After spending 3 days in NYC, we were headed back south on the Acela via Amtrak's Penn Station and were looking for a place to get a drink and a bite to eat. After walking around the station, we were attracted to Kabooz's, a medium sized restaurant located in Penn Central station. What a great way to leave NYC. The atmosphere was excellent and the maitre'd was outstanding (can't remember if his name was Nick) as was the waitress. So friendly and listening to the great music that Nick (?) was providing via his Pandora collection being played over the reataurants audio system was excellent. I had a martini and my wife had a glass of chardonnay while we waited for dinner. Would love to see this restaurant & its atmosphere and staff in our hometown here in Mississippi. It was all good and an excellent way to spend the last 2 hours in The Big Apple while waiting for our train.

Who would think a restaurant in Penn Station would be good? Good salads; good chicken; good service, too

I went here with a friend who comes here all the time. It is scary how the regulars all know one another by name and how well the bartenders know them as well. It can be a very lively group sitting at the bar. The service is welcoming and friendly. After a few visits, even the bartenders are getting to know me as well and they can really mix a drink so be prepared and their mixed drinks are really good. The food is wonderful here too but try not to order the Kabooz sampler as some of the things on the plate are frozen and not as good as the regular entrees, The sandwiches, chicken fingers and hamburgers are really good and it will surprise you how good the food is for a bar. Try the salted caramel cake for dessert, it is sweet, dense and just delicious. A great place to stop when catching the trains.

We were looking for a place near Madison square garden to have a drink before a basketball game. We found this place online, we looked a little bit for it because it is easy to miss it since it is a small place. Once you enter it is a surprisingly quiet place with an intimate atmosphere. This is a beer bar, but of course you can have a bite. I ordered a beer, but my friends were coming from work so ordered food also. We didn't wait long to be brought the food and it was pretty much what you would expect to receive. The waiters are very nice and friendly.

I started off having Guinness at the bar and I was enjoying my time there until one of the male bar tenders started to insult me on the way i ordered my beer. He made me very angry. My friends saw me upset and had to console me for 15 minutes. I will not return until I get an apology.

$13.61 cup of coffee...in Penn station...NYC...what else do you need to know? If you are starving and find yourself here, it's as good a choice as any, I suppose.

We had skipped breakfast to make sure we got to the station in time for our train. Ended up with an hour wait time. Chose Kabooz for a relaxing sit-down breakfast. It was surprisingly good and the noise level was way lower than out in the station. A very nice travel oasis. Very nice young waiter. Delicious French toast with bananas and candied walnuts. The best cheddar and mushroom omelet we had ever tasted with fresh ciabatta bread. Yumm! Highly recommended!

We have always been disappointed in options for where to wait for your train in Penn Station waiting on Amtrack. Well, we finally found a nice and hospitable place with Kabooz's. They even have a little outside the restaurant space to people watch. Good drinks, nice food. This is our go-to spot now.

Having not been in the city for many years, we were not sure where to go. We had gone to a matinee and needed to catch a 6:44 train back to Hartford/Springfield. Since we could not be sure of timing, we went straight to Penn Station. Now we had plenty of time to wait so decided on Kabooz for a bite to eat and have a cocktail. It was a delightful surprise. My husband had a grilled reuben and I had vegetarian chili. Both delicious. Our service was excellent and nicely timed. The atmosphere is fun and enjoyable.

This is a place in Penn Station where you can sit down, have some food and drinks while you wait to catch your train. Food is not that memorable, for a $20 appetizer sampler you get kind of a weak selection. Rings and nachos were ok.

Nice spot inside penn station. The day was sweltering hot but their AC was working well. Had soup and chicken quesadillas and a beer. All good. Reasonable prices and service was excellent. Would go back when have time to wait for a train. Not super fancy but who needs that inside the train station. Nice. Real from the monotony outside. And the heat outside too.

Came across this place while wanting something to eat before we caught a train. The food was great and even supplied a doggy bag! They served quickly and even found out the platform for our train and pointed us in the right direction. Nicole was new in her role but did a first class job. Shame we found it on our last day as we would have been back.

What a great surprise to find such wonderful food, beautiful decor and such soothing music right at Penn Station. Let alone the welcoming and helpful staff! Kudos to the owners!

Thought we would try this bar and restaurant in Penn Station on a layover. It has a full bar and a full menu with brunch to dinner as well as appetizers. We tried the Reuben which not only tasted wonderful, but was cut in a heart shape. The loaded beef nachos we're tasty and a large portion. Onion rings were good, coleslaw good. Waiter was top notch and we will be back.

We were in Penn Station for a early train and the Kabooz was open for breakfast. We didnt expect much in a bar in Penn station and were pleasantly surprised at how good the breakfast was. The servers were friendly and fast. The food order was correct with all of our changes and tasted very good. A nice morning surprise!

What a wonderful place to spend time in, waiting for train in Penn Station. Away from the chaos of the masses rushing and bumping. Tremendous menu and choice of fresh drafts. Excellent staff and prices. Will be back when at Penn!

Never been here before but since TGIF's was rude to us we hopped over here and we had to wait but they were friendly and the food was good too. Thanks.

Located in Penn Station. Burger was very good and priced right. Nice glass of wine and not over priced. Friendly service but no way to turn down music so I sat outside in tables set up in terminal area. Will probably go back, but music level is an issue. Maybe I'm just too old.

We've been coming to Penn Station for years. This is the first time we've noticed Kabooz's Bar and Grill. What a pleasant breath of fresh air! It's a lovely unexpected place. We were in a hurry. We only had a half hour before our train was to depart. The waitress said we'd have no problem eating in time to catch the train. We ordered a quesadilla and a burger. Both were delicious. The atmosphere was pleasant. The music was pleasing, the wait staff was friendly. The price was reasonable. I totally forgot I was at Penn Station and not somewhere else eating dinner. In the end we did finish our meal in time to catch a train. Everything was really good. We'll be back!

