We dined here last night and had a wonderful dinner. This is our favorite in N.Y. City and it never disappoints. I had the salmon carpaccio and the Sashimi deluxe. It was perfect. One would think that the fish were swimming that morning. It was incredibly fresh. Both plates were very attractive. My wife opted for several starters - the tempura, the seaweed salad and a roll. She was as pleased as I was. Our server, a lady name Mink, did a great job.

We went there last night at 5:30pm. The coat check is a great idea since it was a cold and rainy night and everyone was wearing heavy puffy coat. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. We ordered the box of dream. It looked beautiful and tasted delicious. Very high quality sushi! We also ended the dish with mocha ice cream, red bean and rice balls. This restaurant is definitely the jewel of midtown NY.

Excellent place, great and fresh food, lovely people. Good customer service. So unforgettable experience

The restaurant is set up well for Covid. Lots of spacing. The service was excellent all night and the sushi was delicious. We had the toro bowl and the sushi sashimi plate. Everything was tasty and fresh and well done. None of the special rolls of some places just great fish.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Hatsuhana. We were seated upstairs at a table right near the sushi bar. The Box of Dreams lives up to the hype and is excellent in both quality and presentation. I especially loved the scallops. My older son, who was never a sushi fan and had always opted for cooked items, essentially commandeered the Toro Tekka Don and said that blue fin is the most delicious food on earth. The service was also excellent and our server knew exactly which sake we would like. It was an overall excellent experience and highly recommended.

The chefs selection alongside a couple bottles of sake were amazing. The variety was really good with maybe a couple of items I wouldn’t have chosen but asked for a good variety so got what I asked for indeed! The service was really good and attentive. Only downsides were sub-par edamame and super cramped waiting area as they didn’t have our table ready on-time. Forgivable offences though.

Great place. Chefs are very personable and skilled. Service is top notch and very attentive. A little on the pricey side but the experience was worth it

The staff are charming and friendly and the quality of the food is high, and the pricing seems very fair for the quality and the fact it is in midtown New York. $190 for two people, including $25 tip, covered three appetizers, two dinner sushi plates (not a lot of sushi but a reasonable portion), two desserts, beers, sochu and a flask of decent sake.

My wife and I ordered salmon, tuna, and California rolls. It was the best sushi I've had, and well worth the price.

I got the 18 peice omasake. Complete waste of money. Fish was hard not tasty. Gross! Would not recommend. Buyer beware!

Oldish. does not have a refreshing feeling of a truly Japanese restaurant. Very noisy (had the change place 3 times) What you eat is acceptable. We have been very lucky with our server. Does not need to retried before the whole atmosphere is redone.

Excellent sushi, I was at the bar so you can see the chefs chopping and dicing. The fish was extra fresh. Overall great dinner.

My husband and I stopped by here on our honeymoon looking for good, fresh sushi and we found it! We got a Box of Dreams and spicy tuna roll. The flavors were great, although we didn't like the urchin very much. The service was excellent! I appreciated the hot towels, especially as it was cold and pouring rain outside. Would definitely return.

first day in New York city dinner at Hatsuhana have dreams box and specials crabs so good, the service is good and make sure pay the enough tip ,love it will back

I absolutely loves the atmosphere and the food at this place. Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!

Hatsuhana is a nice mix between a kind of luxe restaurant, with a great ambiance, quite large and well set up. But the prices are absolutely affordable for a great Chinese experience. No surprise it was very busy, a bit too much for the service. But not needing to complain.

Great atmosphere and fabulous food make this a must visit destination when in New York. I would particularly recommend the Box of Dreams!

This restaurant served some of the freshest sushi i have had in the USA. The caveat is that there is a high price for this. Although not as trendy as NOBU, the sushi is soooo much better.

Excellent sushi and friendly service! One of the most authentic Japanese restaurants to have high quality of sushi. The king salmon sashimi and the toro sashimi were fresh delicious and nicely cut. If you are a sushi lover you have to visit.

Wonderful experience. The attention to detail is of the highest order, from the coat check at the front door all the way through the meal. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu was friendly without being pushy. The food is excellent. I had the "box of dreams", which is 9 separate small dishes served in a beautiful lacquer box. The range of flavors was remarkable, and the fish was very fresh. I go to Tokyo once a year, and this restaurant was as good as many fine restaurants over there. The decor is simple and elegant but, as with almost all places in NYC, the tables are close together, so it's not especially intimate.

Excellent sashimis. Service is the same as in Japan. Beautifull experience. Japan in the middle of Manhattan.

Authentic Japanese place in Manhattan. You have the feeling of being in Japan. Excellent quality fish. Very kind waitress! Recommended for those who love real Asian cuisine.

Delicious, indeed. Actually, the best sushi and sashimi I have eaten outside Japan and a delightful surprise. If there's just two of you I would recommend eating at the bar upstairs as we did, and a reservation is almost certainly required (if you can't get what you want on line just give the restaurant a call as they are helpful). The menu not only covers the usual suspects but may offer them either with options (eg. Japanese or west coast uni/sea urchin, two kinds of miso soup) or with additional variety (eg. the seaweed salad had at least five types of algae). There are four beer choices with Sapporo on tap, and a short but excellent sake list with clear explanations of the four categories as well as of each one. Service is prompt and friendly, especially with Jimmy behind the sushi bar. Though the clientele was largely occidental the night we went the quality of the ingredients and the standard of their preparation is obviously high, reflected by the fact that the restaurant caters for the large parties the Japanese ambassador to the UN twice a year. To cap it all, bearing in mind Manhattan prices, the bill is not unreasonable.

We enjoyed a great dinner with great service. The sushi was very fresh and they also offered soft shell crab which was perfectly prepared. Make sure to have a reservation and sit at the sushi bar if you can to fully enjoy the experience!! Enjoy!!

Now that we live in DC where it's hard to find good Japanese dining, Hatsuhana was a hit for the entire family! Sushi, edamame, matcha dessert taste as good as in Tokyo, or even better! Great job!! The pricing is fair compared to overpriced DC Sushi restaurants. We will definitely come back.

We were just looking for a sushi place- walking distance from our hotel and we ended loving the food here. The place is not fancy at all... but great food... amazing variety of sashimi and even oysters. Highly recommended.

The sushi was very fresh and its presentation was beautiful. Everything was great. The sushi chefs was running around all night to make sure that all plates were served and cleared promptly. The waiters were highly knowledgeable about the menu. Can't wait to go back!

