My cousin who lives in Queens brought me and my boyfriend here and we loved it. He maxe great recommendations for the food and it was amazing. I came back to London craving Dan Dan noodles.

Great Chinese restaurant we had the dry pot style chicken dish spicy. If you can't handle spicy dishes you can ask them to make the dish less or more spicy. They've got a scale 1 to 10 on how spice you like the dish to be. Also we had the Kung Po chicken and it's delish! Portions are a quite big so best to go with friends so you get to try more dishes per visit :)

This neighborhood used to be home to many fine Chinese restaurants, but as fashion changes, so does taste in ethnic food. We find many more Japanese and Thai places where Chinese used to be. So we were very happy to get to know Han Dynasty, a new place with many qualities to recommend. The space itself is large, with tables placed at distances from each other, Nice decor, high ceilings. Very nice and friendly service. The food is outstanding. Anything may be ordered with "degrees of heat" to taste. Den den mein, my favorite, is excellent and large enough to be an entree, though it's on the starter side of the menu. We noticed lots of couples, families, large groups being accommodated. Welcome to the neighborhood!

At here when it first opened. Enjoyed the food but did not go back due to the loud crowds and long waiting time. Decided to try it again late one night after 9:30. Got to sit at the bar almost immediately. BUT unfortunately the food was less than acceptable. Everything was heavily coated in starch/flour. Not much to distinguish different dishes in flavor. Furthermore, the last dish took forever to come from the kitchen even after a reminder. Did they forget?

There were 19 of us and we got distributed in 2 tables next to each other (13 is max count at their one big table). We ordered dishes like cumin lamb, dry pepper chicken. All the spices and peppers were fused well with the food. For us, it felt like a true spice fest. Dumplings in hot oil were amazing - not soggy..just felt right and the spice in the oil was not excessive. Most of all, we appreciated the restaurant supporting our bday party celebration by storing our icecream cake and giving us paper plates and plastic spoons for serving it at the dinner table. The food also came in very fast and we truly enjoyed our dinner. luckily for us, it was a beautiful summer evening and having the doors to the restaurant opened up felt that the east village neighborhood was part of our ambience.

I love Sichuan food and these guys do a good, solid job. Loved the dumplings and the Dan Dan noodles. Reasonably priced, "on point" and friendly service. In and out quickly...food meant to be shared. I like it a lot!

Not overly fancy, just good. Reasonably priced Chinese with lots of options. I recommend the scallion pancakes and the sesame noodles. Tasting menus for groups of 6 or more, starting at $20 per person

My business associates suggested the restaurant for dinner before a show at Irving Plaza. The restaurant was easy to get to and short distance to the venue. The food- well after eating lame Chinese food in NC it was a welcomed treat. I had not had Dan Dan noodle before. These were great. And the strings beanie/ pork- helped me to remember how good this dish can be when done right. Place is crowded but not overly noisy. I do recommend

Nothing amazing here, however, service is good and the food is quick and good. Not as spicy as people say.

Normally we go to "regular" (for lack of a better description) Chinese restaurants as the spiciness of Sichuan foods is sometimes too much for me (and the Cantonese wife!!), but we had a great dinner at Han Dynasty. The place was bustling on a Saturday Night but there were seats available at the small bar so we sat there. Everything was very good. We got the Fish & Tofu dish and 3 Cup Chicken (I think that was the name - I'm pretty sure '3' was in the title). I was nervous when the Fish & Tofu was ranked 10 on the spice chart (out of 10!!) but we asked the waiter/barman to tone it down a little. He let us know that even toned down it might be spicy, because that's how it's made, but he said they'll do what they could - especially as the Mrs has been in a Fish & Tofu mood lately. We were very impressed. The taste was very interesting - not too spicy - and we thought they'd take a chance at the Fish & Tofu title to load up the bowl with Tofu and chintz on the Fish, but there might have been more Fish than Tofu in the bowl!! The Three Cup Chicken was also interesting. Mostly sweet, so be prepared for that. The Dumpling appetizers were good as well. I'd give it 5 stars, but the Mrs doesn't like me giving so many 5's as she always wants folks to try even harder, so I'll give it a 4. But this is well worth a visit if you're in the East Village.

After a few failed attempts, I finally made it to Han Dynasty in the East Village. This Chinese restaurant opened a number of months ago, but, since they don’t take reservations, it’s all first come first serve. And, lots of people are lining up to be served there. So, since waiting an hour and a half wasn’t really in the cards, I decided to go for an early dinner and beat the crowd. Mission accomplished. The restaurant’s decor is simple, but each table is set with attention, and a hot pot of green tea is dropped off right away. They have their entrees numbered in terms of spice level. There was a “10″, and, believe me, I wanted to order that. But, I didn’t want to be too ambitious, so, I went for a “7″ and ordered Hot Sauce Style with Fish (stir fried with cabbage and celery in an authentic Sichuan chili oil hot sauce). So, the portion is huge, I guess it’s meant to share? But, I like ordering my own thing, so, I ended up with some left-overs. Served with a side of white rice, this dish was certainly a spicy 7 (I love spice, but I’m glad I didn’t order the 10). It has great flavor, and the fish is bountiful and delicious. You can read my full review with photos at http://sprungonfood.com/2014/06/12/han-dynasty/

I go here when I visit my Dad. Love the salt and pepper shrimp. It is litely fried and delicious. The spice levels go from 1-10. The wonton in chili oil is yummy. Remember chili oil is spicy.

Great food and the portion sizes are great! Price is good too! We had three appetizers and two entrees and one drink and it was all under $50.00 + tip. Service as also fast and friendly. I would recommend if you are in the area.

Absolutely awful, they want you to eat and leave, they actually asked us if we were finished when we were halfway through our food. Ordered at 6PM, asked at 6.15, said they needed a table!!! Appetisers of hot oil wantons and scallion pancakes were good, rest of the meal, beef, chicken dishes, were awful. I noticed there were no Chinese clientele , always an indictor of bad food. Will never go back.

I tried this Chinese restaurant after reading the reviews which were a mixed bag of complaints and raves. I decided to do takeout since i am not a fan of crowded loud restaurants and i think that was a wise choice. When i called in the order it was crazy busy but there was no problem ordering except that i had to leave my full credit info with the harried woman which was slightly unnerving. I’m not a huge fan of spicy food, but I’m willing to give it a try sometimes. So i ordered the chili oil wontons which were exceptional, the lamb with cumin which was also very good, the wonton soup was so bland it was almost tasteless and the dandan noodles were interesting but tasted a lot like spaghetti with minced pork and a mild hint of peanut. I can see why it is popular with the younger and more spice driven crowd. I have had much worse Chinese food in my life and definitely would rate it above your average take out joint. Whether ill go back, that remains to be seen.

