What a great neighborhood gem for some out of towners. We hate the tourist traps of midtown and love Greenwich Village for some outstanding food. Had no reservations and they sat us at the chef's table--dinner and a show! Started with the beet salad and little gem salad--both some of the best ever had. Came here specifically for the GF pasta, and it was outstanding. Had the GF pasta with bolognese and then the lamb ragu--again, perfecto! Great wine selection--picked out a Ligurian wine we'd never had. Even though we were at the chef's table, the service was thoughtful. Only suggestion is to have a GF bread service option. Even if it is just a cracker or even some crudite, it is awkward for bread service for one to come out and offer nothing else.

L'Artusi is one of those restaurants which fits whatever role you want it to be: romantic restaurant for two, group of friends sharing a meal, business dinner - the service and the food will mold your experience into the best of whatever your want, and the mood of whatever you're looking for. The menu is classic modern Italian, the portions are hearty enough to satisfy but don't let some of the sizes fool you - you can easily leave a meal feeling full (in a satisfying 'this was one of the best dinners I've ever had" rather than an all-you-can-eat gluttonfest). The wine list is massive, don't skip the cheese plates either - they will set a great tone to the meal. The service is friendly, accommodating and very knowledgable about dishes, wine pairings and all things culinary. The only other advice to diners is to leave a little room for dessert.

A gem of a restaurant. From the welcome to the table by our waitress through to the food we were served it was a fantastic experience. Yes it’s noisy but it has a great atmosphere. There was a large queue waiting for a table - we had reserved - but we never felt rushed in any way. All of the dishes we had were outstanding. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Truly wonderful homemade pasta dishes. Party of 4 ordered 4 different pastas to share and all of us were unable to pick a favorite because they were all so excellent. Superb service

Came for a late reservation with three others on Valentine's weekend. The place was very busy but our reservation was ready as soon as we all arrived. The server Will was spectacular. My wife noted her pregnancy and they immediately pointed out which cheeses were pasteurized which was a great touch. The portions were medium sized and recommended for sharing but when they arrived they were all large enough to be a meal by themselves. Everyone at the table was more than satisfied with the quality. Will definitely return.

Love the decor, cheerful for the day time! Our table of 4 was very satisfied with the brunch options. Great service with a smile !

I waited months to get a reservation at L'Artusi - you really have to plan ahead and reserve at exactly 12am one month before your desired reservation date. The wait was well worth it. I came here to celebrate my mom's birthday, and we both loved the experience. We started off with the house made ricotta and roasted mushrooms. The ricotta was an absolute highlight of the evening. For our main courses, we ordered the eggplant parmesan, the fluke, the orecchiette and the brussels sprouts. All delicious, although I found the pasta to be a bit too salty after awhile. For dessert, we had the olive oil cake, which my mom said was one of the best she had ever tasted. For the quality of the food and the portion sizes, the prices were very reasonable. I look forward to dining here again!

The appetizers were fantastic. The pasta tastes more like a ramen (probably not using the right flour or a mixture ) hence their al dante pasta ends up being undercooked instead of tasting actually al Dante. This is a huge red flag for an Italian restaurant. The pasta bolognese tasted more like ramen bolognese. The bite is initially very plastic and then just suddenly cuts through the pasta indicating the potential use of gelatin or some form of an ingredient that pushes the pasta over the edge to a ramen. Second big red flag is the overall feeling of entitlement across the workers. They don’t sound The experience felt like a bit off for a place that is supposed to be really highly regarded. Any small Italian restaurant in Italian town would be both better and better spent money. Avoid it!!!

So glad we had this little gem recommended to us by a resident New Yorker! We were lucky to get a table as it’s fully booked a month in advance. Great atmosphere and service and STUNNING food! Started with the special starter of ricotta with buttermilk crackers - something I’d never usually choose but beautiful creamy ricotta and plenty of flavoursome crackers. Husband had the anchovy and potato salad - a great combination of flavours, beautifully presented and without the anchovies overpowering the dish. Lovely flavoured pasta mains and topped off with a moist olive oil sponge and crème fraîche mousse - incredible! If you can get a table - GO!

I made a booking for myself and when I turned up, was asked if I wanted to sit at the bar. This really annoys me because they obviously just want to keep the table for couples. I sat at the bar and wasn’t given a wine list and instead, the waiter made recommendations and didn’t give me the prices. Turns out I ordered a $17 glass of wine! My fault for not asking I know but I hate when restaurants do this. I had one of the special pasta dishes which was just ok, a side of Brussel Sprouts which was huge and good and the icecream for dessert which was also ok but nothing special. The service was average. The waiter that served me at the beginning disappeared and then someone else took over and there was a chunk of time where I just sat there with my empty plates. I wouldn’t bother going back, nor recommend it - there are plenty of other good places in NYC.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Both food and service was impeccable. Great Martini’s. Pricey but definitely worth it.pasta was amazing.

The restaurant offers limited choice for vegetarians but for non-vegetarians there is a good choice of dishes. We had booked our table in advance. The place was very lively even for early sitting. The bread was great whilst we were going through the menu. We ordered beets-pistachio butter, scallop crudo, spaghetti with garlic, Ricotta morels peas parcels and tagliatelle bolo. Salted chocolate cake for desert was great way to finish off. Everything was very well presented, tasted great and received service with smile from Hollis. I will recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

I had a really lovely dinner here. All the appetizers were delicious and my pasta was yummy. The mocktail was one of the best I've had too. The service was very good too and the atmosphere here is good.

I'll say it, I love gnocchi, so much so that I go out of my way attempting to find places that serve it. Outside of Italy, L'Artuisi has one of the best gnocchi dishes I've ever eaten. I can't even remember what my wife ordered because I was on a gnocchi high. I can honestly say that if/when I travel into the city again, I will dinner here again (assuming gnocchi is still on the menu of course). Now I'm sad I'm not currently eating gnocchi....

L’Artusi is everything a restaurant should be. It’s not fussy or pretentious but it does elegant, delicious, simple food incredibly well. I can’t recommend highly enough the spaghetti which was so simple but so tasty. We also had the orecchiette with sausage, salumi and pecorino, and a taster of a dish straight from the kitchen as a taster which was ravioli with ravioli in the most indulgent buttery sauce. Wine was pretty pricy (prices started at about $60). I already want to go back.

Outstanding food and service. All the dishes where great. There are many vegetarian options and they are great. The sea food was also great.

Good authentic Italian restaurant. Pasta 8/10 Roasted chicken 10/10 . Olive oil cake was fantastic but soooo sweet . Tables too close but that’s normal in Manhattan or Ny !!

I like to share, put everything in the middle! And try as many tastes possible. If you go there get the mushrooms with the egg on top. Mushrooms are not my thing but I never had such a delicious dish with mushrooms I must admit. Get the fresh salad with Parmesan cheese, so fresh and lemony really. Ice, beef carpaccio good, and excellent oven baked deer with grapes- dish of the day - if you are lucky and they serve it just get it. Very low lights easy atmosphere, too close the tables to one another. Ask for a table downstairs or just eat at the bar if you are 2, upstairs not so nice.

Our table of 5 was very happy with our week night visit for dinner. We thouroughly enjoyed the ricotta gnudi and rabbit gnocchi as our two favorite dishes, but everything was good to excellent. The server was very knowledgeable around the wines and I appreciated being able to taste a couple before final pours were given.

A very trendy place, judging from the well dressed beautiful people. L'Artusi was recommended by a chef from NYC who lives in the neighborhood. The cocktails were excellent, service was good, dinner was good but not truly impressive. The bill was quite reasonable.

5* cuisine, with surprisingly low price points. Friendly, expert, professional, attentive service. No wonder it’s so hard to get a reservation here. Amuse bouche of a small ramekin of chilled cauliflower and fennel soup. Octopus, had a light char on tender sweet meat, accented with pancetta and chilies. Really good potatoes and olives (castelvetrano?) rounded out dish. Ravioli, mushroom filled in a cream sauce. We dined very late. This was a special that night, and they comped us 4 of these little gems, as special likely didn’t sell out. Spaghetti, as described by our server, was somewhat similar to cacio pepe. Cooked in Parmesan water, with garlic scapes, a hint of chilies, and Parmesan. It was superb, perhaps best spaghetti we have ever had. Pici, with an unctuous lamb neck ragu, and a dollop of ricotta. Like spaghetti, pasta was cooked perfectly. Another leave this to professionals, not amateurs, dish. Huge Italian wine list, high quality with high prices to match. We had an excellent bottle of soave classico. White wines pair well with food offerings at L’Artusi.

