I ordered the mushroom hummus and it came with some pita of your choice. The pita was so warm and fresh. The hummus was the best hummus I've ever tasted, and the service was awesome. Their mint tea is something special to, very refreshing and delicious.

This small place may get you think wrong about it I was surprised to find out that place ran by Israeli people The hummus is very good and the service is fast The place is very clean I will come back again Thank you!

The most delicious hummus and falafels we’ve ever had. Vegetarian dishes, simple and good in a modest setting. Good value for what is served. The lentil soup is also delish. Service was wonderful. A busy place, which tells you something right there!

We came upon this place in the upper west on a cold day and thus ordered the soup of the day. Best split pea soup I’ve had. Also best hummus I’ve had as well..I️ must say I’ve had hummus on many occasions in many places. So, it’s name speaks for itself - it truly is a hummus place and a delicious one as well!

The food is delicious! We went with our little family. Its a normal restaurant, not fancy or chique. On TripAdvisor it says a 1 dollar sign but this isn’t the case. Be careful if you go there. We where with 2 adult and 2 children. We drink 4 beers and payed more than 100 us dollars. So for us it is a 2to3 dollar sign on tripadvisor, and not a 1 dollar sign. We where mislead. After paying they asked me for the tip, in what i believe is very rude. We had to give up our last money onto the tip and nearly made it back to our hotel. But the food suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Just what I needed and have missed so far in NY. I had the Meduza combination with houmus, taboule and falafels together with pita. All was great.

So good- fresh and delicious. Great portions. Recommend the hummus and beans. Delivery is very quick and efficent.

NYC has too few reasonably priced restaurants with extremely flavorful vegetarian options like Hummus Place. What a unique menu. Absolutely delicious!

Although food was good, it did not taste like authentic middle eastern, especially the coffee which was served in the traditional coffee pot but was made with regular american coffee. The tzaziki was very liquid. Nothing tasted bad but...there is a lot of room for improvement

Different than traditional fast food. Fresh, healthy and great service. I would go back. Its a small shop.

You must walk below the sidewalk into this cozy restaurant in a basement. The interior is small and interesting. We ordered 6 mezze and it was all very good. Very recommended.

Emphasis, unsurprisingly, on hummus combos but good selection of other items.... all bright and fresh. Room is spotless, service quick, prices are fair and the staff terrific. Recommended.

Small, you almost pass by without noticing, even when you want to go there. But what a nice place, what extraordinary good food ... the place is small, so, don’t tell everyone otherwise you will not be able to enter anymore without reservation. We tried a lot and no disappointment ... picking one as the better one would be no good, so try it out!

We had lunch Friday and the service was very efficient, food was amazing. I recommend that place! Bravo!!!!!!👏👏

We tried the hummus and falafel and the aubergine bake. Both were delicious and filling. Service was good.

One of 3 Hummus Places, this one is on the Upper West side. The food is pretty consistent, Tonight I had the 3 Meze: the beets were done just right, simply seasoned, the lentils and rice, tasty, but a little dry, and the vegetable soup with large pieces of carrots, potatoes, celery, and others was hot and delicious. I added the individual pizza with cheese, olives, etc. a different taste than your usual pizza, but pretty good. Although the desserts ar e great, I had to skip for lack of time before the show. The place was a bit crowded. The restroom is in the tiny kitchen prep area, not the greatest location. You have to squeeze past and rub elbows with the workers to get to it.

My husband, daughter, and I had dinner here one night during our trip to NYC. the food was great. being called the Hummus Place you would hope the hummus is especially good and it really was. it was very creamy and all the food was great. my husband had the hummus platter with several different types of hummus and i got the falafel sandwich. would definitely eat here again if we were ever back in the area.

Lots of uncommon items on the menu. Good options for gluten free or vegetarian. The Turkish coffee was very good. Almost like a variation of a French Press type of coffee. Roasted cauliflower, artichokes and Brussel sprouts were all above average. The pita bread and falafel hummus were superb. Price was good too. Seemed like there were a lot of foreign travelers there in the know as to where to get an authentic home meal.

This is a great place to try any of several hummus related meals.I usually get a 3-side special: beet salad, rice & lentils & a cup of vegetable soup (with large chunks of veggies). Mt friend's eggplant Shakshuka was also delicious. we shared their version of pizza, a pleasant treat. We each had Malabi (a custard dessert), Their hot house mint tea is comforting.

Excellent selection of middle eastern food, offered in a small restaurant setting. Also - well-packed food for takeout.

Very friendly, good service. Food was very good and portions were very generous. The 4 of us split a hummus platter and a falafel sandwich for lunch (they give you extras for free at lunchtime) and it was more than we could eat! Total was $26 before tip... so great prices for NYC as well!

My wife and I stopped in for lunch when taking in the sights of NYC earlier this month. After seeing positive reviews, we went to Hummus Place and we enjoyed it thoroughly. We split a hummus sampler appetizer to start and that alone was plenty of food for two people (would recommend for a party of four or so)! We each ordered an entree and loved each of them. The food was fresh, nicely prepared and the service was great. To top it off, we enjoyed some Turkish Coffee which was very authentic and fantastic. Next time we come to NYC, we will look to enjoy another meal here. It’s an ideal lunch spot on the Upper West Side.

