I had breakfast here a couple of times as well as dinner one evening as it was within close proximity to my hotel on E17/3rd Ave. Overall, I would say that it is worth a visit. The food is reasonably priced and this place has adequate waiting staff, so the service is good. Breakfast here is based around eggs, however, if like me, you are not too keen on eggs then just pick whatever you fancy as I asked for bacon, sausage and toast with coffee. I had that along with a sliced gratin typed potatoes, which were nice. The sausages especially as they were nice an thick....its just a shame that you couldn't get baked beans here. You also get a glass full of ice cubes with some water in, an your coffee cup is refilled by waiting staff. The only downside to this place in my eyes is that on every occasion I ate here the bill was placed on my table before I had even finished eating. I think this is rude as its like they want you to hurry up and go. I would prefer to ask for, an pay, the bill in my own time when I am ready and when I am fully satisfied that I have finished eating and drinking.

Ordered avocado toast with a bacon side order and received avocado spread on toast and 4 rashers of undercooked and cold bacon. Looked like it had been plated in a rush by an untrained staff member. There is took much competition in lower east side to be this amateur. Will not be back.

Had a breakfast, over-cooked, and sorry, but there are many better places in this area. Great for take out coffee

Great neighborhood diner Had an excellent burger with French fries (simple but can go wrong easily). Great service Also serves excellent breakfast

Fast service. Tasteless Corned beef on Garlic bread Homemade fried tortilla chips were good, chili was bland. Would not recommend unless you are on a very bland diet.

what about this as perfect service: came for breakfast 2 days ago and when we arrived this morning they remembered my coffee choice! apart from that, they have great breakfasts and are super fast too. #speechless #awesome #loveyouguys

I passed the Gramercy Cafe in a taxi and noticed it's attempt to be unnoticed. No neon signs or bright colors, this was a neighborhood diner. We visited for Sunday breakfast and upon entering saw most of the tables and booths filled locals, newspapers spread out over the enter table and having their coffee without looking up to notice who entered the restaurant. Breakfast featured everything from cold Kellogg's cereals to gourmet omelets and wraps. None of us complained. The omelets were larger than usual, the eggs fluffy and fresh and a selection of breakfast meats that was more varied than normal. For the bagel breakfaster, there was a fair selection besides the usual lox. I looked at the lunch and dinner menu which featured pasta specialities, seafood and a diet section. I would recommend this spot to anyone staying in the area around Union Square and Third Avenue as a neighborhood restaurant not to miss, for the food or atmosphere.

What was once the Gramercy Diner is now the beautiful, chic Gramercy Kitchen! The renovations are gorgeous!! Staff is so friendly and attentive. They make you feel like you can relax and they will feed you! Food is great, the portions are big and presentation is well done. Nice big coffee cups and white rectangular plates for food. And two flat screen tvs at the barista station if you want to sit at the modern marble and tiled counter by yourself. Highly recommend a visit here for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

This is a nice dinner . You can get a lot of diffrent food, but breakfast and brunch is best. The staff is freandly and service good.

Hungry and in need of coffee. Found this in our travels. The food was delish. Would definitely go there again

Great little stop for breakfast. Super efficient staff, huge plates, freshly cooked, good price. If you're staying in this neighborhood, make this your daily breakfast stop before you head out to the city.

It was over the corner from our hotel, and we went for breakfast every day. Fine, friendly and efficient, and as it's on a streetcorner, really good for people-watching.

The terrace is lovely specially on a sunny NY day but the food is medium and the service has a lot to say. For example i asked if they only had the three kinds of champagnes that the menu say and they said yes(actually only one was Champagne) ; i insisted if they could ask again and they insisted that that was the only thing they had. Having traveled enough and knowing how hotels work i ask the Food and Beveragemanager to be called!, obviously the DID have other champagnes and Good ones!! Food simple, menu limited but the atmosphere is SUPERB!! Probably a hreat place to have drinks at night

Was in NYC for a long end of September weekend and went the morning we were leaving and ordered a couple of omelets. They brought us two brown burnt piles of crap. My girlfriend didn't want to complain and ate about a quarter of hers and I sent mine back but declined having them make another because we were short on time and had to get to the airport. While my girlfriend was trying to gag a few bites down before we left the pig nosed manager sort of sidled over to check us and I caught him sneering at us around a corner like there was something wrong with us. When paying out I told him I didn't think I should have to pay for mine since I didn't eat any of it and he got pissed off and yelled at me and threw a fit and told us to get out. It was a lovely trip before that, won't ever go back there again.

we were two times in New York and we went always to eat to Gramercy Café!!!! The food is good and the sweets are deliciuos!!!! The staff is nice!!! We liked it a lot!!!

