Arrived without a reservation, place was full but my wife and I were seated right away. The service and food prep was so efficient that the customers were able to eat with ease and leave within a very reasonable amount of time, therefore waiting customers did not spend much time outside in the cold. Once seated, Billy took great care of us, helping with the menu and offering great cocktail tips. Menu is varied and very good!! Definitely on our list for future trips to NYC

We were walking around Soho and my best friend glances over and says let’s take a look at that place. We got seated immediately on their outside heated dining area. Their staff is amazing! We had the chicken kebab with couscous and chopped salad and the grilled haloumi. The homemade green hot sauce really gives things a kick! Everything was delicious! They describe the food offerings as South African Israeli Jewish Grandmother cuisine and it really delivers on that. Oh and another plus is that they play great music!

We stopped in here for breakfast on our last morning in the city. We sat at a small table at the end of the bar and unsure if we actually had a server. Had to flag down the friendly guy that had taken us to our table so we could order, a woman had filled our water but never asked if we had been helped or wanted drinks. My husband’s coffee was cold, maybe because the cup is so small when he added his shot of Baileys it cooled it off that much? Had to flag another waitress down to refill coffee to warm it up and refill waters that had been sitting empty. Good came out pretty quick once we were finally able to order. The egg, cheese and duck bacon sandwich was delicious. The side salad was just a bunch of arugula with some sort of very light dressing. M husband had the Madame Freda which was delicious and the side of arugula came out without dressing, so had to grab a random passing waitress to bring some dressing. Main courses were great, service was slow, needs a little more attention to detail.

Great brunch spot get a lil yoghurt or something bro have a mimosa baby you earned it. Coffee is nice but pancakes kind dry and they have tiny water cups but it’s a vibe the slider is a lil small too but it’s perfect size for hung over you to stomach and fix you up right away. It’s perfect it makes sense and it’s good for you.

I took a group of 30 college students to this restaurant during New York Fashion Week and Restaurant Week. The waiter was hilarious, warm, and exuded the kind of customer service that’ll make you keep coming back for more! The restaurant accommodated our large party with no reservation (thank God). Food was delicious, delivery was surprisingly fast, and my students thought this was the best restaurant of the day! Thanks for an amazing experience despite COVID restrictions.

Excellent food and service, good variety, convivial buzz. Definitely worth visiting, gets busy after 9:45 am.

We stopped by here for a drink. They have signature cocktails-and also nice wines by the glass, carafe or bottle. The place is clean & staff were very friendly.

Avoid this place. Far better options available nearby. Overpriced and poor quality. Food was brought out really quickly which always puts me off. It was only just warm and looked as if it had just been flung together without effort. Green shaksuka was watery and lacked depth of flavour. Very expensive and completely disappointing as this place gets good reviews.

If you are willing to splurge, I can recommend this restaurant,. Very popular so book ahead. Excellent food, great cocktails and great service. Lots of choices for small and large plates. Was disappointed in gf options. In the end our friend was pushed to have steak (most expensive item) with mashed potatoes. Other than that a great meal.

We went to New York October 2018 and because of Instagram there was a few places i wanted to go to this been one of them and omg the food was and service where both amazing i would highly recommend you try this place

Stay away from this location! They had horrible service… much better places to go to like Balthazar down the street!!!!

Visited as a family (5 adults)A lovely menu, fresh food - felt like a healthy alternative after feasting on NYC burgers etc. for s few days. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

This was a great experience, one of the best dining ones we had in New York. We visited NYC for the first time last week and went to various places for food but this was my favourite. Service was brilliant but would say that about most of the service we received in NYC. I had the Mediterranean breakfast and my daughter had toast with eggs. Mine was delicious and my daughter was delighted with her choice. We had that with 3 mimosas and 2 cups of coffee between us. $99 and worth every dollar. If we had that on our first day I would have revisited every day. We ate outside and when I went indoors for the toilets I did notice the noise was a tad too loud but I’m sure I would soon get accustomed to it. If you visit NYC, give Jacks wife Freda a visit!

This looks so pretty with all the flowers, right on the corner you can’t walk past. Most of the tables were taken but lucky we squeezed in. Had some delicious food, especially the pancakes and waffles. Worth a bite to eat if you are passing. Tasty.

I had breakfast here during my June 2022 trip to NYC. Lovely place to be, a vantage spot to people watch. Service was prompt and friendly. But it's always crowded and there's a queue, so you might feel the pressure and guilt of looking at the line when you sit outside trying to enjoy your meal and drinks. I mean, you don't want to eat and just leave... you want to relax a little and soak up the moment but that queue... So, be strong, and remember... it's not your fault. Then again, what do you expect? It's such a great place everybody wants to be there.

Stopped in after a bunch of shopping. Liked everything we ate. Service was very good. Might have liked more lighting at our little booth. It was hard to see the food but overall very nice!

Went this morning for my birthday . Food was lovely and staff were brilliant. When they realised it was my birthday they brought a desert with candle. Such a lovely touch . Would def recommend .