Kabooz's is a comfortable bar and grill inside Penn Station. The burger was very good and the service was outstanding.

I love Kabooz's. I stop here every time I'm in the Big Apple. If I lived here, I would go out to dinner here. I just had a catfish dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans that was perhaps the best dinner "out" I've had all year. And it was less than $18! The draft beers I've had with my dinner were all $4 during the 4 to 8 PM Happy Hour Monday thru Friday. Staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Kabooz's.

I can't believe that in a train station in New York City we were able to find a $4 draft beer special! ALL Drafts - including Shock Top and Guinness and the other domestic choices you would expect. The service was great. We sat in the outside (in the terminal) and the people watching at rush hour was very entertaining. We didn't eat there, but the food looked good.

We've known about and stopped at Kabooze for years. Its a secret, tucked away in Penn Station under the MSG. Great food and we always sit at the bar. Place has a vibe of travelers either on their way out to LI or NJ or waiting for an Amtrak train. Since people are coming and going they always have your bill at the ready and get food out on the fly if needed.

Saw a mouse crawl past and management acted like it wasn't a big deal. I know it's a train station and there are going to be rodents... But not in places where people eat...c'mon. Went there because it seemed cheap and was the best dining in option. Staff is great and fast with food. And food was good until I saw that. Would NOT recommend!

So tasteful food. So friendly stuff. Pretty environment, you feel as a part of a Hollywood movie . Best experience for original American lunch or dinner.

Great small sitdown restaurant/bar in Penn Station. Got there 5:45 place was packed because of concert. Put my name down for table for four but they mistakenly bypassed my name. Restaurant manager (Mark) realized this and bought our next round of drinks and found us a table quickly and we made the concert on time. Quick service and the food was very good. (and I'm a chef). Highly recommend, will be back for sure!

Pleasant surprise in penn station, just stopped in for a lite dinner and had the best bruschetta!!!!

I had plenty of time before my train and was looking for something outside of the normal chain fast food that's so plentiful at Penn Station. I settled on Kabooz's and was pleasantly surprised -- the staff were friendly without being overbearing, the food was good and plentiful, and the place was comfortable, even for a passenger with luggage.

We wanted breakfast before a long train and car trek home and tried Kabooz. We soon realized we had lost a chunk of time due to heavy rain and our train would depart from an unknown gate in 23 minutes. Our server Felix assured us we could safely order and quickly returned with very good coffee and took our omelet orders. Not only did he report back often to keep us apprised, but the owner did as well, assuring us breakfast was in progress. When I asked to pay our bill early, yet a third person brought and quickly processed it. The omelets were excellent and came w home fries, ciabatta toast and orange slices. Upshot: we did make our train well sustained but only because of the extra efforts of the Kabooz staff; otherwise it would have been fast food, if that. We plan on making a return, and really appreciate the kindnesses of all, kitchen staff included. Thank you!

One would assume that this is a tourist joint - but no. A lot of us working in 1 Penn Plaza come here for lunch and drinks (after work of course). The food is always good. They always have a lunch special that is not only good but also excellent value. Even if it is crowded, wait for a table - it will be worth it.

Got stuck at Penn Station for 2 hours around lunchtime when Amtrakâs computers went down so no new tickets could be purchased. Decided to grab lunch at Kaboozâs since they had seating and Wifi. Great pub atmosphere and was pleasantly surprised that the food was very good. Had a burger and some onion rings which were cooked perfectly. Talked a little politics with the manager who was very nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend grabbing lunch or dinner at Kaboozâs if you have some extra time at Penn Station.

Stopped in for an early lunch between trains. As we were in Penn Station, NYC, I had low expectations, but had that all wrong indeed. Service was speedy. Place looked clean. Staff was SUPER friendly and efficient. We each ordered the grilled cheeses with tomato and bacon. Both were excellent and big enough that we could have shared just one. The cole slaw and potato salad sides were both very good. Server even packed up the remaining two half-sandwiches to go. I ordered a glass of white wine. It was nicely chilled and decent enough. And the prices were reasonable for NYC.

We had a little over an hour to wait for our Amtrak train and we were hungry, thirsty, and tired. Were we glad we found Kabooz. We ordered the pita and hummus plate (3 different types of hummus) and a big salad and that was our tasty lunch. The prices were good and our server was delightful. He even introduced us to the chef! In the hustle and bustle of NYC, it was a relief to relax in this quiet space. The waiter said it was usually much busier at lunchtime, but since this was one of the first nice spring days, he thought everyone was outdoors. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, especially if you're passing through Penn Station.

Stopped in here because we had time to kill before our train and we needed to grab a bite to eat for lunch. We were so glad we did! Great food, nice atmosphere! Manager Mark explained it was a great place to be before a concert or a game at MSG. We will definitely stop in again on our next trip to NYC. Thanks!

What a pleasant surprise! We discovered Kabooz's on our way back to the LIRR from the Meadowlands. Everything was fantastic- the service, the ambiance, the food and the beer. We had a bacon cheeseburger and waffle fries- one of the better burgers I have had in some time and the fries cooked to perfection! We were greeted right away when we walked up to the bar and they helped us quickly as we had a train to catch. We walked in not expecting much and left saying we can't wait to go back... which we definitely will!

I am here a couple of times a year. Its the only place I will go in Penn Station. Always appears clean and service is spot on. They dont rush you as they understand you are probably waiting for a train. They have Wi-Fi as well. Staff is friendly anf 9 times out of 10, a manager will come check up on things. There are always daily special that are quite good. Give it a try.

Let's be honest; you're only going to eat here because you're waiting for a train. But for what it is, a quick place to grab a drink and done pub-style food, it's pretty damn good. Decent food (nothing fancy, but it's made well), and the service is quick & polite. Probably the best place to go for a bite if you've got some time to kill before catching an Amtrak or LIRR train.

