My son and I came here for a late night meal after seeing a play, and we were so lucky to have found that it was open. What a treat!!

Had a lovely dinner here with a local friend. Staff and food were both wonderful and totally worth the money. Don't do reservations unfortunately so its the kind of place you would try your luck a with a back up plan you wouldn't plan your whole evening around getting a table.

I stopped in late on a weekend night. It's a tiny place and they don't take reservations, so be ready to possibly wait. I had a cheese plate and the duck dinner. Both were very good. I thought the place itself had a good vibe and the cocktails were yummy. I will certainly go again.

The food is delicious and the portions are generous! The place is cozy and welcoming! We had a great experience and the service was amazing!

Went for brunch and got a good spot at the bar. Chicken sandwich was AMAZING. Super friendly bar tender who took really good care of us.

Wanted to go here for months. Finally did and were not disappointed. Service is outstanding and the food!! Great wine selection, romantic and casual.

Stopped in for a late breakfast on a recent trip to NYC. I had the saucisson a l'ail [French garlic sausage] with eggs. The sausage was very tasty-- garlic notes were strong, but not overpowering the rest of the sausage. Eggs were good. The "hash brows" were superb! Nicely cooked in the middle-- soft, almost knish-like. The outside layers were a remarkable lattice of crispy-fired goodness. Quite unique to me, and fantastic! French press coffee and attentive service make this place a winner. Would love to come back and try dinner menu.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. Great drink recs by the waitress. She was very attentive and made our evening. The food was very good. Nothing memorable, just good, solid food. Lamb meatballs were delicious, but nothing else wowed us. Cute decor, but I agree with other reviewers: the noise level kills the evening. We were with 22-25 year olds, and they prefer other restaurants in the area that are quieter. Not sure if the acoustics are poor, or they're trying to be "hip" with the noise. In any case, won't be back soon. Heard the same thing from other diners, which is a shame because it could be our go-to place!!!

Loved this place, amazing friendly atmosphere, best breakfast we had all trip and found this place by chance, love it !

This was a quaint and wonderful treat to go to this restaurant in the west Village. The food, service, decor and wine were all great. Definitely get there early since the restaurant is small and it fills up. Recommended.

Found this place on our trip from the UK to NYC and we loved it. Really tiny place, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Food was great and staff were absolutely gorgeous (a sweet guy spent time with us chatting about where to go, etc). Very memorable and would highly recommend.

Tonight was my first time here at this west village gem and it was delicious! It’s a small spot but was great for intimate dining with friends. Highly recommend for a date night. The food was incredible! Two of us has the duck which was even better than I expected. The pork belly appetizer was amazing and the scallops are a must. Service was great and the vino was top notch. Definitely worth the splurge. Hope to return again soon!

I have been in nyc for 5 days now, I have been to this awesome little cafe twice in the past few days and each time it has been great. Great coffee, great breakfast and the people that work there are really friendly. I highly recommend.

Great feel in the heart of Greenwich village. But is this really worth $24. Small size plates. The wine was equally overpriced st $60 for 4 glasses.

I have to say that I did not come here for brunch, which seems to be really amazing, but for the burger that is only on the menu after midnight. I have no idea where I read that they have an amazing burger, but I knew I had to try it once I did! The burger is a no frills, no mess kind of deal but it hit the spot big time. We came after going out in the neighborhood on our walk home, but weren't super drunk. It was about 12:45am and we got seated right by the window in the front. The vibe seemed great in there and the bar was packed. We all ordered the burger and my fiance and I split an order of fries because I figured I didn't need to have a whole order to myself - bad idea obviously I won't ever do that again. Order Own Fries. I started to pick at my friend next to me's fries when all of a sudden I noticed she was moving things around her plate. She was moving the fries to the side of the plate that was furthest from me. Ha! I was dying inside and couldn't wait to tell me fiance when we left what I have noticed. I didn't call her out but realized I should stop mooching and deal with my poor judgement! Fries and burger were perfect and really worth heading to at a random time for! I guess I have to go back from brunch one of these days!

Starting out good with the usual welcome. Then You will soon be forgotten if You are not known. Some of the staff seems more important than the customers. Selfimportant hostlike kind of woman and arrogant bartender. Some of the others really nice though. The worst wine by the glass we found and half the amount. Find another place since there are so many that are better.

This is a very pretty little place in the West Village. Anywhere which is packed with locals is always a good indicator. While there was a short wait it was absolutely worth it. It's tiny inside, just a few tables with the bar and kitchen dominating. Sitting at the edge we scored a fantastic spot for watching everything, even nabbing a window, and soaked up the neighbourhood atmosphere. Brunch was outstanding, service more so. A little pricy but we found NYC prices much more expensive on this trip, but absolutely worth it. Brunching in NYC is a rite of passage and if you're looking for neighbourhood authentic then come here. Beautifully styled, great team of people, delicious food. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed egg sandwich and fruits served with a smile. Capuccino was very tasty. Enjoyable ambiance in small cosy restaurant

This is a cute, neighborhood-y place with great food. I ordered the octopus salad and it was delish! Really tender octopus, lentils in a wonderfully seasoned sauce with a few touches of braised oxtail. Topped it off with the flourless chocolate mousse - really good! And, we had great service! Get here early as they don't take reservations and seats fill up fast since it's so small.

So great! Highly recommend! Just make sure you build in time to wait for a table as there aren't many tables and it's very popular. Worth the wait! Staff very friendly! :-)

Really cozy brunch place with filling but not obscenely large servings. Good food and coffee. We sat at the bar. While food was great and service efficient, we felt a bit "nudged" to move along after we had our meal. Nothing too pushy but certainly felt we shouldnt linger. Otherwise great place.

The food here was amazing! It’s a great vibe in the cafe/ restaurant, the server with the pride bandana was great :) this was the best breakfast I had in my 5 days in NYC, absolutely incredible!

a consistently good brunch spot in the village with classics (benedicts and fried chicken), as well as more adventuresome items (sriracha brussel sprouts and curried lentils). expect to wait an hour or more for two on the weekend.

We came across this place while walking in the neighborhood, the host is super-friendly and we were convinced to stay even with a 40-min warning of waiting time as the place is really small. Music was great, people were nice, food was good (my friend loved the oyster, I loved the shrimp fritters), great lemon/ginger cocktail... Would definitely come back again!

Little cozy place, with a very busy bar, staff is attentive and warm, food very good. They have a nice wine list, we had fish and meet, both delicious. It can be very busy so you may need to wait to get a table or eat at the bar, I would suggest to wait it is worth.

Have been here at least half a dozen times . Quintessential fun "happening" brunch spot in the Village with very good food , music and atmosphere . Does not take reservations so show up and they will take your mobile and call you 45mins - 1 hour later . We go to Three Lives Bookshop- a block away and the time flies . Their avocado toast with poached eggs is awesome as are fried chicken , burgers and carrot cake desert .

We were looking for a place to have a light lunch while walking around Greenwich and we found this little place. It was just what we wanted. It is small and cosy, the service is warm and friendly and the food was fresh and excellent, specially the " to die for" carrot cake. We really love this place and might go back for another treat before we leave NYC.

