This is a popular spot but it feels like a hidden gem. The decor is low key and the seats and booths are comfy. It gets the vibe of a real Japanese Izakaya. The food is amazing. The small plates are awesome and size/portioned so you want to try them all. The grilled pork belly and lightly salted baby asparagus spears are heavenly. Really anything on the Yakitori menu is my cup of tea. Grilled skewers of food are the best. The beer selections is stellar and the sake and others are really good for the neighborhood. They use a lot of locally sourced ingredients like pork from the Berkshires and organic veggies from the Hudson Valley which is really important. The wait staff are attentive but not to clingy and are always happy to answer questions for those who are less brave about various Japanese delicacies. I'd say its great for families but its really best for friends and date night as the ambience fits that best. I really can't say enough nice things about this place because we went there right before heading to Japan for a two week trip. Now we go back all the time because we loved Japan so much and this place fills that need locally.

We had tried several places before we could get a table at this one, and were we lucky! Food and service were excellent. We were squeezed in before someone else's reservation, but they never made us feel rushed. The food was delicious and the drinks were great as well.

This place has great food and ambience. Our waitress helped squeeze us in with an extra chair and we enjoyed a great dinner.

Tried a range of dishes, from the short rib skewer, to chicken thigh skewer, chicken skin skewer, fried oysters, and kimchee. The kimchee was some of the best I've had (although not Japanese, who cares, because it was great!). Crisp and fresh tasting. The short rib was rich and flavorful, perfectly cooked, and not too chewy (given it is a short rib). The chicken skewers were all grilled to moist perfection, and the tempura fried oysters were well executed with a crispy crust which was not greasy. The sake collection is impressive, although I did not partake and had oolong tea which was surprisingly great tea. The service was so-so. Not real friendly, but acceptably attentive. Its entertaining watching the chefs prepare the food from the open kitchen - lots of care seems to be taken. Also, pretty neat layout of the interior with an attractive cozy darkness with brick motif -- comfortable. This place can get really pricey, because the items are all small but really tasty - so it becomes difficult to not keep ordering. The bill racks up fast, but with such tasty bites that's less troublesome.

How many times have we walked passed and never noticed this Japanese restaurant. Finally got round to eating there this week and were pleasantly surprised. Very fresh excellent sushi. My fish udon hot pot was strange and I wouldn't have it again but the eel rolls were outstanding. Interesting menu.

Since it was close to Halloween some of the staff were dressed up. Wide variety of selections that were tasty. The tempura was delicious, as well as the grilled fare. Want to try other dishes as the saba and he hot pot.

We came here with clients who'd never experienced an Izakaya before. The food, from the skewers to the sushi to the noodles were uniformly very good. Service was attentive. All in all we enjoyed our experience here and would return

An absolute find in New York. Amazing food, really friendly service and most unusually great value for this tourist area of NYC. Visited last year as a couple and again this year with our kids who loved it. Squid is a must order.

We enjoyed this authentic feeling Japanese pub with a laid back atmosphere. The sushi, edamame, and gyoza were all good. I'd recommend it!

We were really impressed and enjoyed a fantastic dinner. The place has a great vibe and is authentic top to bottom. Everything is fresh and flavorful, and the variety of menu choices is great. Great, helpful service as well.

This is a great hideaway in busy Manhattan. The space is long and narrow featuring warm wood booths and decorative bottles of sake throughout. Menu is extensive and the food was fresh and delicious.

Our group went to this Izakaya for dinner. The service was great and the venue was nice. We ordered Assorted tempura, tako wasabi, Maguro tataki, Godzilla roll, clam hotpot, 2 sticks of chicken teriyaki and sake. It costed 50 usd per person incl. tips. Though quite expensive, all the food was fresh and delicious.

