdoor area, very nice and Italian inspired. Food was good. Service was okay but they mixed up our orders and when we sent out a dish we hadn't ordered they didn't ask what dish be ordered and never turned up with the missing one. When we asked for the missing the dish, we were told it would take a couple of minutes to get it but i took 15 minutes so we sent it back to the kitchen since everybody finished their main course already.

Great outdoor space! Good for sharing plates.

The pizza here is delicious! One of the best of my entire life and consider that I've been living in Italy for 33 years and tried many pizza restaurants from the North to the South. The staff was very polite and the place is amazing! We highly recommend this restaurant and we'll definitely be back and try all the other dishes made with real Italian ingredients!

We had a great dinner with no reservation. Enjoyed a gluten free pasta (spicy penne) and the salami piccante pizza paired with cab sauv. Started with a trio capresse. A nice dinner - friendly staff. Recommend.

the spot looks nice, good location, just doesn't have the food to quite match.

I've eaten here a number of times and the food is usually pretty good and probably deserves 4 stars. The fried dough they are named after is quite good. This time around I had a pizza. It was just ok. I had the amatriciana pizza.. A nod to the pasta of the same name. I asked prior to ordering if the onions were cooked and was told yes. They are fairly raw, just gets the few minutes of bake time that the pizza needs to cook.. And I couldn't pick them out as they are melted into the cheese. Waitstaff good, but seems to not have thorough knowledge of the dishes. Prices over mid range.

The food is great !! It is fine tasty and the atmosphere is nice. And finally it is not pricy. I'll use any occasion to get there. Try to get a table in the back garden it is super nice and in winter it is covered and heated.

Gorgeous Italian food. Relaxed dining and great service. What more could you want?! I went for a basic pizza which was delicious along with a beer then a glass of wine. All very good

Went there with a good friend, and I think we chose a really bad night. The beef carpaccio was rather thick and chewy, the chicken really dry (as if from the previous day). The guy who took our order was helpful and knew the menu so that he could help us, but then we were left with someone who probably started working there that evening. He had no clue whatsoever. For a bill of over 130 dollars, this was disappointing.

Went to this wonderful and appealing Italian restaurant with my family tonight. We were six people. None of us had ever been there before. Anna, our waitress, was lovely, professional, very friendly, and truly caring. We also had the pleasure of meeting Pierre Luigi, the welcoming, charismatic, and charming owner. The appetizers we had were all great. My boyfriend and I shared the octopus carpaccio with fennel, which was phenomenal. I eat octopus often but this was truly unique and well prepared. The fennel added a nice touch. Three of us had the steamed bronzino entree, which was truly outstanding. I have only had grilled bronzino prior, which, when prepared in a Greek restaurant is usually very good. This bronzino entree was truly delicious and different. It was moist and well seasoned. My boyfriend had the rolled chicken entree which was really great, creative, and not the usual chicken entree. My two other relatives had a pasta dish and a gnocci dish which they were very happy with. The wines and cappuccinos were also very good. I canāt wait to return to this truly excellent restaurant. The ambiance is casual, appealing, and cool with great energy. I highly recommend this restaurant!

I'm italian, and when I miss real pizza I know that I can always count on Gnocco. Prices are good. Food is awesome.

A nice place with very good italian food. Excellent service from all the staff. It is run by italians and you feel like eating in an original italian restaurant. I recommend the pizza.

Outstanding food. Good service. Prices are very reasonable. We went with a pair of apps and entrees. To start, we had the salmon carpaccio with fennel, cucumber and lemon vinaigrette and also the fried artichokes. The salmon was top notch quality, very delicate, and came with a tower of awesome fresh slaw on top. The artichokes were tasty, but a bit unevenly cooked. For our main dishes, we had the homemade whole wheat macaroni with braised parma prosciutto, arugula, and cream. My girl adored this, and even though I don't particularly enjoy whole wheat pasta, I have to say that it was really special. As for me, I got the young pork tenderloin served in an aged balsamic vinegar emulsion with flaked grana padano cheese. I liked the dish. The meat was was pounded absolutely flat (I was expecting a fillet) so the texture was a bit disappointing, but the flavor was amazing. A little bit of bittersweet from the vinegar and the sharpness of the cheese was a striking combination. I should point out though, that it would have been good if this dish came with a starchy side...with all that sauce, it really cried out for something, maybe a polenta. Two course for two came to about $70 and change including tip. This is really a great place to stop by for magnificent Italian food. Definitely recommended.

1st time in New York. Found this restaurant on our last night. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff and most of all amazing food!!!

