No black beans or rice here. This is nothing but innovative Mexican true cuisine. Service fabulous. Ask for Chris to be your server. Our adult family of 5 (40s to 80s) ate here after going to The Edge. It is small plates in large part but get a lot and pass around these splendid adventures in Mexican food. Great atmosphere. From the moment the hostess greeted us until we left, It was one of the best and most fun dining experiences I can remember which is helped largely by the decor, atmosphere, music and, of course, the food. A bonus: ask what happened to Bruno (the chandelier).

This was our second visit to this restaurant. We went two years ago and when we returned to NYC for a graduation, it was the first place we thought of to celebrate. It is located in the popular Chelsea area, and easy to get to. The experience was not a disappointment! We had a comfortable table in the main room that has a lively atmosphere. The food was even better than two years ago. Every appetizer and main that we ordered was delicious. Finally, because it was a graduation, the staff gave us complimentary tequila shots, which was a fun surprise. Next time we are in NYC, we will be going again!

My wife and I ate here with friends a while back, and had a good meal before attending a performance at The Shed in Hudson Yards. This time, we walked out after speaking with our waitress, and then the manager. My wife made the reservation because I need gluten-free food, and the menu offers it. But it seemed like bait and switch: chips and guacamole? Waitress said the chips were not gluten-free. What? Corn chips not gluten-free? I suggested they buy a couple of big bags at the nearby Whole Foods. The single taco on the menu, shrimp, at $27.99, identified as gluten-free? It's not really gluten-free said the waitress -- she suggested the fish, at $46. Really? I asked to speak with the manager. He repeated what the waitress said. My wife and I put on our coats, and said that maybe they should be honest with the menu. They said "Sorry." We went nearby, inside the Hudson Yards food court, and had tacos -- all gluten-free -- at $4.95 each, and chips and guacamole, gluten free, too.

Visiting NYC for our son’s 40th Birthday, we met up at Kahlo, a modern Mexican cuisine restaurant for dinner on an evening drizzling on and off. First if you are taking a cab or Uber, make sure they stop at the corner of 29 and 10th Ave. Ours didn’t and lucky for us Bibi at the front check-in walked a block over to find us and guide us in. Lovely entrance with a huge flower wall. We walked to the bar and had cocktails before our table was ready. Once our table was ready Mario V was our server and helped by others. The Manager was also there and was really nice to give us a special toast for the Birthday chocolate cake. We ordered the Guac El Charro, Molotes Trio and Lobster Coctal. All great. Then prawns’ side salas, 2 steaks, queso fresco and the Branzino which was amazing. Also Mole de Pollo and tuna Tostadas. Excellent service and food. We weren’t rushed and when we left, we took some more pictures. A great choice and strongly recommend

Absolutely beautiful food showcasing fresh ingredients. The service we received was 5 star! The guacamole will blow your mind! Our meals were absolutely divine and one of our friends who is both gluten and dairy free was accommodated. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be returning.

Kahlo is a stylish restaurant, with a sleek look and striking bar. (The Kahlo motif itself seems limited to a couple of pictures of the restaurant’s muse.) And the dishes, mostly small plates, are attractive. Some look better than they taste, though. The La Dona guacamole and lobster crudo were clear winners. The chicken with mole and arroz verde and the arrachera steak, however, had neither the bold spicing nor the subtlety of high-end Mexican cooking. Our meal ended with an uninspired tres leches cake.

If Hudson Yards restaurant menu prices turn you off, as they do my wife and me, and if you like Mexican food, head for Kahlo, a couple of blocks away. Gluten-free is easy here and the Guac is tasty and unusual, but they could have provided more chips for a table of four. Tacos were full of flavor, but next time I'd skip the dry and tiny black truffle rounds for $10 extra. The fish and pork loin were very well received. Wine in bottles lacked options under $75, but was affordable by the glass. Standard Margaritas were, strangely, not on the drinks menu, but were available on request and very satisfying. We'll be back next time we have theatre tickets at the Griffin at the Shed.

