17 of 213 Bars & Pubs in New York City

One of my go-to spots for lunch, happy hour and dinner. I've been coming here for years and it's always freaking great. The burgers, the salads, the sweet and spicy calamari, flatbread, everything is good! You won't be disappointed coming here any time of day!

It is a bar/ pub serving food, nice place, good food, friendly service, a bit noisy, not too pricey.

Joined up with friends after a long day of meetings. Very central location. The appetizer wings are to die for - so tasty. Lamb burger and fries were amazing. Cauliflower hummus was pasty and tasteless. Mississippi mud pie was not what we thought it would be - no ice cream in it. My latte was only warm and adequate. We had a booth way at the back and that worked so we could hear ourselves talk. Music got louder fast.

Lovely bar and restaurant. Courteous staff.. Extremely cozy. Decided to stop here before the Kanye West concert . I kept it light with the tuna tartare taco. Please be reminded tuna tartare is a raw dish- 3 small tacos that actually did the job.. Lightly dressed with an avocado marinade and a bit of chili. I really enjoyed this. I also tried the steak ceasar salad which I found the dressing was perfect. I always complain that ceasar dressing is sometimes heavily salted- not the case here. My friend tried the Mac n cheese rolls and the short rib as an entree.. He also enjoyed but could not finish.. I really wasn't a fan of the menu but it is simple and right to the point. If I had to make a change to the menu I would add the option to have the skirt steak as an entree option instead of just a wrap. However, I will return.

Met here for brunch on Sunday. Had the crab benedict! It was delicious! Just really enjoyed the atmosphere...was cozy and quiet for a NYC restaurant. Really liked the ambiance there too!

I was in New York City and needed to get a quick meal that was near my hotel. The Juniper Bar is conveniently located on 35th street in midtown. I had the Mahi Mahi Tacos. The service was quick, the food was good and the atmosphere was very nice. So if you are in the city and need to go to the theater or whatever, this is a nice place to eat.

I work near MSG and passed by Juniper a number of times before I tried it, I really enjoyed it. My favorite thing hands down were the lobster mac and cheese and the chicken wings. I know no why there is always crowd whenever I pass during lunch and after work.

Had dinner early before an event at MSG (very close walking distance). Sat up front on the raised bar stools at a small table. Service was good. Short ribs were excellent and wine and beer selection wide. Good experience.

My wife had the truffle burger and I the bourbon BBQ burger. We'd asked for them to be cooked rare and medium respectively and they were perfectly done. The flavours were amazing, one of the best burgers we've had to date. We also thought the service was perfect, our server was attentive without being annoying. A dj started his stint shortly after we arrived but we had no problem talking to each other as the volume was ok.

I really enjoyed the tuna tartar tacos and salmon salad, it was delicious. The service was good when you could stop a fast walking waiter or bartender but, then they were helpful and fast. The food was really fabulous.

The tuna tartare was fantastic and a generous portion size for an appetizer. The baby kale salad was also delicious and my waitress was attentive but not overtly. They had a drink special that drew me in but the food was the star. Nice ambiance, friendly owner that checked in with me...I will definitely be back!

had the flatbread and tater tots apps, delicious. Service was excellent, beautiful bar and friendly waitress. Champagne was ice cold!!

This is a great bar and close to where we staying, three blocks up. We had now realised that being from the UK and having had our currency value destroyed by the present government, we needed to seek out some happy hours. So here we were, between 4 and 7pm. Sat at the bar, there was a game on, ice hockey I think and the locals were wearing their shirts. Really good atmosphere and we were well looked after by Adam. Food was excellent and so were the drinks, we had a great night.

Great spot for lunch. Had the chicken sandwich and it was so delicious. Service was top notch and very friendly.

Decent pre-concert/venue bites seem hard to come by in this area, so this situationally is a fine pick. Service was friendly and the venue is well done. Friend and I did the shrimp and lobster tacos and we were both were satiated. The shrimp tacos were good, not great. If I go back, I'd get something else. Also, we got a side of ranch and they charged 50 cents which is pretty lame.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here before a concert. It has a very fun and lively atmosphere, interesting cocktails, delicious food and attentive service. The burger and fries were delicious as was the chicken. It is a bit noisy, but we were there at peak time. It is less loud in back where the tables are, but still hard to hear.

Watched Super Bowl here last week and had a great time in this little place next to our hotel. Food was good with a basic pub selection. Waitpersons were friendly and helpful. Big screens made the game up close and personal.

The food was really good - service was a little slow. In fact, we are going back today! Enjoy lobster sandwich, brussel sprouts, flat bread pizza and salads.

