Irish Bar

By Natalie C |

Great little Irish bar near the Garden. Lots of TVs to watch sports, friendly bartenders, good beer.

Disappointed

By tirangapete |

$20 cover charge for a game that was obviously being ripped off the internet , terrible picture and terrible steaming kept breaking up which we had tried somewhere else

Had lunch here today. Coffee

By Lmmayo |

Had lunch here today. Coffee rubbed burger and wings were delicious. Jameson and ginger was heavy on ginger.

Ok for a drink

By Lovetoroadtrip82 |

I happened upon this place while I was killing some time before a concert. The drinks were good but the service was super slow even though the place was empty. I sat at the bar and my drink was empty for an excruciatingly long time before I could get anyone's attention to grab my tab. I didn't get any food but it looked ok. I won't be back, but it definitely is a convenient stopping point for meeting people near Penn Station or Madison square garden

Shrimp fettucine at an Irish bar?

By Trainman95630 |

That's what my wife ordered and she said it was excellent. I ordered a veal steak with mashed potatoes. It was excellent also. Staff was friendly, it looked like a fun bar to hang out at , but we were so tired that after eating we went back across the street to our hotel. The breakfast menu looked very good and reasonably priced, although we ate breakfast at our hotel.

Perfect pit stop

By SherpaP |

Dropped in this friendly bar for lunch on the last day of our trip to NYC and after what felt like we'd walked every street and visited every store in Manhattan. An unassuming entrance led into a calm and friendly bar and we were quickly seated. A decent range of craft ales on tap and bottle were the perfect accompaniment to the carbfest we decided to indulge in as a final blowout before a late flight home. The burger from the specials was one of the best I've ever had with lovely combos of blue cheese and chilli sauce. A little oasis in the area if you're are out touring and want to avoid the usual chain fodder. I'd guess much more lively on an evening and we'd have this place on our list to return to when back in NYC in the future.

Nice place for a drink

By Ryan S |

We only stopped in for drinks but the food looked and smelled good as well. Nice atmosphere with lots of TV's

Avoid the ‘Chicken Pot Pie’ !!!

By Laura T |

Myself and my partner visited here yesterday evening, quite hungry after a long day sight seeing and I decided to purchase the Chicken Pot Pie after reading the menu - BIG mistake. It came and all I can describe it as is a small bowl with watery mess. No gravy in sight, half a small chicken breast at most - chopped into squares, hardly any potato or vegetables with a small square of puff pasty on top that you could pick up to eat. It came with no sides, so basically the dish was it!!! and I had the pleasure of paying $15.95 PLUS tax for this so called ‘meal’. Funnily enough, I am sure it states you get 10% off your next meal if you leave a review... kindly keep your discount, we won’t be returning!

Great for drinks, not so great for food!

By Aimee-Viktoria |

We visited in May for dinner and drinks as it was local to our location. Food was average, chicken curry and sausage and mash. Great service for drinks when sitting at the bar.

Great home cooked food

By Tina O |

I was looking for some home cooked food after a lot of Fast food and pancakes! I was not disappointed! A very varied menu competitively priced and served by efficient and friendly staff

Good meal

By Gearoid O |

Great to have a nice Irish pub close to our hotel. Had a nice meal here great food but service was a small bit fast, would rather a bit more of a break between meals. One small complaint waiter took one dish away when finished and others were still eating should have waited till we were all finished.

Convenient Pub

By ukulelecat2 |

We went to purchase tickets at the Nederlander Theater and decided to have lunch nearby. The choice was both convenient and positive. The arugala and melon salad was especially excellent. Fries were very tasty - the wild mushroom flat bread was good but could have been hotter and needed some additional herbs. Fish sandwich was pretty typical.

Skip This Pub For Rugby

By jojo2121 |

This pub charges a $20 cover-charge to watch rugby. When you enter, the hostess asks “are you here for the rugby”? and if you answer yes she asks for the cover charge. If you say “no” she doesn’t ask for the charge. We should have said “no” because all the people that said “no” watched the rugby with no cover charge. They don’t put on the pre-game and during half-time the tv screen goes blank. When the game went on after half time they were playing music instead of having the sound for the game. We had to ask for the game sound to be turned on. The waitress was cranky, the breakfast was not so good, the beer was okay. A real sour experience! Never going back again.

Friendly and Fun Staff and Atmosphere

By David P |

Love the place. Vibrant and energetic place to be. Close to our hotel. Convieniently located in midtown near subways. Not really a touristy sort of place but they welcomed us none the less LOL.....The bar and servers are really knowledgeable with all things Irish. (Try the Redbreast 12 Irish Whisky; not an expert on Irish whisky and this was recommended. Awesome). Music selection perfect. Food tasty and presentation is good. simply a place all cities should have. I can’t wait to get back.

We came one night and returned the following two nights

By Jim C |

I have to say, that whenever I have been to New York in the past, I have always visited different places, because the City is a treasure of culinary delights. We called into this Irish Bar and I am feeling guilty that I didn't ask the name of the Irish girl from Galway who served us, because she was great. The food was fabulous, they served Newcastle Brown Ale on draught and you could watch the sport on the TV... The waitress just seemed to have this instinct to approach our table to confirm our next round of drinks with a timing second to none. New York is so good the named it twice, John Sullivans is so good we visited it three times!

Irish Food

By Easterncoast10 |

We tried Sullivan's Bar and Grill for the first time. The people are very friendly and polite. The food was great and the employees were had working and very professional. The food was reasonably prices and the service was very fast. This is now our new Irish Bar and Grill

Great Bar and Restaurant

By Marianne M |

We stopped in here for a drink one night and were given some info where to watch the Liverpool game. Really reasonable do we came back for a quick lunch on the day we were leaving good food honest prices friendly service definitely recommend

Off the beaten track

By Mark D |

If you are looking for a quick drink or a bite to eat before an event at MSG try this spot out. Hard to find these days with scaffolding and construction blocking the entrance which if just off the avenue. Fish and chips...awesome. As with all the eateries in the area...pricy for what you are getting.

Fun and comfy Irish Spot a bit off path.

By CoachK2525 |

Nice place with solid friendly staff and across-board quality menu and drinks. Definitely would come back and will come back if visiting area again!!

Great Place

By Happy |

Fab place for food, staff very friendly and helpful. Good menu and reasonable prices. Enjoyed two visits here during our stay.

Ok but nothing special

By seashll59 |

Nice and place with ok food. Fish and chips were good but nothing special. Cold beer at a reasonable price. Once they realized we were not there to “drink” our level of service changed. Still polite but more attentive to the bar patrons. Waited some time to pay our check. Went here by mistake. Passed up the pub we intended to go to.

Our first stop!

By palomino62 |

This has become our meeting place when going to the city from LI. We always find the service friendly. Our last couple of trips we also had appetizers. We've enjoyed goat cheese fritters, pork dumplings and wings. We've never had more than appetizers but find the drinks and food very satisfying.

