i was able to enjoy this beautiful weather in dallas yesterday and chose Kona Grill patio to catch up with my girl friends. The weather was perfect and so was the happy hour! Great pricing, good spicy tuna and margarita's. The crowd was also nice. lots of local athletes and celebrity watching! the music was great and the service was awesome!

This has been our go to Happy Hour place for years now, unfortunately not anymore though! The last year or 2 the staff change over is crazy, before we'd have the same waiter for years. They don't stick around for good reason!. The sushi happy hour deal have always been great. Now the prices are higher which I could deal with, except the food quality has gone way downhill! The Spicy Tuna was pretty much a Glob of mayonnaise with some tuna. It was gross!!!! I couldn't even eat it! The rest of the sushi was not very good either, and we had about $90 worth of it, left most on the plate! We are very bummed. We always celebrated our Birthday's there, but won't again. We did have pretty great service this time though, don't remember his name but he is from Argentina. Very polite and great!

The food was very good, but came out at unpredictable times, with one appetizer arriving with entree. The waitress seemed not to care and was not very friendly. The hostess and runner were much nicer and pleasant than waitress.

Love the atmosphere at Kona Grill and the food is always top notch! Great place to go while at North Park mall! Highly recommend!

Great happy hour and reverse happy hour on weekends! Half price sushi, appetizers, and 1-2 dollars off beer, wine, and some specialty cocktails! Vegan and gluten-sensitive menu Fun patio!

My husband and I recently had dinner at Kona Grill. This was not out first time there, and we have had good experiences in the past. It seems the attention to detail has really gone downhill, and that is unfortunate because in an area with so many restaurant choices they really have to stay at the top of their game at all times. We had a reservation and we were seated promptly. The dining room was not crowded. Our server came to the table and took our drink and appetizer order quickly. The little dish for the soy sauce had a huge chip in the finish, so that was not the best way to start things off. The sushi roll was very good. I ordered the swordfish entree from the new "seasonal" menu. They were out of the vegetables pictured in the promo, and the waiter did let me know of that change when I placed the order. Sadly, the fish arrived raw so I sent it back and ordered a pasta dish instead. Again, lack of attention to detail. I was surprised that no manager came to apologize for the problem. The server was very polite and took care of it, but in my opinion, a completely raw entree warrants an apology from a manager. This has diminished my opinion of Kona Grill and I am not sure we will retur anytine soon.

I have been to this Kona Grill location many many times. It used to be a favorite place to take the kids or to meet up with friends. I’m not sure what has happened, but I started noticing a decline in the quality of food about 3 years ago. Have been waiting for the Kona I know and love to somehow regain its culinary and overall greatness, but sadly it has not. At one time I did not mind paying $27 for the seared tuna. It was the only thing I ever ate. I have not ordered it in a long time because the last 2 times I did it was flavorless, and served with white rice that was cold and stale. I quit ordering iced tea because the raspberry tea tastes like it is instant tea, and the other tea is extremely watered down, every time! I have switched over to soda or water the last several times I tried the tea. Last time I was there I had the macadamia chicken. It was ok, but again, lacking taste and freshness one expects with a price tag of $20. Overall, the food is bland and not living up to the price point. The service is also VERY inconsistent. I’ve had great service and I’ve had extremely poor service. Usually, the service falls somewhere in the middle- bland-like the food. Kona Grill is no longer MY go-to place for a great meal, but rather a place of convenience (at Northpark Center). So disappointing. I would not be surprised to walk by one day and find that it has met the same fate as other establishments at Northpark—closed.

The atmosphere was nicely lit, but a bit bland. Our server was friendly and laid back. The manager stopped by. Had the kona salad (chicken was ok, ingredients were fresh) and the kona club (bread was a bit dry, but the ingredients were fine). A drunk man at a nearby table threw his cloth napkin on our table and mumbled something incoherent. We notified the server. Perhaps they should monitor alcohol service, especially in a mall!

Nice vibe Good food We ordered Beer Edamame, sea Bass Mizo and a delicious house Salad. The Terrace is an amazing place to end your shopping day at. Make sure you are there early because it get very busy after 8 and you'll have to queue. Enjoy :)

Went to Kona for dinner while I was at North Park Mall and it was pretty good. The service was pretty decent even though it was not the quickest, but it was ok. I ordered some sushi to start and it was good considering it is not a sushi place, as an entree I had the teriyaki chicken with veggies which was good. Overall good atmosphere and good food. I will visit again when in Dallas.

Beautiful place with excellent food. Had an Asian type salad with shredded cabbage and grilled chicken. Usually comes with a sweet dressing which I don't care for at all, but chef didn't mind sending the "spicy sesame sauce" that usually comes with an appetizer instead and it was delicious. LOTS of food.

try the avacodo eggrolls and the potstickers! Also had a chicken dish that was recommended, but I don't remember the name

The food is fresh and willing to adjust the menu to their patrons needs. The manager personally met us at our table and brought the right dish and went above and beyond the menu and our expectations. She offered an appetizer to compensate for a mishap in one of the dishes ordered.

Great restaurant for after a day of shopping. Quiet, peaceful, comfortable seating with great sushi and pad Thai. We will be back.

The patio here is great for people watching! The sushi is fresh and delicious and the service is attentive. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Dallas!

Our family had a nice Saturday lunch but our young waiter had terrible body odor and it ruined our meal. The food and service were fine.

Stop at Northpark to get a few items and noticed kona started serving brunch ,so call a few friends to meet me , we had a great time of coarse it was happy but we wanted to try brunch item they were all good .. would recommend to all.

Family and I ordered a couple different sushi varieties and all of them where super good. My favorite had to be the snickers dessert at the end. Nice restaurant and good prices. And instead of crayons for the kids they let them use the old school etch and scetch.

We were visiting Dallas and decided to head to Northpark, a favorite hangout of mine while I had lived in Dallas, Of course it had been 30 years since I left Dallas for Seattle, but it was nice to come back. We stopped in Kona Grill for their Happy Hour, and sat out on the patio. We each enjoyed a lovely glass of house red wine and some appetizers. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls - the spicy tuna and the shrimp tempura roll. Both were tasty and half price.

