This is my first visit to this restaurant and pleased to note that they serve freshly made noodles and good soup dumplings. However, I was surprised to see an automatic 18% service charge on my bill as I was dining solo. In addition there was a list of suggested tips of 15%, 18% and 20% and the corresponding amounts at the bottom of the bill. The credit card slip had a line for tips on top of 18% service charge which was included in the total bill. I don't think I will go back to this restaurant.

This unassuming chinese diner packs a punch. I have many favorites since we often order takeouts from here. The chives empanada is fantastic! The wontons are freshly wrapped and served in a light broth. I love the spicy mapo tofu : tender and spicy. Other favorites are their noodles. Stir fried Pak Choy with ginger (we ask them to substitute the garlic).

Delicious food, made with quality ingredients. The beef in my signature ramen dish was tender — just meat, not chewy bits. The veg was clearly fresh, cooked bit still with a little crunch to it so that it was not over cooked. My dish was very mild with just nice spicy accents, but they were willing to up the spice level for those interested. The soup dumplings were nice, but not very soupy, if you know what I mean.

This place is small and seating is tight. However we knew this prior to going! Food was amazing ordered the house ramen and dumplings prices are NYC price

Had the Wonton Soup. Fantastic! Cozy, unpretentious. Wish we had a restaurant half this good where I live. Extensive menu with a good variety of options

Chaotic restaurant, full of people at all hours, we had dinner with the classics of Asian cuisine. The dishes were hot of course, you have to wait at least 5 minutes before eating. Great location, also used for takeaway, we sat in the middle of the room and they brought us everything quickly. No alcohol is served, this is not a plus for us:) But overall nice experience.

Great after-show or pre-show snack! The Peking Duck buns at Kung Fu are fabulous. Service is nice and quick, price is right. Flavor is intense, five-spice, ginger, great sauce...yum yum! All for $7.95!

Decent bun and ramen restaurant. I ordered the "Special Ramen" which contains shrimp, beef, hard-boiled egg, bok choi, cilantro, and hand-cut noodles in pork-based broth. The broth wasn't as rich as I like and had too much cilantro. The hand-cut noodles were thicker than typical, and although tasty, aren't worth the extra $1 added to the cost of the bowl. Restaurant also has extensive offering of steamed buns including soup dumplings.

The soup dumplings are delicious, everything on the menu that we ordered was cooked and tasted like perfection. The service was amazing, in the day time they were bokked solid and in the evening it was easier to get a table. we were only in NY for 6 days and we ate gere 4 times. Loved the food

I was visiting New York with some family friends. Getting later towards the evening, friends and I were in need of some sustenance, and we couldn't figure out where to go. Until I searched Kung Fu Little Steamed Buns. Man what a great choice it was! I saw that they had soup dumplings as well stir fried ramen, or other stir fried dishes. Entering the small space we were greeted and sat down pretty much immediately. Service was really great and the food came out very quickly as well. The soup dumplings as mentioned earlier were very delicious and the way they were presented were as I expected. The dishes my friends had were presented very well too and were prepared as such. The food overall was very good and the prices were very affordable too. What I liked best about this small restaurant was the mom and pop feel of it. The atmosphere was lively, especially since it was almost closing time and the noise level wasn't too bad. Overall, a really great place to go to if you're looking for great food with great service in a reasonable amount of time!

Tucked away in the heart of Manhattan, Kung Fu Steamed Bun Ramen serves up some seriously satisfying Chinese comfort food. Having received Michelin recognition in 2018, expectations were high-and they didn't disappoint! Little Steamed Buns - The delicate, thin skin held a rich, savory soup that burst out upon the first bite. A must-try for soup dumpling lovers! Stir-Fried Hand-Cut Noodles with Beef - The wok hei (that amazing smoky stir-fry aroma) was spot on, but the dish leaned a bit salty for my taste. Still, the texture of the hand-cut noodles was excellent. Shrimp & Pork Dumpling Soup - My personal favorite! The dumplings were generously sized, with tender, juicy filling swimming in a flavourful broth. Pure comfort in a bowl! Sticky Rice Balls in Sweet Rice Soup - A warm, hearty way to end the meal. The chewy rice balls, filled with fragrant black sesame, added the perfect touch of sweetness. If you're craving authentic Chinese flavours with solid execution, this spot is definitely worth a visit. What's your go-to dish when eating Chinese? Let me know in the comments.

We were looking for a meal before heading to the airport and this restaurant was not far from our hotel, we asked a few questions but the waiter did not seem to make the effort to explain the dishes and as foreigners it was a bit hard to understand, the noodles were okay but we ordered spring rolls and they were hard, probably reheated through microwave and tasteless, when paying it was a bit cold as well.

We went for the dumplings and loved those and the main dishes. Service fantastic. Dishes delicious and hot.

Whilst visiting my step daughter and her husband they took my wife and I to experience one of their favourite Chinese restaurants. We had never tried "steamed buns" so we were in for a new experience. We had a mixture of noodles, steamed buns, dumplings and a couple of other dishes. They were all delicious. The only disappointment was that the menu had beers on it, including a Chinese one, but they were not able to serve it to us. The meal was reasonably priced at $96.63 excluding tips. The service was okay slightly marred by the waiter not really speaking any English but we managed to communicate okay. An interesting visit and we would probably go back again sometime when visiting.