Skip the food

By Nancy L |

Skip the food. The fish and chips was supper greasy and that is all you tasted. Did not finish. The bar is nice. Friendly service. Full bar selection.

I love this place

By Marthese86 |

Fantastic atmosphere, really nice staff, fabulous food and a good pint of Guinness in NYC!! Drinks are very reasonable in price and the cocktails are lovely. Buffalo wings are really good and all the food was very well presented too. Definitely worth the visit and it's literally across the road from Macy's too.

Great Irish Bar

By RazzleDazzle82 |

Brilliant atmosphere, good music, great service, delicious food, good Irish breakfast and a good pint of guinness, what more can I say. Perfect place to chill while in NYC away from the hustle and bustle.

Walked in by luck- will return on purpose!

By TDNY |

Picked here for dinner because the Trip Advisor app showed that it was just a block from Macy's. So glad we ended up here! Our service wasn't great (I don't think our server had many tables and was doing other tasks) but the food was served quickly and was good. The pasta with lobster sauce was excellent.

Good food and location

By Scott H |

I met a friend here recently as she is from NYC and had been here before and it was close to my motel. The bar was very busy as it was before a basketball game at the Garden but it quieted down after that crowd left. Lots of TVs to watch sports. The menu here has lots of options. I choose mozzarella sticks for the appetizer and fish and chips. All were very good and not too pricey. They do have a good selection of beer which isn't too expensive. The staff was very helpful. Great place to go before or after a game or as your first stop from Penn Station or after a hard day shopping at Macy's.

Good Local Sports Bar

By BerlinG-ParisF |

We were looking for something like this for a Saturday lunch and chose John Sullivan's from the idine program. I called to make a reservation and we arrived just a few minutes early. There were many rugby fans there with very loud TV's. We were first seated in the very back of the lower level but taken upstairs less than 30 seconds later. It was still loud, but the rugby watching crowd was not as close. Irish gentleman Benny was our server. He first claimed to be from Japan, but I knew better. We started with water. I ordered the Beef Reuben sandwich (they spell it Rueben for some reason). It was good and came with lots of fries. My other half had Shepherd's Pie and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. When Benny brought more water in a large bottle like is done often in Paris, I made a comment about Paris and he started to speak broken French. To be honest, it was easier to understand his French than his heavy Irish accent. He could slow down and talk English that was easier to understand, but he was part of the entertainment that day! Food was good for bar food, and once the rugby game went to halftime, it was tolerable noisewise. As said, Benny was great. We would return here but not with so many loud people and TVs. Since we weren't there for rugby, we didn't have to pay the $20 cover charge. (not sure what that involved) In conclusion, friendly place with good food and people.

Service and Quality

By Margaret B |

Visiting New York from Edinburgh, my wife and I came across this bar - one of the highlights of our trip. My wife loved the Irish Coffee and I really enjoyed the red wine. Lisa from Cork was a warm, friendly and helpful mine host. We'll be back.

Lively friendly bar with a wide range of barsnacks

By RX61 |

I’d just flown in from London and was looking for a beer and a light snack. This place was a good choice for me inasmuch as they had Sam Adams on tap. However there was only one other ale, but plenty of lagers. I just had a lobster bisque and roll (large) sitting at the bar downstairs. I have had more flavoursome lobster bisques, but it was OK. There were plenty of other interesting dishes on the menu, some of which were pretty large. The guy behind the bar worked miracles keeping everyone topped up the other side of the long bar. It was clearly a popular place to go after work to relax with a drink and a bite to eat. I was quite lucky to get a place at the bar on a Wednesday evening. Lots of happy people testify to this bar’s success.

Great place to be

By Trevor W |

I arrived in New York for an event in gardens, got told about this place, all I can say is the staff, service, food, atmosphere, quality of beer, is top notch, got looked after by Eoghan, Edna, Anita , Niamh and a few more I didn't get a chance to ask their names, all made me feel very welcome and appreciated. I come from the hospitality industry and have been know as hard to please but I can not fault this place at all. Will be back as soon as I'm back in the big apple, keep up the good work

Great Irish bar

By roavingrover |

On our travels we always seem to end up in an Irish bar or two. This is one of the better ones in NYC. Very friendly staff, busy but not crowded (mostly locals), and some great food. Just around the corner from Macy’s make it a great shopping stop off.

Beer, Footy, and lunch. Perfect.

By IncomingRPG |

I was staying nearby and asked the concierge in my hotel to recommend a place to eat lunch and watch an English Football game and without hesitation he suggested this wonderful establishment. It was very easy to locate and I immediately felt at home. I took up a seat at the bar, ordered a beer from the huge range on offer and waited for the match to kick off. The bar staff kept me company and we chatted about football and life away from home (they were all Irish) and I felt very welcomed and extremely relaxed. With the game started I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which came with chips (fries) and they even had vinegar for me to sprinkle on my chips which was an excellent touch. The food was lovely and came very quickly after I had placed my order. I really enjoyed my afternoon in this pub and the staff were the best bit, they were very friendly and kept me company whilst I watched the game. Next time I am in new York and I will definitely be back here for a couple of pints and some food. I highly recommend it!

Excellent Service

By Lbohanan |

Great little Irish Pub conveniently located to lots of things in the city. We stopped in to watch a World Cup game and sat at the bar. The bartender was super attentive and was quick to offer suggestions on what to try (drinks and food). Prices were par for NYC. The food was flavorful and plentiful. We ordered two apps (spicy shrimp and Irish potato skins). The potato skins were really good ... lots of cheese and bacon toppings. The shrimp were flavorful, but over cooked. We also ordered shepherd’s pie and a classic Reuben. Both were really good, but there was probably more mashed potato topping than I would have liked compared to the amount of beef and veggies...still a really good sized portion overall. I’d definitely stop in again. You should give it a try.

Good food and Setting

By sodak47 |

Once we got settled at our hotel, we ventured out to find some food. We were tired, so we didn't feel like going far. This was just up the street and we were able to get seated right away. There were a lot of people at the bar and most tables were full, but it wasn't crowded. We ordered our drinks and they came quickly. The menu had decent variety and our waiter suggested the fish and chips and they were very good. Overall a nice dining experience and would definitely recommend.

A Diamond in New York

By Den R |

What a place, we were visiting New York and eat in an Italian mediocre Italian Restaurant the previous evening. We were passing by and noticed this bar and Grill. A real gem, good food. Lovely staff and proper beer . Tell you what we will be recomending this to our family and friends who will be coming to New York. Most of great atmospheric pub. Thank you.

Great Irish bar!

