Awesome Raman Dinner

By Christopher W |

Perfect place to go for a small ramen snack or share a bowl between two. They even cartered to my super spicy needs and my girlfriends not so.

Horrible host

By Dream40773390958 |

Terrible experience, rude waitress and the psychotic host yelled at my child for having a backpack slightly sticking out from under the table. Horrible experience, aggressive staff that should not be working in hospitality.

Good to have a ramen shop in UWS

By New Yorker |

The noodles were not separate enough but bundled up so it’s hard to eat and plain taste. Soup didn’t also have enough flavor - Tonkotsu. Boiled egg was good though. A waitress who served our table was extreme unfriendly, they should give some good education to her. Also rice wasn’t good quality, either for gyudon.

Cramped Space; Good Food

By David L |

I would give it an Excellent rating if it was a little more spacious. It's NYC; I get it. But this restaurant is cramped by NY standards. Other than that, I had a great food experience. I ordered the kimchi ramen with pork belly. The soup was spicy, the bowl of noodles was filling, the flavor was robust. The one issue I had was that it contained pork shoulder, not pork belly. I much prefer pork belly over any other part of the pig. Some may not like its fattiness, but I love that part. My wife ordered the curry katsu. She really enjoyed it and even remarked that she wished the portions were larger (she's a fairly light eater). My two friends ordered soba...one warm and one cold. They've been here before, and that's their go-to dish. The entire staff shouts greetings when new patrons walk into the restaurant. I think each of the servers are required to learn Japanese when they work there. It's a nice touch. Overall, the staff was very friendly and willing to help any patron.

Top Ramen hit the spot

By Jens |

462 Amsterdam Ave, New York, between West 82nd & 83rd St. 20 minute wait on a Thursday night was a small nuisance when it came to enjoying this place. Spicy Tonkatsu and a few pints of Sapporo on tap. Food was served hot and very tasty. Noisy fun place with quite a communal seating arrangement. Going back on Monday for another fix.

Decent ramen - but clearly about business over service

By Travelmore_SJ |

I don't like giving 2's but there are some basic service rules that I've come to expect when going to a restaurant - like being seated in the order that you arrive. The restaurant was unusually empty when we went - and told that our seats would be ready in 5 minutes. After we were informed of our wait, some large groups arrived, and the restaurant saw an opportunity to seat more people if we would just be willing to wait. The hostess asked us if we'd be willing to allow a large party to sit before us for an overall improvement in wait times, to which, we reluctantly agreed. After all, we could wait an extra 10 minutes and they're a small business - we were trying to be helpful... That is, until it resulted in a 45+ minute wait, with 3 large groups seated before us (group of 4). You could tell that they knew what they were doing was bad... and they tried to comp us with alcohol. Unfortunately, only 1 person of our group of 4 actually drinks. I would have expected that they offer something else instead, but it seems only alcohol is ok for comp'ing? And, it was their cheapest bottle of alcohol... $10 cheap sake. How was the food? It was on the heavier side. If you like a richer broth, this may be your restaurant. I tend to prefer lighter broths - and I'd rate this place as your average good ramen location. If you want fair service as well, go elsewhere.

Ramen noodle lunch

By BruceMa135 |

Good lunch portion for ramen noodle dishes. Best to add bok choy & bean sprouts. (Extra cost). Entrees $12. Attractive dining room. Attentive service.

Move over Tokyo!!!

By THam515 |

After a three week trip to Japan we developed a taste for great ramen. Enter Jin Ramen on the upper west side!! Nothing we've eaten in the States had come close to the ramen in Japan until this place. Lunch and dinner on three separate occasions can't be wrong, INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS!! Paul is one of the wait staff and is knowledgeable about the products as well as being a connoisseur of great ramen.

Cramped but delicious!

By A L |

We have tried many Ramen places throughout the city, and Jin is one of our favorites for good ramen at decent prices. Their broths are very flavorful and we are satisfied every time. The only drawback is that the space is very cramped.

Solid ramen

By taysak |

Very cute little shop serving good ramen. The chashu pork was very tasty and service was quick. Go early to avoid the lines.

