A Korean delight in NYC's theater district.

By Seth H |

The food is delicious and the service remarkably and memorably friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We started with the brussels, which have a sweet vinaigrette dressing and are cooked perfectly. The ribs were meaty, not fatty, with flavorful spicing. The corn and cheese is a surprise --- on the cob, but with chili powder. But the highlight was the kimchi fried rice, a uniquely delicious and satisfying dish topped by a perfectly poached egg. We closed the main courses with seafood kalguksu, a slightly spicy noodle soup with all kinds of seafood. Best seafood broth ever. Period Every other table had the black sesame bread pudding, so we decided to try it. They were right. Don't think about the colume of butter involved All in all, small with huge flavors served by an excellent wait team. Thanks Gurumé.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic dining experience! Gurme is a real gem everything from the warm atmosphere to the beautifully presented dishes shows great attention to detail. The food was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, and made with high-quality ingredients. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome. Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Highly recommended!

Korean tapas? Yes.

Great tasting, very interesting Korean-inflected food, served tapas style. Smallish menu, but everything we had (party of 8) was excellent. Lively room half a flight down on NYC's restaurant row, just west of the Theater District.

Great Little find

We decided to stop off here and try the Korean tapas as we like the tapas style of eating. We didn’t have any idea about Korean food and advised our server Adam of this. He explained everything really clearly and we decided to opt for 3 mains for 2 of us. The portion size was adequate for us but if you prefer larger portions maybe order more. The food arrived and we were not disappointed, everything was extremely tasty and flavorsome. We opted to have a dessert to share and again this didn’t disappoint. Fantastic restaurant with fresh good quality tasty food !

Just loved it

Great food. Great service. We really loved it. It is a Fusion korean kitchen with an interesting twist. We really recommend this place

Local not well defined

I have difficulty reviewing this place because it doesn't have a precise identity You don't understand exactly what it wants to be The proposal is good maybe the staff tries to give prominence to the dishes with long and detailed descriptions that then get lost almost immediately after the first taste Nothing that really sticks with you enough to suggest this place Quite qualified staff anyway Well-kept premises Prices I would say almost modest given the area

Wonderful tastes!

They're self-styled Korean tapas, and some of the dishes really are just a few bites, so it's a bit pricy, but still a very nice experience. Our favorites were the harvest mushroom bowl and definitely the black sesame bread pudding dessert, and we also enjoyed the birria mandu, oyster mushroom taco, steak & potatoes, scallop crudo, and charred romanescu. Service was friendly and fast.

Dishes are hit or miss

I made a reservation for myself and two friends for a Thursday at 6:15 (Note - if you cancel less than 6 hours prior, you get charged $10 per person). It was pretty packed at that time. For drinks, I had the Jejudo mocktail (grapefruit, coconut, pineapple). It reminded me of a pina colada, and it was nice and refreshing. Since everything is tapas style, we ordered a few dishes to share: -Baby back ribs (citrus dwenjang, perilla tempura, gochujang corn puree) - this had a good flavor to it. Although the meat fell off the bone, the meat was still somehow dry -Fried chicken wings (soy garlic, radish kimchi) - again nice flavor, but the batter was too thick. You're eating more batter than you are chicken -Charred romanesco (romanesco cauliflower, tingling chojang, creme fraiche) - this was my favorite dish. It was very unique and I loved how the creme fraiche balanced out the spice -Truffle dduk & cheese (brown butter korean rice cake, six cheese sauce, crunchy quinoa, crostini) - this reminded me of mac and cheese, and I liked it - especially with the thin crostini -Seafood kalguksu (knife cut noodles, haemul broth, manila clams, seasonal seafood) - a little basic. Not sure it was worth the $23 -Scallop crudo (hokkaido scallop, fermented chili vinaigrette, ruby red grapefruit) - I couldn't partake in this one since I am pregant but it looked really good/refreshing -Black sesame bread pudding (warm black sesame bread pudding, vanilla bean gelato, candied almonds) - aside from the cauliflower, this was the other dish of the night that I loved. You could really taste the black sesame, and I loved the candied almonds Overall, it seems the dishes are hit or miss. I wasn't hungry afterwards, but I definitely wasn't full, so just something to keep in mind in case you're super hungry since the menu isn't exactly cheap. Service was really great though - everyone we interacted with seemed very kind.

Superb from entering to leaving. We called early afternoon when just passing it was so good we booked for the family for dinner later. Taco’s were amazing but the Seafood Ramen blew me away it was delicious. Brilliant service (Victor) lovely atmosphere.

Terrific attention to detail. Interesting flavor combinations and textures. Love to see the chef touching tables. Great mid theater meal on a two do Shay! (Two show day😉). Will be back!

Times Square gem

By Steven C |

A rare restaurant near Times Square/Theater district with great vibes, food & service. Everything we ate was really unusual and delicious, especially the yellowtail ceviche and the scallop crudo. Small plates meant to be shared--we had 5 dishes plus the amazing bread pudding dessert for the two of us, and we left very satisfied. Service was excellent and the food came out very quickly, with plenty of time to catch our 7:00 show on a 5:30 reservation. Highly recommended!

Korean tapas - unusual.

Decided to give this place a try - Korean tapas! Although it was busy, we managed to get a table. The system was unclear at the start so we just ordered one dish each. I had the belly pork which was ok. Once we had decided we wanted more, we ordered another dish each and I tried the ribs. These were quite tasty. Service was pleasant but not very fast. It was ok but not cheap.

Korean tapas is amazing!!!

Visiting New York from the UK and have never had Korean Tapas before but can honestly say, it would be my go to from now on…the oyster mushroom tacos were a taste sensation and the spicy chicken and cheese hit the mark! The staff are very attentive and explained in detail every dish that was served. Can’t wait to visit again!!!

Not the cheapest but very tasty!

A whole new experience for me having Korean tapas! The food we had was amazing but being tapas the portions are on the small side with some pretty wild NY prices, it left me wanting to order more but needing to re-mortgage my house to pay for it.