Yes at Penn Station - Amtrak Level! This is a hidden gem within the mayhem and chaos that is normally Penn Station. Waiting for your train - arrived to the station early, then Kabooze's Bar & Grill is a great place to get a beverage and food while waiting for the train. Wait staff friendly, food good, prices very reasonable for New York. A treat worthy of trying are the boneless chicken wings - massive! Made from huge chucks of chicken breasts and spiced just right. Get the regular size portion unless you're with friends or extremely hungry. Sit outside the restaurant in the terminal area seating - awesome place to watch the world go by or just to "people watch". A recommended stop for out-bound train travelers.

Came here to get some food before a Knicks game. Place is not too easy to find (it's on the rotunda at the Amtrak level) Busy as can be. Efficient staff, great beer and cozy food. Don't expect anything fancy, but the food is comfy, hot and tasty. not to expensive. No place to have a nice after dinner conversation, but that's not what we came for!

As soon as our train arrived from Philadelphia, we wanted to have a nice sit-down meal while waiting for check-in at our nearby hotel. I wanted to try a place I had never been to before, so this seemed like a good restaurant. Best decision was to try it here! The service was incredibly friendly, and their reuben sandwich is excellent! And for all of my of-age fellow travelers, I highly recommend trying their sparkling rum punch. Can't wait to return here again!

We were on our way to a show at MSG and chose this place partly because it was raining and we couldn't be bothered to leave the station, which was our natural tendency. Our salads - one portobello mushroom and one chicken caesar - were big and tasty. The staff was friendly and the music was all by the artists we were going to see in concert, which was a nice touch! Recommended for anyone around Penn Station.

Walk past TGIF and head to the local place. The drinks were strong, the food was yummy and the service was very attentive.

We travel from PA to NYC via train into New York Penn Station. We normally select our dinner location from the huge variety in the area around Broadway. Since the weather was not great, we decided to head back to Penn Station and eat there. What a great surprise! They have a varied menu....apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and desserts. Something for everyone in our party of 4. We ordered the Caprese Salad as an app.....it was very fresh and the moz was top quality! We followed with sandwiches/burgers....all very tasty, fresh, and served hot along with great sides included. To make everything even sweeter, the dessert selections are fabulous! 1 App, 4 Sandwiches, 3 Desserts.....total just under $100.00. Great deal for NYC!

I travel from New Jersey into NYC often..every time I stop at Kabooz's to visit Gary and the Gang...! What a great group of friends. .! GARY is the head chef and is an amazing one at that!!!!! Everyone is friendly and the FOOD and service Is Great.!! They are located at Penn Station NYC ..the prices can't be best. AND HAPPY OUR IS THE VERY BEST!!!! MARGARITA! !! YUM..

Penn station is not the greatest place to be with time to kill - presumably waiting for a train. Here is a spot to get away from the dismal concrete cave outside and make that waiting time all the happier. A cosy bar atmosphere, tables in compartments, soft rock background music and friendly serving staff to bring along something like a salmon sandwich with salad (a lot bigger than it might sound) or fries. Nothing fancy then, and you probably would not come here specially for it, but a great deal better than most station cafes.

By all means: avoid the rush hour at the bar at Kabooz, located inside Penn Station. It's being jam-packed is bad enough, but the clientele --- after a drink or two --- invariably bellow at the top of their (already stentorian) voices. OK to eat in the restaurant area, though --- provided you can tolerate the din from the bar and the canned piped-in music --- which, you may be assured, does not consist of Chopin or Debussy! The rush hour --- Monday through Friday --- runs from approcimately 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

We stopped here before our train as we had very little time and there was no food on the train. We found the food and service to be great.

Kabooz is such an unassuming place. it just looks like any old dive bar located in the bowels of Penn Station but it is such a surprise. The food and the service are excellent. I have never met such a nice and engaging group of bartenders who are so friendly and talkative. They are the nicest bunch of people to talk to after a long day. They really make you feel at home. If you are having or had a rough day at work, they will pep you up. The food is amazing! I had a bacon cheeseburger that was packed with flavor and so juicy and perfectly cooked. The beef actually tasted like beef. It was flavorful and nicely seasoned. Way better than most bar menu's and the Buffalo Chicken Wings are some of the best I have eaten. Perfectly battered and cooked with the right amount of spice in the sauce. They are plump and meaty and you could make a meal of them alone. I talked with one of the kitchen cooks here and I could tell that they take a lot of pride in the food and service of this bar/restaurant. The drinks are also perfectly mixed and pack a wallop. Don't let appearances fool you. I highly recommend Kabooz for a nice evening out with friends even though you have to deal with Penn Station. Once inside, you will never know that you were there.

Even if your not traveling on the railroad you might want to stop by here for a quick and delicious meal. The service was outstanding and the food was very good and plentiful. Stopping in on the night of a NY Rangers game, the place was packed. Even so, the food we ordered came quickly and was cooked exactly the way each of our party of four ordered it. In addition to the great service, the owner came by our table twice to make sure everything was fine.

Standard bar food with good service. Good selection of appetizers, salads, burgers, etc. the prices are not bad either.

I saw this place had alot of good reviews on Tripadvisor and put it on my list of places to eat while in NYC not really thinking we would go since it was in Penn Station. Well let me tell you I am so glad we were in the area and hungry because this place is AMAZING. The atmosphere was wonderful, the food was yummy, and the prices were reasonable. This turned out to be my favorite place to eat in NYC. I will make this recommendation to anyone going to NYC, eat here!!!

I definitely count this among the best options in Penn Station for food -- and one of the only restaurant with sit-down dining. Great place to grab or snack or dine while you wait for the train. My burger was overcooked and came with the wrong cheese. The service was lovely so I could have sent it back, but honestly it wasn't worth the potential delay. The wine was much better. Solid options at good prices. I will be back again, but I have reasonable expectations about what to expect. This isn't going to knock your socks off but you will come away satisfied.