We absolutely love this restaurant. The food was delicious. Friendly and excellent service from staff. The two of us had a main meal each, a dessert each, a wine and a beer which came to $65 ($76 including tip). Worth every penny. We would highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely return when we are next in New York!

Satisfying ample portions of fresh savory hummus, babaganoush, falafel and more! While the pita was warm, fluffy and tasty, it's a bit too thick and therefore we were bulked up sooner than expected. Would definitely be back when in this area...a solid and simple go to place, but get there early so as not to wait too long...though they turn the tables relatively quickly.

If I could eat here everyday I would. The flavors of the food really shine through even in simple foods like hummus, falafel, pita and butternut squash soup (those are the items I ordered). Walking in, the restaurant I saw diners eating a variety of menu offerings which all looked appealing. The place is small and easy to overlook but is worth seeking out.

We came 21.30 from the hotel out of the cold while they say on tripadviosor that they open until 23.00 after we got in they told us they arr close! Shame will never go back there

Small out of the way place, clean, friendly service, reasonably priced, generous portion. Humus and falafel were solid and hearty. Satisfyingly simple

Good choice of hummus dishes, better bargain at lunch. It will fill you up. Pleasant staff make it a nice place to eat something healthy.

Every time I stay on the UWS, I stop here. The hummus is amazing, so many varieties. I had trouble choosing so I got the sampler! Falafel is great, Israeli salad fresh. Delicious fresh Mediterranean cuisine. Perfect for a late lunch or intimate dinner.

In 2013, my mom, sister and I had come from seeing a live taping of Dr. Oz and found Hummus Place Upper West Side. A delicious mezza of various foods plus the most delicious mint tea I've ever tried! I highly recommend it! Great for your budget!

The perfect place to go for a quick dinner and wake your jet-lagged body up after a flight to NYC. A good find indeed.

On my visit to New York with my family dinner from Hummus place became regular. Pitas n vegetable soups were really delicious. Service was real quick. A real food in these part of city.

This is a modest spot with simple decor and good value prices. The menu was short, and offers fairly standard middle eastern fare, but everything was fresh and tasty. We shared a selection of vegetarian dishes and thoroughly enjoyed everything.

Being a tourist you unfortunately often have to accept to being hustled, rushed and sometimes ignored or condescended while eating overpriced and often mediocre quality food. Not this place! A very polite and easy service, street side table, tasty and freshly made food! And all that for a very reasonable price. Even coming from Canada where our dollar is 35% less than USD, this meal was well worth it. Highly recommend!

Went here for an early dinner. Reviews were consistently good and it was close to our hotel. Goodness, what a fine meal they serve here. It is a tiny place and they don't take reservations. We did not have to wait, but having eaten here, I would gladly wait for a table. The hummus is unlike any I have ever had, fresher and cremier. Wonderful eggplant, fava, salads and more. One of the best Israeli/Middle Eastern meals I have ever had. And excellent service too.

So fresh, so flavorful! I had them in a Falafel Sandwich and it was really good. This is a very casual sit down restaurant that seemed to have a lot of regular customers - I can see why. If I lived there I'd be one too!

Fabulous humus and other entrees at very reasonable prices. A non-fancy local restaurant worth trying. It doesn't look like much but its very good.

it is a hidden place in the busy roads of Amsterdam avenue. even if the outside isn't promising I suggest you to go in and enjoy some of the hummus delicacies of the Palestinian cuisine. the service is polite and considerate and the price would make you want go eat there everyday. the place is relaxing and quiet and gives you a break from the crowded roads of New York City. I suggest you to go on a Sunday to enjoy the brunch menu, that offers delicious eggs plates served of course with a tasty serving of hummus.

The food is good but not outstanding. The menu is limited and the place is small. A basic dependable place for good middle eastern food.

Great, casual vegetarian. We were looking for a quick bite before a show at the Lincoln Center. We had the assorted hummous plate and Shakshouka. Both were delicious. Service was friendly and quick. They also had plenty of interesting soups, salads and appetizers that we will try next time.

Well prepared assortment of good middle eastern veggie food at reasonable prices. Nice assortment - well seasoned - good portions

Late night order from our hotel room – free delivery – delicious food!! Our order included a regular falafel sandwich and fries ($13) and a 3-side special ($16) of cauliflower, falafel and hummus. Two unbelievably delicious pita rounds were included with the special. Yum!

have read many wonderful reviews for Hummus Place, love middle eastern food so thought we'd give it a go. small space but that's ok expected that. you get a lot of food for your money, but unfortunately it is only average, except the soup which was really nice. I would go again to try something else in case I got a bad night.

Went here for lunch with a friend and we really enjoyed the place. The hummus is very balanced, but the pita bread makes this far above any other middle eastern restaurant. It is flavorful, moist, and hearty. We ordered the sample platter which I recommend if it is your first time. I am fairly certain you won't be disappointed.

One of the best hummus experiences ever. We got the variety plate and a stewed tomato and eggplant dish, with baklava and Turkish coffee for dessert. Everything was excellent, and the young men who waited on us were polite and friendly. I want to go back!

great hummus and falafel! Portions very generous and price is right. we had such a big lunch we didn't eat dinner. And service very quick. If you love hummus/Israeli food, go here!

efficiently run, lots of people get takeout. I chose to eat in and enjoyed the falafel and a beer. The menu has lots to chose from and the seating area, albeit just a few tables, is quite comfortable for dining alone or with friends.

