Jazz joint in Manhattan

By Israel E |

Good music and nice food in midtown Manhattan. Very lovely ambiance. The singer performed the night we were there was GOOOD!

Tangiers Blues band ! Fantastic !

By Sara N |

Fantastic jazz night in this tiny club under the pavements of Broadway . Really enjoyed the night with a cracking band. Blues cool with the most amazing musicians . Food was ok but the atmosphere was great. Really worry visiting and supporting local talent .. Great stuff

Spectacular !

By Joseph C |

The Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway and W.51st is an excellent venue for big and small acts alike.. Names from Page and Plant to Sir Paul and Ringo have all played at the house Les Paul built. The menus range from fillets to chicken to ribs & Burgers to even seafood/Salad with Beers and ales to cocktails and wines make this an enjoyable experience. Go to the clubs website for show information and tickets. Reservations are a must.

Great Venue for Music..and food

By RicardoCub |

We bought tickets to see both show last Saturday, since one of our absolute favorite guitar players was in town. The place was packed but we had preferred sitting and we were close to the stage. The sound was very good, specially on the second show. The food is nice, well made, and the service is very fast and attentive. If you want to see a good artist in a great venue, Iridium is the place!

Lovely intimate setting for great music

By Steve A |

This was a last minute adventure that I'm so happy I took, saw Stanley Jordon just killing it on guitar with his unique tapping style.... and playing guitar and piano at the same time, unreal! The venue is tiny, acoustic great and very intimate. I had dinner, which was adequate and what would be expected in a jazz club. The service was very attentive and timed food distribution perfectly with the set. It doesn't really matter who is performing, you have to check this place out.

Cool jazz and cocktails, New York Style

By TCinTheBigCity |

An intimate, old school-type Jazz club in the Broadway Theatre District that speaks of 'cool'. A visually appealing venue for an adult date. Enjoy a couple of cocktails, a little romance and Jazz, New York Style. They book established and up-and-coming musicians, on our date, a completely engaging evening out.

Great Jazz Club

By AlwaysRoadRunning |

Small and cozy. Table seating. Great atmosphere. Band was great! Drinks and service were good. Food looked very good.

Awesome place for dessert, drinks, and music

By ebednar |

We've been here twice now, 2 years apart, and both times were fantastic! The live music is great. The dessert is delicious, and the atmosphere is great for enjoying the entertainment. Be sure to ask for the wine list- it's much cheaper to buy by the bottle here than by the glass.

Don't miss it.

By LarryMichigan |

We have visited NYC three times in two years and have gone to the Iridium Jazz Club each time. Great music and a great value.

Good Jazz!

By milktray |

Very intimate venue on Broadway, not that comfortable but close to band, very good sound system and friendly staff.

Probably our favourite (sorry favorite) NY venue

By ErnestoGravelPond |

Went for the second time recently (September) having been once before on a previous NY visit a few years back. The first time around we saw Stanley Jordan who we were familiar with and the club was pretty much full. Great food and also great atmospher as it is such a small venue. This time we took a bit of a punt and saw a quartet we didn't know at all. The clubs was also probably not even half full (at least for the first set) so not much atmosphere. Unfortunately though the band were very good it wasn't quite our cup of tea. We probably could have had one but stuck to vino and a cocktail. The cocktail list is quite adventurous. I tried the "are you experienced?" made with Hendricks gin. OK but too sweet. Can't remember the names of the others. Main courses food-wise were ok but not wonderful - Mrs G had a pasta dish and I went for a steak which was ok at the time but I wasn't very well overnight though possibly coincidence. Will try to coincide next NY trip with an act at Iridium we especially want to see. Had hoped to see Royal Southern Brotherhood but got the dates wrong as they were on in August, not September.

Howard Jones Storyteller Concert

By Scott M |

The bison sliders were fantastic! And Raul the head pastry chef took his time to spend with us at our table, as we praised him for his desserts! The performance from Howard Jones was absolutely amazing! ! The only negative was that the restrooms were tiny.

I would go back again and again!!!!!

By holchick63 |

I went with my daughter and two friends to see Shemika Copeland. What a wonderful experience! She was outstanding and the food was fabulous! Great club to have a nice dinner with friends and enjoy the true essence of jazz and the blues. A little hard to find….right next store to the diner…..a small door that you could miss---Don't you will be pleasantly entertained!

Protocol was impressive

By JDWL |

We saw the June 1st show of Protocol...good show! The Iridium is an iconic NYC venue that has A-level music.

