Great for Groups!

By Worldlyknowledge4you |

I enjoyed this place because it has a fun atmosphere, but I do not remember what I ate- which speaks for itself. I would go back for another friend gathering, and just stick to the live music and drinks!

Fresh food, popular local place

By Christa4of4 |

We visited on a Saturday evening, enjoyed the patio seating. Efficient, not rushed service. Nice vibe. Very fresh salad. Custom mac-n-cheese menu so tasty...+ drinks, tip =$50. Would definitely revisit next time in area.

Great Late Night Spot!!

By Ed M |

A great spot in Harlem to catch a late night bite, a beer and catch the game on one of the many big screen TVs situated around the location. They have a great beer selection but the service is suspect. Our waiter seemed bothered that he had to serve myself and my cousin. It was a chore to find him to order anything additional. It wasn't until we were eight glasses in that I guess he realized we would have a nice size bill when he actually started checking in on us, without me having to go look for him.

All About Satya!

By Judene B |

We enjoyed the variety of food on the menu. Gumbo, Tacos, Burgers, Calamari. The Spinach dip needed more Spinach & less salt, but was tasty. It took WAY TOO long to get drinks! Satya made it all better, by the time we left we were in good spirits! We’ll come back!

Nice dinner

By Crossing Portugal |

The place was very nice, includes an outdoor space. Staff was friendly. The food was ok, but not spectacular, we had mac and cheese and tacos.

Very good food

By Helle A |

Very good food, you must not miss to try this restaurant if you go to NYC/Harlem area. Professional staff and a good atmosphere made our evening perfekt

Great location and easy access.

By Redford61 |

We liked the location as it was an easy walking distance from the hotel. There was outdoor seating as well as internal dining. We were a group of ten and served with a quick pace, staff was friendly and efficient, and food was good. Would recommend as it is a fun, comfortable place.

Unexpected Delight

By mapman521 |

I was looking for a late Thursday spot for a quick bite. A search found Harlem Tavern. It was pretty empty, but the kitchen was to close about 30 minutes after I arrived, so.... I had three delicious chicken tacos. I mean really good. Large screen tv’s without sound and a great funky music selection made for a fun time. Would be way more fun when it’s (more) crowded. I’ll be back!

Cool for beer and hamburger

By ANN |

After we get hungry from the chicken neighbours we went here to drink a beer and have some hamburgers. It is more a sports bar. Service is nice and quickly. We stay a short time there but the food was tasty and to take a beer very good.

Good ambiance!

By DLN06 |

Thank you to Joe and Regina for this amazing diner. We had a little thing Of everything. Burgers were absolutely fantastic, and the service is good too. The location on the boulevard offer a nice spot. Crowded place and good ambiance! We'll be back !

Spur of the moment brunch

By Lisa P |

Blujeens was packed, so my mom and I headed over to the Harlem Tavern. The football game was on, so it was incredibly busy and noisy. We opted to sit outside on a lovely, sunny late September afternoon. My mother found the seat uncomfortable, but it was fine for me. What she didn’t care for were the sparrows flitting in and out on the ground. Because there are no table cloths, everything falls through the garden furniture table that is also good for catching charms off your bracelet. We ordered gumbo and chicken and waffles. My mother did not realise her drink did not come with the brunch, so she was mad that the waitress hasn’t pointed it out when she was clearly ordering from the brunch menu. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was good. My small bowl of gumbo arrived with some rice and two corn muffins. It was ok, but didn’t look very gumbo-like to me. The okra was the best thing about it. My mother liked the waffle - large thick one and was enjoying the chicken until she cut into her second piece with her knife to find it red inside. The waitress came over and said a manager would get with us shortly. Twenty minutes later she came over and offered to take the chicken off the bill and we could order something else. We ordered a split sesame honey and buffalo wings. I asked for a drinks menu that never arrived. Ten minutes later I called over our waitress and asked again. I ordered a banana margarita because I’ve never heard of this before. It arrived with an extra shot after we finished the wings, even though ordered before. The bill arrived, and it was $60. We paid and left. It was a very busy Sunday with the game on, but there aren’t enough staff. Glad we tried the place. Won’t be going back.

I crave the beef

By Terrea M |

Their truffle Burger is amazing. I had it a week ago and I'm still thinking about it. They have a $30 Prix fixe menu which includes appetizer, entree, dessert, and drink unfortunately the truffle burger is not on this menu. But come during happy hour and you still have a good bargain. I got this burger, a margarita that had table salt on the rim - table salt is a no no, and sweet potato fries. The fries were light and crispy the drink was meh.

Best Old Fashion

By Wendy B |

Stopped here with friends on a lazy Saturday. Had the best lamb burger and Old Fashion- best combination in the world. Sweet Potato Fries were great also.

Cool place for a drink and brunch

By aquasun25 |

Casual place with a good menu and good drink options. It is good for groups and they have ample outdoor seating, great for summer times. They also have live music.

Taste of Harlem

By RajeshJi21 |

On our last day in New York my son and I decided as we were staying in Harlem what better way to end a wonderful holiday then eat lunch at one of the best restaurants in this great city. We choose lunchtime as we noticed every night the place was fully booked and the queue was long to get in. We had the speciality chicken meal and loved it, can't wait to visit this friendly establishment again soon. Harlem is wonderful and we left with many happy memories!

Come for the scene

By Dylan |

This is not fancy. It is not hip. This is a new addition to Harlem that feels old school. It is a sports bar, with tons of beer on tap. Good food too.

Train your Staff for better service and a decent pour of wine

By Jessie T |

I am a big spender and have resided in the Upper West Side for 24 years. Moved here 3 months ago. My husband and I stopped by the Tavern for lunch. 2 drinks each and just 1 entree between two. The bill for 4 wines (each wine was 4 ounces or less) and cheap quality and a burger was $74. Service was beyond SAD. Kids used this as their play ground and they were screaming. Where did I go wrong ???

Fantastic service

By Rolf S |

I cannot praise this place enough. Great atmosphere (if you like busy football nights!), lovely food and the service was fantastic!

Loud and crowded (mostly in a good way)

By WFSCDGA |

This is a fairly large bar/ restaurant near Harlem. It has lots of both indoor and outdoor seating. This place is often crowded and very loud. Our bartender was very friendly but the service was quite slow. Reservations for dinner are a good idea.

Perfect brunch on weekend

By Ahmedkamal |

The place is perfect for weekend brunch, Live jazz music, grrrrreat french toast they make there, their brnch menu also is very good, prices are not bad, service is good but it takes a while till you can reach for you waitress, don't forget to leave tips. The place has also sports channels to watch if you are a sport fan, I loved it and probably will go bk again.

Exceeded my expectations

By Glowee |

My daughter had dance recital rehearsal at City College and I needed to find something to eat so I decided to give Harlem Tavern a try. I wanted a burger and some sweet potato fries and a great atmosphere since I was going to be in Harlem for 2 hours. Harlem Tavern exceeded my expectations. The food was great, the service was great, the only downfall is the place is noisy because it's a popular spot. But that won't discourage me from returning again with my girlfriends for a night out.

Another great burger.