Closest noodles to what you would eat in Tokyo!

By sjaz |

We didn't have a reservation and had to wait 1 hour and 35 minutes in the cold wandering the streets before we get a table for 4. Totally, definitely, absolutely was worth it! The appetizers were beautifully presented and delicious. So many choices for the noodle dishes and surprisingly the desert was yummy too even though I am not a fan of Japanese desserts. The service was fast. The decor was done right so you would feel like eating in a Japanese restaurant without making it cheesy and touristy! We went back the following week and will go back again next week with some friends. Have to support these businesses that do better than their best to be on top of their craft.

Perfect food for coldest winter weekend

By sheripap2015 |

I actually didn't go to the restaurant but ordered in via a delivery service on what was the coldest weekend of the 2016 winter. The ramen was great and warmed me up!!! I hear the restaurant gets very crowded, there are long waits, and it is noisy -- but ramen was wonderful.

Satisfying, flavorful & refined!...perfect way to warm up on a cold day

By nyc2mom |

Never thought ramen could be so refined...Jin Ramen proved it can be! Have been here multiple times with friends and family for lunch and dinner. Consistently delicious each time. Each dish is presented with apparent thought and care towards every ingredient...not just flung together. Favorite dishes are the pork buns, spicy tonkotsu (reduced salt requested), chashu-don, and the hot chicken nan-ban soba (authentic soba!). While the space is tight, it's kid-friendly. The small rice bowls are great for kids. No reservations taken...expect a wait in the evenings. We most recently came on a Sunday around noon and there was no wait. Will return regularly :)

Absolutely great--the first time

By Azulica |

My son and I had a very late lunch on Nov. 30, 2018,,,we both ordered Kuro Garlic Tonkotsu....a big bowl arrived which was the absolute most delicious ramen and for being my first time in the -ramen wave- I found the generous portion to be out of this world. The pork belly slices were so tender and flavorful....the blackness of the broth like I had never seen..the flavors...everything was fantastic. We had tea for drinks. The place is not elegant, it is just an eatery in the West side of Manhattan. We agreed to return. It was the biggest disappointment of the day. The flavors were totally foreign to the one our palates still remembered...the pork was tough. End of the story. NO consistency....it should not happen....maybe they had run out of whatever and provided a quick solution and I think it would have been better for the server to advise that due to popular demand, the dish was sold out....or something like this. What I did not like and never will is the suggestion for tipping: 18% 20% 22% I usually tip 20% but for being not a fancy place and nothing out of the world to prepare, I felt it was not proper.........imagine when Europeans eat there? in Europe patrons round the bill to the next Euro..anyway, my opinion. Tacky! The dishes on the other tables (very close to one another) looked amazing and I am sure were delicious. Best,

Excellent!!!

By 1dartman |

While the seating is indeed tight everything else was excellent. It was the best meal both my vegan daughter and my meat eating self had on this trip to NY. She had vegan green chili ramen and I had spicy pork kimchi don (rice). Food came out fast. We had no reservations....took about 20 minutes to be seated

BOOM! Delish. (Delivery)

By kevin m |

Was working in NYC and this place hit the spot. Got Ramen and shishito peppers. Loved it. Broth really well done, and really good noodles. I normally more into the broth and meat, but the noodles stole the show for me this time. Peppers were good. Delivered RIGHT on time, and well packaged.

Amazing place we stumbled upon

By Ben Cleary |

Tried to Ramen for the 2nd time and went for the green curry ramen with pork. It was delicious. My wife had a cold soba with sashimi salmon and again, couldn't fault it. Stumbled upon it with it having many Asian customers queueing and thought it has to be worth a go. I am delighted we did.

Delicious

By dustythoughts |

I really enjoyed this ramen place. There are plenty of options for everyone, including vegetarians, which can be rare in ramen restaurants. The staff were knowledgeable about the choices and made great recommendations. Seating can be a bit tight because this restaurant is so popular.