I love places like this, traditional Japanese restaurant. Food has excellent quality, the grilled squid was amaizing, cherry bacon tomatos are my favourite. They have small dumplings (with another name, just ask the waiter) done in perfection. To drink, you can find sake bootles in a good price and asahi beer :)

Awsome quick kitchen and excellent food, very nice and helpful staff sums up as a very nice evening experience!

Always a great experience, quiet place, friendly staff, sushi and draft sake make a superbe meal with your lover.

The food at Izakaya is so fantastic, you really won't be sorry you dined here. Every time I have gone, it's been great for me no matter if I am alone or with a big crowd. The fish was so fresh, the service is fine. You can either grab a drink and a light appetizer or have an amazing meal.

Get a seat at the bar if you can and watch the chef's at the grill. Spicy salmon sushi roll, chicken balls, chicken skin skewers and pork belly skewers particularly good. Great service and friendly staff, highly recommend.

Authentic izakaya that offers a wide selection of drinks with affordable snacks and small dishes. We shared a sushi roll, okonomiyaki, and some deep fried chicken gizzard which were all good. With drinks our bill was only $62.

Had a great time here sharing small plates and hot pot. Came on a Saturday night without a reservation and had a 30-ish minute wait for 3 people. The food was great and came out timely, also was reasonably priced for NY! Service was super friendly and attentive, never went without drink if we wanted one. If you're interested in small plates, definitely order the yakitori (skewers). If you're there towards the end of the night, they might run out of some of the more popular ones, though. We also got the oden hot pot which was super tasty.

Enjoyed the okonomiyaki and several different rolls. Absolutely nothing to complain about. The service was prompt and very polite. The food come out when ready, not all at once (which we enjoyed because we could slowly sample everything). All in all a great place to eat!

The restaurant is nice. One menu for lunch, another one for dinner. The food is great, and really cheap! The only thing I regret is lthe lack of choice of meatless items, at least for lunch. The red bean ice cream, it's awesome!

We had dinner here before we went to (the Museum of Sex). We loved the atmosphere, and layout. The food was amazing and the prices were fair and exceptional service!

it is not my first time at this restaurant and since i have discovered it i have returned here again and again. i am often in nyc for work, but there is no time i skip a visit or two chez izakaya nomad :-) skewers is my favourite and the clam soup is soo good to share, the tuna tataki so tasteful, gyoza and edamame always to start, i am trying something new everytime but the faves are the veal tongue and chicken gizzard skewers. recommended with a good sake, from the incredible selection.

This place had a good atmosphere with good music and food especially the beef prime with yuzu. The sauce was delicious!!!!

We had the ichiban beers and a Godzilla roll with gyoza. We weren’t impressed with the food. The service was good. The atmosphere felt like a watering hole that serves food too. Cool if that’s what you are looking for. Probably can find better sushi elsewhere.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. It was packed, but our food was served very quickly. BUT: - Our tuna didn't have very good texture and was a bit soft. - Tempura prawn was the biggest disappointment. I can't believe this is tempura from a Japanese restaurant. The batter was thick and heavy. Prawn was way overcooked. I wouldn't pay $15 for those 5 terrible "deep fried" prawns. - Udon hot pot with fish cakes was weird. I didn't know what I was served in the pot. It had a lot of stuff in different shapes and colours in there but tasted almost the same. I wasn't sure abut what I was eating. Not enjoyable at all. Told the waitress about the "tempura" prawns and she said sorry and will let the chef knows. That's it. It was a very disappointing dinner. And not cheap. I would never ever eat in there again.

Ate a ton here for not very much money. Lots of neat skewers, entrees, appetizers, sushi, sashimi etc. Everything was tasty and the service was much better than the usual Korean or Chinese restaurant (owners are Korean as are most of the servers), both attentive and friendly (a rarity in Korean restaurants). I didn't think the sushi was all that great (spicy tuna was minced into a paste which is a pet peeve of mine) and the menu would be perfect with the addition of some noodle bowls, ramen etc. Maybe some fried rice too. It was a nice setting, small, Asian zen decor, cool bathroom and communal bathroom sink. I would eat here again.