We were a group of about 35 business peers gathering for a corporate anniversary party. We were in a private lounge on the lower level with a large bar. Lots of various appetizers were passed around including sliders, crab cakes, shrimp rolls, skewered chicken, etc. Food was good, and space was very comfortable. Plenty of drinks as well. This venue is conveniently located only 4 blocks from Port Authority and Times Square. It's a few large blocks from the Javits Center which is where we came from. This was a very comfortable venue for this type of gathering. They also offer Happy Hour from 4-7. My wine was only $6.

Are here yesterday with a friend. Was pleasantly surprised how nice the inside is. It's not a typical pub it's more upscale. I had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and their truffle fries. The truffles fries and sauce were delicious as well as the salad. It wasn't loud in there where we had to scream a conversation. Would definitely recommend this place!

Met a few friends here for dinner--I didn't realize how packed it would be. Word to the wise--if you want an intimate dining experience, this might not be the place for you. It was lively and exciting but you couldn't really have a conversation without screaming. The service was on point--our server was attentive and never made us feel rushed. The food was okay--I was expecting a little more but still enjoyed it. I ordered the slider trio (one beef, one shrimp and one crabcake) and upgraded to the truffle fries. I can't say I totally understand the hype that I've read on some of the reviews. My food came out cold. Sliders were good, but very average. Fries were cold too and they didn't really taste any different than normal fries--however the dipping sauce that came with it was good. The drinks were good! I ordered the jalapeno cucumber margarita and it had a nice kick to it. All in all it was a pleasant experience but I don't know if the food/pricing/value was good enough to warrant a repeat visit.

Serve is rather poor, staff not listening, no knowledge about the products in the assortment. Pinot Noir I wouldn't order again, same for the 2 cocktails my wife ordered. Wouldn't recommend

Food is great, located near MSG. Drinks good. My fav place to go before a concert. Large portion sizes for the money.

Just popped in for a drink and snack before an event -- the bartender was very friendly, the drink was good and I tried the Yucca fries just because the accompanying dips sounded intriguing (pineapple peanut and spicy mango ketchup). Liked the sauces, but not so keen on the yucca fries :)

Brilliant service and incredible food. I had the steak tacos and I can't fault them. Others in our party had burgers and one had the salad but needless to say they were all absolutely beautiful.

I came with my husband for dinner and alcohol. The price is reasonable and the appetizer is excellent. Highly recommend the seafood spring rolls and the shrimp sliders!!! Very tasty.

Burgers, specials. They have wine as part of their happy hour. Woohoo! Their food is good, staff is attentive. When I go to games or concerts at MSG or Hammerstein I come here. It's not a young college crowd like the rest of the area.

Great food (we both had burgers with fries), very good beer and friendly waitress. The place was gorgeous and comfortable, we would surely return if we find ourselves in NYC again.

Busy spot, ate here last night before Billy Joel at the Garden. Servers were friendly and prompt, bus boys not so great. Lobster Mac & Cheese was good but a little lacking in flavor. I had the Fire Breathing Burger, the waitress recommended I get the sauce on the side which I did and was grateful for. I was good but the hottest thing I have ever eaten & I really enjoy spicy food.

Came here on a Saturday night for a couple of drinks. Was able to find a couple of seats at the bar. Very lively crowd and fun vibe. Great bartenders.

We popped into Juniper as we were out exploring the midtown area. It doesn’t stand apart from a typical NYC location when walking by but it certainly does once you head inside. Beautiful atmosphere and fantastic food. The waitstaff is atypical for NYC as they were all quite friendly. The fried chicken Ban Mi was ahh-mazing!!

Love this place for drinks and small plate dishes. Bar staff is friendly and makes you feel welcome. Happy hour prices even on a Saturday. Wow! A great place to stop before a night out in the city. Tried their burgers and love them...

Very average spot yo eat. Found that most items were too salted for me. Basically a place gurus to talk business, have a drink and eat fried foods8or burgers. It is convenient to business and has elevated dining area but primarily is a business bar.

Came here before a Rangers game. The bar was very busy so we decided to get a table. The service was very good and quick. Calamari is to die for!! Some of the best I ever had....but nothing compares to the Vietnamese wings! OMG! We also tried the sliders but they were nothing special. I will definitely come back.

We had reservations for four at 7p, which they accomodated us when entering. It was all of our first experience, and we all thought the decor was very nice, though it was pretty loud walking through the bar area to where we were seated (a little quieter in the back). Overall, the service was good, but they did give us our dinners just a few moments after our appetizers, which someone obviously botched (they did use multiple people to service us - a server and manager, plus runner/bussers) - though, the situation was rectified quickly, as we enjoyed eating our appetizers - good food all around, and dinner was served right after we completed the apps, which was as good, too. We all really enjoyed the meal, with no one having a complaint. We all definitley would come back to eat, as there are many interesting items throughout their menu to taste and hopefully enjoy as we did this time. Plus, we got to our event without an issue - prompt service and short walk make this a very good pre-event venue, as well if there wasn't an event to go to....

