By far the best Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Great food, great staff and the cocktails and wine was superb.

We walked like a mile to try this place. I walked in, there was a guy in a big jacket near the door. I made eye contact and said hi, but he didn’t say anything to me at all. Turns out he was the host. After 5 minutes we left and went down the street. We had a great dinner at Da Gennaro.

The ambiance is spectacular. I’ve eaten here many times and it always a great culinary experience. The service is perfect and the food is delicious. Portions are big and the flavors are authentic. Perfectly cooked and flavorful. The burrata is creamy and fresh. Calamari are tender and crisp. The Sunday sauce, which is available on Saturday and Sunday, is reminiscent of my father’s- served with rigatoni and a large moist meatball, short rib, braciole and sausage. Linguine with clams is fresh, briny and flavorful. Shrimp dishes are exquisite with notes of garlic and lemon always cooked with quality olive oil. Wine selection is varied and the servers are very good at pairing wine with the meal. The cannoli are crisp on the outside with a creamy ricotta filling. Better than any pastry shop and the tiramisu is a must have. The place speaks for itself. Almost 50 years of fine dining at excellent prices. The proprietor, Sal Esposito, brings a delightful culinary experience to the table, no need to travel to Italy to eat! Just come to Il Cortile. Bravo!

Signs were already on the wall when the bread brought to the table was clearly not fresh. The industrial olive oil was average to be nice. The location is very nice, good atmosphere, nice decorations. But coming to the food, we were not expecting to eat overcooked pasta in a “italian restaurant”. The other problem was the chicken breast; good taste but the meat was one of those water pumped ones, very wrong texture. 2 other dishes were very good though, veal and the calamari. Cannot compare with other “italian” restaurants in NY so maybe it is “the best” (hope not)

We visited one Saturday evening with the express purpose of trying the Sunday sauce, which is only available on Saturday and Sunday, and it was a great decision. The dish sauce is packed with various meats and it not a portion for the faint hearted so go prepared to be well fed. I’m glad I experienced it.

I've been coming to IL Cortile for decades and it was my dad's favorite restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing. We've never been disappointed. The service is outstanding.

Visited last week Entrees were good. Pasta was cold; taste was ok, but not even close to pasta’s taste in Italy. Overall, too expensive for this kind of food

I grew up on authentic Italian food, so when I tasted the marinara sauce, I immediately knew that it was not made on the premises, which is really unacceptable for a restaurant with this reputation. The sauce tasted just like the awful stuff that comes in jars and is sold in grocery stores. Service was great, but the food, mainly because of the mass-produced sauce, was not.

Amazing food!!! The place is beautiful, nice music, and Rigatoni with mushrooms is delicious ❤️ i just loved!!!!!

Went for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Seated right away with reservation. It’s a typical Little Italy NYC place with kind of tacky decor. Very good service. Basket of break was lackluster. Rice ball appetizer delicious. But only two rice balls for $18. Penne vodka pasta with chicken was bland as was the vegetarian pasta and pesto pasta entrees. The best dish was the lobster ravioli special. 4 huge raviolis and great sherry sauce. The eggplant rollatini app was delish but small for $18. No dessert. There is alot better Italian food in NJ/NY but still ok.

A fantastic authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. Great food and excellent team of serving staff

Amazing food and atmosphere!! We ate there on our last night in NYC and it was amazing!!! Our server was great about recommendations and we loved the singing.

Romantic and top notch service. Antipasto plate was delicious and beautifully plated. My pasta dish was good, but I wish I had ordered a veal dish ( next time). Girlfriend’s gnocchi was very tasty and quite filling. Would recommend for anyone seeking a good italian meal in a wonderful setting

Little Italy is a “must do” when in Manhattan, but this place is not. The best part of our visit was the espresso martinis. The Antipasto Freddo was less than impressive. Mozzarella was tasteless as was the eggplant. Capellini Piselli was swimming in a sauce that had no flavor, needed salt, and the pasta was completely overdone. Same for the saffron risotto with halibut. That dish looked beautiful, but the fishy smell of the halibut was very overwhelming. We always have tiramisu when going to an Italian restaurant, but were so disappointed, we didn’t even bother.

I always go to Il Cortile whenever I come to NY. Love Little Italy —the vibe and shops and twinkling lights—the food at Il Cortile is always wonderful—and the meatball is back for the appetizer! Love the veal Parmesan….bit it is all good. Ask for Josie. A bit noisy with the accordion player—but get into it and enjoy!

Never disappoints. Had not been there in a couple years, actually since Covid. Food was excellent and service exceptional. It’s nice to know some things never change. Kudos to to everyone that a meal here so special.

Nice Italian restaurant. The salad was very fresh; we were only brought bread when we asked for it, and I was disappointed that it was cold. My food was ok, chicken was a bit dry; my son enjoyed his chicken parmigian. We didn't see much of our waiter.

it takes a lot to make me happy in an Italian restaurant. I really can cook and I know good ingredients. And I cook every day. But, I really wanted to find a place in Little Italy that served the kind of food I want to eat. I found it tonight. I'll be back. Delicious "Sunday Sauce" and chicken francaise. We ordered the arancini (rice balls) Delicious and authentic. The wait staff is attentive, the management is considerate, the garden is gorgeous, lit with tiny white lights. Tables are spaced apart and the chairs are comfortable. Everything matters. Everything adds up at the end of the evening. Most important, I felt welcome. Nice. Very nice. Or you could eat at my house. Just kidding...........

Everything was fabulous- including the pear burrata- wow the pears were amazing! We all had pasta dishes- can’t go wrong with any. Restaurant is darling with white twinkle lights and authentic feel. Loved it

We wanted to eat outside, I called to make sure it would be okay. Upon arriving eating outside seemed somewhat of a hassle. Once they agreed (they have seating for 50 outside but we were the only ones) they were really accommodating. We sat, ordered a pitch of the red sangria which was really good (and we make it, and have had it across Europe). They brought without asking a bottle of flat water. We are bubbles people but whatever. We share two good apps and had really nice entres. We talked about coming back except $11 for a bottle of flat water we didn't order, plus NYC tax and I tipped on the total. It ruined what would have been a really nice meal to end a hectic week. Did they think we were tourists? Do they do this to everyone? It was a big disappointment to what would have been a really nice experience. We would be back with the whole family in just a few weeks, but that isn't going to happen.