Small (cozy is a great description) but wonderful restaurant. We had the pork hock and one of the specials of the night, duck. Both excellent. Drinks, deserts, and service all admirable. Would highly recommend. Part of the Little Wisco restaurant group. Midwesterners will find a taste of home.

Two of us went for breakfast. We had the avocado toast, excellent, and the croissant french toast, outstanding. The restaurant is small and reservations are needed to make sure you get seated when you arrive. The employees are courteous, helpful, and make your breakfast experience memorable. We will make this a stop on our next NYC visit.

What a find , friendly staff in this cosy eatery opposite the famous Stonewall Bar , the food was very good and seeing other peoples food go buy its a place I would like to work my way through the menu if I lived local , on our visit we had the Eggs Benedict which was cooked to perfection and washed down with a sparkling wine and great coffee .

I visited twice during my stay in NY because of the amazing food! Very friendly staff and nice music. Cosy feeling. It is nice to combine it with an after drink in one of the jazz bars of the neighborhood. Love meatpacking district 😊❤!!

We stumbled across this restaurant when wandering round the area seeing the sights of nyc. We first of all went in for a drink in the afternoon, and we're told we could stand near the bar. The place itself is very small, but added to the atmosphere. So after seeing the plates coming out we wanted to come back for breakfast the next day as it was our last day in NYC. We weren't able to book but arrived for opening time, glad we did as within half an hour the place was full with locals and tourists alike. The restaurant obviously has a good name to match the food. The breakfast was very fresh and excellently cooked, one of the best eggs benedicts we had tasted. We would definitely eat here time and time again when we go back, the small size adds to the ambience of the place and thoroughly recommend it for a hearty breakfast before walking and seeing the sights.

The decor is amazing. Old photos & antiques. The food is outstanding. Be sure to have the oysters & the ny strip steak is the best

This restaurant is very small, but very cozy. Service is super friendly. We had to wait an hour for a table, but the nice hostess gave us a phone call when it was ready (while we were having drinks at a bar nearby). It's mostly French-American cuisine, and I liked it a lot (I had great duck). This restaurant is a perfect choice for a romantic dinner.

We have been out for a meal at raffelles and it was lovely. We wanted to call somewhere for a drink/cocktail, we came across this bar. Upon entering we were asked to wait at the bar by a guy, another guy presumably the manager came and told us to get a drink and he would find somewhere for us to sit. After we purchased a over priced drink, he sat us at the end of the bar. Ten minutes into the drink he tells us we have to drink up and he will move us if he can or we would have to pay up and leave as he had people paying more to eat. He actually said "oh great you have a bill already!" Although he came across friendly he really needs to brush up on his customer service skills. I.e. you treat customers fairly and make them feel valued. Its quite simple really. I've travelled the world and never been made to feel so un welcome. Don't go here if you just want a drink. In fact I would bother at all. I can't really tell you about the ambience as I was too shocked at the way we were repeatably treat to really notice. My tip to you...... Go anywhere but here.

Stopped in for lunch while shopping. Excellent service, great salad and appetizer. A nice place to rest and watch the local scene at lunch. Check out 3 Lives bookstore 1.5 blocks away after lunch.

Hands down our favorite place in the city. From the delicious deep fried bacon and Bloody Mary at brunch, to the incredible burger at dinner, to the pudding dessert that is ridiculous, this place will not disappoint. Doesn’t hurt that the staff is amazing. We go at least a few times a month!

As cheeseheads, we figured we had to check out one of the Wisco restaurants. We were very happy with the omelette and avocado toast. No cheese curds, but great cheddar grits! Fine coffee. And Midwestern friendliness smack-dab in the West Village.

Ambiance meets taste, menu creativity, and a cocktail & wine program second to none. Everybody wins.

This is located in leafy Greenwich village, small inviting restaurant which serves healthy and delicious food. Went there around 11:30am and ordered the daily special of salmon flatbread with poached eggs in a hollandaise sauce which was beautiful spiced. This is the best brunch I have had so far and was very reasonable at $26 with tea and a cheeky carrot cake. The restaurant is small but have a warm relaxed vibe If you are in Greenwich village def head to this place 😍😍😍

We were so impressed with the quality and the passion for food that we experienced last week at JL. Our waitress was such a quality person and she described the Saucisson nest of hash browns as 'to live for' - and she was correct. We had two orders. The Croque Madame was among the best I've ever had. The vibe was superb and I strongly recommend a visit when you're in the village. The location is ideal and the venue is charming from start to finish, including a genuinely welcoming staff. Thank you for making New York a little bit smaller and a lot friendlier.

Went here for a solo brunch last weekend. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs, which was delicious. The restaurant had a really nice and friendly vibe, and the staff were very friendly and chatty. It's a small place, and very popular. Would definitely recommend. I look forward to visiting again next time I'm in New York.

We sat by an open window on a particularly warm day in March. The restaurant was quiet when we got there about 8.30am as it was early but it was lovely and was filling up by the time we left. The waitress was really friendly and we were served quickly. The avocado toast with scrambled eggs was so delicious, I enjoyed every mouthful and the omelette my friend had she also raved about. The coffee was great too.so delicious food, lovely setting. Would definitely go back.

Visited with my adult son. Stumbled on this restaurant while prowling through west village area looking for decent brunch place which could also accommodate a vegan. Vegan Boy's avocado breakfast was excellent, and so was mine. Nice boho decor. The staff were very friendly and genuine, and there appeared to be a serious chef in the open kitchen. Best of all, the coffee was extremely good - a rare find for a couple of picky Australian coffee tragics! We returned on the following weekend, but unfortunately the entire place was chockers, and there are no outside tables or take-out coffees. Definitely worth a visit if you are in lower manhattan.

We had brunch here. The place was packed on the Sunday morning at around 11am. We were seated next to the counter, the food was great and the atmosphere was nice.

GREAT little restaurant in the heart of the village. Service was excellent ( thanks Lori), food wonderful and just a cozy little place. No NYC airs about it...

Went here on a Sunday morning and had a 2 person chicken and waffles platter....warning. It is HUGE!!! You can probably finish it for 3-4 people. I have to admit we did pretty decent damage with a petite gal and a big guy! Plus 2 Bloody Caesars! Yes. Get a Bloody Caesar! Delicious Bloody Mary while waiting for your meal! So back to this AMAZING platter. The fried chicken were the highlight with a honey glaze which is to die for!! WAY too many chicken wings on there but delicious none the less. Biscuits and decadent gravy with bacon pieces in there. Waffles. Eggs. French fries--yes fries for breakfast! Then all the sauces you can imagine....just be prepared and go with a healthy appetite!