What a fabulous restaurant! The food is gorgeous service is really good and the wines heavenly. A great neighbourhood restaurant that is a must visit while in town.

Had a lovely meal in this busy hot spot. Needed a starter choice that wasn't raw. Ordered the fresh ricotta which was small but delicious. The Butter Lettuce salad was really good. Our entrees included the Garganelli, which again was delicious, but I found it a little dry. We also ordered the Roasted Chicken. I never order chicken when out but decided to give it a go with waiter's recommendation. It was the most delicious chicken dish we have ever tasted. Thanks to the waiter for the recommendation, its nice to branch out.

Love love love L’artusi, the food, the ambiance, cocktails, amazing service. By far my favourite NYC restaurant. We have since moved from nyc but make it a point to reserve in advance if we know we are going. Defi have the mushroom dishes all amazing, in house bread is awesome, fish, the olive oil cake, divine divine, never go wrong w any dish here. Ask your server for recommendations.

Arrived during posted business hours...the lack of host or greeting for ten minutes bumped diners to outside of claimed kitchen service window...busy servers seemed relieved to no have more patrons due to claimed kitchen closure. Disappointing experience.

For delicious pastas, look no further than L'Artusi. Hidden behind an ordinary door is a lively spacious and busy restaurant bustling with diners till late at night. We were lucky to get a table on a Saturday night. Morgan and others at the front desk were very cordial and helpful. Initially we did not get a pleasant or patient waiter but upon complaining, we were taken seriously and got excellent service thereafter. The food is well prepared and very flavorful. The portions are slightly on the smaller side but what they lack in quantity, is made up in quality! I would definitely go back especially for the pastas and the olive oil cake that looked ordinary but tasted divine!

A fiend recommended this and as we were exploring downtown NYC anyway it presented an opportunity to check it out. We went for lunch and there was good availability at the bar so we took our reservation there. We shared starters and pastas and finished off with he branzino. The cocktails were also nice and I recommend the Fathoms Below.

L’Artusi is a very buzzy Italian restaurant that you need the skills of a ninja to get a table for each month. If you do, you’ll really enjoy it but expect to pay a proper price. There might be better value Italians in New York if I’m honest but you come here to enjoy good food in a place you’ve had to hustle to get a table. PS I will say the mushrooms are divine. Order them!

You won’t be able to enjoy a meal if friends only but if you have a date could be a chance as you will think it’s a fashion and a in place to go Food quality was unacceptable. We had five entree and 4 main course. Staffs never offer to change new plate for you and could you imagine even main dish could use a plate for entree. Beef carpaccio and beef are only food could pass as nothing else are delicious and portion are petite. Unbelievable that you are eating in America Good luck

You need to book this little gem very far in advance of your planned date as it's pretty much full every night. If it's only two of you then you might get a seat at the bar at short notice but if it's 4 or more book way in advance. Food is delicious and full of flavour - a serious about food restaurant. Wine List is extensive and mostly pricey but isn't it everywhere in NY but you can get decent bottles at OK prices. This is not your Little Italy type of restaurant!! Atmosphere relaxed casual and fun

Absolutely love this place and have been a few times. The food and the service are always excellent. Can be a little noisy, but it doesn't dampen the experience. High notes for the staff; incredibly accommodating and friendly. All of the pastas were delicious. On one of my visits there was a seasonal cocktail with homemade grape juice and vodka, PLEASE BRING THIS BACK.

This was a highlight of our trip to New York. Highly recommended by a knowledgeable family friend we successfully made a booking for four, It was well worth it and the food there is really very, very good. The raw scallops in lemon juice and olive oil, sliced wafer thin, were delicate and divine. I had the spaghetti which was a very simple dish yet cooked to perfection. It was a little bit spicer that I prefer but still mouth-watering. As is often noted, the wine-list is almost an encyclopedia of Italian wines with wonderful, accessible descriptions of each region's wines. If you love grappa like I do, then try the 3 taster option at the end of your wonderful meal. As we were a table of four, we had to book online which can be a challenge to get in early enough, given this restaurants popularity. You can try your luck as a walk-in and eat at the bar which looks like a great option. Well worth a visit and it will be a meal to remember and cherish!

Pellegrino Artusi was a 19th Century Italian businessman and writer who published “Science in the kitchen and the Art of Eating Well”, a book relevant to this day and expensive when found, even at used book sites like Abebooks. A friend mentioned the restaurant by this name in the Village and this, of course, intrigued me and I went to check out their brunch. As it turned out, the place is bright and friendly, with open kitchen and great service. The food choices were somewhat limited, but hey, this was brunch! I liked he chicory salad with Parmgiano & anchovies dressing, served with the dressing on the side, as requested, while my partners in crime enjoyed the Artusi scramble (sausage, peperonata, pecorino, crispy potatoes ) and French toast with caramelized bananas. The wine list was extensive, featuring Italian wines only, with amazing lack of affordable ones, why doesn't this surprise me, it's Manhattan! When we questioned the lack of French wines on the menu, we were told “This is an Italian restaurant!”. However, no Italian restaurant worth its colors would serve food without bread, which turned out to be the case here. To their credit, when we complained, they did manage to bring us a few slices of stale bread, toasted and buttered to cover up its age. The food was not expensive, but you don't go to brunch to drink water. I recommend they read Mr. Artusi's book about the Art of Eating Well...

Such a wonderful event. Each course brought tasty delights. I was in heaven! We had a pretty large group and tried so many things, here's a few: dayboat scallops - so fresh/sweet, roasted mushrooms - melted in my mouth, gnocchi rabbit, tomato Parmesan - too good to share, but I did, and then the tuna- perfectly prepared and adorned! Too full for dessert but we got 2 of each!

We booked L’artusi after learning that their sister restaurant del Anima is closing. We had to settle for a 10 PM reservation since there was nothing earlier but that was fine since it’s 7 PM West Coast time Our server Heather was excellent but she really couldn’t save the food which was quite disappointing. A poorly prepared octopus dish and overcooked pasta. None of the other dishes were well prepared in my opinion. I know it was late and the kitchen may have been tired but at these prices you have to do better. I place has a nice sexy vibe and was packed when we arrived but hard to imagine people go there for the food. I wouldn’t.

Loved our time at L'artusi. The food was delicious and innovative. The waiter was very attentive, especially to our timely dinner as we were going to the theater afterwards. He was very knowledgeable about the wine list, certain foods, and had great recommendations. We loved the ambiance and setting of the restaurant. Such a great spot in the West Village. I can see why it is one of the top spots in the city!

My recent visit to this Italian restaurant was a real treat, with a few hiccups. The staff was fantastic—warm, professional, and attentive without hovering. Their menu knowledge and enthusiasm made the meal feel extra special. The Hugo Spritz was an absolute gem and a must-try—refreshing, light, and perfectly balanced with elderflower and prosecco. It set the tone for the day! The pasta was another highlight, showcasing the kitchen’s talent. I had the tagliatelle with ragù, cooked al dente with rich, savory flavors that were pure comfort on a plate. The olive cake dessert was a delightful surprise—moist, subtly sweet, with an earthy olive twist that worked beautifully. It’s a bold choice that left me impressed and curious about their other desserts. The only letdown was the outdoor seating. My table was too close to a trash bin, which brought an unpleasant smell and ruined the otherwise charming patio with its string lights and cozy vibe. It was hard to fully enjoy the setting because of this. Despite the outdoor issue, the stellar service, amazing Hugo Spritz, delicious pasta, and unique olive cake make this place a winner. I’d highly recommend it but suggest sticking to indoor seating for the best experience. With a little tweak to the patio setup, this could be a top Italian spot!

The fresh pasta dishes were top notch. We had the bucatini and the Cacio e Pepe (also bucatini). Amazing. Also excellent was the very thoughtful wine list which was organized my Italian region. They had our favorite red wine from Sicily. Coming in at less than 5 stars was the focaccia (served cold and not very flavorful), the roasted chicken (quite heavy and somewhat burnt) and the roasted potatoes (also a little burnt but the ricotta salata was very good). Lively energy in the place and would definitely go back for the pasta, nice Italian bottle of wine and the olive oil cake (the reviews are right - so good!). We would slightly put Il Buco ahead of L'Artusi.