We arrived late (3pm) for lunch but were still able to order the lunch specials, which were $8.95 for a main, side and drink. We ordered the cheeseburger and meat loaf platters with fries. The food was very good and the portion size was large. The service was prompt and extremely pleasant. Recommended!

And it was amazing!! Staff very nice :) We stopped there to take a break in our sightseeing and get a bite to eat. It was quiet and the staff were very welcoming! I was surprised at the prices!!! They were very reasonable for the area.

The service was quick and well done, however it was not the friendliest ever. The food was pretty good, especially the challah french toast which was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Overall it is a handy cafe, which does good breakfasts. Also it is vry cheap.

my daughter & I needed a place to eat for Thanksgiving & this happened to be just down the street from our hotel...I had the turkey dinner (surprisingly good) & my daughter had ravioli. this is better than your typical diner and the staff were very attentive. if you don't need fancy and want a decent meal, I would recommend this cafe.

It was a block from our hotel so we went a couple of times. Dinner was eh I ordered a chicken salad platter and got a tuna platter instead but it all tasted fine and the host was really nice. The next day we went to breakfast and the food was fine but the waiter was a little rude. It almost felt like he was rushing us out.

For my last 6 trips to New York City, I've stayed near Union square. This cafe has been my breakfast place every morning. Great service. I follow the Slow Carb diet and these guys willingly give me a side of broccoli and spinach with my eggs in the morning. You can customise everything. The pancakes are great as is the service. Nice people.

After travelling all day this was the nearest place to my hotel. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. The burger I had was gorgeous and satisfied my hunger. The following morning I went there for breakfast and left there fortified for the day. There were plenty of staff, the service was good, clean premises and good reasonably priced food. Who needs more?

We come to New York at least once year and always stop here. It's just comfortable. This time the weather was nice so the solarium windows were open which made it even more pleasant. The staff is attentive and friendly, the wide variety of food is always delicious and plentiful, and the price is quite reasonable for New York. If you want to just relax and have a good meal, give it a try.

Second visit here and it’s as good as it gets. Food and service are outstanding. Excellent portions!

Great place for anything, but hard to get a table. Specials are good. Tradition is important here, except in the food choices.

Restaurant with ample tables - many of the other neighborhood spots are very cramped. Menu with a variety of diner options as well as some more interesting items. Had the spinach pie which came with a side greek salad. Side salad was larger than many sides and the serving of spinach pie was huge. Service was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. Prices for food and drink very reasonable.

We were lucky enough to be staying very close by and found this place straight away, we ate here every day because the food was excellent and so was the service. Service was fast and the staff were attentive and friendly. We had a very varied choice from the menu, there were no long waits or delays, both breakfast and evening meals were well cooked, tasty and satisfying. What more can you ask for.

Very reasonably priced, great food and great service too. We are staying at a hotel nearby and come here for breakfast or lunch every day. Lots of locals come in to eat and on Saturdays and Sundays it is absolutely packed! Would definitely recommend it.

We are so stoked we found the Gramercy, we were in NYC for six days and went here every night for tea and sometimes for breakfast. The food is super, very affordable and is like home cooking. Sandwiches are amazing as are the chicken fingers. The staff were brilliant and great to talk to, this place should be given awards for their yummy food, great pricing, awesome staff. Was nice and relaxing and a great place to chill out after a massive day seeing the sights. Smoothies are to die for!!

Really nice atmosphere at this dinner. We were there on a Sunday and there were maybe about 8 people waiting in line to get in We ordered cappuccinos and their ginger flavored pancakes Such a dream! Definitely going back for breakfast, from what we could see the food look fresh and tasty and the portions were generous Great strong coffee as well!

We went here twice during our long weekend in NYC as it was close by to our hotel. The first time we had brunch, I had the Italian Burger which came with "pizza fries" which I really enjoyed, one of the best burgers I've had in a while. The next day we went back for breakfast which was also quite good, and reasonably priced. Service was fast and efficient both times. Recommended!