The sushi chefs are professional and the quality of the sushi speaks volume. While I was not overly impressed with sushi chefs pre-cutting the fish in advance, I understood the lunch rush here in the city. At least the presentation was good. I ordered the "choice" lunch for $40 and got to pick my choices of ten sushis and one roll. If I will go again, I will definitely go with the Chef's choice. I also appreciate if the staffs will take the time to tell you what you are eating. That is impressive. I will definitely come back again!

Traditional Japanese Sushi restaurant that has been around for many, many years. Great food but due to its popularity it is crowded and service was atypical Japanese with server rushing you. Surprised that it offered few choices of cooked foods for those who don't eat raw fish. Suggest reservations as it is a well known place in high demand.

I’m surprised by all the positive reviews. Look at the photos and you can tell the fish I had was not fresh. The uni was a bit bitter and fishy, not the sweetness I am accustomed to. The service was terrible. Always left my tea cup empty and even when asked takes a very very long time to fill up. The speed of service was terrible. My wife got her first dish before everyone else’s, but didn’t get the second dish after everyone else finished the food.

Delicious sushi & other Japanese delights including soft shell crab & unagi. Our waiter was very helpful with selections and how much to order. Ancient Peaks Chardonnay from Paso Region was very good. Expensive restaurant but, to us, worth what it cost.

We went without a reservation and lucked out. We were honored to have Nahem as our server. He was actually more than that. We trusted him to put together an array of sushi that was beyond what we expected. Best sushi we have had in a long time.

I had made a reservation ahead of time, requesting the best table since we had a special occasion. Ended up being early, called ahead, and they were able to accommodate us. We were promptly seated upstairs by the window and given just the right kind of attention during the evening. The server was very informative and friendly, with great suggestions. The manager was keeping an eye on how everyone was doing and how the service was going. The food was absolutely amazing and super fresh. I am still dreaming of the Box of Fantasies I had, and the omakase looked really good, too. The price we paid was fair for the quality, presentation, and service we received. I highly recommend Hatsuhana Sushi and look forward to returning next time I am in town.

Very unhappy with visit to this restaurant. Our waitress ordered something completely different than what we wanted, and when we were not satisfied, did not offer to correct the order. She then charged us twice as much as what we originally wanted, and again refused to correct. Will not return.

Japanese people have a great sense of humor. It's not that easy to find it, because it's hidden behind a face that shows a serious expression. Hatsuhana is a happy restaurant. All the cooks and sushimen are japanese, everybody speaks japanese (even the waiters that are not japanese), and there is a feeling of celebration everywhere in the restaurant. I made my reservation, the seat was waiting for me at the sushi bar, the place was crowded. Since I was alone, I didn't mind being surrounded for some noise (but I don't know if I would have enjoyed it in a romantic date). The sushi was very good. But the presentation wasn't great. I ordered a box of dreams, shown in the picture, because it's the special of the house. I wouldn't recommend to order that menu. Having seen other plates leave the sushi bar, I believe I would have enjoyed ordering from the menu, instead of having the recommended one. All the fish is mounted over rice, it's kind of sloppy put together, and it does not contain the widest selection of their fishes. I would go back, definitely, I have enjoyed the experience very much.

I chose this restaurant carefully after reading a lot of reviews. The sushi itself was good. The service and rushed nature of the restaurant was not. We ordered the box with 9 different kinds of sushi to start and we were told that it would not be enough food. We were aware of this and just wanted to order as we went. The waiter told us the sushi chef was busy and we may not be able to order. We went ahead with our plan anyhow. The waiter dropped off the box which was indeed beautiful but he did not tell us what one thing was. My experience in the past has been they the server typically tells you what each item is. We enjoyed it anyhow and ordered a few more rolls which were made without any issue. Our drinks were forgotten which was ok but just contributed to the overall night. Not a bad night, not a good night.

We had a birthday dinner there last week with family. Great selection of fresh sushi, sashimi and rolls. Fish was tender and perfectly prepared. Service was excellent too. I can't wait to go back again next time I'm in midtown Manhattan.

We dined here for dinner and had a wonderful experience. The food, the service and the ambiance were all spot on. I swear that the sashimi I had were swimming that morning. The food was spectacular. I opted for a salmon starter that was excellent. My wife had the crab and avocado starter and a very tasty roll entre. Our server was excellent. We had wine with our dinner. They have, what seemed to me to be a very good Sake menu although we’re not into it. I can’t wait to go back. Thus will be a must visit on our NYC trips. I thought the pricing was very fair for what you got.

We ordered six or seven different types of sushi during our visit for dinner prior to seeing a show. It was odd that the waiter told us we didn’t order enough food - wish he was joking but he was not. All of the sushi was just ok. The black cod lacked real flavor and the yellowtail was a bit chewy. The staff was attentive but our waiter really had no interest in being there. My gut is that this place is resting on its name ID from its 40 years of operation without much effort to engage with its customers more than it has to.

Cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. Was one of the best Japanese meals I have had in NYC. The sushi and sashimi was so fresh and outstanding service as well. I cannot wait to go back !

Just next to wework buulding on 48th, opens at 5:30 pm. The 9 or 6 small dish combo is a good one to taste different food in one shot, very special.

Authentic Japanese with talented and friendly chefs. Would recommend eating at the bar - wonderful !

We had Hatsuhana Gozen and Miso Soup at lunch time. Very crowded. Waited 25 min. to get a table. The server was friendly, courteous and excellent. But the food was disappointed. Sushi is not of good quality. Tempura was not crispy. Shrimp inside was hard and not fresh. Miso soup didn’t have the authentic Miso and soup base taste. People kept coming. But wait. I didn’t see a single Japanese dining there. Well, that was a sign. Not a good restaurant for someone who experienced real “Sushi”.

To be fair, I am not a sushi aficionado. We had the miso soup, the seaweed salad, and some california rolls. But you can tell from the clientele--primarily well-dressed Asian locals--that this place is the real deal. It's a beautiful restaurant and the service is just top-notch from the top down! It was a busy Saturday night but they fit two of us in with only a 10 minute wait. You can tell this place is just super organized and efficient on their side but they make it easy and relaxed on the customer side. Our server was extremely responsive, helpful, and professional. The ambiance was lovely, the food so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

Excellent quality food We went for lunch for a break from shopping and although the entrance is discreet the food is exceptional

The food there is fresh and delicious. Price is reasonable. We liked the tuna belly the most. Sweet, juicy and succulent. In the Box of dreams, the sea urchin and salmon roe also tasted good as the salmon roe is salty and the sea urchin is sweet. We don't like the taste of the sea urchin, but this with the rice is good. The scallop is fresh and soft and juicy. Over all, it worths the price.