Can not believe I could have ended up in hospital over some sort of ‘joke’. Me and my partner approached the restaurant asking for takeaway pizza. The welcoming gentleman sent us across the road to his ‘other restaurant’ (Buona Notte) where they could accommodate this for us, so we went across the road to place our order. When we were crossing we noticed another man sitting down on the side path bickering and shouting with the one that had just sent us over. As we got to the other side of the road I felt something skim my head, to all of a sudden the absolute shock of glass smashing against the wall in front of me. My boyfriend turned around straight away and I gasped ‘that nearly hit my head’. I then turn around and ask the man across the road who sent us that way (who was sitting in front of his restaurant at this point) and he didn’t respond. I asked him again if he threw the glass and he still didn’t respond. My partner grabbed my hand and we left before the situation got worse. To think that I could have ended up in hospital when these people were meant to look after us that evening. Disgusting.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. The restaurant was busy but the acoustics were good so we could still hear each other. Our pasta was very good generous portions. Excellent service.

My husband and I made reservations for Il Cortile on our latest trip to NYC. It was supposed to be a fun, romantic dinner date, and it surely was! We had the best food and experience here. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was delicious. The calamari was light and flavorful and the marinara sauce served on the side was divine! Our waiter even brought us some to dip our bread in after we commented on how good it was. The service was attentive and timely. I would definitely recommend Il Cortile to anyone in the area!

Great food and service smack dab in the heart of little Italy..where us locals eat…you won’t be disappointed…owned by the same family since the 70s…

This is a good place for eating Italian with your family. We received friendly service. They accomodated us where there would be enough room for a baby in a stroller. We enjoyed our food.

My wife and I first visited the restaurant from the UK 2 years and fell in love with the place - the food and atmosphere were superb! This week we returned to NYC with our children and wanted them to experience il Cortile! We dined with on Weds 31st Aug 2022 around approximately 630pm, there were 4 of us (myself, wife, son, daughter), we sat in the conservatory area next to the checkout and kitchen entrance. We ordered: Puttanesca, lobster ravioli, fish special with spinach risotto and pasta with meat sauce for my daughter. Our daughter has a dairy allergy so when ordering the pasta both me and my wife asked on two separate occasions that the meat sauce contained no milk or dairy products and the waiter said it did not. Unfortunately, despite our request, the food DID contain dairy products and after leaving the restaurant Weds our daughter had an anaphylactic shock and has been in intensive care on life support in Hassenfeld childrens hospital since. At this time we are unable to return home and there is no discharge date due to her medical status. As a business you have the legal obligation to conduct business with ordinary care and must ensure meals for customers are safe. Negligence is a lack of care and we experienced food negligence this week during our visit. Il Cortile has a high duty of care to protect customers and should be aware of all ingredients in your products especially when we raised our concerns twice whilst ordering. I dont know the name of the waiter who served us but know that he was dark haired man from Montenegro. The food cost was $231 and I tipped the waiter $20 in cash. This lack of care for such a important issue is not acceptable - our daughter was literally moments away from death Wednesday evening following our visit had it not been for the superb medical staff here in NYC. Our trip to New York very nearly ended in the most unbearable circumstances imaginable as a parent due to some moments of neglect. Restaurant has been ignoring our messages and hasnt even responded to apologise or offer a refund. Appalled beyond belief!

Lunch at Il Cortile is such a treat. From the atmosphere to the amazing food, you won’t be disappointed. We had 8 people in our party, a girls trip to NYC. Our server (I wish I could recall his name) was very friendly and efficient. This was a great visit!

We had a table booked here at 7pm on a Friday evening. When getting to the restaurant, the queue was out of the door - with every person have a reservation. We weren’t seated at our table for nearly an hour, so it was obviously overbooked! The woman who took us to our table was really friendly & couldn’t apologise enough for the wait. The food then took nearly another hour to be brought out to us, with the waiter blaming us as we picked something “that takes long to cook”? The food was average, service wasn’t great and wouldn’t recommend.

I can't believe I found a life time place to eat Italian food. Omg so, so good. A must go. There was 7 of us eating all with the same results.

A group of 6 of us ate here on the final night of our holiday (pre booked) as a last night celebration - and we were really happy with our choice. The food is just superb. We ate at another Italian just down the road and the difference was remarkable and the meal prices were similar. If you want to make it a special night on Manhattan - eat here !!

We visited on a wet Wednesday night. We were sat in the courtyard. Our waiter was Frank - he was really nice to our young children. The service was great, we didn't feel rushed but the staff were attentive, food was great - we had some pizza and pasta, my son loved the bread with olive oil and balsamic which he's now asking for at home. My wife and I had a bottle of wine which was good. We wanted an authentic Little Italy dinner and this place delivered - we look forward to going back when we next visit - if you're looking for a good family dinner at an Italian in New York on holiday, Il Cortile is great.

I have dined here several times over the years. It is always good. I had the rigatoni and it was so good. The bread was yummy. I also had a really good sangria. Great place, try it!

Last time my husband and I was here probably 20 years ago. Had a chance to dine here again and happy we did! For appetizers had fried mozzarella with Anchovy Sauce - still their staple! Also tried Asiago Stuffed Mushrooms and pasta fagioli soup- enjoyed every bite! For entry went with The chicken scarpariello , it was juicy and tender, with seasoning that brought out the savory flavor without overpowering it. Highly recommended to visit!

Service okay, terrible food. Tricolore salad not fresh and soggy white bread for starters. My pasta with seafood dish was far from tasty and pasta overcooked. My husband had a margarita that tasted right out of a mix. Everything was overpriced…a disappointing dining experience.

Loved the food and true Italy atmosphere. Truly a great place to eat. Everything was very Good......

Very much the stereotype of an Italian-American restaurant: very good service, average food, high prices. Much of this might be due to the neighborhood, which is over-touristed at present.

Waiter was brisk. Prices on the menu were higher than what they posted on their lit sign outside. They automatically added a 20% tip for a table of two (we only had entrees). I challenged waiter on the automatic tip and he changed it. But do people know or are willing to ask that? Service was brusk from the old Tim veteran waiter. Food was so-so. I had spaghetti with meat sauce, my daughter had rigatoni with tomato sauce an prosciutto. She said sauce was bland and prosciutto was chewy and stale.

Wow this place has gone down hill. I hadn’t been here in 20 years and I remembered it as being wonderful. The food reminded me of the pre-made stuff I buy from Target. The wait staff was excellent - they deserve to work somewhere nicer!! With so many other options in NYC you would be wise to try elsewhere.

One of the highlights of our trip to NY was an evening at this lovely restaurant. We discovered this place online and despite the thunderstorms and torrential rain we were glad that we made the effort to make the journey across the city. Friendly and professional staff. We love Italy and this restaurant made us feel as though we were back there, lovely food in an inviting atmosphere. We shared the fried mozzarella and sausage pie starters and all chose a different pasta main course. All excellent and tiramisu cake for dessert! Would highly recommend and will return when next in New York.

Good energy, busy, and food was good. But waiter was poor. Took the wine menu several times and we had to ask for it back. No parmesan cheese or crushed red pepper offered (we had to ask bus boy). Numerous times someone tried removing our drinks and food before we were finished or had barely finished. Between 8:30 and 9 PM several help staff began closing down (example, removing extra chairs from our table). Felt rushed the entire time! Would not return since many other options available….

