A local favorite

By B W |

Upper East Side diner open since 1931. They were here when I went to college in 1966 and lived down the street on 77th and York. What a diner should be. Open 24 hours. Brunch lunch and dinner. Breakfast includes omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, fresh toast, waffles. Soups, quesadillas, sandwiches, paninis, salads. Pastas, steaks, seafood and chips. Evan old fashion milk shakes. Too many choices for sure. Very pleasant staff. You can't go wrong eating here for sure.

Very good breakfast place. Ues

By Allan S |

Long time place. With outstanding breakfast meals. Open 24 hours. And has been around many years. They have excellent corned beef hash done nicely with scrambled eggs and home fries. Long menu with many of the usual Items found like stews and burgers. Fair prices And very good service

Warning

By Courtney M |

Warning: Do not go (or order) to this diner! The manager was so disrespectful and inappropriate on the phone. He made a sexually inappropriate comment over the phone! Will never never never order from this place ever again. This is what is wrong with our society. People think that they can just be rude and say anything they want. This is not a made up review or a way to bring a bad name to this business. This is just the truth of what happened and I hope people who read this choose to go to another establishment.

Rude and disrespectful service

By D S |

Came with a friend. Ordered from the kid's menu and was told I was too old and could not have my choice (I'm 18 and was not very hungry). I ordered nothing then. The attitude of service and management was nonsensical.

Yum and cute!

By Lauren Cox Morales |

Ordered a lot of food in my one visit and it was all delicious! (except for the scrambled eggs with cheese... should have asked for a specific cheese because they used American cheese) The setting is quaint and has windows floor to ceiling and uncovered so that you can see the hustle and bustle of NYC :) The waiter and host were accommodating, cheerful, and helpful. We even had questions about getting to a certain place and the waiter helped us locate the subway and which to take.

Satisfies the appetite day and night

By fordhammom |

Onen 24 hours. We've eaten at all hours. Noticed that lots of regulars return so you know it has to be good. Sunday morning breakfast was packed but the wait was not long. The menu is extensive, the prices affordable and the portions large. The waiters at times appear to be a bit surly, but it's worth putting up with because their food tastes great!

Excellent for breakfast

By robcurtross |

I had breakfast at Green Kitchen Restaurant this morning. Service was fast, friendly and exactly what I ordered. Cleanliness including in the men's room, is very good. This is certainly one of the best diners on the Upper East Side. I tried at least 15, and find myself returning here regularly.

great food and a lot of it!

By Kate G |

We came here on a recent trip to New York from the UK. We had to wait a while but it was worth it. The food was plentiful and freshly cooked. I had the frittata with asparagus, broccoli and spinach. I was told it would be 20 minutes as they cook from fresh so might be a little longer to wait than my family's food. However it all came together. It was delicious. My husband and daughter had the hungry man breakfast which was pancakes, sausage, bacon and eggs. They said it was delicious. My son had a burger which was too much for him as it was enormous but he enjoyed what he had. The waitress was lovely. We didn't have room for desert.

Moving In

By Reggie W |

Who knew that my first official meal as a resident of the UES, NYC would be here. I longed for a local diner as there are none in the city of Boston. I moved in on a Wednesday and it just so happened that they had a special on the Pork Chop dinner meal to include to glasses of red wine. The meal was great. The atmosphere was great. The seating was quick and the service fantastic. I'd recommend this place time and again as a great diner! Love, love, loved it!!!

Delicious breakfast!

By GeorgiaLucy41 |

Enjoyed a wonderful breakfast here! Breakfast menu is huge, so something for everyone. Our group had French toast, chocolate chip waffles and corned beef has w/poached eggs. All were generous portions and delicious - only improvement would be more of a crust on the hash. Service was very good, even when they became very busy. Definitely worth a visit!!

Breakfast please!!

By Yorkiemom520 |

The Green Kitchen is an institution on the upper east side of Manhattan. I would recommend eating there especially for breakfast.? I usually get the western omelet special which includes juice, choice of bread and coffee or tea. I have had food delivered to my apartment for dinner food was adequate .