By N87 |

Really great Irish bar just of 7th near madison square garden. Helpful staff and great range of drinks. Worth a visit

Terrible service and a dead fly in my beans

By welshrarebit01 |

Went there for breakfast totally disinterested waitress who obviously had a hangover from New Year’s Eve breakfast came and there was a fly in my baked beans no apology from said waitress just took them away and fetched me more which I obviously did not eat 🤢won’t be returning

Cute pub

By Barb S |

Located next to the Renaissance Marriott on 35th. Popped in for a bite / drink. Sweet server - didn’t need to write anything down and was happy to switch out gin for vodka for my drink. Chicken pot pie was good except the sauce was too watery and it’s not a crust it’s a pastry puff sitting on top. Boisterous after-work crowd but not bothersome. Typical pub.

Fab little place!

By theburiedgiant |

We came here almost every night of our stay, and would highly recommend to anyone in the area. We particularly liked that they had a selection of specials, which were very cheap! My partner generally had one of the beers and I one of the cocktails - the peach cosmo at $7 was a bargain for NYC prices, and really tasty! Apart from one mishap where the waitress took my order for a second drink, and it never arrived but we were still charged for it. The service was great, and as expected. The first day we arrived we had some drinks and snacks in the afternoon - the food seemed a tiny bit on the pricey side for what it was, but it tasted fine.

GREAT!

By randallm326 |

Fantastic food and great drinks. If you want a pub scene with great food and extra special drinks, then this is the place. You will have a great time watching sports and partying with people you did not know when you entered, but will leave as new friends. Tip well as the staff is excellent.

Great bar, scene and food

By IrishBeing |

Loved the bar. Warm and cosy, with great service, a great bar (liquor) menu and tasty food menu too! Conveniently located, but fills up on busy days.

Very good; off the main streets

By RalphK328 |

We ate lunch there a few weeks ago while in NYC. The food and service were very good. It was not over-crowded as some places are. I would recommend this place.

Another great Irish Bar

By Marie K |

We came across this bar by chance while looking to see an Irish Football Match one Sunday morning. The staff were really good, they served us a great Full Irish Breakfast, with proper Hot Tea and a decent size mug to drink from. Rare away from Ireland.

Nice Irish Pub

By RibMountain60370 |

Had a drink and business dinner. We had planned on just going for a drink but decided to have a bite to eat. The food was standard Irish Pub food but was warm and tasty. If you are looking for a quick bite and a drink in the area this is your spot.

Welcoming warm atmosphere, good food

By CrackerDC21 |

We retreated off the cold busy street into the warmth of John Sullivans. The atmosphere was welcoming and friendly, it was decked out with pretty lighting. We sat upstairs and had a lovely meal, all dishes very tasty except the garlic chicken which was disappointing. Service and prices were good and we would definitely seek out this bar and restaurant next time. Go, you'll enjoy.

Breakfast in an Irish bar?

By Karen H |

Have Lisa make an Irish Coffee for you...the best. Very enjoyable breakfast, great bartender, we'll be back.

Amazing food!

By jordd21 |

We ate here twice while in NYC for four days! It was that good! The Green Goddess Chicken Sandwich was so good. Food is about $15 per person which is pretty average for the city. My husband really liked the fish and chips. Great vibe as well!

Good grub, beer and atmosphere

By Paul B |

As per the title a decent 'Irish' bar in NYC which we stumbled upon on our first night in New York. At least some of the staff were Irish too with fairly strong accents. We had food in there which I'll upload a couple of pics of, my wife had an Irish breakfast and I had a Triple B burger both were delicious and with beer for $5 it was certainly a good place to stop. Only complaint from the wife was that it was slightly cold at our table, could have been due to the air con.

Good stop for a pint

By Chase V |

Adequate drinks decent local selection and sports on the TV. If in the area great option, good Irish pub feel and friendly bar tenders

Quick Drinks and Cocktails

By simon50 |

We were staying next door and had an hour to kill so went in with the kids. Very welcoming, great NYC authentic bar and atmosphere. Recommended.

I really like this place!

By MoSkeets |

I was in NYC recently and stopped in here on 2 occasions. The food is very good (love the Coffee Burger) and the staff seemed very attentive. Lisa was my barmaid both times and she was awesome. She's a cute Irish girl who does a great job and is quick to engage in conversation. I felt like I've known her forever! The decor is decent, the drink selection is good, and there is a nice little bar area upstairs. The downstairs bar can get a little noisy during sporting events, but other times it's fine, and the play some pretty good music. I enjoyed my experience here, and hope to return to NYC again soon. I'll surely go back!

A pleasant surprise!

By Clarice425 |

Typical New York restaurant; excellent for people watching. Good food, great service. Didn't rush us out after our meal. A good choice whether or not your trying to get away from the crowds.

Last day food and drinks - FANTASTIC

By Mark W |

why do you always find the best bar on your last day?!! Called in on our last day in NYC just to pass the time before our flight. We had the best food and drink of our trip!! Typical! We shared the nachos (huge!) and the sharing combo between my family of 6. It was delicious. My pint (pints) of Guinness were the best drinks of the trips!! ..and fairly well priced at $8 (for a pint - not the smaller NYC glasses). Budweiser is $6. I wish we’d found you earlier John Sullivan’s!!!!

Made this our home bar for our stay!

By katie l |

We absolutely loved this bar. It was our 1st time in NYC and this was down the street from our hotel. Definitely gave us a home bar feel. Not too divey and not expensive so we enjoyed it. Food was good, bartenders were great, atmosphere A++.

Good dinner and service

By Andrew L |

Trip Advisor helped us to find this spot while we were walking past on Saturday evening. It had the highest rating of other nearby restaurants. My wife and I were able to be seated immediately and our server was prompt and attentive, except after finishing our entree's because we had to flag him down to ask for cheesecake. He recovered well by continuing to provide good service. We liked the portion size of the cheesecake as it was reasonable after a meal (we hate huge deserts after a meal) and it was drizzled with good chocolate and included fresh strawberries. Our entrees were homemade, chicken pot pie and Shepard's pie. One of the nicest elements of our visit was the ability to have a normal conversation that was not drowned out by overly loud music, even though we were sitting near the bar. I find this very considerate for patrons like myself. I would definitely recommend John Sullivan's if you're in the neighborhood.

Horrible smell

By Dracofer |

The Shepherds pie was very good but the experience was over shadow by one of the server's BO it was horrible and he was standing at the bar's service station next to our table and it was horrible overwhelming every time he came down from the second floor and stand there we can smell him I'm sorry but it was to much

Good Irish Pub!

By jlipp5240 |

Went here before a concert at MSG. The place was packed but they were able to seat us within 10 mins. I had the triple B burger, it was juicy and good. We were in and out in a little over an hour. Not bad. Only issue is that it's a small place, even with the upstairs, they pack people in like sardines.

Great time any time

By אבי מ |

Great place, good alcohol prices and amazing vibes. Great place, good alcohol prices and amazing vibes.