Took 27 minutes to get a waiter. Other wait staff passes by us a dozen times. Never asked us a thing. Just like we were not there. At best, the food was pretty bad. This place is geared for drinkers, not eaters. Will never return

We had a party of 7 at Kona Grill to celebrate a birthday & it was terrible :S The best part of the whole experience was our Open Table reservation worked & our table was ready when we got there at 7:30. It should have been a sign about the service when it took 20 minutes to just get drinks (but at that point we thought it might just be the bar's fault) One person in our party decided to just order another drink right away assuming it would take another 20 minutes to get it. We could never seem to find our server. We would go long periods of time without any service (no refills on waters, sat with our dirty plates in front of us for 20 minutes, the food took a long time to come out) The entire dinner took over 2 hours because of the slow service. Thankfully we ordered a few appetizers to snack on since it ended up taking a long time to get the food. The chicken/shrimp lettuce wraps and the clam chowder were both delicious. 3 people in our party got the macadamia nut chicken (which was the clear winner). I ordered pad thai, which was terrible & didn't taste anything like pad thai (not sure how you can screw that up) but thankfully they brought me something different. It also wasn't that great, but at least they tried to fix the problem. We ended the night with a GIANT bread pudding & coffee. Because of the service up to this point we made sure our server knew we wanted the coffee & desert together! We won't be back, so many better places to go in Dallas.

An appealing selection of Asian fusion and far west coast creations.

Probably like most folks in Dallas, I eat out a lot and I always like to try something new. Kona has been on my list so, during a recent visit to North Park, my wife and I decided to give Kona a try. While the staff was friendly, the atmosphere and food did not compliment the service. Looking beyond the schizophrenic music selection the place is very noisy and not great to hold a conversation over a meal. If you want a place to meet-up, this seems like a good place for friends and drinks, which is what many patrons appeared to be doing during my lunch experience. As for the food, it wasn't memorable. In fact, I can't even recall what I ordered (I think it was the salmon). But in any event, Kona is not on my list of Dallas-area restaurants that warrants a frequent visit.

The Kona Grill in Northpark Center in Dallas never disappoints! The service is fast and friendly. And the sushi rolls are to die for! Everything I've ever ordered there has so much amazing flavor. The Las Vegas Roll is my favorite, but honestly everything on the menu is fresh, delicious and tastes great. We had a waiter named Jonathon tonight and he couldn't have been better. This is by far my favorite Kona Grill. Try it out, it's worth it!

I am a lover of good seafood, so I was excited to try Kona which is in Northpark Mall. There is a large aquarium which is neat, but it is only visible if you sit at the bar or the sushi bar. It is definitely a popular place judging by the line and the noise level inside the bar. Our waiter was not very attentive, but the other waiters who worked the section were great! They stopped by to remove plates and fill up glasses regularly. The sea bass was not bad, but the miso used to season the fish overpowered the dish. The corn relish and the shrimp fried-rice, however, were really good. Open Table listed Kona moderate in price, but it is actually expensive.

I frequently go to Northpark as I love the mall and love going to the movies there. Kona has smelled great every time I've walked by and been busy with people, but I never had a chance to go until last night. My friend and I went and saw a movie and went to Kona afterwards for a late dinner and the reverse happy hour. The patio was full, unfortunately (good sign for the restaurant, though) but we got seated quickly in the lounge area. We had excellent service and were treated right away. My friend ordered the moscow mule and the avocado egg rolls. She said both were excellent. I ordered the crab crunchy roll, the philadelphia roll, and the sangria. The rolls were flavorful, and they asked me what type of sauce I wanted on the side so they provided eel sauce in addition to soy sauce. I have never had another sushi restaurant provide this before so I definitely thought it was a nice touch. The drink was different than any other sangria I have tasted, more light and less rich. However, it was still delicious. My friend and I are already planning to return next weekend for another movie and late night dinner here.

I used to visit this Kona Grill all the time and loved it. That being said, our most recent visit was a disappointment. Our sushi was good, no real complaints but it's been better. The Pad Thai was terrible and not even remotely close to tasting like Pad Thai. Our waitress was nice but didnt stop by often or go out of her way to make us feel welcome. Overall food service was slow even though there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. The atmosphere was lacking. It just seemed worn down and tired. If you're willing to make the drive, I reccomend going to the Plano location. Their food quality, atmosphere, and service are far better.

We took our daughter here for her 19th birthday. I am so glad I made reservations. This place was super busy, with it being valentine's day weekend! Our daughter loves sushi, and going by past reviews this place has really good sushi. She loved the sushi, she ordered La Vegas roll. My husband had the pork sliders, he really enjoyed them. I decided on the chicken/shrimp lettuce wraps, real good but messy. Our server was very attentive even with the place being very busy. We ordered the brownie ala mode,it was delicious! They didn't charge us for it, since it was for my daughter's birthday! Kona's is a little pricey, but for a special occasion it is worth it.

Kona Grill is a chain, I used to eat at the one in Vegas frequently. For being a chain it is pretty good. The location at Northpark is very convenient if you are headed to a movie. I had the sushi sampler and my friend had a flatbread and they were both good. I was shocked at how NOT busy it was at Noon on a Saturday. If you can make happy hour or reverse happy hour it is definitely worth it. Otherwise the sushi is a little over priced.

Don't go to the food court, go to KONA grill. They have amazing happy hour specials and though some will say the food is not good, try it out for yourself. We got the spicy edamame, avocado eggrolls, calamari, lettuce wraps, sushi, pepperoni and bbq chicken flatbread and moscow mules. The total was about $145 for everything after several drinks and it was 7 of us. Pretty decent price considering all of the alcohol that was consumed and food. You can't go wrong with giving it a shot, if anything else it is cheaper than eating inside the mall during their happy hour.