This was not a restaurant on our list of places to go to in New York. We just dropped in for some Chinese food, on an off night when we wanted something regular, after eating at all those fancy places. OMG! we were blown away by the food here. It was amazing. We loved the dry pepper style chicken the most, but everything on their menu was really amazing. The service was efficient, and it was so good we ate here twice on our trip to New York.

I went to this restaurant a 3/4 times and without fail, I had excellent food there all the time. The restaurant sits about 40 people and has a bar counter that sits about 6. I went there last night at about 7 pm on Saturday. The restaurant does not take reservations. It takes reservations for 8 plus people. There is usually a maître d' with ipad and sits people. you can give your name and be outside and they will call you. The restaurant waiting area is usually crowded. Luckily for us, a seat for two was available and we were seated immediately. We had as appetizer: Sichuan Pickled Vegetables (5) The mark 5 is in red in the menu and indicates hotness on a scale to 10. The vegetables were carrots, daikon and celery. Doesn't sound much but the pickling was excellent. As entrees: we had : Cumin-crusted and stir fried with bell peppers, dry peppers, and onions Tofu This tofu dish had a hotness rating of 7 but was definitely edible and enjoyable. The other one was: Pea Leaves w/ Garlic With hotness rating zero. This was also excellent with correct flavors and doneness. We also had two beers. The check was about 63 dollars with tip. The restaurant's noise level is quite high but I will go there again and again.

My daughter was a young professional working in the city (until relocating to Seattle late last year). Our NYC area friends who are our age were interested in the restaurant picks of her and her friends. One of her fave picks was the Dan Dan Noodles at this restaurant, and truly they were amazing. It’s just an anonymous little noodle place, but I’m writing this review specifically so that I remember it for every future trip to NYC.

Their pickled vegetable soul is excellent. We had the dumplings in chili oil wich were great too and the beef in dry pot was to die for, extra hot and spicy, as it should be. The Restaurant itself is easy going and simple, The staff is attentive and nice, what they lack in experience they makeup in willingness. Looks like they are applying for an alcohol license, since none is offered in the menu. The fried rice was average. We will definetly come back

After having read rave review in NY magazine had to try this. We had to get food to go and eat in the car so choices were limited. I had cold sesame noodles ($6.95) which did not have a "heat" rating. I am not a fan of anything "hot." Noodles were divine but did have a slight heat which was not immediately detectable - kind of an after burn but not uncomfortable. Definitely strong garlic flavor. My son tried them and we think they are the best sesame noodles we've ever had. Also split order of spring rolls (2 for $3.50) which were tasty, not overly greasy, with light filling contents. He had the dan-dan noodles which had a heat rating of 6. He started eating the noodles and said heat level was fine and he could go "hotter" but then the after burn caught up with him and he had to take a noodle break. He pronounced the noodles "good." We are going to go again when we have time to dine in and sample more of the menu.

My friend and I caught a meal here before attending a show at the Public Theatre. We had the wonton soup (average), garlic sauce shrimp (good), and bean sauce chicken (average). Dishes were filling but not memorable. What makes the place unreturnable is the four alarm noise within. Impossible to have a conversation when the restaurant fills up.

Back in New York for the 2nd time this year, but for business this time and my coworkers took me to this gem of a hole in the wall restaurant. Everything about this place was great. I like the music, divey atmosphere and the WORLD CLASS FOOD. Also, it was an experience and almost a show, to watch a word class manager work the floor, like the one at this restaurant. This gentleman was a bit on the heavy side, but moved like a ballerina around the tiny dining room. I really recommend trying the crispy beef aka dry fry beef and the dry pepper chicken.

After waiting considerably longer than the hostess had indicated, we were seated. The place is a little cramped, but the server and staff really hustle. The food came out very quickly and was very good.

Oh my God— the dumplings. Amazing! We chanced upon this restaurant near NYU and saw the awards in the front window. Sweet Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and even Moses for good measure. When can I go back??!!!

The food was great, one of the best Chinese food I had in NYC. Ordered the black bean chicken which was served with white rice. Enough for 1. Food was also well priced. Was following COVID protocols as tables were spaced out and servers were wearing masks. Good Service, server straight guided me to my table as I entered and gave me the menu. Also made sure my glass of water was never empty. Great ambiance and really sweet staff. Made their guests feel really welcome. I recommend it.

The portions are fairly sized. We had the fried dumplings (6 pieces), lamb with garlic sauce (white rice included), and beef fried rice without peas. We ended up bringing some of the food home with us. We really had to force ourselves to stop eating- it was that addictive. Downsides: waited 20 minutes for a table, wait staff seemed overwhelmed so it was hard to get service and our check, but one of the bus boys was on his A game; their fried rice was a little salty, and they don't chill their soda so you end up melting your ice cubes and having lukewarm watery soda, and they don't automatically serve you tea. Will definitely return, just not during peak dinner hours.

I am currently working for a delivery courier and had an order to pick up at this location. I requested to use the restroom and was denied access as they claim to have a policy that does not allow couriers to use the restroom because we are not customers and are not making them money. I was treated like an animal and was humiliated by the server who was rude and arrogant. I believe this is inhumane as we are representing the customer. This should be looked into as they claim to offer delivery services through couriers. I would not recommend this place to anyone as people should not be treated this way. It is inhumane to treat people this way, especially the ones that are bringing in money to a business. Shame on you for having such a grousome policy. Boycott Han Dynasty. They have no consideration and should not be open for business.

My friend and I sat at the bar, since there was a lot of waiting for an actual table. Never regreted the decision, the guy behing the bar was super nice and attentive even though he was swamped with orders to deliver and pick up!! As for the food: the pork belly, dan dan noodles, dumplings and veggie spring rolls... Everything tasted fresh, delicious and spicy. the best chinese I've had in my life. Definitely will come back for more!!!

We went here for a late dinner (~10 PM) since this was one of the good Chinese places open at that time according to Yelp-- the ratings did not disappoint! The food was delicious (try the Pork Belly in Garlic Sauce and the Braised Beef Noodle-- beef was unbelievably tender) but it can get loud at that time because it's a restaurant/bar. The vibe is definitely for a younger crowd at 10pm on a Friday but food is worth it!

We went for dinner. It was packed so the service was rushed. We had pickled cucumber, Dan Dan noodles, chicken wings and some beef main dish. Everything was awesome. It's quite spicy.

