My wife had lobster ravoli, and i had red snapper marechiara, both delicious. We started with an Italian cold anti pasta, that was very good. I must say the Napa Valley Chardonnay. was outstanding, and a good wine compliments any good meal, and the desserts were very good. We're coming back.

The restaurant is pleasant inside with reasonably priced Italian food. The service was excellent and the kitchen was fast. Importantly, the restaurant is basically in a basement location so a bit hard to find, and the steps could be a bit tricky for some seniors to handle. That said, Joe G definitely worth another visit!

We had a group of us and everything (EVERYTHING) was great. Try the Insalata di Rucola, the caprese, the pizzas, the tiramisu, it's ALL fantastic!~ Our waiter was Tony and he was great, and there was another waiter named Juan Jose that was amazing as well. Great food, great service and a restaurant I would visit again.

Food and service were good. I had eaten here with my family about a year ago, which prompted my return. On both visits we were served by a gentleman I would guess to be in his late 50s or 60s. While efficient, he was abrupt. His tips would probably be better, if he was more cordial / pleasant. He always seems impatient/ hurried.

We say at the bar and took advantage of Happy Hour with 2 glasses of house Red. Nikki (so) was the bartender and delightful. I had the Chicken Rollatini and Diane had the Chicken Frances with Lemon sauce. Both were excellent and we complimented the chef. Nice evening.

While walking by in search of a late lunch âUncle Tonyâ convinced us to stop in and give it a try. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious, and Uncle Tony chatted with us and gave us his best recommendations. I had the ravioliâwith his recommended special sauce (a brandy sauce). My husband had the gnocchiâwhich were definitely homemade. If you know Italian foodâyou know this is not often easy to find in an Italian restaurant. My daughter and her friend shared a pizza which they claimed was delicious. We will definitely return in the future. It felt like coming home for a meal with the family.

We ate at this restaurant because it was next to the hotel. We arrived during the happy hour on a Friday night and seated immediately at the bar table for 5. Told the waitress we would like to enjoy happy hour then have dinner. Great service, the lady told us she would get us a table when we were finished and include our drinks on the bill. Then we were given the best table in the house and had a wonderful meal. Tony was our waiter, very friendly, the best we had in a long time. We enjoyed our dinner with appetizers, pizza and lobster ravioli.. The restaurant was cozy with nice atmosphere. The bill was a good surprise for a NYC restaurant.

We dined at Joe G's first night as we stayed at Da Vinci Hotel. This made for a very convenient dinning option after long, busy, tiring day of sight seeing. As well, they were offering a 10% discount to Da Vinci Hotel guests. We had a bland vegetable soup and an average crab ravioli. Service was god, but we didnât go back to the restaurant, even though we had discount.

The friends we went to NY with say they go here every time they are there. While in the restaurant, we also noted another person who was familiar with the staff and always ensures he comes there when he travels despite living across the US. The staff is kind and helpful and have a nice way if making you feel like you belong. Be aware that there are stairs down into the restaurant - Iâm not sure they have handicap accommodations but you can always ask. The pizza was soooo good!

This restaurant is easy to miss...it's below a hotel on 56th Street. The food is very good traditional red sauce cuisine. They also have very good steaks and seafood. It's rarely crowded and it's very comfortable. Much cheaper and just as good as the much more popular Patsy's up the street. I'm a regular and take happy friends to this place regularly.

Restaurant was recommended by our hotel a block away. Great food. Comfortable surroundings. For a Friday night it did not have the busy feel other restaurants would be experiencing. We had salads, shrimp cup and bolognese pasta dish. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. Recommend this place. Good choice. Prices were reasonable. Itâs down a set of stairs from street level but understand they may have an elevator.

Found Joe G one nite while out looking for a bar what a great place food & drink was great .you eat at the bar ordering off the bar menu or in the restaurant happy hour was great we had 7 of us all sat at the bar & found the best bartender in NYC her name is Melissa & she is awesome service is great nothings a problem .I recommend u find this bar go have a drink & feed u won't be disappointed.its awesome.

We were headed to Patsy's off time square because of trip advisor ratings. But they were full and we had a taste for Italian so went a few doors down to Joe G's - and are we glad we did. We sat at a high-top in the bar and had a fabulous meal. My pizza fanatic son says it was 102 on a scale from 1 to 100. I opted for the chicken piccata (one of my favorites) - they had veal piccata on the menu, but made it with chicken at my request. With no exaggeration, it was the eat chicken piccata I have ever had. My husband had a Caesar salad and calamari. The salad was zesty and well coated without being overbearing. The calamari was very lightly floured and tender (not at all chewy). Overall and great experience. Glad we stumbled on it. Will return on out next trip to NYC. And it was very reasonable for New York. $100 for 4 with drinks for the adults.

Towards the end of the day we were looking for quiet place to sit, have a drink and something to eat. This was located in the basement. Our waiter was very friendly, food was excellent. My husband was happy as they had Coors Lite in the bottle!!

We stayed near the food is absolutely delicious the service is so friendly our waiter suggested a pizza for my kids to share it was so good it was more than enough for both, we had pastas great place to eat for sure

Before arriving in New York City we made reservations at several restaurants and Joe G. was one of those restaurants. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. The food was DELICIOUS and we throughly enjoyed our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and please make plans to eat here, you will be glad you did.

We had a family dinner at Joe Gâs just after arriving in New York. It is a basement, family owned restaurant with simple decor but good wholesome Italian food. We had pizzas and pasta and all family members were very pleased with their meal. Service was attentive but not intrusive and prices were reasonable. Portion sizes are good. We would recommend the restaurant for a simple authentic Italian experience.

Fabulous pizza. Tony was great and very accommodating. We were there at happy hour and the wine suggested was perfect. Cannoli was delicious. Can hardly wait to go back!!

Thank you Joe and family for the best New York dining experience. You helped us celebrate my daughterâs birthday engagement and you treated us like family. Joe and staff were amazing and the food was better than delicious, outstanding!! We went back and spent our last night in New York at Joe Gâs Ristorante Italiano because it was just that good.

We dined here on a Friday before a concert at Carnegie Hall. Found and booked them with Open Table. We arrived late for our reservation due to very heavy holiday traffic into the city from New Jersey (I called from the road to let them know). The Restaurant was very accommodative and told me not to worry, they would hold my table for us. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter took our order quickly, as he knew we had a concert to attend. Our wine, bread, and a tasty olive oil for dipping arrived soon after placing our order. The pasta primavera that we shared as an appetizer was served al dente and was delicious! We had two veal dishes - Marsala and Sorrentino. They were both tender and tasty! The portions are large. The Marsala was served with a generous amount of mushrooms with the Marsala sauce - a plus for me. A large piece of well made Tiramisu cake was more than enough to share for dessert. Seating is a little tight, as the space is limited, so conversations carry between tables. Overall a very good experience! The staff got us out in time to make our concert without diminishing the dining experience. While this was our first visit, we will certainly go back.