You dont really have to have a reservation. Our group had several dishes and a pizza. For starters we had the Burrata, pruchetto, salami and fried dough. We had the Buffeletta Pizza, this was made with the burrata cheese (excellent), tagliatelle with beef ragu-nice hearty beef sauce. Price for food was great for amount of food. Service was great.

While they don't serve it the restaurant is located in an area of the city called Alphabet City. Many years ago this was some of the roughest parts of the city. Gnocco is located on 10st near Ave B. The area has undergone a revolution. Service was very good and we were a very large party of 13. Food was fine, while I have had better we had no specific complaints. A few things seemed a touch bland, but on the whole the meal was enjoyable.

Fresh ghocchi, fresh mozzerella, amazing bread, perfect pizza. Everything was so good. If you want good Italian food, this is the place to go....not Ninos on St.Marks...just saying

Cosy place, outstanding true, authentic italian food and wine on a nice and calm neighbourhood. Passionated business owner.

There was quite a large group of us that went to Gnocco for the first time last Saturday night. We arrived before the bulk of our party and were greeted like old friends and shown directly to our table (no waiting for everyone to arrive). The waiter served us promptly and the service was amazing (even though our waiter was also helping a very large party behind us). The menus were so easy as each person received an ipad menu that included a description as well as a photo. Two of the group are gluten free and there were plenty of options, including delicious pasta. Speaking of the pasta...they kindly customized a dish to be just what we wanted. Prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be back!

Went here after NYU graduation. My son, who spent a semester in Florence, praised the truffle pizza as reminiscent of Italy. The pasta dishes were very good, the rigatoni with broccoli rabe and sausage was delicious . Very good small plates of arancini, gnoccho with speck and salami , and caprese salad . Wonderful fresh fruit sorbetto and a Nutella cannoli which everyone shared . Friendly service but one entre was forgotten. Very nice courtyard setting.

Nice place to enjoy some really good Italian food in a relaxing atmosphere. You feel like there are definitely fun things going to happen here.

Very good quality of food, real Italian cuisine. Good service, good design. But problems with wifi. Good wine list

If you are looking for americano style pizza with the toppings that in Italy no-one would use on pizza ( such as feta cheese, chicken, bacon, broccoli, pineapple... ) I am not sure this will be your cup of tea. HOWEVER if you would like to experience the taste of Italian pizza ( from Italy) in EV this is the place to be. A friendly pizzaiolo Frederico skillfully makes the tin crust dough on the spot. I recommend to order individual style pizza for each person separately. There is a full menu with different Italian dishes (that I would like to taste someday) but I had tried only pizza so far. Pizza Tartufata was superb! I also loved focaccia bread with proiscuitto , arugula and cheese . Pleasant ambiance and authentic experience.

The best part about this restaurant was the service - they were very accommodating to the numerous allergies and requests our table had. They were a little inattentive because they were serving quite a few tables. Food was good overall - meatballs and caesar salad were particularly delicious. Frozen espresso martinis were great as well. Good vibe in back patio for fun big dinner with friends.

Well they say that everything comes from the top..well does it ever. From management, to bar staff, to waiting staff...this place is amazing. We decided to have our small intimate wedding reception here. From arrangements to organising the simplest things. The team at Gnocco were amazing and literally made our night. The food was amazing as too was the service. From a range of mains, pastas, great pizzas and even a option for vegetarian everyone was pleased and couldn't stop praising this place after the night. We also decided to visit this place one more time before we headed back to Australia and once again everythung was fantastic. Big thanks to everyone again

Our party of six had an early dinner, and had the chance to eat a variety of offerings. All were good, several were very good. The specials were creative and a bit different from what you would expect in an Italian restaurant. (Although we still had the requisite pizza offerings... which were also quite good.) Atmosphere is pleasant and casual; we sat in the open air courtyard in the back. Service was friendly and efficient, the waitress was knowledgeable. If you are planning to be in this part of Manhattan- or even for a visit only for this restaurant- you will be very satisfied.

We ate pizza (bufalina comes with original italian "mozzarella di bufala" and "capricciosa") and pasta with "ragù" (meat and tomato sauce) . Everything was well prepared with italian ingredients so the taste is perfect. In the menu there are the best italian recipes; there are also some gluten free options. The menu is available on a tablet with images, so if you do not know italian recipes you can easily understand the dishes by their images. Service is very polite and the location very nice

In all honesty, walking into this restaurant doesn't feel very welcoming. But take a sharp left past the kitchen and you'll feel transported into another place. We sat in the little garden in the back with the vine-covered ceilings and round, lighted, raffia balls. It felt like Italy. This restaurant specializes in the cuisine from Emilia Romagna and one of their specialities is the fried dough puffs (gnocco fritto). We were served these on a platter with prosciutto and olives. I could have eaten those all night long! Our main meal consisted of pasta with black truffles! Absolutely delicious! The food here is fabulous and the service is very good. Well worth a visit!