Wow. This place had the highest quality fish I ever tasted. All dishes looked amazing and were so good. The place is expensive with an even more expensive saki menu but I guess it was worth it. Crab and avocado salad was superb as well as the fish dishes!

We booked a table last minute for two and managed to squeeze into their fully booked restaurant for 7pm on a Friday night. I highly recommend reserving as I saw a number of people come in asking for a table and the wait was 30 minutes with almost no line up inside. You also have to be present the entire time as it’s first come first serve. The restaurant has a dining area and the bar. Don’t bet on getting a seat at the bar just walking in 🤣 The food was delicious. We ordered 3 dishes. The two that stood out to us were the Kaisen Chirashi and Spicy Crunchy Maki. The Chirashi had a huge assortment of sashimi and fish. And for the first time the maki were actually spicy (it fave off some good heat)! The amount of food was enough for the two of us. The freshness of their seafood and the taste of their rolls were very much worth the money.

First rate food and service. Each of their dishes was prepared with expertise and care. The service was friendly and efficient. The organization of the menu made ordering easy, whether you’re a sushi aficionado or a beginner, and the wait staff was readily available for any questions. Total price for our dinner was reasonable for the high quality of the fare and overall experience.

Friendly and professional staff, without the artificial behaviour often seen in NYC. Very complete menu of sushi and more. It’s good and served with efficiency. Good value for money.

Just had lunch here while visiting family and friends in the New York area. The servers here are just specatular and the sushi and sashimi was spectacular. We ate upstairs and enjoyed the view with our delicious salad and lunch. Highly recommend it!

The review is divided as the food and the experience were completely different. The food and especially the sushi and sashimi was world class. Tastefully laid out and nice flavors. Spicy Tuna rolls are gorgeous. Dessert Mochi is clearly overrated. The ice cream was good but the tough casing and the sweetness it carried with it was a bit too much. The avocado ice cream, on the other hand, was awesome and it had carried a dessert review very far. The service was to begin with clearly good when we got a table in the lower part of the restaurant although the pressure on the table is demonstrably high. Try to get tables on the upper level as the lower level is not as nice. The service staff was friendly and professional. On the other hand, a rather lame overweight manager runs around on the lower level with a mini walkie-talkie and acts like he has it covered. The problem was, he hadn't. The manager came to our table and whispers that he needed our table urgently even though we just ordered dessert. Luckily we had to finish the dessert but the bill quickly came to the table and they really wanted to get us out quickly. Sad action when they should be able to keep track of how the tables ordered food and certainly not stress people out on the street. Our visit cost about 2700kr on an hour visit and we did not feel very satisfied when we went. The manager actually apologised for stressing us out but the damage was already done. If there is a shortage of time, you should inform the guest in advance that you are sitting on time. Otherwise, you are wrong in the service industry.

Every time we visit NYC you'll find us at least one evening at Hatsuhana. Accept for the delicious and beautifully served dishes, the intimate ambiance and the staff make you feel very special and comfortable. We had for starter the unagi kyurimaki, then the box of dreams, the chawanmushi and the sea urchin sashimi. In addition we had a glass of sauvignon blanc and a glass of sincere. I highly recommend this nice and cosy restaurant .

We had a delicious dinner at Hatsuhana. The sushi was very fresh, and the menu had many great selections. We had a reservation and our server was personable and fun. I tried the Ankimo - miso soup with clams. It was good, a bit bland. The tempura appetizer was hot and crunchy. We ordered the 10 piece "Hatsuhana" sushi pick, and I was very pleased with the type of sushi offered, included Uni and Salmon Roe. Our server also recommended a few nigiri that were excellent, including salmon trout and red snapper. We were very pleased with the experience and will definitely return.

There are a LOT of sushi restaurants in New York, many with Michelin stars. Hatsuhana is probably the oldest sushi place in NY, and it is mentioned in the Michelin guide.I haven't been eating much sushi lately, but my friend is always eating at sushi restaurants and he rated this the best sushi he'd ever had and he's been to Japan. We had a mixed plate and were very pleased with everything. Excellent service, food & prices. Definitely a go to sushi place in New York. Highly Recommended.

This was my first visit at Hatsuhana, taking a late lunch. The location is on 48th, the restaurants spans over two floors. I was seated on the second floor at the sushi bar. Six sushi chefs were preparing food, I was served by Chef Osada. The sushi was delicious, the preparation of the food exquisite. I was served by Waitress Nobuko with outstanding care. Overall a great experience, I'll come back!

Very busy restaurant and lots of very large groups. They do a great job of getting meals out quickly for large groups. However be aware even if your drinks aren’t finished they ask you to leave for the next reservations. Be aware there is no kids meals and there is no chicken or steak.

really good quality sushi and great flavor. but the price and dinner don't reflect the service I had. completely poor, since after having eaten our dishes and having removed the dishes, they presented us the bill without having asked for it! with a lot of rudeness, without even asking if we wanted anything else. and finally when I tried to tell the waiters, making me understand as much as possible because I don't have good English, they pretended not to understand. there is better in new york!

This spot was referred to me by a friend. The sushi is alright, I think what makes this place special is the layout and the plating. The wooden boxed presentation is quite unique and made the dining experience pretty memorable.

Not our first time here so whenever I have a special guest who wants Japanese food - Hatsuhana is the place to go. Easy to make a reservation and our table was ready when we got there (as the host assured me when I made the reservation - I said "we're only there for a lunch period". The place was clean, conversation was subdued, our food was fresh, as always. And the caveat ? we got out of there on time.

My friend and I visited one Friday night for this restaurant at the first time. Our reservation was 6pm and had a nice table across the counter on 2nd floor. Between the tables were not too narrow or wide and comfortable setting. We ordered glass of Sapporo draft beer, which was excellent, followed by a sake called “Nanbu Bijin” which was very smooth taste. As appetizers, we orders raw oyster. The size was big and it was very fresh!! We ordered Sushi Deluxe for main meal. Uni and Ikura sushi were included and all of sushi were excellent!! As a dessert, we shared mochi ice creams (mango, green tea and strawberries). They were perfect to finish the complete meal. Waiter was very nice and pleasant. We will definitely come back again!