Excellent music. Overpriced.

By leighstav |

The music was excellent, but there are excellent jazz joints in Manhattan for much more reasonable price.

Something a little different in Times Square area

By Jon E |

Three of us met up in Times Square and then started hunting for something to do. Iridium came up here on TripAdvisor so we decided to give it a shot. 'The Ebony Hillbillies' were going to play, but we were a little early and decided to order a full dinner. I went with the filet - not the best steak I've ever had, but not the worst. Combining the dinner and a show made for a good start to the evening.

Historical Jazz Club - Not to be Missed

By trippytourist |

This place is not to be missed if travelling around Manhattan! We were fortunate to have spent a lovely evening here (an just a one minute walk from our hotel!). The menu was so tempting and the food very tasty - well prepared and well presented. The setting is well laid out, with plenty of candle lit tables to enjoy a good meal or a drink. Of course, the music is the main attraction here and that definitely did not disappoint. The five piece gypsy jazz band, from France, that was on stage that night was nothing short of amazing! We had arrived after the band was already on set and, unfortunately, we never did get their name. This moody little club is exactly how I imagine a good jazz club to be - and historical too!

What a wonderful evening!

By NicoleSK |

I don't know where to start. While the space is small they more than make up for it in the music, food and ambiance. Started with the mussels and calamari, the bread HEAVENLY! My honey had the shrimp & pasta dish, and I had the salmon which was crusted perfectly. The roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes rounded out the meal perfectly. I will be back!

June 4, Saturday

Amazing steak night accompanied with art rock! Food well prepared, tasteful & rich looking at the same time. Good job!

Les Paul trio.

By janeharmony |

We went to the iridium on a Monday night. We booked a table the night before. My husband has wanted to see the great guitarist Les Paul since he was a young man. Sadly les died a few years ago but his trio still play. It's a lovely small venue,we sat next to the stage, wonderful. We had dinner, the food was fine . I don't even remember what we eat as the music was the focus. We had the best night of our entire holiday. A night my husband and I will never forget it was almost spiritual. After the gig finished w e met all the band and chatted to them. My husband was introduced to les Paul's son which was an amazing experience .the service was good , prices ok food fine but entertainment outstanding .

What a cool place

By Dale H |

I've been here a few times, saw Les Paul when he used to be there (on Mondays I think it was) Went with my brother last couple times. Music is always good; food mediocre so we drink wine which is also only so-so but after a while who cares?

Very hard to find ..but worth it !.

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

Went to see John Nemeth for my first visit here; he and band did a great show . The challenge is finding the place, which has a poorly marked entry door and the venue is downstairs. Suggestion: Google to Ellen's Stardust Diner, then ask someone at the door. The same people own both places...right next to each other..but diner is easier to find. Very small ..no bad seats..so you don't need to spend more for the premium option. Full bar and food service....excellent staff.

Loved the Jazz

By Ottawa_uhl |

Sat through two shows, cover was cheap. The food was okay not spectacular, the drinks were reasonably priced. The Friday night Jazz was fabulous, small crowd the night I was there so no problem getting in.

Great sound. Guitar room! The food is superbly done for a music venue. Kudos Chef!

By bri9ett |

We visited on a Tuesday night, 8PM show, and had an excellent blues singer for the night. The food is wonderful - started with ravioli (perfectly cooked) and shared orata, filet mignon, and a pasta dish, all were served as if in a fine dining restaurant. Will be back and would definitely recommend!

Best Find!

By Janice J |

This hidden gem was a real bonus to our stay in NYC. Such professionals jamming it up on stage and inviting visiting artists to join them was a feast to your ears. This summed up what NYC was all about for us. Our visit wouldn't have been complete if we hadn't experienced a jazz bar like this. Thank you.

Great Venue for Music

By HuntleyNewYork |

This wonderfully small club puts you front and center with the musicians. We sat at the first table, right next to the the stage. Great view of the player’s craft & talents, though I think the sound would be better a bit further back. And there really isn’t a bad seat in the place. Next time! As for the food, there’s a per person minimum over and above the ticket price, so avail yourself of the convenience of a bite to eat if you’re hungry or if just ringing up bar tab isn’t your thing. It’s nothing special — just classic club food — and consistent price wise with other similar places in NYC. (Tourists who don’t live in major cities will think it’s expensive but NYC area locals won’t).

enjoyable evening

By Sima |

We went there fir the music. The band playing was one my husband wanted to see. We really enjoyed them. We went for the first set of the evening and we were told we could stay for the second set which we did not expect. We had two different appetizers -- cheese plate and salad. I love salads. Did not care for this one. Just lettuce with a little dressing. I went online to refresh my memory and I do not see it any longer. The cheese plate was adequate. I cannot speak of the drinks or entrees.

