Whether for pleasure or business I Trulli is a hit!! My customers enjoyed a true italian meal where everyone left satisfied and thinking about the next time. Thank you for an incredible meal and experience. When in Manhattan and you have a desire for authentic southern Italian cuisine ... trust me I Trulli is amazing. Thank you Nicola and everyone who worked last night for a wonderful evening.

I was very impressed with this quaint little restaurant. Fabulous fish grilled and pan seared. Excellent home made pasta - recommend the one with tomato sauce and sausage. Nice wine. Good atmosphere with a fire burning and great service.

I took a friend of mine here for dinner and he asked what's the best Italian restaurant in New York, having eaten in about 40 Italian restaurants in New York this is the best Italian restaurant in New York and by far one of the very best restaurants in New York. The pasta is made by hand daily the menu is updated weekly the food is presented in the most delicious style. The wines are hand selected by the owner of the restaurant from Italy and some of the best wines I've ever had. restaurants come and go in New York just like cabs this restaurant has been around for over 19 years and I'm hopeful it'll be around for at least another 19.

Our favorite Italian on the East side. The service is amazing; they anticipate your every need at this old-school Italian where the pasta is homemade every day. The meatball starter is a must and melts in your mouth. My family loves the rabbit ragu and begs to return for it every time we are in the city. For me, the Orechiette with Broccoli is a favorite. And, finishing with a lovely Italian dessert is a must. Excellent wine list and outdoor covered patio in summer months.

Wow, my mouth is still watering! I was here for a business dinner, my colleague got the spinach fettucine and I went for the Lasagna as a splurge. Needless to say neither of us was disappointed and the portions were HUGE so there was alot of sharing going on. The wine list was wonderful and our waiter Francisco was fabulous. They even have a wonderful outdoor garden and I was disappointed it was raining because I would have loved to have sit out there. Definitely make your way here. It will not disappoint.

Foodies may be in awe and delight, but average Italian fans (American middle classer like us) will be in disrepair - HUGE wine list, BUT no Caesar salad. Calamari is OK, but only with "little fish" .... what? I think my HS bullies own this restaurant own this restaurant. I just want spaghetti and meatballs (the meatballs were ok, but the sauce, no). Go figure. The chickpea fritters were exceptional and we loved them enough to order more. The rest, not so much. so....you decide. We will not be back. Service was AWFUL. Lady bartender knows her drinks - A+ to her.

This restaurant pretends to be a real italian plugiese one but it is in fact quite mediocre. The antipasti and salate: 'carciofi' salad. The artichokes were hardly visible. Tiny and tasteless mozarella & tomato Secondi piatti: tasteless beef For kids: extremely small portion of spaghetti with tomato Deserts: they were quite acceptable, the best thing of the dinner Service: very long waiting for the main dishes

The food here is good. The appetizers far outpace the mains in terms of quality. I had the burrata, which was excellent, but was then disappointed by the quality of the market fish (a sea bass which had been cooked to dry). Service was a little slow but quite enthusiastic.

I will be pretty long and detailed about this review. I Trulli is a great place to dine Italian in NYC because the restaurant is very Italian, starting from the style to the food. They have a garden outside that reminds me of a Trattoria, and you feel like being in one of the Italian restaurant in South of Italy. The inside is also very romantic if you want to take your partner out for dinner. The pasta is handmade which makes a huge difference. Go there for pasta and for salumi like prosciutto salami and cheese. The owner Nicola is 100% Italian and he knows how to treat customers, from service to food. We didn't pick from the menu, he decided for us what to eat which leave a little bit of surprise. We had burrata with pesto and dried tomatoes (so good) and tris of pasta. Three different kind of pastas one with rubbit sauce, one with broccoli and one with italian sausage. Definitely recommended for a summer dinner with family or beloved.

Our favorite Italian restaurant in NYC--make it here nearly every trip. Wonderful food, excellent service and a first rate wine list.

This is your typical looking Italian NY restaurant until you walk into the garden section. You can sit outside among the waterfalls and trees and not even realize you are in the city. The food and service is amazing.

My husband and I chose this restauarant for a dinner on a rainy night in NYC. It was our second time and it was nothing short of spectacular. The service is excellent, but the food is amazing. Fresh and delicious is an understatement. My daily special of a pork chop was heavenly with the flavor of fresh herbs dancing on my tongue. My husband had the home made lasagna and was in pasta heaven. The wine stewart didn't miss a beat either. His recommendation for a glass with my dinner was spot on. Everyone made us feel special with a friendly smile all evening. Perfect, service, perfect food, perfect evening. Bravo. A restaurant not to be missed in NYC.

This is a decent Italian spot in midtown that always provides mix results. Some meals are fantastic and some are mediocre. I have had the rabbit ragu and it was filled with small bones that was more like a treasure hunt than a nice meal, but their pasta is typically top notch. Wines are expensive (way overpriced), so keep it in mind. Overall, it is a 6/10.

I've been to this restaurant numerous times and return every time I'm in NYC. This is the place where you can find authentic Italian dishes. Dora makes her special fresh orecchiette as you enter the restaurant, the service is excellent and the variety of dishes is quite vast.

Haven't been back to I Trulli for a while so decided to try an old favourite and it certainly did not disappoint. There were 4 of us and Nicola (proprietor) was so gracious with us. We had such wonderful pasta and entrée dishes. Wine from the owner's winery was also available which we sampled and enjoyed. Service was also really good.Truly a wonderful experience.

This place is a hidden gem. This is real Italian style food, very rustic and traditional. A good example would be Osteria Morini, I just had lunch there. Very creamy and rich pasta. Its TDF, don't get me wrong but the real deal is being served at I Trulli. From the outside it's deceiving. Its HUGE inside! They also have a waterfall? A freakin' waterfall I said! Its like Snoopy's doghouse. When Charlie Brown went inside he saw dining rooms, bowling alleys.. same thing for I Trulli. They have a happy hour on some great Italian wines, starting at $7?? Outstanding! I started with their Rosso Toscano 2009 Massoferrato. Along with their bread plate, makes a nice ice breaker. I ordered the Pulpo, which is Grilled Baby Octopus. Cooked perfectly and tasted traditional, its not to be missed. Speaking of not to be missed, the Baccalà is off the chain. It's not a heavily salted fish that you had for holidays. Its Pan-Roasted Chatham Cod with Tomatoes, Eggplant, Peppers and Basil. Mmmm mm! Cooked so perfectly, the chef is on target with this dish. I finished with the homemade Tiramisu. Its not like mom made in her big trifle dish. This is a Marscapone Mousse layered with Espresso-Soaked Lady Fingers. Wowza! This place needs to be found and experienced for yourself. I'll meet you anytime you want, In our Italian restaurant. Trust me, its going to be my new favorite place.

My companion and I really enjoyed I Trulli. I have been here about 3 times before. Each time I felt it was very good, but priced a little high for regular visits. As with many restaurant meals, you realized that the appetizers were the tastiest part of the meal. We had octopus, which was the best we both had ever had. windows corrupted dell laptopGreat play on tastes and texture. Fine aftertaste. It was on a bed of greens and beans, which in itself was a delight to eat. The surprise for us was that the octopus was served whole, as in the whole animal. At many Italian places you get deep fried slicers. This was the whole thing that we had to cut up to eat. And it had the head/body! That was a little too much for us. It's probably a great delicacy, but we opted out of that one. Before the octopus (which is written in dialect as Polpo on the menu and not proper Italian - which gives the place some authenticity), we had outstanding bread. Cut slivers of focaccia were truly delicious, like a fine appetizer and not just a tasty piece of break. Soft butter was served as well as olive oil on request. The entrees were good. The Cavatelli I had with broccoli rabe and almonds was excellent prepared. It had the bitterness I associate with broccoli rabe. The actual pasta was finely prepared. My companion really loved his Ceci E Tria - a combination of fresh and fried pasta with chickpeas and tomatoes. The pastas are all special, without the obvious, except for one spaghetti and meatballs. I have heard of the stone trulli houses in Puglia which provide some respite from the southern Italian heat. Everything about I Trulli reminds me of a stylized, refined version of the southern Italian food from childhood. Family had told me about having bread and oliver oil for a meal. A poor man's meal. Now it's a sign of sophistication. The service was easy and professional. The only hiccup was that they did not have the reservation that I had made. After a little polite insistence, after they mentioned that we could eat at the bar, we were offered a table and served with politeness. It is not overpriced. Worth the money.