I was visiting my sibling in NYC and we wanted great sushi that did not break the bank. We found it here! We split a couple of different entrees and had more than enough food for a fair price. I highly recommend the bento boxes with a different sushi piece to try in each box. It was so unique and delicious. The ambience is cozy and the customer service was friendly.

I was in the neighborhood and went for lunch, without a reservation. Normally, this would not be a good idea, but it's July, so many of their regular customers are on vacation, hence there was room at the upstairs sushi bar. Ordered the deluxe sushi plus a tamago and a o-Toro. Quality was excellent, and a bargain for the price. I first visited this place back in 1976, shortly after they first opened. I don't often visit as I am seldom in the area these days, but the visit was worth it.

It was a coincidence that we visited Hatsuhana, but we are very glad we did. This is a popular place so it is probably wise to book in advance. We arrived without having booked, but after only 5-10 minutes of waiting we got a table. The food was lovely and the waitress was very nice and friendly. Highly recommended, we will love to come back :-)

Went for the lunchtime special sashimi - 7 types of fish - all in perfect gleaming condition & presented to perfection. Even the accompanying ginger was delightfully flavoured with a succulent texture. They open midday. I arrived 5 past & had to wait 20 minutes but it was certainly worth the wait. Best to book. It is totally authentic. The meals just fly out. I easily finished within 45 minutes.

Very nice food and great service. Without reservation there was a nice table ready for us. A bit expensive though and small portions. But definitely to recommend.

Authentic restaurant in new york city Food was really good there are a lot of options on the menu. People were great and location was comfortable The quality of fish is really good. I advice you to try it

Been going here for 30 years every time we are in New York. The fish and sushi are still great. They are very accommodating and very friendly. It is definitely a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Had lunch at this restaurant with my wife and need to admit the taste was really good. How do i know? I am not a Japanese but i used to live in Japan more than 20 years in the past. Really would like to recommend “box of dream” if you have a chance to visit this restaurant. Oh yeah... please don’t forget to make a reservation. We were almost rejected by them since it was fully booked. We spent 100 dollar for 2 person (including tip for 15%)

Enjoyed a wonderful meal here last night. Food delicious and service excellent. Will definitely go again!

Had a fantastic meal here. The sashimi was so fresh (even the wasabi is home made)! Had a few rolls as well which were good, not the best, but we were more interested in the sushi. It isn't a place with 20 different specialty rolls. I think there were two on the menu. Otherwise, thought it was very reasonable as far as cost.

Came in on a Friday night for a friend’s birthday dinner with a reservation for 6:30 for a party of 7. We skipped the apps and went straight for the entrees. Prior to coming in, we all thought we wanted the box of dreams ($48). This is literally a box with 9 little bowls of at least 9 different varieties of sashimi, served over sushi rice. But then our waitress threw us for a loop and recommended the Sushi Deluxe ($45) - ten pieces of nigiri and a roll. I went with this one because I figured it would be less rice than the box. I really enjoyed it (except the ikura one, but I’m also not a fan of ikura). I’m also glad I ended up getting this one because the box of dreams had the cooked cold shrimp and the sweet egg thing, which I do not care for. My fiancé got the box (he liked it) and I still got my IG-worthy shot of it. At the end of the meal, they brought the birthday girl some mochi ice cream, so that was a nice touch. Next time, I may splurge and get their omakase (which at $100 for 15 pieces/$120 for 18 pieces is very reasonably priced, compared to a lot of other higher end sushi spots).

Very good restaurant with fresh products, the best wazabi we ever ate and a very good service. But busy and a bit pricy...

An amazing traditional Japanese establishment. Remember going to this place 49 years ago. Still one of the best. Box of Dreams is a great collection of dishes. Everything is simply very good.

Just walked in on a Fri night without a reservation. They have a small downstairs area for walk-ins and it was perfect. Casual space for dining alone on a biz trip. The food was fantastic, this is no ordinary seaweed salad. The service was top notch!

The place is not the most modern, although it is quite nice. Service is good, food is excellent with super high quality fish in anything you order. Don't expect modern rolls with crazy sauces, this is more of a traditional sushi place. For me the box of dreams is the best value, and best way to discover what they are able to do. 9 portions of raw fish each with their rice (chirashi style) for 45 USD. All the fishes were sublime, high quality, interesting and expensive cuts. I think they also change the content of the box based on what they have although some of the portions seem to be staples (Uni + Ikura for example) I've been going to Hatsuhana, almost every time I come to NYC for the last 25+ years. I started going there with my dad, and I cant wait to start bringing my daughter there. Hatsuana is this kind of place.

Excellent quality fish, excellent presentation, excellent service. Sat at the sushi bar and terrific atmosphere with the chefs engaging and enjoying life. Highly recommended

Hubby and I went for a very early dinner (5:30) and sat at the sushi bar. We had to be out of there by 6:15 for an event. The waitress was very attentive to our request for a bit of a rush. We didn't have drinks but did have the hot tea which was very good. The sushi is fresh, well-priced, serving sizes what I would expect. The atmosphere is quite nice and I would recommend sitting at the sushi bar if you are dining alone or in a pair. I would most definitely go back. Easy 5 min walk from Grand Central, too.

I thought it was nothing special. The atmosphere was hectic and the female servers seemed like they were getting bossed around by the males. The salmon skin roll was not particularly crispy or flavorful, and the spicy tuna did not have good tuna flavor.

loved the service - really nice people sake and plum wine fantastic. $46 for 180ml carafe of a very nice dry sake the sushi deluxe menu was nice but sushi lacked “the complex flavour”. It was flat rice and raw fish I am afraid The a la carte sushi was poor. Perhaps just my choices were bad. Mackerel too fishy. Others too hard

Excellent food. The menu was, for me at least, imaginative and comprehensive. I had to ask what a few things were which was a pleasant thing to have to do. The meals were super and beautifully presented, and what's more, the portion size was unexpectedly generous. We presented ourselves without reservations and the staff were very accommodating, even when we asked to move tables. Not sure we will have time to go back on this trip but revisiting this restaurant is filed away in my "Reasons to revisit NYC" folder.

The service was excellent, and prices were very good especially for New York. We just got maki rolls, and they were all wonderful. They offer you moist towels for your hands before and after dinner and include tea at the end of the meal. We will definitely be returning!

Very clean! Our waitress was very good, friendly, and knowledgeable of the menu. Great sushi!! Would return if in NYC. We were upstairs and good separation from others.