The staff was really kind and they manage to change our table once we had an infant with us. The place is a bit crowded and noisy, sometimes, but it really worth it. The food is so good and the price is totally fair for the location. We will get back!, for sure.

Came here before a Jason Aldean concert...sat at bar and had some apps with some friends. The Vietnamese wings are a must every time! Bacon mac and cheese are a little dry and would come with a cheese dipping sauce Caesar salad is always delicious and the pulled pork Mac and cheese was superb! Can’t wait for hockey season so I can come before games.

My partner and I stumbled across Juniper on the way back to our hotel. Absolutely loved this quirky bar. The amazing bar man, Alex, was so friendly, helpful, interesting and he totally knew his stuff! A credit to the place! We had an amazing evening chatting to him and 2 other members of staff. We didn't eat but the food looked amazing. Thoroughly recommend this bar

We had a lovely evening meal here. The food was excellent and they were showing football so my son was happy. It was the MLS but you cant have everything!!

Large, open space with good food and good service. Good cocktails, small wine list, creative food ideas. Quiet enough and relaxed - perfect for a busy day.

Juniper is around the corner from Penn Station. We stumbled across it while searching for a bite to eat. The truffle fries are delicious but try the lamb burger. Absolutely delicious! My friend had the short rib grilled cheese and she loved it. Service staff is friendly and very receptive and helpful.

Lets face it, Penn Station during rush hour is an experience no one likes. It's packed with people who just want to get home. My solution to this is happy hour. That's why I enjoy Juniper. It's become a mainstay of commuters who want an upscale, but reasonably priced, bar and restaurant near Penn Station. It's central location makes it ideal for meeting up with friends in Manhattan. They have a decent selection of craft beers and mixed drinks. The bartenders are friendly and accommodating, even with a crowded bar filled with us thirty corporate types. They also have an enjoyably strong pour. The food is great. I normally go with a burger but occasionally spring for the lobster Mac n cheese. Overall it's a great NYC happy hour place. I've made it a part of my commute home.

We had a reservation, yet manager JOSE asked us to move from table to table in the middle of our dinner, because he needed to seat more people in our area. This would be not the end of the world for us, yet he kept calling my friend “Babe” during the conversation. Then he was very rude during the whole process. We would not recommend this place, as it is crowded, loud and its management not up to the task.

The only reason this fun, classy watering hole did not get five stars was because service was a bit slow. The server was great but I suspect the kitchen was having issues. We all had burgers that were delicious and prepared as requested. Definitely worth the stop.

This was my second visit to Juniper and was my suggestion having visited previously with another friend. My previous visit was more favourable. It’s definitely easier visiting with just one friend. Our drinks came out faster (we had ordered cocktails) and it was definitely less hassle when splitting the bill. On my second visit, we did check when we came in that we could split the bill (as a party of 6). We were told yes, we could split it between 4 cards. We ordered our drinks and our food at the same time, 15 minutes or so after we had been seated. The drinks did take a while to arrive. Two wines, two cocktails and two beers. Our food wasn’t far behind. Myself and two others ordered the beef sliders. Cooked as requested (although my other two friends weren’t so lucky). We ordered second drinks after our food was served so the wait wouldn’t feel so long. The arrived pretty much as we were finishing up food. The complications then came when we paid. Our server had either finished or was on her break. So the person who gave us the cheque, told us we could only split the bill 3 ways. As we had already transferred funds across 4 cards, we did query this. She went to ask a manager and came back & said on this occasion, we could do 4 (despite our initial server saying 4 was fine?!) we paid, got up to leave and she came back and said we had to pay a further $20?! At this point, some of my friends were a little hacked off, we weren’t told what this $20 was for, but one just paid it for the ease of leaving. I would come back, as the food is decent and the happy hour looks like a good deal (haven’t yet made it there that early) - however, I will only come back as a group of 2/3 as it is definitely easier with fewer people! (Photos attached are from both of my visits)

When first walking in I was a bit taken aback by the loudness, because I was there to catch up with a friend and conversation was in order. But the back of the room is quiteter and when the food arrived it all fell into place. Great flatbread and burgers. Friendly, attentive service. Wide brew and other drink selection. I would go back.

Great little bar and restaurant near MSG and Penn Station with a good variety on the menu and good Happy Hour Drink specials. Love to go and order a few apps and mini sliders to share.

