Best ramen I have ever had.

By Toalka |

Best ramen I have ever had. Period. Full of flavor, excellent presentation, comfy atmosphere and friendly staff. Best ramen in NYC.

Ramen with great vibes

By AlanaMaria |

Loved the music and energy in this place. The menu was extensive so we had lots of choice & the ramen itself was amazing. It was the perfect place on a cold evening in March. The restaurant had an upbeat and happy vibe - retro music (80s & 90s) with a modern baseline - nostalgic yet funky. I’ll be back for sure

Best ramen in the world?

By BennyLovers |

We are big ramen fans, and this is definitely the best we've had. The atmosphere is outstanding, and the food is worth the wait.

Everything is wonderful.

By Roy H |

Great place. Great food. Great vibe. Great service. Simple. Had an appetizer ( steamed bun) and a Ramen. Fantastic. Can’t wait to come back.

Gluten free goodness

By CanberraDiner |

This remains the only ippudo I’ve found that does a gluten free ramen option. (I often wonder why they don’t do it at their other locations worldwide?). In addition to being the only GF ramen, it’s also awesomely good!

Amazing Ramen

By Brookebp |

My girlfriends and I came here in the afternoon and shared a few things. Everything we ate was great but the ramen was exceptional

Overpriced, Not authentic

By Bossanovalover222 |

If you think Ippudo’s ramen is good, you have no idea what real Ramen is! It’s overpriced and doesn’t taste anything like real Japanese Ramen. No wonder I didn’t see any Japanese customers there. Go find one owned by Japanese and where Japanese people go. It takes years of training to make good Ramen and it’s soup. Real Ramen is a serious business. Don’t be fooled by fake Ramen.

Amazing Ramen and buns

By DBM Business Traveler |

Accidentally walked across the place without knowing anything about it. Walked in and was amazed by the super great Ramen and buns. Quality and tastes were really extraordinary. Even if youre not that hungry you MUST try the eggplant buns. Service was quicker than blinking and staff was efficient and nice.

Fast and Tasty

By lightningboy |

We went on a Thursday night at 8pm and were seated right away. The menu has a moderate assortment of items to choose from. Our server was helpful and attentive to our needs. We ordered the Shiromaru Kasane and it arrived quickly. The noodles were firm as I like it and the broth full of flavor and not too creamy. Here you cannot customize the noodle firmness or richness of the broth unlike some other Ramen places. Also there is no hot sauce or chili oil to add to your liking. Overall we had a very good experience at Ippudo and would recommend it.

Wow = perfect

By 601gabiv |

My second time here. This time I had the kale salad with noodles. Great dish tasty and big in size. Drank sake - orange flavored which was really good. Last year I was there and had a great ramen and cucumber salad which were excellent. I came around 3:00 - after rush hour and found place immediately. Great athmosphere : they announce (in Japanese) every guest that's coming. Very good service.

Tasty ramen

By Aliasblue |

Nothing better than a delicious bowl of hot ramen on a cold day. Try the ramen here you will not regret it. Definitely want to come back and try other menu items.

Dinner out on warm summer evening was perfect

By TravelingGuy60 |

Went to this ramen spot on a warm summer evening with mi esposa. The appetizers were yummy. Ramen entrees were great, including vegetarian options. Deserts also scrumptious (highly recommend the apple tart). Would return in a heartbeat.

Get the standard ramen from the menu

By pflau |

I've been to the place twice. The first time I got the "special of the day" ramen, and was rather not impressed - the soup wasn't like the rich pork broth I was expecting. The second time I got the Akamaru Modern from the menu, and was very impressed. Deliciously rich. Not quite as good as ichiran but still excellent. I got the seasoned boiled egg, which was perfectly cooked and was placed in the soup for you. I also got the seasoned bamboo shoots and the spicy paste. They were very good and the spicy paste was very very spicy. I also got the ramen refill as there just wasn't enough ramen for the big bowl of soup you get. I will go back whenever I'm near by.

Great first experience with Ramen

By Aaronwoo |

My closest experience was with the $.25 packs I bought in college. This was absolutely not that. Great service- pretty big for a NYC restaurant. The appetizers were really good. The ramen was amazing. Be prepared for a wait.

Best Tonkotsu

By Jatler |

We eat a lot of Ramen. Most places are dissapointing. Especially after trying Ippudo. I've been going to nearly a decade. It's the best every time. Their tonkotsu is superior The pork belly is always perfectly cooked. The noodles are home made annd amazing. Many people are buying the noodles to go If you think you know the best Ramen in the city and truly are a lover. You need to eat here before you crown your champion. They're worth it.

Steamed Pork Buns!

By gcinptc |

The ramen was fine but the steamed pork buns stole the show! Nice ambiance and great service. Restaurant was small. We waited a short time when we arrived early (5:30) but line was long when we left.

Great Japanese food

By Damian J |

Really good food. Meaning proper Japanese cuisine and not just Sushi. The smells of the dishes were amazing and the portions were sensible, as was the pricing.

Great environment and food

By Rubens A |

Great place to get a nice food within a great environment. The ramens are excellent and seems to be the great speciality of the restaurant. You can chose a small variety of entrances, very tasteful. I liked so much the entrance with “Japanese bread” and pork. I really do not remember the name. Desert was great also !! A kind of lemon “cake” ice with chocolate. Great! Last but not least, the price is great also! You probably will spend $30-35 per person with beer and desert. Finally, my unique negative point is the waiting time to get a table. The restaurant does not offer reservations, so it is difficult and painful to wait so long to get a great meal!! They need to improve it!!!

Excellent ramen!

By BabsBillingsley |

We slept in one Saturday morning and decided to skip breakfast and go straight to lunch. Our teenagers chose ramen so we looked for the best one near our Times Square hotel and this seemed to be the place to go. We agree! We got there around 11:40 and got a table for 4 no problem but it was mostly full! (And quite a few groups waiting for tables when we left an hour later.) Food came fast and it was perfect! Servers were excellent, very kind and patient when we asked about a couple options. We got the “modern” and the spicy ramen and loved them both.

One of the bests ramen in town

By alfrexs |

I went to ippudo as a recommendation of a friend so I finish a meeting close to the restaurant, the place is super cool I checked twice the street to find the place is like real Japanese street or alley restaurant but inside is really nice I spend 15 min waiting for a table so I grab couple of Sapporo and I ordered the pork buns (they are amazing is a really Must try) and a bowl of ramen with pork, the broth is super tasty and rich the pasta of the ramen is excellent and the mixture have no complaints, they also serve vegan options, when you go to a place and you find Japanese people eating there is because is like home! And the price is ok is a normal price for a dinner in NYC, ok the service is good you have to remember this kind of place is fast, I spend 15 min waiting plus 25 min between ordering and eating,I highly recommend this place for a different and authentic Japanese ramen!!

Best Ramen

By Katrina M |

By far the best ramen I have ever had!! Hands down!!! The noodles was perfectly cooked and the broth was just bursting with flavors. Try their chicken wings as well.

Awesome

By Brittany D |

It's a very small location, but very nice inside. We only waited 15 mins but by the time we left there were tons of people waiting. Staff was so friendly and the food was delicious. Best meal we had while in NYC.