We stopped here soon after we checked in to our hotel as we were hungry after traveling. We should have looked around a little more. The food was mediocre.

A little cramped, but food was good and exactly what we ordered. We had omelets and pancakes. Coffee was good.

Breakfast time with great pancakes Super nice staff, pleasant and very helfull Great pancakes , super american-sized Pitty they do not serve them with marple sirup but corn one Great place, very typical

We were looking for a nearby breakfast place, which turned out to be crowded, when my husband spotted the Gramercy Cafe across the street. We were so happy to find this cafe as it was lovely. The space was open and airy, with plenty of tables. The wait staff was efficient and friendly and the food was good. The menu has regular breakfast fare, eggs, waffles, etc, and the portions are large. We didn't feel rushed. We look forward to stopping by here on our next visit to NYC.

The Gramercy Cafe is very warm and inviting on a cold winters day and the food will warm your tummy too.

Great prices. Location is great too. Food is well-prepared basic diner food. They kept refilling my coffee, and the coffee there is wonderful. I like sitting on the atrium side. I can people watch!

awsome hash browns.. perfect sunnyside egges, savory cofeee all for under 10 bux in NYC. cant beat it great staff.

The steak salad was beautifully prepared and excellent flavor. Good service. We were there for lunch.

Good and affordable place to eat. It appeard clean and well staffed both time we ate there. We only had breakfast but it was nice

This cafe/diner is amazing. The staff is friendly AND efficient. The food is exactly what you are hoping for and often better. We were in NY for a weekend visit and we ate here three times. The gentleman at the parking garage told us to go here for the best milkshakes and he was right - so thick and and delicious. The next morning, we stopped in for breakfast and had fluffy pancakes, an Italian omelette, eggs over easy (cooked perfectly) and a hamburger. Even the coffee is an A+. For our final visit this morning, we had breakfast sandwiches and breakfast wraps with home fries. If you are anywhere near 17th and 3rd Ave, you have to try Gramercy Cafe. You will love every bite and every smile you receive.

I enjoyed coming to this restaurant several times for dinner during my vacation. I tried several different entrees. The stuffed cheese shells were not special, but I would have recommended all the other items I ordered. The dinner comes with a main entree, vegetable, small soup, and salad. The portions were very filling. I always wanted to order a desert, but each time I could not eat another bite. Good food at a decent price.

No fuss, just tasty food, nice staff and reasonable pricing! Best choice for a quiet breakfast in the area.

This replaced a diner type restaurant that had been here for years. This new establishment is more upscale in menu offerings, decor, and prices and the clientele is younger. It pretty much represents what's happening to this Gramercy Park neighborhood.

I had the motza ball soup and the grilled chicken and vegetable wrap . Both were served hot and both were very tasty.

You could tell by the crowd that this was a locals place. Their brunch menu was phenomenal. I had their fig and goat cheese sandwich with eggs. It was delicious!

The breakfast special is $4.75, for two eggs, toast, hand cut potatoes, and coffee ... how do you beat that? Many other choices too, at a significantly higher price. The food was good, portions fair, and service reasonable. Tidy.

The food here was very good. I ate here twice. I ordered an omelet that was delicious and it was too much too eat. The second time I ate there I ordered eggs and bacon and that was excellent, too. The service was just so-so.

Lovely corner caffee , not so helpful staff but the food was lovely , went there for brunch and dinner and breakfast, good value not overpriced for Manhattan prices, and it's open 24 hours witch is fantastic

Best value for money breakfast we had in New York. Stayed at hotel 17 and ate their twice. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, classic diner breakfasts, good quality.

Very good breakfast, we had a Western Omelette and a feta-spinach omelette and Belgian waffles, fries were very crunchy, nice staff

The Gramercy Cafe made me feel right at home. It seems to be a neighborhood place. The staff were very friendly and knew several of the customers by name. It is clean and bright. I had 2 eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes, and (constantly refilled) coffee for $7.65 - which was the best bargain of my trip to NYC!! I

A good street level restaurant with a solid breakfast menu. We liked their omelettes and both the fruit bowl and oatmeal made the cut. It was a pleasant day and the window/doors were open, so the "fresh" air was available without being on the sidewalk. We'd go again.

