Very cosy and small friendly environment. I had sausage and pancakes, it was excellent. This place excels due to its friendly and vibrant staff. I got speaking to them both, John & Nate. They make the experience much better. During my stay this has been, by far, the best place for breakfast in the city.

Great food and friendly service from the guys...good banter from the guys who like to chat to customers. Mix of tourists like us and regulars who obviously came back time and again....everyone made to feel very welcome. Had breakfast bagels and a sandwich , which set us up for a busy few days in Manhattan. Totally recommend trying this authentic luncheonette in NY. Sorry I couldn't convince Keanu to come in!!

We come to Johny’s every year when we visit New York City. They never disappoint. Best breakfast and pancakes in the city. Great staff!! The prices are perfect! What else do you need?

Based on the comments, I had planned to have some of our breakfasts in this place. The reception by the waiter was very friendly, we felt immediately at home except my husband who was constantly pushed by a delivery man not very attentive! The food was correct without more (undercooked pancakes and very heavy). When we checked the exorbitant score , the "chef?" had added a 20% automatic tip directly to our place on the payment tablet (the only ones to do this without our consent!) . Plus he refused to give us the bill that amounted to $120 for 4 basic breakfasts. And it was mandatory! The tone changed and we were ready not to let ourselves be done and to call the police. This unpleasant "little chef" deigned to reduce the tip and told us: If you come back, I won't accept you! How could he think we'd come back to his place? In fact, I tipped everywhere because in all establishments you are given the choice! Not giving an option was unacceptable. (And legal)???

From the friendly atmosphere to the breakfast potatoes and pancakes, it’s a must in the Fashion District in NYC. The prices are good and the portions are amazing.

Just perfect! On our 5 day stay we came 3 morning so much we appreciated the place, the friendliness and especially the quality / quantity of dishes offered directly before our eyes! We opted for the KingKong formula and banana and chocolate pancakes 😋 On the other hand it is better to come “early” around 9am because from 10am it may be necessary to wait before being installed because the restaurant is small (which makes all its charm) To conclude we loved it!!

When we got to Johny's at 9:30AM on a Friday there was a line to get in. We were a little taken back, I guess the good TripAdvisor reviews have had an effect. The guy directing the line from the window in the restaurant seemed a bit surly, about what you'd expect in NYC. After about 20 minutes we were seated by a friendly young man and were surprised at how small this place is. No wonder there was a line it probably seats lest than twenty people. Our waiter was great. Young, energetic, quick to smile, efficient and fun . The pancakes I had were delicious and a very generous portion. My spouse liked his omelet so thumbs up all he way around. We like this place and would go again.

First time here. Read the great reviews. Its a small place, maybe 15 seats. We waited maybe 10 min outside. No lunch before 12pm. Service was OK. Food was pretty good. Prices were fair to low. I'd go back.

The service was fine, the food was less than mediocre, I had the spinach and feta omelet with lots of spinach and one tiny piece of feta, greasy homefries, in he Greek omelet that my friend ordered she also could not find the feta cheese. The omelets were dry and tasteless. When we checked out, by the short order cook, a rather rude person who added an automatic 20% tip, no option whether to tip or not to. I actually overtip most of the time but not to give me the option was not acceptable. There are few options in the area, I suspect that is how they have survived.

Classic NYC breakfast - lunch counter joint. Excellent Food & Prices. We had an egg with pastrami on a roll ($12) and a western egg sandwich on a muffin ($9). Coffee is $2.50. The place is long narrow space with a counter and stools. We'll be back.

Outstanding food in such a fun, true-to-life diner environment. You, too, can take a stool at the counter and watch the very talented chef prepare your eggs, pancakes, etc. I had the blueberry pancakes with bananas on the side and it was truly delicious. Coffee was amazing, too. The service is so nice, even when the place got super busy and a line was forming out the door. If you find yourself having to wait in line for Johny's, let me tell you it is worth the wait.

Great place!! Great service! Worth the wait. Simple breakfast options at a fair price!! Get there early to get a seat. Thank you Johny’s!!

Great breakfast. Very small restaurant though so be prepared to queue but it’s worth the wait. You sit and watch your breakfast being prepared/cooked.

Small typical restaurant for breakfast, we eat directly at the counter, we were directly in contact with the waiter and the cook who are super welcoming and very accessible. Moreover we ate hearty and it was delicious. Great time for us. Xoxo switzerland
Walk pass don’t stop
Overpriced for everything. The French toast was just ok, I ate it because it cost $18 with ham but so dissatisfied with everything. Don’t waste ur money or waiting to get in. Move on down the street