Great Ramen

By RaezoR57 |

Well, it's was a great day for ramen, sleet blowing sideways in Manhattan! I had lovely hot Tonkotsu and my wife had the Green coconut Thai curry, I think I came out on top. Truly masters of ramen here. Thoroughly enjoyable. Recommended.

Amazing...

By anonymous12345629373 |

Best restaurant ever. I would recommended this restaurant to anyone. I've been to Japan and the food isn't even this good. This is a must go when your'e in New York.

Delicious, affordable and fast delivery

By Fukuyan |

I’m not a fan of ramen noodle delivery but the restaurant had a long queue. We ended up ordering from here anyway because the sushi bowl they offer is affordable. The online order process was smooth. It was delivered much faster than predicted on the website. The sushi bowl is big and satisfying. The price is a lot cheaper than similar dishes served by sushi restaurants in the neighborhood.

Very disappointed

By ALuisNYC |

Came here for the first time with a group of co workers. I asked for Ramen soup and was very specific; pork and no egg! They brought my soup, green curry, very tasty, but first thing I noticed, there was no pork but chicken. I decided to let it pass and not complain. The next thing i noticed is the egg inside the soup! It's me, I hate to see that and that's why I was very specific; I had to return my soup and even thou I was asked for something different, the damage was done and lost my appetite!

Best soup in NYC

By Romius99 |

The place is pretty small and always full of people, so you have to book a table before you come, but the food is amaizing, I think it was the best soup I've ever eat. Personal is very friendly and prices are good. Must visit in NYC.

Best ramen in NYC

By Jared K |

I love Jin Ramen! Been my favorite ramen place in NYC for the past two years. The kuro tonkotsu (paired with negori) is my favorite dish but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. My girlfriend loves the sake ikura don and I agree it’s delicious. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the buns (they’re fine, but nothing special). Atmosphere inside is lively and fun and outdoor seating is available! If you’re craving ramen and on the UWS stop by!

Great ramen house and for vegetarians too!

By happytrailsnyc |

Made the mistake of ordering too many appetizers, but nonetheless ate everything! Edamame, potato salad, renkon and gobo, then ramen as a main - everything was excellent. I had the vegetarian ramen - a rare treat, that was a delight. Wife had pork ramen and loved it.

A Just OK Noodle Place

By ClintPage |

I recently ordered takeout from this Ramen restaurant on the upper West side. It was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. The noodles were well cooked. The sticky rice was delicious though. It's a good bet for a decent meal, but I wouldn't necessarily return.

Great

By Aspirinetta |

Divine ramen, cute and quaint place, impeccable service. I would absolutely stay here again. Prices in relation to area and quality of food

Delicious ramen

By NYC❤️ |

Delicious ramen. Great service. Vegetarian ramen with miso and mushroom is amazing. Very patient and helpful staff

Super.

By DJKTraveler |

Always packed (and they don't take reservations), but great Ramen-based menu and very friendly if a bit perfunctory service. Full bar. Just don't let the speedy and "efficient" bus boys rush you to finish eating, since they try to turn over tables a bit fast during peak dinner hours.

Warm delicious soup on a chilly day!

By Swingdancers123 |

My friends took me to this cozy delicious restaurant where they recommended the vegetable Ramen. The ramen was amazing! The broth was miso, flavored nicely and the veggies corn and tofu were delicious. I chose the option of an egg in my soup, which turned out to be a boiled half egg which picked up the soup flavorings. This restaurant is very good and perfect for cool fall days and winter in NYC.

Delicious ramen. Great service. Vegetarian ramen with miso and mushroom is amazing. Very patient and helpful staff

Delicious food in a really cool (& friendly) atmosphere.

By NYCJennifer |

This is a cool looking— sort of rustic— place. The food is fantastic and the staff really friendly. Recommend highly.

Fresh Food served quickly

By Marie_boejstrup |

Excellent Food! We had Kim chi ramen and green curry ramen. A bit Spicy, but great taste and quickly served. Huge portions, we were not able to finish. Great local atmosphere.

