⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Hill Country Gem Just Minutes from San Antonio! In Contrada Vineyard delivers a Fredericksburg-style wine country experience — but it’s just 13 minutes north on Bulverde from Evans Road! We enjoyed a beautiful afternoon under their covered outdoor seating area, sampling a delicious wine tasting flight paired with wonderfully prepared appetizers. Every bite and sip reflected exceptional craftsmanship — bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors and clearly curated with care and culinary finesse. The service was nothing short of exceptional — we were greeted with warmth and charm by Kai, whose hospitality set the tone for the visit. Samuel took over with remarkable attentiveness and genuine care, anticipating our needs and making us feel like cherished guests. Their graciousness elevated the entire experience. What also sets In Contrada apart is its setting: private, vineyard-arched tables (available by reservation) that feel like you’re transported straight to Tuscany. We even had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, Ed, whose passion for the space was evident as he mingled with guests. His daughter, Brianna, is also actively involved — their hands-on presence speaks volumes about the heart behind this vineyard. In Contrada offers Sinatra-era music on Thursdays and live performances on Fridays and Saturdays, creating the perfect backdrop for proposals, bridal gatherings, or intimate date nights. The wines are local in the sense they were poured into a bottle here but from nowhere near this place. Reds were ok, but whites were unspeakable. Lots of dried old vines Pasta was nothing special and pizza pretty unimaginative. This is not a winery as we know it. It's a long way to drive from the city and not worth it. We went as recommended by a person we should not have listened to. More fool us. It's no Fredericksburg....

We arrived at when they were closed, but the owner Ed welcomed us in like old friends. We enjoyed two amazing bottles of wine and an awesome charcuterie board while getting a peek at their stunning kitchen and enjoying fabulous weather. We even got to meet their talented Italian chef! The hospitality was unmatched—we left wanting to be members just to support such a special place. We can’t wait to return when they’re open to try the full menu, especially the linguini and clams, and to meet his amazing wife of 50 years he told us about. Don’t miss it, a great family place.

I went to this vineyard to continue the tradition of going to vineyards as part of my birthday month celebration. This vineyard did not disappoint. I made a reservation and when we arrived we were immediately seated inside and the fun began. My friends who accompanied me and my husband were also quite impressed with lunch and the tastings. My husband and I had the charcuterie board along with separate tastings. My friends ordered the pizza, one tasting to share and another alcoholic drink, and we all shared the food. The pizza was fresh and delicious. The charcuterie offerings were also varied and tasty. Our wine tastings were done at our leisure and pre-picked by the vineyard --yet we still enjoyed them all. There was a guy singing and playing guitar who was pretty good, so the live entertainment also did not disappoint. They also gave a souvenir glass to keep. I think we will be back!!

Worst winery I have ever been to. Was visiting family in San Antonio and decided to try this winery based on its reviews. Both myself and a family member got two different winery flights. Mine mainly consisted of red wines and my niece’s consisted of a blend. I had five to try and she had six. Each one tasted the same there was nothing to distinguish between them. Worst wine I have ever tasted and they served it in these plastic containers. This winery is a joke. Driving an hour away and go to Fredericksburg to taste some amazing wines at their wineries. Not sure if the food is good, but we went for the wine and very disappointed. Would not go back again.
