This is an amazing restaurant , not alone from the quality of the food which is second to none but also for the excellent and friendly service from PauI,Liz and their staff. The whole place has a great atmosphere that makes a great night out. Be you a local or a visitor this is a must place for Lunch,Brunch or Dinner

The most charming restaurant to have high tea in Manhattan. Excellent service, perfect selection of open sandwiches, scones with fresh cream, strawberries dipped in chocolate, and petit fours. But it is the setting where this takes place that nakes this a unique experience.

My daughter treated me to tea at King's Carriage House - what a treat! The teapots are quaint and wonderful. The ambience was lovely - an intimate manor house, as was the service. We were well taken care of. The chicken salad on cranberry bread was my favorite, followed by the smoked salmon pinwheels. The chocolate dipped strawberries (dark chocolate!) were huge! The presentation was lovely and we really enjoyed getting out of the rain for a lovely cuppa!

I first discovered KING'S CARRIAGE HOUSE from friends who were very excited to be taking me there. It is an absolute FIND. A limited menu restaurant with service LIKE YOU REMEMBER where DINING is KING! ( No pun intended ). We were greeted so warmly and seated quickly so we could settle in. We were upstairs in the RED room which was beautiful, elegant, and welcoming. There wasn't a need that wasn't seen to and the food and the drinks were phenomenal! And the Irish Coffee!!! But you better watch out...Paul Ferrell, one of the owners is from IRELAND! 'Nough said! The were very "healthy" so we all stopped at one... :) This is the kind of place where you take someone special. It is quiet, intimate, personal...everything DINING should be.

We were a party of 5 going for Sunday afternoon tea celebrating my sister's birthday. I had just gotten back from a trip to England where I had also experienced afternoon "tea" for a much steeper price, and the scones at King's Carriage House were WAY ore delicious. It's an old quaint brownstone on the Upper East Side, great neighborhood (wish I could live there) with antique decor and tea pots. It's NOT the Plaza or the Ritz - but you're not paying their prices either. This is a different wonderful type of experience. It's a great price, nice afternoon, and the loveliest people you could ever meet. The maitre d' was soooo friendly, as was the owner. They even put a candle in a cookie for my sister as soon as they overheard us say it was her birthday.

We had dinner at this restaurant and it was awesome - three courses for $49 dollars. Great selection i had the portobello mushroom/goats cheese terrine and the fillet mignon followed by creme brulee - my partner had the shrimps, lamb with chick pea chips and finished with warm strawberry crumble! I had read the lunch reviews but as we could only go for dinner wasnt sure BUT- the ambiance, food and service were of a really high quality and the price seems on the low side for the offering. Worth a visit - even on a warm sultry thursday night the ambiance was great and it was busy - so maybe better to make a reservation.

We have been to many tea rooms around the city and found this tea room to be so lovely. We had the afternoon tea and mini sandwiches, scones and pastries. The food was excellent!! The service was again, better than expected.

I found Kings' Carriage House on line. It is a longtime resident of a brownstone on E. 82nd St. providing a prix fix dinner menu at $50.00 which includes an appetizer, main course with sides and dessert. I was stunned at how reasonable the price seemed and delightedly pleased with the value they give. The intriguing menu consisted of 5 or 6 offerings in each course category. We sampled the duck and the lamb, both beautifully prepared by an obviously talented and imaginative chef. I was totally amazed at how quiet the restaurant was, in spite of the fact that the 1st floor room tables were filled (but nicely spaced out). The wait staff was very gracious and attentive but not hovering and we were not hurried at all. The second and third floors were being renovated but we were treated to a preview. It was everything I had hoped it would be as part of a granddaughter's college graduation trip introduction to the good life in New York. We were there in June, 2015. More info? Check the web.

Dined there Saturday Night - DO NOT RECOMMEND !!!! The menu items were cheapened - lamb shank instead of Lamb chops - most of the wines not available and worst of all the waitress after 20 minutes of explanations and going over and over the order got it wrong and one of our party had no dinner !!!! we complained and then cancelled her dinner - which they then brought we did say we refused to pay the full amount of that meal - so they did adjust the bill - there was NO-ONE in the restaurant on a Saturday night - wont be there long - wont be missed !!!!

Very charming place, discreet, and like stepping into a bit of England upon entry. The sandwiches and sweets were tasty, tea was good, and service extremely friendly and accommodating. I went with my friend and her 6-year old and 3-year old daughters and the wait staff were all very patient and accommodating with the kids...very classy. They don't use Devonshire cream, the only disappointment. And they give you everything at once instead of in stages. But overall very nice.

We took a break from the Met and walked 15 for high tea. It was the most affordable tea I could find in NYC and it was worth every penny. The setting is a brownstone with several decorated rooms. We were served by the Irish owner who was super friendly and helpful. The tea was delicious. If soft bread on cucumber sandwiches is an important than you will be disappointed but there was such a nice selection and all tasted so good.

My wife and I met up with some friends recently in NYC and they suggested King's Carriage House. From the moment we walked into the place, we were treated like royalty. We each chose an appetizer, entree, and a dessert. Everything was super fresh and prepared to perfection. And although we had a number of different entrees, our waitress managed to pick a great bottle of wine that went with all of them exceptionally well. A wonderful dining experience! Can't wait to go back again.