Meh. Too much hype

By BellaFella82 |

The wait isn’t worth the wait. I was disappointed with everything I had here. No plans to ever return.

Great Ramen

By Dr_Iris_B |

We had heard so many good things about this restaurant and had to try it out! It was busy but the wait wasn’t too bad- next time will reserve a table… We had the classic Ramem and it soooooo tasty Very friendly service and great atmosphere !

OMG. So good!

By Tammy L |

My first ramen and we loved it! The drink was yummy though my husband ordered at the table (I got mine at the bar before we sat down) and his dinner never came. The place was packed and jovial. Great vibe. Delicious food. Will come back!

Can't beat it

By Matt M |

This place was amazing. The broth and noodles were so so good. Got there around 11:30am on a Saturday and waited pretty much exactly the predicted 20 minutes for a table. Based on previous reviews had the chicken Ippudo Buns and two varieties of ramen and everything was 5-star good. Can't go wrong.

Delicious ramen and fast service

By Bamafan |

First time eating ramen and what better place than NYC! Started off with the cucumber appetizer (Goma-Q) seasoned with sesame oil with some mild chili flakes. Each bite was fresh and delicious with the sesame oil not overpowering the rest of the dish. The ramen entree selected was Shiromaru Motoaji (added an egg for an additional charge) that was non-spicy. Delicious pork tonkotsu broth with plenty of noodles with the option to order more. Washed everything down with a flask of their sake served with two small beakers for consuming (cute concept).

Excellent

By Chris B |

From the moment we stepped inside, we were superbly looked after by the very attentive staff. They genuinely all seemed to love what they were doing, and had a real camaraderie and team ethic. The food was delicious...we all had ramen, and we left very happy.

Super good!

By mags5557R |

Super good, had the cucumber salad thing and the spicy pork ramen. When we got there at 5:30 they said 45min wait for 3 people but we ended up getting sat 15min later. Service was very quick, they have lots of people walking around refilling waters and clearing plates. Good vegetarian options as well. Didn’t end up getting the buns this time but looked very good at other tables.

No gluten free options

By beita& |

In the description it says that they have gluten-free options, they had, THEY NO LONGER HAVE. I crossed half the city to have a gluten-free ramen because Tripadvisor says they have gluten-free options, and I was left wanting. Thanks to the waiters who served me, they were very attentive and tried to help me with everything so I could eat something. It should not appear that they have gluten-free options, so that more people do not make mistakes.

Delicious ramen!

By AML |

Second visit (first 2 years ago during a family holiday), and still a great place to eat! Delicious bowls of ramen, good selection of appetisers, quick and efficient service. Nice lively environment. Busy - recommend booking if you can.

Ravished by ramen!

By Robin B |

The reviews said to get there early and we were there when they opened. Ordered the ramen and it lived up to its reputation. Bring your sumo appetite because it is generous. The spicy is very hot but delicious. Order the regular if you don't like heat it is also delicious. T he service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere lively. On our next visit we just ordered appetizers , all of them , and they were all delicious! Loved the shishito peppers but beware 1 in 7 is very hot. Make them ourselves at home now. Sauteed in oil and lightly dusted with sea salt. Yum! Yakitori was delicious, and grilled fish. Would go back any time we are in new york. We went to the Westside location midtown. It's rare that we like everything at a restaurant but the food was exceptional. Also the steamed bun with pork filling was heavenly. Could have eaten more than one. A definite go to place, 10 stars.

Love this place, great food!!

By Lovetotravelfamily4 |

Love this place, we eat here every time we are in the city. An order of pork buns and then we like the spicy ramen dish. i suggest waiting for the counter seating if you have time, but if you are more than 2 people you will probably want a table.

Excellent ramen and buns!

By stingley23 |

My wife and I love this spot! They have THE BEST pork buns in NYC, with a legit amount of delicious pork and a very tender bun. The karaka spicy ramen and fried gyozas are also fabulous. The servers are nice and attentive, the space is very comfortable and modern and we come here everytime we visit nyc. Also, it's a great pre or post theatre spot!

Incredible Ramen in NYC

By isdn4u |

I've had ramen around the world, but for my taste buds, Ippudo knocks it out of the park! The experience of the small, cozy place is more than enough for the senses! The unique menu goes way beyond ramen and the handmade craftsmanship of the noodles. Side dishes are another hidden gem! The small signage that keeps Ippudo tucked away from the mainstream tourists helps keep Ippudo a great place!

Best Ramen in NYC

By Chefmariela |

The place is very nice, always full and they do not take reservations, so be patient. The Ramen is totally worth the waiting. I had the vegan with the sesame broth which was amazing! And it was more than plenty. They have a cool thing, if you run out of noodles at any time, you can ask for an extra and you will have it ready in less than a minute! The bar is the best place to sit by far! Very nice staff. Congrats.

Great Ramen, fun ambiance

By Matthew J |

Ippudo never disappoints! The sizzling hot beef and cauliflower appetizer is excellent. The broth is flavorful and the ramen delicious. Extra pork is not necessary but is great. Outstanding service, no wait for a table when solo. I eat here every time I come to NY.

It’s 100% Ramen

By Joanne L |

But it was good. We got the special chicken ramen meal. It was not the usual large bowl but it was good. Could have used a tad more flavor. It’s a small seating area on one side and a hibachi group seating on the other.

A Convenient Version of a Washington Square Classic

By Ray Shaheen |

This is a welcoming spot with an abbreviated menu, and excellent service. It is good for a business lunch, or a quick bite before a show at Radio City Music Hall. It is small, and lacks the panache of the original, but it is a reliable choice for a light meal.

Very happy

By KatMIA |

Great place, we ate on the East side 65 4th Ave. There always is a wait list, waited about 30 minutes was early 6 pm. But worth the wait. Had to show Covid vaccine/ license to enter. There was 5 of us, we all had Ramen dishes and all were different and very good. Just a nice atmosphere and good food.

The bao, the bao, the bao!!

By nepalgorkha |

I ordered the shrimp sushi which was pretty tasty and my friend ordered the vegetarian ramen which he thoroughly enjoyed. The star of the meal was the vegetarian bao which was fantastic as always. I think I will return to Ippudo just for the bao yet again.

Overrated

By Chmpgnrose |

Ramen immediately after a Broadway production of "Wicked." This ramen business has been on my Yelp bookmark "to try" list for a very long time and I decided to give it the o' college try after reading all the high praise reviews. I became another victim of an open mind and was lured into ' "Will you walk into my parlour?' said the Spider to the Fly" by Mary Howitt. The bowl is gargantuan for depth but the actual ingredients are small. The noodles is significantly smaller portion size very minimal for a $16 price furthermore, there is no soft boiled egg included like most ramen businesses but must be requested at a additional add-on charge. I ordered the Akamaru Shinaji $16 ramen which was average and nothing beyond extraordinary. The "Umami Dama" paste was not impressive to me. The broth was nice. It does contain immense flavor without MSG and within mere minutes I engulf the entire thing but, unfortunately, did not eat my fill. Ippudo's ramens does not quell starvation as I was still hungry afterwards. For a price of $16 I felt was the illusion of less food in a gargantuan bowl. As per their ramen menu there are only four (4) measy limited options for ramen: Shiromaru Motoaji, Akamaru Shinaji, Karaka Spicy, and Ichiraku all priced $16. Consuming Chinese hand-pulled noodle soup surely eats my fill, but not Ippudo's ramen. Customer service is attentive acknowledging it was a summer heat wave day and high relative humidity index the staff offered ice cold water to patrons upon being seated. I arrived for a very late lunch of 4:20 pm on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait. Sitting at the bar counter was a simple request that has been granted for one person without issues and without waiting. Are you a freak like me who frequently dines alone? The loneliness doesn't bother me anyway. Business cards are available for grabs. This business is easily accessible by C or E train at West 50th Street within walking distance to West 51st Street intersecting 8th Avenue and 9th Avenues.