This spot has definitely been “discovered”. Great food, especially the fresh pasta, but now noisy and impossible to get a table.

I have dined at this West Village Italian eatery for some years and the food and service continues to shine. Book weeks in advance if you want to reserve a table or take a chance at bar seating which is unreserved and available on a first-come-first-serves basis. The menu generally is excellent but the pasta dishes are the standout in my view. All house made pasta, prepared with tons of fresh ingredients and flavor. The dessert menu is short with good sweets coverage but I love the Olive oil cake the best.

Went above and beyond to recognize and help us to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Service was second to none. Great drinks and perfect date night atmosphere. Good feel for the local NY neighborhood in West Village.

My buddy and I went here the other night. It’s conducive to a fun time. They have great dishes (very creative) that were very tasty. They are a little bigger than the normal tapas and are easily shareable. They are like Italian big tapas. So much fun and so good. Great atmosphere too. Have fun!

This is a cool place, the service was great even though they offered my fish dish in the same way steak is offered, i.e. Rare medium rare etc. There is no need for this level of pretension. The food was great and the a good selection of wines by the glass. Will definitely return.

I received the following advice before I visited and would recommend the same to you. Visit as a group of two and sit at the bar. Order a bottle of wine, they have a great selection and many at reasonable prices. Order the ricotta cheese with the homemade crackers appetizer along with the mushroom appetizer. If a mushroom appetizer doesn't sound appealing just ignore your instincts, it was fantastic. Order two pasta dishes and share. Each pasta dish we ordered was delicious. Don't be deterred if you can't book a reservation online, if you have a small enough party take your chances for bar seating. Enjoy!

Recently visited B’artusi (L’artusi’s sister restaurant) on Fathers Day for brunch with our young baby and it was an incredible experience! We ordered off the daily menu and highlights of our meal were the beef tartare and fluke crudo! Our waiter Jacob was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly and made our experience that extra special!

Clearly everyone knows this is a great place judging by the long line out the door when the restaurant opens at 5:30. We sat at the bar since we didn’t have a reservation but it’s also my preferred place to sit anyway I love the interchange with the waitstaff and the bartender it just makes for an experience I enjoy. But enjoy we did especially the great Italian fare! We all like brussels sprouts I think, but these, roasted and a generous portion at that hit the spot! Bolognese pasta, a traditional dish was nonetheless made special with the homemade pasta strands. However most of the other entrées were far more unique than this. The chicory salad was different and delicious a very generous helping that could easily be shared by two maybe even three. The wine pours were most generous....Go and enjoy this place....The reservations if you want a table are a must the bar is another option but clearly gets very crowded fast!

We finally secured a table in this wonderful sophisticated Italian restaurant. The menu is so enticing. We both had crudo(raw whatever....meat, fish) for starters. I had fluke that had been marinated in beet juice overnight and served in a interesting sauce with thinly sliced grapes and apples. My guest had hamachi also garnished with fruit. The presentation of both was very artistic. I could not resist the gem salad that was absolutely enchanting...entire pieces of lettuce stacked upon one another like a many layer cake with shaved Gorgonzola on top like new fallen snow. It was stunning.Hidden beneath the “snow” and also between layers was a mixture of chopped hazelnuts and olives. Simply divine. We both chose interesting pasta dishes. I had tagliatelle bolognese Bianco, simple but simply delicious. My guest had Pici, a pasta with a rage of meat from lamb’s necks, again creative and rewarding. We over indulged since it was our first experience and ordered two sides: the crispy potatoes were scrumptious and came with a dollop of some cream and horseradish combo which was whipped. Do amazing were the flavors together! We also ordered the Brussels sprouts, both of which will be terrific with dinner tonight! Lovely bubbly before and a pleasant red wine with. A superlative meal at a reasonable price. My recommendation: you can wait forever for a reservation( up to a month ahead) or take a chance, especially early in the week, or early in the evening and sit either at their classic bar, or at a counter facing the kitchen. Truly a joyful eating experience.

My family booked L'Artusi's second-floor wine room for an intimate dinner for 12 to celebrate a family wedding, and it proved to be the perfect venue for our celebration. Both the food and service were pitch-perfect. The wait staff was helpful and efficient without ever being intrusive. Our extensive menu, a selection of greatest hits from the restaurant's regular menu, was to die for. My favorites included the fluke crudo, the roasted mushroom appetizer with egg and ricotta salata, the gnocchi with black trumpet mushrooms, the branzino, and the signature olive oil cake. This dinner ranks among the very best I've had in NYC. The wine room was a great venue for our private dinner. It can seat up to 14 people, and has a very reasonable minimum spend ($2000) for such an in-demand place. Other popular restaurants my family checked out in the vicinity required far higher minimum spends for their private dining rooms. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of L'Artusi.

The atmosphere bustles and the noise level is a bit on the high side....frequented by a primarily young crowd. We lucked out having a table at the back of the room in a corner. The waiter was exceptional (A+)....Abdul. He couldn't have done more to make our meal enjoyable. Our party of three had one kettle one martini, two 1/2 glasses of wine, one butter lettuce salad two delicious pork chops (very generous and great flavor/seasoning), one spaghetti with garlic sauce one vegetarian ravioli (delicious), one crispy brussel sprouts (very good), and one panna cotta (not as enjoyable as the rest of the dinner). The bread was great.. This is definitely worth a return visit on our next trip to New York.....if we can get a reservation. Reserve early.....they are always jumping. All of this for $186 including tip. When it's good it's worth the $$$$ and I think this is relatively reasonable for New York.

A must visit when in the village. Great menu items which are unique and delicious. Definitely a nice special occasion destination.

Three of us dined here off spec at 1830 one Friday evening, we were appointed a table with a two hour slot. It appears to be a popular restaurant in the West Village. We had the ricotta and Carpaccio to start, which we shared, then we shared three pasta dishes. The special seafood pasta, the beef and the mushroom, all were excellent providing an amazing blend of flavours. We finished with the raspberry sweet and the corn sundae, both were a fitting end to a lovely meal.. The wine list is extensive, with no house wines available, I chose a montepulciano d’abruzzo “concrete,” which was a nice red, however at $65 one of the cheapest! Overall an enjoyable meal in a relaxing environment with really good produce and excellent service.

Great Italian that we wouldn't have known about until a friend recommended! So glad we had dinner here during our visit to NYC - the food was delicious. It was so busy for a Tuesday night so would recommend booking as the host was turning people away when we were waiting for our table.

We love L'Artusi. Its one of the NYC best restaurants that should be in LA, Vegas, etc. But its not, you can only their signature dishes in Manhattan, and they are soooo good. Its really a local place. Warm, comfortable and friendly. Highly reccomend @nickellfamilytravel

Great spot. The kale salad, cacio pepe, bolognese bianco, and olive oil cake were delicious. The drinks and ambiance were also great!

Celebrated our engagement dinner with my future in-law and it was very memorable. The service was exceptional - a casual version of what you will get in a fine dining 5 star restaurant. Very attentive and friendly staff from front of the house to wait staff. Restroom on the 2nd floor could use a little TLC and additional lighting. Food was amazing. The roasted mushroom with pancetta and fried egg was superb. Tagliatelle and Oreciette was a good pasta recommendation from the waiter along with the 32oz porterhouse steak, roasted chicken and side dishes. Seemed a lot of food for 4 and we definitely had leftovers. For dessert the olive oil cake is a must! This place book in advance and strongly recommend making one no later than 30-60 days prior to your visit.

Nice space with varied menu and lots of great seafood choices. Able to chat and catch up in an intimated banquet

My wife and I went here with our two sons and new daughter in law on her recommendation. The restaurant was absolutely buzzing. Our waiter who reminded me of Hugh Grant was superb. We enjoyed the highly recommended potatoes and the mushrooms as appetisers which were superb. All our mains were again superb though not huge. But an exceptional experience

L'Artusi was suggested to us for a special occasion dinner. Getting a reservation was very difficult but we arrived at 6:00 pm on a Thursday evening in mid June and could have sat down at the bar with empty seats available as late as 7:30. Despite the difficulty in getting a reservation, it was worth the effort. Decore is casual and men were there wearing t shirts so you need not dress up. Service was very attentive, there is an extensive wine list and a full bar. My Beet salad was garnished with Faro and was something special. We also had a roasted tomato with burata appetizer that was spectacular but very filling. The Black Cod was quite good but surprisingly spicy. My Orvieto Pasta dish was made special to accommodate my vegan diet. One of the best pasta dishes I have had outside of Italy. Price with three glasses of wine and a cocktail was about $200.00 with tip. Pretty much what I would expect for a meal of this quality. Worth a visit but maybe just try walking in on a weeknight.