The Hummus Place has a small menu and a small dining room but that is no clue to the flavor - this place delivers a big meal experience. We ate lunch early and watched as a steady stream came in to grab lunch on-site and to go. Clearly locals know where to go to get a good meal! The very reasonably priced lunch specials included a dish of hummus and warm pita. We asked for the whole wheat pita and it was excellent - warm and soft, almost pillowy. We both ordered the shakshuka, one with eggplant, and found it excellent. Spicy but not too hot, full of flavor and quite filling. We wished we could have tried dessert but we were stuffed. Service was attentive, the seating was comfortable. We will defintely be back.

We popped in here just for some take away falafels. Really good quality and good price. Quick service too.

We had a fantastic, healthy, fresh dinner of salad, humous, falafel and shakshuka with haloumi. Quick, efficient, well priced and tasty. It's popular with limited tables but has a quick turnover. Great, healthy fast food but not really relaxing nor leisurely.

The salads, falafal sandwiches in pita, and a broad variety of middle eastern dishes will delight the palate...and there's plenty of spice if you want it! Hummus Place also does a very active takeout business for locals as well. Highly recommended!

This is probably one of my top favorite casual dining spots in NYC. The pita are amazingly fluffy, even the multi-grain pita are fluffy! Their hummus and falafel are super delicious. Ask for the zhoug if you like a little spice. This spicy paste is made fresh daily and has a flavor like nothing else; herby, spicy, delicious. I dream about this place at night..... Their brunch is great also. Service is always super. I'm back in Phoenix for a long stint but the next time I get back to NYC, this is my first stop.

amazing service, quality food, distinctive taste. Also fine wine, good company and accommodated our baby in a stroller.

I was hungry so I went to Fairway to pick up something for dinner. Nothing looked good. I kept walking and saw this place. I walked in sat down and I’m so glad I did.

Real authentic and great tasting hummus, salads and mid-eastern food! Was with a family with kids and everyone really enjoyed.

I like the write up of hummus place on Trip Advisor and thought my dinner: Three side special at 16 bucks was delicious and the is really red wine that they offered as the house red was delicious. Service was excellent, and very welcoming. My waiter was very helpful in choosing which three sides would give me a good idea of their offerings. I’m well nourished and satisfied before I go hear the New York Philharmonic with cellist Jian Wang.

I was walking around the area when I saw this little hole in the wall That turn out to be the best hummus Ive had in the York so far. Generous portions and great quality. I really recommend this place

We ordered a takeaway and the food was not only delicious but generously proportioned. .A nice healthy option

Hd food from brunch menu yesterday and was simply awesome. Loved it and definitely should try. Service was great too. Obviously with all American restaurants the quantity is lot so order accordingly

I stumbled in after a day of walking through The Cloisters and down Hudson River Park. So, starving! It was late afternoon, no waiting, and the staff was lovely. Delicious hummus, real pita and fantastic mint iced tea. I can't say enough about how happy I am to have found this place!

Great food at great prices for the upper West side. Taking tips as a standard minimum rate that is a little annoying and that seems a little artificial if you pay for a service

Excellent service. Fantastic meals. Cauliflower appetizer was unbelievably good. Hummus creamy and tasty falafel sandwich was dreamy. Great prices. If I come back to nyc again will go out of the way to eat there again

We really liked the food, it was fresh and with really good taste, the dessert gorgeous. The place is nice and I enjoyed so much the Turkish coffee. Highly recommend it.

Walked over to the Hummus Place for lunch, 4 or 5 blocks from the Museum of Natural History. It's in a basement location, easy to miss. The food was a fantastic value with a free small mixed green salad, soup, or hummus added to each main dish. Prices are mostly around $10. Standard middle eastern hummus, fallafel, babaganush type dishes; all delicious and generously sized for lunch.

West Horsley Place is a tremendous find. It truly is a hidden gem in busy Surrey. The house is Grade 1 listed and is surrounded by absolutely beautiful grounds and countryside. They are hosting Opera and dinner in the stunning gardens and house. We enjoyed tea and hot chocolate at the pop up cafe. We feel extremely privileged to have experienced this beautiful place.

This unassuming restaurant just a few steps down from street level is one of the best Falafel etc. venues I've visited. The salads, falafel sandwiches in pita, and a broad variety of middle eastern dishes will delight the palate...and there's plenty of spice if you want it! Hummus Place also does a very active takeout business for locals as well. Highly recommended!

I wanted a quick meal, close to my hotel on the Upper West Side and was so pleased and satisfied. It's a small basement restaurant and when I left, the line was up the stairs and into the street. I can see why. I had the eggplant sandwich on pita (Sabich) and it was really good.

Hummus Place is NY was pretty good. We were welcomed by kind staff. Gabriel Culiat will definitely recommend them to family and friends. The food was delicious. The prices were affordable

The freshness of the food in this place, normally, at least during daytime hours, is so compelling that even non-vegetarians can look forward to eating there regularly. Particularly for New York’s Upper West Side, this place is reasonably priced, especially for combinations (you’ll see what that means if you sample the place). A sated palate and full bellies are certainties. The problem encountered during evening hours is that the staff is less than concerned about cleanliness and hospitable behavior. When I was there, there was a veritable crowd of people in the kitchen, all talking, but not all of whom even work there. Who were they and why were they there, dressed in unclean civilian clothes, and without hats. The waiters were sullen (which can happen after a long day); But most egregious were the various mix-ups in orders; as well as the indifference to certain standards which may cause alarm. At one point, for instance, a small container of sauce was dropped on the ground, picked up again, and was being put right into someone’s take out until the incident was called out by the customer himself. Scary. All of this makes one wonder what else is happening there. It would be a shame if the night shift ruined things for what is otherwise a gem of a place.