No delivery, they took our money

By Nycfoodie20 |

Do not order delivery from here. They were an hour and a half late and we called them every half hour it was late asking for an update. We never got our food. The woman on the phone was incredibly rude and called us liars - saying the food arrived and wouldn’t give us our money back. We have lived here for years and nothing like that has ever happened to us. Very bad customer service.

Better Than Ippudo or Tonton Ramen Though I Still Prefer Hide-Chan

By monsieur hibou |

I am a ramen fiend and rank Jin Ramen as #2, right behind Hide-Chan. And WAY better than Ippudo which is really ramen for white people.

Great spot!

By BrumBunch |

Great little spot on the UWS... was quiet when we went in for lunch but was full within half an hour....clearly very popular with those in the know! Food was delicious and fresh, service was good and they were able to accommodate a change to one of the dishes. We had fried chicken, katsu, chicken domburi and 2 different ramens...all were delicious! Would highly recommend : )

Great great great!

By Daniel S |

It was a total surprise for me and my friends first time there and the portions are so big and so tasty. I especially recommend the ramen miso not so spicy but full of taste.

Worth a visit

By Massimo M |

Nice and warm place in Amsterdam St, recommended by the lonely planet, offers a very good ramen at a reasonable price. Service is quick and kind, definitely worth a visit!

Large menu

By Tunaidi |

Jin Ramen's a decent ramen shop in the UWS. This joint caters to many tastes because their ramen menu is just ginormous. You won't get out of this world crazy good ramen, but you'll be able to slurp a bowl of solid ramen and satisfy a craving.

Good, but not like Tokyo

By Gunz |

Just recently coming from Tokyo, this place doesn't come close. Not even a little. It's good for US standards, and it's a nice place. It's worth going, but don't think you are getting Tokyo quality. Just lower expectations just a little and you'll be fine. Great drink selections!

Great Ramen

By Jenny |

I was visiting New York City and grabbed lunch with friends at Jin Ramen on a winter weekend. I ordered the Miso Ramen, which was delicious. They gave a very generous portion of noodles and vegetables. Everything tasted very fresh. It was the perfect meal on a cold day.

Awesome Spot

By jmetz1009 |

Great spot with a local neighborhood atmosphere. Service is very knowledgable and quick but did not feel rushed. Lots of great seating inside, outside and bar. The flavors are incredible well developed, balanced and presented. Would absolutely go back anytime i'm in the mood for Ramen.

Delicious experience!

By Maciej G |

After having tried 4 different meals I can definitely recommend this restaurant. All meals were really delicious and big enough to be full. Good choice of beers, quick and high quality service all make it a very positive experience. Definitely worth coming back!

First Ramen House Experience

By SPECial |

It was a goal of mine to try a ramen eatery so I stopped by this one since it was conveniently close to the Museum of Natural History. I went solo on a Friday around 2pm and I was lucky enough to get a seat- at the bar. I ordered their basic soy sauce (not fish sauce based) ramen noodle soup with no extra toppings. It came within 5 minutes. While pumping music kept the lively atmosphere going in the crowded place I marveled at the beautiful presentation of my bowl. PROS: Everything was flavorful and salty. For those of us minding our sodium intake the menu states you can ask for a less-salty broth. I could taste and smell ginger ans sesame oil with every bite. I could not slow down my eating. I got a nice sized lump of noodles which deemed it worth the $14. The bamboo shoots were soft and salty. The hard-boiled half of an egg was soft and salty. And the tender slices of pork were- you guessed it- soft and salty. Thank goodness for the iced water I was provided! CONS: The noodles are house made and are thicker than your instant Maruchan noodles. The lightweight plastic chopsticks provided were challenging to use because of this. I have eaten phõ many times in my life and was shocked at how difficult it was to pick up these clumps of noodles. I say clumps because the Jin noodles do not separate very well. Seating is tight throughout the premise inside and out. Sitting at the bar I felt very much in the way of the workers but then again that is NYC! ------ Bottom Line: Try this hip and highly rated spot on the upper west side!

The G kids love ...

By CMLGFX |

...this place. They usually have TWO orders of plain steamed bun, fried rice AND ramen. I like the kani (crab) salad, Zara soba AND pork bun. The fried rice is VERY good. The service is borderline. They keep having to train new people. We tolerate it, though, cause the good is good.