The best noodles

By Agustin Nieto |

Without doubt the best noodles I have ever had. Even if you have to wait a long time to get a table it is highly recomendable. In the meantime you can have a Japanese beer at the bar with some edamame.

Very tasty ramen!!!

By Gabriela Vera |

One of the best ramens I’ve ever had! The service is pretty good and the venue looks nice. Next time I come to NYC, it will be in my list of must do

Mentioned noodles and this is where I ended up.

By Jan R |

Funny how seeing a picture on a food cart can send you to a sit down no of ramen...Not the kind every college student exists on. This was the real delicious stuff.

Finest Ramen I have ever had and not expensive for NYC

By HarryHHarrie |

My daughter is a Asian food nut, she said we have to go to Ippudo for dinner and so we went and boy am I glad we did, as I understand it you cant book for this restaurant but you put your name on the list when you arrive, we were told 35 min wait but it was more lie 10 minutes, always pleasing, Ramen is the dish at this place and it is fabulous, the taste and textures are sublime, the finest Ramen I have ever had, both my daughter and myself had the same with added soft boiled egg, my wife had the belly pork steamed bun and the sesame seed chicken wings and they were top quality too, all up $70 plus tip, a bargain, if your in New York this is a must place to eat.

Food is OK but reception is rude in handling crowd

By Kenny |

i would have given a 5 if not for the reception. Very rude in handling crowd. He also got my name wrong.

Simple and Delicious Ramen

By peyjax |

Family of 5 with 3 grade school kids. Everyone loved it! Got here about 5:30 right before our off Broadway show. Service was excellent and never pretentious. We have one who got the ribs as they are not fans of Ramen. It was so good and devoured quickly. Very busy but was never rushed. We got out within an hour so just in time for the show. Perfect night! There was a heavy line when we left by 6:30 so keep that in mind.

Best Ramen in NYC

By Max D |

Been going here regularly whenever I catch a show here. They open till 11pm so perfect for that after theater snack. The hours from 9pm and on are the best times. All other hours, and you’ll be waiting like a dummy. My first impression of this place was so-so. I did not like the loud atmosphere and the staff yelling in Japanese. What are they saying every time a new customer arrives? “Mo money mo money mo?” Who knows? Their usual pork ramen is too salty however this new clear broth chicken ramen for the summer is IMO, perfection. Perfect flavoring and not too salty at all. I order the same every time and only this because it’s so good. Just delicious noodles of joy. For $3 you can get more noodles which is a great deal because oftentimes I find myself only wanting to eat noodles and nothing else. I had extra noodle twice in a row which is a bit extreme. Not only is the chicken broth amazing but the two slices of chicken breast meat cooked to perfection as it is neither over nor under cooked. Service is always speedy and courteous. Their kitchen is quite big and clean and looks like in good hands of some talented chefs. I never had to wait more than 10 mins for my ramen and it always comes out piping hot and yummy. And the bill? Oh man, living proof that not all fine things in life are expensive.

mixed feeling

By Wei C T |

we have travelled to many parts of japan and tried different types of ramen. i wouldn’t say this is the best ramen we have had. the restaurant serves tonkotsu kyushu-style ramen which is served in rich, cloudy pork bone broth. while we enjoyed the bowls of noodles, we find it rather rich towards the end. this is not the style we like the best, but overall it is a good bowl of ramen. it’s probably considered great in new york standard. the restaurant was busy during our visit. we waited for at least 90 minutes before a table was available. we could have left but somehow persevered the long wait. will i come back again? probably not.

Miss the old place…

By Aaron M |

Sad because this used to be one of our favorite restaurants in NYC. Service has slowed tremendously. Rude behavior from workers. Prices doubled from what we remember. Noodles over done for the first time ever. Feels like a totally different place and now I’m scared to ever go back. Took 10 mins for a server to greet us. Had to ask twice for a paper menu. Anyway…I guess I’m venting. LOL

Average rating because 20% tip is expected- no less

By travelodgie |

Delicious Ramen. Generous portions Did not taste like instant noodles as some others have posted. Waitress chased after us for a 20% tip and would not accept less. But I think this is customary in the USA, which I did not know about?

Divine Ramen

By DanaW873 |

We had a quick lunch here on our last day in the big apple. You do not need to go to Momofuko. Please go to Ippudo instead. The ramen was so flavorful and the dishes were colorful and a delight. We got a table easily for an early lunch, but I can see how crowded it must get a peak hours. Many men and women of all ethnicities are eating here and enjoying the Japanese fare. My husband wanted to order everything. We had ramen, but diners were enjoying the gorgeous pork buns, BBQ and the kale salad over noodles looked divine. There are traditional tables, but we recommend eating at the noodle bar where you can watch the bustling kitchen and hear the staff sing their welcome greetings in Japanese to all new customers. It was a great experience for these Southern tourists.

My favorite spot in NYC!

By The World is My Oyster |

Once again, it didn't disappoint! I absolutely love this place. I really like that the staff welcomes everyone that walks through the door. This is by far the best Japanese food I've had outside Japan. The pork belly buns are my favorite bite anywhere in NYC. The ramen are also delicious with fresh ingredients. I absolutely recommend not passing on this amazing little gem!

Best Ramen in Midtown!

By Janice S |

This was the most amazing Ramen I have had. It had such a great flavor. I would call it "comfort food". The restaurant has a decent amount of seating and we were served very quickly. Definitely give this place a try.

Excellent ramen

By Karen M |

The ramen here is the best as well as the bao buns. Service is friendly and prompt. Do not miss if you are in the area.

Excellent Asian restaurant

By Nir Gal |

A nice surprise on a side street in NY, delicious Asian dishes, beautifully presented, good and efficient service, fair prices, highly recommended

Best Ramen Ever

By Trent R |

My daughter and I loved this quaint Ramen spot on the Westside. The Ramen and pork buns were delicious. Thanks for making our day special.

Perfect on a cold day

By GenevaGarciaEllen |

So good, we ate there twice in one week. It was cold and rainy outside and the food, service, vibe warmed us all up. Thank you!

Worth the wait!

By Ingrid F |

We arrive here about 5pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. We were told the wait time was 30-45 minutes. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wait that long but I’m so glad I did. The pork buns was so delicious; I which they offered take out. The Ramen noodle was very good. Looking forward to my next visit.

Interesting place.

By Durwood N |

We had dinner here on a Friday night. It was very crowded, but it moved rather quickly, and their time estimates were close (they don’t do reservations). The food was extremely good, especially the ramen and the buns. The only criticism is the bar, limited to sake and beer. The service was outstanding, being quick and accurate. We will definitely return.

