Nice Irish Bar

By Mike |

Lovely bar with friendly staff. Big selection of beers, the bar food is tasty. It also has plenty of teles so it's good for watching sports

Typical sports bar

By Joe P |

The food was average and the menu offered no special offerings. Service was spotty and the bar, at least that night was noisy which you might expect from this type restaurant.

Great!

Average Bar Food

By Shanker B |

This place is very close to Empire State Building and it is one of the thousands of Irish Bars and Pubs in the city. The food is typical bar food and it is average - nothing stands out - it is basically a good old bar and grill. It was not memorable enough to visit again.

A great sports bar

By The name is Bond |

We went here a few times to chill out and rest our weary legs the food and service was great made you feel at home. Tells all over if you wanted to watch all kinds of sports

Good boozer, great location

By Aquaeduardo |

Went here last September to watch an early ()700) game of football. Good service and would recommend if your in the area. Only had a couple of drinks, but what would you expect at 7 in the morning. Great atmosphere. One to put on the map for sure.

Attention university of kentucky fans!

By MiJa55 |

If you are a Uk fan this is the place to be. Cut little narrow bar with decent food. $4 domestic pints which is pretty reasonable for NYC. Tried the sampler with the group for an app and it was alright. Everyone's dinner entrées were decent, although somewhat overpriced. Would have been better if the waitress spoke a little clearer.

Good food friendly atmosphere, a good place to visit in NY

By JimKSR |

I've had lunch there a few times and each time I've enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and professional. The menu is varied and everything I've eaten there I've enjoyed. If you like a good burger or salad it's on their menu. Prior to a ranger game I've had dinner there and it's definitely a great place to go prior to a game.

Just plain poor

By Iccash |

Maybe they had an off-night. I hope so. We were slowly waited on for drinks for the first round, had to go to the bar to get another drink and order food and completely forgotten after that. Picked up plates and empty glasses but even then didn’t ask if we would like another. The owner should be mad; his people are costing $. I never tip less than 15% and generally over-tip but she got 5 tonight and I felt bad about that (I won’t stiff anyone for any reason) but she didn’t deserve even the 5% I gave her. Just too bad as I liked the place and it could have been a good experience.

Loved it

By KittyKat1987 |

Great little boozer we found whilst in New York for 2 weeks. All the staff we encountered were friendly. Landlady was absolutely lovely. Have recommended to everyone I know since we have bene home thanks!!

Classical

By A44Chief |

If your looking for Authentic style, a Traditional look, or a bubbling Atmosphere, you will find them All Here. Sunday is All Screens Football. The Traditional food is just that. The menu has enough variety for everyone, and a good selection of Beer, for what might be a classic Irish Pub.

Good grub, good beer, genuinely Irish feeling bar.

By Irishbackpacker11 |

Came here with family for lunch after being up in the Empire State Building. It was recommended to us by a member of staff whose name I cannot remember but he gave us good advise. Walked into the bar and honestly felt I was home in Ireland, the staff were all friendly and chatty. The food was filling and tasty. A lot of "Irish bars" give a false idea of what Irish bars are like in reality, this one for me hits the mark.

Great place

By Tracey A |

After waiting nearly 30 years to visit NYC we stumbled upon Jack Dempsey bar. It became our favourite bar after first visit. Drinks are free poured liberally and great value for money. Lost cost of how many free drinks were given after getting there at 6pm for food and leaving at 7am!!! (Even tho they close at 4am!) what a night! Eamon the bar man was outstanding ❤️ Fabulous service, so much fun & an experience to remember. Cannot fault The place. Highly recommend. Thank you Jack Dempsey’s 😘

Great potato skins!

By Pep A |

Went there on purpose for their potato skins after googling and they were superb! Rest of the stuff we ordered was fine, friendly waitress

Great Irish bar

By sweet_pea8610 |

This is my boyfriend's favourite bar in NY. We came here the first night we were in NY, and also made it the last place we had a drink before we left. Managed to get a seat at the bar every time. Staff are friendly. Food is good, big portions. Was busy the afternoon we left with sport fans but didn't bother us. Good place all round.

Noisy

By Nasus Y |

Good beer selection, food average but comes out directly from the kitchen hot. If there is an event on they turn the television quite loud so it makes chatting with friends and family very difficult. Probably not return only because there is so many other restaurants in the areas to try out.

Nice place

By JOSE DIAZ |

Great place to relax and have a drink or eat. Family friendly, very lay back environment. Recommend it.

Lovely Meal

By Yorkterrier01 |

Despite being quite busy early on, there were no issues accommodating our party. The food prices rations were generous and very well cooked. Prices were what I'd expect from a Manhattan eatery and the service was very good.

This place is a knockout!

By AsiaPacMan |

Stopped by here on a very cold Sunday morning for breakfast before going up the Empire State Building which is right across the street (entrance round the corner). We were delighted by the welcome from the staff and then the realisation that there were TVs everywhere covering sports. We had coffees to warm us and Irish breakfasts to set us up for the day and were astonished at the low cost given how much we've had to pay elsewhere. Only downside was the gents toilet - a little messy but it had been used all night beside the downstairs bar. Finally, we had the good fortune of being there while the Celtic Supporters Club were enjoying a televised match in the upstairs room. They were a nice bunch of people and their cheers when their team scored added to the experience.

Family Football Friendly Pub 🍀

By Jim K |

Fantastic venue 🤟 Watched Celtic Fc, with my Son, beat rangers in the SLCF on the 15 Dec 24💚🍀⚽ Great atmosphere, Guinness and craic. The Staff were very attentive and friendly.

Break from shopping

By alyssa w |

Great place to take a break from shopping and have a beer that doesn't cost $18. Sports bar for the sporty husband type! Everyone wins

Lovely little bar

By citybreaks |

Lovely small bar close to maceys and the Empire State Building, friendly staff and good bar snacks definitely one to visit

Nice bad with good food

By PaulWelsh14 |

We found this place when looking for somewhere to watch the UFC. It was definitely worth stumbling across. We both ended up having the pulled pork sandwich which was a big portion of pork and fries. We ended up staying for a couple of hours and having a few drinks. The food was cheap and the drinks were not to dear either, for a pint of cider and a glass of wine it came to $15. The staff were all friendly and there seemed to be an all around good atmosphere around the bar. There were 3 different sports on the many TVs spotted around the bar, great for people wanting to have a pint and watch the game, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a bar lunch and a few drinks.

Great food great beer great people

By Julian J |

What a superb place amazing atmosphere. All the staff brilliant and food and drink top class. Went back next day for a stunning breakfast. It's a must visit.

Friendly bar

By Loftie1 |

A first visit. Friendly atmosphere and staff. Great music. We were resting our tired feet and did not eat. Bar was clean. Good location. Well worth a return visit. No details of a happy hour.