We ate in the wine bar that is connected to the main restaurant. The wine selection was impressive both by the glass and bottle. All the wines are from Italy with many regions represented. The two bartenders/servers were wonderful. Both had a great attitude and were very knowledgable. According to them, the owners mother makes all the pasta fresh daily. There is a bar menu but you can also order off the main restaurant menu. They will even let you order 1/2 orders of the pastas which is what we did. One was homemade ravioli stuffed with cheese and a pistachio sauce. Fantastic! There are some happy hour specials at very reasonable prices.

Went to dinner with my family on a cold night. Everything was wonderful. Service was good. Food excellent. Only downside was were seated next to heat unit. Felt good at first. Then got very warm. That aside would go back anytime to eat. Food was perfect.

A truly great Italian restaurant where an incredible wine selection matches every magic flavor that comes out of the kitchen. Take your time and enjoy several small courses...the staff always has good recommendations and the food is always fresh and delicious

My wife, who is generous and accepting, offered one word to describe iTrulli, "skimpy". Other than the veal chop, the meal lacked the opulence and flavorful expression of Italian food. The service was first class, but who spends $300.00 for four just to be served well ? As loud and large was the space, so was the food empty and bland. Not a destination restaurant.

Good food, nice atmosphere...service was ok, but they asked 20% tip as mandatory! What is just not acceptable! :/

Somewhere in this world there must be an Italian restaurant that has a colder approach and a more profound lack of hospitality -- but it would be hard to find. I Trulli is a large, factory-style upscale restaurant. We met friends there who had already been served drinks, and we waited 10 minutes before an order-taker asked if we wanted same. Meanwhile lower-rank staff whizzed by and smacked down menus, breadsticks, and bread on our table, without so much as a hello. These last two food items are charged some $2-$3 each, which we only learned later when viewing the menu. It was almost amusing to watch staff congregate at the stations with computer-order screens, tapping over and over and over again to enter orders, like a flock of woodpeckers. Eventually it became distracting. They spent more time doing this than serving food or talking to customers. We suspect the order-taking software requires a lot of searching and selecting, before finally displaying the item being ordered. Service was so harried, it was almost frantic, reminding us of a hospital emergency room. The restaurant has a compulsory 20% service charge and does not allow tipping. It would be tempting to blame this policy as the reason why the staff treats customers in an overly-brisk manner; however, that would be too easy to say. Every restaurant has its own idealized culture, and staff are trained and controlled to attain it. Here the culture is centered on maximum speed and minimum customer contact. The food ranged from very good to excellent.

Loved my dinner. We met clients/friends and the food was great. The owner sat down and told us his story and recommended a great bottle of wine that was reasonable. The service was excellent.

good food, very good service, a bit loud but not bad. Overall, a good choice you won't regret. Staff are quite respectful.

I Trulli is one of those family-owned gems that never disappoints. The owner was seated next to us with his mother and other family for their Sunday night dinner - he gets up repeatedly to check on our order, he brings a salad we didn't order (or pay for) to tide us over while the main dishes were prepared, he recommended the wine, his mother too checked on our wellbeing. I had a huge steak and my wife a specially-made pasta not on the menu - they do that, just ask. Everything excellent and cheery. Quiet. Fire burning through it was May. Love it.

Food (homemade pastas!!) are wonderful. Service and ambiance are excellent. Very nice outdoor patio.

Walked in to I trulli tonight and the two gentleman at the front desk were so nasty that if I wasn't attending a private party I would have left. The effort of taking my coat and directing me to the back room seemed too great an effort for them. And that was just the beginning. Three servers stood by the door and my three requests for club soda fell on deaf ears. And it went downhill from there. The food was tasty but did not make up for the lack of attention paid to us. No toilet paper and dirty bathrooms were the last straw. Will NEVER go back.

I found this restaurant by chance as it was next door the Jazz Standard I was staying nearby, Amazing Italian wine list from 40dollars to 500 dollars of course I chose the most expensive The food was very well cooked , fresh and well flavoured , scampi recommended by the head waiter excellent . My wife enjoyed the liver and starters of some sort of salad , I had stuffed calamari . Very good friendly service . Would eat their again . Usual angry rant about 20pcent service charge bloody outrageous , that's the standard for NYC .

My wife and I visited New York for a short weekend trip and we stopped by before going to a show. We were early and one of the first in, but we were rewarded by being able to talk with the owners and had great personalized service. We took advantage of the Restaurant Month special and asked for there wine recommendations with each course. We both loved the food, was very well executed and presented. The wines were wonderful and we even went across the street to the wine shop and bought a bottle to take with us. Put this place on your list to visit, worth the visit.

My wife and I enjoyed the multi-course Apulian Feast. We dines outside in the back, which is delightful. The food and service were excellent as usual. The wine list is outstanding. We have dined here many times and definitely will return.

Warm and welcoming spot for fine Italian cooking that will not disappoint. The cozy fireplace and brick oven are you clues here. Nice bar. The staff is friendly and attentive. The braised short ribs were sooooo tender. If you prefer seafood served the way you like it all you have to do is ask. On the street parking is nearby.

Had dinner here with a friend last Saturday night. Given the recent frigid weather in NYC, I really appreciated the open wood burnig fireplace. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We were unfamiliar with Pugliese cuisine. The staff was very helpful in suggesting a reasonably priced wine from the region. We went with their "Taste of Puglia" menu and it was great. We arrived at 630 and ran out the door at 745 to make it to the show we were seeing. The staff knew what we were doing and served us accordingly I give this place a high recco, but it has to be the right situation.

We held a most successful dinner for 28 at one of my favorite Murray Hill haunts! They put us in the back of the main room; comfortably occupying 4 tables. The food, service and wine pourings were delicious. The room comfortably accommodated our substantial party with all its laughter and noise partitioned away from other diners. The four course dinner was both creative and true to what makes this one of the most consistent, best value restaurants in Manhattan. Nicola is the ultimate host who made all 28 of us fell welcomed and appreciated. His Massoferrato Sangiovese liters were a huge hit with the crowd. We're all coming back!

I have been a patron of I Trulli for many years. I always enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. I recently went with a group for dinner and was shocked at big decline in the food particularly. [ I have not been there in at least 9 months]. We were a party of 8 and not one person was happy with their meal. Ravioli was lukewarm at best. Pasta bolognese dry, Malloreddus, a specialty of the house was hard as a rock. Swordfish was tough [ yes tough] as if it had been frozen. The caponata was just awful....mostly red peppers with some olives...and salty. In addition, the entire feeling of the place was different. I heard that there is a different chef [ don't know if that is true] but either way a restaurant of this level should always be good. Too bad. This is now off my list.

We have been to this fine dining place at least 10 times over the years. Very good Italian food with an emphasis on homemade pastas. For years, the family's Nonna made the pasta, but I do not think this happens anymore. There is a garden in the back that is lovely in the summer. There is a fireplace for heat in the winter. Not worth a special trip, but if in the neighborhood, it is worth checking out.

We stopped in partially on a whim, but also after hearing that their Orecchiette in a rabbit ragu was awesome. We were immediately sat upon arrival and were tended to by our waiter immediately as well. Menus and wine list were brought out and a solid recommendation on a wine was made once I had explained what I was looking for. We started with the Polpette (meatballs) which were good, but lacked a little salt. I of course went with the Orecchiette, which lived up to its reputation, and my wife had the Cavatelli which was good, but not great. Service was fantastic and friendly the entire evening. I was really glad to see that the Orecchiette was as good as it was advertised, but I wish that the other meals were a little better. That's what prevented me from giving them 4 stars for food. Restaurant is very nice and quaint as well. I don't know when I will be back, but I do recommend the restaurant ultimately.

We had dinner tonight on the last night of New York restaurant week. We had great service and the fixed menu was delicious.