My daughter had visited this restaurant recently for the first time and shared how she loved the kids steak. I was craving steak, so thought we'd slip in mid afternoon and have a quick bite. It was mid afternoon, not lunch rush. Took a while for us to find a mall parking spot, as seems like EVERYONE was out shopping Saturday. We went into the restaurant and we observed 2 folks working the check-in counter. One looked maybe 14, the other was wiping menus. They were in their own little world, even with us standing right in front of them, so I finally got their attention and asked if we could eat. There were 8 or so others waiting to be seated it looked like. They said "it will be 15 minutes at least". I had already scoped out the place and noticed that at least half of the tables/booths were empty. So I commented how odd that was for so many empty tables to be literally right next to where I was standing yet I get to sit and wait staring at all those empty tables. The next response was "the manager isn't allowing us to seat anyone until they tell us it is ok". It was probably one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and there wasn't enough staff called in or present to tend to customers? Maybe they can't hire enough workers? Or maybe something else was going on. We sat with the others waiting... After waiting around 10 minutes, no one had been seated. All the original folks were still waiting. At the 15 minute point, and no one having been seated since we arrived, I decided this establishment did not need my patronage. And they had zero idea about an anywhere near accurate wait time estimate. I put my steak craving on hold and took the escalator upstairs to the mall food court where they were all thrilled to accept my money. Some did have a line, but there were enough options that one could be eating within minutes.

The sushi was very good and the prices were reasonable. For the main dish I decided to get one of the specialty fish plates that was okay but definitely not worth the money. The atmosphere was really nice and I overall enjoyed my visit.

Great place for happy hour after work, catch up with friends, or even for a casual date! They offer a menu for their happy hour specials (which include domestic beer, pizza, sushi, margaritas, etc) for a very low price. People can wear from casual to trendy and nobody cares. Excellent place to spend the summer in a patio. Just be aware that happy hour only applies for the people seated (or standing) at the bar/patio area. If you are seated at the restaurant you'll pay regular price.

Isabel was an amazing waitress. She made sure my bf and I were comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was a bother. This was a good experience

Nice menu selection. Good service. Pad Thai noodles were average. Gets crowded at Happy Hour. Would visit again.

This is a great addition to North Park mall. Stopped here for a healthier, non-sandwich lunch and shared a sushi platter and salad for the two of us with ample food.

Restaurant in the Northpark center. Service was good, but food was not. We started off with soup, my wife got the tomato bisque and I got the clam chowder. My wife then got the black and bleu salad with shrimp and I got the chicken sandwich, Everything was overly salty, not very good in general.

Our server was pleasant, but she was probably very new. She had a hard time opening our wine which let us know she was inexperienced. When she began pouring the wine she did not have a napkin or cloth to catch any spill of the red wine. We took care of the wine splatter after she left. We ordered an appetizer, and we discovered that she did not turn our main course orders in until AFTER we finished the appetizer. We arrived about noon. We did not receive our meal until after 1 p.m. We asked about our mail course about 30 minutes after our server took our appetizer away. She said that the burger that my husband ordered was very thick, and it would take a long time to get it cooked properly. She repeated this excuse as we left. We were there almost two hours, and it was not because we wanted to be. We had to ask for water refills. The manager never came by to check on us. If the manager had come by, we would have given him or her an honest evaluation of the service. The food was fine, but the service was lacking.

My friend and I ate here for lunch. The first time I ate here the food and service were outstanding. Service has really suffered. I ordered a frozen Mai Tai. The bartender seemed to be a little perturbed because I asked for a frozen one. He snidely told me I would have to wait 15 minutes. I nicely told him that was fine because I was not in a hurry. When it was ready he placed it on the table and left before I could ask for a straw (he didn't attempt to be helpful). Our waitress was not very informed about the dishes that we inquired about. She gave very vague descriptions. My friend ordered a spicy beef bowl with rice. She said it was a little too hot (seasoning) for her. I tasted it. The flavor was OK. The spice didn't bother me since I love hot and spicy. I ordered spicy shrimp tempura. It was not what our waitress described. It was flavorful, but it was not very spicy. There were a lot of shrimp. They were served on a banana leaf. I also ordered shrimp tempura naruto with a smidgen of wasabi. It was accompanied with terriyaki sauce. This was served in a cucumber slice roll with crab meat and rice. It was not what I expected because my waitress didn't do a good job of describing it. Service was very, very slow. I joined the Konavore rewards program two years ago. However, they had no record of my membership. I guess it had expired because I was not eligible for for any reward. I was told I needed to rejoin. We didn't order dessert because the ambiance was just not present. I would like to compliment the hostess. She was very helpful. She filled in for the bartender and our waitress. We won't be going back to Kona Grill, not because of the food, but because of the service.

I came here for Happy Hour and ordered a drink and sushi. They had great prices for Happy Hour and the food was very good. I really enjoyed the outdoor seating.

I like this place. The sushi menu offered a nice variety of items, especially the locally themed selections. Some items are a bit pricey, but every was delicious. I'd dine here again.

Came here based on great experience at the one in Chandler AZ. Ceviche is excellent and fresh and husbands pork sandwich was tasty, with great drink and beer menu. We ate at the bar to avoid the wait. Could not beleive how crowded it was in mid afternoon on a saturday. Only wished they had bigger TV's

The title says it all. This is a great place to go for Happy Hour! They also have a Reverse Happy Hour! I would definitely recommend this place! You should probably go early. We did have to wait a little bit to get a table, but they were more than happy to let us grab a drink from the bar and take it back to the line while we waited for a table. That was nice and definitely helped with the waiting.

Popular joint located in North Park Mall really great happy hours with the food. Drinks are very good mediocre wine selections. The staff depending on the time you go can be quite immature for the establishment. The food is great the Picasso dish is awesome. Very good local place to meet young professionals.

Tu was our waiter for lunch. He was a very attentive waiter. California roll was good. Pecan Crusted Chicken was good - a lot of food. The Brocolli stir fry was very spicy though. Miso soup was good. The Moscow Mule good also. Very nice restaurant in Northpark.