I love this place, been eating here for years. It is always consistent, delicious food, terrific service and a fair price point for Manhattan. Never anything to fault or criticize, this place is a sure bet.

Wonderful stop for some after dinner drinks & desert! We sat up top at the bar and enjoyed people watching! watching, haphotophoto

We ate badly, bad service and rude staff. We arrived at 10.30 and at 11.15 we were kicked out. To be avoided. Skyrocketing and mandatory tips! I recommend more. Stay away from me. After a request for an explanation they treated us like the “usual” Italians.

The decor in this place is gorgeous, the staff are so nice and welcoming and the food was just as good. Would recommend and return

This is a long standing fav in Little Italy. Been here a number of times. The menu is more Italian American than Italian. No game meats, for example. Lovely setting. Tidbit-- This place was favorite for the Sopranos TV cast to have dinners. Many of the actors live/lived downtown in the West Village or Tribeca. Worth a visit if in the neighborhood. Fine dining. Parking can be challenging. Take the train ( subway).

Warmly greeted and seated immediately on a quiet Thursday evening. Service was very attentive as few guests were dining. Enjoyed the veal masala but my sister thought her pasta was only average.

The restaurant is a fixture in little Italy. Good Italian food in a delightful setting. Service is above average as well. We enjoyed some of the basics. Cesar Salad, Chicken Parm, Salmon coupled with some Broccoli Rabe and Baked Clams. The house Chianti was above average as well. Overall a 4 star evening. I would recommend a table in the back section as the restaurant has several rooms and the back is a bit more peaceful.

Friendly staff but eating two first courses like that was really difficult....terrible.....large portions as well as the bill....I don't recommend

Excellent. One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in nyc. The service is top notch. The pasta is the freshest you will find and the chicken parm melts in your mouth. We had to skip dessert as we were full. Excellent.

We sat street side to enjoy the hustle and ambiance of NYC and it was a special lunch date to say the least. Our server was attentive, gave great recommendations and even paired our wine with our lunch. We ended with the crème brûlée and it was perfectly delicious. A hidden gem we were lucky enough to find. My husband had the gnocchi and I had the linguine. Both absolutely delicious

0,5/5. We had dinner at the Il Cortile Restaurant yesterday night. Can’t believe we took a cab to get there on time, then we had to wait because we were 5min early. Bartender doesn’t know anything about wine. When we got to the table the waiter was nervous and agressive. We had to wait 1h to get our pasta while sipping this horrible French white wine that we couldn’t taste before ordering it. The food was bellow average, most of it ended up in the garbage. Last but not least we threw up in the toilet because of the bad wine. Ended up with a bill of 209$ for 3 dishes and a bottle of wine. I would never recommend this place to anyone! Careful about the doubtful reviews.

Love the linguini and clams. Old school Italian at its best. Haven't been there in a couple of years and is always great.

There are so many options for Italian food in NYC but our visit to II Cortile was beyond expectations! The staff, service, festive atmosphere, and food were excellent! Thank you to the entire staff for taking such great care of us. Highly recommend.

We traveled to NYC a Birthday quick trip. Picked this restaurant based on reviews and it was not disappointing. the food was amazing. Coming from a Boston Italian Family we were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed our mail and waitstaff.

Everything about our experience at this restaurant was excellent. Highly recommend trying the sausage pie appetizer! Delicious! Our pasta entrees were of a good size, we could not finish it. The owners were very open and welcoming, said a personal good bye before we left and offered us cigars. We would visit again!

We had a fab meal at Il Cortile. The service was great—really friendly and attentive—and the food was some of the best Italian I’ve ever had. The cheese ravioli was especially good, and so were the pizzas. The tiramisu was a standout for me! The Christmas decorations added a nice touch to our trip. It’s definitely on the expensive side. Paying $32 for two shots of limoncello is excessive. On top of that, they added the tip themselves, plus an extra charge for paying by card, which wasn’t great when the bill was already over $500. They also seemed unhappy when we asked to split the bill across two cards. They also charge for bottled water which the sneakily get you to take by pouring it straight into your glasses. The only other downside was being seated across from a table of loud, sweary New York men, which didn’t exactly help the atmosphere—it’s a shame the restaurant didn’t step in. I get the feeling they were regulars. Overall, the food and service were fantastic, but be prepared for the high prices and a few quirks with the bill.

Classic Little Italy These guys just celebrated 50 years and it shows. A menu of Italian classics, polished waiters, charming ambiance, eclectic wine list, great location in the heart of Little Italy.

We love this restaurant but we were there on Christmas Eve and we had a reservation for 7:00 and didnt get seated til 8:30. Whoever did the reservations didnt do a very good job. I wont go there again on a holiday!! All else was good and our waiter, Angelo was excellent.

We had such a lovely experience at this restaurant! The food was incredible—every dish was fresh and full of flavor, especially the pasta. We were there to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, and they made it truly unforgettable. They surprised her with a cake and serenaded her in Italian—it was so beautiful, it gave us chills. A magical touch to a very special day.

I came to eat here on Christmas Day and the experience was amazing. The place looked very cozy and the food was very good. Waiters sometimes moved a little awkwardly, but they tried to make up for it with a positive attitude. The sizes of the dishes varied. Some were large (penis, spaghetti) and others quite small (ravioli or gnocchi). In short, a very nice place

Walking through Little Italy in NYC, stopped to figure out which restaurant to grab lunch at, because there are SO many choices. Thanks Trip Advisor for pointing us to this one. They have a gorgeous Air Conditioned court yard, and the restaurant ambience is very quaint and old world. We were seated right away, and Angelo our server delivered menus and let us know the specials of the day. The stuffed mushrooms was what my wife went for and I did their shrimp, as appetizers, both excellent. For mains, my wife had Carbonara, which is not on the menu, but they will prepare, and it was the best she has ever had anywhere!!!!! I went for the linguini with sweet sausage, garlic oil with a touch of cream and was not disappointed either, wanted to lick my plate. You are treated like family from the moment you sit down, and attended to in an expert fashion, service is phenomenal. So happy we chose this place, and Angelo, who has been there for over 30 years, certainly heightened our lunch experience for which we thank him!!!! Definitely will go back when in NYC again, and you should go as well!!!!!!

Had to come back again to this beautiful restaurant because it has really great authentic Italian food. We had another amazing time with awesome drinks, wine and waiters that were very nice, knowledgeable and guided us along the way! Truly great experience again. Love Little Italy.