Drinks

By Alcofrolic |

Only came for drinks but no complaints and drinks were reasonable for the area. Nice wine before heading up to The Empire State Building

Imposed gratuity, bill higher than menu prices

By Gabriele B |

decent food. hurried waitress, without any empathy. prices different from those written on the menu, higher than two dollars per plate. final surprise. gratuity already included in the account at 18 percent, which is usually reserved for excellent treatments, not the one received at Demsey. in the end, a bad experience, I felt a tourist in the hands of a crafty ansd not honest waiter

Highly recommend paying a visit when you're in the city

By Diane M |

We happened across this place accidently on a bitterly cold afternoon, having explored the city that morning in -11c with our 3 children. Initially, we were just going to have a drink to warm ourselves up before heading back out, but then we were met with the lovely staff, which prompted us to stay for lunch. The food didn't disappoint. The fire was super cosy, inviting, and a very welcomed addition. Very friendly staff that understand how to provide great service and were great with our children. We never felt like an inconvenience or rushed at any stage. Thank you for giving us some nice memories on our first trip to NYC

Great Atmosphere and Great Food

By Hullfox |

We had our evening meal here on one of the coldest nights of recent history and it was just what we needed. For NYC everything including the drinks were reasonably priced and the atmosphere was just what you want from a pub.

Great Place

By DoubleC2011 |

Found this place to watch the Liverpool BPL match. Great atmosphere, good food and the server from Donegal was out standing. A definite visit again spot.

New York

By Pete W |

We visited this wonderful pub on a recent trip to New York and had lunch there as we where recommended by a family member and we would recommend this to anyone looking a lunchtime visit or an evening.

Cosy pub with great food and accommodating staff

By Luana J |

We travelled to New York from the UK for Thanksgiving week and looked everywhere for a pub that was showing the boxing on the Saturday night and this was the only place we could find. The food was amazing and was really good value for money. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff that was there especially the Irish lady (I don’t know her name). Next time we go to New York, we’d definitely go back here and it’s a place I’d highly recommend.

Nice spot

By Beegal99 |

Food’s good, looks like a friendly and inviting bar. Had the fish and chips, didn’t taste as being previously frozen. Wife had a proper breakfast, blood sausage was tasty. Definitely stopping back next time.

Gotta Go Here

By talk2davies |

We stumbled onto this place after seeing the Jets and SeaHawks game. Were walking and walking and finally saw Jack Dempsey's and looked appealing. There were three young guys working this night and the service was excellent. We ordered of course beer as more football was going on and then wings and Nachos. All were excellent. Love this place. Thanks guys for a great everything....

Fun Atmosphere - Good Eats

By Steve Landis |

Located on the south-side of the Empire State Building and a few minutes from Macy's Herald Square, Jack Demsey's provided us with a much needed break and very good lunch much needed after hours of walking the streets of Midtown Manhattan. Jack Demsey's offers American, English and Irish fare along with an extensive selection of draft & bottled beer and a well stocked variety of liquor. The decor and bar are pub-like, fun and on during lunch, brisk with business from locals and English / Irish expats alike. For lunch we had a pair of burgers including the Grilled Canadian Bison Burger, which was cooked to perfection, piping hot and full of flavor. We also enjoyed a few Irish Ale drafts. Although we didn't linger and moved on to our next New York experienced, Jack Demsey's was a very nice place for a bit and rest.

Crowded

By Marcus P |

Watched the world cup in football here when USA won against France. Also had the pub snack Mac and cheese and my fiancé tried their nachos. Both plates where a good portion so we where satisfied. The place got super loud during and after the game. We took a place at the bar on the second level.

Dinner

By rwinford2307 |

Dinner was the best. the food was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. the prices are very reasonable and the staff was well knowledged

lovely Pub

By Andrew R |

This pub is nestled between the skyscrapers on Broadway and makes a pretty picture. Definitely worth stopping by

Outstanding

By m m |

Played here in 2011 and it was the best night of my trip to NYC. A lovely bar with great staff, and home of the celtic supporters club which was always going to get my vote. Cant wait to return

Good for drinks but not for dinner

By GlasgowBuddy |

On a recent trip to Manhattan my wife and I went in to this pub for dinner, the pub was very busy so we were shown downstairs to a small bar with a few tables (including a pool table). We got seated and ordered- food french onion soup which was nice ( $5.50 per bowl). I ordered beef and irish stout in puff pastry ($15) and my wife ordered shepherds pie ($15) we also ordered a bottle of wine to have with our meal but we were informed that they only sold wine by the glass, which was disappionting and added to the expense.! When our main courses arrived we waited for a few minutes before asking the potatoes &/or vegetables only to discover that potatoes/chips had to be ordered seperately. So we ordered a portion of fries ($5) to share . My steak pie was very tasty but should have come as a meal with potatoes& veggies included ! ! Now I have been to upmarket restaurants where potatoes & veg are ordered as side dishes but not in a pub ! The tip was automatically added on our bill which irked me somewhat - I know that tipping is the norm in new york and I also know how to calculate the tip without being TOLD how much to leave. I had previosly been in this pub for a couple drinks and found the staff friendly and there is a good atmosphere. So certainly go in for drinks but I would not recommend this place for a meal !

Great bar for sports

By JandDatOCD |

Being boxing fans our hotel recommended Jack Dempsey’s bar so we watched the Joshua v Parker fight in this bar yesterday evening. There is plenty televisions and no matter how crowded you could view a screen. The beer is normal price for New York. When we went in it was packed and we were looking for some chairs when a barman came up to us and sorted us with chairs and a table. A real nice touch!!!

Great atmosphere pub

By dickybird868 |

Watched the Ruiz v Joshua fight here.. was greeted upon arrival by the same Irish bloke who had just been serving us in Legends ...!! what a brilliant atmosphere here.. drinks were not over expensive.. and all in all it does what it says on the label.. it's a sports style pub with beers.. I didn't see anyone eating but you really couldn't move it was so packed

Great Bar , service and friendly atmosphere.

By jonjas |

Only had chance of 1 night here but it was the best night as Alan the barman made us feel welcome and we met so many nice people from all over. Relaxed atmosphere and ggreat laugh. would love to have been there for an Ireland or Celtic game.

A nice experience☘️🇮🇪🇺🇸

By andrew |

Visited this irish pub, good vibe place , busy, good guiness & the food portions are huge!, really friendly staff & atmosphere, worth a couple of your hours whilst in NYC🇺🇸

great pub

By jojo_swansea75 |

What a find this was,we stayed around the corner from her on 32nd and stopped here for a sharp one on the way to the empire state one night, what a friendly place, the barman Bobby was a really nice bloke so we went back the next night to where it was packed from people who'd been to Madison Square Gardens but it was still the friendly place it was the night before when it was quite empty,Like i said earlier that Bobby was a great host and would definately go back there if visiting New York again,

Just ok. Watched a playoff

By JSM |

Just ok. Watched a playoff game. Good TV. Young loud crowd with lots of #%^ language. Good onion rings. Burger had been sitting around awhile. Attentive waitress. Won't be back.