Have read some other reviews about tourists not being made welcome.... let me just say on this matter .....CORRECT!... Tourists from the rest of the world - all 66 million of you .. (2019 prediction of visitors to NYC) try something different ... loads of much better local places than this one! I was staying in a rental property nearby... i really wish I hadn’t gone ... (restaurant not the rental house! That was great!!) I’m sure if they know you and you are willing to pay the extravagant prices .. or like the mock hipster trendy but pretentious vibe .. you buy cocktails.. expensive wine .. eat the average food ...tip big then go in under an hour and you are happy with such things, I’m sure they will be much more accommodating .... I bet you get full measures and big wine glasses!! Read on .... Arrived on time - unfriendliest of welcomes - ‘go wait over there by some suitcases’ your table is not quite ready ...incidentally the suitcase stack is in the way of the toilet - nice touch - nobody spoke to us again .. no drink offer ... nothing! It’s a really small space and it was roasting hot inside... maybe my teenage daughters put them off ... (No money to be made from 18yr olds who can’t drink!) I had this feeling in me that they would make us wait just long enough to get bored and leave! It was close .... Finally seated - waitress was relatively disinterested.. taking lots of time with what appeared to be locals ... but hurriedly took our drinks and food order ... quick turnaround on this one... rotate the tables thing I’d suggest as only a few... Finally when the wine arrived - short measures .. in fairness she did acknowledge this - sadly had to be reminded after 10 mins that we had only got half glasses ... for 18 dollars a glass!! Well a half glass ....And not even the big luxury locals glasses (yes I noticed) just regular crappy value ones! ...tables crammed in - some say cosy .. I don’t... I say cramped .. you are literally back to the wall or someone else and if you are really lucky against a heating pipe ... saves on hot stone therapy I suppose... Food was uninspiring - pâté was average - duck was not rested enough and chewy .. scallops looked good - Roast chicken was nice but not good value at $30...the prices did not match the quality or execution... really small portions and to be honest the bad value was making things so much worse! which is sad because this place was recommended to us by a local we are staying with... we almost got up and left after the short measures incident ... go with your gut I’d say!... (lesson to myself! I review a lot of places so this acts as a journal and an ever growing list of life lessons ... So far I have - 1. Never run 2. Do what feels right 3. Don’t use glass chopping boards 4. Crazy golf is neither crazy or golf .... Anyway - they couldn’t wait to see us gone! (I felt!) not even an hour in there and $250 down ... would never go back nor recommend... read the reviews other people have left about how they treat tourists! Plenty of other places ... I hope one day when the locals get fed up or a newer better value friendlier place becomes the place to go... or beards and kale go out of fashion ...you read reviews such as this one and realise where it all went wrong ... and trust me - it usually always does! I was torn between 1 or 2 stars .. look it’s not awful by any means ... but my experience was poor ... but this was a close 1 star.... (for me!) I was glad to leave ... and no ... I didn’t leave the discretionary (but not really!) tip - far from it ... (no tip rants today!) and by the way we were exited - I’m sure they knew it. Be better! Or don’t - I don’t care ... Oh and how do you know someone is a vegan ??? They tell you...

One of several smaller, neighborhood restaurants owned by a few young men from Wisconsin (?). The food is delicious, prepared with a twist and great with a cold beer.

We stumbled across Joseph Leonard for breakfast: but I'm delighted that we did. It was fantastic. Casual but attentive service, the best coffee I have found in New York, and outstanding food. Both of us had the avocado and eggs: the poached eggs were cooked to perfection, seasoning was bang-on, the salad - which could easily have been an after-thought - was wonderfully dressed. In short, there was great attention to detail, in a lovely environment. Highly recommended.

We have been here several times, usually late at night where it is lively and fun but not too loud to enjoy. It's in a small, quaint space with lots of large windows and a romantic feel. Nice Village feel to dining. Staff is young and very friendly. Food is very good, but is priced a bit too high relative to NYC pricing.

What a absolutely delightful restaurant. Everything was without fault from the friendliness of the staff, the quaint decor and the perfect food. Get there early to make sure you can get a table as they don't take reservations but it is without doubt and absolute must!

Warm ambiance, excellent food, wonderful service. Nestled on the corner of Grove and Waverly in the West Village, Joseph Leonard offers a warm and rustic environment with traditional American food. The restaurant/bar is pretty small, but it's very cozy. We visited for New Year's Eve 2015. I can't express enough appreciation to the staff for their great service and attention to detail. We loved everything, but I can say with confidence that they offer the best roasted chicken I've ever eaten. If it were up to me, I would crown Joseph Leonard the coziest restaurant in New York. Check it out! Cheers.

We we're recommend this little restaurant by the concierge at our hotel. We had lunch here the last day during our visit. If we had discovered this charming place before we would have been there for lunch every day. It it difficult to describe, just have to visit and experience for yourself. The little restaurant was very rustic, history carved into the wall, trendy, extremely good service and friendly outgoing staff. One review said that the staff seemed to like their jobb, exactly my thought. They took pride in their jobb and it shined through to all visitors. And the food.....First class excellence! Just amazing! I do my research well before I travel, this might be the best place I have ever visited.

Shaun was our server, he was friendly and efficient, the food was great in fact the best we have had in New York. Don't miss this little piece of heaven

My niece was in town visiting us for a day, so we decided to have an early breakfast to start our day. I googled breakfast cafes with high ratings and Joseph Leonard was shining on top of the list! Soon enough we reached there. The outside was nice and country flowers setting on the corner. Walking inside, the place wasn't large or roomy at all. It barely hold 25 guests with few bar stools. But for the small size outfit th3 ambience gave a nice cool country feeling. The place was clean, the service was prompt. Again I ordered few additional dishes. All dishes were marvelous and full of flavor. The prices were within budget. Highly recommended.

Nice food though from a very limited menu. Average service: the guy at the bar was awesome, the chick serving was below average and gave us the bill straight after the main while we were intending to have dessert and coffee...we ended up somewhere else friendlier.

An excellent recommendation from you. A really cool vintage space. I went with my family and we loved the new American cuisine. The menu is short but sophisticated. The service was friendly. I recommend

Come with a friend and when passing by we have discovered thia place with a Friendly staff. Very very welcomer. The burguer was great!! They have wifi wich is a must nowadays. Come and have a try.

Visiting NYC with 2 girlfriends. This restaurant was recommended by our hotel concierge. We popped in for a late breakfast/lunch and loved the ambiance and food. French press coffee, egg croissant, and brussels - yum! The staff really seemed to be enjoying each other and their jobs, which is always a perk. Highly recommend

We came to this place by chance and it was a very pleasant find. The staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and more important, competent. They take care of the customer from the first to the last moment with a very personal touch. The place is small but this makes it cozier. The menu is not proposing many choices but quality of the food is really good as well as the wine selection. Definitively suggested for a pleasant evening.

Highly recommend Joseph Leonard! A quiet, quaint spot to relax and have a lovely snack or meal. We were there at lunch... and can't speak highly enough about the chicken liver! We ordered a second it was so good! The staff was very kind and attentive. If you are in the Village it's in a great place and easy to find.

This place is so cute! I love the decor! It is very small, so be prepared to be crammed in (my major dislike) but the food was so good! It was a tad overpriced. Our server was fabulous. Overall, we really enjoyed it!

Yes yes yes my intro to the West village. Seagull salon and Joseph Leonard. Can't be beat. They made me my own signature cocktail.