Excellent ramen- fun atmosphere

By Matthew J |

Ippudo is outstanding. I visited the location on west 51st Street for dinner. No reservations and very crowded by 6:45. No problem, the wait was 20 minutes and the sake at the bar was very good. Nice appetizers available at the bar if you can’t wait. The service is attentive and helpful, food comes out quickly. My ramen was excellent with flavorful broth nice vegetables and pork. I also tried the Wagyu beef slices which I cooked on a hot stone on my plate - delicious. Reasonable prices, great food and great service. I highly recommend Ippudo.

Decent Food but Overpriced

By James J |

There are other ramen joints in NYC with equally tasty dishes but more resonably priced.Nice ombiance but you cannot eat ombiance.

Delicious

By Bubbagourmet |

Our friend recommended this to us and we were so happy. The ramen was fantastic and the pork bun was sooo good. Friendly great service and delicious food.

Nice food but give a tip or don’t came again

By giwasa |

Nice food and good service only tip. Otherwise they need your visit . And don’t want you in the restaurant . I choose to give no tip and I was tell right away that I am not welcome in the restaurant . I should order the next time . To bad. Good food , a nice host . But the employee that give us the bill was rude and shouldn’t work in a restaurant

Great Find!

By Jana B |

Stopped by this little place as it was a block from the hotel and had great Yelp ratings! FOOD: They advertise fresh seafood and noodles, but I had the hot, puffy buns with chicken and in pork. They were divine, soft, steamy and perfectly spiced & cooked chicken. My daughter had a bowl of noodles and said it was really delicious. The sake in my photo was my favorite new find, will have to see if I can find it in Dallas! ATMOSPHERE: This is a really energized place! We sat at the bar, which is similar to communal tables. We sat next to another Mother / Daughter, native New Yorkers and it was a delightful time. They were regulars and made suggestions and told us what the waitstaff was shouting & the patrons response meant. (You can experience it yourself--quite fun!) SERVICE: We were waited on quickly and professionally & even though the waitress didn't tell me her name (my pet peeve), it was still great! TIPS: Go early, we went at 5:15 and had to wait 15 minutes but the regulars said there is often an hour or more wait list.

Gosh darn good ramen. Go spicy!

By getatChris |

Decent tonkotsu broth and just amazing go steamed pork/chicken buns. Amazing, truly great! Best meal of the trip. Get the steamed bun with chicken. Why wouldn’t you? You’re a freak!

A pleasant discovery

By Tania C |

We had dinner at Ippudo after a brief online search of the best ramen restaurants. The first night there was a long queue waiting, after 40 minutes we left because we did not want to waste time. We went back the next day for lunch and could not do better, we sat down almost immediately and ordered 2 different types of ramen. We couldn't have made a better choice! I recommend Umami, you will not regret it!!! Spicy ramen is also noteworthy.

Great Ramen & Buns

By Brad |

Ippudo offers up a great bowl of ramen, and some truly awesome steamed buns. I got delivery, and the food arrived hot, fresh, and disassembled to prevent overcooking. The ramen featured a great dashi, and a solid variety of toppings. The buns were the real star of the show though. The dough was perfectly cooked and slightly sweet, and they offer a great variety of meats to go in them.

Proper Tonkotsu with the creamy broth. Great sake too

By Death Trip |

A friend who heard i like tonkotsu took me here while i was in NYC and I was grateful that he did. A beautiful creamy bone broth with nice soft pork meat, just as it should be. I also recommend the sake which was smoother than any I have had before.

Only 3 gluten free options, all vegan

By Timih |

Quick, good service, tasty ramen. However, if you need gluten free options, do not come here. All their food (save 3, one of which is edamame) contains gluten. They do not carry gluten free soy sauce. If you would like any gluten free meat options, here you are out of luck.

Great

By an2niahil2n |

Shishito peppers were so delicious! I had them for the very first time and I really loved them! Great stuff and pleasent atmosphere

Worth the waiting time!

By Shanij60 |

After visiting another branch of this chain ,we decided to wait for an available table and we got an excellent meal. No surprises ,but delicious ramen. Recommended!!

Such a bad experience…

By Thomas |

What a disappointment! We had read some good reviews and we were expecting a nice eating experience with the family while visiting NY. We were not into the mood of ramen and we chose ribs teriyaki, tempura rolls, gyoza and chicken Kara-Age with and without rice. All our dishes were off taste and we left most of it although we were pretty hungry. As a last surprise, we were automatically charged of 20% tip by default! Just to complete the bad experience, my wife felt sick at night with the food she ate at this terrible place. We are usually not so critical, but this experience left definitively a mark…

Second visit (with kids!) as good as the first

By Galilayo79 |

It's been a few years since I first visited Ippudo, and this time returned with kids. The food and service was just exceptional. Tried their steamed buns (worth it!!) and a variety of ramen bowls. Everything was wonderful. Note that at 11am, when the restaurant opened, there was a line waiting to get in. By noon, it looked like a long wait.

I love it

By Monika B |

Ippudo is perfect. Really good food and very friendly atmosphere, the staff is super nice. I recommend this place.

Great place for ramen and buns lovers

By erka60763 |

Ate there a couple of hours before a Broadway Show, waited for twenty minutes cause they don’t get reservations, got a seat on the bar and the pleasure began: delicious chicken ramen with a pork bun, one of the best I ever ate

Excellent Fresh Classic Ramen in Midtown

By isdn4u |

A friend suggested Ippudo, and I have to admit-- the ramen was wonderful! I went to the 51st St location-- a little hard to find (really small signage). Get there early, the place fills quickly. Great handmade ramen noodles, excellent broth and authentic toppings! I had the vegetarian bowl (shiroi). Excellent. The karage chicken was also excellent!

Ok Ramen but....

By Stefan D |

Went with family early evening, decent atmosphere and attentive service. Ordered 2 x tonkotsu ramen and 2 x shoyou ramen, forgot the weird names on the menu. Taste was average to good but no gyoza on the menu, this is a big no-no in my opinion. With gyoza I would have given them 4 stars .

Ramen Place

By Adrian Tey K |

Had a wonderful tonkotsu ramen. Really nice not over rated the food is good. The ambiance was great and so is the service

Excellent food.

By JohnPatsi |

Excellent food. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly I waitress pinky was wonderful. She suggested God sake and noodles loved it we definitely go again

Hasty

By Caloma2 |

It was not to my liking food in the average very hasty service not precise high prices for what they offer , I think I waited more for the table than when I sat at dinner . P.S. I went for ramen in the sectional.

Taste like instant noodles. Doesn’t worth $18 a bowl. It doesn’t even have an egg. Worst.

By クリ |

Taste like instant noodles. Doesn’t worth $18 a bowl. It doesn’t even have an egg. Worst. The employees received the tips by cash, but still deducted tips from my credit card:)

Ramen dinner

By drzvoov |

The place is almost hidden bellow street level. The staff was very nice and quick. The pork buns and the two types of ramen we tried perfect.

Nice atmosphere, delicious ramen

As you can see from the photos these dishes look delicious and they certainly taste as good as they look! The service was also impeccable and the prices were more than reasonable. We visited before going to the Empire State Building which was in walking distance. Highly recommend!