By alaskaberrys |

Had one more great burger at the Harlem Tavern. Good draft beer selection. Large outside seating. Made for a great meal. Only slight was it was pretty busy and the waitstaff was a little overwhelmed - took some work on my part to get a fork and napkin after my meal arrived, but didn't hamper my enjoyment any. Easily go there again

Good place to take a buzz

By JBsurvey |

Boutique bar without the aspect of a boutique bar except with very good food. Lots of signature drinks. Juicy sliders, and a very varied menu with delicious starters and meat. The lobster dinner on Tuesdays is cheeeeap ! And top quality. Place is very friendly and well run. .....and there is always a game on the big screen. Ended eating at this place 3 times in one week. Very close to the Harlem aloft hotel.

Good vibe

By nakiae2016 |

Was here last night. The appetizers are better than the main courses. The drinks are water down. Well the frozen drinks anyway. I had the turkey burger was extremely dry, sent it back. They do play music and plenty of people were there. Would not go back.

Great place to have dinner

By crharrington |

We had a birthday dinner and they have a great menu, tasty food and something for everyone. Great service and good for family or date night

Truffle burger! Yum!

By Michaelkasperski |

We stopped for lunch and left happy. Out burger was great with great service. We left full and vowing to return. I want to try other things on the menu. It’s worth it.

Disappointed.....

By Leonardo Z |

Very slow and not attentive service.....food average and expensive compare to the area and quality. I am not going back

It’s good

By NB_NYC2013 |

Great place for a summer drink/ food visit - but over the lunch on a weekdays - a bit too disorganized - to my taste. Everybody seems to be doing something - but nothing really gets done - same with service - 15 min in to the food arriving you realize the missed one of the dishes - and , nobody wants to wait when in a restorant and your order was forgotten. Still love summer version

Great Huge Sports Bar and Good Vibe

By Robertiskute |

Watched the Warriors beat the Cavs to win the 2015 Finals, and crowd is fun and vibe is positive and TV's are everywhere! For sure a stop to make in Harlem.

Honest food for an honest price in Harlem.

By Ignace B |

We were staying close to this place and went here twice, once for lunch, once for dinner. Good service, good food. Crowded place but this means it'ts good, right? Only thing that could be better: croques are made with the soft fluffy bread, use real bread and it will be tops!

Harlem spirit - Great food, great athmosphere!

By LoonCA |

We went there on a Sunday morning/noon. Even though the location is very big, it was packed and people were lining up. The staff was superfriendly. The food was reasonably priced and very tasty. They serve very good brunch, burgers, etc. I had a burger which was the best I had in New York. Different football games were being displayed, if your're interested. I would defenitely recommend that place!

New Staple Spot for trips back home :)!

By Rachel P |

I'm from Harlem and went away to college. Every time I come back home I'm always looking for staple spots I can bring my friends and boyfriend too. I look for places that have a good ambiance with the touch of the classic Harlem experience. We were recommended by a friend to come here and it is everything that I look for! The food was delicious. We went during Sunday Brunch, ordered from the brunch menu (which offers a lot of options) and also included a mimosa. We ate, talked and laughed, as live jazz music played. Our group ranged from age 26-37. I would definitely recommend this experience and the customer service was great. Thanks Harlem Tavern!!!

Good service, but I don't do roaches.

By s y |

I went to Harlem Tavern for happy hour with a friend. There was a bartender in training working with the bartender and both were friendly. The drink was actually pretty good. However, the huge brown roach that scurried across the bar was not who I would have wanted to spend my time with. I was completely appalled that this seemed to not shock the staff. I was absolutely disgusted.

Just had drinks

By gary a |

Went to Harlem Tavern after work with some colleagues from work and the service was great considering it was Friday evening and very busy. The waitress made her suggestions, took our order and promptly brought the drinks. She checked up on us occasionally and was not annoying. Pleasant experience..

Brunch, a Complimentary Drink and Entertainment

By GlobeTrotting624378 |

If you are in Harlem and looking for some good food and entertainment, the Harlem Tavern is the place for you. I made reservations for three and asked to sit in a booth indoors because it was hot. They accommodated us and we were happy. The brunch menu is excellent. You get a chose of an entree for $17.95 which includes a complimentary drink (a mimosa, sangria or bloody Mary. We aldo ordered appetizers (not included in the brunch price). We shared appetizers, a ceasar salad and buffalo wings. For our entree two of us ordered the lamb burgers and one a beef burger. Everything was delicious, no complaints. To top it off, there was entertainment, a local band who were good. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food and atmosphere

By BobMinchak |

I went to see my friend, who was visiting his daughter, and he is from out of town. He sold me on going here, telling my they had soul food. I figured, I was in Harlem, there has to be some good soul food here. The restaurant was hopping and was a pretty big place by New York City standards. But,,, when I looked at the menu, there was NO soul food. Not even collard greens. But, the food was good, I had a salmon fillet and sauteed spinach. Washed it down with a bottle of Kaiken Caberne Sauvignon. My friend had the beef short rips and a NY cheesecake. We both enjoyed our meals. If you are looking for a decent meal, you can get one here.

Great place for lunch - sit outside!

By theworldissmall |

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here with 8 people. Delicious food and the service was impeccable. Nice atmosphere.

Great chill spot

By Daniel D |

I've been to Harlem Tavern a handful of times and it never disappoints! Cool, chill spot to meet up with friends. Great food and happy hour. Definitely one of my favorite places in Harlem!

In the Harlem mood

By Chris |

Harlem Tavern is a cozy and lively spot where locals are used to meet. Tourists also. It's located on the corner of Frederick Douglass Blvd and 116th Str. I came once with my son to watch soccer in the large sports bar. We took crispy wings with our tap Coors. There were plenty TV screens transmitting baseball and football matches. Room was packed with fans. Great atmosphere. After the match we moved to the large shaded terrace. We sat at a picnic style table side by side with a friendly family. We ate simple hearty local food. Seafood gumbo and buttermilk fried chicken. Good service, reasonable prices. We were feeling full up and cool.

Fast, friendly and great food.

By Frank P |

After you've spent an hour or two walking around Central Park head north up Frederick Douglass Blvd to Harlem. It's a pleasant stroll and you'll arrive at the big Red tent on the left side to Harlem Tavern. We love that the tables weren't cramped, there is room to breath. Get there for Sunday lunch and listen to the Jazz while you enjoy any one of the many dishes available. You cannot miss the cornflakes crusted French toast. It's on our must do again list. The decor needs revitalising but who cares the food is great.

Lovely first visit to Harlem

By GERORP |

On a recent visit to NYC with family we decided to visit Harlem for lunch. A first for us. Got the subway from downtown to 116th street and The Harlem Tavern was just across the street. We got to the front door which had a sign with an arrow saying "use other door" . So after several attempts walking around and failing to find another door we came back to the original one only to discover the front door was in two halves and one half was "The Other Door"! A lovely girl, Aisha "BB", who, with her colleague, was doubled up laughing after watching 6 of us wander around outside, opened the door and we fell in in hysterics laughing!!! This got us all off to a great start ...which only got better. We all had delicious cocktails and lovely lunch served by a charming friendly waiter. When there was a problem with one of the meals it was taken off the bill and we were treated to a complimentary round of drinks. We would love to have returned on Sunday as we were told there is a regular jazz brunch but we were flying home. Definitely next time!!!!!!