Gnocco was part of "experimental night" based on Yelp reviews. Once again my fellow Yelpers did not let me down. The restaurant has a rustic, warm feel and appearance. You enter on the pizza take-out side. However once seated and fed, you are transported to various regions of Italy. Our server was gracious and spot on with her recommendations. Appetizers- cheese platter, octopus with fennel and gnocco. All were outstanding. The gnocco was new to us and a "must try". Entrees- gnocchi with Buffalo mozzarella and the lamb. Again- excellent. Since the whole night was about being experimental, we ordered a bottle of Falanghina wine which went well with our meal. We were so stuffed and satisfied, that there was no room for dessert, only a well prepared cappuccino. There will definitely be a next time.

Host Service - Excellent! We ended up being somewhat difficult as he sat us indoors and then we asked to be sat in the garden area and then asked to be moved as the AC was right on us and we were cold. The host was very patient and didn't make us feel bad. Waitress Service - Terrible. It took someone forever to take our order. My husband had asked for oil and balsamic and we never got it. We ended up having to ask for it again and then finally got it by the time we were almost done with dinner. After the food arrived, it took so long for someone to come check on us that we were over ordering the condiments we needed. Ambiance - The restaurant is nice and they have put in a lot of time and effort to make the indoor garden look nice and feel like an outdoor set up. Food - My husband and sister-in-law got their pizzas and it was delicious. The sauce was well seasoned and the crust was perfectly cooked. I unfortunately got the pasta and it was very disappointing. The sauce tasted bland and the vegetables didn't even have any flavor to it. It was supposed to be spicy but the chilis were on top of the pasta and not cooked so even when I mixed them in, the texture was off. We also got the burrata and the arancini for appetizers and they were average. Price - Average, I don't think it was worth it though. Side note: I did enjoy that the menu is on an ipad and therefore you can see a picture of everything you are considering ordering.

The signature dish(gnocco)of fried dough and prosciutto was a bit disappointing. The dough was somewhat soggy not at all crispy. The rigatoni with sausage and broccoli rabe was average. We did enjoy our after-dinner Vin Santo with biscotti. All in all, except for the garden, there is nothing special about this restaurant. We won't be back.

I had my rehearsal dinner at Gnocco last month and can not say enough how happy I was it with. I had eaten here once or twice before and remembered the food was amazing and what a cute space it was so thought it would be perfect to have our rehearsal in the back garden area. We had about 55 people, which was perfect for the space. The manager, Gian Luca provided amazing service and was so patient with me even with last minute changes to the guest count. I wasn't 100% sure on the menu I wanted to go with so he gave me, my husband and his parents a full tasting a few weeks before. On the day of the place was set up beautifully and the wine glasses were never empty. I highly recommend this place for any party needs and will definitely continue to be a customer there! Thanks again!!

Top notch restaurant, with pizza on the other side to keep the nabe satisfied. Service was attentive, and food was delicious. A modest wine list with what appeared to be well-chosen selections, and it will get further exploration during future visits. If I lived closer, I would be there regularly.

The menu gave plenty of choices but was not overwhelming. Our server was exactly what you hope for when going to eat, knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. We had a table of 12 and every single person loved what they got - and our orders ranged from the specials to pizza. The wine list was great, with fair prices and some nice wines by the glass. I want to go back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating!

We have eaten at Gnocco several times and have never been disappointed. They have an excellent wine list, and the waiters are knowledgable about the wines if you have questions. The food is consistently excellent. On our most recent visit I had the special salmon with capers and spinach and artichokes - wow! My husband had another special, lasagna, and he raved about it, and others in our party had pasta dishes that they said were perfect. We've never been disappointed here and will continue to return. You really can't go wrong at Gnocco!

My wife and I were eager to try Gnocco in New York City, lured in by its numerous glowing reviews. However, our experience left us puzzled and underwhelmed, meriting a modest three-star rating. The cuisine, while palatable, fell short of the authentic Northern Italian cuisine it purported to emulate. Service was lacklustre, with some staff members more engrossed in their conversations than in attending to guests. Our serverās contrived Italian accent, more amusing than authentic, only added to the eveningās disappointments. The final letdown was the restaurantās policy of adding a 4% surcharge for card payments, a move that felt both petty and diminishing to the overall dining experience. Regrettably, this visit did not inspire a return.

While everything was solid, nothing was great. Gnocco gets a 23 in Zagat's-- my gf and I would subtract 2 and give it a 21. At the same price point in the East Village, I'd rather go to Frank, Supper, or Perbacco.

