The food and drinks are plentiful. The wait staff is efficient, friendly, and not aggressive. The house band is jamming. I noticed people came just for the band. They played soul, funk, oldies. Just a note. It starts about 9-ish. So if you have to get up early. You've been warned. Cause you'll want to stay.

As I peeked through the Groove's window, the band and the ambience drew my attention. I followed my gut instinct and enjoyed a soulful evening with Kennedy Administration on vocals backed by New York's best funk band. In fact, the entertainment was riveting coupled with the restaurant's soulful dishes. It will be a night to remember.

An absolutely FANTASTIC venue to see live music if you like funk as well as R&B. I find my way to Groove every time I visit the Big Apple!

A great atmosphere we stayed 2 times and were not disappointed! The bands were excellent the place is not very big so we have a good visibility on the scene I strongly advise for who wants to have a good night

We went to the Groove because we didn't want to wait to get in to the Blue Note and had a great time. Black Soul Expression was playing - amazing covers of Earth Wind and Fire. Prince went there to see them three weeks before he died. Service was good, crowd was friendly and there was no cover.

What a find! After a lovely tour of NYC (we’re British tourists), our most random night out whilst there took us to Groove Bar. We had been told it was a place to dance, so I must be honest I was a little surprised when we walked in to find nobody dancing, and people sat down watching a band. They had just started. I turned to my girlfriend and said ‘We’ll stay for one and find somewhere else.’ How wrong I was. The band was called ‘Li’nards many moods’ and they instantly became one of our favourite live bands of all time! They were absolutely hilarious. The exchanges they had between songs, the witty ribbing of a nearby table (that were trying to be cool) and their interaction with the audience was amazing. Their song choices were so upbeat and it wasn’t long before people were dancing and having such a good time. We stayed the whole night, spoke to the band, and I do believe every single person in there had a top night. Kudos to Groove Bar for providing an unforgettable night. Would highly recommend this venue, particularly if Linard is playing!

The band was incredible - Li'nard's many moods - funky and super fun! Really knew how to get the crowd going. The service was fast and amazing! I had the falafel platter and it was fresh and delicious! We will definitely be back!!

We enjoyed our last night in NYC with a visit to Groove. The ambiance and food were nice. The band, NYsCene was incredible! Melanie Rae and the male lead vocalist brought the crowd to its feet with a medley of songs that included Adele, Whitney Houston, En Vogue, Bruno Mars, Tina Turner, and my favorite Mary J. Blige. The manager was a bit rude but the band really outshined his behavior!

I found out about Club Groove by chance and am I glad I did. We spent a brilliant night here listening to a band that were tighter than tight .On a Thursday it's L,nerd ,they were unreal . The singers voice was incredible ... The bass player like Stanley Clarke .. I swear .. It was awesome !! Our waitress was fantastic , the drinks the cheapest since we arrived in NY .. It all adds up to a five star night out .. Don't miss it !

Live band that places and sings any kind of music. Food is good. Drinks is good. $3 tequila shot with purchase of a beer. You'll be dancing all night!

On a great block in Greenwich Village. Smallish but not too small. Great crowd. Live music. No cover.

I visit this place to listen a jazz band, the music was perfect. The place is ok, but without live music I didn't find it interesting.

We arrived here hung over and still and bit jet lagged, had some interesting tasting wine and were given a small space on a bench like arrangement to eat. The food was pretty good for the price, tasty and plentiful, who expects a la carte from a bar? As the evening wore on the place just got better and better. Fantastic live music (I think the band were called L'inda?) - in fact it was so good that what we had thought would be a quick bite to eat and a drink turned into a full on, swaying to McDonalds as they turn the screens to breakfast, party. Give it a go.

We stumbled on this place last night. Enjoyed 3 hours from a 4 piece band, whose name I can't remember, but they perform every Thursday evening. Fronted by the bassist and a great vocalist, supported by keyboards and drums, they rocked the small atmospheric venue for 3 hours. Talented musicians and cheeky characters, they wowed the crowd with some R&G, jazz, blues and rap, but all with their own unique riffs and twists added. They got increasingly rude and lewd as the set progressed, but the audience loved it. No cover charge midweek. Voluntary donation for the music. Good beers. We didn't eat here. Really fun evening in the heart of the Village.