I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch of Sushi Deluxe Toku-Jo at Hatsuhana. The mix of toro, blue fin tuna, sea urchin and a variety of other sushi options was incredible.

Go here. You will thank me. Travel here by any means necessary! Yes, it is pricey, and worth every cent. The waitstaff is engaged and attentive. There are lots of sake options and the food is spectacular. I eat a lot of sashimi. I can’t think of another place where it melts in your mouth. The warm wash cloths are to encourage using your fingers. Spectacular sushi place

I had multiple sashimi chef sampler, i liked 7 of the 8 pieces, particularly the salmon, toro, and yellowtail. Attentive service.

I've been coming here for years. Easy to dine as a solo traveler, and it's in a good midtown location. The reception can be gruff, but the service is usually friendly. The best bet is the sushi special for dinner - you get to chose 10 pieces and a roll at a very reasonable price. The food is not remarkable, but it is good and a reasonable value for NY.

This is the only good sushi/value for Midtown Manhattan. Always busy, always rushed, factory turnover feel... Sushi is good quality.

For one evening we had dinner on the rooftop of our hotel taking a take away from this restaurant. Very good !!! You order and pay on their site, good variety and prices in the New York average. Just be careful because they close at 9pm. For the rest, at the pick up time our package was already ready and we didn't have to wait.

The sushi was cut professionally and very fresh. My wife and I had Abalone, scallop, tuna nigiri and Chirashi don, shrimp tempura and deep fried soft shell crab. My 10 and 7 years-old sons had maki dinner and unagi cucumber roll. All were of great quality. Our server Koko was very attentive and gave us good recommendations regarding the fish in season. He also helped in explaining to my sons how sharing the dessert order would be just the right portion for each. He even cut the Mochi ice creams in halves so they wouldn’t fight for them. I should have given him more tips than I did! P.S. the manager chased us down the road to return to us the newly purchased LEGO set that my son left at the table. Good service overall!

Tried the house specialty with the intriguing title box of dreams which is a bento box filled with nine different cuts of fish with rice and fruit or herbal accents. The flavors were fresh and wonderfully subtle and the nine combinations made for a memorable dining experience. I also tried the special desert which was a combination of tea ice cream, gelatin, red bean sauce, fresh fruit, and sticky rice. An interesting and delicious combination. Considering the bill (minus tip) was $60, this represents a rare find in Manhattan: a high quality sushi restaurant that is moderately priced. Excellent all around.

The sushi was very delicious and our waitress was so friendly and curteous. They are very fast in bringing the food. I would definetly recoment the Miso soup.

One of the best sushi bars I’ve been to in some time. The service was fabulous and the sushi was as fresh as it comes. I was on my own in NYC so this was a great place if you are flying solo on business. Will definitely be back.

We were a family of four with teenage kids who all had different appetizers and entrées. We were all very satisfied with both food and service. Very fresh and beautiful food.

Excellent for a quick lunch. Didnt have reservations but got seated within 5 minutes. Food came super fast. Staff friendly. The food itself was delicious and was not filled with mayonnaise and a lot of sauces that makes meals super heavy and you lose the authenticity

Delicious food, fresh fish with generous cuts in the maki rolls. Homemade wasabi. Our server attended to all our needs. Excellent value for the price.

the food and service is excellent special sashimie thank you every one and special thanks to chief , It is s pleasure to eat in a restaurant where the sound level is low and it is easy to carry on a conversation with people at your table. Service is excellent and friendly thank you Evey one

They do not families. They lied to us telling that would close soon, but the true is they didn't want to take us. What a terrible thing to do with the customers.

Had a lovely meal with my wife here before going to a show on Broadway. Our waiter was excellent; friendly and knowledgable. Highly recommend.

Very good sushi, service nothing extraordinary and rude at the end. Tips are not an obligation, and the servers have to earn them by providing an adequate quality of service, server tried to confront and tell us how much server should be tipped, apparently not enough she got (which is unacceptable), won’t come back.

Great place to eat Japanese food. Very kind staff. Kudos to the waiter from Pakistan, he was a great host. Great food and pleasant atmosphere. A table must be reserved in advance.

The food and service were good. The tempura was excellent. The edamame I would stay away from it was cold and stale. The sushi rolls were very fresh. The service was good. The atmosphere of the place is very annoying- they play no background music so you hear everything everyone else is saying and even more annoying is the constant use by the managers/maitre des of there old time walkie talkies. It’s a constant squealing followed by them yelling into them.

Good quality and reasonable prices, especially for sushi deluxe "toku jo". It's a bit hectic / busy and rushed around lunch time, but meal quality is excellent.

I love Hatsuhana for lunch. While its a popular business lunch place and pin stripe suits may be all around you, they will welcome you in a t-shirt as well. The deluxe lunch sushi box is a great way to go for lunch. Fresh fish is never inexpensive so if you want a cheap sushi lunch go to a supermarket. But without totally breaking the bank if you want excellent quality fish, Hatsuhana is perfect. $50 will buy you a great lunch but you could do with less than that. Ask for seared tuna or cod or salmon if thats what you like and don't see it on the menu. If you find they have oysters as a special on the menu, don't miss out on them.

I was lucky enough to snag the very last seat during a busy lunch hour and was seated at the bar. I ordered their Box of Dreams and was impressed with the presentation and the taste. However, my server only came by twice, once to take my order and once to give me the check and it was impossible to order anything else for a few reasons. First, the sushi chefs were, understandably, too busy to take care of the sushi bar customers. Second, the wait staff was too busy to tend to the sushi bar, because they too were busy. So be aware and go knowing that you might not receive the service you expect for a pricey lunch. If you go with that in mind, you should be able to enjoy the great food. I highly suggest making reservations!

Real authentic sushi in New York. I was just in Japan and ate at many good sushi restaurants and this restaurant would still be one of my favorites.

Sushi and staff is exceptional good. Maria was one of the best table server I’ve ever had. Sushi very fresh.

One of the best sushi places un NY. The place is not fancy or confortable. It is real japanese ambience. Sushi is done in front of you with the best fish , by japanese cooks. Yummy.