The atmosphere was very much oriented toward the football game

By Dr S |

Went to see the playoff games at the Harlem Tavern. The crowd was very enthusiastic and the ambiance was electric. Plenty of food and suds to make it even better.

Good visit

By Laurence L |

Great wait service combined with good food, very good place to meet for business or socialize with friends in Harlem

Repeat visitor!

By JMart22 |

The Harlem Tavern is a must visit when in the city! The have an excellent variety on their menu and lots of locals eating with friends and family. In warmer weather, you can enjoy your meal on the front patio. My favorite dish is the skillet Mac and cheese with buffalo chicken.

Disappointing

By warren1031 |

This place seems always busy and I was looking forward to trying it. It was packed when we visited. Great vibe on a Sunday afternoon and lots of football fans having fun. Food was good but the service was slow. I think it was just our waiter as I noticed other tables getting more check ins from their server than us. But after taking our order we never heard from our waiter until I signaled to him from across the restaurant we wanted our check. Then waited and waited for someone to take our credit card. In the end we paid in cash and just got up and left. Won’t be back.

Great Brunch! Affordable, and tasty!

By TasteHarlem |

Three of us went to brunch after church on Sunday. Instead of getting our usual eggs omelet or pancakes, or waffles we decided to get gumbo, hamburger and a lamb burger. The brunch was so affordable! Everything was so tasty! The burgers were cooked correctly to perfection and it included a drink!! We all felt like getting seconds! I can't wait to go back! This is definitely a redo. I understand why they never missed a beat since opening! They always have crowds.

Average Food But a Nice Place to Sit Outside and Drink a Beer or Three

By OceanView_415 |

The Harlem Tavern is very open and feels like a Biergarten or sports bar. The food is OK (stick with the simple items like pizza, burgers, etc). They have a good beer selection and the place has good energy. We spent a couple of summer evenings here enjoying the friendly vibe and large outdoor patio. It's also good for kids and large groups.

A-Plus Sports Bar in Harlem!

By BigMoWal |

This is The Spot to catch your favorite team play, while having great cocktails & bar grub! The atmosphere is Grown & Sexy!!! You can sit at the bar or at a table. The barmaids are sexy & sociable! Drink & food prices are reasonable. You don’t have to drink & drive, even if you can’t locate a designated driver for the evening. This is one of my favorite sports bars.

Harlem Tavern is definitely a good look

By Willie H |

Great food and wonderful atmosphere. Saturday night was very lively. Tons of TVs to watch the games and the back music from the DJ was on point. Truly enjoyed it.

fine, but nothing to remember

By dei40 |

I had a pork sandwich with sweet potato fries for lunch. The sandwich was fine but not great, and the fries were actually very good. Service was just ok. In sum, a so-so place that is worth going if it is lunch time and you are in front of it.

Very busy, lively, young restaurant - well suitable for bigger groups

By Sandra B |

Even though the restaurant seemed completely packed, a nice waiter approached us immediately after our arrival and seated the 3 of us on an empty table. The drinks came pretty quickly, the food was decent. There were large tables all around us filed with people having fun, which gave a lively atmosphere to the place. However, this might not be the place to take someone to a romantic date or to discuss serious business. Our waiter was amazing.

Nice Patio, Under Average Food

By RaquelitaNYC |

A nice corner in Harlem, huge garden/patio, live music during the weekend. Space is great to enjoy brunch or dinner with friends but the food is regular. I ordered benedict eggs and the eggs were horrible, the bun wasn´t fresh and the salad... very poor.

Great drinks food music and service.

By cepjrnyc |

Last nite the Harlem Tavern was happening. The happy hour sangria was delicious and the DJ had the music blasting .People were having a great time.

What not to do

By Ichaso17 |

Though it seems like great hangout not only for locals and tourists, which the name certain will attract, this is most definitely a "buyer beware of the food" restaurant. I can not say enough bad things about it. I am surprised that the health department has not as of yet intervened. You would be far better off getting your food at the bodega and the convenience stores across the street. To make matters worse the courtyard smells of old food and decaying rotten fish. Incredible!! And there seems to be no management who even cares. I feel sorry for the waiting staff who has to serve up this tripe. And it was not the first or second time this has happened. I tried to give this establishment a second and third chance. At every turn it was just impossible. Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fine food terrible service

By Maxwell R |

Having gone half a dozen times I have never received even adequate service. Perhaps it's because the venue is so large but it takes forever to get drinks. Food is fine but overpriced, don't get the salad with salsa! They have lots of TV's/a large projector for sports games but as it's one of the few venues in the area it's packed for big games. Not particularly good happy hour or beer selection.

Harlem vibe on 116th Street

By MoniUsa |

Anytime I came to Tavern Harlem I always had a great time. The food is great and well cooked. The stuff professional and friendly. The location is perfect, just right next to the train station. I chose Tavern Harlem to watch the SuperBowl and I was very happy about it. The fried oysters are to die for. On saturdays I also enjoyed some live music.

Rude, inconisderate, and disrespectful staff, very disappointing!!

By DeeFish45 |

i go to this restaurant regularly, the food is generally good, they have a lot of televisions, which is great for watching sports, especially if you want to watch multiple games. However, there seems to have been a change in staff, and I have noted a lot of turnover in staff here, I am not sure what that is about, but it took a turn for the worse on my last visit. My girlfriend and I went in for dinner, upon arriving we noticed my brother at the bar. I want to point out that there was no wait or line to get in, it was late in the evening. I told the hostess my brother was at the bar and I wasn't sure if he would be joining us for dinner or not, but he would certainly want to swing by and chat, in the very least. After we sat down, the waiter came over, and asked us if we were expecting anyone else and I explained my brother was at the bar, and he would be swinging by, but I wasn't sure if he was going to eat or not. At any rate, the waiter seemed insistent on putting us in a table for two, even though there was no pressing need to put us there because there was no immediate demand for tables from waiting diners, we deferred and told him we preferred to sit where we were. My brother was at the bar, and offered to buy us drinks, which he did, then he came over to our table with the drinks to join us. The waiter came over and had a complete hissy fit!! He was upset that my brother brought drinks over from the bar and not through him. He was very rude, and disrespectful. He complained to the host, who also came over, and we tried to explain the situation. We ended up with a different server, another waitress, which was fine with us. My brother was not ordering food and after his beer went back to the bar to visit with some friends of his. After our food was served, my brother came back to the table with his drink to see how we were doing and to chat. Well, the waitress gave him a very hard time. She asked him if he was sitting at the bar or sitting at our table, they were so anal!! He said he had friends at the bar, and he had family at the table and was moving back and forth. He ended up arguing with the waitress who said "they" told her to confront him. He asked, who are "they"? To which she didn't respond, then the host came over to our table and told us we were making his job tough. The only thing I can figure is that the serving staff were concerned about their tips, since my brother was buying drinks at the bar, the amount spent would not be included in my final bill. This made no sense to me, because the bartender was paid and tipped by my brother. Our experience was completely ruined by these petty confrontations, plus my girlfriend was angry at me for leaving a 20% tip, which, clearly, she didn't deserve, but I know they depend upon tips to make a living. In this area of town, there are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, although I liked Harlem Tavern prior to this event, I will spend my money at other establishments where they are more appreciative of regular customers.