Located in Penn Station, my friends and I often meet here before and/or after seeing the Yankees play. We always sit at the bar because we enjoy the friendly atmosphere. We meet travelers who are passing time before catching the train home or to more distant locations served by Amtrak. The conversations are always interesting. We also appreciate the hospitality of the bartenders. They are courteous, efficient, and friendly. They are always busy serving drinks and food, but they are never too busy to spend time to visit with us. Through the years, we have had several different bartenders, but our favorite one is a young lady from Poland. I'm sure I will misspell her name, but it is Renata. (my apologizes for the misspelling) Don't miss the happy hour during the weekdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. I like the $5 margaritas and the boneless chicken wings. I know you will like them too.

Great authentic bar in Penn Station. Perfect location if you have to wait for your train to arrive. Just sit at the bar, have a beer and watch the game!

We've been to Cabooze's twice now on trips to New York. It's conveniently located in Penn Station, a hub for the Long Island and subway lines. Looking for someplace reasonable to have a sit-down meal in NYC can be a challenge, but this place fits the bill. The food is fairly priced for the location, and very good. They have a full range of appetizers and sandwiches, and some entrees. Though we didn't utilize the bar, it looked good, too. Staff very friendly and attentive. Great place for a late lunch after a long morning of sightseeing.

We selected this restaurant because of its menu and location since 4 of us were coming together after traveling from Long Island, Albany and different areas of Manhattan. We had made a reservation and when we arrived asked to be seated at a booth rather than a table but were told by the hostess no, we couldn't because the booths were reserved for Ranger fans. This didnât seem reasonable so one of our party asked why and was told it was what she was told by her manager. She may have been having a bad day, but her manner was curt and she didn't make a very good impression. Not long thereafter, 2 young men were seated at the booth and one of our group said to us, "I guess the important Rangers fans have arrived." I wouldn't have said anything and certainly not that but she felt that we had been poorly treated by the hostess. Well, it went down hill from there with the man in the booth essentially claiming ownership of the booth, pointing to a small plaque on the wall with his name and then telling my friend that she was just so full of sh#t that she must be a liberal. NOT THE KIND OF ATMOSPHERE FOR A RELAXING DINNER. Having said that, let me assure you that the waitstaff was great and the food quite good. I would have put the boor in the booth in the penalty box!

Amidst the noise and bustle of Penn Station, the Kabooze Bar and Grille offers a quiet place to enjoy a decent meal. My breakfast of coffee, eggs and bacon was served quickly by a pleasant staff. The toast is a bit thick and "untoasty" but otherwise the meal was excellent.

I have been coming to Kabooz's Bar and Grill for many years and it has a nice vibe to it. A friend of mine is a regular here and the staff is really nice and very welcoming. We came to watch the basketball games and have lunch. I had a bacon cheeseburger for dinner and it was wonderful. The burgers here are rather large and juicy and topped with a lot of bacon. They make a nice burger platter. They can really mix a good drink. I had two Cosmo's and it really knocked me out. I was very relaxed after lunch and we had a nice time. It is a nice place to converse with people here and socialize.

My best friend loves this place so we are always here. The drinks are delicious and well made and if you order a soda there are free refills. The burgers are the best thing on the menu as they are big, juicy and well-cooked. Try the bacon, cheese burger medium well. It is worth the trip through the gloomy Penn Station for the meal. The service is very friendly and personable.

Had a last bite, 2 appetizers, Balsamic Calamari and Scallop Seviche...both excellent..... Jamison on rocks pretty good too....

I come to Kabooz's quite often because my friend loves the place and I enjoy coming here for a drink. The food is also very good. They make the best chicken nachos were loaded on the top with all sorts of ingredients, the fried cheese is homemade and not frozen and their red sauce is very good and their chicken fingers are fresh and not frozen. They have some kick to them. All of their appetizers are good. You need them because the drinks are strong and they do not skip on the liquor. My best friend's favorite bartender can really mix a drink. It really is a place that everyone knows your name.

I think this place has changed names a few times, and their staff has changed (for the better) too! Very friendly waitress who scurried off to get our beers under the wire for happy hour as we waited for our train. Will always return!

My friend and I were looking for a place to have a drink before leaving Penn Station, and this pub-style restaurant looked inviting. It has a long bar and a few tables in the front. We ordered wine and soft drinks from the bartender who was friendly, in spite of our minimal bill. The bar area was relatively quiet and had a comfortable atmosphere for us to talk for a few minutes before heading for a train.

Comfy Pub just outside Amtrak level. Happy hour 4 to 6 .the food was adequate serving good soup and sandwiches , loved the burger.Wine list was o.k. The music was great ! As was the service.have great vacation Alla. P.S. Head and shoulders above Friday's

This is a very good place to eat or drink while waiting for a train or returning from a journey. The food is quite good, and reasonably priced, as New York restaurants go. The drinks are good, albeit not exactly cheap. Bartenders and wait staff are very friendly. Avoid the bar 4 - 8 p.m. weekdays: very crowded! And: the rest rooms are popular!

Waiting for a train in Penn Station with time to kill, there are only two sit-down restaurant options, TGI Fridays and Kabooz's. We chose to take our chances with Kabooz's, which was new to us. I had great vegetarian nachos (lots of griiled vegetables, not just cheese), my husband had the meat chili (which was served with tricolored corn chips) and we both had draft beers for a total of $50, including tax and tip. The food was excellent and the beer was cold. The service was rapid, attentive and friendly. We thought it was a good and surprisingly inexpensive choice compared to the food court options.

Don't be fooled by it's location this is a great place to eat, the burgers are very good and loaded with your favourite filling, the onion rings melt in your mouth, the portions are big, the prices are great for what you get. If you are hungry and in need of a rest this place deserves a visit. Great service, great value.