Hot jazz

By LJHSViking |

We visited Iridium for the Les Paul show and drinks. The music was fine, and then came the add-ons: guest after guest climbed onto the stage and delivered wow performances. The group changed half a dozen times and the music went on for at least an additional hour. A great evening of music.

Toxic Monkey

By Paul B |

Went to the Stardust Diner for breakfast and saw a flyer for the Iridium which is underneath it - it’s a small intimate venue where you really feel part of the show - there have been and no doubt will be many more big names performing - we were treated to some fantastic musicianship from 5 guys who loved their craft!

Super fun experience

By tahrann |

The band was great, but we know that before! The food was excellent too, we had salmon & pasta dishes ( 2 separate dishes) our seating upgrade got us good seats, but i think it was just luck. the venue is small and cozy, we were lucky to have our own table for two which is rare there, most seating is in groups of 8-10. typical for nyc dinner clubs. they could improve on getting the crowd inside, it was a longish wait and very cold outside, and VERY cold inside on the stairs down to the venue.. doors were only an hour before the show, if there were 2 hours the rush could have been spread out and you could eat before the band starts.. Still super fun night, i'd go there again more prepared.

Great Jazz - average food - rude host

By David V |

First of all: Go, our session of Diane schuur was great. BUT, we bought preferred seating, and the website said you should come in time to be able to choose your seat. First the doors go open later, ( why one can't go inside and already have a drink, beats me ... ), then preferred seating means you have to sit where they prefer, not you. When opposing this, " the wicked witch" turned very rude. So buying preferred has not much value. THE FOOD: as you can imagine, if you have to serve close to 100 people in 30 min. ... We had ravioli which was better the you average good airliner. In short I would certainly go back, but stick to drinks ( I think the minimum is 10 $). The atmosphere and setting of stage is really great. Vandermeulen David

A Music Lover's Delight.

By Amir |

Was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Iridium was just next to my hotel, the calendar on the door showed some unbelievable shows in August which made me cry for not staying longer in the city. The door service is very friendly, food's great and the service is awesome. As a guitar player, I sure loved the fact that I ate a burger named "the Les Paul". I attended an awesome show the night I went.

Saw Roy Ayers

By Vee33Mag |

The place has great live jazz and it's tiny so you've always got a great seat. There's a minimum cover no matter what but rest assured that the menu is really solid and the service is professional. It's a tight fit in there...you'll end up sharing with strangers if you are less than a group of 4.

Great for Jazz...

By Leslierapp |

This place is located in the center of Times Square in NYC. It is a great place to listen to live music. However...do yourself a favor and only order wine by the bottle or beer. I'm not sure if it was a terrible bartender or what but the mixed drinks were horrible, as was the wine by the glass. Service was ok and we had just the fried calamari...it was pretty good. I would definitely go back because you go for the music, and I will be smart as to what to order.

Great jazz but eat somewhere else.

By Anne F |

We saw Johnny A and he was great! But the food was just ok. My gnocchi were better than the bolognese but not by much. The wine list isn't bad except they didn't have many ofbthe bottles we requested. We had a not very good champagne followed by sending back a bad bottle of pinot noir and finally getting a pedestrian zinfandel. It's an intimate space and that was great. Just eat somewhere else.

Great Intimate Music Venue

By KevinPenthouse |

Great Intimate Music Venue saw Billy Gibbons Matt Sorum and Austin Hanks blow the fuggin lid off of the place Intimate can be called tiny only 180 people but the sound is killer impressive

Downstairs to Jazz Club

By Jane E |

We saw a 15 piece jazz band. The cover charge was $30 each which seemed a little expensive but we really wanted to have the experience so we paid. You can pay at the end of the set. There was 2 sets of which if they werent too busy we could have stayed and paid a reduced cover but we didnt. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The evening went very quick. Lots of different characters go. Great for people watching aswell

Hidden Gem!

By goodtwogo |

Stumbled upon Iridium, which is at 51st and 7th. We were there for a Monday night, which featured the Les Paul trio. Incredible blues guitar. Somewhat spartan interior, but very attentive wait staff. If you are looking for a nice break from the high end shows give this place a try.

Great show

By Molnar71 |

We got to watch a show with Stanley Jordan trio. It was great. The atmosphere, sound quality and proximity to the artists is just great. And we had a nice Kobe Burger as well.