Worth a visit

By missymoo1976 |

It was busy tonight due to a very large group of lawyers but we were served our drinks quite quickly considering, great atmosphere the staff were lovely I’m happy we had to show vaccine pass to enter reasonably priced drinks we didn’t eat here but I’m pretty sure the food would be great

Fun night

By Itz P |

A bit noisy but great food. Saturday night live music. Tv for sports fans. Good prices! Nice size menus.drinks are reasonable. In the summer you can sit outside under the stars. It's a great place to eat!

"Food Lacking and Disappointing"

By SunJoy1 |

After locating and reading about the Harlem Tavern on the internet, I decided to make a reservation and take a group of 7 people made up of my family and friends to the Harlem Tavern on August 1, 2018 for what was supposed to be a great lunch to celebrate my "big" birthday. I'm so sorry I did! 4 (!!!) of the 7 meals we ordered were not good with them being either bland, no flavor (the cod fish of the cod fish sandwich (2)) super salty, over spicy, with uncertain ingredients and only a few pieces of meat (chicken quesadilla) so burnt and hard it was inedible (HT hamburger). We are very gracious and did not complain, but these meals were not good, not tasty, and not enjoyable. Even my soda and the apple caramel pie didn't come out right! All seltzy no flavor (the soda) and mushy (pie). Perhaps it was an off day for food and cooking at the Harlem Tavern, but we went with high excitement and anticipation for a good lunch and were sadly let down quickly. I spent just over $200 for my birthday lunch at the Harlem Tavern, but the taste of the majority of our food did not add any happy to my birthday. No happy! The mango shrimp was tasty (but diced mango served under it unflavorful). Disappointed with the meals at Harlem Tavern.

Great food, fun atmosphere, pretty terrible service

By tgalis |

We love going to Harlem Tavern because of the outdoor seating and good food. We went yesterday for lunch and had great biscuits and eggs and a jalapeno burger. The service is sooooo slow, though. I recommend it if you have time to wait a bit.

Burger brew in Harlem with flat screens and outdoor space

By BroadwayBruce |

If you're uptown and looking for a sports bar our outdoor no brainer chat and chew, chow down here. Wings, burgers etc... lots on tap and a nice urban, neighborhood, and new neighborhood ( white folks) mix. On a football Sunday its bumpin' with legions of whacko fans from all over and regulars who haven't given up on the Giants and Jets. In Summer time its prime time to sit outside and enjoy amidst like minded multitudes. Again, don't think so hard, come and enjoy

Live music

By Jonas J |

Nice place kind of basic food and drinks. Lots of atmosphere. Close to some gospel church that definitely is worth a visit.

Maybe the Worst Service Ever

By melthomas0 |

As a start, the manager never came to our table after 4 requests. He finally sent the Asst Mgr. After being seated, we waited 20 mins before being told no one was assigned our table. I had to stop my wife from leaving, but I later refused to pay for 2 of 3 meals. My burger was raw after requesting well done; it took them 25 minutes to return the meal. Son's chicken excessively greasy and undercooked. I left a nice tip for the waiter that went out of his way to save us, but too little to late. I was totally dumbfounded the manager would not come to the table. Very disappointed after receiving great services and food in other Harlem establishments.

Great hang out

By IvyNYC |

Above average sports bar menu, great outdoor seating, excellent screens for event watching...but lots of seating so you do not need to be there to watch a game. Great place for lunch or dinner. Great all seasons.

A bit expensive but nice

By Charlotte A |

I found the drinks menu a bit expensive. We had a black cherry high noon for 9 dollars and a beer at those prices too, it was very good. The terrace is pleasant and lively.

Corn flake French toast and mimosas

By clarochell |

This was our last day in NY. We wanted to go to brunch and got recommendations from folks on Facebook. We decided on Harlem Tavern and took a lyft there. We got in and seated outside right away. I ordered the spring omelet which was egg whites, lobster and shrimp. Came with an arugula salad with strawberries and oranges. Had a bite of a friend's cornflake French toast. Super tasty! It was a huge portion, so she took half home to top with ice cream later! Our brunch came with a drink...Two mimosas and one Bloody Mary, please. It was a great end to our trip and reasonably priced.

Good, Casual Uptown Spot

By Kev D |

This has a good, casual atmosphere. It is laid back with good decor. One of the things I appreciated was the welcoming atmosphere. Although, it is near the subway, you do need to be committed to going uptown to enjoy the spot.

Great Lunch! Excellent menu and great variety

By Lamaisondart |

Great Space and very good for sports events. A little crowded but I love it at Lunch when its quieter. Great menu and everything on the menu tastes great!

Amazing!

By ViGreen |

Good environment, good food and beer! Usually with many games airing on the TVs! Open late night. For all ages but always full of young people.

Bad service. average food. average drinks. what are you selling? the live band?

By lsanchez1285 |

I, like many, am a sucker for good service. Because although it is a restaurant and you are selling food; the service is the experience. If i can walk out of your restaurant with an experience then i will be back.... The place has no noticeable decoration, you can sit outside. very loud music live or otherwise. Average food, average drinks and god-awful service.

Food on point....service needs some improvement

By Angela B |

Ended up here on a whim just walking around Harlem on a Friday night. It was busy, however got seated upon arrival without a reservation. We sat on the outside covered area and the noise level was a bit much. Just be aware, not sure if in the proper restaurant/indoor area if it's any better. Our waitstaff seemed to be absent minded wondering around and wasn't good at checking in on us. We ended up having to call him over after he passed by multiple times without even looking to see if we needed anything. To the point where we ended up ordering double drinks as we weren't sure when the waitstaff would return. The food was delicious. And honestly the savior of the review as the service left little to desire. Ordered the Pot of Mussels (2 ways...did the White and Spicy Tomato), I've only had in white sauce while my counterpart only had in tomato. I maybe bias but the white sauce is wayyy better. For mains ordered the Truffle burger (I love me some truffle) and the Codfish Po'boy sandwich. Ended up splitting both in half and sharing the other 1/2 with one another as they were so good. The burger was cooked perfectly and not overwhelmed with truffle and the codfish po'boy was crispy with the lettuce, tomato, mayo and the bread all adding to the flavor. I would go back and sit in another section to see if the service is the same all around or if we just had an off night for the gentleman.

My sister and I happened on this place by mistake. The hostess seated us and then we we waited for a waiter for a min. When he finally came he took our drink orders. The soda products are non refillable. So we ended up with water. Then the waiter took a while to come back to table. We saw him talking and playing around with his coworkers. He seemed annoyed when we told him that we were ready to give our order a while ago. He finally took our order. It finally came after about 45 minutes of waiting. I ordered the Okra soup. It was tasting good until I came across the bug that was in it. I immediately stopped eating. I didn’t make a fuss about it. I was just annoyed about everything else that already happened. We paid our check and I left hungry. I was just not impressed with this place.

Atmospheric, Good Vibe, food was excellent.