While shopping with my daughter in Soho, we wanted a good lunch away from all the shopping. We stumbled upon this spot and it was perfect! Casual atmosphere with a great menu. They also serve breakfast all day - I always LOVE that option, I had the chicken brochette with couscous and chopped salad. It was the perfect size. My daughter had the chicken schnitzel with mashed potatoes and chopped salad. Highly recommend.

We actually stumbled onto this place earlier in the day while shopping and it looked really cool and decided to make a reservation for dinner that night. So glad we did . What a cool cool place and the food was amazing. A small little hole in the wall type of place. No tourist ( except for us) but we used to live in NYC so we are really not tourist. It was great for everyone. Had my 2 college age daughters with me and they fell in Love with it. We have been back on every trip back to NYC.

Had been following them on social media for a while and this place lived up to expectation. They are great with dietary requirements, my wife is gluten free and my son has a nut and dairy allergy. Food was great, the restaurant was super busy, but the staff we always attentive and really friendly. Can’t wait to go back again!

Amazing dishes!! Different than a typical breakfast dinner in a fantastic way!! Would come again!! Highly Recommend!!!

I've been to other Jack's Wife Freda locations, but only recently hit up the Nolita location. There's a bit of a wait during busy hours, but the menu is the same. I'd say the service is better and the outdoor seating (when weather permits) is fun as well.

Visited this place a few times for brunch during our visit. Each time sat at the counter and each time got a warm friendly experience. Good choice on the menu for all day/night eating. Recommend the Green shatshuka. Bright and airy atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor options.

Great local spot in SOHO. We went for breakfast. Everything we had was really tasty. Loved the charm and design of the restaurant. We plan to go back

One of my favourites. Great food, I had eggplant and mozerella sandwich with fries and my boys had chicken- all were very tasty. Service was super helpful, smiley and the restaurant had such a great vibe- brilliant music indoors but a great place to sit outside to people watch. I loved it that much I even bought a t-shirt!

First visit to NYC, first brunch and it didn't disappoint. Loved the middle eastern influence on the menu, very friendly and attentive staff, the food was delicious, coffee re-fills, cute interior and I enjoyed the little touches everywhere. Clearly a popular place with returners and I was also recommended to come here. Only downside is it's quite pricey and it's quite a small space so they do cram a fair few people in there, but a great spot to refuel whilst exploring the areas.

Always a pleasure. The menu is very good, lots of great choices and fresh ingredients, we were able to be seated quickly and the service provided was outstanding

Decided to walk past one of my usual breakfast haunts Balthazar and go to JWF. Glad I did. Sat at the counter. Good all day menu. I had the Green Shakshuka which was very good. First waiter a bit wooden. Second excellent. Good vibe. Plenty of choice. Great value.

Good place to have breakfast. We had a waffle and it was very tasty, very well made. The staff was incredibly nice. I did find prices a little bit high, though, but I highly encourage anyone that wants to try this place nonetheless.

Liked this place - get there early for breakfast as long queues. Great breakfast options and the decor lovely - very photogenic. Portions not massive though - more toast would be good.

Everyone was very welcoming, food was amazing! One of my favorite places when visiting the city! I love the waffles with the fresh fruit.

Visited December 2018 - for breakfast - this place is hugely popular ... it’s tight! (you could be forgiven for saying it was cramped) but very friendly - service is quick efficient, ‘jolly’ and enthusiastic, staff have a confident attentive witty persona - that’s a good thing! when we went it was absolutely buzzing - quite nosey with guests chatting ... and people waiting at the door for a free table. Food was very acceptable, cost pretty much as everywhere else

Great lunch spot in Soho. Varied menu, great food (try the fried zucchini) and ample outdoor seating.

The place is amazing and their food just yummy. And i am satisfied with their hospitality that they have shown with their services.

I ordered the avocado toast and they served the type of pre-packaged guacamole you buy from a supermarket on top of a thin slice of cold bread that tasted stale and half the plate was covered in French fries and they charged $20 for this subpar meal? My husband’s $25 burger was smaller than the ones you get at McDonalds. Shame on them. This place gets hyped a lot and it’s not worth the money they charge. Service was slow too.

Popular place but nothing special. I didn’t like what I ordered at all which was the vegetables and couscous with curry. It had heat with a tomato taste. My daughter said it was like spicy ketchup. No depth of flavor. In addition parts were burning hot while others were freezing cold. Seemed like it was premade then frozen and defrosted. My husband and daughter had something with eggs both dishes were ok. Not a reason to go back. Service was great. Waiter was very nice and food came quick.