Best food EVER

By kkennedy21 |

We went here before the concert and it honestly was amazing ! Good music, drink, and the food.... Outstanding!!! I got the chicken special and my dad got a burger and we both ate the entire thing. Large portions, fun environment, great drinks

Good Dinner and Service

By BeeDee_1 |

We visited on a Friday evening and the pub was crowded and therefore also very noisy. We were able to get seats immediately. The food was nicely prepared and tasty. We had salads (special menu), clam chowder and cheese cake as dessert. Service was a little bit slow, but that was probably due to the many persons in the restaurant. The pub has a large variety of beers. For New York the price was very reasonable.

Great place to stop and dine

By Julie S |

Looking for a place to dine and take a break from the busy streets and shops we come upon the tavern. It was a friendly place with good food and drinks. The service was thoughtful and timely.

Fun time during the 2019 Pride Day

By Dr. Tim |

We were in NYC for one day having just arrived on the Queen Mary 2 and before we hopped on Amtrak at Penn Station bound for Tucson, AZ. As luck would have it, it was the 2019 Pride Parade. People were everywhere and we just wanted a little quiet time so we ducked into John Sullivan’s. The service was great as was the John Sullivan’s IPA and the Jameson. We split a Bangers and Mash and a Pork Dumplings. We had a great time and would eat and drink here again in a heartbeat and recommend you do too!

Another great meal

By buckie1975 |

Another excellent meal at this Irish Pub. Great flavours and service. . This time round were served by Tanya, most pleasant manner and very helpful. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Awful Experience

By kaycaa5 |

We visited 16th September. We waited at the bar to be served but the barmaid was screeching at a customer (all in bantor) and we could not hear ourselves speak. We finally ordered but when our breakfast arrived she had failed to bring us tableware. The food was ok, plenty of it but not as good as Jack Doyle's, we should have walked a bit further. The shouting continued, very very unprofessional toilet humour speaking in Gaelic then translating the meaning. Other people walked in then walked out it was that loud. On trying to pay she was too busy on her phone. Terrible customer service it was almost as if she hated us but didnt even know us.

Disappointing

By Antoinetta B |

We thought an Irish pub would deliver on great drinks and a hearty Reuben sandwich. Drinks were watered down. Reuben was inedible with grizzle and tough meat. Music too loud. Not relaxing at all. Be ready to pay for dressing on your salad! Really? Service sub-par. She was angry after I sent back the Reuben and did not return to the table. Even had to go ask her for the check! Would not recommend.

Just a quick visit

By Brian K |

We only popped into Sullivan's as we had went into the nearby pig and whistle pub but it was full of loud college kids watching a game on TVs which normally we would enjoy but we were shattered after a full days sightseeing and just wanted a quiet beer . Sullivan's was quieter and had a different clientele .The staff were friendly enough and the actual bar is fine .. The prices were ok and I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there . The next time I'm in New York I will pop in for longer and maybe try the food

Great NY Irish Bar

By jclaresparkle |

Great bar near madison sq Gardens. Worth a visit if you're in the area, good selection of food & drinks at a reasonable price.

Scammer bartender

By Steven D |

Nightmare. Stay away. Bartender is a scammer!!! Initial good vibe, got a round of drinks , closed out the tab, no issues. Decided to stay for another round, but when the bill came was charged for 2 rounds. Explained to bartender who proceeded to argue that i never paid . Assumes it was a misunderstanding, as a someone who previously worked in food industry i understand issues and mishaps are prone to occur. I proceed to check My online credit card statement to verofy payment was made. Bartender proceeded with argue with that he never took payment, even after showing charge was made. This after a big argument over asking him to charge my Iphone, argued 10 minutes about my iphone now using an android charger!! Continued tryinf to charge us foe both rounds , after claiming he never took any payment from me , while also claiming the payment on my credit card was not in fill for first round? I then asked for the manager, the clearly tweaking bartender claimed to be the manager. I then asked his name, which he claimed was “john” after walking away for what i can assume was another bump. Fed up we paid and left, only to return shortly after while my friend retrieved a bag he left at the bar, at which point i over heard a conversation with a bar patron speaking yo said bartender and addressing him as “danny”. I walked over to the gentleman and asked is the bartenders name was danny, which he did confirm. I then moved to the bar and said lit was a pleasure meeting you DANNY” while he stood there with the dumbest look on his face . Stay away from This var and its tweaker bartenders

Nice neighborhood pub

By hitthehighway |

Stopped in for a quick lunch before a basketball game at Madison Square Garden. Hostess seated us quickly. Chicken wings and beer were very good. We ordered a brunch special, but didn't receive the complimentary mimosa. Perhaps we came in mid shift, but the original waitress never returned? Different waitresses and food servers visited us frequently and they were very friendly and efficient.

Good friendly pub

By Essa |

We had lunch and drinks here while passing the time waiting for the airport shuttle bus. The staff are very friendly. There's free wifi, TV screens on the walls and the food was really good. Most of all, the toilets were clean and fresh. We wished we'd found this place at the beginning of our holiday and not the end.

Awful food

By Joakim209 |

We ordered two cokes with no ice and the waitress still brings us a glass full of ice in our drinks. We then had a pasta-dish each and upon arrival we didnt know wether we got a plate of pasta or a soup. It was conpletely bland.

Yummy!

By Nandanie S |

Situation: 2 hour layover between destinations, so hubs and I needed a watering hole with good food and dranks. Result: Took a left on 35th street, and found this lovely place. I ordered the fish and chips, and hubs got the portobello mushroom sammich. Both entrees were very, very tasty. Love that I got a nice side of tartar sauce to go with my entree. Thanks for that! :) Beers were consumed, and then we left on time to catch our train back to Boston. Thanks NYC - I'm sure we will be back soon.

Again and again!

By Thomas H |

Very friendly staff. Good prices for NYC. Delicious food, good beer. Unfortunately, we only discovered the JS on the penultimate evening.

Great atmosphere, great steak.

By joeleen |

Had a lovely night here during the New York part of our American trip. Very busy bar downstairs with excellent service and good bar staff. Reasonably priced also. We ate upstairs and got very good personal service from Siobhan, one of the owners. The serving staff were very friendly and attentive. We both had steaks - best we had for our entire trip to the States. One small query - do the televisions have to be on full volume?

Don't get the Fish & Chips!

By Linsey H |

I wanted to love this place. Being an Irish Bar, I thought they'd nail fish and chips! I was wrong. It was a greasy fiasco. The service was poor. The bartender and waitress seemed uninterested in serving me. There are better places to eat/drink in this part of Midtown. The restaurant in the bottom of the New Yorker Hotel is top-notch and open 24-hrs.

Not bad

By John S |

Stopped here for breakfast on our first morning and food was decent. Good Irish style breakfast but would be better with soda bread as opposed to potatoes, although they were good as well.

