Good food but needs more staff!

By Magnus1968 |

Got a half price voucher for the restaurant and went along on a Thursday evening. It was busy with about 40 people in there, but only one waiter to cope with all the people! He did his best but was almost literally rushed off his feet and had to ask for things several times (straws and the bill four times!!). Food was very good - especially the empanadas and the chicken main course dishes. Big portions. Excellent value for money with the half price discount but would have been pricey enough without it.

Good food friendly service

By BrandonJ_13 |

Food was light and flavorful and server was very friendly and attentive. It was my first experience with ceviche and I highly recommend it.

Good place to go with Lincoln Center nearby

By David N |

This is a quiet Peruvian restaurant with a limited menu. I always come back here because they make the best fried seafood I've had in New York. In Peruvian cuisine mixed fried seafood plates are called jalea. I would highly recommend the jalea prepared at Inti. I have also had ceviche here and it was also good. It's a big dining room painted in warm earthy tones. I think prices are quite reasonable. For the food I order, this place is hard to beat

dissapointing

By elizabeth g |

Went with Peruvian friend and was all excited for "authentic" Peruvian meal...dissapointed by just average food and service, nothing special! The chicha morada was watered down; the ceviche was somewhat mealy and the jalea was reasonably good. Service was mediocre...

Food Great - service and live music had issues

By acouplewithoutborders |

We went here for the first time with family. Every dish we ordered was not only affordable but Amazing flavor. We love peruvian food and have eaten at many peruvian restaurants and the food was as good as the best of them. The problems were: The place was packed and there was one waiter. We don't know if its the norm or someone was out but it didn't make sense. The main issue was they had live music with speakers. We were seated farthest away from the music by the door and still, it was SO loud we couldn't say a single word to the people we were eating with the entire time. It was comically loud and we were writing notes on our phones to each other. This is not an exaggeration - we couldn't even speak to the waiter until the song ended. We dont' think they have live music every day but it really made the meal un-enjoyable.

love their food

By tony c |

If you visit New York and you don't try their empanadas, you have missed something special! They also make a special Peruvian drink (non-alcoholic) which is wonderfully unique. Be advised that it's a BYOB restaurant, but Cellar 53 one block South on 10th is an excellent source for beer and wine.

Loved the place

I booked a reservation on Savored (30% off bill) for 7PM on 6/26/13 for 5 (my gf, and 3 friends from Europe - 2 Frenchies and a Belgian). I checked yelp before I reserved and noted 3.5 stars which to me is good enough to check it out. The euros didn't want any euro or Mediterranean food, so Peruvian was a cuisine that could surprise us; we didn't know what to expect. We walked in and noticed the lone male server other reviews mention; he was very nice and told us we could have any of the big tables. So we all sat down. Now our group was big and we were chatty (including Euros who like to chill at dinner) so I don't recall, but I believe it took a long time before he came to take our food order (drinks he asked immediately for). We thought it was a very well paced dinner since we were so chatty. Appetizers: Tiradito Inti which is sashimi style fish in this pepper yellow sauce w/big corn pieces and sweet potato. Our table loved it. We asked if they had any bread we could dip in the sauce (there was a lot leftover) and when he said no, we asked if it would be ok to grab some at D'Agostino's across the st. He said of course, no problem. We came back with French Baguette and the plate was clean as a whistle after we finished. Chicken empanadas: delicious. It seemed like diced chicken and these were a lot more tasty than other empanadas I've had. Very nice spice included. Mains: The 2 frenchies ordered the Banquete Killa; a whole chicken, rice, salad and fries. They enjoyed it; I tried some of the white portions and thought it tasted great (I am a dark meat fan). French fries tasted like potatoes which was nice. I believe the Belgian ordered the Picante de Camarones and loved it. There was some yellow sauce that was different from Tiradito and he cleaned up. My GF and I split the Mero Inti; seabass. I thought the seabass was prepared almost as well as it could be. There was this little sweet taste for each bite and I loved it. The vegetables weren't amazing, but that may be a function of them being healthy. The waiter brought us each a shot of the Chichi Morada - purple corn drink. I loved it; it was sweet almost like a fruit punch. The euros didn't love it since it was a bit too sweet for them. We asked for the check and the waiter did not apply the savored 30% and had no problem changing the bill. He was very nice and seemed very busy. We loved the food and had a half filled restaurant to enjoy any ambiance there was.