Beautiful place and lovely staff. The food was great, though not a plate full of traditional Mexican food- it was more modern and inventive. Ended the meal with the trendy espresso martini which was great. Kind of pricey (two drinks + tip was 40$) but a lovely time, nonetheless!

Very happy to recommend. The chicken was unbelievable. Very nice place, good food and good service. I cannot comment on the consistency of the food but I have a feeling that it is probably consistently good. You can tell by the details that is will be reliably good.

The food and service was impeccable. We were a table 6 on a Friday night. Place was busy with multiple large tables. I hesitate to cal this a Mexican restaurant because that may mislead one to think of traditional Mexican food. This is gourmet dining with a chef who understands and delivers food with a South of the Border flair. For instance I had the duck and it was fantastic

Excellent food and service. Beautiful restaurant and bar. Had fish tacos, branzino, and mango guacamole. Drinks great too

We had am outstanding business dinner our server was ok, but Carrie is extraordinary she just had a passion the way she express her self presenting the food.We already had in mind to get some tacos for the table some how she change our mind convinced us to try the lamb chop's , steak and the mole. It was the best we are definitely coming back.

The restaurant was beautiful, the staff was attentive and helpful. I had the huitlacoche empanadas, mole enchiladas and the tamarind mocktail. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend.

Great tacos with fresh ingredients. Smiley staff. Pleasant atmosphere. Shame wine list is only has limited (i.e. 1 of each) US and Mexican options...

In the New Hudson Yards area lies an amazing place for Really Delicious Tapas! Lovely Decor... entrance lined with vases of tropical flowers, brings you into a warm, inviting, romantic, cozy dining space with a huge gorgeous chandelier that grounds the room. What an amazing feeling in this restaurant! Staff are friendly and make you feel at home. They’ll go over the menu with you.. as each item is a culinary work of art! Freshest of ingredients... try them all! A fav are their Tuna Tacos, Coconut filled with Lobster and Corn in the Cob with Truffle & Parmesan! Wonderful is all I can say! Desserts are Special, for sure! Leave room! They have an enormous wood bar and make terrific cocktails! You will be coming back !!! Kahlo is a must! Just love this place!

My expectations of the restaurant started off pretty high. The guacamole and chips were on point and tasted great. I liked the charred topping as it made the guacamole unique. And the chips were seasoned which was a nice surprise. We also got the Berros salad and the dressing was very refreshing and was above our expectations. The black truffle esquites was disappointing. I didn't even taste any truffle in it. After that, the food started to become a bit disappointing. The empanada crust was too thick and the filling was very under seasoned and felt a bit undercooked. The plant based tacos were also very under seasoned and didn't meet expectations. I will say the ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. They've spent a lot of time and effort making it trendy. The seats are comfortable and the colors in the restaurant are very welcoming. The staff was also very nice and friendly.