Taken here by a family friend on our first visit to NY. Was rammed with locals when we arrived and if I had been solo I would probably not have waited for a table (no booking is possible) as it didn't look anything special. That would have been a total mistake. Really good value, quick service, great food and excellent buzzing atmosphere.

I enjoyed that none of the dishes at our table were overly sweet, but they were incredibly salty. The waitstaff was fast, kind, and efficient. Water was always filled quickly, which was great with the spicy food. Good experience overall.

Been going here for many years. Some of the best Szechuan meals even in relation to Chinatown. Amazing hot Spicy wings and a spicy beef broth with noodles soup are a must. Fun NYU crowd and great service and beers.

This review is for the new branch of Han Dynasty at 215W 85th Street, NY, NY 10024. The dinning room is very large. It is tastefully decorated in the Chinese style. Service was very good. We ordered four different enters and 3 different appetizers. All the dishes were very good and we enjoyed the very much. I highly recommend this restaurant to people who like to eat somewhat spicy Chinese food. Service was very good and the place including the wash room were clean.

It is a wonderful restaurant, with great food and service, prices are excellent, Dan Dan Noodles are great, Crispy Rice Style with Chicken is delicious.

The food is absolutely delicious. Some dishes are very hot and some are just spicy enough. Smaller than your usual chinese restaurant but very rich is taste. Service can be slow when busy. Visited 2x and was very happy with the food. If you are tired of nasty chinese food but love chinese food try this place !

Han Dynasty on 3rd Ave is a great Sichuan restaurant in NYC Good and spicy and fast and efficient wait staff. Food is excellent and very good value

I have eaten here many times and have always loved it.But this time was really bad and since the manager didnt bother to come by the table, this is my only opportunity to talk to him. We odered 3 dishes : Dan Dan Noodles fried rice dry pot style beef They screwwed up all 3 dishes. Dan Dan Noodles are my favorite ,I eat them everytime I come here. This time the noodles were way overcooked and had the consistancy of mush. the waiter told me ,"well thats the way we prepare them"-no it isnt i have had them many times and they were always wonderful! I asked them to fry the fried rice in soy sauce, the waiter repeated it back to me ,rice was not fried in soy sauce! The dry pot style beef is made spicy (10) I asked to make it mild and it is on the receipt mild ,it was full strength spicy(10) Screwing up the entire order is bad enough, having the waiter tell me thats how its supposed to be is insulting and the manager not bothering to come by shows they dont care!

I go in off hours as it is very busy at night.I love the Dan Dan noodles and the Hot Wontons in oil.Prices are reasonable and service is good

Han dynasty serves some of the most authentic Chinese food served in an amazing fashion. Every time I go here I end up just ordering starters after starters because they are so good. The chicken wings are out of the world.

What a wonderful surprise. This property does not take bookings, the check in process is a little all over the shop, the manager who controls the bookings is a little eccentric and not always in control but once you get a seat that all changes. Exceptional wait staff, and the food. Excellent just does not cover it, you want a break from the expensive and so so? This is the place to go!

This was my third visit to this restaurant and I have loved it every time. This time I was really hungry so enjoyed it even more. It wasn’t crowded as we went for lunch. We had the Dan dan noodles, beans with pork, garlic chicken, Kung Pao prawns and the beef with shallots. Each dish was fantastic. The service was good.

We got there on a Friday night at a busy time but we were seated within 15 minutes. The place is small and loud but the service was quick, the food was very tasty and the portions were generous. The price was very reasonable. I recommend it if you are in the market for some good Chinese food.

Very flavorful food. Definitely spicy so beware of that, but for someone like me who loves spicy, it was on point. Service was quick and attentive. Great location as well. Also very affordable considering it's Manhattan.

Its very casual, they don't take reservations but it is worth the wait! The food is rated by 1-10 for spicy. Believe them,I love spicy and I couldn't go above 7. We had cumin lamb, dan dan noodles, spicy wings, fried rice, and crispy beef . All were excellent.

Solid Szechuan served here - generous portions and great value. Had spicy cucumbers, scallions pancake, Dan Dan noodles, mapo and green beans all for $60. Fed a group of 4. The spice isn’t overbearing but i enjoy Szechuan food. We had a wait so a reservation is a good idea. We showed up without a res and had 45 min wait at 830 on Saturday night. There’s a dive next door if you need a drink while waiting for your table. Would a happily return when in the neighborhood.

Went during lunch time with no wait, yay! They have lunch specials on the back of the menu with limited options, smaller portions, and cheaper prices. My friend and I ordered 3 dishes, the highly raved, dan dan noodles, double cooked style chicken, and triple fried pork. The dan dan noodles were sweet with lots of peanut flavor. The only main component missing was the "spiciness." Wasn't spicy at all! The double cooked style chicken was OK. Chicken was thin, flat pieces and good but that was all it was! The triple fried pork was a dish with small shriveled friedness. The pieces were so small and deep fried, you would forget there was meat in it. It was like really really deep fried noodles. Overall, the dishes were solid but I didn't find anything Szechuan about this Chinese restaurant. The usual Szechuan restaurants I go to have a sea of hot red oil everywhere, on almost every single dish. Dishes are actually tangly spicy. Han Dynasty had too many traditional Chinese dishes like three cup chicken that weren't necessarily Szechuan style and for this big reason, I have to knock a star. They seemed to try to please the East Villager's taste in Chinese food rather giving them the real stuff. Any way, if you want good Chinese food, this is definitely a good addition to the neighborhood.

Following the good reviews I used trip advisor to identify a well rated Chinese restaurant to go to. And we are happy that we gave Han Dynasty a try. It was worth it. The food was delicious, we shared amongst 4 various dishes and all was excellent. Dumpling soup, fried and steamed dumplings, spring rolls (maybe least interesting), and 3 different entrees. Pork, beef and chicken. We will definitely come back!

Went to Han Dynasty in Philadelphia first and found it an innovative restaurant where you can choose your own ingredients and spicy level. As a Chinese, I also found it quite authentic Chinese food. The restaurant is ran by a Taiwanese family and the NYC branch was run by the younger brother in the family.