We love Kona Grill, the food is excellent. Our favorite spot is the patio, and we always start with angry edamame. My favorite is the Tuna Tower. Delicious! We spend a lot of time there and we have never been disappointed. It is a great place to have a liezurely lunch with girlfriends, and shopping is a nice additive.

This is the restaurant we return to, almost weekly because it always tastes wonderful, service is great and it's so pretty. And they have a great Aquarium behind the sushi bar. There is a heated outdoor patio that's very popular for happy hour with an indoor/outdoor bar. The interior has my favorite low lighting with pillowy looking fixtures and the booths are quiet enough to have conversations in. They have fresh sushi (our fave is the coconut sushi with a coconut mojito) Start with the Avocado Egg roll (deep fried with honey-cilantro dipping sauce) or great calamari or Grilled Apple/Brie/red onion jam, figs and toasted walnut flatbread. Other faves are the Macadamia Chicken entree or the Salmon Salad. We go with our adult children, grandchildren, friends, business or on date night. Kona is near the AMC movie theater as well. It's just a great place to meet and eat! Very centrally located. Be sure to get them to validate your valet parking.

Sunday lunch. The dining room was maybe one-quarter full, and we still waited 30 minutes for our food. The server said that trout was the fish of the day. Oops. He had to come back 10 minutes later to tell me they were already out. It was only 12:15 p.m. Really? My companion asked for steamed green beans--they came sitting in oil and onions etc. Not just steamed. My mahi-mahi and my wife's pot stickers, along with the steamed green beans and garlic mashed potatoes, were all very salty. Our first visit. Our last visit. At least we had the 20% Partners' Card discount. Dear NorthPark management: replace Kona Grill with something better.

While visiting in Dallas we happened upon Kona Grill as a recommendation of a friend. So glad we did. Pleasant atmosphere and pace, good service and most important, excellent food. The manage came over to greet and assess our response to the Resturant, always a nice touch.

A friend of mine ordered the tuna tower.. Not on the menu.. It was delicious! Everything we had was amazing. Angry edamame, turkey burger, salads, and sushi. Friendly service and great atmosphere. We will keep coming back.

Do not think Open Table can get you a patio reservation like it says on the web sight! Manager told me “first come first serve” we can’t guarantee a patio seat. I asked then why is the option online? She told me they would lose too much business if they were honest about it! We waited until 7:00 for a 6:30 reservation. I’m sure people after us waited much longer! I will also mention all the staff seems very new and our food was very good but ours came out right away, my daughters simple cali rolls came out 35 min later and then I got my app after that. I saw a whole family walk out without paying and a waiter dump wine on his table then give a cocktail napkin to clean up. My water glass had nasty funk all over it and the manager replaced it without one bit of care about the bad experience! Oh and let me not forget, we ordered a bottle of wine but I got one glass, then my husband another, and after we both had 2 it was more expensive than the bottle we ordered! Oh well, very sad I always loved this place but with that kind of management, NEVER AGAIN!! GOOD BY KONA! It was good when it used to be good!!

I went with my husband today for lunch and were told we had to wait 5 minutes for a table although more than half the tables were empty. Two more couples came after us who were told that they also had to wait but they were seated 5 minutes later but they kept us waiting and waiting .Obviously we left . The hostess was certainly discriminating us because we are Latinos and came to Dallas for vacations (we’re from Costa Rica) . The other couples that she seated before us where American. This event was on March 2 , 2022 around 12:30 pm. Shame on you to have this type of personnel in your restaurant .

The prices are high for the type of food served. The service is poor and it took almost one hour to have the dishes served. The Kona Chicken was terrible and we had to return it.

This establishment would have gotten a 5-Star rating if the woman at the Front Desk was not so uncaring and low key rude. Attitude with customers is not something to be taken lightly. She seems to need some customer service training. The Lettuce Wrap meal was extremely good. The accompanying sauce was kind of fiery so use small amounts. The meatballs (5 of them) and the accompanying potatoes were tasty as well.

Love this place!!! Best spot in the mall!! The happy hour is pretty outstanding. All food is made from scratch, don't see that as much any more!!!

Love this spot! My friends and I go every month for their reverse happy hour after 9pm. It get's a little busy around that time but is definitely worth it. You can get two drinks and a full meal for under $20.

Went during lunchtime for a business meeting. Hostess was very nice and seated all of us immediately. Waitress immediately got our drink orders and delivered them. Restaurant was not busy when we got there but got steadily busier as time went on, but remained quiet and we could hear each other well even though the place got full. We ordered an appetizer(potstickers), and they were very tasty, so we ordered another one! As for entree, we ordered a sushi roll to share (the bama roll) and it was the best sushi I've had in a quite a while(pic attached), and the chicken and broccoli stir-fry. It was well flavored and tasted good, and I ate the whole thing. All in all, a good experience and we'll be back.

If you are shopping at North Park, this is a great place for a break. Try the appetizers or the sushi with a glass of wine or a beer. Right in the mall and has a patio side too. Staff was very friendly.

I love this place! The food is excellent. I always order the shrimp and scallop ceviche. Great atmosphere!

Catie was an amazing bartender! I always come here almost every day and she’s been amazing to chat with and makes some killer drinks. Always feeling great after work coming to Kona. Thanks Catie for the rad drinks! Definitely come to the bar for a relaxing time if you’re in the area. Food and drinks are 10/10

This place has really taken a tumble. Nothing remotely close to the dining experience I fondly remember several months ago. Their prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. A sampling of what to expect: 1. You may wait over an hour for your food 2. It will most likely be cold 3. Doubtful the order will be 100% correct I will be shocked if this place is still in business this fall. Avoid at all cost!