We were skeptical at first but WOW! Great place, nice people. Food was wonderful. We will surely be back now that we know.

My husband and I live in NYC and are always on the search for those neighborhood gems, with great food, reasonable prices, nice ambiance and not too snooty. This week we needed a pre-theatre spot and found Joe Gâs. Reviews were good and my only concern was itâs label as a pizzaria and restauant, which for me I imagined the pizza counter, laminated tables and paper napkins. Well, that was NOT the case! This pretty downstairs restaurant was charming, complete with cloth tablecloths, had attentive service, a great menu, fair prices, delicious food, and a pleasant ambiance. We had a great time. I recommend this restaurant. Thank you Joe Gâs.

This is an excellent restaurant for a group/family dinner Food: great Service: very personable and flexible Price: not cheap, but adequately priced for the quality Would come back any day! I love the Grappa and Ristretto.

The best staff and the best pizza I have ever tasted! Cosy and clean. The service is excellent and the drinks are perfect đ

Thanks to Nikki for the warm welcome and outstanding customer service. I look forward to my next trip to New York.

The food was excellent, sadly the lady manager was really bad. Really bad end. Hopelly the owner need to take actions.

Great little restaurant/bar, hidden down stairs. Excellent service, varied menu. We only stayed for drinks as we just started learning New York. We will come back for Lunch or Dinner.

Food was great, we had the specials of the night. Chicken Cacciatore and a Seafood platter, both where top class. Staff are good and very helpful to 'stupid tourists'. Staff where welcoming, casual and courteous which created a good atmosphere.

My husband and I had a cozy dinner here. Cesar salad and pizza with fabulous wine. Both pizzas tasted better and better with each bite. Very good. Service was attentive and friendly as well. All in all a very satisfying dinner.

We discovered this place almost by accident, we were hungry and walking along the street when a gentleman standing outside spoke about the restaurant. We wanted to try some good Italian food while visiting the city and we hit the jackpot with Joe G's. The food, wine and service were outstanding. Special shout out to our waiter Tony!! He was excellent and helped us celebrate our wedding anniversary in style. I highly recommend this place for great Italian food and excellent service. We will be back.

My wife and I were recently in New York City for a few days and we were walking around Mid-town looking for Italian restaurants. A gentleman was standing outside Joe G's with menus and, since it was Restaurant Week in the city, he also had a list of prix fixe dinner specials. We walked around some more, which gave us a chance to look at the ratings on Trip Advisor, and we were pleased with what we read so we went back. The restaurant is located in the basement of the Hotel DaVinci and what a surprise we had when we walked through the door. The bar and dining areas were beautifully furnished in a rathskellar type atmosphere, which was both cozy and inviting. We were shown to a nice booth for two and we reviewed the prix fixe menu items. I elected the red snapper special served with stuffed clams and zucchini. My wife elected to have the stuffed pork chop served with potatoes and mushrooms. As an appetizer, we both chose the grilled fresh asparagus with Parmesan cheese. For dessert we both chose the cannoli. The food was excellent and the service was courteous and efficient. We both love the food and the atmosphere of Joe G's and we will definitely return on our next visit to NYC. We highly recommend this fine restaurant.

We enjoyed a family dinner here. The staff was very accommodating with the younger members of the group. The server, Tony, was especially nice. Do not be put-off by the basement entrance, although accessing the place would be difficult for the physically challenged.

Needed a pizza after a long day in Manhattan.....and Joe G's is just down the street from our hotel......We had not gone there before, but writeups seemed promising.....Place was a bit busy, but we walked in and they took our order for a veggie pie and a caesar's salad to go.....Everyone was friendly .....prompt service and both were tasty as we finished back in our suite....We'd try again when in the city.

Our first night in NY and these Australian's were keen for Italian food. Fortunately we just happened to walk by Joe G's and aren't we glad we did. Tony our waiter was very accommodating and whilst meatballs was not on the menu he arranged some for us along with a lovely mixed platter appetiser. I can also recommend the stuffed pork chop. The mushroom sauce was amazing and our daughter loved her bolognese. Prices were good too do do yourself a favour and give Joe G's a try. Be sure to tell Tony that "maybe" you want to try to some good Italian food - he'll know exactly what you mean.

We stumbled across this little Italian restaurant due to its amazing lunchtime specials board when passing by. Not only was food amazing we unearthed the best coffee in New York! Patricia who has been our waitress for both our visits is friendly, helpful and very obliging. Thank you!

It felt just like taking maximum from tourists without offering same in return. Prices are inside much higher than on website, as others here mention, too. Food was not really tasty. Gorgonzola sauce was too extreme and salty. Mushroom sauce with gnocchi my wife did not like, too. Wine very expensive. And interior not special. 126 Dollars for two simple and not really tasty pasta and for one person an aubergine with thick cheddar and tomato sauce plus two small glasses ordinary wine. About 8 p.m. nearly empty, certainly not so popular as written on own website. A final highlight is also that they add tourists 20 Euro for "tip" on invoice. I would not go there again.

Unexpected and welcome find - on route to a nearby Thai restaurant for dinner when passing Joe G's and checked out the menu and spoke with one of the staff just outside. After reviewing menu and recommendation we liked the appeal of the lower street level location and took the punt. Our decision turned out to a a winner and we enjoyed a lovely Italian meal in a cosy restaurant that was not too busy. The food and drinks were more reasonably priced and taste was great. Service was also very good. Pizza offerings much more to Australian style. This was a big contrast to Angelo's Coal Fired we tried a few nights before - that was poor value for money. We would have liked to return to this restaurant if time allowed but alas not on this triip. Definitely recommend you give it a try if you like Italian fare.

Like many NYC restaurants Joe Gâs is small in size so I would highly recommend making a reservation. They happened to have room for a party of four and that was good for us. The food is great ad the service is even better. The meal prices are moderate and exactly what you would expected pay in this part of Manhattan. If you find yourself strolling 5th Avenue window shopping I would highly recommend Joe Gâs

As a business traveler, I honestly thought that the hype around pizza in NYC was all hype and pride. But I was the prideful one, wallowing in doubt and not allowing myself to dream. I didn't think much of this place when I walked up, but I'm glad I came here. I sat down in the narrow table for two and perused the menu. Without asking, my waiter casually dropped off bread, a garlic knot. I asked his recommendation and he said the four cheese (only he used the fancy Italian words for "four" and "cheese.") And then shyly said "... But I also like to add the pepperoni to mine." I instantly knew that this man was my spirit animal and just said "done!" Guys... this pizza is off the chain. I mean good. The crust is perfect so the way through. The cheeses are amazeballs. The pepperoni is pepperoni, which was nice. I loved it and it loved me back. This pizza did a slam dance in my mouth that I think rivaled a Broadway show, but then, I can't afford tickets to Hamilton.