Its nice to find a pleasant, clean Chinese restaurant. The food is not spicy, well made. The waiters are very nice and provide very good service.

Your typical Chinese joint - not large, not small, not fancy outside or inside, with a Chinese TV station and Chinese music on. So, you come here for food. And the food is good, especially the steamed buns! Mmmm, mmmm, mmm... Ramen was okay, I've been to better places. The service was very quick. The check - not too expensive. I ordered two dishes, but an average person can do away with one - the portions are quite big.

Do not judge this place by the looks, we had lots of food, from dumplings, steamed buns to the homemade noodles! The service was good and food was quick! This is a lovely little place if you don’t want any fuss and great authentic food!

We were in search of an early lunch, and were checking out the menu in the window of Kung Fu. A gentleman entering assured us that it offered the 'best noodles in the neighborhood,' so we decided to try it. The modest storefront opens to a fairly spacious dining area, and we were seated at once. As it happens, we were lucky, as every table was soon full, and a line of hungry folks waited patiently. We soon found out why--the food was great! The menu is broad, with a variety of noodle and dumpling options. We tried the ramen--fresh, properly sauced, piping hot, and loaded with beef and crisp veggies. Portions were huge (and a bargain at $12). Dishes at the tables around us looked equally delectable. A good choice--recommend highly.

It's not fine dining and you're crammed in with other diners but you'll be rewarded with tasty xiao long bao (I heard them referred to as soup dumplings by locals, which describes them accurately!) The soup noodles are nice but I found the fried noodles to be a bit bland and salty. At least the noodles are handmade and chewy.

Quick yummy and good. Right across from where we were staying so we thought why not. Glad we did. The dumplings were great but the pancakes both beef and scallion were fantastic.

This was a great find. We found it on TripAdvisor as it was near our hotel and had the right menu. Food was really good, service was very friendly. Will very happily return when next in NY.

The food is tasty and the place is pretty… but is not super cheap i would say the average price per person goes from 30 to 50. The dumplings are really good

Dinner before the show. Soup dumplings were really fantastic. The broth was as good as it gets. We got crab and also shrimp, everyone liked both. We also had the super duper Kung Fu Beef soup, or some such silly name. Super rich broth, fresh made noodles, and tons of beef and bok choy. Tasty spot

Great place for Ramen and delicious dumplings. The food and crew were great and plenty of sitting space.

Jan and Feb are terribly cold in NYC and food at this place is so better tasting with the weather to accompany it. They have soup noodles, dumplings, ramen etc. Service is good and food is tasty.

Amazing soup dumplings. Very good pork dumplings, shrimp and pork wonton soup. Fried Ramen noodles are like lo mein — good but not stellar.

This tiny restaurant packs a lot in, tables are crammed together and servers squeeze through tight spaces - which is all part of the fun. The food is amazing - dumplings, noodles, buns - classic street food all are absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable and service is speedy and friendly.

This is a very pretty restaurant with some interesting decorations and very helpful staff. Service was very fast and very pleasant on a busy luncheon period -- around 1:00 on a Thursday. Very clean, especially the Men's Room. The food seemed quite bland to me, and took quite a bit of sriracha sauce to bring it alive. The fish was quite fresh and cooked on the raw side which is my strong preference. The ramen was ok but nothing special -- it seemed a bit heavy to my taste.

Feels like the very best of Chinatown, but it's in midtown! This new hole in the wall isn't going to stay a secret for very long. Great red bean bao, and soup dumplings. The ramen broth tastes made-from -scratch real, and it's a pleasure to slurp. Does Daniel Chang lurk in the kitchen? I'd believe it because this place is inspired.

We only found this place as we had been on a "Ziggy food tour" earlier that day and visited the original restaurant on 8th Avenue, we would probably never have gone in otherwise. We had delicious pork and prawn soup dumplings for the second time that day which had a lovely flavour and texture. Two of us tried the noodles with prawns which was also good. The scallion pancake is delicious and very moreish. Wine is quite expensive and service a bit slow and haphazard which should not happen in a nearly empty restaurant. Relatively cheap and certainly good value for New York.

The Ramen noodles were great. Big portions. Dumplings were also delicious. Place is small, so we had to wait about 15-20 min., but they took our order while we waited and food was ready when we git to the table. They also offer carry out and delivery.

Had great hopes for this restaurant-steamed buns were really good, but other dishes not as successful. Kungfu beef was very good, Duck ramen was bland but good, shrimp fried noodles were pretty good. The (bad) stand out was mala tang-not only was it very bland, but it had a very thick oil slick on top which made it almost inedible. Would only order steamed buns if I returned...

I ordered take out to eat at the AirBNB rental we have just across the street. The noodles were fresh and the broth was yummy. Reasonably priced ramen if you are in the mood for it in NYC. Too bad the dumplings take forever to make, I would have ordered it if I wasn't in a rush.