Irish breakfast 🥞

By Aly L |

Had an Irish breakfast along with a breakfast burrito both were superb!! Nice place, good atmosphere. Typical Irish pub decor and layout. Home from home. VFM

It's OK, nothing special

By Charles4564 |

The full Irish breakfast is OK, but not outstanding. The menu says it comes with a grilled tomato, but that was not the case. The serving of beans was tiny and the black pudding was dry. The prices are reasonable. They had the bar tender serving the whole restaurant whist the owner stood there and watched. He was slower than molasses. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Still amongst the best.

By Ian B |

I reviewed John Sullivan's Bar after a previous trip to New York last year. I'm happy to say the Irish breakfast is still as good, the staff are still as friendly and at night it's not too noisy or too busy. (Not too busy is good for us, maybe not so for the boss). There's a conveyor belt of staff coming from Ireland and every one is friendly and pleasant to talk to. Well worth a visit .

Nothing special

By bd_derry |

The service was fantastic, very friendly, helpful and accommodating but unfortunately the food wasn't great. I'd say this is more a bar for drinks and snacks than a meal.

Tasty

Stopped in after getting flyer on the street. It was a pleasant surprise this place was all a buzz at lunch time.Place is very cosy and meal was very tasty. The very friendly and attentive.

Great spot!!

By Bocboc26 |

Have been to John Sullivan's many times on my trips to New York..Atmosphere is amazing and so is the food!! This time it was friends I visited with. We had planned on having an early dinner at 7pm and going back to the hotel for an early night after a lot of shopping, that 7pm turned into 1am and a hefty drinks bill followed by an even heftier hangover the next day!! Amazing spot great to see so many friendly Irish people working there...it's so nice to visit NY and hear a home voice and a friendly one too especially Anita and Eoin couldn't do enough for you!!! The burger and steak are to die for, definitely recommend this for a fun evening or just to take a load off from Macys..will definitely be back

Good food

By newryman |

Visited this restaurant on a Thursday night in November, good crowd on the ground floor we were a party of 8 and we thought that we would not get a table but luckily for us there was more room upstairs, now this is a great bar/restaurant it was recommended to us and we weren't disappointed, the staff are very good they got us seated and menus very quickly ,now I can't remember exactly what everyone had but our party was aged from 11 to 63 so we had everything from burgers ,pasta and fish plus sides of French fries, onion rings ,etc I can honestly say that there was very little left when we were finished we also had beers and soft drinks plus a few desserts and the bill was very reasonable the waitress was very attentive without been intrusive and richly deserved her tip, if in the Big Apple then give this establishment a shout if would have no hesitation in recommending John Sullivans

Great pub with excellent service

By Brian L |

Excellent selection of beers, wine and food. Barman J.J was exceptional. Great laid back atmosphere and authentic Irish bar feeling.

Disgusting

By dnkeenan |

Decent bar. Food ok. Service good. Disgustingly though i witnessed member of kitchen staff use toilet and not wash his hands. Im sorry i never brought it to attention of management. explains why almost every toilet in every establishment has a sign asking staff to wash hands.

Real Good Food

By tedbodnar |

The food was excellent, very tasty main courses and the drink specialties were also very good. The service takes a little bit long though. They have a gluten free menu also!

Only drink the beer they can't screw that up

By Louise N |

There was no soap in the washroom so I don't know how the staff could possibly wash their hands. Black bean burger was so hot it was in edible. The bread they provided tasted like sawdust. Waste of money. Mouth still burning even though ate less than half.

Best bar in NYC!!!

By gapedersen |

Love this place! I could have spent my entire vacation in this bar. Watched soccer, drank beer and ate great food. Loved it. Sarah treated us like kings. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

Really nice.

By nicola b |

Dropped in for breakfast/brunch. Nice selection on the menu, great service, nice surroundings. Loved it! A real find! Had Benedict and the Irish breakfast. Absolutely delicious. Staff are lovely too!!

Amazing food!!

By jaforcino |

So my fiancé & I are in town for my birthday. We passed this place on our first day on our way to somewhere else. But the outside stuck out as a quality bar we'd want to remember & come back to. So we did. We were seated immediately & sat upstairs. The atmosphere was relaxing & not too overwhelming for a couples date night. We ordered the jalapeño poppers appetizer. Ah-mazing! Beware, they're hot! So the young lady brought sour cream out for us. Super delicious. & different. They had a sausage mixture in them, so they aren't your average poppers. Now for dinner. We both ordered the Coffee Rubbed Burger with a side salad. & I've never had anything like it! Cooked just right & very flavorful. & no, the coffee rub isn't overwhelming. The service was excellent. Our food was wonderful. & we had an amazing experience for my birthday. We'll definitely be back when we visit again!! Thank you!!

New York visit

By gormandm |

Lovely Irish pub that welcomed us on our first day in New York, friendly staff and good food . The barman from longford was very helpful explaining to us how to get around, places to visit etc. There was a great atmosphere in the place and very busy in the middle of the day

Good find

By Dwayne852 |

We were headed to Maddison Square Garden and found this bar on the way to the venue. Very friendly staff and the food and drinks were delivered very quickly considering that it was a very busy Friday night. Not too expensive either considering our location within NY.

Visited 5 times in 6 days- say no more

By Newyorkfan40 |

Found this bar around the corner from the hotel as we we're too early to check in, do we had a bite to eat and a beer. After a very long day of sightseeing we always ended up back here. The food was good and a decent price.

Wonderful Pre-Concert Dinner

By Pete A |

We went to John Sullivan's Bar and Grill before attending the Billy Joel concert on Valentine's Day. We went based on recommendations online. We were first nicely greeted with the special Billy Joel Concert menu, which we were not expecting. My wife and I had the Grilled NY Shell Steak, and it was great at a very reasonable price. The atmosphere was very good, and the beer was good too! Clara was our server and she was very attentive and friendly. Definitely a restaurant to recommend to many.

Great place for lunch

By Kathleenwilliam |

We had lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The place was nice and quiet. Service great, and food was way better than the usual bar options.

Nice Happy Hour

By ontheroadagain09_9 |

Stopped in for a drink before dinner. Bartender made a tasty Old Fashioned with just the right amount of bitters. Good conversationalist, too. Ample pour of good merlot, as well. Will frequent the bar again.

A pleasant bar

By Wardnick1 |

I spent an afternoon here. The main level is long and narrow so tables along the wall afford good views of the multiple tv screens showing games. I didn’t see the upper level. The draft beer was good and the fish and chips was better than I expected.

Good Irish Pub, not Great

By Brad A |

If I could give it a 3.5, I would feel better. It's better than average and yet it's not very good. It's good if you want a nice cozy Irish Pub. The food is ok, just wasn't impressed. With so many great Irish Pubs in the vicinity, I'm surprised they aren't keeping up with the competition.

Great Pub

By DublinBluebuddy |

Great food, proper pints of beer. Staff very friendly. We had drinks here a few times. This pub is beside the Renaissance Midtown Hotel which we stayed in.