Highly recommended the best chicken parm I’ve ever had he had a seafood linguini dish we both loved each other’s entrees and we shared a smaller portion of rabbit ragu it was so good we were hesitant at first but glad we tried it. The service was the best the owner & host chatted with us a bit which showed they truly take pride in how customers are treated. I wish I could get the message to the host we went to see Beetlejuice after it was really good and he should go see it. We would definitely be back here! Thank you for making my birthday special.

I Trulli gets its name from the traditional homes in the bucolic Puglia region of Italy, famous for its tomatoes, olives and of course beaches. Luckily, the restaurant doesn't attempt to duplicate the hackneyed "rustic charm" one often sees in myriad "traditional" Italian restaurants in New York City. Instead I Trulli settles into a classy, charming calm. The service was unobtrusive but attentive. I ordered the farro salad and a mahi mahi fillet. The salad was rich and flavorful but not overpowering, while the fish was succulent and delectable despite being pan-fried. Despite being around the block from my office I had never visited I Trulli until I saw it on Seated. I will make sure to give it serious consideration for my next work lunch or dinner.

Extremely overpriced for the food you get. Steak was burnt and had to be sent back twice! Staff need to learn how to be more humble and welcoming. Not a comfortable restaurant at all. Atmosphere was terrible. For a Saturday night in NYC, most of the restaurant was empty. Says a lot for NYC in the summertime! Would never go back and would never recommend to anyone.

What a delightful restaurant ... I don't remember my bartender's name, but she was just delightful, and super service oriented and great with food and wine advice ... she's from Poland, and just super awesome! OK, the food and wine ... I had the "better" Classico and it was perfect .. the burrata, the bread, and PASTA, wowza! Don't be afraid of the rabbit ragu, it was awesome and most pasta's are home made. The meatballs were awesome (could have been a bit warmer), but awesome ... the only part that was just ok was the swordfish ... it was kind of fried maybe, almost like swiss style with heavy breading, good - not great, but ok. I wish it was more with simple lemon and capers and olive oil ... dessert, the ricotta cheesecake was excellent ... So, I give the place a 5 star review, excellent ... ok OUTSTANDING service, excellent food, and home made pasta, ... great work - go and you will enjoy!

We heard about i Trulli featured on a tv segment with home made pasta by a lady doing it there for 30 years so we dined for our 13th wedding anniversary. Started with mussels in white wine sauce. About 10 did not open. The kitchen should have removed them. Entrees were ravioli stuffed with ricotta. A nice size serving but there were almost no ricotta. Some of the ravioli were flat. I've eaten supermarket frozen ravioli many times better stuffed with ricotta. My husband ate the pasta special of a homemade version similar to tortellini stuffed with truffle artichoke on a delicious sauce. There were only eight. That size portion would have been ok as appetizer but not main entree. We chose desserts which were very good of chocolate tart with expresso gelato, 3 different gelatos of kiwi, mango and raspberry. Third dessert was tiramisu. See attached photo. Service was excellent. Very attentive personnel. The bill was doubled what it should have been for the servings we received. Very disappointed.

I really like this homey place that serves excellent pasta dishes and does not overdo the additives that sometimes drive up the costs. they produce top notch Italian classics but do them very well. They grill well and handle vegetables especially nice. I find their desserts a little high in price. I do go back there at least 4-5 times per year.

I hadn't been here in years … primarily because I have been out of the country. But, when a colleague suggested that we get together for Italian for lunch, I recalled I Trulli … and I am glad that I did. The pastas were superb, and the lamb chops even better. The wine list is exclusively Italian wines, many of which I have never come across previously. The restaurant has various verticals … all wines from the same vineyard at the same price. We tried the 2008 derthona timorasso, a white wine from terralba in Piemonte; very novel and well priced … an enjoyable wine. My only request would be for them to obtain some Sambuca Negro to enjoy with post-meal espresso.

This wonderful Southern Italian restaurant is celebrating "The Feast of the Seven Fishes", a tradition still honored in many Italian households at Christmas time. I'm reminded of the many Christmas eves when fish (especially eels!) reigned supreme in our neighborhood on Christmas eve. No eels here, fortunately, however, the price fixed menu included an appetizer (peeky crab salad) a pasta (mussels, shrimp and wide noodles) and a main course, (monk fish, swordfish, e.g.). Three of the four of us ordered the seven fish special; not being a fish eater, I ordered from the menu and can recommend the sausage with broccoli rabe, the meatballs made with veal and beef, and a wonderful and spicy pasta. The fish special included enough desert for the four of us. The wine list by the glass provides excellent choices, unusual by the glass. I Trulli is a special place to dine and one that needs to be on your short list in a city overwhelmed with Italian restaurants.

was taking a friend to lunch to thank them for working on a project...wanted it to be special....i dont mind paying top dollar but i resent paying even two cents for a bad meal.....not that this was a very bad meal but it was overpriced for what was ordered...the panzerotti....a calzone with ricotta and prosciutto was doughy and difficult to cut...the mozzarella was not warm ...and there was no flavor which seems to be a problem with this restaurant as even the better dish i ordered lacked flavor.....had sea scallops which were like rubber sent them back and even the waiter (who must have tasted those remaining) agreed ..ordered the roasted sea bass with lentils ..nice crust on the fish ....again no flavor....ordered lemon to help get through eating this fish.....the desserts were much better however,,,,the first one i ordered was not available..the second one i ordered was not available.... is this still a restaurant ?? will not return and will not advise you to go there.

We were in New York City for a short visit with friends and this restaurant was recommended while we were visiting their winery in Italy. Absolutely a great experience. Awesome wine list and homemade pasta that made us feel as though we were back in Italy. Great service! Highly recommend the Pistachio Ravioli.

I Trulli is a family-run southern Italian restaurant in Manhattan with excellent service. There is a working fireplace and white table linens. Sunday afternoon was a quiet time for a meal with family members. We liked the chicken. The striped bass and cod dishes were very tasty, but the entre portions are quite small. You would need 2 or 3 courses here to feel full. The lasagna, also on the small size, did not impress us. If you are dieting, you could add an extra star, but we think the owners could make portions larger. Wine by the glass is $12 and up. In case you were wondering, there are pictures of "trulli" on the wall in the foyer. Trulli are dry stone huts with a conical roof made of bricks, found in southern Italy.

Approximately 10 years ago I read about this restaurant in City Secrets NYC. I ended up with my sons both living nearby. This is an excellent restaurant that it is off the tourist grid. We ate as a family on Good Friday and the meal and wine were excellent. We ordered too much food but everything was good from the octopus, calamari and more for appetizers to a first course of three of the homemade pastas split for the table. The main course special of Halibut was excellent. The wine selection is impressive and covers every price point. Relax and enjoy.

15 years ago i lived in the city was a regular at this wonderful place. Last night i returned after many years to yet another outstanding meal. I love its rustic quality - authentic regional food, earthy, not effete. The excellent wine list has an outstanding selection of southern italian reds (in addition to, of course, the expected Barolos and Brunellos). I ate wonderful sardines, and an interesting chick pea fritter with mozzarella (artistically presented). It is a bussling place - one is politely and efficiently served, not fawned over. A great place to enjoy a relaxing and affordable (by NY standards) meal. 5 Stars!

We attended a dinner party with a little over 30 other people last night at I Trulli on East 27 street. The separate room for the party was pleasant, in the back and away from the main dining room. There were three tables but the space was too crowded for people to mingle or move around in. Because of terrible traffic getting into the city and trouble parking, we were late and the appetizers were already on the table. I don't know if we missed any other offerings but we did have some of the octopus and meatballs. I can't help but say that Greek restaurants serve much better octopus and I make better meatballs myself at home. They were soft, had no texture to them, and even the sauce lacked flavor. Red pepper flakes would have helped and when we looked for salt and pepper, there were none on the table. The mixed greens salad was okay but again, freshly cracked pepper would have been a nice improvement. There were five choices for the main course. My husband loved the Polletto with sausage and broccoli rabe and my orecchiette with rabbit ragu was excellent. Others who ordered the Pesce del Mercato were also very pleased but unfortunately the same can't be said about the Tagliere. It arrived rare, too rare!, in spite of both requests for medium rare. One woman turned it back and asked for something else. The other person didn't bother and left most of it on the plate. It was very noticeable that waiters were very quick to fill wine glasses, even reaching over unsuspecting shoulders, but never once coming to ask if we needed water or anything else. Dessert was ordered at the same time as the main course. Someone raved about the chocolate dessert so several at our table ordered that. I was not at my seat when desserts arrived so I didn't get to question why the entire table was served Tiramisu instead. Did the chocolate desserts go to another table or were there not enough to go around? I don't know. The plates also had a slice of a weak excuse for chocolate birthday cake. Since neither the birthday cake nor the tiramisu were good I don't have any guilt today about last night's dinner. Sorry about writing a review like this but my advice is to anyone hosting a party in the city, consider other options or choose the menu carefully.

