Quiet and delicious..nice staff...a little family museum up front, too...we really liked our meal! Would be a nice place for a meal before a show at nearby Lincoln Center!

Cozy place and must gets better on summer with the open area. Ordered the traditional spaghetti, but fell in love with the lasagna. And the arancini are amazing too.

Food was great. Atmosphere was very personal and family like. Prices were great. Thank you!!! We made reservations and was seated very quickly. The bread they served was a little stale tasting, other than that it was a greet experience. In a great location!!

We ordered lunch choices of eggplant parm and chicken parm sandwiches (minus the bread) and it included a side salad (other sides also available). We’ve had better at our local sub shop or diner. Eggplant was OK but breaded chicken breast (thin cut) was so dry and tough to cut the uneven table kept wobbling back and forth. We had to be careful our drinks didn’t splash out of their glasses. They say to give a place a second chance but with so many other choices in the area why waste your time.

The house red wine was great, a large glass and plentiful serving of merlot. I had Joanne's meatballs, and a side of crispy potatoes. Both were served so hot, I couldn't eat for a couple minutes. From the antipasto section, the flavorful large meatballs came in a large dish of ground tomato "gravy". Plenty of garlic in the meatballs, must be Italian. The potatoes were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside with some seasoning. The tomato gravy also went well on the potatoes. Service was very quick and friendly. Cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor tables, and a bar.

We had to visit this restaurant being Lady Gaga fans. The restaurant was quiet when we visited, but appears to be big enough so turning up will most likely be fine. The food is a little bit on the pricey side compared to other places we visited, but you are definitely paying for the quality- this was some of the best Italian food I have ever encountered. The staff are friendly and the restaurant greets you with the most exceptional aromas. If you decide to come here, you will most certainly feel satisfied

Yes, a bit pricey, but it is a nice quiet place..eaten twice and great food both times...didn't see GaGa there, though...

Our dinner was delicious and I will return! We ordered the spaghetti and 2 meatballs and split the dinner due to portion size being large. It was plenty. We also ordered the Romaine salad with tomatoes and a lemon vinegarette dressing, it was light and fresh. Perfect before a heavy pasta dish. If you order desert (we didn't), from what I noticed, the portions are enormous! Yum

Overall service was poor and hurried to say the least. Sadly both my friend and I suffered bad stomach issues very soon afterwards.

Stumbled across this restaurant not realising it was Lady GaGas restaurant. Felt abit like an old pub inside, food was really mediocre and really overpriced! Service was average! I would avoid!

This restaurant obviously plays on its connections to Lady Gaga. To the extent that one of the staff had her picture on their top. It was one of the more expensive meals we had in NY and probably one of the least inspiring. $31 for 4 meatballs on a bit of spaghetti? Signature dish? Had better from M&S. $12 for some garlic mash? Not worth it. There was also meant to be drag bingo which was advertised as entertainment that night. Didn't happen. No explanation. There are immeasurably better Italian restaurants in Little Italy. Go there instead.

We went for my daughters 16th birthday thinking because Lady Gaga’s dad owned it we would get amazing Italian food. Nah! It left little to be desired. It’s a quaint, cute restaurant and we had a great waiter, but that’s where the positives stop. Focaccia bread was cold and nothing to write home about. My daughter had the penne vodka, which was average and bland. My linguini and clams were also bland. Linguini was more the size of thick spaghetti vs thin linguini. Lentil soup was good, again under seasoned. I hate to say it, but south jersey does it way better! Bring Gaga to sing and maybe I would give it 4 stars...lol!

Good food and wine - a place to escape into, when in the Lncoln Center Area. I had the chicken parmesan and it was very nice with a glass of excellent red Montepulciano, recommended by an attentive waiter.

We went for an early dinner at 4:30 pm on a Friday. The place was empty when we sat down, but was almost packed when we left at 5:45 pm. Not sure what service was like then, but our service was fine. The food was good, generous portions, and reasonably priced for NYC. The veal parm was delicious and the Walnut salad easily served two. We got seated in the very back, which was nice. Less ambience in the rest of the place. We had a function in the area which is why we came here. Not sure if I would make a special trip given all the other choices in NYC.

Good service and wine but food was sub par. And pasta is really not hard to cook well. Very poor value for money as the pasta is not inexpensive. Was crowded the evening we were there so must be popular with some.

Joanne Trattoria provides fine Italian cuisine just a couple of blocks from Lincoln Center. We stopped by after a NY Philharmonic concert in David Geffin Hall, and enjoyed a meal of: • Parmesan Sandwich • Lemon Artichoke Chicken • Pasta with sausage • Bread pudding • Cannolis All were tasty, and service was prompt in the late afternoon on a busy Christmas weekend. The interior is classic NY restaurant, with lots of nooks and private function rooms.

A colleague and I ate at Joanne before going to Lincoln Center. We were seated immediately and the server took our drink order straight away. We both had the broccoli rabe with penne and split a misto salad. The food was delicious, the pasta was hot, and the salad was flavorful. I would return to Joanne in a heartbeat. I liked the lovely brick walls, the charming decor and the terrific service.

My lady friends and I ate at Joanne before seeing My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center. It was wonderful! Two of us had the Frittata and you could choose 4 items in it. I had sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes and mozzarella. My friend had the ricotta pancakes with fresh berries. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was so cozy! I would go back again and try the pasta and meatballs.

Great atmosphere. Food can use more seasonings. Seems a bit cozy. Prices are a little high for what it is. Have had worse and better. No need for reservations.

We dined here yesterday before going to the opera. My husband had eggplant parmigiana with a Caesar salad to start, and I had the chicken in lemon sauce with artichokes and pasta. We both enjoyed the focaccia bread. I have tasted a zillion Caesar salads as it's my husband's favorite, he orders it all the time. This one was really unusually good. That said, they disregarded his order in that they brought it to the table with anchovies on it, which he had said he didn't want. For that matter, all the service was young, unpolished and so far as we could see, unsupervised. Both of our main courses were decent. The wines by the glass were quite expensive for what they were, with a minimum price of $12 a glass when I would have expected to pay $8 or $9 for what was offered. There are no non sweet desserts; all the offered desserts were heavy and very caloric. I would suggest that a fruit plate should be offered. We are local and would love to have a new place to go near Lincoln Center and we might be back but there are so many good restaurants in NYC that it's hard to have to give this place 4 stars when it's really only good plus.

The food is superb! the atmosphere great, the staff friendly and helpful. Everything about this restaurant is a great experience.

Went out to a theatre around 72nd and Broadway. I have traditionally had some difficulty finding intimate restaurants with fine dining but not extremely expensive in this area so we took a walk on Columbus Ave to see what was there- found JoAnne on 68 St just off Columbus and looked at the menu- they seemed to have a nice variety, not all just pasta dishes, and they advertised fireplaces so we went in. We shared a seared scallops appetizer with a yummy sauce and I ordered the MahiMahi entree which was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. We had warm rolls with dinner and we shared a carafe of the house wine which was excellent, much better than usual house wine offerings. My friend ordered the eggplant parm which was good but not as good as my fish. We shared sautéed spinach which was a little salty but also good.

We reserved Joanne and we were glad we did, service was Excellent, food was excellent, i didnt like for my taste one plate and the server very helpfully told me to choose an other one and it was WOW. We were a familly of 7 with kids and we had so much fun, there was a young magician and a Broadway singer, both were amazing. Were choose to be sit in the verandah outside and it was perfect. A big hit for our vacay here!

Honestly yikes. We were very excited to eat here for a birthday dinner, there were 7 of us. We were put in a back room and forgotten about several times. We waited over an hour for our order to even be taken, the table was long and the waitress didn’t feel like walking around it so everything we ate, drank was passed down like an assembly line-which if I’m trying to have a nice meal I don’t really feel like doing the waitress’ job sorry. And to top it all off, not one of the 7 of us enjoyed our meal the food really left something to be desired so disappointing, so expensive and so not worth it. I don’t understand why this place has such great reviews. My risotto was literally white rice.