By TrueBlueRay |

Seemed to have mostly ok reviews and was near to where we were staying at Central Park. It’s lively, sports tv screen dominated, but it’s possible to enjoy nonetheless. We were seen to a table within, noisy, lively, interesting. It’s a tad overpriced, but it’s New York, everything’s expensive. The local draught beers were good, cocktails good too. Calamari starter would have fed a family of four, it was fine. Gumbo soup was really excellent. Paella main needed a doggie bag to take some home, the fish and chips were good too. Service was a bit intermittent, friendly, interested, helpful, just extremely busy. I’d return and will whilst here. I’m prepared to pay over the odds given where we are.

Go somewhere else

By Tricia L |

Don’t believe the hype it’s nothing special here. Service sucked. The menu was overwhelming yet nothing stood out and appealed to me. Might be good if you have a big group and get the party menu. Won’t b back

Good Brunch

By qcgirl |

Went here for brunch one Saturday morning with friends. They have a great brunch special ($15 which includes a drink). I had the banana spice pancakes and a side of bacon. The pancakes were a little dry but they had great flavor. The restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived but definitely started to pick up throughout the day. For the price (especially in NYC) I would go back to this restaurant again.

Great place to watch football

By Kschiap1 |

Good bar food. Great draft beer selection. Fun place to watch a game--and to people watch. Weekend brunch offers a free drink with an entree. Sometimes music, too.

Good choice for a Sunday brunch!

By Shanij60 |

Good food in general , not cheap and live good music. This is the deal in this well located restaurant in Harlem. Recommended!

A good deal at happy hour

By Itinerant_Foodies |

A good deal at happy hour and taco Tuesday is great. Some heat in those tacos but they have great flavor. Service is quite good and the extended covered patio is a nice alternative to being inside.

Nice Brunch Place

By lilrox724 |

Loved eating here. It was perfect for brunch. It does get busy but we got there at 11am when they opened and was able to easily get a table but by 12 it was almost packed. They have a good brunch menu that has a great variety of dishes and it comes with a drink (including mimosa or beer as options). Food was delicious. Enjoyed the jazz band playing as we ate and when football came on, it was nice to watch the game as well. Definitely will be coming back here again.

Great food and service

By Luv38DD |

This place is a gem of East Harlem. Its indoor and protected outdoor seating provides a wonderful dining ambiance. The food is prepared expertly and delivered with a smile from a well trained staff. Great for business meetings, getting together with friends and parties.

not your average date place

By LoveforJones |

I gave it 4 stars for the food. The space is average but it's great for sporting events with amount of screens and space. The appetizers are really good and happy hour drinks are reasonable. Do not bring a date here for conversation; it can get a bit noisy

So Accommodating!

By Cemota |

I arrived early and waited at the bar, they had no iced tea so the bartender iced hot tea for me, his treat! We were a party of 12 and our waiter made our 99 year old matriarch feel like a queen. We ordered from the Brunch menu (under $20pp),everyone enjoyed their meals and shared, we liked everything we sampled. There was nice live music that day as well. I grew up in this neighborhood in the 1980's and it is so much nicer now.

Great Food!

By Ashley648 |

My sister & I stopped here to have an early dinner. The service was great and the food was even better. We were greeted by 2 beauties with pleasant attitudes and seated promptly. I ordered short rib sliders with seafood mac & cheese. My sister had the lamb burger. Everything was so good right down to the nice breeze underneath the outside patio area. I will not come back to Harlem without revisiting.

Mediocre food, bad service, overpriced, good atmosphere

By ra-ra-j1 |

Only go there because of the big outdoor space on a nice day. Service has gotten better but it is still pretty terrible. I usually don't care much about service as long as food and drinks come with some regularity. That's not the case here. Food is okay but not great and prices are fairly high for quality. The one thing this place has going for it is that it's got the best outdoor space in Harlem and can handle big groups.

A very pleasant surprise

By pk_yvr |

What a great neighbourhood hang out! The food was off the charts good - straightforward dishes but very well executed with tons of flavour. Good beer selection too - not easy to find on our NYC trip. I had the short ribs and they were excellent - way above pub/bar/tavern average - and I heard from my tablemates that the fish and chips and burgers were also very tasty. Add to that a lively atmosphere of mostly locals on the huge indoor-outdoor space and you have all the ingredients for a nice night out in the big city. Would certainly go back.

Down to Earth sports bar HOWEVER...

By 379mareks |

We ordered frog legs and..... Not really gonna comment on them but rather on what it came with. The greens were served with most inedible substance I've ever had... Really really blah! Kind of a dressing perhaps??! Atrocious! OH, and why are they having a "nightclub" style of a bathroom attendant?? Is beyond me... Tsk, tsk...

welcoming suumer with cocktails

By SassyGee |

nice local place to have a meal, appetizers or drinks. We went during the middle of the week midday so there was no line or waiting. the outdoor space is very nice to sit on a beautiful sunny day. they have big screen tv & projects that play in & outdoor. We just went for drinks but will be back for dinner.

Spacious Social Scene

By niedriak |

There are so many places to wine and dine in the area, however there’s the need for elbow room. Harlem Tavern offers this and for that reason, I was all in! The food and drinks made it that much better! Try the Ceviche- even though it was a little different from how I am used to seeing the ceviche served it was delicious and meaty... very filling. It came to me looking like a cured seafood salad, instead of all the contents being submerged in juice. I enjoyed that along with the Texas Mule! My drink of choice. Friendly patrons, professional staff, great place to socialize

Way down hill, plus B rating

By ELSUSHI921 |

Couldn't wait to eat and run..I had forgotten it was still a B eating by Board of Health..The manager told us, it was not food related. I couldn't eat here, my husband did, but he said the Turkey burger was dry and not like it used to be..the fries dried out. The beer warm, but they fixed that..There were holes in the booth, I was scared a mouse would come out..This used to be an awesome scene and fun...I know they are gutting out this place, but the food should improve too..Not coming back til the fix up, clean up, and have an A.

Perfect Sunday Lunch

By Chris S |

We took a walking tour in Harlem on the Sunday Morning (followed one in the guide book rather than in a group. Was perfect and safe). This was at the end of the walk and was ideal for lunch. Lots of locals, music playing and great staff. We jumped the queue because we walked to the front and said we were happy to sit at the bar at the back. It did look like it got busier as lunch went on. Ideal lunch fare...wings, burgers, fries and beer. Did what it needed and the staff were happy and attentive. Well worth the visit.

Loud and overpriced

By JogNy |

On a busy Saturday afternoon during the pandemic, a group of 8 or 10 people at a nearby table were really loud and taking group photos while not wearing masks. Many other restaurants in NY have lost their liquor licenses for allowing this sort of thing. Food is adequate, nothing special. My wife had two glasses of wine, which were very small, about 3 ounces. Then when the bill came, $12 each. Outrageously overpriced.

Brunch and drinks

By sockscrombie |

This place is awesome, my husband had read the reviews and we thought we would go there to give it a go. We were so impressed. We shared tacos to start and then had our main courses. Everything was so tasty 💕👍❤️

Great Spot

By Chelsea A |

So I missed HH here because my friend wanted to move slow...But next time I'm in NY im coming back here for HH. We came here to grab a drink. We both grab Hennessy Punches-too sweet no henny, $30 wasted...but the fries were soo good and my friend enjoyed his beer ($8, not bad) But as far as the actual place, spacious! Good service and great music! We were just chilling and weren't in a rush to leave because the ambience was just perfect. I would definitely come back again. We ubered here and but its also close to the train. But I would say come here, bring your friends and have a greattttt timeee!