Nouveau Japanese

Exciting flavors and preparations made the visit here a special occasion. We reserved early but by 6 PM was very busy with a wait line. Took college freshman granddaughter here and we were the old-timers for sure but the energy is terrific.

BEST BUNS EVER

By Jojanneke S |

I love this place and go here every single time I’m in town. You can snack plus drink at the bar while waiting, staff is supernice. And the food is awesome. Especially the buns are to die for. even the veggie one blows me away every time!! Great sake menu too!!

Excellent food

We spontaneously went to eat at Ippudo before going to see a musical and were delighted. Cool atmosphere, very attentive staff and the food was excellent! We felt very comfortable at Ippudo.

Great ramen

By sasquatchsf |

After trying our first Ippudo in Kyoto, we've been hooked. This location wasn't quite as good as the one in Japan, but it came pretty close. I'd recommend skipping the side dishes and just focus on the ramen, because one bowl is pretty filling. We showed up at 11:30am on a Saturday and were seated immediately, but I could see a line forming right after, so it's best to arrive before the usual rush.

Great pre-theater dinner

By kdm55 |

Outstanding pre-theater dinner. My daughter loves noodles and Ippudo was on her must visit on our school vacation trip to NYC. The restaurant was a block away from our theater. The food was delicious and fresh, the service was exceptional. Great selection of appetizers, Raman noodle dishes and yummy desserts. Generous portions, after my daughter finished her noodles but had broth left, they brought her a second bowl of noodles to add to her bowl. Highly recommend the pistachio coated chocolate cake and green tea ice cream dessert. Very popular place, lines form early but they turn tables over quickly. Very reasonable pricing.

Best ramen in NYC

By Nathalie De Clercq |

Best ramen in NYC. We always put our name down, grab a drink and a boa bun and enjoy the wait. The ramen is unbelievably tasty and the best fall/winter comfort food there is!

Great Ramen

By Dan S |

Ippudo New York is a short distance from Times Square. They have a simple menu and pleasant staff. If you like ramen this is a solid choice. Ramen runs $16-$18 a bowl. Buns are good too.

Solid ramen; pork buns even better

By Chevstar29 |

The pulled pork buns (a daily special) were amazing- the true highlight of the meal. I tried their version of miso ramen which was solid but not outstanding. The broth was flavorful but I’m not a huge fan of thin noodles and the chashu was a little skimpy. Service was outstanding and they go out of their way to accommodate solo diners.

Great ramen and great staff

By Leza H |

Love this place. A friend took me for lunch and we sat up at the counter. The staff all call out to greet each new diner as they enter the restaurant which creates a really welcome atmosphere as soon as you walk in. We both had bowls of ramen which were delicious and pretty big. We asked for extra spice to add to it and they brought it immediately. Great service. Not a budget freindly place to eat ramen as it's not cheap but it's a nice treat and very good quality.

Overstimated

By Mariano S. |

Before choose this restaurant, on 321 W 51st St,, i was reading the comment on Tripadvisor. So i really do not understand why so many people like this place. I order Shojin ramen (the most expensive ramen that they have) and one Sapporo draft. The Ramen were without taste, small portion and not very well cooked. So i add i "bakudan", kind of spicy paste. In one sentence the most worst ramen that i never had. C'mon guys if you really was there how you can wrote "the best ramen in New York"? Have you ever been to eat ramen, for example in Union Square area? I don not pretend that you visit some ramen restaurant in Tokyo (as me). But try to wrote something "real". Anyway after i paid the bill i went to talk with "the chef" (of course not japanese) and i complain to him. And what i get back from him and the two waiters? "Very sorry you choose the wrong ramen, we are not good on that kind of ramen style. You ordered wrong". Can you believe? You cannot be serious. Last but not least the bill was 30.49 USD. Never again.

good by nyc ramen standards

By Koonnang |

good by nyc ramen standards but clearly far from kyoto quality. Go if you need that ramen fix but don't expect much.

Always Our First Stop!

By ColoradoVisitor |

Off the plane and straight to the Ramen Bar at Ippudo after hotel check-in! We are always in the crowd waiting for the doors to open at 5pm. Favorite appetizers are the cha shus that come taco style. No matter what the filling, sauces are incredible—delicious start to the meal. Love the traditional, modern and spicy ramen variations. Must add egg and corn. Our big eaters add a hunk of pork and an additional serving of noodles. Just the thought of a meal at Ippudo is mouthwatering. Can’t wait to go back!

Yummy

By cristoph2010 |

Reserve before you go because this place is packed. Also, get there on time as they won't seat you if others in your group are missing. The ramen with the assorted fish broth was incredible. The serving was smaller than what I'm used to but the complex flavor made up for it. Super fast service.

Still the best

By 33map |

All buns, all noodles everything is superb. We also had delicious cocktails from the bar. The wait is always about half as long as they say so don't leave.

Best Ramen in NY....well worth the wait!

By Jessica S |

We go to Ippudo at least twice every time we are in NY. It is the best ramen we have ever had. The ambience, hospitality team and menu are all what you would expect of NY. This is always worth the wait.

Delicious!

Love the modern atmosphere! Authentic experience & delicious food. I recommend the pork buns and Akamaru Modern Bowl!

Delicious ramen on West 51

By Roxtor |

Ippudo is a small busy ramen spot with a good selection of noodle choices and starters. Ingredients are fresh and delicious. Service is fast and seating is a bit crowded but standard for noodle places. I like sitting at the bar. When you need a nice big bowl of ramen this is the spot that will satisfy.

Always Excellent - Every IPPUDO Manages to Satisfy :)

By lobsterabbit |

All of the Ramens are lovely - but the spicy one is always closest to my heart. Get it, or get the other Shoyu one and add the extra dollop of spicy to it, for the fullest strength flavors! Yummmmmmmm!

Ramen-licious

By Mymilesandsmiles |

Ippudo Midtown, there’s a small dark bar at the entrance (try the shishito-tequila cocktail). Pass through to the hostess stand, where they’ll first loudly announce you to the room in Japanese, then lead you to either a light-wooded ramen bar straight ahead, or a low-slung dining room of red leather banquettes and booths to the left. Be legit. Go for the ramen bar. I’ve been to this location a few times and everything we’ve eaten was delicious. Appetizers including sea urchin on torched bread and crab-avocado wontons. My favorites - *Pork Buns: These are the best pork buns ever. They’re leaner than Momofuku’s, and they have mayo on them. #delish *Hirata Chicken Wings: Excellent plate of wings that have been glazed in a black pepper sauce. They’re a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet, and VERY delicious. Order some! *Akamaru Modern: The best bowl of ramen money can buy. This thing is big, rich, and full of porky flavor *Shojin (seasonal, vegan and gluten-free) ramen

Best ramen

Love this place. Go there at least once a week. You have a great meal for 20 bucks! You can not beat that. Service is prompt and efficient.

Excellent Ramen

By Zivzivan |

Ippudo is a great place to have a quick delicious and not so expensive dinner- it serves mostly Ramen’s yet they are so delicious it’s worth the visit. Each Ramen costs $16-$17. ‏ I recommend the vegetarian Ramen. It was so tasty I will definitely come back again.

Worth the wait!