I was taking my daughters to a play at Lincoln Center. We decided to have dinner at 5:00pm. The restaurant was half full. We sat in the middle room: party of three I liked the menu as did my daughter because she is Glutten free. We ordered the caprese salad which was fair. (Tomatoes did not have much taste)The best item of the night was the Brussels sprouts. I did not like my eggplant parm (it was a thick slice and little sauce) My daughter’s pasta with garlic and sausage and broccoli was tasteless. We will not return.

Travelled from Australia to New York to celebrate daughter's 21st birthday (huge Gaga fan!) so made the most of the experience by dining there two nights in a row. Friendliest staff even though they were so busy, couldn't fault the service provided by all staff. Ate a variety of dishes over the two nights including the meatballs, seafood macaroni, lasagna, chicken, pork ragout and a speciality pizza. All meals were hot, delicious and very filling! Highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic Italian meal in a warm and inviting atmosphere!

I went to a few Lady Gaga concerts recently and figured I would try her family restaurant.... especially since I live nearby. Wow, was the food bad. The menu is simple and familiar with basic Italian and Italian-American dishes such as chicken parm. and lasagna. To start off, even the bread was bad, being dry and hard and not savable by the cheap wrapped butter cubes. The menu's simple standards you can get anywhere ... but here they were executed so poorly that we could not eat them. The lasagna was not identifiable and was just a glob of cheese. The chicken parmigiana was of poor quality and the pasta was cafeteria quality. There are good aspects of the restaurant such as nice, friendly service and a comfortable and cozy dining room. Prices are fair. I hope management thinks of a redo because there is potential here.

Love it here. Great bar. Great people. Great food. So welcoming. So warm. And such yummy food. It’s all good! You cannot go wrong here!!!

Don't bother spending your money here. Tasteless! The restaurant is dirty and has a smell of damp! The manager farted when he visited our table. The food is not fresh and tastes like microwaved dog food. Worst Italian restaurant.

Good solid Italian Cuisine, excellent service and tremendous drinks amidst brick walls lined with pictures of Lady Gaga. A glassedingarden provides outdoor dining in warm weather

Of course, I’m a little monster. I was walking through Central Park with my mother and we decided to grab dinner. I did a quick google search and saw Joanne Trattoria 5 minutes away. Of course. Done. It was as if mother monster herself beckoned us We were able to be seated without reservation on a Saturday night which was awesome. My mom and I both ordered the spaghetti with meatball. Because, you would have to go out of your way to mess up that. Staff was friendly. Food was yummy. And of course now I can say I ate at Gaga’s family restaurant.

Came here as our daughter is a Lady Gaga fan (I got the impression that was the case for others around us too). The staff were friendly and attentive, which counts for a lot. The tablet menu was frustrating. The food was good, not amazing, but no complaints. The night we went also had live music on the patio, but unless you were dining in that area, you just heard a mixture of that and the system audio music. Would be better to just hear one or the other. Overall happy we went.

Granted that we are after the typical lunch hour , but we found this to be a warm comfortable place with choices to satisfy vegetarians as well as all others. Four of us had a tasty satisfying unhurried meal, which was very satisfying. A good place to revisit.

We enjoyed the spinach/artichoke dip appetizer and also ordered the pizza, which we thought was just OK. We saw others with pasta and it looked delicious. The interior is nice, and has a great porch for dining. Medium priced restaurant.

Small, but very cosy! The servings are large and well prepared. Nothing special other than Lady Gaga's father owns it. However the meatballs are fantastic!!!

Service was great. Kale salad perfect. Really nice, intimate feel. Will most definitely be back. And ther is outdoor seating.

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere with lots of family pictures- a small neighborhood place with a cute patio. Service was fine, but the food was blah. The focaccia bread wasn’t fresh, and the olive oil was unseasoned. The arugula salad was tasty but soggy- ask for the dressing on the side. The spaghetti and meatball was okay, but for the price, a sprinkle of fresh Parmesan would have been nice. All in all, a forgettable meal. Skip it.

Was visiting NYC for a long weekend and decided to try the restaurant due to its connection with Gaga. That was a mistake. We were sat quickly in the half busy restaurant that seemed to lack ambiance. The staff also didn’t seem overly happy, as if they really didn’t want to be there. The digital tablet left on the table used for the menu and drinks was annoying as it was slow, but we also had to take turns to look at it. Would have been better to have lovely Italian inspired hard copy menus for each person. It took quite some time to order, but the food arrived quickly. Our starters were calamari (which was reasonable), and crab cakes that were very sloppy and tasteless on the inside. It looked like they had been made with crab sticks (fish) from the look of the filling. Our mains were pizza (was ok) and a carbonara that was bland. What was worse was that I had to send it back as I twice had plastic packaging in my mouth from it. The first bit I ignored, but not twice. I was offered a replacement dish and it was explained that it came from the cheese wrapping. There wasn’t much by way of an apology but the dish was taken off the bill as I had requested. The restaurant strikes me as a dream for the owner, but it’s not got the menu, style or food quality to match that, or the experience required to make it so. It feels let go. I don’t mean to be overly harsh, but this was what I experienced and felt about the restaurant. Others may love it of course. Don’t book because of the Gaga connection, you don’t see too much of that there, rightly so.

The restaurant is very cozy and welcoming. Our waiter Amir was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent and drinks yummy!! If your looking for a great dining experience this is the place!!

The portion sizes are smaller but that works for many people. The crowd we saw skewed to an older demographic and they prefer smaller plates. I suggest you have an appetizer with your meal and you'll be fine. Don't go looking for a Lady Gaga museum. The walls are not covered with memorabilia. It's a small restaurant serving the local crowd. We did dine across from a TV and stage actress of note. And, they wouldn't take a debit card (Visa gift card) I pre-loaded. You'll need your bank card or cash.

I ate dinner here recently and it was underwhelming. I was looking for something pre Lincoln Theater and thought why not. Food was average. I was looking forward to a real home cooked Italian meal since this is supposed to be Lady Gaga's family restaurant. I had the eggplant meatballs that tasted like bread and nothing else. I didn't taste or see anything that was eggplant. I also don't think the red sauce was comparable to some of the great Italian restaurants in NYC. Also I ordered chicken on the bone with sausage and chicken pieces were very small and more bone than chicken. Also my friend ordered pasta with garlic and olive oil that cost twenty four dollars. This was very high for what is was. The lasagna looked good although I didn't taste it. Overall atmosphere was okay small but cozy. I think if I lived in the neighborhood I would try this restaurant again but since I don't I can't see any reason to come back with so many great Italian restaurants in New York City.

It was a lovely setting on the back porch and we enjoyed the dinner. All those who ordered the fish seemed most happy with their meals. Plentiful portions. And as I was leaving I thought, wow! The bar is where I want to sit next time. Looks really fun up there.

I give it a poor rating because they're just phoning it in because they think the Gaga name is all they need. The food was average tasting, with not enough seasoning and over-cooked pasta. I mean seriously, an Italian restaurant, of all places, should know better than to serve pasta that's been boiled to death. I had the scallops over fettuccine Alfredo, and I might as well have been eating at an Olive Garden. Boring and lacking any real flavor. Plus, for 5 people we got 5 very small rolls, and no offer of refill. Bread is NOT expensive. Won't be back, won't recommend to anyone else.

A family dinner at Joanne’s after a performance at Lincoln Center. Joanne’s is walking distance from Lincoln Center and it’s tiny trattoria is the perfect place to eat. Great service coupled with amazing Arancini balls, light and fresh salmon with artichokes and white beans and the traditional ( better than grandma’s) spaghetti and meatball. Homemade chocolate chip cookies rounded out a fantastic meal...we will be back...until then I’ll be dreaming of the spaghetti and meatballs!

We entered from the cold wet New York street and the first thing that caught my attention was the fire place burning in the back. Service was super fast and all the staff seemed very attentive. I had pizza and my partner has Joanne’s Spagetti and Meatball. The wait wasn’t too long for food and for the money it was good quality and very tasty! The desert was even better. We shared a Red Velvet cake and omg it was amazing!! Upon leaving I said to my partner ‘why are there pictures of Lady Gaga on the wall’ the waitress then told us that the restaraunt is Lady Gaga’s parents which made the experience even better. How cool!! 10/10 if you are passing, definitely go in and give it a go!