The food is great and you canât beat the service. If you want great Italian this is your place. The waiters are authentic and itâs like going back in time Joe G welcomed us on the way in and offered us a slice of pizza on the way out. We will be back !!!

Ate at JoeG"s june 30th before going to a Broadway show. The food was ok, large servings and reasonable prices. The service was exceptional. We are from Rhode Island and are spoiled with the great Italian restaurants all over our state, so a little disappointed with the Quality of "authentic italian" food.

On our way to a Broadway show, this was just a short 10 minute walk away from our theater. We had pizza every day while in New York, but this was the best! My wife loved the salmon as it was cooked perfectly. Mashed potatoes were better than Grandmaâs at Thanksgiving. We loved the interior as it felt like cousin Vinny was gonna walk in to meet a guy about a thing at any moment. Well apppointed and not too noisy.

Every time we're in the city Joe G's is our stop to eat. We ate there first in August of 2004, when we got married and make sure it's at least an annual stop for us. The local feel and walking downstairs makes it special. We are now able to share it with our children. The atmosphere is reminiscent of an old speak easy with the main dining room in the back. The food is very well prepared and my 9 year old loves the pasta fagioli. We love their appetizers (mussels/clams with marinara) and entrees. The drinks are over sized and made to perfection. On the way out tonight my 4 year old loved high fiving the pizza maker statue out front. Great stop.

Simply the best the polo chicken sauce blew my mind away I eat out 3 times a week and by far this retuarant was one of the best I ever ate at. Besides for a few other places this is the best ! I'm

On a chilly night we headed out for an early dinner and tried a nearby restaurant that had a good rating on Trip Advisor. Unfortunately there was nothing kid friendly on their menu so we were trying to decide where else to try when we were invited in to Joe G's. A quick check of the menu and we headed down the stairs. The welcome was warm, the service was exemplary and the food was among the best Italian I had ever tasted. The waiter was patient and helpful with the children as they navigated the menu. Our meals came quickly and the portions were more than adequate. I recommend the seafood linguine! It was amazing :)

Stayed at the hotel above the place twice in a recent trip. the first tiem I dined at the place as it was close. the waiter was "too" nice. then they said that due to internet issues they cannot have Cards payment, only CASH.... the second time have the hotel dinner voucher, but when I got there they could not accept the voucher as the manager was not around. but got an unwated hug from a drunk waiter

We had a girls trip to NYC over the new year. What a wonderful hidden gem we found (actually my sister knew about it). The food was fantastic, the atmosphere wonderful and the service impeccable. Must visit when in the city.

Sat at the bar. Food was good. Note that the Da Vinci Hotel discount is only for the main menu not the bar menu.

We found this via yelp when we were looking for something close to our hotel. We'd arrived in the city kind of late and wanted a nice neighborhood restaurant close by. I wouldn't have noticed this place from walking by, so glad to have had the recommendation. The service was very good, food excellent, and prices surprisingly reasonable. The dining room is comfortable and inviting. Definitely worth the visit.

We actually looked at this place on Tripadvisor and did not feel too comfortable so booked another nearby. After not being able to get our table on time we walked back to the hotel looking for another place (Friday evening in Manhattan!) and decided to pop in and see how it looked. I was pretty grumpy having not been able to eat in our first choice but the friendliness of Joe G's soon turned me around. Wonderful service, very fresh and tasty food, lovely wine, no complaints at all. will go back.

I ate two meals here (as I was staying at the hotel above the restaurant) - the first was lunch; I had a bland vegetable soup and a very nice blue crab ravioli. The second was a ho-hum mushroom pizza with doughy crust. Service was excellent but the food was only average.

We at Joe G's Restaurant because it was close to our hotel. We were very hungry when we arrived and any/everything on the menu sounded good. I played it safe and ordered the ravioli which was simple but very good. My husband asked our server, Gerardo, what he recommended and he recommended the Pollo Rollantini which is a chicken dish that is stuffed with cheese and has a mushroom sauce. Very Good! Since it is our first trip to NYC I can't really tell you if it was pricey because we do not have anything to compare it to yet. Nevertheless, I would eat here again.

There are a lot of Italian restaurants in Manhattan serving decent Italian food. Joe Gâs isnât one of them. What sets them apart is how their food captures the true taste of Italy: pure and fresh. We dined there on a wet Tuesday afternoon expecting to get a serviceable lunch. Wow were we surprised. Joe Gâs is in the basement of the DaVinci Hotel and is a clean, spacious dining room and bar. It is welcoming, cozy and impeccably maintained. We started with glasses of wine from the affordable wine list and ordered a bruschetta to start. It arrived with fresh chopped tomatoes, fresh basil and shaved pecorino cheese on excellent Italian bread. The presentation showed care by the kitchen, even though it was just a Tuesday afternoon. We decided to try one of the personal pizzas, the Allâ Aglio, which featured tomato sauce, more fresh chopped tomatoes, garlic, pecorino cheese, fresh parmesan and basil. It took us back to our dining experiences in Italy because it was so fresh and flavorful. The crust was light but stood up well to the ingredients. While it is called âpersonalâ it is large enough to feed two people. Their menu is extensive and features traditional Italian dishes. The prices are very reasonable for the high quality of the food. They have covered dining at street level if you donât want to go downstairs. Weâll definitely eat here the next time we are in New York.

The room looks like a small version of a cabin class dining room on a 1920's or 30's ocean liner: lots of wood and comfortable, sturdy wooden chairs. The food is pretty comfortable too. Nothing too exciting, but all the traditional dishes are well prepared. Actually, I hadn't had my chicken dish before. It was chicken breast pieces with sausage slices, hot peppers in a brown sauce with a touch of vinegar. Really very good. My wife liked her spinach ravioli and my daughter was happy with her caesar salad and pasta with a spicy red sauce. The cannoli was excellent. The prices were very reasonable for New York. Service was efficient. Definitely would recommend.

The manager was rude... Don't recommend this place at all. The food was ok and the waitress are ok, but the lady manager was rude and bad person, she told us that we had to leave the table for a maximum of two hours and we still did not finish eating and it had only been an hour since we'd arrived at the restaurant, we don't like it at all we don't recommended and it's expensive

Excellent cuisine, excellent service, super friendly and kind owner, I would return a thousand times, excellent meat

Visited this great little place back in October with friends. Great food and great friendly service. Spotlessly clean.

A great place with very good food. I had the pizza and wasnât disappointed. The service is very nice and the cost/benefit is great.

great food ,service and atmosphere .The cost VS quality is out of this world. broadway is around the corner and they are a truly great value

We were originally going to Patsyâs but stumbled upon this by accident around the corner. The posted prix fixe menu brought us in with the varied selection of menu items. I had the salmon selection with he Portobello appetizer. My husband had the Zappa de peace with a arugula salad. We ended with the included dessert ( tiramisu ) .Every thing was delicious. We would definitely go back

Four of us had calamari (fantastic!), Fettuccine Alfredo, Veal w Gorgonzola, ravioli, pizza margarita. All fantastic though we agreed the pizza was the winner. Tiramisu also top notch. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Monday evening 6:00 meal. Place was empty when we arrived but filled up a bit by time we left. Make a reservation and enjoy!