Great Irish bar going back soon

By debdemske |

We were really thirsty after our trip to the Empire State building and we’re looking for a cool place for a drink. We walked past several on our way looking for this place in particular. We were not disappointed. The drinks were strong and not crazy expensive. Oliver our bartender was very personable and very knowledgeable. We were able to recharge the phonesRight there at the bar while we drink and rested going there again

Good pub food just off the buzzing and busy main streets

By Fantasavestheday |

We went in here by chance when our stomachs and feet would not take us any further without food and drink. Nice pub menu that comes in huge portions. Good service and cold cold beers. The only shame is that they did not serve Kilkenny :-)

Genuine Irish pub.

By Jorgen H |

Found this 2 blocks from our hotel Pennsylvania (near MSG). Great bar. Great food. Great staff. Thx Megan, Sharon and the host himself ofcourse. Worth a visit.

I cannot recommend- not even a little bit.

By Riggzy02 |

I ate at this restaurant on a whim. I didn't do my typical research on trip advisor, but wish I had. We went to lunch around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. In mid-town, I feel like that should be a busy lunch time. The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived (red flag #1). To begin, the table was sticky and the menus were filthy (red flag #2). We ordered drinks and my husbands beer was completely flat (red flag #3). I ordered a roast beef sandwich with cheese. The bread was great- fresh and tasty. East coasters love their bread :) The cheese appeared to be a Kraft single melted into the beef. The roast beef was thick and flat and had a horrid smell. With fear, I ate a few bites thinking the smell may have come from a strange spice. The taste was abominable. I have eaten a lot of roast beef in my life and this by far was the absolute worst tasting roast beef I have ever had. I must include positives to be fair. My husband enjoyed his burger and my kids didn't have strong opinions either way. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Those are the only reasons I didn't give this restaurant the lowest rating. If there was only one red flag or my food tasted better maybe I would give e this place a second try, but I cannot in any way recommend this restaurant.

BRILLIANT FRIENDLY PUB

By wiltech1966 |

was there last week watching hoops game met few fellow tims and had the most amazing service from ashley and sam ... will defo be back next time im in nyc ...hail-hail

Great for beer, skip the burgers!

By ivanski |

We have visited this pub a couple times before. The atmosphere and beer: always good! However the food was below average (burgers): Disappointing and bland. I do recommend this place for drinks, but skip the meal.

The real deal

By Diogynesthecritic |

I loved this bar , it was the real deal ,my family loved it's as well , we had a great St Patrick's day the day before and we found this bar near to Macy's .Its well known in our circles but I wanted to see for myself and I was not disappointed . It is the ideal sports /Irish bar with the total lack of pretentious kitch and leprechauns . We were given a table right away and we were served by a really friendly chap from Dundalk and my mother grew up in the area so the conversation broke the ice. The drinks were very reasonable prices and refills were always available another server was very quick to clear our used/ empty plates. I ordered the smoked salmon as a starter and not only was it delicious but it was a huge portion of beautiful fresh salad and brown granary bread the others had excellent starters .My main was the chicken pot pie and my son had the steak pot pie .Excellent!.Although the bar was extremely busy they were in no rush to get the table back .Although the bar looked hectic and busy everybody was being served by pleasant helpful staff .Everyone enjoyed a range of items off the menu In my opinion Jack Dempsey's is the benchmark for a no fuss ,honest to goodness filling meal at good prices in Manhattan ,excellent choice of beers and helpful friendly staff Excellent!

Fantastic Bar

By mackrellanthony |

Visited this bar while coming from the Empire State building, so so glad we did as the food, service and atmosphere was excellent, special thanks to Megan for the fantastic service with a smile and making us all feel so welcome, would recommend this bar to anyone while visiting New York.

Not an enjoyable experience

By joekep823 |

We were looking for a place to watch a basketball game, and through some NYC websites, this place was rated as one of the top sports bars in town- This must've been a joke! We were seated upstairs in a dining room-both of our chairs were broken and wobbly at best. We tried to take chairs from a nearby table, but those were in the same condition. There were boxes of " stuff" lying around everywhere, as if we were eating in an attic or a storage space. I ordered a Turkey Burger-nothing fancy, and it was OK-hard to screw this up, which they did not, but also did nothing to enhance the burger. My wife made the mistake of ordering one of their specials of the day" a homestyle stuffed chicken breast"....both of us having enough experience in a kitchen, we were very disappointed and almost embarrassed for the restaurant in what they served-The cost of $18.00(not terrible for NYC) included 2 sides of mashed potatoes, so dry, you would have thought they were left over from Thanksgiving dinner!-the stuffed chicken breast was without a doubt a previously frozen chicken cordon bleu, cut into 3 pieces and layered with a piece of provolone on top. I could buy a box of 4 of these chicken breasts at my local grocery store for $5.99. The service was OK at best-I believe we had our water glasses filled a 2nd time....we did receive our bill promptly, which was the best part of the entire experience! The menu itself had many offerings, although little appealed to us. In the future, we would not step foot into this establishment...

Terrible bartender, no service

By yankeedad69 |

The wife and I stopped in for a drink around 1130, we sat at the bar as you walked in. The bar tender was at the other end of the bar eating and talking to other customers. The place did not look busy at all. The bar tender looked at us several times but never came to take our order. Another couple came in five minutes after us and was served immediately, the bar tender even looked at us and when he was finished serving those people, he walked back to the other end of the bar. We left without being served. We will not be going back.

Sunday Morning Community Shield and Beer

By Brian K |

What do you do while visiting friends are in the Empire State Building? Watch Man City v Liverpool with some wings and beer at Dempsey's! It's a short walk around the block from the Observation Level entrance. They offer a solid menu of pub grub and sandwiches, and do it pretty well.

Great Sports Bar

By TushTushar |

New Yorks Number 1 Celtic Football Fan Club, that's what this place is. My friend from England wanted their t-shirts and I got a couple for them. While I was here, we also got a couple of drinks. Good overall atmosphere.

Good food... a little noisey

By tubby62 |

we stopped in for a quick bite before catching our train at Penn Station. Now mind you is was during Sunday Football Games.. but it was very loud... Not that the bar crowd was out of line... it was just hard to carry on a normal conversation in the dinning area with all the noise. Our server was nice and our food good.

First Visit to New York

By texansred9091 |

First visit to New York and wanted to try some of the neighborhood establishment. Was not impressed by the service or the condition of this bar. Ordered a couple of mixed drinks that were more soda than bourbon. The staff didn't seem to like their jobs. Went to use the rest rooms before we left and wished I hadn't. Wouldn't recommend.

Best bar in NYC

By jackson5712 |

Stumbled across this bar looking for a pit stop 3 years ago . It’s now our go to place for past 3 Januarys when we spend a week in NYC and will be back this coming January. Excellent value , good food but it’s the staff and atmosphere that make this bar. Spend every night chilling enjoying the chat and laughs. Staff make sure you are well looked after . This bar is a very big part of our experience in NYC . Can’t wait to be back.