A really popular restaurant recommended to us by the hotel. Home made Italian food which was everything you want from an Italian Restaurant. Busy, noisy and bustling. Great food and wine. Would go again for sure.

This is a very nice Italian restaurant with waiters that anticipated our every need. Although Italian we ended up getting the seafood special. The restaurant isnt cheap but by NY standards reasonable. We had a lovely romantic dinner.

Excellent food (not just the handful of staples of ‘Italian’ cuisine in NYC), particularly the pasta. Cosy, welcoming atmosphere. Warm, highly professional service. Food reasonably priced, wines less so (and too many listed wines not in stock).

Came here on a Saturday night and although great reviews and busy, they were able to seat me outside with no reservation. Ordered the main course (veal chop) which was amazingly succulent, and a had glass of very nice Puglia wine. Service was friendly, though a tad slow at times (mainly due to the number of customers). Food was delicious and the wine good too, but for the price, come here for a treat.

If you want to taste the real Italian food you should come here!! I've been in NY for holidays with my boyfriend and we decided to try this place for dinner after days spent eating hamburgers, chips and steaks. Since I come from the south of Italy, I was initially disheartened about, but at the first bite I thought: OMG!! It's even better than lot of typical restaurants in Italy. The gnocchi, also orecchiette, all the pasta and ingredients were great!! You can really find that it is homemade. We tasted also a really good San Giovese red wine, perfectly fitted with our plates choices. Nicola made me feel at home! Thanks for this experience, we surely come back!

I was directed to a table in a pitch dark spot in the "garden". I wasn't able to read the menu and worse I wouldn't be able to see the food. I moved inside and took a seat at the bar. I choose the Coda di Rospo • monkfish osso buco with green pea ravioli, clams & spinach at 28$US. After ordering I was told that they run out of clams and would replace them with shrimps. The monkfish looked good when served. The plate was not warm enough resulting in the (skinny-thin) ravioli being not warm either. After taking two bites from the monkfish I realized the fish was still 60% raw. The waiter looked in horror at the fish, took it away and told me it would be replaced. 10 minutes later I was served the same (cold) plate, the same (re-fried)monkfish with the 2 bites missing, cold raviolis and cold spinash. They did not even clean the plate or re-plate or re-heated the food. Even McDonalds or Burger King serves new items when problems. iTrulli doesn't but charges US$30 for a dish. Shame on you iTrulli.

Ate in the restaurant. I had starters and mains, my companion also had dessert. Everything seemed freshly sourced and cooked. The service was faultless, helpful without being overbearing. It was the best meal I had in NYC.

The rooms with the fireplace are nice and the enclosed patio outside is fine, but there is something missing. The food is fine also. My wife had a sausage appetizer and a chicken entrée which were fine. I had the burrata and the rack of lamb. Neither one of us had complaints. We finished it off with espresso and grappa. Those were fine also. There is just something missing.........no energy..........no spirit to bring you back the next time.

Driver recommend this place as he knew the owner. We met the owner and had a wonderful chat. He made some recommendations on the wine and food that were excellent. Very extensive wine list that goes from that is medium price to the sky. Food is very reasonable and tasty. You will enjoy this place. Busy but not too noisy and fun to be at.

I don't want to be critical, but we ate in this restaurant 2 weeks after returning from a vacation in Apulia. So we had high expectations and some very genuine experiences to compare this food to. The restaurant serves the food of Apulia- Italy's heel. The menu is representative of the food of Apulia/Puglia. Lot's of veggies, multiple rabbit dishes, fish, some veal and no beef, orechiette pasta fava bean puree with dandelion greens; all typical of the region. But everything was just a little bit lacking, too chewy, too bland or not just right. The food is fine but not what he hoped for. Service is prompt and food comes out of the kitchen quickly. I am hard pressed to go to 4 stars but would really give it a 3.5 if available.

The garden is lovely but on the hot humid night we stayed in the air conditioned dining salon....which can become a bit noisy around 6 - 7pm when the milleniums get off from work. This is strictly Italian culture, Italian food, the real thing. I had a black linguine with clams delicious and so generous a service...yes, I took some home. The ambiance is pleasant and the waiters patient, no rush here.

Great place, fire place. Appetizers were all very good. Eggplant, grilled calamari, grilled octopus, Chickpea Fritters with goat cheese. Main course Veal chops were terrific, with broccoli rape and roasted baby potatoes. Orecchiette with Rabbit Ragu was delicious. Nice selection of moderate priced wines.

We arrived for dinner early, but the manager seated us right away. The service was friendly and excellent. The menu was food prepared Pugliese style, and was really excellent, including the polpo (octopus) appetizer and the espada (sword fish) entree. Sword fish can be tough, but this was tender and well-prepared. We'll go again. It was rather expensive, but well worth the cost.

While it pales in comparison to Rome, it is a step above your average NY Italian. Sit in the back garden, its weatherized for year round.

The room and the patio in back are delightful. The service is friendly and attentive. The food however is just ordinary, not bad, not expensive, just ordinary. Appetizers, 10 to $16. Main dishes, 18 to $28

We are here as a family with three children aged 9 to 15. All were able to find something enjoyable to eat. Atmosphere is very good and food is well prepared although not outstanding. Despite the fact that the children only had one course and some olives and breadsticks, and drank tap water, it came to $250 (including to be fair three glasses of wine). Some of the cost comes from 20% "administration fee", which has replaced tips and feels a bit presumptuous. More one for adults only as it seemed expensive for what we got for the children.

We tried itrulli on the spur of the moment after reading favorable reviews, since it was easy walking distance from where our friends live. It was a lovely surprise - walking in, it is a very spacious restaurant with an outdoor garden area. We chose to sit inside due to the hot weather. The service was professional and attentive. We decided to try several dishes family style; there were six of us and everything looked so good, it was hard to choose just one thing. We started with three different salads and a clam dish, moved on to some pastas and then some meats. All were absolutely delicious and the server timed the plate arrival beautifully. We were too full for dessert, and there were no leftovers at all. I highly recommend the lamb and the short ribs, but the ravioli with pistachio sauce and the veal chop were excellent as well. You won't be disappointed in anything you order here,

I reviewed this restaurant in August of last year, voting it the best of all we had tried during our New York holiday. Later I invited a guest for dinner and chose I Trulli again. Intended to write a review but forgot. But I can now report that it was an excellent meal in their lovely back garden. Had a nice chat with the proprietor - gave me a chance to practise my Italian! Can't remember all the details now, but I do remember we ordered wines by the glass so that we could experiment with a few. The Negroamaro was out of this world. So much for last year. During this year's holiday my partner and I were in the neighbourhood after a theatre show and decided to try the I Trulli Enoteca. Helpful bartender/waitress guided us through various antipasti and charcuterie. We each went for a different flight of red wines - a great way of trying different wines, comparing, analysing, but above all enjoying. The kind of meal we had depended solely on the ingredients, as cooking wasn't involved. Without exception, everything we had was top class, the olives in particular being exquisite. The only drawback was that our waitress left early but kindly introduced us to Joe, who would be looking after us. Well, Joe, you'll have to put a little bit of effort into your job; you seemed to be in another world. We were waiting for an age for our second "flights" to arrive, when - lo and behold, Benjamin (our waiter from the previous year) came in from the main restaurant, sorted things out and had a lovely chat with us. Writing reviews regularly for TA clarifies things and makes me more aware of just how much good service means. So, thanks again to Benjamin for helping to make our visit to I Trulli memorable.