Came here with 12 people and got the opportunity to try their tasting menu. Never knew a chinese restaurant would have a tasting menu but boy was the food good. Overall, I would recommend this place and come back here again. Now for their faults and accomplishments. For hot appetizers, we had the wontons and dumplings in chili oil, taiwanese sausage, and dry pepper chicken wings. The wonton and dumpling skins were thin and cooked properly. I did however have a friend who had undercooked wonton skin. Despite hearing that, I can't fault them for it because I didn't taste it. I thought the meat proportion to skin were just about right. he chili oil really elevated the dish and it wasn't spicy at all, despite the menu saying (6) and (4). I do have to say that the dry pepper chicken wings were awesome but you can't eat this dish everyday. The wings were extremely fatty and the skin heavily fried. The wings were so fatty that I thought there was curry on the meat, under the skin because under the lighting we were in, the meat looked a little yellow. Oh yes, this dish was salty. ALL their fried stuff are really oily and salty. For cold appetizers, we had the spicy crispy cucumber and I think beef & tripe in chili oil, and beef tendons in chili oil. As for the cucumber, we make a version of this at home and we add garlic to it. Of course I'm biased but I think the one we make is better. Their is a little too sweet for me. It is very flavorful and quite authentic in my opinion. The beef& tripe and beef tedons were delicious as well. A little on the fatty side but that's just how it is. There is also a nice sear on the meat. We also had the dan dan noodles. These were really good. Big enough portion and enough meat in it. The chili was spicy enough and it was a little sweet. The noodles here is definitely better than Spice & Tasty in Flushing. The sauce isn't that authentic as they changed it a little but it is very flavorful and delicious to eat. As for entrees, I'm not sure exactly what we had because I was across the table and could not hear their mumble when they brought the dish over. Typical chinese restaurant where they just mumble the dishes name, drop the food off, and leave. I'm sure had the dry pepper style, hot sauce style, dry fry style, double cooked style, and black bean style. All these dishes had beef, or pork. I don't remember eating any chicken except for the fried wings. In general, all the dishes were flavorful and tasty. However, you can tell that they use a lot of meat tenderizer, salt, and oil. We also had some vegetables, eggplant with garlic sauce and bak choy with mushrooms. Some people at the table didn't like the eggplant but I thought it was excellent. Some were more al dente and some were softer. They had the nice purple coloring to it still, so it wasn't overcooked. However, I did think that the dish could have used more spice. The taiwanese sausage wasn't bad at all. Can't really go wrong with these since I assume that they were store bought. They were relatively thinly sliced and it did have enough fat in it. It wasn't dry at all. I suggest they modify the dish and incorporate some spices on it to really elevate the dish as opposed to serving something i can easily do at home. I would highly recommend this place and would come here again. Despite my disgust in using too much oil and salt, I think this is what Szechuan is. As of now, this is my favorite place for this type of food. It is on the expensive side. If they made it $2-$3 cheaper it would be a better bargain.

This was a restaurant we had wanted to try based on the reviews and we found ourselves in the neighborhood twice in one week. We had two dinners and each was excellent. These are authentic flavors of Sichuan, although they seemed somewhat tamed for American tastes (We spent five days in Chengdu last year and know the taste of Sichuan peppercorns (ma la) and chilies well and enjoy spicy foods.) The menu is not, as most Chinese menus are, designed by category of protein (chicken, pork, beef, etc.). Instead the dishes are listed by cooking style, with a choice of proteins at different prices for each one. Each spicy dish comes with a number in red indicating the degree of heat (and staff ask if you are sure you know what you're ordering. "That is very spicy. IS that okay?") We had the number 10, dry pot style beef and enjoyed it immensely, The taste of the Sichuan peppercorns and the chilles were both clear along with the veggies and beef, but I don't believe it would have rated a ten in China. Their specialty Dan Dan Noodles (a 6) were a very impressive version of this dish. I can also recommend the non-spicy Wonton in Chicken Broth both for the light wontons and the smoky broth. Service is prompt, courteous and fast. The restaurant is small, gets crowded and noisy and except at slow times would not be the place to linger and talk over tea. We are looking forward to our next opportunity to dine there.

I can't remember exactly what we ate (it was several weeks ago), but this was certainly the best Chinese meal I've ever had. Rich flavours, innovative combinations, prompt and attentive service, and lots of free green tea. A wee bit squashed, but I guess they want as many people as possible to eat their gorgeous food!

Terrible... nothing authentic about this place. It's good for people who DO NOT understand Sichuan food. The spicy cucumber was disgusting, tasteless with loads of sugar and not spicy at all. I have never tasted such an awful cucumber dish in any other Sichuan restaurants in the world. It's so easy to make. Don't know how they can mess it up like this. The Mung bean noodle was so over cooked that it just disintegrate, also tasteless. Dry pepper chicken was just deep fried chicken nuggets with some chilies. The decent dishes were pickled vegetable fish soup and the string beans. the pancakes were ok. The service was also terrible. We sat at bar and the bartender who was also the waiter was just so rude and ignored us. We waited for quite a long time for any order or even to get a drink or change a dirty plate. Not a smile and grumpy. Very disappointing experience 😩

Visiting family in NYC and in the mood for Chinese food. After some restaurant review data collection, my son suggests Han Dynasty. When we first sat down we were pained by an excessively noisy group of young girls celebrating a birthday party. Parents at at a table nearby and essentially did nothing to contain the disruptive shrieking. Honestly, we couldn't hear each other speak across the table. We asked to move, but there wasn't another spot available and, in truth, we still would have heard them. These kids were out of control. We actually considered leaving, however, our server who couldn't hear us trying to order brought this to the attention of the manager, who spoke with these kids and the parents several times to bring them under control. The parents thanked the manager for speaking with the kids. Honestly??? How about parents taking charge of unruly kids and showing a bit of respect for fellow patrons? Just saying.... That aside, we stayed and we all felt this place was over-the-top outstanding! We were extremely fortunate in having our server, Carlos, who was phenomenal assist us greatly in providing delicious recommendations and being honest in warning us about the large portion sizes! We started off some amazing appetizers. Carlos suggested the Dan Dan noodles. What a hit! I went for the spicy crispy cucumber, what a delicious contrast in taste. Cold cucumbers in a spicy sauce - outstanding! They shared the steamed dumplings and spoke highly of them as well. For entrees, my daughter-in-law and I split the garlic shrimp, which was THE BEST we have ever had. I sampled my husband's garlic pork and it, too, was sensational. The pork could not have been more tender. My son had the chicken crispy rice; it was not at all what he expected and yet another fabulous choice. The sauces made our taste buds dance with delight! This place originated in Philly and I was thrilled to learn that they may bring their corporate headquarters to Boston! They are spreading to California, too. Don't miss this one!

The short wait was worth it! Dan-Dan noodles to start, then crispy beef, Szechuan green beans and, unusually, Warbar Crispy Rice with tomato and prawns (very Cantonese, but great). Terrific value. Very popular so it can be jammed.