My husband and I stay in the neighborhood when we visit NYC. We hadnât been to Joey Gâs in a few years and were in the mood for veal parmigiana. The portion was large but the veal Parm was tasteless, the tomato sauce bland, and the penne pasta that came with it was over cooked. Even the bread was uninspired. Any decent Italian restaurant should be able to do this dish. Needless to say we wonât be coming back.

A real Italian restaurant with real Italians. The carciofi (artichokes) were terrific, as were the pastas and the cannoli. And the wait staff very attentive. Had a wonderful time and plan to go back

Went here as couldn't get into the popular Patsy's nearby. So glad we did as this was a lovely restaurant with great Italian food and really nice service, plus, unusually for NY, it was reasonably priced. Our friends went to Patsy's another evening and didn't rate it much

The fact that this place gets good reviews is mind boggling! Canned mushrooms, flavorless tomato sauce and chewy doe sums up my experience. Absolutely disgusting pizzq. Clearly this place spends way more on paying for TripAdvisor ratings than quality ingredients.

Heard about this place on Food Network. All things noted were true. Greeted at the top of the stairs by Maitre D, who assisted me downstairs. Additional greetings from the moment we entered. Food was exceptional. Waiters were friendly and attentive. I believe the yelp review says "forgetaboutallothers". It's no joke. Best home cooked Italian meal outside Italy. Will return soon.

If you enjoy authentic Northern Italian food, then give Joe G's a try! Located in the basement of the Da Vinci Hotel on 56th street, we continue to be amazed not only by the food, but great service (ask for Frank)!

Nice bar, service personal and friendly. The pasta with clams and the burger were excellent. Great place just off the beaten tourist path. One of the most welcoming places we found in the city. A great stop for our last lunch in NY.

It was our first time in New York City and we made reservations at Joe G's for dinner based on recommendations from Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. We were first seated at a cramped table but were later moved to a booth. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent. My husband and I shared an appetizer and salad which was very tasty. For our main course, I had the Chicken Piccata and my husband had the Spaghetti Bolognese, which were very good. When the bill came, we were pleasantly surprised. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for good Italian food at a reasonable price and the service was top notch.

So as luck would have it we were turned away at Pasty's and found this gem just a few doors down the street. What fun. Our waiter Tony was the best. Personable, funny and attentive. Food was excellent. Service on point. Wish this place was in my home town.

My daughters partner wanted to go here as it was one of Frank Sinatras favourite restaurants. The reviews were also good. The service we got was excellent and quick and the food was fabulous and so much of it. They certainly donât do small. Not very big inside but appealing.

What a happy accident! We were hoping to get into Patsyâs Restaurant but they couldnât seat us for a couple of hours. So instead we went a couple of doors down to Joe Gâs. Donât let the basement location make you hesitate. Itâs a traditional NYC atmosphere when you enter. We received amazing service and the food.....OH THE FOOD!!! My daughter had the fettuccine Alfredo and I had eggplant parmigiana. They were both some of the best we ever ate!! Service and food both 10 stars!

We had reviewed this place a few years ago and consider it as good or better than the famous and crowded Patsy's next door. ( George Clooney too his mom to Patsy's last week.) we were able to walk in to Joe G's at 5:30 after failing to get a walkin at Patsy's. Our chianti was great along with the lasagna and spaghetti bolognese. Bruschetta and capers salad were classic. Enough left over for a snack the next day $120 including tax and tip (20% my second highest for the week in NYC) I forgot - the Carmel custard was excellent The Italian scenes and pictures enhance a peaceful ambiance.

I lived across the street for so many years but, never went down there because of the hotel on top was sort of seedy. The food is good and bartender at night was a nice girl. Drinks and food was ok.

This is a restaurant well worth going to. Away from the crowds, this restaurant offers great Italian food and the house wine was excellent!!!

I came here with a colleague while on a project in NYC. There is no shortage of good restaurants in NYC, especially near the Hell's Kitchen and Columbus Circle area. This place can easily be missed as other reviewers indicated. Once inside the basement restaurant, you will see that it is quite pleasing to the eye. The only thing that bothered me but just a bit was the damp like odor. It might have been because of the recent rain. I had a salmon and pasta dish while my colleague had cheese ravioli. We both agreed our dishes were excellent. The prices are very good considering the NYC location. I will be back to try other dishes.

The food is supposed to be Italian and we had a pizza, which wasn't great at all. On the table there was a bottle of water so we decided to have that, that unfortunately we ended up paying around 7$. If that had been on the menu we would have asked for tap water, as it is a rip off. The waitress didn't even give us the option. We had to ask for the list of desserts three times to three different waiters because no-one served us promptly and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. When we got the bill, as it was a bit expensive, for food that we didn't find to be particularly good, we decided not to give any tip. It took them more than 5 minutes to give us the change and before leaving another waiter, that never served us, came to our table and, in a very offensive patronizing way, he assumed that it was the first time in NYC for us and that we didn't know anything about the tips system. It is absolutely not our fist time in the USA and we have given tips when these were deserved. We purposely decided not to give it given the circumstances. He circled the receipt where it was written how much tip we should have given and said that it was a lesson for the future if we would go to other places. He ended up his speech by saying "just so you know, no-one here is working for free". We were really offended by that as he made us feel guilty and impolite, when he was the one being rude. It is the customer's choice whether to give tips or not and the waiter made us feel ignorant. As we are polite and didn't want to create a scene and humiliate the waiter in front of the other customers we didn't talk back but felt really offended. We have traveled to many places so you can't make assumptions on us or our knowledge of habits. We will not recommend this place to anyone and will not come back for sure. Really poor customer service and patronizing staff.

It was cold, it was snowing and we didn't want to walk far. We were prepared to be underwhelmed, but were pleasantly surprised. Pasta was excellent, wine selection good, salad and scallop appetizer also excellent. At a nice price point.

Food, service and prices are excellent. It's super convenient if you are staying upstairs but worth a visit even if you are not.

From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted and treated like their most important customers of the day. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant.

Joe G's sits under the Da Vinci Hotel. They have a happy hour from 4 - 8 in the bar. But don't try to eat in the restaurant and get happy hours prices on drinks. No can do even if only separated by a few feet. We ended up eating in the bar to take advantage of the happy hour pricing but would have been much more comfortable in the restaurant which was less noisy and less crowded. We all ordered what we understood to be person pizza's but when they came, were much bigger than expected and we were unable to finish them. Wasted a lot of food as we could have shared two or three and had plenty with little waste. Service was good with the exception of the advice on the size of the pizza's. Pizza's themselves were good

We live in Ann Arbor, Michigan and thanks to a charming young lady last summer who invited us down the stairs with the promise "you won't be disappointed" we discovered New York's best restaurant tucked away on 56th St. Every time we come to New York, Joe G's is the highlight of our visit. On our first visit and again last weekend, we were fortunate to have FRANK as our server. He is THE BEST. We had show tickets and FRANK made sure our dinner arrived promptly and that we wouldn't be late to our show. Plus, I finally got around to ordering the Black Angus Steak which was TREMENDOUS ! Finally, the bussing staff deserves top recognition for their attentive service from constant water glass refills, dish and crumb removal and efficiency. What a hard working staff! Make sure you tip them well! We can't wait for our next trip to New York City and dinner at Joe G's.