We've been coming here for 20 plus years, but had not been back for q good while; we learned that the restaurant has split its space into its more traditional restaurant and then a newer space for smaller plates for the millenial crowd. We ate in the back garden, which is still the "traditional" restaurant and had our usual excellent meal...great service, great food and a fair and thoughtful wine list. And, come to think of it, having a separate space to appeal to millenbials is a good idea...as they can be loud and rude with only themselves to bother! Bravo I Trulli!!!

If you are looking for a restaurant that is beautiful , romantic , cozy AND serves the finest Italian food ...then forget going to Little Italy and visit i Truli on East 27th instead . My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this fine establishment 2 weeks ago. We were warmly greeted and taken to a table in the quiet back corner of the restaurant .It was a cold night and the fireplace was a nice surprise. The service was top notch, the food was absolutely delicious , the wine list had something for everyone and the prices for everything were great . We had a wonderful night and look forward to returning many times. I believe we have said good bye to Mulberry Street.

We were early for dinner, so we went to the happy hour at their bar. We tried some of the happy hour specials, finger food, treats. Very tasty and priced right. Dinner began at 530, and was a delight, lasagna for me and a scallop/shrimp dish for my bride. Everything is handmade, made to order, melts in your mouth!

handmade, perfectly cooked pasta. What else do you want some nights? Interesting wine list, and there's a fun bar menu in the bar as well as flights to try unusual wines. I love the rustic interior and friendly staff.

My wife's swordfish was indelible , my lamb was good, the rest was good, the price Astonishing, twice what they earned. The restaurant is very nice and you should dress upscale a little. Service was great. But, no restaurant can survive with indelible food. Fish takes some culinary skill, and none was used this time.

Our second visit to this restaurant. Dora's spinach fettuccini with porcini mushrooms in olive oil topped with parmigiano reggiano cheese for me, whole Dorada fish for my wife. Pasta was to die for...worth the trip. Fish was excellent. Three courses each, had Sommelier pair wines with each course. Consistent excellent food, attentive service, great ambiance - wood burning fireplace can be enjoyed from both rooms as it shares a common wall. Note: 18% gratuity is now added to the bill but I still tipped our waiter another $20. Great dining experience, worth every penny.

Great food and top notch service...Seafood pasta was outstanding as well as the Lasagna and Pollo! Wonderful selection of Italian appetizers..The Cime di Rapa was terrific which was broccoli rabe and canneloni beans with extra virgin olive oil!

Watch the pasta be made. Outstanding food and service. They accomidated our large group(10) beautifully. Very nice wine list with a reasonably priced selection of 1 liter bottles available.

The unique cuisine of Puglia is rarely showcased in the US, so I Trulli stands out in a city awash in Neapolitan and Sicilian restaurants. We started with a Torta Altamurana, which was done perfectly. Barbabietole was a standout in creativity and deliciousness. For the pasta, the Malloreddus was the star, featuring saffron and sausage. Coniglio alla Barese, a succulent roasted rabbit, and the rack of lamb made perfect main courses. Unless you are in Puglia, you won't have a meal this authentic and delicious. Great service, and a wonderful wine list spanning multiple regions of Italy.

Cozy table; warm fire on a cool night; very friendly servers; and best of all, exquisite tastes, from the best ever pork medallions to the wonderful taste of pumpkin in the pan zucca. We eat here every time we come to New York. Combines the feel of a great place to eat with a neighborhood haunt.

Had a wonderful dinner there during restaurant week. Service was very welcoming and the fireplace was roaring! It is two-sided glass so overlooks two rooms. The food was very delicious. I had calzones as an appetizer with two different stuffings - one spinach and the other cheese and tomato. Main course was great as was the desert. I would definitely go back. I was impressed with the Tuscan feel to the place, and the consistent good service.

Excellent service and feel-good feel from the beginning on; no reservation, we changed tables twice due to cold/too warm air - no problem for the service. Excellent carpaccio as a starter, afterwards a wonderful tuna, perfectly prepared. My friend had a nice, moisty risotto with lobster - excellent! Even though a high level restaurant, as a client nice place to go into - also when you look for a relaxed atmosphere.

We had a get together with friends. Although the restaurant was crowded to start with (Holiday parties) we had a wonderful meal. The service was good and they did not rush us. The Orecchiette special for dinner was wonderful. We were disappointed that there was no grilled octopus but we made up for it with the grilled/stuffed calamari. The Coniglio (rabbit) was excellent. Definitely a place we will continue to go back to.

I'Trulli is just not another Italian Restaurant in NYC. It will not only impress you with their extensive and notable wine list but a menu that experience the true culture of this region in Italy which is Bari. Pasta and breads especially the Foccacia is amazing and are made on premise by Moma. Nicola, the proprietor takes special interest to each and every guest and very possible he will have a glass of wine with you at your table.

Here for drinks prior to a jazz concert at the Jazz Standard. This is a gem! The bar is beautiful and comfortable with a fantastic view out a large window to the street beyond. Great selection of premixed and well curated cocktails. I'll be back!

Overall, a decent traditional Italian restaurant with good service. While kind of noisy, a good group dinner

There aren't many restaurants in NYC that specialize in Puglian Cuisine. I Trulli is one of them, and in my opinion, it is one of the better Italian restaurants in the city. At I Trulli, you will have a a true fine dining experience, including food that is expertly prepared and delivered with excellent service. For me, consistency is the hallmark of a good "fine dining" restaurant. Meaning, you can order any item on the menu, on any day of the week, and it will be expertly prepared. At lesser restaurants, they may do two or three dishes very well and maybe not consistently. So, you are kind of taking your chances when you try it for the first time. Of course, the prices at I Trulli are also consistent with a fine dining experience. But, if you're looking to try out a new cuisine, this is the type of restaurant where I think it makes sense to do it.

We enjoyed the atmosphere here. The wine was good and the food was good. The price range seemed about right for the quality of food.

Great wait staff combined with authentic Italian food, a garden setting and a really nice wine selection made this a perfect night for a family gathering. This was a fine dining experience.

The salumi and cheese plate was a little expensive, but worth it. The pastas were reasonably priced. Portions were not huge but you would not walk away hungry. Try the Linguine Frutti di Mare, orecchiette with rabbit ragu and the Malloreddus (saffron dumplings with pork sausage). For dessert, the creme brulee and the semoline cake with plum sorbet were great.

The space is wonderful. Elegant but not stuffy. Sat in Garden area. Perfect!!! Great cocktails and authentic Italian food..... Service excellent. Highly recommend!

I haven't been to I Trulli in quite a while but it was a cold afternoon and felt like having a good pasta and it truly was like the last time and first time I was dined at I Trulli, superb..so delicious and well made pasta...don't overlook the wine list, is very well paired with the menu and a very knowledgeable Sommelier and good recommendation..I truly enjoy wines from the Langhe region it was perfectly matched with the dish I ordered...They have a very nice dining room with a Fireplace that kept us warm and comfortable that I could of stayed all evening...and as other readers have mentioned, very true they don't rush you and are very attentive staff just makes want to come back again and again...Check out their wine bar, is very good it was not open on Sunday but heard that it may be opened in the future..but do stop by during the week.. Buon appetito.

The luxurious simplicity of iTrulli is the perfect blend of flavors and depth. It's reputation is well deserved. Service was top-shelf, offerings were seasonal yet classic, and the ambiance on the patio was delightful. I will certainly return soon.

I Trulli has a back enclosed garden area, perfect on a hot summer night. Food is always dependable. They will make some dishes on request. My wife mixed a caprese appetizer on top of her spaghetti. Very good service and quiet. Simple decor. A neighborhood type place. Owner is there and attentive.

There is a very pleasant covered garden out back - delightful-and smaller informal enoteca upfront. Pastas are a specialty. Salads are nice. The gaspacho was not good-but hey it's not Italian anyway. Carefully chosen wine list-high prices by the glass-much cheaper during happy hour 3-7 in the enoteca. And the place draws a crowd despite having been open a number of years. Got a little loud closer to 8. We opened the outdoor dining room at 6. But good for conversation. Lovley indoor fireplace come fall....