Big outdoor good with any kind of weather

By Alessandra D |

Harlem tavern is the restaurant down the street to go to any time you don't feel like cooking, want to have a chat with a friend, are a big group of people, want to check out the game on a big screen or whatever other reason you might have. The outdoor has a roof and is heated so it's good all year around. I go to the Tavern twice a month and I am never disappointed.

Late Night Oasis!

By Ronald S |

Went to this eatery after midnight and the food and service was still great and the place was inviting with places to sit indoors and outdoors.

Nice dinner

By Crossing Portugal |

The place was very nice, includes an outdoor space. Staff was friendly. The food was ok, but not spectacular, we had mac and cheese and tacos.

Great Neighborhood Spot

By S C |

We had some beers and an appetizer outdoors. The food and beer were good but the service and the patrons really made this place special. Our servers were really friendly and helpful with navigating the area. And shout out to the Harlem mom's group who bought us "adventurous tourists" a round of drinks! We will be back to the Harlem Tavern and back to hang out in Harlem!

Great place

By NB_NYC2013 |

I like this place a lot, especially, in summer! The outdoors space is great, love the entertainment feature. Have been visiting for several years now, it's like a little summer tradition. Food and drinks have shifted a little this year, I feel like that place needs a slight menu change. Other than that solid 4!

"Great Saturday Brunch"

By mmanigo |

After a long walk through Fort Washington Park, three of us went to Harlem Tavern. Although I had lived in NYC more than 30 years, on this vacation I experienced the new Harlem. This restaurant is a wonderful addition. The food was great, and the price ($16 pp) was quite reasonable for NYC. Outdoor seating and jazz music on a sunny summer afternoon made for an enjoyable experience. My seafood gumbo had the right amount of seasoning to transport my taste buds to NO. Another of us had the HT burger, and the Mahi Mahi salad rounded out our choices. All around, the food was tasty and our server, didn't get his name, was efficient and pleasant. A memorable outing. Will return when next I am in NYC.

Good food

By Jatania M |

We had a great time sitting outside talking and eating. The food was pretty good. We ordered the mac ans cheese, sliders, calamari and spinach and artichoke dip. Everything was delish. Not too pricey.

The food is Amazing

By AussieWestCoasters |

On a 10 day holiday to New York we (sadly) only discovered this food heaven on our second last day. We were unable to make up our mind which beer to have, from an excellent selection. Our waiter, Sergio, gave us a taste of 3 or 4 ales in our preferred style. For our mains, we chose the daily special – Roasted American Seabass, Rissoto Cake, Asparagus and Cajun Crispy Fried Pickles. This dish was to die for – worth coming half way around the world for. What a great chef they have! The following day was our last in NYC and we couldn’t resist returning for another serve of the same dish we had the night before. It was cold and raining heavily when we arrived 7 minutes before opening time only to be turned away by the cashier as “we are still setting up”. We walked around in the rain for another 7 minutes then returned, cold and miserable but determined to enjoy this sensational dish again. Our waitress, a gorgeous and friendly young lady by the name of “Ryan”, advised us this dish was not on today as the specials are changed daily. After expressing our disappointment, Ryan spoke to the chef, who agreed to make the dish for us again. Again, it was sensational – oh to be able to serve up food like this! At Ryan’s recommendation, we also tried the Chicken Quesadilla. This was also a truly delicious treat and Ryan's own favourite. We loved it and this was one of the highlights of a fantastic holiday in New York. On our way back to Australia now but when we return to NYC a return visit to the Harlem Tavern will be at the top of our list.

Happening spot

By Keith D |

Saw this place on a Saturday night and it was packed and jumping. We dropped by for lunch and a beer a few days later and found it very pleasant with excellent coconut shrimp and a good beer selection. Nice ambiance, especially if the weather is fine.

Local resident - horrible

By Local-Harlem |

i've been coming since opened, and this was the worst, even came when first opened during pandemic, and forks/spoons in plastic, paper plates and limited menu...went this past Sunday 5-29 brunch 12n : son's egg white omlette -two egg or less omlette, or 4 bites, very small, my omlette w/ cheese was salty, the potatoes were disgusting, made earlier in day perhaps? ordered eng muffin side, dry..came cold, and was oily -horrible..looks like most table's taken by tour bus people, no excuse for horrible food...Granted the service was never good, but food was just bad -better consistent restaurants in neighborhood..never again.

I was expecting more

By Leonardo Z |

Considering that this place is owned by the same people of the Red Rooster I was expecting more that just an "average"hamburger place.

I’m Done With This Place

By 19621991 |

Cannot recommend Harlem Tavern. Have given it a few shots, but the food is extremely marginal, overpriced, and the service greatly lacking. They are phoning it in. I won’t be going back.

I will be back

By kitkat1043 |

A friend treated me to lunch after I told her I had never been to Harlem Tavern in New York City. She had been there a few times and said the food was good. We opted to eat "inside" although there were many people eating outside and it was a nice sunny day. There were not a lot of people inside so that was okay by me as we were waited on right away and it did no take long for our order to come. we went during the week but I understand that it can get more crowded on weekends. Inside is more like a sports bar with several TV screens and a bar as well as booths and tables. I ordered the "Truffle fries" because they were recommended and a cod fish sandwich. I had lemonade with my order. The sandwich was very tasty and the fries were very good! The sandwich was so big I thought it was two sandwiches instead of one, so I winded up eating only half and taking the rest home for later. Along with the fries it was quite enough. I must admit I thought the sandwich might be a tad salty since it was "cod fish" but it was not. It was meaty on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Nice combo. Since my experience was good I will be going back again and taking friends. Not sure how the drinks are at the bar.

Fun atmosphere for enjoyable Harlem evening

By philwar58 |

Enjoyable and accommodating restaurant. We sat outside with group of 8. Staff was very helpful and the atmosphere was great. Food was good but not outstanding. Our group went for sandwiches and burgers.

Great Place for sports watching

By Rich207 |

We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was a loud and fun place to watch the NFL games . had NY teams on huge screen and plenty of TV's for the other games. Got a table and thought we'd wait a long time since it was packed, got our wings and beer in about 20 minutes , good system of getting stuff out fast and the pitcher of beer was a 64 ounce half gallon the way it should be!! Classic place been there for ever , lots of locals and tourists , staff were friendly and one person roaming to check on tables , nice touch on a busy busy afternoon.

Lively and fun.

By Llynne T |

The vibe here is unpretentious, relaxed, and upbeat. A large outdoor dining option fills up quickly in clement weather; indoor seating with a lively bar crowd available for other times and for those of us who dislike sidewalk dining (It's the dogs' bathroom, people.). Good selections of beer on tap and wine by the glass. Superior burgers, wings, mac & cheese, fried chicken, etc. Don't come here looking for haute cuisine, haute attitude, or haute prices. Great place to kick back and enjoy a meal and a drink with friends.

huge, centrally located sports bar

By itsWindy |

I was in NYC looking for a place to watch the World Series by myself, and my hostess recommended Harlem Tavern. This is a big space with indoor and outdoor seating, some more restaurant and family oriented, other areas more bar and sports focused. Good selection and prices, fast bartenders, great mix of locals and perfectly fine for this tourist. I'd definitely return for food and music and bring friends.