I have held several teas at Kings Carriage House. The house itself is charming. The service is excellent and the food offerings are tasty and original. I look forward to my return.

We loved this small cozy place. My daughter and I were celebrating her law school graduation, and we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Our server was attentive and friendly, but not bothersome. Great food.

New York City is full of the world's greatest restaurants, from food to ambiance to service to owners to location. I travel the world and eat out all the time. One of my all time favorites is the absolutely delightful and exquisite King's Carriage House. Be it lunch, brunch, afternoon tea, dinner or a private event like a bridal party, you must visit this charming place. As soon as you enter, you leave the hustle and bustle of 82nd street behind and you experience an enthralling feeling of going back in time and visiting someone's gorgeous home. The decor is lovely and so attractive. The owners Paul Farrell and Elizabeth King and all the folks that work there make you feel like member of their family. As you move through the beautiful townhouse, you get raptured by the ambience, though the best is yet to come. The food and service are the very best anywhere I have been, as every bite is tantalizing to your taste and serve in a eye-catching way that you cannot wait for the next course. My only warning is that you will need to remember how to get to the King's Carriage House because you will make this impeccable experience part of your dining choices whether you are a New Yorker or one of New York City's great visitors. Make this your special place. You will love it.

Would never recommend it, the food was bad (found plastic in a sandwich), and the manager of the establishment made it a point to try and get a larger tip out of our group and make a scene. Completely disrespectful and unacceptable for this kind of behavior toward a paying customer in an establishment.

After a morning visiting the Met, it was nice to relax with afternoon tea. The room we were seated in was cozy with yellow walls and blue willow china. We, along with seveal other patrons of the restaurant, had a Groupon for the champagne tea. The sandwiches were fresh and tasty and the scones were very good although the cream didn't taste like real Devonshire cream to me. The owner came by to check that everything was to our liking. It was tea bag tea, but flavorful all the same. All in all, it was a nice respite in a busy day.

Visited this quaint little place today for the first time and was very impressed. The English Tea was very well presented and tasty with a lovely choice of teas With the eats ranging from dainty sandwiches to warm scones with jam and cream to to tasty little fancy cakes, overall a great choiced and would go back again.

I just hosted a bridal shower at Kings' Carriage House. The room we had was charming and perfect for a small party. There were beautiful floral arrangements on each table. It felt as if we were at someone's house. Our first course was a warm brie puff with lingonberry compote. We had 2 choices of entrees, pan-seared salmon and free range chicken and each was delicious. The Belgian truffle cake with ginger creme Anglaise and fresh raspberries was decadent. The service was excellent and I found the prices very fair. The restaurant has rooms upstairs, and serves lunch and dinner in addition to catering to private parties.

I took a friend for Afternoon Tea and was disappointed in the quality of the food.. It was expensive and not worth the visit. The place has charm, but years ago it was much better.

This was a special occasion and we wanted everyone to be happy. We called ahead to ask if they could accommodate a picky eater. The chef/owner came to our table to ask what my daughter would eat. She convinced her to try risotto and made her something off the menu. Success! Everyone else was very happy as well. The filet mignon was perfect and the desserts were delicious. We love this restaurant.

We spend a great Friday evening at the carriage house. It is a good value fixed price menu with a very reasonable wine list. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The staff and particularly the owner were friendly but respectful. Overall a great character filled experience. I would recommend and will definitely go back.

The absolute worst tea I have ever been to, I have never been so massively disappointed. First, I emailed them to make reservation as per the instructions on their website, after several hours of no reply I finally called and was able to get one on the day I wanted. They then emailed me back two days later while I was already on my way to say that they’d seat me at 4pm that day. No apology for the massive delay in response, I told them I already had a reservation since I hadn’t heard back from them. Upon arrival they lure you in by placing lovely blue and white china table settings at the outside tables, but what you get inside is a bunch of plain white coffee cups and plates from crate and barrel, not a good impression at all. We ordered our teas and when the single tea setting arrived with the tiniest portions I have ever seen, I asked our waiter if that was really all the food and he said yes, that this was a proper British tea. I dare them to serve what we got to any British person. I have had tea in the UK, this was a disgrace to afternoon tea. The menu sounds nice but it is truly terrible. The finger sandwiches are about 1/8th of an inch wine and have completely stale bread, their fillings are also incredibly bland. The “mango goat cheese tartlet” is in no way, shape, or form, a tartlet. It, along with their smoked salmon pinwheels and egg salad, are on more stale pieces of bread that are about the size of a quarter, none of which tasted good. Their desserts are also the size of quarters and are not consistent: some where smushed, some where iced, others were not. You get two small raisin scones each and they were also bland. For $30 you get 1 of each of these tiny things, 2 very smalls scones, and a pot of okay tea from a very limited selection. I would have expected more tea choices from a place that touts themselves as a tea house. My friends and I left very hungry and very unhappy. It is immensely overpriced for what you get and not at all enjoyable. The service is also terrible, after I asked the waiter if that was really all the food, he ignored us for the rest of the time we were there, it was nearly impossible to get his attention to even get the check. Upon leaving no on asked us how things were, if we enjoyed ourselves, or even said goodbye or have a nice day. If you want a miserable, mediocre, overpriced tea then come here. If you want to enjoy yourself go to Alice’s Tea Cup (like we did after leaving here and we had an immensely wonderful time there), Tea and Sympathy, or literally anywhere else in Manhattan. 0/10.