Back in Texas, we are telling everyone about Joe G's. We ate there twice during our visit to New York and loved it both times. The Veal Picatta, Mussels, Stuffed Pork Chops were all great. Cozy, friendly atmosphere and outstanding staff made it a memorable dining experience. Would highly recommend Joe G's.

I've eaten at Joe G's on my last 2 visits to New York (I took each of my sons as a 13th birthday present). My first visit was 2 years ago. I was looking for a good place to eat before our Broadway show, and the concierge at our hotel recommended Joe G's. She told me it's where the concierge staff likes to go eat when they want Italian food. I loved it so much that I brought my other son back to Joe G's in November 2016. The pasta is fresh and delicious, and the pizzas are also very good (and small enough for an individual to eat). It's a tiny little place, hidden down a staircase inside a hotel, but don't let that worry you. The people are friendly and the food is phenomenal. Perfect place for a pre-show dinner, as it's just a short walk to Broadway from there.

There were enough good points to Joe G's to warrant giving it 4 stars: we enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere, the only downside was the value. Yes, everything in NYC is expensive, but this felt like a stretch in terms of what one gets for the money.

Our waiter, âUncle Tonyâ (and we know because he introduced himself to a large table, but not us) was rude and barely spoke to us. He was quite friendly the large table, however. Never asked how our food was, never offered another drink or dessert, and didnât say anything (including thank you) when managing our bill. Food was good.

Just got back from a visit with friends. The staff was incredibly welcoming, made great suggestions, and the food was great! It was a terrific experience.

Great little find on our last night in the constant noise that is New York. Peace! No shouty people, no thumping music just a plain and simple restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine. Good service and reasonably priced.

Great little, cozy Italian restaurant, service is welcoming and very attentive. Pizza and pasta were delicious!!! We will definitely eat here again next time we are in New York City. We thought it was an excellent value.

We were staying at the Da Vinci hotel located directly above the restraunt. Simple menu but with plenty of choices. We had read about giant portion sizes but maybe coming from Southern California they seemed about normal. (Yikes) it was nice and quiet- a little Break from the hustle and bustle. The food was tasty, service was attentive and I would gladly revisit Joe G's.

looking for a new place to try. We looked at the specials and thought we would give it a try. Very glad we did. The steak was cooked to perfection and the special sea como was also excellent. We are adding this to one of must go to restaurants when we go into the city again.

Staff were friendly and service was quick. The menu had plenty of options and the food was great, there were 4 of us and we ordered different pasta dishes and pizzas and everyone enjoyed their food would definitely come back here again.

This was close to our hotel so we decided to try it. Fabulous. We were not disappointed. We both had pasta which was delicious, along with garlic bread to die for and Caesar salad. Definitely recommended.

We had an exhausting day walking manhattan and wanted a nice bite to eat - Joe G did not disappoint! What a great dinner! My husband and I shared a âJoe G Pizzaâ - really great meatballs on it - and a Caesar salad. Honestly one of the better Caesar salads Iâve had. Montepolciano wine was great, too. Dining room is clean, attractive, and comfortable for dining. Bar looked inviting, too. Looking forward to returning when not so exhausted to have a full meal! Their pasta meals looked great.

Great casual eating place. The best and friendliest staff in al nNew York. they really make you feel like family!!! Kids friendly and family oriented. I donât have enough words to express how much I loved visiting this place.

If you are traveling with kids this restaurant is perfect. Not too flashy (you don't have to look like you just came off a runway)đ. You get the New York feel of going down steps to the restaurant. It is a bit small but the atmosphere is good. The prices were reasonable and plate portions were large. I regret not ordering the prosciutto appetizer. I saw it delivered to someone else's table and it looked rather appealing. My daughter ordered a cannoli for dessert and said it was one of the best she had ever had.

We Stumbled by chance on this Lovely place one hot lunchtime while walking , friendly and welcoming staff. Food was very good and service amazing. So good we called by for dinner one evening and afternoon cocktails before leaving New York .

We stopped in late on Sunday evening after a sports competition with teens still in uniforms and sweats, so were substantially under-dressed. But despite this, the host couldn't have been more gracious. It's "old school" Italian, so your best bet is the pasta dishes. Girls had fettuccine alfredo and spaghetti with meatballs, both of which were superb, as was the caesar salad. The veal sorrentino I had was well-prepared, but a little dated. The real show-stoppers were the desserts -- both the tiramisu and cannolis were house-made and superb. Since we were going to share 3 desserts among 6 people, the host very kindly split them and served them on a platter. (He also split our bill three ways -- after we forgot to ask for this ahead of time.) Finally, during our meal, we observed him dealing in a most polite and constructive manner with an extremely unreasonable customer. So even jerks get red-carpet treatment at JoeG's!

It's an Italian restaurant, so you think you MUST order Italian...wrong...the entire menu is wonderful. The House red was so good that we had a hard time believing that it was the HOUSE red. The Seafood Platter was prepared exquisitely as was the Stuffed Pork Chop. We were going to share our entrees and the waiter was kind enough to actually split the entrees for us right at our table. Both of the meals could not have been prepared any better. To finish, we had the Cannoli and the Tartufo...again, melt in your mouth wonderful. Joe G's is not pretentious...it just serves fantastic food.

A great find, A lower level restaurant, very nice dĂŠcor, great food and moderate prices. A nice Veal dish under $25.00 The wine list is a bit lite, but again moderate in price

Located below street level this Italian restaurant and bar was a great find. I found it on the urbaspoon app because I was in the mood for some Italian for take away. I was pleasantly surprised as the food tasted great and was still hot when I got it back to my hotel. Therrewas also a bar where I had a drink while I waited for my food. The atmosphere was homely and the staff were incredibly friendly. A highly recommended place to eat with cosy atmosphere

My daughter really wanted pizza, so we stopped here for dinner. We all ended up having pizzas- they were bigger than expected so in retrospect we probably should have shared. Of the 4 pizzas, we had almost a whole pizza left at the end. We enjoyed the food, and the service was good.

Everyone must visit Joe G's! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like family. Our waiter, Tony, was absolutely amazing. He made the entire dining experience fun. Tony offered suggestions throughout the night and was spot on every time. While in NYC, don't pass this one by!

I'm sorry for the unpleasant discussion about tips, my father doesn't know how to behave well. Thanks for the kind and pleasant service.