Forget the food, it is all about the music. We attended a retrospective on various artists performed by Emilie Surtees. The atmosphere was intimate and the music electric. The band really did cut the mustard and the interaction with audience made it a night to remember. I see an earlier comment about the waiting staff and yes it is probably true but will never let that spoil an amazing evening. When we are next in NYC, this will be the first place for entertainment we will visit,

This place is all about the music! Sure the food is fine and the drinks reasonable but it’s cramped and crowded. However, don’t let that put you off as it all helps build atmosphere. If you can, be sure and make a night when Li'nard's Many Moods are playing. Boy, but they surely know how to get a crowd going!!

Went in for a drink and then decided to have the lunch special. Watching all the Santa’s on pub crawl around Greenwich Village, whilst enjoying gorgeous Malbec and lunch special food. Great service, atmosphere, food and drink. Moody door man but don’t let him put you off!!

We did not eat but we made it to the 9 oclock show to see Troy Weekes and JI Groove and they were so great! I cant remember if there was a cover charge or not but if there was it was not more than $10 - see the lineup on FB @ club groove nyc

Went to Groove after dinner at Otto Enoteca to see a band (Money $hot Crew) our friends son play bass with. Great vibe here! We had already eaten so only drinks were served, Good service. The band is a regular on Monday. Stop by and see this band or other great live music and enjoy a good time at Groove!

Wandering around a freezing Greenwich Village we chanced upon the Groove. What a find! No cover charge and good value simple food - but oh! the live music. We saw Jeremie Gaddie and the Money Shot Cru. Just Wow! Four sensational jazz/soul musicians of the top order, and at the end of two sets they brought on a rapper friend of theirs who was also sensational. This is real music by musicians who just love their art. The atmosphere at the bar was exuberant and responsive to an amazing band. Staff were great and the overall bill very fair for a night of absolutely top class entertainment. We loved it!

Went here on the recommendation of my niece and her partner, they were spot on. The food was good along with the service and all at a reasonable price. It's a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit. Can't remember the name of the band that was on, 12th September, but they really got the place going. With the tube just round the corner it's easy to get to.

The place itself is quite common, but the live music turns it into a really good option to have some fun and enjoy NYC's night. It's just a few steps from the iconic Café Wha, and even share with it some of the attractions. Had a very good time and would definitely recommend!!

Went here at the recommendation of the Washington Sq hotel staff, because they said we could prob get in on short notice. Small cover charge, cozy venue, very good acoustics. The Kennedy Administration was the main act on the night we went. Very powerful and soulful jazz singer with accompanying alto saxophone & other rock instruments. She had the house rocking! The wait staff was friendly & attentive and the prices were reasonable. Be prepared to tip the musicians, however, because if you don't they will pass the tip jar like an offering plate in church LOL. Had an absolute blast here!

i discovered this place by change, it was wonderful, live jazz music, good typical meal, the atmosphere was warm, the waiter nice.. i spent a very good night in there.

We were introduced to Groove NYC by a wonderful couple, drinks are cheap, no cover charge during the week and the music was fantastic. Highly recommend Groove NYC if you are into jazz, soul and R & B music - place has a wonderful vibe

Visited Groove on our first night in NYC. The band was awesome - brilliant live music, kept us entertained and made a fuss of everyone in the audience. Ordered food here too that was lovely - quick service and reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.

Dropped by here since the comedy cellar was sold out, and was so happy we found this gem. Don’t come here for the culinary experience, but for the welcomming and friendly air. And for the awesome gigs. Spreads between jazz, funk and reggae. Make sure not to miss out!

This was my 2nd. time at this Groovy gem. The wait staff Amazing especially Anastasia. So friendly and attentive. Say Hello to Mr. Julian, he alone willmake you a reqular. The Groove is for the real grown folk to eat, drink, and snap fingers and Groove!!