This restaurant used to be so charming with good food and atmosphere. Unfortunately something is going on there. My company was scheduled to have our annual holiday party there this evening. The restaurant never took our deposit, never sent a confirmation and never asked us to indicate menu choices. We called repeatedly to no response so we had to change restaurants st the last minute I gave been there several times in the past but my assumption at this point is that they are in bad shape and going under. I cannot recommend this restaurant whatsoever

We went to afternoon tea. It was very nice. It was not a fancy hotel or anything that I love all different rooms. And it was a lot cheaper then the high-end places. My favorite sandwich was the chicken. And the scones were really yummy. It was a little too much food so all the desserts we took it home. I definitely recommend it.

Incredible! Has the feel of a quaint B&B with 7 small tables in the ground floor dining room & 4 bigger tables in an upstairs dining room. Menu is prix fixe with food that is heavenly (lump crab, striped bass, venison, duck) and presentation that is impeccable. Great for a date!

This tiny NY city restaurant probably needs reservations well in advance. Our party of twelve colleagues were celebraing a very productive three day meeting and couldn't have been more pleased with service and food. The decor is delightful and our upper private room perfect for relaxing and conversing. And an added bonus for this gluten free diner was the very accomodating attention to my order. i look forward to future visits.

Really nothing we did not like about this place. It is cozy and charming and the people are very nice and attentive. Great value for money (3 course menu for $50) - we enjoyed every course. The restaurant itself is rather small and with decorated in a proper old english fashion. we also thought it was very romantic - so we would definitely recommend this for couples.

King's Carriage House at 251 E 82nd Street, in New York City is truly Fine Dining at its BEST. Dinner has a $49.00 prix fixe menu and the excellent Wine List is sure to help make this an expensive evening. But if you're looking for spectacular food, and impeccable friendly service in a petite, charming, romantic setting where you can actually hold a conversation without shouting, then this is the place for you. There were four in our party and we all loved everything about this place. The soups and salads were wonderful but the wild salmon was beyond wonderful. It rates as one best meals we've ever had in a restaurant and we eat out a lot. The deserts are great too. It's a perfect place for that special occasion. We will be back for sure.

I've been a New Yorker for years and while we are spoiled for choice in terms of restaurants, every once in awhile one comes across a treasure such as King's Carriage House. A friend of mine wanted to take me to lunch and I said, "surprise me" and he certainly did! King's Carriage House is a charming restaurant on two floors in an old carriage house on the east side of NYC in the low 80's. It is a beautifully appointed restaurant (Irish Georgian) and the food and service are equally exceptional. The selections on the menu are varied and all the items we had that day, from starters through dessert were beautifully prepared and presented. The wine list is also very well-chosen with a variety of choices at reasonable prices. The owners, Paul Farrell and Liz King are charming and clearly love what they do and make you feel very much a guest in a small inn. We had a very leisurely lunch and I commented to my friend that it was so special that I felt I had been away on vacation in Europe. There a lots of good restaurants in NY but King's Carriage House is very special. It is not to be missed!

This restaurant is somewhat nondescript from the street and you're hard pressed to find the sign bearing it's name. Upon entering the first impression is that it's cramped and slightly 'rabbit-warren-ey.' But we were shown to the first floor back room dining area that was quite comfortable and romantic. We were there on a Saturday night during a severe thunderstorm. Unfortunately for the owners, the weather kept most diners at home and we shared the cozy room with only two other couples. Fortunately for us, it made for excellent service and a laughing camaraderie in the dining room every time thunder struck. The food was quite tasty with well cooked meat dishes served with tasty sauces and accompanied by good wine and a genial atmosphere. Apart from the trickiness of finding the place, it's frustrating that the restaurant's web site gives virtually no information, not even a menu. But what awaits is far better than what was expected. We'd like to have dinner there again, hopefully in better weather, and would definitely like to try the afternoon tea!

This was our first visit to this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. The only thing lacking was a liquor license due to the church 2 doors away but we were quite happy with wine. The staff was attentive but not overboard. We ordered salmon and the striped bass and both were quite good. Corn chowder for an appetizer was outstanding and so were the desserts. A great value for $49 prix fixe in NYC. A definite return trip in our future.

I traveled in from Connecticut with a confirmed appointment of 11:30 a.m. with Paul to discuss using the venue for my daughter's upcoming bridal shower. (I confirmed the appointment with Elizabeth, the owner, previously.) I was told by a worker that Paul was not there yet but to sit and wait. He served me tea but no food. I waited an hour while he attempted to contact Paul but to no avail. I had no contact with him whatsoever in that long hour's wait. When I went to use the lavatory before departing, there were no hand towels to use, so I had to use toilet paper to dry my hands. I expected to get an email or phone call of apology when I got home, but none came. This is no way to run an establishment. I would suggest that anyone thinks twice before booking an event here.

Lovely townhouse atmosphere and very good food. Can be a little pricey if you add on all the extras.

Very fitting English tea setting for a shower. Decor is delightful, service is good and everything is miniature. Finger sandwiches are delicious and tea itself is full of aroma. Enjoyed champagne as well. The warning is that adorable upstairs room is quite tight, works for shower, but would not for anything bigger. Service was friendly. The only downside was some leaking from air conditioner which is not unusual in summer, but unfortunate. Overall everyone enjoyed tea and atmosphere, and tight quarters made it a more intimate experience.