Very average, disappointing

By Niall |

Dined here with friends, and we were disappointed in the quality and the food was sort of thrown at us!! Had a chicken dish which must have been sitting in the oven awhile!! Covered in gravy and mash was sort of soaked in it!!! Not the best value either!! Disappointing really.Friends had the burger, was ok, and a shepherds pie, where only a few bites were eaten!!! Great to try a few new places, but sadly wont be returning.

Beautiful Irish Bar & Grill

By Roy David J |

We stumbled upon this venue by accident and that was our good fortune. A beautifully decorated Irish pub with lots of dark wood and subdued lighting that created a great atmosphere. The service was very good and the food was above average. The high point for me was the availability of "Smithwicks." For those of you who have never been to Ireland, Smithwicks to the ale of choice throughout the country - far more popular than Guinness or Kilkenny and there is good reason for this - it is wonderful! Love your work guys!

Ok

By 213Jan50 |

Called in for a quick drink, not really much to tell about this place. Was quiet, staff were nice but pushy. Kept asking if we wanted another drink. Not a place I'd go to again.

Great Irish bar

By Daniel M |

Right next to our hotel so decided to pop in for lunch. Draft beer selection brilliant and sandwiches lovely. All the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Must drop in even for a drink if in the area.

Nice place to eat after attending ashow

By bluelady_11 |

The restaurant is located in Midtown Manhattan between 7th & 8th Ave. west. It is a Irish pub - we dined upstairs as it was more intimate & not as noisy. The atmosphere was nice & you could watch television. We were looking for a place to eat as we were just leaving the theatre and it turned out great. Was a little surprise that when we asked for bread we had to pay a fee.

Hungry bite under windy night

By SouthSea1991 |

A bar Next to Renaissance Hot, very convenient as no choice as tonight it was so chilly windy. Cream Soup of Spinach was great. 12oz steak was on average but the spinach on side was perfect. Recommended for hotel guests of Renaissance as it was better than its 5th floor restaurant, no doubt! The waitress serving me was of no smile but helpful. Come again definitely next time if probably staying at the same hotel next door.

John Sullivans

By stephenwN4327RV |

I really loved this Irish Pub. The food was excellent, beer was cold and the atmosphere was fantastic. The waitresses and bar tenders were first rate. The bar tenders even knew how to draw a shamrock on the foam of a Guinness

Top Irish bar

By Smidger19 |

My wife, son and i stumbled across this place while looking for breakfast on our second to last day. I wish we had found it on our first day. Breakfast was spot on. They also had hp sauce, which is absolutely necessary when having a full Irish breakfast. Drinks prices where reasonable, staff very good, even the new venazualan girl was good. The Irish lad behind the bar was superb.Me and the missus even got tshirts. Would've spent a lot more time there if we could've. Many thanks

OUSTANDING!

By Thomas K |

We wanted a place to eat/drink before the Rangers game on Saturday night and found John Sullivan's. It was packed but we found 2 places at the bar. The Guinness was great and we ordered steaks to go with our cold beers.....we were not disappointed! The steaks were just as we liked them, medium rare and very juicy. All steak and no fat! We watched the football games had multiple drinks/shots along with great food all for under $100.00 for 2 people (OK it was $98) and that is a bargain in NYC. Also, the bartending staff was OUTSTANDING! To top the night off the Rangers won....great night all around.

Excellent lunch

By edvh81 |

Roaming around Times Square after spending the morning at the 911 Memorial and getting hungry. We walked past John Sullivan’s and went around the corner looking for food and didn’t see anything that jumped out so we decided to go give the Bar and Grill a try. We had a nice lunch in an intimate pub. Unfortunately we were all fighting colds so we chose not to have a lunchtime drink. Service was top notch. I ate classic fish and chips, my friend had a burger, and another one had a Rueben. All the food was hot and tasty and promptly served. We were happy we stopped here.

like a trip to Ireland

By Regbowman |

I was just walking the streets in New York and stumbled upon the little gem, great food, great service, and a great value for the the city. They have a $10.00 menu and some 5.00 drafts I highly recommend this place if your in New York City.

Does exactly what it says on the tin :)

By SMig84 |

This pub was my local while staying in midtown. Great fun, late opening, rowdy (at times), decent food (I had the shrimp and chocolate mousse cake), generous drinks and reasonably priced for the area. As a solo traveller, the reason I'll be coming back is the exceptional charming service by staff - thanks for keeping me entertained and see you again soon!

Fun atmosphere fun staff

By Enda W |

Great for a stop off eat and drink when you need a olace to get out of the crazy city day. Friendly Irish staff and hearty food menu.

Great Guinness

By PopeyeD |

Stopped in for a few pints before a recent show at The Garden. They pull a great pint of Guinness. Then grabbed a table upstairs for a bite. Good wings + Irish breakfast served all day! My friend had the fish & chips. We both enjoyed our meals. Generous portions & great service from a young lady from Limerick.

Okay but there's better options around.

By DDaly7 |

The food was okay. I ordered the chicken sandwich and was slightly disappointed. Location is great, just off 7 th avenue but there are much better places to go and eat. Mustang Harry's just up the road offers much better food and care. The waiters were very nice but the food was an overall let down.

Make this place your number 1 stop when in New York....

By Si' |

I cannot praise this place highly enough, from the moment I first went there to the 5th time I went. Everything about it epitomises what you would expect from a bar from the friendly bar staff to the great food. Strewn with TV's showing various sports, this place is popular and it doesn't surprise me as to why! I first walked into this bar just as a stop off from Macys to Times Square, I didn't realise it was there as it is kind of hidden away on 35th West street, just of 7th Avenue. I am glad I did as the barman was friendly an made me feel welcome. The Budweiser that is on draught is only 4 Dollars a pint - bargain! I also ate here a few times too, the food is nice and reasonably priced also. I can recommend the Panini special ($13.95), as well as the Fish and Chips ($15.95). The Irish Girls that work here are also lovely and friendly, an provide a very good service as you are not waiting for your food for too long. John Sullivans is definitely worth a visit when you are in New York - try it, you wont be disappointed.

Great place!

By G T |

This is a great place to sit and relax, watch a game and have a drink and a bite to eat. It’s very central to lots of attractions, and the staff are friendly. Their chicken wings are the nicest I’ve ever eaten, so if you do nothing else, go for the wings!

Nice but busy bar and restaurant

By Lin-Mark-Tutton |

Stopped in here for dinner after a busy day sightseeing. Think everyone else had the same idea!! However the service was quite and our waitress was very friendly and courteous despite being rushed off her feet. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Well situated in midtown, close to subways and central Manhattan.

Great place for drinks!

By karenU4652SE |

We recently met a friend here for late night drinks. The atmosphere was lively but not overwhelming. Our bartender was attentive and friendly and the prices were acceptable for the area.