By Mosaicerica |

There was a 2.5 hour wait at 5:30pm on a Saturday night so we returned on Sunday for late lunch. Were quoted 45 minutes wait but were seated in less than 15. House hot sake and marinated cucumber bites from the bar were excellent. Like I would drink the marinade if no one was looking kind of excellent. Fantastic, attentive service. The person delivering our silverware noticed a small wobble in our table and promptly returned with wedges to stabilize it. My Omni companions raved about the pork buns and wings. My bowl of vegetarian ramen was amazing- layers of flavors. The pork ramen and chicken ramen (special) both got great reviews. The beignet dessert was average but the pistachio cake/chocolate mousse was divine! So glad we were able to eat here!

Delicious ramen soup!

By NoraExplorer |

My friend and I came to this Ippudo in a rainy night. It's a Japanese ramen noodle soup place with other dishes too but they specialize in ramen. Didn't realize the other Ippudo popped up when I tried checking in at this correct location. My friend said the other place has a long line. Well, it wasn't a short line here either. We waited for about 20 mins. The line moved fast. We sat at the ramen bar, a long huge rectangular shape bar with a lot of sitting. I ordered vegetable ramen and my friend had tonkatsu spicy ramen. I loved my soup! Tofu is included in vegetable ramen. It's worth coming here especially on a rainy night like this.

Ramen noodles from scratch

By Sarah L |

We went to Ippudo for ramen noodles made from scratch. We enjoyed the rich broth and noodles. Reminded me of ramen we had in Tokyo.

DELICIOUS!

By JakeinPA |

Yes the ramen is a little pricey but so so good. The place is very casual and busy and fun.The classic ramen is great but I think I liked my husband's spicier version even more.

Rich satisfying broth -Busy Ramen Shop

By Kate16 |

Craving noodle soup on a rainy day - perfect answer. Had vegetarian ramen bowl with rich sesame seasoned broth. Friendly efficient service - noisy but cheerful atmosphere. Not cheap but completely satisfying.

Good appetizers, ok ramen

By Jessica W |

The place was crowded when we visited for lunch on a Wednesday. But we got a table for 2 in about 15 minutes. Not bad! Service was friendly and efficient. The green tea pot took some time to arrive and was only lukewarm. Loved the pork buns and chicken wings appetizers. Ramen was ok (too salty for my taste). It was a bit pricey comparing with other ramen places in the area.

Small Menu, big flavour

By alayp |

Awesome ramen. True taste of Japan. AVG spend is $20-30 a head. The broth is fantastic, and can top up with usual toppings.

Could a restaurant be more overrated? Ippudo's answer: yes

By JakeStarTraveler |

Came highly recommended from a number of people but disappointed from every angle. Poor service, long wait times, shabby decor and the food was "just okay". Ramen from any hole in the wall place in NY is much better than the overpriced, under-flavored ramen that Ippudo offers. Save yourself not just your money, but also your time and go elsewhere.

Piping hot and spicy Ramen for a cold day

By Prithi D |

Lunch on a cold day in November called for Ramen! Searched Ramen near my hotel and this one caught my eye after many glowing reviews and it lived up to the hype! Menu is small but exactly what I was looking for. Ordered the Karaka Spicy Ramen and added tamago ($22+$3). Pretty pricey for Ramen but the quality was amazing! Piping hot and spicy! Service was fast and attentive. Place was packed shortly after opening on a Wednesday.

Real ramen, not just the American version of it

By Katia-spera |

Me and my boyfriend went here because an Asian friend suggested it and we were nicely surprised, the ramen was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The ingredients are high quality, the noodles are different from the ones you can buy at the supermarket and you can feel it, and the desert was amazing, I would have eaten an entire box of the matcha ice cream.

Best Ramen Ever

By Tracy C |

If you're looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this is your place! Minimalist, yet cozy décor. The service was absolutely top notch and the food was sublime. Their traditional pork broth was clean, subtle and absolutely delicious. Perfect handmade ramen noodles (which you can order as much as you like at a nominal cost), with tender and succulent pork medallions. I would return to New York just to dine at this restaurant again.

A Gem 🍴

By hermandree |

Great location, service, fresh & amazing flavors - the specials were varied and more than enough to eat EVEN though I had to finish my entree because I didn’t want the flavor to be over

Very busy, but worth it

By shvarz |

Excellent food, good service. They don't take reservations. The long lines (1 hr is not unusual) are there for a reason.

Delicious!

By Sly |

It was a bit crowded when we arrived - we were told it would be a forty minute wait, which turned out to be only about 15. Service was quick. We had the edamame, tori-karaage (which was very good), and the ichiraku ramen (it was great - the broth was lovely!). The black sesame mochidoki dessert was super tasty. Very good place for a quick bite!

Dependable and tasty place

By MrFiodie |

We went for a pre theatre early dinner. We were a group of tour - had the must-have buns - with pork and with shrimp both were great. One sushi roll and three different ramens completed a very satisfying dinner

Excellent!!!!

By ludy c |

Excellent!!!We had some really excellent Ramen in this place. Very nice and super clean spot with friendly service. The menu was small but with enough good choices. We had couple of different Ramens and shrimp and pork baos and they were delicious, very well prepared, fresh ingredients and great taste. It worked perfect for us during our NY sightseeing since it’s walking distance from Rockefeller center and st Patrick’s Cathedral. Excellent place that we will visit again for sure.

PORK BUNS!

By bassjwp |

Two words: pork buns. Normally my reviews are a bit lengthier, but numerous others have pontificated about the ramen with much more flair and accuracy than I could hope to. What I will add is the the pork bun appetizer is absolutely to die for. An order comes with two. Line up early, get a seat when they open, get two orders of pork buns and whatever else grabs you for dinner and thank me.

Delicious

By sofiahanchen |

Food is excellent..tasty..ambiance as well..friendly staff.....i hope to come bck again..tasty food..

Cool vibe, decent food

By BellaFella82 |

Cool vibe in the place, good choices. I found the ramen to be disappointing but the other appetizers I ordered were good.

Very bad customer service - avoid

By Navit Y |

We visited the restaurant on 3.6.22 At 7:30 pm. The host was nasty in the entry! The manager was rude, and when he was told that we will review our visit, he replied he couldn’t care less…. Ippudu’s food is usually good , this location is giving the brand a bad name . Avoid at any cost Go to other locations

The most amazing food experience

By BKGplayharder |

Simply amazing. Wonderful, wonderful food. You have to simply experience it in order to do it justice.

Good Japanese food

By TravelEatXplore |

Akamura Shinaji ramen has good broth flavor. The thin noodle compliments the broth. The pork belly slices was perfect not too fatty and over powering. Got the chicken breat chashu wasn't dry at all. The Hamachi Carpaccio was another good dish too. The fish was fresh. The panko crust along with the sauce was a good combination. I wouldn't get the cucumber. It last flavor

Great spot

By traveldoc27 |

I have never been to ramen place bidirectional, but my daughter loves it. Went here before show, and it was great. Staff friendly, and food was great. We got there around 545 before a 7pm show, waited 20 minutes to be seated. Place was packed and when we left around 645, waiting room was jammed, wait was probably and hour. Highly recommend it, and my daughter loved the food.

Amazing and authentic, but pricey

By Peter Q |

The ramen here is first-rate, and the atmosphere is very cool and authentic. We visited Japan, and it's very similar to the ramen places there. Very pricey, though. We spend over $80 for two for lunch. Bring you wallet, and you'll enjoy.