Food and service here were great. My friend did not like her drink and the server "helped" her with it twice and never got upset. The food all of us had was delicious. It had a nice atmosphere. Everyone was friendly. Food was served looking so pleasing to the palate and then the taste was nothing less than what I had hoped for. Great little place to stop.

what a super corner of the villiage. amazing food and delish drinks make this hole in the wall with super friendly service a must stop. brunch and or dinner are always a super event at J Leonard. fried bacon is killer as is the burger. so much fun...

The food at the restaurant was "fair," and the prices were rather high. I did not feel that it was worth the expense. There are a number of very good restaurants in the area (of the same owner) which are much better.

Awwww this place is cute, small, cosy cosy cosy... with a chatty happy atmosphere. Service is attentive and the team are really friendly. The brunch menu is delicious and covering a solid range of brunch goodies. However the star was the A-MAZING Bloody Mary. This is not a problem for me but I'll comment on it as this demonstrates the great friendly service.... the restaurant was packed and my Bloody Mary was a little slow. They attentively team advices it's coming and then a few minute later delivered the delicious cocktail and advised it was on the house (due to it being a little slow in arriving). It was a little slow, that's a fact BUT absolutely worth the wait. The focus here in this last comment is not about the slightly slow arrival on the cocktail but instead on how good it was and the excellent attentive caring service. Nice place.

The location is superb, in the heart of the Village, across from the Stonewall Inn. The sister restaurant is on the next block. The brunch menu is simple with a small but fine amount of choices. We dined in the enclosed sidewalk seating, on a glorious Sunday. Fried chicken sandwich was awesome- and wonderful fries as well. Nice bar selection, and a perfect omelette preparation as well.

I don't think I have ever raved about a breakfast before, ever, but this was the most fantastic breakfast I have ever had and I think it was the Brussels sprouts "what done it"! They were to die for! I can't eat eggs so you'll see from the photo that I substituted eggs for salmon with my avocado toast. It was excellent. I had "drip" coffee. I had no idea that meant it was filter, it was excellent! The service was brilliant, no one rushed us and the prices were great. I wish I lived here as if so this would be my go to place. Enjoy!

Thank you Luis, our night at your place was fantastic. You're great host, and a amazing chef. Authentic NYC's spirit experience.

My wife had visited this small corner restaurant on a previous trip and had raved ever since. So this time we visited for brunch with another couple. We went early and stood in line as they only have one 4 top. The bloody Ceasar cocktail was awesome. The eggs Benedict was to die for as was the pulled pork sandwich. I had the egg sandwich served on a delicious croissant served with sliced Brussels sprouts sautéed and sprinkled with sriracha sauce. Very good. The waitstaff is friendly and fun. All in all a great time in an unique setting! We'll be back!

We were visiting from Edinburgh, UK and we asked several local people to recommend us a restaurant with a great Greenwich Village atmosphere. So, that’s how we ended up at Joseph Leonard at 6 o’clock on a cold mid-week February evening. It was already filling up and so we were delighted to be given the last table-for-two still available. The restaurant is small, warm and cosy with the tables very close together – a real “bistro” style. It seemed a really “happening”(!) place and so it looked like we were set for a special evening. But one hour later we found ourselves back on the street. Why? Because we were rushed! We think the head waitress had decided that she wanted our table back ASAP for her regulars - and she did a mighty fine job! We watched neighbouring tables of locals chatting with each other and to the staff, taking their time over aperitifs and appetisers whilst perusing their menus at leisure. We, on the other hand, were assaulted with repeated requests of “are you ready to order yet?” Each time I asked for “a little while longer” it can’t have been co-incidental that a different waiter would seem to almost immediately materialise with the same question….it got so obvious, we were giggling wondering what would happen next!...and it was the same story with the dessert menu! Being afflicted with British reserve and not wanting to argue the toss with the management on our special anniversary trip, we decided that the evening was past saving and we decided to skip coffee! – This was just as well, as the bill was deposited on our table with indecent haste - before we had even asked for it! We'll never forget our (early) evening at Joseph Leonard's! We still laugh about it now! We have been trying to fathom why we were so singled out for this treatment? We told them when we arrived that we were visiting Brits celebrating our anniversary - so they knew we would want to linger - just a bit(!). We can only assume that they saw us as tourists who could be moved along with impunity. Leaving all of the above aside, I’m afraid we found the food disappointing. One might have thought that the limited choices on offer for each course (and the prices) might point to some sort of culinary excellence, but it did not - My wife’s duck was tough and tasteless and my roast beef was just average and uninspiring. Both main courses arrived served on stone-cold plates and had cooled-down substantially by the time they arrived at our table. I would say that this was the sort of fare that one might get at a British pub looking to move it’s bar food up-market a little – but failing! With aperitifs, wine and the trimmings, a meal-for-two could easily be in the $200-plus range – For that I think it is over-priced – we certainly got much better value and choice in other similarly priced (and cheaper) NYC restaurants this trip. I would say it’s the customers who make this place so popular and JL's is lucky to have them! It really IS a local favourite! The atmosphere WAS good and there was a queue outside to get in when we left (in mid-week!). We just weren’t allowed to feel part of it. Sorry!

I didn't feel like there was much to choose from on the menu, but the pickles and salt on the table were awesome!!!

Typical menu items with a twist that has the potential of taking it up a level. Although we enjoyed sipping on perfectly, thick and spicy Bloody Marys while we waited and watched hearty plates of bird's nest hashbrowns and poached eggs on smoked salmon pass by, we were somewhat disappointed with the actual flavor of our food. My brioche french toast with apples sounds good, even looked good as I cut into the thick, custardy bread. But unfortunately, it seemed the oven must have been too hot. While the insides remained almost pudding like, the overdone crust needed to be covered up with the chintzy amount of apples they had delicately displayed on top. I was able to wash down the overwhelming meaty flavor of a bite of their homemade sausage with my own personal, fresh pot of french press coffee they serve. I would be willing to go back and try a side of their country fried bacon and cheesy grits, with a bowl of their seasonal fresh fruit that consisted of a healthy portion of berries. We'll see.

Looking for a restaurant walking distant from a concert venue, I learned about Joseph Leonard. It is one of those great neighborhood-y haunts open practically all day for drinks + but with fixed meal times. We had terrific food -- for appetizers, ROMANESCO CAULIFLOWER with sauce gribiche, lemon, herbs; FRIED GREEN TOMATO with caesar dressing and parmesan; and a super squash and leek soup. One of us had the special -- mussels with pommes frites, in an IGA-infused sauce, while the other two had BRANZINO fileted with gigante beans, grilled romaine, fresno chili. Excellent espresso served here. No time to sample the desserts

In NYC for a long weekend and went for Sunday brunch on a recommendation from a friend. Great decision. We were lucky enough to sit at the chef's counter and had a fantastic time. Superb food, really friendly staff and, of course, the bloody mary with the beer chaser. Highly recommended

Tried this place for brunch today. Fabulous egg sandwich, french toast, and some bacon snack I don't remember the name of... :) My wife liked her French Press coffee too, though I don't drink coffee and can't comment directly. We will be returning tomorrow for an encore before we have to leave town.