Great Lunch

By Dale Y |

Stopped in for lunch while walking around, enjoying the sites of NYC. A good selection of beers on tap. The servers were very knowledgeable and attentive. Both of us ordered burgers, cooked to my requested medium rare. An enjoyable atmosphere

Very Delicious Food

By John M |

This isn't "pub" food. It's much better than that. Took the family. The wait staff happily accommodated a special order not on the menu. Food was delicious. Very friendly staff.

Decent Irish Bar & Food

By Mark B |

The corned beef Reuben had quite a bit of juicy meat in the sandwich, and it was not problem to switch the standard fries for a side salad, and the salad was good with lots of different veggies in there (i.e. not just lettuce). The staff were attentive and helpful. The Smithwicks was a little flat, but still the best beer by far on the tap for my taste.

Full irish breakfast

By TW27EX |

Went here for breakast before the England v Ireland game, great breakfasT, great staff, came away stuffed and happy, worth a visit!!

Fantastic breakfast, great staff

By paul b |

We called in looking for a good breakfast and weren't disappointed. Everything was great quality and very tasty. The staff were superb, so much so that we called in later.

Quick stop for a few drinks

By likegoodfood21 |

While staying next door at the Renaissance, wife and I stopped in here for a few before dinner drinks. Bartender was a nice Irish lad that we had some good conversation with. He found out were we celebrating my birthday and set us up with a few shots on the house after our first round. Great place to watch sports. Fun atmosphere. Didn't have any food so review is just based on atmosphere, cleanliness and friendly barkeeps.

Mid-afternoon (3pm) Lunch/Dinner

By Richard R |

My spouse and I were walking up and down Time's Square and found this place (Thanks TripAdvisor!). I had the Sandwich Spec, which was a ground Turkey patty w/cheddar cheese, grilled onions and a piece of "Irish" bacon on a whole wheat bun along with lettuce, tomato and a slice of onion(yes - more onion, which I did not mind). Side of fresh cooked fries. My spouse had the grilled Buffalo Chicken Sandwich (asked for and got "Hot", as in spicy). Coke shop - surprisingly, they charge $1.50 for "Soda Refill"s. Two sandwich platters, 4 glasses of Coke was $38.82 before tip. Would recommend.

Authentic Irish Pub

By Todd B |

Stayed right down the street and this place became our base of operations while planning our NYC excursions for the day or the next. Nice people in an inviting environment. Solid pub fare. Get a pint of Guinness.

Fun bar with excellent atmosphere.

Fun bar with excellent atmosphere. Recommend the 10 dollar lunch. Good service. Highly recommend . Very busy

Awesome economical restuarant near Penn Station!

By TXGirlinKY |

Forget economical, it is just dern good. Had lunch here, Parpadelle Boulognaise, a little cheesier than I am used to but very good. Appetizer calamari, very good. Came back for dinner, had the Chicken and Lobster, was so yummy I got an order to go to take home on the airplane.

By Breen S |

After dining in this pub twice in two days during out NY visit. Friendly pleasant staff Good reasonably priced food. Recommended big time. Burgers to die for.

Good if loud Irish bar

By saturdaydiner |

We stopped in here post theatre matinee on a Saturday. It's proximity to Penn Station is a plus. The loud reference was mostly caused by a Rangers playoff game on about 7 tv's. No biggie really. We had a lovely waitress from Belfast, two excellent Guinness each and every good sandwiches at low side NYC prices. A good stop!

"Sit at the Bar"

By pjdpri |

It was suggested by a bar tender from a different Irish Pub to try Sullivan's, first time there. I wanted the traditional Irish breakfast even though it was 3:30 in the afternoon. The first Irish place we stopped at still didn't have the O.K. from Con Ed after having a kitchen fire back in the beginning of the year. We sat at the bar, the conversation is much better. The floor show, if you know what i mean is so much more entertaining... Tried the fish and chip along with the full Irish breakfast, very good, two Irish beers and a Irish coffer for desert... We will return...

Terrible bartender

By Marin S |

Terrible experience at new years eve. Terrible bar tender We wanted to pass the new year eve somewhere in NyC and found this pub near our hotel. I found it ahead im time and reserved online. 1 week before i called and explained that we were to families with kids of 15,14 and 9 and asked if this was ok because we wanted to stay. A lady reassured us that it will be ok We go there ~ at 9PM and present with the reservation done online. First surprise they didn’t even look at it and there was no place but no worries they said because they had space upstairs. We start eating and drinking and every 15 min we see the waiter asking if we wanted kore drinks. At 22:25 the waiter tells us that we need to go out in 5 min because it will be a party. We start arguing but useless because the bartender that was kind of responsible start yelling to us that were with kids. He stated a law that kids cannot stay but neither they said this 1 hour and a half once we entered nor in the call i mentioned above. Very calmly i tried to say to him that we called and someone made sure that we could stay but he kept yelling. Once we saw the invoice we start asking why you put by default 20% tips (we were not aware of an unwritten rule) and was just a question. Useless even this he was continuing to yell offend 2 families with the kids This was our experience at this pub made disgusting by this man that was the coordinator of the bar. Anyhow we wished them happy new year and left the tips they wanted. Hope this person will not work anymore there

The best dinner in New York!

By Eva |

We wanted to eat steak, and not wanted to spend 60-100 USD per strip. So we looked at the reviews of John Sullivan's Bar & Grill, and decided to try it, especially that it was right in our street. First of all, the young waitress was extremely helpful and nice to us, topped every other customer service we experiences in New York. The steaks were just delicious. I mean really really great. And the price was half of what you would pay in most other restaurants in the city. I did have steak in a more expensive restaurant before, and I cannot tell the difference. So go go go to Sullivan's. The beer was also good, and again, the service was excellent. Thank you, good job!

A Welcome Find....

By Ian_Stokoe |

Me and a friend chanced upon this place to get away from a torrential downpour, and glad we did. A very friendly, and warm welcome awaits. Good selection of beer, and come 12pm the place was full of visitors having the $10 lunch menu deal. Didn't have food myself, but it looked very nice. I would definitely make another trip here next time I'm in town....

Great place!

By Mike Z |

Went here last night for dinner with a few colleagues and we were all happy. It was a great pub atmosphere and the service was great. They have a full bar with a good selection of beer. We had a variety of burgers and they were all very good. I would definitely recommend this place.

Loved it

By Belinda P |

Don’t agree with the earlier review about the chicken pot pie . My husband and I went there and he had the chicken pot pie and I had the Shepard’s pie and we both loved it . We both said in the week that we have been in New York it was the best meal we have had here . We also had the chicken soup as Entree and that was great too . The restaurant was very busy but our waitress was still lovely and polite even though she was run off her feet . We only have great things to say about the meal, staff and restaurant/bar

Go for drinks not food

By Autumn M |

We went here for dinner. Our waitress was really scattered. The garlic bread was really good. The shepard's pie was horrible. Go here for drinks and maybe appetizers.