My husband and I consider ourselves sophisticated diners in New York City. We knew of Il Cortile and understood that this was the restaurant Billy Joel sings about in “Scenes from an Italian restaurant”. We decided to try it out for our fourth wedding anniversary, and we were absolutely blown away! The service, drinks and every dish from start to finish was amazing. The meatballs, burrata, gamberi fritti and stuffed homemade gnocchi were some of the best we’ve ever had. The owner, Tommy, was very personable and gracious and came to our table to make sure everything was to our liking. There was even fantastic live entertainment the night we were there with this incredible singer who covered everything from Frankie Valli to Frank Sinatra. If you’re looking for a fantastic evening with some incredible Italian food, come to Little Italy and dine at Il Cortile!!!

The atmosphere is very lovely.. especially on a really hot day/night as they have a garden inside with air.. The service was not great at all. I had to call them over several times and they were not even busy. The food was overpriced for what we got and it was good. But I have had better Italian food-for sure. I expected it to be phenomenal and it was as good as any other decent Italian place I have been to. Not off the charts-I have to run back.. Definitely does not live up to the hype. Will try a different place next time..

Food was excellent. Service was awful. Waiter was actually mean and no sense of humor. Didn’t check on us at all. We had to wave him down. They didn’t know who order what and just threw plates down. Yes the food was good but service is also important. Would I recommend or come back? No

Anytime I am in Manhattan I always stop here for a bite to eat and a few drinks. The staff are really nice and pleasant. Food is amazing. And the restaurant itself is beautiful. Highly recommend.

Nice little old world Italian . Good Ragu Pasta , veal scaloppini, chicken Marsala and service . Would recommend and return.

This was a repeat visit to this restaurant. We visited in July 2021. Ate at a couple of other places in Little Italy and this was hands down the best service. Food was fresh & good. Prompt service, they definitely cater to their customers. We will return each time we are in NYC!

What a great introduction to Little Italy. From the negroni to the orecchiette to the garden room to the attentive service from Giuseppe, it was a perfect dinner.

Visited this beautiful restaurant on Saturday, Feb. 10th. Atmosphere is perfect, menu is large. Frank was our server and he was wonderful in answering our questions and was very friendly. Frank really knows the menu well. We had the mushroom app, ceasar salad and 2 veal entrees. Food was amazing. Service was superb! We will be back. Il Cortile is very lucky to have Frank. Ellen C.

Two weeks before Christmas and 10 of us were all in New York at the same time and wanted to get together for dinner. Carmines blew us off for all 4 nights we were all here but Il Cortile worked with us and gave us an 8pm slot on a Saturday night. Between 7pm and 8pm we all met up in the bar which was great for us to all catch up and they seated us just a few minutes after 8. They advised us up front that they would not split up the check but they would take as many credit cards as we wanted and divide the bill up in that way. They have an excellent and extensive menu and we ordered a half dozen appetizers for the table and proceeded with our orders. We had an excellent meal with wine and drinks as needed and there was no rush to get us out the door. We left right at 11pm and headed over to Ferrara for desert. A great evening and a restaurant that we all agree we will go back to on our future trips to New York.

We weren’t impressed. Was initially sat in main dining room which was incredibly loud and when we asked to move team were not over accommodating. After insisting we were moved. We were given details of specials, some when ordered were unavailable. First wine choice was unavailable, gelato choice unavailable. Service not great and food wasn’t anything special either. Linguine was too soft and so much pasta and not enough of the rest. Ravioli over cooked. Bruschetta was very tasty though. We left underwhelmed.

Beautiful restaurant with the best Italian food in the heart of Little Italy. Our waiter was Angelo who was very nice and professional and helped us decide on the perfect Italian meal. If you are in Little Italy or in NYC you have to go to IL Cortile. The food and ambiance is amazing!

Service too fast the Italian origin server not friendly and annoyed by our requests Too bad for tourists to avoid....

Weird approach to service as the waiters behaved as they were allowing using to be their customers and we should be grateful for their attention, never been to a restaurant like it. Food was ok, but it was a crap night out due to the waiters.

Amazing food, staff and ambiance. Had the most unbelievable pastas and chicken parm. Also had a few of the specials.. veal chop, steak and the great desserts.

Visited this restaurant in Little Italy whilst passing. Fantastic food, brilliant service and all felt really authentic. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant for tasty food.

Went here on a whim when my husband and I were walking in Little Italy. First the atmosphere: I loved it! The statues and the ambiance gave it a true Italian feel. We were given a window table so we were able to see the road. We started with an appetizer. The fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil. It was very good, the cheese was very fresh. We both ordered the lunch specials. He ordered lasagna and loved it and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Hands down the most delicious meal I've had. The portions were just right too. The restaurant also serves a bread basket with tarrali, sesame sticks, and bread. Would return and recommend to anyone.

In the heart of Little Italy, this is a large bustling restaurant with a cool Italian feel. Service is attentive. Menu is very broad, including a gluten free pasta. Food was good. Considering the location, oriceas seemed reasonable.

We read the great reviews and the Michelin Guide recommendation - but ultimately walked out. Please note we had reserved a table for lunch, there was nothing in our manner to offend anyone, we were just husband and wife out for lunch - but we are tourists. We also have a very healthy dose of Italian heritage and DNA between us, so we understand Italian food intimately. We arrive on time to be greeted in a pretty gruff way, and shown to what must have been the worst table for two in what was a virtually empty restaurant - squashed in a tight corner between a front window and a wine cabinet. All while a commercial radio station squawks loudly throughout the dining room. Okay, so far, not so good. We place our order with a fairly uninterested waiter, entree, wine and salad duly arrive. Part way through eating our entree, or main meals arrive and are unceremoniously 'arranged' on our tiny table. The clincher is the very poor presentation, execution and flavor of the meals. Firmly, but politely, we inform the waiter we won't be eating the main meals, that we will finish our wine and then leave. There are some lukewarm attempts to apologise, but it's too late - we're done. Maybe it's a tourist trap thing? But then why treat tourists like you don't want them there? Little Italy is brimming with tourist trade, surely tourists are the lifeblood of the local restaurants? I'm still at a loss to understand how they got it so terribly wrong.

Great ambience and excellent food! Oh, and the service was top notch because everyone was taking care of us and making sure we had everything we needed. This can make or break our experiences, regardless of the quality of food. Gave four stars because my husband’s steak was overcooked a bit and for the price, the chefs should cook it to order. But the flavor was good as he didn’t send it back. We will definitely return!

Wonderful experience. We were in rushed and had time to enjoy our drinks and courses. Angelo and crew were very attentive and accommodating. Atmosphere was charming, courtyard is lovely. Prices were reasonable for dinner. Food was delicious. Some of our party judge every Italian restaurant on the quality of the veal and chicken Parmesan. Both were superb. The Alfredo and cream sauce were excellent.