The service and food were both excellent. My friend and I shared eggplant parm and black truffle pasta both of which were excellent. We also tried 2 appetizers which were also excellent. We sat on the patio and it feels like you are in an authentic Italian experience. The inside part was not as nice and the bathroom is in desperate need of TLC.

Per recommendation I stuck with Pizza and desserts and I have to say, probably the best Pizza toppings in New York City... Delicious. Dessert was solid too... I do know a Pizza place with even a better crust but this does not take anything away from the Gnocco crust and we don't want to advertise that even better joint here no? Overall: Great Pizza, great atmosphere... Love it...

Read the reviews on here and since our apartment we'd hired was just around the Corner on 12th St we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. We were welcomed warmly and they apologised that they had no space in the garden but did we mind a table inside. We didnt and the ambience was warm and welcoming from the off. The pizza choice is great - we're vegetarian and its nice to see a lot of variety. I chose the Parmagania pizza with eggplant, mozerella and tomato sauce. The base was crispy snd almost buttery in flavour, the eggplant caramalised from the way it had been cooked and the qaulity of the mozarella was top. Overall every bite was amazing and I'm desparate to go back before we leave - i want to try the famoys. Trufato pizza (though id have to lose the bacon)! Choose Gnocco - you wont be disappointed!

We ate dinner here last night and it was amazing! I had the salad that had sun dried tomatoes and spinach and it was awesome. Then I also had the gnocchi with tomato sauce and mozzarella which was so yummy. For desert, my family and I split the Nutella calzone which was delicious! I would love to go back here!!

Gnocco is a small Italian restaurant in the Village. The service was attentive and stayed on top of our large party. They did get a few dishes mixed up and forgot one person but they recovered well. The cured meats and pizza appetizers were great. I had the chicken with saffron and it was delicious and the rest of our group enjoyed their entrees as well which ranged from the various pastas to the Branzino. I recommend this if you want to have a nice night in a small lesser known venue.

Great! Good place for a really special first date or a 20th date. Romantic outdoor seating / open air in the rear.

Risotto Alla Milanese, Pizza Tartufata. yummy...

I love their garden... and their gnocchi rocks, too!

The four of us had an early dinner on a Saturday, so it was not too crowded. Business started picking up as we left. Four people shared two generous sized salads and we had two excellent pizzas: truffle and spicy salami. Perfect crust.

Went there with my boyfriend to have a romantic evening, and this was the perfect place! They have the most romantic, cozy and italian inspired patio but the inside of the restaurant is also very nice. Even though all the guest are sitting closely together, the noise isn't bad, and the music is very well chosen to the mood they are trying to set. We had the fresh mozzarella, tomato and fresh baked bread as an appetizer, which was absolutely amazing! It melted in the mouth! As an entree, we got butternut squash pasta with melted butter and sage. This was a taste of heaven! When we ordered it, we became nervous about not having any meat (we are meat lovers) but in this entree, it dosent matter. As a dessert we got the homemade lemon sorbet, which also was fantastic! The prices aren't expensive at all. It is located in the most amazing neighborhood where you are surrounded by bars and all sorts of happy people, so it is ideally to go grab a drink afterwards. Our waiter, Joshua was so sweet, helpful and professional. He left us be, so that we didn't fell interrupted all the time, as we experienced in a lot of other restaurants in NY. The staff was generally very charming and was a big part of creating a cozy and light atmossphere. I will definitely go back again, and again, and again.

The best pizzaiolo in town has gave has a very conscious explanation about the pizza and it was a pleasure to eat it, thank you Federico we will be back soon...

Me and my family were staying in the East Village for our week stay in New York. As a treat for my parents paying for me, my brother and his girlfriend on this trip, I wanted to find somewhere really nice for our first night in the city. I found Gnocco online and and saw the good reviews, as well as the menu sounding really good. The restaurant is really nice and the staff were all very friendly. I had pre-ordered a couple of bottles of prosecco and these were promptly brought to our table. I chose the arancini for my starter (see photo). I've never tried this before so it was a risk, but it was sooooo good and the spicy tomato sauce on the side was delicious! I then picked the gnocci in a tomato sauce, the portion size was just right and it was really tasty. My brother & his girlfriend shared a burrata cheese special and my parents had the gnocco (a deep friend pizza dough) - both starters were really tasty. We enjoyed it so much that me, my mum & dad went again on our last night. Wouldn't definitely recommend this restaurant!
Italian food from the heart of Italy in New York
I love this place and every time I am in New York I take clients and friends here and they all love it and then go back on their own. The place is small but enchanting and the staff is attentive and engaging. Everything is delicious, even the pizza. Be adventurous and let them choose a few dishes for you.