Drinks with rugby

Dad said rate 5 stars. I will be there Nov. 9 can't wait. I will find picture if right place and post

Good food with no waiting !

By HoustonCoolmom |

We took the kids here after seeing the empire state building and we got right in- it is a pub as well, but it was fine. The prices are reasonable and the food was good. Just an easy experience.

Just another Pub

By Michael B |

We were in area and after my wife's shopping spree we were thirsty so we found Jack Dempsey's Pub, There is nothing fancy on the inside and nothing to write about but was impressive were the people at the bar, I have never net so many friendly people just having a beer it was almost like they knew you

Great place, shame about the sectarianism

By David P |

So I had been here a couple of times many years ago and it was always a great NYC Irish pub. I went back this weekend and it remains great, but there was a group who sang the sort of song that perpetuates sectarianism and bigotry in the west of Scotland. This was tolerated by staff, who either knew what it meant and did nothing, or who didn't understand the divisiveness and intolerance that it represented and weren't equipped to put a stop to it. Fat, bald bigots with neck folds are unattractive in their native Scotland, Ireland or on the road in the US. Don't let them have an influence. I say this as a Scot who left Scotland because of this sort of intolerance and small-minded approach to life...

Best CFC supporters club outside of Scotland

By maisie50 |

We watched the Barca game (Celtic 2 Barca 1) here and the incredible atmosphere was enhanced by a very friendly BILLY CONNOLLY waliking in and joining in the craic. Cracking wee bar

Awesome Irish bar

By James Harvey |

Jack dempseys is a cracking Irish/sports bar near the Empire State Building and Macy's The guy that looks and sounds like kenny Rogers is one of the nicest guys I've ever met in NYC. I didn't spend a massive time in here but it's really worth checking out

Excellent food, great drinks

By Dave G |

We watched the Super Bowl here, the place was packed. We still got great service, the food was good and the drinks were great. The place is either 3 or 4 stories tall, plenty of room for lots of people. It was a short walk from Times Square. We actually ate here twice, the second time it was much less crowded, but the service was excellent. I highly recommend trying it out, very cool place!

Late lunch after Empire State Building Tour

By 12359peeksd |

We were there for a 3:30pm lunch, so the place was not busy. We sat at a high top away from the bar and ordered off the lunch specials menu. The service was okay; my husband jokingly asked the waitress to smile and she replied that we had interrupted her lunch. The food was okay; we had the French dip (the meat was tough, but tasty), the chicken pasta (okay) and the open-faced reuben (again, okay). The best part of this stop was the atmosphere and pints.

Wish we found this bar sooner.

By inkedup |

Authentic NY bar. The waitress was great to talk to even though she was busy. There was a great atmosphere and the drink was the cheapest out of all the bars we visited on our holiday in NY. We’ll definitely be back on our next trip.

A Let Down

By pie64 |

I have followed the great boxing champ for years so a visit to the pub of his name was my number one wish on a visit to New York. I was not impressed. A Club Sandwich and a "pint of Guinness" that WAS Not a pint for 29 Dollars was a real let down. I asked the bar woman.. "is this a pint, I asked for a pint"? She replied., with attitude, "It's Our Pint"!! Beware the pint of Guinness with the illusion of being a pint. I am saddened to say this.. I am Irish and a huge Dempsey boxing fan. I will not be ripped off. A Pint is a specific measurement not a choice for ripping me off.

Drop in and have a great time.

By Matt H |

Went there with my brothers early November 2025, loved the place, k lain and nieve were very attentive and k lain being a dedicated and animated celtic fan was a funny bonus.., whether they won or lost,🤣, food was excellent, and we had a great time with the locals who popped in ( you can tell a good bar by the locals), hopef, ully be back in 2027, be nice to reacquaint ourselves with the staff,😊

Good 'local' type of bar, good appetizers. Good selection of beers.

By mstravelbuddies |

Close to our hotel so it was nice to grab a drink and some food. Beer prices at happy hour are good. Drinks were over priced!! A cozy type bar for what seemed to be locals and college aged adults. Would recommend Happy hour for better prices on beers.

Disgusting

By kate055 |

We visited here for dinner the place was not busy we should have known ! My husband had steak which was cremated it looked like to lumps of coal. My nephew and I had chicken which was tasteless and the vegetables was a pile of half cooked mixed peppers which neither of us can eat and they did not have any other type of vegetable !!!!REALLY the desert was a tasteless cheese cake. I actually began to wonder did they even have a chef working. This place is not cheap avoid for food it only got one star because of the server Liam ! I refused to pay for the steak and one of the staff an Asian guy tried to argue with me no my friend it was inedible !!

Huge portions!

By ShetlandSheltie |

I visited Demseys with friends, and we all ordered starters, but the starter was so huge I struggled to finish the main course, The starter I had was the best calamari I have ever had, it would have done on it's own, huge plate full. This was followed by a beautiful steak, that I couldn't really appreciate due to the huge starter. Well worth the price! Next time I'll have one course.

Great food

By les91178 |

We came on new years day for a quick early lunch before catching our train home. Food was excellent amd our server was very friendly. I had a burger and my husband had bangers and mashed. Both were cooked perfectly. Great experience and would definitely go back.

Excellent Irish Pub in Vibrant area

By brianL898UC |

Staff very nice & efficient. Emmet who runs the Pub could not of being more help. Nice pint of Guinness!

Good bar - and good restaurant with nice food

By 193cat |

Ate breakfast and dinner in this bar. The breakfast was very good and the dinner was OK. I ordered the steak and ale pie for dinner and it basically came with a bit of pastry and that was it - just this bowl of meat and gravy with pastry on top - I felt that is could have done with some veg or fries to make it a bit more palatable. The breakfast was great though and I certainly couldn't fault the staff -they were brilliant, efficient and very friendly and welcoming.

Best bar in NYC

Great Beer, Great Staff

By Birchhome |

My Wifes Father and also her Grand Father frequested this bar in the past when they were in NY so we had to go - great atomosphere, great beers - and a bar man that looked like Kenny Rogers who looked after us - great place - strong vodka and tonics :)

Great beer, great food, great staff

By Kevin M |

We went to Demsey's on the recommendation of friends who had visited on their travels to NYC - glad we did. They had a great menu which was very fast and tasted great. We also discovered that they had a Celtic Supporters Club that showed the games live from Scotland. As there was a big Glasgow Derby coming up we made sure we were there nice and early as they opened the bar up for a 7am kick off. Brilliant - especially as we won too!! There was live music and the bar staff were great too. They were also good enough to actually buy you a beer back after a few rounds if you'd been good to them. We found ourselves in here 3 times and will definitely head back next time I'm in NYC.

What a place!

A typical Irish pub with great beers, great food, excelent attending and nice prices. Great people to hangout too! Totally recommend it!