An Iconic club with music and good at its best

By Droopydrawrs52 |

We saw Wayne Krantz and Michael Landau last night here First rate evening for good and music well worth going

Great traditional jazz

By Jennifer H |

Heard some great jazz recently on a girls trip to New York - was taken back to an old fashioned jazz club. Comfortable, drinks okay but meals fairly basic, however we were not there for the food!

Shabby treatment: seated with no view of stage & denied seats at empty "reserved" tables

By MisterMetroNYC |

Should've arrived earlier for better seating, but hostess seemed to go out of her way to give us the single worst table in the place in back corner with no view of stage, despite available tables with views of stage. Hostess said they were "reserved," but no one ever sat there (you can see some of the unoccupied "reserved" seats on right side of photo). Food very disappointing, even though I was not expecting much at a jazz club. Ordered a kale salad for $16 and it was a plate of wilted kale, without much taste. Took a couple of bites and pushed it away. Waiter did not seen to care when clearing my uneaten plate.

Spend your money elsewhere, by Nicole Rovig

By Nicole Rovig |

The jazz is top notch, always has been. But the food and drink minimums are the only way this restaurant stays in business. It's simply not good. It's easy to feel nickel and dimed here. I recommend hitting a less touristy jazz club. This to me is a tourist trap - you go once and don't return.

Stanley Jordan Show

By ChaseyD |

i arrived late for the show. I did not expect to get in as it was a Saturday night in NYC, but they had room at the bar. I took what I could get and the hostess even gave me a discount to sweeten the deal. The show was absolutely amazing as Stanley Jordan is a genius. The venue was really cool and they took good care of me. I will definitely return for more shows.

All that jazz

By Moni87dk |

Such a great place. I will return when I get back to New York! The atmosphere is one of a kind. The bands coming here are entertaining and fun, and this place is perfect for a night out.

an icon

By Jon E |

just go - you'll enjoy it no matter who plays that night. Drinks are fairly priced. food looked good but i've not tried it

Great!

By Brian D |

We really enjoy going to Iridium to see live music. Not a bad seat in the house and the staff is fantastic.

GREAT CLUB

By AdamL796 |

I had an excellent experience. The manger Chelsea was very helpful. The show and seating were fantastic.

Good music and correct meal

By Monpetit |

Easy to find on times square, Correct meal-the steak was excellent and also the caesar... Special dessert depending of the artits . I take a strawberry cake in "honor" of Molly Ringwald: excellent show... Nice cocktails.

Excellent!👍👍

By mm__j__ww |

It can be a bit of a wait to get in for the late show, but once yer in, they take care of you nicely. Extensive wine list, and some very tasty eats! I highly recommend the Reuben, and also the Granny Smith hard cider...

Great original Jazz!

By Claude R |

This is the first time I had gone to the new venue of the Iridium since it had moved from the Lincoln Center. Unfortunately, compared to the old venue, where we spent quite a few hours listening to Jazz, this one was a bit disappointing. Whilst the food was good, the atmosphere was not as exciting and jazzy as I had remembered the previous one in the 1990s. The venue was only about 1/3 full at best. The Jazz set we heard, however, was very good and not plastic like so many jazz sets have progressively become. Be careful with the bill: they automatically put a 20% tip on your food bill regardless of how good or poor was the service. So I give it 4**** for music and 3*** for venue and restaurant.

Great Music

By Dee J |

Had a great time at Iridium. In NYC for business great way to end the week. Good food. The band, can't remember the name but would go back again.

Great little club on Broadway

By Trudi A |

saw Patrick DeGennaro play, he was excellent. There is a $25 cover charge to get in. You may have a meal there, we chose not to so I can't review the food.

The singing wait staff were very entertaining

By Talyoung03 |

We were a large tour group. The food was very hot and fresh. The wait staff seemed to be having fun as they sang their way through the courses. I would love to hear the jazz performers.-

Great Place in Times Square

By Thomas K |

My wife and reserved two tickets for Saturday night's 8pm show. We had never been there before. We located it easily in the center of Time Square area and were directed to the basement. It shares the building with Stardust Diner on the first floor. The place is really cool. The staff very friendly. There was a $15 per person minimum in addition to the music charge, but really not a major deal if you ave something to east (we did not) or a couple drinks, which we did. The sound was excellent and all in all a very enjoyable evening. There were a ton of young college or even high school kids in the place but that was not an issue. They were obviously not being served alcohol so the place was responsible. They were there for the show as well and I'm sure they also enjoyed it. The tables are a bit tight but however. We will definitely return for future shows. My wife and I both loved it.