The staff was accommodating and the food really excellent. Best falafal I've ever had. Tastes like it's just out of the garden. Hummus is creamy and smooth and the wheat pita is so fluffy you could sleep on it. The places is small, but intimate and charming. I hope they are around for a long time. Good venue.

We came here on a week night in July and really liked the food. The place is a little small so it could feel stuffy. The service was fine and the quality of the food was excellent. It is a little pricey, but it's Manhattan. I recommend starting with the appetizers - they let you chose three from a list. My wife got the mint iced tea and felt it was very refreshing.

They declare it the best hummus in the city, obviously I haven't tried them all but this one is excellent. I had falafel, hummus, Turkish salad, and of course the legendary cauliflowers! Super

The place is not very big with 15 tables. Very nice decoration (beautiful photos from Israel). Good service (in 2 secs nicely fresh water is served). The food is really excellent, so fresh and tasty. I recommend the green spicy sauce just amazing. Eggplant dishes are falafel are my favorites.

Love all their dishes for lunch. Great hummus with whole wheat pita. I usually get falafel sandwich with a side of salad. The service is super efficient and the prices are very reasonable for UWS.

How do they get so much flavor in a falafel sandwich? This place is remarkable. My wife and I went in on a cold and rainy day. It was cozy inside, the service warm and welcoming. But the food was the real star. The carrot and ginger soup was perfectly balanced, and you could feel the warmth and nutrients being absorbed by your body.

This was our second visit, and after memory of the first, it had a lot to live up to. Though the restaurant is small and seating limited, the hosts truly do their best to seat everyone as efficiently as possible. They are incredibly fast as well, so crowding is rare. No matter what your taste, there's something Mediterranean- inspired for you. Not only will the more adventurous eaters find something to love, but so will those with children or just wishing to play it safe. Our group had the falafel sandwich, veggie cons cons and chickpea hummus plate. We loved everything! From the falafel to the fries, everything came out fast and hot, straight from the oven. We can't wait to be back soon!

Waited half an hour on a table lunchtime sunday. The waiter managed to make 5 (five) mistakes with our order. Hummus and pitas are good, falafel are average at best. Lemonade is good. Prices are ok but not cheap

The combination platter is our favorite here...and we never miss the labneh and hummus of course. The whole wheat pita and pickles are fab along with the special soups they usually have. We almost always order dessert and the mint tea to end our meal! Perfect light dinner when catching a movie nearby at the AMC cinema.

There many countries/cultures that make/serve/eat hummus, so it's delicate to claim authenticity. Nevertheless, I'll step forward and say, the hummus here is among the most authentic. I can also add that the babaganooj is some of the best i've sampled. New to me is labne cheese, a cross between yogurt and feta and oh so creamy. falafel and grape leaves are served in a delicate mint sauce. Servings are generous and service is helpfully friendly.

We visited this restaurant as a result of a guide book recommendation. The restaurant is set below street level and is easy to miss. Once inside, there are a small number of tables and the kitchen is open to view. It was quite busy but we got a table and a waiter was immediately with us. The menu is not big but it all sounds tasty. As we had gone specifically to try the hummus we chose a hummus taster platter and three sides, tzatziki, vine leaves and beetroot salad. As everything was cold they arrived very quickly with three good size warm pitta breads. The food was absolutely lovely and we took our time to finish the lot. The service is very friendly and prompt and the restaurant has a great feel about it. The bill when it came was around £10 per head, which for what we had, and the area, was very good. I would go back and try other food on the menu.

My wife and I had lunch here on a Wednesday. She had an eggplant dish, and I had the falafel plate. Both were very good. The service was prompt and friendly. Prices were reasonable. Would absolutely go back.

We were wanting to grab a cookie at Levain Bakery which is right around the corner, but wanted some real food first so we just took a shot on this place and it was very good! My husband and I ordered the hummus platter and they were all so good and fresh. The pita was warm and wonderful!

great food, great portions at a reasonable price. Hummus, felafel and salad all tasty and well prepared. A great find for a quick bite.

Had delicious humus and various mezze dishes. Try the Lebanese cheese cream. Fresh pita bread. Good service. Many locals go here.

Came here on my trip to NY. 5 days of eating food throughout the city and this was my favourite place. Had the falafel wrap with chips and it was unreal, amazing flavours. Will be back for sure!

Felt like we were back in Israel and this delicious Mediterranean restaurant. Just amazing food and great atmosphere

Hummus Place is conveniently located directly across the street from the rear entrance to the Beacon Theaters, so it's the perfect spot for a quick, or not so quick, bite to eat before attending a show. All of the food is super fresh and delicious and I recommend the Falafel Sandwich with French fries, which is more that satisfying for even a very hearty appetite. The placed is tiny and it gets crowded so the earlier that you get there, the better. Prices are very reasonable and service is quick and friendly.,

Loved the food, service was fast and courteous. Hard to find authentic falafel, this is definitely a hidden gem. Delicious food, will definitely come back!