If you love afternoon tea service with good food and charming ambiance this is The place. Great for family and friends

The experience and service was excellent from start to finish! Attended friends baby shower there this weekend upstairs and loved every minute of it! Service was great and we didn't feel rushed out the door. The little tea sandwiches were very tasty, ambiance was very nice, quaint. Would certainly go back again for another "spot of tea" My only regret is, I forgot to hold my pinky out while drinking my tea! :-)

A beautiful little "townhouse" restaurant- gorgoeus fresh flowers- spotless interior- cozy and welcoming with brass candelesticks and great ambience. Several beautifully decorated small dining rooms. Food was delcious- expertly prepared and plated to perfection! Our waiter- Allen was gracious and so efficient. Dont miss the filet mignon- the pea soup- the chopped salad and the sublime desserts! A lovely evening- highly recommend it- can't wait to return!

One of the greatest things about dining in New York City is the joy of savoring other eras. The original structure of King's Carriage House is in fact a carriage house dating from the mid 1800s. The restoration and attention to detail is first rate. Service, food quality, and wine was terrific. We each had the double cut Berkshire pork Chop which was tasty, tender, and delicious. Paul, the owner, takes his mission seriously. A Chianti Riserva was exquisite. One of the greatest features of this eatery is it's "pacing." All courses were serviced in a timely manner which always enhances the culinary experience. It's not all about turn over at this sophisticated, charming Upper East Side eatery. "We shall return!" My daughter and I had Afternoon Tea here one rainy afternoon. It was WONDERFUL! Great service and the best proper English Afternoon Tea I've ever had! Very unique atmosphere. Wonderful attention to detail - fresh roses on the tables and exceptional service. The food was exceptional and unique. I will be returning here on my next trip to New York City. A little hidden gem!

Warm lovely atmosphere, especially appreciated on a cold rainy afternoon.. The scones were sublimely flaky and buttery. Sesame chicken salad sandwiches were amazing. The service was excellent.Highly recommended.

This is one of my husband and my favorite places to go, particularly in fall/winter. The prix fixe always has great options, it's a reasonably good deal (for manhattan), the food is always dependable and very good. The service and ambience can't be beat for a country inn - meets manhattan type feel; one of the more distinctive spots in the neighborhood for sure. We tend to go for special occasions - while the price isn't prohibitive, it's got that type of feel to it. Highly recomended. Have taken several couples along for their first time there and always gets rave reviews. Don't suggest it for large groups.

The ambiance is unique. The service is exceptional. The food is mediocre.

We had a superb late lunch here ( also very good value). We had just come from Times Square and the contrast could not have been greater. The service was excellent and the food likewise. All dishes were of the highest quality with the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon an absolute stand out.

I found this place on the internet by googling romantic restaurants on the Upper East Side. It was absolutely delightful. The red dining room on the 2nd floor (as pictured on the restaurant’s website) is so old world romantic. For a NYC restaurant there was surprisingly adequate space between tables. The food was scrumptious and properly prepared. Even if you get the items that add $4 per plate to your $49 pre fix 3 course meal, this is still one of the best bargains in the city! The wine list also contained reasonably priced selections. We will definitely be back. If tripadvisor had a sound feature, you would hear me squealing in delight.

I pass by this place daily and finally after 7 years had lunch with my wife. On Valentine's. Maybe it wasn't the most romantic but it has it's cuteness. On the plus side, the food is solid - not spectacular but tasty and well prepared. The prix fixe makes it easy to to choose. The dessert was excellent. The service is fair though a little distracted for such a small place. The best is the tea (though we did not stay for high tea) - my wife loved the pots and cups and had to go order them afterward.

I went for high tea sets with family friend and her twin toddlers. The services were very accommodating for 2 youngsters and 2 adults. We shared 3 high tea sets and liked the presentation and varieties. This was the only place I tried in Manhattan with really warm British scones, which were important for me in high tea. The tea options are good. Tea pots were pretty like out of storybook. The other sandwiches and desserts are beautiful as well. The house itself is cute but very old and may need some superficial touchups eventually. But the high tea was still a very pleasant experience.

This is a lovely spot in my neighborhood . I always wanted to go and finally did and what we found out that it was a lovely place, with okay food with pretty high prices. We only went for after dinner refreshments coffee and dessert but thought that even for the area they were high priced and somewhat inflexible with the menu. Probably a good spot for "tea" with granny.

We enjoyed a delightful lunch in what appears to be decorated as a small, townhouse inn. We tried the baby lettuce vinaigrette salads, then oak smoked salmon with crispy Yukon gold potato cake and caviar creme fraiche. Both the salad, dressing and salmon were delicious, as was the grilled breast of duck, bacon, spinach, sweet potato hash. The lunch portions are not overwhelming, just right, and went well with the recommended wine. A small, quiet, beautiful place with excellent service and a relaxing respite from the bustling world outside.

Have been here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The welcome the food and the service all top class. The atmosphere is friendly the interior old world charm. BUT its the food and service that makes this restaurant 5 Star. We will be back.

We have been coming here for years on visits to the Met. The staff is always friendly, the meals always quite good, and for upper west side dining the price is quite reasonable.