We went with a large family group assembled for a wedding the next day. We had asked the concierge for a restaurant that would accomodate us and which would not be too loud so that we could all visit with each other, and this fit the bill perfectly. The service was attentive, they recommended a multi-item antipasti for the table for the group, and the food was fine. With a house wine and some shared desserts, came out to about $80 a head total.

Charming dining experience in the heart of Manhattan's Murray Hill. Been here several times, once to celebrate a birthday and again to entertain some out of town relatives. Friendly knowledgeable service, with great recommendations and specials. The $38 litre bottles wines are an incredible value. Relaxing atmosphere with no pressure to hurry. Be sure to get at least one order of the "Panelle" (chick pea fritters with goat cheese) for the table. The olives were delicious also. Another favorite is the rabbit ragu. We'll definitely be back again soon!

Named after the typical beehive houses in Puglia, this restaurant has been a favorite of mine for decades. Their pastas and seafood dishes are as good as any in NYC. It's wine selection is also outstanding. I value that they do flights of wine at the bar. A plus is you can go across the street and get any wines you like at their sister wine shop. You can also go next door to the Jazz Standard after dinner.

iTrulli is an excellent Italian restaurant in the Flatiron District. The menu selection, food quality and service are all very good. And the wine list is extensive - with many of the wines very expensive. So, ask for help - try the guy in charge rather than the sommelier - he can find something you like that is reasonable. The restaurant is large - with quite a few, very nice rooms. They are always busy - even during the week - so make a reservation.

Busy holiday weekend and this was the reservation I managed to snag for my family, and what a treat. Warm atmosphere where you can linger and enjoy. Amazing homemade Italian is simply the best. We will be back.

You can't go wrong in this just off Park Avenue South Italian gem. Attending the nearby Repertorio Espanol theater I received a 20 percent discount with my ticket. The restaurant is located down the block from that theater and also right next door to the famous Jazz Standard. If going to either venue you can't go wrong with a pre or post attraction dinner at I Trulli. I ordered the calves' liver and it was done to perfection. We start4ed off with a plate of cheeses and cured meats. The prices were reasonable although I thought the wines by the glass were over priced, although they had an interesting selection and not the usual suspects. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting - an air of formality and hominess all at once. I highly recommend it and hope to return soon.

My pasta dish was underwhelming, rather bland. The chickpea appetizer spread was a disappointment --very little taste. I will say, though, the roasted pork loin was SUPERB. the atmosphere is Lovely -- fireplace going in winter and a pretty and large garden area out back for summery weather. I would go for the atmosphere and not st my culinary expectations too high. Professional service.

I've liked this place but tonight the noise level was overwhelming--my group of 6 could barely manage a conversation--and maybe because that was such a bummer, the food seemed very below par too. I doubt if I'll return.

Not a memorable meal. The artichoke salad barely had artichokes In it. The cod is very average. Dinner mate ate a quarter of her lasagna. Another said the veal chop was good as well as the rabbit. The place was crowded and LOUD as can be. Would not return.

Poor service,a dull room ,and average food. Overall an upsetting evening. Shown to a table in the 2nd room even though there were plenty of tables in the main restaurant. I asked to move but was given an excuse saying no. Waited 15 mins to get someone's attention to get a menu. About the same time to order. Food ok. Side orders were forgotten and arrived towards the end of the main course. Cannelini beans were just slop. Like baby food. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

I've been a fan of I Truli for at least 25 years. I booked a table tonight not realizing it was Valentines Day. When I did, I figured it would be a bit of a night. Place was busy as would be expected for this holiday. But what no one expected was the place had rented out half the restaurant to a private party for a birthday celebration. This brought the kitchen to a halt. 2 1/2 hours after ordering and after the third time I asked the waiter if we would be able to eat there that night, I was heading into the kitchen to see what I could find. They immediately brought out our mains (forget the starters we ordered - who knows what happened to them!) which were mediocre at best. Cross this place off your list as management is obviously either on vacation or drinking heavily!

I Trulli is a quiet, neighborhood Italian, family run, unpretentious and delicious. Service is excellent, atmosphere pleasant and quiet with a working fireplace. The pastas are always good as are the wines. A nice place to meet other couples for a good meal where you can actually talk. If you want loud, go to Blue Smoke next door.

I've been to i truly many times and have never written a review. I truly serves Apulia cuisine from the Puglia region of Italy. I'm heading back to Puglia at the end of August and i truly is a great tune up before I go. the food is always incredibly well prepared. Nonna is out front making pasta (take her picture and risk her wrath). Any of the pastas are a great choice. They have "feef" - pureed fave beens with greens over it - one of only 2 restaurants in NY that I know of who serve this traditional vegetable offering. They now serve pizzas which are great also - we shared the porchetta pie - the description made it sound like there was a lot of ingredients. A light touch in the kitchen produced a truly wonderful pie. The waiter we had was an older no nonsense gentlemen who sort of mumbled and had an accent. He didn't give you flowery descriptions of the food - just a simple run down of the specials that I had to pay attention to understand - just like Italy. wine offerings are great and not the usual you find in restaurants - they own the wine store across the street. Can't say enough good things - you should go.

We have spent so many of our date night dinners here. The pasta is made in house and is consistently delicious. The risotto and Nutella calzones are always amazing choices.

The food and ambience was great and the waiter and somelier were exceptional. The pastas were quite fresh and the wine pairings enhanced the meal all the more.

Amazing Food and Staff. Elegant Setting. The best kept secret is Nonna Dora. She makes fresh pasta every day. Her secret ingredient is the passion she shows for her heritage. #bestitalianrestaurantnycitrulli

We saw lot of videos about hand made pasta at this restaurant so we thought we will give it a try. It was a busy place and we had to wait at first. Once settled we order food and it was like normal and not worth of the price and the time. Will never go again.

I had the sea bass and it was flavorless, dry, and over cooked. My dad ordered the broiled rabbit and it was chewy and tough. Not a place I’d visit again. Service was great tho, not food

Went on a Tuesday during lunch in December, and experienced no issues with my reservation. Restaurant was crowded, and delivery of our entrees was just a bit slow, not a big deal. We ordered buffalo mozzarella with tomatoes and two plates of pasta. Mozzarella was outstanding. Fresh and delicate. Tomatoes were sweet and tasty. Fresh Orecchiette were cooked well and had the perfect texture. Rabbit sauce was not gamy or over overpowering. My only issue was the $18 price for a bowl of pasta. Understand that it's New York, but it's extremely expensive and difficult to justify for lunch. The other pasta dish we ordered was the ceci. Not dry and very tasty if you enjoy chic peas. Expresso was very strong and not served short. If you re accustomed to eating in Italy, then the quality will compare, but not quite the same and of course... Much more expensive. With that said, I will definitely return because the food is very good and freshly prepared. Buon divertimento.

First time ever but was cozy! Food was good & service was excellent! Glad the first time & looking forward to be back again!

I had wanted to try this place for a while, and on a recent trip to New York, I brought the people I was staying with to dinner here. This is a very high quality restaurant, but at the same time unpretentious - which I love. I had read about the famous orecchiette with rabbit ragu and wanted to try it, because the owner's mother makes the pasta in house. However, I didn't want a regular portion that would spoil my appetite for anything else. Our server (excellent throughout as you'd expect in a place like this) suggested a small portion, which was perfect. The pasta was tender and the rabbit ragu was cooked down to perfect richness. For my main course, I had the roasted sea bass (NOT unsustainable Chilean) served on a bed of lentils with roasted fennel. Wow! One of my friends, who visits Italy often and stays with Italian friends, said her pasta (Fettucini or linguini - can't recall) was the best she had ever had. This is not an inexpensive place - count on spending about $100 per person with wine. But it's totally worth it. Save your pennies and go! (But remember to make a reservation. It fills up quickly.)

We went there with our 2 kids for an early dinner. The linguini, penne, pasta & fish were very good and tasty. They have a very large selection of wine. We had a bottle of red wine with the main course and all in all, a very good dinner. We were sitting next to the nice pizza oven, but for whatever reasons, they don’t serve pizza which somehow disappointed our kids. Difficult to argue if they see a pizza oven and then the restaurant does not serve pizza.

My wife and I enjoyed our second amazing meal at i Trulli's outdoor dining. There was a lot of space between the tables and the food (including Nonna Dora's home made pasta) was amazing, as usual. And we enjoyed the house Massaferrato Rosato wine.

