Stopped at this bar/restaurant on our first day in New York for lunch. It’s got a cool vibe and the food is even better. The reviews don’t lie. I just had small bites since we had dinner reservations and were going to a Broadway show. My husband and I shared the deviled eggs with tobika on top. They were creamy good. My husband had tacos, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the bone marrow appetizer. Living in Chicago I’m used to restaurants with elevated food, but this was by far the best bone marrow I’ve ever had. Very generous in portion, roasted to perfection topped with a bit of scrambled eggs. It was served with grilled bread. Service was a bit slow because the girl waiting tables was both bartender and waiting tables outside and inside, but since Covid staffing seems to be an issue at some restaurants and you have to be patient. Hold Fast had a great bar selection including some top shelf hard to find bourbons. Recommend for a casual place to eat.

Stopped by Hold Fast after arriving late in NYC, looking for a couple of drinks and appetizers. The servers were all very friendly, and the cocktails and charcuterie board were delicious. Wanted to come back another night during our stay but sadly, not enough time.

Great wings. Cheese board too. Quick and friendly service. Had food envy for everything else that was coming out of the kitchen too :)

I stopped in before a 3 pm theater show. The Ceviche was tasty and a reasonable portion ($10). An Excelsior Cabernet ($10) was also good. For COVID safety I sat in the entryway table area.

Kale and quinoa salad was very good. Added ahi tuna. Service was very good; great recommendations. Inside is tight. Outside is better, has heaters.

We found this small restaurant on Yelp as there were very few resumes on Trip Advisor. The food is excellent the steak on toast and chicken wings were magic. Salat with strawberry and cheese so fresh as never before. Service is fine or sufficient as you can order in the bar or wait a few minutes then they come to your table. Price is fair compared to quality

We were looking for a place to each after a show. The place was busy which is always a good sign. There were no places inside but we could get a table outside under the heater and it was quite warm. We split the guac, steak taco, and had two Wash Damn Hands cocktails. The food was fantastic and drinks were quite good. We will be back to try more cocktails.

Great place. Very reasonably priced food. Fantastic and friendly service. Great atmosphere. The devilled eggs were amazing. We had fish and chips, burger, wings and all really good. The espresso martini with marshmellows was spectacular and came with its own little show of the bartender lighting the marshmellow to melt into the drink. Highly recommend a visit here and will definitely go back next time I'm in New York.

Been here a couple of times, whenever in NYC (normally visit pre-show). Great beer list. Easy to pop in for a relaxed beverage. Appreciated that the bathrooms are now gender neutral. Makes it easier for all.

interesting bar in nyc. great cheeses and meat. also good burger. very busy place but very friendly staff. I am from MN and I liked it a lot!

This is a great little spot on Restaurant Row in Midtown, nearby to the Theater District. We had tickets to a show, so we looked for something easy, fun, and relatively quick. This place fit the bill and we would recommend it to others. They had cool and inventive cocktails, as well as good happy hour beers. They don’t really have a full menu, but some excellent appetizers to nosh on with your drinks. We loved the chicken wings the most, as the dry rub was very flavorful and better than anything you would get at one of those chain joints. Their deviled eggs were also quite sublime. I recommend this for drinks and a quick bite, especially if you have to catch a show. Enjoy!

Service was absolutely terrible! Took forever to get drinks and food. Way under staffed. The food was great once it arrived.

Excellent Spot in NYC, absolutely great Burgers, Service was very nice and it was also Not that expensive. I recommend this a lot!! 👍💯

actually visited november 2017 but couldn’t remember the name of the place - just found it now and i’m ecstatic ! absolutely INCREDIBLE staff that go above and beyond ! felt welcome and cozy right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of nyc !!! the man behind the bar was just excellent (wish i could remember his name!!!) and made special drinks for us!!! you don’t feel like a tourist here at all (which is nice and uncommon in the middle of new york!) and you truly feel like a local! not to mention great vibe and fantastic food ! please please do not overlook this great little homely place ! we all just loved it - and still talk about it to this day - truly made our trip !!! - i’m sure we will be back this year :)

Oh my goodness me the food is DIVINE. And the cocktails so yummy too - we literally stumbled upon this place with zero expectations and wow wow wow the customer service, everything was so great! Will deffo come back when I’m in NY! Please never take the loaded fries off the menu SO GOOD

Came for a late dinner after a show. Great service, Two of us had the Steak Frites, which were surprisingly good for the price. Maybe a bit undercooked to requested temp though. Fries were delicious. Hand cut, in house. Also, fish and chips, which our friend said he enjoyed. Very convenient to shows buy away from the chaos.