I love this place - the food is delicious and generous, and the setting is absolutely delightful. Paul, the owner, makes you feel welcome, and although I've probably stayed over the official time limit for both visits (I was there for my birthday in December), we were never rushed or made to feel like our time was limited. I think they know that after stuffing yourself, you'll want to take a walk around the lovely upper west side neighborhood. So, I've been twice, so I'm officially a return customer! And I will be back - it's the kind of place that's fun to take friends to just to see their delight!

Very pleasant, intimate space on NYC's Upper East Side. Not loud, easy to converse. I have to say that it was drafty where we were sitting by the large windows on the first floor -- and I was wearing a flannel shirt & warm vest. Just request a table away from the windows if that's a concern. Service was good, the food very good. We waited a long time between courses but weren't in a rush -- and as I said the food is of high quality, it's worth the wait. Their $49 prix fixe menu is an excellent deal. I loved the heirloom beet & goat cheese terrine...the pan seared filet of wild salmon was delicious, as was the dark Belgian chocolate ganache torte. Highly recommended. We plan to return!

I apologize for the length of this review- but I cannot say enough good things about this hidden gem! It has been my ‘go to’ place for hosting friends, family, parties, etc., for the past 9-10 years, (including for First Holy Communion,Confirmation, surprise birthday parties, the dinner reception after my mother’s wake, a baby shower, Thanksgiving, Xmas party for out of town friends, (Paul prints out a lovely personalized menu for the special occasion), also, to buy Afternoon Tea gift certificates for business associates, friends, and my daughter’s teachers, etc. KCH has NEVER disappointed me or my guests in anyway. Every event I have hosted at KCH has always been a resounding success. Paul and Liz, the proprietors, offer a fabulous and personalized dining experience with outstanding menu offerings- always interesting, fresh and beyond delicious,, and at a ridiculously low cost for NYC. In addition to the fabulous culinary offerings, Paul and Liz are so welcoming that you feel like an old friend they are delighted to see. Nothing is a problem— the following is a true story- who could make the below up in NYC? Many years ago, my husband and daughter surprised me for Mother’s Day by taking me to brunch at KCH. My 6 year old daughter was thrilled with surprising me, feeling very grown up, wearing her favorite party dress, and drinking lemonade from a champagne flute. My daughter felt even more grown up telling the waiter that she would have her favorite pasta, (pasta was not usually on the menu, but Paul & Liz kept some in stock for children). My daughter was going through a phase of ONLY eating pasta so KCH was the perfect choice. Our bubble of giddiness burst when the waiter, apologizing profusely, informed us that the chef was completely out of pasta. Although my 6 year old tried to put a brave face on her disappointment, she couldn’t help the tears from flowing. Within a few minutes, Paul noticed that my daughter was upset- so he came over to our table, and after getting the ‘discreet go ahead’ nod from me asked her if everything was ok. With tears in her eyes, she explained it was a special day for Mommy, and told him she only ate pasta and he didn’t have any. Paul looked shocked, and told her the waiter was mistaken, and the chef would be delighted to prepare pasta anyway she would like! After our orders were placed, I went to thank Paul only to find out that on one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants, including KCH, Paul had gone out to buy…..you guessed it- pasta for my daughter, (Drop the mike- lol).

If you're looking for a romantic fine dining experience without spending several hundred dollars per person this is the place to go. The ambiance is very elegant while being homely and traditional, the small rooms add to the feeling of intimacy and coziness and the food is traditional but very well executed and flavorful. Very good wine list with reasonable options and also offers brunch and high tea services, both of which are a truly delightful experience and can be held in private rooms upstairs for parties of up to 20/25 people. Prices for private events are also very reasonable considering the neighborhood and level of service/quality of the offerings. All in all, a very worthwile venue.

King's Carraige House manages to feel delightfully exclusive, like a secret club frequented by foodies and wine buffs in the know. The success of this lovely restaurant is the result of its fabulous cooking and the impeccable hospitality of Paul, Liz and their fantastic staff. Not to be missed when in the Big Apple.

I walked by this restaurant for many years thinking it was an antique shop. My wife and I enjoyed the best lunch we've had in quite a while. To start, a coriander carrot soup followed by a goat cheese & portobello/tomato omelette. We finished off with a creme brule & coffee. Wine & beer served only. Charming interior and excellent service. Looking forward to having dinner there.

Great tea experience! Making a reservation was super easy. The ambiance was so fun and cute. The afternoon tea food was absolutely delicious, and the perfect amount for two people. The teas we had were also really great. They gave us a full 90 minutes before bringing the check, and we never felt rushed. And such a great price. We will definitely be returning!!

Intimate dining setting with impeccable service! The food was delicious and plentiful. We passed by many times and finally made reservations to celebrate Valentine's Day dinner. I love the pre-fixe and the fact that there are only just a few tables in this townhouse.

I've never been to a teahouse before. My girlfriends had been before and wanted to go to one in the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hor dourves were delicious. I only wish they had more tea choices. They offered Earl Grey and I can get that any where. I thought I would be tasting some thing I hadn't tried. I was a little disappointed.

This family run operation delivers very good food at below NYC prices in a quiet, warm, home like setting. This is a very nice place for family dinners, brunch, lunch or tea. We had it all and it is delicious. The family which runs it is gracious and friendly. Give it a try.