I happened upon this restaurant en route to my hotel nearby. Had never heard of it before and was quite pleasantly surprised that it met my desires exactly. I wanted a pre-theater early dinner or late lunch with good food and service, but it was an "off" hour. Their menu had both sophisticated items and comfort food. I got both, ordering a posh seasonal cocktail and then a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich with camembert and avocado and a nice side salad. Both were wonderful. The service was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was calming - dim in the later afternoon and quiet. I could see the TVs in the bar but not hear them. Some patrons like me chose to eat at a low table in the rear area, rather than in the bar section. Very comfortable experience.

Went there late night to get a bite. Right around the corner from the hotel. First off the hostess took us to the worse, smallest little table they had in a corner where all the service had to pass by, even though they had many other tables open. Then they took forever to bring out the food, when it wasn't even busy in there. Then the food. I had a burger and the wife had a wrap. Simple. I asked for the burger to be well done. It was too well done. Super dry. And the wife's wrap had like maybe two pieces of meat in there. Worse place I went to on my NYC trip !

We were not planning to dine here but glad we did, not far from our hotel so just a short stroll. Nice atmosphere, good prompt service with drinks and food. To start we shared Sweet and Spicy Calamari very tasty. We both had burgers for mains, my partner added cheese and I added avocado both burgers were tasty but I found mine a little over cooked and dry, but do no not let that put she off. This is a nice place to chill.

Went last night with a couple of work buddies and thoroughly enjoyed our drinks and appetizers. Their happy hour is from 4-8 pm, so be prepared for large after work crowds and the most unbelievable noise level- LOUD! But the staff is friendly and the drinks strong. Highly recommend the sweet and sour calamari. Close to MSG and Penn Station

Great service and tasty local draft beer.perfect center of Manhattan. This is a sure bet and you won't regret! Coney Island.

Real - nice place, staff helpful. Daughter vegan and she had a really nice meal - cauliflower steak. Glazed salmon was also good. Would recommend.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner before a Billy Joel concert. It was a little crowded, but food was and service were good and they even played a bunch of Billy Joel songs.

I had an engagement party here on Sunday, February 12th (the venue itself is beautiful). At the end of the night, we realized our all of the cards that were given to us as gifts were gone. After reviewing surveillance cameras that took days for us to see, we can see one of their employees take the cards. The day after the event, I nervously waited for any news from the staff about the cameras and what happened to the cards. Alyssa said she would review it with the owner who was on his way in... a few hours later I called and was told Alyssa was gone for the day and the owner was NEVER set to come in. The following day they finally reviewed the footage and told me there was no evidence of theft or them accidently being thrown out. The following day after that the owner called me and offered me a free lunch/dinner. He defended his manager for lying and taking her sweet time to work on this, and said they did everything they could. As the paying customer who is experiencing this disaster (after what should have been a beautiful occasion), they were not the least bit sympathetic to what we were going through and still aren't. I have lost time at work over trying to find out what happened and what will happen, they have made me feel like a burden and have me crying at work writing this right now. I had to file a police report and there is now an ongoing investigation. Their staff has been cold and made a situation that was already difficult for us even harder. To top everything else off, they emailed me THREATENING ME because I left a bad yelp review after my experience with them. As is we have not gone through enough already. WE lost money, time, energy, sleep, and work hours over this. I am completely distraught and wouldn't wish this situation on an enemy, now I have to fear them coming after me for being HONEST about my experience.

We stopped here on our second day and loved it so much we came back three more times. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, but a big shout out to Luna who looked after us on New Years day and made our night more interesting. All of the food we ate was great, but the burgers were outstanding - one of the best I've ever had. And the cheese steak spring roll - unusual and tasty!

Went before concert at MSG. Had delicious kale/artichoke dip and big blue burger both were fantastic. Drinks were unique and also delicious. Had a blueberry lemonade with Stoli and fresh blueberries. Casual atmosphere.

Happy Hour is from 4-7. My Boyfriend and I got there at around 2:30 so it wasn't quite happy hour yet. Don't they know that some people have summer Fridays and need some drink specials?! Anyway, Juniper wasn't a bad experience. We wanted a small bite to eat before an early dinner, so we opted for the sliders and the Vietnamese-style wings to share. For the sliders, you can do can do any combination of three of the following: Mini Burgers (with american cheese & sauteed onions), Crispy BLT Chicken Sliders (pepper jack cheese, applewood smoked bacon, boston lettuce, tomato, chipotle aioli), or Crab Cake (fresh crab meat, bibb lettuce, plum tomato, spicy remoulade sauce). We went with two chicken and one crab. They were okay - tasted like something you could get from Costco, so I don't think it was really worth the $15. The wings were not bad. They were made with hoisin sauce, but had a little too much sauce so it was pretty salty. If I come back, it would only be for drinks during happy hour.