Just few steps from Blue Note. Very nice pub with live music, frontman communicated with public so we suddenly became a part of the snow and enjoyed it much. Large variety of drinks and friendly staff.

Great spot for live music. I've heard people say their food is good, though we didn't have any (just came from dinner). Drinks and prices are decent, with ok service.

We visited the Groove. The music was really good. The menu is limited but the food was excellent. The downsides were the lukewarm waiting staff and the noise of the patrons during the music. There was no call to keep noise levels low during the performance.

Best fries ever. The groove burger is also excellent. Nice atmosphere. We were served by Chris who is a nice guy. Some jazz band at night makes the place very pleasant. Of course the neighborhood is well animated with colorful and diversified.

What can I say, but GREAT entertainment. The Black Soul Experience is a sultry band that can give you almost every type of music. The Groove itself needs remodeling so it's very small and tight and bathrooms need remodeling. You pay about $10 to get in and have a two item minimum. The drinks are OK, the food... Ummmm nachos disgusting, egg rolls small, wings seem to be the best. The band itself is amazing! The only thing I didn't like is that they went around with the church bucket three times soliciting offerings... Then again I guess it's their hustle. Tracy Nicole (female artist) is the bomb... Shout Out to her!!! We caught a Lyft there from Times Square wasn't too bad!

They don't really know the difference. Incredibly loud music from a mediocre band. Good wine, good guacamole

This is the kind of place you want to go and listen to great music and meet visitors or locals. It’s small and cozy.

Arrived just as first act was finishing up and were put at very back of the place. Charged $10 cover which seemed reasonable. Had already eaten elsewhere so we ordered a drink and waited for next group to start (nothing special and price about what you would expect). It was obvious that the performers were local creating a good vibe and we liked the first couple of tunes. But it went downhill from there. The group spent the next 25 min soliciting crowd for money while playing Prince tunes. Weirdest thing, at one point they sang a few bars then sent lead singer around with a hat. Could have been an unusual night but I think there are other venues you may want to check out.

Great Greenwich Village Venue for Music. Nice staff, helpful, pleasant, from the front door to the stage, everybody was great. Saw a soulful artist named Lilla perform with a great band, and the crowd was a great mix as was the music...R&B, Soul, Contemporary, with the audience jumping into the songs like a community choir. Food was very good, not great.

We stopped in to see the band "Evergreen Experience" and they were fabulous! The crowd was really fun, drinks were good, and I loved the atmosphere! Just what we were hoping to find in a New York club! We definitely will be back!

Went here on a Friday night with my girlfriend and a couple of friends and we had an amazing time. We caught the 9pm show and the music was awesome. The food is pretty good too. I'd recommend anyone to this place if you love live music, you will not regret it.

Just up from the iconic Blue Note but no line-ups/cover charge. One of the best funk bands I've ever seen. The place is electric. We didn't eat but the music & overall experience is one you'll never forget. I'd go back any time in NY.

This place is fantastic. If you like soul and classic souls beats, life music, jazz style, groove New York is the place to be. Close to the beginning of 5th avenue, super located. Here you experience the real New York. Even the food is good. It is a small place but it is a must see. Seating also available. 7$ cover charge are nothing compared to what you get. Top!!!

After having dinner my friend and I were walking back to the subway when we passed by this place and heard the amazing music coming from inside. We were looking in the window when the bouncer said come on in, it's free tonight. No need to tell us twice. We went in and enjoyed the rest if the night listening to the r/b band playing. They were super! We have added this to our regular rotation of places to go. I'm in love with the atmosphere and the great people and music. The drinks are ok but you really go for the music.