Great place to eat

By imhawaiian |

Great food, prices, service & ambiance. I went to celebrate my sisters birthday and we both loved everything. We've been there before & will definitely return!!!

Singing Its Praises

By Ava L |

We visited here on a Saturday afternoon. My family and I decided on this establishment because of location. We had no reservations, don’t recall if any required. We were seated rather quickly. Our host and other staff we encountered were very pleasant and friendly. They had a jazz band playing! VERY NICE. I ordered the spiced lamb burger; medium well with sweet potato fries and beer. We all got different fare, everyone said their food was delicious. The cocktails were serious, seriously tasty good. We all walked to Harlem Tavern as we were staying nearby. They are opened for brunch as well.

A bit disappointed

By silverfox711 |

My wife & I had not been to this place for over a year. Last time we visited, we were generally satisfied with the entire experience. This time not so.we went for a casual snack & we were seated without delay at a table of our choice. Our waitress, Alyssa was charming & brought us our water quickly & then took our order. I ordered Caesar salad & my wife ordered Seafood Cefiche. After a fairly significant delay, our food arrived. To say it was mediocre would be too kind. In the meantime our lovely waitress developed the art of not looking as did a number of the other waitresses. We paid the bill & left disappointed & we will not be returning until we hear of a significant improvement in service & food quality.

outdoor brunch with live music

By Monpetit |

The music is good, the beers are perfect and the food more than correct. Very fresh oysters, excellent ceviche, very good gombo. Good familial ambiance.

Friendly bar and restaurant

By AJMglobaltraveller |

We met some friends at Harlem Tavern. It was nice sitting outside in the sunshine. I had the seafood ceviche which was nice with chopped mango in it but it would have been nicer if the onion had been chopped smaller. I also shared a fish taco which was nice.

Bad service

By Tricia L |

No one came to take our order or greet us at our table for over 20 minutes. We looked at the menu and decided to just leave

Nice neighborhood spot

By BrussoDallas |

We stopped here for a late dinner b/c it was near the apt. we were staying at. Even though the Giants were playing that night we were able to get sat on the patio right away. The service was good & the food was delicious and they had some deals going on during the game. If we are back in this area in the future we would definitely eat here again, they had options for everyone.

Great Time

By Beautynewyork |

On June 27 my family and I visited the Harlem Tavern for the first time. I was traveling from Atlanta GA, so I made reservation for a party of fifth teen at 7:30pm. When I arrived they stated they didn't see my reservation scheduled. But a hostess name of Shauna had went over and beyond to make sure that my family and I was seated and happy. Her customer service was excellent. I wish every restaurant that I visit all hostess will have her good attitude. My server was nice and attentive. My birthday weekend at the Harlem Tavern turned out to be a success. I will definitely go visit again!!

Harlem Tavern in NYC: do NOT miss!!!

By Carol |

My husband and I started our travels in Maine, worked our way through New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. However, arriving to New York, this was the BEST food we had on the trip, and this is a complement since we had outstanding food the entire time. Order the babyback bbq ribs with French fries and the fried green tomatoes flatbread. You will not be disappointed. I promise!!! The ribs fall off the bone and are perfectly seasoned. The fried green tomatoes are at once fresh and tender. Delicious!!! And, the waiter was excellent and attentive. The manager asked us for our music pref, and he played jazz music to die for. I’m from California, but when I come back to New York, this will be my first destination!!!

Light Night Quality Food

By Devonta |

Harlem Tavern is a good place to get a bite to eat when you don't want to deal with restaurant wait times. The have a solid menu of hearty and filling meals. It's basically a sports bar with good food. Try the Turkey Burger, Chicken Quesadilla, Seafood Ceviche or the Lamb Burger. They are a little slow to refill water and the waiters take forever to come back to the table. Other than that, good spot.

Good Local Spot

By Jaw |

Good place, good atmosphere, yummy food, nice crowd with good people watching. Decent service sitting outside. Had the Harlem Steak Sandwich which was so incredibly yummy and satisfying. The calamari was crispy and fresh, paired perfectly with the aioli. Went here during a late afternoon before dinner definitely need to go back for dinner or when the place is hoping with entertainment.

Finally dinner before leaving the city

By Michea' L |

This was a nice place to bring the family to eat. The waitress was great!!I don't like the way the water person kept coming to reach over my food . Seems like I could only get water or alcohol?!?!? Sliders were great tho!!! The waitress came to get her tip off the table counted it right there then made a face, stood there with the hostess and talked about how much she got right there in our face,,, what she didn't know was that we were getting change to give her more but she wasn't worth the $8 we gave. Needless to say here rudeness cut her out of her tip... oh well.

Pathetic

By Lou L |

White people who actually think they are experiencing Harlem...No. It’s an attempt to make white people think they are. Food is sorry, service is worse. Go to a real Harlem restaurant not this knock off. Completely unorganized and the menu is unimaginative. Don’t waste your time.

Great spot

By Olga sokolov |

This place is full of life. The menu selection is amazing, and the Mac n chez is the best. My drinks were very strong but then again I tip very well. I will definitely come back

Over rated and a tourist haven.

By Cnw2013 |

I am always puzzled by the popularity of this place. They are always packed. The food is ok but not great. The service is average. The tour buses stop here so you get a lot of people at certain times. If you want a beer with some friends, it will probably suit you ok. There are plenty of other more interesting and better value restaurants in Harlem.

For a quick stop in the middle of Harlem...nice atmosphere

By Smash63 |

A different view in a different part of NY...typical of Harlem...close to the metro station...cheap prices...good food for the place...

Great Place

By Vikash R |

I love this place. The ambiance is great. Lively and fun. There's plenty of space, and the front area is enclosed in the colder months to ensure plenty of seating.

Hangin with my Son and his friends

By TaresaE |

My son and several of his friends have relocated to NY for work and we came here for dinner, drinks and to unwind!! Great food, great atmosphere, and great service! If you are a sports fan this is the spot to be because there are plenty of large screen televisions all around. Also there is an outside area that looks awfully inviting when the weather is nice. Can't wait to come back when he weather is warm!

Proceed with Caution

By lanietadedolores |

I have visited this establishment 3x and each visit was more disappointing than the last. If its not the service; food lacked luster, its loud. This is the last place someone should eat in harlem. Its likely still in business because of its location and people must drink enough alcohol to make the food palatable. Not a Harlem Tavern Fan at all.

Great on a Summer Day

By Jojo H |

My sister is a frequent visitor at Harlem Tavern. I have gone about two times. Once on a Saturday evening and a week day evening and on both occasions it was busy. I liked sitting outside in the patio area on a nice breezy night. It is casual American food. The service is about a 7/10. The food was really good both times I ate here. The avocado and cheddar burger was a 9/10.