This is my sister's favorite restaurant for brunch; she always has the shakshuka with eggplant and feta which is quite delicious. The last time we were there, I tried the sabich, a sandwich made with fried eggplant, hardboiled eggs, cabbage and hummus. Heaven! I'll be dreaming about that dish.,

Friendly servers and tasty vegetarian options at this cozy neighborhood spot. If you're on the UWS, this is a quick, easy option for lunch or dinner.

This place was recommended by a friend and boy oh boy.... Glad I tried it. Had Hummus with mushroom & onion. It was nothing like I’ve ever had before! Definitely... you MUST try this place!

The hummus that you can eat here is really good, and this is definitely the highlight of this restaurant (together with a reasonable price). The service is ok without being top.

Easy to miss restaurant, on lower level. Cozy, with open kitchen, and a loyal local following. Menu is somewhat limited, and offers small and large plates. You can eat at any price point you want, but ordering alot of little dishes does add up quickly. Wine, beer, sangria and fresh juices are also offered. True to its name the humus is very fresh and very good. The veggie patties were the best of our entrees. Portions are large and easily shared As it is really small, reservations are suggested.

Very good hummus and other Mediterranean dishes for reasonable prices. We had hummus with falafel, shakshuka, and mint ice tea. Two delicious soups: vegetable and lentil, which were included for the lunch special. Attentive, friendly staff. Down a few steps from the street

We had a very compfortable and satisfing lunch there. All was so traditional and tastful. Tipical mediterranean cousine in NY. Also remarkableb the turkish coffee, very good smell and taste. We reccomend it for really delicate mediterranean cousine

Good place. They should specify that is just vegetarian, but even though, I could enjoy the meal even with no meat. Great place for a fast lunch.

I like the food alot it's like the Israeli food very good restaurant its very good prices and good vibes

Hole in the wall mediterranean food in upper west side. Walking distance (3-4 blocks) to Lincoln center. Excellent hummus and homemade soups. The sangria is also good. Only worth it if you are in the neighborhood, but real non-touristy food in the Lincoln center area.

Mmmmmm they have the best falafel and hummus. Good food, good to eat in or take out. I think they’re on Grubhub, so definitely order from them. I’ve eaten their food numerous times, so yummy.

This is a place to get a nice, not outstanding lunch on the Upper West Side. The food is okay but not quite as good as it used to be.

We happened upon this restaurant, after going to the Natural History Museum, and looking for an eatery. It was different than our same-old, same-old, so my son agreed to try it. The falafel tasted a little different than the usual Israeli falafel I've had. It wasn't as crispy, it tasted a little milder, and it was green inside, like the Greek falafel I've had, instead of white. It was delicious, though! Perhaps the milder flavor was why my son liked it. I loved the salad that it came with! My son enjoyed the fries which he ordered, instead. I also enjoyed the Cole Slaw which came with it, as well as the bottle of water on the table! And they serve milk (if one orders it), which was such a blessing, for us, as it's all my son drinks! Our server was nice, too. I would definitely come here again!

This restaurant was recommended to us and I’m so glad! It’s very small and cozy and was very busy but they squeezed us in at a small table for 2. It was late afternoon but they were still serving brunch and it was fantastic. I had Shakshuka, so good! And huge portions. Came with a side of potatoes, hummus and pita and salad. My husband had Mallawach, also delicious! Service was attentive, a bit business like but efficient. Great Middle aeastern food. The hummus was amazing! Price was reasonable for the amount of food. You could definitely share!

Hummus Place is on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at Amsterdam Ave between 74th and 75th Streets. It's set half a level below the sidewalk which gives it a cozy feel when you walk in. The atmosphere is very casual, the wait staff friendly and efficient but the food is absolutely the highlight. They have a variety of MiddleEastern dishes each of which is healthily and freshly prepared. We had the hummus sampler to start which had a variety of hummus', each with a unique taste. We split a Tabouli Salad which was so fresh and delicious I wish we'd each ordered one. But the highlight of the meal was the Shakshuka which is a tomato stew, with eggs (cooked perfectly) and peppers. It was wonderful and left us feeling satisfied. You can find a variety of restaurants in this area of town and many of them are excellent. Hummus Place takes its place among these.

We had a very late lunch or you can say very early dinner at this wonderful place. We have decided to order 3 side dishes: Falafel, Fries, and Hummus. Then we also ordered Labane Cheese that looked and tasted more like a thick Greek yogurt then any kind of known to me cheese. ( It was sprinkled with herbs and was good, but do not expect a cheese, even a cream cheese.) We do not consume yeast and could not benefit from the pita bread. A helpful staff offered an yeast-free tortilla that was served warm, the way how we love it. And we 100% agreed with the reviewers who said that falafel was one of the best. We ordered two Turkish Coffee (served in jazva, $3.00/ea) and tried KADAIF per staff’s recommendation ($6, Dry Kadaif topped with vanilla infused ricotta cheese, Halva shreds and Date Honey). KADAIF was large enough to share for at least 4 people! The food and the service – all was amazing! Can’t wait till next time!

We had a wonderful lunch. The food was great and the waitstaff was super accommodating to the needs of a 2 yo.

had dinner there with my daughter last night -the hummus platter -Lebanese leben are my favorites only request I have with the place is -they must be cleaner .