The staff at Juniper was awesome. We were initially seated at a high-top table in the bar. Since we don’t drink and the bar was pretty loud, we were not too happy. Never having been there, we didn’t realize that, even with a reservation, the actual dining room is small and usually booked so, they seat people next to the bar. The hostess and our server were able to get us into the dining room, most likely because a table cleared sooner than expected. Two of us had the tuna burger which was fantastic. Cooked the way we ordered it. My husband had the chipotle burger. Also spectacular! Side salad and fries were perfect. Service was exceptional. We were going to Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden and they got us out the door in plenty of time. The next time we’re in NYC we will be back but will definitely request a table in the dining room.

Prices are fair snd tge salmon burger was quite good and my lunch partner had a pasta dish that he lined. Not overly crowded snd quite good service

My sister and I stopped in for a late brunch and we were not disappointed. We had mimosas which were fresh and bright. Their cheese steak egg rolls with mustard aioli were to die for. I had the watermelon salad. So fresh and light with white balsamic dressing feta and baby greens. My sister had the avocado toast with a poached egg. Highly recommend this little place!!

Great spot for dinner and drinks before a show or game at MSG. Glad we called ahead for a table. Wings are amazing here and great drink specials. Word of advice from someone that managed restaurants & bars: if you see and clean up after a client spilling their drink, you should bring them a new one. Took a star off and also waitress lost an additional nice tip I was planning to add to her gratuity (that my friend was leaving.) Shout out to Maddy at the door! A real gem!

On business trip and solo on a NYC Sunday night. Wanted a good beer and something interesting NOT Time Squarish. Got at it at Juniper. Churrascuru wrap was great, location nice, and away from tourist crowd. Service was excellent. Great spot to try when looking for walkable unique In The most uninspiring part of the city (IMO).

I come here 2x-3x a month for happy hour with my coworkers. Centrally located in midtown area; near subways, Penn Station. Music is loud, DJ should update his playlists but otherwise ok.

Attended a presentation here with served appetizers and everything was delicious. Everything was served hot and nicely presented with a great variety. Close to Penn Station and New Hotel.

Grabbed some burgers and beers at Juniper Bar before a concert at the Garden. Online Reservation was easy with a quick response. Good location and nice setup with a popular bar up front and cozy seating in the rear. Uniquely positioned DeeJay perch built above the room kept the place happy. Burgers were sizeable and presented well, service was excellent and prices were very reasonable.

Delicious salmon burger, fresh green salad, and great service. What more can you ask for? Wait staff didn't rush us. Noisy, friendly atmosphere.

Found this restaurant following recommended reviews. We wanted a restaurant close to Madison square garden before the Knicks game. We were fed up of the usual burger and chips that is generally the 80% of Times Square menu specialty. Although you could find such items on the menu we wanted to mix it up and have a good selection and we were really satisfied. The Friendly staff, quick service and excellent food were a credit to such a well located, reasonably priced and welcoming establishment in NYC.

Loud and lively with friendly service and genuinely great food. We especially liked the mini-burger sliders which were just perfect

The food was good quality, tasty and fresh. Service was good. Overall good experience and would definitely return. Not too expensive and clean

My friend and I decided to check this place out after getting off the lirr. And we were so happy we did just because there is so many places to eat in New York and you never know what you will get. We had the yucca fries which I wanted to take 20 order with me home. They were excellent. I had the short rib and it was so good. It felt right off the bone. The drinks were so amazing. And our waiter was awesome. After we ate late lunch we decided to sit by the bar and the bartender was super friendly and also bought us a drink. Overall we had a great experience and the next time we go to NYC we will definitely stop there again.

I originally booked dinner for four back in late June for November because we would be in town for the Elton John concert at MSG. I realize this is very early. I received a confirmation from Alyssa asking me to verify that this was indeed for November which was then verified. The response Alyssa then provided was “Sounds Great, you are all set and in the books!” I have eaten at Juniper a few times, so I know that they usually text or call the day of your reservation to confirm. I landed that day and by 3pm, I had still heard nothing. I called and spoke to a woman who could not locate my name. I politely offered to send a copy of the confirmation and I mentioned Alyssa’s name, she advised she would escalate and asked for my phone number and promised to call me back. I never received a call back. Everything worked out and we found another place that would take us. Yes, the booking was early but it was confirmed and should have worked out. Unfortunately, my go to spot for MSG shows will no longer be Juniper.