We visited L'Artusi for a birthday. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was excellent but what struck me most was the service. It wasn't just one person waiting on us, it was an entire team. Everyone was extremely helpful, warm & friendly. The wine server and our dinner server took several minutes to help select the appropriate wine and explain the menu very carefully. To me service is very important. I will go back to any restaurant where the service is good and at L"artusi, you get the best of everything.

L'Artusi is a very chic Italian restaurant in charming West Village. The food here is delicious and service is outstanding. We had about four appetizers before ordering our entree, a bottle of wine, ended the evening with desserts, and still did not walk out feeling heavy, but full. Am satisfied.

There are so many excellent New York City restaurants, but this one definitely had a Premier atmosphere. We were seated Upstairs and it felt cozy but not too too crowded like so many of the New York restaurants. The food was excellent. There is plenty to choose from. They have gluten-free pasta as an option. They did not offer gluten-free bread, which would’ve made it Even better. However, I did hear later that they actually do have gluten-free bread. Great wine list. Excellent service.

L’Arrusi is my favorite restaurant in NYC! The food is absolutely incredible and never disappoints. The wine menu pairs beautifully with everything on the food menu. The atmosphere is small and dark, perfect for a special date night. I prefer sitting upstairs to avoid the hustle and bustle of the open kitchen.

Went for a special dinner with my family, we came from Ireland and Australia. We were originally seated upstairs but I asked could we move downstairs, which the were able to accommodate. Service was a bit slow to begin with, however our waitress looked after us well. We had the carpaccio, mushrooms and focaccia- all of which was ok but lacked something. The focaccia was very heavy and we all said we have had better. We ordered 4 different pastas, again we have all had better. We asked for some black pepper from a waiter passing by, who very rudely shrugged his shoulders as he was holding something and said what do you expect me to do in an angry tone. Not how I would expect to be treated in any restaurant. They were out of the olive cake which I had read so much about. Overall I was very disappointed and wouldn’t be returning or recommending. 4/10

My wife, Karen, our granddaughter Lily, who loves her grandparents beyond description (dotes lovingly on her grandfather) were treated like royalty at L’Artusi. First, we had no reservations, but they accommodated us with an expansive seating and then served us a spectacular brunch. The pasta dishes were phenomenal. The service we received from everyone, especially our waiter, Will, was simply outstanding. We cannot wait to visit our granddaughter again in Greenwich Village and feast at L’Artusi.

Sorry but it's fine but a little bit overrated. Good work for creative Italian food with a pricey but extensive wine list. Anyway better book in advance.

This has been our favorite for years and years and continues to be top notch. The food is exceptional, the service is top notch. The vibe is cool and sexy. If you're in NYC you have to make it to L'Artusi - you will not be disappointed. The mushroom appetizer is the best dish I've had in my entire life. ORDER THEM!

We enjoyed a lovely meal in this wonderful place in the West Village. There were 5 of us, girls weekend, reservations are a must! The variety is terrific, especially the small plates. Don’t miss the scallops and fluke appetizers. All pasta dishes were to die for....the pan seared Branzino on a bed of olives was fantastic. Great wine selection, and cocktails were also good. The olive oil cake may sound a bit different, but it’s delicious, give it a try. Love this quaint spot!

Book early to get a table in here as it is very popular with visitors and locals. Food is fantastic and good value. Wine list is extensive but pricey. It was our anniversary and they made a great effort for us, complimentary fizz and a special dessert. Would recommend the hanger steak with the amazing salsa blanco.

Better book (a month) in advance or risk a long wait at the door. Although if you do walk in they give you bar seating which has better lighting and personally more favorable. Can even watch the chefs at work if you are lucky. Of course the food here is excellent, however this is New York and I have had food this excellent in other spots which are not as difficult to get a reservation. Pasta at Lupa and Aurora; the trout at Dirty French etc

THis cosy restaurant lives up to its reputation, serving some of the best Italian dishes in New York. THe meal we enjoyed last night was complimented with fantastic service by our waiter Dennis. A good meal is always enhanced with good service, this started with the friendly host at the front desk. I would highly recommend starting with their delicious ricotta cheese and crackers, we had two orders for three people, they were so delicious. THe pastas are all outstanding and a great selection to choose from. I would recommend reserving in advance as it is not a big restaurant, IF you prefer a more intimate and quieter area, sit upstairs as there is a bar downstairs and it is a lot louder. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion, or date night. I might add my husband preferred this restaurant to Scarpetta, where we also dined this week. I would say it draws a sophisticated crowd and is for sure some of the best food in New York and I thought that their prices were very reasonable

The service and staff are wonderful. You will have multiple people serving you. They are very attentive. A great location in the West Village. The food is fresh and delicious.

I had just proposed to my fiancé and we went here to celebrate. We sat upstairs and thought the atmosphere was really cool. We let our waiter recommend wine and he hit it out the park! For food we got the cheddar cheese plate, the octopus, the rabbit gnocchi, and chicken of the woods. The gnocchi was the only thing I wouldn't get again...everything else was incredible! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

In this restaurant, you'll taste the best food you've ever tasted. The taste of spaghetti is deep and pleasant. I absolutely recommend it to everyone who comes here!

We arrived with very high expectations given the number of people who have highly recommended this restaurant. I booked the restaurant 30 days in advance for my wife's birthday. In short, we were underwhelmed. The entrance area where you have to stand to wait for your table is dark, hot and crowded. You can't order a cocktail while you wait because the bar is seated with diners in an attempt to squeeze in as many people as possible. At the hostess desk, one was reasonably personable, the other was totally indifferent, non-responsive and otherwise gave he impression that she couldn't wait until she could leave. As others have said, the tables are small and you sit shoulder to shoulder with the table next to you. it is LOUD! Attempting to carry on a conversation is an exercise in lip reading. Now to the food. As a table of 4 we shared 3 appetizers (mushrooms, tuna crudo, and heirloom tomatoes and burrata). The mushrooms and the burrata/tomatoes were quite good but nothing special. We had 3 pastas (orrecchiette, bavet pasta with manila clams, sausage ragu). The bavet clam pasta was very good and brightly spiced. The other two were just adequate. For entrees, the hanger steak was excellent! For dessert, the chocolate budin was excellent and they did recognize my wife's birday with a candle in a scoop of gelato. The olive cake was good. Our waitress was attentive, personable and very helpful. The rest of the staff were indifferent, rushed and not well trained. Not sure that we will return. There are MANY better Italian restaurants in Manhattan.

We had the scallops, grilled octopus and squid ink pasta. Everything was PERFECT. The atmosphere is romantic, the staff are friendly and super helpful. Overall, incredible meal! Will definitely be back!

Wandered around the West Village, hangry, with my picky sister, arguing until we found something with a menu we could both agree on. Note: we were looking for high end deliciousness brunch. She teeters back and forth with being gluten free, and not. I was super surprised at how large and nice the place was on the inside...from the outside it seemed like it was going to be tiny and cramped. But the scene inside was super upscale and trendy. We had such a hard time settling on what to eat. I ended up with the carbonara (pancetta, scallion, egg, Parmesan, black pepper), it was delicious if not SUPER heavy and creamy. So good. She got the Parmesan Biscuits with sausage gravy and poached egg. We also decided to split a side of bacon which was HUGE with HUGE pieces which were cooked to perfection, and the Crispy Potatoes which came with some sort of sour cream/cream cheese sauce on the side and they were divine. Other contenders included the Ricotta Crespelle with soft scrambled eggs), and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Tough Choices. We also ate about half of everything we ordered before we put ourselves into a food coma and had to leave immediately.

The food was great, the place really nice. We ate some amazing pasta and this was one of our favorite places from this visit to NYC. I’m just giving it 4 stars because even though we had a reservation they kept us waiting for more than 30 minutes but other than that the experience was really good and we had a great time.