Entertaining Great Japanese

By Patrick |

Ippudo has traditional food done extremely well served in a fun environment. We sat at the communal table and had a blast watching the kitchen at work and seeing the staff engage customers. The place looks tiny up front and there is always a short wait but the place is actually fairly large and you can get some of the tasty starters in the bar while you wait. And the bar isn’t overcrowded so you can easily get served while you wait. Worth the search for sure.

Ramen in Midtown

By Martina Zorzi |

Great ramen in the heart of Midtown. We had the opportunity to try three different ramen, all with excellent flavors and combinations. Be careful, spicy ramen is really for taste lovers 🌶️🌶️🌶️ I recommend going early (before 9am). They brought us the bill and quickly cleared the table to ask us to leave.

Okonomi-yummy

By Libbyly |

When five of us arrived here famished and craving ramen, we were deflated to find there was a 45 minute wait, but then a queue is usually a good sign. As we had heard great things so found a local craft bar and arrived back 45 minutes later to be seated promptly. The menu was varied and reasonably priced with staff advising that one particular starter could easily feed two people. We were thrilled to find Okonimiaki and soft buns on the menu and all had starters and mains as it was too hard to choose. Overall, dinner for 5 to include one drink each came to $174 exclusive of tip. Well worth it given the quality of the food.

THE GIST: Ill-ease from loss of appetite from the obvious cattle mentality your treat customers with generic-for-profit

By Home S |

This review is about the Ippudo east side, trip advisor does not list this particular restaurant so suffice this review to mean Ippudo on Broadway in the east village... THE GIST: Ill-ease from loss of appetite from the obvious cattle mentality your treat customers with generic-for-profit slop There will be apoint very soon into your meal where you genuinely question your feeling of ill-ease coming from either eating too much or from losing your appetite. This could be coming from either the unprofessional use of the "F"-word by the personnel behind the bar counter reverberating around the dining room in plain sight and earshot of customers...or your instincts telling you to leave immediately may be coming from the fact that this place lacks any true "Japanese" sense in any aspect of a dining experience; sight (not one Japanese person working there that I could see anywhere...It's obvious the employees don't even like working their as blase and robotic personalities saturate each employee...this tells one quite a bit if you think a little about the reasons that a Japanese person would not want to work in Ippudo), sound was a cacophony of fake welcoming of patrons that lacked any depth of genuine "welcome", taste the pedantic and generic lack of quality in every single item on that menu, smell the air that reeks of generic-for-profit-lack of quality...and touch the side dish toppings for the ramen such as the pork and spinach and you'll be touching stale toppings that not one Japanese ramen restaurant I have been in while I lived in Japan would ever consider allowing to be a representative of their food. But GO! And spend the $100 for 2 to experience this bogus, cheap rouse yourself...but one thing to think of: The original owner, not knowing where they are eating would never return...And I END with THIS WARNING: Later after dinner you will be walking and you will be left with the remains of a very unsatisfied full feeling.

Just great!!

Just great!! The best ramen in a king long time!! Have tried in several places nothing like this!! Great fast service

The best Ramon in NYC!

By lovetotravel2229 |

The Ramon was amazing! We were greeting with a friendly hello and seated fairly quickly! The food was just scrumptious… truffle fries s special salad and ramon! The best!

Super tasty

By Linda H |

This restaurant is in a kind of basement, not far from the Ed Sullivan Theater. After the show we went here without a reservation and fortunately we just had a place at the bar. The best chicken dish ever eaten! Water is constantly refilled. Prices decent.

Very proud and rude staff

By Saisha |

I heard good reviews about this restaurant in New York so I intended to celebrate my birthday there. My friends are coming from a trip from Wshington , DC so I went there early but there were no line, restaurant not busy at all. I explained to the staff that Im waiting for my friends coming from a trip but they didn't allow me to sit inside instead they asked me to stay outside and wait for the group to be completed in order for me to reserve a table. I was standing there for more than 15 minutes - they did not even offer a chair. I decided to eat without my friends so they let me in and when my mesal just serve my friends arrived. I eat my food quickly and we moved to another place. Its not totally woth it and the ramen were just an average. Very proud rude staff.

Hard Find but worth the Challenge

By James H |

Small Entrance, Only sign is not in English, usually a wait, but well worth it. Don't be put off that you don't get your own table and have to share a space, your personal Bubble is gone. But how quiet can you eat ramen anyway. Food was awesome, Portion size is enough for 2 if you looking for a light lunch.

Great food Rude hosts

By jbachN |

This place is not for party of 4 or more. Waiting 30' on a week day at 5.30pm. Many smaller parties only wait 5' to 10' max. After seeing many couples got seated even they came way after us, I came up to one of the hosts remindin him about us and for answer I got a rude hand gesture and almost shouting at me to ask his colleague. His colleague is not better than him answered me with a scolded tone. Unless you have a lot of times to kill, Avoid this place. There are many other Ramen places in this area.

delicious

By sandrabch |

Excellent! the pork bun delicious, tasty and bread was a sponge. The wonderful, tasty, perfect ramen. The truth highly recommended

Incredible Ramen - Absolutely Loved It!!!

By GGWD |

This is a great restaurant. Ramen was perfectly made, delicious, served quickly with fresh and very tasty ingredients. It is a busy, so expect a wait in prime time. We got there at 4:30 on a Saturday and waited about 10 minutes which was fine - it is worth the wait for quality Ramen. A MUST TRY!!!

Just like in Tokyo.

I ate at the Ippudo in Tokyo which is fantastic.!! This place is just as good. I felt like I was back in Tokyo. I highly recommend this restaurant.

First ramen

I fear I will be ruined forever as my ramen was so excellent. We also had their French fries and that was such a fun bonus. Fast seating and excellent service.

One of my NY favourites

By Matt |

Great evening. Get there early though as they only take walk-in traffic. I tend to prefer sitting at the bar as it provides a better atmosphere and can't recommend the buns, fried chicken, and ramen enough! I also like the sake recommendations based on your liquor preference (I'm a whiskey guy) or general tastes. Staff are friendly and engaging but not annoyingly. Reasonably priced considering this is NY so have rated it with this in mind.

Best Gyoza of my life!

By Gaia Antonia S |

We went for dinner and had as an appetiser the spicy gyoza. DELICIOUS! Then we got the typical ramen and it was really good. A bit overpriced for what it was, but overall very happy. Unfortunately, the gratuity they "force you" to put (minimum 20%) was way too high for the service which was almost non existent since we got our own drinks from the bar and the waiters only brought the dishes to our table. Overall a nice, yet expensive dinner.

Ippudo has good ramen

By MXA70 |

Late lunch on Monday with no wait. The buns were delish. Ramen came quick and it didn’t disappoint. Recommend it

Literally assaulted for not giving tips!

By Zeniti I |

After a nice dinner and 110 usd bill for two, the watrer ran after us while we were leaving the restaurant and claimed that we were stealing them for not leaving a tip. We explained him kindly that we did not want to leave hip a tip, he claimed that the tip was mandatory as this is our first time in usa we were very intimidated by the attitude of the men and finally, we gave up in front of him, he was shouting and people looked at us like we were leaving without paying, we eventually gave him 20 usd tips so he will let us out of the restaurant... Such a shame for us, hopefully we met 5 policeman at the corner of the street they confirmed us that tipping is not mandatory... Eventually they told us that they have taken advantage of us because we were tourists..