We were invited to this place for a business meeting. A definite plus for us was the walking distance from Penn Station. We had reservations, but still had to wait for quite some time to be seated. We did not realize that it would be Thursday Night Happy Hour when we arrived. Our tiny table was in a far corner at the very back of the dining room. It was difficult to get in and out, or even move comfortably, without jostling the person at the next table. Having said that, we found the service and the food to be awesome. Two of us had the fire breathing Burger. Thankfully, we had ordered the spicy sauce on the side, so we could control how much we added to the sandwich. It was absolutely delicious to us, but people, beware – it IS spicy. The third person in our group ordered the Miso Chicken Wrap, and mentioned that it was mouth-watering good. The accompanying bottle of Trivento Malbec paired extremely well with all our dishes. The staff at this place is very nice. We were greeted warmly, and our server, Lexis G. was professional, polite and efficient. We marveled at the staff’s ability to maneuver the small place with the drink and the food trays. The ambiance was trendy, modern, friendly and jovial. It was a little too loud for our personal taste for a quieter setting – hence the 3-Star rating. The slight delay in rating this place was my inability to find it on this site. I am glad that I came across it by pure chance, and am doubly glad that I had saved the receipt that provided a lot of the details. Would definitely return for those Burgers if we are in the area again.

Food was ok. Spinach very over salted so bartender comped me a beer. Think I won that one. I’ll be back to try again due to their staff.

Very lively place good music great happy hour prices and tasty burgers. If your stopping in for a quick drink it’s ok but don’t expect to get a seat this spot gets very crowded for happy hour which starts at 4pm. If you plan on staying a while I suggest you reserve you can reserve a high top table at bar area and still order food. I enjoying myself plan and returning soon!

One of better Happy Hour spots in NYC, it's location near MSG makes it perfect to pregame before an event at MSG or just a destination alone. The drinks were extremely affordable and delicious. The menu makes sure you don't leave hungry, I had the chicken BLT sliders which was fantastic. The ambience and vibe at Juniper Bar is amazing, I love that the DJ plays all of the best 90s hits. Juniper is great for couples, girls night out and large groups. If you are looking for a great Happy Hour with excellent staff, you should go to Juniper Bar.

Great food. Great ambiance. Great staff. I have 4 or 5 different entrees and 2 or 3 different appetizers. ALL delicious. Mediterranean salad is BOMB! Mike (manager) is top notch. If it was within my budget, I would fly there weekly from the west coast for dinner!

I needed a quick place with my friends/coworkers to grab a late lunch after getting in from Penn Station from JFK. We were staying at the Moxy, so we chose to pop in to Juniper for a late lunch before going to walk through Chelsea. All the wine and cocktails we tried were delicious. The place was fairly empty because of the time, and the staff was incredibly helpful with the menu and friendly. I tried the maki mahi tacos and others tried the fried Brussel sprouts and the short rib Mac and cheese. While the tacos were not aesthetically pleasing, they were delicious. I originally thought it was pretty expensive, but we were in the heart of the city a couple blocks from Times Square, so it makes sense. The Brussel sprouts were delicious and covered in bacon, cheese, and caramelized onion. I didn't get to try the Mac and cheese, but it looked heavily. Because the staff was so great, I would likely visit again for drinks and forego the food next time should I stop by this place again.

So happy we chose this spot for dinner before a madison square garden show. I loved everything about it. If you are a gin drinker and like american fare, you'll especially enjoy - they have a full list of gin cocktails, including some for happy hour!! The cocktails were delicious, service was friendly and prompt, great music and vibe, and I had a really delicious burger - the meat tasted like a quality sirloin blend, with lots of flavor and cooked perfectly!! Highly recommend this place - fries were really really good too.

Great Brussel sprouts and Manhattan but weird service. Too many servers for smooth service. They brought the wrong taco entree, brought the marshmallows separately from the Smore dessert. Must have had 3 or 4 different servers rather than 1 good attentive one. Oh, and one of them left a hair garnish. Cozy but meh. Lots of competition in NYC, need to step it up.

Met some friends here before a concert at MSG. Very lively, loud environment. Great happy hour prices, great food, friendly staff. Will recommend.

We went to Junipter before going to a show at MSG and wow were we impressed. Great service and atmosphere and very well priced given the location. The lobster Mac n'cheese was incredible! Highly recommend!

My husband and I dined at Juniper on Sunday, late afternoon. We started out with cocktails from the happy hour specials menu and were pleasantly surprised at the great selection of wine and beer that was offered as happy hour specials. At other restaurants happy hour specials are usually less quality or lesser brands but not in this case....the wines were great! We had the lobster club which was delicious, one of the best we've ever had. Everything was made to order, the Mac and cheese and fries were cooked to our liking (on the well done side). The wonderful manager Amena even stopped by twice to make sure everything was prepared to our liking. She was friendly and extremely accommodating as was the chef! The bartenders were personable and quick to deliver our cocktails. Everything from the moment we walked in to the moment we left was perfection. We had a fantastic meal and perfect experience and we cannot wait to get back!