We went to Joanne's on Saturday night and despite the packed house, we received excellent service from "Bobby" who was not only waitressing but bartending as well. The food overall was not great. The fried calamari appetizer was good but my Chicken Marsala was bland and the other 3 people in our party thought their meals were good but nothing special. The drinks and the food were expensive.

We came on a recommendation from a friend who’d discovered Joanne Trattoria through its connection to Lady Gaga. The food, service and atmosphere here is lovely. We had a thoroughly good meal, the wine was great and we witnessed a couple get engaged. If you’re in New York and like Italian food (and who doesn’t) you NEED to eat here!

We have a subscription and we wanted to try a new place near Lincoln Center. We were not disappointed with Joanna Trattoria. The portions were very generous and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the tri color salad, the chicken with artichokes and the chicken scarperello. The food was very well seasoned, and the service was attentive.

An average restaurant with average food; ambience spoilt by high and mighty staff who were rude and because they work at Lady Gaga’s parents’ gaff think they’re something special.

we made our reservation a few months ago we had an early dinner we were given a nice table the room was lovely there was no waiting straight to our table the service was good. the meatballs was good as was the pasta a few had pizza which was ok we had a couple of pitchers of beer which was reasonable don't know if it was coincidence but after we finished our meal and first pitcher the heaters which were on blew cold air out and when we ordered another they came back on then they went off again we ordered a couple of deserts they came back on the deserts were ok but pricey then got bill without asking for it but overall it was a good experience

I love Joanne's! It's always my first option of Italian food in the city. The service is great and the food is delicious. Especially the Seafood Mac & Cheese. I always recommend this restaurant, it never disappoints me!

During a group trip to New York one of our group decided to book this. Not reading about it before didn’t know what to expect. Made to feel very welcome and can only comment on Cesar salad which was delicious though experience was made all the better by the bottomless mimosa deal. I have very warm memories of New York and this place will hold a special place in my heart.

Great spot for a more formal lunch - we had been recommended to go here by a friend who had holidayed in NY before us. We had 2 starters and 2 mains - you were also given a complimentary bread basket. Good service and great portions. It was probably the most expensive meal we had in NY but was worth it (this is mainly because it was our only nice, more formal sit down meal - we only stopped for bagels or slices of pizza and quick meals on the go otherwise as we had so much sights to see!) I would recommend it here and would love to go back of an evening when I expect there is more of an atmosphere.

It isn’t the easiest thing to find a table for nine in New York City, so reservations are a must and research is required. My brother-in-law thankfully found this location for our post concert family celebration. Just a couple steps down from the street level, the colorfully decorated establishment makes good use of every nook and cranny. There are several rooms at the rear of the restaurant where large parties have some private space, and we made good use of the patio area in the way back. First off, our waiter/server was exceptional handling a large party with good humor, efficiency, accommodations and speed. All of the staff actually were friendly and helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, most of us to the “busting”. A majority of us had a pasta dishes—Pasta was perfectly al dente in all cases, the clams in the red or the white sauce were succulent but tender, the penne à la vodka thrilled both of its consumers, and the homemade pappardelle seafood special got two full snaps in a circle. The chicken dishes also received high praise— Milanese and Parmesan— and the lucky winner of the osso bucco was thoroughly impressed (The last time he had the dish, it was in Rome and this rivaled that experience) The drinks came promptly when called and despite being stuffed to the gills, somehow we all had the room for dessert — The homemade Tiramisu was to die for, the cheesecake spectacular, and I believe my mother licked her plate after receiving the lemon cake with cream. Bonus, merchandise and food products available for purchase

Ordered in because we were babysitting for our grandchild. Ordered 2 calamari marinara over sautéed spinach. It came with 12 rings and a spoonful of spinach for $70. Do NOT order from them. Ripoff with mediocre food. Manager was a jerk when I called.

When you picture homely Italian food, this place is it. Nestled away from the noise is this bustling wee restaurant that is packed. The bar plays some great music, the food is brilliant and it has a romantic patio area to eat in.

Very good Italian food in the Lincoln Center area. Tables are a little tight, like many NYC spots. If you sit near the fireplace, it's warm.

Cozy warm atmosphere with friendly people. Food is delicious. Meatballs delicious and big! The stuffed mushrooms were my favorite appetizer. Loved the white?pizza. Such a relaxing place to spend time with girlfriends. Chocolate dessert the winner!!

Had a delicious brunch at Joanne Trattoria on the UWS. We entered a quaint bar/restaurant with a blazing fireplace, nice atmosphere while we ate a delicious Margarita pizza (which included ricotta as a topping) and a tasty walnut & arugula salad. There were many other full dinner choices and also a ‘design your own pizza’. Service was perfect! Although we finished our meal we stayed a bit longer and continued drinking our Prosecco and glass of Chardonnay. Good Italian food, a variety of wines, pleasant service and welcome atmosphere!

When I read some of the other reviews, I questioned whether I should give Joanna's a try. Some raves, some much less than stellar. Am I glad I went there today. My date and I went for the Sunday special--a Romaine salad and Spaghetti and Meatball. Just one twist, we asked to have the fresh pasta which today was fettuccine. Everything was delicious. Unlike typical overly salted gravy, the family gravy tasted fresh and tasty. The portions of both the salad and pasta were just right, not oversized. For dessert we had the cocoanut and lemon cake--also very nice. If only we had enough room to try the Nutellalasagna. Next time. The place is small and cozy. This is a small family place with very good service. I for one am glad I came and look forward to my next visit.

The staff was friendly, although I'm not sure why we were seated next to the kitchen when there were many other tables for two elsewhere in the restaurant. But our location didn't detract from our meal. We ordered from the prix fixe menu - eggplant and chicken parm, choice of salad, and glass of wine. The atmosphere is cozy and the location is convenient to Lincoln Center. A good value.

Authentic Italian.. very very good! Brava! I am fussy with Italian food but this was beautiful. You can tell this food is made with love.

Major disappointment. One of our family is a huge Lady Gaga fan and had read about this restaurant, run by her parents. Our party had dinner on a Friday night, admittedly a traditionally busy time. Our waitress was friendly and the restaurant is quite lovely. However, the quality of the food was quite uneven. Bread was brought to the table - 2 slices of forgettable Italian bread, cut in half. A bad start. A Caprese salad was almost sent back. Very cold, it was obviously made much earlier and pulled out of the refrigerator. I understand that this is standard restaurant practice, but the tomatoes were mushy and the burrata cheese was not creamy but had set up to an off putting consistency. I ordered the spaghetti and meatball, not an adventurous choice, but I was curious to try their sauce and meatball. The sauce was ordinary, not remarkable in any way, and the same could be said for the meatball. The other dinners of chicken parm and penne pork ragu were much better - the ragu especially. Wish I had ordered it. Drinks were OK. Overall the service was lacking. Approximately 4 minutes after we had finished our salads, our entrees appeared. Our waitress never reappeared to ask if we wanted more drinks or to check how our dinners were. From being seated to paying the check, just over an hour elapsed, even though we had drinks and salad as a starter. Joanne's seems to be more interested in turning tables as quickly as possible than providing excellent food and service. There are far too many other excellent Italian restaurants in NYC to waste time going here.

Last night’s dinner for two at Joanne’s was incredibly memorable. The restaurant itself is very comfortably laid out in an unpretentious design and has a outdoor seating space too. My dinner companion and I started off with a lovely pink colored Cosmopolitan cocktail (to honor “Sex & the City’s, twentieth anniversary), which was undoubtedly one of the best made we have ever drunk to date. For appetizers, we instantly devoured, “Joanne’s meatballs” and the “Tuscan Bean Salad”. Both were perfectly made and had tremendous flavor. For entrees, I had the sensational, “Lobster Ravioli” while my dinner companion enormously enjoyed the “grilled salmon” with white bean artichoke sauce and seasonal vegetables. For dessert, we split the luxuriously made, “chocolate mousse cake” and by then we were both in food heaven! The staff who served us did such an impeccable job that overall we plan to dine there again and again and again. I highly recommend Joanne’s to anyone looking for a terrific evening with exceptional food! Jeff M.