Outstanding!

By TipperNC |

Just ate at Ippudo branch on 51st and it was fantastic. I had the spicy version of the standard ramen as well as the tori karaage (fried chicken) and both were really good. The chicken was super flavorful (it’s apparently marinated in sake) and it was served magma hot. The ramen broth was tasty but probably could have used a little more spice (which is an option), but it was good nevertheless. Highly recommend a second helping of noodles for just $2 so don’t slurp down all the yummy broth with the first set of noodles! I was dining solo during a business trip and found sitting at the u-shaped communal table to be a little weird - you can’t help but make awkward eye contact with the people sitting directly across from you as you slurp down your noodles. Could be intimidating for someone who hasn’t really mastered chopsticks. I arrived right at 5pm as they opened and was seated immediately but by the time I left the place was pretty well full so get there early or be prepared to wait. And I was not the only one eating alone, there were several other single men and women around the table so don’t let that stop you from coming.

Food okay, Service - absent.

By BD34786 |

Food is decent, nothing special. A little bit pricey for the portion. The service /hospitality are non existent. They could not care any less. The service is no better than McDonalds. And one of my pet peeves, you have to scan a QR code to see a menu. For godsakes, part with a buck and print a menu! A restaurant is a place phones should be put away. Not to mention, the menu is hard to read on a phone. Clever NO! Stupid YES! Probably would not go back, there are a LOT of good ramen shops in the city that offer much better service.

If you go to NYC, don't miss it!

Excellent experience! Every time we go to NYC we visit it. The ramen is unmissable! Make your reservation in advance, because it is so good that it is always full. Excellent service and atmosphere too

Pretty good ramen

By Melanie T |

After saying 'yes' to the dress (WAHOO!), Mom and I needed a lunch spot in the area. She loves ramen, so I wanted her to try Ippudo. It was still pretty crowded for a Sunday at 2:30. My mom had the Akamaru Modern (The original silky "tonkotsu" (pork) soup noodles topped with ippudo's secret "umami dama" miso paste, pork chashu, cabbage, sesame kikurage mushrooms, scallions, and fragrant garlic oil). I went with the special, the Miso Akamaru Ramen (tonktosu pork soup mixed with 3 kinds of Japanese miso, sliced pork chashu, sansho minced pork, scallion, thinly sliced leeks, Akamiso paste, and garlic oil. The broth was a bit salty for my taste, but everything else was good. We weren't going to get any starters but then we saw someone get the chicken karaage, and couldn't resist. I'm glad we did because it came out perfect - piping hot and tender. My only gripe was that they don't offer takeout, so we couldn't even get the leftovers to go. We had to force ourselves to eat some extra chicken, which I guess isn't the worst thing in the world. Also, our waitress definitely paid no attention to us. Overall, a solid spot for ramen!

Nice Ramen

By Christian E |

You don’t book a table here so be prepared to wait 30-90 minutes for a table! A nice restaurant but slightly too ”touristly” for my taste, starters ok but not the extra... Ramens very good with nice broth! Try their own Brooklyn IPA that is rather nice! Be prepared to get introduced in japanese to the rest of the restaurant when you are brought to your table:)

Not Authentic

By Bossanovalover222 |

Not authentic. Not for a real ramen lover. What’s happened to IPPUDO? It used to be good. Totally changed. It’s not the place to experience real Japanese ramen.

Delicious and quick meal

By bobbyripe |

Very enjoyable meal. We shared about 6 different plates and were all very good. The service was friendly and efficient, although a little too quick; they definitely do not want you to linger. The place is looking rundown; needs to be spruced up.

Great!

By jacxie15 |

We came here for a quick lunch. The place was clean, service was fast and food was delicious! I could go for another round! Only downfall is that they only take cash.

Good place for Ramen in NYC

This place was suggested to us by a server at another restaurant and we're glad we tried it. Food was good, service fast. I think there is a minimum $, though the place isn't too over the top expensive. I would go again!

Top ramen shop

By Catalaq |

A busy $$$$ ramen shop with a buzzy atmosphere. Attentive staff. Hip decore. Always a wait. Always a delight. Pork buns rock. Solid ramen choices with extras that pile on the price. My favorite hand made noodles with good - but not exceptional - broth.

Great food!

By Umami Wanderlist |

Love the pork bun! Ramen always tastes good. Takoyaki was good too but can add a bit more octopus. Cocktail is a bit on the small side though. Best to go during lunch time so there's less crowd.

Tasty ramen

By CentralCATraveler |

Came here for lunch on a Sunday and was able to get a seat at their bar seating with no waiting. The ramen was very good and the chasu had nice flavor. Decent prices and good service.

Lovely cheerful atmosphere and team.

By Chris Q |

Rushing for a Broadway play n as it was a wet spring day, my wife opted for ramen. Glad to have experience - cheerful team greeting and serving. Their signature dishes were very enjoyable. Also tried their seasonal ramen with wasabi. Good good and banter. Nice bar too. Had a beer while waiting for table.

Tastes like Ippudo NY with less of a wait

By HappyB414 |

This was my second time at Ippudo Westside and we went from waiting 1.5 hours on a Saturday night in November last year to no wait (with a handful of tables left in the dining room) after 1pm on a Thursday afternoon this October. Earlier in the week, we waited about 15 minutes on Monday after 3pm at Ippudo NY (I really wanted to see if the original location tasted better) and found that both taste the same. Most people probably want to try the original, so I imagine your wait there is always going to be worse. Also, Ippudo NY appeared a bit smaller to me, so that could contribute to the wait as well. I’m not a ramen connoisseur, but I do love ramen and I’ve had my fair share of spicy ramen options at some of the top rated places in SoCal. I must say that although Ippudo’s Karaka-Men (spicy version of their original Tonkotsu broth) is expensive for ramen, it’s worth it if you’re visiting NYC. I still vote it the best ramen I’ve ever had. I highly recommend getting it with the Nitamago (softboiled egg), although this time, I saved my stomach for extra noodles instead ($2). The extra noodles will water down your broth once you add it, so do it at the end if you still have extra soup and are still craving a bit more ramen. (My mom added the noodles early on and she found the broth to be bland, whereas I didn’t have that problem.) Ippudo only gives you enough noodles that leaves you craving for more, so it’s a cheap option to add more noodles at the end. Although Ippudo lives up to the hype, unless you are a drinker and can kill time that way, it’s much more worth it to eat at either Ippudo on a weekday to avoid the insane wait.

Amazing, tasty, great atmosphere

Amazing ramen place with delicious dishes and perfect atmosphere. We had the chicken buns, chicken ramen, vegetarian ramen and deep fried desert. All were amazing and very tasty. The atmosphere in this place is incredible, too.

Delicious

This place is amazing! My boyfriend and I both agreed this one was of our favorite meals on our New York trip (we ate the entire time and are big foodies!). We both got the spicy ramen with pork, he got straight noodles and I got the wavy. I tried both and the wavy is the way to go in my opinion. Delicious!