Atmosphere does half the job, food and staff the rest. Totally loved this place for brunch after the gym. Great food, good advice from the staff who were also entertaining me at the bar seen I was alone. So a stormy day in nyc became a beautiful morning. Enjoyed my waffle with bacon and coffee

Just discovered it out and about walking 🚶 Very nice place. Friendly staff and would definitely recommend ❤️ love the postcard to nice touch x

Terrible service as in sitting there for ages completely forgotten about. The food was at best mediocre and it was service with a grimace

I'm never coming back I went with my son and wife The only dish that was good was my son's (fries and fried chicken) My wife's and mine's lousy, in total we spent over $100. I don't recommend it. Excellent waiter's attention

We went on Wednesday 27 September - around 11:15am. We got in as there was no line and it was a sunny day, we chose to sit outside, 2 chairs facing the road (the right section of the front area - if you are facing the entrance). The waiter was okay at the start but he was busy and so we had to keep calling him for order, water, etc. the food was good, especially the tuna salad - Probably one of the best we’ve had - albeit portion wise their dishes are quite small. Since we are visiting from overseas and it was a nice sunny day, we had ask our waiter to see if he can help take a photo of us. He said: i’ll come back to you on that. 35 minutes later, also after we finished our meal, He walked past us and asked: do you still want that photo? We said: yea sure why not, please thank you. Then i passed him my phone and at that time - there are lines (waiting for tables), behind him, he turned facing the lines and said: It’s not like my job to take photos as well, and laughed sarcastically, while half of the people in line were laughing as us because we are tourists asking pictures. Had he not want to help take a photo, that is not a problem for us at all and will change our reviews and stars. His attitude absolutely ruined our experience at Jack’s wife Frieda itself unfortunately. We are frequent travellers, foodie as well and i must say his attitude is simply rude.

Stopped in for brunch by 2pm on 11/10/24. We sat outside as it was too loud inside that our 9 yo might have a hard time hearing conversations at the table. This was our 3rd time to this location but numerous times in other places in Manhattan and Brooklyn. We shared the delicious zucchini chips, then ordered chicken prego sandwich, chicken schnitzel and avocado Smash/toast. I had a Bloody Mary then a draft beer, however my pint glass had a really big chip on the rim, had to summon the woman who served me, as she stated, “I don’t know how I could’ve missed that…” new beer delivery promptly. Food was good and drinks were tasty.

After coming here many times and leaving because of the long que , this time we decided to wait for a table and we were not disappointed. High quality food, excellent cold beer and above all the perfect service. Warmly recommended!!

We went for breakfast as a family and everything was delicious, the zucchini waffles were very tasty, very good service that makes you want to come back again and again, the entire menu is top quality, another aspect that makes it highly recommended is that it was open twenty-four hours, I It seems that it has several branches, but the one we went to was New York, the only thing it has against it is that the place is very small, apart from that, all the workers are very attentive at all times, we loved it, we only waited twenty minutes for them to come to us They will assign a table but it was really worth it, they attended us quickly and of very good quality.

Complete and very refined brunch. Clean place and courteous staff. Good quality of food, prices average with the standard of the city. Cozy atmosphere. We booked on the site and recommend it, there was quite a queue when we arrived. For brunch we ordered the dishes independently, there was no dedicated option as is often found in Milan.

Footsore and leg weary, we dropped in here for a late lunch. Busy, friendly place with a good menu and great staff. Simple things, beer, burgers and cocktails for us, though there are more sophisticated things if you want them. Terrific all day breakfast menu. Enjoyed it so much we went back a few days later and had another really good meal. Straightforward, unpretentious and very good value for its location.

It was snowing, it was raining, it was windy and this was our solace!!! Very good service and a breakfast menu a bit different from the usual ones. The waffles with yoghurt and fresh fruits are very yummy and, as usual generous portions…will be getting fat soon!!!

Cero accommodating! Food has small portions! But most importantly service is terrible! They have a lot of issues with big parties, they don’t want to split check! Attitude of the server was terrible! Think twice if you are going with more than 3 persons!

While exploring New York City with my partner , we stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. If you have a sweet tooth, this waffle is a must-try! The combination of strawberries, blueberries, and the texture of the waffle is the best in the world. But it was little bit pricey though...

Another great place that was mentioned to visit. We came here for brunch and did have to wait a while but definitely worth the wait. Everything and I mean everything we had was delicious. They are making the best with the space they have so it is a little tight. We would have gone back but unfortunately we flew out that evening.

The food was really excellent, specially the salmon burger. There are kids menu, and gives you a very useful activities’ kit for them.

We visited after this restaurant was recommended to us several times by several people and it matched the hype. Great food, drink and seating and the service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend

It looks nice from the outside and inside, also the food was tastfull. The services was not that good they already took our plate while we were still eating and immediately gave us the bill which made me feel very unwelcome. Im very upset cause the bill was 58$ and because of the bad services i wrote down 1$ tip. When I got back at the hotel I was just checken my bank account and noticed they took 70,36$ from my account!!!! This is not what I expected and made my experience bad. Unfortunately i couldnt go back cause I was going home the next day.

My boyfriend brought food back from the Chelsea location and WOW. Four pieces of chicken for the chicken kebab for like $28 or something? Terrible food portions.

Stunning street side cafe seating with a great continental vibe and deliciously refreshing cocktails and tasty small plate tapas style dishes with an exceptional variety to chose from

The food is fine, but every dish is the size of a side dish and the prices are deceptively astronomical. It’s not about the affordability, it’s about taken for a fool.

If you are looking for a good brunch spot with a lively crowd and staff that has charm and sass, this is the place for you. Whatever you get, ask for a side of the hot sauce, it’s delicious and the espresso martini was the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to visit again next time in nyc.

Great food and ambience! Got the salmon with the house salad, and it was delicious. Our waitress Mariana was amazing, and super knowledgeable. She gave us amazing recommendations for the city later on. Will definitely be back. The chocolate dessert was unreal!