1) The wine list is not clearly identified with the property name and year. You only pick a cheap varietal wine (grape type) which is unseen in any restaurant. It was changed since the last time I went to Groove in Nov. 2020. 2) The alcohol pricing increased to a minimum of 14$ for both low-quality wine or cocktails. We understand the impact of COVID-19 but the clients were also touched financially by the pandemic. 3) At the end of an average service, our waitress forced a 20% tip directly (kindly pre-charged on my credit card) while we were only a table of 2. It feels unfair and pushy. 4) When we enquired about this practice, Shana (waitress with glasses) ironically said it's usual. Being a regular client since 2018 and a dozen visits to the establishment, I know it's a total lie. 5) Overall, the place was a Gem and became a tourist trap despite the quality of the musical program. Based on points #1 to #4, I will probably never be back.

Tried Groove Bossa Nova Sundays with family and friends. Live entertainment by a guitarist and a vocalist. Both were excellent. You can appreciate how much they enjoy performing by the passion that fuels their expression. A repertoire out of Carlos Jobim song book , and then some, delivered with an invasive pathos that imbues your senses with the gentle notes of bossa nova, made for an out of the ordinary evening pastime. The sensual doctors say that you do not resist these soft notes and gentle melodies, but instead you invite them to reach and titillate you. Not even a guitar/equipment malfunction stopped this duo from doing what it obvious they love to do as the guitarist requested another guitar to be delivered to continue the performance that was near conclusion. We patiently waited and when the new guitar arrived, they gave us even more! The bar/restaurant menu is of light fare but there is enough to choose whether drinks or food. The portions are generous, the food is tasty and the prices are reasonable for the venue. The service was excellent. This entire experience was a kaleidoscope of flavors coming together in one place that is so characteristic of the melting crucible that is New York City at its best.

Greenwich night New York, as I like it. We're on Third Street, moving, wriggling. Tail trip to the Blue Note, 100 m. We see Groove at the corner of Third and McDougall. For our last night in NYC, we are pleased - Extra Group - Fast service, cocktails and wines according to expectations, very decent prices. For an evening of musical atmosphere and relaxation, go for it.

Always do my shows here. Great price on drinks. Cozy sit down spots to eat. Food is okay but the entertainmnet is great

Unfortunately we will not be returning to this establishment after todays experience 2/17/23. I arrived this afternoon with two ladies from out of town who I was trying to show a great time. My one partner has a service dog apart of her accommodation. The African American man at the front door did not greet us and demanded photo ID for our service dog. We showed him documentation (which is illegal) and he said it was not sufficient enough and demanded documentation with a photo of our service DOG next to it. We in fact showed him but told him we no longer wanted to stay and that we will report it. He then stated “I will report your attitude.” Never did I imagine a service animal would be harassed for photo documentation at a 2 star dive bar. I work at a 5 star luxury hotel in the city and I am very familiar with the service animal policy. This man was very passive aggressive, rude and unprofessional. Meanwhile as this was going on, he was joking with the bartender how he threw up last night. We will not be returning 0 stars

This is bait and switch ..they hand you a menu ..you order and then the prices are higher when the bill comes and ...they charge automatic gratuity regardless of party size ....

Live music at this place is excellent. They play their own songs and samples from popular artists. They make the crowd be part of the show as well. Great fun, good vibes, excellent music,

We stood behind a rope, thinking it was the place to enter/wait for bouncer to check ID. They mocked us, asking why on earth we would stand there to get in. Then we discovered the cover was $10...we paid this, went in and discovered that the band wasn't ready for another 20 minutes. The singer repeatedly told us, sorry sorry we are late, sorry! It was totally obnoxious!!!! We caught the entire sound check, and so did all the poor people waiting at tables forever. The owner/bouncer was sarcastic and when we exited we asked if we needed a stamp on our hand if we wanted to come back later.....they laughed and said no and said, "It's another $10 cover though!" We just walked away and felt crappy about NYC nightlife people- especially at this place.

Came here after another jazz club. No cover charge, no drink minimum and quality musicians . No reservations needed , perfect way to end the night on a random Monday .we were visiting from out of town and had a blast!