Stumbled onto this restaurant for lunch on the first day of Restaurant Week. The $29 lunch menu was outstanding. We had the octopus salad, meatballs and mozzarella caprese and they were all delicious. The two pasta dishes were super. The other course was was a wage hanger steak which was tender and fantastic. The striped bass was perfect as was the pounded chicken Milanese with salad on top. Dessert was a delightful pana cotta and a terramasu which could have been a bit more moist. The wait staff was outstanding especially Leonel. The bartender Caterina from Venice gave us a few suggestions for my visit to Venice next week. A return visit is on my calendar

This beautiful little restaurant charms from the moment you walk in the door. We are always welcomed like family. Beautifully seasonal seating options include tables next to wood burning fireplace in the winter or the lovely garden patio in spring and summer. Handcrafted pastas will delight especially when paired with wines from the carefully curated all Italian wine list. Don't miss this gem!

I've had my share of Italian food in the city and this place was good. It ranks, but just not up there with the best. The service was a little underwhelming as well. We had the lasagna which was pretty good. The temperature was not hot but just warm. We also got the meatballs as an app. They were just ok. We decided on this place because we wanted some place close to where we were staying and that had last minute availability. We would have selected another place had we planned ahead. Good but not great.

We sat in the garden, it was just like Italy, The food was superb; home style Italian cooking, no unnecessary flourishes just good ingredients cooked to perfection.

While there are hundreds of Italian restaurants in and around NYC, iTrulli offers a very unique sample of the country's finest dishes. I would say that its less traditional with a few nice surprises. The pasta, which I'm totally in love with is made to your liking with the flexibility of a variety of sauces. I had the seafood linguine, (al Dente as always), and the catch of the day was fresh not frozen. I selected a oil & garlic white wine sauce, lightly salted, sufficiently perfected to taste the pasta. My girlfriend had the Spigola while lusted after the Frutti di Mar. Her sauce was out of this world and wished that she wouldn't have finished it so I could pick up the leftovers. Although limited in wine (by the glass) each and everyone is delicious. We tried the Grillo 2011 from Sicilia, a lighter varietal. The service is great, and the waiter read us the specials. He knew the wine very well and was experienced with the cuisine. Ambiance is very warm and the outdoor seating leaves you with the additional option of dining outdoors in a city laden with brick. We really enjoyed it and will likely go back there at some point.

Our business lunch here left us mixed feeling. While its food choice and taste are great, offering a different southern Italian food from Puglia, we found its service is slow and place is noisy and dark during the afternoon meal. We like its steak and pasta. Salad is also a good choice.

We came here with my best friend and her mom after deciding not worth looking for a street parking near Hotel Kitano, which we planned to have our lunch. Then my friend thought about this place. When we arrived at I Trulli, it was empty. Everybody in NYC decided to be on diet. As we all know, most restaurants in NY are usually less crowded in the summer. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious, which includes a garden section in the back completes with wooden roof slightly open to let the sun in. The garden is nice for any events. My friend's mom and I ordered eggs with vegetable combo in a hot plate (like frittata), hubby got himself some pizza, my friend had beet salad citrus starter and then a plate of ravioli with pistachio. Everyone enjoyed the meal. I tried the pizza; it's ok, nothing great and nothing bad. They have 4-5 pizza selections on the menu. Antipasti section was pretty amazing. My meal was cooked to perfection and it was delicious. It was hot in temperature and stayed hot forever. Go for it! There're 2 restrooms the patrons could go to; they're located on both sides of the dining area. After the meal I had a lovely cup of cappuccino yay! Somehow this restaurant looked very familiar to me. Perhaps I had visited this in the past, the pre-review era time (years ago). Whatever the case is, enjoy your lunch!

Nicolas is an amazing host, His mother makes the pasta, and all his pastas (especially the safran) are amazing. Ask for his own wine he makes in Tuscany and enjoy his amazing company.

Wonderful dinner experience at iTrulli. Excellent, professional, unhurried service. Good wine recommendation -- hit the mark on taste and price. We particularly enjoyed the mini calzones for the appetizer. Pasta and fish dishes beautifully presented and memorable! Save room for dessert -- lots of great choices.

The food was under seasoned and not much of it,not what I expected from reviews I read about this place. While the service was excellent the value, in my opinion, is below average.I don't think we"ll be returning.

We were waiting more after reading reviews in OpenTable an TA. In short, it was ok food with high prices (and yes, I know it's expensive in NYC). Not worth second visit, I'm sorry to say.

Authentic Italian service and menu. Tasty home made pasta. Awesome lasagna. Meatballs highly recommended.

Went here for Mother's Day with my family and 1.5 year old . The restaurant was 1/4 full but service was extremely slow . Took 30 minutes to get bread to the table and with a toddler it was a nightmare. The staff seemed friendly but the pace of service was just not acceptable. Asked for peach juice with my champagne- they told me they would check but never returned with an answer. Asked for salt but it never came -- salt was needed as the food was pretty much tasteless . Ordered a grilled octopus appetizer - which was so bad I couldn't even eat it , it was chewy wet and limp - not grilled or charred as it should be. Told the waiter he didn't seem to care and didn't take it off the bill. Burrata was good but needed salt (which we didn't have ) and was served over shredded lettuce which made no sense. They never took our entree order and we had to flag someone down for this - again the place wasn't busy so I can only imagine how slow it would be if it was. Best thing we had were the mini cheese calzones but i didn't plan to waste 3 hours of my Mother's Day and $400 on something I could have gotten at Sal's pizza on the corner. Don't waste your time or money with this place!

Good service. Service was fine and not overwhelming is as in some Anerican restaurants. Food was decent but not more then that. The pasta as an appetizer was home made and very tastefull. I had the suggestion of the day which was a T bone steak. I specifically asked for medium rare but it was cooked well done which is a pity for such a nice piece of meat.... Nice place and decent food but not more then that. Overpriced if you compare with European standards.

Saturday night dinner for 3 of us. Warmlyb welcomed and seated in a beautiful garden. Our waiter was efficient, friendly and helpful. Very professional. Took our drink order. Bread brought to the table was very good. We were not rushed to order. Very nice wine list with various price point. Menu has a nice variation of appetizers, pastas and entrees. We chose the octopus and meat ball appetizers to share among the 3 of us. It was enough for the 3 of us and each dish was delicious especially the octopus. We had two whole grilled fish as entrees plus a pastan side dish. Both were excellent. Two if us had a glass of wine. We had a plate of cookies for dessert. If you are looking for great place to have dinner in a garden setting this restaurant is terrific. Dinner for then 3 of us came to about $215 without the tip.

Superb service, diverse excellent food selection in warm ambiance. Extensive wine list. An outstanding dining experience: warm, welcoming and delicious. We will be back.

The atmosphere is cozy and the food was good. The chickpea fritters, calamari and artichoke salad were the highlights. Overall it was very pleasant but not particularly special. A fine choice, but would not go out of my way to eat here.

Great local Italian restaurant with some very nice/different options. The orecchiette w/rabbit ragu was amazing, the Pesto ravioli were light and very tasty. Service was good as they were patient explaining the menu options. This particular visit was VERY loud

Best Meat Balls!!!! And the pistachio sauce ravioli to die for.... A must if in the city... Great service, great house wine, charming place!!!

We found this place by accident on our way to the New York comedy club and it was brilliant. I had pasta with a rabbit ragu which was absolutely delicious, I'd never tasted anything like it before. My partner and my Dad had a saffron and sausage pasta which they also really enjoyed. I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area

Visited I Trulli for dinner on a busy Friday night and was impressed - food was mostly exceptional, service was great, pleasant atmosphere, and extensive Italian wine list. Will absolutely be back. This restaurant seemed authentic and was better than most of the restaurants I visited on a recent two week trip to Italy. Specifically, the Ceci e Tria pasta with chickpeas is exceptional. Somewhat simple, but one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. The sea bass was delicious - flavorful, moist and perfectly crispy. My friend got the pork shank and loved it too. Only thing that wouldn't recommend is the Pugliese Pavarotti (calzone appetizer) as the olive flavor is overpowering. Also, the bread/focaccia is fantastic and easy to fill up on this before food arrives, especially with the creamy spread provided.