Stopped in for a super fast burger before catching Amtrak out of Penn Station. We asked in advance of seating if they could accommodate an extremely fast order as we were pressed for time. They told us no problem and totally delivered. Burgers in less than 10 minutes. Also as important as speed, the burgers and waffle fries were perfectly cooked and delicious. No stress or hassles before boarding the train. And no hunger. When in Penn Station, stop here!

Expecting a rip-off at Penn Station this restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Service was super! Food pretty good and bill was fair. We were not rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

A surprisingly good restaurant experience in Penn Station. The staff is very friendly, the food is excellent and also reasonably priced considering it's NYC and they have a semi-captive audience in the Amtrak station. We really appreciated being able to sit in this quiet place and have a very pleasant experience. Let's mention again that the staff was extremely welcoming.

I was impressed with how quickly we were seated by a friendly hostess even though they were quite busy. The menu has interesting specials, but most of it is overpriced bar food and it takes a long time to come out. The servers, however, were really pleasant, put up with some detailed requests and made things right quickly if they came out wrong. All in all, great people, missable food. I'd stop into a fast food chain at the station before coming back to this place.

We had a 3 hour wait at penn station on the hottest day on record in NYC-- 102F. The only cool spot was this restaurant. We hung out there for almost 3 hours while our server, Daniel took amazing care of us with A cheerful, pleasant attitude. He can not imagine how grateful we were. We ordered the nachos which were very good and the blueberry pancakes and bacon, which were outstanding. The bathroom was super clean, the food was good, the people nice and the air cool. In all, an excellent experience. Thank you, Daniel.

We were out touring New York city and were in Macy's at Herald Square at west 34th street. We stopped for a drink and decided we needed to find a place for dinner. I pulled out my phone and looked up TripAdvisor for some recommendations of restaurants in the area. Kabooz was in the top 10 of choices listed. It was also the closest as it was in Penn Station on the Amtrack level. Penn Central is just kitty corner to Macy's. This seemed easy enough but we did spend about 10 minutes wandering around Penn Station before we finally stumbled on Kabooz. A few signs might help. We were lucky in that we were able to walk in and get a table right away. I have eaten at other train stations and have found those restaurants to be pretty good. This one was also a good find. Our server was friendly and gave us good attention. The place was a little busy with commuters and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Even city police were inside waiting for a take out order. Kabooz has a very large menu selection and I liked everything listed. I ordered penne a la vodka and my sister had the caesar salad with chicken. My penne a la vodka was delicious and came with a slice of garlic bread. It also came piping hot and that is how I like my food served. My sister said her salad was good and that the chicken had a very nice flavour. I would recommend this place for dinner.

Whether you are commuting to Long Island or from New Jersey all roads lead to Kaboozs. Nestled on the upper level of Penn Station this is a fantastic find. Full Bar Fantastic array of appetizers I had the ribs!! They were fall of the bone delicious, with creamy cole slaw and an individual home fresh baked corn bread. The soda was flowing and the service is phenomenal

Had time to kill at the Penn station in NYC, were welcomed right in. Had luggage, the manager and staff were very attentive and helpful. Gave us a great space to eat and drink before a long train ride. The calamari was delicious as well as the boneless wings. The Moscow Mule, and the Mojito were both perfection. The manager is Hilarious and has a great staff he manages well. Highly recommend if your in Penn station.

Called in for a late night snack after a day of travelling and by the time they were only serving bar snacks, there were no prices on the snacks menu but didn't think much of it until the bill came and it was quite expensive for the quality, pretty much $15 each for average chicken wings and a Caesar salad that was just leaves dressing and chicken, no croutons or shaved parmesan and the chicken was a little over grilled. The server was very nice and polite though. I'd maybe stop in for a drink but I don't think I'd eat there again.

Great place to grab a dink while you wait for your train - Renata takes great care of us! I don't come to penn too much but when I'm there I always stop in

Had some time to spend before my train and decided to have lunch at Kabooz's. The staff was fantastic, and service very good. My chicken sandwich was quite large, and the waffle fries were fresh and hot. The plate included a small ramekin of cole slaw and a delicious pickle. This is a good option in the sea of craziness otherwise known as Penn Station.

I go through Penn Station all the time-usually in a hurry-and pass by this place. Assuming that train station and airport restaurants are generally mediocre, I never bothered to go in. But I had time to kill recently and stopped in for drinks and dinner. Fun bar, friendly staff and good drinks. Had the chicken quesadilla and it was really tasty. Presentation was nice too. They also have a very large and diverse menu to satisfy lots of different tastes. Will definitely visit again.

Brunch, anyone? Commuter's haven on a weekend, even worth a trip if you don't commute. Hidden away, but we found this little trestars?asure a few years ago.Particularly like steak and eggs, served just right. Inquiry about the cut of beef was met by a personal visit by the chef. Granted, Labor Day weekend is slow, but I can't recall the last time I received a visit from the chef! Maybe a tour of the Ducasse kitchen at the Hotel du Paris in Monaco, but we are talking different galaxies here. Not fancy schmancy, but cozy, clean, sweet staff. Booths, also, and show posters, clean bathrooms. Bet everything else is good here, also. Who needs 5 stars?

Yes! I stumbled on this place because my train to DC was delayed. The staff were AWESOMEâ checking satisfaction and needs. They even reminded patrons sitting outside the restaurant that happy hour was expiring. They cleaned tables quickly and were so polite. The grilled Reuben was good, the homemade potato salad was eggcellent, and my neighborâs salads looked fresh and plentiful. Hands down a superior choice than the report I got from my colleagues who chose TGIFriday and were disappointed.

Whenever we are at Penn Station to catch the train, this is our "go-to" place to eat. We really like the full-service restaurant atmosphere and the amazing selection of food, which consists of a great amount of vegetation selections. BTW - We highly recommend the vegetarian nachos, the portobello mushroom salad and the portobello napoleon. I agree with others that the service can be a bit slow, but the staff is very friendly. We will always be back.