WOW...just WOW! This restaurant was recommended by one of the small shop vendors in Little Italy so we went. It was EXACTLY what we hoped for. Italian ambiance. INCREDIBLE food. Excellent waitstaff. We usually stay in Midtown but this day we'd ventured to Chinatown...so when I say I'll go back to Little Italy...it's a bit of a haul but WORTH the trip.

Our concierge at our hotel suggested Il Cortile. It was easy to get to by subway. We enjoyed our walk into "Little Italy". We ran into some family and the restaurant host was able to accommodate us when they joined our party. She even was able to sit us outside. Very large portions!

Enjoyed a delicious dinner in this beautiful restaurant. The food and service was excellent. Made plans to come back for the feast in September.

Amazing Italian food. We had buratta, Caesar salad, red sangria, chicken parm, and 2 pasta dishes - capellini , farfalle all hugely flavorful and delicious. The Caesar is very garlicky but my family loves garlic so we thought it was great. The pasta was well cooked and each one had a little different touch that made them special so I really can’t recommend one over the others. They were all excellent!

Great restaurant in the middle of vibrant Little Italy. Great food and service and a buzzing atmosphere. Food was really good and not a bad price for NYC.

I walked into this amazing garden courtyard with sunlight and little red umbrellas. The food and wine were superb. It’s a favorite of one of my friends. I will now take any dinner recommendation that he gives me. The service was impeccable. Now I know why he visits every time he is in New York City. They are the winner of an award. Been in business for more than 40 years!!

Without a doubt, best Italian food in Manhattan! Excellent service and amazing food! Cant wait to go back. If you haven’t been there, you’re definitely missing out. It’s an absolute must:)

Delicious and affordable! I had the Fettuccine di Parma. I have been looking for the recipe ever since!

Visited here in January 2019. We found the main street in Little Italy and took a chance on a restaurant. This looked cosy from the outside and it turned out to be a good bet! We were sat at a table under a signed photo of the guy from The Sopranos. The staff were very busy but were quick and efficient. I ordered raviolli and my partner ordered a spaghetti dish. Everything was just perfect, couldn't fault the food at all. I have to say apart from the delicious food it was fabulous for people watching, seeing 'regulars' come in and the staff buzzing around them, reminded me of Goodfellas! I would definitely recommend this place and the next time I am in New York I would love to try more dishes!

Great restaurant in the Italian Quarter of New York. Menu clearly inspired by the Bel Paese, honestly with some doubts. Overall not bad, maybe too much butter in the courses. Staff on secondment.

I just want to preface this with the fact that I booked this place months in advance because I had friends visiting from out of town who wanted a classic Little Italy experience, and I have never written a negative review about a place, but had such a bad experience with the service that this review feels warranted. My two friends and I had a reservation for 7:45pm. We arrived on time, but to a long line to the host stand that was apparently filled with other people who had reservations. This was already frustrating, but then it became infuriating when the hostess let another group of equal size with a later reservation time cut us in line just when we had gotten to the front. This group was seated immediately, while our group and others behind us were told the wait would be about 30-50 minutes, but that we could wait in the bar area until a table was ready. Well, we waited. We waited an hour and a half. The host would keep coming to the bar area and circling around to different tables of other very upset groups who had reservations but had found themselves in the same situation. The host also kept reassuring our group, “soon,” or “very soon,” but evidently, that time never came. We eventually left because we were so hungry and knew we would not feel good about providing our business to this place after the way they had wasted our time and completely voided the point of booking a reservation in the first place, and without offering any apologies. I do not plan on returning.

Beautiful atmosphere!! Excellent service. The food was delicious. My teen girls loves the Alfredo pasta. I had the stuffed chicken dish. Great way to end our fall break getaway.

Italian food is probably my favorite cuisine and Il Cortile is the best in little Italy.Old school cooking, decor reminiscent of Naples and friendly service. Angelo our server was knowledgeable and gracious,an example of of why this restaurant has remained a classic thru the decades.we sat outdoors enjoying the splendid New York fall weather as well as partaking the visuals of the multitudes on Mulberry street. The martinis were on point . For starters we had the seafood appetizer plate, luscious clams baked just right, crispy but so tender calamari, butterfly shrimp scampi style hit the spot. Lobster ravioli in a vodka sauce was a highlight. My friends raved about the spaghetti Vongole,, briny clams in olive oil and pasta cooked just right. The veal Valdesano ,stuffed with with mushrooms and cheese was outstanding.I would return in a heartbeat!!

We were three people and asked to eat in the garden.. they claimed they didn't have any room which we insisted and then they said can i wait for five minutes,, brought me to an upper area and left me to wait. I ordered a wine , small glass for 14 dollars and they took forever to bring me my change.. then they sat us down and from there the service was pretty good. I received a very large bill and I knew right away it was not mine.. they said yes I said no.. then they realized that they had combined my dishes with the table next to us on their drinks.. $60 dollars less than originally billed we had our meal. I had my son with me.. and they never asked us if we wanted any dessert! just brought the bill.. it was an odd place.. don't need to return. Very touristy including a man walking around asking if he could take photos and charge I assume for his services.

This restaurant felt like an intimate, small restaurant but, actually, it's a rather large restaurant. The service was impeccable and the food was lovely. Unfortunately, the inclement weather prevented us from being in the courtyard. My only complaint? I couldn't make it through my ragu!

Staff were helpful and friendly. Good wine and beer list. We split a caesar salad. One had pasta with cream sauce for a main. One had the chicken rollatine, which was a huge portion and well-presented. No room for dessert. A generous meal, satisfying. One of us has been here many years before, and the quality continues.

Perfect meal outdoors on charming Mulberry Street in Little Italy. Friendly and very professional service. Exquisite food. Highly recommended. This restaurant is legendary.

This restaurant was the first I ran into after I was finished walking Chinatown and turned up Mulberry and to Little Italy. Waiters welcomed me and gave me a nice table outside on a gorgeous sunny day. Very attentive service and they didn’t hurry me at all. I ordered the Caprese salad and a Pinot Grigio and enjoyed every minute. The best place to people watch as they stroll by and enjoy the day.

Enjoyed a great meal here with the family in Little Italy last night. Great service and great food. A chap playing an accordion was at our table for twenty minutes or so and we had a great time singing along with him - we thought he was part of the restaurant’s staff but turned out he was your plain old vanilla street busker - well worth the $10 tip we paid him.

The food was good, nothing special, I have had better Italian food elsewhere, however it was nice. The setting was lovely, the restaurant inside looked dark but when we walked around to the inside courtyard looking area it was very pretty and light and a very nice setting for a nice meal.

Classic Italian dishes with very good service in Little Italy, what’s not to like? The service is outstanding, they have so many waiters it’s ridiculous. Very good Italian classics. Large portions. Are they going to win Michelin stars no, are you gonna be happy yes. Eating outside on the street has great atmosphere also.