We were looking for Italian for a late lunch. This place is incredible! Awesome food and even better service. Melissa was a delight and Joe was even there. Would definitely recommend this place. As someone else said...walk down the stairs, you will not be disappointed!

Yummy Italian. Great service. Quiet, old place under the DaVinci hotel. Walking distance from the Manhattan Club. Would do again.

Non descript entrance to this below street level bar and restaurant. But take the walk and go down. The bar won't disappoint but the restaurant will delight. We received the best of service and were delivered some amazing food. It was fresh, full of flavour and beautifully presented. This was a great experience. Highly recommended.

Made a reservation of the basis of other trip advisor users reviews and were very pleased that we had. We ordered pizzas and pasta between us, and food was fabulous. Pizzas as fresh as they come, and very tasty, pasta carbonara was superb. We tried the cannoli, tiramisu, chocolate cake and the affogato for dessert and all were superb. Italian bread, plus two excellent courses, drinks all round and $150 including service. Special shout out for Tony our waiter, who could not have been more helpful, especially in recommending my daughter away from a starter if she was having pizza, and defending my affogato from the attention of my wife!! Great evening that weâll remember for a long time.

Honest Italian cuisine at reasonable prices. Atmosphere worthy of Little Italy. Quick service allows you leisurely dining before your Carnegie Hall performance. Will definitely be back.

Eating at Joe G's was like eating at a family member's house. Our head waiter was like your Italian uncle; a very pleasant gentleman. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. The quality of the food was outstanding! From appetizer to dessert, it was a wonderful experience!

We were hungry, Joe G's was convenient so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! The restaurant was clean, the staff were friendly and attentive, the food was good and came to the table quickly and hot (a plus for me). This was our first visit to NYC, but if we are back in the area, we will certainly eat here again.

GO FOR IT!!! too good! I really loved my experience. the service was impeccable, fast, good server. In short, don't trust the outside.

We had an excellent waiter with a wonderful happy attitude. He was super accommodating and full of spirit. The owner was also there and greeted us. The food was so delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Overall a great experience. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

My family and I came her on Valentine's Day for an early dinner. We weren't sure what to expect and at first we thought the waiter was a bit brusque but it was just the way they are. Both the food and the service were excellent. We would definitely go back for some wonderful calamari! The kids really enjoyed their pizza and we enjoyed our entrees. Definitely check out the specials!

My wife and I went for dinner and had an excellent meal. The wait staff was very friendly and our waiter joked with us about our selection of wine for dinner. The decor is very nice, the service was quick and all the staff treated us like they were happy to have us dine in the restaurant. If you are near Joe Gâs, I highly recommend you go for a meal. This is our first time eating there, we read reviews before we went and we were not disappointed. We each ordered the chicken parm, and it was very good.

I found Joe Gâs by doing a quick search for pizza restaurants near our hotel. We wanted a sit down/dine in meal not a quick slice to go. What we got was amazing and surprisingly, none of us got pizza. You enter via steps going down into the restaurant and enter the world of Joe Gâs. We started our meal with some adult beverages: a beer and two glasses of montepulciano. A shared plate of bruschetta and then warm scali bread was brought to our table. The menu is reduced right now due to COVID but there is still plenty of options. I was hoping for the burrata appetizer once I saw it on the website menu; itâs not on the reduced menu but our server, Tony, worked his magic and we were able to enjoy that too. One person ordered the eggplant rollatini and meatballs as her meal; one ordered a Caesar salad and the spaghetti carbonara for her meal and Tony suggested sorrentina made with chicken instead of the veal (Iâm not a fan of veal) for me - I chose spaghetti as my side instead of vegetables. The chicken and spaghetti both had a lovely light brown sauce. All three of us loved our meals and enjoyed the samples we had of each otherâs meals. For dessert we shared a plate of tiramisu and two of us has cappuccinos. And to top off our meals Tony brought us aperitifâs of Amaretto which were much appreciated. If you are in midtown Manhattan or anywhere in NYC, I highly recommend you take a chance on this restaurant. Tony is the only server right now and he has a buser who works with him, I did not get his name - both are lovely and are very engaging. If I had more time in NYC for this trip I would definitely go back and enjoy another meal.

Straight out of a movie set for an NYC Italian restaurant: waiters were wearing vests and ties, and any moment now you half expect Lucky Luciano to stroll out of the back with a bag of food to go. One just knows skulduggery has taken place here, just behind one of the doors. Solid Italian-American fair, with wine and cocktails prices for the neighborhood, right around Carnegie Hall, which is where we went after dinner. This is the kind of place people should go to when in NYC. It's soaked in the feeling and history of the city.

Amazing staff, unbelievable food! We stumbled upon this place while touring around, it was a wonderful experience. The lobster ravioli was to die for!!!

small, cozy restaurant down of the street. My girlfriend said the linguini was some of the best she has had. My chicken parm was OK, a bit tough on one side. The service was fair, not the most friendly in the world. Prices were reasonable for the location.

This is a wonderful place to go to for lunch and for after work with friends and co workers. I do not recommend it for a romantic encounter. The food is excellent, I recommend the Lobster Ravioli with Gorgonzola Sauce and the Salmon DaVinci. the service as well (Frank) is excellent. The ambience however falls short. More effort should be taken to enhance the atmosphere, instead, the management does not let it live up to its potential as an intimate dining experience which is a shame. The rating would be much higher if it was not for this single fact. The prices were good, not complaint on this score. Also the white wine list needs bolstering.

After eating in several places, we realized noise levels are crazy so we were happy to find a quieter place. And then a double delight to find the food was good!

The pizza was superb! This is a family run business and they take their recipes seriously! The atmosphere was so nice and friendly waitstaff--all made a wonderful experience! The prices were very reasonable and we would definitely go back and try some other special dishes! Also, a great location!

Stopped in for an early dinner. Warm and homey ambience. Service was very friendly and timely. Food was excellent. We will be back on our next visit.

Stopped in for dinner on the way to Carnegie Hall. Sat at the bar, drinks and dinner were excellent!

French tourists, staying at Da Vinci Hotel, just above the restaurant, we were not on the way to come downstairs. We've been caught from the street and kindly proposed to have a look on the menu. Such warmly welcome... we gave it a try and we were right to. Nothing extraordinary, but a good place to eat good pizzas at a fare price (around $15 per person). And a very kind team making you feel at home.

This is a nice little restaurant in the lower level of the Da Vinci Hotel. The bar area is small and you can mingle closely with other guest. The menu was full of typical Italian fare and they have a Theater Menu was great that we ordered from as we were going to the theater that evening. The architecture is a bit dated but still in good shape and fits the building overall.