Great food & Romantic interior inside I will always come back here if I am nearby. Nice hot food dishes for real cold winters in NYC. I am looking forward for coming new dishes.

All of what was served was perfect. The yakitori was spicy and had wide span of options. The desert is limited to icecreem

Great food in a friendly Izakaya. I can imagine it gets busy, so worth booking if you are a group. Sushi is good, although the uni was a bit expensive. The charcoal grill is fantastic, and provides great theater if you sit at the bar watching the guys cooking. The chicken hearts and liver are a revelation

I've only eaten here during lunch because it's close to my office, and they are accommodating to solo diners. I always get the same thing, chicken katsu. It is thinly pounded, well seasoned white meat breaded in panko. It is so delicious, and I get major cravings for it. It comes with a very small salad dressed with yuzu, and a small bowl of miso soup. Those 2 are served almost as soon as you are seated. The katsu arrives on a sort of wired platform sat on one side of a large rectangular plate. The other side comes with shredded cabbage topped with thousand island dressing, and a dome of white rice. It's a lot of food, and quite filling. Very satisfying on a chilly day. The service is friendly enough, if not a little noisy. It's a popular spot so I try to get there before 1pm which is when a line sometimes forms. But even then, I've never had to wait too long for a table.

This place is Amazing. We flew into the city on a Friday night, after checking into our hotel we started walking and found this great spot. While we managed to get in on the fly but reservations are strongly recommended the restaurant was packed. We love Asian cuisine and its our go to when we travel. You know its going to be good when your the only non-asians in the place. Beer wine and sake only, but thats ok. Make sure to try the Octopus !

This small restaurant is a hidden gem in the Flatiron area. The food is outstanding and service is good, with a very inviting ambiance. We came here at around 6:00 on a Saturday without a reservation and were still able to sit at the bar. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and nicely plated. Some of the food highlights include the Spicy chicken meatballs, grilled squid and Hamachi Tataki (seared tuna). My only recommendation is that you make a reservation!

great atmosphere and an awesome staff, had an amaze night out w friends. perf place for sake & menu looked great too, will try the food next time

They give a free salad and miso soup with every meal. We had a delay on the service of our food so without being asked were given free beers for the delay - nice touch. It's not a big place, you should book in advance. All the food was great.

Found the place by pure luck. Nice design, interesting crowd of all ages and reasonably priced. Nice menu with enough options to choose from. Friendly people. Loved the tempura and the meat cuts.

Happened to be in the neighbourhood and looked on trip advisor for a nearby good restaurant and ended up at Izakaya NoMad. It was myself and a colleague and this was the perfect place. It is a small cosy, but not romantic, restaurant that felt trendy and fresh. Dimmed lighting, small tables, buzzing atmosphere. The food, Asian and sushi was fantastic. Unfortunately the service was a little too laid back and my coke was completely flat but other than that, fantastic!

We ordered sushi and after 40mins waiting the waiter told us that sushi was not more available.. We are in a sushi restaurant. It sounds absolutely strange! High expectations, bad results!

Sat in the section on the street but still received attentive service. The menu included a wide range of choices and the seafood items were judged as excellent. The non fish, non seafood items were good but not special . They should add hot drinks such as green tea or jasmine tea to their offerings

At this place, you do not need to make a reservation. Quick service and nice food. Great place to have a light drink with an appetizer.

This restaurant offers the equivalent of Japanese tapas. Order plenty of dishes as yakitori comes as single skewers. Dishes are delivered to the table when cooked, so it can be haphazard. We found the food hot, fresh and tasty. Extensive drink selection is also on offer. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. For a relaxed meal with friends this is a great place.