Food tasted microwaved and frozen. Service was poor. The food came at different times so my fiancées food went cold while waiting for my plate.

This restaurant brought back memories of what the manhattan culinary scene used to have a lot of - restaurants with a neighborhood vibe, friendly and personal service, and food prepared with care and love. I love the "mom & pop" vibe here. Even more important, the food is excellent and is offered at a reasonable price. Will definitely return.

I often come here before the opera, and always enjoy it. It's a bit pricey, even for Manhattan, considering the "homey" feel. But the food is very good, the portions are large :), and the service always excellent. My issue, which is why I may not return, is that it's just too loud. I imagine this is a function of wall materials, or ceiling material, or table density--I really don't know. But it's really loud so I think I'll have a look for another pre-opera spot.

the staff was rude, not very attentive, when we changed the pasta dish souse the waiter decided to overcharge with no real good explanation. simply avoid at all cost. Their ability to cook an Italian meal is lacking. The pasta was tasteless, ala kveze ... seems to me that they have received their rating by cheating . Avoid at all cost !

We really enjoyed our visit to Joanne. It was a short taxi ride from our hotel, so we thought we’d give it a go. It was at least 75% full and they managed to fit us in without a reservation. While quite small, the restaurant has a lot of charm and definitely gave off a welcoming, family-run trattoria vibe. We sat on a table right by the wood fire, which was a little hot for me but perfect for my wife. The covered terrace outside looked very cute as well and I imagine it’s very pleasant when the weather is warmer. The service was friendly and delivered with a smile. Food was classic Italian, with pastas, pizzas and traditional meat and fish dishes. All of our food was well cooked and tasty. Recommended for a chilled and low key dinner to escape the hustle and bustle of NYC.

The food is out of this world and the service was unreal! What a great little find. A friend suggested this place and we weren’t disappointed. They take reservations which we booked for 630. For there a bit early and they were very accommodating!

Had to dine here and get the signature family recipe Spaghetti & meatballs!! Delicious!! They have a cute outdoor patio, excellent cocktails and I loved my server Josh!! I hope to see him on Broadway soon!! Thanks Lady Gaga & Germanotta Family 🙏🏼

What a fabulous local Italian eatery! I loved every minute of dining here. Service was excellent. Wine was excellent. Overall vibe was excellent. The menu is wonderful with many Italian classics to choose from. I had the artichoke dip and the wonderful spaghetti and meatballs for my main. Scrumptious!

We were staying at The Phillips Club and this is within walking distance. We found it to be just average. Nothing to be jumping up and down about.

Being a Gaga fan, I decided to visit Joanne before her concert on Monday. Love the quiet location beside Central Park. The space is very intimate, we were seated by the kitchen which was slightly annoying, but I understand due to the limited space. Cocktails were a bit too strong, but the lasagna della casa was beautiful, the sauce was so tasty. The nutellasagna was okay, although still cold in the middle.

Upon entering the restaurant from a cold and wet NYC, I was brusquely told by an obnoxious American to close the door although what she didn’t see was me holding it open for guests leaving. I simply turned and said ‘well I can once these people have left’ and she told me ‘no need to be rude’! Never mind the fact that we had just been out in the awful weather and she was tucked up all nice and cosy inside. So anyway, welcome! It was downhill from there really. The girl who showed us to our table apologised on the customers behalf, but you can tell that the place attracts that sort of person just because ‘it’s lady gaga’s parents place, so we’re obviously really special’. The waiting staff are ok, but, again, obnoxious because they think they’re it. Smiles and service just didn’t seem genuine and you can tell they believe they’re the best of the best. Food ok, but honestly the entire establishment is just hype as someone else said on here. You’re better off heading to Little Italy for an Italian American experience.

I chose to eat at Joanne's based on a recommendation from a local. It's near Lincoln Center so a great place to dine before a show or opera. Yes, I did see Lady Gaga but be aware that New Yorkers keep their cool about it and don't run up to ask for pictures (how rude that is apparently). I had the Lemon Artichoke Chicken but asked for some Tomato "Gravy" (tomato sauce) on the side because I was told to try it. Everything was wonderful. I also loved the lavender drink I ordered and it was huge so worth every penny. No time for dessert but I heard other regulars saying it was amazing. I will be back to this restaurant for sure on my next visit to the city. There's a lovely patio outside too that you may want to consider if you are with a big group - it was beautiful.

We had very disappointing dinner during our stay in the city. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and very moody bar person. Menu is on a small tablet that is either broken or takers forever to load so you might wanna eat before as it take ages to order. Our starter was amazing - meatballs - but main was plain, bland and not very imaginary - pasta.

It was a wonderful evening. The restaurant is really cute offering inside and outside seating options. Service was great with multiple people being very attentive. We got the chicken parm and the seafood macaroni cheese. Both were delicious. The tiramisu was also really great. Would definitely come back - great location if you’re headed to Lincoln Center.

Met a friend for a fabulous Sunday brunch at Joanne Trattoria and it certainly did not disappoint! Great, friendly service in an intimate atmosphere complete with a live guitarist. We enjoyed wine and the chopped salad as well as the meatballs which were insanely good. Highly recommend this cozy spot for your next outing!

The restaurant is shabby. Although it was freezing outside, we were seated in a garden area that was cold and damp. There was a fireplace but it didn't provide much warmth in what was basically a tent. Then they turned it off. The service was not good. The food was worse. This entire restaurant needs a make-over. I think this place only stays in business because the owners are the parents of a famous person. Truly, the food wasn't good at all and the atmosphere was terrible.

Saw this on a housewives episode and thought the food looked good - and it was! Great atmosphere, service and delicious Italian dishes. Meatballs, sausage, pizza all great! Next time will try the pasta. Intimate and cozy dining in the patio room.

Outstanding dinner. Reasonably priced. Service was also great. Named after Lady Gaga's mother. Had the chicken parm and my wife the mussels. Carrot cake was outstanding.

We went here for my partner’s birthday, and she is gluten free / celiac. Despite the note that they carry GF pasta, the server was not aware of what else on the menu was OK or off limits, and none of the desserts are OK for gluten free. That all happens; that’s my fault for not checking more closely. The restaurant, however, needs to be more respectful to all diners as the service was somehow both rushed and evasive (sort of a tough trick to pull off). We made a reservation noting my partner’s condition that was ignored, the server was put off by the question about what was or was not GF, the secondary help threw (literally) gluten-filled bread on the table which was then knocked over by a guest trying to navigate the narrow passage between tables, and when we got to desserts the server brings over the board and then rolled her eyes saying “oh wait, gluten free, yeah sorry we don’t have that.” Everything took place in under an hour, but after the non-dessert the server avoided talking to us and we needed to ask for the check On top of all that, the GF pasta was water-logged and effectively flavorless. For the price point where they are trying to play, it’s absolutely 100% not worth it. If you need gluten free Italian in NYC, go to Bistango or Senza Gluten or even Tali. For just a nice night out, there are 50 other places serving similar fare with better prices and service. I’m not typically offering one-star reviews here but given the star power of the ownership and its potential appeal to tourists, I would strongly suggest avoiding this one and letting it turn over to new people for the benefit of the neighborhood.

The food was average at best, and seriously overpriced (I know, it's the upper west side). I'm not giving it a poor rating because the food isn't bad, rather it's just very mediocre. Don't waste your time and money here. There's much better Italian food to be had in Manhattan.