We visited Han Dynasty located at 215 W 85th Street and we immediately liked the place. The decor was original and noteworthy, not yer typical "plastic flowers and stained wallpaper" asian restaurant. Service was friendly enough and helpful too. We chose the Pork belly in garlic sauce and our waiter suggested the infamous dan dan noodles. Both dishes were spicy, tasty and leaving you wanting more. I recommend Han Dynasty w/o hesitation.

We needed to get an early dinner prior to seeing a movie. We had heard about this place from friends and decided to try it since the movie theater was close by. I had read to try the dan dan noodles and we also ordered chicken with black bean sauce and chicken fried dumplings. All the food came out so quickly and was pretty tasty. The menu is not your traditional Chinese menu but it looks like everything looked pretty delicious.

We've been twice, ordered different dishes each time, and loved them all. We also tried delivery and, unfortunately, the order was problematic on every level -- including the food. To solve that pesky problem is easy, though: dine only at the restaurant itself & skip delivery all together. They don't take reservations so depending on time you arrive, you may face a wait. But If you're going to be in Gramercy or the East Village, it's a worthwhile place for a spicy tasty Chinese meal.

Starters were awful Service was terrible Waited over an hour for a table wish I never bothered No allergy information on menu My main which was dry pepper chicken was actually really nice though. My partners was nasty. It was three rice cakes with some random sauce and a side of rice in a bowl. Awful. Don't bother coming here, staff are not the best. I learnt how to eat with chop sticks. Actually, I had no choice.

Me and my girlfriend spent our first night in New York here after reading a good review ( we are on holiday from Ireland). A table of extremely drunk young people where screaming and shouting to the point my ears rang. No body from the establishment attempted to ask them to be quiet or leave. When the food came out it was cheap, salty cuts of disgusting meat in a sugar filled sauce of crap and the chicken wings where just covered in chilli pieces on a bed of iceberg lettuce. Eating this while the lads party was going on and increasing in volume stressed us out. Eventually they left, my partner said something to drunk idiots and I could hear a few people begin to complain. This was the very first experience we had in America let alone New York and to be honest I can’t wait to leave. In Ireland we give everyone a chance and try to be respectful and polite so if this is what New York is about im truly devastated... oh yeah and the bill came out at about 60 dollars. We then got a slice of 3 dollar pizza down the road. Shut this hole of a restaurant down.

A family member suggested I check out this restaurant. The dan dan mien (noodles) were as good, or even beter than expected! Also ordered pea shoot sprouts, which were great too, but honestly they're hard to screw up. When I saw they had 3 cup chicken on the menu, I couldn't resist ordering that too. But... that last dish turned out to be a total let down. Basically no depth of flavor, seems like the chef just threw some basil and sweet soy sause on boneless chicken and called it a day. My girlfriend and I couldn't stomach more than a few bites of it. I complained to our waiter, and he looked at the dish funny, and even started to mix it around with a fork, and agreed it looked a bit odd. He admitted the head chef was off today, and that its a complicated dish. The dish was taken off our bill, and he apologized. I wish I could rate this review higher due to the awesome customer service, but I really had to rate the overall experience, which had to include of course how the food tasted. Please take my advice in the topic of this review!

This mini chain based in Pennsylvania has arrived in the East Village. It serves wonderfully spicy Chinese food with many choices not only of dishes but of degree of spiciness. Some say the food is not authentic. Whatever. It is delicious and that counts

Wanted to find a ma-la (numbing-spicy) flavored Sichuan cuisine and this was perfect. I had the beef dry pot style and my son had the pork hot sauce style. Both outstanding. In addition to the ingredients on the menu, there were lotus fruit slices, fresh bamboo, and yellow peas (whole pods). Ordered them 6 on scale of 10 for hotness and it was just right. Will return again. It is a sort of hole in the wall place but was just right food wise.

This was not necessarily a disappointing meal, but I felt it lacked a certain Chinese flavor. The quality of the food and ingredients was high and the food was fresh, but it didn't strike us as genuine Chinese cuisine. So, a bit blah feeling in retrospect. The restaurant itself is very attractive, modern and clean. Overall, a sanitized atmosphere and the same goes for the food. Sesame Noodles were particularly bogus, with a lot of peanut butter in them.

After a very long time we finally decided to go to a Chinese restaurant that was not a typical Indian Hakka joint. So braving what was severe cold for a man from tropics, we walked from Union Square to this wonderful restaurant that serves authentic Sichuan cuisine. Did not have to wait at all for a table as we we were there quite early for supper. Service was excellent. The seating is a bit crowded but then this is New York. Food was amazing- we ordered Dan Dan Vegetarian Noodles and Cumin Beef. Both were freshly prepared, made with quality ingredients and were delectable. I would definitely return whenever I'm again in New York.

This place has become popular, so I tend to eat there at lunchtime, which also means delicious AND affordable lunch specials. I've enjoyed everything I've tried, including their superior eggplant, stringbean, and other vegetable dishes. I've become addicted to their salt and pepper shrimp, but am trying other dishes as well, thanks to the guidance of their friendly manager. It also helps that numbers indicate the heat level of the dishes. There are many choices for those who don't like the heat as well. I've taken several friends there and all of them have enjoyed it.

There are several Han Dynasty locations. This is the second one that I have been to, with the first being outside Philadelphia. The menus are about the same. The quality of the food is excellent. The service is good but they always seem understaffed. If you are around Union Square and have a craving for excellent Chinese food, this is the place to go.

Friday night, got there early, so brief wait for a table for 4. Delicious cocktails- both nonalcoholic and regular, brief but nice wine list. So far so good. Every dish we ordered and shared was excellent. Noise level started rising as the place filled up, but still we were having a good time and ready to order another round of drinks, some tea and dessert. Instead, waitress abruptly cleared the table and deposited the bill on it. maitre d’ then came over to politely explain there was a long line waiting for tables. We left and had dessert elsewhere, and that unpleasant end to an otherwise good meal means we won’t be returning. Who needs that crap?

Excellent Chinese food on 3rd Avenue ... succulent and tastebud tingling plainly decorated Chinese restaurant ... enough choices to go again and again ...

I love love love Han. Been coming here for over 3 years when I lived in Philly. Double cooked fish, dan dan, and pea shoots! One of my favorite meals ever!

Such a great experience with great food if you don't mind the loud atmosphere which we didn't. There are so many choices and beware that the food is very spicy. Yum!