The calm in the eye of the storm

By Robin G |

Iridium is set in the heart of Times Square, with all the hustle bustle, rip off tourist activity going on around this Jazz club is a calm little place offering the best of Blues, Jazz, jazz rock and fusion to be had in the big apple. Ive had many a great evening over a few beers and great value food. The place ooozies atmosphere in this dimly lit basement bar. Be sure to book in advance as it sells out quickly.

Les paul,s Memorial

By clearbeer |

Been here more times than I can count. Even now after the sad loss of LES PAUL , the club is still one of the best music venues in the world. His trio continues , with guest musicians providing a great "buzz" still. Jeff Beck was a real hit and so was the drummer Chambers. Some of the groups there number more than 10 people which makes the stage look crowded but does not affect the quality of the music, oh, and Les Paul's blonde bombshell bassist Nikki Parrot still plays with the trio. Food and beer is served quickly and is of good quality.

Great way to start our vacation

By jbfed |

The food was really good as well as the entertainment. We made reservations online ahead of time and arrived shortly after 7:30 when the doors open to get a great seat and view. I will be back next time I am in New York.

Coolest of the Cool

By MBORQUAYE |

The music, the service, the food- It is the best-what else can I say. I am disabled, I use a walker and couldn't navigate the stairs. I was taken to a side door, put on an elevator and escorted through the dressing rooms to a front table. What a blast I had. It was the best jazz ever. It is the hottest jazz club in New York and I'm an old-time jazz lover.

"Out Of Sight!"

By Joseph C |

If any Jazz or Blues club you visit in Msnhatten.. Make it the Iridium. Located under Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway in the Theater district. The Hose that Les Paul built hosts some of the greatest names in music history from Page and Plant to Herbie Hancock to BB King To Buddy Guy and hundreds more. The hottest shows in town from famous names afore mentioned down to aspiring artists will be playing here.

Jazz on Broadway...a little schmaltzy but fun!

By dmarcin |

We had the delight of attending Molly Ringwald's concert at the Iridium, and must say she was a delightful surprise! No complaints, a great concert and a great voice. Molly Ringwald a jazz singer - Who knew? The room was a little bit Broadway tacky, but the sound was great and there were no bad seats. We bought a very affordable bottle of wine from a nice selection, and enjoyed the "Pretty in Pink cake" made in Molly's honor that evening - delicious and pretty to look at! The prices were reasonable, and by the look of those around us, the food looked delicious. For a jazz club, the Iridium is a bit too Broadway-ish, but Molly more than made up for that. We'll be watching the schedule and will be back.

Expected the music to be great, the surprise is the quality from the kitchen

By 0591TimS |

This was our second visit to Iridium. Last time was two years ago and we went to the 10pm show and really enjoyed the music and the meal. This time we went at 8pm and again the show was great, but this earlier set is quite a bit shorter than the later slot. Once again the food was excellent. We were a party of five and all our selections were good. I'd characterize the menu as Italian influenced American. Among our choices we had the fish special (Skate), veal, chicken, steak - all were enjoyed. The wine list is good and reasonably priced. Next time I think we'll go for the later show and see more music and be more relaxed about leaving. Two years ago we hung out after the show with some of the musicians. Not possible when there's a second set scheduled after the early show.

Poor service, poorer food, nice drinks

By Dado_de_Castro |

When we arrived we got to wait for their decision on where to seat us. Service took a long time to get to us. Wifi not working. The drinks were nice but the food was awful and everything was pricy! Do not recommend.

Nicest music venue in Midtown

By ken s |

Super classy place with big wine list and very cool guitars hanging all over the room. Comfortable and great sound system. We had the cheese and air dried meats platter and this was really excellent. My wife had the chicken under the brick which is a perfect rendition of the classic Italian dish, crisply and flattened with fresh herbs. I had a perfectly cooked steak and we both shared a scrumptous cheesecake. Perfect ambiance and world class place with top flight service. Will definitely come back next time I'm looking for a great show. The manager Thomaz is very charming and helpful and works the room like a professional.

Amazing Jazz Club!

By Connector232653 |

The place has great atmosphere and we especially liked the seating arrangement. We got really great seats but I think where ever you sat you’d get a good view of the band. The food was enjoyable, we ordered the coconut shrimp and fish tacos. Seems to be a place for locals which we appreciated.