Amazing food but tainted by slow and inconsiderate service on the front side of the restaurant. We walked in around 12:30 on Saturday to an EMPTY restuarant and were quickly seated in very comfortable plush green chairs. The lead waiter, with trainee (?) in tow, asked if we wanted any drinks or water and he offered a couple types of bottled water. I said NYC tap water was excellent and that would be fine. The look on his face was like he tasted some ceviche that was "off." When we placed our order: cochinita pibil tacos, molletes & chorizo, and pan frances with a side of agave glazed bacon, the waiter asked if we wanted any guacamoles to start with. I politely said "were fine, thank you", shook my head no and waved it off with my left hand. Three clear signals. He then asked again and began describing it. I then had to actually make hard eye contact and bluntly say "NO." He abruptly turned around and walked off. About 25 LONG minutes later our food arrived from the kitchen (remember this was an empty restuarant when we sat down and ordered). The food plating on all three was carefully produced by skilled staff in the back side of the restaurant. My pulled pork taco was excellent. The braised pork with sour orange was very well balanced by the pickled onion and subtle habanero. The vegetable consommé was full flavored and had a nicely wicked kick to it. Serving size was dissappointingly small though. The 3 tiny tacos provided 9 polite bites.... and enjoyment of the consommé was delayed because no spoon was provided. The other plates were equally well executed and the side of bacon was truly generous. This was when things got worse. The plates were removed and we asked for our check. We waited. A couple of guest arrived and they were seated and we sat. The waiter took the other party's order and then entered the order. We sat. The lead waiter asked if we would like anything else and I replied "We needed to get out of here." I think he took offense to this because instead of printing our check, he stood around the station and talked with his trainee. He then took an order from another party. I made eye contact with the waitress and asked for the check again. The check was finally delivered. I apologize to the waitress, the trainee and the backside staff for the tip I left. But, it was appropriate for the assinine service I received from the lead waiter. The bill was for $69 and change. I left $70. I would normally leave a $15 tip. We just wanted some quality food but we got served a heaping plate of attitude.

We’ve been to Kahlo several times and always have enjoyed ourselves. Food is delicious as are the cocktails, service is good and on Friday nights there is a fantastic 6 man mariachi band (not certain this is every Fri night though). Nice atmosphere and definitely would recommend!

Presentation of food was great and felt very high class. Though I feel like some dishes I really did expect more like their skirt steak. Overall the experience was good. I did appreciate that they had mocktail drinks especially the Horchata that seemed like it didn't have milk which is great for me being lactose intolerant.

The food is good. Fresh ceviche. It’s very pretty and a great location close to the Shed. The drink and Tequila menu is confusing and hard to read in the dark. I think the server should have confirmed that I was ordering 3 shots of Herradura at $90 each. Sticker shock to say the least. I would have rated 5 but for this mishap.

Fantastic delightful restaurant- so well decorated and the most comfortable chairs we’ve ever experienced in a restaurant- food was equally impressive- outstanding guacamole options ( have never seen that before) - delicious! Main courses were perfect. And around the corner from the Shed

We thought it was convenient because it is literally under the Microscope gallery, but it wasn’t good. Extremely disappointed at their allergy knowledge. Seemed like the waitress didn’t fully know what gluten was. Made us feel unsafe, saying the menu was all “gluten free” but then “some items had gluten”. Like do they even know what gluten is? We ended up choosing things we thought were safe. Food and drinks were really good, but definitely overpriced for this service scheme. .Obviously they did not have a gluten free dessert or the nougat pepper advertised in their site.

In town to celebrate my daughters 40th and my 65th. We sat at the bar for cocktails and enjoyed so much we decided to stay there for dinner. Every recommendation by the the bartenders was perfection. Edward (Eduardo ?) is amazing! He did not lead us wrong. Best Tres Leches we have ever had to top off a great meal. Don’t miss this hidden gem.

My family and I have just returned from a 5 day break in New York and whilst there we sampled many of the delights associated with the the State. We also found out that our eldest had passed her degree in Vet Med the same day so decided to look for a Vegan friendly restaurant that was perhaps different from the others we had tried - and what a find this turned out to be. Now, over the proceeding few days we had dinned in several restaurants whereby the service was good, just too quick for the way we have been used to eat in Europe, but we get that this was New York. From the moment we entered the place it had that “Wow” factor”. The interior was well laid out, the place had a great buzz and the lady at the reception gave us all a warm welcome. Having been seated , a very polite man guided us through the menu as the food was excitingly different to what we were use to. We had Tuna Tostadas and a winter salad to start and this was more than enough for the four of us. We then had Los Carbos, “Arrachera” Steak and a couple of Veggie “Carnitas” which all turned out to be amazing. The Cod was perfectly seasoned , the steak at medium rare was just incredible and the Carnitas were just as good ( so I am told) by my wife and daughter. My eldest is Vegan which made it rather had to find a fine dinning restaurant within walking distance from our hotel but this was exactly what we had been looking for. We have eaten in some of the top restaurants in London and it is not an underestimation to say that this was on par with any Michelin Star restaurant we have dined at in the last few years. I was outvoted on the wine although we settled on a white and it was lovely and chilled and complemented the girls meals. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who wished for an excellent evening out, not rushed with amazing food and a great atmosphere.