We waited around 40 minutes to get the table. Dan Dan Noodle and Chicken with Spicy Oil were two best dishes we ordered among 5 dishes we ordered. Dried hot pot dish was so so as most of vegetable inside was onion but the taste was very authentic. I would definitely go back again.

Han Dynasty is a casual dining Sichuan Chinese restaurant right near NYU in the East Village. It is often filled with Asian students who live in dorms around this area. There are about 3 locations in Manhattan. The original is in Philly. We like the Dan Dan noodles, the wonton soup, veggie spring rolls, veggie fried rice, among others. Service is casual at best. More indifferent. Open lunch and dinner.

The web site says they only take reservations for s party of 8 or more. We turned up expecting a wait (which would have been on) only to be told "sorry, but we are booked out tonight". Seems some people can book and others can't. Terrible service and I won't try again.

I recently visited Han Dynasty after dining at Cafe China – both restaurants that had seemingly exploded onto (or pioneered?) the New York Sichuan scene. I absolutely loved Cafe China and found it hard to fathom that I another Sichuan restaurant could compare but had to try Han Dynasty since it was being hailed by many of my peers and colleagues as the “best”. It was definitely excellent. The Wontons in Chili Oil are tasty and not as hot and spicy as they look. The smell from the Cumin Style Pork was thick in the air and permeated the restaurant but the dish tasted way better than it smelled - though it was on the border of "too spicy" for me. The Dry Fry Style beef was an excellent combination of flavors and crispy beef that was milder than the Cumin Pork. Since I tried different dishes from Cafe China, it was a bit hard to compare the two but Han Dynasty definitely took home the award for spiciest. For which restaurant was better, the verdict is still out since they are both excellent. More at stormypeach.com/han-dynasty-nyc/

This location only has been open for about two months. Two words describes it: Unbelievably Exquisite! Wonderful modern-day takes on traditional dishes, all entrees geared to the level of spiciness in each and more unusual flavors than any Chinese restaurant in recent memory. Everything we tried was excellent and it was very nice to see so many Chinese people there enjoying the cuisine. For us, this always is an indication of quality fare.

Han Dynasty was amazing. Went there twice on my short trip to the city! It will be hard to eat Chinese food back at home. The king pao chicken, dumplings and dan dan noodles were delicious!

This is not your typical Chinese restaurant in New York. Han Dynasty is a Szechuan chain, which has several branches in the Philadelphia region. There are two in Manhattan, but I have only been to the one in the East Village. The restaurant does not take reservations, and to avoid lengthy waits, I have tried to go off peak hours, and have always managed to be seated right away. But it would be worth the wait anyway. The menu is arranged by style of cooking, and has a heat index in brackets (with 10 being the hottest). For those with spicy hot palates, the dry pot style, dry pepper style, hot sauce style and cumin style will probably be the best fits. My friends and I had the wontons in chilli oil, dry pepper chicken, cumin lamb, and the dan dan noodles, all of which were delicious and left us sizzling! As is the case with most restaurants in New York, lunch at Han Dynasty is a very good deal.

Nice atmosphere, a bit loud.... But the food was amazing. The pork fried rice is literally the best I have ever had! Don't skip it. Also had the fried dumplings & chicken in garlic sauce. My friend & I shared all of this and it was more than enough.

After traveling to China, I was on a search to find a restaurant that served authentic Sichuan food like I had in Chengdu. Well, this is the first place I have found since then. I had the Dan Dan Noodles (hot, spicy, delicious), the dumplings in chili oil (less hot, moist, amazing) and the green beans with minced pork (fresh, crunchy, tasty). I was transported back to those meals in Chengdu where you need endless water to deal with the heat and you love it. the service was great. The environment is a little nicer than a usual Chinese place. If I lived in NYC, I would be there every week.

Had a delicious lunch here today. House special fried rice, Kung Pao chicken, Hot sauce beef, and Wonton in chicken broth soup. Service was friendly. Atmosphere bustling busy. Will return. Highly recommend.

We stumbled on Han Dynasty while walking through the East Village section of New York. The space is cramped, but worth it!!! People were lined out the door trying to get in, and it didn't take long to figure out why. The service was excellent, and if you want a cozy table for two in a quaint and authentic setting, this place is for you. We had the dumpling with chili sauce appetizer and they were top-notch. I had the Kung-Pao chicken and my wife had the Dry Pepper chicken - both arrived quickly and were very tasty. They also bring hot tea to the table first thing and we finished the entire pot. Worth the walk. Worth the cab fare. Worth the bus or subway fare.

Han Dynasty offers excellent Sichuan food. It is always busy with usually a wait for dinner, but well worth it. We dined at both the 3rd Avenue and 85 Street locations and both were great. This is a must visit restaurant whenever I am in NYC.

the food is not bad, but it is very very spicy. they grade how spicy it is with numbers, but even the ¨medium¨ can be too much The service is very good, cannot complain about the size or quality of the food

Been here twice recently with my family and enjoyed the food immensely. No dish was disappointing. Different from most typical Chinese restaurants. While the ambience is basic, the food is anything but. Spicy meat and fish dishes balanced by lightly cooked vegetables. Favorite items are the Dan Dan noodles, dumplings in spicy sauce, dry pepper cooked fish, the cumin lamb, bokchoy with broccoli

We will be returning. Very busy here, but I’m assuming that’s down to the brilliant food. We ordered three dishes between two of us.. portions are huge. So maybe next time just order two. We ordered: kung poa style chicken, crispy rice style chicken and beef noodles. 100% worth a visit.

I must start with a qualifier. My wife's nephew is a manager here. With that out of the way... A big fancy space for a Chinese restaurant. I do not know which restaurant was here before but this is a very nice space. Double high ceilings and cool woodwork on the walls. This is nice, but if you do not like the food it does not help. As the old commercials for the Horn & Hardart automat/cafeteria used to say "You can't eat atmosphere" We decorate you on the inside. This place has the good food to back it up. At 4:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday, 2 cars and a minivan found metered parking right in front! I have not spent a lot of time on the Upper West Side in a while but that was like pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to start. Like the Seinfeld dream spot for 3 vehicles. There is a host station as you enter and you will be charmingly greeted. We were a party of 12 including 3 kids and were seated in the back at a round table with a turntable in the middle for passing food around. A great system, what goes around comes around. OK. Now lets get to the food. From my experience at the old town Philadelphia and Cherry Hill NJ locations my must haves are Dandan noodles, and MaPo Tofu. These are unmatched in not only flavor, which compels you to keep eating when you know you should stop, but the texture that just rings a chord in your senses telling you that this is what a food experience should be. A really big selection for beers and wines. I had a dark porter that was syrupy and a trace chocolaty malty deep flavored, like drinking pumpernickel. My first sips gave me a slight buzz. They made a milder and meatless Dandan for the kids and the less adventurous or non spice minded. There were also super cold sesame noodles and a nice hot (temperature) Lo mein. The spicy crispy cucumber was a hit with all. Even the kids liked it. Scallion pancakes (mild), fried dumplings and spring rolls kept the kids very happy. A real highlight was the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. A very lightly coated large fried shrimp. Totally non greasy and light with some very finely shredded veggies. The freshness and texture of the shrimp were perfectly set up by the veggies. Double cooked fish was really good too as was the 3 cup chicken. For what it is worth there was nothing not to recommend, just calibrate to your spice preference. That is all I remember, I should have taken notes but is was a family visit with people coming from different country's and cities so the focus (for them) was on the visit. I live an hour and a half away and will be returning. this place is great!