We went to brunch on Easter Sunday and arrived early so there was no wait. We sat at one of the two ti-covered bars and enjoyed conversing with the amiable bartenders throughout our meal. They were able to make a Virgin Mary (very spicy) and have 3 other versions, one including a bacon-wrapped brussels sprout. My grits (not instant) and shrimp (tiny and fresh) were great, and my husband's eggs benedict included several huge pieces of lox. We also loved the decadent chicken-fired bacon (3 large strips), and wished we had room for dessert. OJ may not have been fresh-squeezed, but coffee and espresso was great.

Having read such good reviews we went last saturday the 6th June for brunch and was told to wait as the very small table for 3 had to have 3 people on it not 2 and then another 2 very

When my boyfriend and I visited New York in March, we had our favourite breakfast here. We hadn't booked a table and pitched up on a Sunday morning, we were so lucky to get a seat at the counter overlooking the kitchen. The food is unreal and they had the biggest sausages we'd ever seen. The atmosphere is spot on and I couldn't recommend this restaurant more.

Small, delicious corner cafe in the West Village - excellent place for a quick breakfast, notably with outstanding avocado toast with poached eggs. Fast service, great food, everything you might be asking for

Near Sheridan Sq and clearly a neighborhood favorite, this little restaurant is a welcoming place with a good breakfast/brunch menu.

Met a good friend here for brunch and loved it. We took up in a tiny corner of this small place and never felt crowded or rushed. With an excellent Bloody Mary (beer chaser included) and grand Eggs Sardu, this was a perfect place to catch up (we talked for hours and could easily hear each other in this crowded place) and then walk the magical surrounding neighborhoods. Cheers to our great server too.

I went for brunch with a friend it was a line outside. We decided to wait was 30 min. The food was good but nothing like to come back again. The coffee witch is advertised like very good not so good for me. The waitress was very nice. I really would not go again there.

Stumbled upon this little cozy gem in the west village for breakfast on a cold Sunday morning. We honestly stopped in because we were cold and they were open. What a delight! We sat at the bar, I had a sausage, fried egg with hash browns. The hash browns were to die for, thinly shredded, crispy outside with a dollop of cream fraish topped with arugula. YUM! My boyfriend had the avocado toast with over easy eggs. Cocktails were available, mimosas & bloody Mary's, wine, etc.. The juice was fresh, the coffee was french press at the table. So lucky to have stumbled upon this fab little spot. Delish delish!

I ate dinner here with some college buddies. Enjoyed everything about it! The duck was particularly delicious and they make great drinks.

A terrific cozy west village bistro, one of 5 or 6 related places mostly in the west village like Perla.

While the tables are a tight squeeze, it makes for a cozy breakfast. The restaurant is charming and the coffee good. I had the avocado toast, which came with eggs and a salad, and was a great start to my day. I ate some of my husband's country fried steak, which had a really nice kick to it (definitely some hot sauce on there). Service was extremely friendly. I'd definitely reutrn.

I've read some pretty bad reviews about the place but happened to be with a friend for lunch and had a delicious meal. I find it a little pricey though (37 $ for a steak +tax+tip) and what I didn't like was the noise as the place is very cramped and too many people talking all at once made it hard to have proper conversation. I would look for quieter places if i were you!

Started off with a delicious "Beet the System' (vodka, beets, lemon, rosemary, ginger), followed by some wonderful appetizers, followed by a cooked to perfection salmon. We didn't have room for dessert, however, a small (absolutely delicious) salted caramel dessert was sent over by the fantastic staff.

I went to Joseph Leonard with two other friends and we sat at the small bar. It was a Saturday night after 11 pm when we arrived. We had a few drinks and ordered the salted caramel pudding dessert. One of the best caramel desserts that I have tasted and a large enough size for sharing. It was so light and airy surprisingly for a rich dessert. Next time I'm coming back for dinner! For a casual late night for a drink in the neighborhood, I found the place to be perfect for great drinks and dessert.

We arrived at 11pm and were served spectacularly delicious food. The place was atmospheric and the wait staff attentive and lovely.

The food is continually delish. They do not deviate too much from what works... and personally I find that amazing. I live close by and it is wonderful to walk in and know that every dish will be tasty. Simple and clean food yet the spices and flavors add a layer of complexity that is just enough for an amateur foodie such as myself. Most importantly - the staff is simply the best in Manhattan. In this small space there are probably 4-6 bartenders/waiters/front of house staff on any given night. They all work together seamlessly and always with a smile - a genuine smile - something that only comes from enjoying one's work on some level. I wont call at any specific names... but my girlfriend and I have become true friends with multiple staff members. They ensure that from the moment we hang up our coats to the time we leave that we are treated like family. Yes, it is a played out phrase ("treated like family") but it is so true in this situation. Nothing is missed and if there are any issues at all, they are anticipated and fixed immediately. Conversations with the bartenders and waiters/waitresses are natural and fluid...and truly enjoyable. It can be hard to find truly good people in this city, let alone truly good restaurant folks. And then finding all the other elements to make a food joint special? Forget about it. And yet... somehow, Joseph Leonard's has found the magic: good food, good atmosphere, great location, and the people to bring all of the ingredients to life. The perfect way to sum up this place? The whole is greater than the sum of its part. Highly, highly recommended. Go!

went 3 times on our holiday because they make delicious and healthy (although very big if you're British) breakfasts. Service was great, and it's a cute small but comfortable place to eat. Thank you.

I came here with my husband and another couple during our recent trip to NYC at a friend's recommendation, and we really enjoyed ourselves. The resto doesn't take reservations, so we were lucky to find a table for four when we arrived (pretty early - 6:30 or so). The place is super tiny (maybe 20-25 seats?) and really cozy - not sure how it'd fare in the summer, but we were comfy in the winter. The food was good - we ordered the cauliflower to share at the waitress's recommendation, and it didn't disappoint. She also treated us to the brussels sprouts, which were a bit spicy for my taste but still good. I had the lamb meatballs, which another patron was raving about - I enjoyed them but might try something else next time. We also got the NY strip (a bit more cooked than the medium rare we asked for but still good) and two duck specials - really excellent. The cocktails and wine were great. The service was very friendly, and we were happy to have tried this place. Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this place. It's tiny and fills up fast it. It has a quaint vibe - feels like a local neighborhood type of place, and the food is really good. I highly recommend the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. And even more highly recommend the hashbrowns, probably the best hashbrowns I’ve ever had – they come prepared as weave of thinly shaved potatoes perfectly fried. Go here.

We were visitors to New York and had been looking for a small local restaurant and this was perfect. It was packed with locals and there was a really buzzing atmosphere. The food was simple but delicious. I loved the fact that they concentrated on seasonal products with a fairly small menu which meant everything that arrived was very well executed. We had the kale salad, New York strip beef and the pork, all perfect. The recommended wine was excellent and the staff were laid back and friendly. We stayed for hours as it was such a comfortable place to sit and eat some good food and have a long chat - romantic or what?!

We stayed at the Washington Square Hotel and wandered into this quaint restaurant for lunch. We can still taste the lightest hash brown we have ever eaten, not to mention the fantastic omelet, and onion cheese toast! Creative menu, fabulous food, polite staff, and great music playing overhead. Highly recommended!