Stopped in for dinner after some shopping at North Park Mall. There were 3 of us and all enjoyed everything ordered. We ordered a Rock Coconut Mojiti, and a Strawberry Basil Lemonade both were excellent. The starter was Edamame and very typical of most places. Entrees were Chicken Caprese Sandwich (my wife isn't very adventurous) and she thought it was great and it was served with garlic parmesan fries. Daughter had Yamada Roll and I thoroughly enjoyed my Spider Roll which was made with soft shell crab. For desert we shared a slice of banana cream pie with a thick graham cracker crust. Good but not spectacular. Tisha our server informed us she had only been on the job there about two weeks. She did a very good job and was very pleasant. We wouldn't hesitate to dine here again.

I repeatedly visit Kona as it is convenient to get to. Their sushi is always fresh and displayed well. Kona’s angry edamame is especially delicious and the temptation roll (not on the menu) is also very good. Overall I have had good experience with the waiters/waitresses. I wish they would consider moving happy hour into the restaurant when the weather is poor (cold or rainy), but other than that I have no complaints about the restaurant. Suggestions: Ask you waiter/waitress about items NOT on the menu, there are plenty more to choose from! Also, show up early (30+ min) before happy hour if you want a table. Their happy hours are extremely popular.

This Kona Grill sits in the North Park mall - so took a while locating it just going off the address. Offered a wide menu selection including Japanese and American, so won't be difficult to find something. Had the Cuban pork sandwich which was quite good. A friend had the spicy shrimp roll which I tried - have had better rolls. The chicken flatbread was very good. Went here on a Sat and the service was decent. The snickers bar for dessert was the highlight of dinner. Also tried passion fruit crime brûlée. Looks like mostly mall crowd when we went. Have heard the ambiance is better in Plano location.

I ate here 3 times in 6 days. I was with a group of people that varied in size each night for our dinners, and we kept finding ourselves here. Kona's menu choices pleased all of us. Apparently the happy hour is very popular. We didn't take part in the happy hour, but if you like that, give them a call to learn more. The sushi was fresh and the hamburgers and sandwiches were tasty. Expect to spend $15-35 on your meal if you include salad, drink, entree. Each night we had a different server. The service was consistent.

Came to Kona Grill for my birthday they give you a $15 Gift to use. TIP go during happy hour Apps are 1/2 Price. I got 2 Apps and was still under the $15 they gave me. The Cheeseburger Sliders are the size of Fast Food Junior Burgers (Bigger than McDonalds Regular Cheeseburger). The proportion size is A+ & it came with French fries. I couldn't finish my second App so got my Pepperoni Flatbread to go & had it for dinner. Olivia was Amazing! Her knowledge of the menu was awesome. She helped suggest things that she liked and was just a really sweet girl. She spent a few minutes talking with me and the personal touch she had with everything was on point. Food came out fast and correct. She took time to write a thank you not on the receipt which was another nice touch. Honestly I didn't quite know what to expect from Kona. I signed up to get the free Gift Certificate. With service like that though & the great value on the 1/2 price apps.

best Ceasar salad ever! just the right amount of garlic in the dressing... kona filet cooked to perfection, medium-rare and juicy, well seasoned. carrot cake serves 3 people! for a shopping mall restaurant, this exceeded our expectations and is among the best steak restaurants I have visited so far.

While I don't eat sushi, there are non-fish items on the menu I like. We've been here a few times. It can get a little loud, but the food and service are always good.

Great place to chill on sunday , there is an all day happy hour , If you sit in the bar . The drinks and appetizers are half price , the food is really good and the strawberry mango margarita"s are a must have ..

My experience started very horribly. My party and I walked in to be greeted by someone who looked up at us instantly and directly after seeing us she put her head down speaking to us with out looking at us. She then went on to seat us in a booth, I asked her about happy hour which I have known about quite sometime. She went to say it was happy hour but it's in the full area now. I asked her if we could be seated at the bar she told us no seeing how we had a party of 5. Her attire as well as her service was horrible. I asked for her manager explaining the service we were given. The manager put two tables together accommodating us. As we set and waited the host whose name is Mona gave us very uncomfortable and dirty looks. Very uncomfortable. I am at my table wrinting my review before even getting my food and being able to finish my lunch. Horrible

I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese - to die for. My friend had the jambalaya and it was extremely spicy - very good flavor but be warned. The service was good, and everything was clean with a nice atmosphere, especially considering it's in a mall. I would go again.

reliable small chain

Went here with the family the waitress was slow missed a couple of items and the food is meh.. The sushi especially the special Kona roll is not that good. The bathroom stalls don't lock so Oops

This is one of my favorite places for a girlfriends lunch. The dumplings, sushi, avocado egg rolls are the best. I've also eaten dinner here several times. I've never been disappointed. The service is always excellent. A big variety of foods. Main courses, appetizers. For lunch a great place to share plates. Definitely my favorite place at North Park!!

Tanei is the best bartender, hands-down. Always polite and the drinks are very good. Fast and great service.

You can make reservations to this place. My friend made us a 1215 reservation on a Saturday. We had the small house salad and sushi. The voodoo roll is similar to the Louisiana roll at other places. Shrimp tempera was tasty. Prices are a bit a high, but I guess because of the location. Would go again.

Fresh Fish of the Day - was nicely prepared, perfectly seasoned and cooked. This place has a great gluten free menu, with lots of fresh choices. It is a little pricey for lunch, but worth it if you are trying to watch you your gluten intake.

My first time at this place and was impressed with the food 🍱 the Kona stir fry was on point! Forgot to take pics but will be going back. Only thing I wish I could have ordered fried rice 🍚 but it was still good!

Just visited the Kona Grill at Northpark Dallas for the first time. With kids in tow I wasn't sure what to expect but I was really pleased. Not only is the restaurant nice for adults it was very welcoming to children too. All meals for kids are 5.00 and they don't skimp either. One warning if you have little kids that want pizza make sure you share it was nine square pieces and big enough for two or three small children. I had the sushi sampler it was awesome, salad was lightly dress and so flavorful. I highly recommend it. Plus you can shop or take in a movie for a date night! Very good food and I thought the price was right too, my sampler was eight pieces of calfornia roll and three pieces of sushi on rice with a large salad for 11.00. For four of us for lunch it was 37.00 with drinks, I don't think thats bad at all for the meal we had it was awesome. The service was too, they made sure our drinks were filled and the table clean. Kept coming by taking trash off the table which I love. Plus they give the kids Etch a sketch which kept them occupied!! Really awesome and I never would have expected it to be so kid friendly! Awesome!!