My friend works in NYC and I went over for a visit and he took me to this bar. Really friendly staff, very genuine feel to the bar and the staff. Great range of drinks, and a great food menu. Take a seat at the bar and get chatting with the guys Chris & Shane! Made me feel so welcome, next time I’m in NYC I will be back there for a drink or 3!

Stopped in after matinee at theatre. Prices were excellent and food even better!!! Would definitely go there again.

Sat down at the bar expecting to have a quiet drink, but before I knew it, I was speaking with the bartender, chatting about nothing and not realizing he was one of the owners. I ordered a couple of pork tacos, which arrived quickly and without fanfare—delicious! If you are anywhere near this place and looking for that hidden gem in NYC, this is the place to go! Thanks, Chris!

Good value for money. Several meal options from healthy to tasty (and both too!). Good service and fair price considering this is NY

Stopped in for a late night drink and a bite of food. Sat at the bar and enjoyed chatting with one of the owners. The wait staff was hustling and it was getting busier and busier as the night moved on. Their menu is semi-eclectic and not too long, but very good. As far as drinks, the beer list is short but quality. What stands out among their drinks are some of the unique cocktails they make. One that stood out for us was based on Buffalo Trace infused with smoke--really top notch. Hold Fast has a great vibe and is absolutely super! When we get back to NYC, we will certainly stop by!

Went there in between shows over the weekend. Jason and Shane were great. Miscommunication with a drink order and they rolled with it. Meats and Cheese board too expensive for the amount of food. But hey, with four dollar Miller Highlife available, everything works out!

In NYC on a Sunday for lunch before a 2pm show. Saw good reviews, decided to check it out. Excellent brunch menu - and anytime of day menu. Our table enjoyed a chicken sandwich, chicken and waffles and Chilaquiles. Had a number of cocktails and an IPA and all excellent. Great atmosphere and vibe. Star of the day was Charlie, our server. From menu suggestions to light conversation, made our experience at Hold Fast a great one. We will be back before our next show.

The staff are so friendly here! The owner is lovely and so are his staff. They work hard to make you experience enjoyable. They gave me a free sample of a drink as i was unsure what i wanted. The atmosphere of this place is also unreal! We ended up loving the atmosphere so much that we came back the next day for food. I enjoyed my food and it wasn’t so heavy which was very nice! I cant recommend this place enough!

unpretenious, unassuming, but not dirty like most hole-in-the-wall bars. Bartender/owner is super friendly, easy to talk to, but most of all knows his cocktails. Loaded fries were unexpectedly amazing. This would be my secret hideout if I lived nearby.

Happy hour this is the place to go. Everyone had a good time and the music great. Can't wait to go again great prices.

Delicious little restaurant in Hell's Kitchen, discovered while walking. Very special menu, cozy and characteristic atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Great food and great variety, both meat and fish, normal prices for the area. Consigliatissimo!

This feels like a neighborhood bar. In a city where fancy pants million dollar beverages are the rage, this is a cozy neighborhood joint w a lot of wood (bar, tables, stools etc) that feels well worn. A dart board, friendly bartender, reasonable prices and decent grub, too.

We've been 3-4 times in the past year, either before a show or after. This place is a find!!! The fact that they're open late and still serving food works well after seeing a show. The staff is friendly, quick, and the food is great. Shoutout to Ethan who was our server twice :):) Also, the location is perfect if you're in the Times Square area.

I met a friend here after seeing separate Broadway shows. I had a frozen watermelon-flavored cocktail (I think it was seasonal) and some loaded fries. My drink was super refreshing on a hot summer night! The fries were perfectly cooked and crispy before being heaped with toppings so they held up to all the saucy goodness. I’ve always heard good things about Hold Fast and I’m glad I got to try it finally!

Looking for a light american fare and finding ourselves closer to this venue, we thought of visiting. Although food was fair service was lacking. I found myself flagging personnel for a refill on my beer glass and for some more bread. The place is noisy but worse yet is that it was too dark. Could barely see what I was eating and I really like to see what my food looks like not in the shadows. On of the orders came out wrong. I attribute that to the noise. The server could not hear!