Was here on a weekday evening, place was crowded but managed to find a seat at the bar (right in front of Yakitori station). The atmosphere is cosy and the service prompt - menu is extensive and I really like the fact they have real yakitori with good izakay dishes. The grilling was done by a single guy and can really tell the effort he puts into making sure the yakitori is done right. Ordered a combination of different dishes - octopus salad (very good, the octopus was thinly sliced and has a good texture, only complaint was that the dressing is on the sweet side), various yakitori (a little too salty) and grilled hamachi (perfect - seared on outside, slightly rare on the inside). Will definitely come back if in area. Nice neighborhood.

Looking at the other reviews, people know what they are talking about. We were trying to find a place to eat after a late theater performance and happened upon this place which serves until 2 am. We were seated at the bar as the only choice but as the bar is covered with Saki bottles, one cannot look into the grill area. The Shumai Shrimp was outstanding as was the Fried Oysters which was very surprising. Beer selections were outstanding. Pricing was fair Service was good. A nice place, again yet another NYC treasure.

You should definitely take the godzilla! We also tool the spicy salmon which was very tasty! The service was rapid and the personnel was very nice. Good quality/price ratio.

Fun energetic izakaya. We had soup and sushi but loved the tempura! Good service. Definitely a place we'll revisit.

We were craving izakaya food and this place satisfied our craving! Our favorites were the chicken skin skewer and hamachi tataki. Service was excellent and very attentive!

Amazing food, great service. We ordered sushi roll, they were spectacular delicious. The Korean barbecue was delicious and the tempura purple sweet potatoes was amazing. VERY RECOMMENDED!!!!

We live in the neighborhood and there are several other sushi restaurants within a few blocks walking....this is our favorite. Nice atmosphere delicious sushi (try the Mina and Moko rolls) and the staff is pleasant and attentive. Also for those looking for Saki.. Quite a selection at all price points.

I stumbled across this place accidentally and I'm so glad I did. The fish tasted as if it had just been taken from the ocean, and the kimchi is as authentic as I've tasted since my sister's Korean mother-in-law had it at Christmas. This is a hidden gem in the Flatiron district. Give it a go!

They do a really great job at this joint. Friendly, and the food's tasty and fun. I lived in Japan and have a soft-spot for robata (grill) and this place does it well. Their sushi and other things are tasty too.

This restaurant was exceptional and really exceeded my expectations. The dishes were unique in presentation and flavor. Such care to bring fresh, innovative dishes in a tapas style. We were so excited to find this gem!

This is a restaurant that you could easily find in Japan. Lots of Saki bottles, drums cozy wooden booths, and a lot of variations on a theme. The rice bowl dishes (fish, vegetable or beef) -- spicy or with soy -- were all good. The restaurant is quiet and it is a nice place to have a conversation.

Had dinner here with a group of 5. Had to wait about 15 minutes on a Thursday night. Seems to be run by Koreans, so that would explain kimchi on the menu, which was good. They had sushi and a variety of skewers including gizzards. Also had veggies such as grilled avocado. I had a tuna sushi/sashimi plate for $21 which was a good deal. They had sake, soju, and plum wine. They were out of the green tea mochi that night. Good amount of food, reasonable prices, fast service.

I love Izakaya Nomad - I can't believe it was down the street, all this time. This is the best Yakitori I have found outside of London. The flavors are perfect; just enough salt to pull out the natural goodness of the vegetables and seasoned meat, and the grill on it is just right. Check out the plates to share - the Hamachi Tataki is a work of art, and you'll never have finer. The sake selection is plentiful as well, with detailed tasting notes to help you decide. And I can't end my review without mentioning the servers, who are unfailingly kind and polite. Go here. Seriously.

Trip Advisor was painfully not showing the right type of places to have dinner in while I stayed in Chelsea. One example was the Izakaya which would not show on the app. Walking by I however thought the atmosphere looked great and I was not disappointed. We started wig raw squid marinated in wasabi. Absolutely fantastic. Then we shared a hot pot of fish in a vegetable broth. Again a wonderful and tasty dish. It felt like I was back in Tokyo. Finally the price tag was quite reasonable for such a good restaurant in such a touristy location. I would go back in a heart beat !