Try the sushi sampler at the kona grill in north park mall !! Best oriental salad and sushi mix ! Love it !

Made a reservation after a 9 hour day and looking forward to good food and relaxing with hubby. I had heard good things about this place, especially the desserts. My hubby arrived ahead of me and the server did come greet me immediately and was very kind. That’s where the promptness and attention started to dwindle. I asked for flavored teas and hubby asked for water, as she told me all the teas were unsweetened I asked for sugar. Brought our drinks (no sugar) so I asked again. We decided on 2 Rolls and Egg roll appetizer to save room for dessert. Brought out our 2 rolls ( Coconut Shrimp and Crab crunch) asked me to wait while she made sure that no peanuts were added, still no sugar. She came back and said all was good and I asked for sugar again. My hubby’s water was gone by this time also, but she didn’t notice that either. Someone else brought out our Avocado egg rolls and also didn’t notice an empty glass! She came by to make sure we had everything and still NO SUGAR! I said I needed some sugar and it took her another 5 minutes to bring it and no water refills. I don’t know where she had to go to find it. This not putting anything on the tables has become ridiculous!! Also they must have an ice shortage, as I only had 5 cubes in my tea that melted quickly. My pet peeve is restaurants not being prompt with refills!! The Egg rolls were very tasty especially the sauce, but pricey!! $15 for 2 egg rolls sliced in half, that maybe used a third of the avocado is insane. The Crab crunch roll was good, but the Coconut shrimp roll was skimpy. Almost all rice and cream cheese with the tiniest amount of shrimp. My hubby said he thought they used 1 shrimp for the whole roll. Now we are both sitting there with empty glasses and have NOT seen our server in forever. I stood up beside the table to try to see our server and couldn’t get ANYONE’s attention, I couldn’t get her to look up to make eye contact with me. The manager even walked by our table 3 times and I tried to get his attention and 2 other young ladies, 1 of which was very Snotty. As we were seated right behind the hostess stand, you would think they would have noticed me standing up and it was them that couldn’t be bothered to refill our drinks either. She finally came after the 1 hostess got her and brought us drinks, but the damage was already done and hubby said just bring the check. Then the manager comes and gets our last empty plate and asked was everything ok and I said not good. He brings me back his card and said give him this next time we came in. Well nothing was written on the card and he didn’t offer to comp us anything until I said we were going to get dessert, but not after this. He did offer to get us dessert then, but hubby was beyond done and said just the check. He should have then offered to take something off. Unfortunately not a good first impression at all. We usually give restaurants a 3 strikes your out rule, unless the food is terrible, but I won’t be able to get hubby back in there. It’s pretty bad when a manager walks by your table 3 times and points as he walks by but you can’t get his attention or him have someone bring you refills. The server did come apologize that we didn’t have a good experience and we still left her a decent tip, even though hubby objected. TIP means to insure prompt service, but that definitely wasn’t the case. So I left still a little hungry and without dessert and very unhappy. I work in the mall and would like to give a second chance, but not sure about that or even giving a recommendation.

This restaurant has amazing food and drinks, and it only gets better when its happy hour! Fast service at the bar and plenty of seating.

The food wass absolutely awful! The edemame was slimey and the sushi roll was unedible. And my friend and I swear there were prostitues at the bar. Nope..not going back!

I love the happy hours here. The margaritas are among my favorite. Love the calamari, sushi, shrimp pizza and yes the gigantic onion rings |o|

I went here with a colleague on a Wednesday night last week. Amazing. Decor was beautiful. Service and the price for the quality of the food was great. After dinner, we grabbed a drink and dessert at the lounge and our server was even more amazing. Had the BEST carrot cake ever and I HATE carrot cake. The server swore it's so good and made from scratch. Wow!! It was yummy! Check this place out. Cannot go wrong.

My friend, Diane, and I had lunch here. I ordered a Strawberry Fizz cocktail. Not the best drink I've ever had. It had no fizz and I couldn't taste any strawberry flavor. Diane and I ordered the Kona Cheeseburger. It comes with grilled onions, lettuce and tomato, and chipotle mayo. I hate mayo so I ordered mine with mustard. The meat must be two inches thick. It was very good. We ordered our burgers well done. The mean was still juicy and flavorful. It was one of the best best burgers I've had in a loooong time.We didn't like the pickle spear that came with our order. It tasted bland, kind of like a cucumber. The fries were so-so. Too thin for me. Ebony was our server. She was fantastic. I just happened to mention that my birthday was Tuesday. To my surprise she brought us some raspberry creme brulee on the house. She also told us about the loyalty program. Diane and I definitely going back to Kona Grill.

This was the worst visit we’ve ever had here. Our server was MIA most of the time. Never cleared our plates between courses. Terrible!! Only reason for 2 instead instead of 1 is the food is good but we’ve been here 2 hours and it has sucked!!!!! Very disappointed. Will not recommend this to anyone due to the lack of service. The “manager” or appeared to be walked by several times but never engaged in conversation. And it was dead when we got here so no excuses!!!

We visited mid week when it was half price for bottles of wine. Value for money meals. We had the macadamia nut chicken and key lime pie both superb. Meals are large, good quality and the service is fast, friendly and efficient. Good for families or relaxed dining

I went with a friend for dinner, it was happy hour, good prices and the food was great. Cosy place and very nice personnel. Had a great time!

I was really impressed with the sushi! Friday night sake bombs well worth the $9.00!

We've eaten here multiple times and again recently. We were pretty happy with our meal and service on a busy Saturday night. Our group ordered a variety of types of food - a chicken bowl, some sushi, a churrasco steak, a sandwich. Nothing was life-changing, but it was prepared well and we ate it all. Our server was a little absent some of the time, but he was eager to please, and handled everything fine. This is a good choice if you have a lot of different palates and food interests because they've managed to widen their menu to appeal to wide-ranging tastes.