Amazing bar with awesome service and great cocktails. We enjoyed this bar so much, we visited 2 times during one afternoon. The server Rocco was absolutely amazing and I definitely recommend requesting him. This bar is a must if you're in the area. Highly recommend due to the quality of the cocktails and the prices in comparison to everywhere else in NYC.

I love this bar. Definitely one of my favorites in the plethora that Hells kitchen has to offer. A very warm and fun environment, very friendly staff (Jason and Chris are both amazing) and quick service. A must if you're in the neighborhood

Great little bar for drinks and a place to eat. Friendly. Drinks reasonably priced and well made. They have an excellent meat and cheese platter. I would definitely recommend ordering the steak on toast.. Your adventure some try some bone marrow with a shot.

We hate a 1 pm reservation here before a matinee show on a Sunday. We were seated inside at a very small table. Our waitress Liz came over to get our drink orders. You use your phone to scan the QR code on the table to access the menu. We ordered two bloody marys which were very good and only $7 ea which is great for NYC. We decided to share 3 appetizers, the wings, deviled eggs and cerviche. They all arrived pretty quickly and look amazing. We had to remove the items from the table to make room for the food. The deviled eggs were very creamy. The cerviche was very small with just 6 shrimp with chips, but with a $10 price tag was ok. The wings had a dry rub on them and some kind of sauce drizzled over them in the kitchen. They were unlike any we have had before but were delicious. All in all, this was a good restaurant.

Great find on restaurant row In NYC. Warm atmosphere and great drink specials Owners greeted us all like long lost friends!! This is a gem of a bar with a cozy warm inviting atmosphere. Wish we would of stayed for dinner! You must try the Peanut Butter Whiskey—delicious!!!! Drinks are reasonably priced-do not miss this gem!!!!

So glad we decided to try Hold Fast. From the time we walked in the door to the time we left it was an excellent experience. I have to give a big Thank You to the Manager Brian (I hope I got his name correct) who personally waited on us and couldn't have done any more to make our lunch enjoyable. The food was amazing with big portions, and the vibe of the venue was very laid back and comfortable. We will definitely be headed back to Hold Fast the next time we are in New York!

We stopped by after a Broadway Show, since the kitchen was open till 2am. The bar was plenty busy, but we were able to find an open table. Bartenders were friendly, but definitely busy. Ordered the cheese plate and it was one of the best we've ever had. Definitely recommend this bar. We came back a few days later just because of the cheese plate!

Hold Fast! Oh, how I loved thee! We were STARVING after our show and found this spot on a fluke on a Monday night. Didn't really know what to expect and it exceeded all of our expectations. Great, late-night elevated bar food menu and outstanding drink program. It's smallish so we were seated at the bar, where we met the amazing bartender Brittany (sp?) She convinced me to get their Old-Fashioned -- the "Okey Smokey" and it made my night. Handcrafted, classic cocktail made with the utmost care. I also had the bbq chicken tacos and the ahi tuna tacos and they were all winners. Perfect complement to those cocktails. Truly excellent food and service. We were well taken care of and I can't wait to return the next time I'm in NYC!

So my friend and I met up for a quick bite at Hold Fast and with it being our first time, we didn’t know what to expect with the limited menu options. However, the online reviews were excellent so we went with anticipation. We ordered the steak on toast and the chicken and waffles. Wow, both meals were delectable and well presented. The chef was very kind and courteous. There isn’t much of a service per se. It seems like it’s a very casual place where you order at the bar and it gets delivered to your table. We ended up ordering another steak on toast because it was just so juicy and tasty. My only complaint and it isn’t really much of a complaint is that they should offer bigger plate options because I would eat it all. Love this place now and it’s easily accessible from the train and bus stations. Definitely plan to go back soon.

As a native New Yorker, this is quickly becoming my favorite place to bring travelers. Great food, drinks, owners = bartenders, friendly staff, and super close to Times Square and the theater district. Despite the touristy location, this is definitely a neighborhood bar. Give it a shot if you're in the area!

This is a nice place to meet up with friends if you’re planning on a long evening out, heading to a show or even to spend a couple of hours. The bar area is a little tight for moving around and finding a seat. Very friendly staff.

Best Old Fashioned! I sampled 2 of their old fashioned offerings and they were both delicious. Great vibe, great service.

The cocktails are very good. The fried burrata small plate is delicious. The entrees we had (burger and steak frites) were adequate. The service is attentive.

