We walk past this place often and can't believe it took us this long to finally visit. The restaurant has always looked inviting, but their additional outdoor seating on the side street rather than on Amsterdam is set up very nicely. Food is a 10/10 on presentation. Wonderful salads, and hearty main courses. The desserts are works of art. Service was great, although I felt more like I was in Europe and the table was ours for as long as we wanted (they did not rush us).

Cozy French bistro with great food. French chef. Classical French food: Kassulet, Duck, mussels, etc. A menu where it is hard to decide because I liked so many of the choices. The beet salad was special. Amsterdam and 80th. Clever design, the entrance is on 80th closer to the kitchen, avoiding cold winter drafts on diners. Also leaves more table space on Amsterdam for people watching.

We were so fortunate to get a table at the last minute at La Sirene on the UWS. The food was amazing and the staff simply lovely! We shared the pate de compagne, which was delicious. I had the roasted beet salad as an entree and husband had the braised rabbit saddle. The staff also provided a quartet of vegetables. All of the food was expertly prepared and flavorful. The roasted beet salad was a revelation of how great beets can be. Presentations were beautiful and enhanced the taste of each dish. Highly recommend!

This was very overpriced with mediocre food and service. So many good places to go for brunch on the Upper West Side, but this is definitely not one of them

We showed up 30 minutes before they closed after lunch. Rather than throwing us out they kept apologizing when they didn’t have certain items available. The food was wonderful and they still kept apologizing and gave us compensated wine! Simple food done very well!!

Nice surprise walking around and popping in for dinner. Superb halibut with some veggies and a negroni to start with. Glass of chardonnay was too warm. Drinks only were 36$ (!!!)that’s the only downside. Rest was good.

Fantastic find on the Upper West Side - modern French bistro featuring signature dishes from the south of France. Their delicious home made gnocchi smothered in rich cheesy sauce was very tasty. Their signature baked goat cheese tart with shallot & truffle was exquisite! And their signature profiteroles were to die for - puff pastry filled with vanilla bean ice cream & topped with bitter sweet chocolate sauce & loads of whipped cream. Yum! Don’t miss this great find on the UWS. They also have a SOHO location.

Really good food and wine, love to eat outdoors. One of the many good restaurants near our hotel Riverside Tower Hotel.

Entertained friends who are well-traveled.Were greeted by personnel as family even though this was our first visit. friendly warm attitude continued for the entire evening. food is typical French bistro, traditional and not innovative. Very satisfying from appetizers to deserts.

I came here for dinner. Atmosphere is decidedly French, with windows that open in Amsterdam ave. A decidedly Parisian feel. Service is very friendly, personal and efficient. The food is outstanding, classic French with a touch of creativity. I had the beet salad, unique with a side of Brie, and the salmon. Salmon is outstanding, and the side dish of selected vegetables that comes with each main course is to die for (if you like vegetables). Very reasonably priced, I highly recommend La Sirène!

The food and the service are outstanding. The only downside may be that the room is small, the tables very close together and it can be very loud inside when it is full. Everything else is wonderful. Had the pate and the hanger steak. Both were perfect. I look forward to eating there again.

Excellent, wonderful little surprise. I read somenof the reviews and found it convenient to a show at the Beacon Theatre. From the minute we walked in the service and warmth was apparent. We were seated at a window table, great music in the background and an intimate setting made for a wonderful evening. Yes, but then theres the food. From the signature creole mussels to the signature flank steak to my wife's escargot anf picturesque french onion soup, ALL AMAZING!! Then we had dessert. I would suggest they rename their Banana Creme Brulee to Crack Creme. First it has the torched top but is made with bananas and nilla wafers(yep, the ones your grandparents had) that are pureed and served cold. WOW. I said the term crack because if you wake up the next morning thinking about it, that sounds pretty severe. Thank you to the host and servers and not least the chefs---5Stars, look forward to seeing you again...

Wanted to get away from the tourist trap by Time Square for a birthday family dinner and was not disappointed. Escargot was great- even the kids loved them. Not sure I like the cold foie gras. French Mac and Cheese was a hit. Also had the duck, rack of lamb - both cooked perfectly.

Delightful French restaurant with ample outdoor seating. A wide assortment of excellent classic French dishes from pates to French onion soup and escargot. Both the salmon and Cornish hen main courses on the price fixed dinner were excellent accompanied by a selection of seasonal vegetables. Service was excellent

By chance stopped in for dinner and what a delicious and enjoyable time. You might not think it was special to look at the place, but we found it terrific. There is talent in the kitchen. Delicious food on every count - foie gras, baked pear, filet Mignon with foie on top, baked gnocchi gratin with truffle on top, artful vegetables on the side. It was wonderful to enjoy the classic French dishes cooked perfectly - the regulars seemed to know. Attentive waiter was friendly and there when you need him and not when you don’t. The menu is unusually chatty with messages from the chef - we found this endearing and informative. It is not inexpensive and yes - there is a credit card up charge - but it’s not terrible to pay for what’s worth it. We thought today this was!

Great new restaurant for the UWS - French and excellent - mostly mussels prepared multiple ways but their small plates and other options were outstanding and big enough to share

Who pays cash on a $500 meal? It's a good, not great, Upper West Side dining spot. No, thank you. There are too many other neighborhood choices.