Delicious

By happytrailsnyc |

Excellent Japanese Ramen shop with vegetarian options. Apps like gyoza and edamame were delicious. Service is excellent and the prices fair.

good selection

By Peggy C |

there is quite an extensive menu, ramen, rice bowls, and appetizers. outdoor seating in the warmer months.

Good if you need a fix, but there are other options out there

By MyThoughts_10 |

I've eaten here many times. Here's the skinny - go if you're ok with: -Long waits. Having said that there were a few times when I was pleasantly surprised with a shorter than expected wait time. -Limited seating inside the restaurant to comfortably wait where you don't feel like you're always in the way. Since lines are usually long, this means you most likely will be standing in the way of everyone until your table is ready. The alternative is to wait outside, which is better space-wise, but if the bench space is taken (which they usually are), then you're left standing for a while. -Cramped dining area where waiters/waitresses have to sliver through people to get to tables. I honestly don't know how they don't get more annoyed with this. -If you don't get a table against the wall, you will be sitting at a bar area or on a high-table communal-type area where you are separated from the next party with a small potted shrub on the table. Ie. you'll be able to hear what your next door neighbors hear. Food is alright. I've tried a 1-2 of their appetizers, the ramen, the sesame green beans, and the gyu-don (beef rice bowl) - which I moved on to coz the ramen is just ok. I wouldn't say it stands out from any other ramen place. Lately in order to avoid the crowd physically, I've been ordering out (now that they have delivery service). You still don't really avoid the crowd this way because your food arrives sloppily prepared and sometimes the wait is more than an hour for your food. I experienced this recently. I am guessing it's because I ordered at dinner time when they are quite busy. If you're looking for an overall great experience, I would look elsewhere. But if you live in the area and are looking for a quick fix, then give this place a try.

Excellent, flavorful ramen delicately prepared with flair and sophistication!

By nyc2mom |

Excellent, flavorful ramen delicately prepared with flair and sophistication! Have been here multiple times and we will continue coming here on a regular basis. We've tried the: Chicken Nanban Soba Noodles - A FAVORITE - my son who is picky will request it and slurp it down! Shoyu Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen Chasu-Don Donburi Chicken Teriyaki Donburi Steamed Pork Buns Gyoza Dumplings ALL have been delicious and well prepared Service is excellent. Sam the owner is particularly attentive and today he saw my son had slurped most of the soup from the dish I had, so he had someone bring over some extra broth for me. Now THAT is special! HINTS: Popular place that fills quickly. Come early. While space is tight, it's quite kid friendly!

Can't beat the homemade noodles

By ZenDark30 |

What we lacked in ramen expertise we made up for with our adventurous palates. After a strong recommendation by a friend who lived in the neighborhood we were excited to stumble upon Jin Ramen. We chose to sit at the bar and quickly eyed what looked to be a familiar label on a bottle of wine on one of the top shelves. Come to find out that they had chosen wine from Montmartre vineyards in Forest Grove, Oregon which is a half mile from our flower farm. This ironic coincidence along with having Sapporo and Asahi on tap reassured us we were in the right place. We wanted to sample it all but opted for Shoyu and spicy Tonkotsu ramen. The Shoyu has garlic and ginger with a chicken based broth whereas the Tonkotsu lives up to the name of being spicy. Both were rich in flavors. Michael Jackson's music kept the tempo lively in the kitchen as chefs dunked fresh noodles into a hot bath until tender and then let them swim in a flavorful pool of broth. The full bar including a healthy selection of sakes are a guarantee that you will find something to quench your thirst. You will leave full but not feeling heavy. Diners tip: go for the toppings. I chose the baby bok choy and kikurage mushrooms.

Very good

By Matthew G |

Went with my daughter and her friend before they took a class at Steps on Broadway. Only a quick 10 minute walk. Decor is good, the staff was very friendly. My daughter's friend never tried ramen before and she enjoyed it very much. The broth was rich and flavorful. The noodles were tasty. Worth the visit... Definitely recommended.