We were planning to go to Carnegie Deli, but weren't waiting an hour - so walking down the street, the owner (?) was outside having a cigarette and talked us into trying them out. "It you don't like it, it's free! If you like it, you pay twice!" :) We had a party of 10 and they graciously seated us and let us know another party was coming in about an hour - but no rush and to take as long as we needed. With 5 kids, we knew we'd be out of there soon so no worries. Complimentary bruschetta was delicious - several of us ordered the pizza and there was really none left. The pasta dishes were good - ravioli, carbonara, bolognese - overall a pretty good Italian place with great service and reasonable prices. Wasn't what we had planned, but we left full and happy.

The food is great i stayed in the Hotel and dined downstairs 3 times during my stay and Im not one to repeat restaurants but this was worth it, Had dinner at the bar one time during happy hour, the crowd was a lot of fun.

Spent the night in the city because we were going to a Good Morning America summer concert to see Adam Lambert perform in Central Park. What an amazing dinner we had at Joe G's. We ordered fried calamari and mozzarella sticks appetizer. They were both prepared to perfection and the sauce was very flavorful. For dinner my daughter and I ordered Pollo Alla Sorrentina which was layers of chicken, eggplant, prosciutto and mozzarella served with seasoned vegetables. We both enjoyed this dish. My daughters friend ordered Pollo Alla Parmigiana. which is served with choice of pasta or vegetables. The chicken was also tender and the pasta was firm. My best friend ordered Seafood pasta which included a generous portion of clams, shrimp, muscles, and calamari with a light pink cream garlic sauce served over pasta. She said each she really enjoyed the flavor of the pasta sauce. The meal was served with fresh bread & butter. I will definitely eat there again.

Advertise happy hour ($5 beer) but then say that's only at the bar - no other place pulled this one. Then mandatory 20% gratuity. Give this one a miss

Great food and great service, the plea very small which can be bad if you came with many friends, but for 2-3 people it's ok, the soup was very good!

We came across this restuarant whilst exploring and thought it would be nice to have an Italian. We were seated outside and the table and area looked clean. The waiter suggested that we shouldnt have garlic bread ,as I was having pizza and wouldnt be able to eat it all. We ordered the garlic mushrooms instead ,they were ok.My pizza was tasty, my husband had the chicken again ok. The fact that the service charge is automatically included annoys me, it actually feels like a dare for you to challenge it. In a city full of restaurants ,this one has so much potential to be a good one but not in its current form. It turned out to be our most expensive meal in the 5 days we were in NYC.

Really lovely meal here for our anniversary. Good home cooked italian food. We had prawns, calamari and pizzas, washed down b y an excellent bottle of red. Reasonably prices and the service was excellent too - would recommend!

Highly recommend Joe Gâs Restaurant. Nice atmosphere and absolute VIP service the whole time. Delicious meal at reasonable prices!!

We were in the city for 3 nights and ate here twice! We sat at the bar both times and had great conversations with the bartender. The food was wonderful and a reasonable price.

We just happened to pop into this downstairs restaurant/bar for a quick drink and ended up staying all night! The staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. Don't miss this place! It's a hidden gem.

In midtown, or precisely the theater distric,t the accoutrements of normalcy have long been abandoned. This is an adult Disney World strewn with human and other traffic sandwiched in between offices, residents, parking lots and restaurants. You want quiet don't come. . Amidst the pre theater tumult sit Joe G's. Its got a consistent old school kitchen that knows how to delivery timely meals to those anxiously watching their phones and watches before showtime. The food is consistently good, and as the headline attests, old school. Baked clams, Veal Parm, Pastas, solid seafood abound as does a warm embrace and tables none too cramped in a theater district that is anything but. One descends to enter Joe G, but in effect, ascends to escape the frenetic hustle of the theater district where solid food at reasonable prices, for this neighborhood, are as rare as a Broadway smash.

Joe G's is a small place in midtown Manhattan, just a couple blocks south of Central Park. It's a bit of a basement level hideaway. We were there on a Friday night around 9:30 and it was nearly empty, so we enjoyed having the place to ourselves. I loved the ambience of the restaurant. The service was gracious and attentive. We had sea bass and a carbonara pasta dish. The food was okay, nothing really special, but still a very enjoyable experience. I think if I went back I would try the pizza, which looked really good.

Firstly, the bar and barmaid were excellent. Very friendly and priced well. Ahh, the restaurant. I ordered four cheese pizza, my wife, a margarita with procuto. We shared a salad to start. Salad was nice, not too much. My wife's pizza was also good, quite big but not massive. She enjoyed it. My four cheese pizza was awful. No tomato sauce, something I'd not noticed from the menu. It was smeared with chilled white soft cheese aka Philadelphia. The base was uncooked in the middle. Very poor. I pointed this out to the waiter, who wasn't interested. Beers went from $5 to $8 from the bar to restaurant (3 metres away) and the bottle of water was $6.95 which was heavily pushed. Service was fine but they didn't expect to see us again and we reciprocated this in a 10% only tip, which didn't impress. I would avoid.

Had the pizza pepperoni and thought it was quite good. It's quite a small place in the basement but good for a stop before going to a show. Service was ok and the prices were what you expect near broadway

We came upon Joe g's on our way to Basso 56 close by. We fancied a pre dinner aperitif and to be honest we didn't want to leave. The reason being our charming New York hostess Melissa. What a star she is. She could talk for America but jeez she entertained us. Needless to say we returned after our meal and the night flew by. The drinks kept coming and we never tired listening to her. It was the one rather blurry night of our trip but well worth the hangover. Joe G you have a gem!

We went here because it was in our hotel and we were tired after a long day of sightseeing. Food was good but not great. Generous helpings. Friendly service. Nice atmosphere. Worth stopping in if youâre nearby.

Good food, great bread. Service was fantastic... felt well taken care of. You'll see the bottle of water isn't on the cheap side, but you can ask for tap water with ice if you so choose. Just be aware, so you're not surprised/have complaints later. As for the food, the stuffed chicken I had was plenty tasty. I'd say I would visit again, but there are so many places in NYC... just know you won't be disapointed!

Nice service and a quiet competent place. The food is basic and nothing special. Had a pizza. Good, but not great. Chicken cacciatore was basically a thin piece of white meat chicken with peppers and mushrooms. No garlic. No zing. The two fishes ordered were both ok, but plain. The melon and procuitto was big and delicious. The house wine was barely drinkable.

We had 8:00 reservations at Patsy's, but had an hour to kill....so we ventured into Joe G's, right next door and never left. The bartender was excellent and the hostess could not have been nicer. When 8:00 rolled around we cancelled our reservations at Patsy's and stayed at Joe G's for a wonderful dinner.

We were able to walk into this highly rated Sicilian Italian restaurant in NYC on a Saturday evening and be seated. Everything was wonderful - our server, the pizza and pasta and Tiramisu and wine. Because you enter by going down a few steps under a boutique hotel, the restaurant is not as obvious as others from the street. Definitely a great value and a neighborhood gem. We will be back!

We stayed in the Davinci Hotel, which shares the building with Joe Gâs, so naturally, we had to give it a try. A little âpricey,â but what isnât in Manhattan? Food was good, service was excellent and they know their stuff.