Located in the bohemian greenwich village, this small cafe offers a perfect breakfast. It is pricy. For an avocado egg toast, egg sandwich, latte and an americano we paid approx. 45 dollars. Yet, it worths it. We went there on tuesday around 10.00 am and found a place immediately. However, it can be very crowded on sunday-saturday.

we found this place by chance. What a great place to drink and eat. The staff were so friendly. So we ended up going in a couple of times. If you fancy a chilled out couple of hours then I would definitely recommend this place.

I liked this place.. but I'm not sure why they are so crowded all the time. the food was average. And the menu nothing to write home about. The drinks were OK. If I feel like I spent more than it deserved, that means I didn't enjoy it so much. Wouldn't highly recommend but it's ok.

I keep going back there every time a friend visits me in NY. They have a great cheeseburger and very good beers. It's a cute small place and the waiters are always super nice. And I'll go back there again. A friend of mine once ordered the chicken salad (which was $17) and it was very small and without much chicken so I'd stay clear of that dish. BUT they were really nice about it and replaced it with a dish she liked free of charge. Great experience.

Went there based on good reviews for lunch and found the food unremarkable. I had the pork confit with apple frisee sounds good. However there was a few small pieces of flavorless pork, if there was dressing I didn't taste any. My husband had the double cheeseburger. The cheese tasted like Velveeta cheese sauce. He had a beer and I had a glass of wine. Our bill came to $70. On the positive side the service was nice and the restaurant was cozy and attractive.

Even this brunch may queue you in the line for few minutes, please wait cuz it is worthy. The space is quite cozy for either New Yorker or Traveller, order brunch here makes your day started with delights, personally suggest to have fruit platter as you won't want to miss it.

I had the pleasure of eating at Joseph Leonard's the other day. I love the nostalgic setting, the food was fantastic. I had the soldiers and eggs, a dish I had not had since I was a kid. I highly recommend it!

Really amazing meal at Joseph Leonard. Great Kolsh on draft. Dishes were tremendous. Roasted cauliflower appetizer was great. Berkshire pork chop entree was honestly one of the best pork chops i've ever eaten anywhere. Great crust, moist inside, perfectly cooked, amazing corn and bacon relish...really perfection. The table shared both desserts (carrot cake and butterscotch mousse in a jar) Plus, the service was knowledgable and friendly. Great night out. Our first time here....we'll be back.

We went here for drinks on a Saturday night. The ambience is nice, the staff is friendly. Try the Old Fashioned here. One of my favorite cocktails at this place

Had tomato soup and then a burger. Neither was worth noting. Tomato soup was bland and there was no offer of ground pepper. No salt and pepper on the table at all. The table was nice and service was ok but nothing was awe inspiring. Small menu with limited oprions. I dont get it. If you have three first course options and one is soup shouldn't it be special????

Went there for dinner and was able to get a table without waiting. It's so small and charming inside. My husband and I over-ordered but it was worth every bite. Every dish we ordered was incredible! Highly recommend ordering the cheese plate and both fish dishes (the Brook Trout was big enough for 2!) My absolute new favorite restaurant in NYC.

Can't speak for this place in the evening but for breakfast it is perfect, great tea (as an Englishman that's important) and lovely breakfast and atmosphere. Highly recommended as a break from the rush of NYC - oh, and free wifi

Probably the best cafe we visited in NY for breakfast/brunch options. Lovely setting and delicious menu.

We met with two local friends at JL for dinner. As we made areservation for 4p and number four was delayed, we had to wait at the bar, altho our table was just behind us waiting. Drinks at the bar were great tho, we choose from the specials and the drinks were creative and tasty. Once seated we enjoyed very fresh food. My oartner had oysters and was delighted about the freshness and the size! My NY steak was perfectly cooked and a big chunk of meat! Overall a great experience, but quite pushy waiters trying to make most use of the table for a second seating, which put us of a bit.

4 people with a lot of suitcases were warmly welcomed in this small restaurant. We had 2 breakfasts (2 pm) and very fresh oysters with good cava - yam! Can highly recomend.

We were in Greenwich Village and stopped for late lunch here. Food was excellent, staff friendly and atmosphere relaxed. It's open morning till night so excellent if, like us, a little jet lag shifts mealtimes away from the usual. Small unusual venue, decor eclectic well placed in the village, food excellent. Happy to recommend.

Loved this place. Great lunch menu, wish I got the croque madame(my friend did it looked amazing) good vibe there too.

We didn’t have a reservation But got seats at the bar. Lots of fun talking to Sonny the bartender and the food was excellent!

Excellent. Very original ratatouille with very fine taste. Service as usual in the USA. A second dessert offered after the compliments on the main course.

the house $10 an egg for devil egg!? golden goose is Gabriel the chef who charges $10 for one deviled egg plus tax and tip! because it is the village the server said! limited menu. there is a section hour between lunch and dinner. the service is great. the décor makes shabby chic like it has been gone with the wind!

Friends and I were waking in the village and stumbled upon this bistro. Wow what a find. Great food and service. Get there early as it tends to fill up.

Went here on Boxing Day (26th Dec) for brunch. Great vibe, lovely food and bloody Marys. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich which was excellent. The Wisconsin owner gave free beer with the Bloody Mary - Wisconsin tradition apparently and the bar man was a dream! Highly recommend and we will definitely come back next time!

We ate here on a busy Friday night and absolutely loved it. The food was fantastic and the service excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and was extremely tender. We would certainly return the next time we are in New York.

The small restaurant has a romantic and cozy air, but the quality and quantity of the dishes offered is decidedly low. I wouldn't go back.

Stopped by here on a very rainy Saturday night on a whim without a reservation. The only searing that was available was at the bar, which we took without hesitation. Once seated though, I realized quickly that it was going to be way to cramped for me to enjoy my meal. We decided to leave and told Megan, the hostess who had seated us. She easily convinced us to say and seated us at the other end of the bar with ample room. The meal we were about to experience was more than amazing; and the staff was right on top of everything. We had a great time and the food and cocktails were beyond!! Thanks Megan and staff!! We will definitely return when we visit the village again!!

We watched this restaurant come to life many years back. Since then it had been a part of our life. Always welcoming and accommodating even as the staff changed. Great bartenders. The menu is inspired and delicious. The salted caramel pudding is still unbelievable. The view to the street is always fun. Situated on an active triangle there are always crowds of people gathering and passing through. The location adds to the magic. This is an intimate neighborhood within a tourist destination. Gave also has a more casual restaurant called Jeffrey's Grocery across the street.

Without some hard rock blasting in our ears! How can you think about playing music that loud in such a small dining room? We are not old and grumpy, we like to talk to each other too when we share great food in a really cute setting I would have given five stars for the delicious dinner you prepared for us and the good friendly service Since some reviewers called your place cozy, maybe we visited you on the wrong night when the manager decided to party with the few intoxicated at the bar!