I went here after seeing it featured in the Lady Gaga documentary on Netflix... the ambiance is great and i loved the fact that LG’s parents still run the place. That being said... when it comes to the food, it’s ‘meh’ at best. I mean, I’ve had worse, if this were in the Midwest it’d be 5 star, but this is NYC, home of some of the best authentic Italian food outside of Italy! You have to step up your game! I had the lasagne and it was good, but not as fresh and delicious as what you’ll get at a hundred other restaurants within a 3 mile radius. The bread was not freshly made, more like store bought and not even warmed. The service was also lackluster. They had just opened for dinner service and i was literally the only person in the restaurant and i think they forgot i was even there at all! Took forever on drink refills and they weren’t even remotely friendly... and remember, i was the ONLY PERSON THERE! Anyhow, that being said, if you’re a Gaga fan, then you definitely want to come here - her parents are routinely here too, they weren’t when i was there, but i heard that was rare. Just go enjoy the ambiance and not for the food, because if you’re into some authentic Italian food - you may want to go somewhere else!

So we travelled a great distance to eat at the famed Joane Tratoria restaurant in NYC owned by Lady Gaga and her Mother. We were a group of 4 and while I was very happy with my food (chicken Alfredo), the other 3 in our party were not. The bread was similar to a piece of dry pine wood and the tomatoe sauce was over the top sweet. The mini iPad menu was a complete disaster and the service was generally poor. It wasn't particularly busy, we were just ignored and certainly didn't feel like we were welcomed. The ambiance and overall experience was really kind of Olive Garden ish except the bill was definietly not. Generally a bummer I'd say.

Good welcome and great atmosfere although there’s no real Italian food. Meals looks like they are pre prepared and only warmed up in the microwave. Cannolo and house wine were very good.

I found Joanne to be an average restaurant with average ambiance, service and food. I received a generous portion of the spaghetti and meatballs I ordered, but the house salad was very small and only contained iceberg lettuce and a few diced tomatoes: pretty chintzy/cheap. I would not return there.

When entering the restaurant, the greeter welcomed us very kindly. We were seated immediately in a room, that felt like I was in a garden in Tuscany. I ordered the eggplant, and my friend ordered the Alfredo . We each had a glass of wine. No room for dessert this time. But we will be back. I highly recommend this restaurant, if you like cozy, warm and superior service, this place is for you.Thank you ,Joanne for a wonderful experience.

We were seated near the exit near the hostess. They said there was no other seating when we asked to be seated elsewhere. This was a reservation made at least a month in advance! The bar tender had to serve us between mixing drinks for the entire restaurant. It was obviously a bench that was designed for waiting for a table within the dining room to open up. I want to be clear here. There is a management decision to pack in a couple more tables at the entrance where the busboys and delivery people are coming through every few minutes. I walked through the restaurant and saw at least SIX empty tables. One of the dishes was seafood mac and cheese. Two shrimp and two scallops. Absurd.

A great authentic Italian restaurant just a few blocks from Lincoln Center and Central Park. Tight seating NY style but great friendly service. Lots of local Italians eating there. That says it all !!!

Overall, a disappointing experience. Went with my sister (she’s a huge Gaga fan and this is Gaga’s family’s restaurant). We went on a Wednesday, expecting to get the Prix Fixe menu however same is offered Sun, Mon-Tues and Thurs. We were not greeted when we entered the restaurant. We stood there, ignored, for several minutes before a customer sitting at the bar alerted the hostess to acknowledge us. The hostess was not friendly at all, bordering rude. A young server accidentally spilled Parmesan cheese on our table/floor and she admonished him for using rags to clean it up (not sure what else he was supposed to use?!) in front of customers which we found very unprofessional of her. Our server was very pleasant, no complaints with him. The food was average at best. I had the manicotti, it was ok but cold in the middle. The prices were high for the quality. We did order a bottle of Gaga wine (appx $55USD) which was really nice. All in all, I dont recommend. There are so many other restaurants in Manhattan why bother with a mediocre one. Trust the reviews.

This restaurant does have ambience but service was horrendous. Went there for lunch with two friends before seeing a matinee at Lincoln Center. The hostess was doing double duty; she also was the only waitress. My lunch, chicken parmigiana was good but one of my friends had a chicken dish; her chicken was a bad piece of meat. Due to the awful service, there was no time to order something else. Upon exiting this restaurant, I noticed the rating displayed in the window was "Pending", which leads me to wonder what the violations were. I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant, but was very disappointed; will not go there again.

We went to Joanne for my birthday and had a fantastic meal. I'm not a massive Lady Gaga fan, but it was fun to visit the restaurant for that connection. (It is owned by her dad and named after her late aunt.) I had a seafood mac and cheese which was heavenly. I struggled to eat it, just because it was so big, but I would define recommend it to someone who likes seafood. My husband had meatballs as also really enjoyed it, but I think my dish won! We were so full by the end of it we couldn't order a dessert, but we did buy their cookbook for $20 so we can try and make some of the dishes at home.

Slow service. The waiter took our drink order quickly. However, after waiting 25 minutes we had to chase down the waiter to put in the food . They took another 40 minutes to bring our food. We ordered ordered calamari, house salad, chicken parm and pasta bolognese. Very safe choice, we thought, since had never been here before. Food quality on par with Olive Garden restaurant. Never coming back so with many other great options around.

I usually select this restaurant because of its proximity to Lincoln Center. Very good food and service. Tables a little close together, but it's New York.

I hate to give this place such a low rating but it was far below what I expected. When I reserved a table for Sunday's Spaghetti dinner night, I was thinking delicious authentic Italian food; what I got was a horribly dry plain meatball on top of under cooked pasta and a tasteless sauce. If it wasn't for the poor waitress running like crazy in the room as it was clearly under staffed, this place would get a one.

We ate our special vacation dinner here. We loved the atmosphere and the fact that we felt like we were in a neighborhood restaurant and not a touristy spot.

This is a terrific place for a neighborhood Italian restaurant. The spaghetti with meatballs was excellent. It is noisy and the service may be a bit abrupt but we enjoyed ourselves here. It surpassed our expectations.

Decided to give it a try, didn’t do any google, review researches. Big, huge mistake. Only upside, everyone who works there is friendly and very nice. The food is mediocre and tasteless. Also, once you order anything it arrives on your table in less than 5 minutes. There’s no easy it’s made to order or even prepared to order. And yes it is very overpriced.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!! We had booked here for our wedding breakfast on Friday December 15th 2023. The service we received was exceptional! Amir was very attentive and had decorated our table beautifully with items we had brought in the night previous. The restaurant really filled up and had a great vibe. The food we had was to die for and the portion sizes huge! Prices very reasonable also. The Gaga Pinot Noir is delicious. I chose this restaurant for the cuisine and location and it was perfect in every way. We had popped in the night before and had a drink at the bar and were made to feel very welcome by the bar staff and locals before even revealing why we were there. Can't recommend enough. Will definitely return. Big thanks to Amir & Sydney.

Small Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side, where we tried to optimize as much as possible by putting the tables in all possible locations (ours was against a low wall and was slightly leaning). The menu is rich (meat, pasta, pizza, risotto, etc.) but expensive ($25 excluding tax for pasta). This is what we took; they were very good. A single glass of wine and a single dessert, the bill is rather hefty: 100 dollars with the tip….

We are from the UK. First visited a few years ago because of the connection to Lady Gaga as we are huge fans. Wanted to visit the bar this time and sit and have drinks. We were in NYC for 2 weeks and went 3 times! Absolutely wonderful experience, great drinks , the cocktails are top notch. Happy hour is great value, what really made the experience for us was chatting to other customers, and most of all the staff. Danny behind the bar deserves a huge shout out, he was welcoming and chatty, but looking after everyone and making superb drinks at the same time, Shyla (sorry if I have not spelled correctly) was the same, they were both amazing, and didn’t mind us chatting away to them about their work and lives in NYC. Also can highly recommend Parmesan fries and pizza as a bar snack too, which we were still able to have and not have to move to the restaurant. Can’t wait to go back one day x

Restaurant look and feel is great! Very, very cozy. Food however is poor at most. We tried the meet ball and the white sauce pasta. I do not recommend any of them. Plus, it is a very pricey place for the food they offer.

The food was just average We were offered the worst tables The chairs &floors were wet A waiter gave us a napkin to wipe our chairs .Even the chairs cushion were damp We were not the only patrons who complained about it .