Drinks after work visit

By mattheww765 |

Drinks after work on w 35th. Good atmosphere, friendly bartenders, and overall a good vibe. Didn't have any food but it looked good from what I could see and hear.

Awesome pub in midtown.

By DavidBN31 |

I had visited the year before when on holiday and really liked it. Went back and the place is awesome. Great bar staff and great beer. So Good in fact we went the 2 nights we were in NYC and also had the full irish breakfast the morning we were leaving. I can fully recommend this as the breakfast was delicious. Great staff, great atmosphere, great location and if you are in this part of the city you should give it a try.

Great Irish bar warm cosy and homely very traditional Lovely Irish girl from Cork served us very friendly and chatty Had a very generous Baileys coffee and a beer for my hubby Nice different menu but we hadnt eaten so missed out Would defo re vist a lovely atmosphere away from the madness of NYC

Good pub, good food.

By Ian B |

There are lots of Irish bars in New York but John Sullivan's on W. 35th Street is excellent. Not too crowded, not too noisy and a delicious Irish breakfast served by equally delicious Irish colleens. Worth a visit.

High Energy

By Equity |

My wife and I were looking for a place to eat after seeing a game at MSG and we found John Sullivan's! Good find! It was a Friday evening and the place was packed with people having a good time! We got a table right away upstairs and our server was prompt and friendly. Drinks and food were both very good and reasonably priced. We were drinking Jamison & Gingers. My wife had burger sliders and I had fish & chips. The fish was delicious fresh cod, the chips were hot & crisp and the portions large! We both liked it there very much and would return anytime.

Great lunch

Good food, above average for a bar. Very friendly service. Playing good background music. Not too loud. Would recommend.

Quick Breakfast

By Mark C |

Popped in for a quick breakfast as staying close by. Lively Sunday mornings ending crowd who were in for the Gaelic football final. Service was still efficient and friendly and the food as described but nothing special

Great pub

By FionaJ834 |

Had a lovely lunch stop off today, food great and reasonable with great choices available from a comprehensive menu, beer great too. Sport on lots of TV screens but thankfully a quite bar to chat while we ate, makes a great change from blaring music or sport commentary.

SITTING AT THE BAR

By Diane C |

This something we do not tend to do the UK but whist in New York I love it with all the TV screens and sitting next to people you do not know. We visited this friendly Irish bar on several occasions for pre-dinner drinks, the bar staff were friendly and accommodating. Although we did not eat here the food served looked good.

Convenient to NYPenn

By Skych8ser |

I went for lunch, sat at the bar and ordered the Salmon salad - excellent, it was a special. You walk in to a long bar on street level, there is another bar upstairs. Decent crowd and good bartender. Convenient to penn station for commuters.

Nice Bar, Disappointing Food

By Joseph D |

Was staying at the Renaissance next door and was returning from a late business event and stopped in here for a drinks and some food. It’s your typical Irish themed bar with the long wood bar and very dimly lighted. It was after 11:00 pm on a Tuesday night so it wasn’t crowded and I took a seat at the bar. A good amount of TV’s over the bar for a variety of games to watch. They have a nice selection of beers and I prefer a couple of Items from the bar menu. I began with the Crispy Pork Dumplings with a Teriyaki Sauce which were over cooked and the sauce was way too thick. Then I had the Angus Slider which the cheese on top was burnt and the crispy onions were cold. The mini burgers were actually tasty which made the whole presentation all the more disappointing. So if you’re in the area I would stop for drinks, but head somewhere else for food.

Good food

By dslatus |

Went here after walking around trying to find somewhere to eat. Seated right away upstairs. First waitress was okay, didn't really understand what we were asking for. Ended up with a different waitress, who was very good, attentive, except at end when we needed check. Had the penne with vodka sauces - extremely good! Kids had chicken tenders and fries from the appetizers and enjoyed it. Pastrami special was very good - quite spicy. Overall, a very good experience - nice atmosphere, good food. Would definitely recommend!

Great NYC bar

By MickyB79 |

Called in with family to watch Man Utd v Hull City whilst visiting NY. The bar tender could not be more friendly and accommodating and chatted with us whilst we sat at the bar, drank beers and ate chicken wings whilst watching the game. The bar soon filled and there was a good atmosphere. We called in for a second time on this occasion choosing to have lunch, I had fish and chips my wife went for the burger. Both were excellent as was the service. Bar and food prices are reasonable for NYC

Terrible Service & Disgusting Hygeine

By Eileen G |

Went to this place first time tonight. (Bartender picking his nose behind bar). Waited about 20 minutes and I had to ask bartender for something because he was too busy talking to some girl at the end of the bar. Even filled my glass with club soda instead of water. I will never come here again. Go to Jack Doyles on the same street. Bartenders are so much nicer and more professional.

Great food

By Newyorkfan40 |

Great food, great staff especially Keira who was really friendly. Came here last year and made a point if visiting a couple if times this week

Great find

Amazing food, quick service, but they don't rush you out the door. Ideal location and CLEAN! Our waitress was fantastic.

Great pub

By Lindsey E |

What a great pub, great food friendly staff. Loved going there every day on our 4 day visit, Guinness amazing on tap also. Defiantly a must visit pub👍

Disappointing

By Suzanne35691 |

Maybe it was an off night, but our party of three was not impressed. Maybe it was the tripped-out woman in the bathroom. Or maybe the guy looking for a dental implant. Or could've been the disinterested waitstaff busy chatting each other up. My hubby's sliders were good but chicken tacos were drippy wet and subpar. Next time in NY we'll look elsewhere.

Cover charge to watch the match?

By MKDub |

$20pp cover charge to watch the GAA final. One free drink incl. in cover charge. But drinks are weak and they don't get any stronger. Bit of a joke. Staff are friendly and place looks well. Otherwise it would be a 1 star.

SUPERB SERVICE AND SURPRISINGLY SCRUMPTIOUS FOOD!

By EileenO727 |

Do you ever see the sandwich boards around town pointing you to wherever the place is? Usually, kind of a spurious choice to go and find the actual place. We did, and, boy, are we glad we found this place! Immaculate bar and restaurant, decorated with festive holiday decors(Christmas) and breakfasts served with charm and a smile. AND THE FOOD IS GOOD! Go for breakfast - mimosas are included - and stay for the ambience, albeit a sportsbar, but a good one and no lingering hooch smells! Even an outdoor smoking room, vented to the sky! Add extra stars for the Irish brogues of some of the waitresses, and the upstairs more or less quieter seating. We had the Irish Breakfast - hearty and neatly presented - Fish and Chips and Eggs Benedict. Our waitress, Christiana, was a blonde charmer by way of Latvia and Ireland. We want to make this a regular stop and try some of the other fare - a varied and good menu. A nice surprise in the Penn Station area...