Very good meal, huge portions

By Laurel H |

Well we had never been to a Peruvian Restaurant before but there was a Groupon before our trip to NYC so what the heck. It was a little out of the way for us as tourists so we took a cab instead of trying to walk. Having never being to a Peruvian Restaurant before we weren't sure about some of the apps, we tried the Causa De Cangrejos, Sculptured mash yellow potato stuffed with layers of Peruvian style crab meat, avocado and onion, excellent, then we had the Banquete Inti a meal for two he claimed well two of us could never have finished all the food and it was all excellent. It consisted of a whole roasted chicken; very yummy, plantains, rice, beans, huge salad and French fries the worse part of the meal was the fact that we had a Groupon that also included dessert but we persevered and plowed through a very excellent Flan. We then rolled ourselves out of the restaurant and into a cab. I must tell you there was one problem they had run out of wine and beer but the "owner" I am assuming told us we could get one just two doors down and bring it in ourselves, cheaper so it worked for us. Would I suggested it or return, in a heartbeat.

Very good Peruvian restaurant

By Dayong W |

Very lowe key restaurant, food was great and very reasonable price. I don't quite understand why it won't attract more people to come in and dine in. We went there for brunch on Sunday and we were the only two people there. The waiter was great and seemed to enjoying what he was doing and he shared some cultural things with us for his country...I will strongly recommend to give this restaurant a try.

Favorite Peruvian in NYC

By Ellen K |

This is best Peruvian restaurant in NYC, and I've been to several. The atmosphere is great for couples or groups of people who actually want to talk - the music is kept quiet, rare to find anymore! This is our favorite place to take people when we want to have a great meal, relax, and catch up!

A Peruvian Gem

By DrAlisonEyring |

This little place is just north of Hell's Kitchen. We went by accident and were absolutely pleased that we ended up here. The food was excellent. Pisco's were too. Good wine list. Very reasonable prices.

Addictively spicy

By rebecca m |

Had a late lunch and food took a while to arrive, the appetiser roasted corn was gorgeous, when the food arrived they were worth the waiting. Ordered lunchtime special chicken with boiled spinach and fish with rice and broccoli, the fish was fresh and tasted marvellous, the green spicy sauce was divine, I want the recipe, would like to go again next time when we are in the city.

Avoid karaoke night at all costs.

By Orin C |

Music and bad singing all too loud in a restaurant with no acoustic treatment. AMAZING food though and very nice wait staff. Would come back (just not during karaoke night).

Delicious Food

By Jan V |

We were there and ate for the first time peruvian food. It was just delicious! The waiter was very friendly and helpful. We will come again!

Great food, great service...

By karamon |

Amazing little restaurant with authentic food. A hidden gem in Hell's Kitchen. Went there on a Groupon and we were impressed. The food was <add your own delicious superlative here>. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in NYC. Be aware, although not all dishes are spicy, they all are very flavourful, so if your idea of a flavourful meal is a rotisserie chicken cured in salt and roasted, then you may not enjoy the full bodied flavours this restaurant has to offer. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed every bite I took out of my dishes (3 course meal) and was not disappointed even with the bill. Yes some of the prime dishes (fish, seafood...) are a little on the expensive side but this ain't a burger chain. If you are going as a group and want to save, order a whole chicken and share with either some appetizers or other platos. Everything tasted supercalafragalisticexpialadoshusly wonderful! If you're going all out, calculate ~50 USD for 2 people and you won't be disappointed with your investment.

Such a pleasant find!

By Cynthia7244 |

We had dinner here on a groupon because we wanted to try the food and we were so pleasantly surprised!! The food is tasty and authentic, the service was wonderful and we left with full bellies. Try the Camarones and the Tamal... you will not be disappointed!!