I had dinner here with a friend. After trying to get a reservation for about a year we finally scored one. Given its popularity we were expecting "outstanding," Instead it was "very good." Without the hype we'd probably think about coming back, but in the end it didn't feel worth the extra effort. The decor is rustic with lots of wood, attractive but not memorable. The noise levels are pretty high, but manageable for conversation. The food ranged from superb to very good. The bread is excellent, with peppery olive oil reminiscent of the best of Tuscany. The shishito peppers were wonderful, and the standout was the special burrata and stoned fruits and tomato appetizer. The burrata was the creamiest I've ever had. We then split their signature pasta dish, spaghetti with garlic scapes and parmesan. It was simple but delicious. We had the swordfish and branzino entrees. Both were very good. Not ethereal, but well prepared and tasty. We did not have dessert. Service was generally good but uneven. One server told us the specials and then our main server came to do the same. At times we waited longer than optimally to flag someone to our table. When our server helped with us the wine list (apparently there is no sommelier) I asked for a red that would go well with seafood at a particular price limit. He pointed me to one that was a dollar below my limit, then one that was $9.00 above it. I dislike that way of dealing with customers, as it gives an impression of pushing more expensive wines rather than satisfying the customer's desires. It also puts the customer in the awkward position of having to say "that's over the limit I asked for." We also ordered the peppers after seeing them on other tables because we'd missed them on the menu. When they didn't come out with the other appetizer we asked about it and our server told us he arranged for them to come with the pasta. But he had not asked us when we wanted them. Overall, very good, but I don't understand the hype.

We both enjoyed the most fantastic pasta. For desert we had the cheesecake which comes with blackcurrant ice cream. The latter was the best ice cream I think I have tasted. Also, the service was impeccable. Will definitely come back next time we visit NYC, but we will reserve a table then. Even on a late Tuesday evening it was difficult to get seating for two.

We were a group of 18 celebrating our nephew’s big day. We had the private room and he had preordered a variety of food to be served in courses family style to his guests. Service was excellent. Food was excellent! Will return again as the quality of the food is sooo good. Delicious. Highly recommend.

This was our second visit to L'artusi. We were here last year for my 40th birthday dinner and took the necessary steps to ensure a normal dinner time reservation. We had a 5:30PM reservation and on arrival there was already a line forming at the door. Once again, we had Jeb take care of us. It says something when the staff are still there from a year ago!! We had their ricotta cheese and jam special then moved on to the butter salad with hazelnuts. For our main course, I ordered their simple, but truly unique spaghetti - a light, but perfectly balanced pasta vibrant with flavor; my wife had the tagliatelle - the bolognese sauce was perfect...not too heavy. Also, they were very accommodating to my 11 year-old son who just wanted a plate of pasta with butter - thank you! We ended with gelato and of course, the olive oil cake...TRY IT!! The value for the food was great. We had a bottle of both still and sparkling water, a bottle of wine, the cheese plate, three pasta entrees and two deserts for under $200. Will be back next year...

We visited this restaurant for dinner as it was highly recommended by a friend. He said it was the best italian restaurant in NY. We travel frequently to Italy so we always value good authentic Italian food. Little did we imagine that we were in for a big let down. We arrived 10 minutes early for our 7:30pm reservation on a Tuesday. The dark entrance was full of people standing, apparently waiting to be seated. I checked in with the hostess, I did not even get a smile from her. She said our table was not ready. We waited standing up near the entrance as the place is very cramped with really no space to wait. I then noticed that the doors next to us were the bathrooms so it was even more uncomfortable as people were going in and out of the bathrooms and you had to move out of the way. We should have definitely taken that as a sign to leave but unfortunately, we did not. We were finally seated at 7:45pm in a table close to the kitchen. The place was packed and tables are so close to each other that you can almost taste what the table next to you is eating. The place is extremely loud and filled with a millennial crowd that apparently has plenty of money to splurge but zero idea of what is authentic Italian food. It is impossible to have a conversation here or even speak to the waiter. The noise level resembles a night club. Our waiter brought us the menus and wine list. The wine list looks like a thick history book and all the bottles are ridiculously overpriced! I picked a bottle of wine and struggled to catch my waiter’s attention to answer questions about the menu. The waiter seem extremely anxious to take our order and move on. The service here is terrible and very impersonal. It is more like a fast food where you order, eat and leave rather than a fine dining experience. The majority of the plates on the menu are spicy so we were very limited as to what we could order. We had the bolognese pasta which the menu said was spicy but we decided to order anyway, and the pasta with sausage. Our pastas were overcooked which is a major no no. The bolognese was okay, not spicy and nothing outstanding. The pasta with sausage tasted like a meat lovers pizza from Pizza Hut - TERRIBLE!! We had the branzino as main dish. It was very good but very small portions for the price. For dessert, we had the olive oil cake that everyone was raving about. It was just okay and again NOT outstanding!! I have had a lot better in an authentic italian restaurant. In a nut shell, this place is highly over rated and very expensive for not authentic italian food, lousy service and loud ambiance. I definitely do not recommend nor will I ever return.

I recently ate here in Nov. & Dec.I went at 5:30 & joined the early waiting line for the bar area.We got seated at a table in the bar area in Nov. & seated at the bar in Dec.Both areas were fabulous to dine in. The food is fabulous no matter what you get.The specials are also not to be missed.Best venison chop I have ever had.The staff are pros.We were lucky enough to get the same charming, knowledgeable waitress both meals. She even remembered the wine we loved, she selected the month before.Fingers crossed I can get in again late Jan.

Consistently outstanding The presentation is beautiful It is truly a New York City event- watching chicly dressed diners and eating amazing food

Their home made spaghetti dish is among the best I've ever had. It's simple, and flavorful. The portions were appropriate, not overbearingly large. Only thing worth noting is that the restaurant does not let you pace your own order, they push you to order all apps and entrees at once. The food didn't come out too fast, but did come out faster than we would have liked on this particular night where we wanted a long drawn out dinner. Understand that they had other constraints so needed to do it this way, but it is very timed.

Great Food, Wine, cheese plates, salads and all pasta dishes, chicken and pork chop all delicious, great service and atmosphere. Very Good Restaurant........

Wow! L'Artusi probably offers the best pasta options in all of NYC. The orecchiette is the best of the best.

Another overhyped restaurant in NYC. Don't get me wrong, L'Artusi has good food and a trendy ambience, however, I've had much better pasta elsewhere. Unfortunately, all the reviews of L'Artusi state that the pastas are the standout, so we had very high expectations. The pastas are definitely homemade, however, we found them to be overcooked but flavorful. We ordered the Day Boat Scallop Crudo, Chicories, Roasted Mushrooms, Orecchiette, Pici and Salted Chocolate Caramel Cake for dessert. Also, ordered cocktails; L'Artusi Gimlet and Ring My Bell plus a bottle of red wine. The most outstanding dishes were the Roasted Mushrooms with Pancetta, Fried Egg, Chilies and Ricotta Salata. This dish was amazing. We wanted to order a 2nd! Also, the Salted Chocolate Caramel Cake with Caramel Popcorn and Bourbon Gelato was outstanding! The major problem with L'Artusi is the rushed service. It gave us the impression that they were overbooked and trying to turn over tables quickly. We ordered our cocktails and wanted to enjoy them before ordering our food and wine, but the waiter came over 3 times asking us to order. We felt pressured to put in our food order. The appetizers and salad came out 5 minutes after placing our order. We still hadn't ordered our wine, which we wanted to enjoy with our food. We couldn't find our waiter for a good 15 minutes. Finally when we did get our wine our food was cold. Very poor timing! This may seem like no big deal, but when you're dropping $250+ on a dinner for 2, it definitely matters! Bottom Line - Not worthy of the hassle of having to make a reservation 30 days in advance.

We tried several dishes between us and everyone was fantastic. The service was also good, it’s impossible to have an empty glass of water. A good atmosphere too.

love to go to highly rated restaurants; l'artusi nicely decorated..chic in a way with a busy open kitchen; service was good but when one of the highlights of the meal is the dipping olive oil for the bread one cannot get too excited about coming here...my friend had beet salad which she enjoyed i had charred octopus and a side carrot/yogurt dish ...seems they know how to cook vegetables since the carrots were done correctly and were flavorful but i certainly do not expect a restaurant of this caliber to have chewy octopus.... definitely not enjoyable....i ve had better on arthur avenue in the bronx;...their 3 star rating may have been a 4 but they lost a star for it being overrated. originally was going to take a family member here for her birthday but back to via carota on grove street where the meals were much better.