Great happy hour menu!

I came here for the first time in years last week - and was sorely disappointed to discover the food is just as bad as I remember it being... The happy hour drink specials are decent but the cocktails are really sugary and don't have much alcohol... The appetizers are awful and the sushi has got to be the worst in Dallas. The seaweed wrap is thick and unpleasant and the rice filling is thick, cold and chewy... The flatbreads were sub par as well. I've never had a good meal here - I'm not sure why Luna De Noche next door went out of business and Kona survived!

Taylor our waitress at the North Park mall location was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu; she also gave suggestions

Similar to some of the other reviews, we had a mixed experience here. Went on a Sunday evening around 6:30pm; they were playing loud music and sports programming from the bar area. The dining area is really too close with their open room design to buffer any of the noise - the volume inhibited conversation over dinner. The noise made this more of a sports bar like experience - which then made the food WAY overpriced in that context ($90 for one appetizer/two dinners/one dessert/two hot teas - no alcohol). The food quality WAS good however, so no complaints with the chef in that regard. Our server must have either had an off day or had her mind preoccupied; top 3 issues - asked if we were finished when there was still food on our plates and forks in our hands, did not refill my water glass, and brought us our check without even asking if we wanted dessert. Many other dinner options at this NorthPark Center mall location, so they'll need to pick up their quality and service or I fear their business will suffer.

This was the first time our family ate at this restaurant and it was a nice surprise. The service was good and food was yummy. The brownie dessert was a good end to a good meal.

If you're looking for a sit-down restaurant near or in the mall, Kona is pretty good. They have valet parking which is great to avoid the mall traffic and especially good if you're going to shop after dinner. It's a bit upscale, and good in a sea of fast food mall places.

We have been dining at the Kona Grill in Northpark for years and it continues to provide no surprise dining. The sushi, as always, was fresh and artfully prepared. Each different roll presented us with a different marriage of flavors, each of which was exquisite. Our server was wonderful in all respects including knowledge of the menu. Highly recommended by foodies...

I had the opportunity to eat here while my wife and daughters shopped at Northpark. I'm never one for shopping, but I'm always up for eating. During this visit, I had a Caesar salad and the Chicken Pad Thai. Both were commendable and the service was very good too.

One of the best happy hours in north Dallas! Appetizer and drink choices are great @ reduced prices. Avocado egg rolls are to die for. Fun environment!

I haven't been to Dallas in about a year. So how I got introduced to Kona Grill was about three years ago when Cheesecake Factory couldn't figure out poaching or plain grilling things. I was completely humiliated at an office dinner. My supervisor at the time asked if I had ever been to Kona Grill. I didn't know what that was. The next day we came here and they were AMAZING. I have a ton of allergies and keep an EpiPen with me due to the lack of know people have with food. They have never failed. Now coming in here after a year, they still accommodated me. I wish I could box them up and take them home to Canton, OH.

My wife and I pulled into Northpark mall on our way out of Dallas. We were looking for something for lunch that we hadn't had before, but we're also pretty hungry. Of the first few places we saw there, Kona Grill stuck out to us. We ducked in for some lunch, and I'm glad we did. Our server was Jose, and he was great. I'm the kind of person who is usually annoyed by a server who wants to talk to you. Jose was an exception, though. He was so friendly and genuine that he was a delight to talk to. He noticed that my wife was pregnant, and we found out that his girlfriend was due a week before my wife. He showed great care and concern, and legitimately seemed happy for us. Aside from being a delitful person to talk to, Jose provided great service. He kept our drinks full, check on us just enough, and made my wife a recommendation she ended up loving. She had the chicken caprese sandwich, and I had a Cuban sandwich. My wife enjoyed her sandwich a lot, and mine was one of the best Cubans I've had...and I love Cuban sandwiches. The house made pickles were excellent, and the pork and ham were both quite moist. My only complaint was the way the sandwich was cut made it kind of difficult to eat, and that's just picking nits. I really try to avoid going to Dallas, but I'd gladly eat at Kona Grill again when I find myself nearby.

My wife and I were racially profiled and disrespected! I now know that Kona Grill is racially biased and Aaron Mauffray does tha work. We encounter this horrible experience on Valentines day between 7pm -7:20pm at the restaurant by Aaron Mauffray. This is one of the worst customer service we have ever received. After paying for our meals + tip, walked out, leaving the N Park Mall, Aaron ran after us claimed he needed to confirm payment. I was like what do you mean? I gave him the receipt, he looked at it and insisted according to Kona Grill Policy he has to verify payment by going to the back to check the system. He claimed Matthew our server informed him the payment did not go through though Matthew informed us to pay on the machine in our boot. I was like with my receipt in your hands!! He went to the back and returned that the payment was correct. Lets see what Kona Grill Corporate response on racial profiling in my case by their staff or just sweep under the rug!

I have only been to Kona a couple of times. Always for happy hour. The bar menu is very affordable. I have never had table service.

Inside the Northpark Mall. Had some very good calamari, a miso sake sea bass with fried rice and Asian ratatouille (if there is a difference between Asian and regular I missed it) and a passion fruit crème brulee. All very good but.. there were lots of little bugs flying around and the noise level even at an off hour was way to high for my tastes.

We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed some sushi and salads. The staff were very cordial and everyone was pleasant and accomadating. The food is freshly prepared and atmosphere quiet and inviting. Highly recommended.

Lunch at quiet place in the mall was a nice break from after Christmas mall hustle and bustle. The fish tacos appetizer was enough for a meal and very "appetizing". Very good service and food.

Located in Northpark mall, we stopped here for a shopping break. We chose this restaurant because it seemed to have a variety of foods that appealed to our group of six, including small children. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - we had a large double stroller with a sleeping child in it so they put us in a larger space. We ordered burgers and sandwiches and were very pleased with the food. They have a kids menu with a good selection of food items. The portions were large - we took a lot of food back home. Will definitely eat here again.