I went to Jack's wife freda after hearing a lot about it. When i got there for lunch it was full so i had to wait about 15 min's for a seat at the bar. Inside it was very noisy (people talking loud), many people in a small space trying to talk to eachother....not a great experience i think. However the food was good (i had a chicken sandwich) and the staff was friendly.

I couldnt wait to try bruching here but the food was far from being tasty. The only good thing was the pancake.

Visited recently for lunchtime drinks and great service and atmosphere. We weren’t eating but food looked great. Bar staff making cocktails very friendly and entertaining. Recommended.

We - a family of nine people - visited the restaurant for brunch and sat on the sidewalk cafe. Service was quick, friendly and efficient, and we felt welcome. All the food was delicious, well prepared and fresh and tasted impeccable. One can only recommend the place for both the food and services and not least the possibility of sucking the genuine New Yorker atmosphere in the street.

Tiny, packed and hot, but absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed the melon mimosas, the breakfast bowl, the grapefruit & yogurt, the mustard seed crusted tofu and Jack’s burger. Juices are great, really a fun spot for brunch!

Great food at this restaurant - my husband said the lamb was one of the best meals he’s ever had. The service was excellent - friendly staff who looked after us well.

Came here with my girlfriend for a brunch. Excellent service, excellent waffles. Fruit was fresh and tasty, coffee wasn't watery. It's exactly what you want from a brunch. It's very busy all the time, I would suggest making a reservation.

We were 4 adults and 4 small kids! And the restaurant made us feel so welcome and gave the kids coloring crayons and stickers. We had a delicious meal and overall a great experience here. I would def say this is a family friendly restaurant with delicious food.

This restaurant gets so much hype and our experience was our only negative food experience in New York. The food was mediocre at best. Waitress did not bring our coffee until after meal I had the waffle. It was ok. Sort of luck warm with a bit of yogurt on top and some berries. Sister had a spicy egg dish - and she didn’t like . Not much more to say. You sit at a small table next to people - but we knew that going in and that wasn’t the issue. It was. The food and service (on a Friday morning) and definitely not worth the cost

This is our first time back to NYC post Covid and we were so glad to see our favourite breakfast venue was still there and had successfully expanded. We have always followed on insta from 2013 and came every year up to lockdown. We loved the story behind the restaurant and its first in Lafayette was charming with great service, quirky staff and exceptional food. We were so disappointed on our visit to see how for us, the old charm has been lost. It felt like being on a conveyor belt with some staff not engaged and disinterested. Gone are the memorable stripy t shirts to the staff now wearing merchandise at extortionate prices. The food on the whole is still good quality but portions reduced in size, so not great value. Sourdough toast should not be wafer thin and hard. Main thing we noticed was the hike in service charges with automatic 20% added to bill which for us was an extra $45. It is not the customers fault that staff have to be subsidised by gratuity. The service this time was not worth $45 although we paid it, so as not to feel embarrassed but no customer should feel like this. We always tip but it should be based on your experience not on a percentage of what the restaurant thinks it is worth (this comment applies to any restaurant adopting this method). It is such a shame how things have changed and whilst I applaud success, you should not forget the customers who have always supported you.

Stubbled on this restaurant in Soho on a NT trip. Food was amazing, service was great and this is such a unique restaurant.

Tasty but slightly rude staff and very small portions. I need up going elsewhere to have another breakfast after. The coffee was very good though.

My friend and I visited here a few weeks ago for lunch. Although it was a late lunch, the restaurant was still packed and it was a weekday. We waited a while for an indoor seat. It was a beautiful day, but there was no way we would be able to get an outdoor seat. For lunch, my friend had the tuna salad. It was good, but a little plain. I had the grilled eggplant baguette. It was tasty, but definitely could ha e used more pesto and tapenade. I barely tested either. Otherwise, the service was good and friendly, and the restaurant itself is cute. I would probably come back. Seems like a good place for brunch.

We came here with a small group for breakfast . I was disappointed with everything. All of the things we ordered were just blah nothing was truly worth mentioning.

Our experience at Jack's Wife Freda in Soho was absolutely awful. We were there on a Friday night, and although the place was not full, the noise was almost unbearable. We couldn't talk amongst ourselves, or to the servers, without yelling. Then, one of the servers kept pouring tap water into my glass that had sparkling water that I had ordered (not free). We ordered our dinner, then waited almost an hour. When we asked about when our food would arrive, we were told that they had simply forgotten to put our order in. At that point, we left.

A great place for lunch in the West Village! We had the eggplant sandwich and the lamb kebobs. Service was terrific; very nice and welcoming.

The staff are very friendly and amazing. Me and my fiancé ate brunch here, and it was so good that we came back twice afterwards. You can sit inside and outside (with lamps warms the area).

We loved our visit here this morning. The service was excellent, great food with lovely presentation. The best place we visited for food so far on our trip.