The servers are brilliant so warm and attentive and make the experience and the food was exquisite one of the best meals we've had it made us feel like we were in Italy again. A must visit when in New York i'd especially recommend the family recipe meatball and pasta!

Food was below average. Not very tasty for Joe’s special eggplant. Wine was worst ever. Cheapest wine i ever tasted for $40. Worst $175 dollars i ever spent

Food was just ok nothing to rave about. Being Italian and knowing REAL Italian food I was surprised. Meatball had hint of garlic and not much else in flavor. Sauce was just that no basil or garlic flavor. If you order spaghetti and meatball you get 1 large meatball on top of medium size portion of spaghetti. Chicken parmigiana is 1 small square of frozen chicken defrosted with little sauce and mozzarella cheese on top with small side of spaghetti. Not worth $46. The waiter who we only saw at the end of the meal asked if we wanted dessert. We said yes and he brought a large chalkboard with over priced desserts listed on it. Tiramisu had an awkward taste and the carrot cake tasted more like spice cake. Definitely not worth the money spent. It’s all hype for a restaurant family owned who’s family is a famous entertainer. Go to Mulberry St. for real Italian food.

I took my daughter there for her 16th birthday. She loves Lady Gaga & was excited to eat at her parents restaurant. We had great service and food was good. Cute, small place with nice outdoor seating

A smallish restaurant favored by locals, Joanne's claim to fame is that its owner is the mother of Lady Gaga, who, to my knowledge, has never made an appearance. If she did, she'd find rather small tables squeezed together in an underlighted environment. The food is fair, with the bone-in ribeye one of the better choices. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient, and the prices are appropriate--not too high, not too low.

I was at Joanns last night had a great time . the service was excellent the only disappointment was the bread I really don't consider that bread what they give you. I am accustomed to real Italian bread the type you would buy on Arthur Avenue and also in many Italian restaurants in the Bronx that I go to. the bread at Joanns is not Italian bread I don't know what it is but I guess they cater to a Upper West side millennial young crowd that likes that type of bread other than that I had a great time the food is great and I will be going back but I only wish they would serve real Italian bread not what they're giving now

Our family of four visited Joanne for lunch on June 9, 2018. We enjoyed the Spaghetti & Meatball, Penne Broccoli Rabe & Sausage, and the Meatball Parmesan Hero with mac ’n’ cheese. The entire menu is available during lunch. We recommend reservations for dinner. The food was delicious, service good, and ambience very pleasant.

We visited Joanne at the recommendation of a friend. Charming little restaurant. We had hoped to dine on the patio, but they had a private party. Our food was excellent. Nice wine selection, and a full bar too. We'll definitely be back.

I reserved for 4 friends I was happy to bring my friends with me since I visited this place in 2016 and it was great. The table was moving and we asked if it could be fixed, the waiter said it was not possible.. At the end he did it when he saw that the table was moving a lot. Then we had awful dishes. Not flavor on them and really bad also with warm wine. Then finally we got the bill with a forced tip of 20%..when asked why? They told us it was "Christmas time". Don't ever go unless you want to pay for bad food and awful service. Sad!

We really enjoyed our lunch at Joanne's. We ate the famous meatballs and a very good pasta. The service was very friendly and sweet. We bought the cookbook and the Chef came to sign it. What a Nice thing! Wonderful meal and experience.

Lady Gaga‘s father owns this place… But that’s not why you should go there… If you’re looking for wonderful Italian food this is the perfect place… We absolutely love their homemade focaccia… And their meatballs ….Chicken Milanese… Everything just feels very authentic… Lots of choices from Fish to steak… Wonderful neighborhood restaurant.

Reviewed this restaurant on TripAdvisor prior to going and thought we’d give it a try because we love Lady GaGa and thought it would be a great place.. Average is about it. Service was pretty blah... waitress was uninterested in being there, didn’t bother to tell us any specials nor had little interaction with her guests. Food was very good!! The table wasn’t set like all the others, had to ask for olive oil like all the other tables, waitress only checked on us when we got our order and when we received our check. A bit pricey for the experience and cocktail menu was a bit much. Hygiene at the bar was an issue with the bartender. Worst part of the experience was that the entire restaurant smelled of dishwater and someone cleaning the floors. Otherwise it was good... should’ve went to Little Italy.

My friend and I had heard great things about this restaurant and we were not disappointed! Excellent eggplant Parmesan!

Awesome! My daughter and I were going to My Fair Lady and researched restaurants in the Lincoln Center area. Joanne's popped right up. I haven't had Italian food that good since moving to Texas 37 years ago. I had the chicken parm, and my daughter had the lemon chicken with artichokes. Both were beyond good. Next time we're in NYC, we will definitely go back to Joanne's. Can't recommend this enough.

Went there for dinner before a show at Lincoln Center. Very nice place. Service was excellent as was the food and drinks. Was quite happy with the food especially. Would definitely go again!

Joanne's was a great restaurant for lunch before a show nearby. It was not very busy at noon and we were able to sit in the back in fresh air, but covered from the drizzle. I ordered from the Prefix Menu and had a small ceasar salad, glass of wine, and eggplant parm with a spaghetti side, and bread. All of the food was excellent, the pasta sauce was tasty, and price was very good. My friend had chicken marsala and said it was the best ever. Amir was our server and he was very friendly and courteous and an asset to the restaurant.

Outside nor inside decor is extremely fancy but the food is worth it. Priced okay, they had a live singer performing which is nice. Had pasta and fish which was fresh. Would go back again.

Great Italian restaurant, on side st. Street parking if driving. Small bar area with a couple of tables, half booth and 2 side chairs, enough space for 3-4 people. Dining area inside towards the back with an outdoor patio as well. Very quaint. Reservations suggested. Service was very good. Red house wine, very good, appetizers, rice balls, one of the best I've tried. Entrees, chicken parmigiana with spaghetti cooked perfectly, salmon dish the same. Meatballs good, a bit to much garlic for my taste. Summary: good food, service & atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

The fact that I was charged $7.44 for a credit card processing fee bc Joanne’s chooses to use a service that charges the customer extra fees to offset their operational expenses is duplicitous and unwarranted. CARBONE, a much better Italian restaurant doesn’t! If Joanne’s want the privilege of letting their customers charge their meals then they should PAY FOR IT themselves and not sneak in this charge. Additionally, and I will be calling my credit card company, after reviewing my receipt, they gave themselves a 30% tip, when I only authorized a 20% tip on the iPad. I do not enjoy being stolen from. I feel ripped off and violated. I am going to make sure this review is posted on EVERY review site I can. Just disgusting horrible behavior from the thieves at Joanne’s!

Very nice breakfast and the lunch and dinner look very pleasant as well. Nicely decorated in a townhouse setting with attentive service. Unusual but familiar dishes are delightful to try. Prices are reasonable and it is a pleasant dining experience. It also is quiet and you can hear yourself think. A true New York idyl spot

We visit NYC 5-6 times a year. Joanne has always been one of our "go to"restaurants. On our last visit - we noticed some changes - and got the impression that the ownership had changed. If so - that would explain the decidedly down grade in the food. The food was cold and the veal was chewy. We'll probably give it one more chance -but there are too many options on the UWS to waste a visit to a mediocre restaurant. Hope it was a one off.

Whilst the waiting staff were friendly and attentive, the food was mediocre at best. There were very few vegetarian options and “Joanne’s Chicken Parmesan” was bland and tasteless. I felt like channelling Monica from Friends and teaching the chef how to make a decent tomato sauce. How this could be a signature dish I have no idea. My strong recommendation would be to save your money and go elsewhere.

Wines: the house red at $10/glass is a good choice. The malbec at $14-not so much. The mac and cheese w/seafood, just forget this mushy mess. The spaghetti and meat ball- well now, the meat ball could have come from Cosco but it was too large. The spaghetti was a mushy mess and the the spaghetti had been broken into little pieces. What!? I look like a child? The sauce, other than the consistency is unremarkable. The pizza has a thin Neapolitan crust but was likely semi-prepared for serving long in advance of being ordered as it too was soggy. The service: we were seated in the bar area. The wait person had to contend with the bar customers and the table service in the bar. The result: dismal service.