Incredible food, great service

By Bav20 |

Inspired to go because of a groupon offer, but that didn't deter from getting friendly and courteous service. We were able to choose from the dinner menu. Food was absolutely perfect. The cheviche mixto had sweet potato which was a nice contrast to the lime soaked seafood. The Jalea was not too greasy nor too dry. Hot sauce (not sure which dish it came with or if it is offered for all entrees) is bright but hot, think of spicy cilantro. If you want to try an interesting drink, try their chicha morada, made of purple corn.

Fresh and tasty

By princetonarea |

Three of us at dinner here, prompted by a Groupon. The appetizers were great and I thought generous. We ended up with 3: Cevice de Corvina, Palta del Inti (stuffed avocado) and calamares. Definitely go for appetizers. As for the main courses, the Arroz con Mariscos (think paella) was generous, less impressed with Picante de Camarones. A bit out of the way, being on 10th Avenue, but worth a repeat visit.

Wonderfull Peruvian

By Rovergaard |

It's got dated furniture and decor, but the food is GREAT. We went on a Monday night during UN Week with a bunch of folks in international development. They know their food. We all loved it. Everything from Ceviche to a whole chicken, great sauses, interesting flours, good portions. They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own!

The Pictures Don't Lie

By Russell F |

We were a group of 4 going to Inti prior to a Broadway show. The restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable. The food too, was excellent. The problem I had is that what was ordered, was so small portioned for what was being charged. First dish, the medium jalea. The "seafood" on top was 5 large squid rings and 3 size 36-40 shrimp. Second dish, the picante de camarones (compare management's picture to my picture of what was actually served!) Four shrimp that were 3 different sizes was served. No vegetable, with quinoa. The one large shrimp was a 16-20, while the smallest 2 were 36-40, a size you shouldn't find in this type of dish. It looked very unappealing. Third dish, camarones Inti. Again, only 4 shrimp (size 20-24) we reserved, but at least there were a few broccoli florets served too. Fourth dish, banquete killa. What was supposed to be a whole chicken ($24) turned out to be 1/2 a chicken, and overcooked on the burnt side. Waiter told us that a whole chicken was $8 extra, even though the menu clearly showed a whole chicken. Appetizers were a tamale ($8) and the ceviche mixto ($16). Both were the highlights of the meal, although the ceviche was mostly squid rings. All in all, it is unfortunate that I felt ripped off by Inti at the conclusion of our meal. The food is quite good, but the tactics, portioning, and ridiculous presentation just ruined the $120 meal!

The best between the hundreds peruvian restaurant

By SILVIA Z |

If you want to eat the best Peruvian food, do not forget to visit this place, its quality has never changed, I follow it for more than twenty years

A step above

By JillConnecticut |

9th Avenue has many small, inexpensive restaurant choices but INTI (means sun) is a step above in selections and price. They have created a pleasant ambience and nice bathroom! The food is quite good with helpful service. I forgot my credit card and they sent it to me quickly so I didn't have to replace it. I really appreciate that!

Great portions - chickens, rice, beans, and FLAN!!

By CHILL617 |

Got my Groupon on here a little bit ago. Loved the roasted 1/2 chickens, rice and beans, avocado salad and French fries. The flans here were delicious. These were the best chickens I have ever had. I had the same meal the next night at home. No BYOB in Jan 2015.

Reasonable food, service could be better

By Ron K |

Location - about a 15 to 20 min walk from Times Square Setting - casual , dining tables spaced far enough from each other , nothing special Food - yucca fries and fish ceviche were good . The fish was fresh and tasty . For main , I had some sort of mixed seafood dish in a slightly creamy sauce - serving size was generous , the dish itself was fairly good but not wow. Service - our server was reasonably nice but everything felt so rushed there . I think the restaurant was short staffed, and the servers were running around constantly, which made for a dining atmosphere that was not relaxing … I’m not in a rush to go back to Inti

Great Peruvian Food.

By Inkaprincess |

Loved this place. We celebrated my sister's 40th birthday and it was perfect. The food was delicious (ceviche de pescado y mixto, chupe de camarones, bistec a lo pobre, camarones inti, and arroz chaufa). The drinks were very tasty (maracuya sour, cholopolitan, and chilcano). And the service was outstanding. They brought out a little tres leches cake with a candle so we could sing happy birthday and it was as yummy as it looked. My sister was very happy and so was the rest of our little group. Definitely coming back next time I'm in NYC.