Brilliant vibe, top quality service, delicious drinks (the homemade fresh cantaloupe juice was outstanding) and excellent food (all 4 of our dishes were yum)

We visited here on our first morning in NYC and it didn’t disappoint. The staff were uber friendly, the vibe was great and the food was amazing. Options to suit all tastes and some great healthy options available. I went for the Maya breakfast bowl and would certainly say that is probably the best breakfast I have ever had: it was lots of food but it was healthy and it kept me going all day! The guy was also on top service bringing around the tap water and my glass didn’t go empty for longer than a few seconds!! Would defo recommend for a tasty healthy breakfast. Good value for money and I would definitely return (I wish we had one at home!)

We were seated promptly for our 9:45 am breakfast and ordered, our meal was delivered within five minutes! The fresh squeezed watermelon juice was incredible and eggs were scrambled perfectly. Spectacular service.

We went to the Chelsea location and it did not disappoint! Jason our waiter was incredibly helpful, informative, attentive and jolly. The food was delicious, very generous portions and lovely coffee to finish. A super experience

Very tasty dishes but in some cases a little small, highly recommended for families and groups of friends up to 6 people

Food is good; breakfast/brunch is dependably fresh and interesting. Friendly staff and convenient location. BUT depending on the time of day you go there, you may want to bring earplugs…. It is so noisy. Every sound reverberates through the place. Even people sitting across the table from one another have to speak with a raised voice.

This place is awesome! Wish they had more ethnic foods tho as the menu tends to be very regional year unethically exquisite. Marvelous.

The waitress was very friendly and the food was very tasty and delicious the essence of fresh food is here with a different variety of breakfast lunch and dinner I highly recommend

A little piece of paradise for waffle lovers! Crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, with toppings that flirt with perfection. An explosion of flavors that makes you say "again" every bite.

Small restaurant serving lovely food. Friendly staff and very good service. I had zucchini chips with paprika aioli, then the vegetable curry and finished with the fruit crisp. Everything was delicious.

What a delightful spot! We happened in for a beverage and some appetizers. The restaurant is adorable. The drinks and food are amazing. The staff clearly loves they jobs. So refreshing to visit such a lovely establishment. Our server Lucy was the best! We'll definitely be back!

It was my first time traveling outside the country and I'm not really familiar with he foods here. But thankfully I encountered this restaurant and the food was amazing and good!

The food was spectacular, the service fantastic and it has a great vibe. From the host to the wait staff, everyone was so kind and engaged.

Rushed poor service, you need to ask the waiter to come back all the time. noise is unbearable, food is so average normal. Find somewhere else to eat.

I tried their steak and fries which was so ymmy. I recommend this place to anyone Ii n New York looking for a great place to we at. It was a bit crowded tho

JWF's menu tells the story of foods from Israel, South Africa as well as New York's Jewish foods. I had their fluffy Rosewater Waffles with fresh berries, Lebanese yogurt drizzled with honey syrup. Hospitable staff.

Very friendly welcome, beautiful restaurant with pleasant decor and satisfactory space to eat. In terms of breakfast, very good, hot and well presented.

Decided to try it out this morning for breakfast. Service is ok, one of the waiter can’t seem to know how to smile and he is on top of another waiter shadowing (overshadowing in my opinion) him. Food wise it was “ok” $15 for two incredibly thin haloumi slice, two poached egg and a small slice of bread that was rock hard by the way seems a bit pricey. (I had had to zoom to make it look barely descent on the photo) Ice coffee was ok but nothing to rave about. I don’t think I ll be coming back here

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a good meal and a pleasant conversation, this restaurant is not the right choice. From the moment we walked in, the music was so loud that it was impossible to talk without shouting. Instead of creating a nice atmosphere, the noise made the experience stressful and uncomfortable. We tried asking the staff to lower the volume a bit, but we were met with an even worse attitude: the so-called “manager” denied being in charge and, instead of offering a solution, basically told us to just deal with it. Since when is a lack of consideration for customers a restaurant policy? The food is regular , but when the environment is unbearable and the service is rude and indifferent, everything else takes a back seat. If your idea of a night out is shouting just to be heard and receiving dismissive responses, go ahead. But if you’re looking for a place that truly values customer experience, avoid this place.

Breakfast was amazing! Tasty and healthy options -everything made fresh! Recommend this as your first stop! So good!

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. We just ordered a range of starters and that was sufficient for us as we have found most main meals in the USA have been too big for us. The food was really tasty and the beers were good too!

While walking around this neighborhood you tend to need a little refresher. Perfect place. Definitely a spot to people watch, out door seating for two. Busy intersection, and easy to access I see they have breakfast options but it was mid day and a few spritzer, smoked wings, Truffle fries and Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese. Nice Clean And staff was freaking awesome Thumbs up to making our day.

We love this place, it was really tasty and good, fresh and a good service. When we are in ny again , we will come back

Really nice Servers... Staff was Fast And Excellent. Only place I could find Matzoh Ball Soup on The Menu in the Soho Location. Soup tasted like Dishwater!!! All The Food looked and smelled good. 2 12 oz. containers of Soup cost $30 and tasted horrible! the Matzoh Balls were terrible.... Avoid this if you are a fan of New York City style Matzoh Ball soup... You May be disappointed!