Yum!

By Markus J |

Great restaurant! Food is delicious and punctual! It is a rather small restaurant, so seating is tight. Expect a small wait during busy times. I recommend the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Pork Fried Rice!

Just plain WOW!

By nd2trvmore |

Flat out and undisputed best rice stir fry EVER! Generous portion with absolutely wonderful hints of ginger. Truly spectacular. Then came the ramen. Coconut curry with buckwheat noodles. Delicious. Pleasant service rounded out a great meal. Reasonably priced by NYC standards. Kinda place that makes you wish you lived around the corner!

Our Neighborhood Favorite for Yummy Affordable Food!

By Kimberly S |

In a neighborhood where good, moderately priced food is a rarity, Jin Ramen is a bright star. Hearty and delicious ramen, udon, and rice bowls are mostly under $15, and are large portions. I love their deconstructed pork buns. They've got a great selection for vegetarians and fish eaters (but their spicy pork dishes are my favorite). Great deals on Japanese beer. The only drawback is the tight quarters... it's a small space that packs them in.

Tasty, fast, authentic

By BeenThereAndSurvived |

As ramen lovers, we spontaneously wanted to treat ourselves to a soup after the Natural History Museum and ended up here because of the proximity. In short, we liked it. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, the service was very fast and friendly and the food was also delicious. Overall, the ramen offering is broad but not huge, but clearly differentiated. There are also other Asian/Japanese dishes. Ultimately, we were very satisfied with three different ramen variants, but we wondered whether the perceived different portion size depends on the dish or is a coincidence due to the different bowls or is it just an illusion. We would definitely come back.

Noodle Greatness!!!

By WarrenFretwell |

If you like noodles, you will love Jin Ramen on the Upper West Side. Simply put: it's just great! Other reviews have indicated that this is a college crowd. Well, maybe because they are an educated bunch and have knowledge of where the excellent food is! Yes, the patrons are a lot younger than me, but that made no difference. Good eats are good eats no matter who is at the table next to you. There are lots of interesting options on the menu, but I was there for the ramen. I ordered the House Chicken Gyoza Dumplings to start...and I could have made a meal out of them. Delicious! Main entree: Tonkotsu Ramen: "Pork bone broth, thin noodle, pork broth with a clean, full flavor, creamy texture cooked for hours on the end." That is how it is defined in the menu and I cannot say enough to impress upon you that it is imperative that you visit this restaurant and try this dish. Hmmm good! The pork almost melts in your mouth and has a fresh flavor like no other. My wife had the Shio and was also very good, but a little spicier than she expected. I had some and it did have a bit of a punch to it. Both dishes came with chashu braised pork belly, hanjuku tamago soft-boiled egg, menma bamboo shoots, nori roasted seaweed, and negi fresh scallion. The ramen bowls were very large and they come with a wooden ladle from which you can sip the broth and bring up the noodles to eat with your chopsticks. I asked people at the table next to us what they were eating as their dishes looked at least as good as ours. We will have to return to sample more choices from the menu. The tables are a little tight, but everyone was friendly and enjoying their meals. Service was excellent. Total cost with two drinks, tax and tip: $74.06.

Yummy ramen is what I needed on a rainy October night

By Anna S |

Yummy ramen from home made pasta is exactly what I needed on a rainy October day in New York. I’ve ordered Spicy Tonkotsu and it was great, I love spicy and it didn’t seem spicy to me to be honest. I. The evening there is a waitlist, around 30 mins, so be ready to wait and maybe hop in the neighbour bar, which was what we did.

THE ramen place in the UWS

By Gabriel M |

Just came back from a Japan trip and was feeling nostalgic for some good ramen. Jin is the place. Their tonkotsu is perfectly flavored and if you like spicy the volcano is hot but adding to the taste. The kara age were also really well done. My daughter really liked the shoyu ramen, where the broth is not as rich, but still super flavorful. She asked if she could skip the spoon and just slurp from the bowl. High praise form a teen! Service was great and they have nice outside tables. Definitely recommend.