Penn Station keeps changing with new places and chain restaurants added daily. With hundreds of thousands of people walking through continually. Here lies an old gem that performs incredibly well each and every day. Please give it a visit, you will be well rewarded.

Make reservations if you plan to be in Penn for an event at MSG. We waited 45 minutes. Worth the wait. The food was excellent.. the bow tie pasta with chicken and shrimp was surprisingly good as was the Risotto special. Donât pass this up if you want to eat civilly in Penn Station.

We had a quick lunch here before we boarded our train. Really good food - I had the wings and my husband had a Reuben. We both enjoyed our food and the service was very good. The manager seemed to be everywhere, making sure people were waited on, tables cleaned etc. You could really tell that the typical NYC service and attitude would not be tolerated here!

Great place for lunch as you are waiting for your long distant Amtrak Train (my my case, the Silver Meteor to Florida). The Reuben was good, with toasted bread rather than greasy grilled bread, the onion rings above average, the cole slaw good. What makes this place is that they actually do a good job with their cocktails (which they have an extensive list) like the Manhattan that I had, though they call it the New York, New York and they use Woodford Reserve. It's going to be my "go to" spot in Penn Central when I want a sit down meal.

A bit overpriced for what you get. Big bun small contents.. an ok stop for a quick beer but not for a suit down family meal.

Excellent food and customer service! I ordered the French Onion soup and their newly added fresh made ravioli filled with veggies in a light mushroom cream sauce. My friend got the penna vodka. Delicious! Everything! We only had 30 minutes before catching Amtrack back to CT. Everyone was do gracious to ensure we'd be all set, and they were right. They took care of us, timely and with excellent service. Visited yesterday, 8/24/16 at 6:10. Great job!!!

What a wonderful experience! I have to say that I did not have high expectations but the food & super service by our server Evi, and the hostess, Yajaira, who were so pleasant, obliging and helpful was a pleasant surprise! The rest of the servers were very polite and professional too! All in all, very impressed! Highly recommend.

This is my go-to place when I am travelling by train in NYC. The restaurant staff is very friendly and the food is very good.

We travel to NYC quite frequently and this is a must for us to stop and eat. Our meals have always been fresh and delicious. We love the cream of spinach soup, the tomato basil soup, hamburgers and chicken club salad , chicken wings and vegetable neopolitan just to name a few. The staff is outstanding especially our waitress Evi who is my granddaughter's favorite.

In the name of fairness and accuracy I would rate this establishment 2.5 stars but the rating system does not seem to allow for half grades. My friends and I stopped by Kaboozer's for an impromptu pre-MSG event dinner. On the upside, the wait staff could not have been more pleasant or attentive. We were immediately greeted by an affable host who sat us promptly and the service throughout the meal was spot on. And now for the downside. The meals ran the gamut from an acceptable chicken Cesar salad wrap and a fairly tasty penne a la vodka with shrimp to a steak fajita dish and a chicken Ceaser salad plate that were nearly inedible due to the extreme overcooking of the steak and chicken. In fact, if the menu had advertised both as steak and chicken jerky, then perhaps the rubbery toughness of the meat could be forgiven, if not called for. Speaking of the menu, it advertised my salad as consisting of homemade/handmade mozzarella with tomato and basil. And I can attest with 100% assuredness that the cheese knew only the inside of a factory and was not as advertised. However, it was not without its charm as the basil was indeed fresh. The price tag fell in line with what one would expect at a NYC midtown eatery. The ambiance was pleasant enough and it was difficult to even tell that it was located in the bowels of Penn Station. Best advice, stick to the pasta meals as they seem to hold true to taste and form. Use caution when ordering any meal which centers around a protein source and pass altogether on the iced tea which had a disconcerting air of Palmolive about it. Or perhaps it was Joy...either way, Kaboozer's was not a top notch stop. But if you are not too picky about your food, the excellent service could be worth a drop by for a quick beverage before catching your next train to wherever.

Want to have a sit down meal rather than fast food while waiting in Penn Station for your train? Try Kabooz's. There is a very extensive menu to choose from. The night I was there my server brought my mea,l never to be seen again. I would have liked something additional. Could be just this one server/happening.

I never thought I would say I prefer a TGI Fridays to anywhere, but if you need a drink and/or to kill time at Penn Station, TGIF or this dump are your only options. And this IS A DUMP! You need the booze just to choke down their food. And the servers are all rejects from The Island Of Misfit Hooters Waitresses. Steer clear!

A friend and I met at Kabooz Bar and Grill for drinks after work the other night and had a very nice time. They can really mix a drink there and I felt it after two drinks. We shared the Kabooz Sampler which had boneless and bone in wings, mozzarella sticks, spring rolls and ribs and everything was delicious. The spring rolls were especially good. The service there is always really friendly and welcoming especially if you are dining with a regular.

We had dinner here on June 24,2025. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated. Our server was friendly and attentive. We order a couple of drinks. Erik had the Hendrick's Gin Fizz and Cheryl had the Lavender Kiss. The drinks arrived in a good time and were good. Erik ordered the Certified Angus Beef N.Y. Strip Steak Sandwich and Cheryl had the Vegan Beyond Cheddar Burger. The food arrived in a reasonable time and was well presented. Erik's burger was cooked to perfection (medium rare) and was delicious. Cheryl's burger was also delicious. This is a great restaurant inside Penn Station that we definitely will eat at again.

Been here twice before concerts.....food and service was excellent....both times we were waited on by John who we canât say enough good things about him....rest of staff also excellent making sure you have what you need....food we had so far has been excellent...nachos are beat we ever had as are short ribs, burgers....highly recommend this eatery

If you are early for your train and need somewhere comfortable to hang out this is it, comfy booths, a bar, friendly waiters and huge portions, plus a barđ We were an hour early and this was a great place to hang out, eat and have a drink. Food was ok, all we were asking. Not too pricey considering location.