Great place for a nice date night or for a more high end Italian dinner. We did the ricotta, a crudo plate, pasta and two sides for 2 people and could have easily fed another 1-2 people. Everything we had was delicious.

Another hyped restaurant which was very good but don’t hold in unreasonable esteem.. We started with the Beef Carpaccio which was a home run - the meat was just so fresh adding a layer of flavor no seasoning could. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was OK. The gnocchi though fascinating in texture (very soft) lost its allure after bite 5 or 6 when you start to crave standard gnocchi. Perhaps the way it was prepared, the rabbit tasted just like ground beef. The oriechiette was delicious and well done. The Branzino didn’t show up until an hour into the meal so we sent it back. All in all I wouldn’t mind coming back. The above dinner with 4 drinks came to a total of $200 which was not far from reasonable for a restaurant of this reputation. Would recommend for any date or occasion, planning to try the Spaghetti on my next visit

The food was good but $40 for a pasta dish that was just six small pieces of Ravioli was outrageous. When I mentioned to the staff they called the manager, who asked me what else would I like to eat and I mentioned that some more ravioli would be good. I was informed that would not be possible! I suggested that I was the customer and I was dissatisfied to which she replied anything else but ravioli. Later she sent over some olive oil cake to lighten our mood. I don’t eat cake but my dining partner had some. The experience left a sour taste in my mouth.

You walk into this quaint little restaurant and see, feel, smell and taste happiness! Genuine and incredibly talented people prepare and serve very simple yet powerful dishes that make you want to just sit back, share and savor your opportunity. Knowing full well how fortunate you are to be able to find such a wonderful place to dine. That's L'Artusi to me! Our meal 2 Basil Hayden Old Fashions Glass of Red, White the Mushroom app crispy potatoes Cacio e pepe Tagliatelle bolognese Olive Oil Cake Quince & Pear Sorbetti If I lived in NYC I would be looking at places close by so that I would not have to go far to enjoy another meal. Instead I will just have to wait until time allows me to return. Thank you L'Artusi

For the evening we caught an Uber direct to dinner at L’artusi which was a recommendation from a honeymooning couple we met in Montauk at the B&B. This classy Italian restaurant in West Village took us on the bar after a 25 minute wait. We ordered sparsely with a pasta each (mine a bucatini pasta with pancetta, tomato, chilli and pecorino) and Catherine’s a form of ravioli with her love for classic freshness exhibited with peas and other vibrant ingredients. Finishing with the olive oil cake we felt very satisfied.

I had a reservation at 8.45pm, my reservation was for two, but my daughter came into town so we showed up as 3 and they couldn’t accommodate us only at the bar. They could have added another chair instead that girl at the door was so rude and ridiculous, so we left and went to a better restaurant.Won’t be back here ever.

I loved everything about this restaurant--the food, the service, the ambiance. It was if a restaurant was created featuring my own favorite flavors and ingredients. Think rustic Italian that's been made even more delicious with more herbs and spice. The pasta with clams, breadcrumbs, herbs, and jalapeno blew my mind, as did the simple side of seasonal fresh peas and fava beans, pancetta, chilis, and pecorino romano. Desserts of banana sunday and a warm strawberry crostata were also exceptional. I will definitely return next time in NYC!

Food was outstanding - the burrata tomato appetizer was amazing and the pastas were also perfect. For my main dish I had the steak and potato dish which was also really really good. I enjoyed everything about my experience.

everything on the menu is wonderful. The staff is warm and welcoming to all guests. We have spent long evenings at L'Artusi ordering many dishes and other evenings drinking a little wine and ordering light plates. Regardless of the size of out bill, the staff is always top notch. If you cn get a rest, go to l'Artusi!

Loved the food and the vibe. Small plates. All were delicious. We ate downstairs and had a good corner table. Highly recommend that spot.

Had a very good dinner here recently. The pasta dishes we had were excellent, and our waiter was attentive and friendly. For me, the only slightly negative things are that it is quite loud (and lively) in the restaurant, and the tables are rather close together. Would definitely return, though, to try more items on the menu.

L’Artusi never disappoints!! Everything is Awesome and Flavorful! The Bar is always happening and fun whether solo Or a couple! Must haves - Wild Mushrooms w the egg and shaved cheese, Any Pasta,Hamachi Crudo, Whatever your craving is here you can’t go wrong period! I will return and return!

We were here for lunch and decided to just get a pasta with no starter. Both pastas were excellent. I got the tagliatelle bolognese bianco which was extremely flavorful. The pasta width was more like pappardelle which was no big deal. The meat was a combo of pork and veal I suspect. My wife ordered the tajarin carbonara with speck which also was excellent. We shared and they were both so good. Hard to recommend one over the other. Atmosphere is more trattoria in style. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed it! Service was friendly and attentive. Good value for the quality of the cooking.

Very difficult to get a reservation so expectations are high. Great pasta and appetizers. Loud room. Was expecting a nicer room. Restaurant needs a refresh and looks dated and worn.

Our meal was across the board excellent. The food offerings are diverse, but mostly Italian. The wine list is strong, but entirely Italian. The setting is good, but the acoustics are very challenging. Toward the back of the restaurant was a distinct smell of mold. The service was friendly and professional.

This was not an easy place to get into, but when I did it became clear it was worth the effort. There is an open kitchen, with a lively, diverse menu. Beef carpaccio had excellent flavor with small croutons for texture, the octopus was nicely cooked with warm green olives and diced potatoes, the ravioli with pecorino cheese was outstanding, the bucatini was great, and the olive oil cake lived up to the hype. Top to bottom it was a great experience.

The staff was argumentative and arrogant. They continuously forgot our order and even claimed we never ordered food that we had ordered twice. The manager was Belligerent and we walked out after our salads after waiting over an hour without service. The food may be great.(we never had any) but STAY away from this restaurants over rated and hostile staff

Our waiter was a perfect balance of friendly, engaging without overstaying and definitely knowledgeable about the food! The meals we tasty and really enjoyed our meal there. Would definitely go back!

It's not an Italian restaurant. It's good quality American cuisine, but it's certainly not an Italian restaurant. Fresh ingredients, but both for the use of creams and recipes can not be defined Italian restaurant

Our friend managed to get a 9:15pm reservation on a Saturday night. We absolutely loved the food there and the service was great. Will definitely be back when we are in town!

My 21 year old daughter and I had dinner here on a recent trip to NYC. It was just what we imagined when we were lucky enough to get a reservation. It is a cozy west village gem. The food and service were impeccable and the ambiance and location are spot on! Cannot recommend L'Artusi enough and look forward to eating there again!

Can’t specify the best occasion for L’Artusi! Just seems perfect for everything. Staff was simply amaaazingly kind with me the whole time. And the food.. :) Try reserving no doubt, lines are common in this place

The restaurant was super busy, so make sure you get reservations in advance. We sat at the bar and had great service. The Purple Haze mocktail was very good. My niece had the hangar steak and I had the cacio e pepe pasta, both were delicious. And save room for dessert. Highly recommend the olive oil cake!

The wine list is nice and the pastas and all the plates are delicious BUT the staff is what puts L;Artusi over the top. Always nice, warm and welcoming.

Our family of 4 came for dinner. The food, vibe (energy) and service was excellent. We have some food allergies that resulted in a bit of confusion/delay serving the plates. The manager proactively came to us, apologized and comped the delayed dishes and our drinks without us even asking. Just amazing - a real sign that they care about their patrons.

This is one of those places that should be past its prime but just isn’t. At all! Was especially surprised that everything was so wonderful at brunch! Which is a meal I feel like so many great restaurants just phone in. Service was so attentive and wonderful, food was insanely good. Drinks were creative and unique (can’t stop thinking about the one called ‘swimsuit season’ which is a magical combo of gin and grapefruit and celery…wowwww). A great meal!

L'Artusi is a special restaurant. The wine list is very nice, the pastas and side dishes are wonderful and the wait staff is always warm and welcoming. L'Artusi is perfect for a very special and impressive dinner out, or a casual night with friends.