Good Food, Friendly Service, Pleasant Atmosphere

By Alexander M |

Inti is a wonderful Peruvian restaurant that never seems to be very busy and for the life of me, I can't understand why. The cerviche is excellent, the tilapia with spinach and mushrooms was delicious and the traditional deserts (they only have two—flan and a very], very moist cake) were tasty. Service was fast and friendly. The music (which happily was not too loud) was a pan flute playing familiar tunes in the background. If you want to try Peruvian food, Into is a great place to start.

The Best Indian Place!

By adam r |

This place made me fall in love with Indian food. Too many great things to list but I highly recommend this place. Everything we had was fantastic!

Cannot go wrong here

By 64aly |

I was excited to get back to Inti after stumbling upon it last year after looking at the local car dealerships nearby. This time, my wife and I recommended it as an alternative for out of town friends who hadn't had Peruvian cuisine before. I knew it would be a hit ... you cannot go wrong with that chicken. My friends ordered the ceviche and avocado appetizer platters and they were also amazing. Prices were very fair for NYC. Service was friendly and mostly attentive, though they did seem a bit short staffed ... maybe because it was a Monday.

You Should Go Here

By Daniel D |

Great restaurant in mid-town. Food and service are both excellent. Food was beautiful. I am not an effusive person but this was a great choice and you should go here.

Very good Peruvian Food

By navitt |

I've been to Inti several times and have loved the food every time I've gone there. Their ceviche is excellent. I've had both their Ceviche Mixto as well as their Ceviche de Corvina and I prefer the one with corvina only. The taste is just as good as I've had it in Peru. Any entree with rotisserie chicken is great. They make delicious chicken. The sauce they serve it with is so good. I've also had the Arroz Chaufa with shrimp and that's also delicious. Whenever I'm in Manhattan and want to have authentic Peruvian rotisserie chicken or ceviche I go there. It's definitely a great choice.

Disappointing

By DMP |

So very disappointing. I live in the neighborhood and was looking for a new restaurant to try, but I have to say, this was not it. The atmosphere is nice. The wait staff was nice. The food however was not good. I ordered a Pisco sour which tasted fine but there seemed to be very little alcohol in it. I told the waitress and to her credit, she gave me a shot of Pisco to add to the $14 drink. Then we ordered an appetizer of Causa De Cangrejos, which was the tastiest part of the meal. I then followed it up with Parihuela, which was a salty broth with chewy, and what seemed to be not fresh fish. Could barely eat it. My friend had the grilled flank steak that she said was not good at all. I am so sad to write this review because I was so hopeful. It was also not inexpensive at $80 for the check. I've been to Peru several times and this food does not do it justice. I will never return.

Awesome staff, great prices

By Nana B |

Inti has some really sweet staff members. They were especially courteous and welcoming. The food here was very good. Tried the fried rice with seafood (shrimp, scallops, calamari) and another with chicken...both were great. Camarones Inti was great as well. I can't wait to go back and try out the rest of the menu. It seems like there are a lot of Peruvian places in the area and this is one of the good ones.

Fresh, tasty, and spicy without killer heat

By Michael0909 |

I happened to walk into this place on a whim early on a Saturday night (about 5:30), and am glad I did. The decor is tasteful, the space very clean and inviting, and hardly anyone else was there. I ordered the Chicken Saltado, which was excellent -- an abundance of layered flavors like soy, ginger, other spices, and the vegetables mixed with it, yet nothing was overpowering; the balance of flavors was just right. The spicy cilantro sauce they served on the side was also fresh and excellent (mildly spicy, but nowhere near overpowering). The service was perfectly attentive. A nice find while walking around Manhattan.

Very good food and good value

By Nigel K |

We tried this restuarant during our vist to New York and we were impressed. The service was friendly and we really enjoyed the food. Worth a visit.

good food

By traveldreams2 |

Went on a weekday night for dinner - it wasn't too crowded. The waitstaff was attentive and nice. Our party had chicken fried rice, seafood with the potato for appetizer. The potato appetizer was delicious! Would go back.