Very tasty , yummy breakfast joint that opens at 830am. I had the Maya’s breakfast bowl and it was perfectly seasoned with a tasty spicy avocado based dressing. Highly recommended

Wei is a phenomenal server. Was there every time we needed him. He was quick. And had immense knowledge on everything on the menu. A props to the bartender! The drinks were good as well!

A large dog sat inside the restaurant and at a communal table (dog had it's own seat). The dog licked the plate of a stranger sitting next to it. What is going on NYC!!! The man was so shocked he had no words. The owner acted like "no big deal". I will NEVER return. We are losing our standards.

Took my sons here for breakfast. Sat at the counter. Staff are great. Food is great. Lots of choice. Had the green shakshuka. You will not be disappointed.

Great place to start my mornings or stop for an afternoon snack. Delicious food! Wonderful service! Also a good option for a brunch in NY

Oh my god the food here is unbelievable. We both had the jacks breakfast/steak and eggs. It was expensive (nearly $30 a portion and the portion was quite small, for two people who are very big eaters) but the steak was honestly one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. I don’t know what they season the steak with but I need to know. The staff were absolutely lovely and our waiter made a real effort to speak with us and have a bit of a laugh. A must visit for brunch

Ate here on a miserable rainy night, but the place was packed. Great playlist and despite some reviews, we didn't find it too noisy, lively yes but we could talk without shouting. Servers are friendly and know their stuff and service is prompt. There's a small selection of quality wines and beers and the food is really good. My burger was cooked to perfection and Sue's schnitzel was moist with delicious creamy mash. Great value for money

Very nicely decorated. You are seated. Because of the height of the ceilings and the size of the room it is very loud. The service is fast. The food was really delicious. Next time I would order the Chardonnay in the bottle.

Very restricted menu for lunch and completely overpriced. Plates are far from hearty. 105$ for two plates and 2 coffees that we shared with our children for lunch.

The menu is Interesting , my lunch was delicious, and the staff was friendly. So what was wrong….the volume! The music was blaring, which made the diners shout to be heard. It was impossible to carry on a conversation and I was having a catch-up lunch with a good friend. When I walked in I nearly walked back out but we did not have time to look for another lunch spot. (It was the Chelsea location) Sadly it was a total turnoff for me, and I doubt I’ll be back. Maybe in the warm weather when outdoor dining resumes, but never again indoors.

We decided on a starter, I found the starter particularly tasty at first but as I kept going on I realised my stomach had been enlarged, making it hard for my husband to not make fun of my enormous stomach (keep in mind I’m only 12 stone). As the main arrived myself and my husband had been quite full has the plates had been very large, we ordered a beautiful dish of grilled fish with a side of chips ( or as Americans may say fries ) while my beautiful husband had ordered Spaghetti with meatballs we both found these dishes exquisite although my stomach had kept getting bigger we then settled for a waffle as a desert very slimming. Overall the food was very good but I wish it was smaller platters as I couldn’t bare the fact of my stomach getting so big and full with just the starter 😱

Gem of a New York place! This is what it feels like to have a cool New York vibe. Place is tiny and intimate tucked away on Lafayette . Staff couldn’t be more courteous, helpful and just all around a pleasure! Had a fabulous Margherita and the grilled fish was delish-grilled halloumi amazing and couscous was fluffy and light and delish. South African pudding dessert also amazing. Definitely a recommend if your coming to New York and pretty reasonable for nyc standards. Do make a reservation! We r definitely coming back!

Excellent food and service , I will highly recommend this place , if I came be back I will definitely come back. Thanks so much food good food servings

I took a Mediterranean Breakfast and found the portions, especially the bread (four small triangles) ridiculously small. Moreover, the noise level was such, in the University Place location, that any conversation was impossible.

Such a adorable place for brunch! Especially in the nice weather they have some outdoor seating as well. The food is yummy and so are the drinks! There's always a long wait so either get there early or just put your name down and walk around soho for a bit. Worth the wait. @traveleen_gurl

The absolute New York dream! Mediterranean/ Jewish inspired menu with all the best goodies. Zucchini chips a must. Hubby had Jack’s breakfast, steak was perfectly cooked to order. I had waffles and the rosewater came through just the right amount. Service was prompt and attentive without being rushed, really great. Would definitely recommend and will return! We walked past on a sunny Sunday and it was extremely busy, didn’t bother standing in the queue. Went on a rainy Monday and walked straight in. For info. Also it’s really quite loud in there so not ideal for a cute date or if you need to talk but pretty much perfect for a hungover brunch when you actually just want to listen to the world go by!

We came for a family aperitif and after consuming 2 beers and a lemonade we were literally chased away because according to them the place was 'very full' when in reality there were numerous empty tables.

This was our best restaurant experience during our 6 day New York vacation. The service was excellent. Friendly, helpful with recommendations, prompt. I wish I knew the name of our server - slim, blond girl. She is very good at her job. We sat on the patio which provided a great view of the street and the action. Our meals and drinks were flavourful. Menu options were unique but not weird. I am so glad we tried this place. If it was not our last day in NYC, we would go again.