The food is horrible. We paid 209 dollars for 3 dishes after waiting 1 hour. The dishes included two basic and regular tomato sauce pasta that you can cook at home. The wine is simply disgusting. My girlfriend threw up. Please do not take into consideration the good reviews of this restaurant. Unbelievable!

Not the Little Italy experience I was looking for. Guy had pop music blaring over a speaker next to our table, which was just irritating and not in line with an Italian restaurant. We arrived early but still waited a very long time for our food. Had to remind the waiter to bring our wine. Ordered the chicken marsala - FYI, it’s only chicken (for $25). No pasta, no side of any sort. Disappointing experience.

We have been dining with IlL Cortile for 15 years when visiting New York multiple times per year, and we have always been amazed with their service, food and since of family! You have to include the best Italian Restaurant in Little Italy when traveling to New York City!!!

The best Italian food we ever had. Great ambiance, food and staff. Looking forward to going back real soon hopefully when dining indoors is allowed.

-Very Christmas decorated Italian restaurant -no pizzas, Italian cuisine. -without reservations it will be difficult, we had to wait 15 minutes even though we had reservations. -food was excellent -staff super good mood, were always ready for fun -we will be back

An amazing restaurant. Best restaurant we have been to in NYC. Full of history. From the beautiful ambiance to the staff and food. It was a wonderful experience. Great wine and cocktails as well.

Setting was nice in the back garden room. Dinner started off with some stale bread. The "Special Cold appetizer" only came with one slice of prosciutto and was under- whelming. The pasta dishes ordered were adequate, nothing to race about. The surprising thing was the pasta sauce seems to be bland, not flavorful, probably trying to appeal to the masses I suppose. Overall average for the price paid.

Last Saturday (12/10/22) my wife and I had lunch in the "garden" room. Before making my reservation, I had read the negative reviews, but decided to go anyway. I made the reservation at the start of their day (12 noon)...when the kitchen and staff are fresh and not under pressure. Upon entering I gave my name. I was given a warm greeting and the maitre d' acknowledged my requested table. The restaurant was decked out with beautiful Christmas decorations and my two seater had a great view of the room. Our waiter was "Sammy", a terrific guy, who helped with menu selections. To let you know, i come from an Italian family (South Philly), so i appreciate good Italian food. Try the Rigatoni Speciale....it was off the charts. So many subtle flavors in the sauce! Not often does a restaurant deliver the "whole package"....from greeting, table, waiter, drinks to desert, Il Cortile delivered an amazing, Christmas time in Little Italy meal. One of the most pleasant in the last 5 yrs. A big Thank You and Happy Holidays to the staff!!

Always will be my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! Great food, staff and atmosphere. The specialty cocktails and wine were fantastic as well!

Had a family reunion and brought them all to Il Cortile for one of our party nights -- it was fabulous!! The service was friendly and top notch! We were shocked that the meatballs were as good as our Italian Grandmother's! She was not happy about that!!! Must say the Fried Baby Calamari and the Chicken Scarpariello were also excellent! Il Cortile is now our only place to eat in NYC Little Italy!!

We were delayed in arriving until nearly closing, but they were very accommodating and served us. The gnocchi were huge and filled with spinach, ricotta, and chicken. Very good. They was also a special pasta and meat dish that was only served Saturday and Sunday which was quite tasty. Honestly not the best Italian food I’ve had, but very good and solid service. Won’t go wrong here.

I made a reservation for my family five days in advance on Yelp for 7:30pm on December 28, 2019. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 and were asked to wait near the entrance. Then we were escorted upstairs to a small bar to wait for "a few minutes" until our table was ready. We thought that (like every other restaurant in New York) that sometimes you have to wait a few minutes for the table to be ready even when you have a reservation. To our surprise and disappointment this was not the case. Ultimately we ended up waiting an hour and ten minutes in a very small, hot, crowded bar. At no point were we notified how long the wait would take. At no point during this time were we asked if we were okay, or given a time update, or offered anything. As we were waiting more and more customers were brought upstairs to this small bar. The small bar was so packed you could barely move and there were not ample places to sit. From the bar we were able to see the restaurant and noticed throughout the hour and ten minutes a few open tables and even a table for six (which could have been for our family) standing open for over 15 minutes. There was no method to the reservations, people were seated before us even though we got there earlier. There was a man with glasses and a suit and a young woman with curly hair handling the reservations. They were both not only apathetic but not helpful at all. There was clearly no organized plan, random people were getting seated before us and we were clearly not the only group waiting for a very long period of time. As someone who works at a much larger (over 700 tables) restaurant in Europe I was so shocked and appalled but the disorganization of the people handling the reservations and lack of customer service. Obviously I understand that Saturday night on the weekend between Christmas and New Years Eve at a popular restaurant in Little Italy is going to be busy. However, that is no excuse for a lack of a method. The restaurant should not be taking any more reservations when the place is so packed that you can barely move and when there are people waiting there for over an hour who had an advance reservation. If you are not going to keep to your reservation times why even allow advance reservations? Thankfully the food was very good and our server was great but all this was overshadowed by our unpleasant hour and ten minute wait. Next time I'll just go to my usual spot in Little Italy Paesano.

I started visiting this restaurant about 20 years ago. It is still my go to Place when we visit NYC. Outstanding meal and service second to none. I love how the waiters work together to bring a memorable experience. Kudos to them and management. I ordered Pollo Rollatine Vall d’ Aosta as my entree. Normally I would never order a chicken dish when I dine out but am so glad I did. This chicken dish was maybe one of the most flavorful dish I have had in a very long time. Wow!

Great experience from A to Z and the family loved it! Will definitely visit again on next visit to Manhattan.

We came here for the first time. Like being in Italy. Waiter, Angelo, was very good, but didn't rush us--could have stayed all night. We shared the burrato with tomato--very good with pears. The homemade pasta dishes were delicious, but portions were large and rich--linguine with clams (white) & rigatoni with sausage, mushrooms and ricotta. Authentic.

My group and I had a lovely meal at Il Cortile. The ambiance and service were great and the food was very tasty! Would definitely recommend and go back :)

I come here every time I. Am in NY—ask for table 6 1/2 where Tony from the sopranos sat. Service was good—the food wasn’t as good as it usually is….large portions —be sure to ask for a table in the back room as it is so pretty!

Excellent food and service. The staff was friendly. All of our entrees were tasty. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

It had been a few years since we were last here, but Il Cortile didn't disappoint. We were up in New York for a family event, and had a few hours to kill before getting on the train and returning home. We walked through Little Italy and looked at how everything had changed since the last time we were there. Then decided just because the neighborhood had changed, we didn't have to. And went to Il Cortile for lunch. I had my usual -- Linguini with white clam sauce. They always chop fresh clams for the sauce, which is so much better than canned clams. Also tons of garlic. Absolutely delicious. My bride had the broiled scallops in a rich sauce. Loved every bite. We both used the (very good) bread to mop of every last bit. Sent the plates back to the kitchen so clean they could have just rinsed them off and used them again! (Which of course they didn't do.)