Simply the best ,,, always great service amazing food and had the pleasure of getting to know Paul ,,, thank you xl

I wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, the whole experience was meh. The tea was good, but that was all. Food was dry and stale. There’s a saying that you get what you pay for. Don’t expect a fabulous high tea experience for $30pp.

I just attended a wedding shower in which my daughter is a part of. This venue was perfect for such an occasion; however, be very cautious if you are having alcohol. After I heard what was charged for the Bellinis and mimosas I was shocked. Just be sure you understand how the drinks are being priced- by glass or by bottle of alcohol used. Also, the tea was only refreshed two times without being asked and the tea sandwiches tasted as though someone forgot to cover them after making them so bread was a bit dry tasting as if stale. But I'm sure after addressing these details, you will be satisfied with this quaint venue.

My group of eight, ranging from 8 years old to 91 years old, all very much enjoyed afternoon tea at King's Carriage House. Are there better afternoon teas in NYC? Yes, but not at anything near their price. We spent $25 a head, but we didn't feel like anything was skimped. The ranking of 5 reflects the value of this experience. Our tea was quite traditional, with the three tiered server containing delightful savories (my faves were the cucumber with chive butter and the sesame chicken salad on cranberry bread) and a large assortment of desserts. Of course, we were all served a couple of warm small scones with whipped cream and jam on the table because what is tea without scones? We each had a pot of the tea of our choice, and each pot was different. The service was warm, but only there when needed.

We were on a group tour yesterday and our group had high tea at King's Carriage House and every single member of our group had nothing but the finest comments to make! My husband and I have had tea many many places and this was as good as it comes! The restaurant itself is just so homey, warm, inviting....the staff was so helpful and pleasant! This restaurant has two floors - so if anyone has a mobility problem there is not a problem....We ate in a small room on the second floor which was delightful......the tea service was traditional-savory, sweet and home made scones....they were all good....came with a glass of champagne which was also good-actually better than what most places give with a tea! and the table had 2 teas - regular and decaf-both of which were great......I cannot wait to go back with my daughter and granddaughters! I think this would be a fun spot for a shower as well....or birthday.......

As an Englishman in New York, this reminds me of traditional English faire; You'll love it or hate it. Personally I'm a fan. The prix fixe menu is short, but well chosen, with $4 surcharge for some options. Food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Service was relaxed, as seems appropriate to good digestion, but may appear slow to the NYC resident. For those from the UK, this reminds me of the Boisdale in London, or the sadly closed That Cafe in Manchester. Whatever you compare it to, it's a place I will return to.

When you enter the city is left at the door. This restaurant has been here forever. We go usually for my daughter's birthday. They have created an ambience to put you back in time. The food is excellent as well as the service. You feel as if they are catering only to you. A casual and romantic spot. Jeremy T

We went ther Saturday evening 1/14/12 for my birthday. The townhouse is charming and the feel is that you are inside someone's home. The service was attentive but not hovering. No rushing in between the courses. Our meals were delicious. The pinot gregio was excellent! We will go back there ( we are told the rotate their menu often) .I so enjoyed the fcat that our apartment is walking distance and we strolled home very satisfied and well cared for, a very pleasant eperience

Both me and mt friend got sick the following day. Stay away. Food is atrocious.

My daughter and I love a good afternoon high tea, but this was not one of them. King's Carriage House was very underwhelming. Despite being their first customers of the day (and only customers for a while), the service was very slow. They were out of 3 of 8 teas on the menu. I opted for the champagne - meh. The tiny, one bite sandwiches were a little stale and we did not finish our treats (surprising for us:) because, they too, were not that good. The bill came to $75. I had to hunt down the waiter to pay and he ignored me for a solid 3 minutes as I stood and waited with a credit card in my hand. SO disappointing!

First i must say the food is excellent. That is the only good thing I can say about this dining experience. The building is a beautiful old townhouse. However do not expect to be seated in one of the nice upstairs rooms, those are reserved for groups. The night we were there celebrating our anniversary the nice upstairs room was booked for a medical presentation (how romantic is that). They told us that during the week the upstairs rooms are booked by pharmaceutical companies doing sales presentations to doctors. I wish we were told this when we booked the table. Most of the staff attention was directed to serving pharmaceutical clients. They even told the table next to us why don't you take your dessert to go. The table we were given was in a tiny room in the back with broken floors. We were seated on broken tiny chairs on a broken wobbly table which slanted because the floors are uneven. Basically we were in the basement, As far as the service went, they seemed to be anxious to get rid of us. They poured the wine to the top of our glasses to help move us along. Even though the food is excellent it is expensive with a lot of extras after the 49 dollar prix fixe (they add on either four or eight dollars on many items). If you are not invited by a pharmaceutical company to dine at the King's Carriage house go somewhere else

I went for Afternoon Tea with my friend when visiting New York. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and attentive. The setting is exquisite. It is great value compared to the more expensive afternoon teas served at other central hotels. Make sure you have the champagne afternoon tea, a bargain for only an extra $10. Well worth a visit when in New York!

Won't go back......servings were meager ...bread was stale. tea was not hot....waiter was extremely grumpy ...room was overcrowded... recently had high tea in London...the experience was night and day ...what a disappointment.....this is New York ...for sure there is a high tea available somewhere that would be better quality... don't bother going there...