The pepperoni pizza was crispy with a thin crust. We ordered salad and it was perfect with a light lemon dressing. The only disappointing part was the house red wine which tasted watered down. The sign outside said there was a happy hour wine for $5 but we were charged $8. Overall , it was very good food, but be sure to ask the price of the drinks!

We came here 2 years ago and the food was delicious . So delicious in fact that we had to visit again when we came back to NYC. When we returned this year it was just as we remembered it . Warm, inviting and DELICIOUS food! We had the calamari, fried. With a side salad, grilled snapper and angel hair pomodoro .. I mean seriously , DONT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! Just go here and see for yourself ! Xx

Joe G's Restaurant Italiano was close to the Hotel we were staying at and the reviews were excellent so we figured we'd give it a try. This is an excellent restaurant. It's cozy, comfortable and the service was friendly and attentive. The food was spot on. we had a Joe G's Pizza which was excellent as well as a chicken parm and shrimp scampi. All were perfect. The tiramisu was sinful and everyone was more than satisfied.

The menu had many options....and our party sampled several of the choices. All were WONDERFUL. Tasty, nicely presented and ample portions. The wait staff were exceptionally attentive and personable. I'd definitely return.

My husband found this restaurant whilst looking around the area on an app and we're so glad he did! It was a short walk from our hotel which was nice and the restaurant was small and cosy, not to hectic which is nice to find in NYC. The pizzas were amazing, so tasty and very traditional. The service was friendly and fast and it was prefect after a long day exploring. And on top of that the prices were very reasonable

My wife and I were enjoying a few days in Manhattan. Shows, restaurants, the Met etc. We stopped in to grab a drink before dinner, having had some really great meals so far on the trip (including Babbo, and Keste). The bartender was friendly, funny, and pleasant. We had a couple of Stellas that were far less expensive than the surrounding establishments. Walking to the restroom, I passed a family speaking Italian whose teenaged son was power feeding some great looking linguine. We decided to stay there for dinner, and were we ever glad we did. My wife had the prix fixe dinner at a very low $25. It had a salad with blacked prawns, outstanding house made lobster ravioli (generous portion too!), and maybe the best tiramisu I've ever had. I had the grilled calamari, which is actually a great salad of field greens with a nice lemon vinaigrette and lots of grilled calamari, followed by an outstanding scallopini. We also had a fine California cab with our dinner. The tab was half what many other restaurants would have charged...for great cuisine...in Manhattan...! Service was cheerful, attentive (without hovering), and spot-on. After we were done, the manager brought us limoncello. That was common when I stayed in Sorrento Italy, but seriously, in New York? This is the first review I've ever posted...that's how impressed I was. Terrific experience !

Stopped at Joe G's for dinner with my teen aged daughter. The place is quaint and has a distinct old-school posh Italian restaurant taste to it. While there were no real low-lights or high-lights to the (fairly expensive) meal, the place needs a refresh, physically, as well as staff and cuisine-wise. The posh Italian eatery look is ok but needs a good clean and improved lighting. Our waiter (older gentleman) was not terribly interested and reeked of alcohol (but he was nice and chatty to the elderly Mob? couple at the other table). The food, while potentially nice, was extremely salty. Globally, the experience was just ok but not great at the price.

The food is amazing and they have an evening dinner special that is a great value. We had beautiful goat cheese salad, snapper with scallops and baked cheesecake for dessert. $27 per person and huge servings. Plus Happy Hour runs 4 to 8pm with house wine and draft beers at $5. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We had two pizzas at this Quaint below ground level restaurant. The pizza was delicious with a memorable crust. The service was very good. This is definitely a restaurant worth seeking out.

We were looking for Italian food near the midtown hilton and found this charming restaurant. You step downstairs from the street into a homey friendly restaurant. We were immediately engaged with the waiter and other patrons. Treated like friends. Ordered the price fixe menu and both our meals, red snapper and stuffed pork chop, were delicious and large portions. The appetizer of scallops wrapped in bacon were scrumptious. The topper was the tiramisu with vanilla ice cream . I highly recommend you visit this family run restaurant and try the delicious food.

If the neon "bar" sign is off putting, just be assured you are in store for some good Italian food! We stopped in after a theatre matinee on our way back to the hotel and we received excellent service, even ordering off the menu. They have well priced specials, hot bread with oil, a nice wine list, and tons of choices.

We just came here for dinner one night and from the bread to the dessert, our food couldn't of been any better! The margarita pizza was absolutely unbelievable and the chocolate moose cake was unbelievable as well! Everyone at this restaurant had a smile on their face and out of every Italian restaurant that I've been to NYC, this totally is my favorite! I will without a doubt come here again. My favorite part of the restaurant is that it's completely underground!

Excellent small neck clams casino, stuffed grilled pork chop, & creme caramel! All four of us enjoyed our meals with a bottle of smooth italian masso (red) wine. Attentive service. Great experience! Can't wait to return.

We stopped in our 1st night for a drink before dinner. Melissa was tendering bar and made everyone feel welcome. We went in after dinner with friends for a nightcap then the remaining 2 nights there. It was so much fun, great service. We never had dinner there but did have the ricotta cheesecake which was excellent. We will definitely stop in for a drink again on our return.

Warm and welcoming, cozy place offering excellent Italian cuisine. Baked clams were delicious along with eggplant rollatini which were not overpowered by tomato sauce. Gnocchi melt in your mouth and mushroom sauce is delicious. Cocktails like French martini are well done. Seating arrangement is cozy and welcoming. All staff is very friendly. At the end of dinner, they offered us free lemoncello. What a lovely spot for a meeting , a date or a causal meal.

My wife and I dined at Joe Gâs for the second time on a Thursday evening prior to attending a Broadway show. We almost immediately decided on the Prix Fixe menu for $29.95 which included an appetizer, main course and dessert. Our bottle of Pinot Grigio was very nice indeed for $32.00. First you should know that the prices here are very moderate considering the prime location in the theater district. Our appetizer was scallops wrapped in Prosciutto on a delicious sauce which went down well with the warm crusty bread. My main course was a large tender pork chop stuffed with mozzarella and served on a mushroom wine sauce with roasted potatoes. My wife had the Red Snapper Piccata served on a white sauce with a vegetable medley. We both chose tiramisu for dessert which is homemade and outstanding. We had so much fun with the head waiter who referred to himself as Uncle Tony. Soon we were engaged in friendly conversation with 3 other adjacent tables due to the warm atmosphere of the room and Uncle Tonyâs storytelling. This restaurant will always be our first choice when we come in for a show from the Hudson Valley.

From appetizers, to wine, to main course, dessert, and espresso, everything was excellent. The waiter Tony was very nice. Everything just provided us with a very nice evening, good food, nice environment, and good service.
Exquisite
Really nice food and very welcoming and food waste very tasteful and the steak is a must. Had a lovely stay for the meal đđ