We got lost in Hell’s Kitchen looking for a trendy restaurant that was advertised at our Hotel. As we passed by a couple of Yokels smoking on their front steps and chatting with each other over the stair-rail between them we asked for directions. They told the restaurant we were looking for was around here somewhere but we should go to Their favorite place instead. They directed us to the basement apartment just next to them. We turned down the steps and saw a small sign -Hold Fast- I knew it would be good when I couldn’t see anything from IKEA and I knew It would be great when I saw that all of the tables were hand made or up-cycled from pallets, crates, other miscellaneous odds and ends. I knew it would be amazing when I saw the place was full of locals that recognized each other when they walked in. NORM! The food menu is short and the drinks menu is long and all of it unique twists on home cooked favorites. Amazing flavor and texture and yum! Thanks Audrey and Laura! Dr. M

Set a short walk from Times Square this bustling little bar is full of charm and character. Friendly staff serve great drinks and delicious food. Strong recommendation for anyone looking to escape the chaos of NYC.

We stumbled across this bar on a recent trip to NYC. Just a minutes walk away from our hotel and we just wished we'd found it sooner. It had a really cute & cosy atmosphere and the cocktails were really good. The bartender was amazing (sorry we didn't get your name), so friendly and seemed genuinely interested in talking to us about our trip. Thank you for the peanut butter whiskey and mint whiskey shots :-) We'd 100% recommend this bar and hope to be back sometime soon!

My husband and I were looking for a place with beer and small plates. We found this great little bar with small plates. The bartender/owner was there and had just officiated a wedding for some of his regulars. He did the wedding off site but the reception fun was in the bar. The place was welcoming and the food was good. We had the deviled eggs with bacon-YUM! We also ordered the kale salad with strawberries-another great choice. Definitely recommend and will go back there again. When we exited after our great experience with the food and people, Shane thanked us, by name, for coming! Cheers!

Delicious food! Great atmosphere! Outstanding customer service! We would like to thank Seth and Julie for their uplifting, welcoming spirits! We left NYC knowing that we met 2 fantastic individuals! Did I mention that we ate here 3 days in a row? Yes EVERYTHING was that great and then some. Looking forward to dining here again🥰

Fab staff & owners, delicious food and great location! We went after a show and the food and drinks were perfect.

We stopped in to Hold Fast after dinner while we were in NYC for the holidays. It's got a great vibe. We only had cocktails but the little bar menu looked interesting. The owners were behind the bar (a few friends who took the leap to own their own place) and were fun to talk with. We ordered a few cocktails each, and all were solid. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for an after theatre drink! Nice snacks if you’re peckish. Younger crowd, steam punk decor and an extremely casual atmosphere. Great staff!!

The decor and fairy lights in here added with the great 2010s music made such a good atmosphere! The staff were all so friendly, and the food was really nice at a great price.

Our last night in NY and we wanted someplace close to our hotel for drinks and a light dinner. Friendly staff, enormous bar, and great food-just what we were looking for.

Lovely little find, stumbled across this place on way back from doing a river cruise. Staff so welcoming and friendly (seems rare in New York) menu choice was great & very reasonable. Setting was lovely, we sat outside amongst the hustle & bustle which was great! Service was great, and food was delicious!!!! Definitely recommend & look forward to returning

Came here after seeing the great Broadway show Hamilton. Wanted cocktails and appetizers to share with three. Enjoyed unique wings and ahi tuna on a fried wontons. Ate more but these two were my favorites. Co-owner was tending bar and cake over to ensure I enjoyed my specialty cocktail, and I certainly did. It was made with Prosecco and elderflower but not sure what else. Delicious

Wandered into Hold Fast for late night drinks and food after a show in Times Square and were delighted to find a cozy, local spot with delicious food and a great bar menu. The tacos were really tasty and our server was fantastic!

Part of restaurant row on West 46th Street which makes it convenient with a variety of venues . Ate outside on curbside in September which made for a positive experience. Had a chicken disk which hit the spot. Service was excellent, waiter was attentive. Will return on future visits to NYC.

Everything was amazing! Not only was every dish delicious but the staff was super friendly. We LOVED chatting with one of the owners, Jason. He loves what he’s doing, and it’s obvious in the food and atmosphere that he has created. A top notch place!
Service Lacking
Wanted to like this place more. Good happy hour drink prices, food was good (small portions). But the service was really lacking. Just way understaffed - even though we were seated at a table, had to go up to the bar and stand in line for drinks, several times. Food order took over an hour.