The avocado rolls are to die for and the margaritas are excellent. Great patio outside and super happy hour prices. My friends and I meet there often.

Great place located beautifully at Northpark mall. Food was very tasty. I had garlic shrimp penne with a vodka and 7. My friend had the shrimp phad Thai noodles. Will definitely come again!

I love this place! The food is excellent... when you dine in. I wish there was more consistency. I always order the shrimp and scallop ceviche. The takeout portion seemed very small and contained very little seafood. A little disappointed yet, his still taste great.

We felt fortunate to find a place open for Christmas as the place I had booked canceled on me. The hostess was not very friendly, perhaps overwhelmed and at first, she acted as though we did not have a reservation. She ultimately honored it and we were seated but I do not exaggerate when I say that we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our food to be served. The food was delicious but when I first sat down and placed my order, I advised I wanted a dessert, and named it. When we were done and the server officially took my dessert order (a piece of cake with ice cream), the wait was so long we finally had them remove it from the bill and left. Their systems are not working and are hurting them as the food is a bit pricier than it seems like it should be considering the poor service.

Stopped into the Plano,TX location for lunch today after a Sat afternoon movie. I've eaten at the location in Northpark Mall many times for business lunches and dinners and have never been disappointed. Unfortunately, the Plano location was at best par. I got the macadamia nut chicken dinner which I've had many times before and it was like they pulled a couple of frozen chicken patties out of the freezer. What happened to the nice coating? Barely any ice in the ice tea, had to ask for more. My friend had the salad that was drenched with dressing so you might want to get it on the side! And then they sat us in the bar area near a couple that were all over each other...like "get a room" all over each other. Really...there were plenty of other tables. Just an overall BAD experience and with all the restaurants around here, no need to go back for more punishment!!!

A friend suggested this place and I am glad that I went. I loved the ambience atmosphere. The sushi was great and the cosmopolitan martini was excellent. Will go again.

This location is in North Park Mall in Dallas. I hate going to the mall but we make an exception because Kona is surprisingly excellent every time. You can park relatively close to the mall entrance & walk right into Kona. The restaurant is bright & clean & tables are spacious & comfortable. The patio is really nice & we love to sit at the outdoor patio bar on nice days. The indoor bar area is small-ish but comfortable w TVs. The kitchen & sushi bar cooks are top quality. Regardless of what we order, it looks great & tastes better. The sushi is so excellent, you will think I'm making it up. I'd put Kona against many of the better sushi restaurants in town. Very fresh fish & excellent sauces. You can order "no rice" or " light rice". Also cucumber can be subbed for rice paper. Servers are well trained & attentive & the Management is visible every time. It's a staple for us- despite the mall "issue"!

The happy hour and reverse happy hour are great....

OK...here's the deal. Show up at North Park after 3:00, and get your movie ticket for a 7:00-ish feature. Then head to Kona Grill for Happy Hour...or two...which runs until 7:00 weekdays & 10:00 Sunday. Drink prices are excellent, and the bar/patio menu offers half-price appetizers that are actually mini-entrées. The rolls from the sushi bar aren't the highest form of the culinary art, but they are ample and a good value during Happy Hour. If you can stand the calories, go for the avocado egg roll...perfect with a frozen margarita! Seating is tricky after 5:00 most nights. If the bar is full, try the sushi bar or brave the elements on the patio. My favorite option is the patio bar with open windows providing AC in the dead of summer and heat when the patio is frosty. Maybe it's the margaritas talking, but seating at the patio bar almost has a resort feel to it. By the time you head to the movie theater, the margaritas have kicked-in and the bar food has satisfied. You are set for the night without spending much cash! Check out the Reverse Happy Hour from 9:00 to 11:00 Monday thru Saturday.

My best friend and I decided after being in workshops all day at a national conference I was attending that we wanted to shop. We made our way to the Northpark Center to shop and while we were there we thought we might as well just eat here! We sat inside and that's when I spotted the Gouda Fondue. Yep. Had to have it! It came with granny smith apples cut up as well small baked pretzels to dip in. It was amazing. I ordered the miso sea bass for my entrée and it was just delicious! All in all it was a great experience and the pricing really wasn't that bad. I had considered eating at the Kona Grill when I was in Phoenix a couple of months ago but, never made it there. Glad I had the chance to try it out!

After a shopping spree we went for dinner. The food was good , the service was quite slow because our waitress was already busy cleaning the salon and the kitchen. The prices are far too high for what you get.

This is the best bet for dining at Northpark Mall. They have a great menu with a good variety. The sushi is MOST excellent, the salads yummy...the Chicken Asian Salad is the BEST, hamburgers, etc. an excellent menu, excellent service, great drinks! Keep in mind at certain times this is a VERY busy restaurant, if you plan to dine here, stop in before shopping and put your name on the wait list IF there is a wait, go shop and come back at your seating time.

Happy Hour on the patio with the sun shining is the place to be any day of the week at Kona. The drink, sushi and pizza specials make it a busy place so come early or be prepared to wait. The Margherita and the BBQ Chicken Pizza are must haves. The sushi is good too. And don't forget a Sake Bomb or two!

Excellent food and service. Happy hour specials are excellent, otherwise a little pricey. Had very attentive waiter during happy hour, he made sure we knew when the specials would be over

I have dined at a Kona Grill in Virginia and it was amazing. The Kona Grill in Dallas was equally amazing. The sushi was great, the salmon was great, the flatbread pizza, the drinks, everything. No complaints. And we had a GREAT waitress!!!

The food was really good and prices are in range... went to the bar to see a game and the staff were very friendly...ask for the beef tacos!
Great Patio Experience!
Open Table patio dining request worked for me and the hubs, however it was mid-afternoon during the week. The happy hour atmosphere is great, the servers are super friendly and all were wearing their masks correctly. Bravo for the bartender with the zipper masks...our cocktails (a cucumber vodka signature and a basic Grey Goose screwdriver) were mixed perfectly. And, the pot stickers appetizers are yummy!