New York doesn't lack for Japanese food of many kinds...Izakaya's allow you the chance to sample many taste treats and feel like you have entered Tokyo. Prices are reasonable and the price point is fair! Izakaya Nomad offers you a visit to underground Tokyo with out the plane ride. Enjoy

Great little Japanese spot right near the James Nomad. Service is attentive and it’s a really chill atmosphere. All the yakitoris we got tasted great but they’re pretty small. The sushi rolls were good, but not amazing. If you want a solid restaurant then don’t hesitate and just go check this place out.

Four of us ate here during a visit to New York last month. We had dropped by in the afternoon to reserve a table for later that evening which was a wise move as the restaurant was packed and it is not very big. Tables are small and the noise level is pretty high but that did not deter from a fun evening. Other than the Prime Beef Tataki (which we found bland) and the hamachi grilled Yellow Tail (which was tasty but full of bones), we enjoyed all the dishes we ordered: grilled edamame, assorted vegetable tempura, Golden roll (salmon, cucumber, avocado, etc.), short ribs, shumai shrimp dumplings. Our mistake, however, was ordering all the food at once. We thought several plates would be served at a time followed by others but the food basically all came to the table at once and within a very short period of our order being taken. As a result, we felt rushed and the table was inundated with plates of food. When we return, we will order only a few plates at a time. We enjoyed a bottle of inexpensive Cabernet Sauvignon Man Vintners priced at $35.00 Total for the four of us came to just over $200. including tax & tip.

I've been to Japan a great many times and this place really cooks up great traditional Japanese food with a twist. Service is nice and friendly, food is good - I can only recommend it. I'll be back.

I have been to NYC 10 times for business in the past year. The first time I went I ran across this hole in the wall restaurant. You can easily miss it if you don't know where you are going. Anyway the sushi and especially the skewers were AMAZING! The short rib, meatball, pork belly, and even the beef tongue were so good. I had never thought i would ever try beef tongue but I did and I did not regret it. The sushi was very fresh and very good. Probably the best sushi I have ever had. But being from Kansas I probably don't have a lot to really compare it to. haha! The staff is friendly and fast. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone who is in or near the flatiron district. Keep in mind though that if you want the skewers go for dinner. They don't make them for lunch.

Our party of three visited for dinner. Our son, who had previously visited, took the lead to order a range of the grilled "tapas-like" dishes for us to share. We share a total of eight different dishes and all were excellent - although we over did it with the quantity of food received. The bacon wrapped brussel sprouts were particularly good. The menu also offered a wide range of Japanese beverages. The restaurant is dark, long and narrow with a "sushi style" bar which gives it a cosy feel. Our waiter was quite attentive and helpful. In all, we had a wonderful dinner.

I am usually a pretty boring eater, not so adventurous but with my daughter who will try anything had a great interesting meal. The service was fantastic, the food presentation was beautiful. We ordered this Japanese veggie pancake which came with fish flakes that were dancing, it was very cool. The picture doesn't capture the dance but we were full and brought the rest back to the hotel.