Great place to go for happy hour which runs from 4-8pm! Not surprisingly, the place is packed for it but they also have a second bar and lounge area downstairs. They have wine, beer and gin and tonic on the menu for the happy hour - all for $6. And they have a delicious little bar menu. We tried the truffled fries with aijoli and the brussels sprouts - both really good. Will definitely be back when in the area around that time!

Juniper is a great spot for after work drinks and food. I would recommend the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Calamari for starters. Both were delicious. I am a huge fan of burgers and the Big Blue burger is a favorite. For dessert, the chocolate mousse cake can satisfy any chocolate lover!

My wife and I visited this bar on the last night of our trip and a good choice it turned out to be. We managed to get the one remaining table available as we hadn’t realised that the Knicks were playing and the place was full. The service was excellent with our server explaining happy hour and helping my wife with recommendations for cocktails. We had a couple of drinks then ordered food, salmon for my wife and I ordered a 14oz pork chop!! The food was delicious and we both enjoyed every piece of our meals without any leftovers. If you’re visiting this area of Manhattan I recommend a visit to this bar.

This place is very loud around happy hour (late afternoon) if you like that kinda thing - obviously many do as the place was well patronized on a Wednesday evening. We had a dinner for 6 and the menu had all the typical standard tavern menu (i.e. burgers, tacos, a steak dish, a chicken dish and a fish dish). It is a real shame because I feel like they could be so much more creative with their menu and offer something that you can't get elsewhere, but they seem to choose not to. The venue itself is quite nice and stylish, although only have 2 toilets for the entire bar and restaurant is pretty poor - be prepared to wait in line and the only place to wait is in the bar area itself. At around $85.00 per head for drinks and dinner (including tip) at a tavern/pub is a little too expensive for my liking and so I would not likely return.

Was at Juniper for a wedding reception. Room downstairs has a full bar and reception area was wonderfully intimate but spacious for the 40 of us. Besides the couple, the other star of the night was the food. All the appetizers were GREAT!!! Of note were the lobster tacos, bacon wrapped scallops and the burger sliders. The Vodka Penne was so memorable and the desserts were varied and culinary masterpieces. A night to remember.

The roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and carrots was amazing. Cooked prefectly. The Cappuccino Mousse was delicious. They had about 8-10 beers on tap. Definitely will go back.

Myself and 3 others stopped in last night for a quick drink and bite to eat prior to seeing a concert at MSG. We arrived at 6:10, not having a reservation and were told it would be an hour wait. We stayed for a drink since it was happy hour. They have a handful of wines and a gin and tonic on the happy hour menu. About 15 minutes into our drinks a 4 top opened up, which they gave to us. We ordered quickly and let the server know we were headed to concert. We all got a sandwich of some kind-regular burger, turkey burger, chicken sliders, napa chicken sandwich-all which were excellent and came with fries. My only complaint is that is was a little loud, so we felt we had to shout at each other. Otherwise overall the food and drinks were tasty.

Prosecco is $6 on Sundays for all day happy hour - need I say more?! Nice decor. Beautiful bar. Toilets are clean and warm, (big pet peeve of mine is using a restaurant toilet and it’s freezing cold!). Had the short rib sandwich with Camembert and pickles. Very good. Will definitely return on my next trip to NYC.

Went there with family, the place looks like a classy bar but the food is also nice. Worth a visit when in the area.

My daughter, who is going to school in New York, chose to eat here because she thought the online pictures were cute! We started with the brussel sprouts appetizer which was absolutely delicious- a mound of crispy bacon, perfectly fried brussel sprouts, and gooey cheese! I had the lobster club which was amazingly loaded with lobster chunks. My husband chose lobster tacos which he really enjoyed. Our daughter had the flatbread appetizer as her meal and it was large and filling. This was a very enjoyable meal!

Quick to seat and attentive wait staff. I had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Good enough. Nothing special - and there wasn't anything on the menu that would separate this pub from another.

Good spot for an after work frosty one with pleasant colleagues. Near to New York Penn and the Garden.

We had a nice lunch at Juniper. The decor is really well done and the service was excellent. The salads and appetizers were both very well prepared. Good selection of craft beers, wines by the glass and specialty drinks to complement the food.

Juniper provided the perfect setting for a reunion I organized with 15 former colleagues. The food was delicious (recommend the truffle fries, pizzas, sliders) and the staff was so attentive and friendly. Juniper is the perfect treat for a night out and right near Penn Station so great if you are commuting. Definitely recommend for large and small gatherings.

Excellent food and nice ambience! The staff was very nice and attentive! Can recommend their hamburgers and Caesar salad.