This is my first time at GK since the place opened. The space used to be a very dated diner with average food.GK has energized the space with a new modernized look and a healthier, tastier menu. I met a friend at GK for lunch. Both of us enjoyed our sandwiches and salads. The great friendly service complemented our food choices nicely. I'm definitely coming back to check out the dinner menu.

Great hours, delish food, excellent daily specials, fast serice. Can't complain. I can eat an early breakfast there, too. ;-)

Been there 4 times for breakfast. Always quickly served, got nice table by the window, even in very busy times. Nice menu, weekend brunch was awesome, the portions are huge. The highlight of our stay :). Guys working there were so friendly, fast and helpful, good job, this is how good service should look like!! Definately recommended. I would go back, also for lunch or dinner.

We love going to this diner for breakfast. The omelets are so good. The portions are large. We always stop every trip to NYC. Fast service. Reasonablty priced. They are open 24 hours but we usually only go for breakfast.

We found this place by chance on a very hot day. As soon as we sat down there was chilled water brought to the table. The waiters were polite and friendly but not in your face. We took a while to order and this was not a problem. I ordered the tuna dish and cannot fault it... absolute perfection. I wouldn't hesitate visiting here again if I am lucky enough to go to New York again

I spent last weekend at an NYU hackathon. My accommodation needs were simple and Hotel 17 fit them well. But sometimes, when you're keeping those kinds of hours, you need a hearty, bacon-and-eggs breakfast at one in the morning. Fortunately, Gramercy Cafe was half a block from the hotel. The food wasn't spectacular but, again, my needs were simple and this perfectly positioned diner fit them well.

I've been to nyc 4 times where have stayed at Hotel 17 and have eaten at this 24 hr cafe across the street from the hotel at least once or more during each visit. The prices are very fair, service is fast and the food is good. There is even 1 hour parking on the street next to it if you are looking for a quick meal and are in a car. There is lovely seating with windows next to the street if you would like to people watch. Once my husband and I were there when it snowed and those window seats were particularly lovely then with a hot cup of coffee in hand.

The 1st (out of 4) diner we tried during our 8-day stay in New York - it was the closest from our hotel - we breakfasted here on an early and rainy Saturday morning. It was still fairly empty at around 8:30 and, as we were still not familiar with American portion sizes, we decided to just take one portion and see how it goes; so we had the Lumberjack breakfast (or something like that), which included 2 eggs, some fried potatoes, a few strips of bacon and 3 pancakes with butter and CORN syrup, it wasn’t that big really but what made it filling was the pancakes, in fact after we ate the lot we felt full and we made the right choice to only choose one portion instead of two. We liked our food. The coffee was very nice and there were 3 or 4 servers (all-male staff including the manager) always going about from table to table giving refills whenever they were needed. We also asked and got some warm milk for our little daughter. Service wasn’t really the friendliest you could expect but it wasn’t rude or surly. Altogether it came to about $16.00 + we left a $3.00 tip. The check was handwritten and I don’t remember whether the taxes were written separately or incorporated in the total. We had an overall ok experience at Gramercy Café’, it’s a no-frills place and the name Café’ is appropriate as it is not a Diner per se. We would have come back, if it wasn’t because there are SO many eateries in NY that it would be a pity not to try some more of them, as we did in the end.

Went with my mom before a concert at Irving Plaza. Service was good and efficient. We both ordered chicken wraps with fries and they were delicious. The chicken was well seasoned, tender, and not overcooked. The fries were fresh and tasty. The best part was undeniably the fresh-made lemonade, with a perfect balance of sweet and sour. We wanted a meal for lunch but others around us had ordered breakfast and it looked like a good spread. The prices were reasonable and about what you would expect for a diner in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Not sure if this place ever actually closes!! Food is good and reasonable. Service was just fine for us, attentive waiters and polite managers. We only had bagels, which were superb, but we have had a 'full' breakfast their previously and it was just fine.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner, the menu was endless. Food was good, service was excellent, centrally located. Children, seniors, everyone can find something they like. I had the tuna salad and it was very tasty. Desserts were well prepared.

Stayed close to here. After reading good reviews thought we would give it a try.. ordered chicken and pepper sandwich my OH ordered a burger. The option to make each meal into a deluxe was chosen - this added lettuce tomato and fries to them. When they arrived they looked ok.. my partners burger was just that. A burger on a dry bun. Had he not upgraded to deluxe then that would have been his meal! Mine looked nice - grilled chicken and peppers on a flat bread roll. Neither meals tasted that exciting but they filled a hole. Nothing special. The cost with 2 beers was $45.. a little pricey I thought. Service was good and fast but did not live up to my expectations or the reviews on here.