Food is good and customer service is good if you go there to eat. If go go to the bar just to have drinks then their policy is not so great. I went there and had eight drinks at almost nine dollars a drink. I dd not get one buy back. I know from being in hospitaility that this is not mandatory and is just a courtesy thing to customers that are spending good money but still after 8 drinks I would think one would have been on the house.

Had only a short bit of time in NYC before travelling out on the train. I wanted something good, and quick. "The usual" was around there - Fridays and Nathans and Dunkin Donuts. I wanted something local. And, boy, did Kabooz's fit the bill! I was seated right away, and service was prompt and quick. I ordered their entree special - buttermilk fried chicken, mashed, and beans. Wow - it really was great, I truly enjoyed it very much! And, I was SO PLEASED that they were attentive and didn't forget about me. Being on a trains schedule is nerve wracking enough, but they really delivered here. The chef even came out and spoke with me for a moment - checking to be sure that I was pleased. I was hugely impressed overall with my visit, and would highly recommend them. It is worth going in to the train station to enjoy a meal here! The location, ambiance, friendly service, and fantastic food are worth it!!! I was really delighted!!!

We were looking for somewhere close by to grab some quick food before a show in Madison Square Garden. What a find - honestly the best burger and sweet potato fries I had during our stay in the city! And we tried a fair few! Bill was way cheaper than expected, service relaxed but attentive and loved the traditional xmas decs and warm atmosphere. Would have gone back but we didn't have chance. Next trip hopefully! Happy memories of this place.

Cery good food in particular kalmary. Negroni and old fashioned one of the best in my life. I recommend and greet Poland for Renata

Very rude bartender man who yelled at me. I came to the subsidiary bar of Kaboozs cocktails on September 9, 2024, on the first floor of Pennsylvania Station, next to the NJ transit ticket office. I sat down at a table and began to think about my choice. The bartender man at that time was standing behind the bar and yelling at me that I only had one minute to choose, and he did not even offer a menu. While I was thinking, a minute passed and the bartender began waving his hand and showing me the exit and yelled at the whole bar for me to go in the direction of the exit, pointing with his hand. I began to fear for my safety and decided to leave immediately. I was stressed and afraid for my safety. I have a proposal to the management - to select applicants for the job of bartenders better, to control their aggression and behavior, perhaps training is needed. Why is your bartender so aggressive?

This place in in the Amtrak area of Penn station. While it is in the midst of tourist traps this place is a local favorite. The locals (people who work at 1 Penn Plaza) and others frequent this place for pre-commute drinks and for lunch. They have the best nachos you will ever eat. The app sampler is a good choice for sharing. The lunch special is always worth it. The bar tenders make good drinks and the wait staff is courteous and quick. Try this place even if you are not taking the train.

We had a 4 hour ride back to Boston ahead of us and stumbled upon Kabooz's. We had a little over an hour to kill. This place is all "regulars" and the bartender knows them all by name. Don't go here expecting anything fancy. If you want a bite to eat and a cold drink before commuting/traveling - I'd stop here.

This is the best in Penn!!! Everyone is so welcoming!!! You can sit at the bar, table or people watch on their patio, concourse. Menu has everything!!!! Portions are abundant & fresh & the Chef even walks the restaurant greeting the guests & making sure all is good!!!! Now that's HOSPITALITY!!!!

Burger was fine, the cook came out and checked as he recalled putting on the wrong cheese! lol. no worries I ate it anyway. server was courteous just needs to check back sooner so as to ensure guests order more drinks during happy hour! place was clean food was above fast food. I'd eat here again.

We have never been so humiliated at Kabooz's until tonight! My co-writers and I have been coming here for some time and this evening we were finalizing a Broadway project coming this Fall and the manager came by and said "please do not do this at the bar!" We asked, "did we do something wrong!?!?" He had no answer but to throw around "I am the manager and please do not work at the bar" It was 10:15PM on August 22, 2018 and no one was even around for us to disturb. We were not acting in any ill manner but reviewing an upcoming Broadway show. We ordered food and drinks and needed a nice place to continue to be creative and feel welcomed. NO MORE. Such a disappointment in NYC. The theater company we are working with will no longer be doing business at Kabooz's and I encourage others not to. I also encourage the owner(s) to contact us. The bartenders apologized but how the manager made us feel was unacceptable. Looks like we are not the only ones thinking this as other reviewers complained about the manager in recent reviews.

The last time I ate here I thought the food and service were wonderful. This time the service was still good but the food was not the same. We came at a time when the kitchen was closing down for the evening and put our order in about ten minutes before it closed. The fried chicken special was good but not great and the appetizer platter my friend had was okay. The wings were excellent as usual but the egg rolls and the ribs tasted frozen and did not have much flavor. Not a great choice. Order the wings on their own. They are the best. The bartenders there are very friendly and personable.

We were on our way out to JFK, changing trains at Penn Station, and needed to get in a meal before we left JFK to Budapest. We had the beef chili and the quesadilla with steak, and both were very good. Don't know when I will be back in Penn Station, but if so, this will be on our list.

This is my 3rd time at Kaboozâs & somehow never took the time to review it yet. Just had a quick bite/drink earlier before my train back. I like the chill atmosphere, the booth, its never busy when i was there & the oldies / retro music playing. Confortable seating & plenty of options on the menu. Prices are very reasonable too I always found the waitresses/waiters to be very pleasant, attentive & professional. Today i had the vegetarian chilly & the New York New York for a cocktail. Last time there i remember i had the Brie dish & omg it was delicious too & a whole brie!!!! But for today - Both drink & chilly were very tasty & i enjoyed the flavors in the chilly. Just a much better option imo for a quiet sit down place vs fast food joint to go but again thats just my personal preference. Each time im in NYC & have some time before my train i make a stop there & will continue to do so! Thank you! Highly recommend for a low key comfortable quiet place.