This is our favorite little restaurant when we are in the city. Our family of four had another outstanding breakfast yesterday at Joseph Leonard. We started the experience with a round of cilantro infused bloody mary's which are quite tasty. The bloodies come with a small beer chaser which wasn't necessary but we always appreciate the attitude. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the chicken and biscuits/chicken sandwich and declared it the best thing on the menu. They were wrong. The best thing on the menu yesterday was my dish. A delicious pork belly, cheese grits, poached egg creation that was to die for. Joseph Leonard does not take reservations so prepare for a short wait. It will be worth it.

We loved this restaurant. We tried it on Saturday and went back on Sunday as well. The food was excellent and we loved the atmosphere. It was bright and airy. The service was friendly and fast. I would highly recommend the Monkey Bread. It was a big plate for one person so we split it. It was the best! We also liked that we could get a large french press and split it. I will definitely go back next time we visit NYC.

After a long day with a mere hot dog for lunch, we were desperate for food. It was an unseasonably warm night in February, and everyone was on the town. We stumbled onto Joseph Leonard and were told there'd be an hour wait. When we looked like we were going to cry, the wonderful maitre d' took pity on us, told us to take a seat in the foyer, and said he'd "see what he could do." Ten minutes later we were seated at the bar, where we feasted on the apple and endive salad, the pate, steak frites, and a spatzele dish. The bartender became our new best friend. Our fellow barmates were equally friendly; it was just that kind of place - everyone happy to be there. It would be worth making a reservation since it is so tiny (maybe seven tables?) and then you wouldn't be dependent on the kindness of the maitre d'.

Cool and funky, great location, delicious food, nice friendly staff, amazing atmosphere. 100% recommended.

We stumbled upon this cute and small food joint. While entering it seemed a little crowded but the servers where great in accommodating us. Went for a classic order, double cheeseburger and chicken. When the food arrived and we started working on it we were blown away. It was DELICIOUS!! I have to say that they prepared the best chicken I have ever had. The portions of the food are big, you will be satisfied. Even though the restaurant is on a higher end price wise it is worth it! Would recommend it!

Love it, Live it. It's cool and if you aren't, stay out. Cocktails by the hostess while you wait for your personally quaint experience. Tartare, lumberjack cocktails, lamb meatballs and orgasmic chicken. Strong work and a name worthy of Wisco. "When you say, Joseph Leonard, you've said it all."

Small cosy cafe for excellent healthy breakfast. I had an omelette with broccoli goat cheese which tasted great. Can recommend this place.

This restaurant was a discovery ! The food is excellent, well nestled near West village. People everywhere (around the bar, more classically seated around a table or everywhere else possible !). We were lucky enough to be seated between the bar and the kitchen, which is a strategic place to get service from ... everywhere !!! The food is excellent. We advise you to taste the carrot cake ! As we say in France : "allez-y les yeux fermés". Walk-in only as far as we know.

Spectacularly good food in a quaint west village venue. The saucissons breakfast may have been the best breakfast I've eaten in a restaurant. Perfectly cooked without being greasy or too heavy. The ambience is so lovely in this small space. If you have the luxury of spending a few morning hours on a weekday in NYC with a close friend or even by yourself, this is where you should spend it. Omelet of the day was also incredibly fresh and impeccably cooked. Staff were friendly, relaxed and enhanced our experience. I am celiac and both the saucissons and omelet were gluten-free.

Absolutely wonderful. Went for New Years Eve and the service, dinner, and ambience were all spectacular! Thank you for an incredible evening.

This is a very small bar/restaurant. There were four of us and it appeared they only had one table to fit four people so we had to wait. However, the staff were very nice so the waiting was not too bad and, overall, service was outstanding. The restaurant has a fairly short menu and all the food we had was good. I had lamb meatballs which were tasty and there was plenty of it. We also had a bottle of their cheaper win; a Spanish wine at $60 a bottle. However, the wine was very good and decent value for the quality. The main drawback and why I marked the restaurant down to 'average' was that it was very noisy. As such, it was hard to have a conversation and hear what was being said.

Located in West Village. It is small restaurant, which was full of locals with a great atmosphere - on Monday night, which says a lot! Mains around $30 and although not a huge choice it was all freshly cooked and very tasty!

Lovely small restaurant with friendly staff and a great menu. I ordered the steak-frites: the steak was excellent! Good fries as well. My wife had the chicken: Very good too! Would definitely recommend 👍

Joe Leonard Restaurant in the West Village may be the smallest full-menu restaurant in NYC. It certainly is the smallest I have ever eaten in. But, don't let the size fool you. The place is big on flavor and excellent service. We sat at the only four-seat table in the place. If there was another, I missed it. The remaining tables sat only two people. There is also a small bar. The kitchen is open for the patrons to see the cooks at work, but, quite honestly, we were too busy talking. For a small place there was quite a din from the ongoing conversations! Twelve appetizers grace the menu from $4 to $22. We ordered the hummus with anchovies and flat bread. Excellent! There was enough for the four of us. We also had the cavatelli with sweet peas and toasted garlic for $17. Also very good. There are seven entrees on the menu including chicken, fish, a double cheeseburger and an omelette (from $17 to $37). Three of us ordered the bluefish with summer squash, green beans, cherry tomatoes and basil aioli for $23. My other friend had the cod a la jardiniere with broccoli, carrots, turnips and jasmine rice at $28. Both were excellent! Additional sides of veggies or potatoes will run you $7 to $9 more. Several desserts can be had. Wines by the glass cost $12 to $17, cocktails $11 to $15 and a few draft beers run $4 to $9. I thought the restaurant was a little expensive, but the food was top notch and our waitress was very attentive. Despite the size of the restaurant, the staff did not hurry us out, which enabled us to have a leisurely 2+ hour dinner! Tax and tip for four came to $344 (we had a couple of drinks!). Remember: the place is a little cramped so don't bring a large entourage!

One of the hip places in the Village, it can get super packed so better make a reservation in advance. It is tiny but very cosy and the staff also makes you feel at home. The menu is a combination of meat and veggies, it sounds pretty straightforward (salad, chicken...) but they really know how to prepare food! The wine list is also pretty basic but surely you will find something that goes your way. The prices, it's NYC so...

They arranged us according to our group with such kindness. Great food, excellent service. Typical American joint. Good guys we had a great time

Recently spent some time in the west village and was looking for a Sunday lunch spot that did not solely serve brunch. Had heard about the Chicken sandwich at Joseph Leonard and decided to give it a try. Walked in and immediately found seats at the bar. Place was packed, and humming with conversation and awesome tunes playing over the crowd. Bar was small, bartender was mixing at a furious pace. Menus presented shortly after arrival, drink orders taken. Food came out a bit slower than anticipated but was delicious. Fresh ingredients, chicken fried to a crispy but tender consistency. Companion had a salad of some sort, equally as delicious. The servers wore smiles the whole time besides being slammed. Great little spot for a quick bite. Reasonable prices, great food, good vibe. Cool place.

Stumbled upon this outstanding restaurant quite by accident and what a piece of good fortune it was. Our brunch was just superb. Although packed to the rafters the noise level was not intrusive. I could not visit New York again without returning to this delightful venue.