Standard breakfast menu range for a NY diner and I was not too keen on the fried potatoes and peppers that came with the breakfasts but as it seems to be a ubiquitous item on NY breakfasts it's unfair to single out this place for serving it. Matter of taste aside, the food cooked was of good enough quality that I went there five times during a week long stay and the big screen was useful for watching those 9am Euro2016 matches.

We went there at 11:30 pm. The waiters were so kind, I was starving and saw them eating their personal Mexican soup and they shared with me till my burger arrived! So sweet! Great french fries and a nice moist burger.

At the end of the block from Hotel 17 this is a great place for any meal especially breakfast since it is close and fast.

This place is the most comfortable, well served and with great food that i've been in the city. Open 24/7 with nice waiters who speak spanish, the food is plenty of good flavors and the variety is enough to please any kind of client. The price is cheap considering the neighborhood and the quality. Totally recommended. Actually, I miss the food already.

If you are in Union Square area, you would probably be hard pressed to find a better breakfast option than Gramercy Cafe. Prompt service, fresh food and reasonable prices in a good sunny place while people watching New Yorkers hurrying to their work- what more could you demand of a corner breakfast cafe. Try it and we are sure you would like it.

I stopped to this place by chance on a Friday evening: it looked like a nice diner and there were available seats. I had a onion soup and greek antipasti. The quality of the food was ok by a diner's standard but I have many complaints about the service. I won't recommend it

There's diners and then there's the Gramercy Cafe at Third and 17th on NYC's lower East Side. Smooth, strong coffee in a limitless cup. Service swift enough to satisfy the hungriest of appetites, including a broad selection of Eggs Benedict interpreted, and delicious orange juice. I had the Parisian (eggs sunny side up and bathed in Swiss cheese and bacon) whilst my husband had the challah French toast. Superb. For just about $10 a person, you waddle away from the table with enough fuel to walk all day (including over the Brooklyn Bridge).

This little 24 hour cafe was just up the block from our hotel. It was nice, clean, & warm. The staff was extremely attentive & the food was wonderful, as was the coffee. We had breakfast there the first morning on arrival & went back on another morning just for coffee

The terrace is so beautiful. The sun, the decor, the great waitstaff. While we waited for our table (just a few minutes) we explored the art work and the different seating areas

The food was great and very family friendly. The service was exceptionally fast and of a very high standard

Good and fast service, very tasty breakfast. Coffee was great with sufficient refill intervals. Would go here again when I'm in NYC.

First, service bordered on rude which is tolerated if food is good but it was....not. Salad was iceberg lettuce and the pastrami sandwich was not worthy of NY city. Yes the coffee was endless but it was barely recognizable as coffee and we had to keep asking for silverware, or cream for the coffee or the sides which should have come with the sandwich. I would advise seeking an alternative which is not hard.

Courteous and prompt service despite the fact that very few of the staff can speak English. Food was good and what you would expect from a diner on NYC. If I was in the neighborhood I would go again.

Cold, dry scrambled eggs; cold, mushy "home fries" consisting of thinly sliced and mashed potato mixed with green pepper, onion powder, and paprika; cold but okay Belgian waffle; weak coffee that was admittedly hot and frequently refilled by pleasant waitstaff regularly circulating the diner ("cafe" is a stretch). I can't recommend The Gramercy Cafe for breakfast. Maybe they do better with burgers and sandwiches?

I rarely have bad experiences at diners but this one was off the charts. I stop in for take out, and ordered the California Veggie burger, which was a special. When I came back home and opened the package, it was nothing like the description. When I called to complain, I was told that I ordered the Veggie Burger Deluxe, not the special burger. For starters, I never said "Delux" when I placed my order. And, if there is more than one type of veggie burger on the menu, they should clarify. A staff member would be more aware of this than a customer. And, the roll and fries were soggy. What a disappointment. Surprised at the high ratings on Trip Adviser. Yelp has more accurate ratings.
Good late night fare
We stopped in here after a concert as it was the only place still open - they're open 24 hours. The food was good quality, including the veggie burger I had and the hamburger my husband had. The service was good and quick. I don't usually eat this type of food, but was surprised at the quality, service and price.