I had the pleasure of eating at this place a few days ago. My cousin and I were looking for a yummy place to eat, and we just happened to see Izakaya Nomad from the street. After asking the people outside if the food was good (“Oh man, it’s amazing!), we decided to give this place a go. Let me tell you, we positively delighted by our experience. The place was slammed on a Thursday night, but we were able to immediately get seated at the bar. I like transformative feel of this place. We really did feel like we were whisked away to a small little bar in the heart of a Japanese city. The restaurant itself was very narrow. Basically, the customers are squeezed onto one side, and the kitchen was on the other side, separated by the bar (which were were sitting at) and a wall of empty Japanese liquor bottles. It just goes along with the street feel of the place, so I totally went with the vibe. One perk of sitting at the bar: the smells of all the amazing dishes! Oh man, everything smelled so good. Our mouths were drooling just from sitting down and sniffing the air. Despite the small restaurant, the menu is quite extensive. There is something here for everyone, regardless of a person’s taste for Japanese cuisine. The menu offers small plates, skewers of meat, sushi rolls, and traditional entrees, along with other few surprises and a full list of Japanese beer and liquor. We opted to try a little bit of everything by ordering from the small plate and skewer menu, but I would happily return here for the bigger entrees. Highlights of our meal included the short rib skewer (so succulent the juice was dripping down my neck), the bacon-wrapped asparagus skewer, the purple sweet potato fries (crazy good), and the fried shrimp with mayo appetizer. The other plates were ordered were delicious, too! And truthfully, our bill at the end of the night was completely reasonable. The one slight downside to this place was the service. Being at the bar, we did notice that those seated at the table were served more frequently. In addition, we had several different servers all night, which lead to a bit of confusion for the ordering (all were pleasant, however!). Not a game changer, but definitely something to consider. I do think it attributes to the casual feel of this place, but it just makes for an odd style of service. Regardless, I would 100% consider returning to NYC just to eat at this place. It was that memorable! If you should be in the area, this restaurant is definitely a must do.

I was looking for a nice Japanese restaurant and I was so lucky as to bump into this great one. The atmosphere is great, service is excellent, friendly and really profesional. FOOD!!!...that was the best part. I had a nice gyozas to start with but the best was to come; a real tempura Udon. It tasted just like the ones I have had in my twenty years traveling to Japan where I have family living. It has been a great and beautiful surprise on this last trip to NYC. I come to the city pretty often so I will definitely be back. Thank you!!! Arigato gozaimasu!!!

Really good food - especially the yakitori menu but service left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Despite a reservation (and there were empty tables), we had to wait for 15 mins to be seated. It then took another 15 before someone showed up to take our order. One of my friends asked for a 'small plate' for the soya sauce and the response she got was ... 'Its already here', even when it wasn't. The water realized and went back to her one. Avoid the seared tuna. Weird bitter after taste. Given that it is NY, would suggest go elsewhere. Not worth the hype.

Amazing food. Wonderful service. I would eat here every day if I could afford it. Best eating experience in NYC when I visited.

This is really nice Japanese Izakaya place, with extensive sake menu and good offering of tap and bottled Asian beers. The food is really good, we shared lot of different dishes. Kimchi is great, steamed pork dumplings. Octopus salad, Brussels sprouts wrapped with bacon, skillet dish with pork and vegetables. The only thing that was really underwhelming were chicken skewers. We started early (6 PM) by 8 place is hoping and it gets loud and the service slows down. Seating is really cramped but overall fun place for group dining.

Izakaawa Nomad is fab glam! Came with a group, ate sushi, sashimi, yakatori... oh my. All solid. Brussel sprouts and pork belly were sensational, as was the Mina roll--a melange of yellowtail, tuna, salmon and crab. We shall return!

Coming back from a Doctor visit and walking east on 26th Street we happened on Izakaya. We noticed a very good zagat rating in the window so stopped in to eat. It was very good and very friendly. Their wine prices were reasonable and while my wife opted for her usual Salmon sushi I ordered a Tuna Plate which consisted of two spicy tuna rolls, two tuna sashimi slices over wasabi and two large tuna loins. Rice and salad and miso soup also came with the plate. A lot for the money and all very good. Service was proficient and the prices were reasonable by NYC standards.

Great traditional izakaya style restaurant, but they have some dishes with a twist. If you like to try traditional Japanese that is not common in the US, I recommend okonomiyaki — it is hard to describe. Non-Japanese friend tried it for the 1st time a liked it and described it as seafood pizza, not technically accurate but it is a helpful reference. The cheese is a nice twist to the traditional. Hint: try it for lunch! Izakaya style is more of a dinner thing, at lunch it tends to be less busy and quieter.