Fantastic high end Mexican food in a great location - around the corner from The She’s in Hudson Yards - food is gorgeous and delicious A wait staff are excellent- can’t do enough

Sadly we have been here before and this was the worse experience by far. Small drinks & over priced food. Children running around the restaurant. The food is usually great and drinks are amazing…but not this time.

You have to walk in with set expectations. It is an upscale Mexican restaurant, not necessarily your weekly go-to when you’re craving some Mexican food after work. The price is high, the portions are small but the quality of the food is good. The ambiance and space is nice. The service was a little spotty for us and needs some work, especially for an upscale place off Hudson Yards. It’s a bit further west if you’re not in the area already. If you’re in the mood for a nice meal with a date or friends to celebrate an occasion, give it a try.

We’ve been to Kahlo several times for brunch, and it has never disappointed. The menu is authentic Mexican and everything is fresh. We haven’t tried it for dinner yet since the menu is heavy on seafood, which I’m allergic to.

I organized a team dinner for 14 colleagues tonight. I worked with Sarah at Kahlo NYC by Hudson Yards. It was a beautiful night so they accommodated us outside in their outdoor structure. It’s a busy street but we had a great time. Due to the size of our party we had to choose a Pre Fixe menu. I was skeptical for the price but the menu was eclectic and delicious. It was served family style. Food was authentic, fresh, warm when needed and beautifully presented. Cocktails were unique and the servers were very attentive. The atmosphere was fun with music indoors that carried outdoors. The place was packed and had a great vibe. Definitely recommend!!

Located in a quiet area of Chelsea, between 10th and 11th Ave. On a Sunday evening it wasn't busy. Tables were too close together, we were bothered by our neighbor tables guest who were too noisy. Friendly service. Waiters of different styles. Food supposed to be New Mexican i.e. modern Mexican. Not the state of New Mexico. Yes, the food tasted slightly different. More refined. But the portions were kind of small. Prices on Manhattan level. All in all ok.

The service is fantastic. The food is not bad, but nothing to brag about - at least not the mole we ordered. Nice decor and ambience.

Ambiance? Fantastic! Wait staff? Amazing. Food? Impeccable! This was an awesome dining experience. The place in trendy and the food presentation is sexy! You’ll be glad you stopped by.

I found the restaurant on a magazine recommendation. We had a great culinary experience! All the food was really fresh and with a variety of notes and textures. We tried the tuna, the scallops, the guacamole and some tacos. Bite after bite we discovered a high end Mexican food in a romantic and classy space in the heart of Chelsea. Service was fast and cocktails fascinating!

My niece, who's very hip to the NYC dining scene, recommended this stylish Hudson Yards spot, and we are very grateful to her. From beginning to end, our experience was a delight! We were welcomed warmly by the gracious and attentive staff. The cocktails and the food were inventive and delicious. Our favorites were the "Elote" (corn with truffle aioli--my son was in heaven), tacos al pastor (with shrimp), and organic chicken with mole. And their chocolate mousse cake is out of this world! We'll be back again and again!

They say you can’t get solid Mexican food in NYC, I’ll call BS on that statement because we had a nice meal, higher end for sure. The drink list was very solid and if you like tequila they’ll be there for you! If you want a good Mexican joint that won’t break the bank while still brining a more upscale experience, come to Kahlo after your high line adventure comes to an end!
Lovely atmos, fabulous food, spectacular cocktails
I went here with the family. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food and the drinks. Cocktails with an interesting twist, tapas that were novel. Overall a great eating experience.