The performers were great but unfortunately let down by the poor service. A two drink minimum (per person) seemed reasonable upon entering, but the staff all seemed like they had better things to do. Tables freed up as people left, but we were rudely told off for sitting down at one - all of which were unreserved. We didn’t mind standing, but it took away from the live band being constantly jostled and pushed by both wait staff and other visitors as there just wasn’t enough room for the number of people they had let in. After asking the FOH, she didn’t give a clear answer as to why people couldn’t sit at the free tables, and then seated a group of the same size who came in long after us. We stayed for one drink each, then went back to the bar to ask for my credit card back. The bartender came across pushy and unsympathetic that we weren’t happy with the service, and so were forced to pay for two drinks each in order to get my credit card back. It’s a shame as we would’ve loved to stay and watch the live band (who were great) but the staff really let it down... Except for the bouncer who had a really fun attitude.

We went there with a friend for New Year’s eve. Cute place with funk, disco music Wine we ordered wasn’t great but they gave us New Year’s hat and tiaras. Overall, a cute experience

My boyfriend and love the Groove. The first few times we've gone we heard The Black Soul Experience. Being music lovers we knew we found our spot. Last week we caught the Li'nard's Many Moods show. It is an amazing group! One of the best shows ever. If you enjoy Funk, R &B and Soul music; check out either of these shows. Mr. Li'nard's singer Rodge displays a mesmerizing vibe as he puts his soul into every song. Rarely do I feel the need to record a performance. But Rodge was something special and I knew I had to capture the moment. Mr. Li'nard's unique brand of wit and showmanship is hilarious. Another memorable event of the night is when one of the guitarist ripped through a song playing with his tongue! Needless to say; as a woman...I loooved it! Lol. This band is thrilling to watch and talented as hell! We stayed four hours and loved every minute.

Great night we went to listen to a happy birthday tribute to Stevie Wonder. The music was amazing as well as the happy hour wine prices, and the food. Service was great. A special shout out to Don, had called a week early to find out what time we should show up as we had not been to a show before there. Met him coming in and all night he kept checking to make sure everything was good with us, a very caring person

Stopped in for a drink during happy hour and it served it's purpose. They have $5 drink and appetizer specials. The apps were all fried so unless that's your thing I suggest you stick to the drinks. It was comfortable and lively and the service was attentive.

Such a wonderful little place! The band there last weekend was simply fantastic and so much fun, my husband and I really enjoyed it and stayed much longer than we had anticipated ! Will return :)

PROS: - FOOD IS GOOD CONS: - Cut off time for happy hour was 7:00pm - Last call was 6:45. We put in our request for a last tequila shot at 6:55. It was never brought to us. - At 7:05 we called over our waitress. she said Argentine of final call 6:45, her manager "ODED" CHANGED THE happy hour prices to regular even though happy hour wasn't over until 7pm. - I called ODED over and he argued with me, then stormed off. The waitress came back with 2 beers. - We said, we didn't order 2 beers. She said, ODED/manager said that's all we can give you for happy hour. - I called ODED back over and explained our last order was shots not beer. Again he stormed off. - The waitress came back with one shot and not 2. Said that's all ODED would honor. - I called ODED over and said, "here take the shot back. It's not about the dollar turnabout honoring your services and customers. There are two of us and you are a very bad manager". - He walked off and said "whatever". - Too bad the manager was so Bad. The band " Ripmoses" was awesome but I refused to stay and and give GROOVE another penny!

We came to the Groove whilst in transit to another country, and what an amazing experience. We came especially because we knew that 'Li'nard and his Many Moods' were playing that night and they did not disappoint! The place is a quirky little place, with room at the front to sit, you can order food, which is apparently very good and it is table service. If you're in the neighbourhood, I would definitely recommend going there ad the atmosphere is so good!

The bartender and server were courteous and helpful. They have an awesome Happy Hour menu with $5 drinks (sangria, beer, etc) and $5 food items (fries, grilled cheese, mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad, etc.) The only reason for 4 stars is that their bathrooms are tiny and HOT. They did lock, though!

Be carefull with the payments, check your tickets before you leave! One friend of mine got over charged and when she complained, the waitress from taiwan and the manager spoke very badly to her and didnt solve the issue so she had to pay!! I got charged a 120$!! Just for two beers and two drinks! Its a shame that they fool people like this!!