I went here for lunch, as my companion and I had decided on Sushi for lunch and we were near Rockefeller Plaza. After bringing up nearby restaurants on a Yelp app, it seemed that this restaurant was well rated, so we decided to go in and have a look at the menu. We intended to look at the menu, but instead were immediately shown to a table. We shared a Bento Box and ordered an extra bowl of miso soup, as we both had a light appetite that day. The miso soup seemed especially bland to my palate, and the tofu was rather soft. The bento box consisted of 6 pieces of sashimi and our choice of two rolls (from a scanty list of about ten rolls to choose from) and one miso soup. The very polite and unobtrusive waiter kindly brought out extra ginger (non-pickled) and wasabi upon our request. There are lovely little soy sauce jars on the table, however this restaurant unfortunately did not offer a low sodium soy sauce option. I hadn't realized how much sodium there seems to be in the regular soy sauce, since I've been using low sodium for many many years, and wow, it was salty! The salty taste dominated the entire meal for me, and as a result, I could barely taste the sushi itself. I guess that's why the miso soup was the way it was. The restaurant itself was quite lovely. Decorations were beautiful and traditional, lovely fountain, wood paneling giving the place a really classy feel to it. The restaurant is generally quiet, but you do feel comfortable to talk. There were chopstick rests on the table, which is a nice touch since many Japanese restaurants have unfortunately decided to forgo them for some reason that puzzles me. Be aware, if you have mobility issues, the bathrooms are upstairs and I am not aware of any elevators. Ultimately, we wouldn't have stayed for lunch if we had had an opportunity to look at the menu, as I was looking for a place to just order a couple of rolls, and their roll selection seemed quite limited to me. I only gave it a rating of two out of five because of the flavor of the miso soup, the fact that they don't have low sodium soy sauce (and what restaurant doesn't in this day and age), and the very limited menu.

Came in here at 7p and it was busy here. It’s a pretty big restaurant. The first floor goes pretty deep and they have 2nd floor where the sushi bar is located. The lighting and decor is perfect. It’s if it was frozen in time in NYC circa mid 1970s! I love it. Both floors and bar were packed. And for good reason, food here is quite tasty and cheap. 18 piece Omakase under $200. Really good deal tho don’t expect Toro or other expensive ingredients but they did serve Uni. The only thing that needs improvement is the service but they are quite busy and probably under staffed. Bar is fully staffed with four sushi chefs. This is a very pretty restaurant that probably hasn’t changed since 1976 so a nice piece of NYC history.

Food: mostly sushi because this is a sushi restaurant. Competent selection of seafood: 3 grades of tuna (O-toro, chu-toro, akami), silver skinned fish, shellfish. If you like sushi, you will enjoy the variety of taste & texture. Service: excellent. We asked for a table for 8 (4 adults, 4 children) with a view of the sushi bar, they seated us exactly where we wanted to be. Decor: looks like a sushi restaurant in Tokyo. Atmosphere: many people having business dinners, or a nice dinner out, a family would not feel out of place. Value: Excellent. NYC is in a sushi renaissance. Investors are luring chefs from Japan to make high end sushi restaurants (e.g. Nakazawa, Noz). High end sushi is nice for a date night, but for a family meal -- Hatsuhana hits the sweet spot on authentic offering at a reasonable price.

I’ve been here few years ago with a friend and since I had good memories I returned with my wife to check if my memory didn’t deceive me. Well... it didn’t. It is a small place, seating area is on the ground floor and bar on the second. Good and quiet atmosphere. We were served by a nice smiley waitress, who made our dining very pleasant. The sushi was excellent, fresh and nicely cut. Deserts were surprisingly good as well. We had one very good home made small dumplings with green tea ice cream and red bean sauce on top and one not hot made - 3 types of mochi. With a carafe of sake and before service, we paid 136$. Very good place for sushi.

I enjoyed very much my dinner in Hatsuhana! The service was great, the food and sake excellent. Very high quality sushi, at very reasonable prices.

Visited here amongst many other sushi places on my regular work trips to new york. The price is a little higher than some other places, but you get what you pay for. The fish itself was amazing. We went with the option to allow the chef to choose a mixture of nigiri (I can't even remember whether this was an option on the menu, or whether it was just offered to us) but I'd recommend taking this option since it meant we got the freshest, high quality options that they had on offer for the evening. It was also a chance to try something new! Quite a chilled vibe, and felt that there was a good mix of professionals, tourists and locals.

Even the miso soup was rich and delicious and different than most sushi restaurants! All of our fish was fresh and delicious. No bad after taste or odor (which is always a sign of fresh or not fresh...) The box of dreams is the way to go. The rice perfectly sticky. Wonderful service. Loved our sake recommendation. And we really liked that the decor appears to be original making it feel like a genuine sushi experience. Highly recommend.

Booked because my husband loves sushi...not really my thing, but I loved everything I ventured to try. Sushi is great quality for even the most pickiest of fish eaters. Beautiful presentation. Box of dreams had enough “beginner” pieces of sushi for me and more advanced stuff for my husband. Service was efficient and Emily was so sweet and pleasant. Recommend this sushi spot, which has been open since the 70’s...for good reason.

My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years now. The quality has remained unchanged. We always sit at the sushi bar upstairs. The selection of sushi and sashimi are always wonderful. The cooked food is also very good. We have eaten all over Japan. This restaurant is definitely authentic. The service is amazing. The only downside is that the good sashimi and sushi are expensive but hey its worth it. At this restaurant you get what you pay. We highly recommend this restaurant as a sushi bar.

I was looking to go with my girlfriend to a place with a good sushi. in TripAdvisor they have a good rate so we though to give it a try. I will start by saying than when u entered there is horrible small of fish. That should give us a red light but we try it any way . The waiter recommend deluxe something and we order that with a few more sushi rolls. That was NOT a good food and, In general, we eat a lot of sushi. We barely finish half so we just go after to different restaurant. The food was not eatable and also looks like not fresh. We also order a misu soup ( that was good) and adamame.the whole bill was 103$. Since we didn’t enjoy the food, didn’t finish it , we also ask for only kosher fish and the waiter bring us yellowtail fish that is not kosher. we left only 7$ tip. The reason that I am leaving the bad review is that when we go out the waiter grab my hand and tell me that we didn’t left enough tip. Dude that not 100$ meal that more like 30-40$ meal max. Not fresh not tasty. Bad small . I should prob return the dish from the beginning. Will definitely not coming back and not sure how this place get rate so high. Really not sure

Very tradicional. Sushi and Sashimi amazing. Service very good as well. The chef’s selection of sashimi is amazing and all “fat fish” not only the salmon but tuna and fat white fish melt in the mouth

Get the box of dreams. Don't even hesitate. This is always my go-to restaurant for sushi, sashimi, chirashi and tekka don. They always use the best and fresh fish.