Ireland with a NY twist!

By Cassandra M |

My sister and i had come here to eat following our visit to the empire state building. It was conveniently located right around the street it took 2 minutes to walk there. We walked in where you are immediately near the bar area, however we went towards the back to dine. The music that was playing was modern (common rap/trap songs that are played on the radio today). Our waiter TJ was so awesome!!!!! He made our time there so enjoyable he was the sweetest guy and had the coolest irish accent which enhanced our experience! For dinner we ordered the mozzarella sticks which were very good. We each ordered the pre fixe dinner for $27 you have a choice of soup or salad, an entree of your choosing (it was a choice of ny strip steak, chicken in a creamy herb sauce, filet of sole stuffed with crab meat, or baby back ribs) 2 sides, dessert (apple pie or cheesecake) and coffee or tea!!! I ordered the chicken, which for the price was great but could've been better tasting. Next time i visit i will try something else on the menu. Overall it was worth the visit

Good home cooked food

By Angecarrahar |

A very warm welcome. If home cooked food is what ur looking for then this is the place to go. Situated round the corner from empire state building. Nicer than TGI Friday. very reasonable prices ask for Jimmy

Uncomfortable atmosphere. Very rude bar staff. We were hoping for the hospitality usually associated with the US bar scene. Sadly nothing like the bars in Boston.

Nice little boozer

By One hungry northerner |

Located straight opposite the Empire State Building so easy to find. Warm welcome from the bar staff and found a spot at the bar so we could watch one of the many TVs showing sport. Typical pub menu which we opted for chicken quesadillas and chilli nachos, really good pub fayre. Good drink selection also. $90 for food and 8 drinks, great value.

OK as a restaurant, might be better as a sports bar

By OldGuyfromBay |

We were not your typical target customers for Jack Demsey's -- after visiting the Empire State Building, we had limited time to grab dinner before going to a Broadway show, and someone suggested we give this place a try. It is primarily a sports bar, but it has a small room in the back that serves dinner. We told them we were in a hurry, and they did a good job of bringing our food quickly. The food was pretty good, but not remarkable. When we were done, the staff seemed to have forgotten about us, but with modest effort I was able to get a check and we were on our way. So only 3 stars as a restaurant, but nothing glaringly wrong. The crowd at the bar seemed to be having a good time.

Great Food

By travel smart |

Love this place! Visit it every year on the night we arrive into New York. This is where we kick start our holiday! Staff are fantastic and friendly. Lovely to see Irish staff working in an Irish bar. Food is great, we have never got a bad meal in the 11 years we have been going here. I can also say we have had some very late nights here! Its a small friendly bar not typical of New York, somewhere where you would be happy to go even if you were on your own and just wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink. I send my husband here while I go shopping in Macys, keeps us both happy!!!

Great bar

By TMLBaker |

Popped in here for a few drinks with friends and ended up staying for a few more !! Atmosphere is great the bar man was a laugh and was handing out shots like no tomorrow. We all ate in here the food was excellent. Its ideal for a pit stop.

Good place for a beer

By JN881 |

Nice place to stop for a beer next to the Empire State. Good range of beers & staff were exceptionally friendly. Felt like a traditional bar, would recommend.

Dropped by before the UK vs Maryland game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The place was packed with UK fans. Jack Demsey's provides bus service to the game ($25 per person including drinks on the bus). (We took the subway, which was convenient and inexpensive.) The food was great. Service was quick and friendly. Only negative was we had to wait for a table because it was so packed, but that's because UK had so many fans there. Jack Demsey's even has a special UK menu. Great place!

Cute, Convenient Bar

By AlwayInLoveWithItaly |

Jack Demsey's is a cute, convenient bar in the 33rd/34th street area (close to the PATH, subways & shopping.) Three of us last Nov. decided to stop on in and have some food and drinks there. The place was nicely decorated for the holidays, clean and well kept. Unfortunately I only ordered the French Onion Soup that night but the other dishes on the menu definitely piqued my interest so I'll be back when I'm in the area. My soup was good. My boyfriend enjoyed his shepherd's pie and my other friend enjoyed the dishes she ordered as well. The service was good.

Think I expected to much

By Brian K |

Had always wanted to visit Dempseys due to the Celtic FC connection .. Don't know if we were just unlucky in our timing as the building seemed to be getting refurbished but the whole visit was not great . The girl who served us was nice enough but the place was underwhelming . Maybe I expected to much . There was then a problem with being over charged on the bill which kind of summed up the whole night .. Think if I go back it will be when there is a Celtic game on , perhaps it will be better

Opens at 10am so you can get an early start

By Brian M |

It's nice and empty at 10am and they're actually serving food. Good bar food - chicken tenders done lightly. I think the bartender heard us say the drinks seemed kind of weak and suddenly she brought us another round on the house. We'd go back for sure.

Good Irish pub

This was our go to bar. Lovely Irish waitresses, decent bar and good food! Recommended if nearby broadway

Will Return!

By Jesse T |

I was actually here during the NY Giants last Super Bowl. I was visiting and the Giants were about to play, and we needed a place to watch the game and get some food. Obviously, since it was NYC and the Giants were in the game, it was going to be hard to get into a place to watch. We find Jack Demsey's and the place is packed! The owner (I'm assuming) actually made a place for us to sit because he knew we were from out of town. He went out of his way to accomodate us and the food and experience was awesome! Also, the Giants won so the place was jumping! I'll never forget my experience and will return every time I visit NYC!

drink and quick bite

By stanley a a |

call us creatures of habit, but that was our 5th time to new york and we stay in the same hotel just a block from this bar,,.for the 5th time..The drinks are reasonably priced .Do sit at the bar and soak up the atmosphere, do talk to bobby the barman,[ex teacher nice guy , ended up given us slammers after just a couple of drinks ], AND SO YOU GO BACK !! 3 of us had burgers at the bar,all different styles, all good. try to avoid a table down stairs unless you want to be alone in a more peaceful place, YOU'RE IN NEW YORK GO WITH THAT FLOW .

Terrific Irish Pub

By tahoerabbit |

We discovered this great pub the last time we were in NYC and fell in love with it. First of all, the people who greet you at the door are wonderful. They make you feel right at home. The food was fabulous and the service was as well. The kicker was we had a coupon from www.restaurant.com that we used so we got a nice discount on our bill. Just a great pub.

Great bar

By MARK B |

We popped in here quite late on two consecutive nights. It wasn't busy due to the time of day but the service (Dave) was both cheerful and very good. There is a decent selection of beers & plenty of screens.

Good Irish food

By senorsenior99 |

Ate here for a early dinner. Bar was crowded but no one in dining room. Had good Irish food at reasonable prices. Good menu with many options.

ST PATRICKS DAY!

By Stuart H |

We visited on St Patricks Day and it was full!! Great atmosphere, good Guinness and friendly staff, plus we met new people who were enjoying the craic!!