Awesome restaurant and lounge. Friendly bar staff. Excellent menu. Tuna Tacos were my favorite, while my husband loved the philly spring rolls. Great cocktails. We stopped here twice while visiting as out hotel was only a couple of blocks away. No doubt we will return!

This is a cool bar. It has a neat vibe. Loud, lots of stools, tvs, and music. Younger crowd. Probably the best overall "bar" in the area. Good selection of wine and beer

My boyfriend and I came in here for lunch and the ambience was very warm and cozy. The waiter was nice however we thought the food was just ok. My boyfriend had the lobster roll sandwich and I had the beef sliders. Both were good but nothing to get excited about. We tried the steak rolls for an appetizer which was recommended by our waiter but I personally thought it was lacking something. Will I come back? Maybe but just for drinks.

We just had a few pints and a few glasses of wine, after a long day sightseeing and shopping. Smart casual, very relaxing and welcoming, shame we didn't have the energy or appetite for a very appealing dinner.

Juniper is an airy, comfortable spot with a large bar. The bar features happy hour specials every day from 4-7 pm and all day on Sundays. Specials include 1-2 cocktails, a draft beer, and a couple of wine specials. The rosemary-infused him is a bit overpowering.

One of my mentees took me out for a light dinner while she was visiting from out of town. She chose the location due to convenience because she has to leave the city afterwards. The restaurant is 5 minute block to Penn Station and many subways converge close by. I was able to choose whatever seat I preferred as I waited for her to arrive. They had happy hour all day on Sunday so I had a nice glass of red for $6 (unheard of in Manhattan). She ordered steak tacos and I had a lobster club sandwich with truffle fries. I highly recommend it. You don't need the truffle aioli ($) the truffle fries are fine without it. The portions are good. I took half of my food home to eat later. The one downside of our visit was that one of the desserts that we ordered had a black line on the bottom and my mentee sent it back. So we shared the other dessert - 15 minutes later a staff person brings out another piece of the dessert that she sent back. So we sent it back stating we had no idea it was going to take so long to be replaced. So they took the dessert off of the bill and we left.

We were looking for American style food that was close to the hotel, The reviews on Yelp were good but no one mentioned that the restaurant is a small section in the back of a very loud and active bar scene. I had the short ribs which were excellent. It is impossible to have a conversation in this place but if you just want a good meal and good drinks, and like to stare wantonly at your partner, this is your place. Next time check Trip Advisor!

Before going to MSG to see Carrie Underwood we stopped at Juniper bar for dinner. The atmosphere was very inviting inside. We started with a glass of wine and I had a roasted beet salad that was delicious. My daughter had the arugula salad and enjoyed it just as much.My main course was short ribs with a demi glaze roasted young carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. It literally melted in my mouth/ despite the fact the beat salad was very big I ate everything on my dinner plate because it was so good. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. my daughter had the pizza and loved it too but wished she got the short ribs too. No room for dessert but would highly recamend this Restaurant to anyone wanting a good meal. our bill came to $73 and it was worth every penny.

I was at the Vanderbilt for more than one month. Finally went to Thursday nite happy hour. My Cobb salad was great and will definitely frequent it more often. So glad I moved to a place that has fine dining and really friendly people. Excellent service.👍
Sub-par food & wine + sub-par service = not coming here again!
I had good expectations coming here as I had read good reviews about this place. But I have to say they didn't deliver on any front. Atmosphere is fine for a bar, and beer selection is decent (though many other places do a far better job if that's your interest). Where I was really let down was the food and service. The menu looks great (lots of interesting sounding dishes), but the bartender recommended the lobster club house to me as one of his favorites and I was quite disappointed with it. Mixing cheese with seafood doesn't work for me. Also, the wine list leaves a lot to be desired. No thought or passion put into it. If you're into generic wine, it will service you well, but if you're looking for something interesting or great, this is not the place. Service was a mixed bag. The first bartender was fine...standard good that you would expect. But when he left for a break, there was only one woman covering the whole bar and she spent a lot of time chatting up customers instead of looking down the bar at the rest of her customers; a combination of lack of awareness and perhaps too much for her to handle by herself (a management issue). Either way, I waited about several minutes to flag her down to get my bill, then waited even longer to have her come get it with my Visa (which I put in the bill 30 seconds after she dropped it off to me), and then she served the bill to the person next to me before me even though I was ahead of him in the queue. On top of that, this person was drunk and loudly swearing in the bar and no staff member came over to talk to him about that kind of behaviour in a public place. Maybe that kind of thing is just accepted in NY, but I found it pretty strange. I know that all might sound rather petty, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, and frankly, there are just so many other places to eat in Manhattan that why would you bother eating here?