Tasty Good Portions

By grrprr |

With new personal dietary restrictions, we first stopped to inquire about how they prepare their chicken and turkey. I appreciated their honesty, they did not know details though offered to ask the chef in the morning. I felt satisfied with the response to come back a little later to eat. We sat curbside since the weather was great. Okay experience. 2nd avenue and sidewalk traffic wasn’t bad at 6:30pm. Service was quick. I got the garden delight salad with fresh turkey. A nice mix of greens and vegetables topped with a generous portion of turkey. Even without adding any dressing, the salad tasted great. As a visitor, my dining companion warned me about the “new” credit card rules. And the bill did reflect an add on charge, though it did seem higher than expected (over 3%).

Breakfast every time

By trainback |

Had a couple of breakfasts here. Good wholesome selection to choose from. The "special deal sheet" has some good options and saves a few dollars so check it out. There are other diners nearby, but this one was good enough to stop us trying out the competition.

Great brunch spot!

By nycchar |

My husband and I had brunch with friends at the Green Kitchen on a Sunday morning. The brunch was reasonably priced, around $21, and included a brunch drink, entrée, coffee, and fresh fruit or dessert. There were many choices on the brunch menu, including various frittatas. The food was delicious and the portions were large. The service was very friendly!

Not green

By Joseph C |

Visited this restaurant/diner for lunch and our group ordered a variety of items all of which were, at best, just ok. Calling itself Green one assumes the salads would be fresh and tasty; nope. The menu is incredibly long. Nothing, however, seems to be good. Perhaps breakfast is ok. Don't understand how this mediocre place can exist with the large space it has in this busy upper east side neighborhood.

Enjoyed the Eggs Benedict Florentine!

By Divine Voices M |

I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful the Eggs Benedict Florentine and the Grits were so creamy and smooth just the way I like it! I had never been there before and I was so glad it was good at the Green Kitchen Restaurant in Manhattan! And the service was very nice too! It is diner style so the price ranges from $2.40 for a Bagel to $25.00 + for entree. I would definitely go back again!

Great Food and Great People

By 5CanucksOntheBeach |

We stayed very close to The Green Kitchen during our recent stay. We had been told it was a great place to eat and we tried it for breakfast (before a day of sightseeing) and it got 5 out of 5 “happy customers” in our family of “real food foodies”! Everyone cleaned their plates of pancakes, waffles and sandwiches. Then our sightseeing didn’t go as planned - exhaustion and the sun overtook Mom. So we called it an early day and headed back home. We needed food and it was an obvious choice - back to Green Kitchen for lunch - especially for Mom. This time it was a chicken gyro sandwich with a huge “side”Greek salad. The food and a nap were the perfect medicine. Just now one of the kids came in before calling it a night and said “Can we go back to Green Kitchen tomorrow for breakfast?” Yes we can! Wonderful service and the loveliest people!

Amazingly fast and extremely good ...

By DanielBadran |

No nonsense food and service. After a couple of visits they literally knew my name. I still cannot get over the speed the order was served. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Green Kitchen during my stay on the UES, I was impressed with all 3 services. You cannot go wrong here ...

Extra charges for using a credit card

By Carolyn H |

We recently went to the Green Kitchen on Second Ave. near 70th St. for breakfast. While the food and service were really good, I didn't like the extra charges for using a credit card, one that I didn't know about. I knew from a prior visit that they added on a service charge of about 4% for using a credit card (which a lot of restaurants are doing), but they added on even more (about 1.5% ) for using a credit card, without telling me. I discovered it later when I looked up the total charge on the computer. That's excessive!

Cool Place

By Wayne640 |

Just like everything in NYC it’s expensive. Had yogurt and berries and my traveling partner had eggs Benedict. Nice folks, fast service, good for people watching as they stroll by

breakfast 24/7

By Bill D |

staying nearby made the Green Kitchen a great find for breakfast anytime and super deals on lunchtime sandwiches with good fries...service was good and food arrived promptly

Felt very safe!

By lesliek0127 |

Since we're both vaccinated, we decided to treat ourselves to our first meal out in over a year. We've always enjoyed Green Kitchen and decided it was where we wanted to go for lunch. They don't have outdoor tables, but inside was pretty empty so we decided to brave it. As we walked in the door, our temperatures were checked. At the table were paper (and I hope single-use) menus and a bottle of hand sanitizer, along with a COVID-tracing form that we were required to fill out. It all felt very safe and I indulged in their French toast, which never disappoints.

