The food is excellent. I have been here two times. The staff is really nice but the second time one girl was not so friendly and a little impatient. The rest of the staff was very guest friendly I stay in the hotel in the same building so that is very convenient. 7 dollars for a beer is quite high but i guess it is a normal price in the usa.

What a find! This is off the beaten path if you don't live in Washington Heights. The hotel hosting the restaurant is new, modern and hip. The restaurant inside is beautiful and the outdoor patio great! The Dominican menu was excellent. The food was delicious. They have live music Thursday-Sunday; we'll be back for the music. This spot is great for everyday and for special occasions.

Food was delicious. We had the crispy pork happy hour appetizer and the beef empanada also on the happy hour list. We also had the chichatone de Mar appetizer. For mains we each had a different delicious dish including the skirt steak, coconut fish and mofongo. Drinks were okay. Could have been stronger. Great ambiance and would definitely go back again.

Went for a girls night dinner, and everything was amazing! There's a DJ on Saturday night, so the music and ambiace is great. The food and drinks were delicious, and our server, Cynthia, was so sweet and helpful. I would definitley recommend for a celebration, or just a family dinner.

Located in the ground floor of the Radio Hotel. The team behind the decor did a great job incorporating elements of Dominican culture and Washington Heights. The food is a great representation of upscale Dominican cuisine. The Pecao frito is so tasty and well done to a crispiness that isn't soggy at all. They also offer two rounds of Happy Hour (5-7pm and 10p - 12a) with specials and bites.

If you are in New York and want to enjoy a brunch with all the Dominican flavor, Jalao, at the Radio Hotel in Washington Heights, is the ideal place. The atmosphere is spacious, colorful and perfect to relax while enjoying authentic dishes and delicious drinks. We start with a special drink of red Valentine's fruits, an excellent option to start at noon with something refreshing. Then, we tasted the chocolate bread, a spicy and delicious hot chocolate, ideal for starting brunch. Cheddar-filled yuka bonbonbons, which were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, were my favorite. Then came the main courses of the brunch menu: the Chimi sandwich, a juicy burger with white and purple cabbage, mayonnaise, ketchup and nicely browned fries, and the Three Strikes, a classic and concise dish with mashed bananas, fried eggs, fried cheese, salami and palta. All with plenty of flavor and more than generous portions. In addition to the food, Jalao has a super complete drinks menu, ideal to accompany any dish. And the service is impeccable: Yanina attended us with a lot of kindness and good vibes, which made the experience even better. Jalao is a perfect place for a different brunch in New York, with amazing food, great drinks and a vibrant atmosphere. I will definitely be back🇩🇴🤍

Omg, we had so much fun at This restaurant. The food was evily decadently delicious. Do not plan on saving any calories here. We had beef empanadas fantastic, bacon cheeseburger juicy, enough fries to feed half of New York, Pollo chicharron - absolutely delicious crunchy and perfectly cooked, fresh sassy cocktails... We ate at the restaurant two times and ordered some snacky room service once. The staff can be a little bit distracted but they're kind and make immediate corrections. The manager is really nice as well. You can order food for pickup or take out but I hope people actually eat in as we did twice because it's such nice ambience. Bright happy decor and there's a gigantic patio area complete with stage!!!

The place is beautiful. Very well done. The food is very good. The problem at the place is the employees. A shame this place could go to a waste. I went there for my anniversary waiting for a beer and a drink so we decided to leave after 20 mins not drinks, not even water. The next day my friend wanted to go and asked me to give jalao a second chance and I did. We sat outside. Very nice day to be outside. We asked for a bottle of water that took forever to come; waiting for the waiter to come back to order drinks. Drinks took a while to come and the food too. Like I said before the food is great but if you have not patience to wait for drinks and food don’t go to this place. Service sucks in there. Wish they will do something about it. I like the environment but they not the way place is being run.

I can’t rate the food or drink at Jalao because we ended up leaving. But the service was really lousy. It started with the hostesses, both of whom were clearly hired for their looks rather than English-speaking ability (I get that it’s a Dominican restaurant, but it IS in America…) We arrived for the advertised happy hour, but they seemed confused. One of them finally said, “We don’t have happy hour.” Were they mistaken? Didn’t understand the question? The hotel clearly advertises a happy hour, and one of the other reviewers below has mentioned going at that time, so who knows why they were confused. We then asked to be seated in the courtyard outside. They responded, “We don’t serve food outside.” We could literally see servers attending to tables of diners in the courtyard through the glass doors behind the hostess station, but we were getting frustrated trying to communicate with them, so we didn't argue. They offered that if we wanted to eat outside, we could order food and drinks at the bar and then carry them to a table outside (we had to ask them to repeat what they were saying a couple of times to understand what they were suggesting). We weren’t thrilled by their confusion or proposed solution, but the weather was very nice and we wanted to sit outside, so we agreed. After sitting for over five minutes at a not-very-busy bar without the bartender even acknowledging us, we gave up on Jalao and decided to look for dinner elsewhere.
Amazing Dinner Experience
What an experience! I planned my birthday dinner at this place with my 11 guests and everything was exceptional. Hector the manager was very helpful and attentive every step of the way. He checked on our table frequently and made sure everything was to our liking. Jessica our server was amazing. She also made sure that our food and drinks were out on perfect timing. So welcoming and great energy. The food and was delicious and definitely worth going to celebrate any occasion.