I got there late for an early dinner with 6 other friends. I loved the food, to be honest I can't remember what I ate besides the gnocchi but we shared quite a few appetizers and I remember thinking how outstanding every bite was. The thing that really stood out was the service. Sooooo accommodating about my late arrival, then there was a friend who arrived later than me and we had to try to source another chair to squeeze him in. There was no dramas from the staff at all. They were super friendly, attentive and helpful with everything. This is a cute place in a gorgeous location- highly recommend!

I understand there are queues for a table on weekends but I went early during the week and got a table straight away. The Cafe is full of character and the staff are very friendly and chatty. I had a delicious breakfast and good coffee which kept me sustained for most of the day. Highly recommend it.

Joseph Leonard is a tiny little enclave tucked away in Greenwich Village. It is very cozy and atmospheric with creative, high quality food and an excellent, fun, and personable staff. This is a place to spend a special evening. It's all good.

I'm not even sure where to start. I don't even smoke and need a cigarette after that meal. Hostess, wait staff, and chef were all absolutely top notch. If you are a party of two and can get the seats in the back to watch the brunch be prepared do it. It was fun to watch and very helpful in deciding what to eat. My heart probably hates me for eating the country bacon but it was incredible. Fried Chicken flavor meets bacon. Avacado toast (ordered as a side item) was tremendous. Shrimp and grits was perfectly prepared. The star of the show was the Salmon and Benedict. Here is another tip: try to get your life together before 11AM on a Sunday. I know, it can be challenging but the wait isn't that bad. Even if the wait is an hour, go for a stroll and grab a hot beverage nearby. I'm borderline ashamed of what I did to those plates.

A beautiful bandol.,,Octopus fra Diavolo...cod- artichoke, oyster mushroom, fingerling potato...little gem salad with a piece of Camembert... heavenly dinner. It’s perfect food. Not pretentious and not over served. This place is my go to

Cozy, quaint restaurant well worth visiting. Spent our Thanksgiving with Joseph Leonard and they truly made our holiday special. Fantastic bar - perhaps the best Old Fashioned I have ever had. Food was fresh, delicious and well presented. Service was excellent, warm and friendly. Highly recommend this restaurant. Right off 1 Train.

The pork shank was unreal. The Spanish rice has the crispy carmelized amazingness of Paellla. This place is a fantastic find. Everything we had was worth ordering again.

Looked nice from the outside, called in for a drink, empty bar, was told we could stand at the bar until some one who was eating wanted to be seated there.Ok I said, no problem, 2 minutes later we were moved to the side. Came back again to tell us we could stand there until someone who was eating came in, followed up a couple of minutes later with we are busy would you mind drinking up. Unbelievable. $24 for a beer and cocktail and the worst customer service ever received, if he had just been straight from the beginning and said, we wouldn't have bought a drink and just moved on. Don't be tempted to call in for just a drink unless you want to be treat like dog dirt.

Popped in here for a coffee, and then was tempted by their delicious looking breakfasts. Excellent coffee, delicious avocado and eggs and a lively friendly atmosphere. Excellent service - I enjoyed it so much I came back for a glass of wine (a very good Sauvignon) later in the day.

fabulous cosy bar/cafe with great atmosphere and street view. Staff were just lovely. Food was amazing quality. Omelette with French onion toast was spot on. Coffee was the best so far. Had a short 20 minute wait when we had a stroll around the lovely streets including the house from sex and the city ( we were tourists after all )!

We were sent there for dinner by recommendation from a New Yorker. The food was supposed to be great. No reservations though. On arrival at 21:00 it was crowded with drunk youth who looked barely above drinking age. They were all screaming like crazy. We went elsewhere.

This small place was right down the block from the apartment where we were staying. Over 3 days, we went twice; once for a late night drink along with some pate and a side of fries (we'd had a full meal earlier). The service could not have been more welcoming and warm! On the day that we left the city we stopped here for brunch. Two of us had the avocado toast (delicious!) and the other had an omelet. Food was great, and again, the service was wonderful. Our server from the first night recognized us and came over to say hi and to thank us for coming by again. He told us the staff is small and tight-knit and you could tell--they all seem to like where they work and this comes across in the way they treat their customers--very warmly and welcoming. I would definitely go again the next time I'm in NYC.

I popped in here for a quick lunch at the end of a business trip. Enjoyed everything about it! The plates are small but really delicious and nicely presented. Get the beet salad! Ulich provides excellent service and exuded a New York City friendliness that is hard to match. Will definitely go back.

Amazing staff. Perfect ambiance. Brunch: - Avocado toast with poached eggs - Bloody mary Dinner: - Kale salad - Brussel sprouts with sriacha Dessert: - Salted caramel pudding

As soon as you enter this small intimate eaterie you'll be a little mesmerised by the decor and the attention that the proprietors have put into creating this gorgeous shabby chic restaurant. We were visiting from the United Kingdom for 4 days and decided on Thanksgiving eve 2017 to start our day off in the Village so we grabbed a cab and travelled the 10 blocks from our hotel to this place as our choice of breakfast having seen so many good reviews on Trip Advisor about it. Sufficed to say we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was relaxed yet efficient and excellent. It's a cosy little place but not so cosy that you feel like you're sitting on top of the person next to you. If we didn't have to fly home the next day we'd have returned many times - in a way we were disappointed we didn't visit sooner. Beautiful and perfectly located so that you can start your day with a hearty breakfast and walk around (Greenwich) Village afterwards. Best (latte) coffee I had in NYC too while I was there!

Found this place on a recommendation. The staff were tremendously helpful (thanks Betty + Ross!) and were an absolute delight to chat to. The venue is cozy and very welcoming; beers were tasty. The food though; the food was delicious! Try their salted caramel pudding to top everything off - you won't regret it! 10/10 would recommend.

Had the omelette, delicious, highly recommended, had the eggs with avocado after that because I was so hungry I could have eaten a scabby horse between two mattresses! Friendly staff, worth a visit

I absolutely loved this place, great welcome, fantastic food and very nice staff. Lovely atmosphere and a charming place with a great buzz inside , good coffee and nice vibe. Visited this place on raining day and it was packed, but yet people were happy to stand and queue for their table as it was worth it, desfpitethe fact there are many places around the village to choose from. Loved the food, i had eggs and sausage dish and it was yummy, my friends had burgers and they were also awesome!

Loved this gorgeous rustic restaurant. It had such a warm friendly atmosphere. The food looked amazing & my nephew & l had already had lunch we had wine coffee & cake . The customer service was second to none . You could end up spending hours here just eating drinking & chilling out . Highly recommend a visit .

We visited on February 1, 2015 for brunch following a recommendation from a friend who lives in the city. Unfortunately we encountered the rudest hostess ever. I have no doubt the food would have been excellent. It's a small place so we were prepared to wait and were okay with that, but the hostess was so incredibly and unnecessarily rude to us that we left after our cocktail and went to the Waverly Inn instead, which was lovely and served us a terrific meal. Just out of principle I would never go to Joseph's again. There are so many wonderful places to eat and have a fantastic meal in NYC that there's no need to put up with being treated rudely. Just be nicer.
Great for brunch!
Went there for brunch, is a small place with excellent options for breakfast or brunch. The service is also great.