Good lunch

By David D |

Our sandwiches were good but they brought the wrong one to my friend. The didn’t take it off the bill. He didn’t make a fuss but it was a poor move on the restaurant ‘s part.

An old favorite keeps going...

By David M |

The Green Kitchen probably qualifies for landmark status. It's been around for YEARS. They still give large serving sizes, it is still priced moderately, their delivery is fast, and the place is clean. what more can on eask of a NYC diner?

Recommended for breakfast only

By robcurtross |

This diner is open 24/7 and a great place for breakfast anytime of day. I've had breakfast here three times -- omelettes, eggs, and pancakes primarily -- and the food was excellent. However, other reviewers and some of the regulars tell me the menu is vast and finding good food up to that same standard is very difficult. The staff is efficient and very friendly. Cleanliness is very good including in the men's room. "Green" in the name is a bit misleading; this is a standard diner and is neither vegetarian nor eco-friendly.

4% Extra to Pay with Credit Card

By Richard P |

Deceptive pricing - they add a 4% up charge to your bill for using a credit card. This is a cost of business that the owner needs to absorb, not the customer. We will not return.

Avoid this place

By PATRICIA A |

My vegetables were overcooked and probably canned. The eggs were not edible according to my companion. Everything was tasteless. I don't understand how they stay in business with so many restaurants nearby.

Green Kitchen a must experience on upper East Side. A real 24 hour diner!

By Michael G |

We are frequent diners at Green Kitchen for breakfast, brunch on weekends and lunch. I can’t see enough for the quality, consistency and excellent taste of every menu item we select. They especially have a breakfast special menu that ends at 11:00 AM. Many choices including various omelets, oatmeal almond pancakes with bananas and walnuts (our favorite) as well as an excellent Mexican Burrito. Waitstaff is friendly, providing excellent service. It is a cozy diner with a glass enclosed outdoor like seating area beside the normal table and booths. Prices are spectacularly reasonable. Rare in NYC. We live on E. 56th off 1st. Avenue and we would still rather take the bus to eat at Green Kitchen than go to our two local diners that can’t compare in either taste and selection offered and at much higher prices. I saved the best comments for last. My wife and I both enjoy a good cup of coffee. Most restaurants offer a bland selection with minimal taste. The brand offered at Green Kitchen is the best tasting coffee we have ever had! Strong taste, with a great aroma but no bitterness. No sugar required. Just the minimal half/half. The brand is called PASCAL. Only available at restaurants. Been in business since 1931. Unfortunately not available to consumers. You won’t get a better cup anywhere and just completed the meal!

A dying breed

By Schipa |

Quintessential Greek diner that has been here forever with a series of Greek owners. They manage a vast menu at a reasonable price with extremely quick and cheery service. Nice change from these temples of food where you wait forever and then pay an arm and a leg for pretentiously described food that fails to deliver. Excellent breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Too bad these places are dying out and either being replaced by Starbucks or banks. It will be interesting to see if these places get priced out of their rent with the new 2nd avenue subway. In any case, nice place to have in the neighborhood and they put out reliable diner food. Some of their Greek specials actually approach fine dining and at a third of the price of fine dining establishments. They will also whip up things not on the menu if they can. Excellent value.

Good diner

By SquawkerMelbourne |

I ate breakfast and lunch at this place several times during a prolonged New York City stay. The diner is very busy, but very well run. The food was always good, the service was prompt and efficient and the serving portions were large.

Below average food and average service

By JonkeB |

The teenagers wanted to try an American diner without checking it out before on Tripadvisor. We landed at Green Kitchen and they liked the menu. We had burger, pasta, quesadillas, onion rings, French fries and more. None of the teenage boys finished their plates since they did not like the taste. The onion rings were almost finished while we had hardly none of the French fries. Most of it was soggy and lacked freshness. We were put in a corner and had to work hard to get attention. The waiters were nice. Why you should come here, maybe the breakfast? You should not come here if you want good honest tasty food. We will not comeback here.