The food is great and the service is very fast. The staff and manager are very friendly. Burgers are great. It has a bar, but I prefer to sit at a table in the back of the restaurant. I have been to this place several times, and I have never been disappointed.

I go throught Penn Station 4 times a week at least. I usually stop someplace else for a drink but today I decide to try this place. I can only speak on the bar here. On my second drink it was served to me in a glass that was chipped and rough on the edge where I could have cut myself. I over looked this because sometimes mistakes happen. On my next drink after the bartender took my money, he gave my change to someone else. He did not remember who he took the money from. I had a total of six drinks and thought I know it is not mandatory, not one buy back. That aside, a chipped glass and giving my change to the wrong person is not good customer service. Very bad bartending skills. Probably will not go there again

Good people And to wait for the train- Good !! Free wifi - N.Y STRIP AND The pasta đđđđđ..........................

Stopped in to order some food to go. The hostess was friendly and offered me a complimentary cocktail after she realized how disheveled I was from hours of walking in NYC heat. I highly recommend the short rib dinner with mashed potatoes and asparagus...everything was cooked to perfection.

We decided to have lunch before boarding a later train. We came across Kabooz's and read some reviews before deciding on this spot. From start to finish, we enjoyed the experience. The staff members (Rebecca, Daisy, and Joel) were friendly; the food, excellent; the music, the best. We even spoke to the manager about his own mix of tunes, praising his choices. Whenever we have occasion to be back at Penn Station, this will be our restaurant of choice, and we know good food because we both cook and like to dine out. Two people can dine here for what one might pay elsewhere. It is my birthday, and the manager enhanced our meal with Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday." We couldn't have asked for a better end to a few days of celebrating in NYC!

we went here to eat before the Muse Concert on 4/15. The same day as the Boston Bombings, with police and news all over the city. The waitress was EXTREMELY helpful! They were playing Muse's music, as a wonderful pre-concert warm up. The food was wonderful.

Had a couple of beers at the bar and the lady behind the bar gave me great service. Had the French Onion soup which was excellent. This bar is a much better option to kill time at Penn Station than TGIFridays.

Arriving at the station early looking for somewhere to sit we stumbled across this place. Looks nothing from the outside but go in and it's a great place. We were greeted by the owner a true New Yorker , full of character and asking about our trip shows we saw etc. The place was large ,clean and well decorated. It has monitors showing the train times in the bar area . We only had drinks but they were average prices for NY but the also have happy hours during the week . If your in Penn station and you have the time this is the place to hang out

Whenever I get a chance I go to Kabooz for the veggie quesadillas. The staff are terrific and so is the food. I highly recommend this establishment.

stopped here for dinner and to relax while waiting for a train...very comfortable, great prices, had fried calamari was very very good....very large portion... meant to have a drink but my head was too tired and opted for coffee instead...will stop here again next time i'm in penn station...it was a sunday evening....i sat in the outdoor seating because it felt like more space/more private/quieter than inside.....

Hidden between a few fast food stands, is Kabooz bar and grill. If you find yourself with time to burn between trains, the Saturday/Sunday brunch is must try. Food taste like home and the staff in welcoming ang friendly. Service was prompt, as I only had 45 minutes for breakfast. Home fries are totally delicious. Yummy!#

My opening words: "I've got a train to catch." No problem. By the time I was seated the very skilled wait staff had given me options and taken my order. A very excellent Cosmo arrived within two minutes and hot, cheesy, delicious French Onion Soup about five minutes later. Usually I hate restaurants that rush, but Kabooze is in Pennsylvania Station and they are obviously very used to hungry clients with twenty minutes to spare! The funny thing is I would eat here even if I wasn't waiting for a train! The Cosmo was well made and strong, and the soup was beefy and sweet. Generous with the cheese and a yummy piece of Garlic butter-toasted ciabatta. And I Mae the train without drama!

Waiting for a train at Penn station, we wandered into Kaboozes at noon and got great salads fresh and generous. Barbecue ribs and burgers were tasty and big Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were typical N Y pub about 20$ for lunch but a nice sit down lunch with excellent pub food

I have been coming to Kabooz for years as this my best friends place to hang out when she is in New York. She also knows the entire staff. We had drinks and appetizers while sitting in the restaurant which is still at a 25% capacity. It was really nice as the drinks are so well made and they do not skip on the alcohol and we ad the Buffalo Chicken Wings. . The wings were plump and well cooked and had a lot of flavor to them. They are deep fried and served with a very nice hot sauce and sour cream. They are really good. The service is always friendly and since the entire staff knows my friend, it is even better.

Five of us met at Kabooz's for lunch, calling ahead. Although they do not take reservations they said they would try to keep a large table available -- and they did! Manager was very nice and did not rush us as we sat and talked for about two hours! They even brought a small treat when it was disclosed that one person in our party was having a birthday! Each person enjoyed his food too. Kabooz's is on the Amtrack Level in Penn Station.

Had low expectations for a restaurant in the middle of a busy train station, but we were very surprised by the quality of the food and the service. The manager and waitstaff were all over us, making sure everything was to our liking, leveling the rocky table, and just generally acting like they had customer service training earlier in the day. The food was on par with any higher quality restaurant. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again if I find myself at Penn Station.
New Go to Spot at Penn Station
We usually get a quick bite at a deli or small shop. We decided to take a chance at Kabooze, and were happy with our choice. I had a special, eggplant parm sandich with sides. My wife had a salmon club sandwich but took off the bacon. Sweet potato fries, cole slaw and potato salad were also tasty. Both meals were very good. Service was attentive. Adding my Stella Rtois on tap and her drink made for a nice dinner and not too expensive by NYC standards.