The raw materials appear to be ready to hand but the finished product misses the mark. Chicken dumplings said to take 20 minutes to prepare actually took less than 10 but appeared with overly chewy dough and chicken ground to the consistency of mush. Both fried and steamed duck ramen arrived with excessively fatty, chewy and bony duck pieces. Fried noodles were far too oily and ramen broth was weak and tepid. Peking duck buns were far too mushy inside. All in all, just another noodle and dim sum venue that seems to have had potential but missed the mark widely at least during our visit.

Oh my gosh! This was our first time trying handmade noodles and soup buns. We were not disappointed. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and delicious.

Clean but small restaurant in Midtown that has fantastic soup dumplings (xiao long bao, or XLB). Scallion pancakes were also good. Sticky rice shu mai are ok -- very think and heavy. Just go for the XLB.

This is a great place if you like dumplings, handmade noodles and ramen soups!the wonton soup is outstanding and the size is pretty large!so are the dumplings either fried or steamed ,we had em all and they were awesome! The house special noodles is a very tasty dish!we were there twice within a week!

This is a small dive of a restaurant with AWESOME soup. We really enjoyed our meals. Don't judge appearance. Highly recommend.

I ordered it delivery. The soup came in two containers. One with the noodles and vegetables; and the other with the broth!! So smart!! The food was delicious !!

This has become my pre-show go-to place. It’s yummy, cheap and fast. Plus the menu generally has something for everyone. The soup dumplings are a must. Also like the mushroom and bok choy steamed buns. Nom

Took out food twice from this restaurant which is directly across the street from Hilton Garden Inn on 8th Avenue. Price was very high compared to similar restaurants in San Francisco and Houston. The hand cut noodles were very tasty but all noodle dishes seemed to be "stingy" concerning veggies so we ordered a dish of bok choi which seemed high $12.95 just for stir fried bok choy. The scallion pancakes with beef was a tiny serving fo $8.95. Servings of stir fried ramen and hand cut noodles were very generous and delicious. But no plain steamed white rice!

It was right next to our hotel so we gave it a shot. Was surprised by how good it was. They make authentic dumplings and steam buns that's reminiscent of those from Shanghai itself. Worth a try!

It was New years day 2017 and our two families were hungry. We walked around to some of our regular Ramen joints but they were either closed or sold out. Just as we got back to the car, we noticed Kung Fu. I quickly checked the ratings and it looked as if we had a winner! With 6 of us, we had a chance to try quite a few different things. Here is how it went: First of all there is a lady in a windowed booth making fresh dumplings and buns as you order. In the back there is a window with a noodle chef throwing noodle dough in the air making fresh noodles. This is indeed a good sign. The menu had a wide variety of Ramen dishes at a very reasonable price (starting in the $9 range und up) with the option for the hand made noodles for $1. We ordered pork dumplings, pork buns, scallion pancakes, duck ramen, beef ramen, a chicken non soup ramen, and a house special ramen. I thought the beef ramen was great but.......it is not really traditional ramen. That said, it was really a nice Chinese ramen like soup. The dumplings and buns were however absolutely out of site! The scallion pancakes were awesome, the vinegar dip was awesome. This place was quite clean as they have just remodeled. The staff was friendly, so I would say this place is a winner! An added bonus is the owner made a noodle making documentary and has it looping on the TV.

Really great, casual Ramen restaurant. Friendly service and food was delicious and reasonable. We were staying in the Blue Angel Hotel next door so it was super convenient. Also other tasty dishes like the Mala mix which was really unusual - delicious. Spicy, sweet and sour mix of veg and rice. It was probably one of the better meals we had in Manhattan and certainly the best value.

Good stuff, perfect for a quick bite, service was very quick. Had the ramen soup and dumplings, both were very good.

During our recent visit to NYC my husband and I were walking in Hell's Kitchen on the way to the GO bus station at 9th Avenue and 30th Street. We came across Kung Fu and stopped in to get steamed bun for lunch on the bus. This tiny little spot serves delicious steamed buns at an affordable price. We recommend it highly if you're in the neighborhood.

We liked our meal here, two plates of stir fried ramen and a plate of dumplings. All of it was fine, and the price was very right (especially for NYC). But in the end, it was just an average plate of ramen. I'd eat here again, but I might check out the other nearby ramen shops looking for better.

It was awesome and authentic! Ordered all the Michelin awarded dishes and it was fantastic!!! Everyone was very kind and the prices were excellent!! The Won Ton Soup was the best I’ve ever had!

Really deserves its high trip advisor rating - always busy - worth the wait - usual tiny place with people packed in - embarrassing for people like me who always drop their dumplings - but worth it!

Very good food and very affordable. I had the steamed pork buns which where very good and the roast duck ramen. The ramen was also very nice but impossible to eat without making your hands dirty. Definitely recommend this place.
Terrific Takeaway
Couldn't be bothered going out for dinner after a hard day sightseeing so ordered some food to go. Dim sum, beef with peppers and Ramen soup. Great food, great service and inexpensive. A real gem.