Just wanted to thank the staff and chef on such a great dinner. My family of 8 came to the restaurant we all ordered different choices so we can share and have a taste of each. Each dish was better than the rest. The staff was very good and had each item hot and ready to go. It’s a must during the holidays. I was very impressed.

Beautiful ambience; excellent, friendly, attentive service. Delicious food. This place is a lot bigger than it looks. Pretty bright atrium seating, an addition to inside and a bar. Service was great. Fried calamari was good, bread at the table also really good. Branzino over spinach risotto was excellent hot and fresh. Spaghetti marinara with shrimp was also delicious. A pinch pricey, but worth it if you want a lovely and not touristy experience. We also got seated at the Tony Soprano table, which was funny. Lots of Soprano memorabilia on walls.

We ate outside so we could "people watch". Service staff was effiicient, and the food was delightful.

Wonderful lunch on a beautiful day. Delightful staff, particularly the maitre d’y, Joseph. Friendly, helpful. Excellent seafood pasta, which we shared and was served to each of us evenly. Good bread. Outstanding in all ways. Highly recommend. We will be back!!!!

The best Italian restaurant in Little Italy! We make it a point to dine here anytime we are in NYC. The food is amazing, great wine list and service to match! We thoroughly enjoyed our most recent meal and had a pleasant evening sitting outside dining al fresco. We are looking forward to our next trip.

How the heck do you choose a restaurant for your first visit to Little Italy? Everyone has their favorite, they all look good. We chose Il Cortile, and I'm glad we did. It was delicious, traditional Italian food. Before Il Cortile, my 5 year old said she didn't like red sauce. At Il Cortile she ate every. single. bite. And then ate cake. I'd definitely recommend.

Love this place. Very well run and they work hard to make you feel at home. We were able to be seated in the Atrium Room and had an awesome meal. Antonio, our server was fantastic. He guided us through the menu and we had an awesome seafood pasta appetizer in a light red sauce. My wife had the special, Pork Osso Bucco and she thought it was the best she ever had. The meat was so tender and flavorful that she did not use her knife. I had a Rigatoni dish with a Vodka Sauce and asked for the large meatball as a side dish. Pasta was homemade and sauce was excellent, The meatball was out of this world. We will be back to this gem!

I booked months in advance after reading the reviews, and requested a table for 9 persons. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready, but the restaurant was almost empty, we were shown to the area where our table was being set up, we were told to sit, then was quickly told off by a waiter for sitting, also, I found out after we left that the waiter had slapped my 18yr old niece on the backside on the way to our table!! Outrageous behaviour! The food was ok, and a bit pricey! Not a great experience for our first evening in New York! Never again!!

Attended wedding reception here and went away very impressed and stuffed. From multiple appetizers to the wine to the two desserts everything was incredible. Great service, friendly attentive staff. It’s a place I would definitely return to for a regular dinner.

Love it so much we decided to celebrate our wedding there! They accommodated 85 guests without a hitch! Cocktail hour-perfect! Ambience-perfect! Wait staff-perfect! Food-PERFECT! Sal and Manny, thank you!

It was early in the evening. The waiter was not amused to give me a single Table. Another waiter shouted at me asking what I want to drink. Just tabwater was fine for me, not for the waiter, unwillingly, impatient he gave to me the menu. I was too shy to raise my voice. The meal was ok. Full of anger I forgot the pin-number of my credit card, payed by cash. Nice evening.

Characteristic restaurant pertaining to the old and now almost disappeared Little Italy. Friendly and precise service and finally here the Mediterranean cuisine is respected with a complete ITALIAN menu , varied and of excellent quality. High prices but we are in New York 2024... Recommended!

Il Cortile was a very nice restaurant. The food was good. Larger than most inside for Little Italy. We sat in the Garden Room, which was very nice and sunny. The waitstaff was very friendly.

Meals with family after a big day of visiting. The meal was excellent. Seafood spaghetti and bolognese spaghetti for my two teenagers, homemade pasta for my husband and gnocchi for me. Everything was excellent and it had been a long time since I had eaten Italian as well outside Italy. I'd advise you.

We picked Il Cortile based off hearing and reading positive things and had high hopes for the food. It was very pretty inside and we liked the setting, however were disappointed with the food. I ordered a seafood linguine in a white wine sauce, but the sauce was non-existent and the dish was so bland. There were only 2 mussels and 2 clams in comparison to being overrun with squid, so that was also a little disappointing. My partner had a pizza which he said was okay. Overall there was nothing wrong with the experience, it was just a bit underwhelming and bland.

I started going to Il Cortile when it first opened back in 1975 and I became a frequent patron of the restaurant. The waiters and chefs were all from Italy then. The food was superb, the ambiance delightful, and the waitstaff were gracious in their service and attitude. I highly recommended this restaurant to my friends both local and those who were traveling to NYC. The last time I had dinner there will be my last. The waiters were shouting to one another over our heads, and they couldn't get us out of there fast enough.....and we were NOT lingering. As soon as two of us had finished our dinners, the waiter grabbed our dishes and place settings leaving us to look at a bare wooden table. Another friend was still eating with her fork full of food in her hand when the waiter tried, not once, but twice to take her plate away. No one even asked if we wanted coffee or dessert after dinner. The food was certainly not the quality that it used to be. It's really a shame because it used to be such a lovely upscale restaurant with amazing cuisine.

Went here while reuniting with some friends from college. They were happy to accommodate our party of 6 and quickly sat us. Service was friendly and the manager stopped by several times to talk with us. Food was great and everyone was happy with their meal and portions were perfectly sized. For being in little Italy, NYC the prices were very reasonable. The accordion player and singer were also a nice touch!

If I could I would give IL Cortile a zero star rating. After being seated - from the very beginning of our dining experience our party of 20, we experienced rude servers - waiters, refusal to accommodate our requests. Food was fair at best. Portions were disgraceful. Scallop entree, was comprised of 6 scallops, each the size of a quarter. And for $28, $5/scallop. I've had tapas w/ more food, better quality food, and for far less $. Appetizers were equally disgraceful. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT.

I have been to Il Cortile multiple times when visiting NYC and brought 3 friends tonight. Everyone loved it. We had 1 pasta dish, 2 chicken dishes and a fish dish and it was all delicious. The service was prompt, friendly, and courteous. We highly recommend this restaurant and will be back again.

My fave in Little Italy! Charming and cozy inside or outside. The food is delicious pastas, fish, salads Comfortable atmosphere. Good people watching if you sit outside or in the front window! Servers are professional

Our family had a delicious dinner here. I recommend making reservations to ask for a table in the beautiful courtyard. The service was good and the food was excellent.