My daughter took me as she had been there before. Went for breakfast. Lovely small vibey restaurant. I had the poached eggs with halloumi, avocado and sour dough toast. Delicious. Had a Nona hot tea with mint. My daughter had the green shakshoka which she enjoyed. Had a Bloody Mary. Highly recommend it

Really cozy atmosphere both because of the decor and the staff, who both together with the guests and with each other create a very special good atmosphere. The food is really delicious and fresh.

Great casual and buzzing place. Wonderful selection of dishes. The atmosphere is perfect. Tasty selections from meditteranean and traditional diner food.

Super popular brunch spot in Soho. Highly recommend although the menu could be more varied to accommodate allergies and vegans. Great atmosphere and great service.

Very good Mediterranean flavor, customers have a good dining experience, and the service is also very good. Breakfast is the signature of New York. Simple food matching becomes very delicious food

Not a long wait for brunch, it was just the two of us! Sat at a long table with others. The Bloody Marys were fantastic! The service was even better! Once we left, there was a wait. I would suggest getting there as early as you can.

Visited here on a trip from the UK as we had heard great things about the brunch. Food was delicious, service attentive. Note you can’t book for two people, we arrived for opening time and the place was soon full shortly after so would definitely recommend getting there early. Overall would recommend and would love to return if in NYC again.

I had a salmon burger with a salad: everything was good. I also had a bite of a waffle: good but not so crispy.

This is a chain with lots of outlets in Manhattan. The general ambience is good. But the food he is only just "ok" and does not justify the prices charged. The eggs were cheap and looked washed out. Either way, not much taste

I had a great salmon burger With a fresh cantaloupe juice .. Friendly staff It looks like a good breakfast or lunch place .. nice and good food

I waited for about 20min for a solo spot at the bar... SO WORTH IT! Small but super fabulous vibe for brunch. Amazing decaf americano! Service was on point even as busy as they were. I ordered the Madame Freda and was NOT disappointed. Try it!! Definitely a fun place to eat!

Visited the Soho branch and was a bit early, yet we were accommodated. Sat outdoors, which has a good ambience. Had the duck bacon sandwich, which was excellent, and the kids' spaghetti with tomato sauce was very tasty.

I was excited to come here for brunch having discovered it somewhere on Instagram whilst down a usual insta rabbit hole! I loved the decor and the general vibe but found the food disappointing. New York is in my eyes the home of the brunch so I was surprised how mediocre this one was given that it is I assume first and foremost a brunch spot. I had the baked eggs with the delicious green sauce (just nowhere near enough of it) I fell hook line and sinker for the feta and avocado up-sell but was disappointed when they arrived on a side plate rather than incorporated into my breakfast. The presentation of the whole meal just felt a bit sad and lack lustre. Sadly I won’t be returning. Cool spot just doesn’t quite deliver :-/

I invited my friends from Chicago to join me for a Saturday lunch at this restaurant, as it happens to be one of my personal favorites. They were thoroughly impressed with both the delectable food and the delightful desserts. It's advisable to arrive early on weekends, as the place tends to fill up rapidly, although the waiting time is generally not too lengthy, despite the intimidating queues. Don't hesitate to give this place a try; it's truly remarkable. Additionally, the staff members are friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall enjoyable experience.

Ordered takeout & really enjoyed the food. Got spaghetti squash (which had so much flavor) with tofu and really enjoyed the dish. We also got chicken kabobs and the side salad was delicious. Also recommend getting the zucchini chips!

Delicious fresh food - great variety on the menu - offering breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. Waitress was so pleasant. A bit of the Med in Manhattan.

Quite expensive but nice. Rose water Waffle and fresh fruit but not a lot of fruit for $13. No coffee refill and we were just on Americanos.

This restaurant is very nice for a late lunch or breakfast before a day of shopping in SoHo. It’s airy with a generous selection.

Fun place to hang out on a Saturday night. Drinks and dessert. Fast attentive service. Sitting outside allows a lot of people watching. Recommend for great service and NY ambience.

Found by accident on a shopping trip around Soho. Tasty food and an enthusiastic waiter. Prices a little high but we devoured our food!

I love Jacks Wife Frieda but after today I will no longer be giving my business to the soho location. The service we received today was horrible. Ordered takeout and waited outside over 30+ minutes for our order to eventually find out it had been sitting there all along. Not once did anybody feel the need ask if we had been helped while we’re just standing outside waiting like idiots for no reason apparently. Finally after going to inquire about where my food was …we find out it had been just sitting there, assuming it was awhile because the food wasn’t even hot anymore at that point. The person who took the order did not even ask for a name and some random name was written on the bag and the host had nerve to ask if we had paid for the order at that (not the first time he’s been rude) Not sure what’s going on with your staff but they suck and are rude and I will not be returning to this location after this. Used to be great but has definitely changed.

This is a very nice place, buzzing, friendly people. Just a very nice New York experience. Food was delicious and waiters very friendly.

amazing food, service, ambience!! Its a well run restaurant, allot of tables inside and outside. Great atmosphere and the food is very good. Fresh Nana Tea!

My husband and I arrived very hungry and quite late after a concert and werewarmly welcomed (Kate and Jered) and had a terrific dinner. We clearly kept them late after a long day and they were absolutely the BEST. Highly recommend this place- great people, food and atmosphere. Thanks!!