Delicious Ramen

By Carol S |

We came here after researching for the best ramen in NYC. We decided on this location as it was close to the New York Historical Society Museum. We didn't have a reservation but arrived at the start of the lunch crowd. We were seated right away, around 12 noon. By the time we left, it was packed. We started off with chicken gyoza which had a nice crisp. It was nice to see a chicken gyoza option when we normally see pork as the only option. The ramen was flavorful and plenty. I had the Vegetable Ramen with ground chicken. My daughter had Tonkotsu Ramen minus the egg. The portions were LARGE. I didn't finish mine and it kept me full the entire day. Some reviews talked about their ramen being overly salty but we didn't find that. They also offered a less sodium option but we ordered regular and found it to be perfect. Nice atmosphere and from what we could tell, a local hot spot.

Jin Blossoms

By The_Fillet |

Jin Ramen is a must try for locals and visitors alike. The diverse menu offers a range of dishes for the adventurous as well as the beginners. Reservations are not taken but put your name in and Kill time at Fred’s, Dead Poet, St James Gate or any of the other nearby bars. Service is excellent to go along with top notch ramen.

good food, bad service

By sebgilles |

The food was good and the happy hour for drinks was great as well. However the service was terrible. My server ended her shift before we were done eating. This made it impossible for our table to get our bills and make our payments. Once we got our bills, we had been charge 22% automatic gratuity (quite excessive for the poor service we had received). Beyond that, the new server took my credit card and never brought it back. Once I got it from the front, I noticed a few days later that I had been overcharged almost double. Hope the staff enjoyed the 100% tip... crooks.

Best Ramen in NYC?

By Aidan |

Best ramen spot in NYC imho. Love to take friends there so they can taste ramen that’s better than Ichiran. Also only place I’ll go solo for food when I’m craving something rich and restorative.

Certified Repeat Customer

By Carol S |

This is my second visit to Jin Ramen on the upper west side. I wasn’t planning to write another review, but here I am. Once again, the food was delicious. I had the rice bowl with teriyaki salmon, broccoli and carrots $17. My daughter had the spicy tonkotsu pork ramen $17, and we shared crispy chicken gyoza $10. Everything was delicious! Portions are huge and worth the price. The restaurant is on a bustling street, and seems to be favored by the locals. We requested a seat outdoors as the sun was soon setting and the August weather was perfect. The staff was once again accommodating. A special shout out to our superb and friendly waiter Daniel K! On our next visit to NY, we are sure to return!

Super nice

By Arciduca79 |

On vacation in NYC. Fine restaurant. Had gyoza's, edamame, veg ramen and katsu curry donburi. Staff is super attentive; food was good. Edamame was not super nice, but all the rest was fantastic.

Ramen heaven

By BacTravel |

So many different types of ramen to choose from, we did a more traditional one and then a Thai green curry one which was so flavorful!! (And spicy!) Like a lot of restaurants in japan and Hong Kong, they also give you free green tea. This place was a great find.

Ramen for Aficionados

By Sassamatt |

Jin Ramen takes ramen to a new level. The sauces are beyond gourmet, and staff open a great deal of time explaining their subtleties. Meals are put together with great care to balancing flavours. The fresh sheets offer some excellent options. Portions are generous.

It's OK

By Alfio G |

I went looking for a Miso Ramen yesterday I read most of the revies for Ramen places in the area and decided on this one. Atmosphere was good lots of people so I thought look promising, I ordered the Miso Ramen it was average Miso was watered down there was no punch that you get from Miso, I have eaten Miso all over the work, this was the first time I didn't get that I want more feeling. I don't know what their other dishes taste like but I hope it's better than the Miso.

Authentic ramen house

By Dawn S |

Jin is the best ramen house I've ever been to in the U.S. It's quick, affordable, and authentic. The menu is amazing with something for everyone...even if you are not a ramen fan. The pork buns, gyro a, and rice bowls are also amazing. Don't go to NYC without making at least one trip to Jin!

Loved it

By JPP2519 |

I found this place on tripadvisor and I was so pleased for what I ordered.. the price is around $16-18 and big portion. I ordered the Volcano dish which was spicy enough for my taste. Would def go back when we are in town again!