I would skip this place

By Stonesteps |

We were very unimpressed. Firstly we asked for water and we served something that tasted like sugar water. They get their water from the soda tap apparently. After getting bottled water, I found a string inside in onion ring. If took 5 requests to get the manager to come over. His excuse was that they buy frozen prepared onion rings and it wasn't his fault, which surprised me because I thought this was an upscale restaurant. The entrees were unremarkable and dry.To add insult to injury there is charge for using your credit card, which we were not told about until we paid. There are a lot of great restaurants in the area, and I would skip this place.

New on 2nd Avenue

By Re27k |

This is called Green Kitchen 2. Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating There are tables, booths and a counter with 12 seats. Ordered a salad - stuffed avocado and tuna salad. It had lettuce, cucumbers, red onions - I omitted the peppers. I also ordered decaf coffee with cream. It was fresh. Pleasant atmosphere. There are two televisions behind the counter. Room enough for my small cart. Asked if I wanted more coffee. Will definitely try again next time I am in area.

Staple Restaurant in Upper East Side

By Harvey E |

Twice I went to the Green Kitchen and because my wife had experienced getting an infection in her mouth we always requested disposable cups and flatware as these items are handled more than dishes. The wait staff gave us stories that the board of health would not allow them to bring disposable cups for their hot beverages. on our second visit a manager came over and said that they don't provide "to go" hot cups to dining in patrons. I believe they don't do this to save money or don't want other patrons to question their sanitary conditions. Later the owner said everything is washed at extremely hot water and asked for our understanding as he realized they should accommodate their customers request our were not outrageous. My wife had eggs florentine and their hollandaise sauce was not very good but the rest of our meal was quite good.

Large luncheon specials menu.

By Re27k |

Ordered the turkey lunch special that included soup. Also ordered the salmon burger that included soup . The matzah ball chicken soup was delicious. The salmon burger over Caesar salad was very large and tasty. The turkey was also fresh and tasty. Had cheese cake for desert. It was delicious.

Solid - As a NYC Diner Should Be - A 3+

By RobTangeman |

It actually took us a bit of walking around before we stumbled on Green Kitchen - which came recommended by several folks on the street. It was solid The egg white omelet was filling and nicely cooked. The service was good too - we were there for business and they got us served quickly and then left us alone. Everything was reasonably priced as well. $8-$15 can get you a good filling breakfast.

Dinner

By Judith484 |

This place has a friendly and bar. Food is good and place is casual. Various types of food and price was good.

Standard but good

By robcurtross |

Ate lunch at this old time New York city diner specializing in healthy foods and recently moving on to a number of Mexican inspired dishes. The new arrivals show some promise but the old standards are still here and quite good. Very friendly service but cleanliness in the restrooms could and should be improved.

Interesting version of huevos rancheros

By robcurtross |

I had lunch at this favorite diner, Green Kitchen, recently. As usual service was fast and friendly, and cleanliness was acceptable. The huevos rancheros were served on a crisp tortilla much like a mini pizza — delicious and I hope to be added to the regular menu.

Nice diner

By ChinaDuo |

My wife and I stopped into this diner in our neighborhood one night this week after planning on doing so for over one year. The atmosphere was great as it was decorated in Fall Colors and Motif. The staff was very friendly (well, the waiters were but the girl working the cash register was not) and checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. My wife ordered the Jalapeño Omelette with home fries and toast. At $8.95 it was a great value and the taste was excellent. I ordered a Patty Melt (which was not on the menu but they prepared it for me anyway) with Onion Rings. The Patty Melt was better than average and the onion rings were good (not great but good). The portion sizes of both dishes were very large and we left stuffed! In short, it is a very good neighborhood diner and we will go back.

Yes they have the kitchen sink!

By B W |

What an extensive menu. You want it, they have it. Brunch, breakfast, lunch, dinner, you will not go away hungry. Located on 1st Ave on the upper east side, it's open 24/7. Soups, sandwiches, breakfast all day and they even serve quesadillas. Belgian waffles, bagels, muffins, Churasco, paninis, wraps, meatballs, and even Greek food. They have it all. Open since 1931 they must be doing something right. Yes they do deliver should you be staying on the area.

ALWAYS GOOD!