We went here for a quick dinner after a bicycle ride in the Upper West Side. We shared a hummus plate and a falafel sandwich. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The service was attentive and food came out quickly. Would highly recommend for hummus fans.

I found this small Kosher restaurant in the Upper West Side of NYC. The food was excellent. I had a whole wheat pita falafel with all the trimmings; I replaced the fries with a fresh green salad and a mint iced tea. I was only able to finish 1/2 the falafel. The atmosphere was nice, the staff very friendly and The service was quick. I plan to return. The only drawback, it is not wheelchair accessible. There are a few steps below the ground level to enter the restaurant.

This is probably my 10th meal at this restaurant. It is consistently excellent. This is an Israeli-style hummus restaurant. The pita are soft, fresh, and pillowy. The chummus is smooth and warm. Try the chummus with fava beans. The baba ganouj is delicious. They gave excellent dolmas and green falafel as well. I also like the roasted eggplant. For non-vegans, the shakshuka is incredible. You just can’t go wrong here. Top it off with a lemonade for the complete experience.

We had a late lunch here following a visit to the Met and a walk across Central Park. We were searching for good middle eastern food....and we found it. Once we had seen the menu we opted to order from the “side dish” lineup as it had all our favorites. We chose 6 — hummus, tabula salad, grape leaves, babagnoush, falafel and just for a change French Fries. They were all excellent. We ate every little bit of them all. We thought the tabula was outstanding. And of course they are renowned for the hummus. We also tried a couple of the desserts and we thoroughly enjoyed those as well. My wife like the mint tea and I enjoyed the Turkish coffee. The is an outstanding little basement restaurant. The wait staff was attentive and polite.

After a few days in New York with real bad coffee I can't describe the smile on my face when I over heard the waiter asking a neighboring table if they wanted Turkish Coffee!!! The Hummus was ok and pita bread also. It's not Israel but that was to be expected! They have Goldstar beer so that's "Very Good"!!!

I was walking around the area with a friend and we stopped for a quick lunch. We had the lunch special... lots of food for $13 or $14, this was a bargain considering NY city prices and how tasty the food was.

Wow, small almost hidden gem with freshly prepared food served with a friendly smile. All types of hummus and related items. I'll be back!

Short walk from Central Park. Best Falafel I’ve had. Great sangria. Stuffed grape leaves are delish!!!!

We were looking for takeaway, this place was perfect. Friendly staff, delicious food, good sized portions. No too long a wait, people dining in looked very happy, also seating outside. Falafel was delicious and lovely soft texture

extraordinary! all we’ve ordered was really tasty. puting the rice, mushrooms, falafels and hummus inside the warm pita bread was an incredible idea. we had an incredible dinner!

Visited based on the feedback after a long walk around Central Park, food standard was very good, certainly not cheap eats but good value for the location with friendly service. Would go again.

Visited based on tripadvisor ratings. It is a small place in a basement barely visible from the street and would be easy to miss. Food was really good and authentic, the Falafel Hummus was excellent, with great Pita. Music did not really match the middle eastern food but would recommend for a nice lunch.

This is a great little Mediterrean restaurant. Seating is limited though, but, it is worth the wait, if needed. Take out is available as well. The food is fresh, healthy, delicious, and reasonably priced. There are options for everyone including vegetarians, however, there is not a children's menu and finding something that they would eat might be a challenge. We have been here several times and it is always good. Never disappointing.

We enjoyed lunch here after visiting the American Museum of Natural History and it was our first hummus! We really liked it and I would definitely recommend it. The service was good and the food wasn't pricey at all (~60 $ tip included for 3 abuntant servings and 3 side dishes)

Amazing healthy & tasty We had been to their Greenwich Village location a few years ago. Amazing food Hummus special- four kinds: Mushroom, and more We had eggplant special, wow! We have Salad too loads of arugula. The whole wheat pita is excellent, and they give you as much as you want. Try it you will like it. We had a wine sangria too.

What a little gem of a place. The baba ganoush! (oye vey!) a beautiful charred flavor without being overcooked. Falafel is light and tender. Tzatziki perfectly balanced. And they serve shakshura!! Really reasonably prices, nice ambiance. Go there, you won't be sorry.

I didn't realize you could make an entire meal of Hummus before visiting the Hummus Place when they opened years ago. I used to live in the neighborhood and went all the time. Sadly, I moved away three years ago. I was lucky enough to visit again this past weekend, and it was better than I even remembered (and I had been dreaming about it!). The hummus comes out soft and room temperature, and the regular pita is fluffy and delicious. I'm in love with the hot sauce, which I stir into the hummus (I went with fava hummus). Their health salad is tasty and fresh and the lemony dressing is spot on (I like to sop up any extra dressing with the pita too). The house brewed iced tea has a natural sweetness from dates - it's great without any added sugar. Can't wait for another visit!

Excellent! Small & CosyPlace! Good service with Outstanding Food and Drinks!! Loved the Brunch Option until 4PM. Will definitely be back and recommend to others!

If you like Hummus and what is fair to call a Hummus-style menu, you will like this place. It's Israeli diner food in New York City.