Great atmosphere and host

By Sean P |

Popped in a couple of times whilst in New york. Great atmosphere and the foods is good for a sports bar. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Ventured into a few other Irish sports bars whilst in town but found dempseys the best.

Good quick lunch with kids

By travelbug34 |

We were looking for a quick bite to eat and rest our legs. Jack Dempsey's fit the bill. I had a nicely seasoned and moist turkey burger. They offered a lovely side salad in place of fries. My husband enjoyed his corned beef sandwich. The kids liked their kids meals.

Friendly and off the beaten track

By FlyingCharlie |

A pleasant retreat from the busyness that is the Broadway, 32nd St part of NYC. Great beer selection. The bar menu was yummy. Great place to relax, catch a couple of beers and yarn with the locals and tourists alike.

Stay Away from this place!!!!

By ogursoy |

Very disappointing! We tried 4 different food in this restaurant and all of them were terrible. We were in NYC just for the weekend and we were looking for a nice restaurant. Our hotel said this is the closest place and they have a good food. It turned up that the place sucked huge.. Plus the waitress had a huge attitude problem..After we complaint about our food, she was not happy to hear it and she said "Ok, what do u want? " Then the 2nd food that they brought was gross so we decided to leave saying that we will pay but we didnt able to took a 2nd bite of anything. Then she yelled to other waitresses saying that "GUESS WHAT, THEY DID NOT LIKE THIS EITHER.." It was nasty. Do not waste your time and money in there.

Nice Irish bar

By Lynne2209 |

Lovely clean tidy bar. We only stopped off for a drink as it was a "leg stretch" we were on after just arriving in NY. Looks a great place to watch Celtic. Usually don't do themed pubs but this is a good one.

Great pub, worth a visit

By Armagh2016 |

Was passing and decided to call in, ended up staying for a while. Great staff, good craic. A great pub, worth a visit.

Simply a great place

By MacJ |

Eatly dinner before the Game. Good selectiof of beers snd enough variety also for wines. Good service. Food was actually very good, suprising element in fact. Price/quality was positive. Place needs a bit upgrading.

Fantastic meal!

By tlhor |

Me and my partner used this restaurant as an off chance whilst we stayed in NYC and it was absolutely phenomenal, the food was to perfection, I had the ribs, they were so succulent and tender they were on a set 3 course menu which was great and most definitely good value for money! We got nachos as a starter and the portion was massive and all of good quality! I recommend to anyone looking for an amazing eatery in New York!

Good food good atmosphere

By KevR67 |

Enjoyed our meal at JDs and the barman was very friendly. Would recommend for a meal or just for a beer. Food was reasonable price too!

Very busy

By KEVCO36 |

We were passing by and could here what sounded like everybody having a great time from this place so we ventured in , it was very busy but managed to get a seat at the bar . Service was quick and the bartender was good fun.

Uninspired at Best

By JcPinCT |

We selected this place for the convenience as it was directly across the Empire State Building after we finished our tour. We figured we couldn't go wrong with pub food. While the prices were reasonable, the service and food were uninspired. Our waitress acted as if she didn't want to be there and failed to check on us after our food was served, even though the restaurant wasn't overly busy. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. With all the other nearby establishments to select from, you'll be best served by skipping Jack Demsey's.

Good food and service

By Confident_Swe |

We went in there for a beer resting our feet in the afternoon. We ended up having a few and since the staff and atmosphere was so nice, we decided to come back in the evening to have our dinner there. We ordered chicken and a steak and it took a while for the food to be served, and the restaurant was not full by any means. But, it was worth waiting for. My wife and I are quite picky when it comes to food, but this was really good. Good size portions and extremely tasty. We recommend this restaurant for the food, service, atmosphere and a decent NY price level.

The best place to eat after shopping!

By Anthony_kalp |

We visited jack Dempsey’s on Black Friday. I think this is the best place to relax, drink a good beer and take a good lunch after shopping. Close to Macy’s and Empire State building you will find this very good warm and cozy restaurant ! Don’t miss out to taste the irish chicken and/or the beef steak ! Of course you have to try a beer !! Value for money too!!! ;)

Nice spot for a pint

By JScotG |

I dropped in during slow hours and had a pint. I’d been wanting to visit since it is home to a Celtic Supporters Club. They had photos of players and some signed jerseys on the wall, including one from Henrik Larson. I had a Demsey’s Irish Ale and enjoyed it. The inside had a ton of woodwork and I like the long, narrow space as it’s perfect for a bar. My only regret was that I couldn’t catch a Celtic match here.

Gem of a place

By Alison H |

We stumbled across this fantastic restaurant by chance. The staff were very friendly and found the time to stop for a chat. The food was fresh and tasty and presented well. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed after dinner drinks. We would like to thank all of the staff, but especially Megan and the Manager for making us welcome. When we come back to Manhattan we shall be paying you a visit.

Great Night!

By claregirl86 |

Really enjoyed this pub and had a great night! Seemed to be one of the more popular pubs on the street. Staff were friendly and helpful..... I would recommend it.

Disappointed

By DublinPolly08 |

I was disappointed with this bar, the food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. We requested a bottle of wine as we were all drinking same and were informed that it could not be sold by the bottle.

Good luck getting a drink!

By Sugarfoot4 |

Horrible stopped in at 6:20 bar full sat at a table. Took forever for the waiter to come by told us drink specials walked away & didn't take our order waited again for some time husband finally Wales up to the bar where theater was hanging out gave home our order & he brushed him off!?! Husbands beer came but waited for the Cosmo. Finally brought it out & is was an appletini instead. Waited for him to come back to get the right drink. As I waited he & the bar tender chatted & ate fries out of a brown bag. The waiter then took the appletini & walked to the back of the restaurant?!? Came back continued too asked to the bartender as the both stared at me and gave me a "you're going to wait look" really ?! Totally rude! The bartender then decide to make my Cosmo. Husband walked up to the bar & said to forget it we're out if here. And to think we were think of eating dinner there NO WAY! Horrible getting treated that way.

fab eatery

Visited this pub tonight and found the food and service brilliant !! For someone who likes their food these portions were huge and tasted gorgeous. We were served by an irish girl with a vast knowledge of the area and an etremely polite manner. I would definitely recommend this eating house ☺

Good NY bar

By martynsnook |

Central bar near Empire State and MSG. 3 floors. Plenty of space. Show English premier league. Long bar so plenty of space to sit.

Average Joe's

By johndpatton |

Here's the thing, I'm sure it is a fine bar at night but I would say avoid the brunch seating. Place was sparsely populated with a lot of employee chatter (some of it salty) and the food was straight out of the can.

Hey UK Fans! You want to meet here!

By Z677LZterric |

Gathering spot in NYC for University of Kentucky fans. I went here for a Kentucky Sports Radio show and got fired up for the upcoming game. Not only was it great to meet with other Wildcat fans, but the food was great! I had a burger and fries, but we talked about the food for several days. It was very crowded, but our waitress handled it all. Also located close to the Garden if you're in town for a game. Lots of fun!