By Kara B |

Love this place. I'm a hospitality worker and it's hard to find a good meal at 5am when I knock off work... This is my go-to diner in my neighbourhood for quick, fresh, yummy meals, the staff are friendly, especially the Russian lady on the graveyard shift, the food is SO cheap considering all the sides you get, like coleslaw & pickle, and I've never had a bad meal there... Far from it, it's much above the standard of diners I've experienced in Manhattan, Brooklyn & Queens :) I just want to also state here I'm somewhat of a picky eater... Not crazy picky but I expect freshness... If I get pancakes with strawberries and the strawberries don't taste right I'll send it back... If my salad is limp I'll send it back... This place always delivers the yumminess, and you can go home after a night out without feeling too bad about your binge 😜 Also: have a smoothie they're great!

Nothing Special

By paul m |

Ordered the wiener schnitzel and the meat was a nice large size, but it had no taste, was bone dry, and was encased in a thick bland crust. Alongside was a tiny portion of potato salad featuring two barely cooked through lumps of potato. Also served were tasty slices of baby cucumber.

slightly modern American diner, good grub

By Alison R |

This place doesn't look so much like a diner as a cafe, with its glassed in outside areas, and feeling of spaciousness. It's bright and airy. Service is fast and friendly. Breakfast is usually the best meal at a diner establishment, but this time I had lunch. The daily specials are particularly good value, including a small bowl of soup (outstanding chicken noodle served piping hot) with the main. Chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. My friend had cinnamon French raisin toast with syrup, also reportedly very good, grilled rather than fried. Clean, free icy cold water, and you don't get forgotten and standards of service seem good. Bathroom is clean. Good sized portions too.

New Dogs at Green Kitchen

By Getting The Fax |

It’s the same Green Kitchen, with new digs. Good and solid as always. Diner food, cat single out any of this standard fare always up to par.

Great experience!

By Tanna Cervenka |

Green Kitchen was great, the food was delicious and the staff and servers very friendly. It must be new because it was packed, but the food made it worth the short wait. 10/10 will return!

Great little diner with an authentic feel

By Freqtrav17 |

We've eaten at the Green Kitchen several times, both late at night and for brunch. They are open 24hrs (as are so many things on Manhattan). The service is friendly, the feeling is of an authentic family-owned restaurant (although I have no idea if this is actually true). The menu has lots of selections from various cultures, but Greek-style items do hold pride of place. The Avgolemono is good as is the Greek salad and Greek Appetizer sampler. Likewise, the breakfast menu is varied, although it doesn't wander far off the beaten track as breakfast menus go. The raisin bread french toast with fresh berries is great. Overall a great place to go for a quick meal any time of the day or night. And, do beware, because this cannot be said of all "diners" in the neighborhood.

Excellent breakfast

By robcurtross |

They claim this restaurant has been here since the 1930s, but they certainly have maintained it beautifully. Cleanliness is excellent. They have all the menu items that you would expect from a seasoned New York city diner. Service is fast and very attentive. Everything is cooked to order.

Good diner in Manhattan

By Shelly S |

I went here for an omelet which was good. I was allowed to substitute the bread with fruit and I had egg whites with feta and spinach. The sevice was good too

Favorite Diner

By klovinger |

I have been going to this diner since I was born, and I have watched it blossom into an amazing restaurant and the food has gotten better and better! I always choose breakfast, and you can't go wrong with a grilled cheese or blueberry pancakes (two of my favorites). This will always be a place I bring my friends on a lazy Sunday, and maybe one day my future family as well :)

Good Standard Diner Fare

By Robert T |

Yorkvilel has its share of diners. Within a four block radius of any point there are probably two or three diners you can go to. Green Kitchen is typical of the genre. The room though does not look like a typical diner. Seems like a cross in between one and a regular restaurant which actually is a step up from most of the ones nearby. Like other diners there is an adequate bar with wine and mixed drinks. Service is quite good. We never lacked for attention. The menu is not as extensive as some of the diners in the area but you would be hard pressed to not find something you would want on it. Food quality is good but then that is par for the course for diners in Yorkville. Definitely cannot go wrong with Green Kitchen.

Delicious, healthful dinner

By Martha O |

Warm, hospitable atmosphere; tables not too close. Very tempting menu. My son had NY strip steak, which he pronounced delicious, with an expertly prepared lemonade. I had excellent GK salmon, which was outstanding, and an excellent glass of wine. We both had an accompanying Caesar alas, which was both ample and tasty. We expect to return often.