If you didn't see the Nos. 7 and 11 buses go by, you'd think you were in one of those really great Parisian finds that populate so many side streets in Paris. This uptown version of the downtown restaurant has a wonderful young and handsome Parisian trained chef. You can tell that the clientele are knowledgeable foodies. We had a variety of their dishes among the 4 of us. The steak with foie gras on top was terrific; it was not first pan seared as so many other restaurants do. The mussels were fresh and delicious in a white wine sauce. The bouillabaisse also was authentic and terrific. Also, the pork tenderloin with morels was wonderful, as were all the desserts, including profiteroles and the choux puff pastries. The house wine was inexpensive and good enough.

Visited this restaurant on a recent girls’ weekend. Had a table right near the window which was cozy and good for people watching. Perfect kir to start and then foie gras torchon which was creamy and rich. Had the skate special which came with a citrusy creamy sauce. Friend loved her seared foie gras and iberico pork. The veggies to share were delicious - particularly the pumpkin (can’t recall what kind, but it was great.) Server was friendly and efficient. Wonderful evening.

A small and welcoming space with fresh and creative French bistro dishes with all the favorites on a wide ranging menu; steak tartare, mussels, wonderful duck breast and really fresh seafood. Service is warm, caring and efficient. A moderately priced wine list, outdoor dining in season and a really fabulous chocolate lava cake round out the offering. If you are visiting NYC, go for a tourist free, reasonably priced neighborhood experience that will be a highlight of your trip to the city.

Excellent food with interesting menu.... service was good, meal not rushed. Downside was the room is very crowded, worse if your neighboring tables are noisy. There on a hot night with marginal A/C .... Will return when weather is cooler...

We finally tried l this fantastic little french restaurant, what a find. One of the best restaurants on the UWS with a great ambience. Our waiter Gonzalo was great, he was informative of the menu and wine list he gave his suggestions for the food which turned out to be absolutely amazing. The snails were possibly the best we have ever had, the home made mini raviolis with comte and shaved truffle were amazing. We only had appetizers as we weren’t very hungry, but for sure we will be back very soon. Great spot, highly recommended

I walked by La Sirene multiple times while i was living in the UWS but for some reason it never pulled me in. Perhaps, i was occupied by the noisy bars with hot wings just a few blocks away in my younger years, but after picking La Sirene on a whim for a date night i must say i hate myself for not going sooner. food, wine, service, and overall ambience of the crowd in the restaurant is second to none in all of Manhattan. My favorite upscale restaurant in the UWS; wish i could go even more than i do.

Love the atmosphere and our lovely French waitress. Mid afternoon snack - yummy onion soup and French toast Plus warm popovers - with jams A little piece of heaven and aptly named

This is is a nice small French restaurant serving traditional French bistro food. The welcome was very friendly, service was good, the restaurant itself was attractive, and the food was OK but nothing special. Fairly expensive, but the portions were big. I have no complaints about this place, but just think that there are other restaurants in the neighborhood that are better.

This is my favorite place to go for brunch on the UWS. The food is great, the service is so warm and friendly, and when I go there on Saturday or Sunday morning it is not crowded. Highly recommended!

We had a delightful breakfast at this cute little French cafe. The waitress was friendly. Another employee brought us a complimentary hot mulled wine since it was snowing outside. Unfortunately, we don't drink, but it smelled wonderful and reminded us of the Christmas Market in Strausburg. I had a wonderful traditional french toast. I also ordered some bacon. This was chunky, pork belly bacon that melted in my mouth!! My husband ordered a type of omelet that didn't taste as great, but my food was delicious!

The beet salad appetizer came with a slice of brie straight from the fridge. When we told the waiter this he said the chef always serves it cold. Cheese, especially a soft cheese, should never be served cold. The waiter graciously agreed to make it room temperature and even gave us a whole new beet salad. The rest of the food was very good and the service was, too. Has anyone else ever encountered a chef who serves cheese cold?

This place has been open for less than a year but the food and service were exemplary. Several menu items are shown as exclusive to the restaurant. One of them was the profiteroles which were delicious

The menu is typical French, but the taste is not so inspiring. I'd go back if I were feeling uninspired by anything else.

My wife and I ate Sunday brunch at La Sirene UWS with our 5 year old son and had a scrumptious brunch. Service: very good. Professional, attentive, and courteous. Decor: cute and low key. A nice place for a date or intimate lunch, brunch or dinner with a friend or loved one. Food: delicious! We ordered mussels, onion soup, hamburger, mimosas, and French champagne. Cost: our bill was around $96 excluding tip. A fair price for what you get on the Upper West Side. I would definitely recommend La Sirene if you are looking for French cuisine in a low key unassuming ambience.

We came here for brunch today and I had to write a review. This is a wonderful spot for brunch, with authentic and delicious French food, a very cozy ambiance and friendly service. The dining room is tiny but very cozy, and there is outdoor seating. You enter from 80th street but the main window (and the outdoor seating) is on Amsterdam. The food is delicious - we had the croque madame and œufs hollandaises (basically eggs Benedict). Both were excellent and came with a tasty fresh salad. But everything on the menu looked great. The espresso macchiato is also very good (European style, not Starbucks style!). For brunch they also have mimosas, Kyr royale, and vampires (made with Select aperitivo and prosecco - very nice). The service was very attentive and friendly. Keep in mind they only take cash or Amex (as well as a variety of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoins - which is kind of interesting). In sum, a great addition to the neighborhood. We look forward to going again for brunch and to trying their dinner menu!
Food great service not so great
The meal was delicious. The waiter could not be less cordial. 3 out of 4 received our drinks and the 4th drink (glass of wine) took forever. He was a bit dismissive almost rude. Thoroughly enjoys the meal - did not love the waiter vibe.