Loved this place!!!!!

By Lara |

Totally legit umami ramen. Very busy but moves quickly without feeling rushed. Eggplant starter is delicious. Shio ramen with the works is amazing. The broth is delicious and slurpable!! Pork was tasty, as were other ingredients. I loved this place and highly recommend it.

Fantastic Asian Experience in Upper West Side

By Deepwater_diver |

We decided to get away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square and went to the upper west side (Amsterdam and 79th). There are a lot of restaurants in the area and we stopped at Jin Ramen and sat in the patio. They have a very long list of Sake! we ordered the large hot Sake, Spicy Salmon Tartar which was delicious, Green Beans and pork buns as appetizers. For main, we ordered the Kakuni and the Sukiyaki Don - both were great!

Fabulous, inexpensive, plenty of seating

Walking around in the neighborhood it was a "no-brainer" type of decision to step in here for dinner. (I have had to wait outside the Broadway establishment for 20 minutes to get seating -- this one is positively spacious in comparison.) My spicy tonkotsu was delicious and my friend loved her green curry ramen. Have always enjoyed their pork buns but mine was a bit soggy on one side. In net terms it was still a delicious and hearty meal under $20 per head.

Very good ramen

We had an early dinner here after visiting the Met. A bit far to walk considering the Met is on the east side. Both ramen (miso and Tonkotsu) are very good. The soup is flavorful and the noodles are stretchy. I'd like a bit more meat but it's good enough. The portions are not as big but enough for us. The Donburi (rice bowl) is simple and okay. The restaurant is big for a ramen place. Service is simple and quick.

Wow, that was good

Tried out this UWS noodles joint. My visiting buddy is a ramen nut who does the whole 3 day stock and broth thing. He said this place was better than Momofuku. I’ll take his word for it. I loved my ramen. Will go back if in the neighborhood. Salmon tartare was amazing.

Eat Here to Run Well

By Autumn B |

I was here during marathon weekend. I was quite over pasta and steaks, so we came here the night before I ran the 2016 NYC Marathon. Very busy as you can imagine, my husband and I were seated next to another couple that we didn't know, and we had a nice conversation with them while slurping some of the best ramen I've ever had. My husband was a ramen newbie and loved it as well. This seemed to good fuel for the race the next day because I felt good and had energy to spare. :-)

Too hip for me...

I've eaten here at least four times. I keep hoping the experience will change so I don't have to go to midtown to get decent ramen. I am on business so I often go alone, sitting at the bar nearest the bartender. I have also tried the community tables. I have never waited less than 5 minutes for the person to notice me, sometimes more. And for the record the ramen selection is limited at best. Once you order however, the food arrives quickly. The food itself is serviceable--nothing extraordinary. Maybe I'm a snob--I've been to Japan over 30 times--but I've had much better.

Food is very very GOOD! I was there with my boyfriend and we ordered pork fried rice as appetizer and two ramens: kuro tonkatsu and kakuni. It is more then enough for two people. Very friendly stuff. Highly recommended!

Great Afternoon Ramen Stop on the Upper West Side

By musictraveler40 |

So, this isn't a frills place. It's a get in, sit down, eat good ramen and get on with your day place. Really good service. Very friendly. Good food. Cold beer. Great atmosphere. Like most walk-in joints in NYC, it's small and seating is limited and spare, but you're there for the food - and the food is good. We stopped in for a bite after the museum and really enjoyed it. Thanks, Jin Ramen Uws.

Ramen!!

I have been listening to Eminem a lot in the past few days!! I love Samuel l Jackson and rappers and food so I want my rap name Michelin mother f—er!! I mentioned Eminem because I think NY is full of ramen gods!! I went here for lunch with my good Ivy League friend!! I will keep his info private!! I got the shoyu ramen because I didn’t want to get tonkotsu since it’s very heavy and that combined with the heat today would’ve been a recipe for immense sweat and odor!! It was very good and flavorful!! I also got the pork buns and the pork melted in my mouth since it was tender!!