Enjoy your meal!!!! ;)

By francy81Florence |

I had to write another review of this restaurant, because every time I go back I find it increasingly improved. The menu is huge, I tried some of their dishes and have never been disappointed. Everything is fresh, tasty and the portions are very generous. The service is quick, the waiters friendly and really helpful. If you want to be served with greater sympathy and attention, ask of Carlos, among all is definitely the best. He Remembers to memory what appeals to the customer and is always fast and smiling. I highly recommend it! I will definitely come back!

Good Food And reasonable Service

By SOMAGERK |

Went here to eat one night 6 people the staff seemed happy to see us, and were keen to serve us, helped with suggestions even advised me to have meal of day once they knew what i was after, made sure all drinks came promptly and watched to make sure everything needed was done. The food itself was good with a wide variety of things, thank you for an enjoyable meal

Enjoyed eggs benedict here for lunch as well as Meyer Lemon spaghetti for dinner.

By Johnny W |

Ate here twice this week. Had eggs benedict for lunch. The food was excellent and the waitstaff was friendly and efficient. Went back a few days later for dinner. Loved the Meyer Lemon spaghetti with shrimp. I like the fact that the restaurant is spacious. I ate inside but there are also tables on the sidewalk. The only negative for me is that the music (at dinner) was louder than it needed to be. Otherwise, all was good and I will go back again.

Good breakfast

By James G |

Pretty good breakfast. Nice fruit salad, great eggs, bacon and potatoes. Good coffee but have had better pancakes.

Staff were fabulous

By Kate M |

No booking but they quickly made up a table for the 5 of us. Staff were very good, treated us like family after learning we were from Oz - the owner had spent 10 years in Australia and was anxious to chat about his good times there as a young man. We had such a fun night - meals were really just ok, although can highly recommend the lobster tortellini. A fun and happy night thanks to the staff.

An East Side Find

By tweedybird26 |

We were pleasantly surprised by this pleasant, upscale version of a diner. The menu was extensive and better priced than we expected. The noise level upon our arrival was loud but the hostess took care to bring us to a booth where the sound level was not a problem. Our server was efficient and our meals were excellent with large portions. We will definitely return.

Business dinner in NYC

By Ian F |

Great restaurant with fantastic food. Service at this establishment was also superb and choice of food extensive. When I get back to NYC in the new year I will come back to this place.

24 hours of goodness!

By Travelling_Terp27 |

I had ordered carry out at 12am from here when I visited NY in March. We had ordered the chicken fingers (which were great!) and fries (decent enough). I also had a breakfast sandwich from here that was good (sausage egg and cheese to be exact). The delivery came within 20-30mins about a few blocks from the restaurant to where we stayed. I also dined in for brunch on a Sunday and wow this place is packed but there is so kuch movement youll either be seated immediately or have to wait just a few mins. The servers are attentive and you get served water immediately and the food comes out pretty fast too. Quality is definitely better than an iHop or Dennys but expect your typical diner type food. This time around we had the fruit covered waffle (strawberries and blueberries), lumberjack combo (eggs, bacon, ham, and 3 fluffy pancakes). The grilled cheese with bacon we had was not the best, small, and the cheese was barely melted so I would stay away from that. The checkout process is like a typical diner where you get rung at the register and this is chaotic with peope coming in and out at the small entrance (minus 1 star).

Eat here, die home

By |

The Green Kitchen has been one of the worst diners in NYC for a long time now. In the old days it was open late and after being out all night most did not care. Why they don't get a new chef is beyond me. On the weekends people go for eggs otherwise they do little business now. The place could be a goldmine. Now it's just... "Eat here, die home" Yes someone can screw up a plate of eggs!!!

Great breakfast diner

By thepickytourist |

This is a great breakfast/brunch spot. Their menu is massive (I always get breakfast but everything I've seen looks delicious) The omelets are great, they always cook exactly how you order. The place is always busy, but service is great and it has a charming diner atmosphere.

NO BETTER PLACE FOR BREAKFAST.

By Diana N |

We live only a few blocks from the Green Kitchen and with all the restaurants in the neighbourhood to choose from I wouldn't go anywhere else. You're greeted by 2 lovely hostesses Bessie or Leylani, who treat you like family. Your eggs are always good to perfection! Try it yourself and see.