Dissapointing

By Kristīna K |

Stopped here for a lunch on our first day in the city. Was rather disappointed with the service - had to get my own drink from the bar, had to go and get the menus and only had our order taken when I stood up to go to the bar and order myself. Could not order additional drinks even tho we were having food so had to go up to the bar while having a meal. Also had to go up to the bar to settle the bill. When settling the bill I was only given a number and not a physical check, when I asked how it has come to this amount was told that it was because of the tax, at no point was I told that the did the gratuity was also added so I left 15% from the amount and asked for a print out of the bill. Only when I came back to the table did I noticed that gratuity is also included. So, the bar person actually got over 30% tip for not having done very much. While I am well aware how tipping in US works I also expect to receive good service in return, unfortunately, I did not get that. I would also expect that I can see a print out of the bill before money is taken from me and when I ask about what is included I would actually be told about ALL the ad-ons. In short, overpriced, not great service and there are better places to eat nearby.

Great Irish sports bar

By MarkP1888 |

Staff were great. Liam was looking after us and worked extremely hard the whole time we were there. A credit to the place. Food was great and reasonable. Drinks were in line with what you expect to pay in the centre of Manhattan. Had a good experience and would definately go back

Great Bar

By BlayneAdeline |

This is the bar where the University of Kentucky has their watch parties.Good drinks. Decent bar food. Good location. Was there after UK played in Madison Square Garden.Always fun to catch up with fellow Kentuckians!

Max tips included on the bill by default

By Mireand |

Food was correct but the service was awful, too quick, and in fact they don't care, probably because they know the max tips are already on the bill. And while you're eating they keep on counting their tips. Don't go there to drink wine it's expensive and disgusted. They don't even have a bottle on the menu, only wine by the glass.

Great Food

By Thea G |

The food was excellent and the atmosphere fun. i highly recommend this place for great reasonable priced food.

Old style English pub

By Stevie_m |

Jack Dempsey's was advertised in our hotel bedroom and by showing the bedroom passkey when paying the bill gave us a nice little 15% discount off the cost. It’s a great little English style pub and the menu and food was excellent. A very fast and efficient service and great surroundings. Try the beef stroganoff it’s beautiful

Incredible service, great drinks. Food .....not so highly recommended.

By maryj101 |

We had three waiters --nice teamwork--and were never in need of anything. Excellent service. The drinks were okay --pretty decent. I do not like being upgraded to a more expensive brand without being asked, though. House gin is replaced automatically by top shelf. Not so nice. I had swordfish and it was very dry . Green beans must have come out of a can. Ugh. But the apps were pretty good, especially the hummus.

We went to Jack Dempsey’s

By Jimjim |

We went to Jack Dempsey’s for a quick drink and some wings. Ended up staying for a few hours! Our server was super nice and attentive. Drinks were pricey but that is normal for NYC. Ended up staying into the start of happy hour and beers were $5 bucks then! Great deal. Ordered the 8 piece chicken wings and it was a FULL meal! Amazing wings, huge pieces and great sauce (we had teriyaki). Looking at some of the other people’s food, everything looked good. And big sizes! Bar is pretty cool and appears to have a lot of locals.A bit out of the way but if you are in the area for something, check it out. You won’t be disappointed

Night among the Yankees Fans

By Mark P |

I was fortunate to visit this bar on the night of the 2nd and 3rd Game of the series between the Yankees and the Tigers. What a great atmosphere, food was good, the Newcastle Ale touched the right spot. The crowd went wild especially on the 10th October when the Yankees evened up the scored in the 9th with a home run, then won in the 12th with another one. I had the greatest New York experience there and thanks guys.

Mixed review

By MrsAsh21 |

My other half chose this place as he was familiar with the area, having been to Legends bar a few doors down on a previous trip. The bar was busy as there were a couple of big games on the tv, but service was quick. We ordered fish and chips and the chicken pot pie. The pie was delicious, way to big for me and gave the OH serious food envy, especially as he was disappointed with the fish which was really greasy. The food wasn't anything special, and with 3 pints of Guinness came to $74, which seemed alot for what we had

2 Great visits to Jack Demsey's!!

By buznbro15 |

My wife and I recently enjoyed a 5 night stay in NYC (Nov 9-14) and had the pleasure of going here on 2 different occasions. The first time there we were greeted by both a friendly gentleman at the door and ultimately by our server "Nora" who was fantastic! On this occasion, while enjoying a few drinks my wife had a chicken black bean burger while I had the Shepherd's pie. While my wife was not too fond of her meal (some gristle in the chicken) I thoroughly enjoyed mine. If not for the excellent service and great atmosphere, we may have thought otherwise about returning, primarily for the fact that my wife's burger was somewhat of a disappointment. In any event, we did return with an open mind a few nights later and were beyond satisfied with both the excellent service (we had Nora again) and fantastic food. On this occasion we decided to have what they call The Medley (wings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, potato skins) and curry fries. Oh man, did they redeem themselves with this spread, everything was absolutely delicious!! As a bonus, we met some fantastic people in the bar and were again, treated very well by Nora, whom I would add is a true asset to Jack Demsey's! We will definitely be back during our next visit to NYC!!!!!! Thanks for a great 2 visits!!

Real hidden gem!

Wonderful food and great atmosphere!!! Service was warm and friendly! We went for our last meal and we're not disappointed!A must do for any stay in NYC!!!

Great sports bar

By Yusuf H |

I was in the states for a business trip and I went to this bar to watch a UFC event. There was plenty of space in the venue and the bouncer at the front recommended I go a floor above to watch the fight. The atmosphere was really good, the bar staff were really friendly and down to earth and when there was some trouble with one of the customers, the staff were very quick to escort the person out, ensuring the safety of everyone else. I didn't get the chance to eat any of the food, but it looked pretty good from what I had seen. This was also my first proper solo bar experience and my only regret was not going back after the UFC event. If you're ever in NYC and you want to watch a game or just unwind a bit at a good establishment, I would highly recommend Jack Demsey's.

Atmosphere, good pub food, noisy, memorabilia display

By rmcda1 |

Boxing fans shouldn't miss it - Jack Demsey memorabilia displayed, very good food at reasonable pricing, fish n chips / bangers and mash / steaks etc. Pretty noisy pub atmosphere, but good upscale atmosphere, suitable for everyone.

Perfect for MSG event

By Marc K |

The pubs a block away from Madison Square Garden get very busy for dinner around an event. A number of other restaurants in the area are just too pricey for a quick meal and a beer. Dempsey’s is 3 blocks from the garden and seating is usually available. They have your standard Irish pub grub at comparable prices to all the other Irish pubs. The appetizer meddle was great for four of us. The burger was nice and the others liked the brisket sandwich. They do have a number of game “events” so I would double check just in case. There are two other pubs on the block so there is also a plan B and C near by if needed. Service was a little spotty, but we got out in plenty of time for our concert.