It was raining so we stopped in for happy hour. The martinis were really good and the server was so nice. They were setting up for a band so that's a plus. We will be back.

Band was ok. That's the only really good thing. You pay a fee to enter, but you are also requested to pay the band (so what's the sense of the cover charge?). Service is very slow and not kind at all. Glasses smelled of bleach. Food was average. Just little value.

The Groove is a Restaurant R & B, Soul and Funk Music club,No Rock Music. They do serve food, mainly comfort food, the menu isn't large. But the main attraction is the great music, that is played at this Club. They do Motown,Philly Soul,Memphis sound and more. It's best to purchase your tickets on the Groove website. Tickets are only $10.00 our Drinks were $15.00 apiece if you don't have a ticket, you'll have to wait in line, outside until some patrons come out.The world famous Blue Note jazz Club, is on the same street as the Groove. There's Alot happening on this one street. It's an exciting place, with a great atmosphere, when we were there the place was rocking, the band was tight, and it was time to Party.

It was a Saturday night and the band playing was "the black sould experience". If you love soul, funk, boogie, and r&b, do a favor to yourself and go there! The bar was super crowded when we tried to get in. We stayed in line for quite a bit, but the await was totally worth it. When inside, it was so packed that we tried to move closer to the stage but we found out that the waiters didn't allow us to go beyond the bar area, because they apparently needed to serve table (in a really neurotic manner by the way). So we stood up there, at the border line between the bar and the seating area, but we could totally enjoy the live band experience, which was so enetertaining and rich of vibes and groove! After one hour and a half of standing, we finally got to seat down, during a music set change. We were surprised to se a "minimum 10$ per person" sign on the table when we got there, because actually by standing by the bar for so long we had already took two or more drinks each. Fortunately the waitress was so nice that she didn't enforce it with us. Over all, a must try!!

It was one of the pending places in Greenwich Village, we wanted to have a good dinner and listen to live music. Great group, musicians and singer, great connection with the people. Lot of tourists, fun, good service. You must go.

I was asked to pay 5$ to enter. The table very tiny and the service not that good. Food and beverage are average The second band started well and the atmosphere was cool. Step by step they became a bit vulgar and I hope I misunderstood by I heard them say "f*** Europe s***" asking people to clap. They asked twice to put money in a basket. Who likes these way of amusement will have fun, I'd rather prefer the Blue Note close by, a bit posh but you will never ever experience situation like the one described above.

When ever I travel back home to NY, I always hit this spot up. Didn't eat this time but the champagne and live music by NYC was AWESOME!

the music makes the place---the food is bar-room food, therefore, do not expect anything fancy, but I didn't go there for a culinary experience---I went to hear Cuban jazz and was delighted!

I had the luxury of visiting place recently... the food and drinks are average (I would prefer you eat before getting there) but the music is divine!! There's nothing like listening to a live performance whether it's jazz, r&b, rap or classical. You will never have a dull moment at this place! It's mostly jumping on Friday and Saturday evenings...depending on who's performing.

Absolutely loved this little gem. Red Sahara was great! The singer is a mix between Sade and Anita Baker. She was lovely to listen to. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the food. It was nothing to rave about. I'd recommend eating somewhere else first and then come here for the entertainment. Last but not least thank you to the doorman who taught us Floridians how to catch a cab in NYC. #supportlivemusic

This was a great meal, huge servings , friendly staff. We had a very good time in this establishment. SteK cooked to perfection.

Maybe it was a bad time to arrive, but happy hour was not a great experience from the food point of view. Deep fried spring rolls overcooked on the outside, and with very little filling. Nachos rather chewy and swamped with liquid cheese mixture. Not one we would want to repeat

As of this date, The Kennedy Administration plays here on Wednesday evenings. The music was great - this lady is extremely talented. The atmosphere is laid back and casual - no pretense or stuffy dress code. We did not eat here but there looked to be better than average bar type menu selections. The wait staff was great and attentive, the venue is small and cozy. We got there about a half hour before the show and no problems getting a good table.