Better Than Your Average Diner

By SarahSesaw |

Love their salads and breakfast items. Great for families and kids. Excellent service. Nice and clean.

Once Was Enough. The opposide of Excellent.

By DJKTraveler |

Mediocre food, but attentive table service. Horrible acoustics. How did this place ever survive? A noisy echo chamber with average food. Once was enough.

large portions!

By LindaJ2 |

First time I had eaten here while visiting my daughter. We were greeted and seated right away. The server brought over an appetizer for us to try, no cost. Our meals were so large that we couldn't finish them and took the leftovers to eat another day. The meal was just as good the second day.

Tried and True

By Veri K |

Great Greek Diner and more! Food is consistently good with so many things to choose from! Of course there are the eggs, omelettes and sandwiches like any good Greek Diner offers, but Green Kitchen has that and more! Excellent soups, panini and main courses too! Always my "go-to" for everyone and for all times of the day!

Closed????

By Good G |

Went to Green Kitchen for breakfast this morning. My favorite breakfast on the Upper East Side. It was closed -- does anyone know why???? When will it be reopening?

Locss as o place on 84 near 2 nd Avenue that s good for a nice breakfast with strong coffee, decent corned beef hash a

By Allan S |

The restaurant has moved from first Avenue to second and offers some excellent breakfasts. Their corned beef hash is okay , the coffee is strong snd service is a bit spotty. Prices are upper east side for around $24-39 per breakfast entree and coffee. It is pleasant during outside in the shade from late spring to stunning. People are friendly snd the menu is varied.

Great food and great service ❤️

By Cecilie G |

We went after working up an appetite in Central Park. The staff were great and welcoming. The portions were generous and the drinks were nice and strong.

Bosses could care less

By PETERPNYC |

Have eaten here more than a few times recently , and the food is usually pretty good, but can be inconsistent . Got cold vegetables and main courses more than once , and although I specified Hot the other day, I was served a baked potato on which soft butter would not melt . It's unfortunate the owners/management, don't seem to take an interest even when they are there, and basically allow the staff to do all the heavy lifting . Used to be much much better, years ago under old management ! It's really a shame management does not get involved as this is a Historic part of the Upper East Side .

1st Ave breakfast rather than 2nd Ave brunch

By kevin56 |

Just found my go-to for breakfast when I'm in the neighborhood! Pancakes, eggs and sausage were all terrific, as was the coffee. Breakfast menu is a great value and the service couldn't have been better. It's the kind of place you could come with a group of friends or just by yourself. Will definitely be back.

Nice lunch

By DttCaimano |

Nice brunch in green kitchen always a pleasure. Pancakes were nice and sandwiches too. I advice you to try it you will not be disappinted. Fair prices.

Great food

By ro o |

I wanted something that was healthy so had a tuna salad which was massive and had a lot f other things on the dish. There are lots of other items from pasta to pizza to burgers so you have a big choice. The waitress was very friendly and helpful too. We sat outside but there's plenty of space inside and out.

Good Breakfast, Good Service, Cost Is Very Reasonable For NYC

By Michael Z |

The Green Kitchen Restaurant is located on a busy corner on 1st Avenue with commuters walking back and forth to the subway on Lexington or a bus on 1st Avenue. So, if you're up early for breakfast this is the place to go. Get a table by the side street window and watch the Manhattan pace of pedestrians. Service is quick and very good. There are several specials for breakfast served Monday through Friday. Fresh squeezed orange juice is a plus with every special. Coffee is good, served hot and you don't have to ask for a second cup. The waiters are there to fill it once they see it's half gone. Prices are very reasonable for Manhattan. It's a good restaurant in a busy neighborhood on the Upper Eastside.

Great upscale diner in upper east side with cool vibe atmosphere!

I have been here a few times and every meal has been fresh & delicious. Service is always pretty quick. My new favorite restaurant in this neighborhood! I highly recommend

My dad and I ate here in the city a few days ago for lunch. We tried the mac and cheese with chicken for an appetizer which was amazing. For our meals we got a Pastrami Sandwich and a California Chipotle burger, which we both really enjoyed. The service was also very good! I definitely recommend this place and hope to return sometime soon!