Quaint and quiet and cozy. Food was bland. Fair portion size though. Service fast but not overly friendly. All the hype surrounding the restaurant because of who owns it leads to disappointment when you actually eat there.

The place has got ambience to it- however did not fit the hype that preceded it. The tables are wayy too close next to each other, and the service staff wasnt the most polite crowd. They seemed . "done" with the service once we were served with the food. Expected far better really

We had a great dinner at Joanne’s Trattoria before seeing “My Fair Lady” at the Lincoln Center and were delighted with the experience. The restaurant is small and has a friendly and almost family feeling to it. We felt welcome and comfortable from our arrival through the entire meal and left smiling and in a happy, relaxed frame of mind to see the play. Service was fast and efficient and the taste, portion size and presentation of our meals could not have been better. Everything was beyond our expectations and we will definitely return! JoAnne’s was a truly great find! Jimmy and Catie Brown

Joanne never fails to impress me! Their meatballs are unbeatable and the sangria is divine. The atmosphere is always welcoming and friendly, just wish the restaurant was a little bigger! People may complain about the price, but I'm willing to pay a little more for the type of experience you receive at this beautiful establishment!

I visited Joanne's with an open table gift card. I asked the waitress before I ordered if they accepted open table gift cards and she told me they did. When the check came, they could not process the gift card. No apologies from the uninformed waitress. I asked the manager for some sort of comp but no avail. DUPED!!!

They tasted like breadcrumbs. NO flavor or texture. Also, the fresh angel hair pasta all stuck together in one glob. The setting was pleasant (except for a strange smell upon entering). Would not return.

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a place. Was here for my best friends wedding breakfast. Food was delicious, huge portions. Service was outstanding, a very warm and welcoming restaurant. O and the complimentary champagne for the table was a lovely touch. Will definitely return next time I am in New York City.

My wife and I went to this restaurant based on the reviews which we read and also because we happened to be in the area. The waiter who greeted us was not very friendly. We were seated at a very small table. Prior to the main course we were given 2 small pieces of bread which tasted like they were one week old. I had Chicken Marsala. It was a small portion. The chicken was nice but the pasta was not cooked well. The mushrooms were burned and did not have a good taste. I ordered ice tea. It arrived with so much ice that I did not taste any tea. It was like drinking cold water. My wife had lasagna which she said was good with the exception of the tomato sauce which was not good. There are much better Italian restaurants in Manhattan than this place

What a wonderful experience!! This little restaurant has a cozy, comfortable ambiance. The fireplaces are just beautiful! The service was absolutely top notch! Best service in NYC, hands down. Food was amazing, even the cocktails were worth mentioning! They were absolutely delish! Don't miss out on a great meal at this fantastic little place!

I really wanted to like this place but the cooking is mediocre at best. Half the dishes were not very good and the ones that were ok were nothing special. Lasagne was a real disappointment. Anyone who has had the shaved brussels sprout salad at Lupa would be excited that they attempt this here but will ultimately be unhappy with this bitter dry version. Somehow the place is crowded- i guess they want to touch the Gaga vibe but they need to focus on the food.

We went to Joanne on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Our servere, Amir, was excellent! The weather was beautiful, so we sat on the patio. Our food was delicious and served quickly and piping hot! Our cocktails and wine were excellent! The prices are very reasonable and competitive for Manhattan. There is NO fee for using a credit card. I highly recommend!

The worst food in my experience from Paris to Rome to NYC. When a child receives a pizza that looks like a burnt Mid-Eastern bread and has the texture of a wet Bounty and then bursts into tears because it is clearly not a pizza, that tells you all. The adult dishes were equally pathetic. Not even the most ill funded food kitchen would serve such detritus. I am amazed at the clueless folk who filled the tables.

We came to Joanne’s for the “Drag Me To Joanne’s”, the show was fun, rather short. Three drag queens, 2 performances each. All were talented and fun to watch. First, the service was good. Unfortunately that where it stopped. Our food was flavorless and expensive. I ordered the calamari and rigatoni puttanesca pasta, menu said “spicy” - wasn’t. Drinks were good and the dessert was equally disappointing.

One of our travel companions wanted to try Joanne Trattoria, after reading about to Gaga connection. While we didn’t have the fortune to run into any celebrities (not really expecting to), we were so pleased by all other aspects of our visit. We had reservations for 2:00 and found the restaurant to be relatively quiet. Our server was a delight, and promptly addressed all of our needs. While our friends ordered a meatball sub and the frittata, we went with spaghetti and eggplant meatballs, along with the house salad. While everything was good, we found the tomato gravy to be particularly tasty. Overall, we couldn’t have been more pleased. The experience was well worth the walk to the upper west side.

Stopped by for lunch before a matinee. We were pleasantly surprised to discover they offer a 'pre fixe' lunch for $19.99 that includes an entree, Caesar salad, side of pasta and a glass of wine! I had the chicken parm and it was fantastic! The portions were just right for lunch and it cost $19.99!!!! In Manhattan!! The service was excellent. The atmosphere is wonderful. It was our second visit to Joanne, and we will be back! LOVE THIS PLACE!! I highly recommend!

Perfect place to celebrate my 55th birthday, August 13th. Gift/surprise from my husband and my children, a wish expressed for several months because they are fans of Lady Gaga and the Germanotta family being Sicilian from Messina. The food is great, the staff very nice, the place a wedding favor, welcoming. I thought I'd at least find Germanotta's parents.

This was our first visit to Joanne and hopefully will be our last. The best thing we ate was the fried calamari and the mixed Italian salad. I ordered linguine aglio olio which had no taste whatsoever, not even the garlic. Others had broccoli rabe and sausage with penne which they claimed was good. The sausage had no taste and I don't think it was Italian sausage. One had steak with french fries which was ordered medium rare but came out well done. Everything in this restaurant is ala carte. It is a pricey venue and I don't believe it is worth the money.

How can you really screw up an Italian meal? First, high expectations... after all, this is Gaga's parent's place. Second, they're Italian. So, you gotta believe this is a can't miss place. Third, this place is on the Upper West Side, near Lincoln Center... pricey real estate. Gotta be good. So, here is my experience... I arrive casual, and I take a seat at the bar. Did I really need to have a suit or a sport jacket? My sense is the bartender judged me, and I quickly had the feeling I didn't belong. Nonetheless, I wanted to experience Joanne Trattoria. So, I stuck with my commitment to dine at Joanne's. It got worse. I had the overwhelming sense that Valentina didn't want me at HER bar. So uncomfortable. I ordered Joanne's spaghetti & meatball, the Germanotta family recipe. It arrived really quickly. My signal to 'get out', and get out now. But, I ate it, and it the marinara sauce tasted like Ragu from a jar. So, as much as I had looked forward to this experience, it was disappointing on many levels. And, I should add... I'm not a harsh critic. Wow. I will not be back, and I'll discourage anyone from being sucked into the cache of Gaga's parent's place. This was bad. Really bad. Two stars is generous.

This place must be staying in business due to the Lady Gaga connection. Frankly put, that's one reason we found it. It was an awful experience. Bread at the table was inedible due to dryness. Focaccia was bland pizza dough with a few onions. Eggplant meatballs were in a warm sauce, but were cold inside. Entrees were carelessly prepared mediocre dishes. This was nothing close to a decent restaurant, and much closer to a Times Square tourist trap. Yuck.

My sister and I ate at Joanne Trattoria before attending a Broadway show. It is conveniently located just a couple of subway stops away from Times Square. We were glad that we had made a reservation, because it was a busy Saturday night. This was the "splurge" meal of our vacation, so we ordered drinks and dessert in addition to our meals. Everything was fantastic. The only reason I rated it a 4 and not a 5 is because it was pretty small inside, the tables are practically touching one another. So I would not recommend this if you are looking for a more "romantic" or intimate meal. Otherwise, everything was really nice!