We visited this location as part of a bachelor party and had a fantastic dinner. They gave us a private area that had a fantastic ambiance. Everything from the service, the drinks, and the food were fantastic. We ended up arriving late due to the amount of traffic and came in waves, but had no issues for them holding our table or sitting us.

We hosted an engagement dinner in the private wine room. The room is perfect for small parties and the food was very enjoyable. Pricing and minimums were reasonable for NYC. The major negative of the evening was that we had reserved the second seating for the room at 9:30pm and when our entire part arrived at 9:35 the previous party was still in the room. By the time they left and the room was cleaned we were not seated until about 10:00pm. Prior to booking I had been assured that the start time was FIRM which it was not. When I followed up the next day my concerns were not addressed properly in my opinion. My recommendation would be take the first seating at 6:30pm and avoid any potential issues.

Abdul our waiter was just amazing. Iceberg lettuce salad, 3 types of cheeses, beet salad to start. fish with olives and honey and pasta with salumi great desert and wine

WOW, Best meal I have had in a while. Got lunch reservations since dinner is so hard to get. We shared the wagyu beef tartare, Bucatini Nero and Branzino. Not a crazy unique menu but everything was just so good! The toast the beef tartare came on was soft and crispy at the same time. And the olive oil cake for desert was amazing, not too sweet but flavorful. Can recommend it without reservations and would definitely go back.

A friend of ours raved about this restaurant, and we had to try it. It was absolutely amazing! But I have a tip - make reservations or go early to get on the list. The service was incredible, and the food transported us straight to Italy! They have a fantastic variety of menu options and drinks. We’re definitely going to check out their other restaurants in the city too!

My first visit to L’Artusi. We went for brunch and I opted for the L’Artusi breakfast. The service was excellent, our waiter, Anthony, was first class. A great menu, lots of choices. The food arrived quickly and cooked perfectly. There was so much that I did not need to eat until the next morning. Great food, great service, great value. What more do I need to say?

A smaller place with lots of activity but not so loud it’s annoying. Tables are close together and it is crowded. Staff was great, we made the reservation online for the wrong day but they were able to clear a place at the bar for us, very nice of them. More of a small plates meal and we order 4 between the two of us and it was perfect. Definitely a place to return to but make a reservations. Cost with tip and drinks about $175 for 2.

Walking through Greenwich Village looking for an Italian restaurant my husband and I stumbled upon this treasure - lucky us!!! We were warmly greeted and seated almost immediately at the bar. The place was busy and had a festive atmosphere. The main bartender took excellent care of us and was a delight to talk with. I ordered the pork chop (best in NYC) and my husband ordered the risotto. Both dishes were beyond delicious!! We live in Seattle and will definitely return next time we're in NYC!!

A casual, noisy Italian restaurant with really good food and reasonable prices. Over all we went family style and ordered plenty of appetizers to share and each of us had a main entree. I personally was disappointed that their gluten free pasta was not from scratch. I hold Italian restaurants to a higher standards and expect them to have some pastas from scratch. That said, their spaghetti was excellent according to everybody who had it. Another hit was the mushroom appetizer and the side of potatoes. The service was warm and friendly. Overall we enjoyed the food and the service. Definitely will go again.

We do not live in NYC but we make it a mission to go to L’Artusi every time we visit. We have dined there for brunch and dinners. Everything on the menu is delicious! The pastas are as good as anything you can get in Italy. The wine list is extensive and well thought out. Save room for dessert! All house-made and excellent. Make your reservation a month ahead or you will not get a table.

Great food and a nice ambiance! Interesting choices on the menu. The waiter service was perfect! A little noisy, though.

Have been at least 5 times to Lartusi and the food is very well executed , wine list seems to be priced very expensive but it is well chosen , prob top 10 Italian place in city

My daughter + I were there for lunch on 26-Dec-2023. I ordered the tagliatelle Bolognese + my daughter ordered the mushroom ragu. My tagliatelle was delicious, unfortunately it was a total of 3 forkfuls. When I mentioned it to the waiter, he said I wasn't the only one who has brought this to his attention, but only 3 ounces is served for lunch. I 'm positive my dish was NOT 3 ounces. My daughter thought her mushroom ragu was ok. This place is OVERRATED. Definitely not worth the $$$.

Or server was amazing with great recommendations. Food was unbelievable! We will definitely be back if we can get a reservation ;)

Food was excellent, service was spot on, wine list extensive. It is fairly tight and I think a romantic atmosphere. It was worth the money for the experience. The mushroom special was amazing and I could have stayed with cheese for my entire meal

Winch here was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and the rest of the seevice crew were attentive. The food was all excellent. We started with the pancakes. The table had the mushrooms entree, frittata and pasta. Everything was done well. The olive oil cake to end was amazing.

Italian foods smaller portions but very delicious and perfectly cooked. Menu variety want much. Restaurant was full with reservations. Service was excellent throughout.

This one's tough to land a table at but land one we did - very nice booth in what turned out to be a very crowded, bustling eatery in the West Village. Service was very good, wine selection was wide but all-Italian. Interesting that if you get a table in the rear of the restaurant one is very much in full view of the kitchen, which is interesting. Made for a great family dinner. They unfortunately forgot my fish main-course but, once we pointed this out to them, they delivered and nicely comped the meal.

My husband and I sat at the bar and enjoyed a most delicious meal. We tried a few appetizers and shared a pasta. The wine choice was excellent, service impeccable. Our new favorite spot to go!

Spaghetti - glorious (we asked for extra chilies) Branzino - glorious. Love the olives hanging around town Artic char- if you like fish a little rare in middle, it’s good quality Overall nice place. Service was good. My wife thought the waiter was hot. Love The horse of glory

Like all of New York, a little pricey, but really good. The pizza is fantastic. All ingredients are fresh and tasty. Great service.

A nice, modern Italian. The food was delicious - everything we ordered. An impressive wine list, somewhat overpriced (typical for the NYC I guess), and all Italian. An excellent, friendly service. Highly recommended!

We visited this restaurant after watching Hamilton! Perfect end to a fantastic night at the theatre. It was 6 of us and we ordered a few things from the menu to share. I had the sausage dish as my main which was very tasty and not to heavy. Decent prices and lovely ambience. Our waiter knew the menu in detail and helped us decide what we wanted. Lovely dinner experience.

Food, service and ambiance excellent! Almost impossible to get reservations! We went for a birthday celebration.

My brother was able to get a reservation to L'Artusi after logging on at exactly the time the reservations open! Within minutes all of the reservations sell out, so we were very excited to be trying this restaurant and we had high expectations! We arrived a little early and we were greeted by a friendly host who had us seated within a few minutes! Our waiter greeted us right away and got our drink orders in. We ordered the Dayboat Scallops, Beef Carpaccio, the roasted beets and the roasted mushrooms. All of us unanimously agreed that the roasted mushrooms were incredible. If I could have eaten them as an entire meal I would have. The other appetizers were also delicious, the mushrooms just really were that good. For main courses, three people in our party ordered the orecchiette and I ordered the tagliatelle. The portions initially look small but when you start eating you realize how rich and delicious the hand-made pasta and how filling it is! Only my brother, who has the largest appetite, was able to finish his main course! We ordered the Olive Oil cake which we were told was their signature dessert. It was definitely tasty, but not as good as some of the other courses we had during the night. My brother is gluten free and my husband has a seafood allergy and the restaurant was able to work with both of them. Overall, the food was incredible and we had an amazing evening spending time with family in such a great restaurant. I would highly recommend!

My daughter and her boyfriend who live in the West Village took us to this place during our recent visit. It was very crowded and a bit too noisy for me. Nonetheless our server, Anthony, was excellent and made the dining experience a pleasant one. It's not traditional Italian, but rather an interesting variation. We started with a sampling of cheeses, a great wine, and then unique pasta dishes and dessert. Glad we went, but with all the choices in NYC, will probably select a different, less hectic location the next time we are in town.

Food was scrumptious! Staff was friendly, welcoming and professional. Nice clean location. It’s nice to see the staff not only took pride in their jobs, but they went above and beyond to ensure the customers needs were met. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful dinner here a few weeks ago. Our reservation was for 8:30 but we didn't get seated until 9. The maitre d was so accommodating and apologetic and we got an appetizer on the house. The food is truly amazing. Perfectly sized and so flavorful. I can't wait to go back. Perfect New York experience!