Popped in during a shopping stroll on 5th avenue as a friend told me to try. Dined on the ground floor and loved the “box of dreams” a box with 9 different sashimi that was absolutely great. First floor is spacious and could be nice to sit at the bar though I really felt I was back in Japan for a minute

Remarkably, this sushi place has been in existence since 1976. My husband has been going for years and I suspect he sneaks in a few nights a week after work even today. We had eaten here once before and eaten at a table. It was a good experience, with good traditional sushi, but I had to write about the experience of sitting at the bar and ordering the chef's special. The bar service was exceptional. We enjoyed watching the chef work, chatting with him, and eavesdropping on other conversations about sushi. The fish was very fresh (of course) and prepared simply and in a traditional way. The chef takes great pride in his work. Attentive service. It is expensive. Maybe I should be upset my husband is dining here without me!

Was looking forward to extraordinary Japanese food but was disappointed. Service was slow and spotty. Small portions, not generous for the money.

Probably the best Japanese restaurant far and wide. It's been a long time since I ate so well. Plus a great Service

Went in on a whim and so glad to have had a wonderful sushi experience! The lunch menu is very fulfilling and very fresh. I'm always hesitant to have sushi in the city as it usually doesn't compare to the sushi in California, where I'm accustomed to. However, this restaurant absolutely measured up! Highly recommend and will definitely return again & again!

Excellent traditional sushi restaurant in Midtown. Has been around for decades and still going strong. Always crowded. They do a large lunch business. Traditional style sushi and rolls. All very fresh, very good quality. They do a very good take out job, all the sushi is nicely packed in attractive boxes. Great option in midtown.

Sat front of Osada chef, everything was just right, perfect sushi ! Fish were so fresh and well prepared. Can’t go wrong !! Highly recommended.

We came to this restaurant for late lunch on a working Friday. It was around 1:30 when we arrived and it was still extremely busy. We ordered sushi lunch and sushi special from the lunch menu. They are both excellent. The quality of the fish was amazing. The regular tuna tastes better than most of the fatty tuna I had from elsewhere. I know the waiting staff is very busy with the crowd but still the service and attitude can be improved. It is part of the overall dining experience, it can otherwise discount the great quality of the food.

This is by far the best sushi I’ve ever eaten. We did omakase with Chef Osada and it was truly unbelievable. The fish was SO fresh. The flavors were so delicious and unique. It gave my husband goosebumps (literally). If you really love sushi, you have to try this place. Amazing!!!

Excellent sushi and sashimi, aesthetically presented, with attentive service. Tempura was flavorful and perfectly cooked.

Really enjoyed this place. Great omakase (sushi and sashimi). Style is clean and simple with focus on fish -not on mayo and crispy thing. Bit pricy though -with moderate amunt of beer and wine the bill came to over 700 incl gratuity Overall would come back

Not a tourist place, real and good sushi for regulars. Very fresh and well portioned. Higher price is worth it.

Super friendly staff that took every detail in greatest consideration, and the sushi was out of this world! Absolutely recommend!

Pick this place because it is very close to the hotel we stay. The sushi and sashimi is just soso. The presentation of the plate is also not very exciting. The sake is not bad. Service is good!

If the title doesn't say it all then I'll add call ahead or get a reservation as it's very busy at all hours.

Sushi and sashimi are sublime. Service tops. Reservations a must. Prices fair for top drawer quality. Attractive surroundings and low noise level. Only better place is Roku Roku in Tokyo.

My daughter and I got the sushi lunch and felt completely sated. Service was courteous and the fish was just as fresh as could be. We had barbequed eel sushi for dessert. Sitting at the sushi bar was lots of fun.

Fresh and well presented products But being European we are not used to restaurant so quiet and closing so early

We have been regulars here ( and live in the City)for over 30 years having taken our kids, grandkids and many friends. We have never been disappointed! Consistently excellent traditional sushi/sashimi. It is s pleasure to eat in a restaurant where the sound level is low and it is easy to carry on a conversation with people at your table. Service is excellent and friendly.

I ate here for lunch and had the box of dreams. The food was extremely fresh and one of the best Sushi restaurants I have eaten at! The service was extremely good! I normally would order just the basic rolls and had this which was a little out of my comfort zone but I was VERY pleasantly surprised! I would eat here again!!!

Great experience, loved the menu and atmosphere. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Also very clean, overall we loved it

Visited Hatsuhana two times during my stay in NYC. Hatsuhana offers really great and affordable sushi.

This was the 2-nd restaurant we've visited till our NY trip and it was phenomenal. We both love the Asian cuisine so we couldn't have missed it. Our choice was the box of dreams. It was very well presented with herbal accents and charmly decorated with flowers. The restaurant is moderately priced and perfectly serviced. It is a rare find and the sushi fans should give it a try.

We ordered a spicy crunchy maki plate and the avocado lovers plate - both were tasty. They also provided free tea throughout, which was a nice touch. We went early in the evening so service was quick.

My husband and I really enjoy sushi. We've had it many places in the USA and even in Tokyo, so we have a pretty wide field for comparison. I am writing the following review from experience, not only of dining at Hatsuhana but of how it ranks among similar sushi restaurants. Hatsuhana is the best sushi restaurant we have ever encountered in New York City. That's the simple truth. We're not the only diners who feel this way and I strongly advise that you make a reservation so you won't miss out. Whether for dinner or lunch, every seat is taken. People know what's good! The quality and freshness of the food is second to none. The chefs are true artists. On our most recent visit I had the tekka don and the tuna was delectable, as was every part of the dish. It was also beautifully presented. I've already mentioned how busy Hatsuhana is but even so, we never felt rushed or overlooked. Service was attentive and we felt truly welcomed. Whenever we had a question, our server had the answer and gave it patiently and graciously. Hatsuhana has some dishes that are as savory as they are intriguing. Who wouldn't want to try a Box of Dreams? I can't describe it and do it justice though I did order it in the past and was completely satisfied. So beautiful and so good! Please check out Hatsuhana's menu on their webpage to see more about this. We will be returning to Hatsuhana later this month to celebrate my birthday. I could not ask for a better gift!

Reserved a table for two as this place is popular. Restaurant is clean and attractive with Japanese decor. Our waiter was very helpful and attentive. He provided various recommendations and explained the menu. We both ordered various sushi. It was very fresh and tasted wonderful. Thoroughly recommend if you want sushi, but make the reservation.