Thought I had written a review for this restaurant already. We have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed. The service is attentive but not pushy. The wine list is as impressive as the food they serve. They make their own pasta, you can tell it's fresh. They serve panzerotti which is a type of calzone, with different fillings. Don't pass them up, they're really good! Pasta, fish or meat, they are all worth trying. Inside is warm and cozy during Winter. They have an outside patio for warm weather, it's very comfortable. You'll spend a few extra dollars here depending on the food you choose. It's worth it. We will continue to go back.

Went to a wedding meal at this restaurant. Was beautiful setting, eating in the courtyard which was ideal as it was a hot July day. The food was lovely, serving around three course for about $80-90 per head (including drinks). The building was everything I had expected from a NY Italian, quaint, beautiful decor and the aroma all adding to the atmosphere. Would defiantly visit again!

My family and friends had a wonderful meal here. The pasta is amazing. I tried the pistachio ravioli and have craved it ever since. The staff is very italian and attentive your wine and drink levels. After the meal we stayed for desert and casual drinks and had a great evening. I would recommend making a reservation (opentable). Try the meatballs and pasta. Enjoy!

My husband and I had been at this lovely Italian restaurant a couple of years ago when we stayed at Hotel Giraffe, around the corner and loved it, especially the garden room. On a recent visit, we hosted 15 friends/business for dinner here. Because we were a large group, we worked with the events manager and pre-selected appetizers and dessert. Guests chose from a selection of four mains. The appetizers were served family style and everyone loved the selection, the meatballs were amazing! Everyone enjoyed their mains and raved about the dessert. The service was impeccable! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow - really mixed reviews of this place but our experience was terrific! We had a friendly greeting and were quickly seated - we did have reservations. The service was good and well paced. The food was wonderful - best lasagna I've ever put in my mouth and my son loved his veal dish! The halibut fish special and raviolli were well prepared and tasty. The Pecan Tart dessert was outstanding and enough to share as it was quite rich - even my husband who is not a dessert eater had two bites. We thought the atmosphere was lovely and it was a wonderful evening. Would definitely go back if I visited NYC again.

We had a wonderful meal. We ate Italian style sharing courses of the rabbit orichiette and the salmon. The latter was less exciting but good. Over all our meal was very good and worth another visit. The service was excellent, The wine list is comprehensive and reasonable priced.

this is a solid neighborhood spot for an occassion; very nice wine list and sommelier who was helpful, great menu of italian food but price was a bit high; not a weeknight type of place but if you sit at the bar you could do pretty well

Was staying at the Carlton on Madison which wasn't great for food and so luckily found this place which is a top Italian eaterie with good decor and atmosphere . Food was excellent as was the service . New York restaurants are hit and miss so nice to find this gem .

This is my third try and they again left me with an average at best rating. This time I was on my own and volunteered to sit at the bar but they sat me in the main area anyway so I thought ok this might be a good experience. Service was average as no one informed me of the specials while other tables were. I ordered the Polpo which the first time came out charred and burnt in some areas and completley tasteless. After I pointed it out they brought me a second less charred but still tasteless. The orechiette with rabbit ragu was ok but not special. The pastry filled with nutella was average and when I asked about having a side of zabaglione cream was given a look like "are you crazy" and he offered a raspberry drizzle which I declined. What Italian restaurant does not have zabaglione cream? ITRULLI will not replace my go to Italian spot in the Murray Hill area after the close of DaCiros (so sad).

I Trulli is a warm, welcoming outpost in a neighborhood that lacks much character (I work in the area). There are a number of other nice restaurants around, but they tend to feel much more businessy. I Trulli has an extensive wine menu and the waitstaff is very knowledgeable about it. The food menu isn't quite as extensive, but covers a lot of ground. I've been here a few times and tried dishes from both the pasta section and secondi - all have been delicious. Most recently I had the zuppa di pesce, which was out of this world.

The $48 tasting menu is a WOW, with a nice bottle of reasonably priced Barolo. White linen tablecloths, attentive waiters, attractive dining room reminiscent of an old grotto. The host was very serious about food and service. Fun place for a reliably good Italian meal.

I love the family feel of I Trulli, the staff are really helpful and polite, attentive without being clingy and subtly funny too. The food is sensational a wide selection of Italian food beautifully presented and tasting even better. If you want a classy but under stated dining experience at a good price in a wonderful restaurant then I Trulli is for you. I've been a few times and never been disappointed

Cannot say enough about this place! We attended a business dinner at I Trulli and the service and food was phenomenal! Highly recommend for a great Italian meal. Great portion sizes and homemade pastas, nice wine and cocktail list. Great ambiance. Make sure to set reservations as it is on the smaller side. Easy to find location. Accomodates couples and large gatherings. Nice bar area to enjoy a drink before dinner as well.

Party of 35 for my Mom’s 80th Birthday, Food was excellent as well as the service. We all enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this eatery. We will be back in near future and experience this restaurant again. Great job!

I used to take clients here often for lunch and dinner and was always very pleased. Went last night and was sorely disappointed. The life has gone out of this place. Decor looks shabby. Italian waiters are gone. And the worst was the food was uninspired at best and the lasagne inedible- reheated too many times, rubbery noodles, odd sauce. It's a shame really.

Home made pasta, great wine list and a family atmosphere that isn't cheesy. This si quite a find. We stumbled into I Trulli by accident and left as advocates.

The food was really good - exceeded my expectations - and the price to quality ratio...totally in favor of the customer! Thats a switch! REally smart and deep Italian wine selection and Somm.

Family-run southern (Puglie, province of Bari) Italian restaurant, 18 years in Manhattan, excellent food and service. Panzerotti as a starter, with mozzarella and tomato, and panzerotti as closure stuffed with chocolate. In between two choices of pasta and wonderful sea bass. A defintely pleasant business dinner at a very reasonable quality/price ratio. Strongly recommended

My wife and I love this restaurant. The wine list and service are superb. When the weather is good, dining on the terrace is delightful. Although many dishes are delicious, the handmade pastas really stand out.

My son and I visited iTrulli on our last night in New York and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was the best we have experienced. The waiters were attentive and not too pushy. I understand that restaurants in NYC are busy but sometimes you feel like the waiters want you in and out as quickly as possible. However this was not the case at this particular restaurant. Well worth a visit.

iTrulli is one of the finest restaurants in Manhattan. It serves Italian style food with emphasis on Puglia. Service is excellent, the food is creative, there is an extensive wine list that while expensive also features some approachable numbers (it is Manhattan after all!) There is a wine bar adjacent to the dining room which is a small, romantic spot. All in all iTrulli is a memorable dining experience and well worth your dining dollars.

I've been coming here for many years and many visits. This place is good each and every time. Ok, so the prices may be slightly high. And only slightly. But the food and experience are well worth the trip. All dishes are nicely prepared, wonderfully served and delicious. Tough to go wrong with a menu choice here. It's good. Do yourself a favor- forget the big name places and come here.

I Trulli is a lovely Italian restaurant in New York City. The food and service are fantastic. A fireplace makes it cozy and a terrific location for a romantic or special evening. There is a glassed in garden area in the restaurant too. The menu is varied with a nice wine list. Very nice

I Trulli Restaurant along with its Wine Bar next door offer original dishes from the Region of Puglia in Southern Italy. Their dishes consisting of home made pastas, seafood and vegetables. Their appetizers are hearty. You can sample some of the fine wines of Pulia in the Enoteca next door. A bit pricy but it's worth the trip. - Daniele Matteo, Food and Wine Editor.

After experiencing the small but excellent Apulia in London, I was looking forward to eating in this restaurant. The menu looked interesting and the grilled octopus (Polpo) was very good but the main course of fish fillet with broccoli and mushrooms was a bit disappointing as it was fried in butter which took away the delicate flavours. The service was very good and friendly.
Always the best meals at iTrulli
I can't say enough great things about iTrulli. The staff is extremely friendly, the ambiance is romantic and reminds me of being back in Italy. The star of the menu, in my opinion is the Orechetti with rabbit ragu. Simply amazing. Every time I'm in NYC I have to eat here.