I am quite a foodie. The al dente pasta were delicious. As excellent quality and taste as you can find in top restaurant in Italy. The dessert, olive oild cake, was delicious too. I tend to love chocolate desserts but this one showed me that some desserts without any chocalate can be as good. I would say L'Artusi is one of my top 10 favourite restautant in the world. So good that I am going back this week before to travel back to London

Beautiful, rustic setting with amazing food! The service is great, the ambience is romantic with a buzz in the air. I called a week in advance and was able to get a reservation (which I hear is impossible), but they accept walk in's for their bar seating as well (its a large area and has more then 16 seats so you have a good shot). The food was excellent! Everything tastes homemade and healthy. We ordered a lot of dishes and everything was delicious. Its so good, I'm going back again this week and getting a seat at the bar! =) @traveleen_gurl

L’artusi is New York’s best Italian restaurant. Note that the reviewers complaining about close-together tables aren’t from New York. Of course the tables are close together - this is the densely populated island in the world..! And expensive? Again, sorry / not sorry - welcome to NYC. Pretentious? Ditto. But also - where do they not ask how you want your fish cooked?! Prey i never land there... Service is informed, warm, and delightful. Food is out of this world, creative and insanely high quality. My ramps, Chiles, Parm spaghetti was truly memorable and eliminated any need for dessert.

We really loved L'Artusi. It had a young, modern feel and more updated, contemporary menu. Our plan is to always do classic, old world Italian along with a newer, more updated, contemporary Italian while in New York. L'Artusi fit perfectly and we will definitely go back. Pricing was good for the quality and ambiance of the restaurant.

I decided to come here for my birthday dinner on other recommendations. Reservations could only be made 30 days in advance and when I called exactly 30 days earlier, they said they were almost completely booked and could squeeze us in for an early dinner slot. I did find this really weird though pretty common place at most NYC establishments to mysteriously book up even before the reservations are "technically" open to the public. Staff graciously welcomed us when we arrived and immediately sat us in the upstairs area. The space did not feel cramped which I really appreciated. We started off with a bottle of Sicilian Rose that was absolutely wonderful. I was impressed by their wine selection and would recommend to take a close look at the option if that interests you. We ordered two ricotta starters to share; the ricotta was super creamy and paired well with the buttery crisps that came along with it. I ordered the orecchiette with sausage. I enjoyed my dish but did not love it due to the bitterness of the fennel paired with the sausage. My bf ordered the bucatini which was slightly salty with not much flavor. While I will note all the pastas were cooked to perfection they all missed their marks due mostly to the topping pairings. We ordered the olive oil cake and mascapone cheesecake. I found the cake dry. Overall, we enjoyed our experience there and staff made us feel very welcomed but I guess I felt a bit underwhelmed by it all given all the hype from other reviewers.

I ordered the tagliatelle with bolognese bianco and it did not disappoint! It has a bit of a kick (heat) to it but by no means overdone. I would definitely order this again. It was the perfect size for a moderately hungry woman. I also got the chocolate chip cookies. Honestly the cookies were nothing special.

L’Artusi is always crowded for a simple reason -the food is great and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. I love the way the menu is set up, presenting choices of raw appetizers, salads, pastas and mains in neat columns across a page with all the key ingredients listed so you can easily visualize how you are putting your tastes together. We had the roasted mushrooms, the gnocchi , the chicken and the branzino and everything was terrific. We went for chocolate desserts from the separate dessert menu -the budino and torte were both scrumptious. There’s a very good wine list but the only blemish on our evening was the rudest sommelier I’ve ever experienced. If the food wasn’t so good she would have put us off the restaurant but with food this good all is forgiven. Very crowded, very noisy. We like the quieter tables upstairs. Reservations essential-book 30 days in advance.

Service kind of rude, no Memorable dishes, none of the people in our party loved their food. Overall, below average experience.

We had fantastic lunch at this vibrant restaurant. The service was outstanding, both really quick and friendly. The quality of the food, both mains and dessert was absolutely delicious

This restaurant was my husband's favorite and he can be fussy! We ordered 4 pasta dishes to share (there were 4 of us) and we loved them all! Our waitress also recommended a reasonably priced bottle of wine. It took us forever to get this reservation and our dinner was at 9:00 pm. My only wish is the restaurant not to be so popular so you could get an earlier reservation! LOL!

L’Artusi is probably our favorite all-around restaurant in NYC. Every dish is thoughtfully curated and delicious, the service is impeccable yet unpretentious and the ambiance is trendy and romantic at the same time. We’re not sure how one restaurant can accomplish all of these things, but L’Artusi does just that. Start your meal here with the housemade Ricotta and the Roasted Mushrooms and be sure to have at least one pasta on your table. Our favorite is the Bucatini.

My wife and I went to dinner here. On the plus side, the food was outstanding. We shared the mushroom appetizer which was great. We each got a pasta, me the orichette and my wife the spaghetti they were good sized servings. We then shared the cod. On the other hand, despite an awesome waiter who was very responsive, the kitchen was overwhelmed. We waited twenty minutes after our appetizer was removed for our pasta dishes and then another fifteen minutes for our entree. The place was packed and the tables are literally less than a foot apart. So 5 for the food and waiter; one for the kitchen and noise. Levels.

We didn’t make a reservation and this place is clearly popular so we waited about an hour to sit. Besides that the service and food was amazing! We sat at the bar and The bar tender was able to recite everything on the menu including specials etc. very impressive! Will be back for sure! Ps the olive oil cake was fabulous!

One of the best meals I have ever had in NYC! My son took me here for my birthday last year. Difficult to get a reservation, but worth the effort.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend but we couldn’t get a last minute reservation. We showed up at 5:15, waited in a small line outside, and promptly got seats at the “counter” when they opened at 5:30. Given how amazing the food, wine, and service were, I would have waited 24 hours if I had to. Even the house made gluten free pasta (for my wife’s sensitivity) was excellent. We will be back again and again on future trips to the city.

Went for dinner with a friend and enjoyed the food immensely. Small menu but perfectly executed dishes. Crudos are a standout as are the pastas. We had the Peas tortellini and the escolar crudo, both top notch. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the food and wine. Open kitchen, relaxed vibe, moderate prices. Would love to go back!

Always a favourite when visiting family in New York Stunning Italian Does not disappoint! Food excellent Service and ambiance the same No wonder this local is so difficult to book But book early and enjoy a NY treat Highly recommend Susan Sims

Wonderful experience, friendly staff, very accommodating in finding a good table. The menu had sufficient choices for different palates. We started with the outstanding Roasted Mushrooms, served with an sunny side up egg. Then we shared the fabulous Roasted Chicken with hen of the woods mushrooms and the divine sauce (very buttery!) that went with it and the excellent Orrecchiete with sausage and pecorino. We ended with the Olive Oil cake with mascarpone and raisins macerated in vin santo. A wonderful meal. We plan to go there again.

Very difficult to get a reservation here, but managed eventually. Ambience is decent, along with very good wait staff - perhaps the tables are crammed in together but you get over that. The food was a real mixed bag - pastas shone brightly, while looking distinctly under-whelming! But they worked well and the elements combined well. Main courses were much less successful - a fish dish was dull, tasteless and overcooked while a chicken dish was remarkably average - there's been better in countless restaurants all across the city. I was convinced Dessert would be the saving grace. Wrong. A ganache should be almost mousse-like, soft and pillowy and moreish, but alas appeared to have been removed too late from a freezer and was hard and ordinary. Such a pity! I really did have high expecations - alas, nothing much drawing me back here for another go.
Culinary perfection!
This restaurant sets such a high bar of excellence I’m not sure we will ever eat pasta this good again! We had seen L’Artusi’s talented chef Joe Vigorito on the Food Channel among others. His star is definitely on the rise! One of L’Artusi’s “signature” dishes is the spaghetti with breadcrumbs. Sounds simple but it’s a sublime dish that combines butter, fresh garlic, green chilies and the aforementioned toasted breadcrumbs and it is delicious behind imagining! The butter lettuce salad was also incredible as was the beef carpaccio! To top off this incredible culinary experience was the amazing olive oil cake! One caveat is too make sure you have reservations well in advance as this restaurant is one of the most popular in NYC! If you eat at L’Artusi it just might be the highlight of your visit to the city! We can say it was ours! Incredible food, impeccable service, an extensive wine list and great ambiance! Yes “culinary perfection”!