We read about this restaurant and it was worthy to try it; Food is delicious, fresh and good service, The scallion pancakes, Dan Dan Noodles and Dry Pot Style nice and spicy, prices are good, So if you are in the city just go.

I stopped by Han Dynasty recently just for a quick bite - it wasn't meant to be a full lunch, but more something to tide me over until dinner. That said, I didn't order a lot (I only ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and Ma Po Tofu). However, what I ordered was really outstanding. I felt like the flavors were very authentic for an Asian restaurant. I am not a big meat eater and am not the biggest fan of pork (although I recognize that a lot of Asian restaurants use pork as their meat of choice). So even though the noodle dish didn't include a lot of pork, that was the perfect amount for me. It added just the right amount of flavor. I felt like the tofu was really flavorful. The service was very fast and I felt they were pretty friendly, especially since there were a number of other people in the restaurant while I was there. I would return for another trip.

I had great hopes for the opening of their place in the upper west side as I had read about their restaurant. When I visited last Sunday there were only two occupied tables. The waiters were indifferent bunched together at the end of the room. The Dan Dan noodles were the same as those of any other place, the pan fried dumplings were very good while the crispy rice with chicken was an unpleasant glop of thick brown sauce. The string beans were delivered after the bill arrived. I would not return and I suspect the place will not survive.

This restaurant is truly amazing. Tried Dan dan noodles, triple pepper entree w tofu, and eggplant in garlic sauce. Good Beers, Great place. We will go back.

Great Szechuan. Delicate sauces. Decent size portions. The location is just east of Broadway on 85 St. so you have to look for this newcomer to the west side. I've had the chicken lo mein and the ginger duck. Both great. Will return to try other dishes. Great space too where tables are not on top of each other and you can actually talk to your dinner companion. A winner and very welcome in a neighborhood where good Chinese is hard to find.

The only complaint is restaurant is noisy. The food is amazing. From hot pot to wontons, battered shrimp that was lightly breaded. This was one of the most amazing Chinese dinners I have ever had.

A very popular, small Chinese restaurant. It's always packed at lunch. The food is good. It's spicy in a good way, full of flavors. I had a Kung-pao tofu and it was delicious. The lunch specials are a great deal. Service is brisk and efficient, but not overly friendly. Great, inexpensive lunch stop.

We met up with a friend on Saturday Night! Han Dynasty was PACKED OUT. They only take reservations if you have 8 or more people. We got lucky and were able to get 3 seats at the bar next to each other so we just ordered at the bar. The food was delicious, the dan dan noodles were spicy but amazing. Would definitely recommend for reasonably priced asian food. Lots and lots of food delivery services going in and out so lots of people were ordering from home and having it delivered.

we enjoyed a few Tsintao Chinese beers at the bar whilst waiting for a table at this bustling popular east village Chinese hot spot. greeted by friendly staff, from the maitre de, to the waiters, barman, all warm, friendly, and professional. we had kung Pao style chicken, Cumin style lamb, special fried rice, bok choy with mushrooms, spicy hot pot, washed down with a few Tsingtao beers, a Forbidden Kingdom cocktail, and a Delirium Tremens, Belgium beer.... great bustling atmosphere, excellent friendly, and efficient service. Danny looked after us, made a few recommendations, food, and beer, and made the night a most enjoyable one. will return. highly recommended.

Four of us visited this restaurant for dinner, looking for good chinese food. We were cautious due to a few concerning reviews, but found them to be absolutely unfounded! Even though the place was packed, we were seated within two minutes. Han Dynasty has a very warm look to it, the employees are very quick and forthcoming and the food is outstanding! The amount of choices is impressive, as all the entrées can be ordered with different kinds of meat or fish. We will definitely be back soon, especially for the Dan Dan noodles.

Han Dynasty is my go to! The Chinese food is excellent, it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good, and value for money is up there. But, the service is ok - the maitre de / hostess during dinner time isn't the friendliest.

I had a hankering for some Asian fare, and stumbled across Han Dynasty (short walk from my hotel). Their claim to fame are their dan dan noodles. I tried them in the restaurant, loved the fiery starchiness of it all. Savory, slightly sweet, and lovely nibbles of minced pork. It was so good, I had to have it again the next day. This time I ordered delivery. Sadly - it wasn't as good the second around. Probably the noodles needed to be tossed in the sauce, it had a kind of metallic taste the 2nd time. I would definitely give them a whirl again, just fresh in the restaurant though!

We were a party of 8. My daughter and son in law recommended Han Dynasty. Our party also consisted of my wife, sister in law. Her son, daughter in law and grandson. We made a reservation and at 7PM when we arrived we found a round table for 8 was set with water and tea. Most of their dishes are spicy which I do not love. The good news is that Han will spice each and every dish from No spice to very spicy. We ordered about 8 main courses with varying degrees of spice. Each and every dish was perfect. We had chicken, shrimp, beef and tofu. The scallion pancakes were delicious and at $4. A real bargain. Their prices are very fair and not one dish was over $20. The service was great. They did not rush us and we were their over 2 hours.

We came back here from London, England having first visited back in May 2019. The food was great as last time and we has 3 good dishes plus a couple of starters. Unfortunately half was through our meal, a group of 18-20 probably students currently graduation arrived. Don’t have any problem with people enjoying themselves but when they have to starting shouting over each other so they could be heard they become excessively noisy and ruin the evening for all the other diners. We boxed up our food and ended up eating it back at our hotel! Not the restaurant’s fault as such but not good to book groups like this.

we try to get by here whenever we are in NYC. If you love spicy food ,this is a must eat! Cheap and casual ,you will love it!