Great food. The okonomiyaki is amazing, it's like a Japanese version of pizza. You can order it without the fish flakes for anyone who is vegetarian. The Godzilla roll was exceptional as well. Service was good and the staff was very attentive. If you make a reservation they honor it for 15 minutes so definitely try to be on time.

This is a little fancier izakaya than most. There is an amazing assortment of food and the service is extraordinarily helpful. Most of the food was very good and the sake selection was great as well. Would definitely return.

I think they showcase Japanese izakaya cuisine well here. The most amazing things are the smelt, clam hotpot, and the yellowtail collar. It's clean, cozy but not cramp, and service is friendly. I just don't think I'd go out of my way if I was visiting NYC for a limited number of days. However, it is a good restaurant and if you have a hankering for Japanese izakaya food, then why not.

One of the best meals we have ever had, the staff were amazing and the food was brilliant. The fried oysters were a particular favourite as was the beef short rib. I couldnt fault the place, everything was served in good time and explained clearly.

Our group of 5 was seated upon arrival at around 6:30. We got the furthest back table which was a little cramped but it was cozy so that's okay. We tried a bunch of things off the menu, from sushi and small plates to larger ones. Everything was good and some things were excellent! We loved the Golden, Godzilla, and Astroboy rolls a lot. Nice sized pieces with tons of tasty fish and dressing. The purple sweet potato fries were BOMB. You have to get those (we had two baskets). The short rib was tender and tasty, the bacon wrapped asparagus was great and the bacon wrapped mochi was just okay. We shared the smoked bacon Okonomiyaki and the flavors were so pleasantly surprising. This was definitely a favorite. Lastly, we shared a tuna poke bowl with godzilla sauce – this was enormous and so good! Every morsel of food was really fresh and dishes were brought out very fast. All of our servers were extremely friendly and pleasant. I would definitely come back here. They had a great sake list, as well!

We love this place. The staff is great, the sushi and rolls are excellent. Don’t miss the ‘rice balls’ and anything from the grill. One of our neighborhood staples.

Great happy hour, nice small plates. It is appropriately priced for the quality (which is not gourmet). Service is cheerful, efficient and especially great for choosing a saki selection. Bit is these things that give it 4 rather than 3. Nice neighborhood place to kill a little time and drink some sake. Bar is the best place to sit and grilled mackerel is one of the. Best dishes.

Basically a Japanese restaurant run by Koreans! I recently came for lunch and had the misfortune of choosing a Chirashi (basically sliced raw fish/sashimi) on top of rice and also a Sweet Shrimp topped with Sea Urchin sushi. While the presentation of Chirashi is nice especially the miniature sushi rice wooden bowl, the quality of the fish is questionable and I question the authenticity of the dish. The side order sushi was also bad. They put some sea urchin on some tiny sweet shrimps. That is not how you should serve the sushi. It should be a good sized sweet shrimp topped with sea urchin. I recommend the restaurant not to serve it again. The staffs were friendly and the food delivery was speedy. However, I will recommend going with its cooked food menus, rather than sashimi and sushi.

If your looking for an authentic Japanese BBQ you must eat at NoMad. Luckily one of our party was a Japanese speaker and knew the cuisines. We started with a nice IKi saki and broth of fish cakes and vegetables, oysters and clams. Then some BBQ pork belly and shoulder followed by some chicken flavored I sea salt and lemon... Wow. My personal favorite was the BBQ tongue! Lastly one of our traditional American guests ordered a couple of rolls...the rolls tasted like rolls... Highly recommend and the place had a line when out the door when we left at 11pm! Reservations recommended ....
Still delicious!
Still delicious! This was a return trip. Such a good experience last time that we repeated it for a birthday. Lots of great choices. We ate ourselves silly. Nothing here that is delicious.