Cool gathering place

By bsilversneakers |

Service is great, food is tasty, wonderful meeting place, lose track of time because you are having a good time.

Good Burgers

By scotch1958 |

Good burgers in a lively atmosphere! Can get a bit noisy on the weekends since they have a DJ but other than that place was good. Nice patio and good service.

Love the atmosphere!

By scgirl61 |

Great food, excellent service, love the atmosphere! If you are in the area, you won't be disappointed! On weekend, for a very reasonable price, you can get a fantastic brunch entree that comes with your choice of beverage. I had Eggs Benedict and a Mimosa...SO delicious!

A long and fun day/ evening

By jamesohrourke |

We were visiting Harlem for the day and after a day of sight seeing we stopped in for a few beers. Had such a good selection of beers on the menu. Also had some good burgers like the spiced Lamb Burger and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. We stayed till late. Had a great night.

Music, atmosphere and hearty and tasty dishes! The pastrami with an onion/pepper pot is to fall! Same for the salmon burger! Worth a visit for brunch after a gospel!!

Great time on the Harlem Crawl

By jburke332016 |

Harlem Tavern was a great first stop on the Harlem Pub Crawl. The drinks were great, although the food was just ok.

Good place to have a beer and a burger

By Brian S |

Have visited this spot on multiple occasions, once for food and several times for a beer. With a full bar and some good beers on tap, it's outdoor patio is a fun place to have a drink with friends and catch up. The food is well-priced for the quality, which is standard bistro quality. Atmosphere is somewhere between a beer hall and a sports bar, but nicer than the latter. A bit noisy.

Relaxed atmosphere, good vibes

By rosean |

This an upscale sports bar, pub, and neighborhood spot. Weekends are busy, good-looking people are preening, and gathering, so the place is jam-packed. Go on weekdays for more attentive service, and you can hear your friends, and bring the kids.

Great weekend brunch

By Ireen S |

The food is absolutely delicious and the service is really nice. The live music and tables outside make it a great festive place to get together with friends.

Nice terrace, good prices, staff sometimes rude

By Okatarinetabella |

One of the best terrace in Harlem, unusual for NYC. The ambience is nice, food is good and beverages are quite cheap, especially during HH. Still, the staff puts some pressure on customers to incite them to consume again and again, and makes you understand that if you do not want to drink anything else, it is because you want to pay and leave. Quite rude sometimes, but remains very correct.

Good Food, Comfortable

By John S |

Mom, Dad, infant (4 months) and two grandparents stopped in for burgers a d sandwiches. All the food was delicious, especially the burgers and fries. Southwest chicken sandwich and lobster salad roll were tasty. Good beer selection. We will return.

Decent place

By AngieNannetteT |

I usually go to Harlem Tavern to have dinner and catch up with friends. The service is very good, and the food is decent. I particularly like their salads and french fries, but the burgers are pretty good. If you want a quiet meal this is probably not the place to go since it tends to get pretty loud.

Happy Hour for Locals

By Jane L |

A decent, reliable sports bar/tavern with a generous pour for Happy Hour. Calamari is tasty, fish tacos are fresh. Nice outdoor seating seasonally. A good place for 6+ groups with space between picnic tables and benches. A good, mildly noisy atmosphere and large screen TVs keeps conversations private. A lot of locals chatting after work.

There's No Place Like Home

By rking3170 |

My niece took me here for my final dinner before my turning 60. It's part of the trendy new scene popping up around Harlem, and New York. Great to see the hustle/bustle of young people socializing and mingling in a sea of diversity. You're not going here for a quiet time. Indoor/outdoor seating. We sat indoors. Keily was a personable and attentive server. Didn't blink an eye when my niece (who is cooking-conscious) sent back the cod fish, because it wasn't browned on the under side... while explaining to me why it should be. Keily happily took her order for a replacement steak, while I chose to have the fish cooked properly. And I did see the difference when it came back. And gladly tasted the fresh product. Calamari was perfect appetizer choice, and weren't too crispy or soggy. Drinks are New York-high priced, but poured well. Plentiful seating, so you'll never feel rushed. 1 BURP

Big Breakfast Treats

We stayed in an apartment nearby and this was our breakfast go to place. We were spoilt for choice, They have a fabulous menu to suit all of our large and fussy party.

Great find uptown!

By ProfessorCool |

Went here on a whim and so glad I did! We were seated quickly (most likely because we chose an outside table and the weather was fabulous!) and the waiters and manager was most attentive. Quite packed but not loud and obnoxious; the outside dining area is fenced off but you can still take in Harlem and see that passers by. The appetizers were great as was the food. Seasoned to perfection; well presented; great portions and prompt service. There's a whole strip of restaurants aligning Frederick Douglass Blvd aka 8th Ave now, and this one is right up there!

Great way to see Harlem!

By Taryn B |

My girl friends and I booked the Harlem crawl even though we are NYC residents, and we were so impressed by the progress has made in the last 10 years. Dozens of new restaurants and so much diversity. The drinks at each bar to welcome us was a nice touch. Highly recommended!

Noisy and fun

By luxurycounts |

Had drinks and dinner with friends. Great outdoor space but really noisy even outside. Food was good. Wine list was not. Service was weak. Good for groups.

Great place to eat w/friends

I went for a NYC trip and met up w/a friend of mine who lives in the area. After our initial restaurant choice was full, we chose this place that was across the street. It was great! It's pretty much a large pub restaurant. It has a large patio area and somewhat small indoor area. A few TVs on the walls and a even a small band played that night. The food & service was superb. Great atmosphere. We'll come back again for sure. :)

Absolutely a special place

My daughter and I love hanging out here when the weather changes. The crowd is always festive, the price is right, the food is nice tasty and hot and the service is perfect, they go above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you want.

Birthday Hangout

By UrbanBuzzMagCom |

I know it's a restaurant and it can get busy but there was a pond of water outside you had to walk around. It was a warm night have to be careful of mosquitos. The glasses were upside down on the table where dust can infringe upon the glasses and then they pour water into them should wipe it out prior. Order a burger with cheese did not get the cheese but was CHARGED was in a rush so just took it out of the tip. It took a longtime for the order to come. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed but my company was good and the music was ok so we made the best of it since it was for my birthday.

Shared several appetizers

By D W |

Everything on the menu looked good. So, we decided to share several of the appetizers. The build your own macaroni was super creamy! The little sliders came as ordered. The spinach artichoke dip was good as were the truffle fries. Sit outside if it is a nice day. We were inside, and it was VERY loud.

Decent food but wings suck

By Tara L |

Ive been here a few times. Its a great place to watch a game and they offer a good happy hour deal. Ive had the burger and one of their entree salads in the past. Both items were good. Tonight I ordered the wings and I had to put them down to write this review. I couldnt even finish them. Theyre breaded, salty and I tasted a hint of something like nutmeg or cinnamon. Yuck! I would return these if i didnt get them as a takeout meal. Never again!

Jazz Brunch - enjoyable

Enjoyable experience - live jazz as we ate. Very loud but good. Busy spot with lots of people and staff. Portions not huge but food tasty and fresh.

We had a nice Sunday brunch here with burger, good sweet potatoe fries and a margarita. Big portions and decent prices. Friendly staff and good service.