Lovely atmosphere off the tourist trail worth a visit. Dishes with a trust to remember. We even bought the recipe book 👍👍

Restaurant location is amazing. Very tasty food. We took pasta and appetizers and just enjoyed every bite. It is recommended not to give up dessert (an amazing chocolate cake). Excellent service . Of course we'll come back again. They have 3 location ... and we will going to check them all for sure . Thank about lovely dinner

I love breakfast for dinner, excellent prices and nice location, puffy waffles and very nice coffee, I wanna taste all the menu

The menu has a little something for everyone- sandwiches, all-day breakfast, and salads. Their bread is especially good. Even though it is not very healthy, order their french fries, they fantastic. Nice cocktail list and great service.

Quaint little spot, good food, good vibes, low key celebrity sighting. Everyone there was great! Really seem to care that we were having a great time and meal!

I was looking for a place to enjoy my weekend breakfast and I found this lovely place. Since I am a vegetarian, I like to keep my diet in local restaurants and this restaurant has a great selection of vegetarian dishes. I chose the Mediterranean breakfast that has a mix of fresh vegetables with slight touch with a few drops of lemon.

We discovered Jack’s Wife Freda when we were looking for a place to have breakfast. We were not disappointed by this find! We had a great breakfast: Jack’s Breakfast and Poached Eggs with Roasted Tomato and Haloumi. Our dishes were delicious! The servers were very nice. I highly recommend this place for a breakfast/brunch.

Nice atmospheric bistro, good lighting. Overkill to staff, served quickly. But good portions, tasteful. Table water is refilled every x. Price/quality too good Only minus t draught beer, there was 0 foam on it.

Great brunch just had the Jack's burger and the veggie mediterrian, all very good, great service and good buzz in the place

The meal is really good, including the taste, the outlook and also the combination of the different materials. And also the environment makes me feel really relaxing and comfortable.

Excellent! The food, the service, everything was super good! It fills up so you'll have to wait a bit... but it's worth it.

We were wandering in the West Village looking for the perfect, restaurant to spend a nice mid-afternoon respite for our long walk. I am talking about the one on Carmine street, not in Soho as you might think from the above address.) We were going to just look at Jack's Wife Freda and go to another place nearby. I couldn't resist the name and had to know how that came about. But we stopped to read the menu and decided to try it. SO glad we did. We found: Delicious, beautifully plated, perfectly cooked food! an Extremely wonderful service team!!, and a Fun atmosphere, even if it was initially loud (that lessened after an extremely large gathering left). Wish they would open another outpost in our neighborhood. Congrats to the owners, chefs and wait staff - we will return!

So good. So good. The chicken schnitzel is amazing. And I’m a tough critic on this. Matzo ball soup is very good as are the salads. Service was great. Price is right. Schnitzel is perfect.

We had a great brunch here and really enjoyed the atmosphere. A beautiful menu which reminded us of a Melbourne cafe back home. A great all rounder spot.

Had lunch there and the food was pretty good, service slow but the place was busy. Overall a good pit stop and do recommend a visit.

We went early 9:30am on a Saturday to avoid the lines and were seated immediately. This is such a fun spot with a great atmosphere. Had the waffles and poached eggs. Delicious. Outdoor dining is perfect when the sun is out. Go here!

We found this small friendly place on the internet as it was walking distance from our hotel. And I liked the name! Enjoyed a delish dinner of chicken and mash from a small but excellent menu. A tumbler of white wine washed it down ! We went early, by 6pm it was busy with the locals popping in after work. Basic no frills good well prepared food.

Fresh watermelon and cantaloupe juice at $10 each cut with water and grilled Halumi at $16 for a baby plate which consisted of a poor little slice of grilled Hallumi! Quite simply a scam, not to mention the ultra noisy terrace with the metro just below which passes every minute! So flee.

Very much enjoyed delicious meal in a relaxed casual environment. The service was prompt and friendly. Loved the halloumi and peri peri chicken, but fish was the star if the show. Negroni was strong as was tea. Very flavorful spiced cheesecake. Versatile place, all day menu, stop for a quick bite or dinner with friends. Good for groups in particular.

This is a great, fun restaurant with comfortable ambiance and good food. I took off one star because the cocktails we ordered were surprisingly bad. The spicy chocolate desert is the best desert I ever had. Vegetarian and children-friendly. We came with a big group and the servers handled our many requests with ease. I will definitely be back.

This is an incredible destination for a farm-to-table lunch or brunch experience. The menu features fresh, locally sourced ingredients that truly stand out. One highlight you absolutely must try is the duck bacon—it's exceptional and adds a unique flavor to the meal. Whether you're dining with friends or family, this place offers a delightful culinary experience that shouldn't be missed.

I was at this establishment, the food was very delicious, and the staff was pleasant. I am completely satisfied and highly recommend it to everyone
A must visit when in NYC!
Loved Jack’s wife Freda! Great spot in Soho for either breakfast lunch or dinner. You’ll love it regardless of what you eat. The food and cocktails are fantastic and the service great. A must try when in NYC.