It might be an unwritten rule that while in Manhattan you at some point must have hummus and falafel, much like being in Israel! Hummus Place is a neighborhood favorite for our family and friends and our most recent visit was our second time there. We visited for lunch and of course took advantage of the lunch special where a soup, hummus or mixed greens are included with an entree. We chose the Lentil Soup and it was delicious! We also ordered a Falafel Sandwich with Fries, Falafel, Cauliflower, Roasted Eggplant and Hummus with Mushrooms. Everything was quite tasty and we even had two pieces of falafel remaining to take home for second lunch!

Delicious lunch at this small and cozy spot. Menu is vegetarian which I didn't even realize until I heard someone ask. Lots of variety. The felafal and hummus were delicious.

Casual place, small but not too noisy. If you like hummus go there. Excellent without a doubt, kept not overly spicy lost you savour it completely. Prices are reasonable compared to other New York venues

I'm really picky about my hummus and falafel, so when friends highly recommended this place, I came here cautiously, but was happily surprised. The hummus and falafel are freshly made and delicious, and come in different options. I liked the fava hummus (with hard boiled eggs on top), especially with the whole wheat pita on the side. They also make a really good shakshouka - for an easy dish, it's surprisingly hard to find restaurants that make it well, but Hummus Place is good at it. Their eggplant sandwich is also delicious! This isn't a big restaurant, but it's worth waiting for a table.

We were looking for a gluten free eating experience and found this restaurant. Everything was well marked on the menu and the food delicious. It is so nice to eat something different and everything tasted great. Homemade pita, the falafels were really great. Good salads too. Try this place you will not be disappointed.

My friend and I stopped in before a show at the Beacon Theater and we left super happy. We split the plain hummus (nice and creamy) with warm pita pieces and devoured the falafels. They offer fries with the falafel, but I chose the side salad in an attempt to be 'good.' All of the meals here are vegetarian!

Awesome food and great service. Wish we could’ve stayed longer and try some more food but had to leave to catch show.

It was definitely a small place. But not to loud and quick service. One thing I missed in the listing was that there are vegetarian only. I was ok with it but my wife and kids are a bit more picky. I enjoyed my Babaganush, my 11-yo enjoyed the Za'atar Pizza, my wife and I had a Falafel and Eggplant Sandwich respectively. Our 17-yo was happy eating fries from our plates and ate some of an extra pita I ordered. The Pita was soft and fluffy.

A very nice corner in the lower part of the typical New York houses, the hummus delicious and abundant, acceptable price.

Quite possibly, the best hummus in the whole wide world, :-) I am probably exaggerating as I have not eaten hummus in the entire world. But you get the drift. The hummus here is of the very highest quality. The place can become quite crowded on weekends and the sitting place is not that big. So a tip from someone who visits this place a lot - get in there early :-)

Best hummus anywhere. Fluffy pita, healthy eggs. Dinner is excellent as well with so many tasty vegetarian dishes.

We ordered too much Hummus. Possibly should have tried some of the other dishes, but with a great house red, a rainy NYC and a sleeping baby too much hummus is very much a good thing. Fresh pita, great service, great hummus in different styles and a really (really) great hot sauce made our afternoon after a long mornings walk in the Park. This place has great reviews and deservedly so.

Hummus Place Amsterdam is a small place on the Upper West side - it is at basement level. Relatively small; but a fair number of seats. Little dark; but a comfortable atmosphere. Hummus is probably their speciality; but have a number of other tasty options. I ordered a hummus dish; but didn't understand what I was getting. It was 5 generous portions of hummus with different toppings. Lots of hummus; but I somehow managed to finish the food and was dying for something else besides hummus. The second time I visited I had the vegetable patties which were excellent along with the butternut squash soup. I don't normally visit a restaurant twice when I visit a city; but was impressed on my first visit. Service is very good; but one server (must be new) hovered after the menu was delivered. I along with some other tables asked the gentleman for a few minutes to peruse the menu. The female server was much better. Very good value. Just a note - most of the veggie stews come topped with 2 poached eggs so if that's not your thing maybe you can ask them to omit them or cut it down to one. Excellent healthy food and the place seems to be very popular.

Nice place for lunch or breakfast, Very good hummus and other salads. I visited during the weekend and had brunch. There was a generous plate with two eggs, hummus, labane' and Israeli salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, coriander with fresh lemon juice and olive oil dressing. The brunch included orange juice and coffee. Mostly recommended.

Found that place after searching on Tripadvisor (we’ve been around the corner visiting the AMNH). Food was delicious and prices are fair! Definitely recommended 👍🏻

We had the humus with sautéed onion and mushroom- it was creamy, tasty and fresh! We had the shakshuka- also so tasty. Pita bread was warm and fresh from the oven- pillowy with right amount of crust ones and soft. Best hummus I’ve had outside of ISRAEL!!

Ordered take-out, it took about 20 minutes. All the sandwiches were delicious. The eggplant and egg sandwich is wonderful. Fries not very crisp. Also sandwiches are about $14 each.

This downstairs place is quite small but really welcoming. We were there on a Sunday...their busiest day due to their brunch menu...but we didn't have to wait very long for a table. We accidentally ordered the hummus platter which was great but, in hindsight, we wish we'd ordered six different appetizers/small plates which we'll definitely do when we return. Loved it.

Hummus Place is a cozy little restaurant offering up bold flavors that will leave you wanting to have lunch here every single day.

We have had only positive experiences. However, their website says they close at 10 pm. Actually, their kitchen closes at 9:15pm so you cannot enter after that time.