The atmosphere was perfect, they must have a mind reader in charge of music because the playlist was a medley of our favorites. (Swing and Romance). The dining room is picture perfect and we had just enough attention from our waiter without being intrusive ... It is a fine line that he strode with perfection. The meal, the wine, the desert was all nearly perfect, served on hot plates, but still not quite hot enough for my taste. The cost was high ... they do not have fixed prices for now, but it IS Manhattan and we had our own private dining room for the evening. A first for us after dining nearly every week in the City for the last decade.

Had dinner here with my husband last week. We had a Groupon. I had the Filet Mignon entrée and he had the lamb. Everything was wonderful including the appetizers and the desserts. We will definitely return in the future. It is very small downstairs, where we were seated. There may be space upstairs as well.

Perfect place to go for an intimate, long lunch with dear friends! Lunch Prefix is a great deal and delicious. I have been there repeatedly over 8 or 9 years and Love it!

This is such a cute and cozy tea spot. It reminds me of the old school authentic tea houses we went to before tea became an insanely high end thing. They have a nice fireplace and living room style set up and have really pretty tea pots in different shapes. The set up reminds me of a cute house. The tea set up was really nice and they had a good number of veggie options to eat.

From the welcome To the table service and friendly staff, this establishment is top of the rock amazing. My husband and I sat and enjoyed an hour and a half of culinary delights chosen from a simple but talented menu. Inexpensive but quality is what you get here. It is tucked away in the upper manattan area of E 81 St which is a subway ride away or a hearty walk from midtown but is well worth it for the return. It was for us easily the best decision we made for our Sunday brunch/ prix fixe menu out of many over priced options we could have had. You must go! To Paul thank you and to our lovely waitress whom we cannot remember your name, sorry!! You were amazing!

On May 1 my daughter was given a Bridal Shower at King's Carriage House. It was amazing. The shower was in a private room, set up perfectly for interacting with all attendees, white flowers on the tables, service was EXCELLENT, wonderful variety of sandwiches, scones, chocolate covered strawberries, and desserts. The tea was wonderful and the pot was never empty. The staff explained each item and was totally attentive and refilled items almost unnoticed. I had an amazing time as did everyone! Great place to host a Bridal Shower!!!!!

Great food. Excellent service. Attractive ambience. Quiet, small, comfortable. No complaints at all.

This was a horrible experience. The tea was good. That was the only thing that was good. This is not afternoon tea or high tea. The sandwiches were stale. The service was gruff bordering on rude. He dropped the tea pots on the table like he was serving animals. The server had no idea about any kind of tea etiquette. The scones could have been used as hockey pucks. The desserts looked like they were bought at Costco, but didn't taste as good. The bathroom upstairs is disgusting. The paper on the walls in the bathroom is pealing five inches up from the floor and the indented positioning of the room in relation to the outer hall wall made me uncomfortable. I have gone to many varied types of tea service and had wonderful experiences at all of them. I have never had a bad afternoon tea until this one. Try some other location. Do not waste your money here.

King's Carriage House is extensively decorated in a way almost reminiscent of a quirkier and more English manner than the set of Rian Johnson's murder mystery movie "Knives Out." It's extremely fun to walk around and just look for all the visual treasures bursting out the walls. Call to make your reservation - it took me over 12 emails back and forth to set up a time, confirm it, and write down credit card information in a mere pdf attached to an email without any encryption. Perhaps it was due to it being a larger party, but afternoon tea itself was not worth noting. Finger sandwiches were fine, if a bit of the bread used was a smidge stale. However, for some reason, we didn't get a dessert for each person. We had a party of 6, one with a nut allergy, so the bottom plate should include 5 of each dessert for each remaining guest. Instead, we only had 3/5 baby poppy seed tea cakes, 3/5 baby apricot coconut tea cakes, and 4/5 lemon curd squares. This is a total of 3/4 of served tea cakes missing, and the remaining missing ones were not offered to us on a separate plate. Great tea selection served in unique, quirky teapots. I also want to note that in my email exchange, our seating was only offered for 1.5 hours and a $100 fee is charged to your card if you overstay your time slot. As a result of feeling rushed and emphasizing the importance of timeliness, half my party arrived early or on time and it took us 15 minutes to be seated. We were served quickly afterwards, although I never received a menu. However, it felt somewhat pressing to be seated in an almost entirely empty section that had ample room for a few other parties of our size and feeling rushed to finish our tea and food in time merely to avoid a late fee.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were delighted. It is in a charming colonial style carriage house at 82nd & 3rd ave, a short walk from the subway. We were treated extremely warmly and graciously by the staff, who ushered us up to a beautifully decorated, small, romantic room. We were provided a $49 pp fixe prix menu (3 course) which we were told changes nightly. There were about half a dozen choices for each course, with a nice variety from which most people could find something they liked. We had oyster stew and lobster bisque for apps. NOther choices included some delicious looking scallops. We had rack of lamb and duck breast. Other choices included a fantastic looking lobster pot pie and wild pacific salmon. We had a creme brulee with berries and a blackberry cobbler. There were a few wines by the bottle and by the glass, all reasonably priced. All the food, drink and service were excellent, and atmosphere was really cozy and romantic. A perfect Valentine's Day dinner. Highly recommended!!