Initially we thought the food was ok, until we paid the bill. It was our first time in NYC and we did not know that we should have given some sort of tip. One of the staff told us off for not tipping in front of other customers which was embarrassing and inappropriate! Despite us explaining clearly that we were from the UK and first time visiting NYC and that we didn't know we had to tip, the staff again had a go at us and was so rude!!!! The place is ok and only a small, family business- whoever that man was needs to approach his customers more friendly and learn some manners if he wants tip of his customers!

The restaurant is spacious and immaculate with very attentive staff. We only got 2 dishes, so I can only write on these. The green beans with minced pork was good, but VERY salty and not much ground pork. We also got the chicken with garlic sauce. The sauce was delicious, but too many onions and not enough chicken. I would come back for either a noodle dish or soup. Those looked great.

We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table right away. The restaurant from the outside does the decor inside no justice, it's lovely. The food was brought out to us really quickly, it was piping hot and tasted beautiful. Such a great wee find.

This place has it all: good food, good service and a comfortable atmosphere. I wandered by here one afternoon and was attracted by the welcoming entrance. It is a large restaurnat with an ambience not often seen in NYC. The rom is large and the tables are not crowded together. There was a comfort that is difficult to describe. Altho I have never been to China, it felt like the restaurant could be in a large city in China. The value for the food was outstanding . The portions were large enough for two in most cases. Highly recommended.

I went there since the Dan Dan noodles were recommended to me. they were a 5 out of 5. the other food was so so. We had the dry pepper chicken which didn't have much chicken and was like eating overcooked fried dough. Garlic string beans were really good as well. Even something with a 10 for the spicy wasn't really that spicy.

Went for lunch with my uncle and boyfriend and have now found my new favorite Chinese spot in the city. Prior to this I hadn't found any quality Chinese in NYC but the food here exceeded my expectations. Everything we shared was delicious!

Han Dynasty is on 3rd between 12th and 13 street. It’s very busy and very noisy. The food is average overall. Service was good. Prices ok.

We were staying in New York for 5 nights. As we were so impressed with the food and fast service the first time we decided to go there twice during our 5 night stay. Definitely worth a visit

I came here with my wife by a friend suggestion and since then we are coming back regularly every time with different group of friends, I really enjoy everything from the menu, last time the tofu was excellent!!

We had to wait for a long time as no reservations unless 8 guests or more, but it was well worth it. Not an extensive menu but the service was friendly, short wait for food, excellent flavours and tastes, and reasonable prices - will be back in the future.

The food we received was absolutely amazing!!! The service was slow and unreliable. The waitress took forever to take our drink and appetizer order then didn't come back to take our entree order until our appetizers were gone. Half of our table got their food 20 minutes before the other half. They did bring us an order of egg rolls for free because of the wait.

We tried the Dan Dan noodles, wontons in chilli oil, wings and cumin beef and everything was delicious. The menu features a lot of really spicy stuff, which we love, but it wouldn't be great for someone who doesn't like a lot of flavour. They were really busy tonight but the staff was still really friendly and efficient. Among the best Chinese food I've ever had.

Han dynasty has some of the best Chinese food I've ever eaten the wonton soup is great as well as the dan dan noodles the servers are really nice they also give you complementary tea it's great to.

Get here a little early for lunch if you can't get a reservation. We got right in just before noon. I wish I had been there with a larger group so I could have sampled more items. Everything I saw looked amazing. I made the mistake of going on the light side and ordered the green beans with minced pork. It was delicious but would have enjoyed more protein. My friend had the salt and pepper shrimp which was delicious. I'll definitely go back.

We made good experience with fresh, spicy and delicious food. In the menu you can see the level of spicy. It's very helpfully. the level 3 is also spicy enough. When you order a meal over the number The waiters could be little be more helpfully.

Stopped by with my sister after a show. Her favorite are the Dan Dan Noodles along with some fried veggies. My Hot Sauce Style chicken was out prompt with lots to share. Be warned: this food is spicy with a slow burn. If you do not like spicy, they do have mild dishes. Main course alone is around $15-$25 (depending on the meat you choose). Their $13 cocktails are worth a round or two!

Split scallion pancakes ($4.95) - a bit on greasy side and not that much flavor with dipping sauce that was also not that flavorful - kind of disappointing. I had cold sesame noodles ($6.95) which were good - but not as great as the take-out I got some time ago where I thought they were the best sesame noodles I had ever tasted. The 3-cup chicken ($14.95) was a large portion served with white rice but unexceptional. Enjoyed the tea. Service was great.

Amazing food, in a nice setting. Was busy when we visited (which was early - it got busier and busier). Good range of vegetarian options.

Ok...so we tried to get into this place a few times and it was just mayhem. I must admit I was little disengaged due to the haphazard organization at the front. The "waiting area" is usually more congested than the GW Bridge under Christie's reign. The bar is not first come, first serve. The door swings open and continuously keeps the cold air in while the warm air escapes. We went early on a Saturday and walked right into seats at the bar. Although a little chilly from the door's constant opening and closing, the food came out and was nothing short of mind-changing. Delicately balanced soup, tart & crisp sesame noodles, spicy Szechuan shrimp. Everything had a purpose, everything combined 10 flavors that seemed like 1 meaningful dish or 1 or 2 meaningful flavors were highlighted in 1 amazing dish. I now understand why the take-out bags never stopped filling up the bar and although I think the setup of the restaurant is still very questionable, I cannot disagree that the food is absolutely the best Chinese in the East Village...perhaps in all of NY.

Really good Szechuan options in a casual setting. Atmosphere does get loud but the food more than makes up for the volume. We loved the numbered spice ratings so ou know what level of hot you're dealing with. Our table shared the excellent Ma Pa Tofu, String Bean, Dumplings in chili sauce and a very generous helping of Cold Sesame Noodles. Great place to meet friends and try new dishes.

Oh my! Where to begin. Spent a few hours shopping around Union Square and needed a quick bite. Read a reco on Han Dynasty and thought why not and boy were we happy we did. My husband and I selected the Dan Dan noodles and fried rice and I am happy to say, both were to die for. They came out fast and the flavors were all there. Absolutely delicious and we ate and ate (portions are family style). I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving a tasty Chinese lunch (or dinner!).
Spicy Chinese Food in East Village
We order from this restaurant frequently. It does not have delivery so you have to go get your orders. We love their wonton soup. The food here is spicy like in parts of China. Quick, inexpensive, and tasty food in a bare bones setting. There is also a location on the Upper West Side. The original is in Philadelphia. Please try if in the 'hood.