You walk into this cosy warm inviting space , greeted with a nice smile and you seem impressed , and sadly that’s were it’s stops , we ordered two pizza & dear me they were very very poor. 1 overloaded with cheese, far far to much and pre packed formulated pizza bases, c’mon 20 plus dollars for this. Goes to show you can have the prettiest cosiest settings but if the food is cheap / poor quality , unfortunately that’s what you will remember

As we were in the States to see Lady Gaga in Las Vegas my daughter really wanted the whole experience so we booked here. I have no idea whether Gaga's family are still involved but this certainly was not 'Family Italian' cooking. It wasn't bad. It was just nothing out of the ordinary. Plenty of Italian restaurants serving up simple fare and doing it way better. Most of the food looked pre-prepped and was certainly delivered with such speed that it was not plated to order. Not cheap either. This is a wee local trattoria. Should be well-priced, fresh and homely. Doesn't really tick any of those boxes. Mediocre at best.

This place used to be a wonderful UWS great Italian spot. Recently they decided to raise prices on all the items and cut the portions. The result is an embarrassment for an Italian restaurant on the upper west side (where there are TONS of alternatives). We have gone three times since these new changes to confirm that they really are permanent and sadly they are. If you want to spend $28 for a dish of two tiny chicken medallions, by all means, visit Joanne. If you want to save $13 per entree and get the same quality Italian good and take home leftovers, go to any other establishment on the UWS. I have no clue why they are determined to ruin a good thing, but these new changes are sad and bad.

Waaaay too noisy. The singer was terrific but so loud, making conversation impossible. The menu used to be quite varies, now as boring as their stale bread. Our first course never arrived. By the time our second courses came, the salmon was totally dried out and the the clam sauce pasta was almost inedibly soupy. Our waited was lovely, very accommodating. But...I've been coming here for more than 10 years, but will not return. Shame on them!

Each time i'm in New York I always go back to Joanne's. I love how quaint the restaurant is! I do miss the nutellasagna though ;) Please bring it back somehow!

Nice food good service, friendly staff interesting decor and obviously the links with Lady Gaga makes it an interesting place. Food was nice but not special and a bit expensive $100 for two plates of pasta and drinks. Close to Central Park

Worst Italian food I've ever eaten. Service equally as bad. Appetizer also had an odd taste. Gnocchi was overcooked mush. Sauce has a bitter taste. Appetizer also had an odd taste. They were already out of lasagna even though we had an early reservation. Servers took forever to come to the table to great us and offer drinks. Then took a long time to take our order. The only reason this place stays in business is because it's lady gaga's father. She should be ashamed to put her name on this restaurant. If she is going to advertise her association to the restaurant, then she should make sure the food is at least decent.

The food wasn't terrible but it certainly wasn't very good. My pasta primavera had so little flavor that I had to add cheese and pepper to give it a zing. My husband's pasta and sausage was saved by the sausage which gave the dish some spice. If you are going to Lincoln Center and need a place to eat, then it is an option. But I'd never go there just to dine!

We recently got married in New York as a destination wedding from the UK and after celebrating our engagement with them we knew there was only one place for us to celebrate the wedding... Where do we start! We visited Joanne's for our wedding reception with ourselves and 35 guests-from start to finish they were wonderful, they let us arrive early to decorate the tables as we saw fit and use Spotify to play our own music. We arrived at midday and did our speeches first which they had the bubbles ready for us and some foccacia to stop our guests tummies from rumbling whilst we shared stories and as soon as we were ready the food came. First we had the ceaser salad which was so delicious even my friend who HATES salad ate it. They also made a different salad for our vegan and vegetarian guests and coeliac guests. After that came the chicken parmasaen and dishes of pasta in a tomato sauce cooked to perfection, our vegetarian guests had eggplant parmasaen and for our vegan guests they invented a eggplant dish which I was told was delicious. They also again provided separate pasta dishes for our vegan and coeliac guests. For dessert we had our wedding cake which they sourced from a local bakery a delicious chocolate cake that was also on their menu. After this the music was turned up and for the final hour the wine flowed freely, cocktails were made and downed and we partied. They asked we be out by 4:20 as they had dinner service from 4:30 but still agreed to our pleas of one more song when we didn't want the party to stop. The staff were wonderful, they even had a dance with us at one point as we agreed they deserved a break. Marianne, Emily and Alex looked after us all afternoon and Lady Gagas dad Joe or Mr G as he prefers to be called was also there and was happy to to chat, take photos and let us party. A wonderful touch was Mr G after realising we were massive lady gaga fans gave every one of our guests a copy of Gagas most recent album. I would reccomend this as a wedding reception to anyone having a small wedding in new York. Thank you for starting our marriage off perfectly.

Came mainly because we knew it was run by Lady Gaga's family, named after her Aunt, Joanne, but had a nice time! We had booked a table and were seated straight away. It had a lovely, cosy, Italian atmosphere and we were served quickly. I got a meaty pizza, which was okay, but would have been quite bland if not for the salty meat. My family got pasta dishes, which also seemed to lack a bit of flavour, but my brother got the meatball and spaghetti and he loved it. Staff were friendly and pricing was okay, slightly on the pricier side. Nice to experience, but not sure if I'd return.

I went to Joanne for a business related team dinner. We had a cute cozy room. It fit about 14 people in a big table. It was HOT because it was right next to the kitchen. I had on a short sleeve top so it wasn't so bad, but a few of my coworkers were about to collapse from the heat. However, the food was AMAZING! We had almost every appetizer listed and I had the Lobster Ravioli as my main entrée. Everything was absolutely spectacular!

I've only been to Joanne's for lunch and every time I go I plan on sampling something else on the menu but end up with the eggplant lunch special. It comes with a choice of sides and is more than enough to fill a hungry guy. The owners are the parents of a famous artist. I'm withholding her name because I'm not sure if I should post it here.

Awful. Bruschetta 4 sm pc. ridiculous! Calamari all fried bits and jalapenos but hardly any calamari! Eggplant meatballs tasted like ground dry wall. We asked for the free appetizer from the website offer, and were charged for it. Very poor. Lady Gaga needs to have a talk with her father and the chef. And at those prices-the worst.

Okay, so I did go to this restaurant because I'm a huge fan of Lady Gaga, because if she puts as much integrity, authenticity and hard work into her restaurant as she does her music...I"m a fan! Joanne is SUPERB! Casual dining with a back patio and private room for further entertaining, Joanne's menu is full of Germanotta family recipes and they have GLUTEN FREE pasta as an option! The cocktails are New York priced, but they are generous and delectable! Ask for a lemon drop, not sweet but with sugar on the rim! My friend ordered this and it was the best she's ever had. I had the Edge of the Law, if you're a tequila drinker, this hit's for you. Top notch Italian items like the eggplant parmesan and the bolognese were delicious! The salad, Cynthia's Chopped, has HUGE cubes of cheese and the small was enough to share for two, generous portions. It's not a cheap, but it's worth every penny. And you can definitely feel the spirit of Joanne in this place. I took a good look at the portrait of her on the wall, you can feel she is happy and watching over the place. Joanne is a culinary creation born from the memory of a beautiful, happy, bright spirit from a love-full family. And the food speaks for itself.

Good menu, decent wine list, excellent service. A very cozy, romantic feeling to Joanne's. The Tuscan bean salad and the Broccoli Rabe were both excellent. Brazino and Steak were also good. As a special treat, they do have a 20 year old Tawney Port for an after dinner drink. We sampled the Joanne Vino Rosso, give it time to breath. I would eat here again and it is convenient to Lincoln Center and yet off the beaten path. They are open until 11 PM.
Another delicious lunch
We visited NYC last year, and had lunch at Joanne only because of the Gaga connection - I’m a huge fan. The food was good then, and it was good again when we went back last week. Service was friendly and efficient, and the meatball hero with mac and cheese was delicious. Both times we went at lunchtime, and the restaurant was quiet, so I can’t say what it is like for dinner. The food was reasonably priced by NYC standards, and the tiramisu for dessert was as good as I’ve ever had. I’ll be back next time I’m visiting the city.