As you enter Kings Carriage House you feel very welcome.. the atmosphere is lacking though. This is February and indoors it is only slightly warmer than outside. If you expect that special cup of tea made with love from loose leaves tea.. this is not the place. Here you get bags of tea with the string still attached in a teapot. Mine was in the form of Big Ben and my friend got a teapot in shape of a little tower w queen Elizabeth the first. On the positive side the service was very good and friendly. The sandwiches were freshly made The scones were warm. It was whipped cream not clotted cream. A very nice selection of small freshly made cakes. For $25 per head in Manhattan it was very good value. But no. We will not make the effort to return to this place. The empty tea room should have giving us a hint.

The kind of place that you wonder whether you should review and let the world know–or keep it to yourself. Charming, charming, charming plus great food and service. They also have high tea!

I have eaten here a few times in the past couple of months because I was taken here on business meals. The food and service have been so BAD. The kitchen is FILTHY!! I speak from repeated experience when I say that the food has been terrible. Orders have been wrong. I was given fish when I ordered chicken, then when they finally brought me chicken it was undercooked. GROSS. I could give far more details, especially about these meals. I wholeheartedly say Do NOT eat here. Save yourself.

The menu is prix fixe at $49.95 with a few supplements. At that price you get an app, entree and desert. That is quite a deal in NYC considering what you get and how you get it. The decor is beautiful, set in a century's old carriage house, it exudes old English nobility. Even the tea pots are modeled after English landmarks. The menu usually offers filet mignon, lamb and salmon as well as assorted seasonal items that are prepared well and served graciously. The best part of KKH is the feeling of being transported outside NYC and into the serenity of the English countryside, if only for a few hours. I highly recommend it, especially for a nice romatic night out.

Went to King's Carriage House with some family for afternoon tea. I've never done afternoon tea! I'm a southerner, for cryin' out loud. But this was a fun experience. As many have noted here, King's is quite small. We were led upstairs, where there was space to seat maybe 40 people total. The host and our server made me feel like I was really having tea in a nice place somewhere in England. We were served tea and traditional English tea finger foods: cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, lox on toast, egg salad sandwiches, an assortment of sweets, and more. It was surprisingly filling, so much so that we skipped out on dinner. Going to King's Carriage House, as my title indicates, quite an experience! Highly recommended.

Very small dining room, but beautifully decorated with English artwork and decorative objects. The prix fixe menu is very good, and value. One problem is that because the room is so small (back dining area) you are almost elbow to elbow with the next table. But will definetety go back for tea!

My sister and I both live in the neighborhood, and Kings Carriage House is definitely our preferred spot for afternoon tea. Prices are extremely reasonable, the service is good, and the setting is lovely and quaint. The sandwiches are great (the sesame chicken salad is delicious) and the scones and pastries are delicious. Will definitely be back soon!

It's so unnecessary to go for one of the expensive teas at the big hotels. This place serves a beautiful, refined tea in a more intimate setting and at a more affordable cost. The sweets and savouries were perfect, and the service was impeccable. We met the owner, who took the time to have a conversation with us over a glass of wine in the front sitting room after we had finished our tea. Highly recommended, especially if you're looking for the perfect ending to a day in Central Park and Upper Manhattan.

The apartment was not clean. We documented everything in pictures. Toilets with remnants of faeces. Leaves and dust in the house. Even a pile of food on a bed. Dirt under the pillows and blankets. We have written to the landlord twice on price accommodation, that I was ignored.

This is a small restaurant in an old town house, with seating probably for about 12 on each floor.the ambience is out of this world, and you feel you are in the nineteenth century, and the food is absolutely superb, from appetizer to desert. It is a great place for romantic couples and is a true New YHork experience.Go there.

"Did" High Tea last year and tried lunch on a weekend day. Their fixed-price brunch/lunch menu is short but has something for everyone, and at $20.95 is well priced for what you get. Start with a salad or a fruit plate--the fruit, drizzled with yogurt and honey, was unbelievable delicious, raspberries and blackberries and some of the sweetest cantaloupe I've tasted all year (where DID they get the cantaloupe in the dead of winter?). I had the chicken entree--a lot of food on the plate, and all delicious. My sisters had croissant french toast (sweet and yummy) and an omelette with crispy chunks of potatoes as a side. The omelette was perfect looking and perfectly cooked, filled with cheese and tomatoes and mushrooms. The coffee was good and plentiful-- but the only 'downf note is that it was not hot (served from a silver coffee pot--lovely to look at but not insulated enough to keep the coffee hot). We sat upstairs in the back room--a little chilly compared to the front room--but was lovely nonetheless.

A small, Small, SMALL place (total seating is less than 250 restaurant tucked into the first floor of an old brownstone building on Manhattan's upper east side. Handicap access is minimal, and the menu somewhat limited. But the service is gracious and the food delicious. The Afternoon Tea at $25/person is delicious, but over priced. The tea is baggs, not loose tea. But the sandwiches and desserts are delicious and served in precious little (almost miniature) size
The perfect high tea experience!
This was a truly perfect experience. From the moment we walked in, everything was fantastic. We were warmly greeted by the owner, and each part of the process was flawless. Both the food and the service exceeded all of our expectations. While this is not our first time here, this is our first time to experience the holiday version of the high tea. Each one of the items was very flavorful and fresh…nothing missed the mark. And by New York City standards, this was extremely affordable. The venue itself is so cozy and intimate, there are so many little details that make you feel like you are in a fancy London establishment. Make sure to come hungry, because you will leave full!!