We were there tonight to normally having a good time but the barmaid (Penny) was not nice at all. Too bad because the music was good. The atmosphere was chill but not the barmaid. First of all we waited a really long time to be served. We had one round what were 2 longdrinks. Second round 2 long drinks and 2 shots and suddenly the price was more than double. We just had enough cash so we could not tip here in cash but we were not ready to go home so we would of tipped here on the card if she wouldn't of been so rude. She didn't even gave us the chance to tip before she gave us an answer that we have to tip!! Anyway in the meanwhile we were drinking and suddenly she took away half of my shot. Not ok but don't say anything and then a bit later she does the same with the longdrink before I could finish it. Not done!!! Penny you were not nice at all!!

First time in New York, amazing bar- great live music, great atmosphere, nice drinks and reasonable price for Manhattan. Only downside was customer service, our waitress at the bar was very welcoming and nice however our waitress at the table was rude, unfriendly and very abrasive! Have never experienced customer service quite like it, and was polar opposite to the service we have received in the rest of New York! To be fair it was thanksgiving but regardless it Certainly put a downer on our night, and ensured that we won't be back.

Went to NYC for my bday and found searched for live music online...omg I am glad that we found this place! We went on Thursday for the free show and loved it so much we came back in Friday for another show! The band was AWESOME!!! They played a mix of old school rnb and hip hop. Since it was my bday they gave me a shout out and played my requested song...the place isn't big or fancy but if u want to hear some good music this is the place! We had chicken wings which were tasty too.

Stumbled upon the Groove after enjoying dinner at the Negril Village which is roughly a block away. We were looking for a place to catch some live music. We found it at the Groove. On this night and I would suggest you come see this amazing band called the Money Shot Cru with Jeremy Gaddie(?sp) they were awesome. They played a full set for nearly 2 hours filled with R&B, funk and soul! Covered so many good tracks and had everyone dancing and jamming. Loved this place and I would definitely recommend that you stop by and check it out. Now when it comes to ambiance, it's a bar where bands play so don't get too caught up in your expectations. Just expect that you'll hear good music, the servers are attentive and the food is bar food. Great time.. come out and enjoy.

I almost had a good time. The band was great. But one of the waitresses treated me with racist accusations of being unsafe when I was careful to avoid touching anyone. I don't feel safe returning as a black man.

I have been here several times throughout the years, but hadn't been in a while. Went after work with some friends during happy hour on 7/13/18 for drinks and appetizers. They have changed the appetizer menu and there are not much choices. The music that was playing wasn't Funk, Soul nor R&B. Asked the waitress would they be switching the music and she replied no. The drinks were good. We had plans to check out the band that was coming, but didn't stay long due to the music. Maybe the bands that come to play are Funk, Soul and R&B, but what about the after work Happy Hour music? We left and went down the street...

We went there just for a drink and we ended-up dancing all night.. Black Soul Experience performed great!! Only con: service was little slow but acceptable for a "packed" bar.. Try it..

We stopped over New York in transit to another destination and it was just a fantastic night. The waitresses were very friendly and accommodating. we went to see L'nerd band who has to be the best band I've seen! They were talented, friendly and interactive with the crowd and funny! Despite being tired from travelling we couldn't pull ourselves away! If you're in the area, it's a must 😊

The venue is very nice! The live music was exceptional (the only thing they always go around with this tips-bucket, pushing people to leave tips even on the night with a cover charge of 5$ or 10$.) They say it's how the band gets paid, but I'm pretty sure they get a part of the cover charge. The food and drinks were good. The waitress annoyed. And those restrooms, probably the worst restrooms I've seen in NYC.

One evening before, we tried to find a nice place to have a good beer and to hear good music live show, but sice it's been Sunday, there were very few places. it was a cold night and we were very disspaointes, so we came back on the next night. They charged us for 5 $ for each person on the entrance, but it was really worthy. They plsy a raal good music. Try it, and you won"t regret it
Monday night Fun !!!