This small eatery provides fresh and delightful vegetarian Middle-east menu with reasonable price, good portion and efficient service! Vegetable soup is more like a stew, full of flavorful veggies. 2 big pieces of whole wheat Pita bread are stuffed with all sorts of goodies. Turkish coffee is only $3 extra. Great value. Can’t complain but will certainly go back for different dishes.

Having just finished 3 hrs in the New York Historical Society Museum with a very rumbly tummy- I sat in the lobby and typed "felafel" into google maps. The Hummus Place is the first thing that came up. After reading a few reviews, I decided to give this place a try. It was just a few short blocks from the museum. The restaurant is below street level a few steps. A fairly tiny and crowded place. I had to wait for a table. They were packed at 1pm. I decided on the felafel with fries. Service is friendly and quick. I got my felafel in less than 10 min. What a yummy lunch. The pita bread is so soft and delicious and the fillings so fresh. I loved every single messy bite of it. And the fries were very tasty. So glad I found this place. Will return! This place seems to be a hit with the locals. Many were enjoying the shakshuka. People were friendly. Lady next to me noticed the game I was playing on my phone and told me how addicted to it she is. We now play each other.

Excellent vegetarian restaurant with hummus as the star. We ordered the Hummus served with whole wheat pitas fresh out of the oven. The hummus was the best we ever had. My husband had the Falafal sandwich which was tasty and very filling. I had a Vegetarian Patties which come with a choice of two sauces. I chose the Tzatziki although I was offered both. My meal too, was filling and delicious. No dessert as we were too stuffed! Wine is served here but we went with just water which was placed in a nice glass bottle on the table. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers and is small. I also noticed that there is takeout and a delivery service. We wouldn't hesitate to come back again as it is a very convenient location across the street from the Beacon Theatre where we were attending a concert after dinner.

After a long flight from the west coast we wanted something light. This was fantastic. Excellent food, freshly prepared, the wheat pita is fresh and fluffy and the sauces tasty. This is the real deal. Their hummus is creamy and perfect. Yummmmmm.

I love this place - been here so many times. Delicious Middle Eastern / Israeli food that is so well prepared and lovingly served. Bring an appetite and order your heart out - you will not be disappointed with anything. Falafel are light and airy, hummus is creamy and flavorful, baba ganoush, couscous, even dessert - it's all excellent.

The food was great at an affordable price. The place is so well visited, that the service is a little slow but very friendly. Definitely worth a visit!

Went for dinner and eas a cool surprise. Very good food, nice flavours and very good service. Hummus, falafel, etc... great place, thanks!!!

Ok. We started with the mojito. This was the most unusual drink I’ve had in a while. Aniseed. Mmmmmm The white wine was unusual as well. Dry but with an aftertaste u had to get used to. Brooklyn summer ale was great and the girls enjoyed a carafe of homemade lemonade. Very nice. We ordered the falafel sandwich and the eggplant sandwich with fries and the salad to share and he hummus sampler to share. Ok. So each of the sandwiches (fab pita bread), were excellent. The hummus sampler was a great idea, and we ordered too much food. A big recommendation from me. Worth the visit. Thanks

Don't look from outside! Go inside. You will find a perfect humus, a very good babaganuch e a wonderful hot bread. Don't forget to ask for the spicy sauce. Really good. It is not perfect because it doesn't has meat (like kafta). But ok, the fallafel balls are great.

Excellent service. Delicious mint iced tea. Everyone's appetizers and entrees were so yummy. Lots of food. We will definitely return.

This place has delicious food and the gluten free and vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. I had the veggie patties with rice, will be making it back here on my next trip.

Good dishes mainly the humus dishes . The place is too crowded at times but this is for a good reason

Terrific hummus -- standout. A local favorite because it is reasonably priced as well. No ambience, but go for the food.

Can get various options. I did not get hummus or falafel per se, but 3 different soups, 2 small side salads, 2 entrees and a desert, for takeout to last a number of days. The entrees were vegetarian couscous and an eggplant sandwich. Food was good and pretty good value for NY.

Loved this this hole in the wall place - very tiny but very tasty. Had the hummus platter and falafel sandwich. Delicious and decently priced for the amount of food.

Everything we ordered was delish! Hummus, Falafel, Salad, Soup were fresh, authentic and definitely a good deal. Only $3.95 for the Falafel appetizer which was several scrumptious balls of falafel served with a yummy sauce. The hummus was $6.95 and enough for three people to share. Our server was so attentive and sweet that we felt like we were dining in a favorite auntie's home! Even though they were busy during our time there, there was a cozy feeling and we were never rushed. Loved it!!

We were doing our Central Park day and my daughter was hungry near the John Lennon memorial. We looked on trip advisor for nearby restaurant and we headed towards this hidden gem! I must say this is vegetarian. We are not. But wow! Was this so delicious! And they had this little spicy side, cannot remember the name, but, if you like spicy you will do as I did and eat it all!

I am very picky about my Hummus. Outside of Israel, this is the best I’ve found. It’s freshly made, warm, creamy and delicious. I also recommend the Kadaif dessert!

Everything was delicious. Would definitely recommend it. Got the 3 side special for an appetizer. that and the mains were a lot of food. Had to take home some of my main, eggplant sakshuka.
Brunch
Amazing authentic arabic food. Highly recommended. Great Turkish coffee. Tasty Labneh hummus and falafel