We visit NY twice a year and we always dine at Hatsuhana - usually the first night since we can’t wait to get there. We travel extensively and we often seek out local Japanese restaurants as it is one of our favorite cuisines. Hatsuhana is one of out top five restaurants in the world. It offers great food, service and ambience. I always feel that the fish I’m dining in was swimming that morning. You just can’t miss here.

I found this place by chance and it becomes my favourite Japanese in ny The box of dream is absolutely a must have

I always wonder why Sushi in well considered Japanese restaurants in NY do not taste as well as in considerably cheaper restaurants in Japan. The four of us had mainly sushi and sashimi. Are the fish not as fresh as in Japan ? Or do they use defrosted fish? I do not know the answer, but the sensation is always of disappointment with the lack in richness of flavor which needs to be overcome with more soy sauce and wasabi. The place is clean and pleasant, so I cannot recommend to avoid it, but if you have a good source of truly fresh fish, just make your own sashimi at home from the best parts, and then use to rest of the fish for a delicious soup.

Like every year we went to our regular Japanese restaurant in New York City. We have been enjoying Hatsuhana for many many years. We often travel to Japan and are fond of their amazing cuisine. Sadly this late visit was a disappointment. The fish (sushi and sashimi) wasn't so tasty and the rice was too dry. On the other hand, the Miso soup was amazing! And finally the check was really high.

Stopped in right at the end of the lunch seating for a late lunch. Had a roll and some sashimi. Fish was very good, better than most places. You can tell with the first bite that they find top shelf seafood. Pricey for lunch, but worth it.

The ambiance was simple, elegant yet unpretentious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly but not hovering. The sushi was phenomenal. I didn't expect it to be some of the best sushi I ever had. Each bite had my teeth sinking into a butter-like consistency with an explosion of freshness in each mouthful. I've walked by this place for years but never walked inside until today. Definitely worth a return trip!

The $30 lunch was amazing. You get 8 sushi plus a roll. My 8 sushi included a toro and a blue fin tuna, as well as other high quality fish. The eel roll was pretty good as well!

I had lunch with a friend before a matinee at the Hudson Theater, and it was excellent in every way. Warm welcome; prompt, friendly service; delicious, super-fresh sushi. Although I'm late in discovering this midtown gem, I hope to return soon for dinner. Very popular. Be sure to make a reservation far enough in advance to secure your place at this very special restaurant.

I had a couple of issues here that somewhat soured my experience. I went during lunch by myself and I was seated at the corner of the counter not close to the itamaes. It appears that there is a rank order for the itamaes with the more senior and Japanese itamae on the other end with the apprentices and roll maker at the other. When I asked about going okonomi (opposite of omakase), I was rudely told to use the checkoff list. OK, no problem. And then I watched the itamae in front of me making maki rolls one after the other with what appeared to be scraps rather than cutting the fish for each order. There was a stack of ends, scraps in a heap and all they did was use these for the makis. A proper maki would have a long strip cut so the patron wouldn't be eating a mush in their tekka maki or salmon roll. So there was no distinct akami flavor in the tekka, just a hot mess. The rest of the order was mediocre, even with the uni gunkan, it was very anemic and just absolutely tiny for what they were asking for. The overall place was hectic, frenetic and it didn't help I was sitting next to the entrance to the kitchen where the servers were barking orders right behind me. The decor is dated and the service is just frantic. I was very disappointed with the whole experience and it felt like one of those fast casuals instead of a legitimate sushi restaurant. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a high end sushi experience.

Excellent lunch at this typical Japanese restaurant. Efficiency, perfect execution of the meals, smiles and courtesy. We felt like New Yorkers working around and came here for their lunch :-) Perfect. Thank you again.

The experience in this place was highly disappointing. The fully focus of the restaurant seems to be on the fresh and quality of their product, which you'll get in a tiny, decorated and overpriced crumb. If you have lots of money to waste, this place could be ok, but if you value your money, it's not worthy.

I have been several times at this place. Location is getting older and may be a makeover would be good for it. I have to say that, this is a super-expensive place. Nevertheless, after visit several sushi places in Bogota I have no doubt the best sashimi you can get in.bogota is.at this place. Nevertheless compared with other.countries, it is just average. Despite the fact.now. you can.find sushi places in Bogota, we are still pretty far from a decent place. Hope we can get good sashimi and a reasonables prices soon.

My wife (from Japan) has wanted to try this restaurant for years. When we were back for Hamilton, this was our pre-show dinner. It was fantastic. It is everything you want in a restaurant. Food, service and ambiance were outstanding. Ok - maybe you want a little lighter bill - but the food was great.

I last visited Hatsuhana for dinner pre-pandemic and was eager to see if this NYC institution had kept up with the high bar it set last time. I was not disappointed. We made a reservation for 2 and when we showed up 10 minutes before our scheduled time, it was already busy in the downstairs reception area. There were a couple waiting for takeout, and several walkins without reservations. It’s always a great sign when a restaurant is busy. We were seated upstairs in a corner for 2, and our server, Chris, did a great job keeping all the tables in our area happy. Fish - top notch, including the O-toro sashimi. Rolls were fresh and well constructed. The black cod to die for. Thanks again for another wonderful meal! Will be back again next time we’re in NYC.

Delicious! Fresh, fresh, fresh. The three words for sushi. Presented well, quiet restaurant (hard to find in NYC), well priced.i will return.

Japanese restaurant with Japanese staff. Since it was almost impossible to get a table for lunch without a reservation, we made a reservation for the next day. We tried the Box of Fantasies and the Gozen and didn't regret it. The food and the quality of the fish were exceptionally good. The tuna was tender as butter, everything was freshly made. The rice was as it should be in a Japanese restaurant. The service was very friendly and the tap water was drinkable, didn't taste at all of chlorine, as is usual. The prices are fair for Manhattan in my opinion. We've eaten much worse for the same money.

All is perfect in this place, the fresh food amazing ad te prices are ok. Good service, thanks we will be back

The best sushi artfully prepared!
Wonderful selection including more rare offerings such as abalone and giant clam. My family ate at the sushi bar and enjoyed the precision and beauty as the sushi chefs took great care in their preparation of each sushi/sashimi item. Incredible chutoro and yellowtail. Nice sake menu and service was impeccable. I could eat here nightly if my pocketbook allowed! Definitely some of the best sushi around!