Good food and value

By NYPanda888 |

I usually order barbecued chicken at Peruvian restaurants but decided to go outside of my comfort zone and order the Tiradito Inti (basically ceviche fish in a spicy sauce) and Corvina a Lo Macho (seafood with rice and red sauce). Both were good tasty dishes, and the sauces were great accompaniments. I had a chance to try both the flan and cake (the flan was much better). The service seemed very harried and rushed, even when the restaurant wasn't full. I'd definitely come back for the food, especially to try the chicken next time. Overall a good value for Manhattan.

Honest food, good service

By Willem S |

I love ceviche and they didn't disappoint! The other dishes were also well executed: nothing very complicated but decent ingredients and lovingly put together.

Just average

By worldtravel29 |

The food was expensive and not worth the price. The chicha morada was so sweet I had to add water. The beef in the arroz chaufa was so dry it was like beef jerky. My family enjoyed the ceviche and the lomo saltado. The lomo saltado was the most expensive dish and the serving was stingy. This was my first and last time visiting this restaurant.

Great Experience!

By PrettyPRChick |

I attended a makeup launch party that was hosted here. There were a lot more guests that originally expected and Inti made it work. It's an intimate space, but we all packed right in there. Lol. The staff were very professional and accomodating and the food was delicious. This was my first peruvian dining experience. They served us a five course dinner served on small plates, like tapas style. We had roasted chicken & avacado salad, empanadas, the most delicious buttery shrimp and rice and a couple of things that I can't remember. They also gave us a coupon for a discount on our next meal there. I'll definetly be visiting again.

Good chicken!!

By jo_b78 |

I have only had take out. The whole chicken is amazing. We had it with salad which had avocado on it my favourite! French fries and rice were good. Will defiantly have again!

Great Peruvian Food on 10th Avenue

By UpPastBedtime |

Sometimes we make an excuse to not head west off the busy blocks to 10th Avenue – but this local eatery was absolutely worth the extra block! Inti NYC had fresh, delicious food, and a kind and knowledgeable wait staff (thank you Gregorio!) that took the time to help us make our choices from the Peruvian menu. The portions were perfect, the food fairly priced and the cocktails well mixed. We enjoyed the whole evening, from appetizers to desserts – we will definitely be back!

Special tastes

If you don't know the Peruvian food, this is a good place to try. Try an entry with avocado and shirimp... it's great.

Ordered for delivery during the pandemic

By tian s |

Ordered for delivery during the pandemic for a number of days. Average, decent food, nothing special. The basic salad is very basic with romain lettuce. The soups are interesting, especially the beer-based soup with seafood. The other corn- and egg-based soup had less flavor. The ceviche was only average as were the soggy, limp french fries. The sweet plantains were good, but greasy. The rice with beans is good, the rotisserie chicken was average as was the pork with beans. The traditional Peruvian drink was good. The deserts were nothing too special, including the ice cream. My guess is that like a lot of these restaurants, the dining-in quality of the food is better than the delivery.

OK Food, small portions with Groupon Voucher

By Moritz22 |

We visited the restaurant with a Groupon voucher. The food was okay but very small portions. The causa was so small we did not realise at first that it was supposed to be our entree. The pisco sour was excellent but overall we were a bit disapointed.

Inti

By pteronura |

We went before going to a play... We are always looking for Peruvian food inthe tristate area... and this one stands to be one of the best we have been at! We tried a sample from ceviche, parihuela, lomo saltado, papa a la huancaina, yuca frita and everything was outstanding! Not salty which usually happens with Peruvian food. Seafood was fresh and flavorful! One of the best restaurants we have come across!! Service was professional, timely and friendly.

Delicious and large portions 5*

By ROSSANNA_Y |

We were visiting from the UK and love Peruvian food. The service was great and the food was delicious! The pisco sour was well made and the portion sizes of the food was on point. Would 100% recommend

Slightly out of the Way. But worth the TRIP!

By RayH6869 |

Located on 10th avenue between 54th & 55th streets, certainly within walking distance for theater diners, before evening or after matinees performances, this restaurant will pleasantly surprise you. Food is absolutely incredibly delicious, the staff is courteous, friendly and efficient. Prices are quite reasonable considering the amount of food that arrives at your table and, although you may not have room for dessert, they are fantastic. Try the Flan!