A great bar to watch the game or fight

By Steve |

Wanted to watch the UFC fight on Sat night in Manhattan. Wouldn't have any trouble finding a good spot not so crowded at home in Kansas City suburbs but this was a challenge. We got there quite early and it was already packed. We happened upon a couple leaving their seats at the bar and we took our seats. The drinks were great however expensive as everything in NYC is. So many TVs not a bad view in the house. The place was very narrow but tall. So there was 3 or 4 different floors all with their own bar. The only bad part was the single unisex restroom on each floor so we had to go all the way down to the basement level to find multiple restrooms for both men and women. When Rousey lost it was so loud and every stomped so hard we thought the place would crumble. Thank goodness it didn't. Good time.

Great pub

By Paul |

Great pub ..staff really welcoming. Food and beer very good ..we were on vacation from the UK and was recommended this place by friends. Would definitely return

Well worth a visit.

By Vincent R |

Nice pub, food great and loads of it. Staff brilliant especially the wee girl from Dungarvan, would highly recommend a visit.

Mediocre Food with Bad Service

By patton1224 |

Had the beef stout pie which was good but not great. Wine is cheap and terrible. The main problem was the waiter who say at the bar the whole meal playing with his phone and talking to the bartender. Had to finish my meal without any water to drink. Don't waste your $$.

Typically loud sports bar/ cafe

By happygoluckyUk |

If you want a quiet romantic meal this the wrong place to be. However if you want to grab a game, have a few drinks, burgers etc you are in the right place. It is what you imagine New York sports bars to be. It is an quite an experience, not one I’d want every day but at least one a month.

Average place near Empire State Building

By jaf07 |

We're recommended to come here after we had visited the Empire State Building and not sure where to eat nearby. The place is mostly a bar but has seating in the back for dinner. The bar was crowded and seemed to be a good place to drink. The decor was very neat and gave a cool atmosphere to the place. The onion soup was delcious! as was the cheeseburger. The waitresses do not write down the orders but memorize them and we had a couple mixups with our orders. Once we got our food it had seemed that our waitress had disappeared. Not a bad place to eat but probably wouldn't write home about it!

Great food & fantastic staff.

By fianna79 |

Stumbled across this bar on a recent trip to NYC and I’m so glad we did. We didn’t have drinks, we ate here..food was top class, try their chicken bacon avocado wrap with sweet potato fries (enough for 2) their sweet potato were the nicest I’ve had in all of NYC and I’ve tried a good few places. Hugo (I think that was the chaps name) was an absolute gent, he was so nice..just a genuine nice bloke, and when you’ve met people like him it makes you wanna go back or even recommend the place.

Pretty Average

By Holidayathome2011 |

We only had fries and onion rings to share which were nice but the pint of magners that I ordered was completely flat. There was no atmosphere in this bar at lunchtime and the only other people there were a small family of which a man nearly choked on his food! The service was OK, nothing formal.

Typical sports american bar

By The Lejend |

The food was average and the menu offered no special offerings. Service was spotty and the bar, at least that night was noisy which you might expect from this type restaurant.

Great place to eat and drink

By Alison B |

What a find!! My husband stumbled across this place on the way back to the hotel. The staff were great, very attentive and chatty, the food was delicious (especially the chicken curry) and they sold Magners. During our 7 night stay in NYC we visited three times and each occasion was enjoyable. Thank you xx

Had potential

By DJK |

So we came by here for a drink before going to the Empire State Building, small bar not overly big. I love old fashion and was very disappointed.

Bar first.

By JadaKayOK |

We stopped here looking for someplace to get out of the rain and grab a bit. First impression was it's more a bar than restaurant. We had to squeeze by several people enjoying happy hour. So, if you are looking for drinks, this might be the perfect place. We wanted food and were shown to a very small area in back. Could use some updating or cleaning. But, the service was sufficient. The food was good just nothing special. I had fish and chips. A friend had a burger. I did really like the tarter sauce with the fish. It had lots of dill in it. Very good. I might not stop here for food again but everyone seemed to be having a great time drinking so might stop in for one if in town again.

Great food, amazing bartenders, fantastic drinks selection

By Flann1gan |

We stopped in here to take a break in late afternoon from being tourists and ended up staying all evening. We were very well looked after by the bartender (Alan), who really knows his craft. He let us sample a wine which is brewed by Devonshire monks following a medieval recipe that is still being produced to this day. The visit made our trip and I can't recommend Alan highly enough. Slainte!

great people.

By Diana60763 |

I been at Jack Demsey's great people great food medium size but comfortable great drinks.they have Tv and they have box you pick your music they also rent for party great job customer service.

live up to the hype.

By Innuendo911 |

we were walking to see the fight this past Saturday, when we encounter JACK DEMSEY'S, we were supposed to go somewhere else, but we thought let's give this place a chance, $ 30 the get in, it was worth it. the place was pack, the service was quick, you cannot put anybody else inside the place it was pack to every inch of the room. but after couple of beers and the crowd itself make you feel like you were in Vegas, I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great time watching some games. two thumbs up , I will definitely be back. thanks for a great evening.

A home run

Absolute home run.Had chicken curry and chips , wonderful meal, as good as the old country. Fabulous pint of Guinness. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re in NYC .

1st meal on trip to NYC/CelticFC lounge

By WeeSlim |

Arrived Sunday, so I had braised lamb and trimmings... it was delicious. Folk I was with opted for nachos, filled potato skins, chicken goujons and a medley platter... they weren't too fussed. I repeat tho... mines was delicious. Atmosphere was sports bar type as France were playing Iceland. Rowdy enough for my liking... very football 👍 Took a look at their Celtic lounge, nice photos and some signed shirts.. but what was very nice was their replica European Cup. All in all I liked what I saw and ate. Keep up the good work 😉 HAIL HAIL

Stumbled across this pub while looking for a place to eat close to the Empire State Building. we ordered four different items off the menu shepherd's pie, chicken pot pie, whiskey chicken and a half pound hamburger everyone enjoyed their meal. We would definitely go back. The waitress had just come from Belfast and was only here 2 months. She recommended and commented on some of the dishes that we were about to order. She also was very helpful in pointing us in the right direction for the nearest subway. I loved her Accent. She could have fooled me, would have thought she was here her whole life.

Kentucky Wildcat must see

Great hang out for sports fans, especially UK Wildcat fans. Bar staff was super, attentive and quick. Food was great, buffalo wing sauce was best we had on trip.

Warm and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and poured a fantastic pint of Guinness. Plenty of TVs on showing baseball and other sports. Would recommend this pub to anyone visiting New York City, and indeed it is literally across the street from the Empire State Building too.

Nice Bar.

Nice friendly bar in NYC. Not overly packed and reasonably priced (for NY) Went there to watch the UFC. The barman was helpful and kept the beers flowing.