We returned again to IL Cortile. Up from Philly, for a Holiday lunch in Little Italy. We hit bad traffic coming from mid-town, but a quick call and the maitre d' held our skylight room table. We were welcomed like part of the family ( and at one, Soprano's style, sitting at JG's favorite table). They have managed to deliver the whole package every time we visit, and this time did not disappoint! Drinks to desert, they delivered....but treat yourself and order the stuffed chicken ( Pollo Rollatine...) with the marsala sauce...just off the charts good. Thanks IL Cortile for making our lunch so special!

This is a beautiful, quaint little spot that is much larger than it initially appears! We stopped in after strolling for a late lunch and they accommodated our seating preference by a front window to people watch. The food was incredible and decently priced, the sangria was fabulous and we wandered around the restaurant exploring after we were done eating. The atrium was absolutely beautiful (we requested to be seated there first but it was full, for good reason!). The authenticity, quality and pace of our meal was stellar. A great recommendation from a well-traveled family member and a great find!

We stopped in for Sunday lunch and had the back dining area almost to ourselves. The marble and columns decor set the mood for a Roman experience. We had one "Sunday Sauce Rigatoni" with sausage ($32.00) and one Rigatoni in Creamy Vodka sauce ($20.00) both perfectly prepared and reasonably large portions. A Cappuccino was $4.50

So many choices in Little Italy but the garden room made the choice for us. Lovely setting in summer or winter-very pleasant. Service was good, menu had some different options- we especially enjoyed the Sicilian salad- crisp romaine with salami, olives, cheese and tomatoes, very lightly dressed. We also had rigatoni with fresh cherry tomatoes and seafood linguine. Excellent bread basket. Prices were higher than some other restaurants on Mulberry but food was very good. Also pricey wine list but they do have $12 glasses.

Our first dinner in New York was here and it was delicious. The staff are friendly and attentive, without being over the top. We had the stuffed mushroom and sausage pie for starters and then the seafood linguine and the sausage and mushroom Fettuccine.

We came here on the recommendation of a friend and it was indeed awesome. Everyone enjoyed their dish. The fried zucchini was wonderful. Highly recommend the Italian lemon drop martini

Very nice experience sitting outside with a very relaxing atmosphere (very different in Little Italy than it is in Times Square). So this is in Little Italy and is pricey but you do feel pampered. It was my birthday so a gentleman came over and played happy birthday to me on his accordion. That was awesome! They start out with a bread basket of awesome bread and breadsticks and we got oil and balsamic vinegar to dip it in. Just try not to get carried away with the bread or you’ll be stuffed because the food is very tasty. I got a chicken dish that was stuffed with cheese, mushrooms and vegetables. Very tasty. The others in my party got Gnocchi, cheese ravioli and a linguine and everyone liked their food.

I brought some friends from out of town to dinner at Il Cortile. Angelo was our waiter. He’s one of those waiters that truly loves what he does, and he effortlessly provides a top notch experience. His knowledge of food and wine combined with his jovial and charming nature really made our night! This continues to be one of my favorite NYC restaurants. They knock it out of the park every time. You will not be disappointed!

My family of 4 plus 1 family friend dined here on Thanksgiving night. We did have reservations and were seated in the lounge area until our table was ready. The staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The food was outstanding!

We visited IL Cortile for dinner and it was fantastic. The food, classy and fun staff, atmosphere and VINO was excellent! I highly recommend this fine dining restaurant! Can’t wait to go back..

Went on the recommendation of a Manhattan-ite. Very glad we did as the food was just as good as it gets. Lots of it too. You never walk away hungry from an Italian restaurant and Il Cortile is no exception

On my first night in NYC I had a lovely dinner in Little Italy at Il Cortile. My table was in the atrium and cozy. Staff was attentive which is always appreciated. Started off with an antipasti of mozzarella with tomato and basil followed by one of their daily special pastas, ravioli stuffed with short ribs. Loved it. An apple tart finished my meal. Highly recommend.

A bit concerned that this was a typical Little Italy tourist haunt, No! Beautiful back atrium ( bring sunglasses!). Excellent veal with eggplant and peppers. Lovely waitstaff and wine list. I will make this a regular stop! Grazie!

We ate here in 2016 and had a fabulous meal so we were looking forward to going back and celebrating our anniversary. It was awful. Great service, but the food was extremely poor. I’ve had nicer pasta that I’ve boiled myself and poured a ready made sauce onto. Did not enjoy a single thing about our visit.

I went here on the recommendation of a nearby hotel and had a delicious meal. The panzanella salad had fresh and juicy tomatoes and the fettuccine di parma had great homemade noodles and fresh ingredients too. I enjoyed these with a glass of the house chianti. The kind and attentive servers brought a complimentary glass of spumanti to have with my bomba (frozen dessert) and that was a great end to the meal! The space is really large in back-- the garden room is very pleasant-- and can easily accommodate larger parties.

Good food and lovely atmosphere. We were a family of 4 with 2 children in their teens. The food was delicious and well prepared. Everyone found something that suited them. Quick and Nice Service.

i tried pasta with seafood and it was the worst i’ve ever had. if you are searching for something that tastes italian, don’t come here. the pasta was full of garlic and the seafood was tasteless. never coming here again

Absolutely gorgeous food, wine, cocktails and service. Best Christmas Day meal ever! We wanted somewhere the NYC families go, and we’re lucky enough to find it. It’s very popular so make sure you book.

Really nice Xmas vibe, atmosphere was good, not quiet but not too loud also. Service was excellent, menu explained well and prompt. Food was fantastic and very good portion size. Would definitely return when back in New York 😀

This is not authentic Italian. Table bread tasted like bulk purchased rolls. Pasta was boxed and sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Stay away.

Recommended by a work colleague it was FABULOUS -Ceasar Salad - Coconut Mojito's - main course I had a veal chop that was cooked to perfection with the most amazing sauce! My sister had cheese ravioli - pasta melted in your mouth! It was everything you would want from an Italian Resturant in NYC. Food, ambiance, singing in Italian... just amazing!
Don’t go here!
What an awful place. I love a good Italian restaurant but this place was just terrible. The good reviews amaze me? Perhaps we were unlucky? We turned up on time to be told our table isn’t ready, we’re hustled into a dirty corner at the back for a drink. No menus? Chucked a wet business card with a QR code to never see a barman again. We eventually get hustled to a table where we couldn’t hear ourselves think or speak to one another - everyone was shouting around us. Told: no menus and we have to scan another QR code. We eventually get served and the food came out quickly. The majority of it was edible - but not of a good quality. Quantity yes but quality - no. To summarise: Don’t go unless you want a roust noisy night out with bad Italian food.