Great food, great service - great deal

By JeffVH |

Wife picked this as a dinner for two on groupon. Figured we'd try it prior to going to Broadway show... Pleasantly surprised! Very attentive service, excellent food. We had Ceviche Mixta - terrific flavor and just a hint of heat. For our two entrees had the half chicken and pan fried seafood..fresh and full of flavor. Finished with Flan and Tres Leches cake - can't go wrong! Very much enjoyed the meal. Would go back - and you can't beat it with the Groupon deal, too!

Chose the wrong dish, good service though

By Ido8all |

I love Peruvian food so I thought I should try Inti which is very close to my new apartment. When I walked in it was empty (5:30pm) so I got all attention. Music was nice. I really wanted chicken however the choice I made was terrible . I didn't want to return the dish and maybe I should. It just didn't feel good. I will give them any other try and check something else. Hopefully it will be better.

Cute place with DELICIOUS food

By 543CANO |

My friend brought me to this place during a recent trip to NYC. For starters the place is larger compared to most NYC restaurants and not busy. It is the true definition of a mom & pops store. No need for reservations. We had the ceviche (delicious.com) and fried rice with chicken (portion large enough to share). Everything was great however there are a few things that kept this place from receiving 5 stars from me. 1. Older style decor, 2. No alcoholic drinks, 3. You must ask for ice in your water.

Excellent Peruvian food

By GaryBrazel |

The seafood is excellent- both the cerviche mixto and the Corvino a lo macho. The salad is best for two. If you bring your own alcohol, there is a $10 corkage charge for wine and $1/bottle for beer. They were selling two alcoholic drinks (pisco sours and sangria). Pisco sours are the national cocktail of Peru (and Chile). It is made with pisco (a grape brandy) mixed with lime juice, syrup, egg white, bitters and ice. Lime is the dominant flavor- if you like the taste of limes, you will like this cocktail. There was only one waiter for most of the time we were there. He was really hustling around- it looked very hectic for him, but he somehow managed to do it all all (take orders, bring the dishes, clear plates, mix drinks, refill water, work the cashier...) with no delays. It was impressive!

An adventurous location and dinner

By stevelotte |

We had a fun evening at this Tenth Avenue restaurant. The servers were all friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and plentiful. We tried 2 appetizers and 2 main dishes and enjoyed it all. We had the cold mashed potatoes stuffed with crabmeat and yucca fries for our appetizers. Our main courses were a shrimp and broccoli dish over rice which was fine. The other choice was shrimp tacu tacu and this was delicious. Tacu tacu is made from rice and beans and the shrimp were cooked in a pepper and onion saute. There was live music playing as we were finishing up our early dinner, they were setting up and beginning to play. We didn't have drinks or dessert but they certainly had some great options.

Good Peruvian Food and Very Courtious Waitress

By Sharu123 |

Had dinner at this Peruvian restaurant with my wife and was pleasantly surprised with good food and very courteous waitress. We asked for some Sangria but learned that the restaurant does not serve any alcohol. However, our waitress offered complimentary glass of "Chicha Morada" the traditional Peruvian purple corn drink, we found refreshing. We also tried "Peruvian Kola" but were not much impressed with it. "We shared an appetizer of "Ceviche Mixto" and had "Tilapia Inti" and "Corvina a Lo Macho" as main entrees. The food appeared to have fresh ingredients, was well prepared and fun to eat. We also tried "Flan" and "Tres Lenches" for desserts, which we think were OK but did not deserve any special mention. I will recommend this restaurant and we will perhaps go back again.

Que Bueno! Good Peruvian food

By Cbrownie |

There is delicious Peruvian food at Inti on 10th Ave. It's a slightly upscale restaurant w a variety of appetizers. Our family had empanadas, a stuffed avocado, and beautiful Causa de congrejo (stuffed yellow potato w crab, avocado & onions) For our main meal, we shared a rotisserie chicken (plenty for 5), semisweet plaintains, Chaufa ( fried rice), shrimp, salad, and rice and red beans. Lots of food. Good service and sangria. I'm going to go back for the ceviche.
